It's insanely helpful to us, 'cause we want to make sure everyone's listening, I guess. So, on top of that, we are working on a full-fledged map that you can see. You can look at all the different cities and ports and towns and all kinds of stuff. All the major landmarks from the podcast.

A professional artist is working with me on that and we hopefully should have it out in the next couple of weeks. We're gonna see. We're working on a big recap episode. So, everything up until now that has happened story-wise will be recapped. That's pretty much it. You can follow us on Facebook, Twitter, all that good stuff. DNR Podcast, Dungeons of Randomness on Facebook. And thank you very much. Enjoy the show. So, we're gonna do introductions here. So, I'm just gonna run down the list and when I say your character name, just hi, I'm blah, blah, blah. Playing the part of Galford.

- Hey, I'm Tyson. I play Galford. I'm a gnome warlock and I really hope I make it away from this dragon alive. And my teammates too. - Playing the part of Rekis. - Hey, it is Brian Cookie Cook. I play the part of Rekis and I'm currently holding my organs in my hand. - Playing the part-- - That includes your hammer. - That includes my hammer. - Your organ. (laughing) - And it begins. - Playing the part of Tala. - I'm Megan. I'm playing Tala. I'm the razor claw druid, the one and only. - Playing the part of Trixie. - Hi, I am Danielle. I play Trixie, the drow assassin and just hope that I don't die either.

- You guys are starting off with a load of optimism. - Oh no, I'm optimistic. Megan's always optimistic. - Playing the part of Baraneth who we're introducing in this very episode. - Hi guys. My name is Alanna. I'm playing Baraneth and I am a elven cleric here to save all your lovely asses. - We finally have a healer. (laughing) - Hey, I thought I was doing a pretty good job up to this point, thank you. - You were actually, yeah. - Thank you. - With your lovely one heal spell. - Hey, that's hit some good ass damage while it was at it. - Sometimes one is all you need.

- Yeah, imagine where we were if she didn't have that one heal spell. - This is true. - He would have not got past the first episode. - Yep, first episode GG guys. - So you guys obviously remember where you were the last time that we played 'cause everyone is hoping they don't die. (laughing) On the last episode, you guys were contracted to steal one of the three dragon statuettes from House Darksbane in the city of Brightport. And you were asked to sneak in and that didn't go as well as it could have because you murdered everyone in your path. - I don't see the problem.

- You murdered everyone in your path all the way into a large vault. And in that vault was a very large young white dragon. You guys got into a fight with it and promptly got your asses kicked. Tala managed to sneak across the room and find out where the dragon statuette was, steal it and you all were booking it back down the hallway towards the front door. Now, instead of making you play through each one of your turns getting down the hallway, my assumption is that you were fleeing that house. - Yep. - Okay, so what we're gonna do is we're going to start out right outside of the house.

You guys have poured out of the front door. - I messed it off. (laughing) - So if you guys wanna place your characters right in here, all you gotta do if you've forgotten how is just drag your character off from the side and plop them somewhere in this vicinity. So it's still late at night in Brightport and most people are asleep. This is a pretty bustling trade port and everything but the only action right now would be down by the docks. They're still receiving ships, things like that. That's kind of a 24 hour gig. You're on the opposite side of Brightport, more of a CD slummy kind of portion of it.

Not abandoned but a lot less populated. And as you guys are racing out of that house, so here's what we're gonna do. I'm gonna give you a choice before we introduce Baranath. What I'm gonna do is this dragon has just, the only way to describe it is burst from the front of this house. You guys come fleeing out the doors, it clean takes the entire entryway with it. - It's splintered the door. - It just shrapnel, wooden shrapnel everywhere. There is no more front of the house. - Like the Kool-Aid man. - Yes. - That shrapnel only applied to metal and splintering would be the wood.

- No, shrapnel could be wood. - Be quiet, Megan. (laughing) - In other words, Megan pissed off the damn dragon, now we're running for our lives. - Yeah, I pissed off. It had nothing to do with everyone else attacking it. - You have two choices. You can either fight or flee. Now, if you fight, you have a wide open space now and you have a better shot at maneuvering around it outside than you did in that house. - Dragons can also fly now. - It absolutely can fly, you are correct, Megan. The other option is there is an alley behind you, which you can run down and see where that would take you.

Now, the drawback to the alley is that if it doesn't lead anywhere and someone's phone goes off. - Danielle. - If that doesn't lead anywhere, then you're stuck in an alley with the dragon. We'll just wait for Danielle a minute. - I don't know what would be the better choice. - Well, the dragon also too can go back to using its ice breath because we're not protected by standing behind that magical barrier. So, I mean, it could fly in the air and blow us all apart, considering we all stood pretty close together. - Yeah, that was the big difference is that back room that we were in was a little bit closer.

So he had a little bit easier time being able to see everybody. I don't know what would be better. I'm not really gonna try to voice a strong opinion for the soul fact that I just wanna do whatever gets me not dead and less bloodied since I'm basically holding parts of my body. - Now what about this fountain? This fountain implies maybe there's some plumbing. Like, is there like a sewer we can jump in and get out, get away from the sky? - You can roll a perception check. - All right. I'm not feeling very perceptive at the moment. - Let me check. - Where's Tala?

(Tala laughs) - Hey Tala, you mind being perceptive here just a sec? - Yeah, she's a plus nine. - Do it. - Okay, let's see how perceptive I am tonight. - I'm 18, I don't know what else. - I think after all that luck getting started, I think we've got a pretty good chance. Let's see, I'm looking at everybody's perception. - Okay. - Mine's plus three. - Baranath and Tala are both, well, before we get to Baranath, I just wanna see what they're gonna do right here. We haven't quite introduced Baranath yet. - Okay, I'll shut up. (all laugh) - You can totally talk.

- Sounds like the water. - Okay, well, I said, you know, it's valid. I'll see how perceptive I am. Not too damn perceptive. - Not incredibly perceptive. So that's a 12. - It's a fountain. - In your- - I think I noticed there's a fountain that much I don't notice. - In your completely frightened state. - Yeah. - You glance around quickly and the only thing you see is the alley. And there's a nice wide open space here, which looks kind of like a small meeting place, maybe a market during the daytime. People will bring their carts out and sell their wares. A little fountain here next to a small like a canal in the city.

Other than that, you don't see any sewer grates or anything like that in the immediate area. Would anybody- - Okay. Alternative solution there. - Well, I was gonna say I have a plus three, so I don't know if it would be worth- - To what? - Perception or canal. - Oh, you get, yeah. - If we wanna give it another shot, I mean. - It can't hurt. - Okay, I'll roll it. Probably not much better. - 16, about the same. You don't notice anything. It's pretty much the alley or this wide open space. Like you're, you don't see any exits or anything like that in the immediate area.

- So the dragon's immediately aware of where we are or it's like just bursting through the door so we have a few seconds. - You guys have, you have a few seconds. You have just like burst out of the front door running and he's just burst out of the front of the house. - Okay, third option, guys. Couldn't we technically jump into the canal and then it would have lost our scent? - Or it'll freeze the canal while we're swimming in it and we're all toast. - He couldn't freeze the entire canal at a young age, I don't think. - We don't know that. - He might be able to freeze the spot you're in though.

- Ah, popsicles. - Ding. (laughing) - I think it's, I don't think we're gonna try to fight it. I think that's pretty clear. - If we get formed. - We tried fighting. - Sorry, go ahead, Brian. - Well, I was gonna say we tried fighting it in that room and we really didn't have a lot of luck. It basically turned into a, hey, run into that room, grab the stuff and let's go. So I think it's probably either we jump into the canal or we jump into the alley. - I don't even know, is the alley on the map that we're looking at right now? - It would be like down in this vicinity down here.

So the canal is about waist deep and from what you see, it just leads further into the city. - Well, out of curiosity, this alley that we're not sure about, does it lead between like houses? I mean, is there a way for us to know if we're dragging this dragon into a very populated area or is it just like between two buildings that have been left? - You can't see that far ahead. - Oh, okay. - Under that perception rule, I'm afraid. So you do see that there's an alley, it kind of rounds around the corner. It's definitely away from the dragon, that's as much as you know.

- I think the alley's probably gonna be our best bet. If we get cornered in the alley though, we'd probably be toast 'cause we'd be right there and it would be aiming right out all of us with the ice breath. - There is that, but here's an alternative question though. Is the alleyway from what we could tell wide enough for the dragon to even actually get through it? - It's okay. - 'Cause it certainly couldn't fly in the alley. - No, no, no, no. It would have to basically nuke that whole area. If we're gonna do that, it would just be this huge strafing run.

- The alley is fairly large. It's definitely wide enough for it to squeeze into, but there really wouldn't be a lot of maneuverability and there are tons of alleyways connecting Brightport. So like if you remember Graddock, the gnome. That's the way he gets around is by running down back alleys and things. There's tons of alleys that interconnect to different places in Brightport. - Alley's the best bet, I'll take off. - The canal, if we stealth, could we jump into the canal and get below the surface of the water and hold our breath long enough, hoping that the dragon takes off in a different direction?

Or is it just like major sewage and we don't wanna be jumping ahead? - We also have to think about the fact that we don't know where the dragon will go after, like if we hide in the alley, it's gonna go into town. We also have to realize that we're gonna be hiding from this dragon, but we're gonna eventually have to probably deal with it or someone will have to deal with it. This is a rally, I have no idea what's gonna happen. - However, we still have the gold dragon, so hopefully if we make it into town, somebody from one of the other houses would be around and we'd be like, "Hey, you guys want this?

"Give us a hand and you know." - We'll let you have it. - We send them to get killed by the dragon and we book it the hell out of there. - I think we probably just should try for the alley. - The alley? - I'm thinking the alley because, yeah, fair enough, it is a young dragon, but as far as we'd have to run in the few seconds we would have, I don't think we would make it into the canal without it seeing us first. - That's probably a safe bet. - He's making it seem like the alley is closer for us to get to in the few seconds before the dragon could glance us.

- Those are your much more immediate options, the canal stealth, like trying to stealth like immediately outside, like it's very risky and then if one of you fails the stealth check, you are in water. He's an ice dragon. - So when I failed the stealth check. - When your bulky tank fails that stealth check, yeah. - Riekith has two left feet, so. - Yeah, Riekith will be floating face down in the canal in no time. - So I'm thinking we go an alley. - I'm going for the alley. - Let's go for the alley. - All of you make the conscious effort to sprint towards that alley as quickly as possible.

You hear the building explode behind you and then you hear several seconds of just the clattering of wooden shards and shrapnel just fall to the ground and then you hear stomping. And it is coming directly for you. - Sprinting down the alley, you knock down an elf woman. You just completely hockey check her, just completely, like just rounding the corner smashing into her. - Oops. - What the fuck? (laughing) - That's not very elven like, let alone cleric like. - Okay, you and I are gonna talk about what's elven like when you knock me over. - I'm not an elf, I don't have to be elven.

- And you all kind of scurry back up to your feet and you're dragging her along while I'm sure she wants to talk about what just happened. You're telling her it's probably better if we run. Now, this way. And you sprint into the alley. Hold on, that's the other back alley. That's the alley we want. - Hey, I like transporting to that one, that was kind of nice. - Yeah, that was a nice alley. - That was a nice back alley. - Surprise, I can transport us anywhere. - So if you wanna slide yourselves right in this region right here, and let me slide the dragon right there.

- Let's not, and say you did. (laughing) - So stupid. - Let me set the dragon. - Oh, it's gonna hit me first. (laughing) - Let me set the dragon at the same amount of hit points he was at before. There we go. - This is like the big CGI chase scene in the movie. Like the CG dragons just destroying everything all Michael Bay style. - Hey, Michael Bay, give me a little more credit than Michael Bay. - Yeah, actually you're a much better storyteller than Michael Bay. - Thank you. I wouldn't have ruined Transformers, nevermind. I'm not gonna get no Transformers red.

So here are your options. You have run into this alley, and on the far end of it, there's a large, like a large fence. So that way is barred, that's barred to you. I mean, this is pretty much a dead end, except for a large sewer pipe, which is just spraying the city's waste into a canal that leads to the sewers. Yeah, so your options are basically-- - Icky or Die. - Right, the options are sewer or dragon. Now, in the few seconds that it's taken you to get here, you're hearing alarm bells go off in the city. Which is, that's basically telling you that the town guard has been alerted to this.

And you may get some backup. So it's totally up to you what you would like to do. - Well, anybody feel like for an underground excursion? - Yeah, I'm thinking like, the only thing I'm thinking about is, May doesn't sound really great. May getting, maybe getting backup. If we hide, we have the prospect of being able to, A, get out of the dragon site, assumingly, well, I mean, it will see us go into the pipe, but it won't be able to follow us. B, when the town guard eventually gets here, we'll be able to go, "Hey, what golden dragon? We didn't steal anything." - "I don't know what you're talking about," said the lawful good guy.

- Well, and you know, genuinely we could do that because no one really actually saw us go into there, and anyone who did is dead. - Yeah. - So no one could prove we were ever there? - And then again, this is coming from the perspective of the guy that's bloody, so. - This is still considered an encounter, right? - Not, I mean, you guys are still at the same health, and it'll be a new, it would kind of be a new encounter, basically. - Okay. - Yeah. - Have I got time to whip off another ghost sound to see if the dragon will turn around while we run into the pipe?

The other thing I was worried about is like, you know, Ricus is gonna get poo water in his wounds. Is he gonna get poisoned or infected by running into the sewage pipe with his guts hanging out? - Well, let me tell you, you guys have no idea what's in that sewer. - Yeah, that's the other thing. - No idea what's in that sewer. You know almost nothing about this city. You know nothing about what could be in that terrible, like the sewer, just a regular sewer would be terrible. - I feel like we're more likely to survive in the sewer than we are to if we stay here with the dragon.

