I'm Jason, I'm the Dungeon Master. Going around the table, starting with Jameson. Hi, I'm Jameson and I play Larg, the half-orc paladin. And Karen. Hi, I'm Karen and I play Kali, the elven druid. And Alex. Hey, I'm Alex and I play Braelyn, the halfling bard. And Valerie. Hi, I'm Valerie and I play Elena, the human fighter. And Ian. Hey, I'm Ian and I play Cauldron Halec, whose magic, as heck, got Ice always on deck. If you step to him, you better come correct, because he's that half-elf frost mage reppin' that white dragon rage, top of the ivory peaks, sage flippin' scripts like a book page.

(LAUGHTER) Get out. Jesus. (LAUGHTER) Uh... Kaldin now has diarrhea. (LAUGHTER) Jamie! Mouth diarrhea, yeah, that's pretty appropriate. Hi, I'm Jamie, I play Tarsi. (LAUGHTER) The human rogue. (LAUGHTER) I wish that this was like a video game and it's a Mario's, like the Mario, was it Mario Bros. 2 we just talked about? Uh-huh. And you just stage select and then when you highlight Kaldin, he does, always something different happens. (LAUGHTER) You move the person to the right of him and they just give him this look like, "What the fuck are you doing?" (LAUGHTER) I couldn't resist.

I'm sorry, Jamie. (LAUGHTER) Oh, no, I was just playing. Well, I think that sets a perfect tone for this evening, 'cause I want you guys to keep your sense of humor. (SIGH) Your group, grouping, is, uh, as we discussed in the middle of the longest day. So far, today, the 11th of Yesti, it's now evening. But you have banished a demon from this realm using the Bell of Vecna. You've investigated the deserted town of Donhurst. Everyone appears to be either dead or, you know, they left town beforehand. And you're hiding from the Fang, who is, has infiltrated the city and is looking for that bell.

And that's all in one day. Man. Mm-hmm. Now, we left off, Trent is, has been bound and gagged, knocked unconscious, and placed in a closet. You are in a house across the street from the Soft Hound, which is a, uh, which is a bar in Donhurst. I guess to kick things off, I want to say that today's saving rolls are gonna either be your best friend or your worst enemy, because there are... Oh boy. Well, okay. The odds, as we said, are not in your favor, right? There's, you are outnumbered, uh, a lot. A lot too, five. A lot to six people here. So, what we're gonna be doing is to simulate the Fang moving throughout town and doing certain things, we're gonna be rolling, we're gonna be rolling some die, as we do in D&D.

So that keeps it from being an unfair thing that comes off as scripted or something that I'm stacking the deck against you guys. Does that sound fair? I mean, it's, yeah, it's dice, you know, that's D&D. All right, good. Dice is God. So to kick things off, uh, Jameson, can I get you to roll a flat d20 for me? I would love to. Thank you. That is a 16. Gorgeous. Nice. Is that for us or against us? I'm guessing four. High numbers are your friend. Let's just put it that way. So you guys are in this house, you've taken care of Trent, but they are across the street.

What's the group mentality here? What are you guys thinking? Well, do we have enough time to reconvene or is it like... Well, Trent was the lone person kind of investigating. Let's put it this way. There's a bar with free booze across the street. You probably got a little time. Okay. Point of order. I really want to know how the bar got the name the Soft Hound. And we never will. I guess maybe Largo will know. Yeah, he's our local historian. We can table that. Yeah, but you don't want to know. I think Cauldron would probably just be like, we have to keep moving.

We have to get out of here. We have to make it for the main gate. We can't stay here. Brandon's going to interrupt. We don't know how many guys are out there. Plus, what if they got people watching the only way in? Callie, can you still transform into an animal? I can. Ooh. That might be helpful. Either to get the horses to us or to do some kind of scout or something like that. I can definitely... Do we want to scout first? Because I can do that. Whoa, what time is it again, Jason? It's coming up on nightfall here. The sun's setting. Okay, so it's dark-ish. Not totally dark yet?

Yeah. Would you be a few minutes until darkness or a couple hours? You got a few minutes until darkness. Okay. Brandon will ask. I've never met a druid before, so I'm not really sure what you can turn into, but maybe something small? Is that possible? He's actually questioning. He doesn't know how it works. I can change myself into a fox. Okay, that's good. He's going to look to Mark. Are there foxes in town, usually? No. He's going to look down and he's going to look at the feet. That's a problem. I don't know. Maybe there's a fox race. Who knows? But a fox is small, so easy to jump from a hiding place to a hiding place.

That's very true. He's going to look to the rest of the group. I think that's a good idea. I mean, how long can you be an animal? Do you get tired afterwards? What happens? Hold on. I don't know. How long does B-shape last for? I think as long as I... Oh, a number of hours equal to half my druid level. So for like an hour. Well, an hour. I mean, if we can get out, we should get out before an hour for sure. No. Yeah, no. She'll just say, "I can do it for a little while, but we should make it as quick as possible." Cauldron will say, "Let's try and use the alleys and just make our way towards the gate as quietly as we can." And Calli can sort of be our eyes and ears.

And if we get caught or if one of us gets caught? I think Breland looks at the ground and then back up at Cauldron like, "Yeah, what happens then?" Then, well, I guess we'll cross that bridge when we come to it. We might be able to make some kind of diversion or something. Something to draw their eyes away. Do they get distracted pretty easily? I don't remember. He's going to look at Tatyana. I mean, you rolled with some of them. I know not all of them. Maybe not even all of them, but... How would they react if something else caught their attention? Are you asking Tatyana that?

Yeah, yeah. He's looking at her. Because he knows you knew Ripley. Maybe you might know some of the other guys. Right. Well, I think using common sense of what she's seen, she's probably going to look towards the bar and just be like, "Well, I mean, if we want to give it a little bit, I'm sure their concentration will be lacking in just a few." I have a question. What if we go in one of the houses they already checked? And just lay low, hoping they don't come back? He just kind of shrugs like, "Yeah, I mean, they're going to check every house twice?" I don't know.

When wolves are trying to hunt their prey, they can follow a scent. And it's the creature that moves the fastest, that gets out, that's able to keep moving, that stays alive. That's all I know. Jason, is it possible that we can, from the window of the second floor, we can see other houses that haven't looked at? Or can we see buildings around us? Or is the window kind of small? No, you could see out. Okay, Braylon's going to go check upstairs, look out the window. Kind of just, still with a large idea in mind, look for houses. Look for a way to see if these houses have been marked.

Like, "Oh, we put a red paint on the door. We checked this one already." Or do they just trash it and move on to the next one? Here's the problem. I wouldn't say that they're that organized. One, they did not enter Donhurst thinking this was going to be the setup. They did not expect a deserted city. So the beginning of their search was probably a lot more haphazard, more just like, "Okay, we're bound to run across somebody." And then the further they get into the city, the more it dawns on them. It's like, "This is deserted. This is weird." A lot of these doors have either been kicked open or something like that, which is a pretty clear indication that they have been there.

So, yeah, you could definitely see that at least the surrounding around the bar, up until the bar, they've been checking houses here. Okay. We're going to go back downstairs and look at Cauldin and Lark and say, "We should probably find a way to get that door open or something because they're going to think they haven't checked this one yet." Yeah, Cauldin opens the door. Tree! Quick question, Jason. Looking across the street at the bar, the front door of the bar, is that closed? No, it's wide open. Oh, they left it wide open? Okay. And I would say that as time goes on, you're going to see one or two extra Fang members go in there, until there's probably eight or nine.

It's one of those, "Oh, hey," that type of thing. As people wander by, it's like, "We're going to check the bar," that type of thing. This was the wrong place to hide. I love that. I think last session, all Lark did was the soft hound and just started walking. We were just like, "Cool, we'll go. We don't know what the soft hound is." And then Elena was like, "It's a fucking car!" Brellan will look for an alternate way out of this house. He's going to do a sweep. I don't think we really explored if there's a back door or something. In my head, I see this as a hobble, where it's kind of close together to another one.

Yeah, this is definitely maybe lower-income housing. This is a modest house. The fact that it has a second floor at all is kind of scrunched up. It's a two-bedroom type of thing. You could tell that probably a larger family was living here. It's like one of those Assassin's Creed from the French one. It's like the really tight quarter houses. Yeah, it's definitely kind of cramped a little bit. From the second floor, it looks like you could make it to the rooftops of the next building over with a little jump. You're tempting me, aren't you? No, I'm just letting you know what's out there.

I envision Brellan looking out this window, seeing himself do it, and standing on top like a superhero, and then he shakes his head. No, no, no. Not yet. So, going back to, is the fox thing something you'd like to do? I'm down doing it. It's just what everyone else wants to do. Would the idea be that you turn into a fox and you lead the way, but you wouldn't be able to communicate with us as a fox? We could shake your rump or something. Just twerk at us and we'll know that everything's okay. Yeah, yeah. I'm looking for that twerking fox. Why do I have this boner?

