Again, going to be a short one. I'm Jason, I'm the Dungeon Master. Going around the table, starting with Jamie. Hi, I'm Jamie Richardson. I play Cory Forestkeeper. And Dagon. And well, James. James actually is the guy.
Yeah, sorry. I'm an asshole. Go ahead. No, I'm Dagon and I play James. No, this is James. I play Dagon. Arkanskate the Aladrin Scion. We're off to a good start. Okay. Let's pick up the next day in the little town of Fairbay. I would like the two of you to go ahead and roll an endurance check. You have both just woken up from from a day of pretty intense drinking. So I'd like to see what effects that have on both of you. Okay. Oh, that makes sense. Party, party. Okay. Dagon. Dagon's got a pretty decent size headache. And the sun. The sun appears to be entirely too bright.
Someone needs to turn the brightness down on the sun today. Cory, on the other hand, is in way worse shape. Cory is going to be very nauseous, very just just very queasy. She's also going to have a blinding headache. And everything in town seems to be entirely too loud. People's footsteps. Way too loud. Way too loud. So you got some sleep. You got a little rest. You had a little day of mourning the day previous. How would you guys like to proceed? How would you how would you like to move on? That's a great question. I assume we would meet in the lobby of whatever inn.
Yeah, I would imagine. Yeah, Breckin's Hearth. Okay. Cory is going to have her hand on her head looking horrible. And she's going to look at Dagon and say, what is this? This is why most of us swear off alcohol by the next morning. But it'll pass. Have some water. There's going to be a man behind the counter with this big, bushy, blonde beard. Kind of a kind of a kind of an older guy. And you recognize him from the day before when you checked in. His name's Clay Breggin. And as he as he kind of sees you gather into the into the lobby, he's going to give you a big boisterous morning, folks.
Just big kind of cut this just booming voice and he's just kind of waved to the two of you, just really happy to see you. Oh, fuck you, dude. I'll dig on a walk up and say, excuse my friend. We we had a long, rough evening. Tell me what what does your fine town have to offer a couple of adventures such as such as ourselves? Well, you folks looking to resupply or what do you what do you what's your business in Fairbay to begin with? Honestly, we we kind of just ended up here. We plan on heading west, but I suppose we're looking for help either volunteered or hired.
Well, to be honest, you're going to be kind of hard pressed to find anyone who lives here to be willing to go out and brave the rest of the world. But we do get passers through every couple of days. You might want to check over with Nas at the bar. We get people stopping in all the time. Otherwise, you could check back with me because if they're stopping by, they usually stay at the inn. Have you had any adventures pass through recently or are staying here currently? Well, we had someone a couple of days ago, but they left. It was just you two last night.
But again, it's it's really early. So we're we're pretty much due for a couple of people. I would imagine we usually average two or three every couple of days. I'll tell you what, if I get anybody, then I'll I'll send them your way. How's that sound? Corey's going to force a smile because she doesn't feel like smiling, but she's going to smile and and say much appreciated. Thank you. He's going to give you this big kind of booming smile back. Jason, is there a Therian equivalent to aspirin? There is a potion you could take for that. Yeah, there's there's.
Yeah, it's pretty common, too. So lots of establishments carry it. Nozle would probably have some at the bar. And if you just ask if you just tell people you have a headache, they'll they'll they'll give it to you. Like it's it's pretty much like asking, do you have an aspirin in there? Because alcoholism is a problem there. You're kidding. No, no. Why would people ever feel the need to drink in there? Did you ever notice the bars never close? Not one tiny town has a bar that closes ever. They're always open 24/7. Business is good in the bar industry. OK, Dagon I'll turn to Corey.
I before we do anything, I'd I'd really like to to start reading through this book if that's OK with you. And if your head's really bothering you, I'm sure you could find something at the tavern for that. Not alcohol, but something something to help. Yeah, that's that's fine with me. If you want to look into the book more. That seems like the wise choice, considering hopefully we'll be on our way soon. I guess I'll head to the tavern and try to find some sort of remedy for this headache. Is this going to affect anything if we were to get into a fight, Jason?
It may. I want to go find a remedy. This is great that we just always assume there's going to be a fight. We're in the one place where that maybe shouldn't happen, but it's hysteria. OK, so Dagon's going to stay behind and read and Corey's going to go to the tavern, correct? Yeah. OK, so let's follow Corey to the tavern real quick. So Corey's going over to the tipsy pig. So Naza is going to be again, this it's really early in morning. So this place is virtually empty, except for Naza. So Corey's going to walk in and the bells going to the little bell above the door is going to chime, which is probably not going to sound so little actually to Corey right now.
Naza's going to drop what she's doing and kind of run up to Corey and just kind of rock forward on on her heels. Just boundless cheeriness. Just hi. Just like boundless, boundless cheeriness. We must have tipped her well last night. No. Hello, it's nice to see you again. I was directed here and hope for a remedy of this headache. It doesn't seem to go away and sounds and she's just going to look at her awkwardly. Yeah. In the middle of your description, she's just going to nod her head like, yep, OK, no problem. And she is going to kind of jog back to the counter and you can see her kind of rummaging through some things.
And then she's going to produce this this this tiny little vial of blue liquid. And race right back over to Corey. And this time in a much, much more hushed tone. I think this will help you out. Thank you. She's going to start to reach in her pockets. How much? Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no. It's it's it's fine. I kind of expected you to be back. You guys drank a lot yesterday. I kind of get the feeling you don't drink very often. I have never, never drink before. It was a rare occasion that hopefully we will not see again. OK, because we've had pirates here before and they didn't drink as much as you did yesterday.
I'm going to take that as a compliment. And she's going to smile. Naza's just going to beam back at her. I was wondering if you knew of any adventures in town. We're hoping to go out on the road. But as you know, it's it's pretty dangerous out there. And with just two of us, we don't stand much of a chance. Oh, well, I don't know if she was an adventure, but yeah, we just had someone in here a little while ago. She she went over to Hunter's Alley. But yeah, you might want to try her. I don't know how long she's staying in town, but she might be able to help you out.
Perfect. Do you do you have a description or a name that I would be able to find or ask about? Oh, I didn't I didn't get her name, but she's the only other tiefling in town, so she'll stand out. She is going to say thank you and then drink the the remedy and say, I really appreciate it and smile and then leave. I was just going to kind of give a little wave and go back to what she was doing. Dagon. Do me a favor and roll a perception check for me, please. OK. 31. Shit. OK. So this is the first time Dagon's really inspected this book. This thing, upon first glance, it looked like something that perhaps the the researcher on a call maybe wrote himself.
Something that as they were discovering things about this gate, maybe they jotted it down after really looking at it, though. This book looks a bit older than that. It looks like they perhaps wrote things in it in addition. But this looks to be way older than than perhaps even the city of Onakol. And as as Dagon's kind of really checking this book out, he's going to notice that there's kind of a hollow point in the spine. And as as his fingers are kind of running up and down it, really exploring it, he's going to notice that a portion of this book kind of slides away.
Like a portion of the spine is meant to store. It's totally up to you if you want to actually kind of slide the spine open and check to see what might be in it. Yeah. See, I'm going to sort of look up and I guess who's around me right now? Are you reading in the lobby or in your room? I figured I was probably just in the lobby. Sort of like we were done with our rooms. Right. So it would just be clay then. OK. Because there's this huge fireplace, right? OK. It's it's it's big enough that you can toss whole bodies in it. Like it's a huge fireplace. Good to know.
You are not the first person to say that. So interesting. I will. Yeah. Sort of be looking at this spine on the book. I'll kind of look up, give like a little smile, sort of nothing going on here and sort of pull the book a little closer and figure out what's going on there. The spine kind of slides, slides away and you can see something highly polished. It looks silver. And if you were to remove it, which I'm guessing that's what you're doing. Yes. It appears to be it appears to be a band. It's it's it's incredibly flexible. Kind of this braided silver band.
And there's clasps on either end of it. And it looks it looks pretty much just large enough that it could be you could wear it around your wrist. Can I do want to do a check on it? Arcana. OK. Thirty six. Take on is going to pick up some pretty big mojo coming off this thing. Whatever this is for one, you're guessing it's it's definitely tied to these gates to this thing is all this shit. You're not you don't you don't know how many hundreds of years old, but it is hundreds of years old, at least. Which means this is a very powerful this is very powerful magic to still be intact and functioning.
This is awesome. I tell who made it or if it is run a perception, a perception, a perception, sex up this bracelet. What a perception check, please. Have I been drinking? Oh, I totally sexed it up. 33. So here's the thing. Dig on. Really inspecting this bracelet on the inside of it. There's a braided portion on the outside and then on the inside of it, the part that would actually be making contact with with your wrist if you were to wear it. There are several markings and they appear they appear to run the gamut between all the elven languages. It looks it looks like there is some Aladrin, some Elvish and some drow.
The thing is, though, you recognize you recognize the style of writing. You don't recognize any of the words. It appears to just be gibberish. Can I can I tell or can I sense if this thing is evil in any way? If I slap this thing on, is it going to eat my hand off? Well, OK. The one thing that you would know is that someone would go to a lot of trouble to both create this, whatever it is, and it's highly enchanted. Then hide it in a book and then have it tied to the gate near the gate just to saw off your hand. Hey, I have to be cautious here. OK, group two.
