Please. - Let's do that thing where we go around the table and introduce ourselves. I'm Jason, I'm the Dungeon Master. Going around the table, start with Danielle. - Hi, I'm Danielle. I play Leila the, what am I again? (laughing) The human slayer. - There you go. Susan. - Hi, my name's Susan Spinader. I play Erolove Grimnest, the Tiefling Invoker. - James. - Hey, it's James. I play Dagon the Aladrin Sion. - Alex.

- Hey, I'm Alex. - Alex. - Hey, I'm Alex, and I play Brelin the Heflin Bard. - And Jamie. - Hi there, I'm Jamie Lee, and I play Kori Forestkeeper, the Goliath Seeker. - Pirate, Pirate Seeker. - Sorry. There's a different tone. Did you hear the different tone? Pirate. And Xavier. - Hi, I'm Xavier, and I play Actaronis, the Revenant Cleric Pirate. Pirate. - I forgot pirate, and I told myself for like a week I was gonna say it. - Everyone say pirate right now, everybody. - Pirate. - Yarr. - Oh, there we go. - Yarr. - That sounded authentic, I like it. - Snickers is our parrot.

- Snickers is our spirit animal. - Oh, don't even go there with the spirit animal again. - Would he sound like Gilbert Gottfried if he talked? - Ooh. That's a long boat ride. - How is she gonna flag with his like visage on it? Oh, that'd be amazing. Instead of a pirate ship flag. - It's actual visage? - Yes. (laughs) Oh no. - So last time on the show, you guys explored the ruins of Odysseia. You found out that the Warforged did indeed destroy all magical usefulness within the city. Any books that you could have studied, any tomes, anything. Scrolls gone, burnt.

So that was a setback. - Slightly. - Yeah. Fortunately, Dagon did uncover his old stash of cash in his parents' old house, and he divvied that up between everyone in the group. So the money's a good thing. You did skin a dragon, and you are going to take those drake scales, or the dragon scales, to a man named Artemis eventually. You have decided to get ready to set sail towards the Yengar Swamp first. Before we actually sail away from Odysseia, I wanna ask a couple of questions. One, how much of this dragon did you skin? Are you taking everything and just loading it up on the boat with you?

- I mean, wouldn't we take as much as we could carry? - What? - Technically, you could carry. - As much as we can. - Yeah, well, technically, you could just make multiple trips skin this dragon completely and take everything. - Yeah, because it did take two days. - Yeah. - Is that nice? - And will we know to take horns and teeth and stuff? - I rolled a 36 on that nature roll for the skinning the dragon. So whatever we could. - Okay, so you're gonna pretty much pick this dragon clean over the next, like I would say you take another two days. So you are four days total in Odysseia, taking that time to completely strip this dragon clean.

You now possess all of the scales from Strahd and you could make a lot of coin off of that and have some nifty armor to boot. So second question, what supplies are you taking with you on this boat beyond the dragon scales, the Drake and yourselves? - Like jackets. - Anti-kraken spray that I bought from-- - Was there any food left over? Like, did we even bother looking for food? - Well, there wouldn't be anything eatable in the city because the warforged don't eat and the Aladjord have been missing for many, many, many decades, so. - Hey, we need oranges, we don't want scurvy.

- How much food do we have left from Nessa? - Nessa, right? - Nessa? - Nessa. - Nessa. - I like Nessa better. - Nessa. (laughs) - Do we think it'd be a good idea for Corey to like hunt some wildlife or is that gonna take too much time? - That and like, if we're taking all that the dragon has, I assume the dragon meat is edible. - Oh yeah. - It is, I would cook it. - Kind of gamey. - Yeah, and I don't really feel comfortable feeding that to Snicks. - Mad cow disease. - I can hunt, I guess. That makes the most sense, right? - We can also fish food too. 'Cause this is a, there's basic equipment on the boat.

- Oh yeah, you can absolutely fish. - I guess none of us would have rations already or not too much with all that happened in the past week. - I would say you had basic rations. Nessa did pack you a little something that would last you a couple of days. - Okay. - I'm not usually a stickler for every time you go to a new town. I usually assume that every time you're in a new town, you get a couple of things and put it in your bag just in case you're stuck somewhere. We don't usually, the only reason is you may get stuck out at sea at some point, you never know, so.

- So all the stuff that we have right now, Jason, how many days worth of rations for all of us would you say there is? - I would say you have four solid days of rations. - Can we dry out some dragon meat? - You sure can. - Jerky. - Is there anything in the cargo hold that we would find? - Again, nothing I would eat. It's been decades. - Any spice? - Twinkies. - Twinkies? - The greatest civilization theory has ever known totally ate Twinkies, yes. - It's canon. - So, and how long would it take us to get to the Yungar Swamp? How many days? - This depends firstly on whether you have a nice peaceful voyage or not.

- It's gonna take-- - 'Cause that'll totally happen. - I don't like shadowing. - Don't be-- - Just don't camp. - Okay. - Don't camp. (laughing) - We made it from Farabay to Odysseah without a flight. We'll be fine. - Yeah. - And this time we have an RV, so I think we'll be okay. - So sailing from Odysseah, you're going to swing wide around Serpent Island, I imagine. Totally up to you though. - I thought we said to stay closer to the coast. - Well, I mean, not so close that you'll run aground. It's totally up to you. You don't wanna go way out to sea, but there is, you know.

You tell me where you're going and I'll tell you how long it takes to get there. - God. - If we stayed on the coast and went through, what's this bay called? Avakur? - Yeah. - Is that what that is? - Yep. - Just sort of follow the coast, or I guess we cut across that bay, maybe. - Yeah, that's sort of what I was thinking too. I don't really wanna go very far, but that personal preference, I don't really wanna go around Serpent Island. - Yeah, likewise. - 'Cause I feel like that's pretty out into the sea. - Yeah. - Yeah. - So maybe like around these two little islands and through that little hole.

- Okay. - Or what are you guys saying? - Yeah, that's what I'm saying. - That makes close sense, yeah. - Do we have a depth finder on here? - Depth finder. - Oh, I don't need to breathe, so I can just like tie me to a rope and I'll just walk. - Jeez. - Oh God. - You'll bounce off the bottom of the ocean. - Looks good guys. (mumbles) - Yeah. (laughs) - So you're going to sail around Odysse here, weave in between the islands, the Serpent Island there, and then skip across to Avakor and just make for, just make for Yemgar, right? - I believe so. - Okay. - What are the characters to know that we're going near Serpent Island?

Like? - I didn't know you were saying okay though. - Yeah, so can you roll like a check? - Oh, can we roll a check to see what the safest course would be? - Yes. - You sure can roll a nature check. - I love it when you say roll a nature check. - Who's rolling? - Well. - Ooh. - 39. - Almost a quick, yeah. - Good start. - The word safest is like saying the word evil. It's kind of relative. It's, oh, so, okay. Safest, meaning are you likely to make it to your destination alive? So the course you've plotted here gives you the best chance of doing that. If you were to sail out around Serpent Island, what you'll do is you'll avoid a lot of smaller islands and there's a lot less chance that your boat could run aground.

There's also slightly less chance that you'll run into pirates. Again, pirates aren't crazy common in this area, but they have been known to be traveling through. The problem is if you were to sail out into the ocean to avoid Serpent Island, then there are some mighty big crazy critters out there that you may draw some unwanted attention from. So this course right now at least would give you a chance to fight back realistically against someone if they were to try to attack you or just run. - Okay, so it's pirates versus Kraken. - I like the pirates better.

- I do too. - Yeah. - 'Cause then if we win, we can steal all their shit. - Hell yeah. - Okay, so loading up the boat, you have taken all of the dragon scales here. You have some, you've taken the time to dry out some of this dragon meat. Again, not the tastiest option. Dragons are big, tough creatures, but again, you won't starve and fishing is also an option. What I would like everyone to do right now is as you are sailing away from Odyssea and you turn to take one last look at this glorious city, I would like you all to roll a perception check, please.

(snorts) (laughs) - Oh, there it is. - 23. - 24. - I'm getting there, hold on. (laughs) There we go, 16, wow, I see nothing. - Almost a 12. (laughs) - Corey's gonna spot something. - Uh-oh. - As Corey kind of cranes her head up and you're looking at the massive cave you just sailed out of where there's this eladrin port on the inside, it's protected from the elements and you kind of sail out of it. Corey's gonna notice a couple of things. One, that the city looks even worse from this angle. - No. - The light kind of off to the side of it, not quite behind it, so it's really just shining down the city and you can tell that it once was a beautiful, gorgeous place that has just been destroyed.

And the second thing is, on the cliffs, slightly below where the city would start itself, it looks to be like maybe 15, 20 feet down, you're gonna notice a body that is partially draped over the cliff itself. The body doesn't look like it's been there for too terribly long. It's clad in armor and that is the best that Corey can make out from this vantage point. - Can we turn around and go check it out? Is that an option? Or are you just taunting us with this? - Oh, you guys can do whatever you like. - I guess you'd have to tell us that, wouldn't you? - I would.

I would point it out to the party. I mean, he's dead, right? We wouldn't really know who that guy is. - That's true. - No, but wouldn't it seem conspicuous to us that there's a body that's not as-- - Just right away off the cliff? - Yeah, and it's not as bad off as the city, so obviously it came in after or relatively recent. We might wanna find out what happened. I guess Laela would be confused as to why that would be there. - Well, we did just line up a bunch of paladins, so maybe we could safely assume that it's just one of the paladins. - That's pretty true.