- There might be a race of friendly mutants down there, like Futurama, I don't know. - Hey, if it's anything like Skyrim, then I would like to go into the sewers, 'cause I have my band of thieves down there. I'm totally okay with that. - Now, what about the sewer grate that's in front of Tala? We're better off to just head for the pipe. - Well, you'd have to struggle with the grate and lift it up and do all that, whereas the pipe is already open. - Readily available. - Yeah. - Okay. Are we going to Super Mario? - Well, yeah, I was gonna say, the only other question I would have is if once we get, well, hmm.

I think we all agree that we're probably gonna go with the pipe. We're all going Super Mario on this one. - Yep. - So the thing I'm worried about is if that dragon just manages to get down to that pipe and stick his head right into the pipe and do an ice breath. Oh, man. Okay, well, nevermind. I don't even know what my question was. I started out really strong, and then it slowly trailed off. - I think I can understand where your question was going. I'm not sure if this is actually where your question was going, but it does bring up an interesting point.

Like, once we got in there, would we be far enough in for, if the dragon did get to us and breathed, would it be able to reach us? Which, to my understanding, last I checked how dragons worked, the answer would generally probably be no, because first of all, it's young, and second of all, its attack is a cone. So it would essentially go in a straight line, but it would only go out so far in the first place. - It seems like we've got a decent amount of space between us with the dragon, and we could book it in there, and maybe I would get lucky that it would turn its head if I did a ghost sound behind him.

He did turn last time we did that. - Well, so he hears the sirens, most likely, so maybe it could sound... - I mean, he might be a little more, he's a little more distracted now, too, 'cause there's all stuff going on in the city and blah, blah, blah, and so... - Oh, he's not distracted. - No, he's so loose. - Yeah, he looks like he's ready, like we walked through the wrong neighborhood, kind of anger. - You took his shit and ran from the house. He is not distracted. - Yeah, he has a very small hoard and I took it all. (laughs) - So he actually, I was gonna say, he actually comprehends the fact that we took stuff from him, like he just-- - Oh, dragons are smart, man.

- Dragons are very intelligent creatures. - Okay. - Megan gone dumb pissed him off now. - You stole his shit, he's not happy about that. - He's not happy with you guys attacking him either. - Technically. - And now we've knocked over a beautiful brunette elf and we're gonna drag her into some poo water. It's a good way to start the relationship. - It's your first date. (laughing) - Okay, let's just all, I think we'll take a vote. All in favor of going into the poopy water, say aye. - Aye. - Aye. - Warp pipe. - All righty. You guys pile into this incredibly disgusting pipe.

There's all kinds of liquids and solids in there, it's-- - Ew. (laughing) - Without going into further description, it is the worst thing you've ever smelled. The pipe itself goes back about 15 feet and then it drops off. I'm gonna need everybody to, who's holding the, Tal is holding the dragon. - Yes. - Oh, okay. I want everybody to make an athletics check please. - Ooh, I'm actually good with athletics, I think. Yeah, plus 11. - Oh. Yeah. - Oh, shoot. - Athletics or acrobatics? - Athletics. - Athletics, oh shit. - That's gonna be great news for me. Yeah, it was.

- And Tala tumbles head first into the-- - Looks like we're moving out of town. - Oh, you're not gonna like this, okay. - Am I doing this to you? - Yeah. - Oh boy, okay, so what do I do? I hit D20. - D20. - D20 plus, what is your athletics skill? - Zero. - Oh, zero, oh wow. This should be fun. Sixteen, wow. (laughs) That's fine, okay. Anyone who rolled a 15 or under, you're gonna wanna listen up. Okay, so you all trip over yourselves getting into this pipe only to find that there's a drop off at the end of it. You all fall off the end of it and, let me move to the next, here we go.

All right, so you wanna place your characters right here in the muck, please. - Yeah, muck. - The pipe itself, after the drop off, you all come spilling out the other side. Some of you were able to shift your weight at the last second and kind of land on your knees or feet and you cushion the blow. Those of you who rolled under a 15, tumbled face first. - Ew. - Out of. - My mouth was open. - And you landed in a canal of filth, just liquid filth. - Solid filth. - Tala after she fell dropped the dragon she was carrying. - Dumbass. (laughing) - At least it was after I fell, not before I got into the damn grate.

- No, that would have worked. No, it did not break. - It's gold, it's not gonna. - It did land in this canal and the current is taking it towards the center. This sewer, for those of you who can't see at home, leads into kind of an intersection of filth and it gets taken to different places. So there's kind of this whirlpool in the center of crap that gets filtered in. So the dragon itself is being drug into that center. - Who's got some good acrobatics to make a big dive into the poo water to save the dragon? - I have a plus 11. Not that I wanna go into the poo water, but I was about to say.

- I'll give you three guesses. - It's up to you, do you wanna make a dive for it? - If we let that thing flush, she's gonna salt her pot. - Given that I make the dive, - I was gonna say, what does she have to lose if she doesn't get it? I mean, outside of the dragon, of course, but like, I think it's probably worth the chance. - I'll go ahead and do it. I already have a face full of poop anyways. - Poopy water. (laughing) Poopy water. - I like intersection of filth. That sounds like a- - Intersection of filth. I was trying to come up with a better way. It's like, it's really shitty down here, guys.

I was trying to, 24, fantastic. You leap forward and at the last second, even though you have to splash back down into this disgusting sewer water, water's in quotations here, you grab the dragon at the last second. So you guys are still in possession of this dragon, which would put you about, let's say here. The bad news, this sewer is infested with swarms of rats. - Of course it is. - And let's just make these rats visible to you. - I want you guys- - You know what I'm doing? We just outran a dragon and now we have to face rats. (laughing) - Let me have ice breath.

- No, no, none of these rats have ice breath. That is, you guys wanna go ahead and roll initiative? - I don't wanna roll initiative. I don't get any bonuses on initiative. - Alana, do you need, so if you look at your character and you go to details, right under that, you'll see your max hit points, your surges per date, the little number there initiative two. So you'd roll a D 20 plus two and that's your initiative. - All right, here we go. - All right, let's see here, 22 for Tala. - I quit. - You saved the dragon from getting flushed, so. (laughing) - Galford got a 21.

And let's see here. - I have a feeling I'm gonna be using a healing surge. Even though we're facing rats, I wanna take the opportunity to, you know, not be holding my organ anymore. - These aren't just rats, it's swarms of rats. Like, I mean, there's rats everywhere. - Are there more than what we're seeing right now? - I'm talking, each one of those signifies a pack of rats. (soft music) Let's see here, what? - We stumbled upon a rat reunion. - Oh, rat. Cookie got a 19. - Yeah. - And Trixie got a 16, that's not bad. - And the Ninja Turtles just bust out of nowhere and save our ass.

- See, the rats didn't roll that well. There we go, okay. - Tali, you're gonna go first. - Tali. - Take your time. - Yeah, my big thing is here, like I'm pretty sure druids have the ability to talk to animals. - You wanna tell them that they're gonna die or? - Pretty much. - Okay, like that's nice. That's, that's- - Well, not like to intimidate them. I mean like, there is a dragon, big, scary monster that way. We're the least of your problems. - She's gonna tell them there's cheese in the whirlpool. - That's a great idea. - That is a really good idea. - Unless you're Tom.

- Be nice to Tom. - What would you like to do here? (humming) - Oh, like I said, I wanna try and tell them that- - I don't know if you can do that. - You wanna do that? I was gonna say. - I don't know if you can do that. Let me see here. That might be a 3.5 thing you're trying to pull. - And they're swarming too. So they're just like crawling all over each other and like just coming at us in a big wave of like fur and poo. - How many are in a swarm? Is it just like six, seven, eight, nine, 20? - Like packs of 10 or so. - Okay. - I mean, one swing from your hammer, you can probably squash several with your hammer.

- That's what I'm thinking. Like that's, I'm just gonna walk up and go, hi rats, meet Hammer. - See, that's what makes swarms so interesting though, because they are a little tougher to hit because it's a swarm. It's like one fly isn't a big deal. Like if you- - But I have to do like, is it just one damage roll or is it like- - How do you mean? - Like when you actually go to attack, are you attacking each individual rat in the swarm? - Each one is a swarm. So you're saying I'm attacking that swarm or I'm attacking that swarm. Like it's, yeah, you're not attacking each individual rat in the swarm.

- Okay. Are you double checking to see if we can't say hey rats. - I'm looking that up 'cause it doesn't say anything on her character like that where she can communicate. I think that would be like a nature check. So go ahead and make a nature check. We'll see if you can do it. You should have a pretty high nature. - Yeah, I have a nine for nature. So hopefully it'll do something. And roll that. Ash, why on every other role besides initiative do I roll poorly? Does anyone else notice this? I roll fantastically on initiative, but you know. - You wanna be the first one to get your ass beat, that's all.

- Well, I just wanna, noted, the listeners probably might be able to figure that out, but I'm pretty sure Talos bit the first person on for at least our group to go and have the highest initiative almost every single time that we've gone into combat. - These rats are not convinced by your pleas. - Well, gee, I wonder why. - It was a very poor argument you put up to these rats. What would you like to do here? - Go flush yourself. - I'm looking at like my range basic attack, but how far does it go out, it doesn't say. - I think we determined 10 last time, didn't we?

- It depends on what, do you have a ranged weapon? - No, that's why I was partially confused. I'm like, when did I get a range weapon? - Well, you don't have a range weapon, that's what I'm saying. - Throw the hoop. - It just throws that in there. If you don't have a range weapon, it doesn't have a range 'cause you don't have a weapon. So unless you wanna throw your main weapon at it, I wouldn't recommend it, but. - No, I wouldn't recommend that either. - You should turn into a monkey, throw your poop and have them totally confused. - You know what, there's a thought there.

Why don't I turn into like a human sized rat and see if I run, it'll start falling me. - My God, they're rats, just attack. - Just smash their heads. - Like I get the dragon, I get you being afraid of the dragon and everything, but if we're gonna approach every bit of combat like this, this is gonna take a while. - I'm too far away to really do anything. I don't have any really range except for the one flame attack and I'd rather not use that just to. - I was gonna say, then you could move like right there or something like that. - I'm sure they're gonna come for us.

- Yeah, they're gonna approach us on their turn. - Well, fine, I'll just move forward and then hold my action. - We love you. - Why the game is rigged to have Tala roll really good initiative is so we can pad the hours of the podcast. - It's like an old anime where the first like four minutes is just intro. - Yeah, she's like powering up like DBC for like five minutes - Galford, your turn. - Okay, I am going to move, I can move five, one, two, three. - Four, just wanna make sure I've got a line of sight to, guess I'd have to move here, right? And then do I have line of sight to this swarm here?

- Sure do. - Okay, and then I will use shadow clause it's standard action range 10 and it's charisma versus fortitude though for to see if it lands. - Okay, what is your charisma? - It's D20 plus seven is my attack. - 13. - Versus what? Fortitude, that hits, nice. - Totally hits. - So one D10. (soft music) - Okay, 15 damage and if it's still alive it takes cold damage equal to two plus my dexterity modifier or intelligence modifier on its next turn. - Okay, cool. All right, and rat swarm number four. Let's see here, I want to. - Would it, so number one just took 15 damage and still alive?

- Yes. - Okay. - Like some of the rats in the swarm died but the rest are still alive. Let's see here. These rats scurry up here and Baraneth your turn. I think she muted herself. - Sorry, I was on mute. - Okay, so I can move and then I can use one of my powers. Yeah? - Yes. - Okay, so I guess I'm gonna move six 'cause my speed is six. - Yes. - One, two, three, four, six. And I'm gonna use my. - You have some like radiant stuff, don't you? Like where you can be all holy and stuff and the rats might be ashamed of the way they've lived their life. (laughing) - Well, I don't have like, I don't have a ranged weapon.

- You don't have a ranged weapon, but you have spells. So some of your spells can, let's see here. Let's see, one of your powers. Ranged basic attack. So you don't really have, yeah. So a lot, actually a lot of your stuff is. - Is melee. - Yeah, a lot of your stuff is melee, so. - I think I've got my, let's see, I've got my astral seal here. Standard action. - It's a ranged five. - Five, I'm still too far away. - Yeah, you guys might just have to spend around closing the gap and then having at it. - Can you get right up next to a swarm with six more moves? You probably could.

- You can move twice, you know, if you're not gonna use an action. - Okay, so what do you think? Should I just move them? - Yeah, go for it. 'Cause if you move, and also if you move next to a rat swarm, I mean, they're probably gonna attack you on their next turn, but you do have some melee based stuff that would respond in kind. - Who, which rat swarm just moved? Was it four? - This one right here. - Yeah, four just moved. - Four. - Four just moved. One's already been injured. So basically what we're saying is the hot brunette elf that we just met and rolled in the poop with, we're telling her to run head first into a swarm of rats for us.

- Done. - I love you. - Rikus, your turn. - Oh, okay. So I'm gonna move up like. - Do you wanna heal yourself? - Yeah, I was gonna say, this might sound stupid. I can move up and then use a healing surge, right? - Sure. - Yeah, that's what I'm gonna do. I'm gonna move up. - You got any options left? - Tala has one. - Do I have any? I must not have any in my. - She found three in the, you used one last time. Tala used two of the three she found in that room. - Yep, selfish. - Well, she kind of needed them. - I think I deserve them, sorry. - I have two potions of light wound.

- Yes, you wanna use one of those or one of your? - Which one gives me more HP? - They're both gonna be the same. The only difference is that the potion is a minor action. So that's like, if you were, excuse me, let's say you move and attack and you wanna gain hit points, like the potions are used for that. Like since you're just moving, then you can just pop a surge if you want. Save the potions. - And we'll just pop a surge. I mean, yeah, we'll just pop a surge. - All right, and one surge. - Or so then. - Perhaps. - If you snuggle up next to Baraneth eventually too, she does have some healing.