It's weird. I found out something about myself today. Oh, no. I'm very uncomfortable now. You don't kink Shane here. It's all good. Everything's fine. See, you don't want to hit on Trent. You don't want to twerk as a fox. I mean, yeah, what's wrong with you, Karen? Geez. Can't take one for the team. I'm sorry. What if you scout? I think scouting ahead would be good, right? And then come back and tell us what you saw. I don't know. That's a good idea. Yeah. Sorry, go ahead. No, you can go ahead. I'm thinking out loud to myself. Sorry. I think that I should at least run around and see what everyone's doing.

If it looks like they're all coming back to the bar, we should definitely get moving because we don't want to be here when all of them are here. Do you guys want to maybe start moving? If we've got these tiny little alleyways, maybe we can just start moving away from the bar and Callie can do a pass and come back to us just to let us know which ways are clear, basically. Yeah, that sounds good. Or do you want to wait for dark or something? Well, I can. I'll go scout. I'll come back and let you guys know what everyone's doing. And then from there we can decide if you want me to continue scouting in front of us as we're making our way out or if there's something else you guys think we should do based on what I see.

Okay. Cool. How many times can you become a FOSS? Twice. Oh, okay. Before I have to take a little bit of a break. Okay. So you can do it once. Look around, come back, turn back, tell us. And then we have the emergency use of FOSS just in case. Yes. Okay. That sounds cool. Okay. Let's FOSS it up. Okay. I think that I should leave my armor here because if somebody sees a FOSS wearing armor, that's going to bring up some questions. Oh, it turns with you. There's, there's, it's kind of complicated rules for Theria. No, this is one of those new ones? Yep. I'll wash your armor for you.

Okay. So I'm going to... You know what? She has no shame. She's just going to strip and she's going to turn into a FOSS. Okay. But you won't twerk. Nope. Book off. So Callie's going to strip down here and then turn into a FOSS and slink out the front door. So are you just doing basically cursory scouting of the, of the area around this house and then moving outward from there? Yeah, I think I want to, I want to definitely check around the house and then, and then maybe see how things are, because we're not too far from the entrance, right? You're, you're, you're, you're in a bit.

Like it would take a while to get back to the front gate. I wanted to see how like concentrated they were getting closer to the front of the city. So let's say you, you, you slink out the front door and, and off to the side of the house here, there's a, there's a little alley. If you're standing in the front door to the right, there's this, there's this thin alleyway, right? So ducking back there, this, this, this kind of stretches out where all these low income housing things are just kind of crammed together. And Callie is going to slink down these alleyways.

And right off the bat in her travel, she's going to find that there aren't, there aren't really any Fang members back here yet. So they're not in the alleyways. She's going to pass this, this entrance to like a sewer and then around the corner and definitely going to start seeing Fang members. Like if you're approaching like Main Street type of thing. And every once in a while, one of them will kind of spot the fox and just like, that's a thing, but nothing that would really garner attention. Every once in a while you like, they might throw a rock or something like that just to like be assholes.

Rude. Yeah. I'm yelling through, nope, I'm not going to go there. Do me a favor and roll a perception check. Okay. I'm good at perception. Ooh. So the closer you get to the front gate, the more concentrated the Fang are. Okay. And you're going to spot dozens of them by the front gate. And now you're getting to the point where you're spotting a couple of people on rooftops looking around with crossbows at the ready. You're also going to spot something else toward the front gate. You're going to spot a very familiar figure and that would be Ripley. Fuck it. Fuck.

Fucking knew it. Yes. I'm sitting here, I'm going, I wonder how bad Jamie is just like holding her breath right now. This is interesting for a few reasons, obviously, but what might be even more interesting is what he's doing. Callie is going to hear dogs barking and he is bending down and holding what appears to be some sort of handkerchief or something, maybe a scarf, something like that. And he is, he's letting these dogs get a good scent. And right now they're being led, they're on leashes, but there are four dogs and multiple members of the Fang are holding them back.

And instantly they're going to start barking and pulling and tugging and they're going to start to go into the city. Okay. What would Callie like to do here? I want to go back to my group. I want to do it fast. All right. So double timing it back. Could you do me a favor? Mm-hmm. Could you roll a flat T20 for me? Mm-hmm. Oh no! So that's a two. So what's going to happen is one of these dogs is going to slip off the leash. One of the Fang members is just going to lose. It's going to pull. And it's going to barrel down Main Street and bank down the alleyway. And it's going to start heading directly toward you.

Mm-hmm. And I'm guessing you're going to want to book it. Mm-hmm. So this dog is just losing its mind chasing you. Could you do me a favor? Could you roll an athletics check for me? Oh, good. I'm so good at these guys. Got it. That's a seven. So what I'm going to do is I'm going to roll a flat T20 for the dog. Mm-hmm. That's a 12. So this dog is going to barrel down the alley knocking shit down like apple crates and all kinds of stuff. And it is just there is no there's no grace or beauty to this. It is just bounding down this alley chasing after you. And it is going to start to nip at the back of Callie like almost almost hazard.

Mm-hmm. So you're coming back. You're coming back down. I would say you're you're almost back rounding the alley around the sewer and you're heading back toward the house. What would you like to do? Oh, good. Okay, this is a weird question. But like what as like Oh Fox. I don't know like about like animal stuff. Like would I be able to climb up the side of a house or something like well. The cool thing is you're you're a bit smaller than this dog and a bit more nimble. So there are places that you can squeeze into. So if you'd like to try and like let's say you know what let's let's roll a flat T20 see what your options would be in this alley.

That's a six. So you have two choices. One is that sewer that we talked about. Mm-hmm. And the other one let's say is bounding up on some some barrels and trying to shimmy in a window. And let's say that that's probably a good three or four blocks away from where your friends are. Let's go to the sewer. I feel like that's closer. Okay. Gonna get in the sewer. Gonna get so gross. Do me a favor roll one more athletics check. Okay. Oh, that's a five. So here's what's gonna happen. Gonna get eaten by a dog. Oh man. One. Okay. That's a one for me. So here's what's gonna happen.

Callie is going to round the corner and just look for the nearest tight spot. Right? Just just try to get away from this dog and going to shoot down this this this little this this little grate. And instantly it's not graceful. So just kind of slide off and downward. And kind of fall into some some unpleasantness here. Right? And there's gonna be a foul odor that hits you right away. And this dog is going to lose its mind. Just kind of run into the grate just barking trying to get to you. And you're gonna hear people approach. Chasing after this dog. What would you like to do?

Oh, you are definitely on the other side of this grate. You are free from this dog. The dog cannot get to you. Okay. But I just led them to my friends. This is going so good. How big is the sewer? Is it just like tiny? First of all, it's pretty dark. But the light that is coming in, it's fairly expansive. Like it looks like almost catacomb-y underneath. A little tight if you were in like person form. Like if you were if you were walking around, you'd have to duck down and stuff like that. But in your current fox form, it's plenty expansive enough. You can move around.

So like as like an escape route for the rest of the... You'd have to explore it a bit more to see if it leads anywhere, but it's definitely a place to hide. It's not a pleasant place to hide. But yeah. Yeah, I think I'll do that. I think if the dog is there and they're probably going to be like looking in and stuff like that, I would just... I'm gonna go look for sewer openings. Yeah. So covered... Probably I'd say at least your paws. Poopy. Yeah, just some unpleasantness, some filth, some gunk. Part of city living. Mm hmm. So Callie is gonna traipse on as a fox and just continue to go.

I'd say back up, back up topside. They're gonna get to this dog and see that it's barking at a sewer or something. And they are going to... They're going to assume that the dog is after a rat or something like that and just bring it back to the start and try to get the scent and start over again. Great. So the good news is that as you... It's like minutes are going to tick by and this goes on for a while and it's going to bank around and kind of curve. And you're going to hear the fang above you. Every once in a while you'll pass another grate, another entrance to the sewer.

And it's a real tight... It's kind of a tight squeeze. Again, if you were in a person form, it would be kind of... You'd have to shimmy in there. But it's not... It's not unfeasible for even people with armor to get in. Okay. I don't want to go too far because I do want to try to get back to the group before they get too far. I'm assuming... I'm assuming that they probably have like something of Tatiana's and they're looking for her. Mm hmm. I want to... Yeah, like I want to explore, but I don't want to get too, too far because I want to get back to the group.

Well, at a certain point you're going to hear those voices start to fade. Okay. At least you know that this goes on... This goes on for a while. And if you know anything about sewers, it's got to empty out somewhere. It's got to go somewhere, which would probably be outside the city. Okay. So again, feasibly, this is... This is a means of escape. A very unpleasant, disgusting means of escape. Awesome. So do you want to head back to the group? Yeah. Sorry. No. So let's say you go back to the original grate that you slipped down under. Are you going to transform and kind of...