- It's been a large battle just before we got there. - I still think we should check it out. - Team vote. - And Laela will voice this opinion. She'll look over and be like, "Hey guys, we really should look at that. We should really go back." - Well, it is a swift boat, so it wouldn't be a long detour. We're gonna have to dock again and somehow climb up or down this cliff. - Sounds safe. (all laughing) - Goliaths are known for climbing mountains, just saying. - I have powers that could push him down the cliff further. (all laughing) - Push him clean off. All right, taken care of.

Let's get back in the boat. - I guess I'll vote yes as well. I think I'll vote with Laela. We should go back. - Yeah. - Well, if he was with the other fallen paladins, it would be only fair for him to bringing with his comrades. - Yeah, to be lined up with the rest of them. - At the very least, yes. - How do you wanna do it? I think we run a risk of hitting the rocks with the ship if we try to get the ship close to it. - Well, what you could do is there is a small dinghy that you can kind of drop anchor in the bay here and just take the dinghy out and kind of climb back up to, not the wall, but you can take it to shore and then climb back up to the city itself and that would be the safest.

- So who's crazy enough to do it? - So you could fit three people in this dinghy. - So we're gonna need athletics, acrobatics type checks. - Okay, let's check. I have a plus 10 acrobatics, but I also have a bunch of feats for them. - Okay, I have zero for acrobatics. I have five for athletics. - I have a plus 12 acrobatics. - I'm in a ship. - I have a plus four in both. - Yeah, I don't feel so great these days. - You should have asked me like seven days ago. - Is there a fucking single grimness that is any good at athletics? Did any of them do a pushup in their entire life?

- Let me try it. - Oh, natural. - Athletics? - I guess Valis is pretty decent. - I'm sure he made a couple of pushups. - Yeah, I mean, he's pretty, like he's no good at acrobatics obviously, but athletics he's okay, it's just. - Hey, you've never tried to make Tessia do a pushup, so maybe she's the one. - Maybe. - She's ripped. - I have to check her stats. - Is it acrobatics or athletics that we're looking at? - Um, I can tell you when you get there. - Shit. - Uplinks are nimble, aren't they? - Yeah, but we don't grip rocks very well. - What if Cory threw you up there?

- She has already shown a propensity to pick you up. - That's correct. I can hang out on her back as she's climbing, but then that might be a bad idea too. I might weigh her down. - Okay, so if it's acrobatics, I have plus 10. If it's athletics, I have plus 13. - Oh, wow. - Good God. - So I will go, but I don't wanna go alone in case, you know, bad stuff. - If you feel that it's worth going, okay. - I could always do the push. I could push him off the cliff so you guys could catch him as he's falling. - That would work. I'll stay down here in case anyone falls and needs a little picker hopper.

- All the pieces of them that would do. (laughing) - I feel like the moment you hit the ground so you stay together. - I'm gonna say even if they hit the water, every bone in their body would be shattered. - And then I have that teleport thing, but I wouldn't be able to teleport again. So I'd just be up there. - All right, so who's going? - I'll go, I'll go. - Okay, we got Corey, Braylin and... - I gotta watch this shit. - Layla, you're the first one who volunteered to come back. (laughing) - She said you should check it out. - I will be more than happy to go, how do I do it?

- Okay. - All right, let's do this guys. - Corey, do you wanna like shout out to the body first? Like what's the reason for going up to the body? - Wayla is just flat out curious. - She's not easily scared, so she will just start walking like she's gonna try to get off the boat. - Okay. - Just walk off the boat? 'Cause that's... - She did walk from... - So she's gonna start walking to the edge like she's preparing to get off the boat even though she doesn't know how that's gonna happen yet. - Like all Forrest Gump. - Yeah, just jump off the boat. - Up in the water.

- Corey's legitimately going because the party wants to do this and she just wants to back him up. - Right, so I think that's where Fred is going to prove his worth I guess. - Friendship is magic. - I'll stop the ship just because you wanna check it out, but I'm not, the gun's not gonna go. - Fuck that city. - He's actually got his back turned to the city. Do whatever you want. - And I instruct the people that if it's a cord paladin to just line him up with the others in the same way they were placed and that should do it. - That's air-low sentiments as well.

- We're in plate. - In the dinghy, it's Corey, Braylin and Air Love. - Layla, right? - Oh yeah, Layla, sorry. I heard 16 athletics and I was like, oh. - Oh, that was Layla. - That is Layla, oh Jesus, okay. - I didn't roll athletics, do I need to roll athletics? - That's your modifier. - You have plus 16. - Oh really? Really cool, that's scary. - They'll come in handy. - Yeah. - I'm a big lumbering athletic person, yay. - So here's what's gonna happen. In the dinghy is Corey, Braylin and Layla. They're gonna roll back to shore and slowly make this trek back up into the city.

Now do me a favor, roll perception check as you peer over the cliff. I would imagine you're being very careful. - What does that mean, 16, what the hell? (laughing) - So Braylin is gonna be intensely distracted by the height of this. - You're so small. - Sounds about right. (laughing) - Oh wait, I think I'm gonna have-- - He's there for comedy relief, right? (laughing) - I thought I had like a feet or something that I can re-roll, I have one. - You might wanna save that. - Yeah, you're right. - In case you get dangled over this cliff in some fashion. - Correct, nevermind.

- So this body looks to be about 25 feet down. Layla is gonna see it kind of nestled against this tree that's jutting out against the side of this mountain here that's grown. It's almost cradling the upper portion of this body but if it were moved in just the right way, this thing could just go tumbling over the side and into the water and yeah. Corey is going to see that this is about 25 feet down that this paladin is, well it is a paladin, that's very clear, tiny bit on the portly side. He looks to be severely dehydrated and if he is alive, that he would need immediate attention.

And Corey is going to sort of bend down and really get a good look at this person. She could see that while his breathing is incredibly shallow, he is very much still alive as of right now. - Oh my God. - Layla will lightly tap her and say, told you we should have come back. - Corey is gonna look at both of them almost in awe and just sort of shout, he's alive, he's alive, we have to get down there. - So we need rope. - That would be standard adventure equipment. So you would all have 50 feet of rope. - Perfect. - Okay. You said it's only 25 feet down so.

- That's right. - Well, okay, so here's the hard part. Is there anything to anchor the rope to or? - There doesn't look to be anything near this cliff. This is, if there was anything there, it probably would have stopped him tumbling over the side. - Well, Braylon's your healer, right? So you could lower him down. - Oh boy. - And then Corey would. - Then how do we get this post back up? - Pulling. - So yeah, I think the best way to do it from what I can see is I go, I repel down and then we tie it to Craig after I heal him. And then I guess we try, you guys can try and pull him up since you're the strongest two between the three of us.

And then I'll be with him on the rope. If we tie it to him, I'll just hold on to something like part of the rope and him, kind of like a fail safe. - Wait, does the ship have harpoons? - I like where this is going. - Launch a harpoon into the rock right above and then they slide down the rope to the ship. No? - No, I love it. - Oh boy. - Of course if I harpoon somebody then. - That's the thing. - I do think you should go down, Braylin to try to do some healing magic, but I think we should try to pull Craig up alone first and then we can send the rope back down to get you because I don't want it to be too heavy to pull it up that we're unable to do so, you know.

- Yeah, that makes the most sense. - I had done this dance before. You take the idol, you leave me here and then you get killed by spiders and poison darts. Yeah, I mean, Braylin would agree to that, sounds good. - So you're gonna tie this, I'm imagining around his waist. - Okay, really quick before we do this. What type of check is this gonna be to like lower him down and lift him up? - This is gonna be a series of checks for the whole, the three of you there. - Is this like a Duncan on the bridge scenario? - Oh man. - This will be a skill check challenge.

- It's only 25 feet though, so if he falls 25 feet, that's not. - Well, yes, if he lands in the exact same spot that Craig is, if he doesn't, then he's tumbling over the side of the cliff. - Oh God, oh God. - Remember me for who I was, not who or what I will become. - What did we say in the last episode, Alex? You make it about two episodes, that's the mean and then we see. - Take the red shirt off. - Take the red shirt off. - I need to embrace my destiny, that's what happens. That's what goes down. - Maybe you should do a harness like through, around the legs and around his torso.

- Yeah. - Yeah, we got a lot of slack, it's like 50 feet of rope. - Exactly. - Can Drake's climb? Can we send him up there? - Not well, no. - You'd have to swim too. - I like the harness idea. - Yeah, me too. - Let's do the harness idea. - Well, do me a favor, Corey. - Yeah. - Let's roll a check to see how well you tie a harness around Braylon. - Come on Corey. - Let's roll, let's roll an athletics check. - Athletics, okay. 33, that's a crit. - Braylon's gonna talk even higher. This is the best harness that any of you have ever seen. - I really didn't wanna be responsible for if you die, Braylon.

- And you just drop him, whoops. - But he stayed in that harness. Can't fault the harness. Yeah, so this harness is going to be wrapped around Braylon's shoulders and upper body, looped around, around his waist. He is secure and to the back of this harness is going to be tied the rest of the rope and Layla and Corey are going to be lowering Braylon down slowly. So here's what's gonna happen. Braylon. - Yeah. - Get ready and climb over the side of this cliff and do me a favor and roll an athletics check. - Athletics. - To see how gracefully you kind of slip over the side.

