Let's do that thing where we go around the table and introduce ourselves. I'm Jason, I'm the Dungeon Master going around the table starting with Lisa. Hey, I'm Lisa and I play Eloraf Beestinger, the halfling of Barbarians. And Jasper. Hello, this is Jasper. I play Merrick Eltharid, Human Cleric. And Zach. What's up, I'm Zach and I play Avalain Bates, the Human Fighter. And Bree. Hi, I'm Brianna Marie and I play Clara, the half-drow fighter.
And Jane. Hi, I'm Jane, I play Ephine the Gnome Bod. And Mack. Hi, I'm Mack and I play Coluna Volgarius, the wild and... ruined. Ruined. Nice. Never gonna get that down. We all seemed unsure about our race, so you know how it's... Shit. A little bit. Bod? Question mark? Am I really human? Are we human? Or are we dancer? So, first question I want to ask you guys like right out of the gate. Yes, I did it. Okay, good. Then we can check that off. I had to get off my chest. Good. Yeah. Thank god. So, are you guys checking in and getting some sleep? Or are you looking... Because again, this is right around four in the morning-ish.
You guys are checking in super early. So most people are still asleep. Are you trying to get some rest for the night, basically? Or are you up and at them? Are you... Okay, I hate to bring this up. I know we bring it up a lot. Should Elorath sleep in one of the beds upstairs or should we kind of like... Maybe we could just go take a nap in the cart until it's time to bring you to a cleric because... I was thinking about it and I'm like, they don't have the fancy washing machines that we have here where they get up to like a thousand degrees and kill all the bed bugs.
It's whatever you touch and then other people are gonna be sleeping in these beds. That's true. Excellent point. Yeah, plus it'll be easier to get rid of the body if we have to dump it. Jesus, Jasper. First of all, no. It'd be so much easier if she were in a bed because we could just wrap her up and throw her into a lake. Like a hooker, right. Right, yeah. There's that fountain. You've been to hotels before. Well, I got my episode title. Like a hooker. I'd be willing to sleep in the cart too, like to keep you company. I think as long as she could just like sleep somewhere because she's probably exhausted.
Her body's shutting down. That's true. I think that's a really good idea, honestly, because we don't know where we are in what stage of... Contagion and all that kind of stuff. I think maybe making it as super comfortable as possible and getting some water and bringing it... Basically everything to make it as comfortable as it could possibly be. Which I imagine at this point anything beyond a desert or sand would be more comfortable. Yeah. Pretty much, yeah. But yeah, it's like let's do that and it will be the first thing that happens as soon as anybody can find somebody.
This won't take more than a few hours tops, you know, kind of a thing. All right. So let's, let's I guess check you guys into your room basically. Let's, let's... So this is up several flights of stairs. And eventually your lovely halfling bag boy is going to lead you to two double doors. Is that his class? Halfling Bell... He's trained. He's a level four bell boy. Yeah, he's a level four. He's put a lot of... He can carry two bags. I want to retrain. Dual class, dual class. Yes. So gonna bring your stuff up here and trying to, trying to take the bags off your back.
That's like, I got this. Don't, don't worry about it. Kaluna absolutely would not. They don't understand the idea of someone just like, "Here, let me take your bags." No, I can carry my own bag. I am perfectly capable. You don't need to do that. But, uh, it's going to open these double doors for you. And what lies beyond is the largest room. This is as large as, as a lot of people's like houses, or at least their first floor, that type of thing. There are four large beds. And then it sort of wraps around the corner. And, um, the back boy's going to walk you through and it's like, "Okay, and here's your private bathroom." And he's going to wave you over, like he's excited, like, "C'mere a second, I want to show you something." And he's going to lead you into the bathroom.
And there is, there's a tub, like a washbasin tub type of thing. And there's something protruding over top of it. Now, normally, in a situation like this, the most you'll have is like a large box or something above with warmed water, like preheated water over that. And then there's, it's something you release, so it's like a shower. That's not, that's not what's protruding. It's like this, um, it's like a one curved piece of metal that is hanging above the, above the tub here. And he's like, "Here, here." And he's going to flip this little switch. Running water is going to come out of here, like preheated, like warm water.
Not hot, but like warm water. Evelyn flinches. And he's like, "This is a feature of the Oasis. It's clean running water. You can even drink it if you like." Kaluna's going to look over to Merrick with just the widest eyes and like their jaw has dropped. And they're like, "It's raining inside." Merrick will like nod, like this is, this is the best thing since whatever, in theory it could be best, like sliced bread. And he's going to lean his head sort of kind of upside down. Like he's going to sort of lean in and then turn it and he's going to open his mouth and like let the water like get in his mouth.
He's going to drink it because he just said, "You can drink it." So he's going to be like, "Okay." And it tastes fine. It's just warm. Like you'd probably prefer it to be a little cool, but like this is, it's fine. Like it's totally clean, drinkable water. Wow. So Merrick's going to back back up to Kaluna and say, "It's water." Just back and forth, just, "Holy shit." Yes. Right? And do we all have to use it at the same time or is it the kind of thing that we can do separately? And the back way is going to almost like, "No, no, it's for bathing. You can take separate baths.
That's perfectly fine." Merrick's going to get a skeptical look. How much does it cost? It's, well, it's included with the room. So it's one of the amenities of the room itself. Merrick is like totally like speechless and he's going to just shake his head like, "Holy crap." And he's going to go back and he's going to find a bed and throw his stuff on. Normally, beds in Theria are either made of some version of like straw and wool and things like that. Softer things that would support a person's weight. These appear to be a little more reinforced. They're a little more elevated off the ground, which makes you think that beyond the normal padding, there's something underneath that would give it a little more support.
So normally when you throw your bags on a bed, it would just like, and the bed almost kind of deforms a little bit, or sometimes the bag just rolls off or something like that. This just like it very solidly supported the weight of what you threw on there. This is blowing his mind. So this is all ours, you're saying? Let me just make sure we're clear here. This is ours. Well, for as long as you're staying in the room, sir. Yes, absolutely. Jesus Christ, this is amazing. Okay. Elrath is not with us, right? Right. Like if we decided that she would be sleeping in the cart and she did not have to walk up all those stairs, she would not have walked up all those stairs.
Right. Okay. So making sure. Maric's going to turn to everybody else and go, "Don't tell Elrath about this yet. It's going to blow her mind whenever she's okay." Oh. What would everyone else be thinking right now? You said the Aveline is just kind of, he kind of flinched at the water thing? Oh, he flinched at the water. He's just looking around about like at how large the room is. And it's just too much space. And to get this clear, all the beds are in the same room, right? It's just one room just full of beds? Yeah. Okay. Is there anything on the walls he can touch?
Oh, dude. Yeah, there's art and things on the walls. He's touching art. He's touching art. Lick it. Lick it. Smell it. Lick it. Listen to it. How would, how would Efani be feeling? I think she'd be incredibly wide-eyed. Just really quiet from it, just taking it all in and just absolute amazement. And then she was kind of really watching when Maric threw his bags onto the bed. And she's kind of amazed by those. And probably as soon as the, as soon as the bag boy's gone, she's probably going to go bounce on the bed. Aww. Wait, like jump, like jump on top of it, feet down, like yeah!
Pretty much, yeah. Exactly that. Like every child in every hotel room across the nation. Egg nation. Yep. She's gonna go do it. That was one of the most painful things of growing up, realizing I was too big to do that anymore. Aww. I could still do it if I wanted. Oh, you just need a bigger bed. Yeah, you just need to try harder. Yeah, get better, Jason. A jumping hump bed. Get good scrub. I'm going to start with Gries. Right now. No! It's the weakest bed. So let's catch up really quickly with, uh, with Clara and Elarath. You're going down to take a nap in the cart for a while?
Yeah. Yes. And what they've done is they've brought it around to this shaded area and your animal's being taken care of. And that poor, poor horse. Mm. Um, has had this shit kicked out of it. Not a lot of sleep, it's thirsty, it's hungry, it's been, you know, beaten with sand. And like, it's just, yeah, it's had a rough go. So they're currently taking care of that right now. But the cart is right there for you guys to lay in if you'd like. And everyone's getting some sleep, correct? Yes. All right. So what we're going to do is we're going to advance time to around noonish.
Couple things I need to do. Maric, do me a favor, roll a con saving throw. 14. We're going to add that number to your stress hit die. Yes! So that'll help. You got a very restful sleep is basically what that translates to. Yes. Perfect. So that's going to help a lot. Because you were coasting in on fumes, we talked about that along with everything else. No food, no water, that was. That causes some stress getting lost. So we're going to add that to your number. So, Elrath, this might be the last time I ask you to do this. Okay. Do me a favor, give me a con saving roll with disadvantage.
Oh, I forgot about disadvantage. Okay. Hey! Look at that. Hey, nice. Gorgeous. And one more for your physical appearance. Same thing, disadvantage? Same thing. Oh, she looks like shit. Okay. So, yeah. All right. So, okay. Everyone's going to wake up, again, around noonish. You guys are just exhausted. I would also imagine that you have washed off in some capacity. Oh, god, yeah. Shower. We should roll real quick to see the order of people going into the shower. Everyone roll initiative, that's basically fair. So, that's, even Klar and Elrath, I would imagine there's a place to hose off and get clean and things.
I would imagine they would allow that. You are guests of the hotel. Elrath, sadly, is looking pretty pale, sweaty. Hair kind of like, slicked back almost, like drenched in sweat, just having a little trouble catching her breath a little bit, so it just looks bad. Complexion is a little blotchy, just that look, it's like, oh, man, you should go home and sleep. That type of thing, if someone were to show up to work like that. Is everyone meeting up? Yeah, straight to the lobby. Alright. Like, we're all in the same room, right? So, whoever's going to get up is like, come on, come on, come on, come on, come on, come on, come on, come on.
