Streaming August 9th on Apple TV+. Howdy, folks. Brianna here. And before I let you listen to this awesome episode, and it is awesome, I just finished editing it, I want to tell you about our two lovely sponsors.

The first of those is Black Shell Games. These guys make some pretty fucking cool video games. We played Sanctuary RPG on our Twitch this last Saturday. We're going to be playing again this coming Saturday. If you want to watch that, we will be doing it on Saturday at 2pm EST. It is a blast. We'll let you guys make all of the decisions in the chat. And it's just the best game that I've played in a very long time. It's very fun to play with others. They also have two other games that I have not played yet, but I'm planning to. Dungeon Souls and Overture. You should definitely give them a look.

Next up, we have Geek Fuel. You guys have heard of them before, and if you haven't signed up, you definitely should. If you sign up by the 18th, you'll have this coming box by Christmas. You can give it to a friend, keep it for yourself, or stuff several stockings. That's what I plan to do with most of my Star Wars merchandise, because I'm not that into Star Wars, but I did get some really awesome shit in this last box, along with all of the Star Wars, because of course there's going to be Star Wars. It's Geek Fuel. If you love Star Wars, check it out.

If you don't, I promise they have other stuff in there that is worth keeping. Don't want to spoil it, but if you sign up by the 18th, you'll have it by Christmas. And they do make awesome stocking stuffers. I'm going to let you guys listen to that episode now. As I said, it's very, very good, and I will talk to you later. Let's do that thing where we go around the table and introduce ourselves. I'm Jason, I'm the Dungeon Master. Going around the table, starting with Valerie. Hi, I'm Valerie, and I play Sore Greywing, the Halfling Ranger. And Lisa. I'm Lisa, and I play Elorath Beestinger, the Halfling Barbarian.

And Karen. Hi, I'm Karen, I play Irena Stonebreaker, a mole paladin. Guys, last time on the show, Elorath and Sore was kind of faced with a decision to make. Essentially, who amongst the people who have died in Lockford would have a chance to be brought back? There is an elf paladin named Balrus, who was offered up his services to try and resurrect someone. Now, after some very lengthy and painful deliberation, the entire thing essentially came down to a coin flip, and fate decided that it was going to be coal. So what we're going to do is we're going to pick things up very briefly after that.

So Balrus is going to get ready and start to get everything together there, and he is going to attempt this resurrection. Now, on top of that, it was also decided that Sore, Elorath, and Irena were going to accompany Bree and these paladins into the Silverglade proper, and you're going to try and hunt down the alpha and the rest of the werewolves and try to end this, like exterminate them. Are you still down to do that? -Fuck yeah. -Yes. So let's pick things up pretty much, let's say an hour after those events. What would you guys be doing? I know that Elorath and Sore pretty much caught a nap there, rested up.

What would everyone be doing in terms of preparation? This would be pretty late in the afternoon. This would almost be sunset. Now, obviously you guys are not going out tonight, because that would be suicide. Essentially what you're doing is you'd be hampering your own eyesight, you'd be waiting for the fog to roll in, and why would anyone do that? So this would be a thing where you'd be heading out in the morning, early in the morning, as soon as that fog starts to dissipate. That would give you your best shot. So basically, what would everyone be doing tonight?

Are we, like, safe where we are? Safer than you were the night previous. The wolves have been chased out of town, and you don't know if they're going to try and attack again at some point, but you do have paladins and the remaining townsfolk and survivors. They're probably not going to be much help, but the paladins Bree and Poe would be. So you are in better shape. But if that's one of those things where you'd like to talk to... you'd like to talk to somebody about that, or Bree or whatever, that's an option too. No, I was just wondering. Bree had said something about gearing up.

Would that be something that we'd probably do before we leave? Well, here's the thing about picking up an hour after. She would have opened the shop forcefully, but opened it, and I would just assume that you guys went in there to loot now, off the show, we've already taken care of that. And you guys have found new equipment, new armor, new weapons, so you are ready to go. Yeah. Did we find any silver, Jason? Well, do me a favor. Everyone in the party, roll a perception check. Sora didn't. What about Dungeoneering? And okay, so that perception check, I was going to roll anyway to see if I found that secret weapon.

Oh, wait, damn, lookit. Eltharath is super perceptive right now. Just like me. Let's see here. None of you are going to find anything useful beyond the items you've already looted? Rude. Fair, but rude. You guys did find a hell of a lot of useful gear, though, and it's really going to help you in combat. It's going to help you last a little longer, it's going to help you do a little more damage. You guys are in much better shape than the night previous, again. So I don't want to put a damper on things, but two things need to be brought up. Now, one is that this could be your last night on Tharia.

This could be... I mean, you're about to attempt something very risky. You are essentially charging into the gaping maw of these werewolves and trying to tackle them on their own turf and get rid of them. What would you choose to do with your last night? That's really sad. I thought I was just suppressing his shit. Well, we don't know that it's your last night. What would you... Now, you can think of it another way, like how would you psych yourself up for battle? What would you get ready into to gear yourself up? Elorath would probably be taking practice swings somewhere.

Like just swinging her flail when she knows she's not going to hit anybody. Yeah, it should be noted that's still... You chose to keep your flail, like that's still your flail. But you did get new armor and all that stuff, so... Yes, because her flail is ridiculous and she is a ridiculous person and I love her. What about Irina? Well, if Elorath is going to be doing that, I think she'd approach Elorath and ask her if she'd like to spar. Yeah. Ooh. Let's do it. Like the cut of your jib, lady. We have not done this in a while. Let's do that. OK. So... How's about we pull up a little map for you guys and we're going to plunk you two on it and we're going to see who would win in a little competition, so...

Oh, I assumed this was a friendly spar. I didn't realize it was a competition. Well, we don't have to do it that way if you guys don't want to. Oh, no, I'm just teasing you. OK. 'Cause I'm an asshole. Jason's saying is he wants to know who's better. That is not what I was saying at all. I would never... Jason, who do you love more, me or Irina? We'll find out. Oh! Fight for my love. That's what I was about to say, Karen. You beat it to me. Sorry. I can't believe you. You can do it in like a Jason impression. No. Fight for my love! (LAUGHTER) What the fuck was that?

