About $5,000. Somewhere in there.
And everyone had an absolute blast participating and everyone in the chat seemed to really like it. So that may be a thing we do yearly. If you'd like us to do it yearly hit us up on Twitter @D&RPodcast. That's D-A-N-D-R Podcast. Or you could send us an email. Let us know what you think. At dnrpodcast.gmail.com. That's d-a-n-d-rpodcast@gmail.com. Let us know what you thought of it. Let us know what you'd like us to change. If there was something you thought could be improved. Whatever. It was our first one and I think it went fantastic. I want to thank Jamie one more time for hosting the damn thing all day and sticking with it.
I want to thank everyone who helped plan it and specifically with the Kickstarter. I want to talk about that just really quickly. We hit our goal during the course of this episode during Theriathon. We talked a bit about it and I want to keep the moment it happened in the show. It kind of derails the roleplay for a few minutes. Just stick with it. It's one of those things where if you missed the moment live it was a really cool thing. I'm glad we could share that with every one of you. Without further ado I'm going to get ready and get out of your way and let you get to this episode.
Thank you very much for everyone who participated. Thank you very much for everyone who donated. We'll see you next year at Theriathon. Hello everybody. This is Scott aka Marcus. It's been a while since I've done one of these but thank you for listening. We would like to thank you for also showing up live for the Theriathon. Our big push to attempt to hit our goal on our Kickstarter. Which if you haven't visited please go out and take a look at it. We're getting really close right now and by the time you hear this hopefully we've made it. We're only about a thousand dollars short.
If you enjoy the show please donate. We would love to have more backers than what we have right now. Even though we're the ones we have we love. Take a look at us on our Facebook page. We post lots of neat things there. Find all of our character Twitter accounts there as well. And on with the show. Let's do the thing we go around the table and introduce ourselves. I'm Jason I'm the Dungeon Master. Going around the table starting with Kat. Hi I'm Kat Charlie and I play Phee the Changeling Firth. And Mack. Hi I'm Mack and I play Kaluna Vulgaris the Wildling Shaman.
And Izzy. Hey I'm Izzy and I play Una the Half-Elf Paladin. And Bree. Hi my name is Brianna and I play Jadzia Grace the Human Warlock. And Jasper. Hey I'm Jasper I play Marek Ethelred Human Cleric with a Glorious Mustache. Last and certainly not least joining us in the call today is Scott. Hello everybody I am Scott I play Commander Marcus Santa Human Cleric. Can you feel that in the call guys? It's palpable. Human corpse. So let's recap quickly what happened last time on the show. Last time we all got a chance to sit down. Jadzia finally got to perform the blood magic ritual she'd been preparing for for a little bit.
And they successfully transferred Ironhide's soul into a new body. The body of the half-orc named Nyark. After which Ironhide pretty much cut and run. That very night he left and totally bailed. We also had Bree and Una hash some things out. It looked like Una was going to beat the living shit out of her but it turned out not to be the case. We also had Valus take a bit of damage on Jadzia's behalf during the blood ritual. The blood magic ritual. So he was in a bit of pain but thankfully you guys got a lot of healers in your group. So everything worked out that way.
That pretty much catches us up to date except for one little thing. And that is Craig Mason told you that if you gave him some time he could get you in a room with Marcus Santa. Yes. You are not exactly sure how he's going to do that but that is what he promised. So how about we pick up with the party. Kind of getting back to the house. You pretty much have the day to yourself. You're kind of waiting on word from Craig. There's not much you can do. Una is still weakened, still half health. So is there anything you guys would like to discuss with each other?
Anything you'd like to do before we really get rolling? Can I go get tats? Sure. Just to commemorate something or just to... Yeah. I have a new tattoo that I want. Okay. Yeah. Sure. We can do that. You know you have no money. Una will go with her and pay. Oh cool. Okay. I can intimidate but that works too. Okay. We can totally do that. On the edge of Esterholt, on the west end, which actually has a lot of kind of posher retail establishments. There's actually quite a few nice places to go shopping on the west end. There is a little tattoo shop called the Crouching Tiger.
Where's the hidden dragon? Ah. I just wait for the heckle now when I say so. I'm sorry. Just Crouching Tiger. Well the reason it's called the Crouching Tiger is that the woman who is the proprietor specializes in magic tattoos. These are tattoos that do something as banal as just move. You can have her paint a scene or portrait and the thing will reenact something over and over again. There are something called living tattoos which are like one of the ones she's most famous for, one of her first ones was this big back portrait of a tiger crouching in the grass.
When someone is attacking the tiger would spring into action and kind of leave. She does big pieces like that. So it's just you and Kaluna I guess? Anybody else want something? We'll go along. He's actually intrigued by your tattoos. Cool beans. Okay. So do me a favor, roll a perception check walking into this little tattoo parlor. Perception. 28. Holy shit, 32. Jesus. Wow. Wow, you all rolled really well. Super fucking alert. Yeah, we know tattoo parlors. That's the thing. You guys walked in on high alert like you're back to back I imagine. So yeah, this is a pretty... now most tattoo parlors are, in Theria anyway, you'll find a lot of run down holes.
Anybody who can... now there are people who just give regular ass tattoos like to commemorate something or a lot of people get one to mourn a lost loved one or something like that. That happens a bunch. But this woman's shop is really nice. Like really nice. Like it's very well furnished and decorated. This woman makes some bank, you're guessing. And at the end of the... she seems to work alone. So the other end of the shop there's a woman covered in her own tattoos that all appear to be moving. That's awesome. And the other end of the shop are reenacting a different scene and they're like very vocal.
It almost looks like her skin is crawling. That's so fucking cool. And she's... there's this little bell that hangs above the door that chimes when you walk in. And she's gonna kind of lift her head up and start walking over towards the group. Can I help you guys with anything? Yeah, I'm here to get some work done. Oh, and she sticks her hand out. My name's Ellie. I'll shake... Hey! That's so cool! For those of you who don't know, Ellie was the tattoo artist who did Jason and my tattoos in Portland. That is very cool. Awesome. A little nod to Ellie in Portland.
Uno se. My name's Una. These are my friends Kaluna and Merrick. Kaluna will wait. Merrick extends his hand. Nice to meet you, Ellie. Ellie's gonna lean in and shake Merrick's hand real quick and just kind of wave at Kaluna. Was there anything special you wanted to get done? I just got a promotion and I'd like to get that commemorated. Oh, well congratulations. Where do you work? For the gods. And she's just gonna go wide-eyed for a second. Oh! I'm guessing Kord. Yeah, you'd be right. The tattoos kind of give it away. So, what Uno would like... Because I have the tattoos of Kord's symbol on the backs of my hands.
But I'd like Fist of Kord on my knuckles. And I know that there's only eight spaces and there's ten letters. So the O and the F can go on thumbs. Yeah, we could do that. Do you want it to do anything special or just a straight tattoo? Can't think of anything cool that letters would do. Yeah. Do your friends want anything? Merrick's gonna sort of back away. I'm just with her just to help out. Nothing for me at the moment. I've been taken aback. Ooh, can I get those letters to drip blood? Yes, you actually can. Thank you, Bree. You're welcome. Kaluna will kind of look at her arm and then look at Una and just kind of be like, "I don't know if it'll work." Forget Pearson.
Just ram a nail through her ear. They just drill it? Maybe she has a wood burning thing, like a tool. Oh, that'd be cool. Scarf. Okay. Ellie's gonna look at Merrick. You have a glorious mustache. Merrick will sort of twirl the ends of it with his fingertips and sort of smile a little bit coyly. Thank you very much. It's been many years in the making. I appreciate that. She's gonna kind of nod her head like, "All right, right on. Okay." Kaluna's gonna elbow him like, "Hey!" Making friends. Ah, well, if you want to step right over here, I can get started. Cool. I'll follow her.
Okay, while this is going on, let's catch up with the rest of the party in the house. So what would Fee be doing right about now? Fee would be looking around the house, frustrated that there is something that he cannot find there. He's still looking. Okay, do me a favor. Roll a Dungeoneering check. Fourteen. Oh, that's terrible. Good. Stop looking for my shit. I kind of hope he finds it. I want to see what he would do. He finds it and then just like instantly seals it back up, squirrels it away. Again, Fee is getting the definite impression that there is something close by that he's just missing.
It's like right there on the tip of his tongue. Like he just can't. It's like right there. But yeah, no, he can't seem to find it. But he's sure there's some kind of secret something hidden in this house. What would Jadzi be doing? I'm gonna go look for my gold. Okay. Do I do Dungeoneering too? I would say this is a Dungeoneering check. I would say this is a Dungeoneering check, yeah. Oh my goodness, I do not have a good plus. He has a plus 12. Wow. Fee, that's not very good. Here we go. Twenty-one. Twenty-one? It is your house after all, see? Twenty-one? It's not high enough, is it?
Jadzia is in the library and... She seems to recall that there was something in the library that Darmok would go to regularly. Like there would be something. Like he would disappear in the library with things and then come back out of the library with nothing. So there's something in the library that's calling to her. So she starts kind of fiddling around with some of the books and... There's one book that kind of stands out after a bit. You wouldn't notice it right away, but it's something that kind of... Like a lot of the books in the library are kind of like black leather bound and really elegant looking.
Everything's kept immaculately there. And then there's this one that kind of has a slight reddish tint to it. And as she grips the book to pull it back, one of the bookcases pops open. And there is a secret passage behind this shelf. So this is actually a secret doorway. Valis is going to come into the room behind her as she's discovering this. So I don't know, how would you like to... Do you want to pry this open and go inside? Do I want to go inside? Well, I guess Judzia would look back at Valis and kind of nod to the door like, "Hey, you want to go check that out?" Valis kind of leans in more curious than anything.
Kind of like, "Okay, if you knew that was there, why didn't we do this earlier? Why didn't we check this shit out?" That's a good question. But it could have been something she just remembered. So he's going to sidle up right next to you and... Yeah, if you're going in, he's going with you. Alright, I will go in and get my gold. I really didn't want for you to find it, thank god. I did that back as soon as Una got back the sword. He just starts springing for things, but he's like, "Oh, I got this one." "You sure? You've sprung the last four times." "That's fine, I got it." Do me a favor, roll a perception check.
Perception check... That's not very good either. We're free. Let's see here... Twenty-three. You're going to start to pry this door back and it's going to give a little resistance. Like, it's this big heavy door. So it's going to give a bit of resistance and Valis is going to try and pry it open with you. There's going to be a smell that hits your nose pretty instantaneously as soon as this door becomes ajar. And it smells like something rotting. The other thing you're going to notice is this is coated in cobwebs. So it either hasn't been used in quite some time or there is a definite spider problem in your house.
So there's kind of a long hallway that goes back in and then it turns immediately to the right. So it's completely blind after about, I'd say after about thirty or forty feet. Like, it just turns and goes right. I guess we'll just keep going. Okay. I know it's not good. It sounds very bad. Yeah, I guess we'll keep going even though we're definitely going to find a body. Okay. Do you want to close the door behind you or do you want to keep it open? I'm going to prop it open now that you ask, yes. Okay. I'm just asking. Can Ballas move one of the bookshelves so that it's...
Yeah, he's going to drag one of these chairs over and just kind of like one of the nice big cushy leather chairs you guys were sitting in. He's going to kind of grab one and just kind of drag it. You hear it scrape across the floor as he drags it. Just kind of like prop it, kind of like boom. Just like prop it right in front of the door so that it's not closing. Damn straight. Just in case. Alright. So this hallway is pitch black. Now Ballas can see, so he would kind of like take the lead, like he would get in front. And he's kind of like swatting these big ass cobwebs away.
Like it's pretty thick actually, so just kind of like taking down these cobwebs as you go. And he's going to slowly pull out the knife that's on the side of his belt and just kind of pull it out. And as you round the corner, that smell gets much more pungent. And it's going... this hallway is going to open up into a room. Do me a favor, roll a perception check. Ten. I think Ballas also has to... He does actually, yes. Whenever it's a good roll I don't even bother saying that. Twenty one. Twenty one, okay. Ballas is going to notice a hell of a lot more than Jadzia did with her ten.
You know what, I'll edit this. Let's take a second and acknowledge the kickstarter really quickly. I just saw them. Nineteen thousand. Three hundred and eighteen dollars with two hundred and forty seven. Two hundred more dollars and you guys got it. Only five hundred more dollars worth. Someone said that they would increase their donation if I cursed at you, Jason. You can curse at me. Well they said cuss out but I don't know how to do that so I'll just say a bunch of mean words. Okay. Fucking cum buckets. I'm cum buckets? Bitch titties. Oh I'm fucking cum buckets.
She's setting the scene. Oh okay, you're painting a picture. Okay take me there. No I'm not. I'm just saying the first thing that comes to mind. Damn dude. Can you tag someone else in? Like can you get a- I don't know. I'm right here, I gotcha. I'm like in the corner bouncing up and down with my fists. Go Izzy go, I believe in you. Ass waffle, shit dick, bitch tits, bitch eyes, bitch hair, bitch beard, no that's mean. Oh beard's too far, come on. Ass liver. Ass liver, okay. Pickle face. Pickle face? I'm slowing down. I feel like you've had enough. Okay, thank you.
I was crying on the inside. Good. All the words you can't say on TV. This room opens up and it appears to be some sort of workshop. Valis is going to kind of like, it looks as though Jadzia is just kind of like staring at the table in the middle of the room. Which is kind of filled with like half filled containers of blood and different body parts. Like we're talking eyes and ears and fingers and things like that. So it looks like this guy has been experimenting with different things for quite some time. What Jadzia doesn't notice is that hung up around the room on meat hooks are various bodies.