Poop monsters. Sorry. I looked down and I looked back up and there were poop monsters. I'm going to wait to change back until I get inside the house. So I'd say it would take some doing. You probably had another few minutes to your journey here, but I'd say you'd be able to get back up the grate and back up on street level. Again, Paul's probably soaked. Probably up to about halfway up your leg. Okay. And you are going to slink back up the alleys and go back to the house. And I'm guessing you're going to transform after you get back there. I'm going to leave little paw prints of poop all over.

What an incredible smell you've discovered. I mean, like how much different is it than Trent, though? They're competing. Which send us stronger. So for the rest of the group, I would imagine probably something like 15, 20 minutes have ticked by. I'd say a few more Fang members have discovered the now open bar. And I would imagine you're watching them traipse in and out. And a tiny party maybe has started. And then eventually Callie is going to rejoin the group. She's going to change back. Just standing there covered in poop. Naked. Because I think she thinks she's just going to turn back.

So she's just like, what's the point? I'm getting dressed again. Braelyn hands her armor. He's like kind of like blushing. Here's your gear. She'll like hold it in front of her. So that way there's some modesty. So I think I found a way out. It's not very pleasant. But it should get us outside of the city. And we should probably move quickly. Because they are searching for someone. They had like this, I think it was like a scarf or something. And they were having dogs sniff it. So they were looking for dogs to sniff out somebody. Oh and she's just going to turn to look at Tatiana.

Ripley's here. Say what? No. Tatiana's going to like really quickly look around at the group. And she's going to say, are you kidding me? No. He's here and he is leading the dogs. Braelyn's going to look at Tatiana. Man, you weren't kidding. He is pretty slippery. Jesus, I can't fucking shake this guy. But I'm assuming that maybe he has somebody of yours and he's looking for you. Because they kind of knew we were coming here, right? I mean, I guess. That's probably why they got here so fast. If he figured we were going to be coming here to claim the bell, he'd probably put a fire under the rest of the fang after we passed them.

Well, we can deal with that later. Kali, lead the way. This place out. Let's go. Okay. I'm going to change back into my fox. Can somebody carry my bag? I'll hold it. Okay. Just shove all her gear inside her bag and give it to you and then change back into her fox and lead the way. Before we leave, Braelyn's going to open the closet door to look at Trent. Is he awake? Not yet, no. I'll hit him one more time with the... Just to be sure. Poor concussed Trent. He's not going to get more concussed. No, now he's just going to die from blunt forth from. I control my attack.

You give him like a customary, just like a boop on the head, like a coup, counting coup. So you guys are slipping out of here? To the sewers! Yeah, Lurg is going to go last because he is not quiet and everybody else should have a chance to get away if he gets found. Oh. So let's do this. Hmm. Keldon. Yeah. Could you do me a favor and roll a flat T20? Yes, sir. Oh, excellent. That's good stuff. So you guys are going to slip out of this house. I would imagine you're all waiting for, you know, at this point it's cover of night. So that's going to help. And I would imagine you're waiting for a point where you haven't seen a Fang member come near the bar or anything like that.

And you're going to slip out of this house and down this alleyway. And you're going to start to hear those dogs approach. And I would say you're going to reach this sewer grate. Just in time to hear one of the dogs start to come down the alleyway, but around the corner. So you probably got a minute or two before it's on top of you. Oh, so we see the dog come out? You don't see the dog. You hear it, definitely. It's one of those things where the doppler effect, you can hear it around the corner. You definitely know it's closing in though. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

How many of us can we get in there in a minute? I mean, I'm already in. Peace. Sorry, I got your clothes though. I can get you a new clothes. Oh, okay. I am going to, this is what I'd like to do. We hear this dog. I would like to, Cauldron is going to look out across the alley and I would like to burn a spell slot to shoot magic missiles, which is three projectiles, like three icicles to make sound away from us. The spell has some range, so like 120 feet away from us to confuse this dog. Okay. Yeah, okay. We can do that. So just essentially just trying to make sound away from you, just trying to throw some noise down the alleyway here to get the dog's attention or the Fang member's attention, something like that.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Can I help him with that? I would think I can distract as well, but not as good as Cauldron. Is there any way I can throw my voice? I am a performer. I don't think I've done any ventriloquist type things. But like make it sound like someone is like tripping. You know when someone stumbles they make that weird noise when they're going to fall, like in all those YouTube videos of people falling over and over again. I would say that would be a performance check. Okay. I can do it? Give it a try. Okay. Well. La-di-da. 24. So that is almost a crit, my friend.

Yes. So what I'm gonna say that happens is like it's gonna sound like these magic missiles are gonna go off and it's gonna kind of ricochet at the other end of this alley. And then it's gonna sound like someone has either been struck with these or is falling down as a result. And it's probably gonna knock over some, you know, some barrels and some crates, boxes, things like that. Just make an abundance of noise away from you. Are you slipping down this sewer grate? Yep. Yes. Yes. He's rolling in. He's like, "Hup! Just roll down." Cullen slides in as life as he can.

I think Tatiana would probably wait until everybody else jumped down since she can only assume based on what Callie said that the dogs are smelling her. So she would wait to make sure that everybody else is down there first and safe before she jumped in. Got it. Well. That distraction is gonna buy you enough time to get the party into the sewer. So again, this is a little tight. If you're someone like Larg or something like that, you're probably gonna have to duck down a bit. Kind of hunch over. Think of it as like a really unfinished basement. That type of thing.

It's pretty damn dark down here. But there is a way in front of you that you're gonna see. And I would say that there's sort of a... Boy, how can I phrase this in a way that isn't disgusting? Think of it as a stream that's flowing. Yeah, think of it like that. And then there's this little... There's this little curb on either side of it. That you can kind of straddle the stream and walk down it. But it's kind of hunched over and uncomfortable. I climb on Larg's back. Then you would be scraping along the ceiling. Oh, my hair! I get down. I accept my poop fate.

I can taste it. I can taste it in my mouth. It's... Oh, man, the smell is terrible. And someone like Brelyn probably doesn't have the reach to straddle it. Oh, no! Oh, my grandma gave me this, too. Tatiana's just standing there like, "My new armor, man!" Larg puts his helmet on in hopes that it would stop the smell a little bit. I'll do the handkerchief thing again before it gets stained. Yeah, I'll put a little rag around her face and be like, "Let's just get to the edge of the city." Is Calli still a fox? Thanks for the great idea, Calli. I really appreciate it.

So, it's gonna take... I imagine someone likes a torch or something like that. And you are going to slowly make your way underneath Donhurst. And you're going to hear the fang above you. It's gonna be, you know, faded, kinda muffled. But you will hear them above you, and as minutes tick by, that's gonna get fainter and fainter. And it's kind of a maze, but you know you're on the right track when those voices kinda fade away. And eventually, I'm gonna say 10, 15 minutes of this, you are going to... You're gonna hear water. And at the end of this tunnel, you're gonna see some bushes.

Did we Andy Dufresne this? 500 yards. Do we get a Morgan Freeman voiceover? If you guys continue down this way, there's gonna be some bushes, and this is going to empty out into the wilderness here. In the grossest lake you can ever see. Grossest lake you can imagine. Yeah, it's kinda this mucky pond. It's really disgusting. But you are going to be outside of Donhurst on the northeast of it. Oh my god. Do we have any sense of where the road might be, or like a main thorough? Well, from where you are, give me... let's see here. So you're gonna be a little discombobulated here, right?

This obviously is off the beaten track. Yeah, yeah. Cauldins coming out and he's got the rag on his mouth and it's gross and he's trying to stay out of the sewage, but it's really not working. And he's stepped around, sort of looking at night, looking for the road. Yeah, you have a couple of options. So, from where you are, I figure it takes you a couple of minutes looking around, especially at night. From where you are, I figure you're closest to the northeasterly road that would take you towards the Blacktip Forest and eventually it would lead you all the way to Orash.

That's the closest road to you. Oh yikes. Well, I know we're not gonna go talk to some dragonborns, that's for sure. Beyond that, you are outside the city and if you traveled south just a bit, it would take you the better part of an hour, but you can get back to the road that would either lead you east or west. East would lead you back towards Lochfort, west would lead you toward Durnhollow. Do we know which way the fang will be headed after they're done here? Like, did we get that information? Well, you do know that they're... they would probably be heading back toward Brightport in some fashion.

Got it. We're not getting those horses back, are we? Brailin looks to the group, "Guys, don't worry about the horses, guys, I'll talk it over." You know, it was partially my fault we got them in the first place, right? I kinda asked for them. "If this is on me..." "If anyone heard it, Brailin's paying for the horses." "Yes, yes, I'll pay for the horses. I got it." Oh, Tesla. Oh, yeah. My favorite. Well, if everyone's cool with it, I think maybe we wanna try and... Gosh, I think our best bet is to... I think our best bet is to head back to Lochfort. What does everyone else think?

Can we sleep? That's okay. So I was thinking we could sleep near this tunnel exit, but like, I don't know the sanitary situation. Yeah, it'd be hard to get a good night's sleep next to an open sewer. I would think Brailin would know certain monsters that live in the wild, because he's traveled with his old mentor. They like to eat human dung. You know, they like to eat dung. They like to eat, like, you know, leftover shit. So other creatures might come to this specific spot to eat, you know, what's been coming out of here. We might attract someone who wanted attention the way we smell.