(LAUGHTER) Was that Patrick Stewart having a seizure? (LAUGHTER) So set the scene. (LAUGHTER) Set the scene for me here. Like, how would this come about? Would Irina challenge Elrath or...? I think it'd be more of a, "Let's see how well you fight." I didn't really get a chance to observe you in the last battle, but I want to know what's coming with me when we go fight those werewolves. All right. You want to do this? Yeah. Sweet. And she's going to have like the biggest grin on her face, like, "Let's fight." Do me a favor. Both of you, roll initiative. Ooh.

Elrath's going to lead things off. All right. So the objective here is we're just kind of like... We're not trying to hurt each other, right? Like, not too bad. Just sparring. I would say that until one person calls it or someone falls unconscious. OK, because we still have like a full night's rest ahead of us. -Potentially? -Yeah. -Potentially, sure. -Potentially. I mean... -Theoretically, yeah. -OK. OK. In theory. All right, well then, what is this new power? -Let's try all my new stuff. -She'll probably... Well, yeah. I'm going to use special beam cannon. OK, Elrath will probably...

If we're going to square up against each other, she'll probably run towards Irena, and she will probably... She's going to do Great Shout, and she's going to attack Irena with Great Shout. So let's see this. -Oh, which she will miss. -That is going to miss. Aww. She tried. She is so caught off guard. She just yelled, "Wah-wah-wah-wah-wah!" Excuse me. Do you regret it yet? No, I just try to figure out what I want to do to you. -Wow. -That's oddly sexual. And I mildly miss it. Well, it depends on how you say it. Like, tone of voice and it's like, "I'm just trying to figure out what I want to do to you." -That's...

-I'm less than I do with it now. -I mean, that's how I heard it, just saying. -Or if you slightly change... "I'm just trying to figure out what I want to do to you." Like, that sounds much more menacing. -No, it... -It sounds stalker-y. It sounds like you're going to get shot in the head. That's pretty menacing. Karen, can you say it? I'm more OK when you say it. Just try to figure out what I'm going to do to you. -Thank you, Burell. -That sounds almost clerical. I like it. Almost Palladian. Oh, God. OK. That's going to bring up Irina. OK. I am... Irina's just going to kind of hang back a little bit.

Just kind of see what Elorath's got going for her and she'll just retaliate with a basic melee. Hmm. Holy shit, that'll hit. Yeah, that will. -You didn't target me, though. -Almost the crit. -So, does it really kill? -I did, didn't I? -No. -No. -Oh, wait, I... -Wait, I just targeted myself? No, I don't think so, Scooter. Oh, I'm pressing Shift instead of Control. -There you go. -I'm stupid. No, baby. -We're rolling damage, right? -Yes. -OK. -That is 10 damage to Elorath. -Well, that's rude. -Is there anything else? -Oh, no, that's it. -Elorath, your turn. OK. She'll probably... probably go for Devastating Strike against Irina, because it's like, "What the fuck?

You are not intimidated by my... obviously domineering presence?" -At... Oh, my God. How tall is she? Like 3'6"? -Yeah. -Yours. You are not... -Yeah, I'm stated by me. -I'm 6'1". -Oh, that's adorable. -Aww. -Yeah, she's 3'8", and she's obviously confused as to why you're not intimidated by her, so she's gonna try Devastating Strike. -Oh, what the fuck? -Ooh. What is your AC? This is ridiculous. -I'm glad that you can take... -Yeah. -That's gonna come in handy later. -Yeah. Wow, I feel like she's just swinging wildly. Maybe she got... Maybe she did get a little drunk.

Who knows? I'm picturing Irina maybe holding her arm out. -Like... -Like on her forehead. -Yeah. -That's adorable, and I love it. -Can we make that cannon? -Just a lovely, like, a Scrappy-Doo situation. "Let me at 'em!" Like, just... That'll bring up Irina. -I have a weird question. -Mm-hmm. Technically, you were enemies, but if I have something that heals somebody, -I can use it on her? No. -No. Come on! Come on! Well, wait, are you trying to heal her? -Maybe. -I mean, yeah. -I mean, like, you can. -For future reference? Yeah, I mean, it's up to your discretion at this point, yeah.

OK. Um... I'm just going to do another basic melee. OK. That will also hit. Man, you're having a good Dice Knight. What is with this? This is shenanigans! I'm just wasting all of the good rolls right now. That is another 10 damage to Elorath. Elorath, your turn. This wedding is horseshit. -Round three. -Fight! She's going to try Escalating Violence. I feel like she's getting angry right now. She's like, "What is this?" She's going to try Escalating Violence. Suck my dick, Dice! What the fuck? That is sadly going to miss. I quit. [LAUGHTER] I quit. I feel like she's just going to go and just sit in the corner and whittle a fucking flute, because that's all she's good for right now.

Is Elorath particularly good at whittling? -No! -OK. She's just going to break twigs in half and call it a flute. -Arena, your turn. -OK. Um, I am going to do Resurgence Might. Mm-hmm. Um... -This is ass. What is happening? -That's a hit. [LAUGHTER] She's rolled like 18s and 16s. Her bonus roll so far, ladies and gentlemen, has been a 16. I just want to put that out there. And my highest has been, what, an 8? Yeah, that's another 11 damage to Elorath. OK, but there's another part to it. Hold on. So part of that is that it gives a Healing Surge, so... [LAUGHTER] You're pitying me now.

But I will take your help. But as a move action, I'm going to back off. I'm going to take a step back and kind of put my hands up to disengage. Like, like we're done? Like, I've seen what I needed to see. Oh! Boo! I mean, I can keep going if you want me to, but at this point... Oh! So... OK, so, arena's taking a step back. After three rounds of this, it's like, "OK, I think I've..." And then you're just... Is that the attitude that, like... It's kind of... Not like... Not like snooty, but just like, I wanted to figure out something, and I did. OK, so from Elorath's perspective, arena's going to hit you three times, then heal you, then take a step back.

Oh, fuck that. OK. Fuck that! She's going to try Roaring Challenge. OK. She's going to, like, probably take a step forward and just, like, try and swing again. Motherfucker! Fine! I guess we can be done. Son of a bitch! I'm so angry on behalf of her. I love how you sounded proud with that. Mm-hmm. I feel... Sorry, I was just clearing my throat. No, I love you. I feel so bad for Elorath. This is not... She's so... She's so upset. She's seen so many people die. I feel like that's her problem. You're not having a good Dice Knight, and I feel bad. Hopefully you're getting it out of your system for the wolves.

