Yeah, I did time, but you're only going to cast aspersions at me. From the director of Mr. and Mrs.

Smith and The Bourne Identity comes a new film. It's your first job? I know what I'm doing. It's a little late for a crit change. Starring Matt Damon. Everybody in New England is after us. And Casey Affleck. Go, go, go, go, go! What are you doing? Taking notes. Taking notes on a criminal conspiracy. The Instigators, rated R. Streaming August 9th on Apple TV+. Ooh, let's do that thing where we go around the table and introduce ourselves. I'm Jason. I'm the Dungeon Master. Going around the table, start with Lisa. Hey, I'm Lisa, and I play Elorath Beestinger, the halfling barbarian.

And Jane. Hi, I'm Jane. I play Ephony the Gnomebird. She plays Jane in real life, everybody. And Zach. What's up? My name is Zach, and I play Avalon Bates, the human ranger marauder. And Karen. Hi, I'm Karen, and I play Irina Stonebreaker, a mole paladin. And Valerie. Hi, I'm Valerie, and I play Sora Greywing, the halfling ranger. Guys, we're playing a session. [LAUGHTER] Wait, I don't want to be here anymore. Oh. Just kidding. Guys, last time on the show, you were attacked. You were attacked in the forest. You were trying to rescue somebody. In the process, you ended up losing Zoya and the innocent bystander that you were-- well, presumably innocent-- that you were trying to rescue in the first place.

And you decided that there wasn't much you can do, so you would try to meet back with them on the road, hopefully. Unfortunately, you just didn't see them. So maybe Winterhaven is the next best thing. Maybe they'll just-- you all know where the destination is, so maybe that's just the best thing to do. So the last thing we left off with is a touching little campfire scene. And then you guys heading toward Winterhaven. It is the 14th of Thorim. Now, everyone do me a favor. Roll a perception check. I'm good at these. Oh my god. Are you? Ladies and gentlemen, the first roll officially on the table today, crit one.

Natural one. Oh, thank god, Zach. And Jane, thank god. Two of you got your shit together. Mostly thank god, Zach. I like that one. Let's see. Efni and Avalon are going to notice some stuff. OK. Let me talk about what everybody's going to notice first, and then we're going to get into the nittier, grittier stuff. So the city of Winterhaven is this huge walled city in the north, right? And behind it, you got beautiful snow-capped mountains. And if you're looking just to the west, you'll see Thunderspire way off in the distance. It's this huge kind of leaning tower.

And this place is just hustling, bustling. Now, traditionally, the gates to Winterhaven are closed, and a lot of that's because of what was going on with the Warforge and Overwatch and stuff like that. Only recently have they kind of had this open gate policy. There's kind of this airlock system where there's a gate, then walls, then a second gate, and they kind of let you through. Right now, everything's open. People are pouring in and out. You know, on their way. Something Avalon and Efni are going to notice is that you could tell recently there has been massive cleanup efforts outside the city.

Because, OK, picture this gorgeous, huge city, right? Lots of wood architecture, stuff like that. And the outside is just stone walls and such. There's some chips in the walls and things. And in the background, you could tell that there is something kind of launched into the city. You could tell some damage to the building, some of the taller ones. And then outside, thousands of dead bodies. Thousands. Most of them were forged. We're talking-- I mean, we're talking thousands and thousands. So you could tell they tried to pull them away from the city. And away from the city, there are hills, mounds of bodies, just metallic scrap.

It looks like discarded-- some of it just discarded full suits of armor. I mean, hills, landfills worth of dead. And then there are some bodies. You could tell that there were some ditch digging efforts, maybe. Some mass graves, that type of thing. Again, kept tastefully away from the city so that they didn't have to deal with that smell. But leading in, it looks pretty welcoming outside of that. It doesn't look like-- it's a lot less standoffish than it's been in the past. Security is a little more lax. Something I wanted to ask you guys. Are you guys wearing any Overwatchian colors type of thing?

Is there any like hometown pride type thing? Or is it more ravens? Are you guys more just kind of like, look, we're here for the ravens. And if the city gets better, awesome. But you do live there technically. And I didn't know. I feel like we would be a little bit. Didn't we get fresh new clothes and stuff when we were there? Like we restocked. I didn't know if it was-- I feel like they, as a city, are greatly-- OK, it's kind of like trying to rebrand the swastika, though. It's like, no, no, this isn't your daddy's swastika. This is like a new, hipper, happier swastika.

It's going to be really tough. Really tough. It's a tough sell. I mean, I know Arena just got like her armor fixed. So she just has all of her like pallet of cord stuff. So nothing extra. OK. I was just more taking a pulse of the group, seeing how you felt. I'd say the only thing that stood out about Avalon is his bear medallion. Yeah, definitely stands out. Oh, yeah, I guess so. I forgot about the bear medallion. Don't know how I forgot about that. It's not gross anywhere, so that's better. Yeah, no, it's just weird. It's just quite flashy. It's a new fashion statement, OK?

OK. I want to, once and for all, because that was a question. We got like an email or two. It's like, how big is this bear paw? Like, OK. So a regular bear paw, if you-- like take a grizzly or something like that, that's a pretty sizable thing. Because like, hey, every time you explain this, I feel so stupid. No, don't feel stupid. It's huge. It's funny. It's just like, OK, hold out your hand in front of your face. Now, basically, like it's at least three or four times the size of that. Because this is like massive-- this was a dire bear, you guys thought. So this is a big, big animal.

So I imagine it pretty much covers Avalon's chest and down to his stomach. Like it's a big, bulky item. But looks cool, like spread out like claws and stuff. Like it looks cool. And if I may, I imagine the claws are like sticking out. You know what I mean? Oh, it's like cupped instead of like against your chest. OK. That's probably good. Because the first time you get punched, they're going into your abdomen. Yes. That makes sense. That's good. Are you planning on that? No. OK. Would you? Yes. [LAUGHTER] Just going to make a note right here. Let me just cross something out.

Hold on. I assume those are like the five little daggers. Yeah, basically. Yeah. OK. A little. No, no. So are you guys just kind of heading into the city? Because there's not a checkpoint to go through or anything like that. It's pretty much just walk in, walk out. You got Heinrich in tow. [GASPS] I heard about Heinrich. Oh, yeah. We have a dog. Yeah. You guys got responsibility. Bug. Hey, guys. We had to go get dog armor, remember? Oh, that's right. We're going to go shopping for the dog. Should we just scope out the area first? Maybe get a lay of the streets or something, just like, what's happening?

I don't know. So what's the first thing when we step inside the city? OK, well, let's write this perception check into the city here. So nothing for arena. Nothing for me. There are houses and streets. That's what arena notices. Yes. Looks very city-like. We're just leaving her blindfolded to a surprise party. [LAUGHTER] Winterhaven has a much different feel than Overwatch does, whereas Overwatch is a little more-- OK, it's a little more law and order. OK, picture a very stringent home ownership association. It's getting looser and a little crazy there right now because of all these different races and stuff.

It's tougher to coexist. Winterhaven has a much more communal feel. It's still a big city, big, big city. But it's very-- everyone knows each other feel. You can tell these people have been through a lot. And they have to work together because it's a different environment. It's colder. They've had some hardship. So the first thing you'd notice is a lot of people on the streets, people trying to get you-- like, a lot of people selling things on the streets, that type of thing, like homemade wares and fruit, veggies, that type of thing. It's like, oh, man, you're going to want dinner tonight.

Oh, man, we got some fresh boar. We got that type of thing. And that would be right as you walk in. There's lots of carts and people set up. And then there's lots of little things, like people just spreading news. There's flyers. There's a lot of homemade zines type thing. It's like, oh, man, I just heard from Donhurst, this is going on. And this thing, it's like, did you hear about Lockford? Holy shit. Like, that kind of thing. You definitely hear that type of people catching up on world news. That's adorable. Yeah. Yeah. So there's-- OK. There's a number of things you guys could do.

Because you could just go right-- like, you can get to the mission at hand, totally up to you. There's inns and bars and stuff you could visit. There's-- you can kind of get a lay of the land of what's going on on the streets, as it were. Kind of see if there's any rumors, if there's any gossip, something like that. Like a street watch? Well, yes. Hey. Oh, my god. Where did all my gun rolls go? Can I have my 27 back from earlier? Nah. Nah. Whatever. OK. Word on the street. A big thing going on right now is-- so, OK. Lot of restructuring going on, right? And there's kind of people nearby towns like Aubrey and Durr-Hollow kind of reaching out.

There's a tiny-- there's the tiniest bit of friction between Durr-Hollow and Winterhaven. Because Durr-Hollow needed help. And they decided at the time-- there's a guy kind of running the show there named Ellis Arroway, who decided, look, we need help and Overwatch offered. So they kind of reached out and got some financial aid from Overwatch and some guards were sent. A group was sent there to deal with slavers. And there was a group that previously was there that sort of burned things and maybe made things a little worse. So Ellis-- What? Yeah, Ellis reached out to Overwatch and they helped and continue to help, actually, even after the fall of their king.

And Ellis died, sadly. But yeah, there's a big fight there. And yeah. So rebuilding efforts-- so there's a little bit of friction between them. It's like, oh, fine. Now that all the fighting's done, they're still trading and such. The other big thing going on is the current leader of Winterhaven-- ill is a word for it, very gravely injured. And word on the street is he might die. I know. Aw. And there's a big split going on about how to run the city and what should be done. There's two sides of this argument, essentially. Now, they're the traditionalists who have lived here for a very long time and think that the Lord of Winterhaven should be the person calling the shots, that whoever is in charge, Lord or Lady of Winterhaven, whatever it might be, should be the one to lead the city.

And the other side of that is people saying, look, he's very sick and will probably die. Even if he were to get better, he's a kid. He's like 17. Like, what? Like, he doesn't know shit. So other people should run it. So there's a council right now calling shots in the interim. There's a council of three people kind of making decisions for the city. Those are the two big things you'd know from that role. Would I know the names of the people who are in the council? Yeah. Sure. Combs, Freeman, and Erla. Cool. So what do you guys feel and like? What do you think would be your first, like, walk into the gates of Winterhaven, just kind of-- there's lots of activity and hustle and bustle.

What would be the first thing you guys would probably want to go do? That long trip, too, I'd like to remind you. I was going to say, would we want to get cleaned up or anything before we went to see-- Oh, probably. Yeah. Should we try to establish a place to sleep, like an inn, before we go out and do stuff? Maybe drop, like, most of our gear off. Yeah. Yes. I think that would probably be a good idea. Well, there's a few places you could stay, but you're probably going to want to pick something close to, like, Winterhaven Hall, which is the kind of epicenter of the city.

That's where decisions are made. That's where Nathaniel lives. That's where the council-- right around there is where the council meets. And there is an inn nearby called the Fancy Gentlemen. Ooh. And that is-- That's delightful. Yeah, definitely within your price range. And there's a bar right next to it. Excellent. Holla. What is the-- Isn't our price range, like, amazing? Nothing? Well, OK. It depends on-- OK. You remember, you were given a substantial amount of gold. Some of it is to kind of stimulate the economy. And some of it is more like, hey, we're not racist anymore.

Let's maybe help you guys out. And also, you have, like, a giant thing of gems, too. Yep. Oh, yeah. That's right. I forgot about that. So I think we're good. Might be. Yeah. Again, diplomacy is still going to be needed, because, you know, I think that there is a lot of bad blood in the city towards Overwatch. Like, a lot. And rightfully so. So let's check you into the Fancy Gentlemen. And unless there's anything, like, special that you want to do there, we can just check you in and, like, make it noted. It's like, you're probably going to stay there for a while.

You don't exactly know when you're leaving. Yeah, we're just going to assume Aveline didn't talk to anybody. Definitely handle them. I would imagine you're getting cleaned up. You can even stay there the night, honestly, because by the time you get there and, like, kind of get comfortable in the city-- you know, OK, look. Have you ever taken a long trip, and you check into your motel room, hotel room, like, midday? The day is pretty much a wash. You just kind of-- Yeah. You just, like, oh-- Oh, definitely. Every time. Let's just see what's on local cable and zone out for a while.

We got a road leg. Arena would definitely, like, want to get cleaned up. And then, like, as soon as she's done with that, she'll just, like, kind of hang around outside, like, by the bar, and just, like, just keep an eye on, like, how things operate in the general vicinity. Just, you know, throw that out there. Are you announcing that you're from Overwatch? Negative. No. I don't think there's a reason for this yet. I'm thinking about it. Well, I didn't know if it was one of those, like, hi, we'd like the diplomat prices, please. I didn't know if you were trying to make a play for that or if you're just-- Oh.