Not from the fang, but probably from things that eat that shit too, right? Like scavengers. Scavengers, I'm assuming. You could. Brailin would vote Dernhollow, because we know we're looking for Large Buddy, and she didn't go to Lochfort. We would've seen her. I think Tatiana would vote for Dernhollow as well, because if we were to head towards Lochfort, there's a chance that we'd run into the fang on the road. Yeah, they had a whole bunch of them. Which means we'd have to go around Donhurst through the Deadwood to get to the road to Dernhollow. It's true.

Jason, what's in the Deadwood? Would Brailin know this? I think it's pretty common knowledge that the area between Dernhollow and Donhurst is referred to as the Divide. The Deadwood is pretty much ambush city. It's got a heck of a reputation for both bandits. And worst case scenario, you're looking at orcs. Orcs love to get the jump on people coming through that particular stretch. Just because it is immensely easy to come down on people through there, and it's happened a bunch. Excellent. So a new type of creature. Orcs. Like pure orcs, not half-orc. Like Lark.

I'm at a loss for words. There's so many beautiful ways to die tonight, guys. Pick your choice. Pick your choice. Come on, come on! Pick your death here, orcs! Callie is currently rubbing against bushes and stuff to get poop off of her. Aww. Yeah, I'd say all of you... You've spent a decent amount of time in that sewer. I imagine there's a smell, your boots kind of... Yeah. You kind of picked some of it up. Okay. Well then we'll look to Elena and Lark. Because I feel like we're boys now. We were on the ground floor, trenches. And he's gonna say, "Look, we're almost home stretch.

Do you think you two can put up a good fight if we were to run into some trouble?" And Lark will nod and be like, "Yeah. If we have to." And he's gonna look at Elena. What about you, there? I think so. Okay. Okay. He's gonna look to the rest of the group. We'll carry the team on our back one more time. Just this once. I'm just gonna hold up a finger. So you guys heading west? Yes. Yeah. Alright guys, good luck. Alright, so. Excellent. So on foot, it's gonna take you guys a little over six days to get to the bridge. Which obviously, yeah, you are... you're a good clip away.

But like you were saying, you essentially just want to find a place to camp for tonight. That would be good, I think. Yeah. So from this sewer, I would say that you're gonna make your way around the city. And the entire time, I'd say the gravity of the situation isn't lost on you. That the city currently belongs to the Fang. There's a ton of them in there. The front gates are shut when you get around to the front of it. And obviously that Castle Arrath is going to kind of loom over that entire area in the hills above. And you guys are gonna hit the road and start heading west.

Who would like to volunteer and give me a flat D20 to see how your night's travel is going to get to find a campsite? I'll go. I haven't done anything today. Let's do it. Tight. What would be group B if it wasn't like this? I'm starting to think you guys are having a bad dice night. Maybe. Maybe. That's okay. Starting to feel like... yeah. Oh boy. Okay. So here's what's gonna happen. Oh man. Traveling along, the group is just battered and beaten and you've had one hell of a day. And I would say about an hour and a half outside of Donhurst. The moon's gonna be high in the night sky.

And the party is going to hear a noise. And there's a line of trees that are pretty damn close to the road. And I would say... who has the highest perception here? Passive. I would say Braylon and Callie. Yeah, Braylon and Callie. It's gonna take some squinting, right? But you're gonna see movement coming from this treeline. And you're gonna see a pack of drakes. Got the first ingredient, guys! Arm recipe. First thing. Done. It's like Mega Man. You fight the hardest boss first, then everyone else is cake. A pack, you say? A pack. And I would define a pack of... I would define a pack of drakes.

You know what? Let's... Oh no. Fuck! What the fuck?! Are some of them baby drakes? I would define a pack of drakes apparently as eight. Now, there are a couple of smaller ones that are sticking to the back. What it looks like you've stumbled into is maybe a small family of drakes? Something like that. Some large clutch of drakes. And they are immediately going to be on the defensive. And there's a couple of larger ones that are at the forefront. And they are immediately going to spring forward. These are beefy. Kind of have a green tint to them. And there are a lot of smaller, reddish looking ones toward the back.

And I am going to say that five of them are going to sprint toward you right off the bat. And three of them in the back look to be a little smaller. Not babies necessarily, but maybe adolescents. Something like that. So I'm gonna set up a map for you guys. So does the listeners at home know we're talking about our backup characters in the chat right now? Is there time to get any actions in before combat starts? What are you looking to do? Basically, when these things become visible, I would want Larg to start making himself kind of as big as possible. Like banging on his shield with his hammer, kind of puffing up, shouting at them.

I want him to cast a spell on himself so he's got that gold light to him again. And I want to try to intimidate them, basically. Okay. Okay. Nature, I'm bigger than you. I'm not a good meal. Right. And I would say that these things are the larger of the drakes. Definitely, they have some size to them. Probably a little larger than bears. They got a good heft to them. I'll let you do me a favor. Give me an intimidate. Okay. I'm gonna burn my last spell slot for Divine Favor, which doesn't do anything for this. But I figure maybe some light spell effect or something might help. 16.

I'm, you know what? As a result of that, one of these drakes is gonna back off. So you're now dealing with four drakes. Okay. Yeah, he's still doing it, hoping the other ones will back off, but he's ready for him to come, too. Okay. I'd say Breland would run up next. As you're banging it, he'd kind of like sigh and just run up next to Larg and pull out his rapier. He said, "Well, you know, we gotta do this. Let's do this." And kind of give him a wink as he looks up at him. I said I was gonna do it. Everyone, do me a favor. Roll initiative. Initiative? Awesome.

Where is that? I never, oh, here it is. It's gonna be good, guys. Yes. Why are my initiative rolls so shitty? Oh. Face off decks. Well, it's just a flat d20, but every time it's like one, four, two. 'Cause you gotta anchor the group. You gotta... Yeah, I guess. Oh, boy. We'll be last buddies. You mean Tatyana, apparently. Yeah. But I mean, it kind of makes sense, 'cause they were rushing us, so... Oh, boy. Oh. I was supposed to be first. Oh. Are we ready? Absolutely not. Yes, boss. Yeah. Ready. Aye, aye, captain. Let's do it. Okay. Ambush Drake number two. It's in the name.

Can't just be a Drake. It's gotta be an ambush Drake. Move forward twice. And that'll end its turn right up to Elena. And that'll bring up Brelin. Okay, I have a question. Hit me. Am I engaged with this creature? Because it's in the same zone as me. Yeah. From now on, and I meant to post in the basement, we're pretty much just doing it just like it is in the book. Okay, so I am engaged. I have to marry this thing. Yeah. Give it three kisses. Oh, he... I don't want to use Thunderclap, because I'll hurt my teammates. Oh, if I cast something, he's gonna swipe at me, too.

Fuck it. I'm gonna cast Vicious Mockery. That's cantrip. That's a failure on the Drakes part. Fantastic. Let me do the damage. Okay. Three damage. Three psychic damage. And he has disadvantage on the next attack roll it makes before the end of its next turn. Okay. Alright. Elena, your turn. Okay. So the Drake is right in front of me, and I will slash it with my longsword. Okay. Oh, that is gonna miss. Wait. Okay, I am going to use Precision Attack. When you make a weapon attack roll against a creature, you can expend one Superiority die to add it to the roll. And my Superiority die is a d8.

Let's see it. So, adding that... That will make the roll a 15, and that will hit. Yeah. Okay. Nice. Eight damage to the Drake. Okay, and that will be it for my turn. Alright. Guard Drake number one is going to move up next to his buddy and attack Braelyn. No, no he doesn't. Wait, are you stopping that? No, no, I can't stop. I would just appreciate him not doing that. Yeah, so I'll use my reaction to impose disadvantage on that. Okay. Disadvantage. He's gonna try and bite. Oh, man. Two threes. What a crappy roll. There you go. Alright, Larg, you're up. Alright, so I said before combat that I cast Divine Favor on myself.

You mind if I do that now? Mm-hmm. Okay, so there's that. So basically I get an extra d4 damage when I attack. Gorgeous. So now I'm going to attack. Holy shit! Yes, Larg! Wow! Larg, Larg, Larg, going so hard. Before you say what happens, I want to point out this is the first attack I've actually connected since I've been here. I haven't hit on anything. I missed Trent. I missed in every fight we've had. So I'm pretty happy about this. Well, you crit. Okay. So you're definitely, definitely, you hit him. You're going to hit this guard drake right in a pressure point, and as a result, it's going to be weakened.

