And don't forget to give us a five star rating on iTunes. - Let's do that thing where we go around the table and introduce ourselves. I'm Jason, I'm the Dungeon Master. Going around the table, start with James. - Hey, it's James, I play Dagon, the probably last Aladdin in Theria. - We'll find out. Brian. - Hey guys, I play Rikis, the Mole Rune Priest. - James' son. (laughing) - Of course he's quiet now. (laughing) - I went to see if he'd do it on cue, I was like, "Ah, nevermind." Danielle.
- Hi, I'm Danielle, I play Trixie, the Drow Rogue. - Alana. - Hi, it's Alana, I play the only elf you need to know, Braneth, and I'm a cleric. - Wow. - I'm so fucking full of myself. - I'm an elf too, just point that out. - She's now unable to leave whatever room she is or her head keeps smacking the door frame. - Whatever, making it easier for the unicorns to stab me, so it's fine. I'm sorry, should we do that again? - No, no, no, it's fine. Jamie. - Hello, I'm Jamie Richardson, I play Kori Forestkeeper, a Goliath Seeker. - Awesome. - Okay, so, last time, you guys dealt with some, you were traveling through the moors, and you wanted to grab some fey root out of a nearby field, and you ended up fighting some unicorns as a result.
Which, it could have gone better. It was not one of your best fights, in terms of luck. So, you are on your way to the town of Lockford. You logistically would probably wanna stop for a rest there at the very least, if you're just passing through, that's up to you guys. Lockford, let me describe the scene as you're walking up to, there are no gates in Lockford, there's about a waist high wall that encompasses this little town. And it's on the edge of the forest called the Silver Glade. And you guys would be arriving just about as the sun's setting. So this is, there's no moon out tonight, it's pitch black.
And there is a thick, heavy fog that is rolled into the area. So you can barely see a few feet in front of you. - Is there a point to rolling perception? - You can, but it'll be mostly for sounds. So you can totally do that if you like. - All right, who wants to go dig on, I think, oh, Corey? I think she's our perception star. - I think it's perception in nature. - Plus 15. - Yeah. - 25. - Boom. - Sight, sight wise, you're not seeing much. Again, it's very thick fog. In the distance, you can hear what almost sounds like a howl, which is probably some local wildlife and coming from the forest.
Coming from the opposite, well, the direction you're traveling in. So the opposite direction in you, there appear to be the flickering of torch lights. There seems to be a few of them and they're heading right for you. You can start to hear the clattering of armor and swords and such. - Oh my. - So I don't know if there's anything you'd like to do preemptively or just kind of wait till they get closer to you and see what's going on. - We don't know if they're friendly or foe, so we should probably. - Yeah, I've got my hand on my weapon. - Yeah, I think this is gonna put his hand on his hammer.
- So you're just kind of like visibly, it's like, - Yeah, like what you doing? - I've got a question. - Go ahead. - I have the map of Unseen Lands. Would that help us out in this situation where we could actually see what the town layout looks like? - Let's see here, the town of Unseen, I believe that shows you everything. Well, it doesn't show you the layup of the town. It's more of an overworld map. So kind of like our map of Theria, it would kind of show you where the roads are, where the rivers are, where the towns would be located, but not the layout of the town itself.
Like it's not that detailed. - No advantage right now for that? - No, but it is a great way to help find your way around, especially if you're dropped in a place where you have no idea where you are, or I think it charts up to like a mile or five miles, I forget, but it's your immediate surroundings essentially. - Okay, perfect. So are we staying on the road? Are we ducking off? Are we? - I think we should kind of duck off to the side is we don't want to start anything prematurely and I can hide in the dark very well, so. - Yeah, we can sort of get an idea maybe of what's happening before we.
- Plus we were just in battle, not too long ago. We really need to take it easy just for a little bit. - Yeah, I'm almost dead. - I think it would probably be best if we just kind of eased our way and kept walking into town and tried to like keep our nose the other way and not really look like we're up to anything. - Okay, so you're taking cover? - So you're hiding? - Yes. - Yeah. - All right. (laughing) - He really wants us to hide too. - He wants to play. - Everyone go ahead and make a stealth check for me please. - Yeah. - Hey, we got a 34. - I got a 12. (laughing) - God damn it, Rikas.
- I was about to say, you all really want to be hidden. - Once it's over, I like start doing a fart noise with my armpit. - I suddenly remember the first episode, pizza man rocks, don't do it. - Wow, I was pretty much the worst person ever, awesome. - Okay, well, let's see here. - We drag him off into the forest, kicking and screaming. - So the rest of you are hiding behind, you're kind of hiding behind the very light brush that's around, but because of the fog, you're pretty heavily obscured actually. So even though there are light bushes and brush and like a tree here or there, you all managed to take cover and are unseen by these passing, these passing what looked to be guards, except for Rikas, who is partially hiding behind a tree, but his ass is kind of sticking out.
(laughing) - Like he's kind of bent down hovering like a cat that closes its eyes really tightly and thinks he's invisible. - They caught a glimpse of your hammer Rikas. - No, not doing it again. - So you can kind of hear the patrol halt and then kind of like start to motion towards you guys, like they're wandering off the road and starting to walk towards you. Hi, what are you doing? - Just kind of calling out to Rikas. - Oh, we could probably ask you guys the same question. We're just kind of moseying into town and we kind of got a little startled by all the weapons and everything else you guys got here.
- And he's gonna like look around to see if there's anyone else with Rikas. - Did you say we? (laughing) - This is under the bus, come on. - So he's gonna- - You're all alone. - Line, line. - Yeah, he's gonna start to look around and kind of start, it's like, okay, there you are. Like he's looking behind the bush there and like now that he knows there's a we, he knows that they see Rikas. - Thanks a lot Rikas. - Me too everybody. - Group two. - Don't get me wrong. - Yet. - But these people could be stupid. - Guy's gonna hold his hand out. Raymond Cross, town guard, Lockford.
- I'll shake his hand. - You know, it's dangerous to be on the road here at night. - Yeah, we didn't exactly tend to be out here this long. We kind of ran into some not so kind unicorns in the back here and we're just trying to look for a place to rest for the night, kind of regroup and kind of recuperate with ourselves. - I don't understand why were you fighting with the unicorns? - They started it? (laughing) - They don't like elves. - We don't exactly know why. We kind of understand that they don't exactly find elves very fond of, but, or they're not very fond of elves, but yeah, we were just trying to make our way over to Lockford where we're just a group of adventurers kind of going around exploring the world.
- He just kind of like, like he's listening to you just like, okay, I still don't know why you're fighting unicorns, but okay. Well, we were just making the last pass tonight. We could give you an escort if you like. - Probably be appreciative of that. - You could tell the rest of your party they could stop hiding behind bushes now. - All right, Trixie stands up and brushes herself off like nothing happened. - I'll step forward and just ask him maybe what they're doing and if there is some sort of threat in the area we should be aware of. - When it comes to Lockford nighttime, we've had a very bad run of luck.
It would just be best if you rested in town for the evening and then made your way out in the morning. Can I ask how you all got this far? I can't imagine you're fighters. You hid from torch lights behind bushes. - Hey, some of us were not successful in hiding behind bushes when we saw torch lights. - So you're not good at fighting or hiding. - Corey is gonna step out too 'cause she's only in the bushes. - How did we hide Corey and not? - She has a plus six too, that's the best part. - All right, so I'll step forward and I'm gonna look at him and say, look, we just been in a fight with some unicorns.
We didn't know who or what you were. We just didn't wanna have to fight again, so we hid. - That's understandable. The entire time he's looking up at Corey, who is wandering out of the fog. (laughing) - Corey is still gonna get eight foot hole into the ground so she could actually go into. - He's gonna give him a little head nod like, what's up? (laughing) - The guy, like his eyes go wide and he starts to reach for his weapon and then like you give him the head nod, it's like, okay. 'Cause no one's seen anything like you on the mainland for the most part, like you're kind of, like it's not unheard of for Goliath to be walking around, but it's rare and the fact that this guy is warning you of an eminent threat and an eight foot tall, like again, we've described what Corey looks like.
She kind of looks like Doomsday from the comics. Like it, I mean, that's. - I'm a monster. - Kind of some scary shit to be wandering out of the night. In the fog. - Ricus would kind of step forward when he kind of sees the weapon being, at least them like kind of grimacing and just step forward and go, look, we don't want any trouble. We're not here to pick a fight. We're not thugs or anything like that. We're just trying to get some rest. A few of our party members are really badly hurt. We're trying to get them healed, healthy again. So at this point, I think it would probably be best if we just, if you could help us get to an inn or anywhere we can rest.
- Yeah, please follow me. - Thank you. - At least they're going to wander back to the road. Making your way to the town of Lockford. This is, anyone want to roll a history check on Lockford? - I got a 17. - That would probably be the best bet. If we wanted to learn anything about Lockford. - Okay. 36. - Jesus. - I know everything. - We know the color of the underwear of the people in Lockford. - You were there when it was founded. - The underwear? - Is that the ribbon? - Hey, 19 plus seven, that's a detailed history. - That's a lot of crap. (laughing) - You're going to get us all fired.
(laughing) - Yeah, I've never done it before, come on. - I think everyone gets to do it at least once. - That's my one. - Lockford is a small town. Just, well, it's quite west of Whitehenge actually. It is just south of the Silverglade, which is a forest inhabited by all kinds of creatures. Lockford itself is a pretty small town. The reason it's a small town is because Lockford has had a bit of a problem in the last two, two and a half years, most notably with werewolves. There have been a constant string of reports that people will be drug away in the night and they will find shredded remains of them sometime the next day.
There has been a contest in Lockford and Fair Bay. Kind of their sister city called the Great Hunt, which is held, you know, thrice annually. They kind of compete with each other to see who can kill the most werewolves. This actually did the trick for a time because it would kind of bring in people from far and wide. It helped establish bragging rights for both towns, so it was good for tourism. All manner of people would show up and try their hand at killing some werewolves. So the hope was that there would be enough people that they could cover all of the Silverglade, flesh out all the werewolves and kill them.
What actually happened was you got a lot of drunk, stupid people who got bitten and it created more werewolves. So it kind of exasperated the problem to an extent. Would you like to roll a history check or a nature check on werewolves themselves? I'm guessing it'd be a nature check. 23. So werewolves in Theria work a little differently from the way they work in a lot of fiction and stuff. Think The Incredible Hulk. It's a curse, so no one's exactly sure how it got started, kind of like vampirism. Same kind of rules apply, you're bitten and eventually you will turn into a werewolf.
Now it's usually something controlled with emotion, anger, excitement, things like that. So those who have a strong willpower can kind of fend this off and resist it and have their humanity conquer the beast inside of them and just not hulk out, wolf out, and kill anything in the surrounding area. Those people with the weak will completely let the beast dominate them and instead of it just being a thing that happens when they get excited or angry, they just are werewolves. Those are the most dangerous because they, it's completely unpredictable where, they are pack animals.