I do have an AC of, like, 25, though, so... That is higher than the werewolves who just fought, so I'm not... I'm still mad, but I'm less butthurt than I was before. OK. What would arena's reaction be to Elorath taking one more swing? She's gonna kinda nod her head a little bit. And when she's done... God, this sounds so bad. When she's done missing... She's gonna say, "Stop." I had a feeling, and I see that to be true. You let your emotions get in the way when you're fighting. No. No? No. I asked you to spar as a friendly thing, and there was no hesitation for you.

You just ran at me. It didn't seem to me that you were even thinking defensively. And then when you missed, you got angry, and you missed again. And then you got even angrier, and when I stepped away, you tried to hit me again. If that isn't someone who's being led by emotions, I don't know what that is. So? So it doesn't make for a good fighter. If you let your emotions get the best of you in the middle of a fight, how are your teammates supposed to rely on you to do what's good for the party? Elorath would probably... Like, her entire demeanor will just probably, like, relax and kind of collapse in on itself a little bit, just like...

And she'll say, "I don't know." I know that this group has had some tough times. I know you just lost members, and it was in a very gruesome way, but if you want to keep going on this, like you've told us that you want to, I think that you need to think more. Being emotional is great. It's good to put strength behind your swings, but if there's no control behind that... it's useless. Okay. It's just been a day. I know. And I don't mean to discourage you from what you're trying to do, 'cause I think that your mission is a good one. A little hastily put together, I think, but there are things in Theria that need cleaning up, and I admire you guys for trying to do that, and I think there needs to be more people like you in this world.

I just want you to think more about your actions. I'll try. You fight real good. Thanks. I've had a lot of experience. Maybe we can do round two later. Yes, after we kick some werewolf ass. After we take care of this furry nonsense. So what would Sora be doing this entire time? I think Sora would just be... I think she would just kind of be in a room somewhere alone and maybe pacing a little bit, just trying to get her mind to calm down and be ready for the day tomorrow. She'd also probably go to sleep kind of early, just so she can have a lot of rest. It's boring, I know.

I would say while you were... Yeah, I'd say while you're pacing, at some point, Brie would come... At the very least, come get Erina and Elorath, because they would probably be pretty visible and loud during their whole sparring session. So Brie would probably come get Elorath and Erina at some point. Like, after you guys are done your talk, she'd kind of keep a respectful distance until you're done. And she would walk up, and Bower said he's getting ready to start the attempt. So I didn't know if you'd want to come watch. Yes. And not knowing if Erina would want to come, she'd probably stick out her hand for a handshake or something.

She'd be like, "Another time." Erina will reciprocate and say, "Yes, we have to do this again." Just this smile of, "Yeah, I respect the shit out of you. I'm going to kick your ass." Just comes across Elorath's face. She's really glad to be fighting with you. And then she'll turn towards Brie, and she's like, "Let's go." Do you think Sora would want to see this? We should ask her anyway. They didn't really get along, but I feel like she might want to be there, just in case something happens. How hard do you think Sora would be to find? I mean, she's not hiding from anybody.

She's just in a room, a private room, is all. Okay, so I'd say eventually Brie would probably find her, then. Yeah. So again, probably approach her slowly, just to make sure she doesn't startle you or anything like that. Bowers is getting ready to start the resurrection. I figured I'd ask if you wanted to come see it. So Sora's been just pacing back and forth, and she's been kind of looking at the ground as she's done so. So she'll stop, kind of look up at Brie, and say, "I can be there. I want to be there." Are you doing okay? Yeah. Life goes on. Look, again, I know that you've all been through a lot, too much, but I do think that we're gonna be able to clear out the woods once and for all, and maybe one day this town can get back to normal.

At least the people here could feel safe. It may not feel like it, but you've all done a lot so far. It feels like we've just faced heartbreak after heartbreak. Well, you did kill some of the wolves, and every one of them you drop is one that isn't gonna be attacking the town. That's something. You helped out people in Aubrey? We did. Come on, let's go check in on Bowers and make sure everything's okay. Let's go. I would say that this is a bit of an event. Now, obviously, it's pretty much just going to be the party, and Brie, and Irena. Everyone else is pretty much on guard duty for this town.

The people that are left are pretty much all up in the only two or three buildings in town that are fully intact, and we're talking doors, windows, that type of thing that can be closed. It's sort of a last-ditch effort, but they do have pallet and standing guard, and it makes them feel a little bit safer. So the rest of everyone else would be in this one building. I would say that Cole is lying on a table. Could have been someone's dinner table, something like that, but something large enough for it to support him. Bowers is going to be kneeling next to that.

If there's anything anyone wants to do before we get started on this, then now is the time. I don't know, other than just going in the room and just being quietly respectful, or respectfully quiet, whichever order those words go in. You want me to break this down for you guys and give a refresher on the new rules for Resurrection? New? I want to know the rules. New rules? New. At the beginning of the new year, I pretty much decided that it's a little too easy to bring someone back. Rude! Yeah. And... Eleven months later, rude. I posted something in the basement a very long time ago.

Essentially, the damage has been cranked up, and the repercussions are a bit larger. I will say that it used to be two rolls. One to see if a character would come back, and then one to see what was wrong with that character. Those rolls have been compiled into one. The higher the level that the paladin or cleric is that is going to be attempting the Resurrection, the greater the chances that a character is going to be coming back, and the less chance there is of there being something really wrong with them. So, speaking mechanics-wise, which we don't normally do, but we're going to do this.

Bowers is a level 12 paladin. I heard level 30. Just for the weather. He is a god. He is a god. Chord 2.0. So, damage-wise, he's going to be taking more damage, but the chances of Cole coming back are greater, and the chances of him coming back not all fucked up are greater. So, that's the trade-off. Oh. Not all fucked up. Just a little fucked up. We might... Well, we're going to see. Oh, not fucked up at all. -We're going to see. -Mat 20. Is everyone ready? No. Bowers is going to outstretch his hands, and lay them on Cole's chest now. Cole has obviously sustained some pretty tremendous wounds.