- Is the other end of this rope tied to anybody? - It's just being held right now, unless they say that it's gonna be tied to. - Duncan fell, tie it. - Tie it, we're tying it, we're tying it. - Okay. - 'Cause he's not pulling it down if he falls. - Okay, here I go. - Yeah, he's really tiny. - Just weight wise. - Oh no, so bad. - Okay, Braylon is going to start to slip over the side here and he's gonna lose his handhold and he's gonna fall backwards. And this rope is going to snap taunt and it's going to, while Layla and Corey are both holding onto it, do me a favor both, who's making the primary check here and who's assisting?

Whoever's assisting is gonna get a plus two because you're trained in athletics, by the way. - So should I? - If it's an athletics check, you should do it and then I'll just roll to assist. - Okay. - Yeah, this is an athletics check. So go ahead. - Yeah, 'cause you have plus 16. - Corey, go ahead and roll to assist. - Roll for assist. Is it just flat D20 plus two? - Yep. - Okay. 17. - You are assisting. So Layla, go ahead and roll an athletics check. - I'm a secret one. - What now? Does he hate me? - So, okay. Corey and Layla are not ready for this. They figure he's going to be slipping over the side gracefully.

Braylin immediately tumbles off the side of this cliff like a little turkey. (laughing) And Layla and Corey are sort of getting there, getting ready and getting the rope and it's gonna jerk them both forward. Neither one of them are ready for this and they're gonna start to slide towards the edge of this cliff. So they are gonna get their stuff together about five feet away from this cliff. That also means that Braylin is gonna drop about 10 feet, swing wide and then swing back towards the cliff and slam into the side of it. - Ouch. - Ouch. - Sorry. - That is gonna be 10 damage to Braylin.

- Oh God. - Layla's just screaming sorry profusely like over and over and over as loud as possible. - Can I see this happening? - I would imagine everyone in the ship is paying very close attention to what's happening. - Yee-lee. - Before you start going back down, can Layla and I try to take a few steps back? - You sure can. - Okay. - Would there be a check for that or? - Yeah, there sure is. - Go ahead, what is it? - Roll an athletics check for me. - Didn't work so well the first time. - Well this is gonna be a slightly lower check because. - 32. - Yeah. - Like crazy.

- Okay. - 31. - Okay, so you're gonna dig in and start to pull, you're gonna start to get your footing and you set your, so I'm guessing you're gonna back up like another five feet or so? - Yeah. - Okay, so you're about 10 feet away from the cliff side here and I'm imagining you're gonna start lowering Braylon down? - Mm-hmm. - Okay. So slowly letting loose slack. Do me a favor, Layla go ahead and roll an athletics check for me to see how smoothly you lower him down. - 20. - Corey, see if you assist. - Do I still do the plus two, yeah. - Yep, every time. - 20.

- Oh wow, okay, awesome. You're gonna lower Braylon down pretty smoothly. He is going to land almost in the exact same spot as Craig. He's gonna kind of space his feet out so he's not standing on the body of course. Now that you're down there Braylon, what do you wanna do? - I would like to make sure this guy's actually alive. Well, besides the shallow breaths that she saw, I wanna make sure, I wanna see how bad he is first, like check on him. - Do me a favor, roll a perception check. - Okay, so obviously I was the worst person to send on this mission. (laughing) There it is, crit one.

- This guy's dead guys. - This guy's dead. (laughing) - To Braylon, this guy looks dead. He's gonna take Corey's word for it I guess, but she said that she saw him breathe. He's not seeing much of anything in the way of signs of life. He just, he looks severely dehydrated, dried out in the sun, like he looks bad. He looks to have a severe sunburn, just roasting on the side of this cliff for days. So yeah, he does not look good at all. Just covered in blood, specifically around his mouth. So yeah, he looks to be in really, really bad shape if he is alive.

- Okay, now we're going to move around the loot and give him a majestic word. - Alrighty, so that is gonna take care of a lot of cursory damage. He is still obviously still dehydrated, still you know, so that would mean broken bones and yeah, so he does appear to be breathing. - Okay. - That's a bit more steady, but yeah, he's still in really rough shape. Still unconscious. - Do I have like a canteen with water or something? - I would imagine, yeah. - Alright, I'm gonna try and give him a little bit of some agua here. So do me a favor. Now you know what, that's just mean.

I'm not gonna do that. (laughing) - When's that ever stopped you? (laughing) - Thank you for your mercy, Jason. Thank you for the mercy. - Okay, so when's that ever stopped you? - Craig, it's just on bear. - So how are you going to, are you gonna untie this harness and tie it to Craig? - Just slide it off and slide it on him. 'Cause it's perfectly made right now. - Don't fuck that up. (laughing) - It's perfectly made for a child. - That's true actually. - Braylin, did we lose him? - Sorry, sorry, no, I was muted, sorry. I said I would squeeze out of the harness, try and slide out of it as best I could.

- Okay. - And since you said he was kind of portly, so obviously it might not fit his waist, but I'm gonna try and do that. See if it fits. You can kind of squeeze it around him really awkwardly. He's kind of hanging out of it a bit. It's not nearly as secure as when you're wearing it. The guy's in big plate armor. He's a larger heavy set dude to begin with, a little older. He is completely ragdoll while you do this. He is completely unconscious, dead weight. So do me a favor and roll an athletics check to see how well you do this. - Is he gonna be bad? - Oh, God.

- That's good. - So Braylin keeping his balance while maneuvering around this body on this very small platform of rock, he could have easily tumbled straight over the side and lost his balance just then. But thankfully he had the wherewithal to place his feet in just the right spots and he has maneuvered around this body and gotten this rope harness around him as best he can. - What would you like to do now? - Is there any way I can think of his boots or something to make him a little less heavier? - You can take his shoes, sure. - Yeah, let's do that.

I'm not stealing them. I'm gonna tell him, I'm gonna talk to him as I'm taking the boots off. I'm not taking these from you, I promise. - So defensive. - Just take them, put them on the side. - Not stealing anything. - Take off his gloves and his bracers if he has anything that, any little thing that can help. - Right, yeah, totally. - Yeah, and then I'm gonna shout out top like, "Hey, he's good, I think." - So with the encouraging words of, "He's good, I think." (laughing) Layla and Cory, I guess you're gonna start pulling? - Yep. - Cory, give me a support roll, please.

- Okay. - Oh. - Okay, you're gonna be assisting. Layla, give me an athletics check. - Yay. Yay! - 27. You're gonna notice immediately that this guy is much heavier than Braylon. And digging in, you're gonna start to pull this body up. The rope is just pulled taut over the side of this cliff. The whole thing's rubbing as you pull this body up. And after a few minutes of you pulling and tugging, the body is going to start to, you're gonna see the head appear right over the cliff side here. And go ahead and give me another support roll, Cory. - Oh no! - Layla, give me an athletics check.

- Yay. - Oh, thank God. - Oh. (laughing) - Thank God. - Yeah. - Cory is gonna start to slip with the rope, but Layla's gonna catch it and just pull the rest of the way up, just absolutely tug. And Craig's body is going to come spilling over the top of this cliff. And Layla is gonna give a sigh of relief after the body is no longer putting pressure on the rope, and you can stop pulling now. Craig has been pulled up onto the side of this cliff here. - Okay. I think we should probably get Braylin up here as soon as possible. So if we could just not drag, but move Craig further away from the edge.

- Yeah, Layla will just walk over there real quick and pick him up and bring him over to where we were standing when we were pulling the rope. - There you go, yeah. - Okay. (laughing) - Braylin's gonna shout from the edge, "Help, priest!" (laughing) - Yeah, let's take the harness. Cory will take the harness off of this body and throw it over. - All right. So I'm imagining Braylin's gonna put the harness back on? - Absolutely. - No, he's just gonna hang out. - Okay. (laughing) - All right, and you guys are gonna pull him back up? - Nah, not really. - Let's just leave him there a while.

- Can I sing loudly? - Let's open any questions there, buddy. - Can I sing for them to help them out? Like, is it okay if I sing a song to encourage them as they're pulling me up? - Better hope they like the song, but yeah, sure. - Oh, God. All right, he's taking requests. I guess I know what I want to hear. - I don't know the title of it, but it's "I Don't Wanna Wait." (laughing) - Dawson's Creek Theme. - Yeah, I don't know the words, but I'm gonna give it a shot. - Hanging tough. - Yeah. (laughing) I don't know the words. So he'll put the harness on, and then he'll wait for them to start pulling up, and then he'll start singing.

And he's gonna sing. (singing) I don't know the beginning. Let's think, how's it go? - Fuck if I know. Dawson's Creek Theme. - Hold on, hold on, hold on. (singing) ♪ I don't wanna wait ♪ ♪ For my life to be over ♪ - He's gonna be shouting it, half as long. Not as beautiful as how I'm singing it, obviously. But he's doing it like that. (singing) - The majestic breeze of this mountaintop is just careening through Braylon's hair as he serenades these two young ladies with the Dawson's Creek Theme. - I tell Dagon something must have gone wrong. (laughing) - Sounds like he's in pain.

- Do we have to roll first? - Corey, give me your support. (laughing) - Damn it! That's two crit ones in a row. I'm so sorry, Danielle. - Just leave it all up to me, it's cool. - Danielle, please roll an athletics check. - It's gonna be good. Maybe, yeah. - Hopefully. - We're saving on butts right now. - It's pretty good. You guys are gonna pretty effortlessly pull Braylon up the side of this mountain here. Up to the cliff and he's going to scramble to the edge of it here. As soon as he gets a handheld, he's gonna kind of dig in with his feet and-- - Layla will drop the rope and rush forward, or not drop it, she'll hold onto it and rush forward and try to grab him.