Fair enough. Can I do a history check? What I know. You sure can. OK. Twenty twenty. Daegon's going to guess that this predates anything that he's ever heard of. It's either that or this just isn't a very well-known artifact. You Daegon wouldn't know anything about this. OK. Before I decide to slap this on my wrist, I want to look in the book to see if it talks about it. OK, so OK, so do me a favor and OK, so Daegon's just going to sit and read this book for a while. OK, so that doesn't even really require a check unless you were trying to learn some sort of magic spell or something like that.
OK, so just reading this book, this goes into great detail about about about those gates. Now, Daegon would have some some knowledge of them already. Just just kind of just a very cursory, cursory knowledge of what they should do. And what Daegon would know is that they to to his knowledge, they're meant for instantaneous transportation. How exactly they work is is a bit of a mystery, but it's said that you can step through one of the gates and appear somewhere else in the world where another gate was was created. And you can step through and it's just instantaneous.
No time has passed. You are just in a different place in the world, which is insanely useful. Yes. So the book goes into goes into detail about a possible power source. And what it is is chapter after chapter of experiments trying to power this particular gate up in Inonokol. And these people tried everything. They've had powerful mages, which partially activated the gate. And then they go into several test runs where it looked as though the gate the gate should function. And then someone stepped through and it just stripped their skin away and the body fell out of the other side.
Horrible, horrible. And it's the way it's written in the book is very matter of fact. It's like, man, that's what happened. It's not like, oh, my God, we've made a terrible mistake. It's written. It's like, well, we've we've had several failed experiments. There was this one time Frank stepped through and it ripped his skin clean off. And that's that's all it that's all it says. Like it's very it's like that was a bust. Moving on. Maybe I'll keep that to myself. You don't see where it mentions the bracelet, though. It doesn't seem to be it either isn't connected to the book or someone was trying to hide it.
You're thinking, OK, I'm going to slap it on. OK, take on this going to wrap this this this silver bracelet around around his wrist. And the clasps almost seem to independently want to want to snapshot almost like they're magnetized, like they want they want to close. And this thing is going to snap and then you'll hear this little click and you're going to see you're going to see this this this this thing illuminate just for a moment and then stop. And then Degan's going to feel the sensation coming from the bracelet. But it's it's it kind of feels like a pull in his entire body.
And if if they were if they got where to stand up, it's it's facing him to the west. It feels like the bracelet is giving him a direction. It's not physically pulling him, but it is it's it's it's it's almost like an urge. Like it's like you should you should probably go west. There's a that you should you should check that out. Like it's it's it's it's it's it's like a it's like a compass pointing you in a direction, even if your eyes are closed, you just you could you could you could just walk and you feel where this is. This is fucking awesome. Dude, that's so cool.
I've been waiting so long for this. Oh, my God. We've got our own. OK. Did the did the innkeeper notice me putting this thing on? Not really. If he did, he's just thinking you're putting on your jewelry. No, I mean, like he's not you know, that's not that's not a crazy sight to see. OK. Well, is there anything else in this book that I could find to be to be useful? Is it is it telling me anything else? It is mostly page after page of experiments with this. They the closest they've ever had to a success is when they used a scion to try and power this gate. The problem was the scion was one of the slaves in the arena and she had been beaten pretty much to death by the time they got her in there and she died halfway through the process.
So that was kind of a bust. But they that chapter goes on and on about what could have happened. And they said that that was the the best source of power that they found. But finding another scion is really difficult. So I think they kind of wrote that off as a bust. Interesting. I need to go find Corey. Speaking of Corey, Corey, I would imagine is heading over to Hunter's Hunter's Alley. Yes. OK, so do I feel better? Oh, actually, yeah. Just seconds after taking that taking that little potion, it you could feel your headache dull. It's it's a lot better. The sun doesn't seem quite as bright.
Nothing outside seems quite as loud. It's it's you would imagine something like that. You could sell to people with hangover quite a hefty markup if you were so inclined, especially adventurers who can't afford to have their senses all fucked up when they're out in the field. So now that did you a solid. I need to do her a favor. I owe this woman a favor. OK, anyway, walking out of Hunter's Alley is it's a good idea. Is it's even woman so that would appear to be the one you're looking for, being as how NASA told you that there really aren't any other tieflings right now in Fair Bay.
What? Like, should I roll up perception? You can if you want to get a breakdown of what she looks like. Well, I was more like, what is she doing? Twenty one. Twenty one. Well, let's see, Susan. What's she doing? OK, so Hunter's Alley, I'm guessing that's like wares and stuff. Yeah, like a like a really common adventure shop, like really common stuff. Bows, arrows, stuff like that. Not a lot of enchanted gear. Not, you know. OK. OK, well, she probably looks disappointed because she doesn't use bows and arrows. So she she's probably just like if she has a bag, she's probably looking through it.
She hasn't noticed this that input. Go live yet or she hasn't shown any indication that she has. And she's just walking, looking like in her bag, not really looking up, kind of just walking down the street, looking at her stuff like hasn't noticed that there's a huge person in front of her. Is she alone? Yes, she's totally OK. So I guess, Corey, now that she's feeling better, she's going to get into the the fair bay spirit and walk up to her from behind and just tap her on the shoulder. She's going to react by jumping and then putting her hand on her rod and turning around.
Then when she noticed the seven foot eight Goliath, her eyes go wide and she takes a step back and she's like, yes. Corey's going to put her hands in the air. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to startle you. And she's going to have this like guilty grin because it was kind of funny. I I was told by by the barkeep, Naza, that you're new in town. She directed me towards you. We're looking for some companions just for a little while. I was wondering if maybe you had any interest at all. She's still a little hesitant because she's never seen a Goliath before. And I'm guessing you look a little haggard because you were drinking all night.
So she's looking you up and down and her hand is still on her rod. And she's like, well, depends on where you're going. I assume that Corey would notice this tiefling woman's demeanor and just sort of start to scratch her head like, oopsie. To be like, yeah, we're we're headed we're headed west. My companion and I and the roads can be trouble for only two people. So we're just looking for accompaniment to head west. We're looking for we're looking for some someone. I mean, it's people. So how do I explain the situation to a complete stranger? Have you ever seen an Aladdin?
No. Well, that's kind of the problem. My companion lost his family and friends and we're on a search to find them. When you start scratching your head, she loosens up because she could tell that you didn't mean any harm. And then when you get the softer tone about family, friends, her face visibly softens. And she's like, oh, well, depends on where you're going west. There's some places I really don't want to be. I believe our intention. We're planning on stopping in Esterholt. And from there, we're going to decide what our next steps are. But I know our final destination would be the city of Odysseus.
When you mention Esterholt, she's like, she visibly relaxes even further. And then when you mention Odysseus, her eyes light up and she's like, oh, why? What's an Odysseus? I mean, all the wharf words are gone. So why else would you have to go there? My companion seems to be the last of the Aladrin and he's lost so much. I can't I can't bear to think that he is alone. There has to be somebody out there and we need to find them. She, her face is she's still soft and she's like, I yeah, that that's good. I could see myself joining you. Corey's going to sort of shake her head and in realization.
I'm so sorry. This is extremely rude of me. And hold out her hand. Corey force keeper. She takes your hand and says, Erelove does not say last name. Good choice there. Probably smart. Good choice. Well, you mentioned an Aladrin. I didn't know there were any. Oh, my. I didn't know there were any left. I get a meet. I might presume. She's going to chuckle. Yeah, he is definitely one of a kind. Dagon's leaving Brekkonsarth and kind of after after he finds the thing with the bracelet and just is like, OK, I got some stuff to talk about. So it's pretty much just like grab the book, get ready and leave this place on his way out the door.
Actually, as he's opening the door, there is going to be there's going to be a woman standing right on the other side of it. It appears as though she was reaching for the handle just as Dagon kind of flicks the door open. I'll just say, excuse me, let me get the door for you. Thank you. Now, please get out of my way. He's just going to look at her like, OK, but he's clearly got other things on his mind right now. So he'll shrug it off. She'll step in and walk past him and go straight to, I guess, the man at the desk. OK, Clay again, big kind of beaming smile, just like, hi, how are you?
Hi, I am new in town. I am looking for a group of adventurers that might have passed through here. Kind of noticeable. May have been trying to keep quiet. Sound familiar? The people we've and he's going to kind of look past pastor. They're going to still be in the doorway, kind of just curious to see what her prerogative is. They're just kind of what's up with this. And he's just kind of like, yeah, that's that's that's one of the only two people we've had stay here in the last couple of days. The other ones, I guess I guess she's pretty noticeable. She's she's tall, pale looking.
She'll kind of look out of the corner, right. To see if Dagon has left yet and notice that he's not leaving and kind of put her head down for a second. Look up and say, OK, well, here's the thing. I need work. I need work. And I know there's not a lot of adventurers here, but there has to have been some adventures here recently. I do have I just need some work to work. Dagon, Dagon, I'll step back in and you'll just say who who exactly are you looking for? Hi. Hi. I was traveling and I heard there's there's not a lot of adventures around right now. And I think she'll kind of look at the floor, look at her feet for a second.