So they do hunt in packs, they act very much like wolves where they will surround a target, take it down and tear it to shreds. Then move on to the next target and the next until there's nothing left to eat. They tend to be large, some of them as large as eight and a half feet tall. Dangerously fast, incredibly deadly. But the great hunt was established to kind of take them out. There is a large cash bounty for taking down any number of werewolves, not to mention the extreme gratitude of this tiny town. So that is pretty much all you need to know about werewolves.
- Question, which I don't know if it would constitute another role or anything like that, but you said, you mentioned something about if people have been bitten but can kind of control the type of like when they kind of turn into werewolves, when they're controlling it, quote unquote, is there any sort of physical like thing that you notice about them? Like, oh, that person has the curse, we shouldn't get them angry. Or is it just something that spontaneously, like all of a sudden their shirt rips off and they just turn into a werewolf? - It's something where the more control they have over it, like you'll notice them start to sweat or tremble or they'll clench their fists.
They're like, they're desperately trying, again, thank the Incredible Hulk, like very much, just trying to like calm down, calm down. And then if they, if that doesn't work and they start losing control, they will grow and they will rip clean out of their clothing. But once that happens, once they're that far along, you have precious seconds to get the fuck out of the room they occupy. - Okay, I didn't know if that, it was a thing where they, it just kind of spontaneously, like we'd be talking to a bar patron and then all of a sudden they'd be like, and I'll be like, okay, they're now werewolf.
Or if it was something that you noticed. - Yeah, and no one wants that to happen, by the way. This isn't something that can be flicked on and off. This is because you lose control. It's not, they're not, like no werewolf is gonna be speaking to you. They are beasts. They will, they will, even if like, let's say, let's say you've been adventuring with one for a while or something and something were to happen. It does not distinguish between friend or foe. Anything can be a target. And in close quarters, they're extremely dangerous because they can close the gap between you and them in an instant, so.
- So there's no rational, it's not like vampires where they can be. - Oh no, no, this is, no. No, you're not gonna converse with them. - Okay, just letting you know. - And then we were just trying to figure it out, which I don't know if you can tell us, but is it, would it be a perception or an insight? - 'Cause they're trying to hide it from us, I would assume if they were like getting agitated and about to freak out. - That's a perception roll, yeah. - Okay. - That is definitely a perception roll unless they say something like, are you a vam, are you a werewolf?
No, and then you wanna roll insight on that. That's one, yeah. That's totally one thing. - So sorry, is it just one bite? - Normally, yes, but again, some of the races of Theria are pretty resilient. Like you got dwarves and tieflings, things like that. They're fairly resilient towards things like that. And it's not like the zombie thing or the vampire thing. This is different, this is a curse. So it skips people entirely sometimes. - Is there a cure? - Well, now that you wouldn't know with that roll. - Okay, we'll need to talk to people. - Yep. - I think you will.
- Okay. - Wandering into Lockford, unless anyone has any more questions. - I'm good. I just wanted to know if we were gonna notice if somebody's spontaneously combusted into a werewolf. - Spontaneously combusted. - I'd kind of like to know who these people are who were successful at killing werewolves. - Well, you can ask around town. - Like is there any like, okay, like I'll just ask around if there's like a legendary warrior or something, because if somebody was successful at killing them, then it's not like it's impossible. - Nothing's impossible. Nothing at all is impossible, but yeah.
- That, yep, there are two establishments open currently in Lockford. And that would be the Hearth, which is their little inn, and the Iron Goblet, which is their local pub. It is completely up to you. These guards have kind of, there's an archway over top of Lockford, and once you're past it, the guards kind of nod to you. If there's anything else you need, let us know. We'll be patrolling the grounds. - Appreciate the escort into town. - The guy just kind of nods his head and lets you do your business. So what would you like to do? - What time, like, I know you just kind of said it was the middle of the night.
What kind of time is it? - No, no, no, this will be just after sunset, actually. Like the sun has gone down here, and yeah, this is just cresting on nightfall. - And then you said it was, the inn was open, and then... - The pub. - I'm gonna go to the pub. - Okay. - I need a drink. (laughing) - Yeah, I'll think at first. - Yeah, I want to, I just don't want to get in a fight there. - Then don't pick a fight there. - Sometimes they pick fights with us, like those dark ones. - Is that what you're like when you're drunk? (laughing) - I just imagine like a front stick going, like force punching somebody in the face.
- He's done it before. - Knocked over my beer. (laughing) - Just frat boys in the front, that's all it is. - No, we can go to the pub. - We're day gonna go. - You don't all have to go. - Yeah, I was gonna say, I was just going to the pub. - Free will, you're in town, I mean it's, yeah. - Okay, well my first thought was just to go rest, 'cause I'm by a thread. - Yeah, I was gonna say, Cory would probably want to go make sure they have a bed for her, yeah. (laughing) - I only have to get, I only have to get sleep every, six hours of sleep every 72 hours, so I was gonna go drink a little.
- Okay. - And then probably rest before we actually started moving in the morning, so I could reset. - All right, so let's see, let me get a tally of who's going to the inn. It looks like Cory and Dagon are going to the inn. - I'll go to the inn too. - Trixie. All right, Trixie and Brenneth. - Yes. - The inn, okay, so Rickus is the only one going to the pub. So let's start with the inn. - Okay, Rickus the horn. - Oh yeah. - Oh yeah, that's actually-- - Is that okay? Can I lend it to him? - Yes, you absolutely can. - Okay, all right. I, and I will pass, I will pass my horn of summons, is that what it's called?
To Rickus and say, you know, don't do anything foolish, and of course call us if you need us. - I got your digits, girl. - It's a Therian cell phone. - Wandering through the door of the hearth. It is a pretty appropriate name. This place is warm and cozy. Walking in, there is a lit fireplace across from which is a small desk where a younger woman is just kind of, just kind of assessing you as you walk through the door. And there's this little bell that kind of chimes when you walk in, just kind of hanging over the doorway. Hi, come in. It's getting pretty late.
I didn't expect there to be any travelers coming in. - I would assume we all walk up to the desk. - I will ask her if there are any rooms available. - Yeah, we have two left. Four beds total. Is that gonna be enough or are there more with you? - There's another. I don't need a bed. That'll be fine. - This girl is wide-eyed looking at Cory. Just kind of, at first, like she's trying very hard to be polite, but at the same time, holy shit, is kind of her default, like, oh wow. I don't think the beds are gonna be quite big enough for you. - She's just gonna give her a big warm smile and say that the floor will do just fine just as long as it's in closed quarters.
- I can give you extra linens at least. You can kind of pad the floor. - That sounds wonderful. So who's sleeping in what room? Just curious. - I'm coming to sleep. - Boys in one room, boys in the other. - I was gonna say, I'm coming to sleep eventually. - So Dagon, you have the room to yourself for a little bit. - Nice. Dagon's gonna start jumping up and down on the beds. - I'm stealing the pillows. - Rie just comes back, he has a mattress and that's it. - You're that guy, you're the pillow thief guy? God damn it. See, that's why I brought extra pillows to Missouri.
I was prepared for shit like that. - Okay, I guess I'm by myself. - Well, you don't have to sequester you. I was just curious as to who got what. - No, they made up their mind. - Oh, okay. - I'm by myself. - Well, you can come hang out with us. We're just gonna have a pillow fight. - You can totally have a sleepover. (laughing) - Just move your bed into our room, you're good. - This is one of the nicer inns that you'll encounter on the road. Sometimes just a place to keep the rain off your back is nice, but this is a nice warm little place. It even has a bathroom where you can go, you can kind of go clean the shit off of you and you can kind of get cleaned up.
So that's kind of a rarity on the road. Is there anything you guys would like to talk about now that you're off the road, you're out of danger, there's nothing that's gonna attack you or anything? - Check if you'd like to get to know Corey more. - Okay, cool. - Where he's from and anything about her. - How would you like to start that off? - We can go sit by the fire. - Yes. - 'Cause Corey doesn't drink, so. She's not gonna go to the bar at any point. - Well, there's probably not enough alcohol to get Corey drunk. - It would be the whole bar. - She'd be the DD just carrying everyone back to their rooms.
- You know how many wagon accidents a year in Theria due to drunk driving? - Are we taking a pause in the session to do a PSA about drunk driving in Theria? - Drunk wagon driving. - All right, so Trixie and Corey are kind of sitting by the fire here. - Okay, well Corey's gonna ask, what exactly are you? I've never seen one of such dark skin before. I've seen the pointed ears on many people, but never one with such a dark complexion. - I'm a dark elf, normally called a drow. Nothing special. - Dagon will smile when she says that. - She just shoots a glare at Dagon.
- And you, sir, directed at Dagon. - Oh, I'm one of a kind. - Or so he thinks he is. - Yeah. I'm a high elf, an eladrin of Odysseus. - Which is what exactly? I'm sorry, I'm not very accustomed to most traditions. - I am the high end of the spectrum, a noble elf, pure blood. The eladrin have, for lack of a better word, disappeared. And I've been searching for, coming on 70 years, and you could say it's become my only goal in life, but I will find them. - Kori just has this very quizzical look on her face. - Some might call me crazy, but I know deep down that they are still alive.
What of you? We've never seen a goliath before. - I don't think I've seen any on the mainland either. I seem to be the only one, though I know more must have traveled here from the islands. But for most of the time I've been on the mainland, I've spent it in the Evergreen. - What made you come to the mainland? - Treachery made me come to the mainland, mostly, but I was rejected from my tribe for political reasons. - Can you be more specific, or is that like a touchy subject? - It's not touchy to me. It's a little hard to explain the customs of my race, but, and she's gonna point to the markings across her skin.
These lithoderms are supposed to write my fate for me, and the sightseers didn't see one. My pages are blank, and this was frightening to most of the tribe, and I was cast off. - Well, just because your destiny is unwritten does not mean you're not welcome here. - She's gonna raise her head from looking at her skin and smile up at Trixie. - Trixie just nods her head and continues to look at the floor. Not trying to be rude, but that's kind of her default position. - So how about we catch up with Brian, with Rekis? - I say, who's Brian? - Who is this Brian you speak of?
- We have a new Brian, yes. - Just covering my mistake, I make up a character named Brian on the spot. The Iron Goblet is this little town's pub. So Rekis walking through the door, there are only a couple of other patrons, and they're all kind of quietly enjoying their drink. There are two people in the back kind of sitting next to each other, and then there's one lonely looking guy, an older guy sitting by himself, just kind of depressingly sipping at his drink. And they're, roll a perception check for me, please. - Okey-dokey. Sorry, cat. 15. - 15. Okay.
