Previously for Group B, after Ellen sacrificed herself to bring back Larg, the party decided to stay in Durnhollow for the foreseeable future. Until they figured out their next move.

After a run-in with Titus Crane and a massive fight in the middle of town, these plans might have to be expedited. That's where we're catching up with Group B today, discussing their next move. Let's do that thing where we go around the table to introduce ourselves. I'm Jason, I'm the Dungeon Master, going around the table starting with Jamie. Ah, I'm first. Hi, I'm Jamie. I play Tatiana, the human rogue. And Alex. Hey, I'm Alex and I play Brailen, the halfling bard. And Ian. Hey, I'm Ian, I play Kaldin, Halek, the half-elf cryomancer. And Jamison. Hey, it's Jamison, I play Larg Smash. [Laughter] And Karen.

Hey, I'm Karen, I play Calv- Calv- Calvie, yes, Calvie. Calvie. [Laughter] I can't wait to meet Calvie. [Laughter] That's- Spoiler error, that's her twin. [Laughter] But she speaks backwards. Yes. She has a mustache. [Laughter] But don't ever tell her. [Laughter] She's sensitive. And Valerie. Hello, I'm Valerie and I play Elena, the human fighter. Welcome to 2019, baby. Yeah, tw- yep, we're gonna- okay, here's the thing. Way to talk before this, and you can hear it. [Laughter] Patreon.com/dandr In the behind the scenes for this episode. We're kicking off the new year, it's new year, new us, okay?

We're gonna focus up. We're not gonna blow anything up. We're not gonna lose our memories. We're not going to die. We're- it totally focused. Second half of this arc, you guys are just going to just succeed at everything. Yeah, yes. That being said- I'm on board. Okay. No, that was an option. [Laughter] I- I wrote words down on a page, but I don't anticipate using any of them. Because it's Group B, so. It is the 27th of yes-ty, and like many days for Group B, this has been an eventful one already. You beat up most of a bar. Or, you know, brothel. In the cherry blossom heaven.

You threatened a man. That man threatened one of your party members in Tatiana. Tatiana chose to dive off of a balcony. So a lot's happened. So we still have someone to bury. But let's pick things up. Let's pick things up like evening. Early, early, early evening. We're talking like just as the sun's setting, so dusk really. Okay. After everyone gets themselves to dust off and you meet back up, I guess what- what would be the first thing you'd like to do here? Is there a discussion to be had after all that? I think we'd probably make sure Tatiana's okay. She did take quite a swan dive off that alcove.

Do you want me to roll damage for all of that happenings, Jason? I do believe I roll damage. It's not- it's definitely not enough to down you or anything like that. It just hurts. I pictured like the first three Tomb Raider games, when people would just position Laura on a cliff and then make her swan dive off of something. That's what I picture. Okay. Then yeah, she's probably like more bruised ego than bruised. But she's going to be very sort of like shut down to it. You can definitely see her walls have gone up. She's a little embarrassed. But at the time she felt like that's what she needed to do.

And if they're all sitting down and everybody's sort of of the same mindset where it's like what a fucking day and we're all kind of quiet. I think if they're in private company, she would take out the bell and just put it on the table. And just say, can someone else please hold this? And drink whatever it is that they're probably drinking. I'm betting alcohol. If we're in that same bar where we were last time, I think I'm employed by them right now, right? Are you serving the drinks? You know what, I probably would because I'm trying to make money. That's right.

You were going through pockets at the end of the last time. And is this the one where I'm working? Well, yeah, there's two big ones in town. So you'd be at the Honest Harlot. We're not the other one. I know that. Yeah, that's probably. Yeah, we were there already. Hey, man, imagine if you went to go play that private poker game over there. Just you. Just you'd be filled with knives. Whoo, baby. It'd be a Braylon pincushion. Alex playing a new character, Malin. He's got a mustache. Hello, friends. He's got a character like Alex. That was a guy, that was a Sydney.

Sydney, right? Sydney or Rodrigo or something? Rodrigo, that's Braylon's alter ego, I think, right? He's the guy who has. That's our father in law. Yeah. That seems like a hundred years ago. Yeah, Jesus. I'm bringing it back. That's it. Done. If we're at the bar where I'm working, I'm going to get up and say, I'm sorry, I have to work. And then I'll go play a song or something in the on the stage. Okay. Or, Kalden will pull the crossbow bolts out of his body, out of his shoulder, and take the bell and wrap it up. If Braylon is performing this evening, could you do me a favor?

Mm-hmm. Could you give me a check? Could you give me a little performance check? Oh, could I ever? Maybe you get some tips and stuff. God. I'm going to burn my inspiration. That's a ten. Everybody at home. He rolled a four. Okay, let's do it. Oh, yeah. Cool. I do this now when we're fighting. You know, I'm not going to. Welcome to twenty nineteen, everybody. That's an eight. So I'll take a ten. Okay, let's take that ten. So you're doing okay. You're doing you're doing your you know. Okay. You ever go to the mall and someone's playing piano. And you're like, hey, that person's doing a competent job.

That's what the people in this. Like in real life. Like Alex is doing okay. He's doing a competent job. Yeah. Make him work more. Yeah, this is good. Let's give let's give Alex a lot of overtime. Let's make him live here. Yeah. Okay. Too real, too real. No, it's like I can't play the lute. So sure, it's nice. Right. I mean, I couldn't do it better. Yeah. So this is definitely this is mall piano player level of competent. This is like, wow. All right. You took lessons. So it's kind of background noise. No one's like throwing panties on stage or anything, but they're definitely not like boo.

It's just like, you know, whatever. And they might toss you a shekel or two here and there. Oh, I need as many shekels as I can. So do we know, like, Jamie, have you sort of like let us know what that was all about? Because I think some of us don't even know. Well, I would think if we're like sitting at a bar that we're just like talking about. Yeah, probably already taken place. Gotcha. Yeah. Can I ask what was like the result of the law getting involved? Like, are we being watched? Do we have to like stay in town? Well, OK. It's a bit of a weird situation because it it's clear based on witness reports, right?

It's clear that Titus wished you harm in some capacity. At the same time, you did kill a bunch of his men. So it's more like, OK, OK, OK, let's break it up and I'm going to look into this more. But Titus would probably be quick to go, oh, it's fine. Don't worry about it. It's totally fine. Like he doesn't want the law to get involved, obviously. So as of now, it would almost be preferable that you leave town because, you know, Laren's not stupid and she knows what kind of a douchebag this guy is. So the longer you remain in town, the higher the chances are that something else is going to happen.

Whatever that might be. So we get the sense that things are not like even Steven with Titus. I mean, it's if he's willing to do this once, he's probably willing to do it again. It might take a month. It might take a year. Who knows? But yeah. Do we know if it's like still in retaliation for the the attempted robbery? Yeah, the attempted robbery. It's more guys like that. Anybody who has an organization that that essentially runs through fear, anytime you can make them look weak or make it look like they're susceptible to an attack of some sort, they have to retaliate to make an example.

And in Titus's eyes, it would probably just mostly be he doesn't feel that an appropriate enough example has been made. Okay. Because if it were just, oh, okay, let's get Tati up here, beat the crap out of her, and then it looks like we tossed her off a balcony. Fine. But then a bunch of his men died. There were like, he looks vulnerable, I guess. Okay. So I'm imagining there's a bunch of people in this bar. They're probably talking about the big fight today. That kind of stuff doesn't happen in town too much. So there probably there might even be a few people buying you drinks or offering to buy you drinks or something like that.

Maybe even specifically Larg. Larg and Tati. Like Tati, it might be more like, oh, man, that had to suck here. This will numb the pain. That type of thing. Larg, it would probably be like, you brick shit house of a human. That was awesome. Like that. Please don't get mad at me. That type of thing. Yeah, he would be he would politely kind of just refuse any drinks that could offer to him. Like he's been basically since the Laren interrupted them and brought him downstairs. He's his mood has completely kind of flipped. He's been really quiet. He hasn't really made eye contact with anybody.

He's kind of been like his body language is kind of down, all that kind of stuff. OK, so everybody's having conversation and you kind of hear that the gentle murmur of a bunch of different people, glasses clinking, that type of thing. And I imagine Braylin plays a couple of songs and then he gets a little break. You know, you don't you know, you just can't play all night. So, you know, you do a little set. I have rice. I have rice. Yeah, totally. It's a union break. It's a meal from the kitchen. And then a dragon attacks. Another problem we got to deal with.

I guess Braylin would speak up then like, so you guys are like my friends from what Caledon has told me, right? Caledon will try and will feel that silence and just kind of say to Braylin, shoot back at him like, have you picked up anything from your journal at all? He probably he should have because we spent some time like when the cart, when the whole cart thing was happening, just trying to fill in the basics, basically about just trying to catch him up. So you're going to go to the journal. Yeah. So this large guy right here, he was dead but now he's alive.

Going back, Caledon is cursed. Tatyana's parents or dad was killed by a werewolf or something and he's going to keep going back. Caledon is going to like look at Tatyana a little bit like what? He was not going to say anything. Elena is really strong. Yeah, I must have wrote that like 50 times in here. And he closes book. I mean, that's all I got. God damn it, Alex, you brilliant bastard. Immediately, immediately, Tatyana is just going to sort of like double facepalm into the table. Of fucking course, this is going to happen today. And she's going to take as the biggest shot of whatever is nearest possible.