We're talking seven bodies of various ages. I don't notice? Well they're kind of hung high. Oh okay, alright. So they're kind of hung up around the room so it's more like you're looking at the table full of like ooky shit and it's like oh wow that's messed up. Does he have to get an attendant to come along with one of those little sticks and take it down for you? Well there's a step ladder. Can I price check that corpse? There's like a little step ladder. He's self reliant. Jeffrey would help if he needed. Valis is just kind of like nudge you and just like look.
He's just going to point because clearly you haven't noticed because this is horrifying and this is not cool. So he wants to show me? It's like when something smells bad and they're like hey hey come smell this. Okay so Jadzia will kind of after he pushes her look up and go pale like as pale as she can get and kind of like take a half step back. But then steal her resolve a little bit and just kind of nod and say well there's some more bodies we have to bury properly. Valis is just kind of assessing the situation and then just kind of like lets out like this sigh just I'll take them down.
And he is going to start like he can kind of grab them by the legs and then just lift up and you hear go ahead. You know what do me a favor roll a perception check. I don't want to. 13. Jadzia is not going to hear the the crackle slash squish sound as these bodies some of which look to only be about two to three days old. Some of them have been here for weeks. One of which is so decrepit and falling apart that it has slid through the meat hook most of the way and now is caught by the neck instead of the base of the spine. The flesh is just like disintegrating like it's it's it's disgusting.
There are also swarms of flies and it's it's it's really disgusting. I was so excited when I found this. Jason can you promise me something? What's that? Can you not look up a sound effect for this room? None. Okay I promise I won't do that. Okay. I had one in mind but I won't do it because you requested it. Just going to punch some mayonnaise or something? I got a foley studio in mind. Okay. Stretch goal. Stretch goal yes. I suppose Jadzia would go over and like try to help. She's clearly not as physically strong as Valis but like once he gets them down then she'll take them and lay them out on the floor so that he can move on to the next one faster.
Okay. We're oh man so you are you are dealing with that. Let's how about we catch up with Marcus? Okay. So as everyone probably knows Marcus has been sent by the king himself on a diplomatic mission to the city of Esterhold. Marcus has been sent to speak specifically with Mayor Christina Keller who runs the cities day to day and is in charge of the guard situation and pretty much the bulk of running this city. Now Marcus is kind of involved in a delicate situation because while the Overwatch doesn't exactly have any sway in the city he's kind of been sent there with a do this or else mentality like he's this is your mission get it done don't fail me.
So you do have a small army that's rolled into town. You have about you know about 500 troops in total. Okay. You do have muscle but at the same time it would probably be best to not try and do like a martial law type of thing. Right. So you would be meeting with with Keller now so I'm going to I'm going to kind of hand it off to you. How would you how would you like to handle the situation? With as soft of gloves as I can. Is she in an office does she have a specific place where she conducts business? Yes she would have a she she has a very plush office actually it's quite sizable.
She kind of stays in this big mansion this is the center the center point in Esterhold. Okay. She has a pretty good open door policy actually where people can come to her with problems and you know so yeah. Okay. I'm going to keep my troops stationed outside. Did my assistant come with me? Yes. Okay because I'm drawing a blank on his name. That would be Thoven Fletcher. Fletcher that's right. Yeah. Okay I'm going to bring him in with me as well so he can stand by the door and just keep an eye out. Okay. Mayor Keller. It's a pleasure to finally meet with you as you may have noticed we brought a large number of troops with us.
Please don't be afraid of that. I'm actually here to help. Overwatch has heard that you have a rather large problem with crime in this town. I'm really sorry to hear that. That is a terrible thing for citizens to have to live through is to be in fear every day of their lives or of their livelihood. Because nobody is helping you out. We would like to help you out. As you probably know Overwatch really doesn't have much crime. We have found that by putting soldiers and informants in areas where there is crime that you can eliminate it if you're willing to do that.
What I would like is permission from you and some direction from you as to where the crime is in your town. And the hope is that by showing the people of Esther Holt what the Overwatch truly is that we're here to protect people and to make sure people are safe from those who are undesirables. That we could potentially eventually bring some people into our fold and have them help us out as well. So Christina is going to look Marcus up and down, kind of assessing him. I've heard about your methods for dealing with crime Mr. Santa. Tell me exactly how many people do you think we'd have to make an example of here in our city?
That would depend on how many it takes to get the point across. If it only takes two or three of the worst of the criminals to point out that maybe there are better places for the other criminals to go, then that's all we would have to do. If it's going to take a while longer, if you have a gang of an organized group of criminals that are running the areas, there may be a few more of them to have to be made an example of. But I don't know the exact extent of the crime in your area, so I really can't give an exact number right now. I would like to keep it to as few as possible.
Well, I fully admit... What? What? What? What happened? We just hit it. 20,000. No fucking shit! Yep. Yay! Holy... Holy shit. All it took was Marcus getting back on the show. Aren't you happy now? Oh my god. Thanks. It's still going up too. I can't believe it! Oh my gosh. I'm gonna cry. Look at this guy! I can't... I don't even have words right now. I'm literally tearing up. I'm so happy. Oh, Jason's crying! Oh my god. Oh my god! It's... and it's going up and up and up. Webcams guys? Webcams? Can't webcam. It jumped 220 bucks while we were sitting here chatting. Just as we announced it.
We fucking made it. Oh my god. I'm gonna say something I can't... I can't talk. You gotta turn your webcam and you gotta give an address. Yes. It's already hard for you and we're making it harder for you. Come on. Come on. Give the people what they want. I'm pretty sure he's literally crying. I'm like 99%. This is a good... I'm shaking. You can move. You now have a career. You don't have to get a job. You can work on what you love to do. Um... Shit. Take a minute. Awwww. It's all just laugh at him. Oh honey. Your cheers will sustain us. I love that people in the chat. Uh, that...
I don't even have fucking words for that. I just don't know what to say. I don't even have fucking words for that. Thank you doesn't really seem to cover it. Seriously, I thought maybe by the end of today we could possibly... get to 20,000 and you guys turned up in force and at 4pm today. We still have 8 hours of streaming at least to do and you guys have already got us up to 20,000. I really... I don't really know what to say. That's fucking... That is really amazing. You... I... You have afforded me a new life. That's... I don't... I can leave... I can leave this state.
I can do this as my profession. I... I... Thank you so, so much. I... I'm indebted to each and every one of you and I don't really know what else to say. Thank you. Can I stop crying like a bitch on webcam now? But next day, boy. But next day, boy. I'm proud of you guys. I... I... I want to thank all you guys for helping out with this too because I... I... I mean not... not just the show obviously but I mean the whole Kickstarter thing like planning it out and executing it and... Theriauthon, the whole thing like I couldn't obviously do that by myself and that means... that means a huge amount.
Thank you so much. The DM twerk is now making through the chat. Jesus. Sockyplod, I don't cry. I'm sorry. This doesn't happen. I see Theriauth brightening up. Yeah, really? I don't think anybody's gonna be complaining about the story being too dark anymore. Like I don't... I don't think that's gonna be a thing. So about this room I'm in right now, can it just be full of bunnies instead of... I just like one bunny. I'm sorry, did I say fetid corpses? I meant pizza party. That's what I meant. I mean, they're corpses. They're corpses but they're actually just really nice pinatas.
It's really a festive thing. So díel de los muertos but for Theriauthon. So you just have little pinatas with dead people. Stuff your corpses full of candy. They're made of sugar. Fun for the whole family. They're made of sugar. Someone was actually a party organizer. Wonderful caterer. He was just misunderstood. He did our wedding. He had one of his personalities. Oh God. I feel like we should maybe post on Facebook about this really quickly. Oh, I already did. Okay, like on the fan page or something. Is your moderator there? You're... What? You're there? Yeah, you got this.
Yeah, thank you. There's still a week to go. I just wanted to say that. I know. Now there's just all these stretch bowls that can happen. Because once people see too that a project has funded, they're more likely to donate. Just saying. That's a thing. Our listeners are the fucking best creatures that exist. I don't even know what to say. Like that's... Amen. I'm so glad we got to do this and share it live with everybody. And the actual moment of hitting the 20. That is just so awesome. Amazing. Honestly. I... Dude. Just a moment of taking everything in. Dude, it's so jarring.
This just became a thing. This is a reality now. That's a thing. That happened. This isn't a what if or maybe that is a thing. That is officially done. I mean... Now guys, we need $3,000 more to get the Tom Rose show. Give me one second. I'll be right back. Just one second. Thanks again, folks. You guys are awesome. Congratulations, everybody. Honestly. This is everybody's. I mean, it's Jason's, but it's everybody's too. I'm trying to do a celebratory picture, but I don't know what to draw. I don't have a chair. Where do I find my character? You don't want to know.
Dude, I can't even fucking believe this shit. Yeah, amazing. Did Jason pass out with happiness? I bet you anything he's just down there like middle fingering the entirety of New Jersey. Fuck you, guy on the roof. Just running down the street. Fuck you. He's on the roof. Crying, laughing, flipping off New Jersey. Just old women walking by, walking their cats. He's just like, fuck you. You went to go find that mugger to stab me. And you go to hell. And you go to hell. Oh, God. I'm back. I'm sorry. I'm done being a bitch. Were you actually crying? Of course. Let's get back to the game.
Congratulations, Jason. Thank you. I just had to take a moment and fucking, that's a thing now. I'd just like to take a second and again thank everyone out there. Did you know that we have 138 people watching/listening to this right now? Hey, 130 people. 138? Oh, hey, 138 girls. Hey. You're my very favorite listener, each and every one of you. This is my favorite listener in the Citadel. Okay. Scott. Yes. Sorry about that, sir. What? Well, you know. Keller's gonna say, I'm aware that we have a crime problem. But I'm not exactly, I'm not exactly sure handing over the reins of our city to martial law is the way to deal with it.
I've heard about your methods, Mr. Santa. And to be honest, I'm not really sure that's what's best for our city. Well, to be honest, right now the method you're using doesn't seem to be working. Unless your intent was to turn this into another Durn Hollow. Okay, she is, okay, roll a perception for me, please. She's from Durn Hollow and she's super offended. 29. Hey, I got a crit. An actual one. You absolutely have offended this woman. Like, you could see it in her face, like that, that, it's like, huh. Mr. Santa, if I may ask, what exactly is it that the Overwatch wants from us in return for your services?
The ability to recruit. To find some able-bodied men and women to help out in our cause. You mean humans? Preferably, yes, but we've been known to use other races if need be. I personally have served with a changeling, a tiefling, and a half-elf. Have served. They all deserted Overwatch. Hmm. She's going to stand up and kind of cross the distance between the room and kind of walk right up to Marcus. I'm sorry that you traveled all this way, Mr. Santa, but I don't think that you and I will be doing business together. To be honest, I don't enjoy bigotry. We may have our problems in this city, but we'll deal with them as best we can, and we'll sort them out one way or another.
And how well has that gone for you so far? Notice I said I served with them. I did not turn on them. I may not agree with everything that goes on in Overwatch, but I will do whatever I can to protect the people of Overwatch. Just as I did everything I could to protect those people that were involved with me. The fact that they found another cause that they believed in more is not my problem, nor is it my fault. Fault isn't the issue here, Mr. Santa. It's more about ideals. There are many things we would have to give up if you and, I'm guessing, your army were to occupy our town.
Such as? Freedom, for a start. I'm imagining I would have to run decisions past you or someone higher up than you. No. I've not said I wanted to take over the town. You are free to run this town as you please. I want to help you clean up your criminal problem, and in exchange be able to recruit people who wish to come along. I'm not taking captives along and forcing people into the army right now. And what happens if recruiting doesn't go exactly as you planned? So be it. Eventually there will be people who see what we are doing in your town as helping out and will want to join.
People want to feel safe, and right now they don't feel safe under your leadership. Because the criminals are running roughshod. Nobody in your town has stepped up to help. We are offering to help, and I am offering to help put an end to the crime. And they're criminals by your law, not by whatever Overwatch laws are. You can see... Do me a favor, roll a Perception check, please. 25. You can see that you're still kind of on the path of offense. You know, under your watch things are shitty. That's kind of what you're telling her. But she does appear to be thinking over what you're saying.
Do I know how long she's been mayor? Roll a History check. 15. You would know that she's been mayor for about four years. Okay. Look, you've been in charge here for about four years. This problem started long before you got here and is entrenched since before then. It's going to take more than just you to clean this up because the criminals are used to doing what they want. That's where we come in. We will be your police force. You tell us where the crime is and what the crimes are and we will go take care of it. And they can be tried by your courts. Um...
That one, go ahead and roll a Diplomacy check for me, please. Natural 20. 34. Again, she's going to... she's... Instead of trying to... like, you very much got the sense a moment ago that she was trying to usher you out. Try and, like, push you out the door. Now she's kind of stopped. You understand that this is a very large scale decision. Yes, completely. That's why I approached you with it instead of just marching into town and taking over. There was no point in that. I don't want to run your town. Can you give me a day to think it over? Uh, yes. Is there somewhere my troops and I can set up camp?