Two werewolves had gotten ahold of him, and various rakes and claws have torn his body up, and then there are the bites. So, Cole is not looking great. Let's put it that way. Bowers' hands are going to start to glow, and the glow is going to get so bright that pretty much everyone in the room is going to have to shield their eyes. Let's start by rolling damage. Stop clicking. Oh, my god. (gasps) That is 81 damage. That is going to drop Bowers outright. He is going to fall unconscious. Not before... I would imagine shrieking in pain. The kind of psychological and physical pain is pretty much immeasurable.

That will not be enough to kill him outright, but thankfully there was some really low dice rolls on that one, so Bowers is going to fall over, and I would say that Bree would kind of rush to his aid after being able to see, but the glow is going to subside. And here's where we find out what happens to Cole. I'm going to roll a flat D20. On a one through three, Cole does not come back. Cole's soul will be lost, and it will be impossible for Cole to be resurrected. On a four through 20, we're going to see what happens. You guys ready? Yeah. The glow is going to stop after a while, and again, Bowers is passed out and just completely wrecked.

A large amount of damage has been done to him. Cole's body is going to be seemingly healed of all of its superficial wounds, the bites, the claws, and all of that. However, he is not going to start breathing again. And after a short time, it's going to become apparent to the group that nothing happened. What would everyone's reactions be in the room? I think after it's clear that Cole's not breathing, Soar is just going to kind of slowly turn around without saying anything and walk out of the room. Arena's concern would be Balrus, just trying to maybe revive him, like smelling salt, I don't know.

Should I run a heal check, or can I just use Lay on Hands on him to kind of just get him back up on his feet? Lay on Hands would work, yeah, he'd be conscious. The spell does a doozy on anyone even attempting it. Yeah, I just kind of want to get him up in mobile so he can get somewhere to rest. Yeah. Yeah, Bree would not be able to do anything like that, so that would be Arena. So I would say that Balrus would be conscious, but completely out of it. I mean, the pain of trying to do it, he'd have half hit points, and he'd be weakened, and all that. Like, there's a ton of repercussions that go with even attempting it.

So he's going to be out of it for, at the very least, the rest of the night. And while he'd be conscious and coherent tomorrow, for the next few days, he's going to be pretty messed up. OK. Yeah, I'd do that, get him conscious, and kind of try to get him to his feet, and maybe to a bed somewhere. I think Bree would help you try to get him somewhere. What about Alarath? She's going to be feeling this mixture of... It's weird, because she was really hopeful, because she was really hoping that this would work, and so she's just really confused and disappointed that he's not breathing right now.

So she'd probably just stare at him for a minute until it becomes, like, even after Sora has left, she'll still stare at him for a while, and then she'll reach out and... probably poke him with, like... Like, she'll probably reach out with her flail and just, like, touch him. And she'll look at Balrus when it becomes uncomfortably apparent that it didn't work, and she would look at him, and if he can hear her, she would say... "Thank you for trying." And then she would probably exit and go try to find Sora. Where would Sora be right now? Sora just kind of walked outside.

- Wait, is it dark? - It's getting dark now, yeah. OK, Sora doesn't go outside. Well, the sun's setting. It's not set yet. Sora's gonna... She'll be outside of the room that everything was taking place in. She's probably just, like, leaning against a wall. So it would be really easy for Elorath to find her, then. - Yeah, she didn't go far. - Right. OK. So when Elorath leaves the door and she finds Sora... she'll probably... look at her and she'll say... "We had to try." - We did. - Yeah. And that's all we could have done. I'm sorry you... lost your friend. Me too.

I'm glad we tried. 'Cause... we had to, but... this almost hurts more. This sucks. Sora's just gonna nod and then look away. And with that, Elorath will probably go back to where they were bedding down. And she might not go to sleep right away, but she's probably gonna sit there and just... stew in silence. I feel like everyone's gonna bed down for the night. That's what it feels like. OK, so let's give the entire party... sadly, what's left of them, an extended rest. Give Elorath her 12 hit points last back. She's only mildly horrified that you just wiped the floor with her BT dubs.

Did I like 31 points damage you or something like that? - Yes. - You almost bloodied me. Not that we're counting. Wow. Wow. - Whoa. - That was an exhibition. It was friendly. - Lowest. - I healed you for 19 afterwards. God. You did, and I appreciate that, question mark. So the next day, people are gonna start to get up and get ready here and gather their things. Do me a favour, everyone, roll a perception check for me. Hmm, OK. I would say that... the first thing you're going to notice is that the town was not attacked in the middle of the night. That is really apparent.

And sort of exiting where you were, sleeping and everything, you would see that there are a few people milling about, the fog has lifted, and you're gonna see the paladins sort of congregating in the middle of town. Specifically, you're gonna see Bree and Poe speaking to each other. And from where you're standing, it kind of looks like they're kind of saying their goodbyes, and Bree's getting ready to gather everyone and depart here. Is there anything that the three of you would like to do before you leave Lockford? Are the children still in the town?

Oh, yeah, no one's leaving. That's kind of a thing that they've... The children are staying with the rest of the survivors of Lockford. They're sort of packed into these houses, so you're getting a bunch of people instead of one single family or two or something like that, you're getting a bunch of people staying in these kind of makeshift sort of shelters. OK, I kind of want to say bye to them before we leave. Sure. Again, not hard to find, they're just sort of congregating with the other adults here. So both Shaw and Lucy would still... They'd be right there.

I'm gonna walk up to them and say, "Shaw, Lucy, "I am gonna go with a bunch of other people into the woods, "and we're going to see if we can end this forever." I say Lucy would just sort of reach out and kind of hug Soar's waist. Just squeeze real tight. I mean, I think they're like the same height. They're... I mean, Soar would be a little taller. Not by too much, though. Oh, I'm gonna hug her back. Shaw would definitely be taller, but yeah, he's kind of on the runty side, like pretty thin. So he's going to sort of... He's gonna hug Soar, but not like as intensely as Lucy is.

And she'll hug him as well. And after a moment, he would just try to be careful. I will. The same goes for you two. You need to look out for each other, OK? They would both nod their head, like, emphatically, just like, "Uh-huh." And as Lucy finally lets go, I think Shaw would just sort of like... Shaw's been really, really close to Lucy after all of this, like, especially the stuff with her sister. He's kind of always hovering behind her or next to her or something like that, and just sort of always has an arm on her shoulder or something like that, just kind of like being right there.

