We hope you enjoy the show today. (soft music) Let's do that thing where we go around the table and introduce ourselves. I'm Jason, I'm the Dungeon Master going around the table, starting with Kat. Hi, I'm Kat Charlie and I play Fela, Lava the Changeling Thief. And I'm gonna say Merrick and Jasper. I'm Jasper and I play Merrick, Ethelred, Human Cleric. And Bree. Hi, I'm Brianna Richardson and I play Judsea Grace, the Human Warlock. And Mac. Hi, I'm Mac and I play Caluna Vulgaris, the Wildling Shaman. And Izzy. Hey, I'm Izzy and I play Una, the Half-Elf Paladin.

So last time on the show, group 3A consisting of Caluna, Jadzia, Valis, Merrick, Fi, that gets it. They were making their way to Brightport very slowly. So they'll be traveling through Fairbay and Lockfort and Whiteheadge and on an effort to get to Brightport. To hopefully get themselves a dragon to maybe fight Strahd. Meanwhile, group 3B consisting of 14 Paladins, Craig, Una and Bree were actually fighting Strahd. That did not go very well. All of the Paladins were killed. It looks as though Craig was too. And Una convinced Bree to run off before being beaten to an unconscious state as well.

So Una right now is currently bleeding out. We are going to, we're gonna catch up with her. But first I wanna catch up with group 3A. So you guys have been on the road for a while now. You are almost to the town of Fairbay. So what I would like you guys to do is roll a perception check, please. - Oh. - 22. - 22. - 19. Rolled a three. - Man. I just like to, like, Jubsia's always reading. Like every time we're doing a perception check, she's reading something. So really it's not her fault. - On this horse, just reading. - Yep. - She's nearsighted. She's mainly seeing the-- - It's really close to my face.

- She really needs glasses, but refuses to get them. - Oh, maybe that's it. - Wouldn't that be great if canonically she just finally breaks down and gets glasses? - Right, and the perception just gets like plus eight. (laughing) - I want that to happen. (laughing) - Oh, you could have a monocle. - That adds a plus two to class, did you know that? (laughing) - Well, I'm leaving the show, guys. (laughing) - Let's see here, 22 was your highest. Okay, hmm, okay. So you're about a half hour outside of Fair Bay, and on either side of the road there are these huge fields with this really tall, gorgeous looking grass, kind of sways in the breeze, and makes this really relaxing sound.

On either side of the road there, it's kind of shaded because of these tall trees. You reach a section where it's not too wooded, it's just all along the side of the road, it's really kind of thick bushes, trees, that kind of thing. So kind of straight out of a nice little like dentist office oil painting type of thing, like very kind of scenic. Let me ask a question, who's riding up front? I wanna know, 'cause the road's large enough to kind of ride two by two, and then the other side of the road is usually for travelers going the other way. Sort of like a normal road setup.

But what's the party riding situation like? - It's probably best for Jadzia, if she is reading a lot on horseback, to not lead, I think. - I would be right in the middle. - Yeah, probably makes sense. - The velis behind me, 'cause he should bring up the rear. - Right. - Right? 'Cause like he's a strong guy. Sex pun. - I guess Merrick would probably be up front, keeping an eye on. - Werewolf to be the first one to see danger. - Well, that also, yeah, that also, I think partly Merrick, that gives him an advantage to be able to know, 'cause he's super hyper aware of his problem, his affliction.

So he's always looking out for things that could potentially be a problem. That means he can get out of the way, if that makes any sense. - Cool beans, all right. And then maybe feeding Kaluna side by side. - Growing it up. - Yeah, you broke? Cool, we got this. - All right, so we got Merrick up front. Okay, so let's see here. So riding down, riding on this road, it's been really quiet for a while, actually. - Should have put us on the other side of this forest, so that we would be past it already. - That's true. - That's how it works. This is why I put my token down over there, so that nothing happened.

- So while riding, something is going to trip up Merrick's horse. - Why were you in front? - It totally makes sense. I'm telling you, I'm telling you. - Is it a body? - Yeah, what should I do? - It's usually a body. - Well, hold on a second. - Fucking Darmok. (laughing) Seriously, he will not leave us alone. - Let's see here. I just want to do this roll properly. Okay, so this will be versus your horse's reflex. Okay, that will let your horse's reflex, yeah. It'll still, oh, it's a crit one, nevermind. Okay, so what's going to happen here is Merrick's horse is going to kind of do this little jump.

And it'll kind of come out of nowhere, because Merrick didn't see anything in the road. And after you do this little jump, I'd like you to do a perception roll, just for a second, because I would imagine Merrick would kind of look around, like, okay, why did that happen? - Right, immediately, no matter what, he's going to hold his hand up like everybody stop, and he's going to do his perception, 26. - Okay, Merrick is going to see this thin wire stretched across the road. And on either side, there are these thick bushes. So on either side of that, you'd imagine it's anchored to something.

But this wire is pulled taut, and it's almost invisible, unless you're really looking for it. - Okay, so it has not sprung, right? It's just taut, the horse is pulling it, and we're just in like, don't move mode. - Yeah. - Okay, is there anything else that's being perceived at all? - You can hear faint kind of rustling coming from this tiny tree line here, coming from this thicket. You can kind of hear faint rustling. - This is a bit of a stretch, but if I rolled a history check, could I think of something that would set up a trap like this in this area?

- History or nature, yeah. - I'll do history if Kaluna wants to do nature. - Sure, let's see. - See who wins. 33 versus 30. We're both pretty awesome, but Kaluna's a little bit more awesome. - Yeah, I'm assuming that Merrick would have immediately held his hand up and then pointed, and everybody's immediately aware of what's going on here. - Right. - Or is that possible? - I think so. I mean, you didn't spring it, so. - No, you didn't. No, no, no, no, no. As far as the trap goes, yeah, you kind of got the drop on that. Like that's not, that didn't spring. Your horse basically alerted you to that.

That's, you're fine. - But I'm trying to alert everybody else, like, whoa, okay, and pointing. - Oh, yeah, yeah. - And everybody else knows, right? - I would imagine anybody who would be riding up front, you could give a signal to everyone else, just, oop, oop, hold on. - Okay, okay. - Well, Kaluna and Jadzi would know that the town of Fair Bay is this quaint little burg. Nothing really, nothing really happens there. It's on the map essentially just for a rest stop. People live there, they fish, they hunt, that kind of thing. But for the most part, it's not like a lot of the towns and cities you've been to where they're caught up in political intrigue or war or racism or anything like that.

It's not really like that. They pretty much stay out of things. They don't get involved in politics or anything. And as a result, it's not really a booming economy or anything like that, but they do stay out of trouble. Unfortunately, the surrounding area of Fair Bay, going out hunting can be dangerous because the area is lousy with kobolds, lousy with them. And that appears to be what you're dealing with now. That looks to be a kobold trap. - So we're having them for dinner, right? - Can I? - Let's eat some kobolds. - Can Fi make a dungeoneer and check to disarm the trap?

- That or Thiebry, actually to disarm it. And you've already detected it, so. - Oh, okay. - Which is still Fi's bag, yeah. - Also, before we get into a fight, Fi, you should look for traps so that we can avoid them. - Yeah, yeah. 26. - I don't want to be a group one blunderfest of falling into the fucking holes. - But now be careful with this. I mean, it may be that you can get rid of the trap, but there also might be kobolds. - They might see you doing it. - Yeah, I mean, they may be right behind the tree that the trap is connected to or something. - Yeah.

- I'm saying be super fucking careful. - From my Feathery shack before I disarm it, would I be able to tell what sort of trap it is or where? - Yes. - Yeah? - You absolutely can. It would appear as though this wire springs like a pontoon trap. So right in front of, if Merrick were to have kept riding and actually sprung this trap, the way it works is either a traveler or horse would trip up this wire and in front, buried kind of shallowly in the road, are usually wooden spears, something like that, that would arc up and gouge at a horse, tripping it up and slowing someone down long enough for them to get the drop on you.

- Fucking kobolds. - Okay. Would it be possible to pass without setting it off or is that an impossibility? - I mean, you've noticed it now. I mean, as long as you see where the wire is, all you have to do is just kind of step over it, get your horses to just kind of like jump over it a little bit and step over it. The one thing is you did hear rustling in these bushes and they've probably already seen you is the thing. They're waiting to see if you fall for their little trap and they can get the jump on you. Kobolds are opportunistic creatures and both Jadsey and Kaluna would know this, whether they choose to tell everyone else, that's up to them, but they would prefer it if you were gouged with this trap, but they'll take running out of the tree line at you too.

They'll take that, but they would prefer it if you were hindered. - Okay. - If we all looked really scary, would they be scared in submission and just not bother us? Like if we all just started like glaring at them and being dicks? - If we just sort of puff up like, yeah, bring it. - Like if every single one of us rolled an intimidate check and it met a certain standard, would they just not attack us because we look so baller? - If every one of you passed it, yeah, but if not, they'll just pick out what looks to be the weakest one among you and try to take them down.

- That would be me. (laughing) I just know for a fact, like it would be me that fails. That's why I said if we all rolled it and met a certain standard. - Merrick gets a plus two for the mustache just for intimidate checks. - Because Kobolds can only get a little scruff and they're really, really envious. - They're like, oh, it's amazing. - So embarrassed. - It's like, my God. - I could be a God to them, honestly. - Some sort of follicle monster. - Okay, yeah, so what's going on with the trap unmaking? Is that done? - Okay, so if Merrick steps backwards, the trap will not go off, is that correct?

- You can step right over it, yeah, since you guys see it, yeah. - Okay, cool. - If he is of the mindset that we could leave it there and not disarm it, would he know of the rustling in the trees and the potential that it's Kobolds? - Well, Merrick would have heard that and Kaluna and Jatsia would pretty much know that it's Kobolds, so Merrick would know that something's up, Kaluna and Jatsia would kind of, they'd have more specific, like it's probably Kobolds guys. - Right, if I know generally speaking where the rustling came from, I'm pointing, sort of doing the, you know.

- The army stuff, the army signal thing. - Yeah, the whole army signal thing, like over that way and whatever. - Okay, so my thought is to have everyone stay on this side of the trap and then he move forward a bit and see if they jump out of him and then as they come towards us, we could spring the trap on them. - Is Merrick, like the way I heard it is like Merrick's horse is like on top of the trap. - Yes, pretty much. - Yeah, so it'll go off if Merrick moves is the way I thought this was going. - The way I thought. - Oh, he could step over it, he could step over it now 'cause he sees it.