Umm, Applin has a little trouble getting up. The beds are just too soft, you know? This is better than Elrath. What? Aww. Rude. I think Halluna might actually, like, physically have trouble, just like, this is weird, this is weird, it's so soft, how do I get any, how do I move? Hello? Send help. Hello. Applin is just going to whip the blankets off both of you, like, get up. Listen, Halluna's trying. They're scrambling. But they just, they don't know. They don't understand. They're like a turtle that's fallen backwards on its shell, just like, ehhhh. Basically, just like, help me.
They're both just like, rolling on the ground. Applin is crawling to the door, like, you know you're really tired but you have to go somewhere? You just kinda like, crawl until you're ready to go? Let's go to the lobby. Let's go, let's go, or not just the lobby, but meet in the lobby, make sure we're all there, and then we gotta go. Let's all go to the lobby. But there is a concierge, right? Oh yes. Is there, is it, is his name, there was somebody at the counter called Rydell, or Rydell. Yep. Is that right? That was pretty much the lead person there, checking you in and doing all that.
Okay. Would that be the person to speak to, just sort of as the, like, so what's good around here, kind of a person? Or... You can, they're definitely present right now. Or you could poke around the hotel, but it sounds like you guys are pretty, uh, itching to go here. Yeah, I think this is super, we've gotten to where we needed to go for a very particular reason, so, uh... So if you were to talk to Rydell, he would tell you that there is a, 'cause obviously you're looking for someone to help. Oh yeah. Yeah. Like, cleric, somebody who can heal, not a novice, but somebody who's like, super good.
So there is, there's a pretty damn skilled healer/mage on the edge of town in this temple of Avandra, named Vaces Durs. And she's been doing this for a very long time. Um, Aladrin, and he keeps, he keeps very, very skilled. You'd be in amazing hands, no matter what you're looking for. I'm sure that she can help you. Fantastic. Fantastic. Directions, please. Yep, he would give you, like, detailed directions, and it's like, "How can I end?" and you're gonna turn on this street, and blah blah blah blah blah. And of course, the entire time it's like, "Oh, there's also a lovely restaurant down here if you wanna change it out." And, "Oh, there's a smith on this side of the..." you know, that type of thing.
Just kind of directing you and giving you other places of commerce to, you know. If you'd like to sightsee on your way there. Yeah. 'Cause I don't think he understands the urgency of what you're trying to get done. So, yeah, you guys are all set. You know where you're going now. So, how's our horse? After, I'd say at this point it's fine. Like, it could get you around town. Is it the kind of place where you would have a horse pull a cart around town, or do you feel like... You can. It's your vehicle. It's your means of transportation. Okay, but it wouldn't be, like, "Why are you pulling that thing around here?
We're in your walking zone." No, I mean, it's a city. Like, they're used to that kind of... you know, they gotta transport goods and services across town, too. Okay. Well, let's transport our goods and service. But I think we should just be careful, since we're in a place that we don't know with people we don't know and how they might react. And kind of cover Elrath up with a bunch of blankets or whatever, especially since Elrath's not doing great, but also a little bit to keep... Yeah. It's subtle or something? Yeah. Yeah. So, here's something you're gonna notice.
Stepping outside, when you guys meet up, you didn't really notice this at four in the morning, but it is intensely hot outside. I mean, you remember that from your trek, right? But there's something different about the temperature inside versus the temperature outside. Oh, no. Oh, my God. Kaluna's gonna look back at the door as soon as the connection is made and be like, "What the fuck?" They've got running water and central air, guys. There's an HVAC. I'm gonna call his air conditioning. Wow. It really is magic. To the cleric. Please. Temple of Elandra, please.
We don't have a taxi driver. You catch an Uber outside. Someone gets in the front and grabs the reins, and the cleric's like, "Temple of Elandra, please." And the driver's driving, he's like, "Yeah, we know. We're going." The cleric just stares at his cell phone. He doesn't know why, and people aren't picking him up. Oh, my God. So, it's gonna take you guys about 15 minutes to get there. And this temple is actually on the smaller side, especially compared to the place you're staying in. But you're gonna hear this music coming out of it. It sounds like a few different people playing flutes and things, like pan flutes, that type of music.
Very calming, very soothing type of like, "Ooh, is it time for my massage?" That type of music. It's Aba. It's Aba. Yes. So, yeah, that's it. Are you guys going to go inside? Yeah, but let's... What is the entrance like? Is this the kind of thing we could pull Elarath in? I don't want to do that, is my point. You mean I want a cart in? Yeah, so I'm saying, is it a big thing, or is this a tiny door? It's a small door, because this place is on the smaller side. Okay, it wouldn't be weird to leave the cart outside for a minute. No. We're headed in for a second. No, no, no.
Should somebody go in and everybody else just sort of stays outside with Elarath? You know what I mean? Like, kind of do a little recon? I mean, we're here to get her a cure. Like, they are a group of clerics. That would kind of be like going to a hospital and like, "Do you want to check and make sure that they treat patients before we go into this hospital?" Well, yeah, but it's a hospital that has pan flutes. So it's like, I don't know, I'm skeptical. Oh, it's the pan flutes that are throwing you off. Okay. Yeah, that's what it is. We don't have a ton of options.
Oh, no, I'm not. I say let's just do it. Yeah, it wasn't skepticism, it was more about just being respectful of the temple, honestly. I was like, should we all barge in, or should we have somebody go in and be like, "Excuse me, do you have a thing?" Let's kick the door down and storm to the cleric, demand to heal our friend, punch him in the face afterwards, and then leave. Well, let's put it this way. We're going to leave Elarath outside, but who's going to stay out? Somebody should stay out with Elarath. I'll stay out with Elarath, it's fine. Thanks, fruit.
Okay. All right, let's head in real quick and let's find Vastus Durst. Durst, by the way, that's very- Durst? Is Durst? No. No, Durst is a different person. Durst rhymes here with here, we don't use this. Okay, Durst. Fine. Sorry. So nitpicky. So you're going to walk in and the cleric's going to go, "Yeah!" and then- Fred Durst is the joke. That's the joke. You know, it's funny because I laughed and I don't know anything about Fred Durst. I'm going to stay in here like what? Limp Biscuit. Oh. Oh. Did not know that. I just knew the name. Anywho, so there's going to be this elegant woman dressed in these gorgeous white robes with this golden red trim all over it.
It kind of sparkle to it, hands folded, sitting down at this table. And the second you walk in, she's going to look up. Can I help you with anything? Maric's going to look around like, "Should I?" Okay. Hi. We're looking for someone named Vasus Durst. We're looking for a healer. Is Vasus around by any chance? She is going to extend a hand. I'm cleric Durst. Oh, thank Evandra. He's going to put his hand out, shake real quick and be like, "We need some help. Quickly, if possible." And she's going to stand with some urgency. Is one of you injured? Maric's going to sort of turn around like he's trying to give enough information, but not trying to make anybody panicked.
So he's just looking around everybody's eyes like, "Yeah." One of our members has fallen ill. And there's a lot of things on the road and we feel like maybe this is something that would call for something you could just wipe it clean. Just get it out. Do you want to take a look? Yes, please bring them to me right away. It might be best if you could come outside. Would that be okay? She's going to squint just a bit. It's like, "Okay, this sounds serious." And she's going to gesture to the door, like lead the way. Okay, let's lead Vasus straight to the cart and Maric is going to kind of hold his arm out, like, you know, don't get too close.
And then with his other hand, he's going to whoosh with the blankets like... Tada! Here's what we've got. Really air that blanket out towards the crowd. Maric burns the blanket to get it airborne into the air. But like it kind of points like, you know, this is what we've got. It's been a few days. I'm going to be honest, I don't think there's a whole lot of time left. Is there anything you could do? Did you say that in front of Elrath? Yeah. Okay. Do you know what's interesting about this is the entire time leading here and all this, there's been this, not a facade of like, but it's like, "Yeah, everything's going to be great." I don't agree with all the time left.
Like now it's like this breakneck shift. No, we don't have time. It's like, "No, okay, look, Elrath's just a thing to help now. And then let's get that taken care of because..." A thing. Yeah, well, no, I'm just saying like, it's like, "No, this is..." The endless is the thing, I think. That's what I mean. This is a thing to deal with. It's not like, "Oh, it's okay." It's like, just fucking please. She's gonna hold a hand up, just like, "Okay, calm down. Let's take a breath." Kaluna will take a breath. She is going to hold her hand out to Elrath to shake.
She'll probably look at it and just be like, "I don't know if that's a good idea." I'm not worried, dear. Please. What's your name? Elrath. I'm Vasis. Can you walk, Elrath? Yeah. How about we get you out of this hot sun? I'd like that. And she's going to try and help Elrath inside. Okay. She'd probably try her best, but probably let her because she's so tired at this point. So she's gonna get Elrath to sit down here, and she looks concerned because this is not a great presentation. It's not like, "Oh, you look fine." It's like, "Oh, boy. Okay." And she's going to feel Elrath's head and face and under the throat here and just check.
And then she says, "I'm going to give you a quick once-over just to see how far this has progressed, all right?" Okay. And she's going to hold a hand up in front of Elrath's face, and it's going to start to glow kind of a very light yellow. And she's going to very gently press this against Elrath's forehead. She's not going to know what to do. She's going to be like, "Oh, is anybody with her?" I'd imagine. Is the whole party there? Yeah, I figured we were all coming together. If she can stay around the hand, she's going to try and look at somebody. She'd be like, "What the fuck?" with her eyes.
Clara will kind of put up her hands like, "Shh, it's fine. It's fine. Let her do it." Elrath, I'm afraid you have a fairly rare disease, and it's progressed quite a bit. Yeah. It's slough fever. That's correct. Can you help me feel better? There's going to be this really sympathetic look in her eye like, "Oh." I believe I can, yes. It's... Can you give me a moment to speak with your friends? She'll just nod. And she's going to motion for the rest of the party to sort of step near the door for a moment so she can talk with them. Your friend is quite ill, and I'm sure that you all realize that by now.