Anybody else want to do anything before you leave town? I'm good. Yeah, no, I think just putting on new armour and getting ready for battle. All right. Bree's gonna meet you guys on the edge of town, and there are going to be two paladins that are accompanying the rest of you. Everyone else is going to stay behind and try and guard Lockford. Should you all fail. Before you take off, Bree would speak up. Before we got here, I sent word to the Overwatch, and there should be more people coming. They should have set off before we even got here, but it's probably still going to take them some time.

Whatever happens to us, the rest of the town should be protected within the next day or two. Are you all still ready to do this? Belleroth will probably just look at her and, like, nod. Yeah. Sorrow will nod too. With that, I would say you guys are going to leave Lockford and start to head into the Silver Glade. So, the forest itself is located precariously close to this small town, and it would not take too long for you to cross the large grassy field that separates the two of them. And you're going to start hitting trees pretty close, within the hour here.

And then the Silver Glade itself is going to start to thicken up a bit. Now, there are paths, but they sort of spiderweb throughout the forest, and paths will just abruptly end or lead to dead ends in the forest, things like that. There's no real rhyme or reason as to why there's a path and why there'd be none. So, it's going to be slow going. And I would say that you guys are going to be a few hours out. And I would like everyone to do me a favor and roll Perception. Wow. Can I just quit tonight, in general? Like, fuck. Clearly, this isn't the answer. I mean, you got higher than me and you rolled lower, so...

Yeah, you should. Yeah, Rin is trained for getting hit, not perceiving things. Yeah. I would say that... Wow, none of that's incredible. Sora would perceive the most here. It's really still and quiet in the Silver Glade, which is kind of eerie, because the forest has this reputation, right? It has this kind of reputation of, well, that's instant death. Don't ever go there. No one goes to the Silver Glade, that type of thing. But once you're actually in the forest, it's almost serene. It's really calm. And this goes on for a while. And what's really interesting is that when you're in the forest, usually there's kind of just regular wildlife sounds, like a babbling brook, or you'll hear leaves rustling, something like that.

Beyond the occasional tree branch shifting or leaves rustling, because it is coming on fall now. And, you know, leaves are starting to turn color and that type of thing. But Sora's going to notice that she's not hearing birds or frogs, nothing. Like, nothing really is going on in the forest. The occasional breeze, the occasional shifting tree branch, something like that, but other than that, nothing. And you guys are going to continue through the forest. Is there anything you'd like to do before we continue? Anything at all? - Like what? - Oh, anything! I'm just asking before we...

- That was really ominous? - No, not at all. Like, is there anything you want to talk about, anything you want to say, anything you want to do at all? That's all. I feel like Elorath would just be on high alert. Yeah, attempting to be on high alert. Failing, but attempting. She gets a participation trophy today. All right, then. You guys are going to continue to the forest. Someone do me a favor, roll a flat d20. Let's go with Elorath. Oh, must we? My luck has been so good today. All right. Watch, this will be, like, the only decent roll. Here we go. Are you ready?

Karen, I want you to blow on this die for me. I appreciate the effort. I heard it. It didn't land in there. Fuck you, die. - Aw. - That's not terrible. - You're not the worst. - That's... no. - I mean, we've had natural ones before. - You sure have. I didn't suck ass bad today. I would say that the tension is starting to build, because you guys are really deep in the forest by now. This has been a long time. And I would say that the perception of the Silverglade is that once you step in, you're pretty much just going to be fighting the entire time. The fact that there is almost no noise, there is nothing to fight, and you know for a fact that there are, at the very least, werewolves in this forest somewhere, that I would say the tension is sort of mounting.

Everyone do me a favor, roll a perception check. - Wow. - Hey, almost a crit. Both Sora and Erina are going to hear something in the great distance. And that is going to be one long, loud howl. And it sounds very close to the same type of howl you heard in Lochfort several times. And this is coming from a northwesterly direction. Everyone's going to stop dead, I would imagine. And Bree's going to turn to you. Do you hear that? Yes. Yeah. Hear what? There was a howl. Did it sound like it was coming towards us, Jason? It's coming from too far away for you to hear if it's moving towards you or not.

You just heard the source of it, like where it was coming from. Okay. Erina will gesture in that direction and say it came from that way. Bree's going to take a look at the group. All right, we've been marching for a few hours. Does anyone need to stop for a minute? I think we're good. Yeah, I don't know. Pee break. Oh, I tinkled in my armor way too long ago. All right, then let's head out. At least we know where some of them are now. Someone do me a favor and roll a nature check to see how quickly we could get from point A to point B. Point B being the source of, well, at least the general direction of where you heard this howl.

Who's going to be our tracker? Not it. Would that be the ranger? I feel like that's a Sora thing. I do have a plus ten. Oh, yeah. That's better than mine. Okay, I've been having really, really bad rolls all day today, though, so preach, honey. Well, it ain't going to be Bree. And it ain't going to be these paladins, so Sora, I think you're it. I think you'd be our tracker. Okay. Though I could be wrong. I have been wrong on occasion. So Sora's going to take the lead of this party. She is going to proceed to stumble through the woods trying to track these wolves.

I would say after about an hour and a half. Bree would kind of come up on Sora's side. Do you have anything? Are you sure you know what you're doing? No, but I've already gone this far, so I can't really stop now. She's going to sort of, okay, Bree's going to almost tilt her head to the side like a dog who's trying to hear something better. Are you serious? I wish I wasn't. Look, you know it's okay to say you need help. There's nothing wrong with that. Okay, then we should stop. Okay, almost frustratedly she's going to sort of hold up her hand to the rest of the group.

Alright, we all need to get together for a minute. Let's just take a break. And we'll keep a lookout, but grab a drink or something, because this isn't working. I know enough about this place to know that if we keep wandering around like this, something's going to attack us. Isn't that kind of the point, though? Well, you want the right things to attack us. Oh, okay. Because there are also trolls in the Silver Glade. Oh, shit, yeah there are. Isn't that how we got into this mess in the first place, like a long time ago? Okay, never mind. Fuck me. We're going to back away slowly.

Was that in character? No, that was me making a Haven reference from like forever ago. I'm just going to sit here and crochet and want to die. I would say that there would be a bit of a break here and everyone's kind of getting their bearings. While we're doing that, Sora, do you want to give it one more try with a nature check? Sure. Maybe we'll have a Gandalf situation where Sora's just like, "Oh, I got this now. Okay." God! Are you serious? Bye, guys. No, guys, like, okay, I got it this time. Like, another hour goes by, I have no fucking clue what's going on.

