That's all for now, and on with the episode. [Music ends] [Grunting] Let's do that thing where we go around the table to introduce ourselves. I'm Jason, I'm the Dungeon Master. Going around the table, start with Alex. Hey, I'm Alex and I play Vraelon the Halfling Bard. And Valerie. Hi, I'm Valerie and I play Elena the Human Fighter. And Jamie. Hi, I'm Jamie, I play Tatiana the Human Rogue. And Ian. Hey, I'm Ian and I play Sub-Zero, Lin Kuei Ninja from Earthrealm in Mortal Kombat. [Laughter] Yes! [Laughter] I'm sorry guys, I've been- Do I have to follow that up?

I've been up since four, I'm a little punchy. I play Kaldin Halek, the Half-Elf Sorcerer. Dude, I've been up since 6am, let's fucking rock this. Let's do this. Last, and certainly not least, brand new mommy, Karen! Hi! I'm Karen, I play Kali the- Oh god, what do I play? Kali, she's a elf and a druid. Wow. [Laughter] I'm a little sleep-deprived, guys. We're there, we're all on the same page, it feels so good. This is gonna be a disaster, I love it. Okay. [Laughter] Now, for the listeners at home, it has been a little while since we got to pick up with group people.

We're gonna catch up with you guys in fine style starting tonight. So, let's pick up on the first of Yes-T, that evening. If you remember, you guys got jumped and some stuff happened, I would like to pick up directly after that. Now, I believe it was Tatyana who just kind of grabbed the leftovers and was heading out of that alley? Yes. I'm imagining the group is sticking together here? Mm-hmm. Would you guys like to talk about what just happened? Yeah, when we interrogated Colin, did he mention that he was looking for me and Colin specifically? Yeah, it was kind of related to the Black Hand.

Because we stick out, I think is what they said. Yes, and they've been kind of tracking you since Brightport. We didn't ever find out how they found us, did we? Yeah, no, we just know they were following us, I think is what he said. Good job on our part. Yeah, wow. Way to go. Way to go. You guys were real stealthy. Well, I mean, he shoots ice and I drink, so we're going to cause problems, I guess. How much do the rest of us know about your guys' past? Because I know we've talked a little bit before. That's a good question. I would think because we're in a group, I don't think we would hide anything from you guys.

As a matter of fact, I'm pretty sure Breland would tell you the whole story in vivid detail and lie about some stuff to make himself look cooler. Okay, so it's not exactly surprising that people came looking for you? No, we probably told you we double-crossed the Black Hand for sure. Oh, let's- Yeah, or we got someone- oh, sorry, go ahead. I'd like to back up for a second. So if you're being fully transparent about your past, are you telling Tatiana and Elena and Kali, are you telling them about the seal and gods and all this stuff? How big are you going with that?

I don't think Cauldin would go as far as talking about the seal. Not the seals, yeah. They wanted us to do work for them, and it didn't fit our moral compass at the time. So we would know that somebody was potentially coming after you? Yeah, I think it's definitely for sure that we've left Brightport because we were trying to get away from someone. And I think Cauldin probably, whatever other details that Breland said over that, Cauldin just shook his head, rubbed his temples or something, but he wouldn't stop him or anything like that. So killing people in an alley, surprising, not surprising?

Not surprising. Okay. I wasn't sure how I was supposed to feel about this. Not surprising. I think we would tell the group because we don't want you guys to get involved if you don't know that your life might be in danger, basically. So let's table the table talk and let's get right into character stuff. How would everyone be feeling after being assaulted in an alley? I think Breland would look to Cauldin and be like, "I think we're going to need some disguises if we're going to keep moving." Oh boy. That might be a good idea. I think we should get somewhere inside, maybe somewhere safe.

And then we can talk about this. Yeah, I need space to come up with some aliases. I've got some good ones. Oh, well you'll be going with... what was it? Rodrigo? Rodrigo's dead. Fuck Rodrigo. Got you. Alright. Remember that. I'm thinking more of an Enrique this time. Oh, Enrique. I like that. I was thinking... oh yeah, for Hermano, I think. Hermano. I like it. Yeah, Hermano. Yeah. He's going to give Cauldin the finger guns and says, "Alright, I'll start writing some stuff down." And then Cauldin will shake his hands off, shake the water or the blood or whatever gunk is on there.

That's a very important distinction between the two. And start following Tatiana to where she's going. Where would Tatiana be going? Tatiana would definitely be headed to her parents' house after hearing what they all heard. She just wants a hug from her dad. But she's not going to like rush away and leave the group. She's going to like just sort of like walk and maybe even like usher them with her arm. Like, come on, guys, it's this way. So Tatiana's folks, they live on kind of the outskirts of Fair Bay? Mm hmm. OK. I'd say it takes a little while, a little while to walk there, like 15, 20 minutes somewhere in there.

But you're going to approach a smaller house. Nothing crazy, not a manor or anything like that, but it looks cozy. It looks comfy. I imagine lots of plants growing outside, that type of thing, kind of a nice little garden tended something. Is Tatiana just kind of walk in or is it more of an approach the door knock situation? When's the last time Tatiana's been home? It has been a while because, well, obviously she was in prison, so. So it's been quite a bit. And usually when she's on the road, she writes a lot, but her parents haven't heard from her. Right.

Despite that, though, I think walking up to the property, she'd probably stop and like just soak it in. You know that feeling when you come home and you're just like, oh, this is the best. Nope. I take your word for it. Paula. I'm so depressed now. In theory, absolutely, yes. Just stand and look at this cozy little house and soak it in and then sort of a smile creeps on her face and she is just going to bust on through. And at that point, she'll probably when she stands there, she waits for the party to catch up. Oh, yeah. And we do. Oh, for sure. I do. Brandon's going to like rush to the front like, hey, your folks got enough room for all of us?

I hope so. I don't know if my brother's home, but worst case scenario, we can always like stay in the barn or something. I don't mind sleeping on the floor. I'm thankful that you let us into your home. I mean, I can maybe fit under a desk. Yeah, he's not very big. I don't take a lot of space. And I am a thin man. I might be able to snuggle up in a closet or something. I thought you were going to say snuggle up under the desk. I know that, too. That would work. Just spoon with Braylin. Absolutely. I would be honored to be able to spoon with Braylin. That's not much to spoon, buddy.

So walking into this place, it is a very lived in establishment, right? There's probably lots of books and lots of like not messy, but definitely it's not a pristine home. You don't walk in and then it's like, oh, there's a place for everything. Everything in its place. It's very... You could tell like, oh, someone was just sitting there or someone was just doing this or something like that. And it sounds like the kitchen's kind of... The kitchen area is a little busy. Like you can hear like cookware, things like that kind of banging around. And as Tatiana opens the door, a figure is going to kind of peek around the corner.

And that would be Daniel, which would be Tatiana's father. And there's going to be a moment of like, who's walking into our house and then just kind of light up, right? And almost run over to Tatiana and wrap his arms around her, kind of pick her up off the floor for just half a second. And just kind of... I'm so happy. (laughter) Tatiana, when she sees him, she's just going to yell out, "Papa!" and sort of drop her leftovers on the floor and squeeze him in return. Aw. Do you want ants? Because that's how you get ants. (laughter) Oh, God. And he's going to... there's going to be a momentary... like he's just so elated, right?

And then... Where have you been? I have to get your mother. One second. And he's kind of looking around. And then he starts going, "Sarah! Sarah!" And he's kind of like, kind of like frantically calling out like, "Oh, you won't believe this" type of thing. And then Tatiana's mom walks into the room. And she is going to do the exact same thing that Daniel did and kind of race over and... She's going to hug Tatiana like... Like she's afraid that Tatiana's going to slip away. Like that kind of a desperate, like, "Don't leave" type of hug. And pretty much just... almost the same thing.

Where have you been? Just kind of putting her hands on Tatiana's cheeks, just kind of squeezing her a bit. I did not put a lot of thought into this lie that I'm now going to have to tell. She's just going to return the hug and say, "Hi, Mom. I'm sorry that I haven't written." And sort of dodge the question. I... Okay. I would say after the initial like, "Oh my God, you're here. This is amazing." Then after a few seconds, Daniel's going to speak up. "It's been a little while. We... We started to get really worried. We thought the worst eventually. I'm just so happy that you're here." Tatiana is literally beaming, and then she's going to...

Not remember, but she's going to be like, "Oh, yeah, there's... My friends are here." And she's going to sort of like try to... Not shake it off, but she's going to try to look like the badass that she usually portrays. She'll be like, "Um, these are my friends. We came for the festival." Daniel is going to... He's a larger guy, right? Kind of almost Santa Claus-y type of personality. Just kind of big, kind of... And he's going to reach out a pretty large hand out to the first person who'd take it. That would be called, and he'll like... Well, I think he'd like step forward to do a bow.

