Hey guys, it's Brian, and I play Semita Stronghold, a dwarven warpriest. And Jamie. Hello, my name is Jamie Richardson, and tonight I will be playing Kori, Forest Keeper, a goliath seeker. And Danielle. Hi guys, it's Danielle Phelps, I play Trixie, the Drow Rogue. And James.
Hey, it's James, I play Dagon, Arkanscape, the Eladrin Scion. And Xavier. Hey, I'm Xavier, I'm playing Actaronis Athanasius, the Revenant Cavalier. Did I introduce Rob? I'm blanking here. I didn't introduce Rob, did I? I don't remember talking. Oh, okay. And Rob! We'll just edit that in like I remembered everything. Ooh, that's awkward. I'm Robin Zaland, I'm playing Haven Tash, an Avenger of Aerithis. I should, I, okay, I've gotten no sleep. I'm just, it's not because I forgot you existed, Rob, I swear. No, hey, I'm wiped out, Zuman, we'll power through. Just to start things off, everyone roll, well, everyone roll a Perception check for me, please.
Before we jump into the recap and everything. Because we're going to need a recap, because the last Gratitude episode was a bit ago. Mmm. 21. Not one. I remember there was a creature from Lust and we never mentioned it again. [Laughter] I love you, Xavier. Love you all, especially Brian. Let's see here, who's going to notice this? Dagon and Sevetus. Dagon, Sevetus, and Cory. So, okay, last time on the show you guys were charging back into the Silverglade to either find your friends or avenge them. As it turns out, both Baranath and Rikas were slain by Trevor and the Pack.
Pack of werewolves, if you at home didn't remember. You did manage to find Trixie, who was very much still alive and surviving in the Silverglade, although she had to spend the night there and that was probably a little traumatic. So you managed to track down Trevor and confront them and you managed to kill him. You killed Trevor. Unfortunately, in the process, Haven was bitten. Not once, but a couple of times. So there's going to be complications due to that. And as of now, Sevetus, Cory, and Dagon would have realized that he's been bitten in the melee.
It would have dawned on them what that entails. I was wondering, because I was like, "Haven got a 32 and then I was like, 'Oh, wait, he knows he got a 32.'" Well, he would definitely know. Right, he would totally know. But that's also dawned on Haven, because it is not lost on him that you were fighting werewolves and being bitten by werewolves is not great. So, I guess my first question would be, how would you guys like to handle that situation? Well, I think the seven is-- Somebody needs to heal check. I can do a heal check. I got a 16. So, at least ease the pain, 20.
Yeah, absolutely. That'll be fine. So, Haven, you can spend some healing surges and get back up to full. Do I have any of those left? Let's see. Oh, God, do you? Yeah, you took a lumping on the last-- I've got some. Yeah, you got a couple left. You got a few. Yeah. Yeah, I guess we're taking a short rest and-- I would imagine, yeah. Just bump that HP up. Yeah, Actoron has took a beating too, but he does not fall down easy. So, I got a couple healing surges left. He's sturdy. So, bitten teammate. You kind of have a choice to make. Some would say that the humane thing to do would be to put him down.
That doesn't seem like group two style, but I got to ask, yeah, how do you want to handle this situation? Well, I think Seven is going to at least kind of like look over. Is it like how much armor and stuff, like how visible are the bites to the outsider? Do we have to peel back like robes or like armor or anything like that? Well, at one point, Haven was bitten in the throat. Like he was bitten near the neck area. Oh, okay. So, pretty, pretty noticeable. Also, he's in cloth armor, so. Oh, God. So, how are you? How does the curse work? Is it like in saliva or-- Actually, it's kind of a mystery how it's transferred.
It's just--because it's not like vampirism. It's not a disease. It's a curse. There's some sort of magical property to it. There's just no known cure, at least to most of the world. There's--it's not a guaranteed thing for the most part. If you're bitten once, some people contract it, some people don't. The problem is Haven was bitten by a really powerful werewolf and bitten multiple times. So, the smart money is on his--yeah, he's a werewolf. Can't suck it out like snake venom. No. You can try. If you want to, you can suck on Haven. Can I roll a nature check to see if Cory might know any homeopathic remedy type things from her homeland of sorts?
You sure can. I love how no one's actually starting a conversation with Haven. It's just--I imagine this like series, this like line of party members all awkwardly rubbing their necks and just being-- Well, yeah, I don't know about it yet. Sucks, bro. I think they're all searching their collective memories. It's like, "Do I know any way to unfuck him?" Just pretending to be talking on my phone. Yeah. Cory would not know of any herb or plant life that could counteract lycanthropy. Sorry, bro. Would I be able to take--well, I'm gonna roll anyway because I accidentally clicked on it.
Okay. Because I had a plus 11 for nature. So, probably wouldn't do much more of a difference. Cory has a plus 20 for nature? Mm-hmm. Holy shit. Yep, Sevetys is coming up at a blank too. How do you feel, Haven? I know what you're all thinking and you don't have to worry about it. We're going to go back to the town, I'm going to get my affairs in order, and then I'm going to have myself disposed of. Let's get this over with. We can't take you back to the town. They'll kill you. Oh, we can certainly bring him back to town. This man's a hero right now and we're not putting you down either.
If anything, I'm gonna stick with you until we find a solution for this. That does not include chopping your head off. I don't think that... I've been thinking a little bit since, well, walking in this forest. And this town's werewolf problem isn't over quite yet, but it's not through fighting that they're going to be ending it anytime soon. I think what this town needs is a scholar or an expert. Someone who has some knowledge that we don't have that could help prevent it further or reverse... ...revert this curse that I'm not familiar with. And if we can find one such person and bring it back to the town afterwards, our work here will be full and complete.
And this town's problem will be over. What I'm saying is that we might want to travel to someplace like the Flying City or somewhere with a large library or scholars. Anyone? You, anybody in the party who would like can roll a history check and I will give you a list of options for something like that. I think that's Dagon's biz, right? I got an 18. He's 17. Hey! Oh, Dagon. Dagon's walked these lands. Fingers crossed. And he's dead. He travels. Gross. I worded differently. Sure. Dagon's done a bit of walking. There we go. That just happened to coincide with the landscape.
Uminero is absolutely an option as they have the largest collection of arcane knowledge in Theria. Another option would be you could go to Brightport. As far as all of you know, well, some of the people in the party would know, the former House Darksbane had a pretty sizable collection of arcane tomes and they may actually have some knowledge on the curse. Another way to go would be Aubrey. Because they've had a similar problem with vampires, it's completely possible that they would have some knowledge of a way to either fight the werewolves that you wouldn't be privy to or perhaps some knowledge on a cure or a lead, something to that effect.
Another thing you could do is hire a grouping of shield hands or a monster slayer, something like that. You guys would know about Liara, she's got quite the reputation. So those are all options. Dagon will walk up to Haven and say, "Haven, you've helped us tremendously thus far and we're not about to abandon you. Wolf-fighter not? There are places we could take you and I'm sure we can find some help. Of course it is up to you, but I wouldn't let go just yet." I appreciate that Dagon, but I'm also a danger to everything I hold dear to every mission that I care about in life.
We will figure out what we need to do at the town as far as closing this issue with the werewolves that we handled and then I will see to tying up all of the loose ends. Now let's walk. I'm just gonna cut Haven as he's starting to walk and extend my hand for a firm handshake. I'm just gonna tell him, "I made a solemn promise, Haven, that you will not die before I do." Haven just kind of comes to a halt and just kind of looks at him. "We'll see if you have a choice in the matter. Come on, let's go." Now, you are traveling back to Lockford. Now, is there anything anyone wants to talk about before we actually get back to town?
Oh, another question. If I recall correctly, Trixie cut Trevor's head off. Are you bringing that with you or was that more just a "fuck you"? Oh, no, I'm bringing it with me. Yeah. I'm gonna wrap it in something in case it might offend people who were close to him, but I'm bringing it with me. Okay. It's also proof of payment in a way. Yeah. That's true. I don't know if I'd believe you if you said, "Yeah, I totally killed him." Like, yeah. Are Haven's bites highly visible? Well, he's been healed, so I mean, there'd be a scar, but it's not like it's an open wound or something.
I mean, as long as he covered it up a little bit, he could hide it. Sure. Yeah, I suspect I have everything wrapped if we've gone as far as making a heal check. Yeah. Okay. Rob, let me ask you a question. Have you heard the new Group 3 episode, the last one, where Merrick had a bit of an episode with werewolfism? I have not. Okay. Would you like me to explain the rules? Sure. Okay. From time to time, when Haven is entered into a situation where he gets stressed or hurt or any time that I feel like there'd be a check necessary, I'm gonna have you roll an endurance check.
Now, the difficulty check is gonna go up depending on how dire the circumstances are. If you notice some goons harassing you in a bar and trying to get under your skin, a la like the Incredible Hulk, then the check is gonna be pretty low. If you're surrounded and bloodied and continue to get beaten, that check's gonna be pretty high. You roll an endurance check and you pass it, then you kind of quell the beast within and you're fine until the next time that something happens. If you don't, you're gonna wolf out. Okay, if you wolf out, obviously your regular old Haven is going to be replaced with Wolf Haven.
When you're a wolf, every turn you're gonna make what boils down to a saving throw. You're just gonna roll a flat d20. If you succeed, you gain control of Wolf Haven for that turn. If you fail, I gain control of Wolf Haven for that turn. You can guess what happens if I get control of him. So, that is to simulate you from moment to moment, you could lash out at a teammate or an enemy. There's also something called frenzy, where when you roll, if you were to, let's say, get a nat 20, you get to attack every enemy in a burst 2 around Haven for free. That's you just freaking out and just clawing.
You get a flat out claw attack against everybody in a burst 2. If you nat 1, then it's all your allies in a burst 2. Let's hope I'm not too close to those. Right. Go ahead, Jamie. Well, I was gonna just ask, when he wolfs out, and then after the encounter, does he have to do a check to see if he calms back down, or is there anything we can help do to influence him calming down, or is it just a thing that kind of just naturally happens? There's two things you can do. One, you can knock him out. Or try to. That is a way to do it. I'm just kidding. That's one way.
You can bludgeon him until he's unconscious. Now that's one way. The other way is when he gets control of Wolf Haven, like you, he has the option to spend his turn rolling an endurance check to try and calm down. That is him being aware of his surroundings, but kind of like partially snapping out of it enough to substitute an attack, and just try to segregate himself away from the party and try to get control of himself. The other thing you can do is just flat out, you know, when you're a werewolf, you get all those cool powers that those werewolves had that were kicking your ass so thoroughly.
So you get throat rip and pounce and claw and all that cool stuff. The problem is you don't know from turn to turn whether you're going to remain in control of those cool things. So it's a risk/reward type thing. You can be a huge boon and asset to your team or the thing that murders everyone. I have a string of questions. Hit me with them. Really quickly, is this automatic, like the second he gets bitten he's a werewolf, or is there a turning process where it's going to come in stages as to his full on wolf-outiness? You are not sure yet. I feel like we were told that Trevor took a couple weeks or longer before he truly turned.
He lost himself completely is what happened in those couple of weeks. It wasn't that he didn't have wolf-outs, it was that he completely lost himself and just stayed a wolf. #wolfout Is the silver thing, does that work in the Therian wolf? Yes. If Haven were to keep that on him and use it to calm down his wolf, would he get a sort of bonus or something if he was to clasp it in his hands and burn himself or whatever? Well, okay. Firstly, it would have two things. One, all that does is stop his regeneration because by the way, when you're a werewolf you regenerate health every round just like they did.
Right. It's not like a vampire cross type of thing, it's more like you stab him with silver and it stops. Yeah, that has nothing to do with repelling actual werewolves or anything, it hurts them and they can't regenerate health. Okay. He'll also gain crazy reflexes and speed, which again will enable him to get to enemies very quickly or potentially allies maybe. So that's basically the gist of it. So like we were saying in the chat, I think we want to split the party up and have Haven not go in the city just in case the town were to see his bite marks and decide that they remember that they hate werewolves.
Does anyone want to suggest that in character? I know Kori would want to stay behind with you so she'll probably suggest it. I guess right outside the city gates she would probably say something to the whole group and say the town isn't going to look upon this very well if they find out that Haven's been bitten. We need to stay outside here, you guys deal with the business and we'll just wait for you. Haven kind of looks at the town from where he's standing and he nods and he says, "She's right, I'll stay here." And he kind of just slumps against a tree, slides down and sits.