That's if she's willing to do that considering we just knocked her down and dragged her through. - Considering we just ran into her, knocked her down, dragged her through poop water, and now we're like, hey, by the way, we're not gonna give you an explanation. - To be fair, we could have left her to the dragon. - Terrible introduction, terrible introduction. Trixie. - I guess I'll move forward. Hold on, what's my speed? So if my speed is six, can I move six? - Yes. - 12, you're not gonna take an action. - Have you got some ranged and you could lay into Rat Swarm one again?

See if we could take one of them off the board before they get there. - I do have a ranged basic attack. - Okay. - I was gonna say, Alfred, are you going to try to attack Swarm one? I'm just planning my next movement ahead. - I guess depending on where the rats go, because I do have a burst one that would help. So if they get all bitey on Baranath, I can maybe burst. - Well, I was gonna say, because I'm just planning ahead and I was probably gonna squeeze in right there and smash some heads. - Yeah, that sounds good. - Oh yeah, go snuggle up to Baranath there and then I'll either burst or I'll hit ranged.

But anyway, sorry, let's let Trixie take her turn here. - Trixie, sorry, I wanted to make sure I wasn't gonna forget that and I didn't wanna interrupt Galphurt during this game. - That's like Galphurt's specialty is like just nosing himself into everybody else's turn. - All right, so I'm just gonna go ahead and do my ranged basic attack since I'm like two squares away or a square away. Okay, that was wonderful. 13 will miss. - Of course it will. - Rat swarm number three is going to sign up right next to Trixie. - Hey. - And it's gonna use swarm of teeth.

That's a D six, no, that's a D 20. - It's like getting bit by my hamster again. - Fucking 12, okay, that's probably gonna miss you. - Yay. - On everything, yeah, okay. I just love how we went from outrunning a dragon to now we're taking on little Rat. So cute. - Yeah, they'll be cute when they're in your face. That's so cute. - It's like Ratatouille, they're just gonna make us dinner and we'll like. - D 20 plus six, Rat swarm number two just sidled up next to Baranath and they're gonna try and take a bite out of her. 10, wow, these are shitty rolls. Rats, come on, get it together.

- I mean, they live in poop, what are you expecting? - And Rat swarm number one is gonna go right after, right down here to Trixie. And as soon as the Skype notification gets out of my way, there we go. And one more time to Trixie, 25. - Ouch. - Asshole. - I hate rats. - Wow. Okay, so that's gonna be a D six plus three. Eight, so eight damage to Trixie. - Great. - Yeah, you just lost like a nipple or something there. That was bad. Trixie's bloodied. - Thank you. - And we're back to Tala. - All right, come see me. - Let's see there. - I'll come save you. - Come on buddy, save me, leave the bread alone.

- Hold on, let me double check this. Okay, since I'm gonna save you, I definitely don't need... (dramatic music) I'll move up and use the D six. And use Savage Rend and Rat Pack number three. - Okay. - Rat Pack. - The Rat Pack, yes. - Yeah. But Rat Pack's funnier. See everyone kinda laughed lamely, but they did laugh. - I picture them all doing Sammy Davis Jr. soft shoe. - Oh, shit, fucks, really? - Shit, fucks, indeed. - I said save me, not scares me. I tell you, any other role that's not initiative, it's gonna suck. - Okay, you guys are encased in rats right now.

They are all over you. - All the girls are up front. I'm noticing a pattern here. - I'm killing myself and I'm about to... - Nevermind. - So we're gonna unleash your hammer on them. - Galford, your turn. - Okay, I'm gonna move next to Braneth here and use Unsealy Sprites, close burst two and it's Charisma versus Reflex. - Okay. 12, that's gonna miss. Roll one more time for the second swarm of rats. (dramatic music) 25, much better. So we'll just go down, so that hit four, let's say. Go ahead and roll damage, sir. - Okay, 1D6 plus six. - Big money, big money. No whammies, no whammies.

- 12. - And also takes poison damage equal to my Intelligence modifier, which is one. - One, okay. - So... - 13 damage. - Yeah, pretty good, pretty good. Rats swarm number four, which you just hit, is as a collective, they're gonna try and bite you in the face now. They talked it over. - Didn't I say a face full of rats? I totally said that. - Eight, not with rolls like that. Braneth, your turn. But here's the problem. Each one of these rats has an aura, and everyone who starts their turn within the one burst aura that it has gets attacked by every rat pack that is in that aura.

So you're gonna get attacked by both of these packs of rats. They get a free swing at you. Rat pack number four, 16 versus your AC, that's gonna miss. And then rat pack number two, 12, that's gonna miss. So go ahead. Way to rat dodge. - Okay, it's me, yeah? - Yep. - Yeah. - Praise be to you Evan. - Yep. - I'm gonna use my... - Someone's stealing my catch phrases. - She was doing that earlier too, we were getting ready for the show and she was saying yeah a lot. Tala's influence is far- - It was either that or like, where my Canadian, eh? (laughing) - What's this all about?

Anyway. - Sorry. - I'm using my, I'm trying to play, I'm using my sunburst. - Okay. - So that's a D20 plus nine. - Okay, let me see here, does that attack several things or just one thing? - It targets one creature. - Okay, so which pack do you wanna target? - I hit four, right? - Yeah, I don't know. - Which one's taken more damage out of both of them? - Four. - Four. - Do we wanna- - Is it gonna eliminate one or just damage another? 'Cause I'm gonna- - They're gonna get a free bite every round though, so getting rid of one probably makes more sense. - Yeah, it's like go for four.

- Otherwise it's just gonna get up all bitey in our faces. - But I'm gonna gain five temporary hit points. - Right. - And so is Galford. So let's, okay, so let's hit two. - Uh, okay. - That's round number two. - 19, that'll hit. - Excellent. - So then roll damage, it's a D10 plus five. - Okay, D10. - Wow, nice, 12. - I think our dice are partial to brunettes, is what I think. (laughing) - It's hating bald guys today, man, I can't roll for shit. I don't know what's going on. - So, okay, you, what is that, you and each ally within five squares of you gain five temporary hit points.

So that's you, Galford, Tala, everybody. Everybody gets five temporary hit points. - Yay! - I like that move. - You're welcome. - I knew I ran into you for a reason. (laughing) - It was fate. - Literally running into you. See, that's nice to have a healer, guys. Could have used that with the whole dragon thing. - Shh, I don't wanna talk about it. - You don't wanna talk about it. You don't wanna talk about it. - I'm just imagining how that's gonna go when we actually get out of here. - You're probably like, hey, were you here when the dragon came out? And we were gonna be like, yeah, we let him out.

- Yeah, I was gonna tell them that. - So when we finally get to watch the food. - Encounter powers. Encounter, okay, so is that a one timer or can I use that again? - That is, oh wait, sorry, I checked off the wrong one. That is a one time for this encounter. As soon as you're out of this encounter, then that recharges and you're good. Riek is your turn. - I'm gonna move one, two, three, four, five. - Okay. - Then can I attack? - Sure can. - Yeah, I'm gonna attack that rat pack number three. With my basic melee attack, which is D20 plus nine. - Okay. - 23. - 23 will hit.

- And we're gonna clear that out. And then it's one D plus eight. We're gonna hammer it down. - This is like a home run swing and you're just hitting the rats into the walls kind of thing. - 10, 10 damage. So you are just striking your hammer into the ground and you're catching like three, four rats in a clip. - Whack-a-mole. - And just squashing them on this dirty sewer floor. Meanwhile, the rest of the rats in that pack are just swarming and scurrying around. Trixie, your turn, but because you're starting your turn within the vicinity of those two rats, they're gonna attack you.

Rat pack number one rolls a 22 and rat pack number three rolls a nine. So you're gonna take... - A little bit of damage? - One D six plus three, eight damage. - Okay. - And now it's your turn. - Can I do a healing surge first? - You can, but that'll be your action. - I would probably like, I don't know how tallow will feel, but I might move behind us a little bit and then do your healing surge. - Can I get away without getting hurt? - You can shift one square away. - You could, I'm trying to think like logistically, you could like pull right there maybe. I know that's like putting tallow right smack in front of having the defender.

I'm just trying to think because I don't wanna have to deal with how that first battle we ever had, we were, I think we were trying to save tallow. So I'm just trying to prevent us from having to manage to make sure our teammate doesn't die along with. - Well, and Rick is, you might be able to flank if you can get on the other side of the rods, you and tallow could flank. - That's what I'm thinking is if she goes here, I can swing around here and take her spot. - That's not flanking. - Yeah, wouldn't you have to be like kind of surrounding it, like be right here if you were gonna flank?

- Yep. - Oh yeah. - So if I move, can I use a healing surge after that? And that'd be it or okay. I wanna use one of my healing surges then. - All right, one of your healing surges. - Trying to get mathematical on here just because I don't wanna have to try to heal somebody or have to play doctor. - You're still bloody, but you are up to 14. - Okay, I'm halfway there. - Ratsworm number three is going to lunge forward and bite at tallow. - I was the one that swung at him. - So that's nine damage. - Didn't we just show up her face from black teeth? - We did. - Are you bloody kidding me?

- Oh, I accidentally added hit points. Well, that's not right, is it? - No, that's right, that's good. - Cart blade, cart blade. - There we go, now you're bloodied. - Well, since I'm bloodied now. - Ratsworm number two is going to lunge forward at Baranath again. 23. Oh, these rats, man, they just... Oh wow, 10 damage. - Not gonna hurt her too badly though. - One party, we do not survive much. - Ratsworm number one is also gonna bite at tallow. So D20 plus six. - But you remember that one time I proposed that Sixy hide behind you. - That's 25, that'll hit. So D6 plus three, eight.

Oh my God. - Our entire group is just gonna have like facial scars. Like everybody's just gonna have this gnarled face. - Shut up. - All these bites we're taking. - I'm gonna tell you guys, you could have died heroically in the city square defending the city from a dragon. You're gonna die unmourned and unloved in the sewers surrounded by rats. - And poop. - And poop. Rats covered in poop. - That's how you said poop. If we had spent any more time with that dragon, I would have been surrounded with my own poop. - Ha, no. - And that's the kind of clever wordplay we keep you around for.

- Yes, my Gnome bloomers would be full. - Tala, you are down to eight hit points and it's your turn. - Okay, well then as a minor action, I shall go Razorclaw shift, which gives me an armor class bonus and increases my speed by two for now. - What's the AC bonus? - It's just a plus one. - Okay, that'll help. - However, against my better judgment, I'm gonna stick it out right here where I am. I'm gonna try and use Grasping Claws. So that's D, I do have one left, but I wouldn't want it. But that's my turn. And then they'll just both attack me again. - That's a minor, potions are a minor.

- I already used a minor action though. - That's, oh, you did, yeah, that's right. - Oh, yeah, that's right. - To increase my armor class because I'm bloodied. - You could have used a potion and you wouldn't have to worry about it. - Trixie standing right behind Tali going, "Dumbass." - Yeah, you're the dumbass that you were treated behind me. Yeah, who's the dumbass? - That's pretty smart 'cause I'm not dead yet. - That's a good point. - You may be missing a nipple, but you still got your brain. - Hey now. - Hey, why has my nipple gotta be gone? What the hell?

- Okay, let's see what the dumbass does. - I'm gonna go one, two, three, four, five, six. - Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. - Where are you going? - Where are you going? - The dumbass is leaving y'all. - Well then those rats get an opportunity attack. - Yeah, remember that? You can't run more than one square. You can try to go. - What do you mean where the? - You can only shift away. - I thought it was on their turn. - No. - No, no. - They get a free swing at you. - Yeah. - I would shift back behind Rikus here. - It's the equivalent of being in a fist fight and then just turning your back and starting to walk away from that person.

They're gonna punch you in the back of the head. - So we're giving them a human intelligence is what you're telling me, which I don't understand. - Not necessarily. - Take it up with Wizards of the Coast, lady. - I would, I would love to. Wait, no, I can take it up with you 'cause we're playing 4.0. We're playing 3.5. - Okay, we're not getting into this argument again. - Shh, shh, shh, shh. - Just step away. - It's okay. - Let's go. - It's okay. - Little baby. - She's mad with rat fever. - Don't listen to her guys. She's got malaria or something. - Just gonna show you with hammer.

- Wait, what? - Galford, your turn. - All right, Unseelie Sprites again, standard action. Close burst two on both of the rat swarms there. - Ooh, you can't use Unseelie Sprites, sir. - Oh, there's only one per encounter? - Yep. - One per encounter. - Okay. - Okay, are you paying attention? - Fascinating Shadow, standard action, close blast five. Would they both be in the blast? - Yeah, true. - Yeah, okay. 'Cause it's going out from me in a cone essentially, but they're close enough that I could hit both in the blast. 'Cause it wouldn't be a burst, it'd be a blast.

- Yeah, yeah. It'd be coming out. Well, I think you have to pick one actually in this case because it'll radiate out. Like it'll either radiate out from this corner of you or this corner of you. So you're picking one basically. - Okay, so rat swarm four would get the next turn anyways in the initiative. So if I did actually kill it, it might save me or Baranath from getting our faces all bitten. I mean, they're gonna get a free shot at me anyways, but okay, so fascinating shadows on rat swarm four. - Okay. - What is with all these people or these bad guys liking our faces?

Like they don't have knees or toes or anything. They have to go to their face. - Oh, you guys gotta imagine these rats are all over you. Like as Rika swings his hammer down, some of them are just on the handle of the hammer. They're all over you, running up your legs, all that stuff. - You have rats on your hammer. - These are the damn intelligent rats, let me tell you. - I got ointment for that. I mean. So whose turn is it? - Yeah. You're getting like the rat circumcision here. (laughing) - 19. - 19 versus, well that'll hit anything, it's fine, 19. - One D8 plus six.