Can I do one behind her back? This bitch. I, okay. Because I heard the noise? Here's the thing. I'm going to say that the exact same level of confidence, because that's the exact same role, so the exact same level of confidence is going to exude from Sora, which is... So... You guys are going to start off again, and after, I'd say about another half hour or so, Brie would approach Sora. Did you find any tracks? Anything? She sounds so hopeful. Oh, hehehehe. Sora's gonna, you know, just kinda keep marching ahead and just, like, not look at her. And just kinda be like, "I mean, not really?" Like, at all?

Okay. And she's going to wave Erina over, and sort of whispering to try and spare Sora's feelings. Could you please do me a favor and help her out? Yeah. Can I, like, roll something to see if I heard that? Perception. Okay, yeah. Never mind. Nope! I'm staring at the ground, Shane faced. So, nature check. Nature check. Oh, well. *laughter* Wow. Can I try one just to shit everyone? No, Erina, Erina, you lead us around for an hour now. I think it's going to be one of those things where Erina's going to admit that she's a little out of her depth. So, like, after five or ten minutes, maybe, instead of an hour?

Yeah, she's going to be like, "Uh, I got nothing." Just kidding, guys. It's like, "I don't see anything." Do me a favor... Do me a favor, Erina, roll a flat d20 for me. Oh no. Ohhhhh! Oh, shit's done! Just kidding, a magical silver weapon that kills all werewolves instantaneously falls in the sky! It's canon now. Erina... Erina's going to stumble across something. Is it shiny? There's a clearing. Up ahead. It may just be blind luck. I don't know if Erina has told everyone that maybe she's completely out of her depth yet and didn't really see anything, but within about five or ten minutes of Erina taking the lead and starting to lead the party through the woods, Erina's going to happen upon a clearing.

Everyone do me a favor, roll a perception check. Finally! Elorath. Sora. Erina. All of you are going to spot this clearing and it appears as though there are... staggered remains, let's call them. Now, what appears to be left is bits of armor and discarded weapons, things like that. And it appears to be getting closer. Elorath is going to spot that some of these bodies appear to be, well, the bits and pieces that are left are probably weeks old. Oh. Thank you. And there's very little meat, let's call it, left. But there is some chainmail, there is some... it looks to be some robes and things like that.

There does appear to be some weapons and armor and odds and ends scattered about. Hey. Does it happen to be silver? So, okay, let me ask you a question. Are you going to search through this little clearing and these remains? Damn straight. Oh, Sora. Sora's going to find a few things. Some of these appear to be odds and ends, baubles, things like that. Actually, Sora... Oh no. Do me a favor and roll a history check. Hist... oh, that's not good. Okay. We are on a roll, guys. What are histories? What even are histories? All I'm saying is I'm trained in that. What are things?

Well, Sora's going to find a bit... some baubles, some odds and ends, things like that. Some of them appear to be really important, but Sora has no idea any historical importance or what they'd be. One of them appear to be a set of dice that are kept in this really ornate box. Like, they appear to be both created and kept with a lot of loving care. There's going to be some really highly polished weapons and bits of armor. A lot of baubles and trinkets and even this really well-manicured chessboard. These don't appear to be items that people would willingly leave behind.

The people who had these probably met a grisly end, and that's apparent by, well, the bits and pieces of bodies sprinkled around the clearing here. I'm going to grab all of this shit, scoop it up in my arms, and bring it over to everybody else. That's what I found. I don't know what any of it is, but it's pretty cool, right? Irena, Elorath, do me a favor, roll a history check. Please. Oh, yeah. Oh, maybe. I'm trained in that. Sorry. Jason, I love you so much right now, before you even get into it. I'm just like, "Ugh, this is so circular." Do you know how long I've been waiting for anyone to come back here?

I recognize a couple of these items, specifically the dice. And she's going to realize that these are artifacts. These are very rare artifacts. These are one-of-a-kind artifacts. And the last that Irena would have known about it, they were pretty much locked away. A collector in Brightport had a large collection of these types of things, and these items were locked away. They haven't been seen in many years, some of them decades or more. These are very valuable. Okay. Like, how many unique items would you say are there? There are three in total that you can see that are definitely something that Irena would recognize.

Now, Sora picked up an assortment of items, but you're not exactly sure about the other ones. Okay. Would I know what those things did? You would know that they're valuable. The dice? Yeah, you would know that they're valuable and that you'd know that they're wanted. You wouldn't exactly know exactly what they did. Okay, I'm going to take those three things and put them in my pack. That sounds like I'm stealing. That sounds very much like you were stealing. Yeah, I'm just going to tell Sora these items are extremely valuable. If you're okay with it, I'd like to hang on to them.

Absolutely. I have no clue what they do. Okay. So I'm just going to put them in my pack for safekeeping, and then they can do whatever they want with the other stuff. Okay. A lot of it is spare weapons, armor, things like that. Sora is also going to find a few spare silver arrows. Three, to be specific. These are very obviously silver tipped. They sort of gleam. And that would be a pretty big find. I know what those are, right? Oh yes. That's kind of Sora's bag, right? The whole arrows thing. Yeah. On top of that, you are also going to find about 600 gold. Elorath.

Yes. Actually, you know what? Arena. Since Arena... Arena sort of led the party here, right? Yeah, I totally knew what I was doing, guys. God. Sort of. Bitch. I'm just saying, I got five to ten minutes away from here. [Laughter] So you loosened the can lid for me. Oh, absolutely. Are you kidding? Arena, do me a favor. Roll a perception. Ugh. No, that's cool. Whatever. Eww. How's some shoelaces, girl? Yeah. I'm still thinking about those artifacts. Well, in the midst of scooping up these artifacts and putting them in her bag, totally not stealing. Totally not stealing, guys.

She's actually going to stumble forward a bit. And she's going to look down, I imagine, instinctively and wondering, like, what the hell was that? Like, it sort of seemed like the ground just dipped a bit. And what she's going to find is one massive track. And it looks to be the paw print of one of the wolves, if not the largest one. And it's leading in a very specific direction into the woods. I found a thing, guys. There's a track here. We're going that way. I sort of like how Arena's like ass backwards falling into. [Laughter] We would actually walk up to Arena, "Good job, good job." Like, very, very much like, "Thank you." Like, we were getting nowhere.