I don't think so. Yeah, I feel like we'd just be like, hey. So just kind of lay low. Yeah. OK, cool, cool, cool. You're just travelers. Trying to get our bearings, you know? That's cool. Relax a little bit, you know? And I don't know if we're, like, the haggling type party. I mean, Adolin's great at it, but I don't know about anybody. Yeah, you haven't before, but I was just more curious. Not even for the haggling of it, just to, like, oh, we're here. I didn't know if you were doing-- I was thinking about it, but no. OK. Oh, boy. So 15th. Let's just jump to the next day, 15th of Thorim.

Boop, boop, boop. What's your first order of business? What would you like to do in the city today? The city is your oyster. Sorry? Well, I was going to say, were you going to say breakfast? Yes. I was going to say, we should have breakfast, and then, like, just chat about, like, what we want to do for the day. Yeah. That works. So we're going to start a running tab at the fancy gentleman. Oh, god. So I would imagine you come in, and it's like, look, we're fine money-wise. Maybe flash him some gold, and just, like, hey, just keep our room for us and everything.

So we'll just start a running tab, and at the end, when you check out, you'll pay. Oh, god. OK. They have had problems with deadbeats in the city. Poor Merkin Silvershaper. Oh, man. So this guy runs a shop in town where he makes prosthetic limbs. And using mild blood magic, pats, can have these new limbs work with you. So there was a crew that came in a while back, right? Oh, my god. Mm-hmm. Had this guy outfit a new arm for someone, and then they just left him high and dry. Didn't pay. Really, it's just-- he was out a bunch of money. It's a shame. Really is. So it kind of ruins it for everybody.

Are these people wanted? Sounds like a crime. By him, yes. OK. Him and his boys. OK, I get you. I get you. You know, yeah. It's a real shame. But so we'll start a running tab. OK. I don't know, you probably put down a little bit of a deposit. Like, just be like, hey, just, you know, like-- Yeah, we're good for it. We're good. Yeah. OK, sweet. So there'd be a lovely little breakfast, and Heinrich would be cozied up probably next to Avalon, just waiting. Either waiting for Avalon to-- either waiting for Avalon to drop something or feed him. So it's just kind of like-- Avalon feeds him.

And the way he does it is he holds out a piece of whatever, and he holds it to his mouth, and he just kind of like stares at him while he eats it. Staring at the dog? Yes, staring the dog in his eyes while he eats it. And he'll say, that's a good boy, Heinrich. You're going to need all your energy. Wait, is Avalon eating the food and staring at the dog, or the dog's eating the food and Avalon's staring at the dog? The dog is eating the food. OK. OK. Imagine, like, Avalon's holding his hand out for the dog to eat it, and when he's eating the dog, just looking-- I mean, Avalon's just looking at the dog eating, like, yes.

You need to be full. OK. I would imagine Heinrich's the kind of dog that, like, doesn't beg, but will, like, sidle up next to you and then just kind of, like, lay his head on your lap and just kind of, like, stare at you while you eat. Loves people food? Yes. Just-- Gotcha. Yes. Sounds like my dog. Ours too. Aw. I guess I really could start. I should just be like, so what-- I know we're here for, you know, important reasons, but I know we had talked about doing other things, and so I just didn't know how everyone was feeling about what order exactly we were going to do our stuff in.

Well, we were given a mission, and I do think we should complete it. However, I don't think it's time concerning, and I think it's more important to stimulate the economy, first and foremost. So I think we should explore a little bit. He said, stimulate the economy first. But-- Yes. --like, what if they, like, need our help or something? Like, we got to-- like, what if we, like, dilly dally around, and then, like, they're like, oh, we could have used you two days ago. Like, rah. You have a point. I didn't think about that. I did hear a few things. I was kind of hanging around the bar last night, and their lord is pretty injured.

And so right now, there's, like, a council running everything. So I mean, we didn't really think it was time sensitive, but it could be if their lord would not make it. No, you're right. And I mean, we could, like, check, maybe. Because, like, I know Liara is real busy and stuff, and we have to wait a little bit. So if we could, like, put our-- I don't know, like, put our names, just be like, hey, we're here. Come find us if you need us. We'll be out shopping. [SIGH] Oh. Maybe set wheels in motion with the council first, maybe. We could definitely, like, announce our intentions.

And then-- I agree. And then if they're busy, then they're busy. And then we can do whatever you wanted to do. And she's going to gesture at Avalon with a piece of, like, toast or something. When you gesture with a piece of toast, Avalon tries to take it out of your hand, like you offer it to him. Oh, no. No, son. Oh. Oh. So you don't let him have it? No. So we, like, we kind of pull back and forth a little bit before Avalon gets it. What? Sorry. I feel like we rip the toast in half, and she just looks at you horrified. Bruh. Sorry. Do you want this back? No, I'm good.

You can have it. Avalon eats it. She picks up another one and just stares at you and eats that awkwardly. Is this a thing where you just all pretty much came downstairs and started eating breakfast? Or was it just kind of like stepping on the street, stretch, that type of thing first? Well, I would believe it's, yeah. We just came downstairs and ate. Yeah. This was a complimentary breakfast for him. Oh, yes. Oh, yeah. And we just all kind of came out of our rooms, like only kind of half dressed, like just presentable enough to be out with people. But you're not dressed for the day.

Right. I have never stayed-- I really dressed for the day. I have never stayed at a place nice enough to have a complimentary breakfast. Oh, no, it's bad. There was like a muffin. There was like a muffin at a Days Inn once, I think I had. It was not a good muffin. Oh. It was a muffin of shame. It was a muffin of shame. I feel like five days old, so. It was purchased at like a grocery store a few days back. Everyone do me a favor, roll a streetwise check. Oh, great. Oh, this should be good. Oh, what the fuck? OK, cool. Holy shit. Thank God. What? What? Avalon, get out of here.

Why? Avalon is from the streets, if you didn't know. That ain't funny. Thank God. Good Lord. OK. I don't even know how I would role play Avalon knowing something like this. This is unnatural. Literally. Bacon heightens your senses. As does everyone. Like, I think that's a general role. I think we're all better people with bacon inside us. Guys, couple of things. This morning, news got out about a little something that's happening on the 22nd in the city. Now, you get the impression, being as how people are talking about it, it's kind of hushed, like hushed whispers, that type of thing.

But what was supposed to be a public event that was going to be sort of sprung on people at the last minute so that there wasn't too much of a fervor has got out. There is going to be a trial for Malchus Grimness in the city on the 22nd. That is a little over a week away. Arena, Avalon-- Hi. How is it even possible? I'm really excited. Arena, Avalon, and Elorath are going to hear about something else. Now, the trial is very interesting. And a lot of people are talking about, there are a number of opinions. Some people regard Malchus as the hero Winterhaven deserves, that type of thing.

Just like, look, can he be abrasive? Yes, he can be. But he came back when we needed him to and dealt with those pesky Warforged, that type of thing. The Warforged didn't exactly make a lot of friends in this community, whether they be on the side of Overwatch or independent and living in Odysse at the time. And then the other opinion being, he abandoned the city. He kind of brought this on everybody and then only half dealt with the problem. And we lost a lot of people due to this war that could have been avoided years ago, that type of thing. But the other thing that Elorath, Arena, and Avalon are going to pick up is, there is something people are whispering about in even more hushed tones.

There's a bar next door called the Thin Bear. And the rumor is that if you stay after hours at the Thin Bear in the basement, there is some sort of tournament, some sort of like a bare knuckle fisticuffs thing. It's almost like a club for fighting. I don't know what you'd call something like that. But it's pretty much like a strong person competition and just who's the toughest person. And the rumor is that there is actually quite a lot of coin to be won if you're good. And it's something being kept very hush-hush because it's fairly illegal. It's not something that's condoned by Winterhaven.

But a lot of people are just like, look, as long as no one dies, people aren't really getting hurt. It's just fistfights. But those are the two things you would pick up this morning. And that would be just people kind of coming in and out. You'd hear whispers at the front counter type of thing. And the Malkus thing is getting a lot of murmurs. But the club of fighting, let's call it, is something you would overhear as well. Aveline rolled a natural 20. I can't even ignore-- like, he knows this now. My god. All right. Ooh. I think Aveline, if we're all sitting at the table eating, he's going to say, so how do you all feel about Malkus Grimness?

I don't know who that is. How much do we know about Malkus? Yeah, I guess to me-- Peeples told us about Malkus. Have they? Peeples, yeah, a bit. A little. Oh, wait, I remember I rolled a thing about Overwatch and then I know about Malkus. JK, I know some stuff. You know some stuff. I heard he did some stuff. Yeah. Yeah. Well, he seems awfully powerful to me. I would like to meet him. What do you all say? Is he even here? He has to be, right? That's how those things work. Or if he's not here now, he will be on the 22nd by the sounds of things. Hm. Hm. Aveline points-- I mean, Aveline looks at Ethany and nods emphatically.

Like, that's what he was trying to say. I mean, yeah. I don't know how long we'll be here, but if we have the time, I think we should get a little interested. We could definitely look into it. Or we're going to be here for a little bit, I think. So. I agree. Now, what was that? I heard something else about fighting. And Aveline's not whispering, by the way. Elora's eyes are going to light up. Why would someone fight under her ground? Why not fight in the street? Well, when you aren't supposed to be fighting-- Why not? Because it's not what civilized society does.

In my clan, when two people had a problem with each other, they'd go off at night and one would come back. The other would come back later that night, but you know. [LAUGHTER] They just talked it out. Talked it out. They didn't, like, punch each other until they got over it? How would that solve anything? We need to see each other in order to hunt. Why would we need each other? You didn't just get, like, so pissed or somebody that you're like, I'm going to punch your face. And they're like, yeah, well, I'm going to punch your face. And then they just, like, swing at each other until you're, like, standing there.

You're like, what the fuck were we even fighting about? I don't know. Let's go get a beer. You don't do that? That seems like a prime opportunity for a predator to strike when you're tired. So no, I would not do that. Oh. Well, OK. Because, uh, all right, well, I'm going to do it. All right, cool. Haven't you ever had, like, a group member who thought that they were stronger than everyone else and they tried to prove it? Oh, of course. Well, not you, Alara. You are the strongest. Well, that's kind of what this is, is people trying to prove that they are stronger than everyone else.

I see. So it's almost like a race. But with punching. With their fists. Yes. Hmm. Evelyn's going to go deep into thought. I mean, that could be pretty fun. I'm just saying. I wouldn't say no if we wanted to. But it's illegal. Evelyn kind of says that loudly. [RASPBERRY] God damn. If we're here for Overwatch, we can't do anything illegal. Oh my god. She's going to give you a look like, fucking be cool. [LAUGHTER] The wide eye is like the point it's standing. God, this motherfucker. I heard it's just next door, by the way. Under the basement. Such a weird place to fight.

How they have light. I cannot see such a dark place. Oh, Jesus. Oh, god. [LAUGHTER] I imagine that there are probably candles or magical-- Torches. Of course. Torches. Yeah. He says that loudly like he figured something out. [LAUGHTER] And Rina's got like a hand covering the inside of her face that's near Evelyn. And she's pointing to Alarath like, you, me, next door. Really? Just mouth full of toast. Yes. [LAUGHTER] Well, if it's something you're all interested in, I could tag along. There is a beauty in fighting that could be reciprocated even here. So it might be worth the watch.

Well, we'll see how things kind of play out because probably shouldn't be talking about this. Why not? Because it's legal. Yes. Yes, it is. And we could get in trouble. Us? We didn't do anything. We could probably alert people to something that's happening. So maybe lower your voice a little bit. Why, this is our conversation. Yes. But other people have ears, and they could listen. No. Oh, no. Oh, no. Before we get to this, I have a very important question. OK. Is that why rule number one is don't talk about fight clubs? [LAUGHTER] Wow. Like, is that why it's don't talk about fight clubs?

I always thought that it was just an arbitrary rule. It was like, oh, so funny. Rule number one, fight club. Don't talk about fight club. Ha ha, joke's on us. That would be the reason, yes. Oh, my gosh. I-- oh. [LAUGHTER] I've never seen the movie, so-- I love you, Valerie. Just-- I mean, context clues. I just-- I'm so mad we had to run a scenario for you to understand that. Like-- [LAUGHTER] That is amazing. But the point is, she knows, and knowing is-- This whole D&D game is for Valerie to learn things. It basically is. Yeah, I feel like we've all been on a journey today.