- Got it, all right, nevermind. Where are the bushes? Could you highlight exactly where the moving bushes are? - Yeah, I'd love to know where they are. - That would be right here and here. - Okay, so they would have to, if we did back up, they would have to come towards us. - Yeah, that's actually-- - I could set the bushes on fire. - You could. (laughing) - Then they would have to come towards us and fall into their own trap. - And where would he be able to tell where the trap is, like the area of the trap? - It is just that one square where Merrick is standing right now.

The way the trap works is it's angled towards, these little pontoons would come up towards, it's meant to be angled from the direction where someone would be riding in. So it kind of comes up at 90 degrees and it would gouge the chest and stomach of a horse. That's pretty much what it's meant to do. - Yeah, okay, so they would be there. - Yes, yeah, right there, right in front of that. - Okay, all right, so what's our plan of action? I mean, so we know they're there. They don't know if we know they're there, or at least where they are. What if we split up and went around both sides?

You know what I mean? Like rather than being one large-- - There are definitely more traps here, so I really want you to roll a Dunjanarian check so you can point them out. - Yeah, yeah, yeah. - Or Kaluna, I think actually Kaluna, do you have a better Dunjanarian than he does? I remember you saying something last time about you. Like I said Fi had a good something and you said-- - It was perception. - Perception, yeah. - Sorry. - But she has 11 Dunjanarian, I have 12, so. - I have 11 as well. - I got Ross. - We're all so wise, guys. - We're Dunjan-y, we spent a lot of time.

- Do we all wanna look for traps? - Yeah, we could. We need a plan of action though right now. They're not gonna just sit there and wait forever. - I feel like splitting up would be a bad idea because we don't know how many kobolds there are. - True. - And I feel like if we're in a big group, we're more intimidating anyway. - Okay, I'm not trying to push this, but if we checked for traps, we'd know where the traps were. So we could do that whole pushing the kobolds into the traps plan. - Should we give a quick scout for traps? And then we can lure the kobolds out?

- Cool, are we all for it? - We're all running? - Yeah. - I mean, it's not like we're gonna be able to get out of this fight, so. - Okay. - 31 is mine. - Almost a crit. - Yeah. - In the immediate area, Fee is going to notice what appear to be odd, kind of odd piles of leaves and branches. Something that doesn't look like it was naturally done, it looks like maybe someone dug a hole and covered them up. - Fucking kobolds. - So right here, here, and here. Are those holes that I would not step on them if I were you, is what Fee would probably relate to the rest of them.

Okay, you have stopped and have been looking around now for a bit, here's what's gonna happen. From this tree line, this tiny spear is gonna come whipping out of this foliage and it's going to head straight for Marek. - Marek catches the spear and rakes it in half. - Okay, cool, awesome. - And then he screams and they all run. - That is gonna be a crit one. - So he does actually. - So he does do that. - Please let him do it. - Can you just let him do it, please? - It could be an accident, but he did. - One of those things where he's like, oh. - You know when you toss some trash and then it lands in the thing and you're like, oh yeah, I did that on purpose.

So from the tree line here, from this tree, this spear is going to come whipping at Marek and enough noise was made before it was thrown that Marek is aware and just kind of like holds his hand up, just going, ugh, like panicky, but he kind of accidentally catches this spear in midair, like he closes his hand. He reflexively says, just like, oh, oh, oh. And then how you wanna play that off to the rest of the group, it's like, yeah, like, 'cause you're facing forward and you're at front, so they wouldn't see your facial reaction of, like, so you can totally.

- Okay, can Valus, am I in his-- - He's all the way in the rear. - Can I look, can I like lean forward and look him in the eye? - Sure. - Okay, I do that and I snap the spear in half. And then I throw it to the ground. - Okay, here's what's gonna happen. You're gonna hear a lot of rustling as these kobolds are going to start kind of pouring out. - Kobolds are tiny, right? - They're small. - You do. - I think they're medium-- - Can I stay on my horse and then they have to hit my horse before they hit me? - The poor horse. - Can I sacrifice my pony? - You can, sure.

- Fuck you horse. - You're looking at that guy. - But for the record, Merrick is absolutely acting like he did that on purpose. - Okay. - I think that's calls for a bluff check is all I'm saying. - If I think, it's one of those things where he's acting that was so, okay, go ahead and roll a bluff check actually. Just to see how many people-- - You'll definitely be Valus's, I just wanna see if you beat the rest of them. - Probably. - Shouldn't everyone else have to do an insight? I know that's-- - I have a passive insight. - If you beat their passive insight.

- 24. - How dare you? - That beats Valus's. - You beat mine as well. - You know everything. You're the only one who knows how much you fucked that up because your passive insight is 24. - So everyone's passive, you have tricked the party into thinking you were a bad ass like you have. - All right, but I wink at Kaluna, okay? - I don't wanna trick my friends. - She won't understand at all. Wait, what? - She's busy. - Which one is the one that threw the spear? This is the important question here. - Yeah, good point. - That would be this one right here. - Okay, good.

She's ready. - I am going to add everyone else to the initiative tracker. Go ahead and roll initiative guys. - 14, yeah, yeah, yeah. That was my song about initiative. - It's a really good song. - The initiative song. - Okay, Maric also has this thing where he can roll initiative twice and take the better of the two. And so I did a 20 plus five, which is his initiative bonus. And he got a little bit better. Where is it? Hang on. - And don't forget we need a second fee. - Yeah, I already wrote that that is 17. It just needs to be added to the tracker. - Yep, doing it.

- Wow, 31. - Yeah, I got some good rolls. - Oh, actually this is, I'm kind of backtracking for a second, but was that considered a surprise round, Jason? - No, no, no, no, no, no. It was more than just getting fed up, just waiting. What was that? Cat? - 17. - 17, okay. - 'Cause I should also mention just for future reference too, that because of Maric being Maric, Maric and allies within five squares can't be surprised. - Ooh. - Just for the record. - Yeah, see, I like it. - Well, then they would not have, yeah, they would not have got the drop on you. So I guess it does make sense that he would be in the front.

- Yeah. - Oh yeah, there's all kind of, I was gonna actually say that's why maybe he caught the spear. - Yeah. - Like all these things together just kind of made it right. - I think we're okay with it now. - I wanna justify this exactly right. - We were all, we were all definitely going to argue against you, but you made it. - He can't be cool, look at his fucking mustache. - Shut up. - You grew up mustache. - Is that an AOE underneath Maric? - No, no, no, it's just where the trap would have been. - Oh, cool, yep. - So Maric needs to shift back also. I was gonna mention that on your turn, Maric.

- We need to back up the train. - Shift back. - All right, Kobold Slinger number three is going to, it's gonna use special shot. So let's see if this hits Maric. That will hit Maric. So let's see, 1D66, so this will be, okay. This little Kobold has this sling with these little balls with, he kind of has like a bandolier across his chest with these different little balls on them. And this one he is going to light on fire before flicking it at Maric. Oh, I'm sorry, not fire. This one's a little different. So let's see, first of all, let's do damage. Okay, so wow, 19 damage.

- Holy crap. - Shit. - Fucking Kobolds. - Excuse you. - Wow, that was a good roll. - Bad for him. - So this, okay, what's gonna happen is, this, okay, are you still, you're still on horseback, I guess, or are you guys jumping down for combat? - She would jump down. Yeah, I think I'm still on horseback, but I'm going to be jumping off of horse. - Okay, so let's just treat it like you've jumped off your horse. Let's just do that. So this is going to be this really sticky glue that is going to kind of get all over Maric and it's going to immobilize him. So you are immobilized till save ends.

- All right. - And let's see, slinger number two is going to use special shot against Fi, which we'll probably miss, but oh shit, that hit. Okay, 16 and that is a two. So this is going to, this is going to coat you with this incredibly pungent, this nasty stench. And it's going to be so distracting that you're going to get a negative two penalty to attack rolls until save ends. - Okay. - Which again, against Kobolds probably doesn't matter, (laughs) and let's see cleaver number two, it's going to shift and take a swing at Fi, that's going to miss and that will bring up Fi.

- Okay, tactical trick will give me combat advantage against him, which will nullify the minus two from the stench. And then melee basic attack against number two. - That's going to miss. - And that's a miss, 'cause that's a two. And that is everything I can do. - Kobolds slinger number one, he is going to use, okay, he's going to use special shot against, this would be against Kaluna. - Asshole. - That'll hit, so 19 damage. And let's see what kind of stuff, four. This one, he's going to light on fire before throwing it at Kaluna. And it's going to kind of splash against her and it is going to, this is going to do five ongoing fire damage till save ends.

- You're made of wood. - At least I don't have a vulnerability. - Which seems silly to me. - It does seem a little silly. - Don't give me one, Jason, I'll leave. - I'm just saying, it seems like maybe you should do like, let's say 10, just because you're made, you're constructed of what bonfires are made of. - I'm well hydrated. You know how, like if it rains a lot and then someone starts a fire, it doesn't get too bad. - Yeah, she's just crackling right now. Like it's like, okay. - I mean, obviously you're uncomfortable. - That's the thing. - It's a smoke.

- People are thinking we're trying to get help. - You know I'm going to have some fun with that somewhere down the line, right? Like I'm going to, somewhere. - Don't do that. - Merrick, your turn. - What can I do if I'm immobilized? Is there anything that I can- - You just can't move. - Okay. - Just you know, three roll the saving throw and I think it passed. - 11, so yeah, that's it. - Yes, you no longer stink. - Cool. Well, first thing, saving throw, right? - That's the end of the turn. - End of the turn, okay. So, shoot, what can I do? I can, let me look at the initiative tracker real quick.

Yep, okay, so I'm going to do inevitable doom. No, I'm not, sorry, one second. All right, Light of Aravindor. So what this does is each enemy that's in this burst, which is within five squares, will do one D8 plus wisdom modifier radiant damage and each ally in the burst is gonna get plus two to your AC until the end of my next turn. So- - I in the burst or is the burst? - You're in the burst. - Within five. - It's five. - Plus. - Yep. - This is everybody. - Yep, so I'm gonna, do I highlight a particular- - It's everybody because the burst covers, it's only if, you only really do the burst if it's something where it's not gonna affect everybody and you need to clarify.

This is burst five, so it's everybody. - Okay, so miss that guy. - No. - Gonna miss cleaver three. You're gonna hit slinger three. You're gonna hit cleaver two. You're gonna hit cleaver four. - Oh, that was a crit. - Oh, you're gonna crit cleaver four. - Oh, fancy. - You're gonna miss slinger two. You are gonna hit slinger one and you're gonna hit cleaver one. - There you go and do do do do do damage. - Do I do this for each one individually as well? - Do it for one and then we'll just all accept the crit. We're just gonna 16. Okay, so 16 to all the ones you hit.