I'll watch after him. Would you want anybody else to stay along? Because I don't really have an agenda in the city so I can stay back too. Alright, well then Trixie, Dagon and I can do it and make it swiftly and come back. No need to stay for too long. So I'm assuming you're taking the head to Oren who is the town's mayor. Trixie wanted to do that, right? What, just go to the mayor directly? What did you want to do with the head? I don't know. Still daytime, right? Make a punch bowl. It was going to be on a stake somewhere that you could look at it every now and then but I guess we'd have to have a place that we call home first.
Well you had one. We can take it. Okay, too soon apparently, Jason. Yeah, I know. That fell flat. Cold silence. I never called that place home. Never speak of that again. That was someone else's home. And the train leaves the station. Okay, okay. Yeah, we could at least demand some kind of money or something for this thing. Oh, we were offered money. What's that dude's name? The first contact? I got left out in the forest, thank you. I was stuck out there. Oren would definitely pay you. Then let's go to Oren. Yeah, I had a good vibe with that guy. Before we go, I just want to turn to Haven and just say think about where we're going after this.
You're not done yet. Haven doesn't make eye contact but he just nods. Okay. Alright, so going to visit Oren. He's still in his little office here. He's kind of puttering away and he sees you coming and you can kind of see him visibly perk up here. Because, well, one, he didn't really have any contact with you business-wise. It was Haven. But he could see that you're alive, which is like he did get a chance to meet you. He does see that you're alive, which is a promising thing. And it looks like you guys have been through a scuffle. So he's going to kind of perk up as you're walking in.
And he's going to see that you're carrying something. And that's the first thing, like after he kind of assesses all of you, his eyes are going to shift down. How did you make out? Is there a table anywhere? Like near him? Well, he has a desk. Oh. Then I just walk up very quietly, staring at him, not blinking, and slam it down on the table and just let the rags fall out so all he could see is the head. So this blood-coated, oozy, werewolf head, sizable werewolf head, is just going to kind of clutter up his desk and knock things over. And he's just going to kind of look down at that, and then back up at Trixie, and then back down at the head.
Okay. Pardon my friend's manners. She's been through a lot. She's been staying the whole night with these werewolves. I think talking business is in order right now. Oren's going to kind of hold up his hands. No apology necessary. I completely understand. I'm honestly surprised you're alive if you spent all night in the forest. You were attacked by him directly? He attacked everybody. Just some of us went back for more. My friend Trixie here, she survived an encounter twice. I'm very sorry to hear that your friends didn't make it out then. The least I can do is pay you for this incredible good deed that you've done our town.
I can't thank you enough. Without Trevor, things should return to normal around here. I don't think the pack's going to be bothering the town directly anymore. I'm going to step forward and interrupt him at that moment. This problem is not over, sir, and I would appreciate it if in the future you don't rely on strangers anymore to solve your werewolf problem. What we did today is just open a window for you to act. What we're going to do... One of our friends had a bigger problem than we did in this encounter, and we are going to go and try to find a solution to revert what could happen in the worst situation.
What I'm suggesting to you right now is that after we are done with that person, you will hire that person. Give that person a salary, if you must, to keep him or her in town. So that this never happens again. So that you take care of that problem by the root and not just by the great hunt. Keep doing the great hunt if you must, but that is not the solution. You understand we're not a rich town. If it were as simple as throwing money at the problem, we would. Our economy is taking a bit of a hit because of the constant attacks. If that's not going to be a problem in the near future, we could start to rebuild.
I don't intend to let this get worse. Treksy steps forward and slams her hand down on the desk and leans over the head and looks him square in the eye and says, "You are living on borrowed time. We are not going to stay here and fight your battle. You only have a short amount of time before they realize that they can come back and get you. So you do what is necessary to keep your town safe because we are not your bodyguards." So, the man is going to take that in. He's going to look ashamed. He's going to cast his eyes down. "You're absolutely right. I'm sorry if you were deceived in town.
I'm especially sorry that you lost companions. I'm going to do everything in my power to make that up to you in any way I can. Again, for starters, I can at least pay you for this incredible thing that you've accomplished. So, if you give me a moment, I can go get your payment." I have a suggestion. I'm not speaking for my brothers and sisters in arms here, but I'm not doing this for the money. And if I may, there's another way to pay, and it's paying forward. I'd like three things of you in the future. If you see someone that you can help with the best of your abilities, anyone, don't wait to be asked for help.
Go on and help them. And in turn, you will ask them to do the same. And if everyone in this town does this, money won't be a problem. Money won't be the currency. Secondly, well, we'll be getting that scholar soon, so that's not a problem. And secondly, I'd like you to inspire the citizens of this town with what my friends and I accomplished today. Tell the story. Inspire people with the story of Actoronus Idwal Athanasius, who came from Onikal, from the legendary Athanasius family, with his friends, who saved the day, but then who let it in your hands to do just the same.
Trixie turns around and just looks at him like, "What the hell? Who are you?" Take my share of the bounty and give that to this scholar we're going to bring in, if we do that. Give my friends the money they want, though, but do whatever you please with my share. Dagon's going to roll his eyes. Can we please get on with this payment? Uh, yeah. Let me just... I'll be right back. Like, he's just kind of like, "Uh, okay." So, Oren's going to walk to the opposite end of the room, and he has this lockbox type of thing. And after a few moments of digging around in it, he is going to produce a small sack that is making a very familiar kind of gold-rattling sound.
And he's going to return and kind of offer the bag to Trixie. That's about 2,000 gold. That's the most I can spare right now. But if you and your group come back through at a certain point, I'm sure I can try and get you some more. Trixie reaches out and snatches the bag, but shakes his hand. She throws it to Dagon and turns around and glares at Octoronus and says, "If you decide to take his story to the masses, he wasn't the only guardian of this town. We did it together." And just make sure your people know that we saved them this one time, and it's up to you to do it again.
And then she storms out. What about everybody else? I could take a moment with Corey and Sevetus back at the other crew. Yeah, I was going to say I wanted to try and talk to Haven if that's alright. Sure. Haven's kind of just staring at the town from a distance without really making eye contact with either of them. He just says, "Do you know how I got started in politics?" I was a building inspector. I remember this one time, there was this merchant. He had this stone archway on his property. The thing was a crumbling mess. And I was going to cite him for it.
He begged me and begged me and said the money hadn't been coming in lately, but that he'd repair it as soon as possible. He just needed an extension. He just needed a little more time. And I looked the archway over again. It was in bad shape, but technically just right there on the cusp of in code. So I said, "Okay." So I gave him documentation and said, "You know, another 30 days." And I came back and checked on it. And it was going to be perfectly fine if undisturbed. But next thing you know, a week down the line, Aaron Horsecart, the drunk on it, plows into the thing, shakes it loose, crumbles, collapses right on the cusp.
I had done things technically within the law and within my position as they should have been. I was, like I said, on the cusp, but at the same time, can't help but think about how, can't always keep the eye toward giving everybody the mercy of the time. There's a place for law. There's a place for order. And though inflexible, it sometimes is. You've got to tie up the loose ends. I can't even walk into a town now. And he picks up a little stone beside him and just throws it as though it's the closest he can get, tips his head back down. Corey is going to look right at him like blank-faced and ask, "What is your goddess?
What are her thoughts on suicide?" Aerithis is a goddess of creation, order, and civilization. On the one hand, that demands the rule of law. On the other hand, what is a civilized society without innocent until proven guilty? Are you not innocent, Haven? For now. For now. But do I keep myself around? Do I let this hazard fester? You know, no amount of innocent until proven guilty will be of comfort to any of you should I accidentally kill you. I would say that if you were to tie your loose ends, which seems to be your intention, you would be taking along to your own hands of vigilante justice.
And if you feel like that is going to gain you favor with your goddess, I mean, it is in your hands, but just because you think of yourself as a monster doesn't mean that's what you have to be. Haven looks at her for a moment and nods and says, "Thus my impasse. Unfit to walk into the very place that I'm supposed to serve. Ill-suited for the work of the very goddess I serve. And yet the selfishness of ending my suffering is still readily apparent." Oh, what a mess. What a mess. The entire time that Corey and Haven are talking, Sevetus is just, he's not too far away, but he's just visibly enough away that he's just not paying attention to it.
And he's just kind of rolling his eyes and just kind of shaking his head because he's, he doesn't like what he's hearing. But he's just like, he's, he just doesn't agree with what he's actually heard from either of them so far. So you're of the opinion, you said you're like physically shaking your head and stuff? Yeah, just kind of like really like, I'm have to listen to this type of like rolling his eyes and stuff like that. Well, we're in a tied vote, dwarf. What's your angle? Sevetus is just going to walk over and just kind of bounce his eyes between Corey and Haven while he's talking and just say, "Personally, I think if you're of the opinion that you'll solve this by tying up whatever loose ends you have and then offing yourself, I think that's incredibly weak minded.
My opinion is real simple. I would love nothing more than to smash your head open because I like to hit stuff. I like to hit stuff really hard. But I think it's incredibly short minded that as long as you're able to walk and talk and think regardless of circumstances that might come up, as long as you have the will to fight and the will to still be the person that you were before this, I think it's incredibly short minded, incredibly weak to even think about taking your own life. My vote is that you suck it up and you realize that everybody's going to have 100 foot walls in front of them.
And it's not about if you go around one side or go around the other, but whether or not you can make it straight through. And I think you can. Haven stands up and pushes away from his tree for a moment and he just walks a little closer to Sevetus for a moment and he says, "See how you feel when you're told that you're going to turn into a monster that tries to destroy everything you stand for?" And then he just walks on by. Sevetus will just kind of like, I guess, let him walk by, but then just continue to shake his head just because he really doesn't believe what he actually heard.
So you mean like walks on by like leaves, like leaves us? Oh no, just kind of strolls over to take some distance and get off away from people, but still in sight. Okay. Corey's visibly angry, but then I think we can end scene. You said you guys wanted to go visit Shane? Yeah, let's pay him a visit. Okay. So if you remember... Hey, I forgot to say I took the head with me. Can I have it or no? I broke his desk with the head and then... I didn't really want to give it to him. It was just kind of a signal that I did it, but I kind of wanted to keep it. Maybe we could get it shrunken?
You know, might be a little cumbersome right now. Well, mummify it. I can mummify it somehow. Like a keychain type of thing. It's a ginormous keychain. I would fall over. Did you ever lose your keys? Did the head stay in wolf form or did it revert? Oh no, it's a wolf. You can get a pretty price for werewolf teeth. You know, poaching in the werewolf community has been a rare problem. I have werewolf. Yes, you can totally take it with you. I mean, the town has no need for it. Do I need to storm back in there very childish-like and snatch it off the desk and walk back in there?
And give me this thing too. I'm taking my werewolf head. I forgot my head. I would say that... Let's just say that you took it with you. Again, they don't need it. This is more a thing that, you know... I don't know if they'd use it like a trophy or something. Like they didn't bail over, like, "Hey, look at the head!" But, you know... I kind of want to give it. You are the Ripper, Terror, Gouger. So, okay. So, Trixie is still carrying around Trevor's head. Why in a bag? Yeah, you know, whatevs. In some rags? Come on, now. You don't have bags yet. Not like that. So this should be nice and traumatizing for Shane.
So, okay, you are taking the head of his werewolf son... I didn't say I was going to give it to him or even show him. I'm just going to happen to be carrying it. You don't think it's going to come off? What's that bloody bag you're holding? Yeah, while we're walking, I'm just making sure Trixie is not going to show him right away. Just like, "Can I show the bag?" It depends on Shane's mood. I'm not planning on it. I'll keep it behind my back or something. Just in case. I'll stand in the back of the room. Steady plap, plap, plap of blood dripping. Just don't leave me out of the conversation, guys.
I'm still back here. I might throw a head. You never know. Alright, so visiting Shane. If you remember, his house is kind of dilapidated a little bit. Kind of in rough shape. But then again, so is Shane. So who's going to be knocking on the door here? Knock, knock, knock. Okay. I'm going to take that to Actoronus. Just out on a limb. It's Actoronus. Shane is going to fling open the door. And kind of just stare, well, not in the eyes, but just the vacant darkness where I should be in his huge fucking helmet. What do you want? The deed is done. And he's going to kind of straighten up.