I'm sure the trek through the desert didn't help things. It was the only direction we could go to get somewhere as quickly as we could. How are you all feeling right now? Should we roll to make sure that we give a completely correct answer? If any of us are trying to feel feverish or anything, that definitely... Have we been popping? No. Okay, so everyone's pretty chill? Everyone's pretty good right now. Kaluna will double check and just put a hand to their own forehead like, "Mm-hmm." And then give a thumbs up. Yeah, all good. No problems. Well, normally the temple charges for services like this, but your friend is in dire straits.
I'm going to give her some help. But if you'd like to donate at some point, that would be very much appreciated. There's no question. This isn't charity. We want to make sure that you're compensated for anything, but we need help immediately. Of course. Without debate, trust me. This is going to take some time, so if you could give me about an hour. Great. Let's hit the slots. Klara will stay here, but she's not going to judge you if you actually do want to go play the slot. At this point, she's just relieved, just like, "Okay, everything's fine. Go do you.
Just go. I don't care." No, no. We've come so far just for this. America isn't going to leave. He's going to be like, "No, we'll stick around until this is taken care of." Hey, Ellora. Yes. So, Vasis is going to come back and start her work, and she's going to be casting a very powerful healing spell. Now, this can take a lot out of people. It can also, some people have felt rejuvenated afterwards. So, for the very last time, in regards to slough fever, could you do me a favor and roll a constitution save? Advantage, disadvantage, or just a flat? I'm going to say with advantage because of the spell.
Okay. Hey. So, after about an hour of Vasis preparing and getting ready, because this takes a lot out of her, she is going to cast this spell. And Elorath is going to feel just 100% better. It slowly fades in, and then after about five minutes, it's like, "Hey, all right." It feels like you've been carrying a 50 or 60-pound backpack all day. And then just the end of the day, it's like, "Ugh." You take it off, and you just thump. It hits the ground, and you just feel so much lighter. You're ready to go. You are ready to start the day. It feels like you have slept for two or three days.
I wish. Elorath is also going to look a hell of a lot better. Complexion's going to clear raid up, kind of a glow, not sweaty. For once. So, congratulations. Yeah. Yay! We did it! Elorath, you're good. How does the cleric look after it? Pretty beat. Pretty exhausted. That's the kind of thing that's like, "Okay, I need to go sleep now." But she would be checking on Elorath. It's like, "How do you feel?" "Is there still a cough? Is there something?" Did we get it all, basically, is kind of the sentiment. Okay. Well, after it's all said and done or whatever, Elorath's going to hug her as hard as she can without hurting her.
Aww. "No, no, no, you're still contagious!" Yeah, she'll hug you back. She'll hug you back, but kind of weakly, just kind of like, not a lot of strength in that hug. Thank you. Can I give you anything? Because I thought I was going to die, so is there anything that you need or want? Because thank you. She doesn't know how to put it into words. I'm just glad that I can help. I've been through worse, trust me. The temple always takes donations. If that's something you or your party could spare, go right ahead. But don't feel under any obligation, alright? Okay.
Thank you. She's really excited. Aww. And a little teary. Yeah, she'd give one more hug, just kind of a "ugh," that type of thing. And then she'd probably excuse herself to go lie down for a while. Before she's gone, Merrick would just ask, "How much would you normally charge for something like that?" It would depend. Honestly, it depends on whether or not we feel the person going back out into the world would do harm or good, but the base price is normally about 50 gold. Okay, well, you can expect that and more. Oh no. Oh god no. She's going to give like a faint smile.
Before we leave, I have a question. Are there people... that's a weird question. Are there people playing the flutes? Or is there just pan flute music playing? There are people playing the flutes. Okay. It's kind of a soothing, just like, "Okay guys, and a one, and a two." *imitates flute music* Listen, there's AC and showers. I was like, "Have they invented speakers?" Here's the thing. That's in the hotel. Oh. Okay. Before we leave, Clara's going to squeeze Elrath's hand, like, just really happy and pat her back and then say, "I think I'm going to go pray." And she's going to kind of point to, I'm assuming there's an area to pray.
Oh yeah, it's a temple. Oh, totally. Do you want to come with me? Yeah. I'd like that. Yeah. She'll kind of motion to the rest of the party too, like, "You guys want to come?" Like, not pressure, but just, "Hey, we're going to go." Caluna's going to make kind of a stink face at the thought of it, just like, "Mmm-mmm." No. Merrick's going to kind of nudge Caluna and be like, "Come on, let's... come on." Caluna's going to just sort of, like, grumble under their breath, like, "We already fucking saved them. Why should I... I don't want to... mmm-mmm-mmm." Be nice for the people.
Come on. Fine. Fine. Fine. What is Avandra's domain? Ah, Avandra is the god of change and travel, basically overall luck. Like, when people are... like, if they're going out to sea, if they're going... So it's that and Malora for nature and such. If they're basically asking the gods of chance, it's like, "Hey, fucking... just be cool. Let me... I'm moving to a new town. I hope I don't get butchered on the way, or I hope... I hope I'm as prosperous as I want to be in this new job," or, you know, that type of thing. Or, "I hope I don't die of this fever," that type of thing.
Caluna's going to take some of the, um, the heather that's growing on their head and just, like, clip a piece of it off, and they'll sort of put it down wherever seems appropriate. And then they're going to sort of, like, point up at the sky, like, "There you go. This is for you, dude." "Thank you, dude!" Kind of, yeah. Just like, "Gotcha. Gotcha this." Caluna, you played a hell of a game today. Oh, I first won. Gotta thank Evandra. Gotta thank... Where are you going? I'm going to Onakar. So after you guys pay some respects and you... Oh, wait. I'm gonna...
I'm gonna pay some respects here. Barak is going to kneel or whatever's appropriate, seemingly, in this particular temple, whether it's kneeling or sitting, whatever it is. And he's going to, in a very cleric-y, respectful way, because he knows this world. He's going to say something like, "Evandra..." He's going to say this all out loud. "Oh, Evandra. Goddess of change, travel, luck. We thank you for your guidance and help today as we help our friend and as we enjoy the casino at the hotel. Thank you, Evandra." And he's going to call her Lady Luck. God.
Caluna's going to put their hand over their mouth and drag it down, just sort of trying to very subtly face palm. Just like, "Oh, this is why he wanted us to be nice. Okay." Who else would you pray to for something like this? Evandra would probably be ecstatic. There is probably a good reason why the Temple of Evandra is the one right next to the casino's limit. It does make sense. Right? Clara's going to thank Evandra for saving Elrath's life. I did that! I did that! And not ask for anything in return. You know, the good person. I said, "Also..." That was it.
I said Elrath first, and then I mentioned it. Yo, God. Yo. Thanks for... Bo Burnham does an entire bit on this where he's like, "Oh, there's sadness, but there should be joy." And then he's like, "Could you help my dog just have surgery?" Yeah, my dog. Yeah. "Could you fix that first?" Anyway, sorry. It was funny. But yeah, I think that Clara would probably just go about the proceedings kind of quietly and just like a thank you. Whatever. I don't know what would be expected, but I do know that Clara did this in Aubrey. So she kind of knows the motions. It's kind of like going to a Catholic church and knowing when you're supposed to like sit down, when you're supposed to stand up.
Like it's all... She knows it. That's all. I just wanted to establish that part because she would. Knows all the Latin to say. Right. Like all the bullshit. You know what they don't say? And also to you anymore in Catholic churches? It's something else now. That's weird. Because it used to be very Star Wars where it would be like, "May the force be with you." And also to you. So say we all. Exactly. I was going to say that Efthony probably followed Clara and was watching what she does closely because she doesn't really... She has no clue, but she wants to kind of...
She wants to offer her thanks as well. So she's probably watching what Clara is doing. Okay. That being said, what would you guys like to do now? You got a clean bill of health? Come on, we got it now. That's a big deal. That's been the very beginning and the arc of this whole thing. I don't want to take that too lightly. This is a big deal. Congratulations, number one on your character not dying. Yeah! Good job. Thank all of us for not dying, I guess. Ultimately. You did a better job than others. I think Kaluna did the worst. Definitely, yeah. You gotta protect that horse with your own corpse.
To be fair, it was not protecting the horse. The horse didn't suffer any less damage because Kaluna was there. I actually remember it did slightly less anyway. I think so. So I'm going casino. Casino! Yeah, I really feel like we owe it to Vasis here. To make sure that we get them going here at the temple. This is a big deal. This is where we can start off being really good to people, right? Jason, real quick, I have a question. Was there a donation plate on the way out of the church? Yeah. As we were leaving, Aveline was just standing there like an awkward duck the whole time.
As we were inching out, he was going to slide nine gold into the collection plate. Aww. That's really nice. I honestly thought he was just going to empty his pockets and be like, "And there's a chicken leg, and there's a handful of sand that I thought was really important earlier." Listen, if I thought that anything left in Kaluna's pockets would still be viable, they absolutely would have done that. Like, fine. We'll be respectful. Have this lizard. Some weird leaves. A shiny rock. Like three artifacts that we didn't know Kaluna had. Exactly. I can imagine Kaluna walking by and saying, "Ooh!" and then taking something from the train.
Like, "Oh, a gift!" I think they understand. Okay. Did we keep that little onyx figurine with the gemstone eyes? Yeah. We can always just put that in there and be like, "Here you go!" Here's a potentially cursed thing. There's a curse. Yeah. Oh, I forgot that it had a curse on it. Who said it had a curse on it? I said "potentially." Oh, okay. That's this group full of pessimists. Yeah, this was our lucky charm. Also, I think it's in Merrick's bag. Oh, okay. Because I don't think it was like a, "Oh my god, look what we all found." It was more like Merrick just found it and was like, "This is cool." And just kind of shoved it in his bag.
I used to use collateral with your loan shark. Dude, are you kidding? This little thing is going to be lucky charm for Lady Luck. And this is going to be amazing. Why not just use the little foot on our key? That sounds like a great lucky charm. That's right. Okay, are we ready to go casinoing? I'm ready. Woo! Casino! Getting back to this place, I want to break down... You know what? Do me a favor. Everyone, give me a perception check. Just a good old fashioned, "Everyone give me a perception check." I want to see what you guys take in here, because there's a lot going on in this place.