But if he sees his hand, he'd like put his hand out, and then there's sort of like that awkward exchange where it's like, "Is this a handshake or a..." Oh, yeah, definitely. Definitely handshake right off the bat, and might even pull it into a little hug if... Oh, yes, please, yes. Again, big jolly dude. He is going to grab Cole in his hand, and you can kind of feel that it's... First of all, it's... It's very cold. Well, yes, your hand. But his is kind of calloused. Real working hands, that type of thing. And he will kind of pull it into like that bro hug type of thing.

Just... You can tell these are very, very kind, very kind folks. Daniel Stanton, it's a pleasure to meet you. Any friend of Tatiana's. Cauldron Halak, thank you for inviting us into your home. It must be nice to see your daughter after so long after her incarceration. You mother fucker! If you weren't going to do it, I was going to do it. I'm sorry, Jamie, I love you so much. She is going to stare daggers at Colton. Like almost like the, "We are going to talk about this." And he... Oh, they didn't... Nice to meet you, yes. I'm going to get partway through a sentence.

Son, are you all right? You're definitely... Sarah's going to speak up. Did you say incarceration? Um, no. And he's like looking at Tatiana the whole time to like try and read the situation. He's like, "Incarceration, no. I think I said her laceration, right? Yes, laceration, wound. Must have, at least when we met up with her, put her on her back for quite some time, I think is probably why she was not there. Just like looking at Tatiana the whole time. Do me a favor, roll a... Wow, okay. We know where this is going, right? Give me a deception check. While he's trying to explain himself, I'm going to nudge Elena and be like, "This is my favorite part.

Watch him. It's going to be like a fish on dry land. It's great." Thanks for the bone of God. Oh, that's an 11. Okay. As you're stammering and kind of hemming and hawing, Sarah is going to raise a hand. "No, I distinctly heard you say incarceration." And then she's going to look at Tatiana. "Sweetie, is everything okay? What happened?" It's not like you to just stop writing. So her relationship with her parents is one where she probably initially would not have brought it up in that she didn't want them to worry about her. It hasn't anything to do with her being ashamed or anything.

She just doesn't like her parents to worry. But she also can't really lie to them. So she probably would just sort of like, with an exasperated sigh, "I'm okay. I'm here now. Honestly, it was just a misunderstanding that happened in Brightport. But everything's okay. I promise." Daniel's going to speak up. And he's going to kind of lean in to Tatiana. "Tati, were these people in the pen with you?" No, no, they were not. I met them in Brightport and we came to Fair Bay together, but they were not in with me, no. If it wasn't for your daughter, though, we never would have gotten out of the city.

She was instrumental in helping us get here. She's been nothing but a great aide and a good friend on the road. Sarah's going to speak up. Oh, were you lost? Yeah, in a matter of speaking, yes. Lost. Yeah. Aren't we all lost? I doubt you're going to say something like that. It was Brightport, and the reputation of that town, I mean, to be lost in Brightport is, well, not many people come back from that alive. So thankfully, Tatiana, she was able to shepherd us out and here into your very cozy home. Well, I'm just glad that everyone's safe. I'm sorry, I'm having a really hard time wrapping my head around this.

What exactly were you arrested for? It's not like you to get in trouble. Like I said, it was just a misunderstanding with the Brightport. I don't want to say security, what did I mean? Guards? It was just a misunderstanding with the Brightport guards. I am fine now. I got out okay. And sort of in an effort to change the subject, she's going to say, by the way, I brought dinner, and she's going to grab her doggy bag. Daniel's going to reach for it and kind of wrap an arm around Sarah like, okay, let's not scare her off. Let's not pry. It's obviously, she's safe, that type of thing.

It says a lot with just one, you know, one kind of embrace. And he will grab the, he'll grab the food. Well, this is, I take it you've eaten already, but there's some pie in the kitchen if any of you'd like dessert. Brelin will run forward. Thank you very much. Much appreciated. I'd love some pie. And just kind of march his way past. And he's gonna, he's gonna step toward the front door to kind of close it. Yeah, please, please, everyone come in. And he's going to grab both of Kaladin's shoulders and sort of rub up and down to just try and circulate the blood, kind of warm him up a little bit.

Oh, my. That's gross. It's neighborly. It's neighborly. It's not, it's not gross, Elena. It's not sexual. Yeah. Though I am getting a little bit of a boner, I will admit, but I don't say that, I don't say that out loud. Kaladin likes dragons, not bipedal creatures, so let's get our cannon right. I got half an icicle. Okay, that put water up my nose. Sorry. Yeah, half an icicle will put water up your nose, Joss. Oh, jeez. They had sickle fire today. Oh, boy. I'm so sorry. I apologize, everyone. Don't call Mr. Hart. What are you talking about? Kaladin will, he'll just sort of like, like go along with it and like, oh, yes, maybe, maybe I'll just stand by the fire in the, in the kitchen.

Perhaps we all should. I think, I think we all need to have a little chat about tonight's events. You are very neighborly, sir. Thank you so much. Of course. I can't have you catching your death of cold here. It's, it's the least I could do. Come on. And he's going to, actually, again, big strong arm and just kind of almost sweeping you up into the kitchen. Yeah, he probably does too, because Kaladin's pretty slight. Just like, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. And he's going to, he's going to kind of talk to, he's going to talk to Alina as, as they're going into the kitchen.

You're kind of quiet. You don't speak very much, do you? Alina will say, oh, well, I didn't want to interrupt the reunion and she's, she's sort of just slightly leaning away from him because like that was weird. Like you don't just touch someone, you know? Yeah, I didn't, you know, you guys were having a moment and I didn't really want to do anything to sour that. I'm Alina, by the way. And he'll, he'll hold out his hand. Daniel. She'll like be sort of hesitant, but she will shake it. Yeah. And he can, I, I'd like to think that they could, he could see that you're, you're kind of not comfortable with things.

So it'd probably just be a handshake. He wouldn't pull you in. Oh, God, thank goodness. So in the kitchen, there's, there's a lovely apple pie go in. There's, it's, it's, it's still warm. It's like, ah, it's, it's probably by now. Raylan's been in there for a while. Not leaving any pie for us. I mean, I'll leave you some. He would shop back with like an awful, "Carly, you gotta try this. This is delicious." Does he do that cartoon thing where he like cuts a slice of pie? Like it looks like he's going to take a piece and then he just takes the whole, ripped the whole?

I would think so. He'd be like, he'd cut it right in half and be like, "Okay, this is my half." Has anyone ever wondered what it'd be like if Garfield were an adventurer? Less orange, less fur. Like he would like, he has to kind of reach over. I'm assuming the counter's like human top, human-sized counter, so it's kind of like, it's up to his nose probably, so he has to reach over like, "Oh, God." If Sarah saw you struggling with it, I imagine she'd step in and try to help. Oh, no, no, no, no, miss, it's fine. I can do it myself. I got, I'm a grown man.

I can, I can get up there and just kind of stretch his more. So you said you had things to talk about. Yeah, I think if we're all in the kitchen and our Sarah and Daniel, thank you. I was going to say Derek and I was like, that's not it. Sarah and Daniel, are they in the kitchen as well? They'd probably follow you in. They're probably just happy to see Tatiana. Oh, okay, okay. But if you guys had something to talk about and you told them that, they'd give you all the privacy you needed. Yeah, so, so, Cauldron will probably like come up to Tatiana and just sort of like, like, while this fiasco is going on with the pie, just sort of like, like kind of come up to her and just sort of like talk very softly and be like, Tatiana, we all need to have a little chat, I think, away from your parents whenever is good.

And if I'm not incorrect, it almost looked like you recognized one of the people that they said were in charge of the fang. Is that true? Yeah, so Tatiana, being that her parents are still in the room, is going to have this very sweet smile on her face and sort of respond through her teeth and be like, yes, we do need to talk, Cauldron. I'll ask my parents so we can have some privacy. Great, thank you so much. That's, that's exactly what we need. I'm afraid that the situation that we're in, I wouldn't want them to hear, especially, especially in this, in this charming tableau and he like gestures over as there's like pie being flung over and like, like Elena leaning away from it all.

So she'll sort of nod and she'll ask her parents. We were wondering if it might be possible for us to stay here for the night, but I'm not, I wasn't sure if anybody was home. We can stay in the barn if that's OK. Sarah would speak up. Of course you're staying the night. That's, I didn't know that was up for debate. She'll sort of shrug like, yeah, I mean, I knew too, but I just wanted to be polite. And then she'll ask, would it be OK if we had a couple of minutes? We just have to talk about the plan for where we're going next. Oh, of course, of course. Enjoy all the pie you want and take Daniel and we'll go in the next room, please.