So across the bar, there is obviously the bartender, kind of a fatter looking guy, about six feet tall, big mutton chops. And he's gonna give you this big warm greeting when you walk in. They're kind of happy to see anyone come to this little town. Oh, hey, come on over, come on over. - I'll walk over to the bar. - Wow, it is nice, nice to see travelers. Can I get you anything? - I'll just order whatever ale or anything like that. I'm not a bar expert, so I'll just order the ale. - Sure, coming right up, coming up. Is there anyone with you? Do you want me to set up some more drinks?
- Somebody might come over, but no, it's just me right now. I need some alone time, I guess, or need some time to think out loud. - Oh, sure, sure, anything you need, buddy, anything you need. And he set your drink up. - Is there any, stupid question, any stools or anything right up? - Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. - I'll take a sip. - Typical bar setup. - And then I'll take a sip from it, and I'll kind of have a strong, I just had a lemon in my mouth look, just 'cause Ricus doesn't drink a lot unless he's obviously super stressed. And I'll swallow the ale and then just look at him, look at the guy and just say, "The name's Ricus, just traveling, came in here.
I assume this is your establishment?" - Yeah, John Hanson, and he holds out his hand. - I'll shake his hand. - He kind of gives you this vigorous, hearty handshake. - I'll take another sip and just kind of look around a little bit at the other people in the bar, and then I'll just look back at him and just ask him, what's the story around here? What's everybody talking about? I know we had a little impromptu meeting with the town guard. Do you know anything about the werewolf problem you guys are having? - Roll a perception check, please. - 14. (laughing) - You can see by the look on his face, as soon as you said the word werewolf, his face kind of goes pale.
And you can kind of hear in the back of you that the rest of the people in the bar heard you say werewolf and they're all gonna kind of set their drinks down and you kind of see the bartender hold up his hand. And then he leans down. We don't like to use that word here. Look, you look like you're pretty able-bodied. I can fill you in on the whole story, but please keep your voice down, okay? - I'll just kind of like grip my teeth a little bit and kind of lean in and just kind of just say, yeah, sorry, not really been around town folk for a while. So my social cues are a little off.
How much gold do I have on me? I just realized that. - What does it say in your character sheet? - It says 260. I just, I really haven't ever used gold that much. So I didn't know. - Yeah, you guys usually have, you haven't found a treasure trove of gold yet. I think Baranath has the most 'cause he kind of barred it from the house and just never returned it. But again, we discussed that's kind of like, yeah. - How much is the actual ale and stuff? - That's only a couple of gold pieces. - Okay, so would it like, what I'm asking is would it break my bank as an apology to saying the word werewolf if I bought everybody that's in the bar right now another round?
- Oh, there's only three other people. So no. - Okay, yeah. So I'll just kind of turn around to everybody and go, yeah, sorry, not exactly the smartest cookie in the jar. And I'll just say, if anybody wants another round, it's on me. - And you hear the two men in the background sitting, like sitting with each other, just like, oh, and like, yeah, so they will take a drink. So John's gonna kind of hurry over and refill their stuff and come back to you. - And then I'll just say, so we didn't get a lot of information. I'm just kind of curious, what is the like story behind the situation you guys are in?
What kind of, I don't know, what's the story behind everything that's happened with this? - Okay, well, and as he starts to speak, the door to the pub kind of swings open again. And there's a gaunt looking man with this big thick gray beard, real thin looking. And he has this really pronounced limp and he's gonna walk into the bar, walk up to the bar and have a seat right next to Ricas. And he just kind of motions to the bartender and the bartender's gonna pour him what you would imagine would be his usual. - Ricas is kind of follow the guy the entire time up to a seat next to him with just a slight raised eyebrow.
Like, ooh, this guy is obviously a normal person that comes in and then just kind of turn back to the bartender and just, well, no, he's actually gonna just turn to the guy that sat next to him and extend his hand and just say, Ricas. - This dude is, he's got these big creepy eyes and he kind of like opens them real wide and he's just kind of like looking you up and down. And he kind of, he spots the big, the war hammer and like you are obviously some type of adventurer or someone of some sort of fighting reputation. And he's gonna grasp your hand back.
Captain Patsyham, you look able-bodied. - Yeah, I guess you could say that. - You mind if I ask what brings you here? - Just passing through. I got a group of friends over at the inn. They're all taking a rest. I needed some time to myself just to kind of recuperate. We've been on the road a fair bit. A lot has happened to us in the last few weeks. I just needed a break from everything. - You'll find it here. It's plenty safe within the walls. And then he's gonna kind of eyeball, he's gonna kind of eyeball John. Like you can tell, like the two of them are thinking something, but they just haven't said it out loud yet.
- Should I rule? Would that be perception? - That's something you readily notice. That like these two, like it's that thing, like he's looking at you, but like his eyes break eye contact and look over at John and like he's doing the same thing. So then you can, it's pretty noticeable. - Like this guy's pretty big. I'll take another sip of my ale and just look down at the, can't remember, Patty? - Patsy. - Patsy, I'll look down at-- - Patsy's not much of a dude's name. - Hey, no judgment here. I'll look down at Patsy's leg and just say, notice the limp when he walked in.
What happened? - He's gonna kind of look down and kind of rub his leg for a second. I was part of a great hunt about a year and a half back. It didn't end well. Lost my whole party. That was only supposed to be in town about two weeks. I'm no good at sea anymore, so this is where I live. Though I suppose it's better than what Shane got. And he kind of motions back towards the lone guy sitting by himself, the older gent. And he's gonna kind of lean into you and lower his voice. Did you hear about his poor son? - Haven't been in town long enough to actually learn anything.
That's why I came to the pub. - Well, you see, Shane there used to be quite the hunter. And his son Trevor was following in his daddy's footsteps. Poor boy was only 17 when they were attacked by the pack. It's a particularly vicious band of wolves. They managed to fend off a couple of them, but one of them drug the boy off. Somehow or another, he got away and Trevor lived. This was just over two years ago. Poor boy was no good at hunting anymore, so he worked the bar. One day some local thugs came in, harassed the kid, and he lost his temper. And that's when we found out that he was a werewolf, or whatever you wanna call him.
They have different names. That kid tore through this place like a hurricane. And he motions over to the wall and you can see, if you're looking for it, you can see where they tried to cover it up. But there are these etchings in the wall where it looks like someone took a knife and just carved down their claw marks. But the claws are spaced out almost two inches apart each. So whatever this, I mean, the thing that did it had a massive hand. He killed three people that night before he finally escaped the bar and ran off into the woods. We've set numerous parties after him.
There've been many great hunts since, but no one can find them. And anyone who does doesn't usually come back, or they come back like me. Can I ask you a question? - Not sure if I'll give you an answer, but you can sure try. And he'll, like, Riekus will kinda like say this, take a swig, and then just kinda smile a little bit. Trying to still like act tough, given the situation and the story that's been told. Riekus is really awkward with social cues. - The people in your party, do they all look like you? - Not all of them, but I've been through fighting in my life.
I've seen a lot of blood, I've seen a lot of death, and I don't think I would want another group near me to help fight next to me and protect me. - What I'm asking is, do you think they could hold their own? - They could certainly try. I haven't seen them fail yet. - To be honest, we could use some help. It's, it's been quite rough. Most of the people that go hunting for the, and he kind of like, he's almost gonna, like he calls them another name and then stops himself. Most of the people that go hunting for them, are drunks, or not even apt hunters. But if we had an actual adventuring party going after them, we might get some real results.
If we could offer you coin, would you be interested? - Riekus is gonna, he's getting basically to the bottom of his drink, and he kind of just puts the cup back up onto the bar, and then runs his hand past his face, and he's just gonna kind of stare at Patsy for a little bit, and then stare over, over at the other guy, and he's just gonna kind of squint, and he's making, he's really thinking hard about this. Like he's making a very like thinking face, and he'll just look at him and say, for me at least, I'm not the person that would do something like this for gold, that's just not me.
I've not had the upbringing that would make me do something like this for money. I can't speak for everybody else. I've learned not to make decisions for everybody else. But let me, I'll go talk to them. We'll either talk this evening, if they're still up when I get back, or in the morning, and whatever the decision is, I'll meet you. I can meet you here. Would that be the best place to meet you, and let you know what the deal is? Or would, is there a better spot in town for me to meet you, and just at least tell you in person whether or not we'll be able to help you?
- Patsy's gonna speak up, and John kind of cuts him off. Patsy's usually at the pub. (laughs) And then Patsy just kind of looks, and is like, hey, fuck you, dude. Like he kind of like gives him, just kind of gives him a look real quick. - I'll look over at John and then Patsy. And then I'll reach into my pocket and like pay for the drink, and then pay for Patsy's. And then I'll shake both of their hands, and just say, I'll do my best. I'll talk to them, and I'll let you guys know. I can't make any guarantees. That's not my prerogative, and I don't have the ability to do that, but I'll certainly try and see if we can get you guys some help.
- Patsy's gonna shake your hand and kind of put, like kind of slam his hand against your shoulder. You're a good man. Rekus, you said your name was. - Yes, sir. Thank you. - Thank you. And he's gonna go back to his drink and sit down. - And then Rekus will go and like walk past them and go to the door, but before he gets to the door, he'll kind of stop and turn back. I'm forgetting names out there, but what's the older guy's name? - Shane. - Rekus will kind of turn back and look at Shane, and then he'll walk over and very like cautiously, not like I'm a man on a mission walk over, but he'll just kind of gently walk over to Shane.
And regardless of Shane's looking up, watching me when I walk over, I'll just look at him and say, my father wasn't really a good person, but I know you're a good person 'cause you loved your son. I can't make any guarantees, but we're gonna try to get you some help and get you some closure for this. And then I'll just kind of, I'll flip him whatever amount is to pay for his drink, and then just walk out of the bar without him being able to say anything. - I imagine you're heading on over to the hearth, the inn. - Yes, sir. - Okay. So let's say that you've went across the street and you're at the inn and you are catching up with the party here.
- Are they, is everybody still awake? I don't know what time it is. - I would say, I would say, yeah, this is, yeah, not much time has passed since you kind of left them. They would still be chit-chatting near the fireplace. I will, I'll just kind of like, I don't know if Dagon's still in the room with all the girls, but I'll just kind of corral everybody in and just kind of expel everything that the person at the pub told me, just because it would take just as long to explain everything else, the whole story with Shane and his son and stuff like that.
And then just kind of look around at the party, looking each of them in the eye as I'm speaking and just say, look, I know we're all tired and I know this is probably the last thing we want to do, but it's hard for me to walk away from this kind of situation without some sort of regret in my heart. And I don't know if we will make it out alive. I don't know if this is the best decision, but, and I hate to do this right before we're all getting ready to rest up, but if everybody could kind of think in their head and kind of decide what they want to do, what they think the best decision and best choice will be for this kind of situation, we can all sleep on it.
And then we can kind of reconvene in the morning. And I promised Patsy that I would, and I assume like they've caught on that I know who Patsy is, but I promised Patsy that I would talk to him in the morning and just let him know whatever decision we make. But as far as my vote is, I think we should at least try to get this guy some closure and help him out the best way we can. - I'm gonna agree that, you know, anyone who needs help that can't do it themselves with their own hands, obviously when they seek others' assistance, we should be more than willing to help, but we do need to rest.