Oh, Jesus. Wow, okay. Yeah, that's Evelyn. Yeah, Merrick's pretty focused. Hell yeah. Merrick just winched it out. All of the people that are supposed to be bad at perception did really well. So, let's see. Kaluna, Efni, Klara, and Elarath are gonna... Here's basically the walking tour. Picture that Goodfellas one shot through the bar. It's like, "Oh, and here's this, and here's that." So, you get to the casino side, and there are people who are already gambling. There's a few people staying in this place. And there are people serving drinks right to tables and food and all kinds of stuff.
There's a game called Feig, which essentially is a really simple dice game. It's like war with the dealer, and the bets gradually go up until you decide to punch out or push it just a little bit further. There's a game called Galle, which is essentially roulette. And all these things have the rules break down when you get up to the table. It's like, "Okay, well here's how much..." Galle is pretty much the biggest payout. If you were to bet, it's essentially a D100. So, if you bet and you actually nail the number, that's the biggest payout in this casino.
Which is you win 1,000 times what you put down. Yes. No. There's also horse racing. I thought that was going a different way. Did anyone else think that was going a different way? There's also horse racing. There's horse... I mean, no. There's also horse racing. There used to be a coliseum here where people would fight to the death and everything. And the Elatran kind of find that a bit barbaric. So what they've done is they converted it into a big sparring pit. You could test your mettle against other things, but not to the death. And they have it set up for horse racing.
Which you can watch within the comfort of the casino. Please, oh my god. There's also one more thing. Let's do this one. Once a week, they hold this prize fight. There is an undefeated female minotaur in the casino named Talati Kayn. If you can go three rounds with Talati... Oh no. Or knock her out, you win a huge cash prize. Holy mackerel. Where would you guys like to start? Avalon's gonna go fight Taladi. What's that? You're just volunteering people for trade? Yeah, totally. Where do you guys want to start? What are you feeling? Did we each get credit to start with, or was it just as a group?
We have a hundred gold credit, right? So first thing, Merrick's gonna go up to whatever window there is for getting that credit. And getting the chips or whatever's used here. I'm assuming it's some sort of chippy type thing. Maybe it's colored stones or something. That would be nice. Okay. And there's six of us, and luckily a hundred is divided by six easily. So, what, we all get sixteen and two thirds. Just breaking chips. Okay. Who's interested in this and who's not interested in this? I gotta know. If you give Kelowna like five credits, I think they'll be solid.
Well, go ahead. Avalon kind of raises his hand and he says, "I don't really understand the point of this. Aren't you just losing money repeatedly?" Yeah, that's the fun of it. That's exactly the fun of it. Also, we owe some people some stuff and we're gonna make this work. You see, you lose some of the time, but most of the time you win. That's how it works in Casuus. You are teaching Kelowna horrible things. They're nodding along like, "Okay, okay." Well, if you put it that way. Right. Sounds like we have a job to do. Here's five gold. Thank you. Efini? Sure, count me in.
Let's do it. Excellent. Here's your five gold. Wow! This is like handing out tokens like you're giving me. Thank you, Uncle Merrick. Clara. Okay, Uncle Merrick is creepy as fuck. You're welcome. I feel like Clara might be eyeing that Minotaur thing. Yeah, me too. Okay. What does it cost to do that? Does it cost money to get you in the ring? It only costs 20 gold to participate. If you go the distance and you don't get knocked out, then you win 500. If you can knock her out, you get 1000. Oh, wow. So it's like riding the bull at an event where you don't really have to stay on it the whole time.
It depends how many seconds you can stay on it. Yeah, that's how confident they are in their champion. Would it be like bare knuckle boxing? Yes. So this is UFC. That's not my strength, I don't think. So this is like the club of fighting, is what you're telling me. Mm-hmm. Gold is a lot though. Okay, Clara's gonna kind of... All of that just happened in character where she's looking over at Elarath and then the cost it is. It's like, "Okay, give me five gold. If I can get the 20 gold from that, I'm gonna fight the Minotaur." And then she's gonna hold out her hand for the five gold.
Okay, smart. Here's your five. Elarath, it's okay to touch- Deal, same, same, same. Oh my god, okay, here's five gold. She feels so good. She's like, "Yes, yes, yes." And the fact that Clara was doing it too, she's like, "Mm-hmm, mm-hmm, mm-hmm. Bud." Okay, cool. So that leaves me with 75. So this is good. This is perfect. How much? So scared. Evelynn's counting on his hand. 74. Okay. Perfect. Clara's gonna kind of walk over at Marek and be like, "How about we put 20 aside for food?" Of course, absolutely. In fact, maybe we can... Is there a place that we could set up a table for us, and then we can use that as a home base?
Or do we need to just wander around? I mean, it's kind of set up for you to wander around, but yeah, you could totally do that. I'm thinking like a bowling alley. You've got the people playing, but behind it there's a table with stuff. Someone needs someone to put a bag there so everyone knows it's ours. Exactly. I'm sure that's fine. Okay, great. That's a great idea. In fact, I'll take care of snacks for everybody. What do you think? From this? Kaluna's already gone. Kaluna's off to fight. Yeah, Marek turns around to say that, and no one's there. Oh boy, howdy.
Okay. How about I just run down the list of things that... We'll just go down the things one by one and see what people are interested in. How about that? Yeah. So let's start with a little game of Feig. Now again, this is kind of like war. The basic rules are it's a five gold buy-in and it starts there. So essentially, if you beat the dealer, then that doubles the money and you can choose to move on or just cash out at any point. Each time you do it though, it doubles. Okay. Is anyone interested in Feig? You know what? That sounds very simple. I'm in. Okay, let's do it.
Anyone else? I want to do it. Okay, let's go. So popping down five tokens. Gonna win me some tickets. Get an eraser. So do me a favor. Roll a d20. Both of you guys. Flat d20s. Oh. And dealer... 19! Oh no. Oh Jesus. No. So that's Kalenus four, Marix 15, and the dealer's 19. But if you add them together... Ah, damn. Okay, so, all right, fine. That's okay. That's the beginning. That's how this starts. That's how they get you. And after that, you start winning. Would you like to go again, sir? I think Marix is gonna move on. This is great. I'm gonna move on. Kalenus is going to look over at him as they lose and go, "You said you always win." No, no, you start winning.
Eventually you start winning. That's how they do this here. Kalenus is just going to just... and they're going to go. They're going to leave. They've used all their money. They're done. Goodbye. Really? They have other stuff that they want to do, so they're like, "Okay, that was fun. Bye." So, Galette, the roulette-style game. Who is interested in that? Avlin will try it. All right. So the rules for this are pretty simple. Pick a number. You can either pick a number from 1 to 100 and bet on the actual number. So if you nail the number, you get tons of money. If you get within 5 of it, then you still get a payout.
You can also choose to forego that entirely and bet on red or black. Evens are black, odds are red. The payout for that is a little smaller, obviously, but still. I got to... Avlin's thinking he has to work his way up, so he's going to go on reds. Okay. Odd on reds? Yep. Okay. All right. So how much are you going to bet? Five. Five. Okay. So if you land, you double your money. So do me a favor. Roll a d100 just to... Yeah. We're hoping for odds here. No, we're going to get odds, not hoping for them. Forty-eight. Oh, man. Forty-eight. They rigged it. They rigged it. Avlin just looks down like, "Huh.
I'm out of money." He saunters away to find Anthony. Clara will try the... Gallé? Yeah, that. Let's do it. All right. Evens. Evens. How much are you betting? Oh, shit. All of it. That was before it came up. That was before it came up. Ninety-six. Yay. That will double your money. I thought five was the minimum you could do. I thought it was like the last game, so I didn't think I had to say anything. No, that's okay. Do you want to go again, madam? So now I have ten? Yep. I'll do five again. Okay. Evens or odds? Evens. Okay. Ninety. Yay. Fifteen. That'll take you to fifteen.
Clara's going to motion to Elrath. Like, "Come here. Come here." The table's hot. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. She'll look at her. She'll be like, "Uh, same as her." Evens, I guess. Five on evens. Okay. Here we go. There. Yeah. Two. That is the smallest thing. That's the smallest even. You guys are doing fantastic. Right? Merrick's... Oh, Polina's not there. Never mind. I think actually, Kaluna left, grabbed paper and something to write with, and then came back and just sat at the table where everyone's supposed to meet up. Aw. Fine. This is too much, like, real life. Okay, while you're all having fun, I guess I'll do something by myself.
I'm going to go again. Five more. Okay. Elrath. On evens. You thought it was going to be Merrick. Same. Five. All right. Yes. 78 evens. 20 gold. Got it. Let's go. I think I have 15. You got more shit to do. You got to do stuff. She's like, "I want to go one more time and put down five more gold." All right. Evens or odds? Evens, please. All right. No. Oh, a twist. Okay. But you know what? You made a kitty face. So did you really lose? It's an 83. It's a little cat wearing sunglasses. Oh, it is. Okay, I was like, "What are you even talking about?" Mac, are you okay? Cas is like, "How did you -- you can't see me." How did you know?
She's going to look at it and be like, "Oh, okay." Again? And she'll be kind of a question to look at Kalara like, "Eh?" You could always bet on a specific number too, the dealer would remind you. Oh. How much do you get if you get it on the specific number again? It's a 1,000 times payout. So if you put down five, you'd get 5,000. Good lord. Now, if you get within five of it, it's a times 50 payout. Ooh. Is that five either direction? Yep. She's like, "You know what? Okay. Five on a number, and I'm going to say 72." 72. I don't know why she picked it. Here we go.
Come on, come on. Nope. So close. So close with the total. Almost a crit. She hasn't really lost any money yet per se. She still has her five, right? Yep. Yeah. So she's like, "Okay." You could always do that five more times. Just bet one little coin on each one. Yeah. I actually really like this idea. She's like, "Okay. One, four, 47." I don't know why. Oh my god. 36. So close. That one was actually so close. All right. One, four, 83. 83. 36 again. I'm doing a really dramatic countdown now in the chat. One, four, 56. I would like to point out, if you did 36 at this point, because you just rolled that twice. 56.