I really-- Yeah. I really do. This has been a really good session, guys. Yeah. Let's pack it up. All right, done. OK. Ready for episode 200. I really needed to get that off my chest. Well, here's the thing. While you guys are chit-chatting, you're going to draw the attention of the front desk clerk. His name is Ray. And you're going to-- the first time-- the first time, like, Abilene kind of gets a little loud, like, you're going to hear, like, a throat clear or something and, like, moving around up front. And then by the time-- like, he keeps going, obviously.

And then just as Arena's telling us, like, hey, maybe you shouldn't. And it goes on. And he's going to-- he's going to sort of knock. Like, just that thing where it's like, you guys are all kind of seated together and stuff like that, but just, like, knocked, like, hmm, excuse me. Hi. Ah, couldn't tell. But over here, are you-- and he's going to move in very close. Are you folks interested in maybe entering our little tournament? I mean, that is, if you people are cool. Evelyn, you do seem to have some money, so-- oh, you're a part of that too, huh? And he's going to be like, no, we're definitely not interested, but also shaking her head yes. [LAUGHTER] Wait, Arena, I thought a second ago you said you were interested.

Shh. Shh. Shh. Evelyn, have some more toast. Oh, it's delicious. [LAUGHTER] Well-- She gives it to you this time. [LAUGHTER] Just, like, forcefully shoving it into his mouth. Just shove it into his mouth. And he's going to get real close to the group. All right. So if you want in, all you got to do is go next door. Just kind of hang out at the bar tonight after dark, and then just sort of linger as things close up, shop, and let a Sohora know that Ray sent you. He'll take you downstairs and introduce you to the gang. Make sure you're bringing 100 gold for everybody who wants in.

If you want in, you're going to have to get past a sort of introductory fight to make sure you make it on the bracket. But after that, you're gold. Thank you for this lovely breakfast. [LAUGHTER] Just trying to be, like, nuts. Right. Like, oh, yes, totally. We understand 100%. Thank you. All right, I'll leave you good folks to it. Just make sure and keep this under your hat, OK? And he's looking dead at Avalon, just OK. And he's, like, nodding his head real slow. I don't wear a hat. He's eating toast. That's what I was waiting for. I was waiting for that line.

He's just kind of biting his lower lip, like, I don't understand how you're not getting this. So I guess we're just staring back at each other. I'm looking at this man dead in his eyes. Heinrich would kind of, like, just kind of, like, huff as he puts his head back on Avalon's lap. And the guy's just going to give up. After, like, I'd say 30 seconds of staring at Avalon, just he'd glance at the rest of the party and then just, like, back up slowly and just, like, OK? [LAUGHTER] F-nail winking. We've got it. OK. That would kind of set his mind at ease a little bit.

Nice guy. Beautiful eyes. [LAUGHTER] Serena's got, like, her face in her hands, just, like, massaging her temples, like, good. So what would you guys like to do? Go check in with some councilmen. Let's do it. Yeah, you should probably find out, like, the building they're in and, you know. Wouldn't you like the-- --the Winterhaven Hall. Yeah. All right. Everyone, OK, you know what? Let's pick Jane. Jane, do me a favor and roll a flat d20 for me. Oh, you would pick me. [LAUGHTER] You do. There you go. That's good. That's pretty good. It's not a lot of numbers. It's above a one. [LAUGHTER] Standing in the corner kind of low.

And the city explodes. The end. Dirt hollow all over again. Everything's on fire. Whores raining from the sky. That's Malchus's trial built. There you go. You're welcome. Oh, golly. So here's what we're going to do. You guys are going to walk across town here. And again, very, very busy and stuff. People are just kind of getting started for the day. And Winterhaven Hall is not as busy as the rest of the city. There are people moving about. There are people cleaning and organizing and such. And they're going to stop you if you try to go to Winterhaven Hall itself.

There's a lot of it that's just like, eh, da, da, da, da, da. Who are you? That type of thing. And I would probably be the first-- there is a gentleman, a half-elf, who would probably introduce himself after the guards. They're like, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. And he would walk up to the group and kind of give a deep bow. Hello. My name's Brennan Garth. I'm actually an executive here. If there's something I can help you with, question I can answer perhaps? And he's going to be kind of looking expectantly. Sorry. He's going to be looking expectantly at the party.

Go ahead. We were looking to see if we could speak to a member of the council. Oh, may I ask what about? Is this something that you had on the books for a while? We are diplomats of a sort. We're, firstly, White Ravens. But we're also here on business from the Overwatch. Oh, look. Looks kind of-- where it is very, very overly friendly, very-- oh, kind of like he smelled a fart. Just kind of that look. Not bad. Overwatch, you say? Yeah, we were sent here by the new queen, Queen Liara. Yes, we've actually received quite a few letters in the past week or so. Well, the council members have their hands full at the moment.

Actually, in preparation for something, I can pass a message along, though, and maybe one of them could make some time. OK. I mean, there's no way you would give it to him, like, to hold. But if he can pass it to him, he will. Yeah, so we did have a letter from Queen Liara. And then we had something else with that. But I wouldn't feel comfortable giving it to anybody but the council or your lord. OK, do me a favor. Roll a diplomacy check. OK. Boom. Wow. Wow. Almost a crit. There you go. Jeez. Mm, mm, mm. Sorry. So fart look is going to go away as you produce a letter.

Because one, it's on the level. And because it's got the seal and everything like that. And then two, it's, oh, OK, you're OK. You don't seem so bad. But maybe there's something we could work out. Well, I will pass this up the chain right away. And maybe in a day or two, we could see about meeting someone. Would that be OK? Yes. We understand that the council is very, very busy. But we are just here to offer help and support. And anything that we could do, we would be willing. That is very much appreciated. Allow me to see what I can do. Where are you staying?

At the fancy gentleman. I'll send word as soon as I have any to give. Thanks so much. And he's going to go ahead and take this letter. And hand it off. Everyone, do me a favor and roll a perception check for me. Hey, I'm not terrible. Hey-o. I just don't understand why they're so bad. I have a decent modifier. I just, why? Why is that bad? Oh, I was looking at diplomacy. Oh. Yeah, no, it's 11. Oh, yeah, that's not great. No. I'm sorry, but you did a great diplomacy check. Hey, thanks. Can't take that away from you. Wav, bald motherfucker. Yeah. It's the tattoo. Yeah, it is.

Elarath, Sora, and Avalon. In the midst of your conversation, there's going to be a minor event. So the way Winterhaven Hall is set up is there's this, there's sort of the front doors and then there's this long hallway leading back. And you can kind of see, again, like I said, there's just like servants running around and people moving and stuff like that. And some of them look like they're just there to clean and prepare food and things like that. But there are a couple of them that look like they have other functions. Like one looks like more of a caretaker, maybe, or like a medic, something like that.

And at one point, while Erina is talking to Brennan, this person is going to move out of the hallway and they're going to look excited, maybe anxious or scared, something like that. And they're going to call for someone. And it looks like a cleric is going to move very quickly across the hall and disappear into a doorway. That's it. Oh, no, why you do this? I did. Poor Nathaniel. Oh, so time to go shopping. It's a pffft. Yeah, sounds about right. I don't know what else I don't think we would be able to be like, hey, somebody's dying back there. Me. Or even if that is what it is.

Yeah. He did look excited. They were somebody woke up. Yeah. In the room with us, though, right? The whole time. And then they went to go call someone else. Not that I saw. OK, so. Oh, I like that. Not that I saw. Aww. Aww. You got a hearty 11, don't. I know. It's OK. I was distracted, being charming. You were talking. I was talking. Before we leave, Irina would like to ask, Brandon, do you know of any good armorsmiths in the town? Like to get some work done. And I'd love a good recommendation. Oh, OK. So, boy, there used to be this great shop in the city up until about recently that burned down.

Oh. So there's kind of a coalition of blacksmiths right now kind of working with each other until this guy gets back on his feet. He was given a little bit of a lump sum that covers some of the cost of the burned down shop. So that's... Sorry. No. Did components burn it down? Yes. I remembered that and apparently could not keep it to myself. Excuse me. No. I apologize. So, yeah, he'd give you it's like, oh, yeah, if you go downtown, there's a they can handle any he's guessing it's like, oh, you're getting something for the party. Probably they can handle big orders on short notice.

So, yeah, he would he would direct you downtown, especially if you're going to be the way you put it. It's like, oh, basically, it's like, oh, we're going to be stimulating the local economy while we're here. That type of thing. Wink, wink. Yeah. Little nudgey nudge. So, yeah. Cool. That's it. OK. Oh, yeah. Like, I don't want to get new armor. She wants to see if somebody can like reinforce the armor she has. OK. Just as a note, I guess. That's that's totally doable. What would everybody else be after? Is there is there is it more decorative or function you guys after like adventures gear or is it more like, I want a new scarf?

Like, is it more like I just want to feel pretty today? Did we get the dog armor or do we like still have to do that? I don't remember. Well, you were in the woods like you could get dog armor. Oh, we were only talking about it. I believe so. Yeah, I think I want to get him custom armor. So I'd go with arena. Cool. Sweet. OK, so putting in an order for one dog armor. He's going to have a little doggy helmet. It's probably mostly stuff that guards the body while not. Yeah, yeah, definitely. Yeah. So he'll be a little slower, but he could hopefully. Man, I hope this dog doesn't die.

Can I just say I really hope this dog doesn't die. You know what? Pets have not fared well so far on the show. And I'm really hoping that Heinrich might they needed armor. OK, for emergencies, I still have the backpack. It's very handy. I don't think that dog's going to that. I mean, OK, dogs have any really. I think so. It's a big dog. Yes, God, you're so small. I think I could just take you away and no one would know. Wow, OK. It's kind of how you showed up. Did you? Good times. So maybe like a montage of like her just in the backpack and just happy music playing.

I'm just like carrying her across the deserted forest and stuff. It's good times. It's good family time. Well, my best friend. I would say hours are going to pass. A majority of you guys' day is probably going to be, you know, it's like getting measurements for the dog. And it's like, oh, what would you like it made out of? Oh, OK. And then they'll take custom orders. And then you guys probably like stop and get a bite to eat. It's like mall shopping, but just, you know, like at a Renaissance fair. So, yeah, I would say it's that's pretty much the day. You guys out and getting re-outfitted and we'll make a bunch of updates to your character sheets in a while.

And I'd say now it's like dusk. OK. Ella and Raff have gotten a bead or something to put in like a front braid that just kind of dangles a long part of her hair. Not because it's like cute or anything, but she's just like, that's fun. Look at that. She probably saw like some little girl walking around with one. She's like, I want that. She beat up the little girl and took it. I mean, she's preparing for this club of fighting. Yeah, just like a little charm or something, because I think in her picture she kind of has like a little braid and like the long part of her hair.

So just like a little bead or something. That's cute. OK. I was like, like a lavender color or something. I don't know if they got it. So after we're done shopping and the day is over, Atherton will say, wow, we actually spent the whole day doing that. We still have coin left. It's amazing. Does that not normally happen when you go shopping? Well, when I'm not with Atherton, you know. Whatever I make, just you kind of lose yourself in the deals, you know? Oh, OK. That's why you've got to set yourself like a budget. A budget? Yeah. So set amount that you want to spend, and then you stick to that amount.

Why would I set an amount? What if I wanted to spend more? That you put it at the more. You're like, OK, I have 100 gold, and I only want to spend 75 gold. So that I have like some gold left for later, like for food and stuff. No? OK. Evelyn's scratching his head. They're just shaking hers. Yeah. Efney looks at Irina and says, had this conversation with him. Yes, it does sound familiar. Why do you have any money? Like, do you have any money? No, I don't. No, I haven't. Oh, OK. I just imagine that you've spent all your money, and then you have nothing to spend on food or lodging.

But-- I never really have. I've hunted for the food I've needed, and everything else comes naturally. I could probably live off nothing for the rest of my life. That's good, though. That's good. But we don't have to do that now. Definitely, this food is much better than what I could make. Especially Peepo's pancakes. When I get back to Overwatch, I want to-- Two instead of one. Do you think when we meet up with Zoya, like when we find her, that she can give us some of that honey, and then we can put the honey on the pancakes? I hope so. I enjoyed Zoya's honey.

Right? I almost could get these. That was a close one. Wow. Or do you think they have honey and pancakes here? What? And she, like, will turn to Arena with giant eyes. I don't think pancakes is a specific thing to Peepo's, so we could always ask. Peepo is quite a generous man to give away his secrets so easily. [LAUGHTER] Anyways, it's getting dark. Should we head back? I'm kind of thirsty. I think I might go for a drink. How about you, Arena? Yeah, I think there was a bar, right, next to the fancy gentleman? That works well, because while you're there, we can wait until it closes.

Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ. [LAUGHTER] I knew it. Give it. Kill him, you smause. [LAUGHTER] I love Avalanche so much. [LAUGHTER] I really do. It's been a month. I got to release. I'm sorry, guys. It's OK. It's the best. Oh my god. Arena's just going to look at Avalanche really seriously. OK. That's the last time that you can say those words out loud. We cannot talk about this place, especially in the bar. OK, I think I understand. OK. I'm not trying to be mean, but if you want to see people beat the crap out of each other, you can't talk about it. All right. OK. That's-- Like not even to us.

Not even to us. OK. I think I get it. I think I get it. OK. It's kind of like you got to not talk about it because the less you talk about it, the quicker it's going to happen. I see. I see. So we don't talk about it, but we do it physically. Yes. Isn't that just as incriminating to people watching us? I don't understand. Maybe you just do the watching. Hmm. I mean, unless you want to participate, which you can. Should I? I would like to. Do you want to punch things? Um, well, I don't like the sensation of my fist hurting when I hit something hard, but maybe if I aim for the soft spots.

Or maybe you could watch. Hmm. I might just watch. And I know you guys got to look over at Sora and FNA and just be like, do you guys want to participate? Or do you want to even go? I think I'll watch just to make sure nothing crazy happens to you guys. I'd like to watch. I think it would be fun. I'm definitely not going to join in because I'd get wasted on the first hit, but I'd love to watch. I'm feeling very antsy because it's been a little while since I've been in a little fight. Like that hill giant, it was just a little taste. Haven't been in a fight in a little bit.

Well, hopefully they'll let you keep your armor in the fight. So to the thin bear. Da-da-da-da-da-da. Thin bear. You guys sound excited. I'm so excited. Yes. I've been waiting for this my whole life. I've seen years of it. So walking into the thin bear, there is going to be a large gentleman. Big, big bushy beard kind of standing behind the counter. And the second your party walks in, hello! Like big, like boisterous, like makes you feel like a superstar when you walk into this place. And he's going to kind of slam his hand on the bar like, come on over. Come on over.

What can I get you good folks this evening? I'd just like a glass of water, please. OK. I'll take one of your beers. May that, too, please. That's a little more like it. And he's going to go ahead and set you guys up. Give him a little tip. He'll be like, hey, what's your name, by the way? Name's Asura. Can't say that I've seen you good folks around here before. Are you new to the city? We just got in yesterday, actually. We're staying next door. Oh. Do you have business here, or are you just visiting? Just going to look at everyone like, what are we sailing? Avalon is staring at him intently, not feeling a birth.

He's OK. So he's talking to Irina, but every once in a while, you can see his eyes flick over to Avalon. Like, he's either waiting for him to say something or just stop-- just blink, do something. Not blinking at all. No, I figured not. Are you OK? He's going to kind of lean over. Just kind of like laying against the bar. And just grunts. Because we told him not to talk. Right. Did your friend just growl at me? I think it was a sound of not-- I don't know. I don't know. See, this is funny. Please don't take any offense, but usually it's the moles who can't speak.

And it's not funny ha-ha, more funny their tongues were cut out and it's terrible. But it's just usually reversed. It'd be a human or something speaking for the mole and interpreting grunts. I'm going to be quiet now. Hey, I've got a lot of scars, but one of them is not my tongue being cut out. And he's going to kind of raise a glass. And here's to that. She'll not glass with me even though it's just water. Yeah. So we should go find a table. OK. So are you guys just basically waiting things out? Yeah. Thank you very much. Yeah. OK. You're just going to like-- let me sit down to Ava and just like, I didn't say you couldn't talk.

I just said you couldn't talk about that. Oh, there's a difference. Yes. I see. I see. So OK, I think I get it. I'm not just-- I'm not allowed to talk about the fighting that happens underground. God damn it. But I could talk about everything else. Just see what I thought you meant. I couldn't talk about the fighting and the building. We cannot talk about that thing that you were talking about. Damn it. You want to talk about the cool new armor that we just got for Heinrich? You totally can. Like, just trying to change the subject completely. Because it's unrelated to the fighting.

God damn it. That makes sense. I think I understand now, Irina. OK. Thank you. How about you drink up a little bit there? Oh, well. Anthony doesn't let me drink much. Oh. I don't think-- just a couple sips would be good, right? Yeah, let's lower those inhibitions. Yeah. Yeah. I'm just trying to fill his mouth with something. I know. I know. So-- Oh, my. Everyone-- Oh, god. Hours are going to pass here. Everyone do me a favor. Roll a perception check. Hey. What? They're steadily progressing. What? Woo-hoo. That's back to normal. Oh, good. Oh, wow. OK. Elorath, Sora, Efenny. Here's what's going to happen.

You guys are going to just kind of be hanging out in the bar and chilling out. And you're ordering some drinks and stuff. And as the evening goes on, this bar is fairly packed. Like, especially from dusk on to-- and then you'll notice people will start to filter out. And they'll go home after an hour or two. And they'll say hi to their buddies and then eventually just go home and stuff. But every once in a while, a person will like, oh, hey, goodbye. And then instead of walking out the front door, they'll kind of filter into the back. And then you'll just catch a glimpse of a door opening and then the descending stairs and then, boom, closing.

And that'll happen several times. And the longer you guys are in here, the closer it's getting to the closing time. That's happening a little more often. Like, four or five people will kind of filter and disappear. And all in all, you've counted maybe 20, 25 people go downstairs? Dang. That's a lot. That's a lot. So now you guys have a decision to make. Because another thing you'd notice-- let me see. Sora, Ephni, and Elarath would notice that there's a wide array of people. There's male, female, a bunch of different races. Size doesn't seem to be a tremendous issue.

Maybe some of these people are just spectating. But there's a few different types of people. There's your thinner, wiry types, your average builds. And then you got-- you did notice a half-orc go downstairs, which could only be described as hulking monster man. Probably around 6' 7", 6' 8", chiseled muscle. Like, just-- OK, I'll put it this way. If the pairings are random and weight class is not an issue, hope you don't get that guy. Bring it. Don't really. I'll move this. [LAUGHTER] I'll punch him right in his kneecap. So you guys have a decision to make.

Do you still want to pursue this? Or do you want to just kind of let things go and leave? I was going to say, Elarath would probably point it out to Erina and just say, like, I think that's where we need to go. If we're going to go, do we want to go? I mean, I'm still down if you're ready. Good. I'm good. OK. Would Elarath-- quick question. Quick question. Would Elarath tell Erina about the different types of people going in or how many there were or anything like that? I believe she would, but I have one question first. OK. Would she have noticed if there were weapons present?

You would notice people carrying weapons, but everyone's kind of carrying weapons. Not everyone, but a large majority of people are either adventurers or it's like, hey, this is my sword. It stays with me. Not exactly clear whether weapons would be used in the fights. OK. So it would make sense that we would have ours on us-- Yes. --since we were out and about. OK. OK. Then yes. She'd be like, damn, did you see the size of that dude? Shit. And probably tell Erina that. Looks like they're letting everybody and anybody might want to fight down there. I don't know.

I mean, that could be a good thing. Then we could be let in too. Yeah. She's like cracking her knuckles and getting loose, you know, like rolling her shoulders. Wait, weren't we supposed to talk to the bartender and tell him that the inn guy-- Ray? Yeah. He said to kind of hang out, but like-- Like how many more people are in the bar? People are really filtering out now. It's-- you could tell it's winding down. OK. So I mean, we could wait a little bit longer, or we could go talk to Asura. Just kind of-- I mean, like if we go talk to him, we could probably get in quicker.

And then we could get a little more lay of the land. Yeah, let's do that. OK. Time's going to pass a little more. And the last few patrons beyond yourself are going to filter out the front door and leave. And Asura's going to start blowing out lanterns, and there's going to be a few left in the bar. And he's going to kind of walk over to the table. All right, that's going to just about do it for me, yes sir. Anything I can get you folks before I have to send you on to the cool night. Well, we had a conversation with the guy next door, Ray, about-- His eyebrows are going to go up just a little bit.

Yeah. And there's like nobody else in there, right? No, it's just you guys. OK, it's just us. OK. So like just some after hours activities. Really? And you're interested in that? Myself and my friend Ella are out there. She'll wave. Really? I mean, no offense, it's just your-- And he's going to hold out his hand and start to like-- Like hold out his palm and then like lower it to the floor and like to gauge height. It's like your-- Awfully wee. Resting bitch face. Yeah, she's got a mean hook. I assume like through the course of this night, Avalon has had like one full beer because he's been kind of pressured into it and he holds like a lawn chair pressure.

Oh, OK. So like Avalon might be a little tipsy. That might be a real thing. Let's find out. Do me a favor, roll an endurance check for me. Ah, I'd say he's handling it pretty well actually, but he's still Avalon. So OK, at this point, Avalon is going to say. You shouldn't underestimate her. She can fight pretty well. Matter of fact, I might try to fight alongside her. Sign me up as well. Well, OK. Um, I assume Ray told you about the entrance fee and all that nonsense because Ray never shuts up, to be honest. Was it 100 gold? Yes. Is that to get in or to like to play?

It's to well, it's to it's to officially enter. Usually they don't allow like people to just watch because they're trying to keep it like quieter, but they they'd let you in because there's like two or three of you entering, so it's fine. They usually like one guest. You guys are our coaches. He would usher you downstairs as he blows out the rest of the lanterns for the evening and locks up. Yes. Everyone do me a favor. Roll a perception check. Oh, great. Sweet baby tuxedo wearing cheeses. See, Evelyn, Sora, Efony, oh, everyone but Arena. I'm sorry. Let's say everything.

Oh, you're just focusing on the fight. That's all you're. Yeah, you're in your own head. You're hyping up your entrance music in your head is playing like you're you're you're ready. I was thinking more out of the tiger, but OK. Nope, your name is Arena. Step into the arena. What? Hello. That is different connotations. If you get out any who glancing around, you're going to again, it's kind of like it's kind of hot down here, like lots of lots of torches and everything are lit. It's a big spacious basements. It basically is the size of the bar just underneath.

It's big. They're kind of pillars set up and the way the pillars are set up, it almost forms a ring. You can kind of see why they why they did this. So they got rope strung up around these four pillars. And it just creates this space. A lot of people are either shirtless or something, but you could tell like there's an armor and weapons check thing like like cubby holes are set up so that you could put your gear away. This does not look like the type of thing where people are going to be drawing weapons. They kind of want to make sure it's like, hey, let's keep it civil type of thing.

But again, all shapes and sizes, man. There's it kind of runs the gamut. And there it looks like the people who are prepping to fight like you're talking maybe in total everyone down here. You're talking like there's at least 30, maybe 40 people total. Asura would take your money if that's what you're going to do. Yes. Yeah, I'm committed. So, Arena, Elorath, Avelan, you guys are fighting, correct? Yeah. Let's do it. I'm ready to get knocked the fuck out. So Asura is going to kind of get in the ring and like kind of have everybody. All right, all right. Crowd around, crowd around.

First and foremost, if you're new here, try to keep it to ourselves. We don't want to overcrowd this place and draw attention. It's just supposed to be to let off some steam and have some fun. Maybe earn a little coin. Now, there are no weapons, no armor. It's just you against your opponent using your fists. The first one to fall loses. That's it. The end. Okay. Kind of like Gaijin's, everyone's kind of murmuring. Now for you guys, in layman's terms, this is how it works. Two fighters are going to enter the ring. Just two. There are no tag team things. There is no interference.

Nothing like that. If you interfere for a friend, that friend is disqualified. That's it. Now, you get to keep your hit points as is. But since you're losing your armor and your weapons, obviously, things are going to be modified. Your AC and everything are going to be lower. All hits are to AC. And we're just rolling raw strength modifiers. That's it. That's how this works. Now, we're also beginning. We're also going to be gauging reflex the entire time. So every round you're rolling reflex against the other person. So you might get two or three or four hits to the wrong.

Now, the opposite, depending on who you get paired up with, could be true. Where they just might be like jackrabbits and just bam, bam, bam. They might not hit as hard as you, but they might slip in more punches. First one to bloodied, they're going to call the fight and just go, "Okay, okay, stop." There is no chance of death. The only way that could possibly happen is if someone were to break the rules and draw a weapon and people would jump on that. Does that sound good? This is a safe space for fighting. Yep. Now, obviously, the way this works is the tournament technically starts this next week, right?