I need I need work. I need to wow. I I need to be able to be working with some people. I can't be by myself anymore. Lots of stuff out there happening. Don't want to be by myself. And I was hoping the adventures that were in the last town I was in had traveled this way since they were seen to be the only ones working right now. Yeah, that's right. And what was the last town you were in? I was in Brightport at one point, then traveled around. I don't know. I've been a lot of places. You seem very anxious. I haven't slept. Not a lot of sleep. When you're by yourself on the road, you don't really sleep.
You have to keep one eye open. Make sure you're not being followed. Make sure you're not going to get attacked. I really don't like traveling by myself. And she'll visibly start to relax a little bit, realizing that she's not in any danger right now. Yeah, I know quite a bit about the dangers, especially out east from here. I would assume it's me you're looking for and my friend. We were a bigger party, but we ran into some complications. So you guys were in Brightport recently? Yes, we've come from Brightport. I'm sorry, what was your name? My name's Layla.
How are you? Good. I can actually say Dagon. Hi Dagon, that's an unusual name. Are you OK, Dagon? You don't seem... I'm sorry. I don't hang out with people much. I'm sorry. I have been traveling alone for a long time and there's not a lot of traveling adventurers that go to Brightport and leave and survive much. I know this group was larger, the one that I was looking for. I was just trying to find people to travel the roads with. I didn't want to cause any trouble. I just needed protection. I can protect myself, but it's crazy out there. Can I roll a perception check on what I'm looking at?
Basically, a description? Sure. Go right ahead. OK. 31. Layla, why don't you go ahead and describe what you look like here? I am... Make it sexy. Let's... No. I am very tall, about 6'2". I'm young. I'm still obviously... I'm obviously young. I'm not an experienced traveler. I am pretty much clad from head to toe in dark armor, but I fumble a lot. She's very nice. She's friendly. She smiles a lot. Trips over her words. Might want to give her a race, too. I don't think that's come with you. I'm a human. OK. I got long, pretty dark hair. So, you're a mercenary? You're a gun for hire?
I mean, we're looking for people, but how did you know about this? I travel. I look for people. I do some bounty hunting every once in a while, just not... It was more or less to make sure I had a roof over my head every night. And recently that's run a little dry. Now I'm just, I guess for lack of a better word, looking for friends until I can pursue something different. How did you know about us? Well, when I went to Brightport, I was looking for a friend of mine and that didn't really pan out. So I went to the barkeep and asked if they had any idea of what I could do to help bring in some income as seeing as how I just don't walk into somewhere and they throw money at my feet.
And he said the only income in this town was to try to get in as hired help with a house. I don't really want to be in someone else's house, but they also told me that I could, you know, help with jobs around the city as opposed to being a hired gun. I'd just be like, "Hey, I'm going to come around and collect money for you and make money off of that kind of thing." It was more like odd jobs here and there. Or I could find some traveling adventures and you guys happen to be the only one apparently. All the other ones just don't make it. They leave the city and no one hears from them or they were never that important to begin with because no one talked about them.
So you tracked us from Brightport to here? They said you were heading this general direction. If I couldn't find you guys here, I was going to try to find at least another group. But you were by yourself? I didn't really have a direction I was going to begin with. Yeah, the last group I was with didn't really pan out. Okay. Clearly you have survival skills. We are looking for one or two, maybe more, to travel with us. If it's money you're looking for, that's not an issue. We're headed somewhere where I imagine there should still be plenty of gold to go around.
As long as we can trust you, I suppose that has yet to be determined. But benefit of the doubt. I'm not here to rough up anyone. Don't get me wrong, I like a good fight. But I'm not here to cause any trouble. That's fine. You should know that we tend to find trouble whether we want to or not. I like that. It's kind of our thing. It's kind of my thing. That sounds great. Good. When do we leave? I tell you what, come with me and we'll go find my friend Corey. We'll introduce you two and we'll go from there. Dagon will put his hand out to shake. She reaches forward and shakes at him very heartily and smiles and decides to start walking out the door ahead of him.
Not thinking that she doesn't know where she's going. So, I'm going to say Trixie. So, Layla and Dagon are going to march out into the street. And again, not a big town. So as soon as they leave, they're going to spot Corey and Airlove. So, it is not a lengthy search. This is not a town where you can really lose sight of someone too easily. So, I would imagine you guys would just kind of meet up in the center of town here? Sure. Yep, sounds good. It's obvious that both Dagon and Corey have a new person with them right off the bat. So, that's something new to talk about right there.
Corey is going to give a smile at Dagon as she notices that he was able to find someone and sort of give like a little head nod being like, "Hey, me too. Look at that right there." We'll walk up. Corey, I believe I've found someone to add to our little group. Please meet Layla. A big smile and grabs her hand and shakes vigorously. She smiles, trying not to shake her arm too hard. She doesn't want to hurt her. Layla has been following us or searching for us since Brightport. I think that says enough on how resourceful she should be. Corey has a surprised look on her face and then smiles at Layla.
That is an extensive journey to travel alone. I've been alone a lot. I just try not to stay that way. Then Corey is going to say, "This is our love. I met her in the Wares store." Naza directed me towards her saying that she might be interested in traveling and we talked a little bit and it seems that she was. Erolove gives a nod to both Dagon and Layla, not reaching out her hand. But she's also assessing Dagon because she's never seen an Aladdin before. Another tiefling. Will that be an issue? No. No, no, not at all. Are you a magic user? Yes, but my power comes from the gods.
I could take care of my own. I'll be able to watch your back. Excellent. As long as there's something to offer and you are on board, then I have no issue. Corey, I found something you might be interested in and he's going to hold out his wrist. I found this in the book. I guess first off, does everyone know where we're heading? I was told Odyssea? Exactly. I have no idea. I don't think I told you, Layla. I apologize. I'm searching for my family. I am an Aladdin, clearly, from Odyssea. We are heading back there to look for clues to restock, re-establish. And for now, that's our mission, to find the Aladdin.
This book, I believe, is going to help us immensely. What is in the book? This book talks of gates. I don't know if either of you have ever found a gate. Erya loves that eyes instantly light up, but she doesn't say anything. You guys might notice her eyes going white, though. Can I roll a perception check on that to see if I'm okay? If I weren't muted like a jackass, yeah, I'd say roll a perception check, everyone. Everyone? Yes, ma'am. 27. 32. Oh. Busted. 22. Both Dagon and Cori are going to notice Erylov's eyes kind of widen. Obviously something she, that's obviously recognition, like she knows something about.
Erylov, do you have something to say? I've encountered one of these gates before, if it's what I'm thinking of. I need more description, though. But if it is, I could take you to one. We found one in Onakol. Covered its symbols, large portal-looking thing. Round? Sounds. It was a Stargate, okay? It was. That's all I picture when I picture these things. I might need a little help here. That's kind of close. That Stargate's fairly close. Is there a picture in the book? There are sketches. Let me thumb through it. Just one second. One second. Right there. That's it. That's it there.
Is this what it was? She'll examine it and be like, "Yes, this is what I saw, but it's not in very friendly territory, and it's being guarded by some very important people." Where is it exactly? What area is it in? It was in the Evergreen. Cory is going to look back at Dagon and, like, carefully, because whatever, put her hand on his shoulder and say one thing at a time. Our focus should be on what we discussed. Okay. And Air Love will pipe up and be like, "I have no desire to go back there as well." Neither do I. No, I believe we are heading west. This wristband I found hidden in the book, I believe it's a compass of sorts.
And it is, for lack of a better word, pulling me to the west. And if I had to wager a guess, I'd say it would lead us to a gate. I also found some interesting writings in this book. And basically, I believe I can power one of these gates with my abilities. At this point, Air Love would probably, I hope, have noticed that he doesn't have any weapons on him. Right. Okay, so she's still assessing you and she's like, "powers." What would those be? I can trust you, right? [laughter] I'm not a thief. You're in a snitch, are you? If you're a cop, you gotta tell me. [laughter] Aw, I'm not a prostitute. [laughter] Um, I am a scion.
I guess she uses her eyes to talk a lot, her eyes go wide again. And she's like, "oh, hmm." And then she stops. She looks contemplative now. Did she know that Bree powered one? I think Poe told her that. Yeah, you would know of Bree, but those two never actually met. But yeah, Poe would have probably filled Air Love in with a bunch of stuff, both her and Mason. I've heard tales of scions being powerful enough to activate this gate. So you should theoretically be able to. What sort of tales are you talking about? You know of another scion? When I encountered the gate I spoke to you about, I was with someone.
And he told me that he knew a scion who activated the gate. They never used it, but he told me that she was able to power it. Interesting. I've not known of another scion since Olorin. I never encountered her personally, but I heard about her through someone I knew. Well, perhaps one day we'll meet her. But for now, are you all on board for joining us to pursue this? Like I told Leila before, if it's money you're looking for, there'll be plenty of that at the end of the road. Shouldn't we be talking about this kind of things inside, though? If we were smart people.
