Not wanting to become a vampire like the one that bit him, he decided instead to climb a nearby mountain and watch the sun rise one last time. However, with Ubo now gone, the group must now adjust. And that's where we pick up things today. Let's do that thing where we go around the table and introduce ourselves. I'm Jason, I'm the Dungeon Master going around the table starting with Susan. Hey, I'm Susan, I play Madeline, Ryoin, the human cleric.

Haha, you introduced yourself. That's just what I wanted. Haha, I mean I'm not. Haha, and Kelsey. I'm Kelsey and I play Aster, the Elven Archer. Oh, you've been played. I don't know what I'm supposed to do anymore. And Michael. Michael and I play Ambin, the half-elf wizard. Halfway forgot who I was here for a second. I feel like I really started this off on the wrong foot. I'm so sorry everybody. This is not helping the review process. I'm going to get fired. And Xavier. Hi, I'm Xavier and I play Donovan, the human fighter. Man, that was on the money. I loved it.

And last and certainly not least, James. Hi, I'm James and I play Masoka, the half-elf rogue. And it's totally on my own will and Jason has nothing to do with it. High five! Yeah. Before you write your emails and messages, Rob's coming back. Don't worry. He's not off the show or anything. I think people get worried about that every once in a while. Like, people aren't allowed to reroll. But yeah. Speaking of rerolling. Last session was a bit of a sad situation, obviously. I'd like to pick things up on the sixth of Alta Orn, up on this mountain. And let's pick things up in the early afternoon, somewhere in the one to two o'clock range.

Now, we had a little bit of a conversation before the session started. For canon's sake, was Ubo buried? I've been thinking about that for a few minutes. Because I'm not sure if I still have a shovel or not. But it's better like that because I think the appropriate way to bury Ubo is to build some sort of burial mound with rocks. To kind of elevate the peak of the mountain with Ubo. I think it's very symbolic. I'm kind of feeling myself with that idea. That's nice. And obviously steps were taken to ensure that he would not come back. Because that's not what he would have wanted.

How's everybody feeling at this point? Bummed out? Mattie has just been carrying out the motions. She really hasn't... She's very introspective and not really saying... She hasn't said anything, actually. I will make a point of saying that as they're preparing him for burial, she takes his chest cutting rock. Aw. You stole it from me. [laughter] Were you gonna weld that onto... I'm trying to figure out what to do with it. Attach it to your dagger. It's got its DNA on it. You can clone it. Yes! And... Amven is... There's a loss. But he's also got in the back of his mind that Ubo's been fighting to control any part of his future.

And he's glad he was able to control this for him. That he finally got what he wanted and the way he wanted it. And so he's feeling some closure there that he feels like he's at peace for that. It's still sad. It's still a loss. But he's glad Ubo got to do the thing that he wanted his way. For once. Yeah, that's kind of more of where the master is. They're just kind of letting people have their space and just like... They're sad, but yeah, kind of on some lines with Amven and also like... They've lived through a war. They're kind of used to people dying and stuff at this point.

Right. Clifford's bored? [laughter] Not because he didn't care about Ubo. It's been hours now and he's got that childhood thing. I mean, I didn't know him that well. Yeah. Yeah. So he's probably throwing rocks off the mountain here and just kind of kicking stuff, moving around. Like that type of thing. As far as Masoka, I don't think he's ever lost anyone that he considered a friend. So he's probably just trying to make sense of all the grief he's feeling. It's not really something that's familiar to him. Are you guys going to stay here the night? Are you camping out?

I don't think so. Well, unless anyone says otherwise, but I'm picturing like one o'clock, you said? Middle of the afternoon, maybe? Yeah, like one or two o'clock. That's another reason why Clifford's bored. He's got to tarp up, basically, and just keep the sun off him. So he can't even go anywhere. Yeah. Yeah, Donovan's been busy. He's kind of like handling the burial mound construction. So I imagine like it's mostly quiet and solemn the whole time. And once that's done and kind of like there's nothing more to do to this, he'd look over at Maddie, who's been staying quiet, looking at her new chest cutting rock.

Oh, she helped set up the burial mound. She hasn't just been staring at the rock. Yeah, I don't think Donovan was the only one doing it either. But I feel like everyone's kind of in their head through the whole thing. And yeah, Donovan doesn't really want to stay here for the whole night if they can start heading back down. But once everyone's kind of gotten their stuff back together, like their equipment gathered again, or like everyone seems in agreement that it might be time to go, Donovan would stand close to the burial mound and kind of like start speaking through the group to kind of get their attention.

And go like, "Hey, I'd like to say a few words if you should allow me." Maddie will nod. Yeah, she says she will nod. I'm not familiar with this, but with Ubo returning to the earth here, I think we can all agree that the mountain grew 100 feet today. Whatever life grows here at the summit is going to be made stronger by Ubo's spirit. I think I failed to save him from the vampires, from the demons, but especially from his own despair. I don't mourn his death. I think he went out the way he wanted. He dealt with his affliction according to his beliefs, and we promised him as much.

But I mourn for his life and the fact that we couldn't agree on what living meant. And I'm just so angry at myself for not being strong enough to prevent this. But I think I'm even angrier at the people who took his joy away. Set back after set back, I just feel like people have been chipping away at his ties with the good things in life. So I promise I'll never let that happen again, not to any one of you and not to anyone, period. I'm anyone who feels down or lives in regret or who's in the cusp of despair. I'm going to welcome with open arms now on and embrace them.