What do you mean it's done? Trevor is dead. Roll an insight check for me, please. Oh boy. I don't think Actoronus is very high. Well, you know, 23. Very nice. There's a look that's going to come across Shane's face, and it's kind of a look of relief/remorse that he's not going to be bothering the town anymore. But it was his son, even though they didn't get along. It's a really complicated, messy string of emotions he's going through right now. It is not only okay, but it is best for you to grieve, sir. I know you were not looking eye to eye, but I know that family is sacred.
And there is something that a bond between a father and his son, even though disappointment, failure can come between a father and his son, nothing can come between the love a father has for his son. The only thing you can do for him now is go through that grieving, and this is only your display of affection. Do not be ashamed for it, but you can now rest easily. I'm sorry it had to come to this. I'm just going to look over at Dagon and Trixie. Dagon's going to keep quiet. Trixie just looks at him but doesn't say a word. She is holding a head behind her back and all.
Shane really doesn't have a ton to say. Again, he's kind of processing the whole thing. His son is dead. There's no coming back from it. And at the same time, he wanted him to die. He wished his son dead. On several, several occasions, it's like, "I just wish he was dead." And now that it's kind of done, it's kind of a "be careful what you wish for" type of thing. It's sad, but at the same time, he was a danger to the community. He was literally offing people right and left. There was nothing that could have been done for him. After a few moments of Shane's eyes still cast down and he's still thinking, he's going to look up at actor Runnison, "Thank you.
I'm honestly glad he's dead." And I know that sounds horrible, but it had to be done. I understand. Yes, it had. If there's anything more you need from us, I'd be glad to stay a little bit longer. But we have a friend who needs a lot of help right now, and we have to go. Otherwise, it's going to become another situation, like the one Trevor was in. Shane's just kind of shaking his head no, like very softly. Like, "No, there's nothing else." Unless you stop him, he's going to kind of just absentmindedly turn around and go back into his house. So that sounds like a no.
So yeah, he's going to turn around and just kind of very slowly shut the door. Almost as if he's just in shock. He's just going to turn around and just shut the door and go back to whatever he was doing, you presume. Are you done in Lockford now officially? I just want to go back real quick, maybe to the mayor or someone we spoke to, just to make sure they keep an eye on Shane for a while. Make sure he's alright, processing the death well, having good sunny thoughts. Yes. Just make sure people are around, you know. So maybe the mayor, yeah. Right. Okay, so that sounds like something you could have just swung by and just said, "Oh, BTW, maybe keep an eye on him." Yep.
Alright, meeting back up with the party because you guys have a decision to make here. Okay, first of all, Actor Onus Trixie and Dagon, you are officially back with the rest of the party. Is there anything you'd like to disclose or tell them before we move on? I'll produce the bag of coin and just show it. 2000 gold, hardly worth the sum of our friends' lives, but it looks like this is all we're getting. They said if we come back later they'll probably have more, but apparently we've emptied their coffers. Are we dividing that up or is it going in some kind of party hopper?
Sevetys will offer whatever share he was going to get and just tell Dagon and Trixie that it was, he helped fight the werewolves just because he wanted to help right the wrong that they had felt and they deserved it more than he did. So splitting four ways then if Actor Onus is out and Sevetys is out? I'll actually split it in five because I'm going to give my whole share to someone we could hire. Just like that fifth amount. Didn't you tell the dude to keep your share? Well he didn't give me any money anyway, he just gave us money so I guess I'm going to give my share to someone else.
He gave us apparently everything that he had from what he implied. Yeah, he just handed over a sack full of money. It was just however we broke it down after that so there's not really any portion that goes to any one person per se. Actor Onus kind of confused the shit out of him so he's just like, "Here's money. Here's a sack full of money." Why do people say I do that? I suggest we use the money to research this cure. We are headed somewhere now, are we not? That's the question I'm going to ask. Looking at the map, if everyone has a copy of the map, where do you think your best bet would lie?
Where would you like to go? I'll breach the furthest away. Brightport seems the closest but Umineiro's not that far off. Well I mean you could always hit Brightport then Umineiro. There's no law saying you can't hit up multiple places obviously. That's true. But don't we have to worry about a time constraint considering that he may be a werewolf soon? Well here's the thing. If it's happened, it's happened. It's not like dealing with the zombies and it's not like vampires. It is a curse, not a disease. If it's happened, it's happened. So there's no fighting against the clock?
It just is. So yeah, the first town we hit, the sooner the better. And then move on. Does everyone know how many potions they have if any? Like should we stop and stock up on the night since we did just get our asses beat? So you were each given two healing potions I believe before you went to tackle the werewolves. Obviously Trixie didn't get any and I want to say that I can't remember if anyone used any. It should be on your character. That was like a year ago. I don't remember. Yeah I know. Yeah I don't think we did. And I've never had any on me. So let's say you each have two healing potions.
Okay. And again the table's freaking out so you don't have any I guess. I don't know. Whatever. It's like Trixie's magic crossbow. Sometimes it's there. If I'm using a heavy shield and a sword, do I need to stow one of them away to use a potion? I guess I would. No. We're not. I don't probably need this. You can just rest your shield against your leg. You'll be fine. Just for a sec. It's a minor so it's not like it's just... Throw my sword in the air, turn the potion and catch the sword. There you go. You're badass. Let's just say you're badass. Remember we paid full price for the silver of arrows?
Did we want to return the ones we didn't use and get deposit? I might keep mine since there's a new situation. Oh yeah. Somewhat relevant I suppose. Maybe we'll just hang on to those for now. Boy that's an awkward conversation to have. I'm gonna hold on to my silver of arrows. I haven't fully internalized this yet. Right. I'm talking group wise. Hey guys we should get our deposit back. No I think I'm gonna hold on to mine. Maybe not. No hard feelings. Already crying. So are you heading back to Brightport now? I was gonna say we know the mages of Uminyuro have a reputation for aloofness right?
They're not inclined to really help much of anyone. With that history check Dagon would definitely know about the mages inclination towards knowledge. They will help you out if you're just seeking knowledge. If it's about violence, not so much. And bringing a werewolf into their city may not go over so well. I don't know. Haven and I can wait under the city. I don't really have any business there. Dagon's kind of the book guy. I only want to go to Aubrey because we haven't been there. Right. Logistically it is the most out of your way and the most long shot.
What if we had some sort of portal? A portal you say? But if we go through Aubrey we can unlock the fast travel point and then we can always get back there later right? What if there was a way to research a fast travel system? A fast travel system you say? Golly Scoob. I've got this book here. Like zoinks Scoob! You did that too well. Yeah that was almost perfect. Roadrunner and Ruby. So we're going on a call then. On a call? That's the only place we know where there's a door. I don't know that. Let's not go back there. Well let's not go back to Brightport either.
There are two places on the map that you absolutely don't want to go as characters and that's Brightport and Onakol. And Brightport seems to be your best bet. It's the godfather. Just when you thought you were out. No. It's up to you. The other option is you can just keep on walking and go to Uminero. That is totally up to you. You can just go to Uminero first so that if the solution is found there then we don't have to go to Brightport. And that would be at least a stay of the unpleasant part. I agree. I think Uminero would probably sound like our best bet.
Just because of what it is and who is there. And we might run into Galford. Sorry you shouldn't have laughed at that. So you're... We might run into pieces of him. So you're really all doing this just now. You're just dropping everything off in search of a cure. I'm not dropping anything. I made a promise. This is the only thing I'm on right now. Haven this is what we do. We help each other. You're not an exception to that rule. Can there be some like triumphant music behind this one Jason when you do the edit? Like friends! And not the theme song to Friends. That would be inappropriate.
They'll be there for you. Well you say that. What if I found some sort of loop based version of the theme Friends? Would that be acceptable? What if we had a listener who's a great singer who could do that? Right! All I can think about is the lyrics to No One Told You Life Was Gonna Be This Way to Haven transforming into a werewolf. Wah wah. Oh don't get me wrong U-turn I'm putting you down. Oh yeah, Sivnus is not gonna resist hitting you in the face. Oh they're all buddy buddy while you're human. The second you turn you are a skinned rug. You better work on your meditation.
Haven looks across the party and it is readily apparent that this has been a heartwarming incident. And he just kind of solemnly nods and says alright for now alright. Good enough for me. Okay so you're a narrow. Alright. Wow. Okay. Traveling back the way you came from Longford. I hate to do this but I'm gonna have to ask you at a certain point. Do we want to rest first before leaving or go as fast as we can? Or get horses or any of those things? Any of those things. Horses are expensive. We need to save our cash too. I don't know where we would rest because Haven can't go into town.
Well we could rest just outside of town and watch. I can set up a sweet campsite. Might not be a bad idea. Alright then. It would be heading on nightfall pretty much so that might not be a bad idea to kind of camp out and relax. I mean somebody's got to have a monster survival check in this party right? Sure. I think Dagon actually would be your best bet. Alright no it's nature in this one. It's not survival. It's nature. Yeah. Yeah. We're gonna camp out where the werewolves roam? I wouldn't do it in the Silverglade. No. I mean this would be outside of Lockford heading east.
If you want to go to the Silverglade. There's all kinds of ugly horrible things there. We can camp right by the Taunt wall. We can open Trusty up like a Tauntaun. Sleep in. Oh god. Come on you swarm here that little. Really quickly. Just take turns. And was the horse still there or did someone take care of it? I would imagine they, well it would have been hours and hours and hours. Yeah they would have drug that thing away by then. Could have attracted werewolves. Yeah we don't want to just like chum the waters for awful things. Let's do this. Is everyone sleeping or is someone gonna sit up and kind of.
Oh rotating quads. Oh yeah yeah. I don't sleep. That's right you meditate. And I am aware of everything that's going on. Hopefully. Hopefully there's not a check for that. One with your Saran. Do me a favor roll a nature check there. Dang on. Okay. 18. It's not just werewolves you gotta worry about. In the Silverglade that's one thing. The area east of Lockford is troll country. I'm gonna say because you're awake. I want you to roll a perception check for me. 22. That is enough to, you're going to be awake and alert enough that you are going to hear constant movement outside of camp.
Like in the darkness you can kind of hear movement and it sounds pretty much like what you heard if you remember while you were in the Silverglade. There was a portion of time where you heard this huge heavy stomping. And it kind of like floated right on by when you guys were completely silent. The problem is you got a campfire going you got some stuff going on so at a certain point in the night you're going to hear that stomping again. Is there anything you'd like to do preemptively or like try and snuff out the fire or alert everybody you know get everybody up like it's completely up to you.
So wait where are we taking camp I guess like what's the surroundings kind of look like. This would be a light tree line but mostly a valley like a nice flat area where you guys could you know pitch tents and be pretty comfortable for the night but away from the road obviously and all that. So there's like nowhere for me to hide. There's some trees. Is there anyone else that doesn't sleep like just tricks you sleep. Well Trixie is still agitated from what happened so she's probably not if she's sleeping she's not sleeping well. Is there like a check that I have to do if I wanted to quickly jump up and snuff out the fire and hide behind a tree.
Yeah do me a favor roll an athletics check for me before the did the role about trolls tell them anything about trolls. Do you think that they're present here. Not with an 18 not not not a ton about it. Please say something about trolls. I can't mitigate this. Would our past perception like wake anybody up. Okay hold on a second. Let's okay Trixie wasn't sleeping well trust me if she if there is any noise she woke up. I'm jumping out the fire I'm jumping up to put out the fire and jumping to you know some kind of again roll an athletics check for me there. 33 Holy shit.
All right. I was awesome for a second. Trixie is going to dart up from her from her her bedroll and just douse this fire in a second and take cover behind a tree and just kind of wait. Are you waking anyone else up in the party or is this more more or less. You've done all you can do in your head it's like okay I've put out the fire I'm just trying to. As a process I would like to kind of like tap Corey as I am running past her to hide behind a tree. Okay just Corey gotcha. Well I figured Corey would alert everyone else she's the biggest like Corey can we know about it.
But Corey is my buddy so I was like hey hey buddy get the hell up. Totally gotcha. Even though you can't hide behind a tree pretend you're a tree. Pretend you're a tree. Put your hands up. Big white tree. They have those white oaks. They even have stripes so I mean really it's a perfect disguise. You don't have leaves do you? That would be kind of weird. Yeah that would be good. Stand next to a tree you can just share its leaves. Would it happen to be mid fall Jason? Is there a specific reason you're asking man? Because she has no leaves. Right. I want to I want to wake up the others without them making any noise.