Right now, this is just sort of an introductory thing. It's just to see if you can get into the tournament. So what's going to happen is each of you guys are going to have a preliminary match. If you beat your opponent, you're in the tournament and you move on to the first round. If you don't, then you just kind of go, "Okay, I'll try it next time." And we'll move on that way. Does that sound good? Yeah. Yes. Yep. Who would like to go first? Dibs! It was delayed, but all right. Dibs! Alarath. She's raring to go since he called her short. Okay. He just wanted...

Here's the thing. It's not an insult. It's more just like, "Are you sure? There's some strong people in there." Okay. Be sure there's some pistol observation. Here's what's going to happen. I would like you to roll a flat d20 to see what opponent you're going to get. The higher the roll, the weaker your opponent. The lower the roll, the more unlucky you are and the stronger your opponent. You just jinxed me. Natural one half-orc. I mean, my plan is kneecaps or ball sacks. Is that Alarath's motto? He caps your ball, Sax. Get on here. Is that what I sound like to you, Sax?

I only had to hack him up for that one, you know? All right, here we go. I believe... Oh, fuck me! I think that everything I just said is... Oh, my God. Oh, no. I love you, Lisa! Jason. Lisa. This isn't fair. Plus one for thinking speedy. You're going to have to think something speedy, because man. Shit. I hate everything, but I'm so excited at the same time. Why not? Fuck it. I should have had a beer. Not Alarath. Well. I love you. I love you, too. This is not personal. I want you to understand before we go in. Hold up. Can we give this one, like, some sort of fatal flaw?

Like... He hits too hard. That's his flaw. Like an internal hernia that he's not aware of. He's actually naturally weak against tiny adorable creatures with hair beads. Aww. I can't do it. Can't punch her. I just gave him, like, the puss in bits. Like... Aww. All right. Hold on a second. I'm setting things up. You can do it, Lisa. I believe in you. I believe in you. I'm glad you do. I believed in my dice. Aww. You're strong. You can do the thing. Well, the thing... Okay, I'm gonna tell you right now. You're gonna be quicker than him? Good. Yeah? Mr. Quads for days? Yeah. What's his glute situation?

It's pretty on point. Goddamn it. Bounce a quarter. A lot of squats. A lot of squats. Squats for days. That's not fair. Who says he's one? He could be two. Is he the one? He's... Okay, here's the thing. A dragon comes and... Plunks down a hundred bucks. This one's on me. I want her. Fuck. She tinkles a little bit. Oh, good lord. Okay, so, uh, boy howdy. Here's the situation. I would like to direct your attention to the combat tracker. Okay. Here's how this works. You're gonna be rolling a lot of dice. So, uh, bring up your character sheet and just focus on that main page.

Pah! Got it. So, Asura is going to, uh, he's gonna start things off. And he is, like, when he asks for, uh, volunteers, he is going... You're, you're... Elorat's gonna raise your fucking me. Let's go. Elorat's gonna get into the ring. And then, uh, the way they work this is completely random. Okay? So you don't get to go, "Oh, I think I could beat that person to jump in." So it's, it's, it's pretty much, um, they, they, they, they, they have, like, uh, like, a hat full of names and it's like, okay, boom. And they, they, they pick a person's name out and this big fucking half-orc is gonna step forward.

Oh, god. His name is Telic. Hey Telic. So just picture this, this sweaty, smelly, muscular dude. Hey. Big, kind of like, jutting, uh, under tusks. Bit of an underbite on the, on the guy. Not attractive. Looks, looks like he gets professionally hit in the face. Like, just, that's, that's, that's what he does. Does he have cauliflower ear? Um, he's got cauliflower head. Like, he's just... Oh my god, he's a monster. He's not, he's not fit for plexus. I just imagine Avalon is actually, "Oh my god, he's a monster!" Like, not helping. Just like... Just like as soon as he walks into the ring, "Oh my god, that's a monster!" Turn around and glare.

Not helping! This is the worst case scenario. I'm so sorry. For everybody at home, I rolled a one on my, on my, uh, D20. I don't know if you guys have. Yeah. If I wasn't a panda. Oh my god. I'm sorry. So Asura's gonna break down the rules. We're gonna avoid punching each other in the junk with no, no under the belt shots. That's not possible. Uh, no weapons, no armor, no nothing. So that is going to take Elorath's AC down to 18. So here's how we're... What's it bring Tellex down to? Wait, I'm not allowed to know that. You're not allowed to know that, but you'll, you'll know if you hit.

I'll let you know each time whether you hit or not. 12. No, no. Negative. Okay, I'll stop now. Is there anything the group would like? I imagine that they're in your corner. Is there anything you guys, any, any last, like, like knowledge or any bit of knowledge you'd like to impart to Elorath? Like, "Oh man, this guy looks like he's got a weak chin" or something like that. Anything, just anything you'd like to. Is there any sort of perception check I can roll? You've got a weak chin? Okay. I doubt it, but okay, here we go. Nope. Wall. This guy looks like a wall.

Like just kind of like... If, if this tournament didn't exist, you don't exactly know what he'd do. Like what is it? What is your job? What do you do? Like what do you just do? Do you just look rocks all day? What is it? What do you do? Yeah, he does not. Yeah, he is the rock. Without all that pesky charisma getting in the way. Does he have any like head or facial hair? Yeah, he's got like long, like kind of scraggly hair and like stubble on his face. Yeah. Look for his head hair. Ride him. That is a tactic. Aveline's going to give her a pep talk. So he's going to look at you and say, "Elerath, I know it may look like your tiny fist cannot penetrate his skin.

However, I believe in you personally." That's it. He's just staring at you. Thank you. You can do this. Yeah. All right, whatever. He's just gonna, "All right, cool." He's gonna be like, "Hey, just stay low and like move around a lot." Extremely low. Like if you could crawl. Try crawling. Stop. Sorry. No, you're good. Just inch around on your stomach a little bit like a snake. Yes. I heard serpentine movement. He's very effective. He's afraid of snakes. Just act like that. Oh my God. Flick your tongue out. Okay. Are we ready? I suppose. I'm like pulling up. I'm like, "Okay, I have second chance.

I have nipple dogs. I have this." Okay. Jesus Christ, hopefully. Hey, I believe in you. Hope you found Jesus. I don't know. All right. I feel like I'm delaying the inevitable. All right. Okay. You've got this. So here's how this is going to work. You see your reflex defense? Yes. Half of that is going to be your modifier. And every round we are going to roll to see who goes first. So here's how this works. You guys are going to square off on the ring, right? And this half orc and his pale green skin are just going to be glistening with sweat. Why is he so sweaty? It's kind of warm down here and you get the sense he's just always sweaty.

Oh. So he's got this pelt he's wearing that's just like... Okay. You ever go to the gym and there's that guy at the gym who takes the gym way too seriously? Yes. You get the sense that this guy is... Like he's wearing a loin cloth, essentially, right? And it's not holding any of the funk in. Just very, very, very sweaty and gross. And the guy's towering over you as a display of dumb. And it's just like a... And when he does that, a long trail of saliva is going to sort of jettison from just past his right tusk and just sort of like stick to his chin and chest.

Just gross. Oh my god. I wish you could see the look on my face right now. Horrified. Okay. And he's going to bend his neck in such a way that it cracks and snaps. You can hear just like... Just like that. Great. And he's going to sort of flex his pectoral muscles. And then Asura is going to call for both of you to sort of like put up your dukes. Okay. And I would like you to roll a D20 with a +10. Okay. Oh, that's a 20. Now you are going to be faster than him. That is your saving grace here. Okay. So he's going to roll. You're going to go first. So here's the thing.

Every round we do this. So because you beat him, you get to swing at him and then we roll again and again and again. You could chain this together so that you might always win. We don't know. He is just a little bit slower than you, but he is fit. So it's not like he's horrendously out of shape. So do me a favor. Roll a strength check. Okay. See the little +9? Yes. If you click on that. Okay. I got it. I was gonna say plus nothing. I got plus nothing. Plus nothing. Yeah. So this is what's going to happen. Does your hand make a squeaky noise when he hits? It just like slides off of his like abs because of the sweat.

Yeah. So Elorath is going to square off with this guy and the bell is going to ring and just like Elorath is just like lightning fast reflex is going to swing and just sort of like just fist like kind of awkwardly ricochet off the thigh. The way he's awkward. Yeah, I was going to say like the mid part of the quad. Just like ugh. That's nothing. And just kind of like scoop under the loincloth just a little bit, but not touch anything. Just like just like oh, oh, that is not what I wanted. Do me a favor. Roll another check with a +10, please. No, not the on the actual attack.

So go ahead and roll attack as you beat him. Like flat out beat him. Here we go. You are much faster than Telic. Hey. Hey. That's again, you're going to you're going to swing and you're going to collide, but it's not going to hit. It's it's you could tell it's like he's just shrugging this off like it's just not. Go ahead, roll speed again. You got to beat a 15. Yeah, holy shit. Yes, you are way faster than him. So he's taking these awkward clumsy swings and you're just like, holy shit, holy shit. And you're just you're just ducking. Do me a favor. Roll that strength mod.

Nope. Oh, that's a 12 again. That is like all five. He is quads for dings. He's just yeah, it's just squats man. That's his regiment. I was going to say actually this one lands right on like the left glute because he's turned around swinging at me. It's like that's butt cheek. Here's the thing, because that's three in a row where you have you have you have you technically hit him just like not a lot. Do me a favor. Roll a flat D4. Wow. Okay. Two. Yeah. So it's basically just the fight going on. It's like it's little like pardon the expression, but like little bee stings.

That's my name. Yeah, but it is adding up a little bit. So that's two damage. Two damage guys. Got this. Okay, roll speed again. Okay. Yeah, all right. Stay low. Keep moving. Oh, God. Sorry, guys. Uh oh. Remember to squirm. Holy shit. He rolls a one. You remembered. She like points at you. Yeah. Okay, here we go. Yes, that's gonna hit. Yeah. Okay. So here's how we do this. It's a flat D4 plus. Okay. Wow. Okay. So you also get your strength mod. So that's five. But because you rolled so high, that's another plus two. So D4 plus seven. Woohoo. Hey, don't scoff at that. So you're gonna catch this dude right in the side, like right in the soft.

I mean, generally speaking, if I were to get punched there, I'd poop myself. But like, you know that soft like side section? Like it's not belly. It's not. It's just like a little love handle action. You're gonna catch him. And he's gonna make a noise. And it's just kind of like, so that's the first time you're like, oh, you big fuck. I can hurt you. Okay. Do we favor roll speed again? Okay. Not 15. 10. There we go. Oh, oh, my God. That's a collide in midair. You are both going to hit each other. No. I feel like since I have the higher modifier. Do me a favor. Roll that strength mod.

Okay. Nope. Oh, no, no. Is that what you meant? He's gonna have plus 50. Yeah, yeah, that hits. Oh, that's gonna hit. He gets a D4 as well. Yes, he does. Well, it's barefoot. Really? Yeah. 10 damage to Elorath. Okay. He actually just like open palm slaps me. So you've both done 10 damage to each other. So right off the bat. So the crowd's like, holy shit, this is a fight. I didn't expect it to be. Because I would imagine as the name is drawn and he steps in the ring, everyone's like, oh, and there's a little bit of elation like, oh, good. I don't have to fight that guy.

Cool. Dicks. But now, like the first time you land a hit and he goes like the crowd's like, holy shit. Yes, go. Like it's the fucking everyone loves an underdog story. And if this guy doesn't advance, then there's no chance anyone else would have to fight. They'd much rather fight you. So everyone's like, holy shit. Do me a favor, roll for speed. I see what you're saying. That hurts my tiny Elorath feelings. Got to be the 20. Oh, my God. You are going to automatically hit because you are just so blinding fast. Like that is a crit. You are going to automatically hit.

And guess what? You're going to deal double damage. Yes. Really? Yep. So do me a favor. It is roll a D4 plus five and whatever you get, we're going to double it. Okay, thank you. I was like, I'm going to do that because we're not rolling. There's no system for that. Yes. Come on. There we go. D4 plus five. 14 damage. Damn. So here's how this is going to work, right? So you guys are in the middle of this stellar fist fight, right? And you're going to catch him right behind the thigh. Like right in the back of the knee. Yeah, right. And normally that would be grounds for someone to like, hey, that's illegal.

But you don't have a lot of options for what you're going to hit, right? So you're going to catch him and he's going to come down to one knee and he's going to get a negative two on his next speed check. We love you, LRF. So go for it. Evelyn is quite pleased. He just rolled a one. I don't know if that went in the box, though. It did. Well, fuck it. I'm counting it because it's you would have beat him anyway. Holy shit. Okay. Do me a favor, roll that strength mod with a plus two, because he's getting a negative because he's right down there. So this will be at a plus 11.