Save ends. Okay, I can take that. So it's going to do half damage. Oh, thank you so much, Larg. Alright, well here comes my damage. Okay. Holy shit. 13 damage to the drake. That was a shitty roll too. Anything else? That'll do it. Alright, ambush drake number one. Let's see here. Preylen, why are you out in the front again? Because I had a plan, but then one of them is going right after me. It ruined the whole plan. That hurt. Let's see. Ambush drake is going to attack Larg, and because of pack tactics, he's going to have advantage on the roll. So going to try to bite Larg. 17 is going to miss.

Holy shit. And that will bring up guard drake number two, who's going to join the pack with its buddies and attack Alana. And try to bite. Ugh, crit miss. That will do nothing, and that'll bring up Kaladin. Wait, I was waiting to see if anything happened. Nothing happened? Nothing happened. It just rolled a 1 on the d6, so it didn't roll on the table. How rude. Okay. I'm going to use repost. When a creature misses you with a melee attack, you can use your reaction and expend one superiority die to make a melee weapon attack against the creature. If you hit, you add the superiority die to the attack's damage roll.

So, do do do, okay, so I'll do an attack against guard drake number two. That's going to miss. Okay, that's it. Alright, that will bring up Tatiana. No, that'll bring up Kaladin. Why did it skip you? I don't know. Well, I'll bring up Kaladin. Okay, so Kaladin's going to cast a spell that we haven't seen before, and he's going to center it. It's Kaladin's Snowball Swarm. It's a five foot radius sphere, so I'm going to cast it... I'm going to cast it... Nope, nope, nope, nope. I'm going to cast it here. Nope. Anyway, I'm going to get these three guys. The ones that are in front of Larg, Brelyn, and Elena.

So, Ambush Drakes one and two and guard drake one. Yeah. Okay. And I'm casting it in the square behind guard drake one so that it gets in this sphere, the three of them. Yeah, so Kaladin is going to bring up his arm and all of a sudden there is going to be snow flurries around this point and suddenly it's going to start coalescing into these, like the real nasty snowballs, like the ones that are hard and angry. And they're going to start bashing these guys. They've got to make dex saves. So, one of them saved and one of them... So, Ambush Drakes two saved, Ambush Drakes one and guard drake one did not.

Okay, so they take 3d6 cold damage, except for the guy who saved, he'll take half. And I hope the table will do that math. Let's see. Yeah, let's find out. It did. Cool. Perfect. So, yeah, these snowballs, boom, boom, boom, slapping around. And that'll be Kaladin's turn. Okay, that will bring up Tatiana. Okay, so Tatiana is going to sidle up right here next to Larg and she is going to swipe at Ambush Drake number one. Oh, that'll hit. Ah-cha! Feel my wrath. Six damage. Cool. And that will be the end of her turn. Kali, you're up. Alright, I'm gonna target everybody.

I mean, all the drakes. What am I doing? Right? Yes, all the drakes on the floor. They're getting targeted. And I am going to use my last small slot and I'm going to cast Faerie Fire. So, cast it. Holy Lord. Okay. Oh, good. They, let's see, Ambush Drake two and one both failed. The guard drakes did not. Okay, so the Ambush drakes are going to be outlined in like this green light. I imagine it to be like spory, like spores. And everyone's going to get advantage on attacks for those two drakes. And that's it. Which drakes is it? The Ambush ones. Oh, gotcha. The red ones.

Dem red ones. Dem red ones. So yeah, you have advantage on those ones and they can't be, they can't benefit from invisibility. Huh. Ambush Drake number two is going to target Kaladin. No, sorry, Brelyn. He has disadvantage just for this attack. Yep. And let's see what happens. Oh, 11's going to miss. He dropped the 18. I did drop an 18. Oh my God. You are having a very good day's night tonight. Brelyn, you're up. Okay, he's going to put away the loot, put it on his back. And he's going to see the guard drake one snarling in front of him and he's going to take out his rapier.

And he's going to move it from hand to hand because that's the only trick he knows how to do. And he gets it into his right hand and he's going to twirl it around, try and distract him and he's going to try and attack. Okay. Wow, well they're both 9. Great part of what they hit. Oh, thank God. Alright, piercing damage. Oh wow, max damage. That is 11. So I do this thing, snarls, like it gets upset that I'm doing the tricks and I just stab it in his mouth and pull it out like a really bad dentist. Yeah, I picture these things as being kind of low to the ground and stalking and every once in a while taking a snap or a swipe, something like that.

Alaina, your turn. Okay, so I am going to once again attack guard drake two. Oh, that's going to miss. Okay, that's it. Guard drake number one, who is weakened, is going to try and attack Larg. And he is going to try and bite. And that is an 8. That's going to suck. And that'll bring up Larg. Headbutt his mouth when he attacks. Yes! Yes! Are you still wearing a helmet too? Is that cannon? Just raw, pure Larg head, huh? Yeah, just bust a couple teeth off on my forehead. So one thing, I just noticed, I thought I had only one spell left when I cast that, but the check mark means you've used it, not that you haven't, so I do still have one spell.

Just pointing that out. But yeah, I'm just going to swing back at the one that just attacked me. That was the guard drake, yeah? I'm going to swing at him. Wow! Larg! That's another crit, ladies and gentlemen. Nice. Thank God. There's got to be an achievement for rolling double crit ones and then double crit twenties. Holy shit, man. He's going to get another crit. It's going to be called Turkey. That's the achievement. That is 14 damage. Guess what? Because this drake tried to take a snap at you and completely missed and you definitely have this drake on the ropes, you get to take another standard action this round.

Whoa! Alright, well, he's not dead yet, is he? Nope. He snaps at him and he headbutts it in the teeth and then he swipes upward with his hammer, hits it in the bottom jaw, and now he's going to swing back the other way, windmill over the top of its head and swing again. Oh, wow. And completely miss. The momentum was there. Oh, I got ahead of myself. Alright, that's my turn. Okay, ambush drake number one is going to go for a softer target in Tatiana. Well, he's going to have disadvantage. Okay. Wow. Crit miss. Yes! That's two so it doesn't roll on the table. Guard drake number two is going to continue to try and snap at Elena.

That is a 16. That'll hit. Oh, he'd do a bite. Five damage to Elena. Kaladin, you are up. Oh, shit. Okay. Can you refresh me real quick? Do any, like, needing the thing from this drake, do they need to be alive in any way or is it just, I forget what we, what I need from these creatures. Yeah. Yeah, it needs to be alive. We need drake blood. So we just need its blood, so we probably, so it doesn't need to be alive necessarily, right? I think if I remember correctly. I'm pretty sure she said alive. Well, I think she said, like, it's better if it's alive. Like, the fresher the blood is better.

Well, I mean, we can get her four maybes instead of one yes, right? That's almost a yes. I mean, I don't know how that works. I'm just taking a guess here. So is that true, Jason? Alive is better? Alive is better, yes. So here's what I'd like to do. One of the bigger drakes, they're the guard drakes, right? Yep. Okay, let me know if I can do this. I would like to use shapewater cantrip and I can do two things with that. I can create sort of like a, I can like take a water source and turn it into a shape and then I can freeze that. I can't freeze a creature inside, but what I'd like to do is like create a dome over one of the larger drakes.

It can only be like about five feet in like in total diameter, but if I can fit it in, that's what I want to try and do. The guard drakes definitely will not. I'd say the smaller ones that are off to the side and not in this fight, you could do that. Smaller ones? Okay, I'm going to try and do that. So smaller ones, those are the ambush drakes or are they like off to the side here? I'd say that the ones that are off to the side and out of the fight. Okay, so that's what Cauldron is going to try and do. He's going to try and like raise some water up to one of these smaller things and create like an ice dome basically to like capture or like hold it there.

Okay. I don't really know if it has an attack. It's more of a utility thing. So you kind of just tell me if that, if it works or not, or if I'm allowed to do that. I need to shake water real quick. It says you can freeze it provided that there's no creature within it. And I know you're creating a dome. Yeah, I can't freeze something within the water, but I want to like make like an encasement around it. I'm going to say, I'm going to say okay, but it's probably going to be struggling to get out. Okay. Okay. Then that's what Cauldron will do on his turn. He tries to like get one of these things trapped under a dome of ice.

Okay. So let me have one of these roll like a deck save. Let's see if it can like get out of the way in time. So that's a 14. Oh, pretty good. So is there any, is there any roll on your, is it just a, it's just a... It's kind of just like a utility cantrip. So there's no, I mean, I guess it could roll if it was going to roll a save, it could roll against my spell DC. But what's that? It's eight plus my proficiency plus my charisma. So proficiency is only two right now. So it's 10 plus my charisma, which is six. So 16. Oh, so yeah. Okay. You're going to trap one.

Okay, cool. Okay. That's my turn. So off to the side, you are going to freeze one of these inside a dome and it's going to be kind of struggling and kind of thrashing about in there. Thrashing. Yeah, definitely. Tatiana, your turn. Cool beans. And that was Ambo Strike one that you froze. No, I... Just off to the side. One of the ones outside the fight. One of the smaller ones. Oh, awesome sauce. Okay. So she's going to do the same thing. Basically, she's going to be right up next to Larg and she's going to take a swipe at this ambush Drake yet again. And not do as well. 15 will hit.