Roll a stealth check. I'm so fucking sound asleep. As if I hadn't sleep for like two weeks. Oh my. I'm not stealthy by the way. Apparently. The set of us wakes up and screams what the fuck do you want? They got screams wake the fuck up. So can I just put my hand on their mouths before we do like. Well not with that stealth check. It's like in that clearing whenever you're like Trixie. And I'm like ugh. Dagon stealth rolls her ass. You've managed to put your finger in my eye. Yeah. I'm just throwing rocks at everybody. Get up. So Dagon doing his best Mr. T impression.
Decides to shout at everyone about the impending danger because that is a crit one. So Dagon just kind of hey everyone. Bad shit's about to happen. Hey get up. Just kind of shout at him. Now okay this little camp is blanketed in darkness now. And you are going to so the the the stomping around kind of stops for just a second. And now you now it's going to start picking up and it sounds like it's getting closer. Perception check. Go ahead. Okay so when she jumps up after Trixie woke her up she's going to arm herself after you know Dagon yelled at us that shit was about to go down.
So she arms herself and perception. 20. Okay. Okay one you are going to notice that the fire's been doused you're you're going you're going to hear the stomping getting louder. And you're going to put two and two together and realize that your camp is about to be attacked by something. I've got low light vision can I see anything yet? Oh that's true you do have low light vision and so would Trixie. I have it too. And dwarves have it too don't they? They have dark they have dark vision. I could have swore because of cave delving I could be wrong could be totally.
I'll read real quick. One second you've got low light racial traits do they have low light? Yeah. Okay cool. Yeah revenants do too. Okay cool so hot man a lot of the party has low light vision. Corey does not but her eyes glow does that help sort of illuminate the area? No but it does make you easier to see. I'm sitting on the shoulder saying close your eyes close your eyes. Her eyes are burnt out so that's the opposite of helpful in this situation. Basically our low light source. You're like a fucking possum that's terrible. I can't help it. No just just the instinctive people to get up and close your eyes.
Just make my perception check with my eyes closed. That is terrible. Good thing it's not just the two of us. Turn around. Okay wow yeah that is not. So depending on where everyone is she's going to try to get back to back with probably Trixie if she's nearby. Okay here's what's going to happen. Oh good lord. Out of the darkness you can you can see this figure advance towards you. And this thing is huge. It looks to be approximately 10 to 12 feet tall from what you can see. It's hunched over. It's got long scraggly hair this big green like hookish bird nose.
This is definitely a troll. That is a problem. So here's what's going to happen. You guys have made so much noise that I don't see where this is unavoidable. So let's let's get you on a map. Nature Trek thank you be our friends. Are Haven and I awake? I would say at this point yes. I would hope so after Dagon yelled at you. Yeah at this point. Did you steal some of Sevetus's ale? That's why you're sleeping so well. Oh maybe. I threw a rock at you. You also stuck your finger in their eyes and started yelling at them. Try to put your finger hands over their mouth.
I mean you were just trying to abuse them in their sleep. We are messed up. We are right by the gate right so. Well you're outside of town like I would say you're well you're not going to camp right outside of I mean that wouldn't make any sense. It's just me though. Well I mean we've got like a wall to be flanked on like super position wise. And if there's like a watch guard or something. I don't know. We were the closest to town we were. Safer we were. But no matter. Alright here's what's going to happen. Everyone throw your characters on the board right in this area here-ish please.
So we didn't get our full rest I assume. I'm going to say that you were asleep long enough to get an extended rest. Okay good because I already clicked the button. Always trust a DM. Wait till you see one. Let's not yet. Actuaronis you're so far away. Oh sorry. I just thought I was going in first. Here. Still sleeping. Closed to hang on. So where is this tree that I'm supposedly hiding behind? I mean you have something like there. Yeah there are trees up there that's why I'm yeah. Can I go like right? Yeah. Can I go like right here? Totally. Would that be like can I wouldn't be able to- Well I mean there's no tree there.
I mean you're not going to be concealed. I didn't know if those had fallen in like a weird angle or not. Well they're rough terrain that's why they're there. Bad bad bad. So does the triangle indicate higher ground? No it indicates rough terrain. See the trees are rough terrain but not around it. Fine fine Jason I'll hide behind the tree. I didn't make up the rules or this. Is that a big rock? Can I hide behind the rock? Yeah. Sure you can hide behind the rock. Okay. So just because I wanted to know how this would work I can't see anything. So. Why? What? Why can't you see anything?
I don't have low light vision. Oh well okay he's going to be close enough to you that this is I mean you'll be able to see him if he's adjacent but it will be tricky to see. But I'm a ranged character Jason. Yeah. Did you call fireflies or something? No I don't have anything cool like that. I can now turn into a giant gust of crows which is kind of awesome. Trixie's going to flourish here because it's dark. Like she gets stealthy things when it's dark I believe. I think so I just remember what they were. I had something that like if you're partially covered something or other but I don't I don't know what it was.
Maybe it was the vanish from view. Yeah you are hit by a melee or a ranged attack while you have cover or concealment from the attacker. Dude that guy's big. He ugly. He's dead. Let's add the party and let's add this big old briar troll. Or. I'm just spitballing here. Change it up a little bit. Go ahead and roll initiative. Here's how we're going to do this. We're going to add him to the initiative tracker twice. I don't like that. Everyone ready? It's a Dagon Briar Troll sandwich. He doesn't attack me. Okay. Yes I'm ready. Let's let's have him move forward here.
One two three four briar troll is going to move forward four. Oh wow okay. He is going to start out by taking. He's got these really big hands. And he's kind of coated in like sharp thorny like briar. He's very one with nature in that it looks as though he's almost part plant. And he's going to kind of take his briar coated hand and try and slap Haven in the head with it. So he's essentially clawing at Haven here. That's a strong open I have to respect that. Knows what he wants. That's a crit. Oh, I don't have to worry about that werewolf problem. Good morning.
That's 57 damage. Oh my God. So what? Hey Jason. Yes. Yes sir. What kind of what kind of endurance check do I make against 57 damage to see if I avoid wolfing out? Is it like a decent 57 endurance check? I'm going to be honest. That's not the best possible opening for you Rob. Can I take an immediate action if I haven't played yet? I don't think so. What's the trigger for it? After this Kickstarter things were going to look brighter and happier in there. I look that's a nice thing. Yeah, that's not my fault. That's a crit. That's not I didn't plan that. Look Jason can't be blamed if his troll unloaded a spring-loaded bitch slap on him.
Rob do me a favor roll an endurance check please. Please tell me it's DC 57 and that this is just for show and then slightly literally physically impossible. It's gonna be kind of high. Okay. Can I is it higher than 27? Because I can't beat 27 that's if I natch 20. Um right now I would say the check would be 26. This is a troll that's attacked you in the middle of the night. You have been caught off guard. You're still dealing with this possible werewolfism and he just critted you with a solid slam to the noggin. And that's when the power of friendship was put to a test.
Haven gonna let you know a little secret. Not great at holding up to my promises. I make promises all the time. As we all back up a step. You can be known for just running away from battle since that can just be our thing. Those people listening at home that's a 23. You're right you're on your own. Snow in your Haven. We tried. I don't even get to lay on my oath of enmity or anything. Well okay this isn't the end of the world yet. Let's just flank the troll with werewolf Haven. So we're far away from Haven and we're flanking the troll. The troll is gonna be running.
Surely. Alright let's replace. Let's do this. Let's put Haven over here. Let's put Wolf Haven on the field. Wolf Haven has 75 hit points. An AC of 25, a fort of 24, a reflex of 27 and a willpower of 24. Your powers are claw, pounce and claw, throat rip and then the frenzy thing we talked about earlier. When your turn comes around. You're gonna roll a flat D20 and we're gonna go from there. Alrighty sir? Okie dokie. So that was just to see if he changed or not. Yes. Then he gets to roll whether he's in control or not. Yes. Okay so we're okay right now. Yeah you guys are doing good.
My turn comes up before his turn so I can move. I'm definitely moving. Guys I have this move it's called the jumping blade assault that if I hit him. If I hit him being knocked prone it might give us a little bit of advantage for a short amount of time. That's true. I can't tell if you're talking about werewolf haven or the troll. I meant the troll. Okay. Cause everyone is like we're gonna move. If werewolf haven is anything like the other werewolves. I just came out here having a good time and I'm honestly feeling so attacked right now. Hey I'm not attacking you leave me alone.
But if he's anything like the other werewolves he'll attack the troll cause he's down. Right? I like your thinking. So I jump in knock his dumb ass prone and then he gets eaten by a dog. I like it. That could work. Just a thought. Totally could work. Proactive there you go. If Rob rolls and loses control is there a chance his next turn to regain control. Oh yeah he gets one every turn. Okay good. We all still have silver arrows right? We don't want to kill him. I'm not saying that. He can slow him down if he starts getting a little bit unruly. If we kill the troll and then you know she doesn't turn back right away.
Well okay these are all bridges we're gonna cross when we get to them. Let's play. Okay let's recap the series of events that have just happened. Troll attacks camp. Troll attacks Haven. Haven wolfs out. That's our current situation. Dagon your turn. Okay I'm moving definitely. No offense. One two three. Does a troll have like a reach of 10? Like two squares? Let me check. I'm not positive. I don't want to say he does. He's large. Yeah he does. Sorry Dagon. That's okay. Jason what's the range on the force blast? It doesn't say? No. It's 10/20. Okay. I'm going here. I'm going to use force blast on the troll.
And I missed. And that's my turn. Sorry guys. Okay. Trolls turn. Trolls turn. I feel bad. Let's see here. Oh he's one of these two initiative things? Yeah. Oh awesome. It gets better. It's so hardcore. But wait there's more. The troll gently leans down and begins to pet Wolf Haven. It turns out he's always wanted a puppy. Yes it's the thing that warms his heart and it grew three sizes that day. Cue the Friends song again. Let's see here. The troll is going to use rending claws on his head. And he's going to use claws on actor on his. And he's going to use claw twice.
If both attacks hit the same target, the target is weakened until the end of the trolls next turn. Alright. So let's see if these hit. No they don't. That misses. Well the first one is not a crit though. Right. No I mean the first crit I get in an encounter because of my armor. Oh that's right. That was sweet. He's good at crits. He is. That's not great. So 31 damage. Corey your turn. Okay. Because he's so big I see him right? I just wanted to make sure. Yes. You're close enough that you'd see him. Alright so I'm just gonna move over her. And secondary question. So because Haven is a werewolf now, is it going to be based on whether or not he has control or not?
Whether he's considered an enemy on the field? I'm going to leave that completely up to you guys. Whether he's an enemy on the field. Because he's got a lot of adjacent enemy stuff and I don't know whether or not it's going to affect him. No no no. I mean that's not, it's not an automatic thing. I'm going to ask you each time because it's kind of Schrodinger's cat. Each turn he could be considered an enemy or an ally. So I'm just going to ask you flat out would you like to do damage to him if that's the case. Okay. That sounds like you're struggling to...
I don't know. Preferably I would have liked to know if he was an enemy or not first. But hey, what are you going to do? I guess then I'm going to save my burrowing shot and do guardian harrier against troll. Pachaaa! Yay! 21. 21 damage to the troll. Very nice. Anything else? Nope, that's it for now. Trixie, your turn. Alright, I'm going to do my jumping blade assault but I'm going to do it as part of a charge. It can be done now. If you use this power as part of a charge you can target reflex instead of AC. Effect, you knock the target prone. Hit 2 plus dexterity modifier damage.
Special when charging you can use this power in place of a melee basic attack. Okay, then you are going to charge and become adjacent with the troll. Yay. Wait, adjacent. Right here? That'll do it. You're also next to werewolf haven. Can I not be right there? Can I be like... back... like here? Sure, yeah. You wouldn't have enough spaces to do that. And then attack. Yeah! That will hit! Yeah. Okay. And then damage. 14. And he's not prone. Okay, boom. Let's knock him prone. Gorgeous. Anything else? Umm... I'm going to shift. Can I shift back one or no? Because I already moved.
You already charged. Even though it was considered a melee basic attack? It's still part of a move. That's stupid. Okay. Dumb rules. I love you. Why does every female in this show call me stupid? What is with that? Why is that a thing? Because we're being nice and not calling you other things. I get called other things too. I know, but we're not those people. The guys call you lovely blue eyes. I know. All the dudes compliment in my eyes. I'm just saying. Ginger roles! Jason's going to have a whole horde of women protecting him against the other men in the groups.