- I think he actually deal max damage anyway because he rolled an eight. - Oh, he did deal max damage anyway. - So you did max damage to everybody. - That totally didn't kill him though. So hold on a sec. - Does your, Maric, you should check your weapon and see if it does anything on a crit though. I know nothing about your weapon. - Oh wait, you moved him way over here. - Did I did? - Yeah. - You hit him so hard he teleported. - I certainly didn't mean to. - No, that's okay. I panned out. I'm like, how the fuck? - Sorry, no, no, no. No, there's nothing on for my morning star.

That's a crit. - Okay, next up is fee again. - Okay. - Actually, sorry. I have a free action I wanted to be able to do for, I'm just wanna activate my cloak of survival, which gives me some fire and cold damage in case there's any of that bullshit thrown at me. - Okay. - That's it. - Okay, so tactical trick will get me combat advantage and to me their basic attack against number two in front of me. Was there some kind of bonus from Maric's attack? - You get a plus two to your AC. - Okay, cool. I didn't come back with advantage and that is a hit. - That'll definitely hit.

- So here's my damage. - With blinding speed, fee is going to ram his sword, cord scale right through the chest of this kobold. And he's gonna make this gurgling noise kind of (gurgling) and then fall straight over. Anything else, sir? - No, that is everything. Unless I can do my sneak attack damage to someone else. - No. - Let's say no. Let's just say no. - Try it out. - Ah crap, I forgot to save. - Go ahead, go ahead. - Is it just flat 20? 18. - That is a save, you are no longer immobilized. - Excellent. Sorry about that. - So you've freed yourself from just sticky stuff.

- Yeah, got it out of my mustache. As long as it's not on my mustache, I'm fine. - I don't wanna see the fan art from that, guys. Don't drop me there. - Oh God, let's edit. - Why did you say that? No one can get art. - Edit it out, all of this. (laughing) This is gonna be bad news. - I don't want our forums to turn into a place like that. - There's gonna be a Marek Tumblr, it's gonna be not good. - Oh no. - Marek's to keep it. - Oh God. - That'll go right up next to the Bree webcam site. That's what you. (laughing) - DNR after dark. Let's see, cleaver number one is going to run right up to Kaluna and kind of sprint forward.

That's kind of his war cry and he is going to try and jam his sword into Kaluna. - Hold up, immediate reaction, Wrath of the Destroyer. I get to make a melee basic attack against that guy 'cause he's an asshole. - Before he attacks or after? - Probably after because it says reaction. - Yeah, so okay. Let's see if he even, okay, so that's a hit. So immediate reaction. - Okay, so I'm gonna make a melee basic. This is weird, I've never done this one. - Take on that guy and roll. Well. - That's gonna miss. - Well, that was my thing. - He's gonna, he is going to do 10 damage to Kaluna and that will bloody Kaluna.

- Yay. - Kaluna, your turn. - Okay, so hmm. - Sounds like someone's touching their mic. - That might be me, it might be my headphones. Anyway, well, he's ruining all of my plans, this jerk. I'm gonna put pig right here. - Okay, here comes pig. - Da da da da. - So Kaluna's spirit animal, this ghost panther materializes, named pig. - Named pig and he is going to use iron breaker claws against this asshole. - That'll hit. - 10 damage, go. - Ooh, yeah, that's going to cut into this kobold deep. He's almost gonna drop his little spear. He's almost gonna drop it, just like, ah.

He's gonna kind of crumble under the weight of this strike. - And an ally adjacent to the target can make a melee basic attack against it as a free action. - So Merrick or Jatsuya. - Merrick. - Probably Merrick. (laughing) - I hit it with my blunt staff with all of its strength. - You throw a book at it. - You get a bonus to the attack roll equal to my intelligence modifier, which is three. - Okay, cool, so I can do a melee basic against three. Is that right? - One. - Wait, what? Which one, oh, one, gotcha. Right, cool, here we go. I'm gonna take my morning star and kind of cock it in air like a sawed off shotgun and then swing like a bat.

- Nitz. - Oh, what if plus three. Would a 19 hit? - No. - Or did you already add in the three? - Plus my holy symbol, which is plus one to attack rolls. - That's already factored in. - Damn it. All right, cool, that missed. You know, I'm gonna be this guy for a second 'cause I just looked at my notes 'cause I have all these things about Merrick and it turns out, Bree, you're right. I actually have something called, a feat called devastating critical, which is an extra one D 10. So way back whenever I hit four, it would have done a one D 10 more, but we don't have to do it 'cause I missed it.

So it's totally fine. - It's okay. Roll the one D 10. - Wait, I can do it. - Six. - Okay. - Yeah. - I'm sorry, I'm really gumming up the fight. - No, that's okay. - We're learning. - It's been a while since Merrick did anything in the fight, to be honest. - Have you guys ever fought? - Uh, in an alleyway. - We fought a guy in an alley. - You fought a guy in an alley, yeah. - Yeah, it was me. - Yeah, it was. Jadzia, your turn. - All right, Jadzia is going to use warlock curse on the one right in front of her, the bloody one, right there, bam. And then I am going to use diabolic grasp on that dude.

I'm gonna hit him. Ha, see I said it before, so it would happen. All right, then I'm gonna roll damage, which is that, plus now that I'm level 11, I get to roll two D eights. So it's gonna be that as well. So 14 plus seven. And then I also get to move him too, and I wanna move him into that thing right there. - Okay, this, okay, he is going to start to crumble before you teleport him. And when you teleport him, his limp body is going to hover over this hole for just half a second, like Elmer Fudd over a cliff, and then just kind of tumble through these leaves.

And his limp dead body is going to spring this trap. - Wow. - Yeah. - Motherfucker. - Sweet. Let's see, cleaver number three. He is going to- - Wait, wait, there's one more thing, sorry. I have soul snatcher. When I kill a non-minion creature, I regain the use of an expended encounter attack power and I want diabolic grasp back. - Okay. - Pow. - Ow. - Done. - Let's see here. Cleaver number three is gonna use his short sword against Merrick. So let's see if this even hits. - That's gonna, that's a crit. - No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. - No, don't do that.

- No, no, roll it again. - Jodzia's gonna step back. - Smart move. - I forgot to use my move action. I'm sure run the other way. - Yeah. Merrick is clearly trying to maintain himself despite all of this happening. - Mm-hmm. I haven't asked yet. - He's not bloodied, so he's still perfect. That's what I mean, like he is, he's like trying to meditate in a few seconds here when he has a couple seconds. He's just trying to. - Let's see, this other cleaver number four is going to shift over towards Merrick and seeing that there may be a chance to take him down. - They're gonna regret it too.

- Yeah. Oh my God. - That is a hit. - Wait, wait, Merrick, what's your AC? 24? - 24. - And they hit it there, nevermind. I was gonna be like, you get a plus two, remember? His sword is going to slash at the back of Merrick. And it will penetrate, it'll kind of find a gap in the armor and it will penetrate and stab at Merrick. Merrick, do me a favor and roll an endurance check. Merrick is now bloodied. I would say that as long as it's a 21 or higher, you're fine. - All right. All right, here we go. - Yes! - 33. - 33, okay, yeah. - He's like, they're just fucking kobolds and I did a really cool thing earlier, so I'm fine.

- I'm gonna let this one slide. - He got that confidence boost. - Yeah. - Yeah, he just uses it like he's stretching his back. Like, thank you, that was right, you got it. Right there, perfect, thank you. - Valus, Jesus, let's see, okay. You know what, Valus is going to move. Okay, Valus is going to move up here next to Fi. That's what he's gonna do. And he's gonna use something called Trail of Blood. He's going to make a melee basic attack. Let's see, where's his melee basic attack? There it is. He's gonna make a melee basic attack against four. That is gonna miss, Jesus Christ, that is crabby.

And I guess, he'll swing at this little kobold and it'll duck, easily dodging this huge fucking blade that he uses. Kobold slinger number three is going to see that Marek is under siege here. And he's just going to put a pretty large stone in his sling and whip it around and try and fire it at Marek. - Can Marek sort of give him the come here, like come on, bring it motion with his hand? - He can, but it's not really gonna. - I'm just being dumb. - Right. That is gonna hit Marek. So this rock is going to kind of hit Marek in the head. And that's gonna do 14 damage.

So it is gonna hit Marek in the head and just kind of this little, it's gonna kind of break him open, just kind of this little blood trickle is gonna start. Slinger number two. Slinger number two is going to shift and then use his sling against Fi. That is gonna hit. That is 20 damage to Fi. So same thing, big fucking rock right against Fi's head. Fi, your turn. - Okey dokey. So I am going to shift here, which will grant me combat advantage with Marek. And I'm going to, I'm gonna use backstab, which will give me a plus three on the attack with my melee basic.

So that's a plus five with combat advantage. And that is a hit. - That is a hit. - So backstab gives me 2d6. - That will kill this Kobold. (laughs) - Fair enough. (laughs) - If you'd like to celebrate now, that's okay. - Let's use a minor action to kick him in the ribs. (laughs) - And yeah, that's everything. - All right, slinger number one. Slinger number one is going to move down and you know, he's gonna use sling, which seems about right. Oh shit, Kaluna. - Yes. - You didn't take your five ongoing damage. So let's do that. - Oh yeah, I did. My bad. - Do me a favor, roll a saving throw please.

- We can do that. If I can move Skype out of the way, thanks Skype. Is that a d20? It looks like a d20. No, I'm still on fire. - Yeah, you're still. (laughs) - Definitely still on fire. - So let's say Kaluna's arms are just- - I like to say she hasn't even noticed yet. - She's too angry to notice. - Like her cape is on fire and she's just busy dealing with shit. - That is gonna hit. So another rock is gonna be flicked. Let's see Kaluna, that's 15 damage to Kaluna. - Good. - Merrick, your turn. - Okay, first thing that's gonna happen is healer's mercy, which is gonna be in a burst five.

Allies can spend a healing surge. - So you guys know how to do that? - I'd like to do that. I think, maybe. - I'm gonna spend a healing surge. I really need it. - Aha, look at that. I figured it out. - Nice. - Boom. - Now, that doesn't mean I can, only allies, correct? - Yeah. - Okay. Also add healer's lore, which adds plus six hit points to that. So you can add six more. - Yay. - Okay, and I'm gonna do a melee basic against three here. - All righty, that is gonna miss. - Ooh. - Anything else, sir? - Well, let me do a heroic effort on that. Is there a plus four on that?

- That's still gonna miss. - Okay, that's it for now. - Okay, Fi, your turn. - Okay, okay, tactical trick, which will get me next to number three with combat advantage. Backstab will give me a bonus plus three on the attack and a melee basic on him. - Plus five, and that is a hit. - Totally hit. - Okay, so, as this worked out rather well last time, I'm gonna do the backstab damage first. That's six. And then we can do sneak attack. - Jeez, that will bloody him. - And then we can do the melee basic attack damage. - That'll kill him. - Yes. - Nice. - Wow, okay. - Well done.