- It just gave me a weird. - You also use, okay, I could pull the target, but I can't do that. One D8. Big money. - 11. 11 will do some damage and make that rat swarm bloodied. So there's lots of dead rats and rat blood, but there's still a bunch of rats in that swarm. Is that all, did you wanna move? - I could shift one and they would only get a, they wouldn't get a bite at me. - Correct. - Okay, I'll just move back one. - Okay. - And it is rat swarm number four's turn. He's gonna move, he's gonna shift forward one. - It's gonna be moving, oh hey, now. - He saw through my plan there.

(laughing) - And he's gonna take a bite at you, man. He's none too pleased. 25. - I'm gonna hug your face. - 25 and eight damage. - Alfred, you should have covered your face. - Yeah. - Bam, that is rat swarm number four's turn. Brandon, it's your turn. - Okay, so we're gonna do singing strike against rat swarm two. - Okay. - D20 plus nine. - 16 will hit. - All right, so D10. - Big money, big money. - Is five. - Ooh, I remember this power, this is a good one. - Okay. - 14, 14 damage, fantastic. - And also a target takes a minus two penalty to attack rolls until the end of your next turn.

- It sure does. Rat swarm number two is also bloodied and yep, negative two, two there. Let me add a condition to that so that I remember. - Yeah, gnome elf fist bump, we're taking him down. - All right, moving. - Boom. And you're moving backwards, good, good. - Riek is your turn. Oh, and since it's your turn, these rat swarm here is going to take a bite at you. - Okay, I was gonna move, but of course you have to do that. I'm just gonna move one square. - 24. - Ow. - And nine damage. - Hey. - That's the max damage it can do. - Wait, both of them actually do that?

- No, you're only in the vicinity of one of them. - Oh, 'cause you rolled twice, okay, okay, now I see that. - I didn't realize the second roll was just the damage. - Yep. - Okay, I'm gonna move up just so I'm smack dab in front of them. - Okay. - And then, okay, so I'm gonna do the ruin of undead, I can't see the rest of it. It's right under ruin amending, but it's a close burst three and then it's D20 plus nine. And then if I miss, and then they're both gonna, both of those rat packs are gonna be in the burst, correct? - Close burst three, yes. - So if I miss, it's half damage.

- Yes, okay. 21, that is for three, so that hits three, now roll for one. - 25. - 25, you hit both of them. - Bam. - Now roll damage. It's a D10 plus eight. - God, I hope I get a big roll. - Come on, Cookie. - 16. - Nice, 16 is fantastic, all right. So there is rat paste. Yeah, there's lots of dead rats, guys, lots of dead rats. - And then this one is for rat pack number one. - Oh no, the damage is just flat. - Okay, sweet. - And let's see here, the burst creates a zone that lasts until the end of your next turn. You and your allies gain a plus two power bonus to all defenses within that zone.

So there you go, guys. And it's Trixie's turn. You are out of the way of the rat swarm so they don't get a free attack against you. - So at this point, would I have to do a ranged attack or could I still do a melee attack? It's like a melee basic. - You can't shoot through your friends, so you're kinda right there. - All right, can I, let's see. All right, I'm gonna move up one so I can be in a line of sight of the rat swarm one. - Okay. - And then... - Let me see something here. You know you have no ranged weapon, right? - Yep. - Okay, so you can't make a ranged basic attack.

I'm just letting you know. - Aw. - 'Cause you have no ranged weapon. I didn't notice that earlier. (suspenseful music) So should I move back right in front of the swarm one again? - If you want to attack it, yeah. - Okay. - Okay. - That's a D20 plus five. Hold on. So many things on my screen, okay. - 20. - And 20 will hit. - Let's see, damage is one T-den plus one. - Okay, five. - Not bad. That will actually kill it. - Yay. - You have finished off the rest of those rats. - Oh, good. - Rats swarm number three. - Leave me alone. - Smell blood on Trixie and we'll attack her for that.

- Low number, low number. - Oh, crit. - God of a gun. - Don't kill me. - That's nine damage. - How can I run away? - Oh, you are down to five hit points. - Somebody save me. - Rats swarm number two will shift forward and attack Baranath, but gets a negative two to their roll. 18 still hits. - Oh shit. (laughing) - Six damage. - He's mad now. - Jerks. - Tali, your turn. - Okay. Minor action. No, hold on, I'm actually fine where I am. I realized this last turn. I am going to use my Cull the Herd in the next turn. - Encounter spell, so that's a range of five, which means, one, two, three.

Oh, all the rats get caught in it, yay. Oh, I can only target one creature. - Yeah, I was about to say it's a range five, but you can only attack one. - God damn it. Okay, I'll focus on swarm three that's hanging out over here. - Okay. The one that is whittling down Trixie's health. - Ooh, we killed one. - Yes. - You're welcome. - Hold on, Tony. I'm awesome. Please tell me that hits. - That does hit. - Okay, thank you. - Yay. - Kill it, kill it, damn. - 2d8 plus four. - I'm hoping that kills it. I managed to not really get bit by these rats. - That kills it. - Yeah.

- 13 will kill it. Did you wanna move? - I'll use a minor action, pop off a surge at least. - You can't pop off a surge as a minor action. - I can't, oh, potion then. - Yes, okay. So you're down to none potions. - None? - None potions, yeah. - None potions. (laughs) Let's see here, your surge is eight. So that potion hits you for eight. Bam, okay. And Galford, your turn. Oh, since it's your turn, these two rats get to attack you. (laughs) - Yay. - I love that explanation. Oh, by the way, seven's gonna miss you and the other one gets a negative two to its attack roll.

Eight, so both of them are gonna miss. - Yay. - The one crit missed? - Take them out, take them out, take them out. - Both of the remaining rat swarms are bloodied. - I might as well go with fascinating shadows again. 'Cause I've got nothing else I can burst these two dudes with, eh, no target one creature. I already used my unsealy sprites. - Okay, fascinating shadows on rat swarm four. - That's a crit. - Crit. And my damage is one D8 plus six. - So that's 14. - Yep. - And what were you targeting? Four or two, I forgot. - Four. - Oh, and actually the number four, and the first time the target attacks you before the end of your next turn, it takes psychic damage equal to your intelligence modifier.

- Okay, it's dead. - Okay. - So I saw that coming. - There will not be psychic damage. - Oh, by the way, it's dead. - Now that's what I call psychic damage. - Baraneth, your turn. And since it's your turn, this rat's-- - By the way, extra special treat. - 11, that's totally gonna miss, your turn. - All right, so attacking number two with my Astral Seal. Oh, crap. - 11 is going to miss, sadly. (laughing) (mumbling) - Reekis, your turn will fail. (laughing) - I'm so ashamed. - Reekis's hammer is coming to save you. - I would say your excuse could be you were knocked down, you were jostled earlier, you're in a river of poop, it's not a good day for you.

- Can I move? - You can shift away one, yeah. - All right. - That's still totally gonna be within range of the rats, just letting you know. - How about that? - That is better. - She had poo in her eye. (laughing) - Reekis, your turn. - Okay, I'm gonna move up two and we're gonna attempt to end all this crap. - Yeah, thanks, sympathy laugh, appreciate it. - Max is laughing, you're fine. - And do a basic melee attack, which is D20 plus nine, let's click the button to add the bonus, too much bonus. - 20. - 20 will hit. - Yeah. - Okay, and then it's one D plus eight.

(soft music) - Come on, computer. - This is where the rat king shows up and he's like, "No, 10." - 10 is just enough to kill it. - Yeah. - So you guys have defeated the rats in this sewer. The bells, you can still hear the bells in the distance back from the pipe where you came. You also hear a very distinct sound. (roaring) - Oh shit. - Did you get this in the stomach? - Yeah, sorry, I'm a little hungry. (laughing) - Hungry down here, Mitchell. - Someone's gassy. - Move myself out of the poo water. - You have some choices here to make. Outside, you hear the clattering of swords and halberds and shields.

So someone out there is doing battle with this dragon who is now trapped in an alley. And good luck to them. It sounds from what you can hear, like either a lot of people or someone very well armored. Down here in the sewer, you guys are free to look around or go back the way you came. Why don't we do a perception check on the sewer and just see if we can get any information about maybe which way to go or anything we can see down here. - There's totally a ladder on the wall. - I noticed that an hour ago. - Yeah, there's a couple of ladders. - But did our characters notice it?

- No, apparently not. - Roll a perception check, go ahead. I dare you, no, just go ahead. - I dare you. - 14. - I was gonna say, are we all doing it or just? - Well, usually you just pick one person and they do it. 'Cause otherwise it's just check crazy and that drags down the game. Now we get the same argument in the last group ones, sit down, like Tyler just started rolling. - Yeah, Tyler was like the, just going into business for himself. - So a 14, the path splits off into four separate ways. There's back the way you came, and then each of the other paths seem to lead into a graded tunnel.

Now there's bars separating you from the other side on each of the opposite ways. Some of the bars look fairly rickety, straight ahead of you. The rest of them look pretty solid. There are two ladders in this hallway that are accessible. The other two on the top and bottom, or yeah, just the one on the bottom, sorry, are just eroded, like they're broken and old and just busted. The other two lead up to what looks like another grate. - Should we take a moment to introduce ourselves to Baroneth here? She's probably wondering what the hell she's just gotten herself into.

- I'm still kind of having a WTF moment. Like I'm covered in poo and I've just survived battle. - I went out for milk and this is what happened? - What is an elf to do? - I don't think I owe her much of an explanation other than you're not dead, are you? - Me and Tal are just gonna sit against the wall and stare at her while the guys just kind of snuggle up next to her. - That's the plan. - We're gonna meet people on the field. - After we send the ladies into battle first, as we and Rika often do. - By the way, we want to inform you that these guys are not heroic by any means.

They send us in first and then they come in swinging their hammers like they know what they're doing. - I do like that your tank is usually the last one into battle. - And so is our Galford. - See, I love that Galford. - I love that Galford is our Galford. - Galford I would expect that out of, he's a sleazebag. That's his job. Like he's-- - Get him ladies. - Like that's, that would totally. But the lawful good rune priest I would expect. - The lawful good rune priest is trying to make sure he's not died himself. - Okay, would you guys like to heal up here for a second?

Use some healing surges? - Yeah, sure. - All right, so. - I can just, I'll go ahead and use my potion. - No, no, no, there's no, you could just use as many surges as you want. Like I just wanted to know if you want to use three or four. It's only a two hit point difference. - I'll just use four. - Okay, so you're at full health and you are down to how many surges? None, you have none surges remaining. - I don't? - Nope. - How do I not have any? - Well, there's that whole fight with the dragon, the whole fighting and the. - Oh, okay, I get it, okay. I'm gonna do that now.

Fine. - Rekis, how about you? Surges? Two? - Yeah. - Two, back up and you have five surges remaining. Of course you don't get as bloodied as the ladies do over there, so. - Hey, I help. - Shiver is not dead. Just the ladies are. Two surges for Galford gets you back up to full and Baranath, two surges will get you back up to full too. So, Galford, you got four remaining. Baranath, you have five. Tali, you have five. So, wow, Tricky's been getting her ass kicked. - Yep. - Okay. - I'm awesome. I run into battle to save my team. - All right, you'll trip it, why don't you?

- Well, I am standing in poop. Thank you, Galford. - We gotta give credit where credit is due there. Trixie usually does run in like. - Yeah, she does. - Yeah, and who went face first to save the little, the little statuette? Who did that? I did. - Well, yeah, you did the baseball slide right through the feces there to get us the dragon back. - I dove back in after I did a face plant into the poop. So, face planted twice 'cause I love you guys so much. - We're gonna comb, we'll comb the. - Excuse me, I dove face first into the dragon to begin with to get the damn thing.

- Well, you ran around. - And I wasn't even sure it was there. Okay, that was, that was so long ago. - Hang on, hang on, do you guys hear that? It's, it's a tiny violin. - Push your face in the poop. - In game time, that was like a half hour ago. Who could remember? - Tali, I didn't realize we were gonna have to usher a chat fight here. - Well, no, I think basically we should give them this one in that oftentimes they run in there, get their asses kicked and then, you know, at least I can blame it on my character. - I will, as much as I feel like I'm defending myself, I will openly admit that Trixie and Tali have done a very fantastic job.

While Galford and I at times have slouched. - Thank you. Good on you. - Good job, everybody. - Good job, yeah. - Straight ahead of you. Some of the bars in that grate look weakened. Now you don't know where any of this leads. So it could lead to a worse place than where you already are. And that's if you can get past the bars on the grate. To the left and right of you, these look pretty much sealed shut. - Can I do a history check to see who's who floats by? No, just joking. To see if anyone else has been down here or anything else we can learn about the place or should we just move on and bust through a grate or climb a ladder?

We're still not too far away from the dragon fight if we head up into the world. - You're incredibly close to the dragon fight. You're basically directly below that alley. - Can we like sneak back to look? - One second, one second, one at a time. And then no one speaks. - Have we ruled out going back up there to help whoever's fighting? - 'Cause didn't we jump down pretty far vertically like to get down into the sewers? - Yeah. - Yeah, it was a drop off basically. So you like the, you kind of go in there, it goes back about 15 feet and then it just kind of drops down and then dumps you into here.

- So it's not very feasible for us to go back up there even. - Despite the ladder? - Well, no, this we have to go back in the poop pipe if we wanted to go up towards the dragon. Or actually there's the ladder right there. Sorry, yeah, you're right. - The ladder probably I would think would lead up to the grate that we would have had to have messed with. In which case we really wouldn't necessarily see much of anything unless we finagled with the grate again. - Not necessarily. 'Cause remember the grate was to the left of the pipe and now this ladder is many squares to the right.