And it's almost like, oh, of course, yeah, yeah, like that type of reaction. And she'd she'd grabbed Daniel by the hand. Daniel didn't get a slice of pie. Oh, and it's one of those it's one of those she's grabbing them by the hand. He's like, but pie and just kind of leading him into the next room. Before they leave, she's just going to sort of like run up and hug both of them, be like, I missed you guys. Oh, they squeeze the shit out of her. Yeah. And then they go in the next room. Yeah. And her warm smile turns into a face of aggravation. So now that we have a moment alone.

I just want to say that. I'm sorry that you all got dragged into this. With the the fang and the black hand, I thought that I thought that if Tatiana got Braylin and I out of Brightport, that we would maybe escape her influence or her interest. But that was clearly foolish. And it seems yeah, it seems she's she's willing to go to lengths as far as hiring outside sources and tracking us down. Even if they're not that great. But I was going to say he's going to have the pie in his hand. He's going to like just like take a seat closer. But what that does mean is that the black hand is still after us, which means you've gotten wrapped up in this.

She can. She knows everything. She is truly frightening. The few the one the one time that we had interactions with her, she. She knew everything about us. She knew where we were from. She knew who we were. And most importantly, she knew what was important to us. And he's going to like when he says that he like looks towards the other room where Daniel and Sarah are. And she will not hesitate to use that against all of us, against you or turn you against us to get her goal. Sort of catching that side eye that called and makes to the other room with Tatiana's parents, she's going to sort of like follow his gaze and then connect the dots and be like, OK, so what do we do?

We've got to stop her. Well, I don't I don't know if she can be stopped. I think. Well, there's I mean, there's a lot of things we can do, the two options that are clear to me, at least. Are we can try to move forward and lose this pursuit in the silver glade. If there's anyone that comes after us, maybe they'll be dissuaded from following or if they come in, maybe they'll have to contend with the dangers of that forest on their own. When you said you're going to chase into this little glade, Brelin's going to look side eye at him. Really? We got to go.

We got to go there now? Well, Brelin makes a good point. That doesn't leave us a lot of options. We don't have a lot of ways to escape and we won't have enough time. Three to four days is is the jump that we have on this. We won't have enough time to prepare to go into there. So there is something else we can do. We've got to lead. They said this Fang was going to meet up very soon in three to four days. Now, clearly they weren't expecting Brelin or I to be alive or not be captured. So we might have the element of surprise on our side and we might be able to use that to persuade them with words or weapons to stop pursuing us.

We might even be able to get some information on the Black Hand, though I don't know how actionable that'll be. Even if we take care of this, what's to stop another group from coming after you guys? Us now? Well, I mean, it's kind of the fate we chose when we decided to betray them. But we learned some tricks. May be able to help us out by us more time. For example, disguises might work on some of the sea level gangsters they're sending out after us. But it's not going to work on Black Hand if she decides to personally pursue us. Is it mendable, your relationship with the Black Hand?

Like, can't we just go and take a job and then everything's hunky dory again? Brelin's gonna look at Keldon. "Uh, hi." He's gonna shrug. "I don't think so?" "Not to be crass, but we fucked her over pretty good." What's a good berry and swear? Yeah, dang. It's weird to hear Keldon talk like that. I can think of it a good one off the cuff. I feel like that's the kind of situation where he would resort to dropping the F bomb for sure. Probably. Yeah, it's the Black Hand. We saw what she did, or what she's capable of. Well, what did you do to her? We got in the way of a very important deal that made her look very, very bad.

She lost a lot of face and... I don't know. I thought that we could get away from that. She either can't leave Brightport or won't leave Brightport. Not that it matters much, but she seems to still feel vexed about it. And he's gonna look at Brelin and be like, "We should let Dagon know and Erolove." Yeah, Brelin's gonna... His eyes are gonna go like, "Well, yeah, wait a minute. If they're after us, then the others are definitely in trouble." If we decide to try and use this advantage, I do have some thoughts on it. I mean, I'll tell you from my experience that it doesn't feel like it's an advantage.

I know Ripley, and he is not going to listen to reason. And she looks really annoyed. Ripley, that was the name. What can you tell us about it? How do you recognize it? She'll sort of put her hands in her face and just, with a very large, exasperated sigh... Much like the relationship you have with the Black Hand, Ripley fucked me over. Well, let me ask you this. Brelin's gonna put the pie tray on the table nearby, because it's empty now. Does Ripley have access to demons? She'll sort of look at Brelin like, "Um, no. And that's a stupid fucking question." And she's not wrong.

She's not wrong. Brelin's gonna fix his collar a little bit. Well, let me tell you about the Black Hand. She does. Not one or two. I believe there were four? He looks like Cauldron, for reassurance. It seems like Legion. Yeah. These guys... Man, they really did a number on us. On me. He's gonna kind of lift up his shirt. And I'm assuming, Jason, if this is cool, he still has those scars from those chains that pulled me across the boat four fucking times. Oh yeah. Okay. He's gonna show these scars. Yeah. See these scars? They're not from normal chains. No. Because normal chain scars would heal pretty nicely.

These are from, like, Hellfire chains. Now, regardless of how dangerous Ripley may be, or what kind of deal you fucked over for him, I think it's a safe bet to say we should pursue him as opposed to trying to talk to the Black Hand or make any kind of deal with him. Because the kind of power she can wield, whether it be words or actual men, I'm sure it's a hundred times worse than what Ripley can do. And Cauldron will just nod solemnly, like, "Yep." This Ripley, he would recognize you? He's gonna roll her eyes like that is the... Oh yeah, he would recognize me.

And at Braelyn, she's gonna roll her eyes like that is the dumbest thing she's ever heard. Like, "Yeah, okay, then. Whatever you say." Well, if you don't believe in the demons, and I admit that that's a hard thing to do, then know that this isn't going to stop. And once they realize that their group didn't come back, they're gonna keep coming after us. If you don't mind my asking, how did this fucking over go down with Ripley? He's the reason I was in prison. He's the reason I got caught. I see. We can try, but he is a slippery fucker. Does he have any...

Do you know of any connections that he has in Brightport or to the Blackhand? Mmm... Can I roll for that, Jason? Because I don't... I would assume that she would, because they worked together for so long. So had he worked with the Blackhand before? No. That's... Like, okay, if you're talking about pay grade, that's like you shooting hoops in your driveway and then the NBA just picking you up. Sounds like a great movie. Well, yeah, what's that football? Philadelphia field goal kicking garbage man movie? I believe it's the garbage picking field goal kicking Philadelphia phenomenon.

Starring Tony Danza. Tony Danza, thank you. Why do I know that? Why is... I don't remember people's names, but I remember that. So yeah, I guess she would relay... I mean, I'm kind of surprised to hear that Ripley would be working with the Blackhand, but I have been away for a while, so things change, I guess. Well, like I said, we might be able to put it to an end, at least with this group. We can persuade them to give up the chase, as it were, either with our words or our weapons, and you might be able to get one over on him. Yeah, two birds, one stone.

And besides, those chumps in the alleyway, they weren't that bad, right? I mean, maybe we're getting a little rusty, but I feel like we could have taken them a little faster. Which we didn't have to kill, by the way. Oh, absolutely we did not, but guys start yelling stuff at you, swords start flying. I can't be held responsible for my actions. And unfortunately, dead men tell no tales. I didn't want to get you involved. I didn't want this pursuit to happen. I didn't want you or anything you care about to be threatened. Now it has, and I think we should do something about it.

It would certainly make going to the Silverglade difficult to have this continually hounding us. Yeah, I mean, for all the troubles and the scary stuff that's in there, can you imagine being chased by even more scary stuff? And Elena, I am sorry. It was not my intent. My apologies to the both of you, to all three of you, getting you involved. Let me ask you a question. How would Callie and Elena be feeling about this? Because I imagine, even if you guys were talking for the couple of weeks you've been together, this is a lot. This is a lot to kind of be dumped on your lap.

To kind of find out that you might be in mortal danger. I think Elena's been so sort of sheltered that she doesn't necessarily know that this is odd. She's sort of just going with it. Like, okay, this is real life. I guess this is what happens in real life. People are trying to kill you. Callie's been super quiet this whole time, kind of just watching the three of you. She knew that there was a possibility that people were going to catch up with the group. But it's happened really quickly and just kind of feels kind of a little cornered into doing something about it now.