That we will be out of the way but still close enough to where you can get a hold of us? Well, we can't exactly house all of your men, but we can definitely set you and a few people up in the local inn. We can sequester an entire section off for you if you like. That would be wonderful. Although, like I said, we as an army are more than capable of setting up a camp somewhere nearby. If you prefer, but you are guests of the city. Okay, I will take myself and my small contingent of personal people with me and I will have the rest of my troops set up outside.
Just outside the city. How's that? That sounds... fine. Okay, so she's going to reach her hand out to shake yours. And I will shake her hand and bow my head at the same time. Thank you for your time. And you, Mr. Santa. Okay, let's see here. Let's catch up with Una, Merrick, and Kaluna. So, you guys would all be done at the tattoo shop here. So, let's say that you've wrapped up and you... so Una's got her brand new knuckle tats of color. Sweet. That constantly look as if they're dripping blood. And I imagine you're heading back to Dormach's house. Or, well, Jadci's house now.
Yeah. On the way back, can I talk to them about the mayor and the crime thing and stuff? Sure. Please do. They were there when I was talking to Craig and he was saying, "Well, you guys gotta stay and help clean up the town, right?" Yes. So, it was going to do that thing where everyone's walking but she'll turn around and walk backwards and talk. Just trying to get the information out as fast as possible while we head back. So, you guys were there when we were talking about protecting the town and cleaning up with the crime, right? Of course. Are you guys okay with that?
I'm not sure. I mean, you could have spent time around criminal elements. I don't know, Merrick. I could see you kind of lurking around a little bit. Kaluna, not so much. Kaluna's gonna look vaguely offended like, "Excuse you. I could totally roll with those guys." Yeah. Merrick will just say that I come from a land of criminals. I'm not a criminal myself but I absolutely believe cleaning up the streets is not the wrong way to go here. Okay. Just making sure you guys are okay with that. Obviously, there are bigger problems in the world but Esther Holt's done us a pretty good turn.
I'm positive that if we get in and talk to the mayor before the Overwatch gets their control here, we could honestly help the war effort. You've taken us in without question and trusting us immediately and it's the least we can do to follow your lead. Okay. Good stuff. And we'll go back to the house. Heading back into the house, you're gonna run into Liara and Brie coming down the steps. Do me a favor. Everyone roll a perception check. Kaluna, Merrick, and Una. 33. Oh, come on. That's a waste of fucking roll. Maybe you're on a roll. You just don't know it yet.
When is that ever gonna be the case? Well, as long as it's not an attack roll. So, walking into this house, everyone's going to smell this pungent, rotting flesh stench in the air. It's almost overpowering. Would Fy need to roll that as well? Ooh, yes, Fy. Please. Yes. So sorry, sir. Oh, I heard you. Okay. Fy's nose is clogged up, so Fy doesn't, like, he's got the sniffles. He totally doesn't pick this up. Yeah. I should also mention that Merrick's a vegetarian and he has been for quite some time. This is probably gonna be super, super vile to him. Just vomit everywhere.
Oh, it's dry heaving. It's just, oh, oh, oh. It just smells like home for Kaluna. So that's a problem. Like, everyone's gonna kind of converge at this, at this, like, foyer area. So you're walking in, they're walking down, and just, like, everyone's like, "Oh, God, what is that?" Like, everyone all at once just kind of picks up on it. And Leora's gonna kind of look, look, look at you guys. You smell that, right? Yeah, what the fuck is that? Merrick's gonna open the front door and just sort of, like, open and shut, open and shut to try to get some air in.
Are you that bad of a chef? I didn't cook anything. We were upstairs. It smells like you killed someone and they aged 50 years in five seconds. I'm sorry, we just watched you kill someone yesterday, so... Well, they didn't smell. Okay, let's, let's just fan out and try and find out where the hell this is coming from, 'cause if what I'm hearing about the previous tenant is anything to be believed, I'm guessing we probably have a dead body or something on our hands? That's probably a big body if it smells that much, but yeah, let's go. So tracing this back, you guys are going to, you guys are gonna figure out it's coming from the library, and you're gonna see this door propped open with a chair in front of it.
Can we tell if the smell is coming from there? Oh, it's definitely coming from there. That is, uh, it does not take long to figure that out. Kaluna will vault over the chair. Oh, you can definitely squeeze past it, but yeah, if you just want to be all badass about it, yeah, totally. That's how she rolls. Okay. Do me a favor, roll an acrobatics check. I should have known. Oh, this is going to go really well, guys. Oh! 23. Kaluna effortlessly vaults clean over this, this, this chair. Everything went better than expected. Hi, how you doing? I'm enjoying the fun.
Do we see Jadzia down there with all the bodies? Uh, well, as you guys walk in here, it's clear that someone's just been through here recently. And then rounding the corner, do me a favor, everyone roll a perception check. Do I also roll a perception check? Well, you don't need to, no. Look at that crit one. 28 for me. Did you follow him? Um, did I know that they came back? I would, I would imagine you hear him coming. Uh, yeah, yeah, I, I would have followed them then. Okay. 16. Okay. Everyone's going to notice a, um, everyone's going to notice a, a string of dead bodies lined up on the ground in this, uh, this kind of workshop-y looking area.
Um, and you're going to see, uh, Jadzia and Valus pulling down one last body off a meat hook, the worst of the bunch. Um, the body's kind of mushy as they touch it. Uh, so as they're, as they're handling it, um, the contents of the body are kind of shifting and, um, they, they, they kind of, they, they're, as they have to put pressure on the body to lift it up, their handprints are leaving an indent in the, in, in the body itself. Like a plastic bag full of pudding. Kind of, yes, yes. Um, so as they kind of take down the last, like, as soon as the body's lifted up off the hook, the torso slips forward, um, and it's going to go ahead and drape itself over Jadzia.
Thanks! Just, just ever so slightly, um, and, and Valus is going to kind of immediately, like, flip it backward, like flip it down and, um, the head is going to fall backwards and kind of shatter on the ground. Like it's going to hit and then just kind of squish and like a rotten pumpkin. You just got $20,000, what's wrong with you? Well I have to finish what was in the tank first! It's the most adorable squish ever. Butterflies come out. Yeah, but at least we know this lasts about 30 minutes for Jason, so. No, no, no, this is, I just got to finish what's in the tank, the new stuff, guys.
The new stuff that I'm going to be writing. Can, can Kaluna just sort of poke one of the bodies that's near her? Sure, you sure can. It just bursts. Guys, look what I found! He's like half-heartedly trying to stop her, he's nothing like an acrobatics type check, but just like, oh, come on, don't, come on, not now. She kind of caught your head at him. I just have a gross question real quick. If Kaluna wanted, could she like put her branches in there and like suck out nutrients and shit? Ew, that's awesome! That sounds great, can we make that cannon? Can we do that?
Could she like plant herself into the earth? Is that like something she does? I've actually never played one of those before, so I don't know how they work, but that sounds like a good idea. I don't know how they work either. Wild 'uns. Yeah, I haven't played a wild 'un, or played with a wild 'un ever. Okay, anyway, sorry, I changed the subject a lot. It's okay. We're having fun, guys. Gross, nasty fun. Fun with corpses. Fun with corpses. That's the name of this episode. So that's gonna be, okay, so you've taken this body, oh god. So this body's kind of on the ground now, and Valus is just kind of making sure, like obviously Jadzia instantly gets like, oh, that looks like, oh god, it's touching me, it's touching me, that kind of thing.
So instantly he kind of flips it back, and you guys are trying to handle them with some kind of respect, but at the same time it's like, get off, like that kind of thing. So he just kind of drops the body. And he's just kind of like, kind of put a hand on Jadzia's shoulder, he's like, you okay? That kind of like reassuring, just like, you cool? You gonna scream? Jadzia's gonna kind of like nod, but she's breathing, and that way people breathe so that they don't throw up. You know that way, that like shaky, like, I'm not gonna throw up, I'm not gonna throw up, I'm not gonna throw up.
Also I was wondering, does this look like it was used for blood magic, like this room? It's corpses. Was this for fun or play? This, do me a favor, roll a perception check. Perception or arcana? You want to make this arcana so bad. You know what, I would say make it arcana just because you're looking for traces of amusing blood magic. So go ahead, roll an arcana check. 25. 25. This looks to be about 50/50. He was definitely doing some blood magi stuff in here, but some of it looks like he was just maybe torturing people? Just to see what he could do to a person before they die?
Fun, creative. Awesome, I'm glad I checked. It does appear that he has kept several journals in this room of his findings. Guy was an avid writer, it would appear. He chronicled a lot of stuff. So what would the party say, I mean walking in on this situation is pretty awful and morbid and like what would you, what would Una and the crew here kind of like say? What's the lighting like in this room? How is it dim? There are lanterns about the room, but none of them are lit. There does appear to be a small amount of natural light coming from, it's kind of a basement looking situation.
There is a window, almost a stained glass type of thing, so it's more red than anything. So it's kind of an eerie red light kind of illuminating the room in a solid beam that kind of diagonally crosses the entire space. Well, Merrick's gonna be, he's just gonna be disgusted. It's not that he can't handle it, it's just the smell is just that bad. He's gonna be having his hand and everything around his mustache and nose and mouth just really looking at this grim scene. And just making sure everybody's okay, that nothing bad has happened? Is everybody okay?
What's even happening? John C. is just gonna shrug and say, "Same thing that always happens in this house. We have to bury the bodies." Yeah, remember when I told you that snooping around is not the best idea, Merrick? This is exactly what I fucking meant. I found- I don't know, I think it's a great idea. I found a few things in the kitchen, but nothing compares to this. So, yeah, Merrick will actually sort of motion to Valus and he's gonna volunteer. Like, "Do you need some help? Let's get these out of here." Yeah, Valus is gonna grab one of these bodies by the arm, the freshest looking, and start to just kind of drag it back down the hallway and just kind of motion with his head, "I think there's an extra shovel." And he is going to start dragging it back towards the- I'm guessing you're gonna want to put it with the other bodies in the hedge maze?
I suppose so, yeah. You have a disposal area at this point. We should probably try and leave them outside, like bring them outside, line them up, give them some flowers or something. And then let them just kind of be there until we can go talk to the mayor and then we can say, "Hey, we found a bunch of fucking bodies in Darwak's house. Is there somebody who might be able to identify them?" Probably not for some of them. Okay, well, the identifiable ones then. One of their faces fell off. There they go. It's perfectly fresh, just no face. Well, a lot of these bodies are missing limbs or fingers or toes or legs or just- like, they're missing stuff.
They're missing. Some of it's just- the crazy thing is Darwak got away with this for so long, A, because he's a powerful crazy person and B, because there was such a- the crime rate is getting so out of hand that people would just disappear and they would figure that it's due to a kidnapping or someone just wandered down the wrong alley or, you know, he just kind of got away with it. Does it say anything about their names in the journals? You would have to start thumbing through them. Okay, I'm gonna go up to Jadzia. Is she alright? Is she taking bodies up?
What's she doing? I think she'd actually go and check on the journals. Okay, cool. I'll walk up to her and say, "Look, Craig was talking the other day about the crime problem in Esterhold. We get Marcus in a room if we agree to clean it up, so this may be something we want to talk to the mayor about. Looking through their names or something, or looking through the journals for their names, who they were, why the fuck they were here. I mean, I guess it's kind of obvious why with some of them, but, yeah. Should we unbury the ones that look like me? They're probably a little gone by now, but if you look like you, so we can always ask, you know, what other women in town look like you.
Right. The kids, too, we should probably mention. This is gonna be a fucked up conversation. Um, Liara's kind of stepped forward. Well, um, it looks like you guys have things settled here. I'm gonna go throw up. I hate to say it, but I'm actually gonna have to take off. I need to get back to Poe and the Ravens, and I don't feel like burying any of these people, so... Well, this was gross. Bye! Are you taking Bree with you? Actually, and she's gonna kind of look over at Bree, Bree's gonna be staying here. She wanted to hang back and be with your group for a while.
She's gonna be taking a break from the Ravens. Why? Don't you need her to fight? Not that I want her to go. I'm gonna let her talk to you about that, but yeah, I need to be getting back. I have no idea what trouble Poe's gotten into waiting at Winterhaven, so... And she's gonna hold her hand out to Una. Can I perception check on what she said about letting Bree tell me? Insight, please. I've got a 19, a 20, and an 18. What are these fucking rules, man? It's called being on a roll, I told you. Sometimes it happens. Okay, so I know everything, basically. There is something big that Liara is not telling you, and she obviously doesn't want to step in and just do it for Bree, but there is a big time reason as to why both Bree is silent during this conversation, and you can tell that Bree's just kind of looking, just kind of not.
She doesn't really want to deal with this, but Liara doesn't want to kind of narc on her, so... Okay, I'm gonna push Liara's hand away and give her a hug, but while I'm hugging her, I'm gonna whisper, "Seriously, you need to tell me if it's that big." Liara's just gonna whisper back, "Just make sure she doesn't die again, okay?" Fuck, why'd she have to say that? Jesus, okay. Not in a hurtful way, it's more like, "Just take care of her." Not like it's your fault. I'll give her a squeeze. She'll be fine. We'll all be fine. She is definitely hugging this shit back out of you.
You guys have been through a lot in the last few days. This has been a trying week on top of the trying weeks that have led up to this week. Yeah, and after a while, she's just gonna kind of let the hug go, and she's gonna wander over to Jadzia and hold her hand out. Jadzia will take it and give it a little shake. And she's gonna kind of make her way around and get to Kaluna and Merrick and just... more like a head nod, like, "Hey, and you guys too," because she doesn't really know you. She hasn't done anything with you as a pride. She doesn't hug her anyway.