She's not gonna drop it, that would be dumb. - Oh man. (laughing) - Leave it up to my crit one lady to help pull him back up to be bad. (laughing) - I was distracted by the tunes. - So yeah, Braylon is back up onto the cliff and safe. Do me a favor, everyone roll perception check please. - Hey, that wasn't that bad. Still not. - You are all gonna notice that, you're all gonna notice here that that rope was getting frayed. - Oh. - And it's a good thing that you got out there when you did. So you guys rescued that paladin and you are all safe and sound. Congratulations.

- Yes. - Oh shit. - What? - We can only fit three people in the boat. - I'm like half a person, I don't count as a full person. - That's kind of true. - Too true. - It'll be crowded, but you could do it. - Maybe we should take off his armor so that we get more room on the boat too. - Braylon can sit on someone's shoulders. - You're just trying to get him naked. - Yep, exactly. - Are we kidnapping this man? (laughing) - I guess we're pirates now, that's true. We asked for ransom. - I'm just gonna take, that's true. I didn't think about that. I was gonna take him on the boat.

- We'll thank us later. - We can't leave him there. - Yeah, we can't leave him here. - No, we have to, we have to take him. - We have to bring him, not take him. - Yeah, that sounds menacing. - Change our vocabulary a little bit. - He's worth nothing to us, dead. All right, you are loading this man up on the boat, the dinghy, and you are heading back to the ship. Arriving back at the drifting blade. I am imagining that the rest of the party is going to be a little curious as to what's happening. You help this guy back on the boat, you're... - Oh yeah, if I see he's in bad shape, I'm gonna rush to his help and try to heel check or something.

- Okay, so getting him, okay, running a heel check, you have basically assisted, this is a time thing. You've basically assisted him as much as you can right now. Again, severely dehydrated, he's gonna need water, he's gonna need some kind of attention and care. Yeah, he has a hell of a lot more chance of survival now. Probably another day on that cliff side, he would have been just dead. - Sorry, Corey's gonna look towards Dagon 'cause he probably knows the ship better, and ask, is there a captain's quarters we can put him in so that he can get some rest?

- Oh yeah, absolutely. I'll, here, I'll help you bring them over. - Okay, so then probably lift him up and head towards there. - Yeah, this guy's pretty heavy. He's dense, muscular and everything, just really dense. So taking him below deck, you're gonna let him rest and I guess you guys are ready to set sail again. - Take two. - See, it was just a little detour, guys, we made it out. - Yes, not that bad. What do we see on the cliff now? - Yeah, another body. - Fuck that, I'm going downstairs. - There's a baby red dragon. - Setting sail again. The next day or so is going to be pretty peaceful, actually.

The wind catching the sails, you guys are out at sea, the salty spray kind of misting you. It's actually really, really pleasant. That would be day one of your journey at sea. Now, it's gonna take you about three solid days of sailing to make it to where you're going in the Emgar Swamp. And what I would like you all to do is, I'm imagining you're resting each day, kind of taking shifts and... - Yeah, well, I'd probably like to get to know Lelo a little better as a fighter. Probably spar with her on the deck, ask her if she's fine with that, and then exchange fighting techniques, stuff like that.

And probably with Erelove as well, try to see if she can help me meditate or hone my new divine powers a little better. Try to spend that time training in that fashion. - Erelove would probably be looking at the coast a lot, knowing what direction they're walking or going in. So she's looking at the coast and kind of fidgeting like she doesn't wanna see something, but she does at the same time, 'cause, you know, Overwatch. - Well, I know in passing, Kory will probably go over to Braylin and just say, "Good job on the cliff earlier. You showed immense bravery." - He's gonna nod.

Yeah, thanks, it was... It's no sweat, we had it, we got it. - She'll just smile and give him a noogie and walk away. - He will sigh, he will sigh as he's getting like, "Ugh, God." - And then the rest of the time, we just sit at different parts of the ship, not interacting at all. (laughing) - Excellent. I'll be probably playing music for everybody. - Oh, I'm down with that, yeah. - Hey, you guys might be over there, but I'm apparently sparring and I'm liking it. (laughing) - Yeah, you've got a pretty unique technique, Leila. I admire your ferocity. - She smiles.

- So everyone's gonna get some rest and day two at sea. You are going to come fairly close to the shoreline. I would like you all to roll a perception check for me, please. - Oh. (laughing) - Okay, someone else. - Don't judge me. - That was the saddest one. - Oh no, you're my hero, Leila. - It's okay, you rocked it earlier. You're fine. - Okay. (laughing) - All right, Actoronus is not seeing anything. Neither is Brailin and neither is, oh yeah. Leila is certainly not seeing anything. So. - I can see my feet. - Cory, Airlove and Dagon, you are all going to see the city of Overwatch.

This is a very large city that rests not really on top of a cliff, but the back portion of it dips completely off into a waterfall. It's a highly recognizable city because of its really large, almost dome-shaped walls that encompass the entire thing. Airlove would absolutely know, would absolutely know what that city looks like, even from behind, and it is highly visible from where you are in the boat. I would imagine Cory would also know what the city looks like coming from the Evergreen. - As they pass by, Cory's gonna have sort of a, not aggravated, but like discontented look on her face and she's not gonna say anything at all.

Very standoffish. - Airlove is kind of leaning against the railing, like with her hands, like white knuckling the railing as she looks at it. She's just standing there intensely gazing at it, not saying anything as well. - At this point in time, is this city still in fire or on flames? On the smoking? - You can't tell anything, no, no smoke. You can't tell anything from where you're sitting. It just looks, from the back it looks fine. - All right. - It looks absolutely pristine. Now, if you were looking at it from the front, that would be different. - Would we notice Airlove's reaction?

The white knuckles, perhaps the easiness? - Do me a favor. I would say that the three of you are pretty close to just checking this out. So do me a favor, Cory Dagon, roll a perception check. I would say you both notice. (all laughing) I guess Dagon will sort of look down at Airlove's hands and then back up to her and just say bad memories, perhaps? - My past, why is there something I've been trying to avoid? Just looking at it brings back everything. One of the biggest mistakes I've ever made. - Well, I know we've all made those and it's in your past now.

I'm not saying you have to open up about it, but just remember that if you do want to, you can talk to us. - I really appreciate it. Do you know what I was doing before I joined up with you? Did I ever talk about it? - No, no, we don't know. We only really know your name. - She turned around and she's wearing a dark cloak, but she kind of opens it up and underneath there's a chain mail with kind of a symbol on it that's very faded, kind of looks scratched off actually. And she's like, she looks down at it and looks up at him and said, "I used to be in the army.

I was part of the Overwatch. I was part of the suppression. I hurt people. I thought it was gonna make everything better. I thought order would be good, but their order was not. It wasn't good." - What made you believe the Overwatch would be able to help you? - I saw countless cruelty from every race. I thought I heard about the Overwatch in that they had no crime, but then once I was there, I realized they didn't have any crime because they would kill anyone who committed the slightest offense. I thought it'd be better, but I guess you could say I ran away from that and I'm trying, I don't know, to find my way again.

- It sounds like you were misled as to the Overwatch was very good at doing. - I was just gonna say, when you said misled, she'll clench her fist in fireside and say, "Yes, yes I was." - But it also sounds like you're seeking redemption, perhaps to atone for some of those killings. And that is something I can respect. - Thank you. I just need to figure out what it is I'm supposed to be doing. I don't wanna make any more mistakes. - In the distance, as you're closing out day two here, it looks as though a storm is brewing. And I would imagine you're all gonna get some rest.

- If there's a storm brewing, Cory's gonna stay awake. - So beginning day three, right around midnight actually, just cresting into day three at sea, two things are gonna start to become apparent. One, you guys should've brought more water. Food supplies are fine, but the only water you guys brought was in your canteen. That ran out in day two, even rationing it. But thankfully, it is going to start downpouring. Nasty, nasty waves are gonna start to crest over the side of the ship. So water, water won't be too much of a problem in the long run. You just have to worry about capsizing.

Everyone, actually, one of you. I want one of you to roll a flat D20 for me. - No dibs. - Not it, not it. I'm not. Red shirt's cursed, man, don't give me that. - I'm just saying not it because my dice have been pretty hot right now and I feel a bad roll. - Dagon, you're the new face of group two. - Yeah, I was gonna say I'm kind of driving. I'm just kind of steering things with my mind or something. I don't know how it works exactly. But I'll just will it to stay afloat. Okay, I'll roll it. 12. - Not good, not bad. It's over the halfway mark. - It's above average.

- It is above average. Do we get plus two for doing a good deed earlier? - I think that's how karma works. (laughing) Nothing nature pays attention to, but you did a good deed. - Why is there a map, Jason? (laughing) - Ooh, there's the deck. - It is pitch black. - You're swabbing the deck, right? (laughing) - It is pitch black and the roar of the ocean slamming against the sides of this boat is going to be almost deafening as sheets, sheets of rain are just pelting you in the face and the wind is so goddamn strong that it's hard to stand upright, especially with the boat moving and jostling like it is.

