R3 episode 15 of the DNR Podcast is brought to you today by you lovely folks over at patreon.com/dandr. We've introduced a ton of new shows this month and we are not done yet. Town Crier completely unbalanced and two brand new role playing games are all debuting in the month of January.
Swing by patreon.com/dandr to find out more. Previously for group A, the group took a break from their adventure to say goodbye to a dear friend in Ubo. Not wanting to become a vampire like the one that bit him, he decided instead to climb a nearby mountain and watch the sun rise one last time. However, with Ubo now gone, the group must now adjust. And that's where we pick up things today. Let's do that thing where we go around the table and introduce ourselves. I'm Jason, I'm the Dungeon Master going around the table starting with Susan. Hey, I'm Susan, I play Madeline, Ryoin, the human cleric.
Haha, you introduced yourself. That's just what I wanted. Haha, I mean I'm not. Haha, and Kelsey. I'm Kelsey and I play Aster, the Elven Archer. Oh, you've been played. I don't know what I'm supposed to do anymore. And Michael. Michael and I play Ambin, the half-elf wizard. Halfway forgot who I was here for a second. I feel like I really started this off on the wrong foot. I'm so sorry everybody. This is not helping the review process. I'm going to get fired. And Xavier. Hi, I'm Xavier and I play Donovan, the human fighter. Man, that was on the money. I loved it.
And last and certainly not least, James. Hi, I'm James and I play Masoka, the half-elf rogue. And it's totally on my own will and Jason has nothing to do with it. High five! Yeah. Before you write your emails and messages, Rob's coming back. Don't worry. He's not off the show or anything. I think people get worried about that every once in a while. Like, people aren't allowed to reroll. But yeah. Speaking of rerolling. Last session was a bit of a sad situation, obviously. I'd like to pick things up on the sixth of Alta Orn, up on this mountain. And let's pick things up in the early afternoon, somewhere in the one to two o'clock range.
Now, we had a little bit of a conversation before the session started. For canon's sake, was Ubo buried? I've been thinking about that for a few minutes. Because I'm not sure if I still have a shovel or not. But it's better like that because I think the appropriate way to bury Ubo is to build some sort of burial mound with rocks. To kind of elevate the peak of the mountain with Ubo. I think it's very symbolic. I'm kind of feeling myself with that idea. That's nice. And obviously steps were taken to ensure that he would not come back. Because that's not what he would have wanted.
How's everybody feeling at this point? Bummed out? Mattie has just been carrying out the motions. She really hasn't... She's very introspective and not really saying... She hasn't said anything, actually. I will make a point of saying that as they're preparing him for burial, she takes his chest cutting rock. Aw. You stole it from me. [laughter] Were you gonna weld that onto... I'm trying to figure out what to do with it. Attach it to your dagger. It's got its DNA on it. You can clone it. Yes! And... Amven is... There's a loss. But he's also got in the back of his mind that Ubo's been fighting to control any part of his future.
And he's glad he was able to control this for him. That he finally got what he wanted and the way he wanted it. And so he's feeling some closure there that he feels like he's at peace for that. It's still sad. It's still a loss. But he's glad Ubo got to do the thing that he wanted his way. For once. Yeah, that's kind of more of where the master is. They're just kind of letting people have their space and just like... They're sad, but yeah, kind of on some lines with Amven and also like... They've lived through a war. They're kind of used to people dying and stuff at this point.
Right. Clifford's bored? [laughter] Not because he didn't care about Ubo. It's been hours now and he's got that childhood thing. I mean, I didn't know him that well. Yeah. Yeah. So he's probably throwing rocks off the mountain here and just kind of kicking stuff, moving around. Like that type of thing. As far as Masoka, I don't think he's ever lost anyone that he considered a friend. So he's probably just trying to make sense of all the grief he's feeling. It's not really something that's familiar to him. Are you guys going to stay here the night? Are you camping out?