I flank myself on all sides. Okay. Sevanus, your turn. Umm... Okay. I'm going to move up. Am I technically flanking? No. No. Wait, blue circle? You're the blue. You're flanking with Trixie. Oh yeah, you are. I wanted to make sure because that's why I kind of did that. You could draw a straight line through, then yeah. Oh, okay. Cool. So I'm going to do divine punishment. So, and it's plus two. Because he's on the ground. Yep. Okay. You get a plus two because he's prone and you get a plus two because you're flanking with Trixie. Oh shit. Umm, okay. I can take it back. It sounds like there's a problem for you.
Oh no. Math is not my strong suit. So I had to actually sit here and think about how to add that up. And you're in college, right? Yeah. Oh. Unless you crit one. Ouch. Misses half damage though. Oh good. Eleven damage. That was not how I thought that was going to go, but okay. I'm good. These things happen. Uhh, Wolfhaven. Alright, flat d20, ten or better? Yep. No! This is not going well. Everything about this fight is amazing. She's having flashbacks about jumping away. We're going to find the elusive TPK this time, T. I can feel it. You guys keep trying. We're working so hard.
That's our thing. We get out of the Silver Glaze. I know. You guys should have never left Brightport. Do you know that? Ever since you left Brightport it's been a disaster. Okay. My body is ready. I'm going to get emails. We're about to find out though if the troll being prone thing is true. Jason has a heart in there somewhere. I just hope he can find it in the next like ten seconds. It's like the Grinch, man. His heart grew three sizes that day. It's the dice! I love you. Your beard is beautiful. I'm just picturing a group two meme now. I'm just picturing a group two meme where the top half is doesn't play for a month and the bottom half is talk shit about the DM.
At least I'm far away. I seem to recall a Dan Hill who called me stupid just a few scant seconds ago. In a loving touch. She said the rules were stupid. She also complimented your eyes. And your beard. My husband's beard, sorry. Here's what we're going to do in this particular... One, two, three, four. Here's what we're going to do. One, he'll attack the troll. Two, three, four, he's going to attack down the line. He gets four attacks? No, no, no, no, no, no, no. Here's what I'm going to do. Because there are four people essentially right next to Haven, I'm going to roll a d4.
And one, he's going to attack the troll. Two, he's going to attack Sebitus. Three, he's going to attack Actaronis. And four, he's going to attack Trixie. Does that sound fair? Sounds fair. Two, he's going to attack Sebitus. So, Werewolf Haven is going to shift over to Sebitus. And let's just use a straight up claw. So, that is going to be a d20 plus 17 versus Sebitus' AC. 24 versus Sebitus' AC. That is a low roll, so I'm going to say that's a no. Yeah, that's a miss. See? It's not all bad, guys. Hey. Alright. And that will end Haven's turn. Actaronis, your turn.
Alright. Got a couple things to pop first. As a miner, I'm going to pop my aura. Defender aura. And I'm going to move next to Trixie and take the attack of opportunity. I get 30 AC against attacks of opportunity. Okay, and he's on the ground, so he'll take a negative two to his... Okay, cool. So, unless he rolls really high. So, claw. Actaronis minus two. That'll miss. Unless he rolls really high, says the guy that had two crits from the troll. That's only so far in the fight. I mean, two crits in his first two turns. Yeah, pointing out the facts. Alright, and I'm going to open up with Chilling Smite.
So, my fiery sword is going to be coated in, like, frost. And I'm going to swing. Need to remember how. Attack. Oh, is that a crit? That's my first crit. Congratulations. Good job. So, it's max damage. Max damage. Just click the little max. You get crit damage. Son of a bitch. The troll doesn't get crit damage. Never mind. Sorry. Does the troll have any vulnerabilities, such as fire, maybe? Let me double check. How do I click max? I'm not sure. It does have vulnerability to fire, actually. It should be right next to, like, when you click on him to attack, it should be right next to half.
Oh, okay. I see it. Max. So, roll max. And then I add my fire damage. Oh, that's one. And then my crit dice, which is 2d10. So, that's a total of, what, 44? Yeah. Okay. Are you all done? I'm gonna take -5 penalty to damage until he saves. Oh, wow. Okay. That's it for me. Okay. Okay. Briar troll's turn. Alright. Well, let's stand this big boy up. Boy, I could get really nasty with this. Okay. You know what? Let's use Rending Claws on Trixie. So, he's gonna make two attacks. If both of them hit, then Trixie's gonna be weakened until the end of his next turn. So, that will hit.
And that will hit. I'm gonna make an immediate interrupt for that one. Okay. I'm gonna use my Shield of Something. The Shield of Something. There's so many in there. It's a righteous shield. I'm gonna take it right in the shield. And I just take the damage in her place. For both attacks? Just the second one, I guess. Okay. Just the second one. Okay. Okay. Here's what we're gonna do. Trixie's gonna take damage for the first one. So, that's 36 damage to Trixie. 26 damage to Actoronas. Both of you are bloody now. You know what? Troll's gonna pop an action point. He doesn't have those.
He certainly does. Ooh. There's something I didn't even spot. But I'm gonna start. I'm not gonna do this retroactively. But I will do it from now on. You'll see. Can I do like I did the last time and do something that I forgot? I take 10 less damage when I use righteous shield. Go ahead. Yeah. Cool. So, give yourself 10. He is gonna use Rending Claws again. So, he is going to attack Trixie twice. Oh, wait. Does it have to be the same? He's gonna attack Actoronas twice, actually. That will hit. And the second one is gonna miss. Okay. 27 damage to Actoronas. And Dagon, your turn.
All right. Nobody minds if I hit them, right? Just kidding. We're not going there yet. I am, however, gonna use a daily. Oh, shit. I'm gonna use Mental Trauma on this guy. It's our go one creature versus Will. Miss half damage. Target gains one with five psychic. Save bounce. All right. Let's try this. Yes. That will hit. No. 5d10 plus 10. 41 damage. 41 damage to the troll. That was beautiful. Thank you. You're welcome. I hope he's dead soon. Sorry I missed the first one. I'm gonna be able to for a while now. That's all I can do. Okay. You're gonna charge next turn? Yep.
Briar Troll's turn. Oh, boy. Your beard is dumb. The Briar Troll leaps into the air and sits on Corey. He is going to use Rending Claws against Sevetys. First one's gonna hit. Ow. Second one's gonna miss. So 35 damage. Ow. He is going to pop his second action point. Stupid beard. Stupid beard. And he is going to use Rending Claws on Sevetys again. First one's gonna hit. Second one's gonna miss. All right. Well, that's good. I see a theme with this. 35 damage to Sevetys. That will reduce you to 10 hit points. Jeez. That's... Corey, your turn. Save someone. I don't know how.
Run up and smash a potion on the back of his head. Fly, you fool. I will tell you my oh shit button, my battle surge, I plan on using my turn. So if you can at least stay within, like, I think that it's a burst five, so if you can stay within five. You feel like it's an oh shit moment? Well, three members are all bloody. One's a werewolf. One's a werewolf. Well, yeah. I forgot about that. This is so group two. I just... The werewolf will come around. Well, I was gonna say four members and I'm also down to 10 HP. I have a question. My guardian harrier thing, if the troll didn't move, he's supposed to take extra damage equal to my strength modifier.
Oh, okay. Which is three. It's four now. Oh. Oh, what? Well, that killed him. So nah. Perfect. All right, see you guys. Saved the day. It's fine. You're welcome. Let's head back to town. No, for real, at least. No, but seriously, let's head back to town. Why do we have relief? I'm having a really hard moral quandary about attacking Haven right now because most of my things will attack him and I don't want to get his attention. Oh no, I'll ask you flat out if you wanna deal damage to Haven. Every single turn? Every single turn. Oh, I thought it was like a beginning decision type thing.
No, no, no, no. It's kind of like you aim at him or not. Kind of, yeah. Like you're choosing whether you consider him an enemy. Okay, that makes me feel a little better. First thing I wanna do is can I bust out a stone spirit ward? It gives me gain resistance to all damage till my next turn equal to my strength modifier, which is only four, but hey, I think I might need it. I would say yes. Cool. And then I'm going to do Squall Spirit, which is a daily, on the troll here. That's a hit. Yes. That is a beautiful, beautiful hit. 26. Those rolls kind of sucked though, but that's fine.
I'll take it and that's my turn. How is this thing not bloody? Because it's a big fucking troll. Trixie, your turn. Alright, I'm going to use my Crimson Edge. It's dexterity versus fortitude, modifier damage and the target grants combat advantage to you and takes ongoing damage equal to five plus your strength modifier, which is three, and save ends both. Hit. That is a hit. Gorgeous. 14 damage. Anything else? Can I drink one of my potions? As a miner, yeah. You absolutely can. Yeah, then I'm going to do that. Okay. Amazing work, Trixie. How much did that give me?
That's going to give you 10 health, so that'll be one of your... Are you doing it now? Yeah. Okay, cool. That's a wrap on your turn? Mm-hmm. For now. Because you ended your turn next to the troll, you're going to take five damage because he has an aura of brambles. Did I know that beforehand? No, you wouldn't know that beforehand. That's cheating. Well, that's something I actually forgot to do the first time, so... You know what I forgot to? He does five less damage until he saves. Oh, yeah. I didn't know the saving throw, though. I'm not on the ball in this game.
Okay, so let's do this. Let's go back and I'll roll a... Let's see. Okay, he saved. Does he get the five... Does he get the five plus damage on this turn as well, or starting next turn? Oh, that would have been a negative five, but I didn't roll the saving throw. No, I mean, does he... The damage that I just dealt him, because if I hit him, he gets the ongoing damage of five plus my strength modifier, which is three. So he'd get eight damage. Well, he's not rolling an attack yet. Okay. That's just an aura that he has. Okay, so he doesn't get that till next turn.
Okay, so I'm gonna apply Haven's Regeneration from wolfing out last Haven turn. Haven turn? We're calling them Haven turns? I know. Well, you're at full health. Oh, I assumed I was at 25 still. Oh, no, no, no. No, no, no, no. When you wolf out, you get full health. Oh, cool. Oh, it's like the best healing surge ever. Yes, but again, it could be used for good or evil. It's the best healing surge ever. You get to heal and then possibly eat your friends. It's the fluffiest healing surge ever. It's the fluffiest healing surge. There's a children's book written about it.
I read that. I read that. Sevetys, your turn. Okay, I know I said it, but would anybody be opposed to me doing battle surge? It gives everybody a healing surge and then everybody gets a plus two power bonus to attack rolls until the end of my next turn. Why would we be opposed to that? I don't know if it would be a timing thing. I will say this. I'm saying Haven will benefit from that as well, for good or ill. I say for good. I don't think you can choose that. Because my general plan was I was going to pop battle surge, give everybody a healing surge and then plus two to attack rolls and then I was going to use one of my dailies and try to hit the troll in the face.
And then that would also give people chances to hit the troll too. Go for it. So I would have to pop an action point. Okay, so I'll do battle surge. Battle surge. Each, it's a close burst five, so I don't think Dagon gets it. No. But each target regains hit points as if he or she had spent a healing surge. In addition, each target gets a plus two power bonus to attack rolls until the end of your next turn. So everybody but Dagon, give yourself a healing surge. So it's as if, right? As if. You don't actually spend the surge, you... Whatever your surge value is.
Oh, I got to look that up then. I was about to give my, or use a surge. And I assume human haven being a non-entity does not benefit from that. It's on your details tab. It doesn't specifically, it just says ally. Technically you're considered an ally. So you're going to get a plus two to your attack rolls for good or ill. Oh, I was talking about the healing issue. Well, you're at full health anyway, but... Yeah, no, I was just saying like human haven. So he's, okay, but he's a non-issue right now. Right. Just want to say for like role play purposes, people with a high perception, maybe, maybe you hear like the faintest like discomfort groan coming from Actoronus's helmet.
Just tiny, tiny groan of discomfort. But only if you have a high passive perception. Got it. Okay. So I will then pop a... Oh God, I have to remember the math on this. I'm going to pop a... I'm going to pop my action point and use inspire fur war. Furver. That sounds better. Fur vore. Okay, so I get, it's a normal plus 17, but I'll get plus two because I'm flanking with Actoronus. Plus two because of Trixie and then plus two because of battle surge. No, no, you don't get plus two because of Trixie. Oh, you meant as an extra flank? You don't super flank. Oh, I can only flank.