- Yay. - Anything else, sir? - Nope, that's everything. - Kaluna. - Okay, let me scroll back up. I am going to use Wrath of Winter. It's a ranged attack. I'm gonna use it on slinger number three. - Okay. - Motherfucker. - Yes. (laughs) - Wow, you took four rolls. - I know. I'm gonna go ahead and move Pig then. Does he just move my speed? Is that how this works? - Yeah. - Okay. What is my speed? - I'm six. - Okay, so. Perfect, look at that. - Boom, okay. - And that'll be it. - All right, Jadzia, your turn. - Right, well Jadzia is going to see that Marek is having some trouble and she's gonna back up a little, which makes me concealed.

Sorry, honey. - No, no, I would do the same if I could. - I keep forgetting. - I honestly thought she was gonna do, well, I'm gonna step in. - Oh, hold up, hold up. I forgot to save. I forgot to save against the fire. That's an important thing. - That is a fire, yeah. - There we go. - Hey, you saved. You are no longer on fire. - Yay. - You are anti on fire with that crit. - It rains. - Kaluna wets herself. - That's a crit. - Okay, so then I am going to Warlock Curse number two over here and I'm gonna use a little power I call a Diabolic Grasp. Bam. Can I add one for thinking speedy?

- You can. - So that's 21. - That's gonna miss. - Okay, I'm gonna use Dark One's own luck, which means I can add a six sided die. To the 22. - That'll hit. - Yeah. Sweet. That's really exciting that I rolled a one and it hit. I'm sorry, that was too exciting. So that plus two of these. So that's gonna be 30 something, 32 damage. And then I'm gonna fling him back right into there. - That is beautiful. - That's why I wanted it back. - Let's see here, this. Okay, see these kobolds have something called Trap Sense. So you are going to teleport him onto this hole and he is going to have the wherewithal to just spread his legs enough so that he's on either side of this hole.

They know where their own traps are. So they're just like, ah. He lands like a cat, just like, ha. He's really, really proud of himself too. He's hurt and then lands like, ah. And he's looking over. - He's right beside Valus. - Valus can, it's like you teed him up and Valus is, boom. Hits him into the outfield. - Valus is gonna use Twist the Knife. So let's see. - It's a combat advantage, right? - That is a hit. So Valus is going to plunge this knife into the kidney of this fucking kobold. So while the kobold's looking at you, like all proud of himself, Valus is like, let me get you all punctured here.

Hold on a second. He is gonna hit with the second one. He is gonna hit with the third one, ladies and gentlemen. That has never happened before. Three quick stabs to the kidney of this fucking thing. On the last one, he's just gonna twist this blade into him. He's going to do a shit ton of damage. 11, that'll kill him and he will keep stabbing. - He starts falling down the hole and Valus is just chasing after him. - No, no, no, no, no, no. I'm not done. Another 10 and another 10, or 16. That is, wow, that is a lot of damage and this kobold is done. And Valus is going to, is gonna kind of move up.

Kobold slinger number three is going to swing at Valus with his little dagger. That is gonna hit and 15 damage to Valus. Fee, your turn. - Sorry, I was on mute. - That's okay. - Okay, so. - Are you okay, honey? - Snake. - Snake. Which one is it? It's the one that isn't tactical trick. Amber's trick, that's the one. Amber's trick against, sorry, Amber's trick will get me here next to number one and it'll get me combat advantage and then just a melee basic attack. And that's a hit. - That is a hit, boom. - So, sneak attack damage. - 17 will bloody the kobold. - A melee basic damage.

- That'll kill the kobold. - Yeah, kick him into the hole. You're doing a thing, kick him into the hole. - Doing a thing. - That'll be a minor one to drag him into the hole. - Let's say that you stabbed him in such a way that he falls adjacent to the hole. Let's just, anything else, sir? - No, that is everything. - All right, Marek, your turn. - All right, so I'm gonna do sacred flame. So what happens is I sort of say a little prayer and the last kobold standing here is gonna get bathed in sacred light, searing it in radiance. And at the same time, I also get to give a little bit of hit points to the next person in line.

So let's see here. Come on, can't seem to, there we go. - That's gonna miss. - And I missed, which is what I was trying to do. So that's cool, perfect. And that's all I'm gonna do. - Fee, your turn. - Okie dokie. Yeah, I can just about do that. Okay, so I should be able to get up here with tactical trick. One, two, three, four, five. Oh shit, sorry. Five. And then just a melee basic attack on slinger number three. Plus two. And that's a hit. - That'll hit. - That is a 12, that is going to bloody this kobold. And that will kill the kobold. - Yay. - There we go, and that's everything.

- Yay. - That will take you guys out of combat. - Can Merrick take the opportunity to step off of the trap he's been standing on the whole time? - Yeah, I would say that that would be enough. - Okay, I think there were just too many things to think about, he just one at a time, and now he's going to carefully step to the side. - Okay. - You push that last kobold into the hole, right? - Yes, let's say canonically, it's like they've been put in all their own holes, just as a warning to everyone else. Okay, so you didn't spring this trap, you just kind of left it and awesome.

Okay, how's about we catch up with Una? Iiz, you ready? - Yep. - All right. - Let's do some death saving throws. - Here's how this is gonna work. In a moment, I'm going to ask you to roll another death saving throw. There's no one left that could heal Una. We've checked and Una doesn't have any health potions. So I'm gonna give a little description of what's actually happening here, and then I'm gonna ask you to roll, and if, let's say, she fails, the next two death saving throws, Una is, she bleeds out and dies, that's it. In the city of Odysseum, Strahd has perched himself back on top of this, the largest tower there.

This thing kind of, he's kind of positioned himself, 'cause it's, again, I described him as kind of angular and sharp underneath, but he's kind of nestled himself in between, he's kind of perched, so none of these huge spires are kind of digging into him or anything. He's obviously intelligent enough to not put himself on something sharp, but it appears as though he's looking to perch himself on something tall enough to get kind of survey. So he's kind of looking out on Ditharion. Una is the only one lying in this courtyard right now. That still has a trace of life, everyone else is dead.

And Bree is still in the city. This commotion has stopped. She's gonna kind of start, she's gonna look around and just make sure, just kind of tilt her head up and she sees where Strahd is, and that Strahd is not really paying any attention to what's going on in the city anymore. After he was sure that there's no one left to attack him, there's nothing, he's kind of given a lesson to anybody who would kind of face off against him, so he's perched himself back on this tower. And Bree's going to very slowly kind of edge her way back to where Una is, and when she gets to kind of sprinting distance, she's gonna run over to Una and try and check on her, and Una is in a bad way.

This is the worst Bree has ever seen her. So just bleeding, and she probably has at least a couple of cracked ribs, and she is fucked up. Una, do me a favor and roll a death saving throw. - Four. - Oh man, you have one death saving throw remaining. - I'm literally writing my rerolls backstory as we're talking. - Jesus. Bree is going to, Bree is gonna kind of shake Una, just try and get her conscious. And she's just gonna kind of lean down and, Una. And just kind of like look back up to Strahd, just making sure that that didn't get his attention, 'cause she is terrified of this dragon.

She's terrified of all dragons, but that dragon specifically. And not getting any response. She can see that you're still breathing. You're not conscious, you're not moving. And Bree is going to look, she's just gonna kind of look around to see if there's anything she could kind of cart you away on or try and get you out of this courtyard. Just try and get you away from this thing and maybe to safety. And it doesn't appear as though there's anything that she could put you on. There's nothing she could use to kind of lessen the burden of dragging you. So she's gonna try and grab both of Una's hands and stand behind her and then start to try and drag her by the arms out of the city.

And she's gonna roll an athletics check. Jesus, that's a crit. So maybe it's adrenaline, maybe it's just the urgency of the situation, but Bree is going to start to drag Una through this courtyard. And her plate armor is just gonna kind of drag against the grass and make this horrible sound. And she, the entire time, just gingerly kind of like pulling with all her might, but at the same time trying to do it in such a way that makes a minimal amount of noise. And Strahd is just going to continue to kind of look out on Detharia, just not paying any attention.

And she is doing this inches at a time. This is not something that is quick. It's gonna take her a while. And she is almost horizontal. She's pulling with all her might, using all of her body weight, just kind of dragging Una. How's about we catch up with the rest of the party here? - Hot damn, that's how we're gonna play this, is it really? Fuck you. (laughing) - I just want to be over with. - Jesus fucking Christ, what the hell? This is so mean. - This is like whenever a TV show starts having more and more commercials towards the end. (laughing) - We're the commercials.

- What time do you guys get after these? Pick messages, fuck you. - You guys complained last time that you didn't get enough time. I'm trying to remedy that and that makes you mad too. I don't know how to please you, Bree, I don't know. - Clearly not. - No one dies ever, that's step number one. - Jodzia is the queen now. - Bizarro theory, I'm at. - I have a picture of you that says that I'm going to become queen. - Why are you settling for queen? Why not empress? - Fair, fair choice. - Why not supreme ruler of the entire universe? - Yeah, I'd hate for that picture to get out and everyone realizes I'm a nerd.

(laughing) - You know what my favorite thing about that picture though is underneath it says, it doesn't even say like Magic the Gathering Club, it says Magic Card Club. - Yeah, exactly, that was back in the day. It was still a demonic thing. There was a club just because you couldn't play it in class because it's like, oh, that's about Satan. It's like, really, we're doing this again? We're doing, okay. Or gambling. - Like a bunch of nerds sitting around playing magic tricks. - Yeah. - It was just a card. (laughing) - Ugh. - Is this your card? - Why yes, it was an island, how did you know?

- The rest of the party has finally arrived at Fair Bay. Everyone do me a favor, roll a perception check please. - 29. - 20. - Ah, 24. - Nice. - Nice. - Almost a crit. - 17, not too bad. - Okay, this is a beautiful little town. I would dare say that this is probably the nicest town that some of you have seen in quite a while. You're gonna see fishing boats just outside the harbor, just kind of out in the water, casting their nets out, just doing their thing. Everyone's kinda going to and fro. As they see you walk into town, you'll see people kinda give you a smile and a nod or a wave, something like that, just kind of welcoming you to Fair Bay.

There's actually a big sign over the archway leading into Fairway that's very welcoming, just kind of, "Welcome to Fair Bay," that kind of thing. This is mostly used as a respite from the road. There's a little bar and eatery called the Tipsy Pig. There's an inn if you'd like to take a break and just kind of nap up called Brecken's Hearth. And there is a shop, although it sells really, really standard stuff. They don't get too many hardcore adventurers down this way, and that's called Hunter's Alley. So you can shop there, but you're probably just gonna get standard health potions.