And then just slump deep into her, her seat. But what do you mean Tatyana? What do you mean? We've all been holding some things back a little bit. If there's a time to open our vest, I think that time, there's no better time than now. And she'll sort of look towards Caledon and I mean, there isn't much more to explain than what he just said. And I'd rather not get into the details because I don't know many of them. But what's on the table is on the table, I guess. I didn't expect, I didn't expect anybody to find out this way, obviously. And I told a friend and she'll dart her eyes over to Braylin that in confidence.

And then she'll quickly sort of recover herself. Not that I blame you, Braylin. The circumstances are strange and she's going to take another drink. She's going to lean forward. Oh, so you are my friend then. Sorry, my Skype is being a little weird. But she'll nod. Oh, Braylin will smile and lean back and share. All right. That's two friends. All right. He starts writing in his journal again. Oh, Alina will look at Braylin and say, well, technically we're friends, but also technically I'm kind of mad at you right now because you lost your memory. And I know that's not really like this Braylin's fault, but it's the previous Braylin's fault.

So I'll be friendly with you now. But when you get your memory back, then we'll have another talk and she'll kind of smile. Well, we're terrified. Well, Miss Alina, right? Miss Alina, I'm sorry if I did this to myself. I'm sure that I would never do anything to harm myself or my relationship with you guys. I mean, you guys seem really neat. Aside from the, you know, I think one of you drugged me and then kidnapped me. But I'm starting to think that may not be the case. But you all seem like genuinely good folk. And then he looks at Lark. Even you, Mr. Lark.

Big guy. Yeah, he won't even really even meet his eyes. He's just kind of looking at the table and kind of he indicates that he hurt him, but he didn't really react to it. And Braylin's not at fault for his memory loss, Alina. I think that guilt belongs with me. Oh, don't worry. I blame you too. Braylin's going to lean in closer to Alina. So he's the one who drugged me then, yeah? Not. No, no, Braylin, you did that to yourself. Sorry. It wasn't directly, but I mean, you could say you could say so. Yes, I'm I'm very disappointed in myself. And he starts writing down his journal.

I kind of drugged myself. And I don't know what you experienced, Braylin, other than this mind shattering tragedy, which I am terribly sorry for. And I'm like I said before, I am going to try and fix this. But I was able to see something in in my time with the Tapoor. Tapom. Kalden will go on to say, I found myself in Brightport and I saw her. I saw the Black Hand, or at least how I remember her. She had a list of names. Everyone who I ever cared about was on it. All of you, my mother, Tatiana, your family, everyone who I've known from the past. And she was being protected or at least enveloped by some kind of demon, which doesn't really mean that's something Braylin and I knew already.

We already knew she was in in union with demonic forces. But these hands that grabbed her were long and had these disgusting talons on them. There's nothing I don't think there's anything to get from it. It infers a lot, but doesn't prove anything. The juice was not worth the squeeze, I guess. But I did bear that fear for Vecna to see in hopes that they would see that small sacrifice and maybe reach out. We have yet to see if that will even happen. But Braylin and to all of you, I'm sorry I went down that way. And I take that responsibility on myself. We'll find a way to fix this.

In fact, I think that should be the next step, the next thing that we try and accomplish. Of course, after we bury Ellen, if you still want us there, Lark. Yeah, I want to say I'm sorry for saying that it was your fault. But yeah, I would like if everybody wanted to be there. I think Braylin would nod his head. Yeah, I'll be there. I'll look at Cauldron and mouth the words like, who's Ellen? Can I kick him under the table a little bit? You can't reach me, bro. My feet don't touch the ground. I try and do it and miss the foot. Tatiana will give a solemn nod towards Lark, of course.

I want to say that I'm sorry too for what I did at the other place. I didn't know what happened. I'm not supposed to get mad like that. I used to, but Ellen taught me not to. Now she's gone and it happened. And I'm sorry if I made something worse. I mean, what you went through, Lark, none of us have ever been through. I mean, we've lost people, sure, but dying and coming back, that must change a person. And... Sorry, go ahead. No, you can go ahead. Sorry. And it certainly must have put some strain on you. You can kind of shrug a little bit, I guess. I don't know.

I feel different. I don't know why. I think after that's done, maybe we can find out what we want to do next. Yeah. Is it almost time? The sun's low. I know you were planning on it in the evening. Yeah, Largo pretty much just kind of... He'll look out the window and if it looks like it's getting on toward time, he'll excuse himself and say, "I'll see you guys there. I'll go get ready." And he will leave the table. And then Kalden will tell Brelin who Ellen is. So the whole time he looks at the journal, "Oh, look at Tette. She says right here. Oh, Ellen, trainer, vlog.

Probably had a thing for her kind of maybe. Oh, okay. Got it. It makes sense now. Thank you, Mr. Kalden. I got it." So everybody who wants to be at the funeral... I'm guessing that's most people? Yes. So this is obviously a very somber moment. And it's probably really hard for Larg. But is there anything Larg wanted to say as she's being put to rest? Yeah, I mean, I assume there's sort of a whole kind of ceremony thing. But at some point, he'll stand up and he'll have a little book in his hands. And he'll be kind of shaky. His hands will shake a little bit, but he'll read from it.

And he'll say, "I owe my life to Ellen. Twice. The first time was about five years ago. She saved me from dying and took me in and showed me the teachings of Arathas and put me on this path I'm on now. My life has meaning because she gave that to me. The second time was yesterday. I died helping friends doing what she taught me to do. They brought me to her and she gave her life to save mine again. I wish she didn't. She was worth ten of me. I'm sad even though I shouldn't be. I know she's okay. She's with Arathas standing in a field of grass. And I bet they're talking now.

I bet Arathas is telling her she did good. You did good, Ellen. You can rest now. And I'll take it from here. Thanks for everything. Love, Lark. And he'll sit back down. Does anyone else want to do anything before we probably skip to the next day? Grelin would probably start singing Bright Eyes by Ark Garfunkel. And very softly, not very loud. Just humming it and then getting a little bit of the high notes, but nothing to take away from the moment. Cauldron will make a little, like just in his hand, like a little ice thing of the symbol of Arathas. And just like put it on top of whatever is marking her grave.

I think Kali would have, before they had gotten to the ceremony, went to go collect some flowers. So if there were any around that were... You know like how flowers have meaning? Basically the Therian meaning of like safe travels or like... I want to do like death, you know? Peace and luck in the afterlife or something like that. Good vibes, that type of thing. Yeah, no, I get that. So there is something we got to talk about, and we touched upon this briefly, but Lark... Lark's probably pretty drained from this whole coming back from the dead thing. So do you guys plan on staying in town for a few days or what, I guess?

I mean, I don't think we can't, because didn't we say that we needed to leave town? I mean, that's up to you guys. Oh, okay. I can't leave my job without putting in two weeks notice, so... You're a good employee. Isn't there, is there an herbalist in town? Is that where this is? There was one a long time ago. Yeah. Didn't we visit? Maybe I'm thinking of another place. Is that who we talked to about the... Oh no, I think I just called and talked to you. That's Lockford, I think you're talking about. Oh, Lockford, yeah, I was thinking of Jordana. Jason told us the story of the herbalist of this town.

Yeah. Who was forced out by another group of adventurers who robbed her. Yeah, she went to Brightport. She retired. Poor Kay. Doesn't Better Than Goods have some of that kind of stuff? Yeah, I mean, not the same expertise in herbal... I guess, what are you looking for? Well, so either I was looking for the Loatassel and the Bulmos, or a location where we could find it locally. Okay, so let's do this, because while general stores are kind of a hodgepodge, like if you picture almost like a... Man, so they would sell the stock standard base stuff. It's like, okay, you're going to need dried meats, and you're going to need, you know, some of them sell very entry-level swords and shields and armor and that type of stuff.

Obviously, they sell blankets and they sell torches, all that stuff. They're also kind of like pawn shops in that, I mean, a general shop will sell whatever they got, or whatever. So if there's something in the region, something might fly off the shelf or something like that, or maybe even a little bit of a rarity like herbs, they'll sell that too. So how's about Cali? Do me a favor, give me a flat D20. Let's see what the odds are of them just having a couple of things sitting on the shelf. Okay. Okay. So cool thing. So Ava would have some lotassel. Okay.

And would also have two of the ingredients that you would need for calden. If you remember way back in the day, Jordana was telling you about it. So she's going to have two of those too. So I'll let you pick whatever two, because they're all difficult to get, but that just leaves a trek into the mountains, probably, unless you get lucky again at the shop. Yeah. I'm trying to see. You guys were due for some luck. The drake split, but I think Tatiana has a little bit. We're looking for fresh, preferably. Get stuff for Braylin. I definitely did grab some, but I don't think it's fresh anymore.

Nothing we have is fresh anymore. Absolutely nothing on our person is fresh. Except our style. Our style. So fresh. And our wounds. Very fresh. Find my list. Where did my list go? Just pick two of them. Okay. And I'll find my list later. Okay. Not a problem. But tell me which two so I can check it off. I have. I've got sun thistle, drunk vine, fey root, clorberries, larblade, and bloodroot. I think we have one. I don't remember, but I think we have something of that. Right. But I don't remember which one. Those are the herbs, though. So you know what? Okay. Let's do. Let's take a big one off your hands.