- Do we even know if there's a grate? - You know what? And I think even if we can see what's going on up there, we're probably not gonna join this fight. 'Cause we're totally outmatched with the dragon. And we don't even know who's fighting it too. - Can one of us sneak up the ladder and see what's up there? - Well, you gotta remember you guys are below. So no one's gonna be looking down into the grates as they're fighting this thing. - By somebody I think we're referring to you Trixie. - Well, I know, but. (laughing) - Okay, so send the women back into danger and- - Yes, I have full health now.

I will sneak up the ladder. Do I need to do- - Galford and I will sit in the corner while we look at our nails. - Yep. - I'm ready to hit you guys with my tiny violin. - We gotta give an explanation. Hi, Miranda. We decided that we were gonna drag you down into Poop Pipe. (laughing) - Well, I think it's kinda obvious why we dragged her down there considering dragon. - Well, I mean, you might wanna give her an explanation. - Okay, so in game, you guys have just finished this fight. Now, up until now, it could be totally reasonable that you wouldn't have had an in-depth conversation being chased by a dragon into the sewer then immediately attacked by rats.

At this point, there's nothing attacking you and it's just the distant sounds of clattering and dragon roars. Someone needs to give someone an explanation as to what the hell just happened. - Before that, now, Baranath does have a backstory which she has told to the Dungeon Master. Are we going to reveal that in game now or is that off the table until-- - That's gonna be in story. I mean, if you meet someone in real life, they're like, "I was born." No one busts out into a Morgan Freeman soliloquy. But yeah, I'm gonna work it into the story and we're gonna visit each one of your backstories.

- Okay, but the characters are not necessarily gonna have that conversation now and just be like, "Hey!" - No, that usually doesn't happen that way. It's gonna develop naturally over time as opposed to-- - Well, I mean, you totally just checked her into the boards, knocked her down and then drug her into the sewer and then she's gonna go, "I was born!" in the sense that's not a reasonable response. (laughing) - The poop clatter judgment. She's just not gonna get it all out. - Right, that's what a mentally unstable person would do. That's totally-- - In the story.

- Did we determine that our healer was stable or no? - We've dragged you into poop. - Rekis will say, "Well, that was a really shitty way "to introduce someone." (laughing) - I'm rolling my eyes at Rekis right now. - Yeah. - I'm wondering when somebody's gonna hit him. - Okay, so Galfur turns to Baranath and says, "It's nice to meet you. "I apologize for what happened to you "that you ended up in this sewer here "with a whole bunch of strangers, "but we really appreciate your assistance "in dispatching that unbelievable swarm of rats." You know, let me see your face.

Are you all right? Is everything all right? - I'm good, I'm good, thanks. I'm a little bit dirty, but you know, no worse for wear. And yeah, not really fond of being tossed into the sewer, but I gotta think I'm probably better off down here with you than facing that enormous creature. I'm pretty sure I would have been flattened into an elf pancake if I hadn't ended up down here. So it's all good. I'm probably safer with you guys. - Well, we're a group of friends, we're a group of adventurers. I'm myself an experienced warlock. Basically, we were completing a task that we were assigned.

And as you can see, ran afoul of a dragon. I mean, we didn't do anything wrong. It essentially turned on us. And this is where you find us now. We're in the sewer. We tried to get away from it. And basically things went sour. Would you like to accompany us to find a way out of here? Maybe get a nice hot shower and a pint. And you could tell us a little more about yourself. - I'm just laughing 'cause Trixie's facing back and forth. For the people that are listening right now, you can't see it, but on the game board, Trixie is just pacing in poop water back and forth right now.

- Is she, are you swimming? - I was just running back and forth. I was bored. - Just running back and forth in the poo water. - I'm splashing you on everyone. - So the invitation is out to join us. - So Galford's basically not really lied to her, but hasn't revealed the truth. And by saying that, you know, well, we were completing a task. We were hired to do something. We ran afoul of this dragon. I don't know why the dragon was so angry, but now we're here. Do you want to carry on and get out? - I'm kind of calling bullshit on your explanation and just, you know, yeah, you're just kind of walking along, you know, traveling.

And, and all of a sudden this dragon comes, comes right out and follows you down an alley. - Can I, can I bluff Baraneth to see if she'll buy our sword? I have to put it out at the sewer. - My lawful goodness might be kicking in though. You can absolutely roll a bluff check. - Okay. I'm going to roll a bluff check on Baraneth. Just to, just to try and convince her that we weren't doing anything necessarily bad. We were doing a task and we ran into a dragon and the dragon got extremely pissed. So we decided to get moving and, you know, by luck may have it she's in the sewer with us and accompanying us as the right way to go.

And we'll certainly explain ourselves more fully. Once we get somewhere safer and cleaner and get the poo out of our teeth. - Now, if you roll, if you roll a higher bluff than her passive insight, then you have totally tricked Baraneth. - Okay. There's my roll. - That jet that does beat her insight. So she kind of has to take you at face value. - This, this wasn't done maliciously. It was just the let's, let's get out of here and decide how much further we're going to reveal to each other. - Rika's will visibly grit his teeth as he looks away from the conversation happening.

- Yeah. It's kind of like Galford being Galford. - Yeah. (laughter) - This mirrors our marriage very much. I try and bluff my wife. She calls bullshit. She throws me in a sewer. We go from there. - I totally bought this Wii U for $2. I'm telling you it. - Oh man. I'm yeah. Okay. I'm, I'm really kind of shaking my head here. Okay. Fine. I don't know how, how talented you're feeling about me kind of joining the crew here. They've been kind of quiet. - Firstly, your life. I mean, if you want to hang around us, that's fine. If you want to go on your merry way after we're safely out of harm's way, that's fine.

- That's so catty coming from the razor claw shifter. - Galford interjects and says like, well, you know, just cause there's two guys and two girls, you know, we're not attached in any way. This is all just a group of adventurers working together for a common goal. - Oh, I'm glad our relationship meant so much to you. - Well, you know, she could have looked at us and said, well, maybe this is two married couples who just went for a stroll and got attacked by a dragon. - And who was married to who did she think? Just out of curiosity. - Ah, Trixie looks like Galford's type.

- Once you go drow, you never go back. - Outside, you hear the clattering get louder. It sounds like whatever is going on up there is getting close to this pipe. - You hear what sounds like town guard at this point. It sounds like someone who's regimented and militant. And you hear someone shout, stab it, man. And then you hear shortly after that, you hear the dragon roar again, but this time, it sounds much less aggressive and much more like it's in pain. - Okay. - Rekis noticing the sounds of the possible town guard would interject and say, Hey, maybe we should probably take a look up there.

- And that's waiting to do that forever guys. - Running back and forth to get to your attention. - Let's take a vote. Who wants to go have a look up the ladder and who wants to go down the hall and bust through this grate? - I'll go down the hall. - I would like to go up the ladder. - I would like to go up the ladder. - Okay. I'd like to bust through the grate. - You're the deciding vote now. - Come on, be a part of the team. Go up the ladder. - I want to go up the ladder. - All right. - Okay. That's three to two. It's all ladder, baby. - Gelford goes up the ladder after Baraneth.

- So you're just, you're just going, - She's climbing. - Are you trying to stealth up or are you like, - Why don't we stealth up to see what's going on before we did, before we just fully decided to just run up the ladder. - Yeah. - I have a high stealth check. I can at least head up there and, you know, try to see what's going on. My perception isn't great if I need to do a perception check, but at least I can be quiet about it. - Okay. So do me a favor and roll a stealth check. - Is that a D 20 plus? - That's a, it's always a D 20 plus, whatever your stealth is.

- My stealth is 13. - Your stealth is three. No, wait. - No, it's not. - Sorry. I'm looking at the wrong character. I'm sorry. - I'm sorry you can't read, sir. - Well, it, - And you wanted to make it fun of me for doing that in the last game, yeah? - I just want to make fun of you. - Yeah? (laughing) - Ain't nothing that the Herman. - 22. - Yeah. - You very stealthily go up the ladder and there is the same great you saw in the alley above you before running down here. You see the dragons stomping around, taking swipes at what appears to be at least 10 of the city guard with large halberds taking stabs at the thing as it, as it's in the alley.

It doesn't appear to have enough, enough room to take off. There's, there's too much above it. So it can't fly out of the alley. So it's just kind of taking tail swings and snapping at people around them. - So do we want to go up there and try to help since we did cause this to happen? - See the, I have to think, A, Rekis would feel inclined to go help, especially seeing the town guard, because he would be inclined to go help the lawful people of Brightport. But we also, I, Rekis is conflicted because he also knows that while the guards are up there taking care of the dragon, he also knows that we definitely had a tough time that last time.

And while he's very inclined to go help the guards, he also feels that he, he's, he, he hasn't grown completely attached, but he's starting to care a little bit about the group. And he, he, he definitely wants to make sure that everybody's safe. So do we want to like hang out and see if it gets better or just - Anybody got a TV and iPad? - I'm voting for leaving. - The dragon's got a long memory too. So it would probably remember us if we went back out there, that would just piss it off even more. And it would probably come straight for us. - I will, I, I will be willing to leave.

- Plus it would be very conspicuous. - We just popped out of a hole in the ground. - Yeah. - Hi, we're here to help. - Yeah. - I think it would probably, they just pop out and they're like, hi? - We dropped some gold down a sewer grate. We all went to have a look, heard the commotion. - Like that family member that magically shows up at Thanksgiving one year and you're like, hey, who are you? I'm your cousin. Yeah. - So you're, you want to try to break through the sewer grate and continue it deeper into the sewer. - I say yes. - Okay. You guys wander up to the sewer grate.

And while it is definitely weakened by years of rust and neglect, it's still made of steel. So what I want you to do is one of you make a strength check. We're gonna, we're gonna roll a D 20 plus your strength modifier. - Rickus? - That's going to be a Rickus roll. - Oh, where's that at? - You're just five. You got a strength of 20. So roll a D 20 plus five. - D 20 plus five. - So you, you, you place your hands on, you place, okay. You place your hands on the bars and you just reel back and jerk on it. And the bars. You guys are 12. - You said it. You said it.

- I did. I, I did. - Which does nothing to the bars. (laughter) - So much for your weapon. - I want to mute myself so you can continue. - So that wasn't, that wasn't enough to, to, to break these bars or bend them or anything. You can't quite find your footing. You're slipping around in feces. It's terrible. So you, you, you kind of stuck here right now. - Can he try to hit it with his hammer? - What about the, the ladder beside Trixie there? - You can totally check that out. - All right. Trixie why don't you go have a peek. Ladies, why don't you go forward into danger?

We'll be. - Just so we're clear. I took care of the, the bars. It didn't work. And now Gals is swimming to go up. - And stayed in character here. - Gals is more than me. - You rolled a critical one. - Fell off the damn ladder. Back into the loop. - You clip clop up the ladder, making as much noise as possible. - Where's Dan with that pack of chips? (laughing) - Thankfully what's above you is, is loud. So what, what you see is a regiment of guards standing at the end of an alley, presumably the same alley that you, you, you started in. So these guys are standing at the edge of the alley with their halberds up paying very close attention to the large dragon, several feet away from them.

They're, they're basically there to make sure the thing doesn't escape back into the city. So what you're directly beneath there is just a regiment of guards. - Do we think that they might attack us if we come out? - Well, it's really gonna seem weird. - Yeah. - Yeah, but we could say that we were running from the dragon and we ran into the sewer out of fear. And that's not completely like, you know. - That would probably be a bluff. - There's a fair bit of commotion though. Can we stealth up the ladder and just try and get past them in the commotion? - We saw how well stealth, we're gonna be popping out of the ground.

- Shut up. - Well, you're directly under them. So you're still gonna be like lifting the grate up and they're gonna be, hey, what's, what's, what's up down there? What are you guys doing? That kind of thing. You're directly beneath them. - And what was at the other ends of the halls? There were the other two grates looked pretty sturdy, eh? - Yeah, they're, they're solid. - And if I, if I rolled an 18, I couldn't get the rusty one. - I think there's another ladder here. You want to try the other ladder down south here? - Can't hurt. - Yeah, might as well. - Yeah, you wanna make another stealth check?

Check that letter out. - All right, let me get over there. - You don't have to. I mean, just the role play of it. - I need to get over there. I can't go up a ladder if I'm not near it. - You might be able to, but. - Okay. - God. - Stop having me do stuff. - Nope. - It's like I'm copped up with that one too. - 15, kind of the same thing. This one is blotted out where the other two are just slotted grates with bars. This one, it feels like something's sitting on top of it. So it's completely blotted out. You can't see anything up there and just trying to raise it a little bit.

It feels like there might be like a cart or something heavy on top of it. - Hmm. Oh, I think you're muted Danielle. - Oops. So can we have a Ricus try to do a strength check and see if maybe he can move it? Even though it's not top of it? - You sure can. - Good luck with this one. - Why don't Ricus necessarily has to do a stealth check? - No, no, no strength, strength, strength. - He can do a strength check to see if maybe he's strong enough to lift it. - Apparently I have not been eating my Wheaties. - A 12. - You jerked it all off with the bars. - Wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow.

So yeah, you guys are kind of stuck now. I mean, you have a couple of options, but I mean. - Well, I will, Ricus will point out that if we go out, we go out the first one we came in by, that one, we're gonna be A, distracting the guards that are attempting to take care of the dragon and then B, having to directly fight the dragon. This one, clearly there's something on there and I don't know if it would be out of line for me to probably assume that there might be a heavy, heavy thing that's being attacking guards right now on top of it. - No, it would be somewhere in this vicinity.

- Okay. - Yeah, so it's not the dragon's butt. - Yeah. - Yeah, and something tells me like, ah, well then in that case, I don't know. - Well, you've already made it, you've already went to move it and can't, so that's. - Okay, that one, I think. I think it's gonna be, that's probably gonna be our best bet. - Our best, yeah, our best bet, 'cause we may not immediately get accused by the guards of doing something weird. We can always try and bluff 'em and just get out of there or we can. - Our water's out and we had to take a swim somewhere. - Yeah. - And crap, apparently.