She just assumes that's what's supposed to happen. Right. One, because you're a wildin' and that's not something she's used to dealing with, it's a little off-putting. And on top of that, it's also like, "Oh, okay, we're hugging. Okay, that's not okay." There's not much of a hugger, but there are rare exceptions. Like, if you fight and almost die next to somebody, it's like, "Okay, we've been through some shit." So, yeah, she's gonna kind of, after a second, like, "Okay," kind of pat you on the back, like, "Hey, okay, there you are." Then Kaluna will look at Merrick, like, "Did I do it right?" Merrick will just turn away from Kaluna for the moment and just give a very polite, very respectful, very slight bow, just acknowledging the situation, of course.
And she's gonna kind of, like, just kind of like, lower her head real quick and bow, like, just kind of. And then she's gonna make her way over to Fi and she's gonna hold her hand out. She will shake her hand and say, "Don't worry. She will be fine." I have no doubt she will. You just keep an eye on her, alright? I'll keep a very close eye on her. And she's just kind of pat Fi on the shoulder and then kind of walk back out of this hallway and Liara is going to leave the party. Okay, so, while graves are being dug... Let's go visit the mayor. Let's go do that.
You can totally do that. Falis doesn't need to come. He'll just creep her out. Hey, how's it going? We have a giant fucking tiefling who smells like corpse. We all smell... I smell the most like corpse right now, actually. Probably Jadzia's gonna smell the most corpse-y. Corpse-y? -I can smell. -Corpse de cologne. Oh, de corpse. Song de corpse. That was French. That was me being classy. All cultured and shit. Kaluna will stay behind because she doesn't know politics and she'd much rather play in the dirt. I imagine she'd be great at digging holes. Like a dog just kicking it out from behind her.
Not even thinking why. Just like, "Oh, holes. Awesome. Yeah, of course." Fuck yeah, holes. So, Merrick would definitely want to follow Una for this. Alright, so, is Fi going or staying? Fi is going as well. Alright, so, Jadzia, Jadzia's going? -Um, yes. Yes, I'm going. -Alright, so, Jadzia, Fi, Una, Merrick... And I believe that's it from the party. ...is gonna go ahead and you are going to seek an audience with Mayor Keller. Now, let's see here. Marcus would have already retired and his troops have pretty much vacated the city proper and are on the outskirts.
Of course, the group would have no knowledge of why or where. So, I would imagine that walking down the street would be something you're kind of cautious about. Maybe kind of glancing around, making sure that you're not spotted. I would imagine. So, Bree's gonna go ahead and go with you. Now, again, Mayor Keller has a pretty much an open door policy, so if you have an issue, you can pretty much speak to her if you feel it's urgent. So, I would imagine you can pretty much just walk into, like, she'd have an assistant and it would be, you know, you would, I would imagine, just say, "We'd like to speak with Mayor Keller" and they would let you in.
No waiting room with, like, awkward shitty cookies in the middle. No, I mean, she's pretty. Kids' magazines. Kids' highlights. You gotta read this 12-year-old edition of Highlights. One of those little things where you move the wooden balls around on these little, like, sticks of twine. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Little corkscrew, yeah, there you go. It's like a weird wonky abacus for kids. There's some dead fish in the aquarium. Time life with Ronald Reagan on the cover. If there's some sort of rack or, like, an umbrella stand, I'll put my Morningstar in it. The hat stand, just hang up the soul hat.
Yeah, just walk right in. So, okay. So, Mayor Keller is going to be at her desk and she's going to watch you all walk in. Is there something I can do for you? Una's going to hold her hand to shake and say, "Una anhala," fist of cord. She's going to stand up and, as you're introducing herself, do me a favor, roll a perception check. She also has taffs that say cord on the... No. Okay, you're going to notice that as you're introducing yourself, like, the una anhala bit doesn't exactly, like, register. When you say fist of cord, it's like, "Oh!" Like, it's kind of like, just kind of like you can see it in her eyes, like, the recognition is like, "Oh." So, she's going to stand up and kind of, like, vigorously shake your hand.
Welcome to Esther Holt, Miss Analata. Is there anything I can do for you? I'm going to turn around and introduce everyone. If I need to run down the list, do I need to run down the list? No, no, no, no. I introduce everyone. Yes. And she's going to kind of nod her head at each one of you. I'm going to kind of, like, stand next to Jadzia and put my hand on her shoulder and say, "We are currently inhabiting the house that used to belong to Dharmak. This is his widow." A mixture of... Do me a favor, Jadzia, roll a perception check, please. Alright. It goes well for me, usually, so...
Twelve! Twelve. I'm too busy being grossed out by the fact that she reminded me that I was married to Dharmak. Sorry. Jadzia's not going to really notice too much about this, but there's a very subtle shift in tone on Christina's face. At first, you mention, "Oh, Dharmak," and it's like, "Uh, huh?" And then this woman used to be married to Dharmak. And there's a, like, social graces dictate that you say, "I'm sorry for your loss." But at the same time, it was Dharmak, so... So she's kind of, like, there's this hesitation, "I'm sorry to hear that?" Nobody else is.
It's fine. I don't know, are you sorry to hear that I was married to him? Or that he's dead? She's asking that for real. A bit of both. I would say more the former than the latter. Can I ask how he died? Painfully. Yep. And Jadzia's going to kind of smile a little bit, but she's not going to say anything. She doesn't actually know if it was legal to kill him, and it is the mayor. Right. Would you like to buy some weed, maybe? Natural stone in the head causes. I actually believe it was a fireball to the head. Oh, sorry. Spontaneous combustion. Damn this thing. We were eating dinner, he just burst into it.
We were eating the dinner of twelve different people, because that's what that fucker did. So, what exactly are you saying to her? Like, the exact phrasing of what you're saying. I think Jadzia's just going to smile a little bit, and I'm going to steal what Fi-- unless Fi's going to say it, I'm going to say painfully. Which is not a lie. Not a lie. Christine's actually going to kind of give, like, kind of this very, very, very faint smile and just kind of nod her head. I see. Well, I'll be honest, I don't think anyone will really want to launch a formal investigation.
Good, because we killed him. No, I'm just kidding. We totally iced that bastard. And once he was dead, you should see the things we did to his corpse. Oona's actually going to say that, though. Oh, seriously? Yeah. She's going to say, "Look, I'm going to be straight up. We did kill him. He was crazy. He attacked us, and we killed him. No one's going to mourn that, because he was a fucking creep." I know it's kind of against the law to murder people, but considering what we found in his house, there needs to be a different kind of investigation. We found a lot of corpses.
There were some buried in the garden. We just recently found some in a room, a hidden room. There were some children among them, some women who look very similar to my friend Jadzia. It's been a fucked up time. Um, Keller's going to kind of put her face in her hands, just like, "Ugh." I'll be really honest with you, this is the last thing I need at the moment. How many corpses did you say? There are seven downstairs, and how many did we find when we first got there? There are more than seven? I wasn't saying that in character. Oh. I was going to say, there are more than ten, I believe.
Merrick's going to have a very quick, uncomfortable cough. I was going to say, but we're here to help. We didn't come just to report this. I know that the Overwatch is here to ingratiate themselves with the people of Esterhold. But I grew up in this city. This is not a city that the Overwatch will ever control, or should ever control. And we're looking to help you clean this shit up, get rid of shit like Darmok, fix the problems that he created, appease the families that he destroyed, and generally get things back on track. Preferably in the most lawful way possible, but that hasn't really been a problem for us in the past.
I'm going to go ahead and guess that you're working with Craig. I'm just going to smile. You know, he came to speak to me a few hours ago. He's...myself and him don't really see eye to eye on many of the dealings in the city, but neither one of us really want the Overwatch moving in. What exactly is it that you're proposing? Because he mentioned something about a task force, which sounds a lot like vigilante justice to me. Look, I'm not going to lie. We have done a little bit of vigilante justice in the past. Mostly because we were working in areas that didn't have laws, or where the laws really didn't apply to that situation.
I'm not saying I want to do that here. I'd like to do everything as lawfully and cleanly as possible. I'm not looking to break any laws. More just to kind of do good in general. We're not a task force. We're just a group of exceedingly strong, brave, and awesome individuals who can seriously fuck shit up. And we're looking to help you put us at your disposal. I can see you're modest. Modesty is boring. I had a meeting with the Overwatch commander not long ago. He was fairly persuasive. To be honest, we do have a problem with crime in the city. I guess my question to you is the Overwatch is offering to station troops that we would be in command of.
I'm guessing it's just you and your group? Okay. If you spoke to the Overwatch commander, you probably spoke to Marcus, right? Yes, Marcus Santa. So, I know you're big on laws and you're not big on vigilante sort of justice, but Marcus Santa is the perfect example of somebody who follows all the laws, but is a complete and utter fucktard. He personally is responsible for framing and killing Jadzia's father, as well as Fi's mother, and I'm going to gesture to Fi, for power. No other reason than for climbing the ranks. He's a manipulative cunt, and I know he's persuasive, but trust me, you don't want Overwatch involved in an Esther Holt.
That's a recipe for control. That's a recipe to get overthrown. You especially don't want Marcus to be anywhere in a position of power. These are some pretty lofty accusations you're tossing at him. Is there any proof to any of this, or is this more hearsay? Who do you fucking hear that from? I actually saw the letter and I was able to recognize his handwriting. I knew that he was the one who wrote the letter. Whoa, hold on. You never saw the letter. The letter was between... it never left Overwatch. I remember seeing the letter. I rolled a perception check on it.
No you didn't. Oh, I knew that you forged letters. Yeah, you knew I forged letters that I have the ability to read and write, but nobody has ever seen that letter. Okay, calm down. Chill your titties. Just ice them. Just grab a Slurpee, put them between your breasts. The White Raven Runner, I think, relayed a message regarding Marcus' involvement. It was Poe! It was Poe, right? Okay, great. That's perfect. Okay, okay. It was Poe, right, Jason? Yes. Okay. Then, what I was going to say... Poe Tootillo, another member of the Temple of Kord, my personal friend, and a man who worked side by side with Marcus for weeks, gave us this information.
I know Poe. The people at the Temple of Kord know Poe, and they can vouch for him. He would not lie about this. You saw how manipulative Marcus can be, just with you. Do you really doubt that he would do something like that? I really can't speak to the man's character. I don't know him. The only thing I do know is all the stories I've heard about the city and how they deal with their crime. And while their crime rate is next to nothing, I have heard about all the hangings and punishment. Hangings of innocent people. I would rather not bring that to our city.
So, you're essentially asking to be deputized. I think that would be effective. I'm asking for you to take over command of our group, which is quite a leap of faith considering we haven't been commanded in a very long time. But I think you have a good thing going here. I have a strong emotional connection to the city of Esterhole, and I only want the best for it. You'll be working under Mason, I assume. Who the fuck is Mason? Oh, okay. I was like, wait, what? The one that was in Arlov? You confused me, bro. No, it's fine. I was like, wait, what the fuck? Jason, what are you doing with the story?
We'll work with whoever will help us get this job done as fast, as cleanly, and as effectively as possible. Can Merrick step in for a second and say a couple things? Sure. Mayor Keller, I'm Merrick Ethelred. I'm a cleric from the fire isles. I've seen this before. Esterhold has a problem that will only get worse over time. It's like a disease. I come from a place where criminals run loose. The order of clerics that raised me spent their lives creating pockets of solace for good people, keeping them safe. This is what we can do for Esterhold. Nice. Roll a diplomacy check for me, please. 16.
Can I assist? Because all those things that I didn't roll diplomacy checks for? Well, he already kind of made the roll. Yep. Go ahead, make an assist roll. It's fine. Okay, what is that? A d20? Just a flat d20. Damn it, because my modifier isn't helpful here. No. Hey! So that's an 18. Final play. Yeah. While myself and Craig don't always get along, I do know him. And he is honorable, if nothing else. Stubborn and pigheaded, but honorable. If you'll be working with him and he can vouch for you, then I don't see a reason not to trust you. As long as you'll be answering to someone.
I can't just have a gang of thugs wandering around the city. Now, about the thugging. I feel like we should be completely honest with you, because dishonesty has gotten us in trouble in the past. Not personal dishonesty, but anyway. We are seeking to get revenge on Marcus. He has destroyed the lives of my friends, their families, and the families of many other people who don't even know. I'm not looking to bring Overwatch's wrath down on Esterhold, but they are distracted with the war with Winterhaven. No harm should come to Esterhold from our interaction with Marcus.
But I do want to let you know that that is our plan. That's kind of the price of our help. Diplomacy? That's a diplomacy check. 26. That's not great, but it could... Where are my 18s? Come on. Pretty good, though. Let me see if I understand this. I'm about to deputize you as official peacekeepers in the city of Esterhold, and you want your first act to be to assault the commanding officer of the Overwatch army who is a guest in our city. That's basically it. I know it seems steep, but sometimes you... Well, you know what? Let's just say everything has a price.
And Marcus has a lot of debt. Can I step in real quick? Can J'onn Z'O-- Please do. J'onn Z'O is going to step forward and say, "Do you remember... Miss, did you ever meet Darmok?" I have had the unfortunate task of trying to enforce some of our... I've had to speak with him about a few things, yes. So you know how powerful he was. You couldn't really control a man like that. No one could stand up to him. I lived with him for most of my life. No one could stop him, is that correct? It is. I kind of nod to the group and go, "We did." For you are so fucking awesome.