Let's say that she has some of the clorberries and that's one of those things like, oh, this is the season for them. So these will keep for you could dry them out. And if you're using them for some sort of potion or ritual, something like that, these will keep for a while. And because of the way you hit things off with Ava, and she kind of feels bad for this whole party. If you would you tell Ava what you need this stuff for or what you're looking for? I think that, yeah, kind of. I think she would not be like, she wouldn't tell the whole story. She'd be like, we just have not had a lot of good luck lately.

One of our members lost an arm, the other one has lost their memory. So I'm trying to help any way I can. Obviously, seeing everything that happened with with Ellen and taking one look at your party would probably be all someone would need for proof. It's like, oh, yeah, no, you guys have had a rough. You've had it rough. Yeah. She would probably it would probably be like one of those, like, let's draw the blinds type of thing. And it's like, okay, look, I got a few ounces of blood root. You can have it like she would just be like, here, just have it because it's a hot item.

She doesn't really want it in the shop. She's got a kid like that's from a life ago. Right. Just here, just take it. You put it to good use. It's not just to get high or something like that. So here, go, you know, take it, take it and please go. That type of thing. Like, get it out of here. How much do I owe her for the clover berries and the low tassel, though? It would probably she would probably discount it a bit, but it would probably be like it would probably usually go for about twenty five gold. So she would give it to you for like fifteen. Okay. I think Callie's going to give her twenty just because she was so helpful.

Oh, yeah. And she has a cute little baby. It's true. OK, awesome. Does she know of anywhere where we could find the bull moose? Bull moose? Bull moose. Oh, my God. Bull moose. Everyone keeps calling it that. Homebrew monster. Stupid DVDs. You know what? Let's because I would say that Ava has like a passing a passing interest in herbs and stuff like that. Probably the only reason like she has a few on the shelf, that type of thing. Definitely not an herbalist. Definitely not an expert. But you get the you get the feeling that maybe she was into some extracurricular herbs back in the day, that type of thing.

Like maybe, maybe. You know, it just has the blood root. Just you know what? Yep. So you know what? Do me a favor. Give me a five to twenty. Okay. Going. A low average. You know what? This would be okay. So. So low tassel and bull moose, both of them grow in damp, wet environments. You usually find them in caves. The deeper, the better. That type of thing. And if you're if I there's a couple of different spots nearby, nearby within a couple of days, something like that. Specifically, if you're heading south, if you guys are heading to Esterhold, then the nearest one to you would probably be Eldenbright Cavern.

Okay. However, with an 11, you'd pretty much know that it's like, yeah, that's probably your best bet because it's a deep, dark cavern. It wouldn't give you much of an insight into what else would be in that cavern. Cool. Okay. So I think Larg would try to arrange for everybody to stay at the temple for free because we are kind of worn out our welcome at the brothels at this point. Yeah. And again, you guys are a charity case at this point. Like one look at you and it's like, oh, you poor, you poor souls, please come in. We'll sleep in the pantry. Yeah, basically, like we will we will lay in the lobby, whatever.

But like, I just need a roof for the night. Yeah. Probably like a little bit safer than the brothel anyways. Yeah, we're not gonna get any trouble here. Knock on wood. Yeah, the odds of someone outright attacking a temple, it's pretty slim. Jason rolls a 20. Well, I'll put it this way. It's a quick way to make enemies. So you guys are short one means of conveyance. Two. Well, Last time I get you guys a cart. Your turn, guys. Ripping peps. Rusty dusty. 20 2018 to 2019. They didn't make it to 2019. I wanted to give them a little bit. They survived one day with us.

Yeah, because I'm right. Left with 24 hours. No more pets for you guys. We named them. That was the problem. We didn't name them. Jamison. I named one of them to match the other one that you started it. You push the domino. Yeah, it's my fault. They're dead. That's right. Oh, boy, that's a mess, too. It's just a whole bunch of donkeys out there over that cliff. It's a whole mess of donkeys. So are we going to we're resting at the temple? Yes. I think Brandon, wherever large would be, Brandon would try to find him. And I and then I assume it's like you get your you get like your own room with the rest of us get like pews and like.

Oh, yeah. No, he's staying where he normally stays. Yeah, he gets to sleep on the floor, so he'll come in the room and say, Mr. Lark, sir. Yeah. Hey, hi. He looks by him. I want to talk to you about your friend, Alan. That's OK. Oh, yeah, sure. He's going to kind of get close to him. I know. I mean, I think it happened freshly in my mind, but it might have happened a long time ago. I'll wait for the typing to stop. And it might have happened a long time ago, but in my mind, it's fresh. I lost a mentor also. And I'm going to open his journal and he'll go to like way, way back in the beginning, kind of just flipping through it.

And then there'll be a sketch of a human. You can tell he's a bard. He's got like an instrument on his back. He's got like a scraggly beard and one of those like stupid flat hats, those little like newsboy hats. He said, yeah, this was this was Danny. He he kind of taught me everything I know. And when I was, you know, when when called him, he told me about who Alan was to you. It just reminded me of him a lot. So I want you to know if if you ever need to talk to somebody and I know I may not look like it, but I mean, I'm a pretty good conversationalist.

You know, don't be afraid to talk to me. I know I know I might not have my memories and maybe you hated me before. Maybe I was an asshole or something. But, you know, I'm a new person, kind of. So it's like having a blank slate is going to have like a half cricket smile. Yeah, he'll kind of chuckle a little bit now, Billy. I'm sorry that I'm sorry that you lost him. But, you know, thanks for telling me. I appreciate it. And he'll kind of smile and he'll he'll wherever he's sitting, like propped up on his cot or whatever, he'll he'll grab his helmet and he'll turn it around and show him the back.

And he'll be like, you know, I don't know. I don't know. Really know why you can't remember anything. But we're friends. Like, I trust you. He looks at the job. Hey, that's supposed to be you. Yeah, you I carried you one time in the forest and you drew this and I thought it was kind of nice. Oh, man. How did I go from drawing this to that? And he points like the the picture he drew in his journal to the back of like the cartoonish depiction. It was a bumpy ride. OK. Well, yeah. He'll chuckle. Just, you know, don't don't hold it in too much. I didn't quite see what happened inside that bar, but I definitely know what I heard.

Yeah, it was probably a good thing that nobody went in. It was it was. I'm going to try not to do that again. OK. And he'll he'll like give a bow because he doesn't know what the hell to do. And then he'll he'll he'll walk out. He'll he'll like Russell his hair and then kind of just kind of go back to being in his thoughts. So let me ask you guys a question, because the way the way the resurrection works from a standard resurrection spell is that essentially Lark would get a negative four penalty to anything he attempts right now. We kind of factored that into the last, you know, scuffle and all that.

But each day that passes, we shave one of those negatives off. So after four days, he's back to be in Lark again. Do you guys want to stay in town for a few days or do you just want to hit the road? But we wouldn't know that, would we? No. You would just get the sense it's like, well, he's weak. Like, I mean, he looked like the terminator to us. He went in there. Right. I mean, still big as fuck. That's the thing. And he was determined. Yeah, I feel like it's one of those things where now that he's kind of come down from the adrenaline, he's probably kind of dragging his feet a little bit more now.

Yeah. And the first chance he gets to eat, he probably puts away like three meals worth of food, too. But, yeah, if everybody wants to go, he'll go without complaint. But if everybody wants to stay for a couple of days, he'd be OK with that. Well, how about we take a vote? Brelyn would vote to stay because he feels like the job is the purpose to him now. Like, you know, post amnesia, Brelyn, Brelyn 2.0 is like, oh, I have a purpose. And then that's all he knows currently. And then, wow, you can. How do I do that? I did that. How do I do that? How do I say stay?

Slash vote. Oh, my gosh. And I write slash vote yes. Well, no, you could click on one of those those things and you could just say yes or no. How do you know what they say? Yeah, a checkmark is yes and an X is no. OK, I see. I see. So I just voted checkmark. OK. And if I click it, it becomes an interrupt. I didn't mean to interrupt. No, no. That's just oh, my God, Jason, plus one because you are a great DM, dude. I think I invented voting. I think that was as far as Nerea knows you did. Oh, OK, well. I have a question before I vote. OK. So I found my notes and we do have now four of the seven ingredients for Kaladin's hand.

So the Faeru, I have notes, this is Edge of a Deep Forest. So the Deadwood is a deep forest. It sure is. Is the Pyre Forest a deep forest too? Pyre Forest is a little more... Or is that more mountain? It's a bit mountainous and hilly. It's a bit thin compared to Deadwood. Like Deadwood, Evergreen, Blacktip, Highmantle, Silverglade is a great place to find that stuff. Ooh, tripping. Bandit's Rest. How... like Durnahala looks like it's kind of like a good ways outside the Deadwood, but like, I don't know how to judge that. Like if we went to look for Faeru, how many days would it take us to get to a part of the Deadwood that would potentially have it?

A couple days. Jason! What? I didn't invent distance. But you did. Well, OK, yes, I did. Here. In this instance, yes, I invented the distance between... But I didn't change it just to spite you. I love you. It's fine. I was just... I don't know. I thought like if we were to stay in town, there was this like quick trip to the Deadwood, I could get another ingredient. Do you remember the Deadwood? Yeah, well... Was any of that a quick trip for you guys? That was last year. OK. This is radio last year. OK. That answers my question. OK. I mean, yeah, I don't... other than that guy, I don't know if there's like a huge urgency for us to like get out of town.