- So you guys wanna resource us? - Sort of a ladder? - 'Cause I mean, the other thing is to go down the whirlpool in the center and that doesn't look too attractive to me. - Yeah, I think probably the safest bet is gonna be. - We've already done a perception check. There's no other like hidden doors or any other junk we could, or switches. No switches that we see on the other side of the grate. Like I couldn't flip something with my ghost hand. So I think, yeah, we might have to climb back up. Anybody else? - Make sure you're not muted. - We're considering an option here, but.

- Oh, you can talk out loud. - Well, I was trying to figure out what my stats were. - You can ditch the man. (laughing) - We were talking privately. I mean, like we were thinking about maybe trying to assist him in moving that, even, but I didn't know if he could do that once he already rolled. Like, can we roll like a strength check to try to assist him moving that? And if that doesn't work, then we can go for the other ladder and just hope the guards don't kill us when they pop out of the ground. - Think that might be a DM question. - That's who I was asking, unless you know it.

- So sorry, the world is ending outside. Like the nastiest thunderstorm just rolled in. Ask again, I'm so sorry. - So is it possible for Mir, you know, - Can we roll to assist? - Yeah, can we roll a strength check to assist him in maybe lifting that? - That kind of would have been done the first time. - Yeah, and how many of us could actually fit up the ladder? - No, no, no, not the ladder, the grave. - On the other side, again though, that was one of those things where it's like, okay, well that, you know, when he would have rolled the first time, that would have been a thing where.

- Well then can Tawa and I try together? Maybe like one of us rolls and the other one rolls an assist to see if maybe we can try to? - Sure, I'll allow that. (dramatic music) - But it's getting to the point where you've pretty much narrowed it down. - We have to get out of this. - Yeah, it's either stay here forever or leave. Like it's getting to that point. Like you've exhausted all your other. - Well then, I mean, I'm not against going up the ladder in front of the guards. I'm scared of what might happen, but. - Well, you have a lawful good guy and a guy that probably bluff them.

- Yeah, I've got a plus 11 to bluff. So I'm sure I can make up some, some. - Reekis won't like that, but. - Yeah. - I mean, it's up to you guys. I mean, I don't mind either one. Like it was just an idea. - I think the easiest thing probably that we can progress more is just going up this ladder. - Okay. - We're covered in poop. I don't think they're gonna wanna fuss with us too much. - That is true. - So Brandon, why don't you go up first because you haven't stolen anything. (laughing) - All right, you are going back into the alley. If I lose connection, it's because our power went out.

I don't know what the hell is happening outside, but I think we're getting the residuals of all that nasty shit that was hitting like St. Louis and Oklahoma and all that nasty stuff. All right, so here's what's going on now. You guys are at the opposite end of this alley. And the dragon is on this end. And let me add all the lovely guards. - These guards look beautiful. - And then we have guards over here in the back of the alley to make sure this thing doesn't escape. And okay, so there's guards everywhere. - Who's this guy? - That would be the captain of the guards of Brightport.

So here's the situation. You have emerged from this grate in front of this small battalion of guards in the back. Immediately, two things happen. One, they take their eyes off the dragon for just a second to look at you. - Oh great. - Oh my. - And they all have their Halberds pointed up. I don't know if you know what a Halbert is. It's basically an, it's an ax with a really, really long handle. So it's a spear with an ax at the end of it. So they all have these things pointed outward and upward to make sure this dragon doesn't run at it. And they're just trying to keep it into that alley so it doesn't run back into the city proper.

You guys emerge right in front of these guards. And they just immediately start shouting at you, telling you to get out of the way, either move further into the alley or just get away from them. And then they immediately recoil from the smell of you. - Oh, we didn't think about that, guys. You don't smell too good. - You have been wallowing in human filth for the better part of like 15 minutes now. (laughing) - I have no problem with leaving this place. - You're muted. - Muted. - I am muted, okay. I have no problem with leaving this place. You still heard me.

- We've been told to run away. I'm running away. - Yeah. - Okay. - So Galford sort of yells like, "Let us by, let us by." We run back towards these guys, right? - As you get ready to leave, the captain of the guard screams past the dragon to the men, "Hold those people!" - Oh. - I knew it. - Couldn't you guys have just told us to move quietly? (laughing) Why you gotta alert him to our presence? - Meanwhile, this battle is just raging on with this dragon. They're doing whatever they can to kind of subdue this thing. The dragon itself is doing everything it can to get out of this alley, including clawing its way up the side of a building, which is what it finally resorts to.

It's bleeding and it's been hurt, and it claws its way up the side of a building and makes its way back into the city. - Uh-oh. Poor dragon. - He's gone. - Bye. - The captain of the guard rushes up to you and starts asking, "What were you doing in the sewer?" He's asking Galford. - Okay. So am I gonna try and bluff this guy and just tell him that we were in this alley discussing where we were going to travel or where we were gonna find our next job outside the city, maybe protecting the caravans like we did, and the dragon came busting down the alley, so all we did was run for our ever-loving lives and the only place we could go was the sewer, and literally we're trying to get out of here.

Is that what we're gonna go with, or are we going to show him the gold dragon and say, "Yo, respect." (all laughing) Do we know what house these guards are attached to? There's multiple houses in Galford, correct? - I would think that we would keep the dragon a secret. We don't know who's affiliated with who. Just try to tell him that we were doing something outside of the city, the dragon saw us, and we ran for our lives into a sewer 'cause that was the only place we could go. - I like your original bluff. - Everybody cool with that? - I like your original bluff.

- I'm getting nervous. - Okay, so Galford sort of wipes some of the feces off of his face so he looks a little bit clearer and looks directly at the captain of the guard and says, "We were meeting in this alley. "We were discussing a business proposition "with this elf we had met. "We've helped some of the caravans outside this city, "and we were looking for our next job "when this dragon came busting down the alley, "and with obviously intent to harm us, "the only thing we could do was run away. "Sadly, if you look at the state of my clothes, "the only place we could hide was in the sewers.

"We just emerged 'cause we heard the guard fighting it. "We thought about offering assistance, "but I'll tell you the truth, "we really just wanna get out of here." So let's see if I can bluff this man. 20, that's a pretty good bluff. That seems to kinda calm him down a little bit. He says, "So you're adventurers then?" - That's right, yeah. - Do you know anything about House Darksean? Because that's in ruins. And it looks like we have several murder investigations to do. Do you have any knowledge of who might've broken into House Darksean? - Well, you know, when we came into the town, we were approached by a gnome who wanted to hire us to infiltrate House Darksean.

I think his name was Graddock the Wanted. We turned down his proposition and went and stayed at the inn for the night, and that was the last we had heard of it. But we're aware of House Darksean, and I don't wanna be anywhere near it. Should I bluff him again? - Yes, you should. - Shit. - 14. - He shouldn't even said we knew the damn gnome. - You shouldn't have swore for whatever it was. - Gnome, he's a gnome. - No, whatever, we didn't know him. - We didn't gnome him, Danielle. - You guys are fired. - I'm gonna do a batman check. - Looks like we need two more people for this group.

So sad. - We need two more girls, two more girls. - Yeah, 14, that catches him off guard. Who approached you, what was the gnome's name? - So, Galford looks over at Riekus and says, "Do you remember, I thought his name, "actually, nevermind, Riekus is too good, "who's more shifty, Talla?" Galford looks over at Talla and says, "Do you remember his name?" He says, "His name was Graddock or Grabbit or, "you know, Gankit, something like that." - Graddock sounds about right. - Yeah, you-- - Graddock the Wanted. When somebody called the Wanted tries to hire you to do a job, usually they're wanted for something.

I would look for him first if I were you. Should I blow off him again? - Go ahead one more time, yeah. - Do I get to assist because I was, you know-- - That would make sense, but yeah, 21 now, okay. You said he got in contact with you yesterday? - Yeah, it was yesterday, right after we rolled into town. - I want you guys to come back with me to the barracks. We want you to identify him when we bring him in. - All right. - Sure. - Can we clean ourselves up first if we let you know where we're staying? I mean, look at the state of us. - You know, you don't wanna bring us in there.

- Yeah, honestly, if you bring us into the barracks, everybody's gonna, you know, essentially get a whiff of what you're talking about. - There's a shower in the guard barracks if you'd like to shower up and-- - Um, okay. - How far can we take it with this guy? Are we gonna go with him or try and convince him to let us leave? You know, while we were, you know, we were kinda hoping to go on our way and keep moving. If we tell you where we're staying, can you get in contact with us? We can identify him if you're able to bring him in. Our new experience in Brightport hasn't been particularly good so far.

- Go ahead and roll a bluff check. (laughing) - 26, that's really good. And 26 is good. - Lucas, be quiet. Shut up. - I'm trying so hard, like I'm trying to sneak in ways where eventually I'm gonna get set off. Go ahead. - I understand where you wanna leave, but you have to understand this is a huge matter. We have a dragon loose in the city, house darkspanes and tatters, and you people are obviously new here. I don't know who to trust in this situation, and you people are the only connection we have to finding out what Grattic the one it looks like and to bring him in.

- Rheegis will step forward in front of Galford and look at the guard and say, "We'll comply," and then, "We'll comply with what you're asking us to do." - So you're speaking for the group, you're gonna let him take you into custody and bring you... - Yeah, 'cause I don't feel like Rheegis has really spoke a lot until now, or at least... Rheegis is getting to a point where I think he's annoyed with how unlawful that we're trying to be, and he just wants to get out of their hair as quickly as possible. And he understands that the easiest way to probably do that is just to comply with what they're asking of him.

- Okay. - Buran has just had a good question about diplomacy. If we go back with him, can we also then negotiate the terms of our surrender, which would be, we get to shower up, we get to go for dinner, whatever. (laughing) - There was nothing, they just basically want to question you about what's going on and then help identify that. Yeah, that's all the captain of the guard wants to take you back for. This guy seems, if you wanna roll an insight check to see if he's on the level or... - I was thinking like, what about an insight check or a streetwise check or something?

I mean, streetwise check, everybody's just gonna be worried in the city about getting smoked by the dragon. But insight check, maybe we could determine if any of the other guards are a little bit more pliable. So after we get back there, we... - That would be a streetwise check. An insight check would be just to check out what the captain of the guard is talking to you about. The captain of the guard is talking to you about right now. - Okay, who wants to do an insight check? - I've got an 11. - I have an eight. - Brat. - Fire away, yeah. - Sounds like a Brana thing.

- Okay, D20 plus 11. - Yep. - There we go. - 21. This is the first person you've talked to in Brightport that seems like he's completely on the level. He seems just unflappable in his conviction, just a real, like maybe the only honest person in Brightport. - He's Harvey Dent. - I mean, I say we go with him. I mean, worst case scenario, we can just say we didn't recognize him. It was a dark alley. - Well, the other thing too is that if this guy is actually on the level and we wanna walk the path of good, even though Galford's a slimy lying prick, more manipulative, but he may be an advantageous ally for us to eventually reveal what happened too.

If he respects the power that the dragon holds, this may be a guy that could be like, tell you the truth, we got in over our head, we took the job, we really didn't know what the dragon represented and we got chased by the dragon and if it comes down to that, he may be someone that isn't gonna screw us or we could find one of the guards who's a little bit shadier and be like, hey, are you like Dark Spade on the weekends or like, hey, are you, what was the other houses? - Silverclaw and Hammerhand. - Hammerhand, be like, hey, are you Hammerhand on the weekends kind of thing when you're not a guard, check out what I got, buddy, and maybe try and help us get out of there.

- Yeah, being a part of these houses, it isn't like being in the reserves or something. That's the life, that's mafia type stuff, like you are that, it's not like, oh, I sell fruit and on the weekends, I'm also an assassin. Like it's very much, that's who you are. - That is totally what I do, I'm an assassin on the weekends. - Now the city guard, who did they work for? 'Cause I mean, the three houses kind of control the three, the economy of the city, right? - They control the economy of it, yes, but I mean, there's still a law and order, there's checks and balances, there are trials, like if you're found guilty of something, there's, I mean, there are, yes, so there is still law.

- There's still a city council and kind of a, you know, a political ruling body, however, the three houses have the, they're more like the mafia that have the push and pull of the economy behind the scenes. - It's very Gotham. - Very Gotham, okay, got it. So are we going back with them? - I say we go back with them. - Tala, you're cool? - I'm totally cool. - Tala, you're, okay. Okay, there we go. He says, "I'm gonna put you in the care of a few of my guards, they're gonna escort you back to the barracks where you can clean up, get a shower, and then I'm afraid they're gonna have to put you in holding cells while I'm dealing with this dragon situation." And then he barks at the remainder of the guards that are still in the alley, and like, "What are you guys still doing here?

There's a dragon losing the city." And he and the remainder of them, except for a few remaining guards, scamper off and chase the dragon in the general direction in which it went. - Wait, he said that he's gonna put us in holding cells? We never agreed to be put in holding cells, we agreed to cooperate. - I'm not comfortable with the- - I'm not going if I'm gonna go in a holding cell. - Yeah, I'll hang out in the waiting room, but I don't wanna go in a holding cell. - Yeah, if you wanna put me, like, I'll sit there and talk to you, but if you try to lock me up, I'm gonna leave.

Like, I'm not gonna go with you. - Can I bluff him one more time and say like, "Whoa, you know, we haven't done anything wrong. Why do we have to go in a holding cell?" - Uh, you wanna stop him just before he leaves the- - So just before- - Go ahead. - Out of character, would you wanna bluff the guards instead of the captain? 'Cause I feel like he would probably be like, "Hey, you know what? I could just execute you." Like- - He doesn't seem like that type of personality. - Well, I'm just saying, like, I think it would be, I don't know, I'm having conflicts with my lawful goodness right now.