- Yeah, that's why I wanted us to, at least everybody can sleep on it and kind of decide for themselves instead of all of us sitting around and going, okay, now what is your choice? What is your choice? So if, yeah, we can sleep on it and then decide in the morning and then I can let Patsy know. - Sure. - And now Dagon and I are gonna go have a slumber party. - Kill a fight. - So you're a journey to your rooms and you're gonna get some rest and kind of reconvene in the morning? - Unless somebody else wants to do something. - I'm tuckered. - Doesn't sound like it, okay.
- I'm dying. Just need to sleep. (laughing) - All right, do me a favor. Everyone go ahead and give your characters a rest. The sun is still down. It hasn't come up quite yet, but there are people in town starting to stir. Like shops aren't really open, but it's like people are starting to kind of get up. There are farmers that have stuff to do and anybody who would be up very early in the morning. And that would give you all about eight hours of rest. So all of you got your dailies back and all that good stuff. - Beautiful. - All your hit points. Daily, your surges, all that stuff.
The fog that was out last night has lifted somewhat, but it's still pretty foggy out. - Is that done, are we obscured then if we just happen to get into combat? - It's more like it hovers around your feet. It isn't as thick as it was the night before where you can't see like five feet in front of your face. So it's more like, it's more atmospheric, I guess, than actual, yeah. - Okay. - Like dry ice movie fog? - Kind of, yeah. - Sexy fog. - Sexy fog. I guess the question is, what would you guys like to do here? - I would assume. - You have a decision to make.
- Well, I was gonna say, I would assume we would all kind of reconvene and maybe if there's anywhere to like, you get a little food or something like that and just kind of like a general meeting place that we all can kind of reconvene and just talk about that decision. - Hey, we're good at breakfast. - Roll for bacon. - Oh God. - Oh yeah. - Yeah. - Grown. - So I guess if we're all kind of meeting around, Ricus will just kind of ask, all right, let's deal with the elephant in the room. What is the general choice that we've all made? - I think I made my thoughts known last night.
- Branneth. - I'll wait to hear what everyone else has to say. - Dagon will look at Ricus and say, do you have me at your side? You're clearly an honorable man, but you're crazy if you think I'm not taking payment for this. - Hey, like I told you, I'm gonna assume that I told him this, but like I said to you guys last night, I can't take payment for something like this. You guys are, they offered coin, they offered gold to us for completing this task and if you guys wanna take it, whatever, you guys can split my share, but I can't take gold for this kind of thing.
- And then you have to fund your adventure. You have to eat. - I fund it with pride. I think Trixie might've been the only person that might've not said anything yet. - So Trixie looks up from her feet yet again and says, you know, I understand what it means for situations to get out of hand and you not have any control. If this is what really happened to the boy, then you have me, I'll help you no matter what. - Branneth, I know you said you were waiting on everybody else. - And we all turn and stare at Branneth. - No, I just, I don't like this for two reasons.
First, I feel like this is incredibly dangerous and I really don't feel good about risking my life for this. The other part of it is that I can't help but feel like we'd be trying to kill people because while they're monsters, some part of them was a person at some point and I'd have to kind of resolve that, you know, within myself. That said, I will not leave your side and together if this is something you all wanna do, then I'll stay with you. - As like Branneth's talking kind of trails off, Rekis will kind of, I don't know if she's sitting down or whatever, but Rekis will approach Branneth, just kind of look at her and not forcibly, but kind of gently like put his hands on top of hers and just look at her and say, look, I know there's a lot of heavy feeling on your heart right now, but and I know your feelings about this are true and I know you're uncomfortable about dealing with this, but we killed a city of people.
Zombies, they were still people before. Not, well, go ahead. - Sorry. And Corey's just gonna say from behind Rekis and to my understanding, these people have killed innocents. - Wait, this is not gonna be a fun situation and I'll kind of like stop looking at her and kind of look around the room. This isn't gonna be a fun situation. We're not, this is not gonna be easy. There's gonna be a lot of times where we're probably gonna be pushed up against the wall, but like I told them at the pub last night, you guys are the best friends I have right now and the best people I could have at my side and I wouldn't feel right if we weren't all in this together, but this guy, a situation like this just kind of reached out to me and this guy needs closure and I think this is something that we should do.
- I've lost my friends and I have lost, I've lost my friends and you are all I have left. You're the family I have left, so you have me. I will stay by your side. - I'll look at Branneth and just kind of look her straight in the eyes and just go, I won't let anything happen to you, okay? - Thank you. - You got my word. - Thank you. - Rekis. - Yeah. - Did you inquire about a cure? - I hadn't got that far. Truth be told, I didn't know how you guys would feel. So I got the most amount of information I could. Truthfully, I just wanted to go drink last night, but I got the most amount of information I could.
If you guys wanna come with me, I know Patsy asked if you guys were all my size. So if you could kind of raise your shoulders up a little bit. Corey, you really don't need to do anything, but we can certainly find out more information. I know John, the bartender said Patsy will be at the pub. So if we wanna head over there and we can talk and get more information about this kind of situation. - So it sounds like you guys are going werewolf hunting? - Apparently. - But you'd like to go hit the pub first? - Yeah, just I can tell Patsy. - We have some more questions.
- Okay. - Questions. - So the party's assembled and you're walking across the street to the iron goblet. Again, it looks like the sun is just cresting over the trees. So the sun's a-risin' now. So that will help hunting werewolves. That will help. It probably wasn't a smart idea to go out in the pitch black night with a thick fog to go hunt these vicious, dangerous beasts. So good on you. That was pretty smart. - Yay. - For now. - We had a smart moment, document it. - Walking into the bar, it's just John and Patsy. John looks exhausted. Like it looks like this is probably the end of his little shift here.
Like there may be someone who kind of takes over for him. Patsy on the other hand looks fine. Like he looks like this is pretty much where he lives. So go right ahead. - Riekis will kind of walk in front of everybody else and walk up to the bar, shake John's hand and then shake Patsy's hand and, or at least extend my hand to them and offer to shake. I keep assuming, but extend my hand to both of them and then just say, well, I brought my friends over here. And then from left to right, I'll introduce them like Corey, Baraneth, Trixie and then Dagon. - Can I do a perception check on these guys just to see if they're legit?
- Sure, sure. - Okay. - Just see if they're legit. 29. What exactly are you looking for perception wise? - Just looking at them closely 'cause I'm not gonna trust them right off the bat. So just to make sure nothing suspicious is happening. Any nervous twitches, anything like that where we might be getting set up for something terrible. - Okay, that's fair enough. John again looks exhausted. Portly guy behind the bar. Other than that, there doesn't appear to be anything shifty about him. If you're looking for signs that maybe he's holding back a beast within, something like that.
- Yeah. - Doesn't look to be like he appears to just be a guy. Patsy is a very grizzled looking individual. It looks like he's had a pretty rough life thus far. And being attacked and crippled by wolves, werewolves specifically, doesn't help. - Okay. - He doesn't, again, no signs that he's trying to keep calm in a situation, this particular situation anyway. It doesn't look like he's acting any different than most normal folks would act. - Okay. And they're the only ones here? - They would be the only ones in the bar currently. - Okay. I'll walk up to Patsy and say, Patsy, is it?
- Yep. - Tell me, do you know perhaps of a cure for their condition? - Only cure I know of is a nice silver blade through the head. Any blade will do really, but silver seems to hurt them worse. - So there's no coming back from this? - Once you're that far gone, I don't see one, no. But again, I'm no expert. My only, and he kind of looks down at his leg. My only attempt at actually fighting them ended pretty poorly. We tried hunting, we tried hunting in larger groups, but they seemed to avoid us. We even tried hiring a big time monster hunter from out west, but that was almost two years ago and she never showed.
- I'd like to know who that monster hunter is. - Are you asking? - Who's that monster hunter? (laughing) - Way to go. - See, how hard is that? That's not-- - I'm sorry. - That's back a little bit, like way to go. - Name's Leorra Brios. She is mainly known for vampires, but she'll hunt anything for coin. She's supposed to be quite good from what I hear. - So who else has successfully killed one of these beasts? - There are a few travelers. We've had adventures come through before. I don't know if it was their specific pack or party, but maybe it was pure luck, but we've taken down quite a few of them to be honest.
The problem is when the drunks and shiftless layabouts got involved, they would either be torn to shreds and feed them or they would be bitten and live, which was far worse. - So aside from remaining sober, do you have any advice for us on how we can be successful? You know, defeat these beasts and keep our lives. - Well, do any of you have any silver on you? - I'm gonna look around and shrug. I don't believe I have any. Wait, what's my dagger made of? - Steel, most weapons are made of steel or iron or something like that. None of you have any silvered weapons, I believe.
- Well, where can we get a silvered weapon? Is there an armory or somewhere in this town where we can acquire these weapons? - If it were that easy, trust me, we'd all be using them. It's quite rare to find a smith who's good enough with silver to actually make you a decent weapon. And I'm sure if you search hard enough in the forest, you'll find plenty. - There are a lot of foolhardy, there are a lot of foolhardy people who went into the forest thinking that a weapon was all they needed. My advice to you is to stay close to each other. Keep an eye on one another.
Make sure that you constantly keep an eye on the tree line. Don't let them get the jump on you. They're insanely fast. And once they have one of you, you'll have precious seconds before they rip you to shreds. - I'm gonna give a look to Rikas and Trixie and everyone kind of as if to say, are you hearing this? - Rikas who's sitting on the other side of Patsy from where everybody else is, is just kind of like rubbing his chin a little bit. Like, it's gonna be tough. - We wouldn't ask you if we didn't have any other recourse. Trust me, I know what we're requesting.
I've seen what they can do firsthand and I honestly wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. If there's anything we can do to make your fight, just if there's anything we can do, let us know. - Rikas will kind of look both between like Patsy and John and just say, are there any sort of shops or anything around here? - Well, the armory's closed for the week, but there's an apothecary, a potion shop. Is there something specific you need? - I know we would probably like to load up on at least something that would give us the little oomph while we're out fighting.
I'll look around to the party and be like, are you guys looking for, I mean, I know potions was one of the things on our shopping list. - It would be nice if we could get our hands on some silver, but I don't think we wanna waste the day. I feel like if we were to wait until nighttime, we would be at a disadvantage, so the less stops. - Why is the armory closed? - The girl who runs it, her father died in Fair Bay and she's left to go deal with that. - She left no one in charge? - There's no one left in her family to run the shop. She doesn't trust anyone.