Okay. I mean, you're either, you, that's a thing. You should totally let him super flank. But you are speedy though. Right? I had this entire thing planned out. You get a plus four. That's a pretty good, you had a plus four last time though, too. So let's, let's cross your fingers. Okay. Oh my God. What's the second day that you've missed? I feel so bad. So when the 30 would miss or did you add the plus four? I added the plus four already. Well, did that have damage on this? Yeah, it's half damage. I really wanted to hit because the effect was so good. Each ally within two squares of you would get to shift two squares and then any ally who ends their shift adjacent to the target can make a basic melee attack against it as a free action.
God, that would have been amazing. Okay. I'm like depressed now. 12. Do me a favor roll a d20. Okay. Come on guys. There's like a 55% chance I won't try to eat you. Nope. I'm just going to crawl into the corner here. You might miss. Say this, maybe you want, maybe you shifted around the corner on your last turn. Plus eight because of mercy. Here's the thing. I'm going to get a plus four. Here's the thing. Sevetys is bloody. That's just an automatic. I'm sorry. Haven is going to use throat rip on, on Sevetys. Totally a chance this could miss. It's a plus 17 versus Sevetys' reflex. 19.
That ties my reflex. God damn it. I can hit your reflex on a two? Oh, you're also dead. He's a werewolf. That's kind of what they do. I'm going to eat you all. I'm really sorry about it. Like genuinely sorry about it. Yeah. It's actually like 0% your fault. Oh, yeah. I must've like when walking around today, I must've stepped on every goddamn crack in the world. Cause I have the worst luck tonight. Do you want to hear the damage? Is it going to make me fly to Jersey and punch you in the face? I'm taking that as a yes. This is his daily. Did you just kill me? We'll see. 5d10 plus 10.
At least he didn't crit. The next time I see you, I'm going to cut your beard off. Wow. It's really unlikely that I would kill you. The odds are really unlikely. You jinxed it. You'll be unconscious for sure. 41 damage. It's all right. Do you want to take that off for me or how would you like to? What was the goddamn damage? 41 damage to Sebitus. As a reaction, I'm going to puppet encounter. And so that my next attack will do more damage. I'm using... Sorry. Hold on. Just so it's not annoying, let me mute myself so you don't have to hear me click. You can just type it in.
Did you know? Oh, this makes me more angry and it fuels the fire within me. Okay. Sorry. Actora, let's go. Yes. Just using the dark energies of Sebitus reaching beyond slowly, I'm going to do more damage. Thanks, Daren. Speaking of your next turn, Actoronus, you go right ahead. I... Ooh. Technically, Sebitus ended his turn next to the trolls, so take another five damage. True. Eat shit, you... Oh, it's getting so salty this game. It's so... That was me last session. Yeah, I... Oh, I've been through this battle before. It doesn't end well for me. Actoronus, go right ahead.
Sorry. Using my inspiring words, I'm going to say, "Fear not, Sebitus. Steadfast, like dwarves do." Wow, that was really inspired. Using this, so you spend a healing surge and regain 1d6 additional hit points. Hey, look at that, champ. Come on. Oh, shut the fuck up. So, lost one. So wait, what am I doing? I have 2d6, I'm level 6. So 1 and then 5, so 6. One healing surge plus 6. Wait, did somebody adjust that for me? I didn't. Because I only put in plus 26 and it magically jumped me up to 26. Oh, yeah, when you spend a healing surge from death, or unconsciousness, you start from zero.
Oh, cool. See? And you told me to eat shit. I still mean it. Okay, that's fine. I'm going to use my move for another miner, I think I can. You can, yes. Okay, I'm going to use Bond of Protection on Sebitus again. Until the end of the encounter, you gain plus 2 bonus to all your defenses and plus 5 to your endurance checks. Oh, fuck, no, wait. Plus 5 to endurance. Would that help Haven? Not anymore. Is it a saving throw or an endurance? Oh, saving throw. That would have been before. Okay, well now we know. I'm going to use Sebitus and in addition, anytime you take damage, I can reduce it by 5 and take 5 damage as a free action.
So you'll stand up for a little longer. Yep. Okay, and then to use my Dark Reaping, I'm going to use an at will, Phthalion Strike, which is 1 weapon damage plus strike modifier. And then I'm going to use my bonus to the attack roll equal to the number of enemies adjacent to me. So that's 1. Plus 2 for flanking, so that's a total of 3. So it's 18 and roll. That is a hit. Alright, so that's 1d7 plus 8 him. Roll that. 9 damage. Dark Reaping, which is 1d8 plus con mod, total of 10. Math College. And then fire damage. So that's 19. That's 19. Okay, where's the fire damage coming from?
It's the sword. The sword always does 1d6 fire every time I hit with it. So total that is? 19. Nine has already been taken off. With the other thing you just used on me, do I need to do anything or am I just remembering that I have whatever you did to me? Yeah, I'll remember. You have plus 2 to all your defenses. Cool. Okay, two things are going to get ready to happen. One, because you struck him, melee, he is going to use Savage Wrath. He gets to claw you twice. Sure. Okay, so let's do that. Ooh, that's going to hit. Second one is going to miss. So damage. 38 damage, that will reduce you to 3 as a result of the troll being bloodied.
Haven does his thing. Yeah. Oh, yeah. Let's see, there are four people surrounding him. Okay, as a result of him being bloodied, he is going to use Grasping Brambles. And these thorny vines are going to kind of like shoot up from the ground around him and try and wrap around the four of you. Oh, we can't even get away now. We can't even run. It's like we're being tossed into one of those big wine barrels and he's just going to stop us into like Briar Troll Reserve. Well, Haven was not hit by the Brambles. Neither was Sevetus. That was a crit one on me. Tricks he was.
I have an immediate interrupt for that. Okay. It says use this power when another creature grabs you and you immediately use the escape action with a plus five bonus to escape the grab and deal five damage to the creature that grabbed you. It's part of my Dragon Claw armor. Technically he's not grabbing you. You said that the things are grabbing me. They're from him, right? They're from him. It's not him grabbing. That seems like a fluke. And going to miss actor Ronis. Taking five more damage too, right? Because I'm at him. Did he take his eight damage that I was supposed to give him?
Hold on. Hold on. Hold on. Hold on. Where's the eight damage coming from from Trixie? Uh, well what did I use? Crimson Edge takes an ongoing damage equal to five plus your strength modifier until save ends. Save ends. Okay, yeah, he's going to take that. Well, this isn't his turn. This is reaction stuff. He will take it on his turn though. Okay. And Trixie's the only one who got hit from this so damage for that. Thirty and Trixie is immobilized. Briar Troll's turn. He's at action points guys. You got that going for you. Don't be a motivational speaker. It's not your forte.
Jason, I take the minus five hit points, right? For ending my turn next to him? Yes, you do. Sorry. Okay. So, yeah, I do that thing where I'm wobbling again. So you're at negative two hit points, but you don't fall down. You're just kind of wobbling. Oh, jeez. Okay. Troll is going to use Claw twice on Sevetys. That'll hit. Second one's going to miss. Is the first one going to hit with two more defense of his? Thirty-one probably. Yeah. Okay. What's... yeah. He's going to take three radiant damage. Oh no. Okay. I'm not unconscious so I guess it still works. Technically I'm still up.
I haven't fallen unconscious. I guess. Yeah. That's the... yeah. There's a couple of things about the revenant. Like I was like, I guess that still works. Like it's... there's really... you can't be knocked out. So it's like... That's only because I can heal myself too. Like if I was a rogue, that wouldn't be the same... same story. Well, Sevetys is still going to take damage. That's 40 damage. That'll reduce Sevetys to negative 14. Dagon, your turn. Isn't he charging? Yeah, I'm going to do a whole lot of nothing here. Nope. Hope for a big roll. Come on. Okay. Let me pull up my dice roller.
Come on, big 20. Well. That's quite the opposite. That's got to count for something. Or nothing. For those of you listening at home, a one has been rolled on the charge roll. That is a natural one. Why does Theria hate us so much? I can just imagine like the crit one just being Dagon leans down and Tebow's right in the middle of the field. And the troll gets a reaction. He's going to use a move called Bludgeon with Telephone Pull. You're going to get a... Oh man. Okay. I'm going to have a seizure. Okay. You know how on a nat 20 you deal double damage? Oh, come on.
Well, on a nat 1 you're going to deal half damage for your next attack. It's the equivalent of shitting yourself and then drooling all over yourself. It's essentially you've lost complete concentration while trying to channel your power here. And you're going to deal half damage on your next swing. Well, the good thing is you know that ahead of time. So wasting a daily might not be the thing you want to do. Yes. So that's something to be thankful for. Thank you very much. Deep comfort. I swear these dice rolls aren't working with you. I did not engineer this.
I did not engineer this to rape you in the middle. I mean, this is okay. This is why people don't camp in the woods so much. Like it's a very... There is a dangerous place to go camping. I just... We were right outside the city. Camping is a wonderful pastime, Jason. I'm sorry that you do not look on it fondly like the rest of us. Well, it's just trolls and werewolves are a danger in this particular portion of the world. You know, you guys got to march past the moors too with the unicorns. I didn't know if you realized that you're... It's pretty even still standing.
Nobody should be alive there. You can see why they've adopted the policies they have though, right? You could call them evil, but they just don't want to die. Oh, God. I was kind of ready for something to happen while we were sleeping outside. Just an instant werewolf on the first roll. I thought we'd be at Umani if something happened. Briar Troll's turn. Jesus Christ. He's gonna try to hit Trixie with claws. How about that three radiant damage? He's gonna swing twice at Trixie. Oh, that's gonna hit. If you kill me, so help me God. Oh no. I just saw it hit twice.
How many... How many... Oh, Jesus Christ. She doesn't have very much of a negative half her max. I've got no more interrupts. Let's see if I have one. Yeah, please see if you have one. Let's see, hold on. Wait a second. Well, this was a good practice session, guys. Okay, we should go back and start the real one. Sick demo. I think we'll get there. We hit the save point before this boss fight, right? So we can just... reload. I've been F6. It's been F6 every couple seconds, so... I'm afraid we've been playing the hardcore mode. No, I'm pretty sure I don't have it.
Okay, well let's hope for some really low rolls, guys. First one. Why do you kill a group member every episode, Jason? She's not dead yet. Shut up! Immediate interrupt. Trixie takes a potion. Okay. That's 42 damage. Guys, my table crashed. We gotta stop. It's crazy. I wasn't recording any of this. Did you know that? Okay, seriously. Let's all... I want everyone here. I know that this is gonna fall everyone. What happens happens, obviously, with the dice roll, but I want everyone to channel their positive energy into this next dice roll. It's not gonna be a 17. No, 13.
What's half of 67? I'm already at negative 20. Yeah. So you have to go down to negative 34 to die. Yes, so that would be 14. This would have to be a 14. After a hit of 42. It's possible! Can I float first some of my hit points? You can't loan someone hit points till next payday. I'm afraid that that doesn't... It is... Okay. In the realm of possibility, it is possible. It is just highly improbable. I wish you all of the luck. This troll is going to rear his hand back and essentially try and smash Trixie into the ground. Here we go. Here we go. That will reduce... Wait a second.
This is okay. That reduces Trixie to 30, negative 33 hit points. How... That doesn't make any sense. Did she take half damage? Did it just stop at half of... I think it just stops. Oh, 'cause there's no point. There's no point. It doesn't... Oh, Jesus. I got excited. That'll be enough to kill Trixie outright. The troll is going to rear back and essentially crush Trixie with the palm of its hand. Into the ground. Anyone close to Trixie is going to hear the snap and crackle of bones underneath of the troll's hand. That is going to bring up Cory's turn. Trixie? Still wobbly, trying to play that out.
Not yet realizing what just happened. Can I... Can Sevetus... Does Sevetus have resurrection? Yeah. Oh, he does. Okay, so, uh... Can I just die? Well, obviously. Oh, there's only me and the werewolf left. Oh, and Dagon. Thank God. Okay. I'm going to do my half damage. I'm going to try to do... Possessing spirits on this Friar troll. Which pretty much means I will take possession over him. And I'm going to make him attack himself, if it works. Please work. Misses. Oh, is that a crit one? Oh, Jesus. It was. Inevitable shot, so that I can at least make a ranged basic attack.
Okay. So, if I were to get the +2 from the battle thing, and then +1 for being speedy, would I still miss? I just figure his will's got to be really low. Right. That will just hit his will. Oh, thank you, Jesus. Okay. So... Wizard modifier on the target makes a melee basic attack as a free action. So, the enemy is going to be dazed. 26 damage. Okay. 26, and he is dazed. Yep. Okay, he's dazed. Alright. Let's see. I believe that means he gets one action instead of two. Or is that stunned? I always get those two confused. He gets his standard action. Yeah, that's right.