This sounds like pretty important stuff, guys. I think we should go inside and maybe someone can fill me in on what you guys are doing. If this is crazy or not. Okay, wait, wait, wait. Perception check. Surroundings. And what time of day is it, Jason? Is the town up? Oh, it's morning. Okay, so there aren't many people out in town yet, then. It's not, um... This isn't early to rise town. There aren't many people out in town yet. Oh, yeah, no. Okay, I just wanted to make sure we were on the same page here. We're gone in the third town. There aren't that many people on the street.
Most people have jobs. So this isn't early to rise town. So a couple of hours ago, basically at the crack of dawn, you would have people going out to fish, people going out to hunt. There are loggers, that type of thing. Very, very rustic, live off the land type of thing. So I would imagine that Dagon and Cory, while it is still early, they weren't really up at the crack of dawn in their shape. So this is more like 9, 10 AM, something like that. Are we perceptioning? Oh, Dagon, are we? You are perceptioning. We should probably just burn the town down now.
It's probably the safest thing we could do. That's the new thing. Like, anytime you go somewhere and it's nice, it drives you insane until something happens that's awful. It doesn't feel like home yet. So it's like, you know what, after a while, it's just let's burn it down to be safe. Because something's evil and I don't know what it is and it's driving me crazy. Here I am just worried about the two new people in our group and it's like, I didn't even think about other people looking. Yeah, the whole conversation, Leila was just looking around like, so is there anyone else out here?
Maybe hiding around a corner. As soon as Leila pointed it out, Airlove's like, oh shit, and starts looking around. Is that a gnome? Kill it? Kill it with fire. A nice tiefling from the bar killer. Let's see here. Dagon, Corey, and Airlove are going to notice a bit of a commotion down the street. It would appear as though someone had just stumbled back into town and there appear to be a few people just kind of dropping what they're doing and running over to this person as they kind of fall over to one knee. So it would appear as though that something maybe attacked this person or they're having some sort of medical issue, but yeah, it doesn't appear as though that's the norm.
These people are concerned. Leila takes off to go look at what's happening. Same with Corey. I should specify who I am. Dagon will shrug and he'll follow. Airlove will follow suit after Dagon goes. So this larger man, human, is kind of resting on one knee, but taking a look at him you can see that he has something kind of jammed into his back, right above his shoulder blade actually. And it appears to be a spear. It's not a huge spear. It looks to be on the smaller side. But the thing is lodged in his back above his shoulder blade and it looks as though the townsfolk are trying to steady him and remove it for him.
And they're telling him, there's an older man right behind him, just like, "Okay, just calm down and we're going to get this out of you. Someone hold him. He's going to flinch." Corey will hold him down. Okay, yeah, he is not going to move under Corey. And then with one swift jerking motion, this older man is going to rip the spear out of his back and the man on the ground is going to let this kind of horrifying shrill scream. And they're going to start immediately kind of applying pressure to the wound and just trying to take care of him. Just stop the bleeding right away.
And one of the ladies in the back are going to kind of holler for someone to get the medic. You're guessing they mean this quite literally, like "the medic." Like there is one cleric in this town that could deal with something like this. So how would you guys like to deal with this situation here? Let him die. No, just kidding. Done and done. Corey is holding him down so she can't really do anything at the moment. Naza is going to leave the tipsy pig and kind of saunt her up to the, just kind of jog up to the proceedings here. What's going on? We don't know.
Apparently this man has been stabbed with a spear. That's about as far as we know. Naza looks completely perplexed. Stabbed? By who? And she's going to kind of lean down to this guy. And just, "Roger? What did this to you? What happened?" And Roger's going to tell Naza all about his little hunting expedition. One of the hunters tasked with, they kind of hunt boar and such near high mantle forest. And he's going to tell her all about an early morning hunting expedition that went completely awry after his party was attacked by kobolds. Ooh. And Naza is going to come back and relay this all to you.
I, we don't usually have any problem with anything like that around here. I'm not really sure what's happening. What kind of shape is Roger in? Roger appears to just have the one stab wound. But for being such a big guy, this really took him down hard. This is, um, you're getting the sense that Roger doesn't get hit too often maybe. Or maybe he has a very low pain tolerance. Okay. I guess, uh, Dagon will kneel down and just ask, um, "Where are they?" Um, he's like whimpering kind of softly. I'm sorry, I'm sorry. The attack is just outside of high mantle. Like he's just kind of like doing that every once in a while.
And while it sucks he got stabbed and it's kind of serious. Um, it wasn't like he got shanked in a vital organ and he's bleeding out. It's, it's in theory this is almost a boo boo. Layla will lean forward and get close to his face and be like, "Does that really hurt that bad?" "That's worse than that. Come on now, get up." And then she'll roll her eyes and turn around and walk away a little bit. Like ten steps. Roger is going to give you kind of exact directions to where this kobold attack took place. I feel like Air Love would be begrudgingly, she would like take, like either she has a bandage or she rips off a part of her clothes.
Like she rolls her eyes as she does it and starts wrapping it up. Just kind of almost taking pity. Yeah, like once she starts whimpering she's like, "Oh god, I got to make that stop." Would that be a heel check or? Um, yeah, do me a favor, roll a heel check for me. Okay. Wow! That's not bad at all actually. It's not great either. It's not great, but for the big baby it'll be okay. So as Air Love's kind of like tending to his wounds, so it's just kind of like, you know, stopping the bleeding. Just kind of, you know, "Thank you." She'll sigh. You're welcome.
How would you guys like to deal with this situation? You can choose to just kind of skip on by it. You can... Fuck it man, let's just do our thing. What's it? Um, I want to ask him, um, okay, how many were there? Maybe like seven, maybe eight, I don't know. I heard something big though. I started running. That's when they stuck me with his feet. He's gonna break out into a full bore, just a full bore cry. Get a hold of yourself, Matt. People can see you. Um, Dagon will get Naza. This is a friend of yours. Um, yeah, that's Roger. He doesn't normally cry like that, but yeah.
Okay, well, you have been very, very nice to us. So we're gonna take care of this. Not for him, for you. She's gonna kind of reach out and try and shake Dagon's hand with like both of her, like just kind of reach like... Both of her hands are gonna wrap around yours. Thank you, thank you so much. We don't, we're not really equipped to deal with things like this. Um, we don't normally have any problems with kobolds or anything like that. I mean the occasional bear, but I mean beyond wildlife, we don't normally have a problem. I'm not really sure what's going on, but...
Dagon will look at Kori. She's gonna look down at Roger and then at her new companions. I guess it's time to test your battle skills. I can see Erlove just now finishing up wrapping it up and she'll pat him right where he was stabbed. Be like, "You should be all good now." *Squeals* I imagine this character is based on how Jason really is when he gets hurt. Like if he stubs his toe or something. That does sound like a practice voice. Sorry, I'm just writing something down for Kori later. Oh, okay. Hit me Jason, hit me! It's a super kobold and you're fucked.
A super kobold! It's a kobold and a mech. And a titan! And a warforged titan. This kobold was bitten by a genetically engineered spider. Making your way to the area that Roger told you about. Do you guys want to talk just a little bit before you get there or is it pretty much just let's go deal with this? Well, it's a bit of a hike. Okay, I was gonna say how far away was it? I suppose as we're walking through, since Kori didn't get a chance to talk to Layla, she would ask, "So where did you say you were from again?" I kinda didn't say, but I am from the fire isles.
You know, volcanoes, fire, rivers of lava, that kind of stuff. I've never heard of the fire isles before. It's far from here. I wouldn't advise you venturing there. It's not for the weak willed. Well, not saying you're weak willed, but it's a very troublesome place. And how did you end up from the fire isles into now Fair Bay? I'm looking for my brother. Long history there. No need to bore you with that now. Just I have to find him at some point. Well, we all seem to be on a quest looking for something. What are you looking for? I'm looking for answers of what my future in fate might be.
She's gonna have a look of final acceptance, of like, "Okay, I'm gonna finally do this." Because before, her lithoderm sort of like brought on this echo of shame from what had happened. But now she's finally accepting that she's gonna get answers soon. So she's got like this happy face on. Yay! Layla kind of looks at her and tilts her head to the side and reaches out to kind of pat her back, not really sure how to do so. She taps her lightly and says, "No one knows their fate. That's why it's called fate. It hasn't happened yet, and you're not gonna know about it till it happens.
So don't be too surprised if you don't find out anything right away." She kind of smiles, like trying to be sincere, and walks forward a little bit. Cora's just gonna chuckle and continue on. Okay. You guys are pretty much right around the point that Roger was telling you about. Do me a favor. Everyone, pop their characters in this general area. I guess, Dagon, I'll just say to everybody, I'm sure you all know, Kobolds are cowardly. Don't let them gang up on you and watch out for traps. I want to immediately do a nature check whenever Jason's ready. Okay.
Do me a favor, roll a nature check then, Cory. 25. Ooh, okay. Wow, you have a nature of 20. I forgot. Every once in a while I forget. So this is a pretty wide open area. Kobolds normally like to ambush choke points or heavily wooded areas, something like that. Something where they can really get the jump on you. It doesn't appear as though this is a place they would normally set up shop. Almost as if maybe they're expanding a little further from where they normally are. Or they maybe are trying to find a new home, something like that. But either way, it doesn't look like this, if this is where they're calling home, it hasn't been that way for long.