No, why? Four? Who? Okay. Two gold remaining. You know what? She's going to be like, "You know what? Two, four, 65." Wait. You're putting two in for 65? Yeah. Okay. Let's do it. Nope. 31. And you're poor. I'm broke. Should have gone for the 36. But you have your health. Okay. I was going to... Honestly, part of me was like, "God, I hope she doesn't get enough money to fight the Minotaur right after overcome." I know you are. She's bummed though, but she'll definitely cheer you on. Color's going to get knocked the fuck out. Merrick's going to put 10 down on blacks. 10 down on black.
Let's do it. Hoping for an even. 70. Boom. Nailed it. All right. All right. Okay. Another 10 on blacks. All right. Hoping for another even. Roll the dice. Sit. Go 42. Boom. 42. So, let's see. And one more time. I'm going to put a 10. 10 down on... I'm going to go for reds this time. All right. Oh. That's all right. That's all right. 60. Okay. I can't end on that. No. You can always bet on the number. I don't... Oh, that's how they get you. Demon. Not today, devil. Not today, Satan. We are going to... We will... Who are we? Yes. It's me and Merrick. I'm going to put five down on blacks again.
All right. Damn it. I can't go out that way. 45. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Put two down. Two down on the number 12. Oh, okay. 87. Okay. All right. So close. Merrick is going to slowly back away from the table. Sir, put your hands up back away from the table. What did I do here? What did I do here? You lost two gold. You were up and then you lost two gold. What's my net here? Minus two. Yes. Wait. So I... No, because I won 10 and then I won 10. Then you lost 10. No, I put... Wait, didn't you bet 10 the last... No, I did five. I did five. Okay. Then I put you... You gained five then.
That's right. Damn straight. Damn straight. Okay. Up five. Up five. Up five. All right. Cool. Cool. All right. I'm done. So there's horse racing, which is actually really straightforward. And then there's that prize fight thing. And then there's lots of little sights to see and such. Efthony, you took five, didn't you? Did you do anything with that yet? I didn't. I've just been watching. You like ponies? Yeah. Is Efthony a ponies gal? Maybe. Yeah, I think you should go check that out. So they hold horse racing here. And this is... You want to talk garish. So that big arena that used to be dedicated to Bloodsport is now it's like, yeah, we race ponies.
So just like in real horse racing, there are odds on favorites. There are horses that aren't doing so great, but you stand to gain more by betting on them. So there is a person here that when this race begins, they sort of wave their hand and pull out. And you can sort of see a window to where this is taking place. It's purely visual. You can't reach in and be there. But they're showing you what's happening adjacent, just outside. So one moment. Boop, boop, boop. So here's how this breaks down, essentially. There are horses that are a little faster, a little more spry, and they're going to be rolling with a plus, right?
Then there are horses that are just regular-ass horses. They roll at a zero. And then there are other horses that maybe have seen better days, and they're rolling with a negative. And that's how they're ranked. The odds on favorites here, right? So if, let's say, Efani bets on just a regular horse with no plus, and you win, you get a 3-to-1 payout, which means if you put down five gold, boom, you're getting 15, right? If you're betting on one of the sure things, it's a 1.5 payout. Because if you're betting on one with a plus two or something, it's like, well, you're pretty much hedging your bets.
Now, if you bet on a long shot, which is a negative one, negative two, something like that, you get a 5-to-1 payout. And if you bet on a horse that has a negative beyond that, it's a 10-to-1 payout. So would you like to hear the ponies? Yes, please. Okay. Little Primo is rolling with a negative one today, then there's Shaman followed up with a plus zero. Fleet Feet, aka Sparkle Horse, is rolling with a negative two. Smoochie. Thank you. You're welcome. Smoochie with a plus two, Coughing Gambit with a plus two, and Last Chance with a plus zero. I'm going to go with Little Primo, just because I love that name.
Little Primo. You're putting down five? Not betting actual money, but I'm betting on Sparkle Horse. I thought you might. In spirit, I'm betting. All right. So, Ephni's going to sidle up to this table here and place a bet. And here's what we're going to do. This is... So, picture this as a big oval racetrack, right? As a matter of fact, I could show you guys with a map. Whoa. They haven't really gotten the blood out. You never really get the blood out. You don't want to put in carpets either, because it's going to be a lot of horse poop. Yeah. No, Valus's blood would be underneath.
Oh. It keeps getting worse. What we're going to do is we're going to run right down this list. Now, picture they have to run 60 spaces, essentially, to do a complete lap of this circuit. So, what we're going to do is we're going to have them roll each time their turn comes up. We're going to have them roll a D6 plus their modifier. Whoever makes it the 60 spaces first wins the race. Are we ready? Wait, wait, wait, wait. I want to bet on this too. Oh, okay. Here we go. I was like, someone else needs to bet. And someone needs to bet on something that's not Jane's so that we can have a healthy competition.
I'm going for Last Chance. Last Chance? Nice. Yep. And I'm going to put five. I'm just going to put five. All right. No one for Fleet Feet. It's too easy. Let's go for a long shot. And Maric. I need my 20 or I do it too. All right. So, let's see here. First one to make it to 60 wins. Are we ready? So ready. All right. And they're going to, he's going to expand this so you can see, and it's kind of a blurry, a little blurry. It's not exactly a high def set, but like it's, it's like, okay, we're going to show you. And it looks like it's causing a strain on him a bit too.
Is it 480? Is that what we're working with? We're working with early YouTube tech. Like we're working with like 240p. Oh no, is it 240? Oh no. But you can... But you know what? Used to think that was amazing. So, this is some good shit. The fact that you don't have to go outside in the hot sun to watch this is amazing. Here we go. Start with Little Primo. That's four. Four spaces for Little Primo. Followed up by Shaman. Shaman's rolling a five. Oh wow. Okay. That's a great start. Yeah, damn. I love him. Fleet Feet. You have a bias. I do. That's exactly. Fleet Feet rolls a one.
Smoochie. He stands no chance. Oh my god. Yeah, it's going to be tough for Fleet Feet. Smoochie. That's a one plus two, so that's a three. That's embarrassing. That's not great considering such an odds-on favorite as Smoochie. Coughing Gambit's up next. Yeah, Coughing Gambit. With a seven. Holy lord. Good lord. And Last Chance bringing up the rear here but could break ahead. Don't do it. Don't do it. With a five. Wow. Okay, so. Wait, Jane, which one did you bet on? I can't remember. Little Primo. Alright. Can I know what color Last Chance and Little Primo are? I think it's really important.
Okay, Last Chance would be sort of in a red and Little Primo would be in sort of a light purple. Wait, purple horses? Well, I thought you were talking about how they're decorated. Oh, no. I meant the actual horses. Oh! Little Primo is more of a chestnut and Last Chance is sort of a white with light brown. Yay! Okay. Thank you. No problem. I love horses. Okay. Here we go again. Little Primo. Come on, Little Primo. Little Primo rolls a four. That's not bad though. Consistency is key. Yeah. That's kind of the thing, yeah. See, Shaman's up next rolling... Two and a boy. ...a five.
Oh, man. Okay. Fleet Feet up next. Fleet Feet with a one. Oh, Fleet Feet is not doing well. Smoochie. Smoochie rolling a six. Okay, can we get that? Can we get him tested? Something's wrong with that horse. Someone's giving him a roids in his oats. Coughing Gambit rolls an eight. That one too. Holy Lord. It's just like neck and neck and there's like veins popping, angry as fuck. Last Chance rolls a six. That's pretty good. Get out of here, Last Chance. So, so far on the board right now, we've got Coughing Gambit in the front, then we got right behind Last Chance, Shaman, Smoochie, and then Little Primo, and in the distant, distant six is Fleet Feet.
No. So far. That's so far though. Come on, Last Chance, let's go. Little Primo is going to roll a one. Oh, no. Oh, no. That one's not great. Shaman is going to roll a two. Started off too strong. Yup. It's a marathon, not a sprint. Fleet Feet with a three. Smoochie with a five. Coughing Gambit with a five. Hell yeah. Hell yeah. It's actually a known bet on Coughing Gambit. I would have. I bet these two horses, like, they're just bulging out of, like, their decoration and have mustaches. Have one of those horses. Last Chance with a six. Damn straight. Damn it. Come on, Last Chance.
So at the end of the round. Last Chance is the only one that actually trained for you. He has a pure heart. Oh my God. So let's see. Coughing Gambit still in the lead, followed by Last Chance. Then Smoochie, then Shaman, Little Primo, and then Fleet Feet. Now they're on a straightaway. We're going to start rolling d8s. Damn boy. This is legitimately exciting. Oh, Little Primo with a two. Oh, come on, man. I got money on you, Little Primo. Get your ass moving. Shaman rolling a five. Oh, did you pick Little Primo because it was little like you? Yeah. Aww. I love that we all picked horses that, like, we connect with.
Fleet Feet rolling a three. That brings up Smoochie. Smoochie rolling a nine. Jesus. Holy. Holy crap. That could be a game changer, guys. That's straightaway. You got to watch out for it. Coughing Gambit rolling a five. I like that you can kind of tell Jason researched horse racing. I really didn't. I've seen a race before, and I don't remember why. And Last Chance rolling a two. Oh. He tuckered himself out. No. I know. I know. I know. It's going to be okay, though. No hard in the turns. I should have juiced up like everyone else. One more in the straightaway. Little Primo rolling a four.
That's my boy. Shaman rolling a two. Goddammit, my boy. Stop saying my boy because it makes me think of the Legend of Zelda game. My boy. My boy. Fleet Feet rolling nothing. Oh, Jesus. Fleet Feet. You know what that is? That's when they find something on the ground and they're like, "Oh, let me eat this." Smoochie rolling a maximum of ten. Oh my God. Holy shit. Smoochie breaks away for the rest of the pack. Smoochador. Look at you go. Smoochador. Coughing Gambit rolling a seven. Yeah. And finally, Last Chance rolling a three. Poor guy. That was his last chance. They're going to shoot him after this one.