Right? Like... Yeah, I mean... We're kind of just like somebody like... Like somebody died and like... Did Tatiana tell us that like, yo, this guy probably is going to come out? Because I don't think the rest of us who were not in the building would know how badly this guy really wants to fuck us up. That's true. Did Taty share? I would think probably. If she was sober last night, she wouldn't have, but because I had said that she was drinking and probably after the funeral continued to drink a little. Ah, an Irish funeral. Yes. She probably would have shared like, no guys, but seriously, this guy is fucking crazy.

And she probably would have played it up a little bit too because of the circumstances. I would have forgotten too about how badly we tried to screw him over. And to you guys, it looked like Tatiana was thrown. That's right, I forgot about that. Yeah. And meow. Storm is! My whole... I'm trying so hard to like stay muted because my whole neighborhood is on fire or something. But yeah, I also can't figure out how this voting thingy is working because I selected one thing and then did another thing. Oh, no. So in the original up there, it looks like everyone's voted.

That's four for yes and two for no. So four for stay. Gotcha. So I did do it right. Never mind. I'm fine. Stormy. Stormy's not having this. So how's about we do this? Just for the sake of brevity, let's do this. Let's have you stay in town until the second of Faerie Ore. New month. Guys, we made it to a new month. Holy shit. Yeah, it is now the second. And only took a year. Well, look, OK, it's 2019. It's all going to be better. It's all new. It's actually more than a year. Jason, can you spell Faerie Ore, please? F-A-R-A apostrophe U-R-E. It's on the calendar, too. There you are.

OK, well, I'm not going to you know what? I'm not going to pull it up right now. It's on the table, too. There's a calendar on the table. Are you fucking kidding? Yeah, that's what I was talking about. I'm not fucking kidding. Oh, how's the sign? Oh, it's the calendar shaped object at the top. It says calendar. You know what? I'm sorry. You know what? It has a one on it. It's a calendar. You hover over it, it says calendar. Can we can I make I know that we talked about it in the behind the scenes of the whole series. So behind the scenes of meow. Yes. Behind the scenes where I wanted to start learning Elvish.

Can she ask both called in and Callie to teach her Elvish now and then however many weeks or months until she would know it? Jason. First word is meow. It means very important Elvish word. It really it's the building block of all words. Yeah. Okay, so she she would have asked them that while while they're still in Durnahlon. All right. So you know what? We're going to give me an intelligence check. Okay. Do do do do do do do do do do. That would be the left side, correct? Yes. Okay. God damn it. Hungry cat. Look what you did, Stormy. Okay, so that's a nine. So Tati is going to be a little slow in the draw here.

So I would say after if you if you are is this the thing where you're practicing every day like like you guys are sitting around the campfire at night and it's like, all right, let's conjugate some verbs and shit like you're just like you're you're trying to learn. I mean, maybe on the road and I don't think she would push it as like, okay, it's time for my lesson guys. It would more like be hey, there's nothing to do while we're on the road headed here. So. So words of an Elvish, I guess. Right. I'd say I'd say that it would be probably about two months in game before you start.

Like you start picking out like the second or third word in every sentence. It's like, oh, wait, I follow that conversation a little bit. Like, you're starting to pick it up. Okay. Awesome. I wrote it down. Cauldron could be like, I'll start you off with something easy, like, hey, like my name in. In Elvin, it means ice or frozen. She'll she'll sort of say, well, that's going to be easy to remember. Yeah, there you go. And Cauldron is like a. Bringer or one who brings. Bringer of ice and she's going to sort of side-eye Cauldron. It was given to be my by my mother, whose name is also Halec, and her first name is Maewyn, which means keeper or someone who keeps.

Let me ask everybody a question. Is there anything again for the sake of brevity, is there anything you guys want to accomplish, like take any errands you want to run in the few days that you're kind of hanging out in town here? I just want to be a model employee. Okay, so for everybody else, here's what I want to do. I'm imagining you guys are living pretty hand to mouth, right? Because you're not trying to send a message. You're not you're not living in the lap lap of luxury. You're staying at the temple. So you're saving money. But your your your meals are outsourced, basically.

So everybody, I would like you to shave five gold off of your total, please. And if we have zero? Yeah, I don't even think I have gold. I think I gave it all to Callie. Well, that's a problem. Someone else will just pick up your tab in the group. Braylin, on the other hand. I just like went hunting. I'm in town. Like around town and then just brought back food. That's more of a thing you do out and about like this is like. I only have 30 gold. That's not my fault. Here's the thing. OK, so maybe Braylin, let's see. Here's I'm going to give you a chance. Maybe Braylin up this game a little bit and maybe a couple of meals on the house here and there.

Braylin, give me a performance check. How did you do? All right, guys, here we go. Good vibes, please. Oh, wow. The worst. Jesus. Whoa. Well, that's a one. Just do not like your music in Durn Hollow. I guess not. I performed the worst in Durn Hollow. There's a staff breakdown somewhere. You know, here's the thing. I believe Durn Hollow is more of a bluegrass town. Like it's more of a they like old like, I don't know, Overwatch war hymns. I don't know what they like, but it ain't what Braylin's pitching. And I think you have thoroughly burned a bridge here. Not not like get out of town.

It's more like, hey, this isn't working out, man. You're good. Oh, God. You know what it is? Hey, step into my office here for a second. No. Oh, man, you know, we appreciate the work you're putting in. Right. But I fought for you. OK, so after I get fired from the bar, I guess I would I street perform. You got to hustle, man. Oh, man, it's like a behind the music. I don't like this. It's worth going. He's going to get a hold of that blood root next. That's where Braylin went back to his roots. OK, here's what I want you to do. OK, when you street perform. Oh, man.

Do you guys know what it's like when you pass a street performer and you try not to make eye contact unless they're really good, right? They got to be profoundly like, OK, I was walking around Portland, Oregon, once, and I heard the worst cover of Tom Petty's You Don't Know How It Feels. Just the worst. And then Freefall. And it was the fucking worst. That light would never change. But I would like you to make a performance check with this advantage. Yeah, I saw that coming. That's OK. Well, they're both bad. They're both really bad. OK, well, OK, so I don't know why, but I picture Braylin with stubble and like he's not he hasn't combed his hair.

I don't know. Like, it's just like you just this isn't if you're going to make a blues album, this is the material you're going to work with later. So here's what I'm going to do. I'm going to say that you earned three gold from your four days of. But I'd say your free meals probably dried up after the second day. So could you do me a favor and give me two gold back? Yeah, that's I don't have one gold. OK, you have one gold to your name. God, he definitely has stubble now. He's like, oh, God, I used to be good. Oh, you know what, guys, let's just become criminals.

Fuck it. I'm down, man. That's what I've been saying this whole time with this new brilliant things like, man, that I just did. I just suck in my life. Is that why I can't remember? I just blocked it off. It's not you, baby. It's not you. It's them. It's the hand. Yeah, they don't get your genius. Yeah, I, I, I, I feel a Braylin resurgence coming on in Esterhold. You got to go down south. That's what it is. Oh, yeah. That's right. That's where it all great. Taking this show on tour. Mm hmm. Yep. Yep. Yep. Yep. If if I still have time, I'd like to just like help out. He'll remember.

Oh, he won't remember, actually. Never mind. I can't do it. I want to do charity work for the temple, but I don't remember. Oh, yeah. I don't really like doing that. So never mind. Well, he'd probably do it again, to be fair, over those four days. Right. You're staying there for free. If I saw him do stuff like I want to help him out. I like try to be like him and like, oh, yeah, I want to, you know, lift heavy boxes and stuff. OK, so that makes sense. So in your spare time, I doubt you're performing that entire time just because of how poorly the performances are going.

So like, you know, they just don't appreciate the bright port sound in Durin Hollow. Anybody else? Is there anything you guys would want to do? And I'm assuming you're hitting the road on the second. I could be totally wrong. I just want to... Oh, sorry, go ahead. No, you can go. I just real quick wanted to go through Ellen's stuff and just see if there's anything like important or valuable that he shouldn't leave behind. That she wouldn't have needed to be buried with. I assume he's gone through her stuff before. But I just want to have a record of like, hey, this is a bag of 800 gold pieces.

Yeah, I wouldn't say that anyone who worked for the temple like that is rich. Sure. God, a lot of people probably lost their possessions fleeing Donhurst, right? So like, I wouldn't say that you might find, let's see, 10 gold. Yeah, OK. Do I lose it to pay for food for everybody? Well, that's up to you. Yeah, I mean, if it's that or starve, I guess he pays for food for everybody. OK, and that's that cost of living, man. And at least you're staying at the temple. That's pretty cool. So, oh, go ahead. Sorry. I was going to say, but if she has like a particular like holy symbol or a significant weapon, maybe magical, something like that, then he feels like she would not want left behind.

I'm assuming you're burying her in her armor and stuff. Yeah, yeah. For as far as. Yeah. Yeah. Well, you know what? Maybe not even armor, maybe just like vestments type deal. OK, OK. She was really too much of a fighter. Not really, no. I would imagine just because of the circumstances of leaving Donhurst, going through the divide, that type of thing. So probably ready for a fight, but not looking for one. Right, right. Do you remember if I ever roll a flat d20? OK. Oh, wow. Goodness gracious. OK, let's let's let's see. See what I can give you. I would say. That there's probably a nice plus one Warhammer.