Finding a Kobold's camp is pretty obvious when you get there. A lot of makeshift weapons, a lot of digging utensils and tools. And they tend to, how can I put this mildly, you ever hear the expression, "Don't crap where you eat?" Kobolds don't have that expression. Yeah. They kind of just poop wherever. So in their own camp, they'll just kind of do that. Watching my feet! Do me a favor, everyone roll Perception. Corey is going to hear some rustling. And this is kind of coming from a few different directions. More importantly than the rustling, she's going to hear what sounds like a roar, but it's very kind of muffled, choked almost.
And it's coming from the north. The rustling is coming from the surrounding trees. So Corey is going to go ahead and guess that you are not alone. Would it be obvious that, because you said from multiple directions, does it sound like we're surrounded? It would sound like, from the surrounding trees, you aren't really what I would call "surrounded." This is more than probably seeing you coming and hiding. Okay, she is going to hold her hand up to get her companion's attention and whisper, "We're not alone." From the tree line here, a smaller spear is going to be whipped down at Layla.
So let's see if this hits. Ooh, that'll hit. I couldn't do a reflex or something to avoid it. Yes, again, this is more than trying to get the drop on you. This is just their little opening. Okay. I have a feat where we can't be surprised. Really? Yes. Okay, well then hold on a second. Alertness cannot be surprised, plus two to perception. Okay, plus two to perception. So wait, wait, wait. Just can't be surprised in general, or is that more just flavor text for the plus two to perception? Yes, it's a plus two to perception. Okay. Is that for the whole party? I have that too.
And I got the perception thing, so woo, we're good. Okay, so this is going to add a serious wrinkle to their plans. Because that's kind of what kobolds do. So that is a plus two to everyone's perception, or a plus two to Erlov's perception? I believe it's mine, but as soon as I know so, I would probably tell everybody. Okay, so going back, that would change Erlov's to a 23. So okay, that's still not quite... Alright, so you can't be surprised. So what's going to happen is you are going to see these... I'm going to start putting them on the board here. You are going to start to see these kobolds near these trees.
Kind of scamper out of them. So do me a favor and everyone roll initiative. How do you add two initiative rolls? Yeah. When you go to roll initiative, it has a little white box that says D20 plus whatever. You can change the whatever. Ahhh. Except for whenever somebody else rolls, it auto refills back. Does it? Alright, so we should just roll them with the regular dice roller I guess? You can do that and I'll just fix it. Okay, mine worked. Okay, so it does work. You couldn't get mine, so could you add plus four to mine? Oh, mine did, yeah. Sure. Edit one, two, three, four, five, fifteen.
Can I say it almost a crit? There you go! That is a rite of passage. I'm officially on the show. There you go. Yes! My god, Coris. Coris' initiative was good. Yeah. Alright. Cori, go ahead. Okay, I'm trying to zoom so I can see these ugly bastards a little better. Except for my computer's not working. I'm going to use burrowing shot, but I'm trying to get to see them. There we go. My range, I believe I have ten. So I'm going to use burrowing shot on number four actually. Okay. Because it affects enemies adjacent. Okay. Enemies adjacent to each other? Yes. Pretty much what happens is these beetles burst out of the enemy's skin and there are so many of them that they crawl and attack any adjacent enemies.
Oh, I love that. That is a hit! Okay, image. Thirty-five. Thirty-five damage. Oh, I forgot you're using ILU arena. Yeah! And each enemy adjacent to the target takes five damage. Anything else? That's going to be it for right now. Kobold Quickblade is going to run up to Cori and just kind of give this little "eh." Just little grimy little things. They're awful. And he's got this little rusty blade that he uses. And he's going to take a swing at Cori. That is going to hit. And he is going to plunge this blade into Cori's thigh and do nineteen damage. I don't want tetanus.
Dagon, your turn. Alright, Dagon's going to see this Kobold cut Cori and he is going to see red. So Dagon's going to move up to the Kobold, number two, and use Force Punch. That is going to miss. Dagon is going to swing his fist at this Kobold and this Kobold is going to deathly dodge it. That's disappointing. Anything else, sir? There are action points to pop. One. I'm going to save it. Kobold Quickblade number five is going to run up to Dagon and do the same thing his nimble little friend did. That is use his little blade, swing at Dagon, and that is going to hit nineteen damage.
Layla, your turn. Okay, um, she's not going to be happy with this and she's going to run over next to Cori and attack number two with a melee basic attack. That is a hit. And then I'm going to damage the crap out of them. Thirty-one. Shit. That will bloody the Kobold. Nice. Anything else? She'll start grinning from ear to ear while holding her maul. This hammer is going to slam into this little Kobold and it's going to knock him down to one knee real quick and he's just going to like, "Ugh!" And just kind of make a noise that is equal parts displeasure and pain and then kind of scramble back up to his feet.
Let's see, Kobold Quickblade. Let's have him scamper on up to Airlove. Running with his knife held out in front of him. Just no tactics whatsoever. Just like running. And the momentum is almost going to carry the blade at Airlove, but he is going to swing. That is a hit. Twenty damage to Airlove. Let's see, that will bring up number three. Number three is going to run around these rocks. Wait, I'm not used to my character. No problem. When an enemy within five squares of you hits me, the target takes radiant damage equal to my con modifier plus four and I push the target two squares.
Shit. Okay. It's an encounter. What's your con modifier? Plus four. Okay, so he takes eight damage. And you're pushing it back two squares, right? Yes. Okay, is it knock prone or just push back? Just push. Okay. Just push. Awesome. So that's like a, so this little blast of light after this kobold hits you is just going to like poom. And just kind of blast this little kobold back and he's going to look like ultra confused for a second. Like, okay, that shouldn't happen. Okay. Number three is going to move on up here and try and take a stab at Kori. That's going to hit.
Twenty-two damage to Kori and that is kind of bloody Kori. So these rusty little blades are really getting their hooks into you. Erolove, your turn. Okay. It doesn't do much damage but it pushes them all the way. So I'll do a thunder of judgment and I can attack one, two, or three creatures. So the one on Dagon, the one on Kori, the one on Layla. Okay. Two, three, and five? Yes. So I can click all of them, right? Yeah, just you go right down the list. Okay. Attack. Okay. I don't have any modifiers, I don't think. Okay. So we'll miss. Okay, that's going to miss number five.
That's going to miss number two. That will hit number three. So I'm going to get off Kori because I know she's ranged. Okay. Doesn't do that much, but it pushes them. Okay. Damage on this one. Will it? Put it. Nine. And it pushes them how many squares? Equal to my con modifier, so four. Jeez. Okay. What direction do you want to shove them in? Away. Got it. One, two, three. I would push them into the rocks. Oh yeah, rocks. Or that stump. Push them into the rocks there and that will give him five damage. Kind of forcefully shove them in. Always push them into things. Always.
Is there an opportunity attack there or no? No, because it's treating it kind of like a shift. Okay. Kobold quick blade number. Let's go up to Air Love here. Because Air Love is confusing the shit out of these kobolds. Because she's moving things without touching them. And they don't trust that. So let's try and stab Air Love. That will stab Air Love. Twenty-three damage to Air Love and that's going to Bloodier. Infernal Wrath. Okay. I don't have any modifiers, but it's 1d6 versus int. I'm trying to think. Isn't there something that goes with Infernal Wrath? I totally thought there was.
Ferocious Rebuke. When I use this, I can push the target one square. In addition to any damage I do. Okay. I like pushing people. You do? I don't have an attack for this. I don't see an attack dice. No, Infernal Wrath just does it. Okay. Plus intelligence modifier. So what's your intelligence? Zero. Oh, shit. Okay. So roll a 1d6 please. Okay. I don't have an attack, so I'll just do it manually. Just a flat, yeah. That's cool. Five. Nice. Five damage to this little Kobold. And push him away. Okay. So just one? Let me make sure. Yes. You are going to come in handy. I can feel it.
Cory, your turn. Alright. I'm hoping for Speedy. I'm going to use Tremor Shot, which basically breaks the ground underneath these Kobolds up. Okay. Is that a ranged attack? No, it is a standard. Oh, wait, wait, wait, wait. Is it a ranged? Because I have standard action melee and ranged ones. Oh, fuck it is. Alright. I guess I'm just going to use... Couldn't you shift back one? You could shift back one. I can? I thought you said that was disengaging. No, no, no. Anything more than a shift is. Okay. I am going to disengage and shift back one. And then I'm going to do that thing that I said I was going to do.
Mm-hmm. Da da da da da da da. One, two here. Can I get the plus one for being speedy even though I messed it up? You sure can. You sure can. You knew what you were going to do. That's a hit. Yeah, it is. It also does a secondary attack on each enemy in the burst other than the primary target. So it's going to hit five, two, but I'll do this one first. Okay. Twenty-eight. The ground is going to crack open and swallow this little Kobold up. And he is dead. Yes. It's like a mini-decimate. Which is funny because I'm larger than you are. For the secondary target, it says each enemy in the burst other than the primary target, second attack, wisdom versus fortitude.
Do I just roll the same attack die? Let's check this out really quickly. Because this is wisdom versus AC, the primary attack, but I didn't know if their fortitude was different than their AC number. Oh, yeah, it is. Just roll a manual attack. Okay. I'll tell you if it hits or not. Oh, actually, no. Their fortitude and AC are the same. So go ahead. Okay. That's a hit. Boom. So a hit. You slide the secondary target one square and it grants combat advantage until the end of my next turn. Okay. I can totally tell that your mic is facing a different direction than your screen.