"You're very welcome." Sora's like really butthurt. [Laughter] Because she pulled a muscle. Was she clenching them both too hard? Absolutely. And that's where the expression comes from. Here we go. Proud of you. Love you, Valerie. Well, it's going to become really apparent. It's going to become really apparent that you guys are closing in on where these wolves are. Now, I'm going to ask a very important question. Would someone like to scout ahead following these tracks and roll a stealth check? Okay, I know my rolls have been like really shit, but I have plus 14.

How could anything go wrong? I feel like you're the best bet. Like, even if I get a 1, it's still like a 15. Jason, excuse you. Would this be something where Sora would tell the group, "I got this. Let me scout ahead." I don't know, because like, I go in the back and I don't want to be in the front. Okay. I think like, Elorath would be like, "You're sneaky. You do it." Does that feel like something Elorath would do? Oh, I don't know. I feel like she'd be consumed because she didn't hear the howl. And she's thinking about how poorly she performed, and her friend didn't get to come...

No, she wouldn't say it. She'd probably look at Sora, but she probably wouldn't say anything. All I'm saying is I'm in full plate mail armor. I am not sneaking anywhere. Bree could do it. Bree would try. It's not going to be as good as Sora's roll, but she could try. What's her modifier? It's like half. Do you think I should do it, guys? Mechanically? Okay, she's gonna do it. She's gonna say, "You know what? I have to redeem myself. You know, I've been slacking a little bit today." But this is gonna fix everything. Bree would kind of put a hand on Sora's shoulder.

Are you sure? No, but... it's the right thing to do. She would give you a nod and just sort of pat you on the shoulder, like, "Good luck. You can do this." Do me a favor, Sora. Roll a stealth check. Okay, I'm gonna close my eyes. I can't. Aye! What? Yeah! That is a 32. I don't know what you were worried about, girl. Right? Girl, we knew you got this. Sora's going to stealth ahead of the party. After a bit, she's going to be crawling over these logs and everything. The tracks lead off of any trail that you guys have been on so far, and it appears as though they lead into this valley.

So right now, Sora is sort of leaning over this log, looking down. And there's a drop-off of about ten feet. And it's sort of this gentle sloping hill, but it does lead into this very small valley where some sun is getting through. And do me a favor, Sora, roll a perception check. Okay. So bits and pieces of downed tree and log where you can tell some of this is just rotten or maybe it's been struck by lightning, something like that, but it does sort of present this natural choke point on one end of this valley, so this appears to be the easiest way to get in.

Sora's also going to spot something else. A pack of wolves, some of the same werewolves that attack Lockford, including the largest one of them, is sleeping in the center of this valley. What would Sora like to do? 'Cause I'm assuming if I go back and tell them and then we all go, then you gotta do another stealth check, right? Yeah, there'd have to be a stealth check, but what I would do is I would give you a plus to it because one, you know exactly where the wolves are, you know that they're sleeping, and yeah. So there'd be a little less random chance to it.

So they're in the valley? Mm-hmm. They're about, they're about 45, 50 feet away from you. Okay. Now, where everybody else is, like, we left that clearing, right? Or are we still in that clearing? You guys would have been on this, like, not a trail, but the trees have thinned out a little bit in where the party is. They're probably maybe 100 yards behind you? Okay. They're pretty far away. Hmm. Okay, out of game, what do y'all think I should do? 'Cause I have, like, three silver arrows and I can go for that, but then if I wake 'em up, then I have to, like, run back to you guys and then let you know that, like, something bad is coming.

Or, I can go back, tell you guys, and then we all try and do a stealth check to get to where I am, and then we, like, I am Sparta then? You are Sparta? Yeah, you know, like, you know, like, you know, and then- Like the Persian army, or- This is Sparta. And then, listen, and then you get, like, all in bum rash at the same time, you know? Okay. Called Gorilla Warfare. Called what? Gorilla Warfare. There's- There are six wolves counting the alpha. Oh! Okay. Counting the alpha? Counting the alpha. Okay. How many of us are there? Well, it's- well, there's six of you.

Wait, wait, wait, important question. Mm-hmm. Cuddle pile? They are pretty close together. Ooh, who has a bomb? A bomb? Yeah. Who just has a bomb? Yeah. I believe that would be Marek, okay? None of us have a bomb. Who has a couple grenades? I have the holy hand grenade of Antioch. Five is right out! No more than three? Ugh, that's some reference. Gross. Valerie! So, I don't- what do you guys think I should do? Because I have no clue. Well, do you think Sora would just, like, shoot an arrow, like, suck my dick, and then come get us? Or do you think she would be like, oh, shit, I'm gonna get everybody else?

Fuck. I mean, I guess those are like my only two things, right? Like, shoot them and then run away, or get you guys and have you guys come, or- Yeah, and then we all try to be sneaky and then try to attack. Wait, okay, if- let's see. If we were able, like, all of us to, like, sneak back there, we would get, like, a surprise round or something, right? Oh, yeah. Because they're like a sneak- Oh, yeah. Is this daylight? Oh, yes. Okay, sorry, I was like, that's probably a dumb question, but- No, not at all. It's important. It was a lot dumber than Tidal Pile. Fuck me.

Okay. Okay. Sora- shit. Why you gotta do this, Sora? Sora's gonna, like, try and hit that alpha with everything she's got. Alright. Here's what we're gonna do. What we're gonna do is just put Sora and the alpha on the field right now. Two questions. One, are you going to try to use a silver arrow? Yes. Alright. Question two, what attack are you going to be trying to use? I have a question for you. Is the werewolf considered prone? Yes. Interesting. Okay. Here's the thing. Technically- I'm gonna put this to you. Technically, because the werewolf is sleeping, all of these werewolves are sleeping, they're considered helpless.

Do you know what that means in D&D terms? Of course I don't. Okay, then. What that means is, if you were to do damage to any of them, essentially you're delivering a coup de grace, which means it is an automatic crit and max damage if you hit. Ooh. What if she rolls a nat 20? Is that double max damage? No. I think it should be. No, but you do get weapon bonuses and stuff like that. And since you're using a silver arrow, I might do something else. But, the thing is to deliver that coup de grace, you'd have to be close enough to do that. Now, what's the range on Sora's weapon?