Can I ask a question? How would Callie and Elena take the demon news? Because I don't want to be the only one who's like, "You fucking idiot." I think Elena, not to give away too much, but she's sort of done a lot of her own research on the outside world. And it's almost sort of the same thing as, "Oh, people are out to get you. That's life." She's almost exasperated. She feels like there's all of these things that she's not known her whole life. And this is just another one on top of what she's already learned. Like, "Guess demons are real. That's another thing." It's not surprising per se.

She's just trying to go with it all. She's just trying to keep up. Yeah, keep up Elena. Keep up. I mean, Callie's done a lot of research too, but mostly it's been like demons have been talked about kind of as fairy tales from what she's read. So it's just kind of one of those things like, "Mmm, okay." I can assure you they are anything but fairy tales. Quite the opposite, in fact. They're demons. That would be the... The dictionary definition opposite. Do I have to show you guys my scars again? Like, this is not fake. Here's the thing. In the world of Theria, there is such a thing as healing.

Now, deep scars like that are something that if you were to receive healing from a cleric, paladin, something like that, they would heal over and there would be scars. So it doesn't... It isn't the only explanation is that they're supernatural. They're nasty scars. It's definitely not trivial, but it is something that could be explained away. It's like, "Yeah, a bandit could have got a hold of you." Or, "You could have been tortured." Or something, you know, definitely something bad happened, but it's not necessarily definitive proof that demons are real.

Here they are. Ain't no bandit touching this body. I'll tell you that right now. Well, Brelyn, actually, I had some thoughts on that. Speaking of bandits touching bodies. Really? Do tell me. Not in that way, Valerie. Get your mind out of the gutter. No, I'm just confused. Not like a booty bandit. Like I said, we've got a lead. At least three or four days. Something like that. Now we could run. Or we could try and use that. We could try and pull a ruse on them. They're expecting Brelyn and I to show up there. Maybe we bring them, Brelyn and I. I like this. I like where this is going.

He's going to look at the group. We dressed those three up. Yeah? Say that maybe they're some sort of splinter group and they bring us in? Mm-hmm. The old bugbear prisoner trick. Yeah, I know that one. I read about it. And then he's going to look in his journal. I've never heard about that one. Start writing it down. I'll tell you. The old bugbear prisoner trick. I should tell you guys. I'm not exactly the best at lying. Well, if I make a good enough disguise, you might not have to lie. You could just be one of the strong silent types in the back, maybe. I don't know if any disguise is going to keep Ripley from not knowing who I am.

Well, you could be sort of watching it all, making sure if anything goes wrong that we have some backup, something, a safeguard. I mean, we know you can shoot a bow. Brelyn's going to say that, but he's going to look at the ground upset about it. She'll definitely smirk at that. Okay. I mean, I guess if it's our only option, that's what we're going to have to do. Excellent. Then, yes, we could say Elena and Tatiana could pose as people that met these ruffians here in Fair Bay. They got to bragging and wanted to join this fang. They met Brelyn and I, and we ended up taking a few of them out.

Here they are with prisoners as a gift to ingratiate themselves, to get them into the fang, to get them to see the higher ups. There's Trent and Krista and Brock and Ripley. And then, I don't know, I guess we can wing it from there. If we get out in front of them, then maybe we can subdue them and get them for information. At the very least, we can tell them to stop chasing us, find out what they know about the Black Hand. I agree. I mean, it's definitely an adventure. And she has sort of a grimace smile on her face. Well, that's the endorsement we need.

No, Calli's just going to say we're going to have to take care of it no matter what, so she's not very happy. Are you okay with this? It's just we don't know what we're actually doing until we get there, and that doesn't sit well with me. You're right. There's unease in the unknown. We might need to... I don't know how many of them are there. I don't know if there's holding cells or anything. There's all kinds of number of things. We might need to improvise a little. But if they're anything like the fools we met in the alley, I'm not afraid. I am afraid of the Black Hand, though.

Okay. If we show her that this is futile, she'll give it up. Maybe we can get some information on her. Maybe we'll find something we can use. Who knows? Brandon's going to look at Calvin. You and I both know she's not going to stop, man. Well, then we'll make that our goal. We'll try and find out what they know about her. I mean, trying to get one over on her, I don't know if it's even possible. She brokers in information, but if we can get one thing she doesn't know, doesn't see coming... We can use that as some strong ammunition. Yeah. Good plan. Hmm. That was kind of impressive, Calvin.

I always feel like I should start calling you the captain. We only have one captain. And he's being a captain for other people right now. Yeah. We should send the old gang some messages, huh? Yeah. I'll get on that. And then Brandon's going to hop off of whatever he was sitting on. Are we in the kitchen, or are we in some sort of small quarters or something? Kitchen, yeah. He's going to step out of the kitchen and go find a writing table or some sort of desk he'll start writing on. Before he leaves, Tatiana's just going to be like, "Just before you go, my parents do not know what I do for a living.

And I would prefer that they not hear about what happened last night." And she's going to dart her eyes over to Calvin. Right. Got you. Oh. Got it. Sorry. Sorry about that one. That one's on me. Yep. Okay. No problem. I'll say, I don't know, you're more like a tour guide for us. We hired you as a tour guide. That's a good idea. Alright. You got it. Finger guns, and he walks out. And then, Calvin will go up to Tatiana and just look at her in the face and say... I like that you specify. Right in the boobs. And... no. Look at her in the face and give her a big smooch. He'll look at her in the face and say, "Again, I'm sorry Tatiana.

I'll watch what I say next time. You have a really wonderful family and thank you for everything. Thank you for getting us out of the city and for bringing us into your home." Initially, she's gonna have like a look like she had smelled something sour. Like, ugh. And then as he's talking, she's gonna sort of soften and be like, "Ugh, it's fine." They were gonna find out eventually. I mean, they just seem to be so glad to have you back. I've been away from family for a long time and that was nice to see. And then, yeah, he's gonna go outside. Unless anyone else has anything they'd like to do.

Let me clarify the battle plan here. It sounds like you guys are gonna be hitting the road and heading north? Yeah. Yeah. I think so, yeah. But staying the night. How long is it gonna take to make one disguise? How long does one disguise take to make? Because I gotta make three. And we don't have any Actuaronis here. We do not have Actuaronis here, but because of... Tatiana, can we borrow some of your hair? Right bread. 5E gives me the diversity of gear. And I believe, as a bard, I have... A disguise kit? Yeah, I think I have one of those. Never mind, I lied. Oh, I do, as an entertainer.

That's what I do. That's my background. Yeah, I know we changed the rules for disguises, so hold on a sec. Fuck. Not crazy, but I think... Oh boy, there's very specific rules for rogues and disguises. And it's... holy lord, hold on a sec. I'm not making her one, because she's gonna be our Hawkeye. I guess essentially, are we headed to Lockford? I need a little clarification. That's what we were supposed to be doing, right? Yeah, that's my impression, that we're going there. So the first plan was to go there and track these guys down, but now we're gonna go there, track them down, but we're gonna be under a new, like a roost, basically.

Okay, so they're not in Whitehedge. They're between Lockford and Fair Bay. I think so. For some reason I thought they were in Whitehedge. Karen, didn't you say earlier that you said they're gonna meet someone in Whitehedge? Or was it Jamie? So what I have in my notes is that the Fang is expected to meet with Brock, Kristin, Trent, and Ripley, three to four days on the way to Lockford, and then they were gonna meet with the Hand in Whitehedge. Oh, okay. Stay away from Whitehedge is what the real thing should say. Okay, well, hmm, okay. Lockford it is. Oh boy, okay.

I didn't know she was coming down. Or probably like, agents of the Hand. Yeah, like her, or something. That's true. I don't want to be anywhere near the agents either. They're not made. No. They probably have hooks. I don't know why, but in my brain I immediately went to like Agent Smith from the Matrix, and I just pictured all these Agent Smiths in Whitehedge. Mr. Gobuck! Oh god. I don't know, I watched Men in Black the other day and all I can think of is Michael Jackson, "I could be Agent M!" Wait, what? Michael Jackson was in The Matrix? No, he was in Men in Black.

Oh, that's what I meant to say. He was in Men in Black? Yeah, for like five seconds. Like a cameo. Wow, I did not know that. I think it was Men in Black 2. But that's the one my uncle worked on. That doesn't make it better. And then Humblebrag. I do want to do one thing before we leave, though. I'm already staying the night, because I've got wounds. Yeah, you guys are... We should probably just do the resting. It's probably easier. I got songs. I had a quick question, Jason. Remember at the fair, the Fair Bay Fair, I had grabbed two little like toys? I never asked what they were.