Yep. All right, here we go. Please. I'm like pointing at it, please. Oh, fuck. 17. That's just he's going to get an arm up just at the last second. God damn it. Can she look? Oh, okay. Never mind. I was going to say, wouldn't it be cool because she do like a running, like jumping, like leap punch down into it. Okay. Speed check. Got to be to 21. You did. Holy shit. You're doing amazing. That's way faster than him. Yes. Yeah. Until it comes to actually, like, hitting. Well, here we go. Okay, here we go. Fair hands. Did that not go? No. Okay. I didn't see it. There we go. Oh, oh, oh my God.

All right. D four plus seven. That's the damage. Nine damage. This is starting to mount up. This is starting to mount up. Okay. Is wait, is that count as like three in a row again? Yep. For another T four? Uh, let's see. That is your third. Yes, that is. Give me another D four. Good Lord. Okay. So this is bad. Like, you're catching. Maybe this guy is just like really just ballsy about it. And maybe he just walked in. It's like, you're not going to pose a threat. It's fine. And then bad things are happening. So now at this point, like, he's a little, he's like, you've kind of caught him on the jaw with this one.

Cause I would imagine like, he's still like getting up. So as he's getting up, like maybe he accidentally like uses his hand to like brace himself to stand up and you just just like catch him one time. There's going to be this little dribblet of blood, like kind of like around his tusk. And there is going to be a white hot fury in this half works eyes. Do me a favor. Speed check. Bro, you know the rules. No, fuck. Oh, oh. All right. Let's see if this hits you. Probably does. Oh, that's almost a crit. His dice roll beat my AC. That's not amazing. I just want to note that Ella wrath is pretty ripped herself.

It's true. I'm just saying we're talking about the physical prep. She can't flex her pecs though. Right. That is another 10 damage. Okay. That's okay. All right, sure. Get off. So I'd imagine I'd imagine he comes back and just like, pamp, just rocks you with it. Just like, oh shit. Like that was not expected. Do me a favor. Speed check. She's going to take that punch and just kind of like grin. Yes, that'll beat him. Go right ahead. Okay, here we go. Well, that's strength check. Beautiful bean footage. Yes. That is a crit. Oh, I'm so sorry for how loud I just got, but I got.

Fuck yeah. All right. Yes. All right. I knew you were special. D4 plus five, and we're going to double that. I'm sorry. A D4 plus five. Wait. Okay. That was on your strength check. Okay. Yeah. Shit. When you roll a crit on the actual strength check, we triple the damage. D4 plus five and whatever you roll, that's we're going to triple it. That's going to go good night. That's 27 damage. Jesus Christ. Knock out. I'm shimmying. So this half-orc is going to, so Talak is going to just rear back, blam, catch you on the chin. LRS is going to kind of grin, roll a crit, and I would just uppercut the fuck out of him.

And he is going to catch him just really off guard. And he's going to stumble backwards and sort of get tangled up in the rope. And I would say at that point, a sore is going to step in. It's like, all right. All right. And he's going to stop the fight. Elrath is going to move on to the actual tournament and be in the opening bracket. That's fucking cool. Congratulations. I mean that guy, my bitch. For damn sure. She's going to like turn around and like try to walk back all cool. But she's got like the biggest shitty grin on her face. And she's looking right at arena and she's like, yeah.

And arena's like, yes. She comes back over, like does one of those spinning high fives to both you and Avalon. And like everybody's standing around. Yeah, this crowd. And this is his, by the way. He's never had one of those. Dude, this crowd's going to lose their shit. It's like, this dude was obviously the odds on favorite. He knew it. Everyone knew it. And then in the first, he doesn't even make it to the tournament. Like opening, like the preliminaries. That's like, that's insane. That is an insane way to open this up. He's going to be just kind of like furious and confused.

Just like, I don't understand that. That math doesn't add up. Like he's checking the math in his head. Like you can see him trying to carry the one mentally. It's not working. He's like, yeah. I just, no, no. I want a celebratory twerk. I knew how to twerk because she would. Admit it right now. No, she's not. You got the apex of your celebration. It just happens. She, then she gets back over there and she calms down and she just like smiles and tucks the hair bead braid behind her ear. It's going to clap really hard on the shoulder. Like, yeah, fuck yeah. So, avalanche or arena, who's next?

Uh, arena, you want to go? Sure. I believe in you. Well, let's do it. Right. Do you have a favorite role of flat D24? Oh, okay. Oh shit. Wow. I'm going to fight Heinrich. I rolled a one. I love you. 19. That doesn't mean anything. I can roll terribly and not make it. So, I believe in you. Sora is going to draw some names for this hat again, right? Yeah. And arena is going to announce arena. I'm just going to step into the ring and just, I imagine just like, okay, just flex. And like after that, it's, you gotta be ready for anything. Right? Cause that was, that was insane.

And then, I saw where it's going to announce Gary to the ring. Gary. Gary. Gary. That old Gar-bear. Gary probably weighs about 115 pounds. Trust him. He's a scion. He's, he's got like kind of gaunt features. His face is just very elongated. Like he's, he's got a, he's got a lot of chin, a lot of chin. Kind of sunken in eyes, a little, little like, a little pale looking human. You could probably, if arena wanted to, and really wanted to squeeze, could probably close her hand around his bicep. So basically me in real life, pale eyes sunken 115 pounds. Sounds about right.

So. Oh boy. I feel so bad. Let's add arena to the combat tracker. Yeah. Arena fight me. I'm ready. I got this. Gary. Gary. Gary. Gary. That'll get Gary. Well, it's a good thing I don't have like a, a, like a really high strength. Man, you gotta suck to be like in a fantasy setting and your name is Gary. Who cares? Who cares? That's like being Joe. Joe the wanderer. Or Joe the... Josephine though. That's an abbreviation. Like she was a warhead? Sloppy Jake. Like the boring stuff. Fine. She was in a lot of shit though. Joe, the guy that made coffee. How about you have a cup of Joe?

That sounds weird in that context. Gross. Also, how busy has he been to fill up a cup? Anywho, this is... Oh man. Okay. Get ready. So Gary is going to square off for the arena. Gary stands at about five, six. Any 115 pounds? About 115 pounds. Oh no, Gary. Let me guess, his ring music starts to be like, somebody once told you. Hey now, you're an all star. Get your game on. And it's so sad. So Gary's going to do this little, like this little half bounce, like just like, yeah. Okay. Okay. I got this. I got this. I got this. And he's going to square off with arena. Kick his ass, arena.

Are you ready? Um, yeah. Tell me what my AC is. Um, your AC is 16. Great. Uh, look, you're fighting Gary. I know. Well, I don't want to be presumptuous because I don't want to be the person that talks shit and then lost to Gary. Right. No, that makes sense. But like, yeah, making all the math and stuff like that, taking all that plate armor off, you're a 16. Cool. Um, however. I'm off the chart. You, your speed's probably going to be, your speed and strength are probably going to be better than yours. Are you ready? Sure. Let's do it. Okay. Give me a speed check, please.

Oh, I was, I, what am I rolling for? Sorry. It's half of your reflex. So eight plus eight. Eight. Okay. Yeah. Jesus Christ. Somebody's going to get their ass. Okay. I heard Gary was talking shit about your mom, arena. Oh, fuck. Fucking what? Okay. So good Lord. This... You're just looking at the camera like, not again. Oh yeah. The, you're okay. Gary, Gary's going to square off, right? And the bell is going to ring and Gary's going to go, huh? And get distracted by the bell. That is a crit from arena. So here's, what's going to happen. You're going to automatically hit and you're going to do double damage.

So I want you to roll a D4 plus your two for your mod and whatever you roll, we're going to double that. Okay. Okay. That's eight damage to Gary. Yeah. So you're just gonna, you're just gonna rock Gary's chin just off the bat. Just like he's standing there. It's like what? Boom. And just fucking what? He's, he's going to take a negative two to his next speed check. Oh my God. Give me a speed check, please. You're going to beat him again. Do me a favor. Roll a strength mod. Give me that strength check. Uh, wait. It's on your character sheet. Just a regular check? Yep.

Just regular check. Sorry. No. Oh, that'll hit again. D4 plus two. That's another four damage to Gary. Give me another speed check. I feel so bad. Oh my God. So here's the thing. You just beat him three times in a row, right? Yeah. So that's a D4 on top of your D4 plus because you rolled a 19, your mod goes up by two. So give me, Jesus. Okay. Give me two D4 plus four. Okay. No, wait, that was the speed check, not the strength check. Yeah, that's the speed check. Oh, sorry. Sorry. That's the speed check. Sorry. I got lost. Give me a strength check first. Yes. Okay. Oh. Oh my God.

I said anything. Oh my God. I want to be honest. I want to give Gary his fair turn. You just want to beat on Gary some more. That's what you want to do. Oh man. Well, that was three in a row that I beat him on. I know, but it would boost the damage that you didn't. It's like when a Sion charges. So that sucks. Didn't I get to roll a flat D4 even though I didn't hit the first three? Well, you did get to roll a flat D4. I'm just saying because you're not going to get the regular damage. That's all. Okay. Yeah. So do me a favor. Roll a flat D4 because you are whittling away.

Wow. So you did still okay. Even when you miss your strength, like you did four against Gary, right? So that is 16 total damage to Gary. Hey, Gary. Give me another speed check. Oh, that's a 13. You got to beat a 13. And you did? See? So you're gonna punch Gary clean in the chest. And for whatever reason, Gary's been working his one pack. Just one. Just that left pack. And you're like, oh, wow, that is not as good on you, Gary. Way to go, Gary. All right. I'm not gonna get left here. I don't know what exercise you've been doing to that one. Pack. That's just that's pretty good.

That's weird. One thing more impressed. M. Night Shyamalan character or something. Do me a favor. Roll a speed check again. You can. Oh, oh, shit. Oh, my God. He's sick of it. All right, Gary, bring it. That is a crit from Gary. Gary. Gary has no strength modifier. So so whatever he gets for his D four, we're just gonna. All right. That's eight damage to. Holy shit, though. That's how you shot a sling. It's the chance. I imagine this is panic. Like he's just like, oh, fuck. I just like he's gonna throw a fist. Give me another speed check. Oh, wow. Oh, that's a tie. So you both get to one and you still talk.

You're the worst. Okay. It's like Gary actually hits me. I'm like, what the fuck? All right. Okay. Do me a favor. Roll a strength check. This isn't fair to Gary. Okay. See, see. Oh, my God. Gary. He hit. Oh, my God. See, this is why I wasn't talking so much shit. Okay. Wow. Okay. So he's gonna he's gonna roll one. One damage to. Speed check. He just hits you like right in the meaty part of your bicep. You're like, motherfucker. Oh, okay. Yeah, because he hit you in the bicep, you reflexively punch. Like he just it's like just. Flaunt him again. Okay. Give me a strength check.

You're definitely faster than Gary. That'll hit Gary. Poor, dear bear. Poor, dear bear. Holy Lord. Five more damage to Gary. Gary is rocking a bit back and forth. Like he's just like, oh, wow. You could tell, like, there's blood. His eye is swollen. Like there's blood like dribbling down his chin and stuff. And you can't be sure, but you think he's now missing a tooth in the melee. Like one of the front ones. Like every once in a while, he'll kind of like grit his teeth. Like, just stop. And he's like, hey, there's a gap there. I don't think that was there before.

Oh, no. Give me a speed check. Oh, you gotta be a 17. Oh, so close. Just hear a quiet chant. Build up. Does a 15 beat your AC? It does not. So he's gonna lay in and punch you right in the chest. Just like, just nothing, though. Just like, it's like, wow. All right, man, you do pushups or something. I puff out a little bit. I'm like, what? What? Not that I'm doing Timothy. Give me a speed check. Oh, you gotta beat an eight. And you did. That'll hit Gary. Oh, Gary. Oh, Gary. I love you, Gary. Oh, that's another four damage to Gary. Gary's left eye now is so swollen, he can't see out of it.

Marina is not punching his eye. He's in a cut me mix situation. Like, this is not great. Give me another speed check. He's still going for it. He is. Oh, Gary. Wow, Gary's not going down. 20 to your 19. All right. I see you, Gary. You got some of that thing. Boxxy. 18 will beat arenas AC. Holy shit. And one damage total of 10 damage. Delta arena. He is chopping this Oak down. He's doing it. Half work through that in one punch. Holy shit. Oh my God. Gary, what the fuck? Gary is fed up, man. I love. Oh my God. Gary. That is a crit on a strength check. That means whatever he rolls is tripled.