Sorry. I'm having mic issues tonight. I don't know if he also takes damage or not. Let's see here. Tremor shock. Secondary attack. Hit. You slide the target. No. Okay. Alright. Because it gave me the option to do damage and I was like, that's weird. I didn't think that happened. So right there you want to slide? Yes. And it grants combat advantage. Okay. So he is all shaken up and really confused and just kind of, yeah. So Dagon, your turn. Alright. Let's see. Hit once already here. So I am going to, well, now that he's away from me, why don't we just pull out the big guns and not take any chances.
So I'm going to use Mental Drama on number 5. That is a range 20 and if I miss I get half damage. Target gains vulnerable 5 psychic save ends. Hit. Gorgeous. Attack. Let's see. Damage. 37. 37. Gorgeous. So that 5 psychic that's, um, starts on his next turn. Yeah. As of now, anyone who hits him with psychic damage, he takes an extra 5. Okay. Tell save ends. Anything else? I will shift one. On Dagon's next turn he's going to have to charge, of course. Okay. Cobalt number 5, the one that you just hit. Yeah, nuts to that. He is going to run at Dagon and try and plunge his little knife into Dagon's arm.
And he will. Ouch. 14 damage and that is going to bloody Dagon. Layla, your turn. Um, she's still pissed off so she is going to punch number 5 again. Hit. Yes. Gorgeous. Die. Nice. Layla's going to swing this big fucking sledge in an upward motion, effectively upper cutting this cobalt in the face with the hammer. And it's going to lift this cobalt off its feet and it is going to die on impact with the ground. Just no more. This cobalt is dead. She wets out a big squeal. Starts giggling. Did you want to move or anything? Um, yeah. I can move my whole move speed if I wanted to, right?
Sure can. Okay. She's going to move. Who should I go after? What are three? You're all bloody. Gosh people. And there's no healing. Okay, I'm going to run over here. Actually, wait can I change that? I'm going to run right here. Okay. Let's see. Number 1. Cobalt Quickly number 1 is going to run at Layla. And he is going to try and shank her. Oh, that's a crit. It's happening all over again. Wait, wait, wait. I have something. Hold on. Whenever a critical hit is scored against you, roll a 1d20 on a result of 16 to 20. The critical hit becomes a normal hit. Wow. Well go ahead.
Roll a 1d20. Okay. That's awesome. Shit. That is a regular hit then. So let's give you your health back. Dude, yeah, give it back. I'll turn with you. So that was 29 damage, but not 29 damage. Let's see what you roll now. 22 damage. That's a little better. That's a little better. Seven points I saved. That's cool. Geez. You know what? Cobalt number 3 is going to see where his... that Layla is partially surrounded, so he is going to close in and try to surround her a little more. Maybe they could take this big chick down here. Not that she's big, but she's doing big damage, so that's a problem.
That is a crit miss. Gonna miss Layla. Erolove, your turn. Okay. I guess I'll just do an at will. I don't want to use another encounter. I will move first, because I'm a ranged person and I don't want anybody coming up on me. So, let's see. Probably just one. And then I'll attack the bloodied one with Avenging Light. Okay. Plus one for being speedy. Sure. Oh my gosh. That's a crit miss. That's it. Okay. Let's see here. Cobalt Quickly number 4 is going to try and stab at Layla. That's gonna miss. Okay, wait. That's gonna wrap up round 2. From the north. Have I told you how much I hate you today?
If I thought you meant that for a second, Jamie, I'm gonna put it right now. You know I love you. I know. I love you too. From the north. Remember how I told you you heard this muffled roar? Yeah. Well, you're gonna hear a stomping now. And, let's see here, riding in on the back of this drake is gonna be another cobalt. Aww. I know. I know I have no healers, right? I know. We also have Second Wind. Let's not forget that we have Second Wind. Like, Dagon and I have a couple potions. It's fine, guys. We're all close quarters. I can hand Arla a potion for my miner. It's cool.
We got this. And I thought it was gonna be someone running in to help us. That was silly. That was so dumb. You silly. This... okay. This is how I'm gonna describe this. There is a cobalt that is colored just a little bit differently than the rest of these cobalt. Kind of a lighter, kind of a lime green. And he is going to come riding in on the back of this drake. And then once he kind of rides in, he is going to kind of leap off of it. There is something else. I want you to roll Perception, please. All of us? Yes, please. Laela is not perceptive. I see some eminals.
The most Laela is like, "You guys hear something?" And that's it. He's as perceptive as Trixie was. There you go. The rest of the party is going to hear this stomping and just kind of like look. First of all you see this large drake and it's kind of... the harness is kind of wrapped around its throat. And you can tell that they probably tamed this thing by beating the living shit out of it. And the cobalt that was riding on it kind of jumps off to the side. The cobalt is covered in rats. What? Covered in rats. Dead rats or alive rats? It looks like it's wearing some sort of rat skin jacket.
And then you notice these things start shifting and moving on him. That's the most disgusting thing I've ever heard in my life. Cobalt are kind of gross, guys. They're not. They're kind of gross. So let's go ahead and add these two things to the initiative tracker. Boom and boom and there. Okay. Kori, your turn. That kind of messed up my whole thing I was going to do. It's okay. I am going to pop Earthbound Gift first. I must be bloodied or weakened. You gain temporary hit points equal to twice my Wisdom modifier. So that's 12 temporary hit points. I'll add this for you.
Ballin, thank you sir. And I don't know guys should I turn around and go handle these people. I think that's a good plan. Can I use Shared Recovery when she does that? What's Shared Recovery do? She carries an ally within 5 squares of you or gains hit points or succeeds on a saving throw. Are they just temporary? They're temp so they don't count as hit points yet. Okay so I am going to move and I hope somebody comes and helps me. Because I don't want to be taking this all alone. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6. That way they're in range. And I'm going to use Squall Spirit.
I can pick one. It's a daily. Lightning, Primal Thunder. One creature, Wisdom versus Fortitude. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6. I can hit both of them. I am going to go after the Cobalt because I'm hoping that maybe I can nature this drake after. And attack. Here we go. Yes! Boom, that'll hit the Cobalt. Thank freaking Jesus. Thank freaking Jesus because the damage on this is ridiculous. Nice. Oh, 35. 35 damage is great. You have bloodied this Cobalt. Yes. So this is going to strike this Cobalt. You said it was Thunder? I believe it's actually Lightning. Lightning, shit. Okay so you are going to zap this Cobalt.
And these rats are all going to kind of fall off of him. It seems to be they are stunned for just a minute and then they are going to start swarming around this Cobalt. I was going to ask, do you think it's dumb guys if I try to nature this drake after we kill the Cobalt? Because I was going to use an action point and it attacks enemies adjacent. But I wasn't sure if you guys thought that was dumb. Like do you think that will work? Yeah, it looks like it beat that drake so it might side with someone who doesn't beat it. That's kind of what I thought too.
I'm still going to pop an action point. And I'm going to do Storm of Spirit Shards calling upon the spirits in the forest to attack this Cobalt for me. Okay. Can I get plus one for being speedy? You sure can. You know what you're doing. It's like the little... Did you add the plus one? Yeah I did. Miss I still get half damage though. Okay. How do I do half? In the box you'll see max in half. Just click the half and roll damage as normal. Twelve. Twelve damage. Okay. That's totally cool. Anything else? I used my miner. I popped an action point. I don't think I have anything else.
I moved. Okay. Okay, so this drake... This Cobalt is getting the shit pounded out of it. And he's going to... He is going to take this whip and just kind of like crack it. And this drake is going to come charging at Kori. So he's going to use something called Raking Charge. So going to charge at Kori and attack. That is... that's going to hit. Okay. I have a trigger, but go ahead. Twenty-three damage to Kori. Go ahead. Okay. You are damaged by an attack. I assume in the form of a cloud of flying sparrows until the start of my next turn and I can fly my speed without provoking opportunity attacks.
Nice. Kori is nature, everyone. It doesn't say anything about me not taking the damage though? I would say that would make you... It says I'm insubstantial. Insubstantial. Okay, that means you take half damage. Because it's like... you are still solid, but you're kind of broken apart. So he would only hit portions of you. Dagon, your turn. Can I move really quick too? I'll just do that without saying anything. Go ahead, Dagon. Oh, wait, wait, wait. Is that part of the trigger that you move now? I can move my speed, yes. Oh, go ahead. Yeah. You said it was till the start of your next turn or the end of your next turn?
Till the... wait, you assume the form of a cloud. Until the start of my next turn. Okay, well then yeah, the move would be right now. You're right. Go ahead. Awesome. Dagon, your turn. Well, I have to charge. I also have this amulet of false life. It's a daily minor action. Does that count towards charges and that sort of thing? It's not an attack. If you're charging, that's all you're doing on your turn. Unless you pop an action point. Okay, but let's say I charge it next turn. I want to use this daily minor action. Yes. That's a minor. That doesn't count as your standard, no.