Everyone roll a perception check for me, please. - Is that 12 to see what is gonna attack us? I have a feeling it is. - Air love, Layla, Dagon, and Corey, above all this noise and commotion, you're gonna hear a sound. And it's going to sound sort of like a roar, but more reptilian. Slinking up along the side of the boat, you're going to see a long neck. It essentially looks like a giant snake. Almost a reptilian, that's sort of a dragon-like face on it though. And that is going to shoot up out of the water and sort of jut up along the side of the ship, peer over the side of it and narrow its eyes at all of you.

And then a moment later, three more heads are going to emerge from the water in exactly the same way. - God damn it. - Layla will instantly grab her weapon. Ladies and gents, if you'd like to place your characters somewhere on the boat here. - No. - Where are these enemies in relation to our boat? - So yeah, is this one creature or three? - It counts as one. - It's Hydra. - Damn, all right, I'm gonna, guess I'll stick close to you guys, help you out here. - Maybe I'll just stick back with Craig. Craig's better now, right? - He's asleep. - Yeah, where's Snickers? 'Cause I would be by Snickers.

- Okay. What's he doing in the back? - Well, there's no room for my friend, right? - This is kind of, this is all kind of catching you off guard. It's okay, asshole. - Get up front, get up. - Let's add the party. - We rested, right, so I can. - You all rested, yes. - I'm gonna unclick some stuff. - Boy, I hope this doesn't go really, really bad. - Okay, so ranged, right? Everyone stay back, ranged. - They're in first group two again. - It sucks because I'm telling you, you have the ballot up. - You always do this to us. - The battle's on the other side, where the formation's all fucked up.

- Yeah. - Well, we saw it first, so we could probably move our people. - I didn't see it. - Oh yeah, you didn't. - Yeah. - I darned. - Yeah, it would make sense. - I'm gonna put a mic right there. - Everyone roll initiative. - Nice. - And I gotta do the improved initiative, so add four to it. - Yep. - Nice. - That sucked. - Mine should have four extra on there, Jason, 'cause it erased before I could click the button. Thank you. - Dagon, your turn. - Oh man, okay. Okay, I'm going to move back a bit. Two, three, and use Force Blast. - Okay. - Man, that's a miss. That was 24 versus AC, so help us all.

- Anything else, sir? - No, not yet. - Right, Corey, your turn. - Okay, I'm gonna do Guardian Harrier, which is an Atwill power, and Trigger Action is my Pale Wolf Slur, which is an encounter power, but I'll do the Guardian Harrier first. - Okay. - Can I do a plus two for being speedy? - You get a plus one for being speedy. - Oh, it's plus one? - Yes. - Okay then. Attack, attack, attack. Oh, thank God. - That is a hit. - Okay, so if it hits, I'll do that after. I'll do damage first. 23. - 23 damage. - And that triggers my encounter Pale Wolf Slur, which conjures a Pale Wolf that occupies one scare adjacent to the target until the end of my next turn.

If the enemy moves out of the square adjacent to the wolf, it takes five damage, but if it doesn't move, it takes damage due to my Guardian Harrier. - Okay, cool beans. Anything else? - Nope, that's it. - Thundermaw Hydra. One of the heads of this Hydra is going to rear back and it's going to slowly open its gaping maw and thunder and lightning are gonna start crackling within it. And after a moment, it is going to belch this God awful lightning orb and it's going to careen towards the deck of the ship. So, let's see here, that is a blast three. Braelon, Actaronis, Erolove and Kori.

It's gonna attack all four of you. That is a hit on Braelon. That is a hit on Erolove. That is a hit on Kori. That is a hit on Actaronis. - Okay, I'm gonna use an immediate reaction. An enemy within five squares of me attacks one or more of my allies. In fact, the target is blinded until the end of its next turn. - Oh. - Nice. - And it bursts out from the enemy's square but there's obviously nobody else. There's no other enemy, so only he's blinded. - Okay. - And that's my encounter power, call to vigilance, call for vigilance. - Okay, Erolove, you had something too?

- Yes, I have an immediate interrupt. I can use this power when an enemy hits me, I gain plus two power bonus. Oh, no, that's easy, damn it. Got it. Fuck, sorry. - Save it, you might need it later. - Yes. - Let's roll damage. - How does that hit Kori? - Oh my God. - You know, the play, right? - What? - God. - It's a blast. 37 damage to all of you. - I'm bloody. - Oh, yeah. That me rethink my strategy? - That's 'cause we're in the front row. That's okay, we'll just move back and hopefully not get thunderbolted. - So this thing is blind now. All of its eyes and all of its heads are blind.

- You said it was a blast three? - Yeah, it wouldn't hit her. - Wait, you're right, it doesn't hit Kori, I am so sorry. - You know I'm listening to you. - I was listening to you, Danielle. - I was thinking burst, sorry. I was thinking burst, my bad. - If it hits her, then it would have to hit me. - You're right, I completely screwed up, I'm very, very sorry. - Gave her back her head pump. - I did? - It's a small victory. - Airlove, your turn. - Okay, Danielle, you're gonna go right up on it, aren't you? - Oh, I don't have any range, do I, Jason? I thought I talked about getting a bow at some point, but I don't remember if I ever did.

- I think you may have a crossbow, let me check your weapons and stuff. Scanner, he doesn't have it listed here, but I always imagine that being pretty standard. - I thought I would have gotten one, like I don't see her not being prepared for range. - Your ranged basic attack wouldn't do anything for damage anyway. - Okay. - You're not, that's not where your focus is. - Oh yeah, probably. - Okay, then I'm gonna conjure the guardian angel right up next to it, and I'll give you a plus two power bonus AC. In addition, when an ally gets hit by an attack, I can dismiss the angel and then do reduce the damage by half.

So while you're up there, you'll have that. - Okay, thank you. - Okay, first let me move back, because I'm not. - 'Cause fuck that noise. - Yes, and then I'm gonna do guardian angel right up next to it, do I do that, or? - We'll put it right, where is it? - It's range 10, so wherever Layla's gonna go, it's gonna go next to her. So right here. - Okay, so I have this thing called a mobile blade. It's an at will martial stance that if I hit with my basic attack, I can move a number of squares up to my dexterity modifier as a free action. - Right. - So can I use that and like run away?

Like go hit it and then run away? - Well yeah, you absolutely can. I mean, that's totally up to you. - Okay, can I use that multiple times? - Well, it's a stance, it doesn't end until you end it or shift into another stance. - Hey, that sucks, 'cause I have two stances that I can't use at the same time. - Well, that's the thing, that's your at will too. So that's, well, that's a minor first option. So yeah, okay, so yeah, you can shift into that stance if you want and then make a melee and then you can shift after that if you wanna do that. What's your dex mod exactly?

- Five, next dating modifier, three. - So you could shift three squares. - Okay. - Okay, so you're moving close to this thing I'm imagining? - Yeah. - Let me put the angel real fast. Oh, that's not what I meant to do, not bad. I guess I'll, oh my gosh, so sensitive. It just be next to Leila. There, okay, done. - Okay. - All right, Leila, your turn. All right, so I'm going to run up to right here and I'm going, I'm gonna take my mobile blade stance. - Okay. - And then I'm going to attack it with my melee basic. Let's hope this works. Of course I miss, but I should have-- - That's a crit.

- Yeah, then I can't, oh yeah, uh-huh. (laughs) - Oh shit. - Um. - Action? - I miss early? - That's up to you, totally up to you. - Should I do my action point now, guys? - I'm gonna yell, like, I'll give you a window to move away and I'm gonna use a power that makes it not attack. - Okay, wait, okay, wait, no. Oh, I can't, I don't want to use heroic effort yet 'cause I have heroic effort. - You haven't taken any damage yet, what, I mean-- - I know, okay, I'll wait. Hopefully it won't attack me. - It's totally up to you. - I'll just hang my head in shame. - It's raining really hard, it'd be easy to miss.

- Yeah, okay. - Bralin, your turn. - Okay, I got a couple ideas, but I am going to obviously not be this fucking close to the Kaiju that's right here. Let's see, movement of five. I think I'll stay there, yeah, okay. And then I'm gonna use, actually, Actoronas, are you gonna be able to heal us? - From where I am right now, I can do a burst healing on everyone, yeah. - Okay, even, okay, so I probably should move. - I can reach even Dagon, so. - Oh, okay, okay, I'm gonna move over, I'm gonna go one more, just hang out one more. Okay. Oh, man. I wish I knew if this guy could be dominated or not, 'cause I could potentially dominate him, but I don't know if my tiny halfling music can-- - Does it have any restrictions?

Like, does your tower have-- - Not, just the target is dominated, range 10, one creature. - There you go. - It's a daily though. It's either this or we die. So I'm going to use my Song of Discord on the Kaiju and it is plus 14 versus, it's versus Will. - Just keep calling it a Kaiju. - It's a Kaiju, man came out of the water, looked at us, narrowed its eyes. - Pretty legit. - Click on the guy and attack. (grunts) - That is a hit. - Yeah, woo. And he is dominated until the end of my next turn. He can make basic melee attacks against an enemy of my choice as a free action.

- Well, here's what's gonna happen. - Oh, make the head attack each other? - Yes, that's what I was thinking, yeah. - While you didn't dominate all of the Hydra, you did dominate one of the heads. - Absolutely. - And on its turn, the head is going to rear around and attack one of the other heads. - Does that happen on its turn right now? 'Cause it's an effect. - Oh, well then, okay, that happens right now. Then one of the heads is going to attack itself. So let's try that. That is gonna hit. - Hell yeah. - So cool. - 41 damage to itself. - All right, I think I'm done with my turn.