Oh, shit. Yeah, like that's probably something she would have like as a prized possession, that type of thing, again, not looking for a fight, but ready to defend herself or people from Donhurst. Maybe she was going to give it to Larg as a present at some point. Could have. Yeah, looking it over. I don't like he'll he'll look it over for any kind of like engravings or markings or anything like that. Yeah, it's pretty common practice for people to inscribe their name on the handle or something like that, or if it's a gift, inscribe the person's name, that type of thing, because weapon theft is is a thing.

So it would probably have her name inscribed somewhere near the base. Yeah, he's going to he's going to take that and he will use that in her name, literally. Leave impressions of her name on everybody. All right. I will slide that into your inventory. Sick. And the only other thing I'm going to do is Larg is going to shoot off a couple of letters toward Winterhaven. One would be to whatever the I don't know if there's like a Temple of Arathis here or if it's another deal like this where there's just sort of one temple, Ketch'ol. But he'll kind of send a message, be like, hey, so you probably heard what's going on in Donhurst.

The person who was leading that whole thing is dead now. So if there's anybody else who wants to help refugees, you know, that kind of thing. And you're sending that where? To Winterhaven, which is where all the refugees were going, right? Yes. And he'll also send one. Well, I guess he'll send it to the same place, but he'll he'll be like, also that army that you're sending to Donhurst, like, here's what I know, you know. Oh, yeah. Don't worry. They're on their way. Yeah. Army of like five or six. Thank you for sending an entire huge army. I really appreciate it.

And you give your letter to Donovan because there's a Donovan in every town at the post. He's the nurse joy of Donovan. Donovan. But yeah, that's all I do. I'm generally just helping out for the rest of the few days. OK, so I have two things that I want to do. The first thing is, does that mean I can put five gold back into my account? Because Ellen paid for it. Or... Let's... OK, Lark, who'd you pay for it? Did I only... You had 10 gold, so you're paying for yourself and someone else, I guess. It shouldn't be me. I have plenty of money. OK, in that case, you will take pity on Braylon and pay for Braylon.

OK. Thank you, man. So you know what? Braylon, you have three gold. I have what? You have three gold, baby. Oh, hell yeah. Yeah, that's right. You're the hobos of this world. OK, and then second thing, I think through the four days, I was wondering if maybe Elena would run into Trenton again? Oh, this is adorable. Yeah, OK. So let's... I mean, it's a better part of a week. So probably, right? Let's talk about Elena's boyfriend. Yeah. OK, so there was a lovely half-elf gentleman, and Elena and Trenton kind of hit it off in a bar type setting. They had a nice conversation.

It was lovely. Now, let me... OK, let me ask you a question. Elena. In your head, in your mind's eye, describe this gentleman. You want me to make enough? Yeah. Oh, God. Um... You know why? Because Elena was attracted to this person, at least, you know, at least superficially to talk to them. And that has not happened for Elena on the show yet. So what attracted Elena to this individual? It's like you're playing Dream Date. Yeah! It could be anything you want him to be. Um, well, I think... What attracted Elena to him originally was that he was just, like, kind.

Oh, wow, the bar is pretty low then. Yeah, this is Valerie you're talking to. So Tranny didn't spit on Elena. That's where we're at. Yeah. Oh, I'm going to hug you next time I see you, Val. So, um, no, but I think, like, you know, it's only been a month, but it's been a rough month. Yeah, that's fair. And so I think something that just let her kind of feel a sense of normalcy was really nice. Um... I don't know how to describe appearances. Okay. So she looks great. Wow. However, you as the listener want to interpret that. Okay, so he's got, like, he's got, like, three and a half teeth.

I'm going to jot all this down. Um, oh, he's got a beautiful comb over. Oh, it's just wispy. The wind catches it. Um, I picture 19 chin hairs, but, like, he's trying to shape it into a jaw line. You know that beard thing where you got to trim it just so, so it looks like you got it. Yeah, so I'm going to jot all this down. Classically handsome. Classically, yeah, just leading man. No, um... I think of him like classic male lead in a Hallmark movie. Okay, so TV pretty. Yeah, but, like, Hallmark TV pretty. So he's just like cute, not like, like, like... Yeah, like...

Sexier. Like Jonah's brother. Yes, exactly. Like someone, um, someone who looks inoffensive. Yes. Okay, looks approachable. Someone you could bring home to mom. Yeah. Okay, okay. So, so, okay. I'm picturing, like, a nice, you know, he keeps hair kind of short, probably clean shaven, you know, just very, it's like, oh, hi, that type of thing. Just very, yeah, okay. So how, let's say, I mean, it's a small town. You probably see him around. Hell, you probably saw him that night. Uh, you guys were all sitting in the Honest Harlot and Braylin was playing, though that probably wasn't the night to hang out.

Yeah, probably not. Okay, that's a, that's a funeral night, not a night to... Yeah, so, um, let's say you guys met up a couple of times and let's say, do... So, okay. Here's, here's what I like to do. I want to leave this up to a dice roll. So I'm going to roll a d20. Now, the higher this is, the more into Elena Trainen's gonna be, but you don't want it too high. You don't want it, like, single white female high. You want it, you want it rocking a good, like, you know, you guys are keeping it cash, right? Because you're going to be hitting the road. Yeah. Right, so, okay.

Don't ruin him for me, Jason. He's all I have. What? You know what? Do me a favor, give me a persuasion check and we'll, we'll alter this roll slightly. Okay. Give me a persu- how charming. How, how charismatic is Elena being? Not very. I mean, it's not the worst. It's like... It's a, it's a nine. It's not bad. You know when you go to the mall and there's a guy playing the piano? Um, you're that charming. Again? You're gonna bring the same guy again? Yeah, I, I went to our mall recently. Uh, so you're that charming. You're... I don't, I don't know what to say about this.

You're, you're basically, you're TV pretty. Like, it's like, oh, you're, you're in a, you're inoffensive. You're like, oh, we're having a nice conversation, but like, it's not, you know, so here's what we're going to do. I'm going to add a plus two to this roll. So get ready. So this basically is like, you're, you're into him. Let's see how into you he is. Okay. So that's a seven. That's not ten. This is like real life, Jason. I don't need this. Now, isn't the same thing about the goal and the job. So I'd say that this is a thing where it's like, it's not love at first sight, but you guys are, it's like, oh yeah.

So he's probably asking you like, where are you from? You know, those types of questions and maybe there's a couple of awkward silences, right? Like, it's not terrible. It's just like, you've had better first dates. Mm hmm. Okay. Now, let me ask you a question. Where, where do you see this going? Like, is there a point that you think that was a lovely meal? Thank you very much. I'll see you later. Um, I mean, especially with, with the, the dice rolls, I think it's, it's just, you know, Elena just wanted someone to like talk to and just like hang out with like away from everything else that the party's been dealing with.

So I think, I think it is, is very just like friendly, you know, not anything more than that. Just kind of an ear to bend type of thing where you just, it's like, things are crazy right now. That type of thing, you know? Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Totally. And I would see, personally, I see training as a very, a very mannerly person, right? Maybe it's the half-elf in him, but it's inoffensive is a good word, but more solid and reliable is how I would, I would pitch him. Like, even though you're probably hanging out in a brothel, because that's the bar, that's the, that's the, that's the best bar in town.

He's not pushing for anything more than conversation and a nice meal, that type of thing. A gentleman. Thank goodness. So yeah, probably. Is there a point where you're like, hey, I'm leaving town tomorrow, like I gotta like, you know, but this has been nice, that type of thing. Yeah, probably. Is it an open-ended thing? It's like, hey, maybe we'll see each other again or goodbye forever. I don't know if necessarily like a goodbye forever, but you know, more of a like, you know, it's been really fun, you know, just kind of talking to you the past couple days, you know, you never know what happens.

Maybe we'll run into each other again, type of thing, but not like, see ya! Right, exactly. Okay, so you didn't ghost him. So, okay, good, good, good, good. Could you do me one more favor? Could you roll a flat d10 for me? Ten? Okay, that's... Yeah, just a flat d10. Four, six, eight, this one's ten. Okay, thank you. Thank you very much. Ah, cool! Okay, so, anybody else, does anybody else want to do anything during the four days you guys are taking it easy? Could I take a look, could I try and uncover something about the bell, the Bell of Vecna? Yeah, what are you looking for specifically?

Oh boy. You want to use it? Yeah, let's use it. Okay. Head to the middle of town. Oh, you know what? Okay, this might be good. And you tell me if this is... I want to know if it can be rung without... I want to know if it can be rung without, like, destroying things. Like, could, like, Cauldron ring this to maybe get the attention of its owner, or try and enhance the seeing the dead thing that's been happening going on. I guess, is that something that you can learn about it, or try and learn about it? Well, here's the thing, you're going to need a big library for that.

Durn Hollow is not a huge read-in town. Now, they have a library, but I don't think it's gonna... it's really going to facilitate your needs. I will say this, that from what Cauldron has gathered so far, the bell is part of a ritual. The bell itself is... the ringing of the bell is more the completion of a ritual type of thing. It's not, you know, you ring it and all hell breaks loose. So I'd say that much. Everything else is probably going to be a lot of question marks. Okay. I do have a thing called Researcher. I don't know if that's mechanically, like...