But that's okay. What a journey we went on. I love it. You should have advantage. Yes. On that. Okay. Well, you hit anyway, so. Yeah, but she could get a crit. That's true. You could. But you killed it. So... It's dead! That will stab the Drake to death. What a roller coaster ride we just... We just took for that turn. So this Drake is going to go down. Just like a sack of potatoes down. Anything else? That's all I can do. Callie, you're up. Okay. I'm going to use my produce flames cantrip to shoot a flame at one of these Drakes. Alright. Can I get to ambush Drake number two?

I can. Yep. So I'm going to do that. So, advantage. 12 is going to miss. Cool. Aw. That's alright. So, I would say at the end of this round the other two Drakes that were off to the side are going to scamper off. Phew. So there's no backup. Ambush Drake number two is going to try and snap at Braylon. Aw. Did you see that? To us it looks like a shadow dice. It's all clouded. It was 18 and hung up on the side and rolled over to a 2. God. Man, you are killing it. Not your knight. Not your knight? What are we? What are we doing, Jason? Not your knight? Braylon, your turn.

Okay. Let me know if I can do this. I would like to... This is going to sound really bad, but I want to run past Drake. Or maybe flip over him or something. Some Lord of the Rings type jump over these fools and end up behind... Guard Drake one? I'll let you attempt it with an acrobatics check. That's what I was hoping for. So, okay. You're standing face to face with this Drake. And you... I'm... I'm... being... It would either be like a tumble over top of it. Like on a mist snap or something like that. Or kind of a slide under it. Something like that. I would try tumble over him because I think he's pretty low to the ground.

Okay. So here's what I'm going to do. If you roll a 13 or higher, I'm going to let you do this. Anything under that, he's going to get a free attack against you. Okay. Got it. 16! So you are going to... it's going to kind of reach in and snap against you and you are going to roll over its head and just kind of off to the side of its back and you are going to be behind this Drake. Okay. Now, was that my action? I'm going to say no. Because you attempted something outside the norm here. I'm going to say no. Fantastic. Brandon's going to tumble... or leap over the Drake.

Land... like kind of do a roll as he lands and like dust himself off like... And turn around really quickly. Swing the loot out one more time. And he's going to hit that like a thunder cord for thunderclap cantrip. Okay. I think it hits everything around me so... Gardric 1 and 2. Oh no. They are both going to succeed on a Constitution save. Oh, so they only take 1d6 thunder. Oh no, they take nothing. They take nothing. So the power cord just... and they just turn around and look at me. I picture a string breaks or something. And he just smiles. But the roll looked cool.

Yeah, it did. Alayna! Okay, I'm going to go for a Gardric 2. Maybe it'll hit this time. Holy shit, that's a crit! Oh man, that is beautiful. Do me a favor and roll damage. Wait, what happens? It was a 2 on the d6 so it doesn't roll on the table. I know Dice Knight ends tonight. Or ends right now. Oh, but, but, I have great weapon fighting. If I roll a 1 or 2 on a damage roll, I can reroll and use the new roll. Okay, one second because I got to undo... hold on a second. So, go ahead and reroll that damage. Is that what I should do? I should reroll the whole thing?

No, just the 1d8. Right, okay, that's what I was thinking too. Okay, so that's 10 damage instead of 9. That's more though. That's good. Oh man, so 10 damage to Gardric 2. Anything else? Nope, that is going to be it. Okay, Gardric 1 is going to turn around. Oh wait, I'm sorry, wait, wait, wait. I have a question. If I have a critical hit, I don't get critical damage? That is critical damage. You just roll twice the amount of dice instead of it being max damage. Ohhhhh. That's how they do it in 5d. Okay, sorry. No, no problem. Oh, I forgot to roll a saving throw for the weakened.

Oh cool, he's no longer weakened. Oh good, sweet. That's just food for thought. So, he's going to whip around and target Braedlin and try to snap at him. Because you have made a fool of this Gardric. We both have made fools of ourselves. Ah, he's going to miss again though. That's an 11. I think he snaps at a crocodile and just goes "Aaaahhh!" Larg, your turn. Alright, I'm going to hit it. That is a 23. That will definitely hit. How hurt does this thing look? Ahhhhh. We're talking Gardric 1. It looks pretty damn hurt. It's caught up and bloodied. It's kind of shaky too.

You notice when it turned around to attack Braedlin, it did so a little slower than it's been moving throughout the fight. Okay, I'll just do normal damage then. 6 damage will kill the Drake. There we go. It'll be just enough. From across the dead carcass, thumbs up. Thumbs up back. Anything else? If I can, I'm going to move to this spot here. Gorgeous. Get ready to hit him. Okay. Gardric number 2 is going to continue to target Elena. And bite. And 19 will hit. 6 more damage to Elena. And that will bring up Kaladin. How you doing, Elena? I'm doing well. I'm just a little biased.

Gotcha. Okay. Kaladin will do the tried and true. The ice is blue. And these go through. Magic Missile. They are icicles that fire off. So 3. I'm not sure how to factor this. I want to do 2 on the bigger guy and 1 on the smaller guy. So 2 on the Gardric, 1 on the Ambush Drake. Yeah. Since these automatically hit, just target one and do damage, then the other. Gotcha. Okay. So, Ambush Drake, Gardric is the bigger guy. We'll go boom. Boom. Okay. That is 5 damage to the Gardric. And then we will hit this smaller guy. Ambush Drake is going to take 5 damage and that will kill it.

Yes. I shoot it right into, was he turning around Elena? Yep. He's biting on Elena and I just shoot it right into his mouth. Kaladin shoots an icicle, a sharp ice, and then gives a thumbs up to Elena. Yeah. I imagine this thing just taking it right in the mouth, slumping over its long neck, just kind of, blah, drapes. Tatiana, your turn. Cool. Beans. Being that this one is the only one left, how's it looking? Does it look scared? The fight's definitely turning. It's a wild animal though. It's definitely in full defense mode. Okay. Well then, I guess she would probably attack.

It has hit and hurt her friend. But she's not going to walk up to it. She's going to use her short bow. 12 is going to miss. Alright, that's my turn. That will bring up Callie. I'm going to throw some more fire at this last strike here. Let's see if it hits. Nope, probably not. That's 12. That is going to miss. Great. So good. Brelyn, you're up. Putting the loot away, pulling out the hand crossbow, looking at it for a second, like, okay, let's try it. He hasn't shot it yet, I don't think. And... 14 will hit. Ooh, that's 5 damage to the Drake. Okay. And then he quickly does the gunslinger thing where you flip it from the little sugar part.

He's like, "Yeah!" Alaina, you're up. Okay, I'm going to try and hit this guard Drake again. That will hit. 20, beautiful. 9 damage to the Drake. That is definitely going to lump it. That is a deep cut. But he's still not dead? Still not dead. Okay, that will end my turn then. Larg, you're up. So Larg is going to stomp over the bodies of these other Drakes to get to this one. And he's going to swing at it. 21 is going to hit. Okay, so what I'm going to do this time is I'm going to use my ability called Divine Smite, which lets me burn my last spell slot to do an additional 2d8 damage to this thing.

So... First I'm going to roll my regular damage. Then I'm going to roll two more d8s. Okay. So that's 7 damage. Wow, plus another 12. So basically what happens is he connects with it and then there's sort of like underneath the surface of the hammer where it connects, there's like this sudden light that erupts from underneath it and basically the surface of the hammer detonates against it and like throws his hammer back from it. Holy shit, okay. That is going to stagger this Drake. Drake's turn, it is going to stop targeting Elaina and it is going to target Larg.

Yeah it is. And it's going to miss. It is just completely... Yeah, that just stunned this Drake. That's going to break up Cauldron. Okay, I guess Cauldron will say just to the group, "I've got one for the blood. Let's bring this one down." And he will point his finger and cast an icy burst from his hand. That will hit 24. Awesome. Boom. 7 damage will kill the Drake. Yes. It shoots through him like a piccolo's beam. You killed him, dude. Nemec cannon. I imagine that, you know, that this fight wears on. It is just loud. You guys are in this clearing near the treeline.

And it's just stabbing and growling and snapping. And then all of a sudden, there's going to be a silence that falls over everything. The last Drake is going to hit the ground. And there's going to be this muffled struggling coming from the icy dome a few feet away from that treeline where you guys are. You are exhausted. Covered in poop. And this day has just been the worst. What would you guys like to do? So Larg is going to put, like, the last one goes down and Larg puts a hand, just reaches over without even looking, puts a hand on Elena's shoulder.

And he's going to use the last of his lay on hands, which is like four hit points, I think. And then he's basically just going to sit down where he's standing and just kind of like stare into the middle distance and think about how bad a day he's had. Aww. Elena would probably go over and get her arrow from the Drake, but she would also, even though they have a Drake, she's probably just going to stow away a little bit of blood as sort of an insurance policy. Oh, smart. So like a vial, something like that, something, an empty bottle. Yeah. He's just going to like take out, he's going to very carefully take off his backpack, pull out his bedroll, throw it in the middle, like just flip it up so it's like extended and then just try to go to sleep in the middle of this field.