Maybe that'll be the most useful stuff you'll find, arrows, that kind of thing. Would you guys like to stop in town and take a break, or are you just riding right through? We got some healing to do, right? - What time is it? Yeah, is it nighttime so that we should take a nap nap, or is it daytime so we should just heal up? - This is heading on to evening by this time. You're heading into dusk. - Do you guys wanna bunker down until sunrise? - Sure. - Probably, as the next stop is Lockford. - Yeah, that's what I was thinking too. - Did we get any spoils from the cobalt?

- They don't have a lot of wealth on them. That's not really their thing. So you'll find what they consider to be useful and something of value you probably wouldn't. So there's a collection of like makeshift weapons, things like that, sharpened spears and lots of rocks, stockpiles of rocks for these slingers. They love them. And then they got those little stink bomb type things that they were using against V and stuff. Nothing super useful for the party, sadly. - Could Kaluna have taken one of their tails, maybe? - If you'd like to have one of their tails.

- Yes. (laughing) I would. - It would please me. (laughing) - Just a sort of like, fuck you, little fuckers. This is mine now. - I'm gonna put this on my arm and try and grow it. (laughing) - Wait, does Kaluna have like nooks in her body? Like, you know those little things owls sit in in cartoons? Like, does she have one of those? (laughing) She can just torch it. - That sounds like it would be really unhealthy, assuming she has like organs. - Right. Unless she has like a thigh muscle removed, like house, like there's just a fucking hole in her thigh or something like that.

She could just... - Just a hole in her shoulder if she can keep it. - I mean, animals could live in her little head bush or like on her cape. I mean, if they wanted to. It seems like a really unhealthy lifestyle for them. - They were on fire like six seconds ago. I don't think it's a good idea. - Okay, so what's your first stop? Where do you guys wanna go in town? Is it pretty much just heading to the inn and getting a couple of rooms and hunkering down? - Do we need to buy anything? - I don't think so. I mean, we could always do some healing potions and there's not gonna hurt to have that.

Yeah, no. I think we should go get a room and then maybe head over to the bar and- - Get drunk. - Get drunk. And then before we head out tomorrow, we can grab some healing potions along the way. - And some aspirin. - Sounds perfect. That is the itinerary. - All right, so we're gonna grab a room, make sure that we're all settled. - Do you know that after the first episode, we got an email, someone was afraid I was gonna become an alcoholic. - God. - Because I had a drink during an episode. (laughing) Okay. All righty. So, heading into Brecken's Hearth, there's gonna be an elderly man with this big thick blonde beard standing behind the counter.

And as you walk in, there's this little bell that chimes and it kinda makes this really pleasant, like just really tingly sound. Just it's kind of a high pitched bell. And as you walk in, there's this huge roaring fireplace. You'd say it takes up half of this wall. This fireplace is immense. You could put a body in this fireplace easy if you wanted to. - If you were smart. - That's exactly what we all first thought. That was our initial thought. We've been at Darmach's house too damn long. (laughing) - You just size every place up like that. Wow, you could really jam a body or two in there.

All right. That's how you judge storage space. (laughing) And there's these antique looking wooden rocking chairs in front of it. And there's blankets kind of laid out if you wanted to just kind of hang out in the lobby here. And the man behind the counter, man behind the counter, well, hello, just really warm and friendly. What can I do for you fine folks this evening? - No, no. So yeah, Merrick, this is exactly what Merrick needs right now. He needs a little spa vacation, like a spa-cation of some sort, a little stressful earlier today. So he's like, yeah, we need two rooms for the evening.

That's all. - Of course. Just the five of you? - Yep, that'll be it. Anybody want their own room? Does anybody need, how are we splitting this up? - Valis, Valis is gonna step forward. And he's gonna kind of pull you to the side, Merrick. And he's gonna kind of whisper, but it's just a slightly lower version of his regular voice. So it's fairly audible to anyone who's within earshot. You and that thing should sleep by yourselves. - Motherfucker. - Oh, that's mean. - Kaluna, I'm assuming she heard. Do I? - I would imagine, yeah. - She's going to lunch at Valis. - Okay.

- Um, can I stop this or should I let this happen? - Well, hold on. - Can't tell, both are beautiful. - I'll give you five gold on the tree. - Yeah. - Okay, well, let's do this. Are you trying to knock Valis down or just strike at him? - It's sort of like what the werewolves do, where they just sort of lunge at him. Just sort of full body going at him. - Okay, if we're gonna do this, Jodzia is gonna roll initiative two, just so you know. - Oh my God. - This is happening, it's happening. Hey, nice town filled with nice people. Let's fucking ruin everything. - Yay.

- Okay, hold on a second. Let's do this. Let's first have- - Two bloody people. - I want you to run. Let's, Jesus, everyone's rolling initiative. Okay, okay, that's a thing we could do as well. - I just wanted to see where I might be in the tracker. Mostly for defense. - Kaluna has an edge here. Definitely gonna win because she's so fast. - Okay, let's do this. Let's have Kaluna roll an attack against Valis here. So it'd be against his fortitude. So you're trying to knock him down. So what's your standard attack here? Your melee basic. - I never look at it. It is a D20 plus 10.

- Okay, so just roll that against Valis's fortitude. - Oh God. - That will just meet Valis's fortitude. That's a 25. Okay, so here's what we're gonna do. While Valis is kind of pulling Merrick to the side, Kaluna's gonna overhear this and she is going to chop block Valis. She is going to lunge forward and strike the back of Valis's knee. - Karate chop. - Valis is going to fall backwards and hit his head on this fireplace. So go ahead and roll, just go ahead and roll your melee basic attack damage against Valis. - Okay. - Oh, this is going to hurt him really, really bad.

Really, really bad guys. He's going to die. Five. - Okay. Five damage to Valis. Okay. So in the initiative tracker, okay. Okay, here's what we're gonna do. Valis as a reaction is going to stand up. Okay, you know what? We need a map, hold on. I didn't think we'd need a map, but we're gonna need a map. - I'm so glad this is happening guys. - I'm just gonna say I rolled a 28 and... - Yeah. - I know, I know, but this is, hold on. I know. Give me one moment. He's going to try and grab, oh Jesus, he's gonna try and grab at Kaluna. So what's Valis' strength? Hold on a second.

- I'm looking for any opportunity to get between the two of them. - Yeah, very, very. I'm gonna, right after this, I'm gonna ask. - Just wanted to make sure it was said out loud. - Okay, so this is going to... - We all want to stop this. It's the palace thing all over again, where it's like, I get between the two of them and he already stabbed her. - Yeah, it's... - And to Brute. - All right, I'm already bloodied too. - Yeah, me too. - I was gonna say like... - Don't hit me, don't. - No one hit Maric. - Okay, that is going to be higher than Kaluna's fortitude.

So Valis, okay, Valis is going to stand up and just kind of grab at Kaluna's neck region with his fucking... - Hands? - His, like his... - His big meaty claws? - Yes, but it's, yeah, just basically big meaty claw is what I'm looking for, so. (laughing) - Corrected me. - Valis is going to try and, you can see him physically try and drag Kaluna down into this fire. Like he is going to try and jam her into this fireplace if he can. - I'll hand the fire things back. (laughing) - Told you I'd bring it back. - Bringing it back. - Jadzia, let's, okay, we're in initiative now.

Jadzia, go ahead. - Okay, so is Kaluna in the fire yet or is he just trying to burn the fire? - No, no, no, no, no, no. You can just see, you can see where she is resisting and he's just trying to like, with two hands, he could probably easily put her in the fire. He's got her, he's trying to choke her, which isn't really working 'cause she's kind of a tree, but normally that would choke a person. - She's kind of a tree. - Kind of a tree. Like it's an affliction, it's like right now she's kind of a tree, so it doesn't, but yeah, he is trying to, like you can see, like he is just grimacing at her and just steering her into the fire.

- Okay. - She's fighting, but it's less, it's less like, it's less I want to get away from the fire and more I want to get at you. - Okay, so this is gonna sound mean, but I'm helping both of you out. Iron Spike of Dis. - Yay. - Oh God. - Fuck Kaluna, because then she'll be immobilized and you won't go into the fire. - Okay. - And you won't be able to attack my boyfriend anymore. - You say that. - Hit. - Oh no. - The damage is 3d8 plus, can I do half damage on purpose? - No. - I didn't really, 3d8 plus eight, you'll be fine, right? We're right here too, so we can heal you if we have to.

- Yeah, I'm ready. - Woo hoo. - 21 damage to Kaluna. - And she's immobilized. - So this black hellish spike is going to erupt from the floor and shoot right through Kaluna's thigh. - Good. - And Jett's eyes are gonna be black as she does this, like pretty pissed that this is happening. She tried to sit down with you guys like four times to discuss this and rocks kept being thrown through windows. (laughing) - Make it kneel but drawl, fuck. - It's going really well so far. - It's, this is good. Maric, your turn. - Okay, so I'm trying to think of how he's gonna react to this.

- Do you have anything that can move Valus back? - Yeah, that's true, I mean, what I think I wanna do though is not try to make this more of a fight. What I'm trying to do is get in between them and try to do some diplomacy between the two of them for a second, is that reasonable? I mean, I think that's what he would do. I don't think he's gonna try to-- - You could try diplomacy check, yeah. - All right, the way he's gonna, I don't know if this is, I don't know if this is intimidate, this is diplomatic, but he's just gonna scream enough and he's gonna get right up at Kaluna and he's gonna yell at Kaluna and then he's gonna look back at Valus.

- I would say that this is gonna take a negative two just because both of them are real, they really want this at this point. They really wanna hurt each other. So, all right, diplomacy. - This would be versus will. - 17. - That will not be Kaluna's will. They are going to continue to tussle here. - Can I just say that Kaluna is kind of stuck there. So if you told the Valus to back off, you wouldn't have much of a choice in the matter. I'm just saying. - It's fair, it's just not, he's not, the only way that I can push him back is to try to cause damage. And I don't, that's not what I want to happen here at all.

More Merrick. - Totally get it, I'm just saying. - I agree, I agree. - Just saying, you yelled at the wrong person. - Just out of curiosity, what's Valus's will? We can know he's a teammate. - 18. - God damn it. - Heroic effort? - You yelled at Kaluna, it's too late. - No, I yelled at her and I'm doing it to the two of them and I'm yelling at Kaluna first and then looking back at Valus. It's like a, it was trying to, it was a blanket diplomacy, but I don't need the heroic effort, whatever. We can, we can do it. - It's fine, I don't want it, I don't care. - I'm just saying.

- Okay, so this is continuing. Oh God, no, oh no. - This would be Valus's turn, okay. - Can we make it that like Judzia screams stop during her turn? - It's a little late for that. - So is diplomacy my only thing I can do or can I do another standard action? - That was your standard. - That was a standard, yeah. Anything else that, any minors or anything like that? - I'd grimace like strongly. - Okay, I'd send a strongly worded letter. - Maybe, maybe, maybe if you have a heal, maybe you could do that, maybe. - That's fair points, I could do a healing word. - It was just thought.