When you attempt to learn or recall a piece of lore, if you do not know the information, you often know where and from whom you can obtain it. Yeah, actually... Even if they don't have a big library, is there, like, maybe someone, maybe in the temple or something? So there are... big cities are obviously... they have the biggest libraries. Aubrey actually has a decent collection of occult knowledge. Esterhold is another great place. They got huge, like... the mayor there, crazy about books. So that has been a, like, a big thing there. God, beyond that close to you?

Probably not much. I mean, Oomin Year is your best bet, but maybe that's a trick. Sure, sure, sure. Yeah. Okay. And then everything else would be off-continent. Unless you guys want to go off-continent. We have already too many problems. What are you doing? I'm just asking, hey... I mean, New Year, New Group, right? Right! Let's make 2019 the year of Group B. How about that? I don't know, been there. Been there, done that. Rick just barely doesn't remember. Oh yeah, that's right. So, it is the second of Faerie Yore. It's a new month. Larg, slowly but surely, had his strength returned to him, and you're gonna feel like, I'd say that fourth day you kinda wake up, and you're just kinda like stretch, crack your back, that type of thing.

It's like, alright, I'm feeling it. I'm kind of ready to rise with the sun, that type of thing. Are you guys hitting the road? And if so, where are you going? I thought last time we checked we were going...Esterhold? That was the last time we had a talk, but things have happened since then. I don't know if the group maybe... Braylon wasn't in. Braylon has no idea where anyone is going. He literally can't remember. I think it might be worth getting together to figure it out as a group, where we're gonna go. Yeah. So, let's say you guys are grabbing some breakfast, you're meeting up, and you were kind of up on bricks while Larg was recovering, but now there's no restrictors, man.

You guys can go anywhere and do anything. Except the towns that you have written off that you can't go back to. I guess two right now. Well, you murdered people in Fairbay. Yeah, but they were... There was a mild...they weren't great people. They could still go back. And nobody knew it was us. Except the one guy we let go, dude. Yeah. And Brightport's kind of off the table. Forever. Right. Yeah. Don Hurst isn't really... He's not even there anymore. That's not our fault, though. Walkford was okay? Mm-hmm. We lost those horses. We know that guy horses. Oh, shit! Yep. Oh no!

Oh, yeah. We can't go back there. The horses aren't dead. They're just stolen, right? Yeah, you owe him horses, basically. No, the Fang owes him horses. We don't owe him shit. That's right. You know what? Let's just get a big red marker and color on the entire eastern portion of the map. Gone. You mean every city we've been to, basically. Yes. So that's all gone. Let's concentrate on the side of the map you guys haven't set fire to yet. So you guys are gonna meet up, you're eating breakfast. Hey, we didn't set fire to it. It set fire. We put out fires. Plymouth Rock landed on Group B.

I specifically said no fire. We didn't start the fire. Is that an 80s reference from Valor? I know! Amazing. I'm proud. It's a reference to Elise Joel. I know too many lyrics of that song. And at the $5 Patreon tier, you can hear Valerie sing all of the songs. I fucking would. Don't even test me. I would. You pay $5. So, you know what? Just 'cause I love random dice rolls, what's the breakfast like at the Honest Harlot today? It's a one. Terrible! I love the crust of stale bread we're sharing. It's not even fake. Aren't we at the temple? Or are we eating breakfast at the Honest Harlot?

I mean, the temple probably doesn't serve breakfast every day. Yeah. Yeah, so. You're getting to stay free. They're not gonna cook for you. Just eat the Eucharist over there. Yeah. Nom nom nom nom nom. Oh no. Might be better than the breakfast that we're currently eating right now, then. So, whatever you picture a one breakfast being... Oh, it's so bad. The driest oatmeal. It's like eating lukewarm shrimp at a strip club. I don't know what a one is, but it ain't good. It's what we deserve. Was Braylon playing at this place? Is that why we're getting... I'm not. No, Braylon was out when he was no longer employed.

That's why we're being served like this. They'd be like, "Yeah, they got fired. They just, you know, I didn't appreciate the tunes I was playing. So, let's never come back to this place again." It's okay. You know, I've always said you're a man out of time, and you're ahead in your musical ability. It's on them not to appreciate it. This is the first time you've told me that that I can remember, so thank you. So, this is probably like a real bargain basement stew. Like, something they warmed up. This is like the fourth day they warmed up. Per breakfast? Oh, yeah.

Yeah, it's like yesterday's stew. That's, yeah. Yeah, like, it's like, look, man. That's perfect. The chef called out today, this is what we got. I'm sorry, so... Just tell me who's partaking in breakfast. Oh, yeah, I will, I guess. Colin will be there. Callie will be there. She's not gonna eat it. Can I cast Protection from Evil on this stew? It's hard to judge the intent of the stew. Do you have any hot sauce? Tiefling Spices? Secret Tiefling Spices. I literally have Purify Food and Drink, and I'm thinking about using it, though. I'll call down and look at everyone and say, "Well, it seems like we may have outstayed our welcome here in Der Popple." Callie, you were at the Herbalist.

Did you get any information about where we can maybe find anything to help Brelin? Yeah, I did. I actually got one of the two herbs that we need. And she also had a couple things for you, too. Excellent. I appreciate that a lot. I think trying to help Brelin is at the forefront of my mind. Yeah, I think that's probably... I'm glad you're able to get some. Probably a pressing matter that we should take care of right away. I have a question. What are we going to do about the fact that assassins were sent for you guys? He'll look at Kalvin and Brelin. You told me that, right Kalvin?

Did you tell me that already? Is that an assassin? No, I didn't. Yikes! So when he says that Brelin's going to be eating the stew and then drop his spoon. What did he say? Largo pulled down his collar from his armor to what I imagine is a rad new scar across his throat. And he'll be like, "What are we going to do about the assassins that got sent?" Because I feel like more might get sent and I don't want to do that. Assassin? He'll like nod his head and close his eyes really fast. Like, "Mm-hmm. Nor should you have to." And I, in that situation, and Larg, there's no way I can repay you other than with my very own life.

He'll kind of raise his hand and shake his head a little bit. He'll be like, "No, no. I'm not worried about who sent them and if they're going to send more. I'm not worried about what happened." Well, as far as who sent them, it's definitely the Black Hand in Brightport. She is somewhat of an information broker, I guess. Maybe some kind of spy master. And she has manipulated the entire city of Brightport and has people all over the world that she's trying to deal with to... Well, I'm really not sure. I suspect maybe bring about the end of Theria as we know it.

We know that she has dealings with demons. We know that she's able to summon them and bind them to her will and that she is somehow working with some powerful entity if my visions are to be believed. So this is the same person that you saw in your dream? More than seeing them in my dream, Larg Braelyn and I met with them about two years ago. We had a deal that went badly. We didn't want to cause trouble. There was a weapon that she wanted to deliver to people on another continent, on Talur. It was a weapon of cord. And we decided that long time ago that that wasn't the best thing for Theria.

She forced us into this by threatening one of our friends and we said no. She's been sore about it ever since and has tried to make an example of us. So yes, I think she will send more assassins. I just... I mean that's what the whole thing was in Dawnhurst. They were after us. So would you say that the Black Hand is the type of person who would do anything for power? Absolutely. Okay. So Erathis told me about her. Kaldis' eyes are going to go wide. Same with Braelyn's. What? And she told me that you all could be the ones to stop her. Braelyn's going to look at Kalin.

Did old me deal with this kind of stuff regularly? Yeah. Huh. So then old me was literally just as afraid as I am now then. Yeah. But the thing about you, Braelyn, that I don't know if you remember, but in spite of all that fear, in spite of everything, you stand up to it and you take it head on. It doesn't matter. No. That doesn't sound like me. He just puts his head on his palm and looks at Lark. Please continue, Mr. Lark. Real quick though, I want to take a look, I want to glance around the rest of the table when I say that and kind of get everybody else's reaction too.

I mean Tatiana would probably choke on whatever it is that she was eating. Like almost like, "What did he just say?" sort of thing. I think Kali was kind of just like listening and like sitting back and she'll sit up a little straighter when you say that and just be very alert. Yeah. It's the same thing with Elena. Like when she heard you say that, she mostly got confused but isn't sure if she should bring up why she thinks you heard Arathas or you talked to Arathas. So she's staying quiet for now. Okay. Yeah. So he'll kind of look around the table for a second and he'll say, "Arathas told me that she was only talking to me because she knew you might bring me back.

She knew about the bell and everything. And if you did, that I should help you because you knew about this problem and might be the ones who can stop it." So I feel like that's important. Is that all she said? What else did she say? What did you see? She's really nice. We talked for a little bit but she said that if you brought me back, that that's what I should do and that if you didn't, then she would come back to get me. And he'll kind of look down at the table for a little bit and think. She seemed worried. Since they've been back, she said that something's different and something's changed.

She's really worried that if the Black Hand is successful, that just everything might just end and might just all fall apart. Did she say at all what the Black Hand was trying to do? Anything specific or anything? Or does she just know that she's involved in trying to bring about the end of this world? He shakes his head and he says, "No, she just said that she would do anything for power." And I think that lines up with what we've seen or what you told me, what you told us. And I think if we keep running, it's just going to get worse. I think we need to start finding a way to turn around and run toward the problem.