Okay. That's all I wanted to know. I'll save that for next turn. Okay, so... Place roller, d20, 8. 8. So you're going to get 5 damage added onto the next attack that you use if it hits. The kobold rat master. Now, with a name like rat master, you would imagine that this guy has some control over rats. Kobolds aren't particularly big or intimidating, so the animals that they tame normally would be much smaller than them. Like, let's say, rats in this case. Let's see. Close burst 2. Okay, so that would... Okay, Kori just moved in range of this rat master's attack.
Now, she is insubstantial, so you're going to take half damage no matter what. But the rat master is going to kind of crack his whip and point, and all of these little rats are going to start scurrying and trying to jump up and grab the birds out of midair and try and gnaw at them. Because I'm in midair, do they take a negative? You're going to take... They're going to take a negative 2. Okay. To this attack. So let's see if this hits. Oh, damn. That's a pretty good roll. Shit! Okay. They're going to take half damage, so... Nine damage. Alright, I'll take that.
I was worried it was going to be like... No, no, no. They're rats. They're still rats. They could be mutant rats. We don't know. They could be dire rats. Layla, your turn. Alright, so as a miner, I am going to assume the battle wrath stance. Until the stance ends, you gain a +2 power bonus for the damage rolls of basic attacks using a weapon. Okay. So anytime you hit with something, you're going to add +2 to the damage. Yep. And I am going to attack number four. Hit. That'll hit. Gorgeous. So roll damage and add +2. Thirteen... Hold on here. Okay. Thirty-six. I think he's dead again.
Yes, Layla is going to bring her hammer down onto the head of this kobold. And as the hammer hits the ground, his head will be underneath of it, crushing it. She gills again. Anything else, ma'am? Umm... I saw something. Hold on. I have this thing that says... I lost it. It's a trigger? Does a trigger happen automatically? Like I have no choice? Or I can use it? You can choose to use it if it's a trigger. Okay, then I'll wait because I killed the enemy so it won't work. Cool. No problem. Okay, I'll wait. I'm good. Kobold quickblade number one is... he has combat advantage.
He's going to swing at Layla. Ooh, okay. That's a hit. And he's going to stab at Layla and do 23 damage. That will bloody Layla. Mm-hmm. Kobold number three is going to do the same thing. That's going to hit. Ouch. Twenty-five damage. That is going to reduce Layla to ten. Ouch! And then he'll return. You know what I just realized? You don't miss? Well, no. They don't seem to miss. But the way we arrange this, both healers are missing. Like, I know... like both healers. Like, the odds of that are tremendous. Go ahead. Okay. Should I go after the quickblades or should I go after the ratmaster?
Which one do you guys think? Um, quickblades. Because I'll go after the ratmaster. Okay. Um... my range... or my area of effect hits all creatures, so I shouldn't do that one. Um... I guess I just have to attack one. Because it would hit Layla and I don't want to hit her. Good plan. Um... I'll just do my at-will then. Sorry guys, I don't have much. With damage anyways. I can push things away and control it and... we need to loot this. Okay, attack. Oh, darn it! You had that birthed up. You do have an action point still, just so you know. This is true. You do have an action point.
Okay. Action point. So how do I do the action point? You're just telling me you're using it. I usually keep track of it. Don't really. Okay, I'm gonna use encounter. It dazes them, but I just went dead. Okay, I'm gonna do bolt of the raising sun on number one again. Okay, attack. This guy. Finally! There we go. Gosh. 13. Okay, 13. That'll bloody it. Back to the top of the order. Kori, your turn. You are no longer birds. I am no longer birds. So she's going to pretty much descend and these birds are going to complete her person. And the second she lands, she's gonna pop stones endurance.
Again, resist five to all damage until the end of my next turn. Basically for Goliath, that means that their lithoderms harden. Cool. And then she is going to do wildfire shot against the kobold rat king. Well, that's a Ninja Turtles character. That is a hit. And this is fire damage. Okay. 17. This shot is going to find its way to the rat king. Damn it, the rat masters chest. Just change it. He's right. Yeah. That is going to kill the rat. Yes. I don't know if this matters, but anything adjacent takes five ongoing fire damage. So I assume the rats are on fire. All the rats are dead, yes.
They just burst into flame. You hear "squee" and then die. And as a free action, she's going to turn around towards the drake and like put her hands in the air like, surrender dude. Drake. Your master is dead now. What are you going to do? Please don't kill me. This Drake is going to whip around. You want to hang out with us? Oh wow. Just don't do it then. Jesus. I just... Jesus. Okay, well wait a second. Corey... let's see. Corey disappeared behind... okay, so here's what we're going to do. Corey... so the drake would have run at Corey, bit down, or clawed at Corey.
Corey turns into birds and just kind of like flies around. So the drake, for all intents and purposes, is just going to keep going. So the drake is going to move to Errolove, open its big maw, and try and bite at her. Oh, that is going to hit. Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. Yes, immediate interrupt. My piecemeal chainmail, it gives me plus two to AC. And my AC is 24. That'll miss. Yay! See what happens when you guys read your sheets. Because you know thy character. You guys are reading your character sheets. Do you want to know what's good about that? That damage is potentially enough to outright kill Errolove.
Oh my god. I keep swearing today. I'm really sorry guys. I had drilled this. Yeah, we're a clean podcast. I'm sorry. How dare you curse. Jagon, your turn. Okay. What's my healing surge value? Where do I find that? Your healing surge is a quarter of your character's health, but it'll... let's see here. It is under the details tab, so your surge value is 14. Oh, there it is. I'm going to use this daily amulet of boss life. So use this power when you're ability to gain temporary hit points equal to your healing surge value. I just want to make sure... This isn't going to hit Errolove. 1, 2, 3...
Currently it will. I have to just adjust my movement there. Whatever could you be getting ready to do? 1, 2, 3... Okay, help me out here. There's somewhere I can get where I'm not going to hit Errolove, right? I have a speed of 6. 1, 2, 3, 4... Oh, thank you. We are going to use decimate on this drake with a plus 5 for my roll previously. To the damage. Yeah. Okay, come on. Hit. That is a hit. Damage roll. Plus 5. 64. Oh my god. Oh my god. That feels good. Action point. Do it again. Do it again. I don't think I can because I just used it daily. Oh, that will outright drain Dagon.
Yeah, that is... Plus I take a porter. Oh man, I might have just killed myself. Hold on a sec. Okay, so Dagon is going to raise his fist in the air and strike the ground. As soon as he does, the ground is going to violently crack and split beneath him. And the further it goes out, the worse this gets. This is going to temporarily immobilize the drake until the end of its next turn. And it is going to do 64 damage. That will bloody the drake and... Let's see, what is a quarter of 64? That would be... Jesus Christ, we're all sitting in front of big computers.
It's like 15. It's either before 15 or 16, so I would just say 15. I think it's 16. That's 36. No, that's 16. Oh yeah, 16. 32. Okay, I'm still good. We all should have been able to do that a lot quicker. Hush up. That's okay. You work in a bank, don't you? Yeah, I'm on the weekend here. Hush up. It's okay, I'm still at 23. Those temporary hit points helped. I have an excuse, I'm dumb as shit. Let's do this. Okay. Can't even find the calculator on my computer. Accessories. Layla, your turn. Alright, first and foremost, I have the amulet of false life. Is that what it says?
Amulet of false life? Do you guys all shop at the same store? Sweet. Use the power when you are bloodied to gain temporary hit points equal to your healing surge value, which is 20. That sounds vaguely familiar, so I'll just use the points. Yours works better than mine, though. She's got more. Alright, I am going to use, let's see. I'm going to use my melee basic attack on number one. Why do I have the hand and not the pointer? What's going on here? Attack that one. Hit. That'll hit. Boom. And then damage that one. Why? Attack. 34. Taking a big broad swing with this hammer.
You are going to snap the neck of this kobold and it is going to fall limp. Alright, and action point. Action point. That's three you've killed so far. Yep. Awesome. That'll hit three. She rolled a six and hit. Jesus. 22. 22 damage. You are going to slam your hammer into this kobold. Action point again. Lela has three action points. Did you know this? Oh, jeez. Okay. This kobold, number three, is going to try and stab Lela as a result. Boom. That'll hit. 15 damage to Lela. Errolove, your turn. You are currently next to a drake. Yeah, look at that. Make this one count.
Take a note. He's immobilized, right? So will I provoke opportunity attacks if I run away? Yeah. Okay, well then I'll use my mana action, divine protection until the end of the year next turn. I don't provoke any opportunity attacks. And then there's that. Yes. That's why I asked. Let me check that off. Okay, so I'm going to move away. That is a good plan. Okay. One, two, three. No. Three, four. Sorry. I didn't mean to make it like that. You juked him. Okay. We definitely support running in group two. I was getting behind the rocks. Okay. And then I'm going to attack number three.
I know I should be attacking drake, but I'm going to use avenging light, and if I do it next to a bloodied ally, it deals extra radiant damage equal to my constitution mod. Okay. You're not next to me, right? No, if the target is next to a bloodied ally. Oh, okay. Gotcha. Yeah. Can I get plus one for being speedy? You knew what you were going to do, so I'll say yeah. Awesome. That is a hit. Yeah. And then it does plus four, so I'm going to add that in because it's next to a bloodied ally. That will kill this kobold. Awesome. And then it'll flip around and raise an eyebrow and go, "Thank you." I'm kind of frustrated that she didn't get to kill it.