Uh, Kalden is utterly spent. He has so few of anything left. I think he's just going to go over to the Ice Dome and say, "Uh, before we all take a break, we need to find some way to get this blood. I don't, I can't hold this ice forever, but I'm sure we can come up with something." And he'll just like put his hand against the dome of this thing as it's like sort of like scratching at the dome. How long can you hold it for? About an hour, I think. Should you be able to freeze blood? Like to keep it fresh? I can try, but even though there is water in a living creature, there's a lot of other stuff as well, including life energy.

That's not something that I can totally contain. Freeze the water? Yes. Freeze the blood and have it be usable? That, I don't think so. If you can hold this for an hour, give me some time. Let me try to calm it. Oh, sorry, I was going to say, she's not even going to wait. She's just going to go sit down in front of the dome and just calmly sit there and try to connect with this Drake. Spiritually. Can I assist her in any way? I'm trying to think. I guess what I'd like to do, the only thing I can think of is, Kal'Dun has his hand on the thing and he sort of makes the ice around the dome cloudy so that it just sort of blinds it from more stuff that can worry it.

And so we can just sort of see Kali. Mm-hmm. I'm gonna say for the most part, this is all on Kali. Gotcha. So here's what I'd like you to do. I'd like you to give me an animal handling check. Okay. And on a 15 or higher, this Drake is going to connect with you. And you're going to be able to have some some limited control over it because the Drakes are very wild animals. Yeah. So this is going to be this is going to be pretty tough. Okay. My rolls have been so great. That's going to be a nine. Okay. So I'm going to say that you are not going to be able to quote unquote tame this Drake.

It's going to be it'll calm down a little bit. It'll it'll stop thrashing so much against the ice. But it's you could tell that if you were to let it go, it's it probably wouldn't end well. Best case scenario is going to transgamber off. So to give you an idea about size, this thing's about four, four and a half feet long. It's it's got some heft to it. Really low to the ground. Kind of an ankle biter of a Drake. Cullen will see that that this thing is not getting calm and he'll he'll say, I think what we need to do is just take some of the blood. I can create some holes where we can maybe cut its skin, not deep, but enough to get it to bleed.

If we can push it into the hole or if we can if we can push it against the side or maybe create a pool enough for it to for us to collect it, then then that's something we can do. At least we haven't contained for now. What? Why can't we just take blood from these dead Drakes? Why? Why do you need this Drake's blood? If I remember the medicine will work more efficiently if it's from a living Drake rather than a dead one. Once the blood's out of the Drake, isn't it not living anymore? Technically? These are this this alchemy is is not knowledge that I have.

I'm just going off of what the woman in Lockford told us. Just to just to clarify, it was more if you could get a live Drake back to her. It's more like removing, removing some blood on the day of like that, that type of thing. Not oh, yeah, it's not like there's an inherent magical quality to you know what I mean? It's just it's more like, oh, the fresher, the better. Gotcha. She's out of her mind. [Laughter] OK, OK. So I guess, Kalden, we'll relay that instead about about trying to capture this Drake. And it's small, right? I mean, small for a Drake. Maybe we could get a leash on it and I can keep working.

It's calmer. That's true. I have some rope and I can. We can we can make sure that it can't get anywhere for the evening. We can stake it down. We can hobble it so that we can sleep. Or tie it to a tree. When you say hobble, are you talking like Misery the Drake? No, no. Like when you hobble horses. OK. They tie their feet together so they can't run. OK. OK, I went the other way with that. Not like smash it with large hammer. Destroy its wings so it can't go anywhere. Yeah, so yeah, we and we can tie it to a tree. Yeah, absolutely. We should probably get Larg to help.

Maybe to hold it down. Larg. Larg. Yeah. Do you think you do you think you have the strength to hold down this Drake so that we can bind it? Yeah, and he'll stand up, kind of brush off and come over. Just kind of stand in front of the globe. I'm not I'm not going to ask why, but OK. So, Cauldron will try, Cauldron will like he'll make basically some murder holes in the... Boy, the terminology you are using, it is worrisome. Hobbling murder holes like this? I really have it out for all the animals of Faria. But something so that Larg can like reach in and like hold against the side, that's basically what...

Yeah, just to keep it from thrashing. That's exactly. So here's here's what we're going to do. Let's skip ahead a bit, because like what I'd like to do is let's say that unless this is catastrophically bad, then I'm going to say that you can tie this thing up. Larg, give me a raw strength check. OK, so that's a 16. So I would say with minimal damage to Larg, you are going to you're going to be able to wrangle this Drake. You're going to let's say you you kind of tied it up, harnessed it basically with, you know, wrapping rope around the chest of this thing and then lashing it to a tree just so that it can't bite through the rope and get away.

That type of thing. Like you have you've you've kind of sequestered here. It can attack the party. And let's say it did two damage, two damage to Larg. So just in its struggling, you you may have pulled something something like that. Scratches. Yeah, little scratches, little scrapes. So to paint a picture beyond the sounds of this Drake kind of struggling here and there, you are in this empty this empty field, except for the Drake corpses. You have been through a savage day and you are all exhausted. What would you like to do? Well, I think Colin will help in whatever way he can to make camp here, gathering little bits of firewood or whatever, you know, like making sure the area is clear.

Anything like that. Yeah. So just just trying to set up a nice camp and and maybe grab a little bite to eat, something like that. And and it sounds like sleep is his priority number one. And he like he like tucks Braille and like pulls the sleeping bag over Braille in a little bit. It's like, no, no, no. So I would say that unless anybody wants to do anything. We're going to fast forward to morning. I do want to sleep. This is going to be so dangerous. Sleep closer to the Drake. That way my presence is still near it. OK. But the safe distance so I don't get eaten in the middle of the night.

And I'd say of the members of the party, it probably would react the least negative toward Callie right now. Yes, she was in the front. Yeah. I think Tatiana would probably try to make herself as useful as possible in camp, like getting firewood or whatever it is. Why does she feel guilty? I mean, no, not that anybody here would know. It just seems like she's being helpful. I love it. Oh, that's great. So time is going to pass and you guys are going to get some much deserved sleep. God, what a night. What a day. Holy crap. Yeah. What a beautiful morning. Can I ask a mechanics question, Jason?

Sure. Is there ever a point where a party is so exhausted where it would affect our roles, like we would have to roll with disadvantage or something? Oh, yes. Yeah. You had it the whole time. I was rolling. Yeah. Oh, yeah. I totally forgot about that. OK, I was just curious how close you were to that. Yeah, start dipping into it eventually. Like it's it gets bad. Like if you were to push through the night and stuff, it would have started to start to get to you. All my spells are back. All my bardic inspirations are back. I just want to say that I think that Larg would have tried to get the he would have slept the bare minimum, basically, when everybody else started to wake up in the morning.

They would have found him awake, probably cleaning his armor. He'd have most of it off trying to clean out all the filth from it. Just kind of like keeping himself busy. He probably still looks pretty tired and still looks pretty worn out. But he's he's just focused on his work. I think Callie would have been one of the first people to get up because she usually gets up pretty early to meditate and just center herself with nature. Isn't that the most druidic answer ever? I think Brelin would retune his instrument from when he failed massively and that his power cord didn't go off.

So he's trying to figure out what's wrong. He's like, damn, I don't know. It's like, no, that sounds right. Tatiana would be making the whole group breakfast from one of her mother's many delicious recipes. Oh, yum. I think Cauldin is just staring at that Drake and like he's kind of got like a thousand yard stare because the images that he saw with the bell that has not gone away yet. And he's just kind of like just looking at that Drake. Elena slept in a little bit. Good for Elena. Yeah, she got hurt. She deserves it. I imagine everyone wakes up a little sore, a little, you know, just like, oh, man, it's dawn already.

It's like that type of thing. And of course, the night sleep that always comes from sleeping on the ground on a bed roll. It's not as it's not as wonderful as sleeping in a bed. But I would imagine the party's probably used to it by now. You have had a rough journey since you set out in Faribay. Oh, my God, yeah. It has not been an easy stretch for you guys. It has been fun, though. Like off the table, like out of character. It's been a lot of fun. So you find yourself in a situation where you're outside your your your hours outside the city of Donher is traveling west and the Deadwood is visible from where you are.

But you got this Drake to deal with. Are you trying to take it with you? Yeah, Kaldunil sort of like turn to everyone and be like, well, we've we've got part of what we need. To re-heal my arm. I don't know if we can keep this Drake all the way to Durnhollow. And back to Lockford. I was going to interject. You're assuming that Lockford is still OK. I mean, if what Callie said is true, you know, Ripley survived. You know, what's what's what's to say he didn't have somebody come back and set that place on fire? That's true. He escaped the hangman's noose, just like he said.