And I want to fix, I want to fix, he'll nod at Kaladin, I want to fix your arm and he'll nod at Brelyn, and I want to fix your memory and I want to, he'll nod to Kali, and I want to help you with your curse and everything. But we can't run away from this. This is too important. Larg, I'm so glad you got to speak with Arathis. I think there's a few of us, yourself included, that know better than anyone that the gods are real. I don't know how they've changed though, or how they think themselves altered. But that's almost what I've been trying to do this whole time is get in touch with them somehow.

This bell, this is what the Blackhand was after. I don't know if it's part of her plan or if she plans to use it to broker some other kind of deal, but that's why she could never have it, that's why the fang could never have it, and that's why I've been trying to figure out if I can get in touch with Vecna or any other of the gods. Or any other of the divine powers. That's why I want to go to Esterhold and bring the paladins of Kord into this so we can possibly march on Dawnhurst and take it back, and I don't know if what you say is true, maybe march on the Blackhand.

And Larg will look around again at the rest of the table. He's like, "Yeah, sounds great." He's looking through his journal too. He's like, "Kord paladins, violent, aggressive, fly off the handle." Yeah, these guys sound great. I think Tatiana would probably just ask after hearing both Larg and Kaldin speak, "Well, I mean, if the Blackhand wants the bell and we want to stop the Blackhand, shouldn't we destroy the bell?" And she's actually asking because she doesn't know everything. Would I be able to make a religion check to see if that's even possible?

You sure can. Hey. Holy shit! Damn. So here's the thing about powerful artifacts. There's usually a reason that they've stuck around for centuries or more. And one of the reasons is they can be very difficult to get rid of. Most of the time they're magically protected somehow, so it's not like you could just toss it in a forge or fire or something like that and melt it down. The bell, specifically, this kind of mojo, there's probably some sort of ritual to break it down or get rid of it, but there's probably some sort of risk in doing it in that if you do it wrong, something might happen.

You'd want to do it. What I'm saying is you'd want to do it to the letter. So yeah, he'll kind of shake his head and be like, "That would be really dangerous to try. I think we should stop carrying it. I think we need to find a safe place to put it." I admit that in an unlocked display case in the Temple of Arathis was not a safe place to put it, but I don't know what would be safe right now. I don't know who we could give it to that we could trust that the Black Hand couldn't get to it before we get to her. That's exactly what I'm afraid of. And if I'm being honest, I would like to try and bring someone else back with it.

He will do the slow burn head turn. Just kind of wait for more information. I don't want to do it at any kind of risk. I absolutely do not want another Don Hurst to happen. And I would never use the bell if the risk was too much of that. But there is someone that I think could help us in this fight that was ripped from this world too soon. Tatiana, do you know how House Dragonkeep got its namesake? I would assume she probably does because she's from Brightport, right? Yeah, it wasn't a secret. Hard to hide that one. She'll just nod like a wide-eyed. They housed a dragon, a great white dragon, and her name was Amara.

She was special and different from all other dragons in this world. She died two years ago fighting to save Etherea, fighting to save our cities. And I think she would be a helpful contender in the battle against a force like the Black Hand and Brightport. But I don't know if that's possible, and right now the risk is just too great. It would be incredibly helpful though, if it's something that we could do. So, thoughts? Brelyn's gonna be looking through his journal. "I met a dragon? What?" He's gonna keep going, flipping, flipping, flipping, find a page.

Well, I guess I did. I have a question. So, Elena is from... Overdale? Or Watch or whatever. Yeah, I guess technically Overwatch that she's from. So, like, obviously she knows about Strahd and she's old enough to remember that. Would that be kind of the only dragon she's experienced? Have we ever met a dragon? Did we ever see one fly, like group B? Oh, good question. Did we see the big black dragon? Yeah, we heard a dragon. We didn't see it though. You haven't been close to any, no. Well, would Elena have been in the Overwatch when Strahd attacked? Yeah. Definitely.

So, when we start talking about a dragon, Elena will get concerned and say... Wait, like a real dragon? Like a big dragon? Enormous, yes. But she's very friendly and very, very sweet. And how do you know this? We met her in House Dragonkeep. We were able to talk to her for a little bit. Okay, you're telling me you talked to a dragon? Yes, most dragons can understand. I mean, you can speak to them in Draconic. They can be powerful when they try and talk at you, but... I was also able to speak with her just by us touching. Elena's gonna tilt her head? It took a lot of effort, and it's something that I think has to do with my bloodline from many, many years ago.

But right now, Elena, that's not important. We should figure out where we're headed and what we can do with this spell. Sorry. Oh, sorry. Well, I was just gonna say, sorry, you're right. We'll deal with that later. More on that later, yes. So, at this point in the conversation, what seems to be the most pressing issue at the moment? What's the thing that you have the most agency over? What's the thing that you can do something about? I mean, Arath is basically Obi-Wan, you're my only hope to us, so I feel like we have to kinda... We kinda have to do that, right guys?

Like, I don't know. I mean, we do, but I... Oh man, I'm so torn, 'cause... Cauldron really wants to get Braelon right, and the thinking is, like, if we don't, he'll be in danger, 'cause he doesn't remember that assassins are after him. He's working a normal... He knows now. Yeah, he's working a normal job and trying to do things, like if he doesn't have this sense that we keep going, he's gonna be in trouble. Can we multitask? Can we knock two birds out with one stone, like on our way to do... I'm down for that. Yeah, I think a fully functioning Braelon would be useful, if we're gonna try to do anything on a large scale.

Question about the potion. It'll just bring his memories back faster, like he won't have amnesia for as long? Is that what it does? Well, it's supposed to... What it is, is a... It's like a medium-tier cure for memory loss. So, there have been people who have suffered head trauma, there have been all kinds of different things. There are spells that have gone awry, and this is supposed to aid that. So, in Braelon's case, it should bring the memories right back. Yeah, so Cauldron will bring that up. He'll be like, "I'm worried for the safety of Braelon." Without him having all of his memories restored, he could be in danger.

Especially if more assassins come. Quick question, Jason. Vecna doesn't really have an outright temple, right? Like a corridor or anything? Okay, so Vecna's kind of the black sheep of the Pantheon. If people worship Vecna, they usually keep it on the DL. So there are temples to Vecna, but they're secret temples. Can... a role religion? To see if you know of one? Yeah. You know what? Go ahead. Specifically... Okay, yeah. Where the nearest temple of Vecna might be? Okay, let's do that. Okay. So, okay. You come from Donhurst, and you've spent a lot of your time there.

I'm trying to see how far your sphere of influence would have been. Like where, you know, because those types of temples aren't usually in small towns, because one gets around too fast. You probably would know of one near the town of Aldmor. Okay. And you have heard rumors of one in Esterhold. Okay. But you don't have any concrete evidence. So, Largo, think for a second, and you'll say, "Okay, so if we go to Esterhold to talk to the paladins there, and I think that we should do that. I think we should get another army to meet the army from Winterhaven, and to get Donhurst.

I don't like the idea of using the bell to resurrect a dragon, but I don't know enough about it. I think if we're in Esterhold, maybe we can find somebody who is a priest of Vecna to ask them more about, maybe about how possible it is. There's supposed to be some kind of hidden temple in Esterhold, I remember hearing. So maybe when we're there we can find them. Are they dangerous? He kind of shrugs. I don't think so. I mean, they worship a god of death, but they're not. They're still priests. Let's not tell them we have the bell though. Yeah, I agree. Agree.

I don't like it, but if you're right, and if you really talk to a dragon, and if the bell would really work, then maybe that's what we need. So I want to at least find out more. Me too, yeah. I admit, Larg, I don't know either. I don't really know much about the Therian pantheon, just that I know that they exist. I don't know if Vecna is bad or good or anything like that, but if they can help us save people, then that's what I care about. That's probably the best thing to do. He'll look, sorry, go ahead. Oh, he'll just look at everyone else and be like, "Sorry, I read the room." Brelyn just has an empty expression around his face.

He's like, "Man, all of me must be pretty valuable." And he kind of just chuckles to himself. Tatiana will sort of smirk. Eh, he was all right. And then she'll look towards Larg and Kaldin and say, "I mean, it sounds like the only plausible thing." And then he goes, "I don't know how I want to phrase this." Somebody else go, "I need a second." Michaela will speak up. She'll say, "If we're going to go to Esterhall, I've been doing some asking around, and there's a cavern on the way where we can find the rest of the ingredients we need to get Brelyn's memories back." Do we know anything about that cave?

Oh, I forgot to ask Jason. Can I have asked around a little bit more while we were waiting in town? You know what? Sure. Let's see how knowledgeable the locals would be. Do me a favor. Give me a flat d20. Great. Never heard of it. Perfect. Okay, so she'll just say, "All I know is the deep cavern, and that's usually where you'll find Bulmoss. I don't know much more than that." Well, if it's on the way, and if we can find a way to help Brelyn, it might be worth looking into. Tatiana, you were saying something? Sorry, my skin is being really weird, you guys. I'm trying to like, "Come on, baby, you can make it.