- No, all right, yeah, no, I should probably do some sort of healing word. I know Kaluna's not doing great and is Valus, Valus didn't take any damage, yeah, he did a little bit. - Yeah, you might wanna heal Valus. - Yeah, he might die. - Well, I don't, that's the thing, I'm not trying to get anybody to, I want everybody to know, everybody's cool, it's cool. Everybody's cool. - Everybody's cool, guys, nothing to see here. - All right, yeah, so I'm gonna do a healing word on Kaluna, let's see here. Yep, healing word, so she can do a healing surge plus one D six additional hit points.

- So you got a roll of D six, Jasper. - Yep, sorry. - Yep, sorry, I didn't know if that was clear who was supposed to roll a D six. - Four. - Four, so you get a healing surge plus four. - Whoa. - Boom, okay. Gripping Kaluna's neck region with one clawed hand, he is going to whip out a dagger with the other one, and he is going to start to stab at Kaluna's midsection and twist the knife. - I should probably be more upset about this, shouldn't I? - Right, that is gonna hit, the first one is gonna hit, he is gonna rear back and start to stab again. That is gonna hit, and he is gonna rear back and stab one more time, that is gonna hit, and he is going to twist this blade inside of Kaluna's body.

Oh, man. 13 damage, that will bloody Kaluna again. - That's not too bad, considering the kobolds did like 20. - Conceptually, this is bad. - Can I ask a question just for clarification? Did Jadzia hear what Valus said, or to Jadzia, did Kaluna just randomly attack? - You were close enough so that, Valus is not a great whisperer, so this is, yeah. That's good. Second knife plunge is gonna do 21 damage. - Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. - Okay then. - Yeah, that's the thing is he hit three, oh God. And the third one is going to do 10 damage. - Kidding. - That will knock Kaluna out.

- Well, you know, that diffused the situation, right? - There, yeah, we're done. She's not dead, not half, as long as Valus stops now. - Can I do an immediate interrupt? - Sure. - Okay, I'm gonna do-- - Now let's keep this going. - Well, that's a good point. - Okay, well, let me tell you, okay. Kaluna is going to go limp in Valus's hands. - Oh. - Her hand. - Actually, technically she's on a big spike. - Well, that's, well, her thigh is, so the rest of her is gonna stop struggling. And Valus is gonna kind of look down at the fire and then just kind of look back up at her and just-- - Oh, no, no, no.

- Just drop her. - Oh, good. - Not throw her in the fire, but just kind of drop her. So Kaluna's gonna kind of fall backwards a bit, but her one leg is gonna be elevated in the air because this iron spike is plunged through it. So unless you guys wanna attack Valus, this is gonna stop. - So he has stopped attacking Kaluna. - Yes, he has stopped. You can see he gave it thought. This was something, he's gonna kind of look back at Jadsey for just a second and then just kind of drop Kaluna. Just like, okay, burning her alive is probably gonna be seen as somewhat of an overreaction.

So I'm gonna just drop her and he's gonna put the knife away. - His knife's gonna be all sticky with sap. Ha ha, loser. - That's your final revenge. - You can't wash that stuff off either, you can't. - I think you decided on two rooms. (all laughing) - That solves that. Yeah, I'll just look back at break in and be like, two. - Okay, Valus is gonna look over to Merrick. Just kind of, he's gonna kind of pause to see if you do anything. Just like, okay, are we done with this or are you gonna attack me too? - To me, to Merrick. - Yeah, to Merrick. - Merrick, he's staring right at Valus and he's lifting his hands up.

Like, it's all good, it's okay. Like, this is too far, right? So total calm, total no problem, no problem. - And then she's gonna reach up and put her hand on Valus's shoulder and kind of like pull him back a little bit. Like, away from the body that's near the fire. Come on. - Can I do a hill check on Kaluna? - Absolutely. - Like immediately, just 26. - Okay. - Can Fi walk up to Valus and say something? - Absolutely, yeah. - Cool. - So he's gonna go up to Valus in a low voice, so only Valus and probably Jadzia 'cause she's next to him. Yeah, he's gonna say, "What the fuck was that?

"We come into a town, you know, "what looks like a fairly nice town "and this is the impression you wanna give? "And I mean, like, you're a tiefling, "you know, they don't exactly have a good rep "and you do this." - Jadzia's gonna cut you off and be like, "She attacked him first. "She may have been insulted, "but Kaluna was the first one to attack." - He's gonna put his hand up to Jadzia to kind of be like quiet for a second. And then he's gonna look back to Valus and say-- - We need to rule initiative again, son? We need to rule initiative. - Hold on, no, no, no.

And then he's gonna say, "You don't need to sleep in the same room as him, "but maybe you should sleep on your own "because you're a tiefling that attacks your own teammates." And then he's gonna kind of look at him as in like, "You see what you just done?" You know, it's like a, not that he-- - I'm gonna say the first punch. I'm confused as to why everyone's yelling at Valus. - No, no, okay. - I think he's too, but I'm going with it. - Okay, so like, the way that Fi sees it is that Valus insulted Maric, which is why Kaluna attacked him. So Fi is basically doing like reverse psychology on him in the way of it's like, "Well, this is basically what you said about Maric, "but this is about you.

"So be careful what you say "because the situation can be flipped." - Valus is gonna kind of step up to Fi and just kind of bend down ever so slightly. Firstly, I can care less what these people think of me. Secondly, all I did was suggest that those two sleep by themselves. He can barely keep ahold of himself whenever we get into a fight. At any minute, he could turn on each and every one of us. Have you ever seen what a werewolf does to a party? - I have not, but you're in this party and you're with these people. This is where you're traveling with. If you're not happy, you can always leave.

- Can Maric hear you? Is Maric aware of all this conversation? - This is kind of a, he said that he's whispering, so it's kind of a-- - All right. - You're not invited to our club. - That's cool. - I didn't attack anyone. And as long as, and he's gonna look over, he's gonna look over to Kaluna and point, as long as it stays away from me, then we won't have a problem. - Is Kaluna conscious yet? - Maric did say that he healed Kaluna, so yes. - But she didn't hear that. - She would see the point, but not necessarily hear the words. - She's, I'm assuming she's still maybe stuck on the spike.

I'm just gonna assume. - It's a saving roll thing and you never rolled a saving roll, so. - Yeah, so. - Yeah. - Yeah, sure, let's go with that. So she'll sort of tug at her leg a little bit, but she'll just snarl at Ballas, just pure, just, I wanna kill that thing, but I'm stuck. - If Jadzia chooses to, she can dispel the Iron Spank of Dis, by the way. - That thing that she just said though, makes me not want to. (laughing) - Actually, actually, actually, actually, can I roll? - Actually, no, she's gonna pretend to be really nice. - No, can I roll a Perception check to see if I heard him?

- You can, go ahead. - Yeah, perfect. Okay, that's all I wanted to do. She's going to do the same thing either way. - Okay, so Kaluna would definitely pick that up. - She has one more thing to say to Ballas. - Sure. - He's gonna look over at Kaluna and he's gonna look back at Ballas and say, "She attacked you because of what you said. If you choose your words more carefully, maybe she won't attack you." - If you wanna be diplomatic with that thing or her partner, be my guest. I don't care if they like me. I don't want them here. And I'm not afraid to tell them, either of them, that.

- Well, if you want to fight them, don't do it inside a town where we're supposed to be staying. - Everyone do me a favor, roll Perception check, please. - 32. - Why, are people nervous about us being here now? Is that a thing that might've happened? - I don't know why. - I got a 14, I'm pretty sure I still got it. - I got 13. - Glancing around this place, you're gonna notice that Clay Brecken, the Brecken, the guy who runs this place, has dove behind his counter in absolute fear, absolute terror of the situation. Not used to witnessing fights, sure as hell not used to witnessing fights inside of his establishment.

So he has, for all intents and purposes, disappeared from eyesight and yeah. - Are there any other people in this room or is this just sort of the lobby? - No, this is just the lobby, just you guys. - All right. - Can I roll to get off of the spike? Can I do that? - Should I? - Yeah, I'm gonna do that. - So go ahead and roll a saving throw, yeah. - Well, no. - So Kaluna's gonna struggle against this spike and it would be obvious to the rest of the team what's going on, but she's not gonna quite get herself. - Okay, Johnzia's gonna get close enough that Kaluna cannot reach her and she's gonna lean down 'cause I imagine she's on the ground.

- Probably. - I'll let you out when you calm down. - She's-- - Then she's gonna stand up and walk away. - She's just furious and so she doesn't particularly care that Jadzia's left, but she's going to look up at Valis and she's going to yell, "We are not an it. We are not a building. We are not a cart or a corpse. We are a living thing. We are not an it." And she's going to struggle against the spike again, just sort of very, very grumpy, sort of like a dog that you've held it down and it's just writhing around trying to get loose. - Did Jadzia walk out?

- Not out, just like she was down, like kneeling down, like you would talk to a child or a dog or all fours and then she stood up and walked back behind Valis. - Okay, can Fi look at Kaluna, say, "Calm down, be quiet," and then look at Valis and say, "Don't say anything." Do we, have we booked our rooms yet? (laughing) - I was going to ask the same thing, like we have the keys. - Is that Fi or Kat asking? - That is Kat. - Okay. - No, I really like the idea of you being like, "Stop, stop." Have you booked the rooms? (laughing) - Are our rooms ready? - Yeah, let me-- - Mints on the pillows, please, thank you.

- Yeah, or like, are there, like, the keys for our rooms, like visible? - I would imagine that's something he was getting ready when this all started, so they would be on the counter. - Let me, sorry, go ahead Kat. - I was going to say, can Fi grab one of the keys and give it to Jadzia and give the other one to Marek? And it's like, I think we should all go back to our, I think we should all go to our rooms now. - Jadzia will nod and look up at Valis to see if he'll actually come or, like, if they're done or if he wants to stay here. Can we go? - When Fi told him to be quiet, Valis is definitely just, just kind of like gruffly narrow his eyes, just kind of let loose that little growl he does when he's displeased with something.

And then if Jadzia starts to walk away, he's gonna follow her, but kind of reluctantly, just kind of give one last glance down at Kaluna and then just kind of follow Jadzia. - Right, I imagine when Jadzia, like when they leave the room, she'll deactivate the spike, but it's gonna be once they close the door. - As everybody's leaving and Marek's gonna be helping Kaluna up and he's sharing glances with Fi. This is, I mean, Marek does not, this is embarrassing as all get out, but he's just gonna yell. - You can't control them, right? - He's gonna yell. He's not yelling like angrily.