I don't think so. Well, unless anyone says otherwise, but I'm picturing like one o'clock, you said? Middle of the afternoon, maybe? Yeah, like one or two o'clock. That's another reason why Clifford's bored. He's got to tarp up, basically, and just keep the sun off him. So he can't even go anywhere. Yeah. Yeah, Donovan's been busy. He's kind of like handling the burial mound construction. So I imagine like it's mostly quiet and solemn the whole time. And once that's done and kind of like there's nothing more to do to this, he'd look over at Maddie, who's been staying quiet, looking at her new chest cutting rock.
Oh, she helped set up the burial mound. She hasn't just been staring at the rock. Yeah, I don't think Donovan was the only one doing it either. But I feel like everyone's kind of in their head through the whole thing. And yeah, Donovan doesn't really want to stay here for the whole night if they can start heading back down. But once everyone's kind of gotten their stuff back together, like their equipment gathered again, or like everyone seems in agreement that it might be time to go, Donovan would stand close to the burial mound and kind of like start speaking through the group to kind of get their attention.
And go like, "Hey, I'd like to say a few words if you should allow me." Maddie will nod. Yeah, she says she will nod. I'm not familiar with this, but with Ubo returning to the earth here, I think we can all agree that the mountain grew 100 feet today. Whatever life grows here at the summit is going to be made stronger by Ubo's spirit. I think I failed to save him from the vampires, from the demons, but especially from his own despair. I don't mourn his death. I think he went out the way he wanted. He dealt with his affliction according to his beliefs, and we promised him as much.
But I mourn for his life and the fact that we couldn't agree on what living meant. And I'm just so angry at myself for not being strong enough to prevent this. But I think I'm even angrier at the people who took his joy away. Set back after set back, I just feel like people have been chipping away at his ties with the good things in life. So I promise I'll never let that happen again, not to any one of you and not to anyone, period. I'm anyone who feels down or lives in regret or who's in the cusp of despair. I'm going to welcome with open arms now on and embrace them.
And I'll share whatever art and food I came across in my travels to those who need them. And I believe me, I'm going to make people who make other people suffer pay. Anyone who would make someone suffer for profit or power. I'm going to try to do my best to tear those people apart. And anyone who steals joy, I'm going to tear and release that joy back into the world. If that makes sense. And I'm going to do whatever I can with Matty's help. I don't know, but I'll do what I can to get the strength I need to settle a score with a countess and a vampire tiefling and a demon.
And you don't have to take this gig with me, but you won't see me be a bummer anymore. I'm going to keep smiling and drinking. And if I stop, I want you guys to remind me that I need to keep smiling to go ahead. And I just want to keep going with you, with Ubo and my heart forever. You're here. It's a great speech. I think Masoko would walk up to Donovan, look him in the eyes with a nod and give him a big hug. And just tell him, I'll go with you, brother. I'm here for you. And I want to take her down to and I want to do what I can for Ubo and I don't want to lose you.
And he embraces you back. Well, I'm not going to I'm not throwing myself off this mountain. I'm going to walk back down there stronger with you guys. So, yeah. Well, fearless titans, as they call us, we'll keep doing what we know how to do. And, you know, maybe people will maybe people will know that name at some point. That's the reason. Let's make sure that whatever we do against the Countess or however we go about that doesn't doesn't follow in the same footsteps as Ubo. Let's make some right decisions and not have others feel the same way. So let me ask a question of everybody.
What's the next step? Where are you going? Well, we were going to take Clifford to Aubrey. Yeah. And then we needed to get back to Winterhaven to talk to them about the results of our mission, get paid and talk about next steps. Yeah. Yeah. And on the way there, I think we should stop by Dunhurst for multiple reasons, but mostly to inform whatever survivors there are from Dunhurst, what the terms are. They're hollow down. Yeah. Yes. We never go back to the others. Not for a long time. Not until we've gotten a few more levels. Maybe we have an army at our back.
Yeah. But I mean, it makes sense to stop by Dirt Hall anyways, because we probably all want like a bath or something and it's on the way. So yes. Yeah. No reason not to do that. So it sounds like you guys are heading west then. Yes. Yes. Yes. I was going to argue for a thing. Last session, we rolled a d4 to get here and Rob rolled a 4 and we spent two and a half days to get here. I want to know if that 1.5 day remaining can be used or not. Wow. I like Sparzany. It's in my notebook. Oh, that's good. We should get our bunnies worth. Yeah, we have days in hand. It's like vacation days.