I'm sure we're almost there, come on." We're almost there. You got this. It's my mute button. It feels like it's sticking, because I'll be talking, but then it shows me as unmuted, but I'm still, I don't know, it's weird. Yeah, that might be why you're cutting out, but just a little bit further. Just a little bit more. So after saying that thing about Brelyn, she's gonna say, "I think heading to Esterhold is probably the good play." And then she's gonna look towards Larg in sort of, not awe, but in like, "I have some questions, buddy, about this speaking to your god thing that we're gonna get into at another point in time." And she's gonna say, "As long as we stick together, because if it's us six that are gonna be able to get this done, I don't wanna fuck that up." And he'll nod in response.

How do we help, Argh? Was Arathis clear on any of that? Do we just head to Esterhold? She didn't say. I don't know if she knew. But she seemed to think that it would be you. And it kind of indicates the whole table. So, you know, if that means we get help, then we get help. But I think Esterhold's a good place to start and we can find that cave on the way. Cullen leans back in his chair and nods, stares down at this stew, congealing, its disgusting fad on the top, and sees just his gaunt face reflecting in it, tired, haggard. And he just leans back and nods.

Brelin's gonna speak up. After looking through the journal while everyone's talking, he's gonna say, "Hey, Mr. Lark, some of those paladins that are still in Durnhollow, they're Arathis paladins, right?" Which ones? Your friends. The ones who used... well, Cauldron told me about the last city, Donhurst, and how you had a temple there and a bunch of your friends were also like you, paladins. Right? Yeah, Jason, there probably would have been a handful, right? I mean, if we're taking, again, vertical slice of the whole city, there's probably only a couple.

Yeah, I mean, we probably found a few when we were running around the city, right? Yeah. He's gonna say, "Do you think maybe one or two want to come with us to Esterhold?" They might have already gone to Winterhaven, but I can check and see. I mean, if you're, from what I've seen of paladin of Arathis, I can only imagine what having two of you would be like. Maybe even three. He kind of gets this smile, like the smile is just kind of like, "It's awesome." Besides, you're like, I would assume now, you're like an icon to them, you know? You died and you came back.

You're living proof that your work means a lot and means something in this place. And he's just gonna put his arms open, by "displace" I mean, you know, Daria. He kind of thinks about that and he's like, "Yeah, well, I don't know about that, but I can go see if they're still here." Or see if anybody at the temple wants to come. We'll take everybody. Yeah. Besides, I mean, it's technically your bell from what I read, so you should have a say in what happens to it. So let me ask, so it sounds like you guys are getting ready to embark south and move toward Esterhold again.

So there's a couple of loose things I want to wrap up. So let's do this first. Lar'e, do me a favor, roll a flat d20 and if it's a 17 or higher, we got something to do. Oh shit, that was almost a 19. Well, we got a 3. That means there are 3 paladins. I'd say they're probably long gone by now. Okay. Yeah, no, that was definitely worth a shot. Let's... Sorry, go ahead. I'm thinking out loud that the letter to Winterhaven probably will catch them by the time they get there, but that's about it. Yeah, probably. Okay, so... Oh yeah, they're probably helping refugees.

Yeah, I mean they got a lot to worry about already. Because only a handful of people can probably take care of themselves on the road, but they're traveling in a large enough pack that it should be fine. So, okay, getting ready to head south. You guys are... It's the second affair you're ready to go and you're grabbing stuff. Is there anything before we actually leave? Is there anything that you'd like to do? One last thing. I have... How much is a new cart? More than what we got. What do we got right now? Well, because it's attached to a logistic question.

Okay. I pulled 40 gold off the dead assassins, but Karen, I'm pretty sure I gave it to you. Is that the gold that you currently have now? Some of it. Okay, so then that's all the gold that I have. Okay. Yeah, so how much is a cart? Well, okay. What are you trying... Okay, essentially, how big is the cart? Are you trying to ride in it, or...? Just to, like, give us some speed, I guess. Expedite. Here's the thing. Carts aren't really for speed. It's to take wear and tear off of your body and to haul things. So a cart is probably going to be traveling about as fast as you guys would be briskly walking.

Okay. It's mostly just to, like, save your weary bones, that type of thing. If you guys were all riding horses, that would be different, but yeah. If you were going to ride a cart, it would probably be just... in this town? You know what? Let's see what they got available. Okay. So, on a scale of 1 to 10, they got a 3 sitting here, so it's not as nice as your old cart. But for 40 gold, you could walk away with this cart. You could... theoretically, you could all sit on it. It would not be comfy. You don't have a horse, though, huh? Oh, yeah, you gotta pull it.

Marge can pull it! No, he's just dying. How much would a horse be, though? A good horse, or one you could afford? An average horse. Tell me how much, and then I'll tell you how much I can afford. If you want a rickety old draft horse, like the kind you see out in fields pulling a plow, that type of thing, you could probably... high-end 50 gold. Well, because we would need, like, 3, ideally. Should we... let's try and talk to the sheriff. We just did her a favor. We killed a bunch of criminals. Come on. What? A favor is a... that is a lofty way of putting it.

Let's just steal some horses from Titus. I mean, how much worse could it be, really? Yeah, he's got less men now, too, so he's gonna... Do you want to try and steal horses from Titus? I kinda want to. It's a really bad idea, but the world is at stake. In Tatiana's eyes, the world's at stake. Her little sister's at stake. Let's see what Titus would have available. So, that's on sale at cost in town. Let's see what Titus has got, on a scale of 1 to 10. Ah, he's got the same shitty cart that would be available, but he does have two riding horses to pull it. So we'd have to buy a cart and then steal horses.

This is how we get into trouble in the first place, guys. How much faster would we be, though? You could get two riding horses pulling that cart. I mean, honestly, the horses would outperform the cart. You could get them to speed up a bit, but the cart would fall apart after a while. So you could shave some time off. I don't think it's worth the trouble. Yeah, it's a good cart. If it were a nice cart and great horses, I'd be down. But just because it's meh, no. Is there a stable nearby? We could just use Larg as a hero discount or something. People like him, right?

Enough to give a horse away. "Away! Discount!" I said. I didn't say "give away." Official Arathis business. I'd hold my badge up. Oh, you've got to commandeer a horse. My name is Larg. I'm a specter. I work for the Citadel. Isn't Dernhalleu where the Malchusmobile was built? Oh, God, was there? I'm thinking of Fairbay, where Group C got their cart built. No, Anderson Stables is where they got it outfitted, I believe. Pretty sure. I mean, you guys don't have the money for a custom cart. No, I'm just thinking that the same guy probably built just as ostentatious a cart for Titus Crane.

Oh, probably, yeah. And I kind of want to steal that. Larg doesn't. I do. Just a big T on the side of it. A big T. So you guys basically have a couple of options. You could try to barter with somebody at the stable, but a good riding horse starts at 75 gold and goes up from there. We are a bunch of hobos. I think we should just walk. Let's just walk. Alright, so here we go, guys. On your way, if you find those caverns, you could hit it up and try to help out Braelyn, and then you just move south until you get to the mountains. But let's see how things are going to kick off for you guys.

I think, Elena. Elena, could you do me a favor and give me a flat D20? Okay, everybody, cross your fingers. Cross, cross, cross. Hey! Seven, seven. I haven't done this in so long. Oh my goodness. We're all going to keep our pen and teams. Okay, I'm going to jot a couple of things down. 17 assassins. We find wild stallions on the side of the road. I was just going to say, "Wild stallions!" Guys, I think that's a good time for us to stop for the evening and kick things off with something a bit of good luck for group B in the next session. That's awesome. This episode took over the span of what, four days?

Yeah. So we achieved a new record. 2019, baby! Oh my god, finally. I really hope you guys enjoyed today's episode. Things are going to be ramping up within the next few months. We're back to our regular schedule. There will be an extended rest at the end of the month. We're also going to be streaming this pizza party thing. We're all going to be eating pizza and hanging out playing games for about six hours. Look for more information on Facebook and Twitter, on our Discord. If you're not on our Discord, man, you're missing a lot of really good conversation because that's kind of like our live version of the forums now.

It's really grown. I'm really proud of how that's turned out. If you guys have feedback, I've seen people post stuff that, "Oh, I missed the feedback episode." We're always taking feedback. So if you want to send us something, send it to dandrpodcast@gmail.com. That's dandrpodcast@gmail.com. That stuff is always helpful to us. We always want to hear from you guys. Good, bad, ugly, send it to us. And I always try to respond to you guys as quickly as possible and get you guys some kind of answer. As I said at the top of the show, I really want to spread the word this year.

We've always been really bad at self-promotion. We're not super good at it. But what we'd like to do is start posting in new places. We obviously have a Kickstarter coming up. I want to have the biggest crowd ever for Theriathon this year. That is April 20th, and it starts at noon Eastern time. And it wraps up at midnight Eastern time. So that is something we try to do every year, but it's pretty much just word of mouth. So if you guys have suggestions for things we could do to kind of branch out and let people know that we're around, we're always up for that too, because I'm terrible at pimping out the podcast.

I've always been bad at that. And we've thought about advertising and stuff, but we don't really know where to go to do that. We've never really had to before. So thank you guys so much. Again, send your email to dandrpodcast@gmail.com. Don't forget to rate the show and subscribe and all that good stuff. see you next week with a brand new Group A episode. Bye guys!