Oh, they're definitely killing Fleet Feet. I have to imagine that the reason Fleet Feet is at such a disadvantage is that they're an actual pony in a horse race. Holy Lord. Little Primo rolling a two. Oh, cutie. My little boy's getting tired. There he goes. Shaman rolling a six. Fleet Feet. Oh, no. Yeah. I'm, oh wow. A four. There you go. Fleet Feet getting a second wind. You know what? They had that snack break. I was paying for him to get a negative one. Like, just he walks backwards a little bit. He's really confused. Smoochie rolling an eight. Jesus. Damn. This horse, dude.
This horse wants it. Smoochie's a fucking champion. Yeah. Oh, boy. Coughing Gambit up next rolling a seven. Yeah, bud. This is tight. Oh, wow. Oh, right. He can't be beating Smoochie, right? Three. Actually, there's a combat tracker where you guys can watch the action all the way. What? Oh, what? Why didn't you tell us that? I didn't think about it. Last chance rolling a three. Look at them. Smooching and Coughing Gambit are like neck and neck. That's right, Smoochie. Coughing Gambit neck and neck followed a little behind by Shaman. Last chance and then you got Little Primo and finally in a distance sixth.
It's not as distant as you say it is. It's 41 to 14. Oh, it's like a behind Little Primo and I'm like, oh. Oh, yeah. It's not that distant. It's not great, but like, yeah. All right. One more time through and then we hit a straightaway. Down. Little Primo. Four. Oh, this is how bad. Damn. Attaboy. Then Shaman with a three. I can go. Then Fleet Feet with a four. Oh. Damn. That's the max he can roll. He's doing his best. Yes. Oh, wow. Smoochie with another eight. What? Fucking crazy. Fucking Smoochie. Yeah, I'm kind of hating Smoochie right now. Show off. There's a reason. There's a reason those horses are ranked the way they are.
Coughing Gambit with a five. Yeah. You're doing great, sweetie. And finally, Last Chance with a two. You're doing amazing, sweetie. I like to think that we're all sitting there in character saying all these and Clara's just like, I just love them. Look at that one. She's chestnut. Oh, yeah. That's absolutely what Kaluna's focusing on. He's like, oh, look at the colors. Here we go, guys. Final straightaway. This is when the jockeys are just going nuts. They're like, come on. We got to go. We're going to roll D10s. For all the jockeys gnomes, because that would make so much sense, it hurts.
Not all of them. Some are halflings. Of course they are. Of course they are. It's about lightness, guys. It's about... Little Primo, here we go. Come on, Little Primo. Come on, buddy. From behind. You can do it. Seven for Little Primo. What is that shit right there? Yeah. Yeah, boy. We all believe in you, Little Primo. Very nice. Let's see. Shaman. Shaman with a nine. Oh, fucking hell. I wish I had already used all my money. You could have gotten more. Fleet feet rolls a 10 with a negative. That's an eight. Could we be seeing a resurgence of fleet feet? Go, fleet feet, go.
Smoochie. Smoochie rolling a 10. Oh, my God. He's almost there. Jesus. It's like a third place trophy. Coughing Gambit with a six. Oh, no. Still could win. That's true. Smoochie could twist an ankle or something. Oh, no. That's when they get shot. Oh, boy. Howdy. And finally, Last Chance with a six. They probably have a really humane magical way of killing the horses. We're fixing their ankles. Yeah. You guys are jumping way, way ahead. Listen, I'm just basing this off of a real horse racing. So here's what's going to happen. They're still on this last straightaway here.
So we're going to roll again. Now, let's say we're not doing it in order so of Coughing Gambit cross the finish line first. It's whoever has the highest number at the end of the roll. That's how we're doing it. So here we go. Oh, boy. Little primo with a 10. That brings it down to a nine. Nice. That's gorgeous. Shannon rolling a four. So right now, for those of you guys at home, it is Smoochie in the lead, followed right behind by Coughing Gambit, then Shaman, then Little Primo, then Last Chance, then Fleet Feet not so far behind this time. That brings up Fleet Feet.
Oh. Right back down there. Oh, no. Easily tried. Poor Fleet Feet. That's a negative one, everybody at home. Do both of Fleet Feet's eyes point in the same direction? Do you see a little, you got that blank stare kind of going? Here comes Smoochie. That's interesting. Wow. That's a four, which means he does cross the finish line, but we're not done the race yet. So maybe someone beats Smoochie to it. Coughing Gambit's up next. Can he get an eight? Can he do it? That's a ten. It's not enough to win, but yay. It's not quite enough. It's right there. Not quite enough. And then finally, Last Chance.
That is a seven for Last Chance. So that's a pretty good showing. So Smoochie, Smoochie's going to win today's race, everybody. Yay, Smoochie. I like clapping. Golf claps. I'm clapping because you're still a horse. Yay. I'm doing the Dumbledore clap from like Sorcerer's Stone. Oh, my God. I kind of want to go and rescue Fleet Feet. You gave it a better life. Yeah. So how's everyone doing? Everyone having fun? Sweet. Yeah, it's so good. I'm ready to get knocked out by a Minotaur. I'm also ready for you to get knocked out by a Minotaur. So let me ask you a question.
Is anyone else putting in for this beyond Clorra? Is anyone is because is this a thing that multiple people want to try or is this like, no, have at it? No, man. Have at it. I'm broke. I'd like to remind people who are not Poluna that y'all have actual gold that y'all could use if you wanted to. It's true. Yeah, we do. I don't see. I feel like Elrath, like, would do that. But then if she doesn't have, like, the Vegas gold or whatever, she'd honestly sit and think and just be like, you almost died today. Maybe sit this one out. You've been almost dying for about two weeks.
Yeah, but today she just got better. Yeah. So while normally that would be like, God, I just want to punch something in the fucking face. She's like, you know what? I've had some time to think and really mature like a fine wine. So she just wants to, like, be in your corner and be like, all right, champ, let's go. Yeah, I've been around. She'll definitely do. You can be my manager. That's what you can. I'm going to be your hype man. You can be my Paul Heyman. Yes. I know roughly things. Yeah. Yeah. Valerie referenced wrestling like it's like it was something from like 20 years ago.
And I'm like, how do you know that? She said something about gold dust. And I'm like, yeah. And it's like, why do you know that? Did you know gold dust offered to get breast implants for a million dollars? Yeah. Just just because he's wacky like that. Yeah. It really helped the character. I love that. That Valerie, always full of surprises. I have a question about the casino. OK. Is if Merrick were to get some food and drink for the table for everybody, would that come out of the credits or would that have to be paid for separately? You could take it out of the credits.
Sweet. All right. Yes, do it. So you're signing up for this. You're signing up for the surprise fight. Yes. And the person would run down this list of disclaimers. It's like, OK, we are not responsible for any personal injury occurs while doing the thing. Just just making sure it's like you understand you are stepping in the ring with a seven and a half foot minotaur who is undefeated. Please sign all of these papers that state that we are not responsible. You agree to these terms. Is there a Therian version of a mouthguard? Yes. I would like one. OK. Question.
Yes. Is there any sort of like insider tips I could give her for sparring fighting with a minotaur? Well, now, here's the thing. I mean, given Elaraf's backstory. Yes. I was about to say, you know what? Let's give punch him real hard. Punch him real like. We're like there's like a soft spot on their left. Shake, you know, or something. I don't know. Minotaur terms. Give me a nature check. Oh, fuck me. OK. Sure. Hey, yeah. Yeah. So obviously, speed is going to be your friend, right? You're going to be faster than this than this minotaur. So that's that's what you're going to want to lean into.
And you don't want to punch a minotaur's upper body, maybe the face. But what you're going to be what you're going to be shooting for here is this. They got a soft underbelly type of thing. So you're going for gut punches all day. Just try and take the air out of them. That's what you're after. All right. Is there any other advice I could give her with the club of fighting? Or would that kind of follow along that same thing? I'd say it falls along that same thing. She's got some kind of special. So like unless you've got some kind of special insider information about this specific minotaur.
Oh, no, I don't think I do. Right. But what you're doing is you're signing up for this fight for a little later. It's going to be in a few hours. It's going to be this evening. So you can you can roam around the casino and and and stuff until then. But they're just it's like, OK, we got our main event for the night. Nice. I have a main event. I am one of like seven people who signed up for the night. Actually, no one has signed up for this. Yeah, I figured most people would go. A big. Yeah, I figured most people would go, hmm, a big minotaur, you say? No, thank you.
Clara is doing it in Elaras spirit. Yes. Is there someplace you guys do you want to do more gambling? Is there something you call us at something about drawing or writing? Oh, no. Kaluna is writing a very detailed letter. It's just like, yo, here's what I've been up to. And it's just it is so long. It is multiple pages to anyone specific. Yes. You all may be familiar with someone by the name of Astor. Oh, they're getting the letter. They might not actually get it, but it's being sent to them. Anyone else doing anything? I want to look around, like at the architecture and like, I don't know, just kind of like scoping the place out in a way.
Like, is there anything that stands out or is interesting or weird or I mean, it's all been great up to this point and really cool. But is there anything weird or out of place? Do me a favor. Roll perception. Merrick. Merrick is weird and out of place. That's a five. Yeah, that's not going to do much. Yeah. I mean, all this is a little weird and out of place in terms of it being so gaudy and loud and that people waiting on your hand and foot. It's very friendly. There are no fistfights. You know, there's like a like an alcohol section of the casino. There's a bar and stuff like that.
But there's no there's no, you know, rowdiness. There's no loudness. It's it's all very, very clean, actually. Well, at this point, Merrick's going to make sure that there's enough food at the table for everybody to to have a good meal. And is there a chance that they would be able to have like a little like a birthday song, you know, where that where all the wait staff come out and sing? I mean, if you pay them. Well, yeah. Well, so Merrick's going to take care. He's going to ask them to come out and do that for Elorath at some point. Why? I hate you. Because no, because that's the best he can do whenever there's been because of all of the hard stuff that we've had to go through the past few days.