Roll a diplomacy check for me, please. I only have a +6. I get a +1 because she's next to me, right? That's actually what you do, yeah. Oh shit! Come on! That was so good! Wait, wait, no. I am going to use my fucking lucky rabbit's foot. God damn. Good, good, good, good. It makes sense if she's talking about how powerful Darmok is and she's shaking and fucking terrified. That makes sense. Does Dark One's own luck work on...? It does. Yeah, that's the one I meant. Let me try again. Fuck. I made me so mad. It's okay. What the fuck? No! Oh my god! Do you have the one where you can add the +4?
That wouldn't even really help much. It would be better than a fucking 7. Wow. Holy shit. So, Mayor Keller is going to... I understand you think that backs up your point, but you did murder a man in cold blood. Fee is going to... Or Fee, someone else. He's going to step forward and say, "We murdered a man in cold blood." You say. "This man was someone who was untouchable by your laws, by your task force, your guards." "We have done a duty to the city already." "Now this man, this man Marcus, he has killed, regardless of the fact that it was my own mother..." "But he has killed an innocent woman, a defenseless innocent woman, in cold blood to further his career." "What do you think he might do once he gets to any form of position of power within the city?" "How do you think you will fare against a man like that?" Do me a favor, roll a diplomacy check.
Twelve. Oh god. No, guys, let's just kill her. We're players now. Let's just group one this shit. Seriously, what is up with this? Okay, can I step in? Okay, if you'd like. Is he just the thing I said again? Yeah, that's basically what I was going to try and say. Well, okay, you can see her kind of reacting. I don't doubt that Mr. Santa has been involved in something less than on the up and up, but without any actual proof, I don't exactly know that I could just take your word that he's... You didn't stop, Darmok. I'm sorry. I don't like to speak that man's vile fucking name in polite company, but there was nothing you guys could do to stop him.
That's fine, I understand that. He was extremely powerful. We were more powerful, but I understand. Now, Jadzia suffered for years at the hands of this man. I refuse to believe that nobody in this city knew about that. I refuse to believe that with all that everyone knew Darmok was doing, nobody thought for a second that Jadzia might be suffering, that he might be doing horrible things to her. You've shown negligence. I'm not saying I blame you. I completely understand. But maybe you don't have the exact moral upper hand here. Markus Sanna is a bad man. He is not a citizen of Esterhold.
It has very little to do with him, and he needs to die. diplomacy! Go ahead and roll a diplomacy. Can I flash her a little bit of cleavage at a +1? You're wearing your armor? No, you're still not wearing your armor, right? No, I'm not. I'm wearing some cute little dress. It just happens to be. Does anyone want to assist? Yes, please. I think Fie and Jadzia should be able to assist with that. I think this is pretty much it. I can make a sad face. This is going to make or break your case. Just show your scars a little bit, you know? So if Fie, Marek, and Jadzia want to roll assistance rolls, go ahead.
Diplomacy? No, it's a flat d20. Gorgeous. No, you want the... Yes! Yes! Yes! Okay, and then I roll mine? I'm still kind of mad, so I'm just going to put this at 0. Yep, that's a +6. 19. So that is a 25. Oh, thank god. That's fucking good. Okay, that's good enough, right? Thank god. We were about to get kicked out, so no matter what happens, it's better than that. You can see her kind of ponder this on her face for a while. And after a few seconds, she's going to really slowly, kind of like slightly nod her head. And she is going to reach out and shake Una's hand.
Yes! Nom nom nom nom nom. That whole situation tastes delicious. Stop bringing me to these things. Yeah, okay, I will shake her hand. Oh, you rolled a dungeoneering check. Oops! Thank you for that. That was only a +7. And actually... I just rolled a clumsy. 28. Okay, so that's a 34? Just kidding, she kissed you on the lips. You guys totally had sex right there. You won her over so... Okay, so yes, that's it. She just embraces me. Thank you. Thank you for saving us. So... Let me ask the group a question here. So, you've pretty much gotten the go-ahead from Mayor Keller.
And she would have told you where Marcus is staying. You've gotten the go-ahead from Mayor Keller to do what you need to do. Now the question is, you still have a weakened Una. We wait until tomorrow. We wait until I'm not weakened. Weekend? We wait until I'm not the weekend. We wait until the weekend. Everybody's working for the weekend, guys. We should just sleep the night and then do it tomorrow. So this is a bright and early type of thing? Yeah, eat a big breakfast beforehand. Big day. Yeah, I'll cook veggie omelettes for everybody. Is there anything that Merrick can do to help her healing along in any way?
Well, this is just a wait-it-out type of thing. Yeah, that's what I figured. Alright, so, okay, the next morning would be the three days. That would be up. That would be, so you're good. I have my strength back. Alright. Okay, so before we do that though, so you're coming back to the house. So, Kaluna and Valus and who else? The bodies. The bodies. This whole body situation. So Kaluna and Valus have dug some holes. Kaluna is covered in dirt and probably has a bit of gore in like her leaves or something. What about asking the mayor about somebody to identify the bodies?
Can we just say we did that? No, that's going to be taken care of. Well, the body thing, once you brought up, there's bodies there? That's not going away. You can't just like unhear that. Like she knows there's, so yes, there's going to be some people coming around to take a look. So we shouldn't bury them? No. Okay. There's lots of people who just spent like two hours digging ditches. Right. They'll be pleased. Yeah, one of them is enjoying the task, one of them is not. No, I think Merrick would like to be able to at some point, whenever the moment's right, to be able to say some words with the bodies and do something a bit more clericky about it.
Sure. A monetary. Just stands there for them and is like, holy words, blessing. Religion. May you...relige. Good talk. I'm hungry. Okay, so the rest of the party's gotten back to the house. I imagine you're going to want to talk to Valis and Cologne and let them know what the plan is here, what's going on. Okay, that sounded super confident. Love it. You also may want to tell them not to dump these bodies in the holes they've just dug. Hey guys, don't dump the bodies. Done. Bam. There we go. Valis is going to turn around and look at Una. What? There are going to be some people along and they're going to try and identify any of the bodies.
We're trying to do this town...we're trying to get some justice around the place. Speaking of justice, we have the green light...actually that wouldn't be a thing, that would not be a...there are no green lights in here. Okay. We have the go ahead to kill Marcus. Basically free of any ramifications. So we're going to take a nice little light, get some rest, and then in the morning shed some blood. Valis is taking this in, and he's looking at these seven fresh fucking holes they just dug. Look at some rose bushes, honey. And he's going to kind of throw the shovel down in disgust like, motherfucker, like I just...
Una's just going to sit in one of the holes. They're like, yay, it's mine now. Like a cat in a cardboard box. Exactly. Valis, after a few seconds, is just going to kind of grumble and just start walking back towards the house, like just go back inside. Complete waste of his time, effort, and energy. And then he's going to kind of stop, and he's going to kind of look at Una. Paladin, do you have a minute? Sure, bear trap. He's going to kind of narrow his eyes. That's adorable, like a little character. Yeah, I'll follow him, I guess, or whatever. He's going to try to usher you aside, just pull you aside for a second.
Okay. You seem to be close to the girl, the scion. Uh... sure. I may actually need your help with something. Look, bro, if you've got a crush on her... And he's just kind of like, what? No. What? She's saying it's a joke, because she knows about the jets he does. Right, right, right. He just talks like a joke. He's like, what? No. Just kind of catches him off guard. No. Just like, feelings are dumb, just like, no. The entire reason I'm out West was to find that girl and let her know that both of her sisters were murdered. Cute. That's sweet. Maybe you should have mentioned that before all this shit went down.
Really? When she was dead, or when we were fighting at Winterhaven? I don't know. Maybe before? I get the whole "it's never the right time," but considering she died, she was brought back, her mom figure fucking left, and some weird shit went down with us? Like, what? Now? That's the worst. You're the worst. I kept waiting for there to be a better time, but it doesn't seem to be getting better. Okay. Uh, Una's gonna grab Valus and drag him over towards Bree. He's gonna immediately start resisting. Like, just immediately. Athletics check? Yeah, athletics check.
This will be versus his fortitude. Uh, 22. Actually, what is Valus's fortitude? Hold on. Please, oh please, oh please. Oh, that is not gonna be his fortitude. He is gonna start pulling back immediately. He's like, "No, no, no, no, no, no, no." Look, you need to fucking tell her. Did you expect me to tell her? I was hoping you could at least assist in it. Oh my god. Grow some fucking balls and actually complete the mission that you set out here to do? It just appears as though she's been through enough. Well, it's not gonna get any better. Her sisters are still dead.
You waiting to tell her is not gonna bring them back. Better to keep it on now, deal with the consequences, and try and help her as much as we possibly can, then fucking sit back and wait until a good moment. We're in the middle of a war. There's never a good moment. Idiot. Um... Idiot was in character, by the way. I would imagine. Um... So Valus is just kind of looking over to the rest of the party. Um... Are they hearing any of this? 'Cause I'm yelling it. No, I would imagine. Oh, you're yelling. Oh, yeah, that was yelling. Oh, okay. So that's how you want Brianna to find out.
Good. Not the sisters dead part. I quieted down to say that. But the rest of it. There's a calling of a fucking idiot in front of everybody. Okay. Just the general abuse, you know. Okay, Bree just rolled a quick run, so no, she didn't even notice any of that. Probably staring at the bodies. Thirteen. Didn't notice that. Uh, Fee? Uh, twenty-four. Fee noticed. Shh! She's in a kaluna. Give me a perception roll, please. Kaluna noticed. So Fee and Kaluna definitely are picking up on this. Uh, Merrick, not so much. Not so much with the noticing. He's messing with the bodies.
Uh... Holy... Yeah, sacrament. Gothic architecture. Gothic architecture! Stained glass windows. Wooden benches. Long wooden benches. Phew, phew, phew. Pulpit. And we're done. Just make some vague hand gesture. Looks like karate chops in the air. Like he wants to fix their hair. Anyway... Plexi... Plexi-flower off kaluna. Just like, there you go. Right, here, this'll help. I don't know. Duh. Alright. Didn't see it. That's the point. Yes. The bit is, um... Okay, so are Fee and Kaluna gonna do anything? Or are they just kind of noticing? Um, is Bree... Yeah, Bree's out there with us.
Yes, she's out there. Totally didn't notice it, though. Fee is just gonna look over at her and... And then back at... back at Una and Vallas, but not say anything or show any... any signs of anything. Kaluna's gonna kind of, sort of pick up on like, "Oh, that's that person." And she's gonna go and talk to Bree. Just sort of like, "Hey, hi, what's up? We haven't talked. How's it going?" If Luna is going to go and talk to Bree, Fee will kind of move closer. Um, Bree's just kind of taking in the whole scene with the bodies and everything, and then Kaluna's like, "Hi?" Well, it's just kind of like, just kind of like, moves.
Like, you've already kind of been introduced, but not like, formally, I guess. Um... Vallas? Okay. Vallas eventually is just gonna kind of concede. So, he's... He's gonna kind of look at Una and just... kind of shake his head and just... he looks defeated. Like, he doesn't... like, he doesn't... He doesn't want to do this, but you kind of have a point. Like, it's not... the situation's not getting better. Like, it doesn't appear as though this group is going to have any, you know, better luck. How do you propose we do it? Okay, come on. Just... just follow me.
Uh, Vallas is gonna follow Una over to Bree, where both Fee and Kaluna are standing with her. Okay, um... I'm gonna kind of, like, touch her arm. And just say hey. Um... Look, I know shit has been really messed up recently, and, um, you've been through a lot. But I'm gonna have to ask you to be extra strong and also deal with this information. Uh... I just kind of look over at Vallas. I... met your mother in White Hedge. Um, and you're gonna see Bree's eyes just kind of like, "What?" Like, that... like, that's... that... Like, how would you even know my mother is kind of the look on her face?
I... had to give her some very unpleasant news. And... she asked if I could find you... and let you know as well. I had spent time and on a call with both of your sisters. And you... like, now he's hesitating. Like, he's... he's right on the cusp of this. Like, he's hesitating. And he's kind of looking at Una like, "Really, do we have to do this now?" Like, he's like, "This is the last piece. Like, we can bail. We can just stop." Um... Oh god, just... just go. Just keep going. I'm not feeling any fear. I'll just, like... Una will narrow her eyes at him. I had...
Both myself and your sisters were prisoners and on a call. We would periodically fight in an arena they had set up. A group had been placed in the same holding cell as us. And eventually we were told that we would have to fight them. Or they would kill our family members. The bottom line is, this group murdered both of your sisters. They didn't really have a choice in the matter. And Valus isn't even looking her in the eye. When he's... like, he's trying... like, he's just kind of like... his eyes are really cast down. Very, very... just... He just doesn't want to break this poor girl's heart.
Everyone do me a favor. Roll Perception. Brie does not give a fuck. Just... just blank face. And now I get a crit. Let's see here. Sorry, I blanked out for a second. What just happened? My Skype undid. Oh, seriously? Yeah. Valus just told Brie about her sisters. Shit. And why did everyone roll Perception? Reaction. Okay, one second. Hey, I noticed a thing. Okay, go. Sorry. No, no. No problem. Brie, Merrick, Kalluna, and Fie are all going to... to see the devastated look wash across Brie's face. And she appears to just be absolutely stunned. Una is going to notice that... it looks as though she's going to... like, it looks as though her legs are just going to give out.