Dazed is that. Okay. Okay, anything else? You know what? Yes. Action point. Okay. Storm of Spirit Shards, which is a daily. Okay. I'm pretty much calling upon all of the dead beings in the forest to attack him. Including Trixie. Including Trixie. Too soon. Sorry. I was trying to be like... I meant that as more of an inspirational thing, like... So I get plus two for the battle thing. But I also get another plus one for being speedy right now, since I was quick to decide I was going to use my action point. Sure. Awesome. That'll hit. Nice. If we saw ghost Trixie, that would be pretty awesome.
Oh, that would be so great. 31 damage. 31 damage. Corey's pissed. Okay. Very, very nice. Okay. Anything else? That's gonna do it. Okay. Seve, it is your turn. Do me a favor. Roll a death saving throw, please. Hey, 19! Okay, you have stabilized. Things are turning up. You're not bleeding to death. Turning up the old house. Oh, God. Boy, this. Okay, you guys need a win. Haven, please roll a d20. You guys, what are the odds that I would do a 45% chance of not having control three times in a row? I mean, come on. There you go! Finally. That's a low 19. It's time to rock. Is there anywhere I can see my, um, my werewolf attacks?
I, I, you're, you count as a monster right now, so no. But what you have is, uh, you have a claw, which is an AC attack. Uh, it's a plus 17. You have pounce, which is an attack that would be against his fort, and that's a plus 16. Uh, we don't want to try this guy's fort, probably. Um, so let's do the claw one. Okay. I just have, like, basic claw. Uh, yeah, but it does a shit ton of damage if you hit, so. Okay. Do I have free will over my action points? Uh, yes. Okay, so I will, I will do one of those as well, uh, when time comes. Um, Mac, Tyranis, you are standing?
Uh, yes. Cool, it's a flank. Okay, so plus 17, plus two for flanking is plus 19, yes? Yes. Sounds accurate. According to Mac? Yes. Okay, 31 versus AC. That'll hit. Um, so 5d10 plus what? Uh, it is 4d10 plus 10. 4d10 plus 10. 33. 33 damage, beautiful. Um, oh, wait a second. Oh, go ahead, yeah, sorry, go, sorry. I was just looking ahead. You're good. Action point. And second claw, plus 19. Roll a d20 for me, please. I'm kidding, I'm kidding. Just go ahead. I, I cleared that entire 19 place of pluses. I'm so kidding. I'm kidding, I'm kidding. Did you stop, sorry. I, I, I, I, I, I clicked it all up again.
I thought you were gonna jump my ass for making you, like, roll another saving throw versus, I was just kidding. I, I'm trying to make it light. Hey, does he still take his damage from the, from the stuff that I did or no? Because I'm dead. Uh, that's a saving throw, shit. And you haven't been doing them, so he has at least eight more, possibly 16 more points that you didn't do. We are playing ruthless. I, I, we're going to, I ever- You smashed my head in, you prick. Technically, I, I smashed your whole body in, but, Okay, okay, I'll, I'll, I'll give him the eight damage.
That's the least I can do. This is getting pretty bleak. Go ahead. Second swing was a 29. Uh, 29 versus AC. That is gonna miss. Oh, no, wait, sorry, that'll just hit. I was gonna say. Sorry. Excuse me, sir. Wow. Okay, 29 damage. 29 damage, okay, good. Anything else? That's pretty much all you can do. That's what I got, yeah. I feel that you made the most of that. Did what I could. Okay. Nice. Act-a-ronus, your turn. Alright, I'm going to snap out of it by using a miner on myself, which is, uh, restore vitality. I regain hit points equal to my healing surge value and I can make a saving throw.
So, just a healing surge. So, back to 23. Oh, didn't bring me back to 23. That's odd, okay. Just HP, okay. And realizing that Trixie's not moving anymore, I'm gonna start, like, holding my... Trixie's not puddled. Yeah, not moving puddle. Holding my sword a lot tighter now. I'm gonna use an action point since I couldn't, I guess, move otherwise that turn. And I'm going to use a daily, which is a Tandering Smite. Use it on the big guy, but I'm also going to target Haven to make him prone. You're not going to take damage, but you're going to end prone after the attack.
And in a full-on, like, different voice, like, out of bound, like, not in control voice, just gonna yell, like, "Die, monster!" And attack! Now let's make it fun. So +2 flanking, +2 for flanking. That wasn't speedy. I don't still get the Sevetys bonus, right? I don't think so. Boom. That is gonna miss. Mm-mm-mm, sure does. So he takes half damage, and Haven still falls prone. So half damage! Okay, roll that damage, sir. Half. Boom, boom. 13. And plus a Flaming Sword, I guess. Okay. So d6. Well, that misses. Oh, yeah, I missed, so no Flaming Sword. Yeah. Ooh. So you miss with a Flaming Sword.
So that's the end of your turn. Yes, I don't have a choice, and I take 5 damage. Okay, so Haven is going... Oh, sorry, not Haven. Sorry, Actoronus is going to take 5 damage. You can take that off. Because you did not hit with the Flaming Sword, that means the troll took no fire damage this time. No fire damage this round, which means the troll is going to regenerate 20 hit points. Yeah, for sure. I swear to God, I'm not trying to team up with this. Well, if he takes half damage from the attack... Did I miss, or... No, I guess you're right. I don't think he does do fire damage.
Yeah, I'm just saying the property... I'm not trying to murder you all, I swear. Cool. Buys. There's our fire mage. Yeah, real... Now, see, this is the exact opposite of the DERP thing, because now you'd need a fire mage. This would come in handy. Briar Troll's turn. Now, he is dazed, so he only gets his... Well, he's not moving anyway, let's be honest, guys. Yes, let your actions weigh upon your conscience, Jason. Love you, Jamie. Let's do... I... wow. Okay, he's... Come at me, bro, I'm at full health right now. I know, but you're not a threat to him. He's going to swing twice at Acta Ronis.
That is a hit. That is a hit. Jesus. I'm good, guys. Not the werewolf who just took big... never mind. It's the last person to hit him. 35 damage. I need to be at 46. That's not happening. I think Jason's done with group two. I'm not trying to be. We feel very honored that you're using us to test out monsters for the other group. I mean... Acta Ronis will be back in the next adventure. Once again... He only got two episodes, Jason, you're so mean. Once again, this troll is going to raise his palm above a party member and grind Acta Ronis into the ground. You are going to hear rending metal as his armor bends and conforms around his bones as he is pressed into the soft grass.
Dagon, your turn. Good visual there. I'm sorry. I'm trying to make it at least meaningful. Random encounter TPKs are the best TPKs. They're so meaningful. We should just let it happen just so we can say we did it. Running is an option? How long do you think it would take me to get to Jersey? I can start looking up plane tickets for us. She's in Maine. We could drive and I'll meet you halfway. I would say it's probably about four hours based on traffic right now. Jamie, I think I'd let you kick me in the balls at this point. I feel bad. I could drive now. I have to stop and get gas.
I don't have class until three tomorrow. I'm not going to lie. I'm reviewing my military training in my head. To get back at Jason? Yes. I'm like, hmm, rear naked chokehold? I'm thinking yes. Okay, one bad dice rolls, guys. He critted twice. Fucking the werewolf thing and then Haven failed two checks. Realistically here, we haven't played in what, like two months? It didn't cross your mind to maybe go a little bit easy on us since we haven't played in so long. What do you want me to bargain with fate for you? Why didn't you just frickin' hack the table, Jason?
You guys, this, look, okay, in theory, it's just better to stay home and let the bad guys win, okay? It's better to live in depressed servitude than it is to adventure and try to bring life back. Hashtag Team MALCUS. That's, that's, that's right. Learn a lesson from this listener. Spread the word. The end is near. Good never wins. Whoa. Listeners at home. Brightport? Okay. He's got to be so close to death, though. I'm thinking, I'm hoping so. Well, he's got 20 more hit points now and every round he's going to get 20 more. He's going to get 20 more. Unless fire damage is dealt.
Hey, guess what? Since they're dead, I can use it daily. There's a flying sword lying on the ground. Flying. I'm not using it yet. Okay, I'm going to start with Force Blast. Decimate is an option. It is, but I have damage right now. Yeah, that's true. Technically. I do have an action, so I'm going to give it all I got right now. He's got Vulnerable Five, Psychic. I don't think he's ever rolled a save for that. Ah, shit. You know what? Let me roll a save for the damage he's taken from Trixie. Okay, he's not. Okay, good. He did not save against that. Okay. And Vulnerable Five, Psychic.
Yeah. That's another saving throw. Hold on. Okay, he did save against that one. Of course he did. I am going to start here, I guess, with Force Blast. Alrighty. Let's try this out. That is a hit. I like that. Sixteen damage. Wait, that was half damage. Oh, why? I should have clicked half. I didn't. Oh, because he got a half one. Oh, you weakened. Because I rolled that one. Ah, shit. Sorry. Yeah. I was rooting for you too. Okay, I'll give him back eight. That's okay. I am going to try something else. I'm going to pop an action point, and we're going to try out my new power.
I think I have to move over here first. I'm going to come down here just to be safe. So only he gets it. That is a burst five. Decimate. Here we go. Oh, it is a better hit. Yes. That is a hit, ladies and gentlemen. That was almost a crit. That would have been so good. Yeah, got to say it. That was nineteen. We are legally bound. Now, because you've already used your next attack, that's the only half damage one, so this will be full damage. Full damage, 8D10 plus five. Oh. So you what? 8D10 plus five. Kill this bastard. Okay, let's go for an 85. Let's go. Fifty-six, and he's not dead.
Dagon is going to raise his fist above his head, and then slam it into the ground in front of him. The ground is going to crack and shatter as psionic energy ripples through this meadow. The ground is going to split open in front of this troll and swallow it whole. How's my buddy? Both Trixie and actor Onis are also going to be swallowed into this hole. What? I didn't know that would happen. Are you kidding me? They are -- hold on. While the troll seems to have plummeted a bit further, actor Onis and Trixie's bodies, while crushed to powder, are accessible.
You would have to delve down a little bit to get to them, but you can see them. They're about 20 feet down. The troll, on the other hand, was not so lucky, and he has plummeted to a depth you cannot see. You have just killed that Briar Troll. Oh, motherfucker. I don't feel any sense of satisfaction at all. I came back once. I'm sure I can find a way. Okay, out of game real quick, assuming -- because at this point I'm pretty much obligated to resurrect somebody just because of the circumstances -- how much of crushing into a powder does that mean? Because you made it literally sound like they turned into a thing of season salt.
Well, picture someone strong enough to -- okay, you're standing, and they are pressing down on your head in a forceful fashion. Many bones were broken. Many bones. That was from the troll, right? That was from the troll. Now, resurrection is resurrection. You're bringing them back, you're going to bring them back. Now that comes -- first of all, you've got to choose which party member you're going to bring back. Right, because you can't do both. Two, you've got to really think, is that something Sevetus would do for a party that you just met these people?
You've known them for a day. Three, the clock is ticking. You now have 24 hours. After that, it gets incrementally more risky to bring either one of them back. Okay, so really quickly, when will Haven turn back into himself? Oh, wow! I totally forgot about Haven. This fight ain't over. Technically. I was like, are we still rolling with initiative? Because I'm freaking out a little bit. He's right next to bloodied Sevetus, and I don't know what to do. Here's what we're going to do. It's almost even hard to care when it's this far gone. Here's what we're going to do.
We're going to give Haven the chance, because this big, shocking, traumatic thing just happened, the ground splits open, this troll is gone, his initial enemy that struck him is gone. I'm going to give Haven the chance to try and gain his composure with an endurance check. Oh, that thing at which I have a plus seven? Okay. Yes. Let's give it a go. It's lower now because you've gotten some of that animosity out and your original enemy is gone. So as long as you get a 22 or higher. Okay. You got this. Endurance. You just need a 15. Mother. That's what we call a nine where I come from.
That's a Therian 15. [laughter] You know, it's better to clean the slate. If we're going to go this far, why not finish the job? Can I roll a nature check to try to help his roll? Well, it's a little late for that. I don't know what kind of check you're going to do to help a nine. This was supposed to be. What if I got a crit? I can see where we're going to do it. Here's where we're going to do it. Wasn't the fight done in group three? They killed everyone and then Merrick just changed back. No, he had to roll a check for it. No. He succeeded. Yeah. It was a much lower roll.
