THE CAST OF DUNGEONS AND RANDOMNESS

  • Jason Massey

    Dungeon Master & Co-Owner

Jason started D&R in April of 2012. It's since grown into a huge show and his full time profession. He has been able to move to California and is much happier there. He was able to fulfill a dream of his by performing a show with the cast at Dragoncon for multiple years, and would like to continue to grow the show online and in real life. He considers himself the luckiest person in the world to not only get to do this show but to have met such awesome people and become friends with them.

  • Brianna Marie

    Group Ravens & Co-Owner

Brianna Marie is the co-owner of the Dungeons and Randomness podcast, cast member, and ultimate behind-the-scenes wizard.

Brianna's love for all things nerdy extends beyond just Dungeons and Dragons. She's a self-proclaimed weeb, with a deep knowledge of anime and manga. Her taste in movies, on the other hand, can be questionable at times - she has a penchant for obscure horror films and objectively bad movies.

But when it comes to her work on the podcast, Brianna is all business. Her organizational skills are second to none, and she's the reigning queen of Excel sheets. Without her, the podcast would be chaos.

  • Alex Herrera

    Group Ravens

Alex has been a fan of all things fantasy and science-fiction since as far back as he can remember. Originally deterred from Dungeons and Dragons due to its association with being "too much of a nerd-thing", Alex began playing with his group of close friends after college. Alex found D&R while working as a travelling salesman, and later joined the cast after being cut from the final round of a casting call (Dreams do come true!). Alex has found fellow D&D enthusiasts and a profound appreciation for those who DM.

  • Ian Duncan

    Group Invasion

Ian is an editor by trade and a trader of tales. A lover of bourbon and all kind of ales. A roller of dice and a player of roles. A goof and a poof and slayer of trolls. The City of Angels is where he calls home, and he’s awaited in Valhalla all shiny and chrome. He’s on the tip of your tongue, at the edge of your sight. A shadow that slips silently into the night. He’s always been with us throughout human history. But why so mysterious? That too is a mystery! That’s all we know that rhymes about Ian. We also know that he loves pizza, giant mechs, and one of his biggest fears is that one day his skeleton will no longer want to live inside his body and try to escape. But that’ll never happen, right? Right?!

  • James Wilkinson

    Group Invasion

The Bard Of The North, James was the music that maintained the glaciers.

Unfortunately, James was killed in a horrific incident involving endless Canadian geese.

As penance, the Goose ringleaders are currently in a trenchcoat and are being forced to maintain the glaciers.

    It could be going better.

Still, the geese are great at D&D.

  • Jamie Lee-Bonés

    Group Forsaken

Longtime cast member, Jaime is stop it, you stop that right now. Get your hand out of that! Sorry, where were we? Ah yes, Jaime is the beloved nonononono put that down you’re going to break something. Give it to me. To me. Put it in my hand. No, I said IN my hand. Good. I do apologize for all of that. Anyway, beloved by all Jaime brings to the table no get away from the computer you’re going to post this before it isoiuhebfgiujbn5627588ght45H#W$%^HG%^W

  • Jamieson Alcorn

    Group Forsaken

In days gone bye, The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse had their essences shattered across humanity, with individuals taking small portions of each aspect and passing it along their bloodline. As those carrying these essences have children, the aspects knit together and become whole once again.

Jamieson carries a portion of the Aspect of War and is technically “The Horseman of Being Utterly Sick of People’s Nonsense”.

The good news is his wife is a perfectly nice lady by any measure and his line seems no closer to fully reuniting War, leaving that a problem for future generations.

  • Jason “Jasper” Permenter

    Group Ravens

Jason "Jasper" Permenter has been playing Dungeons & Dragons for over 30 years on both sides of the DM screen. In his previous career as a volcanologist and geology professor, he mostly had to deal with lower-level kobolds and orcs. Now, as part of the leadership team at a New York City design agency called (what else) 'Fantasy', Jasper fights higher-level evil undead on a daily basis. Previously on D&R, Jasper played Marrek Aethelred in Group C and Floss Va'Laal in Group Overseers. He currently brings Petrichor Multch to life in Group Raven. Originally from South Caroina, he now lives in Brooklyn, NY, with his badass wife Anna and their badass twins Luz and Felix, cat Samosa, and dog Mimolette.

  • Karen Huesman

    Group Forsaken

The reigning queen of Therian character deaths, Karen carries what would normally amount to being a dubious distinction with a bit of pride.

This is no doubt due to her recalling the entirety of all of her past lives. When you remember dying that many times, a game death is just a pleasant reminder of times gone bye.

Also, dear reader, she remembers what you did in a past life and has almost forgiven you.

  • Kelsey White

    Group Invasion

Kelsey is an agender scientist with ADHD. They play a lot of games and read a lot of books, and don’t have enough time to get through their backlog of either. They work as a GIS Risk Analyst, which means they take environmental data and use mapping software to determine things like how vulnerable different places are to flooding. Though they’ve been on the show since they started college in 2014 and a lot has changed since then, they still love Pokemon, their cat Taco, and obscure nature facts.