Like, she's just going to fall over. Like, it looked like that... that... that just... All of the stuff that have happened... Yeah, all of the stuff that has happened up until now, like, that's... that's kind of the only family she had left. Una will, like, you know, like, hold her or whatever. Gross. Whatever. That thing. Where you touch people. [laughs] Is she crying? No, not crying. Just... It looks like she's just locked up. Like, it's just like that's... Like, she isn't saying anything or doing anything. Like, it's just... just kind of like stunned shock.
Okay. And then after... after this really long beat passes... she's going to look valous in the eye. The group... the group that did that... Are they still alive? And, uh, Valus is just... The last time I saw them, yes. They were all still alive. And Breeze just, like, she... she kind of cast her eyes back down and... you can kind of see that she's thinking. Um... and then she's going to turn to Una. We have to kill them. Um, and... she's no longer shaking. Like, she's not... That doesn't look like... it kind of looks like she's regained her composure. Um...
Okay, I'm going to take her hand and, uh... press a dinner roll into it. [laughs] And just kind of squeeze. Um... and say, "Look. You want to kill them? I am behind you 100%. But we need to take care of things here first. And I think you need to think things through a little bit more. Before running off. Because the last time you did... I just kind of, like, stopped talking." Um... Brianna looks pissed more than anything. Just... Absolutely... just... That shock is going... it just looks like she is enraged. Which is interesting. Because normally... Actually, Una, go ahead and roll a perception check for me, please.
Okay, thanks. Okay, so Una's going to notice how... how infuriated Bri looks. And Una's kind of seen that look before, and... she's only looked that pissed one other time, and that was when... [laughs] That was when you were fighting her near Kalkas. Yeah, I figured. The difference is... Normally when she looks that pissed... Her pupils are gone and her hands are glowing. Oh, shit! And there's none of that going on right now. Okay, and Una notices that, right? Yep. Okay, I'm holding her hand. Her hands usually glow, right? Um, yes. Okay, so I'm gonna... hold her hand up in front of her face and be like...
"What the fuck?" So some of that look of anger kind of dissipates, like, "Ah, shit." Like, that's... kind of replaced with that. Yeah, I was kind of getting to that. I was hoping we could talk alone. When me and Fi were... fighting near the... The Mayor's Mansion... I went to punch one of the guards in the face, and... I did the same thing I always did. I... I thought about... I thought about the same thing that I always did to... get me to the place I need to be, and I... Nothing happened. Nothing... I just did this weak, feeble punch, and it just... I... I can't seem to get...
I can't seem to get anything going. I've tried a few times now. I don't know what's happened. Did you keep fighting? When you fought the guards, and you didn't... It didn't work. Did you keep fighting? I didn't abandon Fi, if that's what you're asking. No, I'm asking if you kept fighting. Yeah, I kept fighting. It was just gonna look like... "Atta girl!" And, uh... Show... Sorry, I just saw the chat. It's "LOL, Bree can't get it up." That was my mistake. I should not have been looking at the chat. And we'll just clap around the back. Say... "Fuck yeah." Now... We're gonna...
We're gonna take care of your sisters. We're gonna take care of this thing where you can't use your powers. It'll be fine. But... I think you need to go rest. Look, I still wanna go with you guys. I... No, you're not... No. I'm sorry. This isn't a debate. Yes, this is. Look, I can still be useful. Just because I can't knock holes through walls doesn't mean that I can't still do something. Look, you can be useful, but you have no other training. So... train me? I can't train you in a day. I'll... I'll... How hard could it be to take a pointed object and just stick it in someone?
I... Surprisingly difficult. People don't like getting stabbed. They move and shit. Vee... Can Vee step up? Sure. Vee says... I will spend as much time as is needed training Bree. She... She fought well against the guards. Regardless of the fact that she did not have any training. I will train her if she is happy to fight with a sword. No offense. I... I mean, I really appreciate you letting me borrow your sword, but... I was thinking maybe something a little smaller? What was your thing? Maybe daggers? I can help you fight with daggers as well. Okay. And she's getting a little bit...
See? Problem solved. We're gonna... We're gonna figure this out and... Now look, okay. You're still gonna fight. You're still going to be brave. You're still gonna be able to do everything you did. But... This is... Probably... Difficult... For you to... Handle in your mind. So I'm gonna ask you to sit the fight with Marcus out. Okay? You're not in the right place mentally. And... To be honest... I don't want an amateur fighter in the room with us. And then, um... Una has that little... That little knife that she always keeps strapped to her arm. And she'll take it out and she'll stick it in the bread roll.
In Bree's hand. And just say, "Keep that in case anything happens." It's extremely sharp. Um... Okay, do me a favor. Roll a perception check. I didn't stab her hand, did I? No, no, no, no, no. Um, what you did... Uh, to her... Was essentially like if, um... You have a real little brother or something and you're leaving. It's like, "You're in charge of the house, champ!" And like, you kind of like tussle his hair. That's how she's taking it. Like, in a bad way? Kinda. Like, it's very... It's like she's... She's kind of struggling to be of some assistance. And it's like you just called her an amateur fighter.
Which is true. But it's still like... It's just... Incredibly demeaning. Oh no, that one kid in Durnhalle liked it when we did that. Yes, he was eight. Bree's not eight? What am I fucking doing? [laughter] You just made yourself come off as kind of gross. I'd say if you're making out with eight year olds, we might have to revisit this whole "who's the bad guy" thing. Um, but yeah, she's gonna... She's gonna kinda take the knife and... It's... Okay. I know you're not happy about it. I wouldn't be either. But last time I was in the battle with you, you died. And I don't particularly want to go through that again.
And I don't think you do either. She's just gonna kinda nod her head here. And unless anyone has anything else to say to her, she's gonna go back into the house. I'm gonna punch fellas. Sorry, go ahead. I was gonna say, can he grab her hand that does not have a knife in it and just say, "Let's get started on that training." Yeah, so she's gonna go from looking really, really dejected to just kind of putting on the brave face like, "Oh, okay. Sure." Valus looks upset. He didn't want to do that. That went from just delivering bad news and then meeting her and then there's been no good time for it and it just went on and on and on.
The longer he waited, the worse it got. Can Jadzia go up to him and take his hand? Because eventually she noticed. It took her a while. Right. But she noticed eventually. So she's gonna take his hand and kind of give him a nudge towards the house. You're probably tired from all that digging. Come on. So he'll kind of go in the house with Jadzia. Does anyone else want to do anything before we rest for the evening? Nope. Finish up with these bodies. I'm gonna make sure that I've put them as comfortably as their bodies would be able to be positioned with a dinner roll in their arms.
So someone's gonna come by eventually and kind of inspect the bodies, see if they can identify them or at least get a rough sketch going or description so that they can, you know. So that'll be taken care of. So the bodies can actually be laid to rest. Let's pick up the next day. So everyone go ahead and give yourselves an extended rest. That's all I've been doing. Yeah. You're gonna need it probably. Sorry I was muted. I'm not weak anymore, right? You're not weak anymore. Woo! Yeah, back to 99 hit points. Alright. Here's what's gonna happen. As you guys awake, kind of get your shit together at the house, there's gonna be a knock on the door.
I guess I'll answer it. Oh, nope. What? Who's being sarcastic? Who said that? It's like, nobody else was gonna do it. I'll do it. Oh, yeah. I'll answer the door. I'm still looking for the money. Every night. Just kind of like, nope, just more bodies. Damn it. Who's losing bodies? Jamie said maybe we should do a quick recap. Yeah, I was just seeing that. Sure. Just give him a quick recap. What? Why the fuck did I do that? You were there! I blacked out. You can't expect me to do that. Oh my god. My alcoholism is a serious problem. Okay. To recap. Marcus Santa had a meeting with Christina Keller, the mayor of Esterholt, which didn't go very well at first until eventually Marcus convinced her that it may be a good idea for the crime rate in Esterholt if the Overwatch occupied the city under her control.
In exchange, they would get the ability to kind of cull for enlistment in the Overwatch army from the people of Esterholt. Eventually, Group 3 had a chance to speak to her as well, and they convinced her that it would be a much better idea to have a small controlled force that operates within Esterholt under Craig Mason, and that they eliminate Marcus Santa. On top of that, Jatzea and Valis found a hidden passageway that led to a small room filled with seven bodies, all of which were pretty much decomposed and rotting. And they since then have removed the bodies and buried them, given them last rites and all that.
The Una and the rest of the party, I guess now, would know that Bree does not have her powers any longer, and Bree found out that both of her sisters were brutally murdered in the arena and on a call. That pretty much catches us up to where we are now. So this is the next morning, knock on the door, and Una's going to answer it. Craig Mason is going to be standing on the other end of this door. And he's got a pretty serious look on his face. Una? Hi, what's up? Christina told me what you're about to go do. Yes. And you're sure that's the wisest move? Killing Marcus.
Yes. Did I not tell you that's what we were going to do before? You did. I'm just making sure that... I'm just making sure that you thought this out. Okay, well, the only possible repercussion is that the Overwatch turns on Esther Holt. In which case, we can do one of two things. We can either surrender ourselves to Overwatch, or we can destroy it. And since that's what we were planning on doing anyway, I don't really see the problem. Alright, I just wanted to make sure. Do you have A-quams? With Marcus himself? No, I don't really care. But I know he brought in a sizable force, and I just wanted to make sure that you thought this through.
Sizable schmizable. Well, they appear to be stationed on the outside of the city right now, so I'm just here to give you his location. He's staying at the inn down the street. There's a sizable banquet hall there, and from what I understand, he and his men have gathered. I would imagine he's going to eat and probably speak to the mayor again, so whatever you're going to do, I would do it now. Are there any recruits? Any trainees that would like to come kill a coward? Not that we need the backup, but... If you're insistent on it, I can try and find some people.
Not insistent because anyone volunteers. I'll ask around. At the very least, just in case someone were to try and overwhelm you from behind. Okay. We'll be leaving in about thirty minutes. Is that enough time? That should be fine. I wish you and your group all the luck. He's going to hold out his hand and give you one of those big-ass wrist handshake things. Yeah, I'll shake him back. And before he leaves, he's going to turn and then kind of turn back. I think we could do a lot of good for this city eventually. And today's the first step towards that. I'm going to smile and hold up my hands so we can see the new tattoos.
And just say, "I'm taking this very seriously." Greg's going to give this a half-smile, just kind of like, "Okay." And he's going to nod his head. And then he's going to just turn and walk back to the temple. Alright. You want to gather the party and head on over to the inn. Adventure fourth? Yes. You guys ready? You guys ready for this shit? I think that was Jason's way of telling us that this is going to be really, really fucking difficult. And we should not expect this to go easily. I've got my heals, guys. We have two healers. We have a fully strengthened, now, paladin.
We have a motherfucker who can go twice in the initiative and slay, slay bitches. And then we have Jadzia, who is impossible to hit. Not impossible. Well, concealment at least, you know. I'm here too. Can I help? Like when mom makes Shake and Bake. Can I help? You guys ready? Do we need any preparation? Nope. Do I have any potions? Are there any potions in the house? That's what I was going to ask. I thought I had potions, and every time I think I have potions, and I think every time you upload my character again, the potions go away. We need to be more careful about that.
I don't believe you do. Okay, then can I look for potions? Yeah. Go ahead, let's roll a perception roll. Let's look around the house to see if you find any potions. Everyone or just one? Twenty. Everyone if you like. Everyone just brought me better. Twenty-three. Potions, anyone? Come on, Phee. I thought you rode. Oh, oh. I got twenty. That's good. I got twenty-three. Was it plus five that season? I mean, usually. I did roll the highest. Does Darmonok really strike you as a type that's worried about healing people back up? Then how, actually yes, because I keep them alive longer?
Over and over again. It's the Una heal, torture, heal, torture recipe. If I don't find any potions, I demand to find the money. Kaluna is going to eventually spot two healing potions on a lone shelf by themselves. Okay. But that seems to be the only healing potions you spot in this entire place. That's good. So divvy those up however you'd like. Who wants the potions? Well, who do we think's gonna get hit? Bree's staying here, right? She is. She is not happy about it, but she's staying. Does that mean she's gonna follow behind us? Does that mean she actually is gonna stay like we fucking told her to this time?
She is not happy about it, but she said she'd stay. Someone tie her to a bed. Sit. Stay, Bree. Good Bree. Good Bree. Who's a good Bree? If you're good, we'll bring you back a treat. Look, it's Marcus's boss. Marcus's boss! Sorry Scott. So Kaluna and Fee both are a little bit weaker. Not by much, but just by a few hit points. Maybe the two of them just for a quick minor action or whatever it takes. Yeah. That's good. And they get up close too. I'm actually not sure where Kaluna goes, but I know Fee goes up close, so he should definitely have one. Kaluna likes to stay back, but if someone goes down, she can move.
It's a great place to stay, isn't it? Focus. One of my favorite places. Una goes up close and Fee goes up close. I think everyone else holds slightly back. But if he has a bunch of people, then it won't really matter who stays back, because there'll be people everywhere. I think if we get mobbed is what I'm thinking. We have two healers. I would give the potions to Jadzia and Fee, because they are the easiest to hit that aren't healers. Healers can heal themselves, and I've got land hands. But I think you guys should have the potions in a pinch, you know, if something bad is going down.