- Yeah, that was a very good turn. - Actually, wait, wait, wait, I'm sorry, I'm sorry. Hold on, hold on. Okay, I'm gonna use an action point. - Oh shit. - Because when I use an action point, I use Righteous Beacon. Whenever I spend an action point, I can choose to project Bright Light out from five squares until the end of my next turn. While in this light, allies gain plus four bonus to all defenses and do not provoke opportunity attacks. - Oh shit. - I'm gonna use it on the space. Let's see if I can make a little square right here. And it's, what's the range on this motherfucker here?

Five squares. Out to five squares, okay, so I can only go five. And I will do it right here. No, that's too big. I don't want that one. I want it here, the second one. - Okay, and just get this one. - So that's for one turn? The defense bonus? - While whoever's in that light, you get plus four to defenses and do not provoke opportunity attacks. It doesn't say I want it last. - Oh, until the end of my next turn, sorry. Till the end of my next turn. - So wait a second, what's the burst on that? - It just says, let me see, the righteous beacon power here. I just saw it earlier.

What the hell? It just says I can project Bright Light out to five squares. Is it all around me? Is that what that means? - Yeah. - Oh, okay, cool. So I gotta draw a big ass box around myself. - I don't see that listed. - It's under action point on my character sheet. - Oh, okay. I was looking at powers. Okay, well then yeah, that's gonna be out from you. - One, two, three, four, five. So that means everyone except Aralim. - Aralim is pretty far back. - And then I get another action and I'm gonna use inspiring refrain on him. Oh no, I can't, I can't, sorry. Let's do distracting shot.

- Okay. - So. Oh, they can't all be winners, it's okay. - Anything else? - I think that's all I can do for now. - All right, Snickers. - How was Snickers? - Snickers. - How's my chair, sorry. - Oh, okay. Snickers is going to race up to the side of the deck and lunge at the throat of one of these hydra heads. He is going to bite. That is a hit. 26 damage. - That a boy. - Acteronus, your turn. - Okay, Brelyn, do you control the movements of, like you don't have complete control of the hydra, right? Since, okay. - No, I'm not sure what dominated it. I've never dominated creature.

- Normally, well normally dominated would mean that he would have control of the thing, but it's so large that it's just one of the heads. So it's just, I'm gonna assume that it's gonna attack itself. - Cool. - So that's what it did. - All right, I'll open up with a classic shield of faith and give everyone within five plus two AC for the rest of the encounter. - Okay, so it's plus six. - Well, it's a power bonus, I don't think they stack, but when the light disappears, that plus two is gonna stay there. - Okay. - So that's used. Then I'm gonna use battle surge, which everyone within five regains hit points as if they had spent a healing surge.

And everybody gains a plus two power bonus to the next attack roll until the end of my next turn. So everyone who's lost health can make, regain hit points as if you've spent a healing surge. But that was a standard. I thought I would have an action with that. I still have a move. - I suggest moving backward. - Yeah, I think I'll go, I'll just spread out. Maybe like here. Oh, but then I said, I told Leila I would allow her to move away, but it's blinded and it can't take attacks of opportunities. - Well, considering that I didn't have to run away, I can still just attack it again and then hopefully run away.

- Yeah. - Jason, do I add the 18 to myself? - Yeah, go ahead. - Yeah, I guess I'm gonna wave my arms at it and say, look at me beast, Leila, there's your chance. So that was my window, I promised. (dramatic music) - All right. - Okay, I'm gonna try force blast again. That's what I was trying to say when everyone thought I died or something. There we go. Apparently his AC is 25. I didn't say that. And let's roll some damage here. 18. - 18 damage, guess what? - He died. - We killed a head. - Dagon has blasted one of the heads of this Hydra. - Yay. - Way to go Dagon.

- Wait, that's not good guys. - Yeah. (laughing) - Oh, right, two more. - Have you guys seen Hercules? - Yeah. - Oh, God damn it. - One of us has to get swallowed. That's how Hercules beat him. - Okay, if this happens, we need to strategize on what's gonna actually kill this thing. - You are the tiniest, Braylon. You probably fit. - Aw, man. (laughing) - Just kidding. - Another life endangerment. - Someone's gonna volunteer to be swallowed. Heroes come in all sizes. - And I wanna move up one here just to finish my turn. - All righty. - Corey, your turn. - I muted myself.

Okay, so very quickly, my wolf is gone. Now he only lasts one turn, but because the hydra didn't move, he takes five damage from that, and my last attack hit, so I'm supposed to roll two D10 extra damage. So if I could just remember what the D10 is. Oh, there it is. Look, it even said it. So, oh, yay. - Nine damage, okay. - Woo. - Then for my move, I'm gonna just slide back a little bit. I'm gonna pop Stone Endurance, which gives me resist 10 to all damage. - Okay. - And then I'm going to do Squall Spirit, which isn't against AC, so I'm hoping it'll be easier to hit.

- Oops, oops, I did not mean to attack Snickers. How do I exit out of that? - Oh, just hit cancel. - Okay, here we go. Damn it. Okay. - Event plus two from my-- - All defenses? - Battle serve. - That would make it a 24. - That'll still miss. - Damn it. - It's a good fort. - Okay, well, action point. - Okay. - I'm not gonna not do damage. Let's try Storm of Spirit Shards. - Well, there's some shakiness in your voice, Jamie, it's okay. - There's supposed to be an ability when you use an action point, now that you're a Paragon. - Is there? - Should be, hold on. Action, rerouted action, rerouted action.

Action point spent. You can also move your speed or shift half your speed before or after that action. - That's lame. - In any other fight, it wouldn't be, it's just you're on a boat. - Right. - Hits. - All right, at least that hit. 32. - 32 damage. - Boom. - Very nice. Is that it? - I believe that's all I can do. I don't think I said what my thing did, but it gives me a 10, resist 10 to all damage, so. - Yes, you did, a Thunderball Hydra. Thunderball Hydra is blinded and one of its heads have been dominated. Now a Jerk DM would say that was the head that got blasted off.

I'm not a Jerk DM. - Well then why would I attack that head? - Right, exactly. It's silly. He is going to use Bite on Snickers. - Oh no. - No. - He still has plus four AC. Four all the other instances. - He still has plus four AC and he's gonna get a negative five for being blind. - Doesn't he have plus six or was he not in the-- - It's only, they don't stack, so it's plus four. So one, that's still gonna hit. - If you kill my pet. - It's not gonna hit. - Oh my God. - Too much light on that boat. Both of those are gonna miss Snickers. So it's just, just picture these giant Hydra heads just snapping at the, just aggressively at the air and it's gonna keep, it's gonna miss twice against Snickers.

Erolove, your turn. - Okay. Alex, how long is he blinded for? - He just now is not blinded. He just got unblended at the end of his turn. - I should be blinded again. - Yeah. - One, two, three, four. And then I'll do Cerulean Flames, another daily. It'll be all up on him right there. Oh, and as a minor, I'm gonna sustain the angel. And then when they attack him. Do I get any power bonuses? Wasn't there like plus two from Actuaronis? - Still plus two, yeah. - That is gonna, ooh, that's a crit one. - Oh my God. Ollie's still blinded, so. - Okay, so he is still, Thundermaw's blinded again.

- Yeah. - System ends, I mean, save ends, so. - Okay, cool. - But that's it. - Layla, your turn. - Okay, so I am, I am going to use my melee basic attack again. Let's hope this actually works. Yay. - That is totally a hit. - Nice job. - Okay, and then damage, 24. - Okay, 24 damage. Let's check something. - That's super solid for being melee damage. That's incredible. - Yeah. - That's it, yeah. - I hit hard. Aha, why are you laughing like that? - I was, I'm reveling in your victory. - You're reading something. You're reading something and you found a loophole that's gonna kill us all.

- Raylan, your turn. - I think he just uses that voice to fuck with us now. - He's probably like rolling a dice to see how many more heads appear. - Oh, don't say that. - We better kill it before that happens. - At the end of my turn, that one head's not dominated anymore, guys. BT dubs. - Yeah. - But since right now it very much is dominated, it's gonna roll an attack against itself. - Yeah, yeah, that. Don't miss yourself, yes. - Okay, I was about to say, it is still blinded. (laughing) So, as a result of being bloody. - Oh, I like that sentence. - Only the best things start.

He is gonna use something called Hydra Fury. (laughing) - Cool. - That sounds so much fun. - He's gonna give us all an animal. - Is he gonna spit out sprinkles? - Yes. So, first of all, he is going to bite off one of his own heads in the attack. There are two Hydra heads remaining. The remaining heads are going to bite furiously down towards Snickers, still blinded. But because there are only two heads, they get a plus five to the attack. So, it's gonna break you. - Wait, how many heads did he have? - He had four to begin with. - Oh, four, okay. - Yeah. - There's three.

- So, biting down at Snickers. That is a miss. Biting down a second time at Snickers. That is a miss. Both times will miss Snickers. - Snickers. - MVP. - MVP Snickers. - Uh, Brailin, the rest of your turn, sir. - Sweet, okay. Seeing that impressive display, Brailin's, he's gonna like, have a smirk on his face. And he's going to, without the loot, and sing. Well, it'll be a wand, but he'll still sing anyways. He's gonna use Stirring Shout, which is another daily. And it's, right here, Stirring Shout. Click on attack, click on the guy. Do it again. Yeah. Oh, it's the wrong one, sorry.