  • Lisa Didde

    Group Forsaken

Lisa is the first female water treatment operator in her hometown in Kansas. A DnD player for about 8 years now, she started with Basic Dungeons & Dragons and has now moved all the way up through all the editions. Outside of work, she can usually be found drinking coffee and reading books about dragons, when she isn't binge watching television online or crocheting.

  • Mandy Miyahira

    Group Pactbound

Mandy currently lives in Indiana with her lovely and endlessly patient wife. She is also owned by two kitties, Guinness and Winston, who may be assholes, and may meow all night and meow all day, but are also adorable purr-machines. She is currently employed as a Grant Consultant and keeps researchers from accidentally (or intentionally) committing fraud on their research grants while also getting to work on her beloved spreadsheets. She has been playing D&D and other tabletop RPGs ever since 7th grade (many many moons ago) and has now somehow managed to bribe her way onto the D&R cast (let's just say the Oreos were a *big* hit at DragonCon!). In her off-time, she likes to go indoor rock climbing and play JRPGs.

  • Michael Cameron

    Group Invasion

    Michael is….. .. . .. . .

  • Ryan Garner

    Group Pactbound

Operating as a fixed point in time and space, Ryan Garner remains the same across every reality. Each version of him does the same things in the same locations, causing ripples upon ripples the farther away from him you go.

Those who are able to travel across dimensions realize that the shifting anchor point moves periodically, but haven't realized yet that this is because of the anchor being a person instead of a place.

It is good for us all they they do not know, and Ryan deserves the thanks of us all for keeping everything safe.

Quantum Leap was based on his parents, but the network got every single detail wrong and Ryan will not elaborate how.

  • Ryan Heywood

    Group Pactbound

When asked, Ryan will say things like "I'm a construction guy" or "why you asking, you some kinda fed?" but in truth this Ryan does not actually exist. An echo of The Garner, This Ryan is simply a window into what could have been. Maybe a daydream (if not a particularly good or creative one) this Ryan is simply The Garner attempting to get on different groups. Says he is from Chicago, but mostly because there are enough people there that nobody could ever find him anyway.

  • Susan Spenader

    Group Ravens

Susan is a podcast fanatic who apologizes way too much and cunningly makes friends by bribing them with gifts. She's been a loyal listener to all sorts of podcasts for years, but in 2014 she took things to the next level. You see, Susan has a secret agenda: she's slowly but surely taking over all the podcasts out there, one by one.

It started innocently enough - Susan would write in with a funny comment or question, and before she knew it, she was being invited on as a cast member of D&R. But once she got a taste of the limelight, there was no stopping her. She started pitching her own ideas for episodes, and soon she was co-hosting and producing her own show.

Now, Susan’s got her fingers in every pie, from D&R to D&R Patreon to Respect the Crit. There’re even rumors of her starting her own network, aptly named "Susan's Syndicate." And if you're not careful, she might just take over your show too - she's got a way of making herself indispensable.

Watch out, podcasting world - Susan is coming for you!

  • Valerie Spanier

    Group Invasion

Valerie, despite repeated accusations, is not a witch.

    Here is some evidence.

When Valerie was born, she immediately spoke, "Hello Mother, hello Father. Thank you both for your part in bringing me into this world."

This level of politeness is unheard of with witches.

She went on, "Doctor....," she read his name tag, "Doctor Harkness. I would like to thank and commend you for having very soft hands and also for staying sanitary by wearing gloves."

Valerie was, of course, just born and had no way of knowing the gloves were mandatory procedure, but let's forgive her for this.

She then looked over to a nurse. "You, however, shall not be forgiven. You know of your shame that cannot be undone."

As the nurse backed out of the room a single trickle of what may have been sweat, blood, or some inky ichor trickled down her brow. When the nurse neared the door she almost tripped over two cats.

One was dragging in a broom and the other a pointy hat. Upon seeing them, Valerie said, "I am not a witch and shall not be needing those." As the cats started to dejectedly follow behind the nurse sprinting down the hall, she followed up with, "but after you have gotten rid of that nonsense you may stay."

See? She said she isn't a witch and really that slander should stop.

As a side note, that nurse was never seen again. Curious.

  • Xavier Trudeau-Deschênes

    Group Pactbound

Xavier is a renowned roleplayer and animator, but what he is best known for is being a member of the unseelie fae court. When he asks for your name, you should answer carefully.

If he plays "got your nose", your nose stays got.

  • Zach

    Group Forsaken

Miracle of science Z.A.C.H. was designed to be at the forefront of artificial intelligence. The first breakthrough, which came very close to passing the Turing Test came when a new form of Zinc alloy was used in the circuitry. The second breakthrough came when the switched the construct's coolant to ranch dressing.

Educated in human interaction by the best in improv, Z.A.C.H. (Zinc Alloy Cooled by rancH) his humanity has now surpassed that of his creators.

This, as it turns out, should not be a surprise. His creators were aliens who were testing him as an infiltration prototype. Fortunately, observing his interactions with the world has become their favorite form of entertainment and in viewing him they are long overdue in working on Z.A.C.H. 2.0, the one to destroy us all.

If you encounter Z.A.C.H. in the wild do not draw attention to his habit of refilling his cooling system in public.