Damn, Gary. Oh my God. Nine damage and you're going to get a negative two to your next speed check. Oh my God. Gary. So the crowd's just going nuts because they're like, oh, this isn't fair. This isn't. And back and forth, back and forth. And arena is just solidly faster than Gary. For whatever reason, maybe Gary's digging deep. Maybe he's just feeling maybe it's instinctive and he's just swinging because he can't fucking see it on the left side. And he is going to catch arena right in the side of the head. Just pow. And arenas eye is going to start to swell.

I do me a favor. Give me speed check. Fucking. Rude. He's looking at Sora. Oh, he's going to crit one though. But that's what he beat me at. So that is true. Here's what's going to happen. Gary is going to crit miss and he's going to swing and just sort of like swing wide. So his fist is going to miss you, but his shoulders going to bump your chin. All right. And he's just going to be completely exposed for the next one. So he's going to get a negative two to speed. But you are going to take one D4 damage just because he did beat you three in a row and four. Damn, that bony ass shoulder.

He's got some Ichabod Crane shoulder blade going. You bit your tongue a little bit, you know. He has done 23 damage to you. You have done 25 damage to him. Damn. But he's definitely looking worse than you. You're walking out with a swollen black eye, probably, that you shouldn't have. He got a lucky punch off. He might need reconstructive surgery at the end of the season. I don't know. So here's the thing. He is just big snot bubble coming out of his mouth. Just like, oh, come on. He's just like digging deep. Do me a favor. Roll a speed check. He's taking a penalty.

Yeah. Oh, yeah. He's still going. Oh, that's a crit one. That's a good night. Oh, Gary. Oh, honey. That's a crit one. You're getting a plus to your strength check. So take a plus two to your regular strength check. Wow. And then you crit miss. Wow. You guys okay in there? Call it a draw. Blaming that swollen eye. No good old Garibears too much to handle. The laces weren't out. Is that a case Ventura reference? Yes, it was. Wow. Okay. Coming out of the field. Did not expect it. Do me a favor. Roll a speech check. So you want me to do a negative too? Yeah. Okay. Just want to be fair.

Oh, my God. Gary. Oh, my God. Jesus. This is the worst. What is happening? I figured that Rocky music. Just at the end of the flight. Except he's got a long ways to go. He does. That's right. You have HP for days. He got. Yeah, he's gonna hit you. All right. Two more damage. You have done 25 damage to each other. Give me a speed check. Okay. Oh, okay. That's more like it. Yeah. Oh, Jesus. Gary's run might end here. Okay. Here. Are you gonna get you have plus two to that? So a D four plus four. Oh, plus four. Sorry. I only did plus two. That's fine. That is seven damage to Gary.

Gary is going to stumble back. And he's going to kind of lose his footing and then just sort of, like, fall on his ass. Like, literally just, like, pulp and just, like, sit there for a second and try to, like, get his bearings. And it's always going to step in. It's like, all right. It's all right. And just, like, kind of get in between. Arena is going to move forward and into the tournament. Can I take you to Gary? Sure. And so I'm like, you fought really well. And then, like, kind of give him a handshake. And when I do, I just want to do a lay on hands on him because I feel so bad.

That's so cute. Yeah, he will take that. He's still gonna have a swollen eye. But yeah, that is, like, yeah, no internal bleeding now. Um, so that's cool. It's like, good job, bro. Yeah, he'll shake hands and stuff. Again, still kind of dazed. Look, there's three of you. And you're, but you're all congratulating him. So that's cool. Shaking the wrong hand. Can Gary become our Theo? Yeah, you can find him after this. Oh, boy. I love it so much. Congratulations, Arena. Yeah, nice job. High five, Elora. Yeah. Avalon. Oh, boy. Do me a favor, roll a flat D20. Here we go. Eight.

Middle of the road. I'm gonna get a good opponent then. Yeah, yeah, actually, actually need one. Again. Yeah, solidly middle of the road. Hold on a second. I like that spelling so much. I do too. Oh, yeah, it's totally so happy. I fit your oom-lots and shit in there too. Anyway, so avalanche going to get into the ring. They're going to announce them and everything, and then they're going to draw a name from a hat. And this dwarven lady is going to get into the ring and immediately just sort of like work up some mucus and spit it onto the opposite side here.

Just like, fuck you. She does not look like a lady who takes this lightly. Hello. And just like from across rings. Hello. And she'll kind of give like a bro nod. Apparently, I have to try to kill you until they tell me to stop. Oh, boy. Okay, just look over to LRF. Oh, God. Are we ready? So the reflex is halved, and that's the modifier. That's the modifier. And the other one is the strength check or the strength mod. Because there's a check. Okay. Yep. You're just going to click on the strength check thing. So are you ready? Yes, sir. All right. Do me a favor. Speed check.

So the bell is going to ring, and both of you are just going to like spring into action here. And you're going to beat her to the punch, so to speak. Do me a favor. Strength mod. There's strength check. Yeah. Oh, okay. You are going to hit this woman in the jaw, and she is going to shrug it off immediately. Oh, sir. Got a hell of a chin on her. And Gertrude is going to try to swing back. Go ahead. Speed check. Oh, that's not good for her. Oh, good Lord. Oh, man, you beat her to the punch twice in a row. Do me a favor. Strength check. That's going to hit Gertrude.

And that Holy Lord, your strength is through the roof. This tournament heavily favors me. Oh, my God. Okay. Do me a favor. Roll a D4 plus six. Damn, he's a little bit stronger than me. What the fuck? Yes, he is. Nine damage to Gertrude. So Evelyn hits her. He says nothing. There's no emotion. Like, yes, I hit. He's just hitting. God, this could go very ugly if no one stopped the fight. Just like, yes. Poop. Do me a favor. Speed check. Oh, nice try. Damn. 24 to your 25. Do me a favor. Strength check. Oh, that'll hit her. That's another lump. That's another hit. Oh, man, this could go bad.

Oh, you add a D4 to that, too, because you beat her three times in a row. 2D4 plus six. One, two. Well, that's 11 more damage. That's lumpy. You're lumping her up. So you're going to catch her right in the nose, and you're going to hear a... When Evelyn hears that, he's going to reel back. Like he's surprised, and he'll say, already? Oh, my God. Oh, Jesus. Evelyn's a killer. God. Okay, give me a speed check. Oh, we got me. Oh, 22. You're 19. All right. This should be interesting. 14. Now, let's see. Your AC would be... There's no way it's 20, right? No, no. We were taking armor off.

Sorry. I meant to do that beforehand. Evelyn. So taking your armor off would give you a 15. That is just... It's just going to go for stomach, and I guess you do a lot of sit ups, and it's just going to end nothing. Dead pants there. Speed check. 15. Damn it. She'll probably beat that. 14. Do you have your strength check? You're going to get in now, lady. Oh, Jesus. Yeah, Evelyn. Oh, man. Give me D4 plus eight. D4 plus eight? Yep, because you rolled so high on your strength check. Oh, shit. You sound genuinely distraught. It's kind of a killer. Oh, good Lord. Okay. Speed check.

You are... Okay. At this point, it's bad. Like, she's trying to fight back, but like, Evelyn apparently has the frosty coolness of a psychopath. Like... Oh, yeah, she does. It's unsettling. He was told to do something. He'll do it. Oh, wow. So he's like an ill-programmed robot. Like, he works too well. Yeah, this is uncomfortable, because this is bad. No one's programmed in the three rules of robotics. Oh, God, that's gonna hit. Oh, boy. Okay, D4 plus six. As he's a puncher, he's gonna say, "Well, this is weird. The wolves would have run away by now." Oh, my God, that's another 10 damage.

Oh, my gosh. Okay, you're gonna come down and just punch her on top of the head, basically. And she's gonna instantly collapse to both knees, and Asura's gonna step in and go, "Okay, stop, stop, stop." Before she goes down, like, as she's falling, can I hit her one more time? What? As she's falling. Before he gets in the ring. Because, like, not like hit her, just like go into motion. You know, like, he doesn't know to stop yet until he enters the ring. Right. Okay, I'll tell you what. Do me a favor, roll an athletics check, because I want to see, like, how quickly you'd kind of like reel back.

Oh, Jesus Christ. Oh, wait, wait, that's a modifier plus 10. Hold on. Oh, okay. I was gonna say, how? I'm not a Greek god just yet. Plus 24. Yeah, I was like, what? That's still high as fuck. I would say, okay, Asura is almost tripping over there, because he's a larger dude. So Asura's like trying to get in the ring. Stop, stop, because he, like, there is something disturbing about Avalon, not just in conversation, but an execution of combat, because there is no joy or seeming like any emotional interest in the fight itself. It's just keep hitting. Bam, bam, bam.

There is not a single time where she has landed a shot, so it's just like hit, hit, hit, and it's not like fuck you, yeah, or aggressive, or even happy, nothing. It's just cold, dead stillness on his face. That is fucking creepy. So Asura's just gonna trip over himself, and as you're reeling back to swing again, just like try and grab your hands. Just like stop, stop, stop. You win, you win, you win. Just stop. As soon as he touches me, I definitely just stop. So I'm sorry. I lost myself there. Oh, is she okay? Probably not. She, like, okay, that's a lot of damage.

Like, she'll be okay, but it's definitely, like, definitely some swelling in the cheek and eye area, broken nose probably. I assume this isn't like a thing where, like, everyone's cheering. They're just kind of like a gape, just like, the guy. I would say, okay, at first, yeah, but that was a one-sided fight, and then on top of that, it's like, okay, you're weird. Like, there's something off about you. Like, there's, but Avalon will move on and be entered into this tournament. Congratulations to the three of you, because it's one of those weird. Good job, guys.

We did it. You might have to end up fighting each other at some point, you know? Yeah, probably. I'm just excited. I'm just gonna say sorry in advance. Yeah, I'm sorry for you too. Yeah. Hey, you're a scrappy fighter. I'm kind of scary. I know. I actually, I think we would be, let's see, you would be a little bit stronger, but I think I would be a little bit quicker. Yeah, yeah, you could take me. So, how? That was so impressive, though, that half-orc. You just took him down. I thought that was gonna go way differently. I was afraid for you. I'm not gonna lie. I was afraid for me too.

But I was like, you know what, I brought this on myself when you told us he walked in. I was just like, bring it. And I was like, unless it's not random. I called my shot. That was the worst case scenario. I'm so sorry. I love it, because I'm just imagining Elorath, who is, oh my god, how, she's not, she's three foot eight. She's not even four foot tall. And this orc is six, seven. She's like double her height. So here's what we're gonna do. That's why it's so impressive. She kneecapped him. No, here's what we're gonna do. At the end of this evening, because everyone's gonna filter through and get their fights in and stuff like that, and there's, I mean, it looks like there's some challenging people in there.

There's a couple of wiry people who are just really fast and they just keep beating these big bulky dudes to the punch every single time. And there's the opposite, where someone will be a little quicker, but maybe they overextend or put themselves out there and just get laid out. But at the end of this evening, after all the, you know, there's a couple of disqualifications and a couple of, you know, a couple of people who just don't advance or a fight ends in a draw or something like that. At the end of this evening, 12 people are moving on and we are going to actually make a bracket and randomize it.

And we are going to see what everyone's odds are. And I will get started on that on this side and then post it in the group four page. And then after this episode goes up, I'll post it on the Facebook page and ask people what their opinions are and what everyone's getting odds on here. It's DNR madness. I like this much better than basketball. Right? I'm so happy. It's quite amazing. So like, what was everyone's reaction when Avalon just walked back to the corner like, I did it. So he definitely went up to you. Anthony is like, I did it, Anthony. I won. Are you guys like freaked out or?

Oh, I just assumed you were talking straight to Effany. I'm sorry. I was up to all of you, but I was like, I I specifically because she because she was like spectating or whatever. So I would have definitely been cheering Avalon on, but probably her eyes would have gone really wide and a bit shocked. You're going into her again when she was down, but she did like pulled herself together and then like slapped you on the back and told you well done. And it's quite happy. Dang job well done. Fist bump. Definitely fist bump. Yes. Well, it looks like we all made it, but I don't know if I could fight any of you.

I might just use gets quiet. You know, you're not like supposed to kill them, right? Oh, yes, yes, you're supposed to pretend like you're going to kill them until someone tries to stop you, right? That's what I tried to do. You did. He's like nodding his head and fat. If we like those, them, them, them's the rules, right? Yeah. You know what? You won. I did win. You did good. You won as well. Yeah. Your fight was amazing. I see you did the serpentine. Yeah, I did that. All right. Man, I'm tired now. A couple of things to note at the end of this evening, it's announced what the pot is going to be.