So this is a special little fun moment. Yeah. Like, like everyone clapping. Well, we heard you almost died, but now you are alive and they just kind of keep it going. Just something special. It doesn't they don't have to sing Happy Birthday, but the point is, is to have them bring out like a special dessert or something. Oh, big fancy thing with with sparklers on it or something. Oh, dude, they OK? Sure. He's into it now. Oh, so you say yes. OK, well, then what does sparklers? Oh, sparklers did. Oh, sparklers did it. OK. Shiny. That's just something for, you know, the trouble we've come through.
She would be so embarrassed, but also kind of into it. Nice. Yeah. That's one of those things that's like, OK, you slip them like five, 10 gold, something like that. And they'd hook you up with like a nice dessert and the whole shebang and everybody coming out. Yeah. OK, awesome. So, yeah, that's it. OK. And you said you're going to spring for some food for the group. Yeah, I'm going to try. I mean, use the credits because I don't have any money to spring. We take 10 total away from everything and that'll take care of food and such for now. Perfect. Interesting.
So this is I want to see a thing. Oh, no, I just wanted to see a thing. So, OK, they're going to bring this dessert out and they're there. It's going to there's going to be a person trailing behind like, like kind of a little little like tap, tap, tap, little sparklers and stuff like that in midair, kind of think a really lame version of the fireworks that Gandalf were shooting. So they're going to be clapping and making a bunch of noises like that type of thing. How would Elarath react to this? Her eyes are so big right now. And at first she's like really startled and like, no, no, no.
And then if they see the sparkle, she's like, oh, what is that? Like playing along, but like, oh, OK, I only kind of like this. Kaluna joins in very enthusiastically, like they don't know the words or anything, but they're like, yeah. Evelyn's clapping off beat with him. He's trying though. Kaluna will try and help him as best they can. Like, no, OK, with me. No, OK, OK, try again. Do I just don't? Oh, I like the scene from Mr. Holland's Opus. No one's going to get that reference. I recognize the name. I actually legitimately love that movie. It's fine. It's a great movie.
Right. Thank you. When he's like signing like beautiful, beautiful. Every time because I'm deaf and I love it. Kaluna, do me a favor. Roll perception. Oh, shit. Oh, no. I don't I don't like that it's me specifically. Well, the most you're going to get out of this is most people kind of raise their heads and look around for a little bit. There will be someone who just walks clean out of the place like I apparently it annoyed them or or something. And it's basically just like when it happens in any restaurant. Yeah. It's like, oh, my God, I got to go to the bathroom, get away from this cringe.
Kaluna will absolutely just like make faces that everyone just like stick their tongue out like you don't like fun. You guys want to let some hours pass and get to this little fight? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. It is the twenty third of yester still, but it is now evening. The sun has set. It is time for a fight. Everybody better than. Clara, are you ready for this? So fucking ready. I have added you to the initiative tracker. Oh, yeah. Everybody can kind of keep an eye on this now. There's nothing about there's nothing about Clara that is necessarily built for bare knuckle boxing, though.
She has been training with Ella. Yes. So what we're going to be doing is we're each going to have you guys roll strength checks for every round. Right. OK. And that's basically to see if you hit each other. If you do, then we're going to roll damage every third round. We're going to roll a Dex check to see if someone gets an extra turn. OK. That sound fair? Yes. OK. So they're going to introduce you to and they're going to get a little bit of a tale of the tape thing going for everybody at home. Would you tell everybody how how tall Clara Clara is and and roughly about like what what Clara looks like going into the ring here?
Clara is five foot six inches tall. Thankfully, I wrote that down. I imagine that because they're inside and it's nighttime, she's taken off all of her like covering and also her friends not dying anymore. So she doesn't need to protect herself because she she hasn't taken that off for a while. But so she actually has her face out and everything. She has red hair with a blonde streak going through it. Blue eyes and light, light, light gray skin. Like not white. She's not she's not underground draw anymore. So it has tanned a little bit, but like very light gray.
And I just kind of like jumping around because she knows that that's the only way she's doing. And kind of Brock Lesnar bounces, you know, the titty bounces that he does and kind of like shadow boxing kind of thing. And she's wearing a mouth guard because she is that vein. And there's a reason she wears all the covering that she does. So Talani Kane is a seven foot four minotaur, dark brown fur. One of her horns looks to have been broken off at some point. So the left horn is just kind of snapped and she's large. I don't know how else to put it. She's she's pretty big.
If you were to guess, probably in the area of three hundred seventy five, maybe four hundred pounds, somewhere in there. Big. And she's going to square off and and you know, you guys got your your hands ready to go and everything like that. Again, it's bare knuckles. So she's going to hold. She's going to hold her fist out like it's like, OK, bump it. Let's go. Let's do this. Clara will definitely give like a bro nod and bump the bump. It like she's very friendly. Like this is for fun. The look on these faces, this is not for fun. This is then Clara will probably match that then.
Like she won't go in like all goofy and so. So let me ask a question. Is everybody here at ringside? Yeah. Yeah, absolutely. Just hooting and hollering as loudly as possible. Even before the fight has begun, just. It's going to hurt. There's a there's one final thing I got to ask before we do this. They are taking bets at ringside. Ten on the minotaur. Wow. Ten on the minotaur. Oh, I was making a joke because Kaluna doesn't have money, but they have like springs of leaves. No, it's mostly money. Yeah. Thank you. What's the what's the return? Double if you if you if you win.
Ten on the minotaur. It's going to be less for the minotaur than if you bet on me. I feel like there should be a favorite here. Well, here's the thing. They it's to give the perceptions like, hey, man, everyone's got an equal chance to you know what I mean? And I'll have a great day. No, they do not. Any day another minotaur is going to come here and it will be an equal chance. All right. Anybody else betting? I'm going to put five on Clara. All right. Thank you. Welcome. I'll pay you back later. Anyone else? Wait, wait, wait, wait. How much do you have a record of how much I have?
Yeah, it's on your character sheet, actually. Well, that's great. I'm going to look at that. So I have the 53 tokens are yours and then the the 10 tokens remaining were for food and such. You separated. Great, great, great, great, great. Oh, also, Clara took out all of her piercings. Smart. She's not an idiot. Take off your glasses. Don't forget. Wait a minute. So I'm going to put 20 on the minotaur, not 10. 20. Yeah. The reason for that is because I'm trying to get some money for basis. The temple. That makes sense. You're going to feel real silly when I win. Good.
It's for a good cause. No offense. No offense to you. This is, of course, interesting. OK, so you got a big crowd around here and they're all going to. Everyone basically stops gambling to gamble on this new thing. This is a new this new thing to gamble on. All right. Let's do this. So the bell's going to ring and to tell he's going to square up here with Clara. Clara, do me a favor. Give me a strength check. Oh, shoot. OK, that's a four to ten. OK, so that is OK. I was going to hurt. So that's a D4 plus two. That's five damage to Clara. OK. All right. Give me another strength check.
Yeah. There you go. 16 to her eight. Do me a favor. Roll a D4 plus two to four. Six six damage. So, OK, right off the bat, Talya is going to square off and just slam right into right into Clara's upper body and Clara is going to turn around and just kind of just underhook that that that soft midsection there for six. Boom. Very nice. Give me another strength check. Ooh, excellent. Versus her 12. Do me a favor of the D4 plus two. Damn. Another five damage. So right off the bat, like it's a holy shit. I did not expect this. This did not expect this drow to come in this this hot and heavy.
Do me a favor. Give me a Dex check. Seven. OK, so she got 13. She's going to she's going to get two strength checks this round. Do me a favor. Give me a strength check. 21 versus her 21. Wow. You both hit each other. All right. That's a five to Clara. It's a four to. All right. That's a four to Talya. Talya. I was looking at it like fuck. She's also going to get another strength check. Oh, that'll hit. Ouch. Six damage. Oh, I tried. Good Lord. That's so fun fact. Clara has done more damage to tell a lot even any challenger has thus far. Specifically in such a short amount of time.
Because usually people drop a lot faster. You you actually bloodied your blood eater. Damn, dude. Nice. And after the fight, people come in and like, it's like, OK, OK, OK, let's let's make sure you're all right. I imagine. You know what? Let's see. Let's see. Remember the the on a scale of one to ten, how messed up with Clara's face in this case, do me a favor, roll a d10. Ten being the highest, one being you don't even bruise. OK. Don't forget, I'm wearing that mouth guard. Yes. You're not going to lose teeth. I swear. Yeah. All right. Not bad. It's like some swelling and puffiness around the eyes and nose just a tiny bit, but like nothing.
No, like cuts or like like your eyes swollen shut. Nothing like that. No, Rocky. Boy, so I guess we got to pay out to Merrick. I guess it feels evil, but like, you know what? This is that Clara planned this, you know? Yes. Yeah. I wonder about it. But you percent on purpose, just so Merrick wouldn't look bad. You made it look really good. That's a really good idea. No, no. The fights do not. Well, I'm just saying if we if like Adelyn went in there and like dropped to the ground after a couple of hits, then they put all this twice in a row to one group. They could notice they wouldn't notice that because this is depends on the performance, I suppose.
You want to send everyone in the bluff? Evelyn's at the table eating. It was a fight, huh? Fine, fine. I assume he could see it from where he was. Kaluna would like to if if Talati is not like gone, Kaluna would like to like go and be like, you are so good at fighting. Just just very much like gushing, like you are so cool. You are so big and so cool. And you punch good. Genuinely impressed. Just like, wow. And she'd be like, thanks. Do you want an autograph or something? Kaluna is going to like squint and tilt their head. What's an autograph? And she's going to lower her head.
Do you want me to sign something? Do you want me to? Most people do when they walk up like that. I'm sorry. Kaluna is just like, what good is that? I mean, we we met you. What is what does writing anything on paper? Is that valuable? And she's going to kind of like smile and almost like pat on the shoulder. It's like, OK, and just start to back away. Kaluna is going to like stand there for a second, watch her back off, kind of like a dog that just got kicked or something, kind of like go back to Merrick and be like, what did we do wrong? Why didn't we? All right.