Ha ha. - It was Snickers. - Oh, Snickers, yeah. - But yeah, 30 versus, yeah, totally. - Sweet. - Wow, you rolled the exact same thing. - I did, that's crazy. Maybe I got table hacks, question mark. I'll do damage. Oh, not on Snickers, though. How do I get it off Snickers? - Just hit cancel, then roll. - Yeah. - Go back and roll damage for me. This takes psychic damage. Not a whole lot. - Okay. 19 damage is really respected. - There's an effect here. Until the end of the encounter, whenever an ally hits the target, that ally regains hit points equal to my charisma modifier, which is six.

- Nice. - Right. - Nice. - Stirring Shout, that's the end of my turn. - All right, Snickers. Snickers is going to bite at the throat of the hydra here. - Yes. - That is gonna hit. - It's 28 damage to the hydra. Actoron is your turn. - Very professional. - Okay, so I'm going to... Actually, it's a blast three, so I could hit that corner right here, right? The bleeding corner with a blast three? - Sure can, yes. - Okay, cool. I'm gonna use Shield of the Gods. If I hit, it's versus reflex. If I hit, it's gonna be knocked prone, whatever that is gonna mean. - And then as an effect, one ally or myself is gonna get a plus three shield and reflex bonus until the end of the encounter, and I can switch it as a miner between people.

So let's roll that. - That's a crit miss. - Yeah, that is a crit miss. All right, but I'm gonna put the plus three AC and reflex on Snickers. No, wait, on Leila, actually. - Okay. - And let me see if I have a little something defensive. I'm gonna try a little something. I'm gonna get in range, shift here, use my action point. Gives me plus four on my next attack roll, and I'm gonna use Righteous Brand. And it's going to give, if I hit, it's going to give Leila plus three on her next attack roll. - Ooh. - That sounds awesome. - So that's plus four. Let me just edit that.

Okay. - Oh, crit one. - Are you shitting me? - All right, end of the turn. - That is the worst luck. - Retreat and throw an snare. - All right, here's what's gonna happen. The end of the round, a huge wave is going to come crashing down on the starboard side of this boat behind you. And this is going to be an attack versus your fortitude. So let's... 16 versus all of your fortitudes. - Miss. - Miss. - Miss. - Miss. - Baller. - This is everybody. Okay, so this huge wave is gonna come crashing down, but all of you in the thick of combat are gonna kind of have your feet parted and your stance is sure, and this is not going to knock you off your feet, but it is going to come slamming against all of your backs.

The hydra is going to start regenerating heads. Because he has lost two so far, four more are going to come sprouting out of the water, which means there is a total of six heads now. - Dagon, your turn. - Oh my God. - Do we have a strategy here? Do we just keep mashing at it? - Blow up the boat. - I don't want to be a beta, but I do have Purging Flame, which is daily, and it's ongoing tin fire damage. - I mean, it's an attack you would do anyway. - Yeah. - Okay, well I'm going to use a daily mental trauma, action rage 20, if I miss it's half damage at least, and it gives him Vulnerable Five Psychic.

Oops. - Is it mishapping what you said? - Yeah, mishap damage. - Okay. - 13. - Okay, 13. That means Dagon's got a charge. - Yeah. - All right, so 13 damage. Are you all done? - I am done, yes. - Okay, Corey, your turn. - Awesome sauce. - Can I have a quick question? - Sure. - If I'm charging, am I not allowed to use a trigger? - You're not allowed to do anything other than charge. - Okay. - Okay, question very quickly. So I am having a hard time deciding between two powers. One is Possessing Spirits, which lets me take over an enemy and they attack enemies adjacent to it.

The other attacks and any enemy adjacent to it takes an ongoing five fire damage, save ends. Would each head then have to roll separately to get out of the five fire damage? - It's one entity, so it would count as one creature. - Okay, then I'm going to do Possessing Spirits so that it attacks itself, hopefully, and it's versus will. So here we go. - How does it hit? - Yes. - Okay. - So you're going to have it attack itself? - Yes, but I also get damage with it. - Ooh. - So yep, it makes a melee basic attack as a free action against an enemy adjacent to it, and if that attack hits, the target and the enemy are dazed until the end of my next turn.

- Okay, well technically it's supposed to be an enemy adjacent to it, which doesn't exist, but I'm going to let you have it against itself. - Oh, okay. - Okay. Another one of the heads has just been severed, so it's back down to five heads and it's going to make an attack versus itself. That is going to miss. - Damn. - Boom. Thundermaw Hydra. It is going to use Hydra Fury and attack with all five heads, and it is going to start to run down the line here. It's going to attack three times against Snickers. That is a miss. - I don't want it to hit. - That is a hit, so damage to Snickers. 35 damage.

- Ouch. - How many hit points does Snickers have? Snickers has 60 hit points, so he's bloody now. - As a result. - Yes. - Eight. So Snickers is down to 17 hit points, and let's see, two more attacks. They're going to go after Layla. That'll miss Layla. - Oh. - You have plus three AC and rev. 31 with that. - Still hit. Yeah, my AC is 24. - If you want it to be half damage, I could dismiss the angel, but we'll see. - I think you have to make that decision before. - No, I have 87 hit points. - Okay. - 21 damage to you. - You can take it. - I can. - Still more than my max.

Oh man. - Hydra is going to pop an action point. - God, he can't do that. - You know what? Hydra fury again. He is going to just start running down the line here, attacking Snickers. That'll hit. 41 damage. Two of these heads are going to rip Snickers over the side of this boat and tear him in half. - What? No. Snickers. - I could have done the angel thing for him, but... - He's just gone. He's not on the map anymore. - Oh no. - I think I'm more... - Do you want to interrupt? - I feel like I should keep it there for Layla. God, Jamie, you decide. Should I save him?

- I could use Word of Life, I guess, but he reduced it to more than zero. He reduced it to negative 20 something. - Okay, but hold on. - How much was he... - Look what the Hydra just did to Snickers. - No, like 41 damage. - Look what he could do to us. - Maybe he could do... - Yeah, yeah. - Like, I know it sucks, but... - I think you should keep it for Layla. - Yeah, that's why you're in charge, James. - So cold. - And more sad than when I died. - No one ever put me in charge. Just remember. - You took charge. That's what a leader does. - I didn't take anything. - I had an idea.

- This Hydra is going to attack Layla. That will hit. 32 damage to Layla. It is going to rear around and attack Actoronus. - Oh, thank god. - It has a two for reach. That will hit. Two more attacks. 32 damage. It's going to attack Actoronus again. That will miss. - You guys need to back up. - It's going to attack Layla again. That will hit. - What? - A media interrupt angel, half damage. - Half damage to the attack. 14 damage. - What the hell is wrong with you? - Airalove, your turn. - Oh, Jesus. - Kill it with fire. - Yep. It's one of my attacks. So this is your meta.

It's a daily, so I would have used it anyways. Oh, first, I don't want to be that person, but save versus the Cerulean flames. - Oh, yes. Good. Yes. - Damn it. - Oh, he critted the fucking stuff. - It's okay. That means that crit was wasted. And now when he tries to attack us, it'll be lower. - It's because I just fucking hate this. - I can't delete the AoE, so it's just going to stay there. - Behind you, right? Behind you. - Okay. I'm going to attack it with flames. And it even does half damage and ongoing fire damage, even if I miss. So... Oh, I'm sorry. Do I still have plus two from actor on us?

- Uh, no. No, I had a turn since. - I miss. It still does half damage, though. - Okay. - And it's ongoing five fire damage. No power bonuses anymore either. No. Okay. - It's too late to realize that I have a power I could have used when Snickers died to a vengeance, right? - Yeah, it's a little late. - Yeah. God damn new characters. - Anything else? - Uh... Would have plus one would have gotten him. Sixteen. - I'm going to say no. - Damn it. - Tentatively. I'm going to check the math, but... - Ah, damn it. Um... No. Close burst ten? Free action? I could do more fire damage?

And push it? - Could it hurt? - With infernal wrath? No, I think that's just when I'm attacked. Okay. No, but ongoing five fire damage as well. - All right. Marked off. Laylee, your turn. - Okay. Um... I am... Going to use power strike? But I guess it's a trigger when you hit an enemy with a melee basic. - So you can use power strike if you swing your melee basic and hit it. - Yeah. What does the moral W in parentheses mean? - Weapon damage. - So... - That's automatically factored into the math. - So I can use that... - So, okay. - The effect is the target takes one W extra damage from the triggering attack.

- Yes. So your weapon is a d12. So if you hit, you can roll an extra d12 for your attack. So it'll be 3d12 plus 13. - Oh, okay. If not, I'm going to run away. - That's good up here. - Because I'm still in that stance. - That is a hit. - Nice. - Okay. - So 3d12 plus 13. - How do I do that? Do I just have to roll it manually? - Um, yeah. Just roll it manually. - There's the 12. There it is. Okay. I hate this thing. 37. And can I run away? - 30. - What? - Yes, you can. 37 damage. - Bye-bye. - You are going to slice at the throat of this hydra and it is going to let loose a tremendous roar as lightning crackles out of its mouth and lights up the night stormy sky.

Raylan, your turn. - I don't like how you waited at the end of that. Thought it was going to fall into the water and you lied. - Okay. - Suddenly Craig appears. - I got, I got heals. If you need heals, cause it looks like Layla is doing the most damage. But I don't want to lose Arcturonus. - Hydra can use heal. - He's not getting it. - God damn. - The one, just the one head. - He's not on our side anymore. He betrayed us. - He's a mole. - Yeah. Or I could make it get penalties to its attack roll until the end of my next turn. - Curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal.