- But the thing is, if the guards are loyal to their captain, then that would get, that would make us look horrible that we're trying to bluff a guard to let us go or let us, you know, let us pass, so we don't have to go with- - We did just crawl out of a sewer covered in crap. - I mean- - And they haven't seen the golden dragon yet. - Yeah, so I mean, we need to- - A weaker constitution, maybe? Like the captain's on the level, but what about the rest of these guys? Can, if we go with them, can they be bribed? You know, can they be reasoned with? Can, you know, they be mesmerized by my pretty elfish ears or, you know?

- Is there one guard that's like really derpy? (laughing) - Like, out of character, that's my logic. Rheekus would be feeling right now annoyed with the group because he knows that if we cooperate with them and just answer their questions, the sooner we do that, the quicker we will get out of their hair and we won't have to deal with it. - That's if he doesn't try to lock us up. - Well, he's already gonna lock us up. - Well, yeah, I'm not okay with that. (laughing) I'm willing to answer his questions in a manner that I am standing there talking to him, but not with there being bars in between us because he thinks I might be dangerous or he's not sure what to do with me.

- I think if we don't fight right now, we're gonna end up locked up one way or another. Is there locked up 'cause we're not cooperating or locked up, you know, cooperating, but we run the risk of- - What if we get locked up 'cause he doesn't like our information? - I will point out that we're just being put in holding cells right now. - Yeah, that's one thing. - He's not jailing us permanently. He's jailing us until he can take care of the dragon. - Like the guy doesn't know you. He doesn't know if you're- - Yeah, he's not suspecting anything. If we just play it cool.

- Like put yourself, okay, like picture this as a real situation. It is pure pandemonium. Like just, you know, several hundred feet away is the shattered remnants of what used to be one of the houses in Brightport, one of the three big ones. That's a huge thing. And then there's a dragon loose in the city. There's, I mean, there's a lot going on, so. - Why don't we see if we can go back to our room and maybe he can send a guard or two with us so that we can't leave? At least we're not locked up. - That's a reasonable request. - We're not asking to run away.

- If we do get put in the holding cells, we don't know who we'll be putting the holding cells with. Maybe there's other people there at the guard station that we can have a chat with. And eventually if they do actually bring in Graddick the gnome, he's going to know-sell that he knows us at all because he's the one that hired us. - Or he could finger us as the ones who caused all this to save his own skin. - Yeah, at least if we go back to our room, we might be able to hide the dragon statuette and, you know. - It would probably be more advantageous for Silverclaw to bail us out for, you know, because they know we've got the dragon statue now.

Like if we can somehow get Silverclaw a message that we have it, you know, they'll probably just turn over Graddick and send someone else to bail us out. - To be fair, they probably would. - Yeah. - So what are we gonna do? - But how are we gonna get them a message that we did it? Like just 'cause the place was burned down, they may not know for a day or so that we have the statuette. So why don't we, like, how are we gonna get them notice that we have it? - That would be either we go back to the guard station, potentially manipulate one of the guards, like find the derpy one that would help us out or something.

Or we could see if we could bluff the captain into- - Find the derpy one. - Find the derpy guard. If we could find- - Curp-a-derp. - If the captain would be willing to let us go back to our room, get cleaned up, but also have guards posted up at the hotel to help us. And then we could try and turn those two guards or hope they're derpy or sneak out. Anybody, should we try and convince him to let us go back to the hotel or should we just go back to our holding cell? - I don't wanna go to a holding cell. - Yeah, I got- - He's gonna take us- - I'm sorry. - He's gonna take us by force.

If we push this far enough, he's just gonna take us by force anyways. - Yeah, Rheekus will point out the fact that we haven't been accused of anything. He's just asking for us to clear up some things because we're the only people that have seen anything. He understands that at least the girls, if not Galford as well, are worried about the conditions of the holding cell. We've not been to this part of the city. He understands the fearfulness, but he knows that he trusts the guards, he trusts the system, and he trusts the fact that if we comply with them and make their job easier, they will be easier on us.

- All right, Rheekus, I might be considering going, but I get to punch you if I get locked up for more than a day. - I'd like to point out that I never actually saw this gnome. - I don't know these people. - I wanna note that we're not going to jail cells. We are going to holding cells. There's a difference. - Totally different. - Jail cells are made for more than likely less than a day. It's just for processing. They wanna make sure that we're not gonna be doing anything fancy. Jail cells would be- - Wait, what day of the week is it? Because if you're in a jail cell, or a holding cell on Friday, they hold you till Monday.

- That's funny. - Judges don't work on weekends. - So what, do we go to our holding cell and then just see if we can put ourselves in a more advantageous position from there, or should we try and bluff them one more time, really push our luck? - I guess we'll just point out that if you comply with law enforcement and guards, they will be more inclined to comply with you. - Also, this is the city of thieves, so probably 75% of the guards are totally turnable. - All right, I am willing to go to make Regus happy 'cause he is part of my team, and I have kind of a connection to my team, even though I don't, but I'm not happy about it.

- Okay, so Galiford will go along to the holding cell as well, but he's already checking out all of the guards, keeping his eye on the captain, looking for any person he can manipulate or exploit or bluff in order to put the group in a better advantageous position because what we won't reveal here, but Galiford also kind of wants to go wherever Regus goes. - I'm kind of willing to help out, but I don't know if I should play the card that I never actually saw this gnome. I'm really not helpful in identifying him. I also wanna kind of, I'm wondering, are they gonna do any kind of search?

Are they gonna find that little dragon statue? - Now, maybe we can, yeah. - Is there a way that we can kind of like explain to them that Brandeth is not really part of this? We drug her with us 'cause we ran into her running away from the dragon, but she's not really part of it. - I think when we actually get to the questioning part, we'll be able to explain that she's- - They made searches though and find the gold dragon. So can we convince them that she's not part of it? Let her go, give her the dragon and- - Well, you can totally ask him if like, 'cause that wasn't really part of the- - Yeah.

- He didn't say anything about a strip search or anything like that. They will take your- - Their stuff. - But the standard procedure is they'll take your weapons and armor and stuff and probably not even your armor, just your weapons and your possessions and just put them in a holding. - They're not necessarily gonna go through it and ask us about it. - No, no, no. Like he's like, again, the guy's a, you know, he's not, he's not to fleece you or yeah, he's just not convinced that you have no connection to anything and especially being the captain of the guard in this city, like he doesn't trust anybody here.

Like it's better to just not trust anybody, be extra careful, question people and talk to them and then see what's what. - I think the general consensus is we're gonna be going to the holding cell, but we also have to think of the fact that they don't know, this is me like being my twisted, almost like half twisted lawful goodness, but they don't know what the information is. They haven't questioned us yet. So we can easily, and this is kind of lawful goodness, we can easily say that one of the houses contracted us. I don't know about the laws of the land, but I don't know if it would be illegal for a house to steal another house's dragon, but you can easily position it saying, hey, these people contracted us.

We wanted to do the right thing and get them in trouble. I don't know if that's even feasible or maybe ridiculous. - The city is so wrecked right now by a dragon that if we're implicated in the dragon attack in any way, we're probably boo barred. - Well, nobody saw us. I think we're going to the holding cell. We're just discussing things now, but I think we're going to the holding cell unless somebody really truly wants to object. - All right, let's go to the holding cell. I think we can get out of there fairly easily by manipulating a guard or something.

- Okay. - Okay. - All right. - And then we'll try and convince them to let Baranath go and then maybe she can bust us out. - There you go. - While I was gonna say, while we're walking too, Galford's trying to talk to the guards to say, we're the ones that took care of Black Teeth by the way. - The guard says who? - The Jellybean Bandit who was attacking a lot of the caravans. We actually rid the outskirts of Brightport of a terrible menace. So we're literally just looking for our next job. We've done a lot of good already to help this city. We've only been here a day.

- The guard chuckles at that and hollers back, hey Johnson, you hear this guy? Oh, they rid Brightport of crime. You hear him? It's funny. Tell Johnson what you just told me. - Rheegis will face Palm at the comments Galford is making and going, well, if they don't think we're guilty right now, they surely will after you get done talking. - Now, Baraneth's ears prick at the mention of Black Teeth. Is that correct? - That's a name that I know very well. And yeah, I'm suddenly feeling pretty connected. I feel like I owe you guys something. - All right, we'll leave it at that.

- So these guards escort you back to some holding cells here. - I call Top Bunk. - So here's what we are gonna do. - Pop. - We're all taking showers. We're taking showers by ourselves. No big, no group showers. - You guys have gotten, they let you get cleaned up. They let you get cleaned up and they have put you each in your own individual cells. Now, the way these little holding cells or jail houses are set up is that there are three cells per cell block, so to speak. So the group is kind of split right now. Outside you hear guards patrolling back and forth and hours go by.

- I've got a lovely bunch of coconuts. There they are all standing in a row. Big one, small one, some as big as you. I don't do well in confined spaces. - So we get a plus one to intimidate if Rikus is naked. So he was showering, are any of the guards frightened? - No one tried to fight him in the shower. There was no Oz scene or anything like that. It was all. So hours go by and you don't hear anything. So the natural assumption is that the dragon problem in the city is a much bigger one than one would assume. And then in right here, the grate starts to move.

And out of it pops Gratik the Wanted. - Rikus will just roll his eyes. Oh, great. - So Gratik the Gnome pops into the room here and he walks right up to Galford. And says, "Ah, you guys got yourselves "in a bit of trouble, did you?" - And Galford says, "Yeah, I mean, you hired us to do a job "and we may have succeeded, we may have not." - Oh yeah, what a job you guys did by the way. Nice stealth mission, real nice. - Well, if you'd given us a little bit more information, maybe told us that there was a giant young white dragon near the thing that we were hired to steal, which we may or may not be in possession of, we might have been a little bit better prepared.

But you're here, so you're obviously interested to know how things went out. - He says, "Firstly, how the hell was I supposed "to know there was a young white dragon?" - Well, we figured that with your connections that there'd be a little bit more information about their defenses. - None of the other people from the other houses are known to go into other houses. - Well, you're from Silver Clive, you got a big dragon guarding your stuff? - None of your goddamn business what we got guarding our stuff. - So you guess we'll pipe up and say at this point, you should probably be a little bit more honest with us since we're in holding cells for you right now.

- Oh yeah, thanks for taking that hit, I really do appreciate it. - I know. - And then he reaches into his backpack and produces a small golden dragon statuette. (suspenseful music) This was in your stuff and he just kinda holds it up. - Well, it looks like-- - You're welcome by the way. - Yeah, we found what you were looking for and if I remember correctly, the deal was that you promised us positions in the House of Silver Claws, so if that dragon holds a lot of power, look what we did basically, we'd like you to help us get out of here and get us back to our new home with Silver Claw.

- So he's holding the statue up and he says, "Yeah, yeah, here's the thing, "my superior paid you a shitload of money, "which you've spent, if I'm understanding correctly, "to perform a stealth mission "and I'm gonna be a good man." Now see, I don't recall being asked to be stealthy. - I recall asking you to be stealthy? - You didn't ask me, you asked Trixie. - You were there. - I was there, you didn't ask me to be stealthy, you asked her. - How many people did you murder? How many people did you murder? - Personally, what, two, three maybe? - That's not stealthy.

- You didn't ask me to be stealthy, I already said. - No, well, we tried to be as stealthy as we could, things turned a little sour, but look at the strength of this group, we still managed to steal the item in question and get out alive. How many other people within Silver Claw could actually do that if they were found out sneaking into House Darkspane, let me remind you. - Here's the deal, we don't operate in the hammer, smash, kill, destroy business, that's hammer hand. We're stealthy, we get in, we get out, no one's the wiser. You guys killed everyone, smashed the house to bits and there's a dragon in the city.

- Self-defense might I add. - And the only one who can really trace us to that is you. - See, here's the other thing, one of the houses is destroyed now. Do you know who brings, do you know what kind of heat that brings on the other two houses? 'Cause who are they looking at right away? Take a guess. - They can look at you, but they don't have any proof. Neither do you. - We don't want them around, honey, you don't get it. We don't want them snooping around. And to be honest, you could implicate us, it's a problem. - Reapers will pipe up at this point and say, what are you getting at?

- Well, here's the thing, the captain of the guard straight as an arrow, can't bribe 'em don't know why, guy don't like money. His superiors on the other hand, you know the guys who pass down sentences, they like money just fine. So here's what we did. We sold you to slavers. You're gonna be taking a little trip down south, you'll be at our hair, you'll get some sun, it'll be great. - Riggus will turn around and punch the nearby wall connected right to Galford, the wall separating Galford and Riggus' cell. Just so Galford can maybe get a little indication of the frustration.

And it's noticeable that this has upset Riggus too. - Oh yeah, I would imagine everybody in that room is upset. Trixie and Baranath are in a different room entirely. He's loud enough. Let's not have him be loud enough. - Now, can I do a diplomacy check with this guy and try and negotiate something a little bit better and say that, okay, well, you promised to pay us the rest, maybe finding us places within the House of Silver Claw isn't gonna be the right fit, but how about we just get out of your hair and call it even and you keep the gold dragon? And I'll do a diplomacy check?

- You can try it, go ahead. - I have to be sat here confident. - Well, if it's a really good diplomacy check, sure. 18, okay. Now I'm afraid the wheels are in motion on this one. It's out of my hands. People have been bribed, sentences have been passed down. They'll be here for you any minute, I'm sure. That reminds me, I gotta get out of here, but thank you very much. I hope to do business with you if you live. I understand these slavers like to take people and enter them in this big tournament down south. - Just won't say prick as he. - May the Raven Queen visit you shortly.

- And to you, honey. And he slips back down under this grate and disappears. - You happy, Galford? - Hey, I wanted to go check out all the other houses before we accepted this deal. So he says, "You know, we jumped at the first opportunity. We rolled the dice, it didn't work out. Wanna call for the guards, see if they can catch this prick?" - Okay, so before I, 'cause I, I wanna continue that interaction. Do you have the other two, Trixie and Baranath, have they heard this? Or are we- - They didn't hear anything. - No, they are in- - They've been through, are we shooting paper airplanes through the cells?