- If there's anything I can do as far as the potion shop goes, I'll be happy to go get any supplies you need. I'll round them up and bring them right back to you. - I mean, the big potions we need are the health ones. What other, like, okay, that's a silly question, but I assume it's just healing potions, like there aren't ones that make you jump real high and fly real fast. - Most potion shops sell herbs for other potion makers. There are very specific potions. There's all kinds of stuff out there, but what you're looking for is someone with talent when it comes to that, because the more unique the potion, the more skilled the brewmaster has to be to make it.
So most of the time you'll find health potions, you'll find like cure light wounds, things like that. It's very basic stuff, but mostly they sell herbs. - How helpful is our Faerut? - Faerut is, well, to you, as an item in potions, it's not helpful at all because none of you are, none of you are potion makers, but as an object for wealth, you guys got a few ounces of that stuff, so you can sell it in a bigger city for quite a profit. You'd have to negotiate, but you could sell it for quite a profit. - All right. - Is there any natural, not werewolf repellent, but something that might keep them at bay?
- Well, silver's your best bet. That seems to be their only weakness in terms of hurting them. There's a couple of things about werewolves that make them very scary, very dangerous. One of which is that it appears as though that over time they have the ability to regenerate flesh. - The hell? - That if you, let's say you stab or cut a werewolf, that depending on how deep the wound is, it will immediately start to regenerate. Not super fast. They're kind of Wolverine, a little bit. They are, that's one of the things that make them tough to kill because there are people who have wounded one, it scampers off and they figure, okay, we're gonna give chase.
And by the time they catch up to it, it's healthy enough to keep fighting. And you've exhausted yourself looking for it. - Does, okay, so if it regenerates, okay, this might sound like a repetitive or redundant question, but like, if it regenerates flesh, does that mean it regenerates health too? - Yes. - Son of a bitch, what did I do? (laughs) - But again, it's not like a hundred health a turn. It's not like that. It's not ridiculous. - I know. - Okay, so do they travel in packs? Are they solitary? - No, they're definitely pack animals. They hunt in packs.
So they're basically wolves, just seven to eight foot tall wolves who can leap and run and climb and jump. - And think. - And kind of think. They're not gonna be as witty as humans, but I mean, they hunt very well. - Jurassic Park style. - Yes. - So, okay, so they probably have a good sense of smell. - Oh yeah. - So do we have anything that can mask our smell? - Well, what are you trying to mask it with? 'Cause you can rub yourself in different things. - She's now helping me find out. - That's funny. (laughs) - I'm sorry. - I love you, Alana. - I love you too.
- I don't know, like forest stuff, moss, that kind of thing. - Red fox urine. - Would, could I do a nature check to see if like, I know of a specific root or something that if we rubbed it all over ourselves, we would, I don't know, smell like shit so they couldn't find us. - You could just use shit too. - I know where there's some unicorn carcass. - Do me a favor, roll a nature check. - 38. - Jesus. - Damn. - Almost a crit, sorry. - That's your one. - That's like how everyone says it and then immediately apologize, I'm sorry. I don't know what came over me.
- I do that with okie dokie. - Corey would know that there are a couple of things out towards the forest that you can use to mask your scent. And that would give you, it wouldn't completely hide your scent, but it definitely would give you an edge if they were trying to get the jump on you. So it would definitely buy you some time in terms of scouting the tree line, trying to find them before they find you. 'Cause you are definitely much, okay, you are very much going into their domain. Like you're going into the forest to find them. Now you got two things in your favor.
One, that, what I just mentioned, and then it's daylight and the fog is lifting. So by the time you get to the forest, there won't be much fog at all. It'll pretty much just be at your feet completely and you'll be able to see. It'll be illuminated. - I mean, the only other question I would have is if Patsy knows, like I know we keep asking questions about this kind of stuff, but if Patsy actually knows just if he has any sort of like item or anything valuable, like any sort of information that we can take along and help us outside of what he's already told us, or if he has told us basically everything.
- Well, yeah, he's, I mean, he wants you to succeed. It's not like he's gonna pull up, oh, well I got the werewolf slaughter in cube. You guys can have that. It just, it shoots lasers. Do you want that? Like, I mean, he's not like he's, he wants you to succeed. He's trying to give you every advantage he can. - Okay. - Can we ask him if he has any silver he could give us? - He would have offered like it, like that totally would have offered. Again, wants you to succeed. - I mean, I'll look over at the party and just kind of take a deep breath and say, okay, so I know we all talked about this before we walked over, but if we do this, we gotta sit, we gotta be very military like.
We gotta make sure that we file in. I'll go up front, one, 'cause I'm dragging us into this, but two, just because I'll be able to hit the hardest. And we just, we gotta make sure that we can protect the people that are gonna need protecting and stuff like that. But is, does anybody have any other thoughts, second thoughts, or are we all in? - Let's just go and get this over with. - Is there anyone in town who's more useful than Patsy with information? Like someone who might have a good battle plan? - Uh, this, Patsy would probably be your best bet in terms of like he's actually fought them before, like he knows, yeah.
- Is there, I think this might be a redundant question, but is there anybody else who would, like are they planning another great hunt or whatever here soon, or is this, we're just going on our own and we're not gonna have anybody else out there? - You're asking him? - Yeah. - The next great hunt is scheduled for about three weeks from now. - Ooh. So I have my goals with this situation, and I'm talking to Patsy and John, but what are you guys looking out from us? Because we can very certainly go and do whatever we can. I wanna get closure, but are we, we're not gonna try to, you don't want us to try to end the entire population of them, or is that what you guys are after?
Like what do you want us to try to do while we're out there? - Honestly, if we can thin the herd, that would help us out immensely. They've gotten a bit more vicious with their attacks and it's harder and harder to keep them at bay. Eventually they will swarm the town and we can't keep them off of us. If we could at least make it to the next great hunt, we can try and take things from there. If you can kill two, maybe three of them, then that would do us a great deal of good, to be honest. - I don't have any more questions. Are we ready to go? - I don't think there's anything more we're gonna learn that's gonna help us out in this.
I think we just need to go. - Yeah. - We're doing it or we're not, and it sounds like we're doing it. - All right. So Patsy's going to disappear and he is going to hit that potion shop for you guys. He's gonna come back and he's going to hand you eight of the regular health potions. So you can divvy those up however you want. - I have two healing potions. You guys can take two apiece for the rest of them. - You sure? - Yes. Well, I'm already holding two. - Okay. - Sounds fair. Okay, here we go. - Traveling to the silver glade. - Oh my God, I'm so scared. (laughing) - Oh, we didn't discuss payment.
(laughing) - All right, Dagon wants all of us. - Tell you what, if we survive this, we go back and they give us everything. - We now have a city, wait. - If we can take out the werewolves, I'm sure we can intimidate them into something. - Roll a werewolf skull at them. See what the fuck we did to them. - Gold cow. - Dagon's just going to start running into the werewolves with the like unicorn horn. - Yeah. Some war chant. - So here's how we're going to do this. You can roll a perception or nature check to start tracking these werewolves. Either way, I think Corey's your woman.
- Ta-ta-ta-da. - You're up. - 39, it's a crit. - It's a crit. - It is? - Damn. That is a crit. Corey picks up on the trail immediately. - Are we scared of this stuff all over ourselves? Sorry. Did we do that? - I would imagine you did that. Like I imagine it's like, yeah, I know of this thing. Let's not do it. Like I imagine you, yeah. So there are roots you can ground up and let's call it mud. And you're kind of covering yourself predator style to kind of mask your scent. Although that was for heat vision, but whatever. So you're making your way further and further into the forest.
And you're getting to the point where the trees themselves are kind of, there's this pretty thick canopy above you. And it's starting to kind of get really, really shady, kind of blotting out the sun a bit. Do me a favor. Roll a perception check. - Perception nine. I am looking around with my eyes closed. - Eight. I'm right there with you. - I'm covering Trixie's eyes. - We're running into each other. That's good. I found Rheekus. - I'm behind a bush. - Baranath, Corey and Dagon are all going to hear. It starts out real low and it kind of hits this real high pitch.
It is the sound of something howling and it's kind of covering, it's coming from a north westernly direction, which leads off the trail and into the thick of the woods. - That's dangerous. - What was that noise? I don't say that loudly. - Corey is going to look back at the rest of her team who didn't hear it and be like, we must be getting close. - Rheekus will grab ahold of his war hammer and just like hold onto the handle as we're walking. - We're going to have to stealth through here because we're going to be snapping branches with every step. Or can we lure it out?
- That's up to you. Are you trying to, are you trying to bring them to you or are you trying to sneak up on them? - It's going to be tough to sneak on them if we have to go into the woods. - The only thing I can think of is if we try to sneak and fail, it won't do anything. But if we sneak in success, we might get a surprise attack. - But we all have to do it. - Yeah, but me. - I'm not very good at stealthiness stuff. - I'm not either. I got a six or a five. - I do have a thing for stealth though. - Five. - I can try to stealth forward and see if I see anything.
I just, I have to make a stealth check there and back, right? - The guy said we should stick together. That's all I'm going to say. - Yeah. I, at this point, I'm going to have to object to anybody moving ahead by themselves. - Yeah, we should stay in the clearing. - All right, so everyone do me a favor. Place your characters, place your characters on the map right in this area here. Or, I mean, anywhere you like. I'll tell you that. Put them anywhere you like on the map. - Uh huh, okay. - Oh, I'm dead. - I don't wanna. - Yeah, I kind of want to put myself as in front of as I can just because I'm the person that got us into this.
Okay. - People right in the middle. - Yeah, I'm going to go right there. There we go. Okay, now I'm settled. - So what are you doing to try and lower these werewolves into the clearing where you are right now? - Question. You said Northwest direction. From where we just put our characters, what direction would that be? - That would be, let me get my finger. - Let me grab my finger. - This general direction. - Oh, okay, so. - Glass cannonball or cannon, you need to probably step back a little. - Or maybe no, that might actually be good depending on where they pop out.
I think the best thing for us to do is to lure them out. - With what? - Sexy werewolf howling noises. - Someone call Edward Cullen. - Get out. (laughing) - Immediately. - This is my last show. I don't know. I don't know what you would use to pull out. - Can Corey make any like noises? Like any like animal noises? - Animal noises or? - With a high enough nature check, she would know what they sound like. Obviously that doesn't mean she would be very good at imitation. Like she's not an impressionist necessarily, but let's see here. What skills would she could try and bluff?
Any one of you can try and bluff your way. Like Corey could make a nature check and describe it. It's like, oh, it's like this. And like, she kind of like can kind of describe it and someone can make a bluff check to try and do a high. - I have a bluff plus 10. Would it give any help to like, if she explained it, would it add any bonuses like a plus one or plus two? - You can get a plus two if she gets a high enough check, which she probably will 'cause. - I can try for bluff. If anyone, unless anyone has any higher than a 10. - I have a four. - I'm a good boy.