Does it matter? From the fa... would they be like... Little Choshki things? Yeah, like little... like... so... okay. I don't know if you... Have you guys ever gone to like a crappy... like a little county fair type thing? There's actually one happening in my town tonight. Right. So they sell all kinds of stuff. So I would imagine, like in theory, it'd be all kinds of little like baubles, like balls and things like that. Very simple games for kids or like wooden swords, you know, that type of thing. Goldfish. Goldfish. Goldfish in a bag. Those little bitty turtles.

Well, before the party goes to bed, Tatiana is going to sneak into her sibling's room and put them... put the little toys in... Aww. And then go to bed. Little Chachkies. So they would have... while you guys were speaking in the kitchen, they would have made room for you in kind of the living room area. So everyone's kind of got their room going and stuff like that. They would... they would... They would kind of pull stuff out and there'd be blankets and stuff. They try to make it as cozy as possible. There isn't an insane amount of room, right? But they try to... they try to make it cozy.

They would pull out like a little drawer or something for Braylin and then it'd... There'd be like a couch type of thing and they try to make as much room as possible for you guys. Braylin and Kalden do spoon. That's canon. Yep. Back. Back. Actually, I don't know if Braylin would rest because he has to make... he has to start on the disguises. That's the thing. Oh, yeah. I want to do something too. Oh, sorry. Go ahead. Oh, go ahead. Go ahead. Go ahead. On the other side, I would like to try and find a mouse. Kay... I'm getting weird. Are you gonna eat it? Or like make like a potion?

Umm... no, but close. It's for the sacrifice. Kind of. Is he gonna freeze it? We'll see. A mouse equals? Do you... do I need to roll for that or do you want me to... Yeah, give me a nature check. Okay. You know what? I... you can do animal handling, but it's not really an... you're looking for a mouse more than trying to talk it down. So give me... give me a little nature. Okay. Well, that did not... And if it's 12 or higher, then... yep. Okay. You're gonna... you're gonna find a mouse. It's a... Look. It's a little farmhouse type of thing. So you're probably... it wouldn't take... wouldn't take a lot of effort.

You'd probably find one near the barn. Something like that. Okay. So that's perfect. Yeah. Like, Cauldin goes out to the barn knowing that there's probably gonna be little mice out there. He goes and like sees one nibbling on some hay and he chases it down and catches it in his hand and it's like... It's like the cutest little grey little mouse with its little pink little pad feet and it's like squeaking, got its little whiskers. And its little... little cute little nose and cute little beady eyes. And Cauldin is going to spend some time during the night focusing his magic on this mouse.

Cauldin can freeze water and so what he's going to try and do... what he's going to try and start is freezing the water in a living creature. And he's gonna try and like teach himself. Now this isn't magic that Cauldin knows. It's not something that he... it's not something that's familiar so he's going to start on the road of like trying to figure out how to do this fatally too. Like he is going to try and... try and kill this mouse. Oh my. I thought you were doing like some Frozen animation shit. The more I learn about Cauldin, the darker the shit gets.

Holy lord. Wow. Okay. You have to describe how cute it was before you said that. Yeah, of course. He did it on purpose. He did it on purpose. I could feel that one coming. Okay, so while you got... okay. So you're settling in for the night. Cauldin, do me a favor, give me an Arcana check. Oh my. So this... this... this cute little... this cute little mouse, let's call it Oscar, is going to... Oh don't give it a name. No, no, no. If you don't get to chastise me, cute pink little pads, don't you dare. So, it being like a little barn mouse is going to try to get out of Cauldin's hands and his thin, almost wiry hands are going to wrap around this mouse and you can feel its little pink nose just kind of like pat against his palms.

And Cauldin is going to channel his magic, not just trying to freeze it, but trying to freeze it from the inside. Think like a reverse microwave. So this mouse is going to go rigid and eventually it's... the moisture inside, it's going to crystallize and it's going to cease its movement and then just sort of fall over in Cauldin's hands. You are so lucky I'm not there. Oh yeah, we have a Druid now, we gotta be careful with nature, I'm not sure about that. I'm sorry Oscar. Yeah, and that's all. I imagine too, he's really tired afterwards, even though they just got out of battle, this is a different type of freezing and it takes its toll.

Uh, Braelen? Yeah? Here's what I'd like you to do. Are you proficient with the kit? Let me check my proficiency. That would be under abilities, I believe. I believe. I am proficient with the disguise kit, yes. Here's what I'd like you to do. I'd like you to give me two rolls. Okay. One... now to understand you're disguising, you're trying to make a disguise for yourself and Cauldin. No, no, no, no. For Elena and Callie. Oh. Because we're doing the prisoner ruse. Oh, yes, sorry. Wait, but why do we need... they don't know us. Well, because if anyone from the Hand finds out who you are, they're going to come after your family and stuff.

I think we're trying to minimize that as much as we can. That makes sense. But isn't that more suspicious? Like, oh, everyone's wearing a disguise. No, no, no, it's just you and Callie. Just you and Callie. I'm trying to make you guys look more villainous, scumbaggy. So mustaches. Mustaches, yeah, all around. Five mustaches. Five mustaches. Big Bandito mustaches. So here's what I'd like you to do. I'd like you to roll an intelligence check. So your regular intelligence check with a plus two. Oh, thank god. For... let's do Elena first and then Callie. I hope that's really bad.

And we're going to see how good these disguises are. So Elena first. I require a fedora. Oops, sorry, Elena. So this isn't a great disguise. Yeah, this is not a great disguise. So I imagine like... I imagine you trying to make a wig for Elena, but it's kind of lopsided and poofy on one side. So the hair kind of swoops out and it's just... there's something kind of funky about it. Like maybe Elena was balding and trying to cover it up with a cheap wig or something like that. It just kind of sticks out a bit. It's not amazing. Okay, well I only get better, hopefully.

Yeah, you're going to nail it with Callie's though. Okay, ready? Oops, worse. Oh my god. Dang it. I must be paying for some kind of sins or something because this is some serious low rolls. Are you the one that killed the mouse? That was a four and a three for those playing along at home. Back to back. Wow, okay. So, okay. Imagine if you were making a disguise for someone nowadays, but you're like, okay, I got the perfect thing. We're going to feather your hair and give you some big ass Jackie O sunglasses and some bell bottoms. You're going to blend right in.

What? That's going to stick out more than anything. That's what you've just done. You've created two disguises. Maybe, here you go, maybe Braylon doesn't know women's fashion. So maybe it's just a thing where it's like, yeah, we're going to give you some... What you did was, okay, so we're going to give Elena some boob armor, something like that. Oh good. Chain mail bikini. Yeah, like Callie's wearing a leopard print fucking tunic or something. Isn't she like 12? It becomes very apparent to Braylon that he needs to start researching women's fashion immediately.

He finishes the second one, he's like, "Ah, I fucked up." I picture him sewing all night and then it's like, "Ah, shit. Ah, shit." And these take hours to complete. This is him slaving for like five, six hours. The sun's rising. The sun is just cresting up. It's like, "All right, okay, all this hard work is going to be worth it." And then you hold it up, it's like, "Huh." I love all of this so much. I'm going to fold their disguises neatly next to them as I sleep and just fall down. They'll look better in the morning. It's just your eyes. They'll look better in daylight.

So yeah, Braylon's going to catch a few hours of sleep, nothing much. You're going to be pretty sleepy the next day. Yep, some real life. That's fine. Oh my God. That's so good. So after you're done butchering small animals and sewing ugly outfits... Let's see if we can join the circus. You guys are going to hit the road? Get an early start? I've got to find a place to deliver the notes to Aviary or something. Aviary? Oh, we could maybe leave them with Daniel and Sarah to post. Oh, yeah. That's a possibility. Yeah, that'd probably be better. I'll ask them if they can deliver the notes or send them to Aviary or something to get them to my friends.

Yeah. Is Tatiana saying goodbye or would it be easier to slip out? She would definitely say goodbye. Okay, well, okay. Well, they would probably be up pretty damn early. So it is now the second of ESD, everyone. So would Tatiana just approach them? It's like, okay, we're getting back on the road. Goodbye. That type of thing? Um, sort of. She would probably go up to them, wherever they were, and be like, Hey, we actually have to get on the road. Daniel? I think he would try to hide it, but I think you'd be just like you could see the disappointment on his face.

Oh. You're leaving already? No. This hurts a lot for her, too, because she hasn't seen them in so long. But the way things have just unfolded, you know, you've got to do what you got to do. And she'll sort of like look down towards the ground and maybe even like kick the floor. Like, yeah, we're kind of on a time crunch to get where we need to go. Oh, um, of course, we don't want to stand in your way. It's just... Well, we just got you back and... And you could tell he's kind of... He's trying to be a little softer with it? Sarah's going to speak up. Just don't go getting into trouble again, okay?