- These are totally, these are buildings. Like you're in completely separate buildings. So Trixie and Baranath are in their own buildings. And of course, Grattic isn't gonna speak loud enough to have them hear it because the guards outside would obviously hear too. So he snuck in for a reason. - Okay, now do we wanna call for the guard and try and send the guards, you know, say that this gnome came and threatened us? Or have enough wheels been put in motion basically that enough people know that it was us that did this, but Silverclaw's just kinda throwing us a bone by at least letting us live?

I'm gonna kinda ask in the DM there. - You can, I mean, you can shout for a guard if that's what you wanna do. I can't really tell you how that's gonna play out 'cause that wouldn't be fair. - Okay. - There's no excitement there. - Tala, Rikas, what do you wanna do? - I wanna punch you in the face. - Hey, why is this my fault? You're the one who wanted to go back to the holding cells. - I wanna punch a few people in the face. - That's a fair point. You did wanna go back to the holding cells. - I wanted to go back to the holding cell. I did not condone any of this interaction.

There's only so much I can put up with in terms of being the one person that wants to do the right thing continuously. So Rikas is upset A, because of a certain action that's taken place, but B, because of the fact that up to this point, he's been very accepting of what the group's actions have been and now it's coming back to haunt him. - So Galford calls over to Rikas and says, Rikas, calm down, we're gonna get out of this. This completely went sour, but we got a chance of redeeming ourselves here somehow. Do you wanna try and send the guards after that prick that just screwed up our whole deal?

Or are we just gonna resign to our fate and go along with these slavers, see if we can rid the world of them and maybe free some other slaves along the way? You know what it's like to be a slave. Maybe this is a message to us that says we can do some other good down the road. Should I bluff Rikas? (laughing) - Can you do that? 'Cause I mean-- - I'm not trying to be a total prick. I'm just trying to stay in character here. - Oh yeah, no, no, no, no, no. I completely understand that. I wanna see if he can actually do that because up to this point, I mean, realistically this is tapping into Rikas's history.

- Exactly, yeah. - So-- - Rikas may be getting to smash some slave traders to get out all his frustration. - I know what Rikas's response would be. - Here's the thing. If you wanna try and bluff him, you can absolutely do that. If you fail, I would imagine Rikas would be incredibly pissed that you tried to trick him into siding with you. If you just wanna talk to him and see, I mean, that's up to you guys. You guys are playing the characters, so. - Okay, why don't we have this conversation without me actually trying to trick you because I don't think Galphard would be opposed to fucking up some slave traders, even though my alignment, and my alignment is more manipulative than it is true evil kind of thing, so Galphard's just looking for opportunities no matter what he does, and he wants to go with Rikas if eventually backstory may reveal, but he wants to follow Rikas along, essentially.

But Galphard wouldn't be opposed to fucking up some slave traders if we have to resign to our fate, and he feels like he has to appease Rikas a little bit in saying that, you know, maybe by going along with and taking our lumps, that's like showing the lawful good guy that like, okay, let's just take what we got coming, we fucked up on this one kind of thing. - Rikas, hearing everything-- - And every time he's like drawing, you know, drawing something on the wall in blood, like for, Gradic in her implies. (laughing) - Hearing everything that Galphard has said up to this point, and hearing the news that will be hitting the group, Rikas at this point has started pacing around his cell a little bit and putting his hands on top of his head and just trying to get this bad negative thoughts out of his head and-- (growling) - The shit?

(laughing) - Did someone get attacked by a scout client? - That was a very sharp-- - A half-stair peeps client. - That was Tala, thank you. - Oh, welcome. - Uh, Rikas would-- - Please tell me the guards heard that. (laughing) - I don't know what's going on, was that role-playing or are you just having a spasm, what happened? - That was role-play. - Okay. - Oh, it was your roaring her frustration. - Okay, oh, so it interrupted me. - Okay, that means-- - Okay. I was very confused for a second, okay. Uh-- - Did you say anything? - Amazingly enough, that did get the attention of the guards.

Um-- - Gee, I wonder. - You hear one of the guards stomp towards the door and then you hear someone else kinda quickly trudge up to it and is like, ah, I got this, don't worry about it. And the guard walks in and says, what the hell was that? - I am pissed. - And? - I will let you know that. Fuck it, Garak, decides to bust his ass in here, take my shit and run, I don't think so. - I've been standing outside, ma'am, no one's been in here. - Yeah, 'cause he got through that godforsaken grate. - The one over here? - Yeah. - This grate? - Yeah. - Well, I don't see anything now, ma'am, I don't know, I don't think that leads anywhere, to be honest.

Anything else, you good, you need a drink? - You're an idiot. - Rekis will pipe up and just go, well, maybe, very sarcastically, maybe Galford should try to talk to this guy, cough, cough. - Maybe Galford should stop trying to negotiate with people. - Then the guard kinda lowers his voice and says, look, you people are on your way, just as soon as the guys get here to take you in shackles. I don't care what you did, I don't, just be quiet. - Rekis will pipe up and say, have the others been told of what's happening? Meaning the other people in the other building, obviously, 'cause they've been lonely, I guess.

- He says, what, you two friends? They'll figure it out soon enough. - I was totally trying to play cards with her and she just wouldn't listen. - Well, there's kind of a wall in between you. - So you can lay it out in front of a wall, it's okay. - Rekis will look at the guard, bow his head, and say, thank you. - I gotta talk to the lawful people. - And the guard starts to walk towards the door. - So can I do an insight check to see if this guard is pliable? - About to leave. - Go ahead, you can do an insight check on what he said. - 11. - You don't see where this guy is saying anything out of the ordinary.

It seems like he's, to you, it seems like he's pretty much on the level, at least from what you can gleam. And he returns to his post. A couple of hours later, you hear a lot of clamoring outside and several large men kind of burst into each one of the holding cells. They're carrying sacks and shackles. And the guards, the guards back them up, holding their halberds to make sure that you don't struggle too much. And they attach shackles to your arms and your legs and then tie this sack over your head and escort you all to a few different caravans that are waiting just on the outskirts of the city.

And load you up. And the caravan starts to clatter away as you head south. And that's probably the best place we're gonna get to stop tonight. - I like it. Well, I don't like it, but I like it. (laughing) - Oh man. - Riekis, as soon as I get my hands out of these shackles, I am going to fuck you up. (laughing) - Scott, Riekis is gonna get some story time in here. - Go with the lawmen. Yeah, that's a great idea. - Yeah, Riekis is gonna get some story time in here and you're gonna understand why he's really, really upset at Galford, but also why he is the way he is.

- So this, like the next sit down should be a lot of fun. Like there's probably gonna be more story stuff. We didn't get into the story stuff for the most part until the end here, but it kind of took off actually after everyone went to prison. Like it really will. - In the city of thieves, we're like noobs that went in, took the first job we saw from one of the three criminal manipulative houses and wrecked most of the city. We probably weren't coming out ahead on this one. - See, the biggest thing I'm having right now is the fact that the choices that we're asking ourselves to make, like part of me is like, well, this is logically the best decision, but then I'm like, but wait, I'm lawful, good.

- See, the thing is don't metagame, just play your character. What would your character do? If you're playing a barbarian who is a fucking dummy, then play dumb. Like that's don't like that ruins the game. When you sit back, it's like, well, if we go here, this might happen, play your character. Just if you're a super stealthy chick, then it's like, well, I'm gonna sneak over here and see if I can steal or pick pocket or do something like that. That's who your character is. That's. - Yeah, the biggest problem is picking the alignment. Then after you've picked the alignment, you're like trying to rationalize the group's decision over your alignment and you really kind of can't do that.

Just kind of messes up your character. - So while everything and everyone else, like some of it's for backstory purposes, some people are actually playing their character. Like they didn't want to go to the holding cells. They didn't want to, and that's where you step in and you're playing your character and you're like, come on guys, it's the cops. You can trust the cops, come on, it's fine. - Yeah, which makes sense for Riggus to do that completely. - Right. - Whereas, you know, like Alfred's obviously gonna want to try and manipulate everyone he possibly can, but trying to get Riggus to go along with it is gonna be a constant battle.

- Really interesting too, just because we're gonna have to, when we start up again, we're gonna have to explain to Braneth and Trixie why they're getting, and the rationality of why they're getting pulled the way they are. We're gonna, Galford's gonna be trying to like, come on Riggus, it's okay. Riggus is gonna want to smash Galford's head while Tala's gonna want to kill Riggus for convincing the group, and Trixie and Braneth are gonna want to kill Riggus for convincing the group to actually go into the cells. - And also too, like-- - Yeah, that's pretty much it.

(laughing) - And why Braneth is just gonna kind of bend over and take this, in that she went from, you know, taking a leisurely stroll down an alley to being covered in shit, to being locked up, to being dragged away, to sold into slavery. So it's been a bad day. - That's something, that is the worst day ever. Like that's like-- - Okay, hell, chase by dragon. - I mean, we got a shower out of it. - That's true. Probably 'cause they didn't want to smell you though. That wasn't really for you. It was, you're just offensive to be around at that point. - I feel like the character Braneth though is gonna be the easiest for people.

Like one of us two, like we're all gonna be kind of split at this point, like up to this point, everybody's kind of been working as a group, at least in character. Like we did, like Riggus has kind of not been comfortable with decisions and stuff, but he knows it's better for the group and like everybody's kind of been working as a group, but I feel like now we're all splitting in different directions. We're like Tala's pissed at Riggus, Trixie's gonna be upset at Riggus. She doesn't know what's going on. Galford's gonna be trying to get Riggus. And I think out of everything, Braneth is gonna be the easiest person for someone to go, hey, yeah, you should side with me.

You have no idea what's going on. Like she's gonna be the easiest person for someone to convince to help and side with her. Like she's gonna be the easiest for like Galford to go, hey, you know, my buddy Riggus here, he's really having a tough time. This is really touching him personally. Can you kind of help me make him feel better about this? Like she's gonna be the easiest person for someone to kind of convince her to side with them in this massive argument we're about to have. - Well, and I think Braneth's backstory too, we'll probably all reveal that to each other, but we'll make more sense of why she would kind of stick around us too and why the next leg of our journey may be important to her as well as Riggus, which may cause the two of them to bond 'cause they're both good sort of.

Alanna, your character is good, right? - I am aligned. I am aligned good, but oh, am I really not happy being in a cell right now? - Exactly, okay. - Oh, my character's not happy on a lot of levels. You know, Riggus is just one more thing to add to the list more or less. She is, top of her list is like, I did what I was asked to do, which was get the dragon and I'm getting punished for it. I don't think so. - Yeah, like we're gonna- - You kind of did it. - Like, I mean, okay. You definitely did attain the goal. Like you went and got the dragon. In the sloppiest, like most destructive way possible.

- And you know, that just more goes with my character's racial class. It's not about doing it pretty for a shifter like me. It's getting the job done and that's what I did. - It's like someone asking you, hey, you mind making me an omelet? Oh, sure, and you rip everything out of the refrigerator and throw it on the ground to get to the eggs in the back. And it's like, here's your omelet. - But you got an omelet. - It's like, Jesus Christ, yeah, but not at this price. - We can't be surprised that we would be fucked over in the city of thieves though. Like, I mean, everything smelled like that from walking in there, 'cause we didn't have a clear goal when we came into the city.

Like we didn't know if we wanted to get a boat or get a job or get a burger or like, so since the first job that we took was one of the most dangerous and influential jobs we could take, we didn't even really get to know anything about the other houses or whatever too, that I feel more like, while we're in a shitty place right now, this has become a vehicle to have a much better story because some of the characters are gonna be connected to what's happening to us next. There's a really good reason why Baranath and Rekis are not gonna be happy to go in with slave traders. Tala's gonna be full of rage.

Galford's trying not to piss off Rekis so much that it's gonna sever the relationship, but at the same time, he wants to consistently manipulate everyone to make everything advantageous. So Galford is trying to be selfish for the group, but it's so hard for him, 'cause he knows that he could probably do a few things that would be advantageous to himself and he could break off from the group and carry on his merry way, but there's reasons why he wants to stay with this group. So trying to manipulate for the good of everyone is such a slippery slope to be climbing.

- I'd love this right now. - It's getting good. It took us a few episodes to find where the story is. This is kind of taken off really quickly, and most of it's having a backstory, and you guys have, I'll tell you what, no one from group one has given me a backstory yet. - Oh, really? - Yeah, that's pretty nice. - Not a one. - That's why Dan was giving me crap for doing my backstory and he's trying to watch "Breaking Bad." - Not a one. So, and you see, I mean, having a backstory kind of gives you an attachment to your character, it kind of fleshes that as a real thing.

So now, like, you're playing a character and there's a character to play. So that's, it's really cool. Like, it makes the game better. Like, when you, when he said, one guy had said that we were gonna be sold as slaves, I immediately, like, physically, I put my, I had my feet crossed on this chair and sitting in, I put my feet down on the ground, I leaned forward, I was like. - Isn't that the best when you kind of get lost into the fantasy of things? It's like, oh wait, this isn't real. Hold on a second. Tyson didn't really just fuck me over in real life.

It's okay. - That's why when Riekis is getting mad in his cell, I'm just like, I'm staying with the Galford, I'm staying with the Galford. I'm not just, I'm not actively trying to poke Ryan, like. (laughing) - Oh no, trust me, like, I will, I will let you know if you're being really rude personally, but every time Riekis has gotten angry, it's Riekis. Trust me. - Oh yes, absolutely. - And I will come up every second. (laughing) (soft music) - If you've enjoyed this episode of Dungeons & Random, this, go ahead and give us a review on iTunes.