Okay. Cool beans. Alright, I'll add it. Unless, healers, you guys really want some. I'd add at least seven potions on my person at all times. It's in my contract. I also want six green M&Ms waiting for me when I get back to my trailer. Six green M&Ms. Not lime green, forest green. Ah, because you're a tree. Yup. Because you're a plant. Technically, limes are also a plant. Ballad. Do me a favor. Sorry, continue. Do me a favor, stop. Shut the fuck up. Do me a favor, everyone. Place your characters right in here. We're gonna stick close. Did Vallas follow us? Oh yeah. I forgot about him.
We didn't even consider giving him a potion. Fuck. He'll be fine. I'll probably shove it in his face again like last time. Alright, so everyone's on the board. Now, walking into this room, let me... Walking into this room. Everyone roll a perception check please. Twenty-eight. Twenty-five. Sixteen. Wow, you crit missed, Jason. Or Jesper. Yeah, I walked in backwards. There's no one behind these guys. Twenty-two for Vallas. Okay. So, let's see here. So, Kaluna and... Kaluna, Jatia, Fi... Wait, I noticed something. And Vallas. You are all going to walk into this room and there's this kind of anticipation building as you walk down this long hallway to get to the... get to the banquet hall.
This really big inn. And... As you kind of cross the threshold of the door, you can hear what sounds like a bunch of soldiers eating. Kind of just the, you know, plates and forks and knives, that kind of sound. And then you're going to spot Marcus. Across the room. And you're also going to see several Overwatch soldiers. Where are the Paladin buddies? They are outside of the inn. This is more in case someone runs. This is to make sure he doesn't get away type of thing. Okay, I'm okay with that. Stop adding people down. Also, I said cowards, so yes. Go ahead and take a shot, guys.
Okay. Alright, so... Marcus... Let's see, what did you roll there? Ah, Martin. Yeah. It's going to take... so you have gotten... okay. You have gotten the jump on these guys in terms that they don't know that there's an act of aggression coming their way. Now... That would mean that you could get a surprise round off. I will also say that... Marcus doesn't appear to know that you're there. So I don't know if you want to have words with him before this goes down or what, but... Just throwing it out there. We should try and... Intimidate the people. So that they are shitty at fighting.
And /or incapacitate Marcus so that we can kill him more horribly. Down the line a little bit. Okay. I feel like just cutting him down in battle is not that fun, you know? Well, I mean, we can always say non-lethal whenever we're hitting him. I have the chloroform thing still. I think Jadzia is going to aim to kill no matter what, but you guys do what you want. Okay, I mean, that's fair. He killed my dad. I would like to torture him to death, you know? I feel ya, I feel ya. Kill him in a way that's more painful than just dying in battle. Okay, if you said that before we walked in, then she'll do it.
I'm sure we spoke about this in the language. Girls at a slumber party. So... what are you going to do when you get a hug from Marcus? Well, tell her you want to paint your nails afterwards. You want to use his blood? Yes! Oh my god. OMG. Alright, so what exactly, what's the first action you're taking here? Do we have to roll for initiative? You're just attacking him? If you're going for the surprise realm. What do you guys want to do? Well, if you want to go for surprise, I can do a ranged crossbow attack. Did you still want to intimidate first? So either way, okay, there are one or two things you're trying to do.
You're either going to walk in the door and just start firing shots randomly at these people. They're like, "Oh shit, they were just eating breakfast. They were having pancakes and eggs and shit." And you just wander and it's like, "Bam, bam, bam." Or, you walk in and just start yelling at them to intimidate them. It's kind of one or the other. Okay, wait, can we do a surprise round and then as my action I use an intimidate? You'd be intimidating a single soldier. Is that more likely to work? I don't know, I like the intimidate idea. I think it fits us better.
Especially when they're honestly. What if I go first? Can I intimidate the group? So, okay, you're talking about basically walking in and barking at these people. Yeah, and then everyone else attacks. Giving a really scary speech about how if they don't leave, they're going to die. I could also do that. What action is it to use the chloroform? That's going to be your main action and you've got to be touching him. Ooh, question. Yeah. If we walk in and give some speech about, "You better leave, you're going to die otherwise." Because someone said in the chat that we need to roll a personal intimidate check for each soldier.
Does that mean that everyone else in the group can roll an intimidate check too? To personally look at one soldier and flip them off or something? What I'll say is this. If you want to walk in and give your speech and tell them, "Look, this is what's happening." What you're doing is rolling an intimidate check against each one of these guys. If you're walking in and addressing the group, fine. That's totally cool. You can do that. We'll see. It's basically a check against their will. I have to roll a separate check for each one? Yes. What do you think? Is that legit, guys?
I'm going to let you know that this is a fairly high check. These are elite guards. They're in charge of protecting the commander. These guys are high muckety mucks. These are trained soldiers. I do have a +17 to my intimidate. Who else has a high intimidate? Probably Phallus? Yes. Can he assist? Actually, okay. We can do this. He's standing next to Una when you're doing this. Phi, do you have a high intimidate? My intimidate is +9. Merrick, what about you? You have a pretty good diplomacy, right? Diplomacy is 13. So your intimidate is pretty high too? That's 8. I'm good at making it okay.
I'm not great at making somebody get into a fight. Let's do this. You can take one person with you to help you. Okay, I pick Phallus. What's his intimidate plus? Let me see here. 85. He has an intimidate of 15. Okay, let's do this. It's impossible for him to lose a check. Oh, wait, no. It's an assist. It wouldn't make a difference. It wouldn't make a difference, no. So, okay, Una's going to... It doesn't make a difference if a tiefling, a giant tiefling who smells like a rotting corpse helps me as opposed to a tree person. Helps intimidate people who are trained to hate tieflings.
So, okay. This group walks into this room and these people don't really notice you. I guess they're figuring you either work there or you're staying there or whatever. So Una's going to walk into the center of this room. You're going to take center stage here and Phallus will join you. I imagine... His default is to stand next to Jadzia. I imagine this is a thing where you're just like, "Hey, come on." Yeah. Alright. And what do you say to these people? Okay. Do I get a plus if I float and have sparks and electricity coming off of me? Okay, so you want to use...
I have a float power where I can fly places. Shit, let me see. Yeah, I know you got Windfury Assault. It's a different one. It's called Wind Step. "Encounter elemental minor action personal. Till the end of your next turn, you have a fly speed of 8 and can hover." You sure do. Okay. Okay. So I'm going to pull out my hammer and my shield. And rise up off the ground with sparks and wind. And lightning. So that's an attention. Yeah, a little bit. And... So fucking cool. If my eyes can just go all white, that'd be so cool. It probably doesn't like storm, but that'd be so cool.
So... Una's gonna... Roll a d20. Oh yes, please. Your eyes do indeed do. Yes! Oh, that is so fucking cool. Oh my god! Sorry, this is just so awesome. I am storm, guys. I'm storm. I even have the white fucking hair and... Well, she's black, but I'm tan. So Una's gonna say... "Attention, Overwatch soldiers. Now would be the best time to leave. We are here to kill Marcus Sauna. And if you stay, we will cut you down. You are defending a coward, and you are disgracing yourselves in the act. Leave now, or bleed." And intimidate. Okay, okay. Let's go down this list. Someone is breathing into their mic.
It's not me, honestly. Got really into it. I'm shaking a little bit. I'm nervous. I'm ready for this. So, Thales is going to go... Hold on before... Yeah. Thales is gonna go ahead and... He's gonna start readying the Kettenhund. So it's just... While you're doing this speech, he's gonna pull this fucking bear trap off of his hip. And just start like... Just kind of like pulling the length of chain, just like getting it ready. Just kind of like looking at these people. It's a pretty intimidating sight. So, 13. He'll be assisting you in that one. So that's 24. Can I get a plus for my floating?
My awesomeness? You're expending... What's that? An encounter power? Yeah. Let that have a plus one to your intimidate. Really? Plus one? For an encounter? Okay, but I also scored the one where my eyes glow. So maybe a little bit higher, like a plus two or three. Oh, for fuck's sake. Quit whining about everything. I'm gonna keep whining, thanks. Yeah, I know. We're used to it. Maybe? I'm just saying. It is an encounter power. That's all I'm saying. And I rolled the right number for the thoughts. Let's see here. Windstab... I'll give you a plus two for it. Okay. That's cool.
Okay, so that's a plus four. That's gonna be 26. Let's roll right down the line here. So these guards are all gonna kind of like snap to attention and be like, "Okay, that's a situation." Okay. So let's go from left to right here. Okay. Overwatch Soldier One at 26. That is going to intimidate him. Okay. Go ahead and roll... Jesus, that's a 19. Valus will be assisting in this one. Go ahead and roll for Overwatch Soldier Three. Yeah, he's dead. Well, not dead. No, no, no. Okay, so Valus didn't get that one. So go ahead and roll for Archer Number Two. 20... Yeah, that's not gonna quite do it.
Wait, I get the plus for all of these, right? Yes, you do. Yeah, but it's not gonna quite do it. So here's what we're gonna do. I'm gonna remove them as they are intimidated because they are going to leave. They're going to kind of like, "Okay, that is a site." "We are prepared for this party." And it's like, "Okay, we are not prepared for this." So Two's gonna stay. Valus is going to assist with the next one, so go ahead and roll. 29... Wow, Jesus. These are all kind of shitty rolls for me, too. Two, Valus is going to miss this next one, so go ahead and roll for Overwatch Soldier Five. 30...
Jesus Christ. That will do it for him. Valus is going to miss that one. Go ahead. Hahahaha, crit. He shits up and dies. This guy is just going to kind of hug the wall on the outside and just kind of like shimmy down the end of it and move around the party to get to the door. Jesus, One. Okay, go ahead. Roll again. That is not gonna quite do it. Oh, I just rolled a fucking D20. That was dumb. There we go. Intonate check. Okay, that is not going to quite do it, so Archer Number One is going to stay and Valus, okay, he is going to assist with this next one. 25...
That will do it for this last Soldier here and one more time, Valus won't be assisting with this one. 29... Okay. It's a 31. Yeah. Well, shit. That was worth it, guys. While they're doing the intimidate thing, can Fi settle up just behind Valus? I assume it was the intimidate taker. Well, okay, let's lock everybody in position right here, just because this is pretty much... The fight is starting. This is it. Yeah. So, do me a favor, everyone enroll initiative, unless anyone wants to say or do something before this would start. Well, I mean, besides, sidle up.
Six. Critmas. Do you want to add me again to the initiative? Oh, that's weird. Why aren't you? I'm in there once, but... Oh, yeah. Totally forgot about that. So, Jason, I also have an initiative issue, and that is... You rolled and it didn't take it? No, it actually took it, but I have a feat called prophetic action, which means I can roll initiative twice and take the better of the two rolls. And I'm not really sure how to do that here. Well, just go ahead and roll it and we'll adjust it manually if... Nope, I'm good. Okay. Valis, watch soldier. Okay. Marcus, you got to roll initiative too, man.
No, I don't. Okay. I haven't had a chance to say anything yet, that's all. Oh, okay. Okay. You guys are rolling initiative, so I stop. I'm going to tell my men to stand down. Okay. So, you're... Okay. You're just going to tell them... Don't. Right. I'm going to tell them to stand down. Okay. So... Cool. Okay. Okay. So, these guys are going to look confused. Like, "You sure?" Because they look like they want to fight. So, they're both kind of looking at you like, "Are you sure? That's what you want." Yeah. I need to pull one of them aside and give them a message. A real short message.
Sure. So, one of these archers are going to kind of come towards you. All right. And I'm going to say quietly to him, "Report back that I have failed and this town needs to be cleansed." And that's it. Are the poddens outside the door going to stop that guy? They let the other ones run. Yeah. Well, you don't know what's going on on the outside is the thing. So, okay. If the party... Okay. So, you're just basically going to try and send these guys on their way. Can we kill them? Well, you didn't kill the others. Yeah. But this one, I saw him give a message. Hmm.
I mean, it's up to you, really. Guys, should we kill him? You don't know what the message is. All you saw was me talk to him. So? Good point. Let's ask what the message is. All right. Report back to him. I will tell him that the message was, "Report back that I have failed." Don't you think your other men are going to report back that you failed? Yeah. Isn't that pretty obvious? I don't know where my other men are going to end up. They might be running out for the hills for all I know. Somebody needs to report back that I have failed. All right. So, you're just saying this out loud.
Is he trying to bluff us? That's not a bluff. That's the truth. I told you exactly. I told you what I said. Insight check? I mean, you can. I don't want to be that person, but like, it's Marcus, you know? Why has it ever stopped you before? Uh, should... Insight? Go ahead. Go ahead. Roll an insight check. It's fine. I don't know if it did. Oh, apparently I got it. Correct. So, yeah. Jesus Christ. That would seem like that's, yeah, like that's just on the face of it. Yeah. So, you're just telling these guys out loud, just like tell them to, you know, just report back.
Yeah. Okay. Is the party going to let these two go? Uh, but I could tell he was lying. No, it's not a lie. Like, he's just telling them to report back that he failed. That's all he's doing, apparently. I don't think we should let him go. Yeah, I don't think that sounds like a good idea. I mean, anything that would give us a disadvantage is not a good idea. Yeah. I don't see why it matters. Because a bunch of guys just saw all of our faces and we let them live. And they laughed. That's true. It's gonna get back to them, no matter what. If there's 80 troops outside the town, they're gonna come looking eventually to find out what happened.