You're going to visit very soon, right? Tatiana will sort of smirk and look up at her mom and just say, I'm going to try. I don't know if I'll be able to write. She's going to step, step really close to Tatiana and kind of grab her hands up. No, you're not going to try. You are going to visit us very soon. As soon as you can. You're going to stay for at least a week, okay? Like heartbroken, she'll squeeze her mom's hands and say, okay, as soon as I can, as soon as I have time, I promise. You know there's always room for you and your friends, okay? And just try to take care of yourself.

I will. And she'll sort of like pull her mom's hands in and give her a hug. Oh, yeah, she'll hug. And then I think Daniel would kind of loom over and kind of hug the both of you. And sort of like while they're in this hug, she'll say, give everyone hugs and kisses for me, okay? Oh, of course. I'll put some bread in your bag. What? What's that bread? My mom makes the best rolls. What? Oh. Oh. Daniel's going to kind of mumble under his breath. Yeah, she makes the best pie too. I'm sorry, what was that? I can't hear. You're too high up there. I don't know what you said.

I like pie. Colton will sort of like put his hand on Brelin and I guess like hand him the letters and be like, if you wouldn't mind posting these. I can make a trip into town a little later today. I'll take care of it. This one is going to Brightport and this one is going to Onacol and for your trouble and he'll like give, I don't know, like whatever money it is for. Whatever it is. Is it like I was thinking like silver or something, but is it like a gold piece or? Well, okay. Is it urgent? Is it like get it there quickly? Yes. Then yeah, you're probably you're probably talking like three for gold for both of them.

I do that. Yeah. How much gold do I need? Where even is gold? Inventory. Oh, okay. Yeah. Oh good. Yeah. I've got the gold. Phew. So I'll take that. I'll take four gold away from you. Bring you down to 11 for those of you keeping score. Wow. Holy crap. This is like that's essentially it's like going to UPS and like shipping something cross, you know, cross country overnight. Like they butcher you on the yeah. And this is the economy. Yeah. Well, I mean, it's it's it's a big free market thing, man. Plus to own a call. Why man, they're just reopening trade routes to own a call.

Like that's gonna yeah. That is where the Aladrin are, right? Yep. Okay. Okay. Cool. I'm just waiting. Show it to the desert. I thought this whole time they went back to Odysseus, but they went to own a call. Oh, you don't go you don't want to go to Odysseus. There's a big boy. Oh, the bigger the bigger dragon. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. I remember now. It's a girl actually. The bigger girl dragon. Big girl. Yep. The queen dragon. Mama dragon. I'm sure we'll get to that. Don't worry. Oh, good. You guys got your own problems right now. Where would all this be taking place, Jason? Like, is it in the house?

Is it outside the house? Oh, I'd imagine this is in the house still. Okay. Just because as like one last thing and I promise it's the last thing. It is like if at any point during like the whole morning, but while they're like getting ready to go, Tatiana is going to sort of take her coin purse and like not hide it. Maybe put it she's going to put it in the pie, the empty pie canister and just leave it there. Oh, the whole thing? The whole thing. All right. So for those of you keeping score at home, that was thirty six gold pieces. Yeah. Counting Tatiana's winnings and everything like that.

That was fine. That's what she does this for. She adventures and is a thief so that she can send money home. Aww. That's... Jamie's done! Oh, boy. We're going to get to some stuff later because Ripley cost her some money. That fucker. Anyway. So you guys are getting on the road? Mm hmm. Yeah. Do you know what that means? Someone's got to roll an e. You know what that means? Elena! Me? Elena, do me a favor. Roll a flat d20 to see how your adventure north begins. Now I have before we do this, I have a question. Like are me and Callie like wearing the disguises now? Oh, yeah.

We have like we've got like three to four days, right? We've got some time to travel, I imagine. Okay, so we haven't even seen them yet. Yeah, I guess that's perfect. I hid them. I have them at pack. I was about to say, this doesn't sound like something Braylin would be crazy proud of. So, yeah. Maybe he can work on them while we're walking. Uh, I guess. Am I allowed? Once they're okay, I would say you're basically conjuring them from nothing, right? So you could polish a turd. But it's still a turd. Okay. Yeah, maybe it's like made out of stuff that was around the house or like refuge or stuff that you don't have access to anymore.

Here's the thing. Work, okay, as a disguise, they'll look different. Like a scarecrow or a bad mannequin. They'll look different, which is what you're aiming for. They just won't look good. It's gonna look like, they're gonna look like characters from the Super Mario live action movie is what you're telling me. Oh my god. Trust the fungus. Oh my god. I let, never mind. We can get into that later. Okay. We're on the run. But we're putting off this role, Alina. Okay, we ready? Yeah, yeah. Oh, so ready. Okay. Oh, at least it wasn't a one. Lucky number seven, everybody.

Lucky number seven. So getting back on the road here, you guys are heading north. Now that is from Fair Bay and the next town that you're going to be running into would be Lockford. This is going to be fun. Okay. So for the first day and a half, I'd say you guys are having a fairly pleasant journey. It's kind of cloudy. Every once in a while there'd be light showers for like, you know, 10, 15 minutes, something like that. Nothing crazy though. Just enough to kind of wet you down. And it's kind of like, ugh, like you kind of got that chafey bit thing. But like, nothing bad.

You guys are adventurers. You've dealt with way worse. So first day is down. You are into the third of Yesd. And a funny thing is going to happen at around like 1.30, something like that. 1.30 p.m. on the third. Up ahead, you guys are going to see a little carriage, a little wagon stuck in the mud. Kind of on the side of the road. It looked like this person's cart had kind of slipped off the side of the road a little bit. So it's just kind of like stuck. And you're going to see a young lady kind of pushing on the back of it and slipping in the mud and kind of wearing kind of wearing a long dress that used to be white and just kind of trying to muscle and this is not working.

What would you like to do? Is it drawn by any animals or something or does it look like it's just like a... What it looks to be is an older horse. So it doesn't quite have the muscle it used to have. So it's just it's kind of like pulling, but it's not it's not enough to pull the cart out of this mud. Okay, like an old gray mare kind of. Yeah, it's yeah. Well, Kala's going to kind of look to Tatiana and just sort of like I mean, this is her this is her this is her hood. So kind of like look at her and sort of be like, what's up? How far outside of Fair Bay are we again?

Oh, you're you're miles outside of Fair Bay by now. You're about a day and a half. And was the cart does it look like the cart is going away from Fair Bay? No, it actually looks like it's heading toward Fair Bay. It's hidden south. Okay. I mean, I guess she'll just sort of shrug at Galdin because if it were the other way and they looked like they were coming out of Fair Bay, she would maybe be like, I might recognize them. But because it's not she's probably just going to shrug and be like, hmm. Is she alone or is like other people around or you can't see that?

Doesn't look like there's any other people around. Hmm. Okay, Brandon will probably speak up like, I mean, we should probably help him out. Like, she doesn't seem dangerous. Sounds good to me. Yeah, I called in. I guess I'll call in a look. Can I do like a he's looking for any like broken stuff on there, like a broken axle wheel or a wagon wheel or whatever. Do me a favor. Give me a perception. Hmm. So a cursory glance again, all of this kind of appears to be older. The horse is old. The carriage is kind of it's not something you drive around in for style. This is like a hand-me-down of a hand-me-down type of thing.

And it's probably been patched up more than a few times. So it's got a little it's got like a little tarp type of thing over top of it, a little covered wagon type of thing with a with a back to it. But it's kind of on the small side. And while the wagon wheels don't really match, they're not they're they're not different sizes, but you could tell they've been replaced several times. It doesn't appear to be broken, just stuck. And this young lady is going to slip and sort of like fall under a maze in the mud and just kind of pick her hands up and just shit like that.

Just kind of flick it off of her. Guys, we should help. Yeah. Yeah. Well, I guess if the car gets close enough, Braelyn will get out and like wait for whoever else is going to come out and help. I'm coming out. Wait, are we in a car? We're walking. Oh, I thought we were in a car. I bet. I'm so rude. No, that's what I thought, but I was going along with you. Yeah. Thank you, really. I got confused because there's a car in a row. Oh, yeah. Then he'll he'll speed up a little bit. Say, hey, excuse me. You all right? And again, still kind of flicking this this this this mud off of her.

Having a little trouble, to be honest. Oh, no worries. We can help out. What's what's going on here? You seem to be off the road. Yeah, I wasn't really paying attention and I just feared to the right a little bit and I started to slide and she's going to kind of hold out her hand. Do you mind helping me up? That sounds like a trap. I think really knows enough. This seems a little weird, but he's like, ah, he'll approach and like kind of appear to be just like smiling and like being very cordial and normal. But he's going to be like trying to scan really quickly, like what the hell's going on?