- Okay. - So let's try that. Let's have Corey describe it, I guess. This will be entertaining. - And then she's doing the call. - Yeah, I'm gonna try. - Okay. - As soon as we do this too, Corey is gonna perception the hell out of these tree lines because he said to keep our eyes the tree lines and she wants to know where they're gonna come from. So. - Yep. - What's that first? - Oh. - 20. - Okay. - Wow, you not won it. - 20 is still pretty good. - Right after my crit, shit. - Yeah. So you're gonna describe to Trixie as best you can what that howl kind of sounds like.
But you don't do an incredible job. - Ow, ow, ow. - It's like a woo. - Put the dogs out. - It's like a woo. Like that. So Trixie does it. It's more like, okay, that's not very helpful, but thank you. Thank you for the effort. Really, really appreciate it. - Can we do a perception check on the tree line first? Just to see if he's right there. - Sure, go right ahead. - Okay, I guess I'll do it. - Got you. - Yeah. - 21. - So Dagon's gonna peer into this tree line here from whereabouts you heard the howl come from. And Dagon's standing in this clearing and you can tell while Corey's describing, it's like a woo, woo, like that.
Dagon's just kind of staring off into the tree line. He doesn't see any living things staring back at him. Trixie, you wanna try and bluff? - Sure. - 16. - So describe the howling noise you're gonna make. - No, I'm not doing it. (laughing) - Smurf. - You're no fun. - We'll just say mid howl, she just starts coughing uncontrollably. - Okay, fine. That's right, okay, fine. Okay, party pooper. - Hey. - No. You were nice to me in Missouri. I don't wanna call you a party pooper, I'm sorry. - I even brought you tea, gosh. - You did, you know what you did? Thank you very much, I appreciate that.
That's a plus one to your role for bringing me tea. (laughing) 'Cause I show favoritism to people. - I wanna start mailing you tea on a weekly basis just to make sure I make it through my roles. - Oh, don't get me wrong, I fucking hate tea, but I needed it, so. Yeah, so Trixie's gonna try her best werewolf impression, and she kind of howls into this empty field, and it doesn't quite sound right. It doesn't sound like the other, doesn't sound like the howl you heard coming from the forest. It sounds more like someone making fun of a werewolf, and it's more like, "Ah, you asshole werewolves, "this is how you sound, this is how you sound." Like just being obnoxious about it.
Dagon, make another perception check, please. - See if they're laughing at me. - 19. - Let's get the rad apples out of the way here. - For a while, nothing happens. Dagon's kind of scanning the tree line still while this is all going on, and this was a loud howl. Like she really laid into it, like this echoed throughout this clearing. And then. - This is kind of a pop out, 'cause Jason's mean. - Maybe you scared them away. - 'Cause there's not enough tea. - After a few seconds, you hear another howl, and it's much, much closer than the one you heard a few minutes previous.
- She's doing it again. - I was gonna say, at this point, Rekis has pulled his hammer, his war hammer out. (laughing) - Maybe howling wasn't the best idea, 'cause we're gonna get more attention, so more werewolves will come. - I mean, once we start fighting, they're gonna come anyways. - Yeah, we're screwed. - Those werewolves are gonna come here, the other wolves getting hurt, and they're gonna come running. - Well, you guys are defeatists. Group two is so defeatist. - Hey, I haven't said anything yet. I think we're gonna kill all of them, and. - You described them as the Hulk, okay?
(laughing) - After a few seconds, you hear the thundering of these things coming from the treeline. And what it sounds like is a great many wild beasts flinging themselves at you as hard and fast as they can. They're running on all fours, they're tearing ass through this treeline, much more graceful and nimble than they should. - Well, it was nice playing with you all. (laughing) At that moment, it was just face palms. - You're hearing the snapping of branches as they're gonna get ready and burst through the treeline. Let me go ahead and put some werewolves on the board.
- If you put more than three, so help me God. (laughing) - All right, you're pushing it. - Oh, that's a nice number. - All right, one at a time. - There's, oh, okay. - Oh, okay, you're really ugly. - It's Old Fangtooth. - Oh, oh. - You just named that thing, congratulations. Old Fangtooth. - Oh, he has a name. - It's Fred Jr. - No. (laughing) - Everyone roll initiative. - No, mine says mine is what he rolled. - Yeah, mine's what he rolled too. - Ditto. - Oh, hold on. - Reset the initiative tracker DM. - If I don't roll initiative, then that means the battle can't begin.
- That's true. Well, the battle can begin. We'll just wait for you to enter. You won't be in combat until you. - Okay. - We'll just exist in purgatory staring these guys down for all eternity. Seven, really? - I didn't mind registering. - You got a 27. - Yep. - Damn. - I'm gonna say that 'cause I got a 14. - And Berenith got a seven. And time for werewolves. Werewolf number one rolls a 16. Werewolf number two rolls a 12. Werewolf number three rolls a 20. Four rolls a nine. Five rolls a 25. And Trevor rolls a 19. So let's sort. Okay. - I guess I better hit him hard. - Yep.
Dagon, go right ahead. - If you have anything ranged, I would use that as a backup. - You're throwing your big, wasty thingies. - Thunderous exit. Standard action, close purse. Three. No, I can't do that. It's the ranged one. Oh, that's one creature. I guess I can move. And then, yeah, 'cause I can teleport at the end. - I was gonna say, I would definitely try to get behind people. - And then, let me see here. Three. - What are you doing? Don't get so close. - It's okay, I get to teleport. I get to teleport at the end of this attack. Right, standard action, close purse to three.
So I have to attack each one, is that correct? - That is correct. - And that is four, Trevor, five, and three. - Four Trevor. - Yep. - And one. - So press three, you said? - Yep. - One, two. - Damn. - So one, three, five, four. Yeah, one, three, five, four, and Trevor. - Please hit all of them. (laughing) - Missed one. - Damn. - Missed three. Hit five. - Damn. - That's a crit on five, that's a crit. - What? - Miss Trevor. - Damn it. - And hit four. - Okay. - How far back can you teleport? - Five. So five D eight plus eight. - Five D eight plus eight, hold on a second, 'cause that's-- - Five would have been 48.
- 48. - Here we go. Okay, anything else? - Well, actually the other ones get half damage. - Oh, it's half damage and a miss? Okay, cool. - Which would have been, I guess, 13. - 13, yep. - And now I can see teleport five squares. And I'm done. - Okay, as you hit these things with your attack, they all kind of reflexively back down. They kind of bounded into this clearing. Everyone except for Trevor is on all fours. He kind of stands up on his hind legs. Trevor is easily over eight feet tall. He is massive in size. The rest of these werewolves are very intimidating, don't get me wrong, but he is clearly the alpha male, the pack leader.
And after the attack, and you kind of teleport back, Trevor is going to give this real guttural growl and then get down on all fours. Werewolf number five. Let's see. Oh man. - You're my shield, Rikas. - Yeah, I get that a lot now. - I am your shield, yeah. (laughing) - Werewolf number five is going to catapult himself towards Rikas. And these things are impressively fast. In the time it takes, it's only a second or two that it takes him to get from the end of this field over to Rikas. And then he is going to pounce at him at the last second. 24, that'll hit.
Rikas is knocked prone. - Ow. - And 22 damage. - Rude. - Next up is werewolf number three. Werewolf number three is going to bound over to Rikas. And he is going to kind of raise his claws up into the air. And they are going to effectively try to start eating Rikas. The way werewolves work is they kind of pick a target and then tear them to shreds. So claws attack to Rikas plus two, because he's on the ground. That is a miss. Trevor's turn. Oh man. Oh no. - There's a-- - Hey guys, I'm not thinking this was a bad idea. - Yeah, hey, there's room right there. No, you're gonna go right there, so.
- Trevor is going to make his way right here. - Okay. God, he's going for me. - And he gets to, let's see, he can make two claw attacks. You can see that this, like, Trevor McBride's hands as a werewolf are massive, along with the rest of him. And if you weren't pants shittingly terrified right now, you'd probably think back to the bar and the large gashes along the walls. Let's make a claws attack. That's gonna hit. And let's make another claws attack. That's gonna miss. So first one, 26 damage. - Okay, so I make some mistakes in my life, guys. - Corey, your turn.
- Oh God, okay. (laughing) - I am going to... - The crit hit was on three or five. - That was on five. - Five. - Can I attack five or do I have to go around to get to him? 'Cause three. - You have to go around to get to him. - All right, I guess I'm doing that then. Boom. - Wait, if you disengage, you're gonna take an opportunity attack. You have to shift one, that's all you can really do. - All right then, I'm attacking three. - And remember, you can't do that with a ranged attack or you'll take an opportunity attack. - Son of a bitch. - But you can shift back one.
You can shift back one. - Okay, I'm gonna move back here. - I was confused, I was like, wait, if three is engaged with me, can't she move around him? - Nope. - Okay. - That's dumb. - It's okay. - Okay, well, I was gonna do this really cool thing to five and I can't do that now. So, guardian harrier against three. - That's a hit. - Boom. - Yes. - Nine damage. - It's all right. - It's all right. - Respectable. - Anything else, ma'am? - No, that's gonna be it for now. - Okay, let's see here, werewolf number one is going to bound across the field. - Son of a bitch. - Seeing that his brothers have knocked down easy prey, he is going to try and claw at it.
Just essentially trying to tear your armor off your body. Oh, wait, sorry, 15. Oh, that's crit one, nope. - Yep, suck it. - Broke his cape. Trixie, your turn. - Okay, I'm kind of like stuck. So I guess I'm gonna move a little bit to like... - You've got ranged now, right? - Yeah, but should I go after Trevor or should I go after three? - If it happens. - I'm thinking about Trevor. - If it helps, I was gonna go after Trevor. Even though, well. - Like they're flanking Rikas, so. - I did just have this thought. I could try to hit one, two and three. - Okay, sorry, I'm not quick today.
- You're good. - I thought I had something that was like a ranged attack, but it wasn't just ranged attack. - Well, you're more of a melee character. - Yeah. - So the focus is gonna be on Trevor then? Is that what? - I would assume if they're like a regular pack, you go after their leader, they're gonna back down a little bit. But then again in the past, that has not really been the case. - Yeah, Fred. - It worked for us, so. - All right, so I'm gonna just do my range basic attack against Trevor. - I'm afraid that it actually works. Okay, and I miss. - That's gonna miss.
- Yeah, that's how that happened. - Damn, that's a plus 17 you're rolling with too, shit. - Don't rub it in. - Sorry. Anything else, ma'am? - I did have one question. So I have daggers, right? - Yes, short blades I believe. - So what is my sacrificial weapon? - I don't know. - I don't have my daggers or my crossbow in my, well, I don't have anything that goes with it. Like usually in the bottom, like where it says all the black stuff. Like I thought it would be down there, but it's not. But I do have a sacrificial weapon. - Oh, that's what, okay, that's what your weapon is.