Sure. Not that there won't be any issue of people figuring this out, but just the idea that Marcus is saying, you know, go report back and tell them, like, basically pull the trigger. This needs to be cleansed right now. That puts us at a very big disadvantage in terms of time. Like, that could be immediate. I didn't tell you guys that this needs to be cleansed. I told you guys that I told you. I mean, I'm trying not to, like, it's kind of hard to, like, you know, extract the meta from it. But at the same time, like, I do think, like, letting them go, you know, like, it would be better if they didn't just sprint straight back to Overwatch and tell them, you know, like, that he failed.
I think, like, buying us any time that we could possibly get is a good idea. So I think I would not let them go. Purely the fact that Marcus told them something, whereas obviously the other guys, it was Una saying, "Get the fuck out," and they just left. Purely the fact that Marcus said anything to them, it's like, "Yeah, we shouldn't let these guys go." Yeah, let's just not. Yeah, okay, let's kill him. Yep. So just say, "Sorry guys, we're not going to let you, we're not going to be able to let you go. Unfortunate that you threw in your lots with him." Well, I guess my question is, Marcus, are you going to fight back, or is this a thing where you're just...
There would be no point. Marcus can see the situation. I have yet again been abandoned by my troops. At this point, Marcus has lost all hope. Nobody will stand with him. In character, every time Marcus has gotten into a situation like this, his comrades have left. Maybe that's not the comrades' fault when it happens three times. Balance of probability and all. Well, these soldiers are going to... they're kind of put in an awkward spot because they can't leave, and staying seems like suicide. So they're going to... they're going to look at this group and just throw their weapons down.
And they're kind of hoping that you take them prisoner instead of just outright murder them. I'm okay with that. Yeah, absolutely. There's no reason to kill him if we can just take him prisoner. We have who we're coming for. They're just in the way, and it's not fair to make them suffer for it. I guess that just kind of leaves Marcus. Can we tie those guys up or some shit? If you want to pull them aside, they'll go where you tell them to go because you haven't outright murdered them. That's just kind of like, "Okay, if you tell them to stand in the corner, they will stand in the corner." I'll tell them to stand in the corner.
Or just point. Just kidding. Okay, so let's just say they're over... yeah, you have kind of sequestered them. So now there's Marcus. I'm going to... can I move over to Fi and Judzia? Or can I kind of beckon them up? I'll come over, yeah. I want to put my hands on their shoulders and just say, "This is all for you. Take your revenge." Judzia's going to look over at Marcus and, as calmly as she can manage, ask him, "Did you frame my father?" And she's going to say it very loudly so it echoes off the halls. Your father was a white raven. He deserved what he got.
Does he have to bluff check that? That's the truth. He doesn't know that. He thinks he framed him. No, I know he's a white raven. I was told that. By who? Heirlove and Mason when they found out from the call. Oh, that's true. You did, yeah. Just make it true, yeah. That's not what I asked. That's true. It's not what you asked. "Did you frame my father?" Yes. Let's kill him. I turned the letter over and got him hung instead of tortured. Let's just start killing him. Start killing him? Okay, Judzia, you want to do a fireball or some shit? Is he not going to fight back?
Am I just going to outright murder him right now? It's been established if someone doesn't fight back, they just die. That's pretty much it. It's a bit anticlimactic to have you roll several times if he's not going to defend himself. It's the same rules we use for Thoril. Yeah, then Jadzi would be getting the killing blow on Marcus. Do you guys want to join hands and do the end together? I know she's going to activate Hellfire Touch so that her hands glow with flame. And then she will throw Frigid Darkness at him, which does damage. Just like this ball of black darkness is going to fly straight at his chest.
This is going to strike Marcus Sanic in the chest and he is going to slam against the wall behind him. It's going to make this really solid thud. And it's going to rattle some knick-knacks and pictures and things off the wall that are used to decorate this big banquet hall. And he is going to hit the wall and then slide down it. Would you like to take Marcus Sanic's soul? No. I only got one spot left and I have too many souls that I can't let go of. You sure you don't want to give it to a demon or something? I only got one spot left and I'm saving it for Christmas.
No. She's not going to take his soul. Ladies and gentlemen, Marcus Sanic has just been murdered. Scott, it was a pleasure to play with you. I just want to say that. I know bad blood and everything because you were Marcus, but that was legit, sir. Well, I got to play the character to the end and that's how he would have done it. I'm so glad I got to kill some guys. You know what? Had those guys not been intimidated and gone running away, there would have been a fight. I had not planned on surrendering. So can I walk over to those guys in the corner? And slip over?
Yes. So these guys are just shitting themselves. As you approach them, it's just kind of, "Okay." I want to go over and put my hands on their shoulders. There's like three of them. That's impressive. There's two, I think. I guess that's kind of scary, considering my hands look like they're dripping blood, but whatever. Oh, scary ship. That left town. That's, yeah. And I'm going to say, "You need to tell me every single thing that he told you." That's an intimidate check. Go ahead and roll a plus two on that. Oops, I forgot to do the plus two, but it doesn't matter.
Thirty-four. Okay, canonically, just to make sure. Now, originally you said that they were to flee back to the Overwatch and report that you had failed and the town needed to be razed, correct? Now, this is Scott. Now, you changed that and said that you said that out loud. Now, is that... That is all that you said to them, is my understanding. Correct. Okay, so there was no mention of the town being razed. So you weren't lying. No, I wasn't lying, but I didn't tell the whole thing. I did tell them to cleanse this town. Oh, well then, okay, that's my confusing...
Una would have seen that then. Because she had a huge insight check that she would have known that there would have been something hidden. She got a crit. Right, so she absolutely would have known that. I'm sorry, that's my mistake. I thought that you changed it and said that that's what you said. Okay, my fault. Because I saw that in the chat and I wanted to clarify. Okay, so these guys are gonna start... They're just gonna tell you exactly what Marcus told them and... Kind of gravelly, kind of like, just look, we're just following orders. Just don't... You don't need to kill us.
We can just... You can take us prisoner if you like. Just don't kill us. Look, you're kind of being little bitches right now. Fuck the fuck up. You fought for an asshole. The city you fight for is run by horrible fucking people. Are you really... If I release you, are you gonna go back and tell them to cleanse this town? And these two guys are gonna look at each other and then look at you and kind of like very subtly shake their heads no. No, we... I promise, we won't. Do we believe them? Side check. Go ahead. That appears to you to be on the level. I'm gonna turn around and look at Fi and just kind of like raise an eyebrow.
Fi is looking over at Marcus's body so he would not see that. Okay. I should probably let him do his thing. I guess I'll just turn around to the group and say, "What do you want to do with these guys?" They said that Marcus told them to cleanse this city. Well, it's likely inevitable anyway that this is... It's what's going to fall on Esterholt, right? I mean, ultimately, it may buy us some time for us to keep them around, but it's not like this word's not gonna get out. It's not like this isn't going to be understood very, very quickly. So just leave them be.
Just let them run. Are they planning to go back to Overwatch? In character, she asked. Does it matter? Well, we can give them a message if they're going back. True. What message would you like them to deliver? Don't fuck with Esterholt. No, just kidding. Actually, I think... Something along those lines. Can we chop off Marcus's head? Oh shit. I suppose you could. I'm gonna turn around and say, "Anybody mind if I take his head?" He says, "I want that job." Una will bow and do a sweeping arm motion towards all yours. So, yeah, Fi will go over to Marcus, Marcus's body.
When he gets here, he's gonna kick him in the chest, and then he's gonna proceed to cut off his head. And he's gonna throw the head back towards the... ...between Una and the Overwatch archers, and then he's just gonna loot Marcus's body. Okay. This got heavy. How do you chop off a head with a hammer with determination? Anything is possible with a hammer, guys. The hammer is my penis. It just takes a little longer. You use the end of it, like the handle, and you just stab, stab, stab, stab, stab. If the hammer is small enough, you can just smash his throat enough to where it's like a pulp, and then you can separate it.
Jesus, he's gotta pick through it. What is... This is a bit of head, this is a bit of neck, this is a bit of neck. Remember when everyone was calling me cute? Now they're calling us assholes and disrespectful. Sorry, I didn't mean to sound so quick. This is why I said no. I'm just saying, in character. Joxie asked him if he got the father killed. He said yes. She murdered him. He had a camera. The only thing... The only thing of value, gold-wise, on Marcus was 30 gold pieces. It's more than I have. So, split that with a group, I guess. And you're doing what with his head?
Throwing it across the room, back towards... At the two guys. He's juggling it across the room, right? And you're asking them to take that back with them. Well, I'm just chucking it back towards them. And he's like, "Cut it off." I'm gonna pick up the head. Does Marcus have hair? Okay, I'll pick it up by the hair, because I don't want to get the juices all over me. You're gonna hack my head off with a hammer, but you don't want to get juice on it? No, if you cut it off with a sword. Oh. No, I said you were going to, but you don't want to get blood on yourself?
Well, if you can be neat, be neat, you know? Hygiene. So I'll pick it up by the hair. And I'll just kind of press it gently in one of the guys' chests. Just like, "Here, take this." And I'll say, "Go back to Overwatch. Tell them that Una, Fi, and Jadzia killed Marcus Sanna. Tell them that we let every single other Overwatch soldier go unharmed. This has nothing to do with Esther Holt. This was a personal matter that we have now solved. Sound okay? Fair enough?" Both of them are kind of aggressively going to shake their heads, yeah. Because clearly, you guys are not fucking around.
Cool. I'll pat them on the shoulders and say, "Okay, thank you for doing the right thing." And they're going to go ahead and take this head and scurry out of this room as quickly as humanly fucking possible. So, wow. Marcus is now dead. You guys have essentially been deputized in Esther Holt. You're going to be working with Craig, but you kind of have free reign to try and clean up the city as best you can without going on a complete rampage. So, how would you like this to play out? What would you like to do? You're leaving this in, I would imagine, letting someone know what happened?
Let's see what the paladins are doing outside, I guess? Yeah, let's go do that. Okay. Leaving the building, you can see that there are a group of 15 paladins out here. Kind of ranging from newish recruits to some more seasoned soldiers. And what they've kind of done is surround the front of the building. So, around the entrance, they've just kind of formed this half, like this horseshoe around the front of the building. And they've kind of corralled anyone who's run out of the front. And they're kind of weapons drawn and ready to go. So, as you're leaving the building, you're running into the same Overwatch soldiers who fled from that banquet area.
So, I don't know how you'd like to handle that. Did they just see the other two archers flee carrying Marcus' head? Yes, they just kind of wandered out. The two archers are trying to explain to them, "No, no, no, we were told to go. We were told to just..." Yeah. So, it's pretty much up to you. What do you guys want to do? Would the group that fled, or just in general? With the group that's outside that's sort of been corralled up, I feel like, you know, we have an overall problem with the Overwatch and what's going on. But our fight today was for you, and it was about Marcus.
So, you know what? It's kind of the same situation as it was in there with the other two. It's like, you know what? Get out of here. Right? Okay. Cool. Cool. This wasn't about you, and if that's really how we feel about it, then let's not make it about them at all. Cool. Okay, so I'll just go up to the paladins and say, "Let them run. We have greater things to attend to. There's still an army of them camped outside the city. We need to go and tell them that Esther Holt will not bend to their will." So you're just telling that to these paladins? Yeah. So they're going to, they're just going to kind of let them go.
They're going to spread apart and let them go. These Overwatch soldiers are going to kind of run for the hills. They're just going to take off. So with no one stopping them, they're going to just flee the city. Just run back down the street and just flee. What would you guys like to do next? Basically what I'm asking is, is there anything roleplay-wise you guys would like to wrap up? Is there anything that you feel like there needs to be said before we wrap up the session for today? So he wants to go over to Jadzia. Yeah, so he's going to go over to Jadzia, put his hand on her shoulder and say, "I'm glad that you took that kill.
I feel that you deserve it more than I did. I grew up with my mother for many years. It's a shame that you didn't get the time to bond with your dad that you should have." And then he's going to give her a hug. Oh my goodness. That was so cute. So Jadzia's lip is kind of quivering like mine is in real life right now. And hug him back and be like, "He hurt us both. I'm just glad he's gone. Thank you." That's okay. Kaluna wants to join the hug. She doesn't know what's going on, but she feels like she should join in. Merrick is going to grab Kaluna on her way and just like, "No, no, no, not now.
No, no, no, no." It says boundary issues. Don't hug her. That's your friend. "I'm just trying to help. I'm not being rude. Not right now. This isn't the time." Kaluna will look back to Jadzia and Phee and then back to Merrick and she'll just sort of look apologetic. Like, "Oh, my bad." If that's it for everyone, I think that's a good time for us to stop for the night. Yeah. What we're going to do is the next session, you guys are going to begin to start cleaning up Esterhold. Damn straight. So thank you very much everyone for sitting down and we are going to get ready and transfer into inspectors very soon.
So I'm going to start cycling out the people who are going to be tagging out for a while. Let me see. Bree and Jamie are going to stay and I'm bringing in Tom and Xavier and I think that's it. You keep forgetting your own brother. And Justin. It's like the third or fourth time. It's not the third or fourth time. If you count in the actual video where we're preparing for this as well, it is the third time. Fourth time. I choose not to count then. I do. If anyone wants to play Minecraft, I'll probably be on the Minecraft server. But yeah. I guess I'll see you later for GMT, Jason.
Yes, ma'am. Thank you everybody. That was fun. Thanks everybody. Thank you guys. See you guys soon. I'm waving. I was actually waving. That's weird. Bye. Bye.