Like at her dress, at the ground around her. If there's some sort of like what's it called? Like if she's hiding something in her sleeve, because I think like he'd be really about touching someone. Sure. I'm a perception. All right. Oh, the best skill. Although my stats are different these days. Oh, much different. That's twenty two. Any of those eyes on the disguises. He was tired. He was sleepy. That's true. Fair, fair, fair. I just love that. I want to establish this canon that Braylin is a master of investigating other people. But when tasked to make disguises for his own crew, he dresses them up like glow wrestlers.

Looking around this area, it doesn't look like she's carrying a weapon. If anything, she looks a little desperate, like a little maybe worried, something like that. But it does appear as though that she is alone. Again, it's a covered wagon, even though it's small. Like it's not a clown car. If there were people inside, it wouldn't be like a gang. It looks like this wagon probably hold like two, maybe three people kind of comfortably in the back. But it would stand to reason that someone would help her out, if that were the case. Something like that. So that's what Braylin would be picking up looking around the area.

More specifically, like at her wrist, she doesn't have no crazy ass like Assassin's Creed shit going on. No, dude, she is she's wearing a white and gray dress. It was white. Everything up to the waist is pretty much covered in mud at this point. Ah, I see. Okay, well then, yeah, he'll bite the bullet, I guess. Yeah, put his hand down, grab her hand, trying to help her up, even though he's short. And she's gonna use you as an anchor and stand up and she's she goes to she almost slips at one point and catches herself. Oh, okay. Thank you so much. I'm Camilla.

Camilla, that's a nice name. I'm Enrique. Well, it's very nice to meet you, Enrique. Thank you so much. I don't suppose I could trouble you good folks to maybe help me get out of this this mud? No, no, no, no, that's what actually we were stopping in to talk about. We're gonna push this cart back on the road and get you out of here. Oh, thank the gods. I really appreciate it. I have been having a day. Everyone has one of those, maybe some longer than others. And he's going to look back at the party, like motion towards the cart, like, let's do it. Yeah, Cullen gets in there.

I guess maybe he'll like try and the wagons in what, like mud, right? Yeah, it's yeah, it's just not getting any traction. Okay, I think he'll be ready to try and like, freeze water underneath it when the wagon wheel moves so it can try and like get on something solid. So he like goes down to the wheel, basically, like put his hand in the mud. Basically, everyone's given it the old heave-ho helping. Okay. And I'd say with some effort, after after a couple of minutes, she'd move around to the front of the horse and kind of like guide the horse pull. And you're gonna get this you're gonna get this this little wagon out of out of the mud.

And, and Camilla is gonna breathe a sigh of relief. Just, okay. And she's trying to wipe her hands off. And she kind of she kind of pulls this little like towel like a rag type of thing out from the wagon. I cannot thank you people enough. Thank you so much. I really thank you. No problem. I mean, what's what's what's the downside of helping out somebody else on the road, especially these days? Are you are you headed to Lockford? Um, actually, I'm heading to Estherhold right now. Oh, what's your business if you don't mind me asking? I'm meeting some friends.

I haven't seen them in a while and I just wanted to change a pace. Well, you just missed the festival in Fair Bay. It was very nice. Oh, um, I'm sure it was I'm not really much for crowds though. They kind of make me anxious. And the entire time she's, she's being very polite about it, but she's she's kind of motioning towards the way it's like, well, thank you that type of thing. Is I'm being rude. I'm very sorry. Is there anything I could do for you folks? Maybe just to repay your kindness? I don't I don't really have much in the way of money, but I could give you a few gold pieces.

Again, a lot of people would not have stopped. Money is not necessary. Just if you would do us a kindness. We're trying to be discreet in our travel. And we'd like to let this small bit of good Samaritanism be anonymous. Just don't happen to mention you ran into us on the road. I that that's not a problem at all. Excellent. Well, safe journey. I hear Estherhold is lovely. Safe travels to you as well. I hope you get wherever you're going very safely. And she's going to she's going to get ready and hop back on this this wagon and start to start to kind of get her horse to get ready and go again.

She's gonna go, Okay, Sylvester, go. And Sylvester. Oh, we got to kill it now. Sorry. Silverwalls. And she's going to get ready and start puttering down the down the road south. Can we see anything that's in her cart? No, no. You said there was a tarp on it. Yeah, it's like a little covered wagon. It's like a weapons dealer or some shit. We just helped her get her weapons. That's fine. You guys are so distrusting. That is the problem. That is the problem with with adventures these days. Just they don't. It's just well. No, no, no, no. Who says, who goes, oh, I'm stuck in the mud.

Can you help me get up? Can you come and touch me? Like there's a lot of touching going on in this episode. Like, oh, let me rub down your shoulders. I'm a stranger. OK, hold on. I know I Jason is a monster, but I am going to agree with him on this. Thank you. I've been trying to tell everyone. You help people that stuck in the mud. They think it's stuck in the mud. You hold out their hands. But you offer you don't like it. It's not like can someone listen? I'm stuck in the mud. Yeah, let's say OK, let's say you're walking down the street and you are the only other person on the road, let's say.

And let's say let's say let's say a young lady falls down in front of you and clearly needs help. Are you just going to walk by? No, I'll help her. But but it's weird if she looks at me and says, hey, can you help me up? It's like if you're stuck somewhere with a dead battery, but you don't have any jumper cables. I'm going to ask people, hey, do you have jumper cables? Because I'm kind of. Yeah, either I need to ask people or I'm going to be living in this parking lot forever. Right. I would live in the parking lot forever. Rather than have an interaction with a human.

Go up to someone. Hey, can I like. No, they're going to like kidnap me. Well, that's because you're 12. I get that. Yeah, that's. Yeah. I do get that. Got to be cautious. You are literally a Disney extra like like. Yeah, only an extra. Hey, not in theory, though, you're a beefy, beefy fighter. Yeah. Second strongest person in theory, according to this. Boy, OK, I get back on the road, I guess. It was very nice of you guys. She was nice. We're great, aren't we? Aren't we? Yeah, it's what's really worrying me is that that was a seven and that was the outcome of a seven.

So that's like, no, that's not real. Something bad. We did something. We just jump started the next large arc. Yeah. OK, hold on. That is presumptuous. Yeah, I think that the very next thing you run into is the result of a seven. I'm assuming I'm only assuming. I know. And when you assume. You make an assume. You make a assume out of me. Go continuing on the road. You guys are after your little good deed. You're going to you're going to continue on to the rest of the third. It'll be the fourth. And if at any point you guys would like to say or do anything, please jump right in.

Kalden is just going to be walking by Tatiana and say, I don't mean to press the issue, but what's what's your relationship with this? With this Ripley fellow, you said he really fucked you over. And I'm happy to share details of my past. As well, but you mean the demons? Can I get this in the back? Oh, sorry. Never mind. Yeah, I figure brilliant's like there. It's not like a secretive conversation or anything. Oh, OK. You'd probably be like snickering in the back. Yeah, even about the demons. She's going to sort of roll her eyes and then be like, I mean, does it even really matter?

No, I don't suppose it does. I'm just trying to. I'm just trying to gauge who these people are. Well, I don't know about these other people, but I can tell you that. Ripley is just. He he grabs onto you and he just reels you in. And then. Fucks you over. Do you know him from long back? Growing up in Fair Bay. No, he's not from Fair Bay. Oh. From Brightport then. Yeah, I mean, he came through Fair Bay and that's when we met and we went back to Brightport together. Mm hmm. Brandon's going to jump in now. I mean, I'm not trying to be presumptuous, but were you guys like a thing or something?

I feel like there's some there's some extra stitches left. What do you mean a thing or something? He's going to like start putting his index fingers together like, I don't know. I don't know. Like, were you guys like going out or I mean. Oh, yeah, we were steady now. I mean, when we went to Brightport together. Sort of. He kind of taught me everything I know. And then almost like aggravatingly, like because she's thinking back on everything that she's gone through in her head. And she's just going to say, you know what, your story doesn't even make sense.

Why would you fuck over somebody if they had demons? That's just stupid. Yes. Is she saying this to both of us or just one of us? She's saying it out loud. Brandon's going to look at Calvin. I guess we could talk about it. It happened, right? Yeah, I mean. You're not wrong. Wasn't the smartest thing, but it had to be done. Yeah. Well, let's say that for a second, even though we both all of us know how you feel about demons, quote unquote, air quotes. Just think for a second. They were real. And there was a door that they could have used to basically take over the entire world and kill everybody.