He's just gonna yell so that they can hear it 'cause he knows they're out of the room. To just meet me back here in an hour, everyone meet me in an hour. That's it. Actually, one more thing Marek will do. He's gonna go up and lean over to look at Mr. Breakin, Clay, and he's going to put enough gold on the counter to pay for two rooms twice. So he's doubling it. - Okay. - And he's gonna say, he's just gonna say in advance and twice the cost, very, very sorry. Many, many apologies and we'll contain ourselves and that's it and he's just gonna leave them be.

- He, okay, Clay is just kind of just trembling almost. He is so goddamn petrified of the situation. These are not a fighting people, you would take a guess. And he's just kind of like nod his head, but you're getting the impression that it's more because he's scared of you than he believes that you're sincere that it's like, oh, this won't happen again, don't worry. Like he's just, like he's just really, really scared. - Right, okay. - Is an hour enough for an extended rest, maybe? - Let's say that that's enough for you to get your healing surges and stuff back, like to get, but not necessarily dailies and stuff.

- Okay, 'cause I wanted to stop being in the aspect of the defender. - Oh, I'll let you change aspect, that's okay. - Yeah, I'd like to stop that now. - Just in case there's a round two. - Yeah, I'd rather not go into round two. - Let's not have that happen. It doesn't have to be first, but Judzian not listening to have a talk in their room for this hour. I think that might be obvious, but. - Merrick just wants everybody to cool their jets, just cool down. - If you guys wanna go first, you can say what you're doing for the hour, though. - Merrick's just, honestly, he's, after this very stressful day, and he's also still bloodied, he's going to meditate.

He's just gonna take some time to do some prayer, to meditate, whatever it takes. - It's Merrick time. - Yeah, a little personal Merrick time. - Kaluna's just going to brood. - Which, I don't know, that character, I'd like to see a brooding Kaluna now. I'd like to know what that looks like. Okay, so I guess we'll catch up with Judzi and Valis. - Okay, as soon as the door is closed, Judzi is gonna lean up against it and sigh, and she's gonna walk it from the inside. 'Cause sorry Kaluna, you're kinda fucking scary, and we don't know what's going on. Just to make sure that, you know, if anyone did wanna come in, they'd have to knock.

And then she's gonna turn around, and it's not quite a glare at Valis, but kind of just this, you know when your parents sit you down, and they say, "I'm not angry, but I'm disappointed"? - Yes. - It's that look. - Valis is gonna give it a second, waiting for you to speak, "What?" - She's gonna sigh, and then she's going to take his hand, and lead him to the bed, and she's gonna sit down. And it's kind of obvious, like, I want you to sit down too. 'Cause she doesn't want this to turn into a fight. - He is going to just kind of like, just gonna let loose a sigh and then sit down.

- She's gonna like stare at her hands for me, like she's trying to come up with the words before she says them. And then she's going to say, "I am frightened of the werewolf, "but he has done nothing on purpose. "And what you said, what you called Kaluna, "that wasn't right." She's right, she is a person. Maybe not a person, I don't know what she is, but haven't you been called an it? And then she's gonna like meet his eyes. - After, so, okay, after you say that, Valis is just gonna give like, you know when you're really standoffish with somebody, and they say something that makes a lot of sense, you're like, "Fuck, that makes a lot of sense.

"I don't want you to be right though." So, he's gonna kind of give that look like, "Okay, fair point, okay, fine. "I'll call her whatever you want me to call her. "But if she attacks me again, "she won't be any kind of living thing." - That was a good line. Jensie is going to nod, and she's going to stare at the floor and, I think you do owe her an apology. You clearly hurt her, and she's scared, and she doesn't know this place. I don't know where she's from, we haven't talked, but she's clearly not comfortable in our world, and this rivalry between the two of you is not going to go anywhere good.

- Fine. - So, she is going to smile at him, and take his hand, and say thank you. And then stand up, because when they're both sitting down, she's too short to give him a kiss, so she's going to have to stand up to give him a kiss. 'Cause his torso is just so much higher than hers. - So, he's gonna kind of lean into it a bit, and just like, but it's kind of like, just kind of like, yes, he wants the kiss, but he doesn't want to apologize. - It's like, ugh. - Then I think they should rest up. She'll see if he's wounded anywhere, though it seems like he didn't get very well wounded.

- He did a lot of the stabbing that time. - He did most of the stab. Twice in one day, by the way, he got all three stabs in. - Which is amazing. He got all of his stabs in. He did all the stabbing he's gonna do for the day. So, I'll tuck her out. - Time for nappykins, I'll tuck you in. - So, the party's gonna rest up for an hour here, and kind of, everyone kind of try to cool down, try to get their wits about him, get their shit together, as it were. And slowly but surely, the members of the group are going to meet back in the lobby of Brecken's Hearth.

- So, Kaluna's not gonna be spiky anymore. She's going to have a bunch of holes in her pants where the spikes used to be. - Plus one extra, I'm sorry, that's mean. - She's going to have, her eyes are gonna be sort of a soft pine green, and her skin is gonna be modeled different shades of brown and green, sort of like camouflage, but less shitty. You know, not on clothes. - Gotcha. - And she's going to sort of have less bounce in her step. - Valus is going to, very reluctantly, like you could just kind of like shoveling his feet, like, he is going to walk up to Kaluna, and kind of lean down a little bit, because he kind of towers over Kaluna.

So he's gonna lean down and kind of lower his voice a bit. And I would imagine Jadzia's somewhere nearby-ish, 'cause it's kind of like her presence is prodding him along to do this. - It's like when the mom brings her kids over to the neighbor's house after they broke a window, but then stands at the bottom of the stairs and waits. Arms crossed. - I've been informed that it may have been considered rude to stab you repeatedly. (laughing) - Kaluna's going to sort of, she's gonna look up at him, and she's gonna say, "We shouldn't have attacked you. "We were upset, but it was bad, "and we shouldn't have done that.

"We're sorry." And then she's going to sort of look down at her hands, and then look back and just sort of twiddle them. And she'll say, "We should probably thank you "for what you said. "It made us think." And then she's going to look up at Jadzia, and she's going to say, "You once asked us "how we wished to become a member of the family. "Be called." And she's very clearly struggling, because common is hard. It's weird. She'll say, "We would like to change our answer. "We would prefer that you address us as they." They're going to sort of look for Merrick, and then kind of sidle over closer to him, like, "Okay, I'm done, let's go." And Jadzia's going to bow her head a little bit, and kind of nod, and then she's going to go, "I'm sorry for attacking you as well.

"I did not hesitate, and I feel like you would not hesitate "if I attacked him." And then she's going to nod over to Merrick. You get it. Yep, we're sharing. It's like, "Yep, right there with you. "Some harm, no foul." Lots of harm. Clay is going to be eyeballing all of you, just waiting for this to go sour. But he's just staring in the background very much, not making a peep, almost not breathing, just like, "Please don't notice me, please don't notice me." - Go ahead. - Go ahead, sorry, go, go, go. - No, I just wondered if, this is cozy, right? There's a fireplace, there's rocking chairs.

We could all sort of fit here. - Kelowna would rather not get close to the fireplace. - Fair, fair. Merrick's just, he knows it's a lost cause, but he does want to make sure that Mr. Breakin feels not threatened. So he's going to walk back up to him real quick, very, very gently, he's not going to be threatening in any way, and just say, "We had some unfinished business to take care of. "We've been traveling a long time, "and it's been a bit stressful. "You don't have to worry about us. "In fact, we would love to take just a bit of respite "in front of your fireplace, "but we don't want you to be concerned, please." - Thales is gonna look over to Clay, and just kind of point at Merrick, what he said.

I was, and he's going to look over at Kelowna. I was angry with them. - Kelowna's gonna give a little wobbly smile, like, "Yay!" - Yay, fight! - I'm done. Yeah, just, and he's just kind of like, after he's done pointing, "I'm done now." And he's just, he's just like, he's just gonna look away. - I'm done now. - Clay is going to just, "Yeah, yeah, that's fine. "That's fine, as long as you guys are done, I'm fine." - Yeah, we're done, and thank you for your patience. If it's okay with you, we'd like to stay here. We don't want to make you feel uncomfortable, but is there any possibility that you have wine, or ale, or something like that?

We'd rather not go anywhere else. Let's just hunker down for tonight. Would he have anything to offer? - Yeah, actually, I could run across the street real quick. Nas is still up, I think, so yeah, hold on a second. I'll run across the street, and I'll get you folks set up. Just relax, just maybe take a deep breath and calm down, and try not to break anything while I'm gone. I'll be back. - Merrick's gonna look around at everybody else and just nod like, "Right, that okay, right, all right?" - Yeah, bro. (laughing) - Jed's the artist, he's already reading a book.

Everybody's back to normal. Merrick's the only one who's concerned anymore. Everybody else is done. He's like, "Wait, no, let's talk about this." - They're all quick to anger and quick to cool. It's just like, yeah, it's like brothers fighting. It's like, yeah, we put a hole in the wall, but we're done now. Now we're playing N64. - Why are you mad? - Yeah, I don't understand. - I was thinking of it like that too, where it's like, oh, oh, the little brother, you know, launched the big one, and then the big one was the one who got in trouble. That's how it works.

- Yes, it is. It is how it works. - Okay, so you guys are settling in for the night. I think it's time to catch up with Una. Brie has been dragging Una's body now for a while, and there is a trail where Una's plate armor has kind of scored the ground. - What about the blood that's pouring out of my body? - That also has left a bit of a trail. - Fucking bitch, dragging me. - Options are few here. She has, she eventually drug you back to where the horses were. Unfortunately, one can only guess that after the fight got started, these horses got spooked, and they are no longer where you left them.

Her plan originally was to drag Una's body back to the horses, and maybe she could heft you up onto one of them and get you out of here. That is no longer going to work. So failing that, she just wants to get you out of sight of this dragon at the very least. It's obviously way too much for a tiny little Brie to drag you back to Esterholt. That would take days, and that wouldn't work out. So she is going to take the path that leads down towards these caves, and every once in a while, she'll stop and check to see if Una's still breathing. And Una, every once in a while, kind of let out a cough or a sputter, and there'll be blood around Una's mouth.

After a while, Brie is just going to be exhausted. She won't be able to go any further. And she's going to kind of collapse and fall back. And she's about three quarters of the path down to this cave, but you're out of sight of Strahd at least, and that she's satisfied at least that you won't be attacked. You shouldn't be attacked by him. And she's going to kind of sit down on the ground here and kind of fold her legs underneath of her and position Una's head so that she's kind of resting against so that at least Una's head isn't like laying against the hard ground.