That's the type of dagger that you have. - Oh. - Yeah. - Okay, so if I hit with it, I can choose to do a daily. - As a daily, yeah, you can, yeah, like it's, yeah. So anytime you hit with that, you can spend the daily that's associated with that weapon. It's an extra spell you get. Use this power when you hit with the weapon, spend a healing surge, and instead of forgetting hit points, you cause the target to become weakened until the end of your turn. - Okay, I'll just keep that in my pocket. - There you go. Anything else? - No. - Okay, Riek is your turn. - Okay, I'm gonna attack Trevor with word of- - Well, you should stand up first.
- I'm gonna stand up and then attack Trevor with word of Bifold on my- - Okay, that'll hit. - And then let me read one of these runes. I'm gonna do ruin of protection, which, until the end of your next turn, the target takes a minus five penalty to attack rolls against your allies who aren't adjacent to you. Well, wait, I never know, 'cause... No, I'm gonna do ruin of destruction until the end of your next turn. The first time any of your allies hits the target, the target makes a melee basic attack. It's a free action against an enemy of your choice.
So I'll make him attack his brothers. 22 damage. - 22 damage. All right, anything else? - I pray I don't die, but nope, I'm good. - Werewolf number two, what is their movement speed? Oh, eight. Okay, cool, that's plenty of room. We're good. - God. - He's gonna race up to Riekus. - Oh, Riekus. They knew this was your idea. - He is going to pounce at Riekus to try and knock him back down. That is a hit. And 20 damage, that'll knock Riekus out. Werewolf number four. - There's not enough room for you at the party. - Oh, there is. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight.
- Oh my God, I'm not talking anymore. - Just enough spaces to squeeze in and try and get him some. Now that Riekus is down and completely vulnerable, this werewolf is going to just try and bite and tear at his flesh. - Bye guys. - There's no interrupt or anything. - If you have a spell that interrupts. - I don't. - Everything I have. - Oh, I do. - What do you got? - Um, um, um, um. - I was gonna say everything I have, I would have to be conscious to do. I just keep forgetting to use it. - Yes, okay. Immediate real action. Close first three. Creature within five squares of you, or three squares of you drops to zero hit points.
Targets each enemy in the first. Wisdom versus fortude. Um, yeah, okay. Here we go. - That gets all of them. - Yep. - Wait a sec, wait a sec, wait a sec. Hold on a second. I just want to make sure something, so that's a, uh, what power is this? - This is death surge. - Death surge, death surge. There we go. Okay, so that was before he moved. So that won't target him. Target a creature within, okay, so that is, that, that, uh, Ricus is a creature. Each enemy in the burst. Okay, so, uh, so everyone but four. - Everyone but four, okay. - Yeah, 'cause four wasn't there yet.
- Okay. Uh, oh, and I miss. - Miss Trevor. - Hit two. - Wait, I hit two. - Hit five. - Uh, hit one. - There you go. - Boom, baby. Let's go. - And miss three. - But I missed him, okay. - So one, yeah, one, two, and five are hit. - Okay, so, one D8 plus seven. - Uh, 13 damage, awesome. - All right. - Hey, we bloodied five. - Very nice. Five is bloodied. Uh, so let's finish up that bite attack on Ricus. Let's see what kind of damage we're doing here. - No. - 30, oh. That will almost. - Died. - That will almost kill Ricus outright. A couple more hit points and he would have been dead.
Granith, your turn. - Hi, okay. Moving here, we're gonna use, uh, Flame Strike. Flame Strike is standard action area versus two within 10 squares. So I'm gonna land it wherever it's gonna hit all of them. I'll put right on Ricus. Um, targets each enemy in the burst. Wizard versus reflex. And I'm gonna try to hit all of you. - Miss Trevor. - Damn. - Miss two. - Damn, they got good reflex. - They're werewolves. Miss five. - Oh, geez. Come on, guys, my day. - See, I totally had to move that targeted reflex and I totally voted against it. - I did describe them as painfully fast.
- Yes. - They'll miss three and that'll hit four. So one and four. - Okay, so, miss is half damage, but full damage will be two D to end plus seven. - 20. - Okay, so they take 20. The rest of them will take 10. The ones that I hit, so who did I hit again? One and three? - One and four. - One and four. Okay, so one and four are gonna take an ongoing 10 fire damage and save ends. - One and 10 fire damage, save ends, okay. All right, anything else? - Yeah, minor action. Bastion of health, or maybe that's not a good choice. Healing word. Let's see. Healing surge and two D six plus five.
Okay, so we're gonna do healing word on Rhes. - Okay. - Nine plus healing surge for Rhes. - You're gonna do that, sir? I'll get it. - And I'm gonna shift back one. - All right, so Rhes is still prone, but up to 25 health. - All right. - And you're gonna shift back one, okay. - Okay, I'm done. - At the end of the round, you guys are noticing where their wounds, their little burn marks and things like that are starting to heal over ever so slightly. So these regular werewolves are gonna regen 10 health. And Trevor is gonna regen 20. - Good God. Have we even hit him for 20?
- I don't think so. - He's been the target of like every attack. Dagon, your turn. - Unfortunately I have to charge. - Yes you do. - That is my worst charge roll yet. - Is there any way you could move? - Get out of the way. - He has to charge, that's the only thing he can do. So go ahead and roll a flat D 20. Oh, you did, it's a two. - I did, I got a two. So that's what. - You get a plus five on your next. - Yeah, okay. All right, werewolf number five is going to, let's see here. He is going to try and, okay, well, Rekis is already down so there's no reason to pounce him.
He's going to claw at Rekis. Plus two 'cause he's down. That is a hit. 16 damage. Werewolf number three is, okay, yeah. He is going to, he's going to lean in and bite at Rekis. - Uh oh. - Oh, that's going to miss. Both bites have. - Yeah. - Oh no, the one bite, Rekis has been bitten by one of them, already four actually. And Trevor, let's see here. Trevor is going to lean back after being hit by Baranath. Trevor is going to stand up on his hind legs. And he is going to raise his head to the sky and give this savage howl like it's loud and just terrifying. And as a close burst 10, each ally in the burst gained 15 temporary hit points.
In addition, each ally that has a bite attack makes a bite attack as a free action. - God damn it. - Jesus. He is just basically given the kill order. - Wow. Do we have anything? If Trixie does the growl again, we can. Nothing? - Well, let's see. - I have two immediate reactions that when two of them go to attack me, that could do something. I don't even know what they're going to do at this point, but. - They're going to try and, the lesser werewolves around him are going to try and bite him. So let's, okay, let's resolve that first. So these and Trevor can take the rest of his turn.
Let's see, bite. Here we go, running down the line. Number two is going to try and bite. That'll miss. Number five is going to try and bite Rikas. And that will hit. - Almost a crit. - 17 damage, Rikas is knocked out. - Well, damn. - Oh, did you want to, yeah. - I was just going to pop Champion's Armor, which gives me temp hit points equal to that. But I guess since I'm knocked out, that really doesn't do anything. - Is it immediate? - It's immediate reaction daily. - So then you would have gotten hit. What's the temporary hit points equal to what? - It's equal to the attack damage until the end of my next turn.
But since I'm knocked out, I think we've had this discussion before, but it really does. - Well, an immediate, immediate is immediate. So before the damage would be done, you'd gain temp hit points. But it's equal to the attack. - The damage you take until the end of your next turn, yeah. So I would get 17 temp, I guess. - Yeah, so you'd still be conscious. - Yeah. - Okay, so yeah, dude, take the fucking advantage. Your options are get murdered or if we take those hit points. - Well, I have a feeling I might get murdered in the long run, but I'll take the temp hit points right now.
- Okay, so you are, let's see here. You are, put you back up to, so you're up to nine hit points. Okay, number one is going to try and bite you. So they all, to describe the scene, Trevor just leans up howls and they all descend upon Ricus. That is a crit one, that's gonna miss. Number three is gonna try and bite Ricus. That is a hit, 26. You said you had another immediate interrupt? - This one wouldn't add anything, but it would just use this power when a melee attack hits you, the attacker is knocked prone. - That doesn't negate damage, I believe. - It's just gonna knock him prone.
- All right. Okay, you are knocked out and he is knocked prone. - It's my Captain America shield. - Yeah, number four is going to try and bite Ricus. That is a hit. - Pretty sure that killed me. - Yeah. - Oh, fuck. - Ricus has just been mauled to death by werewolves and Trevor is going to finish the rest of his turn. That was a minor action. He is going to use Speed of the Wolf and he can shift up to his speed, but he is going to shift right here next to Baranath and Trixie and use Pounce and Claw. And he is attempting to, he's gonna use this on Baranath. He's going to try and knock her prone and then claw at her.
That is a crit. - Oh, man. - That is 50 damage. - All right. - Well, this is going down. - Corey, your turn. This is going bad. - Yes, it is. I'm going to use Tremor Shot and number three takes four damage because he didn't move at the end of his last turn. - Okay. - Tremor Shot. - I guess he can't run. Go ahead. - Would we be able to run, Jason? - Of course you can run. - Yeah, you can run. - Not easily, but 'cause he'd still get opportunity attacks and all that, but. - And I feel like they would chase us. - I hate to put it this way. Again, they're pack animals and while they're descending on someone, I mean, like they've, like Ricus is dead and they'll be eating him and it appears as though Baranath may be next unless you can save her.
And then like you could run while they're kind of eating Ricus. I mean, that's an incredibly gruesome way to put it, but I mean, that's the only thing that would give you an advantage. It's not like you picked the fight and then started running. You know what I mean? They got what they wanted. - Out of game, what are we thinking? - 'Cause I have all my attacks ready to go, but. - You guys need to get out of there. - Yeah, this is a good sentence. - Honestly, they're gonna pick each one of us off one by one and the entire group will be dead unless you guys leave.
- I hate running. - Okay, I'm gonna take my turns. I'm gonna do tremor shot, which is going to break up the earth underneath them if it hits and it's versus number three. So the secondary target, each enemy in the burst other than the primary target. So it will hit one, four, and I believe five. - Yep. - Okay, hits. - That hits three. So go ahead and roll on one, four and five, two. That'll hit one. That'll miss four. - And that hits five. - That'll hit five, all right, awesome. So one, four, one, three and five. - 16 damage. - And I slide the secondary target one square and it grants combat advantage until the end of my next turn.
- Oh, wait, wait, wait, hold on a second. - Okay. - Let me check something. That was tremor shot? - Yes. - I don't think that's everybody in the burst and I think you make a, there's one target and a secondary target. - Okay. - Make a secondary attack that is an area centered on the primary target of the day. Each enemy, oh no, okay. So you can, oh, okay, so you just get to move, you get to move one and five, yeah. You're right, I'm an asshole. - So I'm gonna move them away. - Okay. Away is good. - Away is good and then. - Did it say they were not prone? - I don't believe it says that, no.