My friend and I here, we we help keep that door closed. Do you remember seeing the light from Kien? Maybe two years ago. I think everybody in Theria saw it, right, Jason? Predominantly people on the East Coast. But yeah, it was pretty visible. If you didn't see it, you definitely heard about it. What's like the most common theory amongst Therians as to what it was? Because that's what Tatiana would believe is whatever the most common theory. It's kind of split down the middle. So if you skew more religious, then it's it's a sign from the heavens that you know that that type of thing, because it's a beautiful kind of white light.

So it's it's like, oh, it's a sign from the heavens. We're not alone. That type of thing. Oh, everything's being taken care of. If you skew a little less religious, then it's a naturally occurring phenomenon type of thing. Like it's it's kind of a Aurora Borealis type of type of naturally occurring light. Is there a name people would call that? It depends on which side you fall on. But I mean, usually just people call it the column or the light because it was a straight shot into the air. OK, so she's just going to sort of look back at Braylin and be like, you mean the light?

I've heard that happens like every 50 years or something. Mmm. Try longer. But that didn't have to do with the Black Hand. Well, I don't know. It could be related. We. Well, what do you think? I mean, it must have been right? Well, all I know is that the Black Hand. Told us to get something to deliver something to a very important general of some sort on on a different continent, a weapon, a very, very powerful weapon. And we decided we weren't going to do it about halfway through the mission. We convinced some of the people that she hired to go with us, some of her own people to basically go back on the orders.

And she ensured that there was some demons on the boat to basically stop any kind of betrayal from happening. And we handled them. But it's not something I want to do again soon. No, no. Imagine. Imagine killing something and then it had the ability to still strike at you one last time before it died, almost like a big giant fuck you. I have one more question, Jason. I feel like I'm asking a lot of questions. I'm really sorry. No, no, no, no. Hit me. Hit me. I know that you made that list of like drugs in Tharia. Yes. I'm trying to get a gin. Give me one moment because there's a couple that would fit the bill and I'm trying.

Like, OK, I think I know where you're going with this. But it's essentially just like, oh, are you on are you on crack? That type of thing. Yeah. OK. Somebody must have hit the frickin' blank. Blank pipe? Yeah. I'd say black grass. OK. So she will actually say that. She'll be like, you know, I think maybe you guys should lay off the black grass and just sort of like chuckle it off. Yeah. I mean, it's you can think it's funny, but, you know, when you see one of your party members or one of your good friends sacrifice themselves and then die for a couple of seconds because one of these things struck out.

It stops being funny and it gets pretty real. He's going to look back at her kind of serious. He doesn't usually he doesn't use this look very often. This look is specifically reserved. It's going to look better and kind of just wait for a response. I think because it's so out of character for Brelin to act that way, Tatiana will sort of be like, oh, shit, I must have hit a nerve. But she's not going to say anything. She's just going to be quiet and sort of look down and just keep walking. The takeaway, aside from the demons, is we got sent on this mission because the Black Hand threatened to kill one of our friends mothers just outright.

Someone she cared about, someone she had information about. That's what she does. She knows things and then she manipulates you, holds it over you. That's how she can get you to do things. And that's if we have any chance of ever getting rid of this tale, we've got to know something about her. Quickly approaching you guys, and I'd say this is like midday on the fourth. They're going to be a bunch of horses. Looks like about six. There's going to be a very well dressed tiefling leading the charge. Like very well dressed, almost almost too well dressed. Oh, no.

And these guys are going to ride up and you could tell that they are in a bit of a hurry. And he's going to pull back on the reins of his horse. Oh, you there, all of you. And he is going to try and halt the party. Yes. What is it? Where are you heading? All of you, all of you. Who wants to know and why? This, OK, this guy, this tiefling is going to look like he just smelled a fart. Like it's like, yes. You dare ask me what I ask the questions, that type of that type of look. I am Vincent Delorn of House Delorn in Brightport. I need to ask you a few questions, all of you.

You're coming from the south, yes? Yes. No, we're coming from the north, just walking backwards. Very sarcastic. Yeah, very sarcastic. Colin, I'll shoot a look at Tatiana. You'll do well to hold that insulate tongue, madam. I'm looking for a woman. Oh, shit. She was heading south in a ratty old cart. For my reports, she headed this way. Have you seen her? A woman, you say? Indeed. Quickly, I haven't got all day. I don't think I've seen a woman. I didn't see a woman either. Woman, woman, woman. You mean a tiefling woman, is that what you mean? No. She would appear to be human.

It's very important that I find her. And then he is going to reach out and kind of snap to one of his men. And these guys are not dressed as well as him. They appear to be a little more heavily armored. And one of them is going to plop a sack into his hand. He's not even going to look at him, he's just going to hold out an outstretched hand. Now, I am well aware that people such as yourselves need a bit of motivation to properly loosen your tongues. If you give me information on her whereabouts, I could be persuaded to reward you. All I need is a direction.

Did she come this way or not? Well, I don't mean any offense, but if I can ask why is she so important to you? This woman. She's stolen something very valuable. I would pay a great deal to get it back. How big is it? Is it small? It's large enough that she needed a cart to transport. That's all you need to know. Did you see this woman or not? I did see a cart. The details are a little fuzzy. What is the reward you're offering? He's going to... he's going to... He's going to arch an eyebrow and say "I did see a cart." As soon as you say that, it's like "Really?" He's going to get off of his horse and he is going to approach Calvin.

I'd be willing to pay almost any price. Again, time is of the essence. Every hour that I don't have a direction, she gradually gets away. Please, good sir, if you know of her whereabouts, give them to me. I don't mean to hold you up. What did you say your name was? Delorne. At this point, you are clearly wasting his time. He never pictured stopping more than a moment. Delorne. Vincent Delorne. Of House Delorne. Oh, is there a new house in Brightport? I was not aware. And he is going to sort of roll his eyes. We're not one of the Trinity of houses. We're nobles.

And he's going to puff out his chest just a little bit. Jason, would I know this house? I'd say it depends on the circles you sort of hang out with in Brightport. So if there's a ritzy part of town, right? There's people who have profited off of all the trade and all of the dealings in Brightport. And that's the much greater slice of the city that has not profited off of that trade. So there's a few large, basically nobility, that have lived in Brightport for a long time. Generations that have just owned fleets of ships and they got their finger on the pulse of all trade.

Basically people who have played the stock market really well. Okay. No, probably not. Because I only know the performers and then I guess the scummy kind of... the semi-rich scummy people. I wouldn't know the high nobility, I guess. You said he dropped a sack? Did I hear that? He has it in his hand. No, he has this satchel of money in his hands. Oh, okay. He's like holding out a sack of money. Like, this is what I'll give you, right? Yeah. Okay. So I'm looking at this map. There's a river that cuts between the road. Have we gone through there at all? Oh, you'd be over that.

Yeah, there's a bridge that takes you over that. And then I'll say, well, I'm happy to help. I mean, of course we could use a little coin. We are travelers on the road, so a reward would be very helpful. I did happen to see... Well, I remember a cart. A woman, I'm not sure. Their face was covered. It did look very muddy. But I remember it because it was strange. They were going up the river, north, not on the road. And I thought, that's odd. Why would someone take a cart off the road? They seem to be having some trouble, but making their way along the bank. Do me a favor, roll deception.

Okay. Dang it. I thought I was going to get away with it. Oh, boy. Jesus. Almost a crit. Wow. Got it. Yeah. Wow. And you're sure of this? Yes. He is going to snap again and leap back onto his horse and sort of like pull it up. And he's going to recite exactly what you just said. She took the river north. Let's go. And he is going to get ready and take off and then stop. Oh. I suppose you've earned your reward. And he's going to reach into the sack and toss Cauldron five gold. Oh, boy. I mean, in this new world. That's a nice chunk. I did make some profit today, though.

I called in to look at the gold and then look up at him and just give a smile, eyebrows up. And they are going to take off like streak south along the road. Guys, I think that's a good time for us to stop for the evening. I pick up the gold. I pick up the gold. You're so right. Fucking Jason. That's a very presumptuous assumption. No, I think the girl's fine. I think the dude's a dick. No, no, no, but you're right. Like this is it's a kick start. I don't know what I do. I don't know what I said. I'm sorry. I don't know. That's fine. I was like, I was like, OK, if he starts fucking up, I'm going to jump in.

But no, yeah, you have complete control. You were like, I was waiting. I was like, he hasn't lied yet. He hasn't really lied. And she went north. I hear Jason go, I hear him like cracking his knuckles. We hope you enjoyed that episode and we'd love to take a moment to thank all of the folks over on Patreon for helping to support our show.