The winner of this tournament is going to receive 5000 gold. Is that a lot? It's quite a lot. Not just that, but there's a title you get that's essentially only good in this in this circle. And they're not talking so much about that yet. But essentially what that title grants you is, first of all, you'd be the defending champion, right? So there'd be another tournament like this. And at the end of the tournament, they'd have to fight you if you're the winner. That also grants you a huge amount of respect within the city. I mean, you know, within the circle of people who get to fight.

And there's a lot of people who know about the fights, but, you know, they don't actually participate. It's more like they'll take bets. There's a lot of underground gambling associated with this, but it's a pretty big deal. Cool. So even after we got to the brackets, whatever, there's going to be someone at the end who's a different this one. They know something. They're just getting off the ground. Yeah, I see. Yeah, they've been talking about this for a while. So it's something they're trying to be like, quiet. Maybe one day it'll be legalized in the city or something like that.

But for right now, just like keep it under your hat. How's about we take a couple of days and let you guys lick your wounds a bit and kind of heal up? And then I'll let the Shiner heal like normal. Yeah. Okay. Oh, okay. Kind of a badge of honor type thing. Yeah. All right. So it is now the 17th of Thorim. You remember speaking to Brennan? Yes. Yes. Well, he is going to send a letter over to the fancy gentleman, and it's essentially asking you to meet them at Winterhaven Hall to speak with Counselor Combs. Apparently, they've had a chance to look over the letter, and they wanted to talk to you a little more about this whole Overwatch situation, because now you're actually visiting the city.

It's more than just letters and stuff like that. So yeah, whenever you guys have time, swing over to Winterhaven Hall. Cool. Now, a quick refresher. Which ones were the nice ones and which ones were angry? And then one of them was on the fence or something? Well, that's subjective. Combs was the one who ended up speaking to Malkus, and Freeman was the one who isn't a huge fan of Malkus. And then the third one is like in the middle? Yes. Okay. So, I mean, like, we've been there for a few days, so I guess you would just go over? Go hang out. Go check it out. Yeah?

Yeah, totally. Okay. So I would imagine you getting there, they're gonna probably check you at the door and then Brennan would hear that you're there and then just kind of usher you in and show you to the sitting room. And after a few minutes, Counselor Combs is going to join you guys and have a seat. Yes, she would just kind of cut right to the chase. So you're from the Overwatch? Yep. Yes, yes, we are. I'm told that you wanted to start some sort of fence mending operation, something diplomatic, I'm being told. Yes, we were hoping to see if there was maybe something that you guys might need that we could do you, because we don't want to be, like, angry.

We don't want you to be angry with us anymore as a city. Do me a favor, roll a diplomacy check. I want to see something. Yeah, sure. I'm so diplomatic. Yeah, you want to help? Fuck you. Wow. Letter talk! Who letter talks? That's a five. All right, you know what, guys? Elrath and I can handle this. We got this. So, okay, I would say Counselor Combs is probably sitting down, expecting, "Oh, there's some diplomats from Overwatch." So she's expecting, it's like, "Okay, some stuffed shirt, like, someone's gonna come talk to us and we're gonna have tea and talk." That was like Elrath dropped trow and pooped on the coffee table.

Oh, no. So it's just kind of like, eyes wide, just, "Oh, um..." And just taking a second to regain composure. Well, I understand that there's new leadership in the south, and I do not envy your queen's position. However, you understand that there's not exactly a lot of love lost here with the people in the city and the Overwatch as not just a city, but a concept. How would you propose that we even move forward? She's gonna look at Erina. There are a lot of changes happening in the Overwatch. Queen Liara only totals for a few that, well, they're trying to change the attitude of the city to be more accepting.

We know that they've been very closed minded in the past. So one of the reasons we're here is to open up communications, find out what you need and how we can help you with that. Yes, is exactly as she said. We just want to help you. Okay, could be worse. He's learning. He's learning. I'm so proud. Well, that was just a good bet. That's all. Do me a favor. Roll a diplomacy check. Does Aveline want to assist? Yes. Okay. Are you trained in diplomacy? If I was training, it would be higher than three. Yes. Your boy is not trained in it. Do me a favor. Roll a flat D20. Thank God.

Holy shit. Erina, give me diplomacy check plus two. Yay. Okay. I'm glad I needed that. Nice. Well, for what it's worth, you seem like pretty straightforward people. I do believe that things in the south could change eventually, and I would like to get them all rolling. I'm just not exactly sure what we could do that would be mutually beneficial. I'm sure the other council members might object to such an endeavor so soon after the war, of course. I understand that there may be some friction with our help towards Durn Hollow. And so Queen Liara sent us with the letter that you received the other day, but she also sent us with a package for you, well, for the city to use as help for repairs or anything that you guys need.

Then, like, pass over money. Okay. Here, take this bribe. I'm kind of eyes wide at that. That is a substantial amount of gold. I would appreciate very much if you would send word back to your queen that we are greatly appreciative and we will absolutely put this money toward repairs. We would love to send word back. I'm sure she would also love to hear from you guys, the council, too. Can I ask you a question? Yes, go ahead. Please don't take this the wrong way, but a majority of you don't look like you originally came from the Overwatch. Am I right to assume that you have just recently moved there or maybe had family there?

I have been a Paladin of Kord for a long time, but recently I've met up with these lovely people and helped them out a lot, and I admire the good that they're trying to do in the world, and so I wanted to help them. Yeah, we were me and Sora here. She's going to point at Sora. We are white ravens, and so we just wanted to help and see what we could do. At what Elorath said, Sora would just nod. I would like Arena to roll a diplomacy check. Now, if the rest of the group would like to assist, they are more than welcome to. I'd like to try. Give me a flat d20 roll.

Yeah, I'm not trained in diplomacy at all. I don't think anybody's trained besides Arena. Oh hey, that counts! That does, that's a plus two. Actually, I'm not trained in diplomacy. I just have really high charisma. Ah, Aveline, do you want to assist? Oh yeah, definitely. Give me a flat d20. Okay, that's okay. That's a negative one. Aphony, would you like to assist? Uh, I don't trust my flat d20 roll, so no. Okay, Sora, would you like to assist? Oh my gosh, no. Okay. I'm good, thanks. Okay, Arena, give me a diplomacy check with a plus one. Okay. Ooh. That's not bad.

Actually, it's not. No, not at all. I just saw the nine and I was like, ooh. Yeah, I'm just kidding. She's going to lean in a bit. Is there a time limit for you staying in the city? Do you need to be going soon or were you planning on sticking around? I don't believe we had any plans on leaving anytime soon. Queen Lyara didn't, when we decided what we wanted to do, because we chose to be diplomats between the cities, she did not say that we had to come back in any timely fashion. I'd like to ask you all a question and I would very much like it if you were honest with me.

I'm always honest. It's true, he's always honest. If you were given the power to make a call for your city or people you cared about, and some might view what you've done or choose to do as distasteful, but you knew in your heart that it was the right thing to do and it would benefit a great many people. How would you feel about making a decision like that? Avalon is going to look at her and say, "Well, almost everything I do is distasteful to someone. So personally, I can't worry about what everyone thinks." And I sleep better at night knowing I did the right thing, rather than what other people think.

Do you feel the same? You're asking her, yes. Well, I confer with colleagues before making any grand sweeping changes and to be honest, our hands are a bit tied in that area. But every decision I've made has been with the benefit of the city in mind and its people. If that's the case, then what are you worried about? It's not me personally. What about the rest of you? If we knew it was the right thing to do, yeah. I think I would do it. And she would look at Avalanche just like what he said. If I knew it was for the best and it might be hard, but I mean, I fought hard before.

So I think I would do it. Sora, Irina, Efni? If it benefited the people that I care about, and I knew it was the right thing to do, then I guess I would do it. It doesn't sound a decision that I would want to make though, especially not alone. If your reputation is what you would be worried about when choosing between what is right and what is good for you in the long run, then what are you doing it for? If your goal is to help people and help the town, then if what you believe you're doing is right, then that's what you should do. And she's going to nod along.

I've had a lot of decisions made for me in my past. And now that I am finally taking control of my life, I have no doubt that if I knew it to be the best thing for the most amount of people, I would do it. Here's what I'd like. I'd like everybody in the party except Irina to roll a flat d20 for me. Oh, wow. Irina, give me a diplomacy check with a plus two, please. She's going to be nodding along as you guys are speaking. And at the end of it, she is going to kind of pinball between everybody in the group and kind of meet each one of you in the eyes. We're going to be making some adjustments in the city here soon ourselves.

And I think you could be more help than you realize. Would you follow me for a moment? And she's going to stand up. Of course. Hell yeah. All right. But the last time I followed someone, I woke up naked in a forest. What? It's a long story. She is going to she's going to lead the party down the hall and there is a door to the left. And there are two guards standing outside of it. And she's going to she's going to give them a wave. And then this set of double doors is going to open. Everyone do me a favor. Roll a perception check. OK, OK. I hate it. Oh, wow. What?

It's not bad. Everyone walking into this room is going to see what appears to be a young man laying in bed. Oh, gosh. At least you're guessing it's a young man. Half of his body is covered in horrific burns. His face crossing over into past his nose on the right side, all the way down his neck and chest. He's missing a hand. He is like all the way down his body. It appears as though he is having great difficulty in just breathing. His eyes are closed and there appear to be a small team of people keeping an eye on this young man. And counselor Combs is going to turn to the party.

If you're still interested in helping, there's a great amount of work to do, and I'm afraid we don't have much time. I think that's a pretty good time for you. How dare you? I like that. That's crazy. It went full circle, man, because we were at that building, right? And we weren't allowed access to that part. That's crazy. I didn't think we'd be able to see him. Oh, this is my favorite episode we've done. It's pretty awesome. So do they like, hmm, like, okay, so I know like, healing magic is like, you know, like, there's some things that can't be healed and blah, blah, blah, blah.

Like, do they not have any healers? It's not that they don't have any healers. Okay. Some extent, you should be dead. Yeah, okay. You should be dead. If not for, yeah. And there's only so much, so okay. Essentially, you can kind of wind back the clock and even broken bones and stuff like that. You might walk with a limp for the rest of your life. You might, just things. But do that straight up dragon fire. Yeah. From Strahd. He should be dead. Like, flat out. Okay. Right up dead. And there are some more complications, but we'll get into that. Okay. Because I wasn't sure, like, I know that, like, we've kind of gone over healing stuff in the past, like how, you know, like, oh, you'll have like a limb, blah, blah, blah, blah, but I wasn't sure, like, the extent that healing magic worked.

Yep. And it all depends on how grievous the wound is and how, uh, where it's coming from and all that. So it's a big deal. I'm going to be hitting you guys up with the, uh, the tournament bracket and a lot of feedback, because guys, the next session is 200. Holy shit. Wow. Oh my God. We did it. We got there. We got there. Congratulations. Congratulations. Like, do you know what episode this is going to be? This, this, um. Uh, it all depends. It's probably the high 90s, like 196, 197. Awesome. Awesome. Maybe a little higher. Oh my gosh. I think the last group three was 195, I believe. 192.

Was it 192? I'm sorry. I can't mask. No, that's totally fine. Uh, there's a bunch of stuff in the can. And again, in the month of January, we're recording like 10 sessions. Right. Because again, 200 is, um, is, is big stuff and it requires multiple sit-downs just to get to one episode. So episode 200 is going to be big. Like we knew it was going to be big and we're, it's, it's a scheduling, it's, it's a big scheduling cluster. So we're trying to get it all. Bree's like killing herself, getting it ready. Well, I'm free on the weekends now. That makes it any easier.

Uh, you guys, that's the, that's pretty much the last session we need to schedule. It looks like is, um, is, uh, I don't want to say cause we're still recording technically, but you know. Yeah. Uh, guys, get ready, get yourself pumped, get prepared. Cause the next sessions, big stakes, big stakes. Can't sleep now. Congratulations guys. Oh my God. Thank you. We did it. Awesome guys. It was every time we sit down around my birthday, we have the best episode ever. So I'm excited. What was the last one? Cause last one was where we fought Rob and it was on my birthday.

And I know I was annoying, but I was like, this is the best birthday present ever. I remember that. Yeah. But every time we sit down around to my birthday, I'm just like, ah, this is the greatest. Well, I'm really glad you guys had a good time and I, I will see you guys next time. Have a great, have a great night. Thank you so much for sitting down. Thank you, man. And, um, get yourselves ready. Cause I'll be hitting you up. Yeah. All right. Okay. Have a good night guys. Bye. Hi everybody out there. I really hope you enjoyed today's episode.