That was mine. Air love will nod. Corey, your turn. Okay. So, this drake is bloodied, so I don't really see a purpose in nature checking it now. Sorry. No, no, no, no, no. That's fine. No, that's totally fine. I was scared of it. That's all. I didn't want to have to fight it. I'm going to use Possessing Spirits, which pretty much lets me be able to take control of them for one turn. And I assume, since it's a pet, that his will has got to be pretty low. Yeah. Alrighty. 18. 18 damage. If I were to drink one of these potions, would it be a miner? That's a miner. Okay.
Can I do that? You sure can. Alright. And that's a healing surge plus something. I believe it's... hold on a sec. What kind of potion is it? I just have in my little journal entry thing that I own two potions. I have two healing potions. That's what it says. That is... I think it was the most basic of kinds. It's just a 1d10. Eight. And that healing surge value is something. Oh, it's not a healing surge. Oh, it just gets eight? I'll take it then. Yeah. Eight. That's my turn. Alright. This drake is immobilized. And can't really do anything, actually. And it's possessed, right?
Can't you make it go drown itself? I forgot that I was allowed to do that. I got caught up in my hit points. So yeah, I can make it attack itself. Make it drown itself in that lake. Well, it can't move. No, it can't move. It has to stay right there. Yeah, I guess you can make it bite itself if you want. I feel so bad. It did nothing wrong. You can still nature check it. The check is just going to be higher, by the way. Is it going to be lower now that I'm possessing it? Well, I mean, you can't make it nature check itself. But, I mean, it would be slightly more docile now that you're controlling it.
So yeah, it would be like a mid-range nature check now. But, okay, could we make this thing our pet? Or like, what's going to happen? Well, what you're attempting to do is try and, considering its will has kind of been broken, what you're trying to get it to do is stop attacking you. And you're essentially trying to make yourselves its new master. So, yes, if you hearken back to episode one, Thorold did something similar. I'm going to try it. Is there going to be a check periodically to keep this thing in line? Not really. Once it recognizes you, as long as you're not hitting the shit out of it, it's not going to really try to attack you.
The thing is, that would have been something you'd have to do on your turn. Anyone else can take a stab at it, though. Oh, well, I forgot to use my power for possessing spirits. What's your power? It says wisdom, modifier damage, and the target makes it. Would you like to go back and try it again? Like, would you like to take your turn over? Because I didn't tell you that you could do it. I'm just asking. Yeah, I kind of do. All right, so let's give the Drake back 18 health. If this doesn't hit, that's going to be fun. I'm going to be nervous. I'm still going to take my little potion thing, though, so I'm just going to leave that if that's okay.
Okay, that's fine. So, considering he is not under your sway, this is a nature check of 30. So I need a 10. All right, 50/50 chance, guys. Here we go. I'm not going to look. I'll know what it is by your reactions. Yeah! Oh! That made me feel good. James is, "Yeah!" Corey's going to kind of hold her hands outstretched and kind of slowly advance towards this Drake. Now, what do you say to it? Like, how are you convincing it that you don't mean it any harm? I don't think it would be able to understand me. Hey there, buddy. What do you speak? I speak Common and Dwarven.
Extra points if you would have said, "I speak for the trees!" Oh, damn it! In that voice. But I have had dealings with other dragons-ish creatures before, so... So, Dwarven's not going to help. This is body language. This is all body language. Okay, I guess I'm going to sort of approach it like someone would to a horse, almost. Where it's like you're making calming tones and it's like... Like trying to calm it down and slowly advancing. I know it sounds silly, but it really does work with horses. I'm going to slowly advance to it and, based on its reaction, should I roll Perception?
Because I'm going to try to touch it. It's going to kind of flinch just a bit because you've already kind of struck it. Hard. Yes, very hard. But I'm going to stroke it with a very loving, caring tone so that it's not as jumpy. So it's like the first initial touch, he would jump and then I'd be like, "No, it's okay, it's okay." I'll say it's a really good thing that Kori's the one who did this because Kori is kind of naturally soothing. And she is very in tune with nature. And the first touch, the strike's going to kind of flinch a bit. And then the second one, he's going to relax a bit.
He's not as tense. And then he's going to lean into it a little bit, almost like a cat. And the thing is going to eyeball Kori just a bit. And then it's just going to kind of hunker down a bit. Just kind of showing obedience, I guess is how you'd put it. But yeah, it is not going to attack you. I say we call him Mr. Whiskers. Oh yeah. I like it. I like it. I will say that this Drake is writable. Yes, even for a big person like myself. Oh, especially. It's almost like it was built for you. That little kobold was bouncing around on the back of it. Like it's, you could, right now, you could fit the party on it.
You could squeeze it on the back of this Drake. It would be a little uncomfortable, but you could definitely ride it. I have a feeling that it's not going to like me. Yeah. As Kori is continuing to sort of pet the strike and make it more comfortable, she's going to look over at Dagon and her companions and say, I think we found our way of travel to that place that we're going that I can't remember the name of to save the life of me. Esther. Esther Brooke. Esther Shire. I think we found our way of travel. To Esther place that you just fucking tell me. I don't know what it is about that name.
I can't. Were you hit in the head with a coconut or something? Like you have short term memory loss. Okay. Okay. Esther Holt. There's a map. I think I found our way of travel to Esther Holt. You just sounded frustrated. I'm sorry. I just feel so dumb. It's like. Oh, not at all. It's like aluminum. I had to teach myself how to say that word properly. Me too. In cinnamon. Do you want to try it one more time? Okay. We never do this. I know. This is like a one time. This is great. I love this, Jason. She's going to look towards her companions and say, I think I found our way of travel to Esther Holt.
And then continue to pet the Drake. Guys. Go ahead. Sorry. I just wanted to walk up to it and sort of gauge its response to me. To Dagon. At first it's going to start to tense up again. Kind of wondering, it's like, is this guy going to punch me in the head or some shit? But Corey does not react. So the Drake is going to kind of just loosen up after a second. And you don't appear to be walking towards it with any malice. You're not glowing anymore. So it's going to relax. But it's kind of eyeballing you a little bit. Just kind of waiting to see if this guy is cool.
You're cool. I'm cool. Excellent. Erlo is used to dealing with big scary red things. Like her brother Veles. So she'd probably walk up calmly and then try to assess its wounds because she knows it was hurt from before. Would you like to roll a healing check? That seems to be my thing. I think I would rather heal. I do. He's more in the damage dealing department. Wow. That is an amazing heal check. Erlo is going to be able to patch this Drake up. So the Drake would be able to spend a healing surge and it would be doing a lot better actually. Guys, I think that is a good time for us to stop for the evening.
That was awesome. So congratulations. You got a Drake. And you got two party members. Yeah. And survived the fight. And I didn't know. One more thing. One more thing before we go. In a clearing near the Silverglade, there is a patch of ground that someone did a lot of damage to. There is a large fissure actually opened in the earth where someone did some measure of damage. And it appears to have split this place open. It also would appear that someone had been camping there fairly recently. And from this fissure, a hand is going to reach up and start to claw its way.
Kind of claw for some anchor, some kind of hold. And this hand is covered in mangled armor. Almost as though, like a tin can, this, at least the hand, maybe the rest of it, has been crushed. And I think that's a good time for us to stop for the evening. Oh goodness. Oh, can't wait until next time. I can't either. That was a really great session. I'll make myself free next weekend. That was such a great session. I had so much fun. Once you start doing this, it's like nerves are just gone. Yeah, it's like riding a horse each and... what? What the fuck does that mean?
Sorry. That's not an expression. Because everyone knows how to ride a horse. Because it's fucking Tombstone, I guess. I don't know. I'm an idiot. What I mean to say, if I weren't such a stupid stammery shithead, is that it's like riding a bike. And each time you stand, you're going to be nervous. And then I get nervous. And then it just kind of goes away as soon as you start. And you just kind of slip back into character. And it's actually really just fun and easy once you get a hold for it. Cool. You did fantastically, by the way. Wow. Like seriously, wow. Absolutely.
You did really, really well. And I like the way Danielle's playing Layla. I do too. I like it. Don't take it the wrong way, but almost there's a touch of Rain Man. She's a stammering idiot, but then she comes in and kills everything? Yeah, you're adept in battle. Not necessarily Persephone. Definitely don't travel alone. She's trying not to give out... What? She's trying not to weed out any information. I can't wait to loot the shit out of these guys too. I know. We better have something. Do you want a dead rat? Yeah, I want a hundred of them. They've been on rats for days.
Is Rat King a notable kill? Can I put that in notable kills? That was not a notable kill. Why do these rats? First of all, I want to know how they were attached to them. Were they biting on him to stay attached? They're holding on. They're basically like he's wearing this little vest-like. And the rats are just kind of using their claws as an anchor onto the vest. Why would a rat choose that life? I love how we fought Kobolds and we still almost died. I know. All of us. I let myself get surrounded. But I was just like, "Oh, come on. This is crazy." It looked bad for a second.
That Drake... This is a good example of why you don't fight without a healer. without a healer.