- Ah, I need to heal. I need to heal someone. - Heal. - Yeah. Yeah. I think I'm gonna, I'm gonna give a majestic word. Oh, but it's first five. - I have to move. God damn it. - No, then heal Arcturonus. - No, no, no, no. - I could use, I could pop a healing surge. I'm okay with that. - Both are fine. - Oh, sure. - Weren't we supposed to regain hit points if we hit him? - Yeah, six. Six for me. - Oh, so Layla too? - Yeah, from my, what is it? Not majestic, what's the hell do I use? Stirring shot, stirring shout, sorry, stirring shout. - How long does that last? - Until the end of the encounter, until this thing's dead.

Every time you hit it, you're gonna get six back. - Oh, so I would get six? Sweet. - Yeah. All right. I'm gonna have to do my last daily, well, one of my last dailies. Okay, I'm gonna use hideous laughter. So Braylin puts the loot on his back, gets his wand, and lets out the best friend dresser laugh he can think of, he can muster. - Oh, I thought that spell was making the enemy laugh. - Well, I'm repurposing it. - It's all yours. - This hydra's incapable of humor, obviously. He just ripped apart the MVP. - Save the rest. - I'm gonna hear about that later. - No.

- Oh yeah, you are. You're gonna hear about it. - Half damage and he can't take opportunity attacks. He can't take opportunity actions until the end of my next turn. - All right. Anything else? - I'm gonna roll damage. I have damage. - Still have dice. - Cool. - I have this. 12. - 12 damage. Actoronus, your turn. - All right, I will leave the shield on Layla. I'm gonna heal myself with a healing word. I don't remember how much healing word. Okay, it's plus 3d6. I spend a healing surge plus 3d6, plus eight. That's gonna be 28. - Very nice. I should take you out of the way.

- Hooray. - Nice. - And then I'm going to yell at the creature and say, "Go back to the waters you came from." Actually, that has no consequence with the power itself. It's gonna make him not attack. Hold on. - So it's just advice. - Yeah. It's what I really want. - I would really like it if you just go back. - Should have said something like a one-liner that fit. Okay, rune of peace. That's why I couldn't fight it. All right, so it's save ends. So one weapon plus three modifier damage and the target cannot attack. Save ends. - Wow. You're all done? - I'm gonna roll damage.

- 14. - 14. Nice. Okay. End of the round. - I'm just gonna move back. - Oh, good. - Like here. - All right. Good call. Good call. Another wave is going to come crashing this time from the port side. Spilling over the side, over the head of the hydra itself. 30 against all of your fortitudes. - Oh, well, that's a hit for sure. - Yeah. - Yeah. - Well, fuck. This wave is just too much for the crew of the Aluyanda. - Wait, do I have any buffs for anything? - I don't think anything that's gonna beat a 30 against your fortitude. - My fortitude is a 29. - Oh shit. - If I had a buff, I would stand firm.

- Hmm. I didn't give you any. - Would that be a count for all defenses? - Yeah, all defenses fortitude is in there. - Jason, does this count as an attack from the ocean or a hazard? - Um, this is more the ocean itself, like nature itself. - Okay, never mind. - I can attack the ocean. - Just slapping waves. - All of you are going to be pushed back five squares and it's such a nasty wave, it almost spills the entire crew over the side of the ship. If not for the heavy duty guardrails that are protecting you, you would all go spilling into the ocean itself and probably to your watery graves.

So let's move you all back. And you are all knocked prone. - It's cool, I get hit from back here. - Yeah, likewise. - Same. - Corey, your turn. - Okay, I'm gonna stand up. - Wait, I gotta roll. - Oh. - Oh yes, oh so sorry. - Charge roll. - Charging, yes. - 5220. - No. - No. - That's a crit one. Fuck me. Fuck, fuck. - Oh god. - Yes indeed. - Corey, your turn. - So that's half damage. - That's half damage for whatever attack you do. - Fuck. - Oh, that sucks. - Okay, I'm gonna stand up and I'm gonna use my last daily guys. So it's called Wildfire Shot. One creature wisdom versus reflex.

Wisdom modifier fire damage. This is where it gets five ongoing fire damage save ends. So yeah, oops, oops. Okay, all right, I got this. We're fine. I got it. We're cool. Oh, thank god. - That is a hit. - Nice. - Okay, I mean it's not much damage, but it's my last daily. So 25. - One of the heads of this hydra is going to splinter, split down the middle and blood is going to pour out of it. This blood is going to ignite like a molotov cocktail. This entire hydra is going to burst into flames as it lets loose a tremendous roar and slowly slinks back into the sea.

- No. - Did it die? - It's dead. - Oh my god. - Yes. - Thank you. Thank you so much. - Way to go Corey. - That was my last daily. I was so scared. - I didn't know how the hell we were getting out of that. That is so awesome. - You are not forgiven for killing Snickers, but I can't. - Can we save him? Is he like floating like... - That's gonna be the first thing Corey does is she's gonna run over to the side of the deck and look to see if he's there. - Did the wave bring him back onto the deck? - You don't want him back on the deck. - I'm gonna put my hand on Corey and just shake my head no.

- He's dramatic. - Can I roll a perception or something? - You can if you like. - Just because that's totally what Corey would do. Not because I'm super attached to this fake dragon. - Like how long? - It's real to me. - Corey would realize in investigating that the hydra to make Snickers more manageable to eat would have ripped it at least in half and probably into multiple pieces and devoured it into manageable chunks as the rest of the hydra's heads were still attacking the party. - So he was just hungry because we had a whole dragon we could have given him.

- Merry Christmas everyone. - Corey's gonna have like both of her hands on the railing just looking down. She doesn't want to stop looking for Snickers. So even though she knows that he's not there and ripped apart, she's still gonna be like searching the waves. And then she's going to like just drop her head down and not looking at anyone sort of say, "You should go check on the passenger downstairs." That was quite a ruckus that we just went through. I'll keep watch on deck and she's just not gonna look or move. She's just gonna stay sort of statuesque.

- Can I stay on deck with her? - Yeah, absolutely can. - I'm gonna walk up behind her and like awkwardly but sweet like just put my arm around her and say it's okay and just lay it stand there and look at the water with her. - She's not gonna respond at all. - The storm itself is coming down just slightly. It's still pitch black and the only illumination is coming from the lanterns aboard the Alleanda. And the sea spray is just gonna be hitting Corey in the face as she looks out onto the ocean. As you start to make your way below deck, making your way below deck, it is much safer down here.

You're protected from the elements. There is some water that has made its way after it came spilling over the side. It did make its way down there but it's not flooded by any means. Making your way to the captain's quarters, you are going to hear movement. You're gonna see this paladin partially standing but it is obviously a labor for him and he's going to make eye contact with all of you. And I think that's a pretty good time for us to stop for the night. - Ah, so good. - Yeah. - He doesn't want to play with us anymore. He's like I'm gonna kill your pet and I'm gonna make it as gruesome as possible.

Like hey, not only is it dead, it was just mounded up in smaller pieces so it can be eaten. And then hey screw you guys, I'm going to bed. - Oh man. - I can already hear the sad music playing. - I feel like a cheat date. - All right, Twitter, here I come @Snickers. How do I phrase this so that it's not a spoiler? - I don't think you can. - @SnickersTheDrake. - Apparently Snickers can't swim. - Yeah, yeah that's good. - I know. - Oh no that is good. That is good but it's in character so it would have to be sort of sad. I just won't click @SnickersTheDrake and I'll say something about people being lost and then it'll wonder, it'll make people wonder who died.

- Yeah I don't think it's me probably. - Okay I do want to say that you guys did a phenomenal job tonight. That was a nasty fight. You guys completely held your own. It was, I think it's going to be great for the listeners. Susan I think you did great with the whole the whole Air Love thing outside the Overwatch. Fucking, oh man the ending there actually that was nasty with with Corey and just kind of reflecting. That's really fucking cool. Once I mean imagine what that's going to sound like with sound effects and music and oh. - At least give @Snickers a nice little sound something so that it will be remembered.

Because I think he's winning in the polls right now and I'm going to be really sad if he doesn't. Because he's dead. - Oh if anything he'll be a martyr. - Oh yeah. - Yeah it's like Tupac. - Yeah. - Okay so on a separate note I place us like way ahead of the other groups now. - Oh yeah. - Oh definitely. - You absolutely are. - But I don't know because I know group three recorded today if they had gone through a full day or not. You can just tell me later it's not that important. - Okay yeah I don't have to do the math I gotta make sure. Because there's two sessions that are that are in the can here.

- Right. - Actually I got a lot of sessions I gotta I gotta start publishing shit. - Get that break time man. - I gotta edit that shit first man. I got a group one session in the can another group three and now group two. - If you just if you're just releasing on Mondays you could do leisurely edits. - I gotta go eat dinner guys so I will see you guys. - I will see you guys later thank you so much for for sitting down and that was that was a blast. - That was fun. - You all hate me but it'll sound great later. - Yeah you can you can record folly of uh uh Jamie's chair for the the boat creaking.

- I actually I changed my chair. - That was mine that was mine. - The one time we actually needed that. - All right guys I'll see you soon. - Okay take care. - Bye. - Bye. - Bye.