He might have had that influence that he was talking about. I mean, I think for insurance policies, we keep the Drake with us. I mean, you and I both know a Drake in combat on your side can be a big difference. I don't know if it's quite come around to our side and he's going to like look at the Drake and it's like. I'd imagine the thing is just like low slung shoulders, just kind of stalking and every once in a while, just like lunge and tug at the rope. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I love that sound effect though. That really got me. Can I can I go find something to feed it like a little rabbit or something?

You sure can. Jamie, remember making these rolls last time? Oh, can Cauldron come come with you? Do a little hunting. Sure. Yeah, if you're going after game, Cauldron will get up and and be like, I could use something to occupy my mind, Kali, if you wouldn't mind, I'd love to accompany you, get some game, feed our new friend. Damn it. Yeah, Kali, sure. Just be a little light on your feet, though. Well, I've got a few pounds that I'm missing and he'll like wiggle his stomach. Shut up. Hey, Kali. Yeah. Do me a favor. Give me a survival check with advantage. Yeah.

Wow. You're going to be out in this tree line here and you're going to find this beautiful buck. This this this this huge buck and the two of you working together are going to down it and bring it back to camp. Oh, nice. OK, can we back up a little bit? How he's got a bow, right? So she's probably doing most of the killing. Oh, OK. Do you jump from the tree and break its neck? I mean, I could use a spell and use magic. I know it's got to be more brutal. Yeah. The animal's got to suffer. It's got to see fear in its eyes. OK, well, I've got it. OK. The Cali Cali and called in are out in the forest and they're like stalking this deer.

Right. They eventually get around. And Cali probably like does what she normally does to like get game, which is is take a shot out of it. But while they're out there, they they come up onto the game and it's still breathing. Right. Like the deer is still like it was a good shot, but it wasn't totally fatal. And Kalden is going to turn to Cali and say. It's still alive. Give me a moment, I think I can end its suffering. And he's going to put his hand on it and try and do what he had done to the frog and the mouse and try and like freeze the blood inside of this creature.

Holy shit. OK. Let me describe this. So in. Huh. How can I put this gently? Will this kill an animal? Yup. Is it the quickest, most effective way of doing something like that? No, no, no, it's not. It's a. I think the friendliest word is methodical. So you let's say you have your your hands maybe around its throat or maybe one on the throat, one on the head, something like that. And pulling from Kalden's palms is going to be that kind of icy blueness and it's going to start to spread throughout the animal. And the box breathing is going to intensify, you know, faster and faster, until until it starts to slow.

And this is going to spread out and it's gone. That icy stillness is going to spread over its eyes. And its eyes are going to crystallize a bit. And then its breathing is going to stop. But I'd say this is a good 30 or 40 seconds of of Kalden doing this before that breathing stops. Yeah, because this is a bigger animal than he's ever attempted this on. Yeah, I'd say it takes it takes a lot of concentration to. Mm hmm. He's breathing hard to when it finally after the end of this, like he is he's breathing very hard in front of Callie. What would Callie's reaction be to witnessing that?

I guess she's kind of really confused about what's actually happening because Kalden's never done anything like this in front of her before. So you said it's I mean, like it's fairly quick, right? Like 30, 40 seconds. That's not too, too long, right? Well, I mean, the OK. So normally you would either slash the animal's throat or something like it's something much quicker. This is I don't want to paint too horrid a picture, but you could definitely see fear in this animal's eyes. Like it is it takes seconds like it takes a while. This was not the quickest way to do it is the right.

Yes. So when it's over, she's just going to like be inspecting the animal and ask Kalden, what did you do to it? And Kalden just like falls back on his butt, like his hands and on his butt a little bit, and he's just like breathing really hard. And he's saying. I, I froze, I froze the water inside of it. Inside its body. The water that flows through all of us. That life energy. I. I was able to freeze it inside. Why would you do that? There are so many. Better ways that we could have finished off this hunt. He's going to shake his head in agreement, like like, yeah, and like get back on his knees and sort of like wipe his hands, his hands off.

And he's going to say. You're right. But I needed to practice. Because Callie. Back in Lockford. You had mentioned that we keep getting involved. With the Black Hand. And yes, we've got this bell and. Yes, I think we can use it as leverage, and I think it will buy us time, but. The Black Hand will eventually find something else. We can't collect all the artifacts in Theria. That's not something we can do. But eventually she'll find something that suits her needs, something else of great power that she can use or that she can barter with. And with this. It's new magic new new to me.

But it's something that I'm trying to teach myself. If we do run into the Black Hand again. And I think that we must. I can end her once and for all. So like as you're talking, this horrible realization is coming to her. Practice. You've done it more than just this time. What have you been practicing on? I haven't done it many more times than this, and only on creatures much smaller. Mice and toads. Things that I can palm. I didn't think I'd be able to do it on something as big as this. It's still incredibly taxing, though, and you can see like he's just like breathing and like sweating and like he's kind of a mess after just having a rest to.

I, I don't know what to say, Calvin, because this isn't. Right. I know you were trying to find a way to deal with this, but. This just doesn't seem right. And he'll just kind of like look at the animal, just like staring down at it, and he'll be like. It isn't right. But it's what I have to do. The mountain is not sorry for her storms, and the dragons do not apologize to their prey. This is what I have to do to keep me and Braylin safe from the Black Hand to keep you safe from the Black Hand Tatiana's family and everyone in Theria. This is what I have to do.

Are you really safe, though, when we went to go find that bell and Don Hurst and we had to do that ritual. Something possessed your body during that ritual, and it doesn't seem safe to do that. To play around with this kind of magic. Any of it. I don't know exactly what happened with that ritual but I know what I saw. And. If anything. It made it easier to be able to do something like this. Callie. I know you had doubts before but what I saw in Don Hurst were demons pressing every advantage that they could against the barriers of this world that are thinner than you think.

And they will do whatever it takes to get across that barrier into this world. The Black Hand wants this spell. She wants to have that power or give it to someone who will use it. And I can't let that happen. I didn't believe in the demon thing, you know, until that ritual. Something. Something possessed you and it wasn't of this world. And I don't know, I have so many questions, and it brings up so many things. So no. Callie and he'll like put his, like his hand on, on her shoulder, like on his, on her armor. And he'll like, I know, I have a lot of questions too.

But we can take all of that in stride. We made it out of Don Hurst with our lives let's, let's start with that. I'm going to keep trying to perfect this magic. I may need your help too. But I won't ask anything of you that you don't want to do. I suppose that if it's in a situation where we are needing food for the group. I could help, but I don't like it. They suffer. I know. They do suffer. I'll just sort of just like look down at the, at the book, and like take his hand off and, and he'll say, for now, don't mention this to the others. Let's just bring this back and have some food.

Get that Drake and maybe you can make a new friend. We can try that. I'm gonna wonder why it's frozen, though. That's kind of what I do. I don't think they'll have too many questions about that. Okay. And we've got plenty of fire. We'll heat it up. It'll be. Maybe it'll be a new, a new way to serve meat. I, you know what, maybe we can even store some of it for us for the road. They'll keep. I can make a really good tiefling curry. I'll make it for you. Is it spicy? Yeah. Do you like spicy food? It depends. That's okay. You know what? I can dial it. I can dial it in.

I've had to for, for a while. I couldn't take it tiefling spicy myself at first, but now, now I can. Let's go. Colton will grab like a leg with one of his, with his one hand. Like start pulling it. Yeah, I imagine you guys drag this back to camp. Guys. I think that's a good time for us to stop for the evening. We just started. Just, just now. We just started. I want to be so mad about the animal thing. It's just so logical. We hope that you enjoyed that episode. As all of you know, we are supported around here by the lovely folks over on Patreon, where for as little as a dollar, you can have access to a ton of bonus content.

This month, we are doing a living in Theria on demons. And judging by the list of questions already asked by the folks on our Discord server, it's already looking like it's going to be a super long, really interesting one, with lots of information on how demons and demonic packs work in Theria. So if that sounds interesting to you, you're going to want to look for that $10 Paragon tier. Here's a clip from last month's episode where we discussed the late, great, Brianna Ebelmere. The nightmares were just something that kind of came with the powers and it manifests differently for every Sion.

Right. And she just got unlucky that that was just, that's kind of how it manifested. That's just something that came with it. One of the things I was always curious about is Duncan appearing in her nightmares. Was that because of Brianna? Was she having a nightmare about Duncan because she was afraid of death? Or was that a manifestation of the people who had entered the nightmare and that was because they were, the party was feeling guilty over Duncan's death? Well, it was a little column A and a little column B because she had met Duncan before, before, you know, and I thought it was a neat thing to kind of manifest through the party.

Because Ian was kind of involved in all that, like the witch tasked Ian to read that scroll and kind of mess with her and stuff. But I thought it was kind of a neat thing to tie the party and Bri together. So once again, if you were in the mood to learn about Theria, just hear more from the cast here at DNR or just want to directly support the show, head on over to patreon.com/dandr and become a patron.