It's 20 to 40. Squares? Okay. Yeah. You're fine then. You're totally fine. Now, once you strike them, it's on. But I mean, you do get one really good hit here. Yeah. Okay, I just really don't want to miss, because this one's really good and if I do hit it and it's crit, it's going to be so great. Well, you'll never know until you swing. Oh, fuck. Okay, I gotta do it. I gotta do it. Okay, gotta do it. I gotta believe. Okay. Okay. I have a new power, and it is called Finishing Cut. You execute a swift attack against a foe attempting to finish off the creature. Except this is like the first time hitting it.

But, the attack is only dexterity versus AC. But, the damage is two weapon plus dexterity modifier and then, if the target is bloodied or thrown, the attack deals two extra weapon damage. And, yes, I am also putting Hunter's Quarry on the alpha. Alright. Now, here's the chance you're taking. Okay. These werewolves are about 50 feet away. Now, what's going to happen here is you're going to get to swing and we're going to see if this hits the wolf. So, let's do that first. Do me a favor. Target werewolf alpha and when you're ready, make your swing. Now, I have a question.

Because it's like still my turn, I'm able to run away, right? Um, let's see if it hits first. Let's do that. Okay. Please, please, please, dice gods, be nice to me. I've been rolling really badly and I just really, really, really want this to hit, like, really badly. Amen. Oh. That is going to miss. But it doesn't wake him up because it missed him because he's sleeping. Soar's going to pull back on the notched silver arrow in her brand new bow. And she's going to let this arrow fly into the valley. And it is going to strike the ground. Harmlessly next to the alpha.

The alpha is going to immediately snap to and start to look around the area. And it's going to level its gaze at Sora as the rest of these werewolves are going to wake up. Sora, what would you like to do? But you see, Sora already ran away as the werewolf didn't get to see her. See, that's what actually happened. I'm taking it you're going to turn. Oh yeah, no, I'm running. Okay. Sora's going to turn and start to sprint away the second she sees that this arrow is missed. The wolves are going to get ready and start to give chase and tear their way through this valley.

Sora, do me a favor roll an athletics check. But I don't want to. That does not factor in. I'm going to die. This is it. Okay, that wasn't too bad. Wait. You do not have a 2 for your athletics. I do! Because it hasn't gone up. I always picture you as having more athletics. No, I have acrobatics. Oh, that's true. Like out the wazoo. Okay. Holy lord. Okay. Sora is going to bound over logs. On the way back here. Now Sora is still a pretty damn good distance away from the rest of the party. Are you going to say, is Sora going to say anything or just maybe hopefully try to lose the wolves?

What would be Sora's plan? I mean, the wolves I guess are already coming after me so it doesn't matter if I make noise. I would say like, heads up guys, we got a problem. In a sing-songy voice just like that. That's soothing. Hey guys. Ooh, okay. That's going to buy you just a little bit of time. So these wolves are going to just break neck, clear this valley and then up that slope. Now, Sora is going to get ready and come to a point where one of two things can happen. Either Sora can take the easier route of just running back to where the party is and just try to do as best as she can on foot and that will have the least amount of danger or Sora can try and make a jump for it and clear this little trench.

The longer way around of course would be to run. If Sora clears the trench she is going to get a good distance away from these wolves and she's going to have to use a tree to essentially swing past. However, if she performs poorly she can be in some real danger. If I were to jump over this trench, would it be acrobatics? Ooh, that's... don't tempt me, Jason. Well, shit man. She's going to be like a monkey and swing. Alright, do me a favor. Roll an acrobatics check. Okay, come on. Come on, Sora. You can do this. This you can do. Sora is going to jump to this branch that's over this gap here.

And using this tree branch she is going to swing just using that forward momentum swing to the next branch and then clear this big gap. Let's see what the wolves do. Can they all fall into it? The wolves are not nearly that dexterous and they are going to take the long way around. Sora, do me a favor. Roll another athletics check. You are a good distance ahead of these wolves now, but they could close the gap. Oh wow. Very nice. Sora is going to book it back to the party and after about almost a solid minute of running, Sora is going to make it back to the party and I would say everyone has just a few precious seconds before these wolves arrive.

Is there anything you'd like to do? Close ranks, maybe? Get all of our backs to each other so that we are in a tight little unit and they can't really...okay. It makes sense in my mind but nobody is saying anything. I was waiting for someone else to chime in. Back to back to back to back to back to back. I was thinking more like probably face the direction she came from because that's where they are going to be coming from. Right, but we know about pack tactics. I'd say Sora is kind of out of breath by the time she gets back to the party. She's actually going to not stop, she's just going to keep running past.

Just nope! See ya guys! Change my mind, bye. I regret my actions. I would say Brie would do that thing where as soon as someone crosses like usher her like yeah get to the back and then she would start to charge and get ready. After a few moments, the wolves are going to enter the same patch of ground that you're on and they're going to stop. The alpha is going to stop as soon as he sees Brie and the rest of you are going to be standing there. The wolves are going to start to spread out just a little bit. So they're almost forming a line. And the alpha is going to get ready and lean down.

And guys I think that's a pretty good time for us to stop for the day. Oh my god! Oh my goodness! And the next time we sit down to play we are going to do we're going to do this once and for all. We're playing for keeps. Yes! Oh my god I'm so happy but I hate everyone. Hey everybody out there, Karen's an asshole. I just wanted to let you know. But if you enjoyed today's episode and you've... Keep going. I really want to just kind of keep that in. Do it! But Karen's an asshole? I give you permission. Do you? Okay well then we're going to keep going. Guys if you like the show despite the fact that Karen's being an asshole today and you want to help support us why don't you swing on over to patreon.com/dandr and you can get a bunch of cool content.

For instance the character chat we just did with Jamie. That went up today and we're waiting for people to give some comments on that. And if you do stuff like that we do behind the scenes content for episodes now and a whole bunch of other stuff that you can get for pretty cheap. So if you want to support the show that's a great way to do so. Another way you can support the show is to go to iTunes and give us a 5 star rating or whatever you think we deserve. Give us some comments and feedback on the forums. You can go to Facebook and give us a like. And that will pretty much do it.

So thank you very much for listening and we will see you next week.