- No, okay, just okay. - Just, yeah, combat advantage, that's plus two, right? - Yes. - Until the end of my next turn. - I can't decide, if I were to save my action point, could I use it for another movement if we do decide to run? - Yes. - Okay, then I'm not gonna use my action point. - Okay. - End turn. - Werewolf number one. So, werewolf number one was feasting on Rika's and you kind of pulled him away from that and snapped him out of it. So there's this moment where you can kind of see where he's like, he's down on all fours, it shakes him back, he's down on all fours and kind of grabs the ground with his claws and pulls himself to a stop.
And then he's looking around and sees where Trevor's knocked down more easy prey and he is going to get ready and race over to where Baranath is and try and claw at Baranath. That'll miss. - Oof. - Trixie, your turn. - All right, so I'm gonna do blinding barrage. It says target each enemy you can see in the blast as an action close blast three. Dexterity versus AC. And then it says hit dexterity modifier damage and the target is blinded until the end of your next turn. If I miss dexterity modifier damage. So I guess I'm targeting Trevor one and four. Or can I hit three?
Hold on a second, let me read that again. What power? - Blinding barrage. - Blinding barrage. Each enemy you can see in the blast, you have to move, like you'd have to shift. Like it's like, 'cause it's line of sight. So like you're flicking daggers at them essentially. - So what I, if I move like. - Crossbow bolts. - If I move like right here, who would I be able to hit? - You'd be able to hit, you'd see Trevor and four. And three, yeah. - But I wouldn't see one? - One, two, yeah, sorry. - Okay, so then I will shift up one. And pray this works. It says choose targets and then roll each individually.
So I'll go for Trevor first. - Makes sense. - Hit. - That'll hit. - Then one, hit. - That'll hit. - And then four, miss. - That'll miss. - Three, hit. - That'll hit. So you have three of them, three out of four is great. - So damage is six. And what does it mean dexterity modifier damage? - Oh, it's already in the math. - Oh, okay. - Yeah, that's already in the math. Oh wait, plus dexterity, oh wait. Oh no, that is that your dexterity is six and the target is blind. So, okay, so, oh wow. - Trevor one, four and three, or Trevor one and three are blind and they have six damage.
- Yep. - Okay. - Gorgeous. That could be the thing to help you get out of here maybe. - If they're blind, do we take opportunity attacks? - They take a swing, but they take a negative five to whatever swing they're taking at you. - Okay. - So it's a pretty significant, yeah. Werewolf number two. Oh boy, one, two, three, werewolf number two is going to sidle up right in here and he is going to try and bite at Baranath. That'll miss. Look at that luck, geez. Number four. - Where am I hiding the horseshoe? - Number four is not blind. So he's gonna shift over one and he's gonna try and bite Baranath as well.
That's a hit. - Oh boy. - 27 damage will knock Baranath out. - All right. - Baranath, your turn. Go ahead and make a death saving throw, please. - Okay, so hang on, I'm trying to see if I got any bonuses. - Everyone else gets a bonus for their death saving throws. - Yeah, I'm not wearing the right armor, so I think it's just a flat D20. Sorry, I'm trying to roll. Oh, the first one. Wait, that was a D12. - Yeah, it is a D12. - Sorry. I'm sorry, placenta brain. - Say, those are all low rolls. Oh wow. - Yeah, and we're not doing much better, okay. - Oh man, another round ends.
They're gonna regen health. - Okay. - That is an excellent question. 10 for each of the regular werewolves settled, and then 20 for Trevor. Dagon, your turn. - Does anyone have a suggestion? - Please pick up Rinkus and run. - Well, okay, one and Trevor are blind, right? Dagon, you can try to shift past one. - Well, I can tell. - Yeah, Dagon can teleport. He has like eight different ways to teleport. - Then why don't you just teleport out of there with Rinkus? - See, my thing is, I honestly think we should run, but I don't wanna leave Rinkus's body here to be feasted upon, and I don't know how we're gonna do that.
That's just my personal opinion. - I just don't really wanna leave anyone behind. - Pick him up and run. - Well, it's not as simple as like, flick him over your shoulder. There's an athletics check to be made. There's, it's gonna, yeah. - And I don't think I could teleport with him on my shoulder. - No. - Are we deciding that we're running though? Is that the... - As soon as we can get everyone clear enough to do so. - 'Cause I can also-- - That's why I was trying to blind them in hopes it'll make it easier for us to get out. - I don't, I don't, I don't see how I can carry him.
I'm surrounded. Unless we go down in a blaze of glory. - Pragmatically, your options right now are leave or fight. Like, those are your two options. - As much as I hate to say it, I can't, I know we wanna take Ricus with us, but if that's gonna cost us our lives, it's not gonna be worth it. We might just have to run. - Would they, I don't know if you can tell, tell us this, Jason, but would they be preoccupied, preoccupied with eating to chase us? - Yes. - Okay. - That's the, that's, they'll, they'll be eating if you, yeah. - Okay, what about Barana? Can anyone help her?
- I don't have any healing stuff. - I mean, can one of us make like a minor action and pour a potion on her face? I mean, like, I don't know, there's nothing that we can do. - Yeah, you can, you can do that. - I keep in mind that that's gonna prevent you from killing or hitting anything. - Well, it's a minor action. - I can, - Oh, okay. - The guy wasn't really planning on punching anything. - Why not? - Just gonna get back at it. (laughs) Well, I don't, I just don't, I don't know if it's gonna help, that's all. These guys are all almost back up to four. - I used my shift power already.
I can't get them away from her. I don't have anything else. - I think the only one worth attacking is Trevor. 'Cause he's sort of controlling everything. What will a potion give Brandon? - 10 hit points. - I can't give her two then. - No. - Someone else will have to give her a second. I don't, I don't know. I don't think it's worth me attacking anybody unless someone sees something else. - Like the only, the only like logical recourse I see here is to get the fuck out. - Yeah. - That's just me. - Okay. Well, I guess as a miner, I'll give Brandon one of the potions and I will use face step and teleport.
- How many spaces they give you? - Five squares. - So that would essentially remove you from the battlefield. - Yeah. - Okay. - Do it. - Is everybody following? - I can. - Are we screaming run? - I think we all kind of know it. - This is definitely a thing. - As to what we're doing. - Yeah. - This is a collective intelligence right now. - Yeah. I just, yeah. I wish everyone luck in getting out of there. - All right. So Dagon is removed from battle. Werewolf number five is going to shimmy up here next to Baranath. It's going to run past Rikas's body. - Is he still taking his ongoing fire damage?
- He absolutely is. The problem is he's regening exactly that much damage each turn. - Yeah. That asshole. - He is going to try and bite Baranath. That'll miss. Two. So yeah, he's still taking that damage. And let's see, werewolf number three, who is blind is just going to operate by sound and try and bite at Baranath. But that'll be a pretty big negative. Yeah. That's a super miss. Okay. And Trevor, who is also blind. Just a regular bite. That'll miss. Oh, I got to roll saving throws for those two. First number three, that's a 13. So he saves. And then Trevor, that's a two.
He doesn't save. So three is no longer blind. Corey, your turn. - Okay. I am going to follow suit. Can I go through this little tree? - You, yeah, you can do that. - Okay. I don't know if I need to do this. Okay. I get to make an opportunity attack against you real quick, real quick with my claws. - Rawr. - That'll hit. - So should I move back? - No, no, 17. You just took 17 damage on the way past. - Okay. - So this werewolf is going to kind of spin around and like get one good swipe at you as you move past it. And then they're going to move back to try and eat Baranath.
Oh man. Werewolf number one is going to try and bite at Baranath. That's going to miss. Saving roll is a four. So he's still blind. Trixie, your turn. - All right. I have something called great leap. Says move action. Personally, you make an athletics check to jump. You are considered to have a running start and the distance of the jump isn't limited by your speed. - So you're trying to leap out of there. - Yeah, pretty much. I don't really have anything else. - Well, you're not making an attack against anything, I believe, but it, or is it just, is it just an acrobatics thing?
- It just says move action, personally, make an athletics check. - Oh, move action. Okay, yeah. Okay, so go ahead and make an athletics check. - I mean, can I attack something and then try it? Okay, so I will do the blinding barrage, not blinding barrage, Crimson Edge on Trevor. I can still attack him, right? - Can I? - Okay. - Sure can. - And it says dexterity versus fortitude, dexterity modifier damage, and the target grants combat advantage to you and takes ongoing damage equal to five plus your strength modifier. If I miss this half damage. Okay. Hit. - That's a hit.
- And then, okay, damage, 14. And then they take an ongoing damage equal to five plus your strength modifier. - Which is, let's see, what is your strength modifier? - 16? Three. I don't know. - Three, yeah. - Three? - Three is your modifier. - So they have an ongoing eight damage. - Yep, awesome. - And then I am going to try to jump the hell out of there. So I have to do an athletics check? - Yeah. - 15. - Okay, that is not gonna do it. - Okay. - Without, yeah, okay. So these two are gonna make opportunity attacks against you. - For jumping? - Well, you'll get the jump, but they're still gonna attack you.
- Do I jump away or do I just jump in place? - Yeah, you're jumping, well, you're gonna jump away. I don't think you were doing jumping jacks to-- (laughs) - I don't know how that one works. - Yeah. So they're gonna make some claws attacks against you real quick. - Oh. - Okay, and that'll hit, and that'll hit. So let's do damage. Okay, so 15 damage, and the other damage. 19 damage, so you're bloodied, but you're effectively off the battlefield now. Oh man, werewolf number two is going to try and bite at Baranath. That is gonna miss. Werewolf number four is gonna do the same that everyone's missed so far.
That is a hit. - Oh boy. - 27 damage, and that's gonna knock Baranath back out. Baranath, your turn. - And it's time for a death save. And fail. - That is a six. Everyone has left the battlefield, haven't they? So that would mean that the last thing that Trixie would see leaving this clearing would be these werewolves descending upon Baranath. There's no one left to save her, so they would essentially rip her to shreds. So that's gruesome. - Can we just run back in and die with her? - It's, you, you, you've. - If you feel it necessary. - This is super shitty.
(sighs) I would imagine the rest of you are, that I imagine the rest of you are pretty much just running back through this, back through the path, just double timing it as quickly as possible to get away from these things. I would say that that's a pretty good time for us to stop for the evening. - I am really sorry, Brian and Alanna. - Well, I mean, I told Rikas that I was gonna stay by his side. - We tried. I don't know if there's a way to win this fight. - There's always a way to win the fight. - That doesn't-- - That was the regeneration, man. - I would never put you guys in an unwinnable situation.
- Can you later explain to us how that was winnable? - I have no words. - So this is bleak. - This is, yeah, that is pretty devastating. - Sucks, yeah. - Well, I hate to do this, but I kinda gotta jump off and I'm gonna hit you guys up a little later in the week. But yeah, I thank you all for sitting down. I'm sorry things turned out the way they did. - Yeah, I think we need to come up with some sort of better strategy for these fights or something. - Yeah, all right, I'll talk to you guys a little later. I hope you all have a good night. - Bye guys. - See you later.