And I'll share whatever art and food I came across in my travels to those who need them. And I believe me, I'm going to make people who make other people suffer pay. Anyone who would make someone suffer for profit or power. I'm going to try to do my best to tear those people apart. And anyone who steals joy, I'm going to tear and release that joy back into the world. If that makes sense. And I'm going to do whatever I can with Matty's help. I don't know, but I'll do what I can to get the strength I need to settle a score with a countess and a vampire tiefling and a demon.

And you don't have to take this gig with me, but you won't see me be a bummer anymore. I'm going to keep smiling and drinking. And if I stop, I want you guys to remind me that I need to keep smiling to go ahead. And I just want to keep going with you, with Ubo and my heart forever. You're here. It's a great speech. I think Masoko would walk up to Donovan, look him in the eyes with a nod and give him a big hug. And just tell him, I'll go with you, brother. I'm here for you. And I want to take her down to and I want to do what I can for Ubo and I don't want to lose you.

And he embraces you back. Well, I'm not going to I'm not throwing myself off this mountain. I'm going to walk back down there stronger with you guys. So, yeah. Well, fearless titans, as they call us, we'll keep doing what we know how to do. And, you know, maybe people will maybe people will know that name at some point. That's the reason. Let's make sure that whatever we do against the Countess or however we go about that doesn't doesn't follow in the same footsteps as Ubo. Let's make some right decisions and not have others feel the same way. So let me ask a question of everybody.

What's the next step? Where are you going? Well, we were going to take Clifford to Aubrey. Yeah. And then we needed to get back to Winterhaven to talk to them about the results of our mission, get paid and talk about next steps. Yeah. Yeah. And on the way there, I think we should stop by Dunhurst for multiple reasons, but mostly to inform whatever survivors there are from Dunhurst, what the terms are. They're hollow down. Yeah. Yes. Now these are pretty darn rare, but useful in just about any ritual, potion, anything like that that involves healing. It's got to be handled carefully because it actually has a numbing agent. Like if you touched it bare, you know, without gloves or something like that, you can kind of lose feeling in your fingers.

It's not permanent, but it's, you know, so it's used for pain relief. It's used for all kinds of stuff. So that could definitely help. And even if it couldn't, it's worth some coin. Yeah. Now here's what I'm going to do for you. I want you to roll a flat d10. The higher the number, the more of it you're going to find. Okay. Boy. Nine! Okay. Oh yeah. So at a glance, I would say Astra's looking at that. This is one of those things where usually you have to go looking and you'll find, you'll find them growing very, it's like finding a four leaf plover type of thing.

So you might find like two or three, something like that. This is a little meadow full of them. I would say that you're looking at maybe 1000 to 1500 golds worth of flowers of mercy here. It's, it's worth some coin. Now let's get into why it's worth some coin. It's worth some coin because these usually grow in dangerous areas. They don't exactly grow on the side of the road. They grow in the mountains. They grow in off the beaten path places where you're likely ambushed by something. In a dragon's nest. Let's say. Oh, oh, no, no, no. The path is going to split to the left is a path that will take you clean out of the mountains, and it'll lead you back to the main road once you get beyond the river, you'll, you'll wrap around the pyre forest and go to during hollow, we could even use the remainder of your of your travel days and just look at it split get you back. Or you could take a chance and scoop up them flowers. I mean, I know what asteroids do. Do you tell everybody about this? Yeah, yeah, I mean, I'm not going to confirm with the group. They're not going to lie. So, so that is the thing where I'm like spotting it from a distance kind of or like, I would say it's one of those things because they're very, they're very bright flower.

It's a very bright white. So even at night, if there's some moonlight out, they kind of catch it and almost reflect it like they're, they don't glow per se, but it'll catch your eye in your peripheral probably pretty easily. It's got a skull in the corner. So the master will like, like they're probably a little bit ahead. So I can't even tell if that's written on the list. I couldn't tell you what aspirin is. Donovan probably like it's a. It's a pretty famous herb but it's famous because it's so rare. Yeah, yeah. So, so, so, after walls will look at the expressions on the so good and been spaces and will turn to Miss Oka for just be like, it's like a shit ton of gold and then they'll kind of like glance at having is kind of like, like, like just like they're not going to say anything but just that kind of like expression like you're a nerd you're supposed to know what this kind of stuff is. component.

Me, like everyone in in the like like turn back to look at the direction it is and just like I've never heard of there being like this many in a place which, like, probably means there might be some bad stuff around there but I think we can handle it and we're looking for like medicine stuff right for those. So, this one on the list for father why do we, we know what all our firms we need to achieve. Well, here's the thing. This thing probably wouldn't be on the list because it would be a non starter, it would be like, yeah, I mean it'd be great you're not gonna find that.

Esther's grin kind of like like like it doesn't completely drop the crime like falters a bit because just like the idea of like, okay, there's been some kind of like weird like God stuff happening, but then it is kind of like, that's where Maddie's minds, always that guys.

And then on you'll see like the Donovan do the, the math gift was going like making the calculations like, all right. Yeah, that's how it works. Yeah, and I said something about things growing here right so yeah it's definitely a sign. When a monitor closes a door, he opens. And then all of a sudden, like this giant explosion, like that, almost like you could feel the shockwave as it hits you and you just feel the heat hitting your face because this does 86 fire damage. Oh, that's a lot of high numbers. 36 damage. We might even have like a ringing in our ears because it's so freaking close. Oh, man, that is so going to set this fucking metal on fire, but it's OK.