After that, I want Merrick and Kaluna to do me a favor. Oh, boy. Oh, wait, hold on a second. Merrick, Kaluna and Elarath. Do me a favor. Roll a perception check. Why did we just get pocketed? Oh, oh. Oh, there you go. Oh, wait. That was a 20. Yeah, that was a 20. I saw that 20. This table sometimes. It's usually with Jasper. It is usually is usually with you. What did you do, Jasper? What did you do to the table? I don't know what you're talking about. Huh? You ever not see somebody for a while and then you you see them and you go, oh, wow, it took me a few seconds.
You changed this or you did this thing with your hair or something like that. It's going to take Elarath a few moments. But towards the back here, outside the crowd near the door that would lead back to the lobby and across to the bar, Elarath's going to spot someone with this kind of ratty looking beard and longer hair. And that's what's throwing Elarath off because the last time she saw him didn't have that. And it's going to be Poteutillo. What? Oh, now I'm extra mad. And just he's going to be watching this and then just like shake his head and leave the room after after the fight's concluded.
Oh, he's disappointed in me. Oh, she's going to follow him. Like she's going to go after him, like po and like start walking after him. And she'll say that out loud. Right. OK. We would hear that. We would hear po. It's a crowd, probably, probably. So maybe, you know what? Yeah. Do me a favor. Call in America. Everyone actually is Elarath close by when she yells it. I feel like she would have been actually by Clara helping her like clean up and stuff. So she'd be right by Clara. So wherever the other guys are in comparison to that. So pretty close, I'd imagine. Yeah.
Because she wouldn't want to leave class. Like, oh, you know, just like giving her compliments and stuff, just be like, man, you really fought real good and like you bobbed and you did that. And she's like, you know, so I'd say they don't hear it. Yeah. They don't hear you call. Yeah, probably. Clara would probably stand up to follow just because where are you going? Like that kind of like obviously po doesn't really register, but Elarath wandering away would. Yeah, I do. I think Kaluna knows too many people to be like, oh, clearly she means po to Tillo.
Clearly. But they'd still be like, hey, hey, what's up? Are we doing a conga line? Let's go. So if you call out po's name, he would stop probably by the time you get to the lobby. OK. And he'd he'd turn around. And he almost looks like not disappointed to see you, but just like I didn't expect to run into anybody here is more the is more look. What are you doing here? I got like real sick and my friends here had me get healed. What are you doing here? We haven't seen you in like two years. Where have you been? He's going to look at the rest of the party. You're OK now, though, right?
Yeah. Yeah. Come on. I'll buy you guys a drink. And he'd be kind of motioning toward the bar. OK. She'd follow like a look at the group segment. All right. So he would he'd get everybody around to drinks and, you know, just kind of have everybody sit down at the one of those one of the large like spherical table type things, not a booth because there's too many people. And the first the first thing he's going to say is. Really sorry, Elrath, but I kind of had to get out of there. Why? Because I wasn't doing any good anymore. And I just kind of wanted to go to someplace where I wouldn't be in the way.
And I figured on the call is as good a place as any. At this point, I think you all would start to notice this is probably not his first drink of the day. Oh boy. Probably not his third or fourth drink. Yeah. Oh, no. I mean, I think that's a good thing. I mean, I think that's a good thing. I mean, I think that's a good thing. I mean, I think that's a good thing. Oh, then Kaluna is going to like actually like, OK, nice seeing you. And they're going to leave. I get that. Yeah, Po would just kind of like you can see where he's almost he's almost getting ready to say something and just doesn't and and let's Kaluna go.
Let's let's get some water for the table there. It's going to try to motion to somebody to bring some like a big old pitcher of water. Yeah, they would. So how long you been in on a call here, Po? It's been a while now. About two years almost. Wait, how long have the Alandran been here? About a year and some change. So what did you do for? Come on, spill it. What's you know, you got a year and own a call before the Alandran even show up. Certainly wasn't this. Well, after everyone took off, I waited around a while to get some word. And when I finally did get word, I didn't really like what I heard.
So I checked in with Tessia and decided to help with some of the rebuilding efforts down south. Sounds like you were completely not valuable if you were helping with some rebuilding. So they let you stay. That what happened? Yeah, pretty much. I help out around here and I also have connections up north so they get supplies when they need them. OK, well. So how have you been after the seal and all that? The seal was just a moment where we all sort of came together and then we all sort of fell apart, you know? And here we are. Nothing's changed. He's going to take another drink.
See, the way I heard it, everyone didn't exactly come together. Not not the moment of truth anyway. Well, I mean, moment of truth. I don't know if it was really much of a moment of truth. It was a it was a nice fireworks, right? You know, that's about all there was to it. And no, we weren't all together, but we were there. Where were you? Oh, he's going to glare at Merrick. Has just some fireworks, huh? He's going to take another drink and then come back to Elorath. So what are you guys going to do that now that you're now that you're feeling better? I don't know.
I think we were going to try and figure out if people needed like help and stuff, because I haven't heard anything from like Liara in a while. And, you know, and we were delivering some supplies when I got sick. So I'm not quite sure. And she'll probably look at, you know, the others. Because her thoughts lately have just been like, I hope I don't die. It hasn't primarily been like, well, what will happen? Well, I don't think the ravens are even in commission right now. I haven't heard from Liara in months. Yeah, me neither. And she's going to look kind of like sad.
Just like, yeah. And he's going to he's going to kind of read the room just a little bit. But hey, it's it's really good to see you again. And I'll get you another drink if you want. Merrick's going to feel bad because that that moment wasn't really very nice, but felt like Merrick felt like he was he was poking a little bit about how they weren't all on the same page. Right. And, you know, that wasn't a nice moment for Merrick up at the at the seal, honestly, because he felt well, he just felt fractured while everybody was there. So he poked back. But he's gone through some shit and his best friend's gone and and he's not in a good space.
So Merrick feels bad. So whenever whenever Poe says, I'll get everybody another drink, he, Merrick's going to actually start to stand up and he's going to motion to Poe. Like, no, I'll help you. I'll help you. And start motioning towards the bar. Like, let's go get another round or something. Yeah, he'd go he'd go with Merrick again, kind of tentatively, just like, all right, that's OK. Merrick will not in a hug, but he'll put his hand sort of arm on it on his back as they're walking up, you know, like like there. There you go, buddy. You know, come on. We got this.
And he's going to say, listen, it feels like maybe you've seen better days. And I don't know, maybe this is the place for you, but I'll tell you, there were some of us at the seal and no, it wasn't that we were all together. Some of us wanted one thing. Some of us wanted another. Some of us didn't know what they wanted. But I'm going to tell you, there was one person who knew what they wanted to do, and she's the bravest person I've ever seen. And it was awe inspiring what she did at the seal. And you need to know that. Well, that's really nice of you to say.
It took a while for it took a while for me to hear anything, actually. I got to ask you a question, Merrick, and I really need you to be honest with me right now. Can you do that? Yeah, yeah. Sure thing. Sure thing. Did you want to push her to do it? Merrick's going to turn square with Poe and he's going to put his hand on his shoulder and he's going to look straight at his face and kind of try to capture his gaze. And he's going to say, do you think for a second that anyone could push Bree to do anything that Bree didn't want? See, a while back, the knee jerk answer would be no.
But when it came to Una, I think it was a different story. And I think Una knew what Una wanted. Una has always known what she wanted, whether it changed from moment to moment. She was always very vocal and it's always let everybody know what she wanted. But I'll tell you one thing. When it comes to that moment, Bree's the one who stepped in. Bree's the one who made it happen the way she wanted to. I'm going to be honest. Una didn't protest. She didn't try to stop her. And I think it's because she knew that Bree had made up her mind in a single moment. There was no fighting.
There was no please don't. Bree owned that moment. Did you see the light? Yeah, I saw it. That was her. That was Bree. So you saw her. And that's what she wanted you to see and everybody. So whatever story you've got about Una, and I get it, there's lots of stories about Una that a lot of people have. This wasn't one of them. Now, you want brown liquor or do you want a pitcher of wine? Brown liquor is fine. Alright, Merrick's going to go get basically a whatever bottle, like a whole bottle, like a whatever it would be, like a Jack Daniels type, like a handle a Jack or something and bring it back to the table for everybody.
And I would imagine this would this would kind of go on like sharing drinks, maybe a couple of stories, something like that. And you could tell the guy's working through some stuff. And he's probably not doing it in the healthiest of ways. But he does lean over to Elorath at one point. And he does say, look, if you're still looking to help some people out, I might have some people that might need might need it. Okay. What, what do they need? Protection, mostly, but we could talk about it in the morning if you're still if you're still up for it. Yeah, I'd like that.
Does anyone else have anything they'd like to say before he gets up from the table and just sort of excuses himself? Nope. I don't think so. Yeah. Guys, I feel like that's a good time for us to stop for the night, because I feel like the next thing is going to take us a bit. Yeah. Okay. Oh, my God. We hope you enjoyed that episode. As you guys probably already know, we are supported by all the lovely folks over on Patreon. Last month, we did an entire theme on Halloween where we made every offering spooky themed, which featured the werewolf and the bestiary.
We did a what if section during the character chat, kind of a darkest timeline discussion, as well as a special bonus show that took place in Theria. This was a one shot that we ran and we also posted the Safe Haven Society. Usually those are going to be staggered out bi-monthly, but Jason really wanted to do a special Halloween themed episode. Here's a sampling of that adventure. Give me one more perception check. You're going to hear that lone swinging chain sound. At first, you thought maybe someone was shackled or maybe something was lurching toward you out of the darkness.
Because, you know, it's dark. Obviously, there are traps and your head starts messing with you a little bit. But this is just clearly distinctly the sound of one swinging chain coming from deeper in the basement somewhere. That Doppler effect is sort of ricocheting off the stone walls. If that sounded good to you and you'd like to hear more, go ahead and subscribe to us over on Patreon where we will be posting bi-monthly one-off games staggered along the bi-monthly Safe Haven Society episodes. But more importantly, your support goes to help this show right here and keep the lights on at the DNR office.