Yeah. He didn't roll a nine. I swear, if any of you live to see tomorrow, I will take Endurance's skill next level. I really will. Okay. Here is your option. It is up to you whether you would like to treat Haven as an enemy. You could see that he tried to regain his composure and failed. He just kind of like he's looking at the rest of the team. And yeah, he did not revert. Now, your options at this point are to wait and delay and see if Haven can regain his composure on his turn or try and knock him out physically. Question. Yes. He tried to attack my throat.
I can't remember if he hit or not. I think that was a miss though. He tried to rip my throat out when he first like the I'm trying to remember. I want to say he missed, but I'm not shit. I got to go back. Sorry to just bring that up. I want to make sure that we get all the details. No, I want to because that's an important one. So is there any like is there a role that I could do to help him regain his composure like to assist with his next role if I were to delay? I would say, well, if you're delaying, then you're not doing anything. I would let you try diplomacy.
But he's a dog, so really nature should be able to work. You're saying that sounds that sounds like a brief argument. Well, technically, everything's magic. That's reasonable because he's in dog form right now. If he was in human form, I would use diplomacy. But right now he is a werewolf. He's a werewolf. So nature would be more. I mean, you basically described my conversion to a savage, bestial nature beyond all sense. So even I would give her nature in this circumstance. Well, I think you have a bit of a bias, Rob. Admittedly, but I'll let you. You know what?
You guys have had a tough day. I'm going to let you just do a nature role. OK, and if I know your guilt is over, it's not guilt. It's just you guys just keep getting pistol whipped by luck. And I feel so bad if I successfully make this nature role. How is it going to assist his role or just do I not get a plus two? He'll get a plus two. Stop. OK, you're right. Thirty seven. That's OK. He's going to get a plus two to his. So she doesn't need to act. There was so much oomph behind that to get me that plus two. I love that. Yes, you. OK, hold on a second. We need to get to the seven is thing.
God damn it. I got to remember here. I want to say he hit with throat rip is the thing. I'm almost positive he hit with it. That he hit seven is. Yeah, he did. So seven has been bitten. The evidence has been bitten. Yes. Oh, well, in that case, I was bitten last time, too, because I was bitten with like we only treated the bite attack with like throat trip. You'd never mentioned that I was turning into anything. No, no, no. That's that's the thing, though. Throat rip is the one that like it's not just bite. Usually pretty sure last battle I got hit with throat.
Well, it's only a daily. So I don't know. No, no, no. Last battle with what's his name with? Oh, Trevor. Oh, yeah. Come to think, well, we'd have to reverse it. It really doesn't matter now anyway. Well, OK, there it doesn't. Yeah, I mean, we could argue, but, you know, it's already it just means that we have to redo it next time because we're going to have more werewolves to worry about. We start from last night to life and OK, let's OK. Seven is roll a death saving throw, please. I thought I had already. You stabilized, you're stabilized. OK, I don't pull that.
Sorry. There's a lot to keep track of in this awful, awful thing. You have been bitten, Avon. Yes. Do me a favor. Roll a flight. The 20, please. Plus two, man. That's not that's not for the just the end. So it's just the endurance check happen again. If you gain control of yourself. No. Oh, guys, run back to town screaming werewolf. All right. So I want to tell you about this wonderful thing. If you click it on private role a couple of times, you start to see a pattern and then you'll know when to roll correctly. Just just give it a few warm up spins. Yeah. Oh, I lied.
I don't need a walk after this session. I need a drink. I feel like I feel extra bad because I haven't had a lot of time to get attached to Haven. You guys have been around much longer, like particularly Trixie. Like, aren't you guys glad Rob came to group two? I'm sure I've hung this off on. Can I get I pulled this off on Rob? Can I just totally scapegoat? You're off your number, Briar Briar troll to Haven, Tash zero. I just want to put a kill count on the screen. Yeah, that's true. Well, change my eyes. Roll. There is a bleeding person right in front of Haven.
God, who is on the ground. So Haven is going to go ahead and attack. Seven. This wouldn't be appears dead, though. Well, you still know it's just just on the ground. I have plus two to all your defenses until the end of the encounter. Technically, you don't need to be alive for that. Hey, there you go. I'm trying. I'm trying so hard. What a shining. OK, technically, I'm at zero hit points, correct? Since I'm stabilized or am I just stabilized till that minus 14? Yeah, you're still minus 14. Yeah, so this could easily kill me, too, is what you're. Yeah, couldn't help.
Could it couldn't help? No, that's that. Yeah, it couldn't help. This is a plus. Well, he has to get you down to negative 40. That's a lot of damage. You got some buffer, got a little wiggle room, and he's got to hit you first. So he's just going to he's just going to like claw desperately down at you, just like you are a free meal to him. So he is going to this is plus 17 to say, holy fucking shit. Well, that was three now. Wow. I say if we lose another person that we just redo this episode, this is crap. We're going to lose the whole party in one game. Can I just stab myself in the throat and get it over with?
Yeah, I just commit suicide. What the fuck are the odds of this? Well, there goes our res. So, yep. Oh, group two. I'll give up now. We can still get TPK. Yes. At this point, it's almost favorable. I'm just going to walk up to the table and bend over. Christ. That's 50 damage. Shit. This game fucking blows. And you wonder why we don't play very often, Jason. I heard that fate hates group two, hates you, hates it. There's no place for good people in there yet. That's evil wins, you guys. Evil wins. It's not even worth it to try to do good deeds out there. Listener, you see an old lady crossing the street.
Fucker, because you'll just get hit by a car. I don't think you can blame morality on this. It's just really... I mean, fate makes it so that in Feria, there can't be no good party. Jesus. I don't think Cory and Dagon are going to be good people anymore if they don't have... Both start wearing an eyepatch. I've seen so much death. Let's just become hitmen, Dagon. That's just what we'll do. So are all of us dead except for the other three? It's basically Haven, Cory, and Dagon now. Haven has just... Okay, I'm going to go to bed. Yeah, I think I'm going to go. Okay, guys, I'm really sorry.
I will find a way to bring you back. All right. See you, Danielle. All right, Sevetus's throat has just been torn clean open. I guess he's not going to change. Dagon, your turn. I got to charge. Oh my God. Fuck. I'm the closest one to Haven too, so yay. Tank him, Cory, tank him. Jesus Christ. Eight. Okay, you're going to get a plus five when you're next. Okay, so long shot here. Cory. Haven and Cory had a really nice heart to heart outside the city. She's the only Goliath I've ever loved. That's going to keep Haven from attacking me, right? Like that's just how friendship works.
Do you guys know I have 75 hit points to chop through if I can't get control of this? I have 73, so... 75 hit points and deadly speed and accuracy. You've got to hit at least one roll. Yeah. I would hope. I would really hope. You can run until Haven gets his senses back. I don't want to leave him out in the woods to attack innocent people. Well, keep an eye on him. Jamie Lee, leave me out in the woods. Save yourselves. There is a dark place. I'm trying to think. Is it my turn? Is that why we're... Oh shit, it is. I don't even know what's going on anymore. Running is an option.
When is he going to get to do this extra roll that he gets a plus two for? He has to wait until he gains control? Yeah. Because neither of us have attacked him, so really he doesn't have a target right now. I guess I'm just a little confused of what he's going to do on his turn once he gains control, now that Sevedis is dead, and I've never attacked him through the whole battle, and Dagon's never attacked him through the whole battle, so we shouldn't be a threat. We should just keep on eating Sevedis until he gets his mind control back. That's what happened that one time everyone else died.
Can I pull him into the hole I made? That's an option. It goes pretty deep though. You've got to be careful. Remember, we can't see the troll anymore. Do what you have to. Zero. If you put me down to live, zero hard feelings. Technically, I did just finish off Sevedis. I will want to die. If we kill you, that means we've lost four party members in one episode. Now Haven is guilty. I mean, keep in mind, the argument was, "But you're not guilty yet." Definitely just systematically executed a team member. Save yourself. Not consciously. Either you do. Either put me down or run.
One of the two. It's your call, but those are the options. Don't try to save Haven if Haven doesn't turn back. What do you want to do, Dagon? Corey's going to look over across the battlefield since Wolf Haven is obviously eating Sevedis right now. She's got a couple minutes to look over and see what's the plan. Are we running? Are we leaving all of these bodies here? Because I don't want to leave them here. What seven-day job are we running on? This is the fucking worst. Were you the only two who survived last time? And Trixie. But she got separated. So it's the exact same thing.
If anything, at least Corey and Dagon will have this death brotherhood thing going on. Or nightmares forever. It's been 48 hours, essentially, since the last horrifying party mauling. We're not very good at this. Less than 48 hours. I'm sorry I was the one who asked if we could have a rest. I don't think this could be put on actor Ronis. I can blame a dead character. Really? Hold on a second. I want you to think about the monument. This is like winning the lottery twice in a day, then being struck by lightning. Let me fucking tell you what happened. First of all, there were dice rolls that were fudged and fucked up just to get the troll to attack you.
Like, Dagon had to crit miss a stealth check. Then the troll attacks. Then fucking crit off the bat to hulk out Haven. Haven fails his first two saving throws to lose control of his character. Then the fucking, the very next attack, the troll crits again. And then just starts systematically plowing through the party. I have never seen. We'll have a good game at some point. Fate hates group two. I don't understand what we did to fate. I don't know. Hate group two. We should go after dragons. There's a much higher rate of survival when we fight dragons in Theria.
We've done well with dragons. Apparently. So what do you want to do? I mean, it's... I'm going to die if we fight a werewolf. Do we have to try to sneak out of here? Or, like, I'm two spaces away from this wooded area. Sneaking is out the window. I would say that you are, you could just use your movement speed to run. If you make it, I would say, OK, if you are running into the woods. Is that where you're just trying to run? And then once you get to the tree line, if you want to roll some sort of stealth check, that's fine. The other option is to just run to the edge of the map and then just flat out try and run.
I don't want to separate from Dagon. Well... Which way is the city? That's where I'm running to. OK. Going back to Lockport again. Well, weren't we camping right outside Lockport? You're, I mean, you're very close to it. Like, that would be the very nearest town. You're away from the Silverglade? That's true. Then we're just going to have to go through it again. Fuck. Well... Let's, OK, let's, OK, we could deal with that another time. Let's just say that you're running away for now. OK? OK. OK, so you're running. Running. OK. Corey is going to run off. You have enough spaces to get to.
Yeah, you just moving. Yeah. OK. So Corey has run into the woods and is out of combat. Do me a favor. Roll a flat D20, please. Yes. Endurance check at plus seven plus two. So. Oops. OK. Two twenty plus nine. Fingers crossed. What am I rolling at this time? You know, twenty two. Yeah, no shit. But but at least I have control of my actions. Yes. So you're not. Yeah. I'm away from my allies. Yeah. What's my so just over on me, whatever, whatever direction. OK, so let's say you've run down here. Let's say this just to get you a double move. Well, you did it. Endurance check.
Oh, that's an action. Yeah. Oh, my. You guys better run fast. Dagon, your turn. OK. You can poof right. Poof poof away. Yeah, but I don't. Let me see how far it can take me. I would say that that's enough to get you out of there. Plus your move action. Unless you're attacking. No, I didn't think so. Yeah. No. OK. Yeah. So I'm going to go to six plus and yeah, that'll get me out of there. I use. OK. Oh, OK. I think that's a good time for us to stop for the night. Really? You think so? You think so, Jason? Next game, Kuri and Dagon will go ask for help in Lockford. For new brave adventures.
Wherever it is we're going. Yeah, we're going to be ridiculed if we go back to Lockford. Just walk by it whistling. Maybe if we put on mustaches, no one will recognize us. We'll just make make for Whitehead. Eventually just go hide in the basement at Brightport. I think we should just retire Dagon. Let's just you and me find some beach somewhere. We're done. One more adventure. At this point, though, Dagon is the senior member of group two now, right? Yeah. That's the. Do you want to. Yeah, the leaders of group two have made out very well. Turtle parade is terrible.
Bree's going to have a really hard time adventuring the death of her sisters. You guys try and get some rest and I will talk to you later. You too, man. You had a long day, right? Yeah, I yeah, my yeah, I'm not going to complain about my day right now. Go get a nap. All right, guys. Thanks. See you. Bye, guys. Bye. Bye. Bye.