She's going to try and get the hair out of Una's face and just try and clean up her face a bit, just try and dab at the bits of dried blood and stuff around her mouth and just do whatever she can to help, but Brie is obviously not a healer. And that is, yeah, that's not really going to do anything for Una's condition. Una, do me a favor and roll a death saving throw. After a few minutes, Una is going to start coughing violently and then she's going to stop coughing. She's going to stop breathing altogether. Brie is going to, in disbelief, just start to shake Una.

And she is going to start to cry. Una, get up. Get up, come on. And then she's just going to kind of fold herself over and just kind of hug her. And she's going to start to kind of cry violently. She's got her arms wrapped around Una's upper body and just kind of gripping at her plate mail, just kind of squeezing it. The plate mail's actually, the sharper edges of it are actually digging into Brie's hand. She's just refusing to accept this as reality. She is going to eventually kind of stop that convulsive crying and she's going to compose herself just a bit and she's going to lay Una's head down on the ground and she's going to stand up and look towards Strahd and she is going to start to step forward, back up the path towards the city.

And as she does, her eyes are going to disappear behind a cloud of black and she's going to clench both of her fists and the ghostly white glow is going to return to them. And as she does, as she is walking up this trail, there's going to be the tiniest crack in the ground beneath her and that is going to continue the entire way back up, back up this path. She is walking back toward the tower with the dragon in it. Strahd is not paying any attention whatsoever to anything that would be happening in Odysseum. And Bree is going to very, very confidently walk up the stairs to this tower and when she reaches the top of it, she's gonna kind of look up and through the ceiling, obviously you can't tell that there's a dragon resting.

But she knows that he's there and she is going to just raise her hands above her head and she is going to begin charging. And underneath of her, the floor is going to start to kind of peel and separate and bits and pieces of this is going to start to break apart and kind of float just a few inches above the ground itself. And after seconds of this, she is going to let loose with a blast just completely vertical above her head and it is going to erupt through the ceiling and it is going to split apart the base right beneath Strahd and one of these really angular spires is going to get shoved into Strahd's side under his belly.

And he's going to let loose this roar, which is a combination of surprise and pain and he is going to take flight directly after that, just kind of roll off of this, he's going to roll off of this tower and then kind of catch himself in midair, spread his wings and start to glide. And he's going to glide away from this tower north. He's going to start to flap his wings and turn around. Effectively, there is no ceiling or roof or anything to this tower anymore and there are huge splits and cracks all through the upper portions of this where she has ripped the top of this tower apart with her force blast and she is going to turn and see out the window that Strahd is flying directly towards this tower and Strahd is going to open his mouth and his mouth is just going to be bathed in flame and he is going to get ready and fire a jet stream of fire at this tower.

And I think that's a pretty good time for us to stop for the day. - Jesus fucking shit. - Fuck you. - Damn. - Dude, if you kill Bree, I will actually quit. Like, I will actually quit. - Her next character is gonna make the most of the plan. (sighs) - Jesus. That was the coolest fucking shit though. Like at the end. - That's pretty fucking bad ass. - But Jason, did you really have to make your voice crack? Was that fucking necessary for my heart? Was that a thing you had to do? - I wanted it to mean something. - You're the worst. (laughs) - I'm sorry, Iz. - Did it chill?

- I know, we talked about it. - I think Izzy's the one who cares the least about this. - Well, it's not that, okay, think about it this way. - Not cares the least, but she's dealt with it already and the rest of us were kind of thinking she was gonna be fine. - I went through that grieving process a while back. - Yeah. - When I thought she was going to die. - Back when Bree was gonna kill you. - Yeah. - I grieved for her, I lost her and then I moved on and she's been alive ever since. - And she died fighting a tribe. - And you gotta say I'm gonna love all the people eating shit because they were like, "Oh, Nes just gonna come back to life." - Yeah, Izzy gets whatever she wants.

Yeah, so. - That's the only good thing to come from this. Those people can eat shit and die. 'Cause they will now, just 'cause I told them to. - I think that's how it works, that's the law. - Yeah, it's reaching to their butts, eat their own poop and then just die, just right over their computers. - Yep. - Well, she died fighting a dragon. - Conveniently, you guys are in the city where my re-roll is, so. - True. - Good, all right. - I can't wait until we get to sit around and drink wine. - Can we open on that? 'Cause Merrick wants to apologize for being a werewolf and I think he should, so.

(laughing) - It's true. - It's kinda rude. - We should write that down. - I love that we got the Una character art just in time for Una's death. - Yeah. - So we have to knock off another NPC to fit the new player character. - No, I wouldn't worry about it. Just give Drauk black hair. - Wait, is your character chubby? 'Cause then we're gonna have to talk. Everyone keeps mentioning that he's fatter than everyone thought. - Yeah. - First of all, he's not even fat, he's broad. - Yeah. - I can tell the difference. It's my expertise. - I think obviously 'cause I reckon people were thinking more like Conan the Barbarian type kind of build where he's actually a lot more stockier than I think most people were imagining.

- I think people have a preconception that you can't be heavier set and badass. That's the problem. So when you describe someone as badass, they automatically think like Schwarzenegger or like they automatically get that in their head and that dude can still plenty kick you in the chest. In fact, he has more heft behind it 'cause he's fucking huge. Like he's just big all over. - So he's finished movie, he's just gonna sit on you. - That's it. - Guys, people are gonna flip. - Yeah, man, I'm gonna get. - Or if we're gonna catch on fire. - Like that was a fun as fuck character.

Like I'm really sad she died, I actually am. But it's like, that was probably one of the best PC deaths. Like she wanted to die. I mean, it could have been a little less. - It wasn't like a Gavin as suicide either. It was like a-- - Yeah, no. - She knew that's how she was gonna go out and she had already decided. It was like a self-fulfilling prophecy of death. - Yeah. - Poor Brie, my baby. - At the moment, Brie doesn't care. Brie does not care whether she lives or dies. That is at the moment. For her to go back and actually just, it's like, fuck it, let's go.

Like that is-- - Dude, if you kill her, I'm gonna be so upset. - Birth, like. You did bloody him. He still hasn't had time to rest. - He just got a giant spire shoved into his body. How is he not super wounded? - He is super wounded. - Yeah. - But it's, I mean, she just has to touch her with that fire basically. And I mean, think about it, there's no one there to heal. Once she gets unconscious, she's effectively dead. That's it, there's nothing-- - Well, she's got saving throws, right? - Yeah. - I mean, we've got-- - We're skipping stats. - We've got some good luck on the saving throws department after that bullshit.

Like we're owed a couple. - I think Valus used up all of the parties luck stabbing Polina. - I'm just reading the scape check, what the fuck? What the fuck, what are you doing? - I thought it was great. - I thought that was a really cool scene. - That worked, though I am thinking of Willow. You have to, it's not even a thing. - No, I didn't think it's funny, the second Una's not in the party, there's a fist fight within the party. - Somebody's got to-- - She was our peacekeeper, didn't she now? - Withdrawal. - At the very least, the person's like, knock it the fuck off and everyone will be like, all right, fine, whatever.

- I was not tweeting, maybe I should have been, but then again, I'm dead. - No, I think it's better to-- Everyone, no, no, no. - BRB lol. - Can I please tweet that? - BRB JK lol. - Don't tweet anything, don't even say anything. This is like, we have so many people. I know how this goes, I know how this goes. - I almost tweeted something, but I was like, no. It wasn't even gonna be like, oh no, what happened? It was gonna be like, @unahalada, like good luck or something, but I was like, no, no, no. - Don't even, like, we have so many people who are just asking, just, they wanna know.

I started, I couldn't sleep last night, so I just started. - That's right, yeah, I saw that, which by the way, kept me from being able to sleep. - I'm sorry. - Fuck you. - It was a good move to open with the kobolds because - Yeah. - it kinda lightened it a little bit, it was smart. - A little bit. I figured it's gonna get-- - Like they weren't super easy but it was fun to kill them. - I mean, even if she lived, she'd still be, she'd still be bleeding out, like, I mean, she'd still be, like it'd still be a fucking problem that they'd have to solve, but yeah, it doesn't, yeah.

- The entire time I was just thinking of this post that I saw once upon a time, I have it saved somewhere where it's just like, how much body, how much blood can the human body lose and what happens whenever it loses that much? And it's, so I was just like, hmm. - Oh yes, is that the writing problems thing? - Yeah, it was one of those. - I love those. It's like, I swear I'm a writer and it's because you're looking up horrible ways to murder people. - Yep. - That's, that's crazy, it's weird though. Like I knew it was a possibility and it's just weird that, that Oona died, it's weird.

- Yeah, it is. - It's almost weird that she went out so easily. Like it's not easy because last episode happened and she didn't go out easy, but then it's weird that like, it was just too die roll. - She just slipped away. - Done. - She just, that was it. - Especially 'cause I have like seven things to keep me from dying. Like I'm like, yeah. Death saving throw, this, this, this and that. Oona doesn't have any of those things. So it just, it happened and that was the end. - Merrick's not even there to say words over her body, like cathedral. - Nothing. - Who knows when we're even gonna find out if Bree dies then we're just gonna have to find out from not seeing her where we were supposed to meet.

- Or from Cecil. - Or from Cecil who's looking for her, but he would give it to us a shitty way and then we'd kill him for. - That does not help the image of Theria. - True. - That's almost as bad as if Yemward would have died. I'm telling you for some people that is, like Oona is a divisive character, don't get me wrong, but there are a lot of Oona supporters out there and that they are going to be pissed. - Well, like, I mean, I made it pretty obvious, like we had a talk with Bree, you know, where she talked about she wants to die, like. - Yeah, dude, it makes sense, it adds up.

It was a satisfying, it's as satisfying a death you're ever gonna find. - Definitely. - It's totally, like Oona went out as a fucking hero. - It wasn't for no good reason Judge Zia came up and stabbed her in the back, like that was. - Yeah. - And since I'll explain in a journal later, I will stab Thoril in the back. - Yeah, and it, yeah, so it makes sense, it adds up, it's just, it's still sad, like it's just, that's a, yeah. But your last act on Theria was basically riding the face of a dragon, smashing it in the eye with your hammer. That's pretty fucking badass.

- I'm pretty happy with that, like. - Yeah. - It's not a bad way to go, like fighting a legendary dragon blinding it in one eye and screaming at it until it kills me, like that's pretty solid. If I'd just like been like killed by some random fucking orc, I'd be pissed. - Yeah. - Oh no, my buddy's gonna be so upset. She's gonna be mad at me. - Like what if Valus had died when he hit his head on the hearth? (laughing) Wait, Valus's lifeless body, what, no. - I would have thrown Kaluna into the fire myself, I'd be like, nope. - Yeah, that would have been a TPK and all just fighting each other.

- Just unacceptable.