Yes. Those roll over to the next payroll, right? You know what? I'll do this, because I'm not unreasonable. Depends on who you ask. Well, Rob's not on the call anymore. That's right. We're going to do a thing and then whatever the result of that is afterward, we could use the remainder of those days. How does that sound? Okay. Suspicious, but yeah. What? Okay, I'm going to need one of you to roll a flat d20 with a negative five for me. Why? Uh, reasons. Anyone? Anyone? I think Kelsey volunteered. Oh, I love that idea. Okay, so this is your fault, not mine. Okay, it's a 12.
I'll take it with a negative. Yeah, yeah. So here's what's going to happen. You guys are going to start to descend this mountain and I'm going to give you a choice between two paths and I want you to first make a perception check for me. Who's leading the group? Um, she has the highest perception now, I guess. I got a plus seven. Give it to me. Let's go. Okay, I'm going to roll again. Let's see. 15. You're so negative. You're doing great. So far. Yeah. I'm so scared. So, Astra's going to make a choice. You're coming back down the mountain here and at this point, I would say it's dark.
Let's say it's nine, 10 o'clock somewhere in there. And the path is going to deviate. Give me a survival check. Just for a thing. Me again? Yep. Okay. 15. Okay, another 15. Okay. So you are going to spot something worth a bit of money. Ooh. Yeah, you're going to spot some rare herbs. Some flowers of mercy. Now these are pretty darn rare, but useful in just about any ritual, potion, anything like that that involves healing. It's got to be handled carefully because it actually has a numbing agent. Like if you touched it bare, you know, without gloves or something like that, you can kind of lose feeling in your fingers.
It's not permanent, but it's, you know, so it's used for pain relief. It's used for all kinds of stuff. So that could definitely help. And even if it couldn't, it's worth some coin. Yeah. Now here's what I'm going to do for you. I want you to roll a flat d10. The higher the number, the more of it you're going to find. Okay. Boy. Nine! Okay. Oh yeah. So at a glance, I would say Astra's looking at that. This is one of those things where usually you have to go looking and you'll find, you'll find them growing very, it's like finding a four leaf plover type of thing.
So you might find like two or three, something like that. This is a little meadow full of them. I would say that you're looking at maybe 1000 to 1500 golds worth of flowers of mercy here. It's, it's worth some coin. Now let's get into why it's worth some coin. It's worth some coin because these usually grow in dangerous areas. They don't exactly grow on the side of the road. They grow in the mountains. They grow in off the beaten path places where you're likely ambushed by something. In a dragon's nest. Let's say. Oh, oh, no, no, no. So here's what I'm going to do for you.
The path is going to split to the left is a path that will take you clean out of the mountains, and it'll lead you back to the main road once you get beyond the river, you'll, you'll wrap around the pyre forest and go to during hollow, we could even use the remainder of your of your travel days and just look at it split get you back. Or you could take a chance and scoop up them flowers. I mean, I know what asteroids do. Do you tell everybody about this? Yeah, yeah, I mean, I'm not going to confirm with the group. They're not going to lie. So, so that is the thing where I'm like spotting it from a distance kind of or like, I would say it's one of those things because they're very, they're very bright flower.
It's a very bright white. So even at night, if there's some moonlight out, they kind of catch it and almost reflect it like they're, they don't glow per se, but it'll catch your eye in your peripheral probably pretty easily. Yes. Is there a voice saying don't pick the plants? There's no voice. No, because I've been in that situation. Listen to the voice. Is this area outlined in red like it's too high level for us. It's got a skull in the corner. So the master will like, like they're probably a little bit ahead. And then they'll come like they they kind of like spot this and immediately like perk up and come like, like jogging back to the group and they've got like a big grin on their face just.
Guys, you will not believe this. It's. Okay, so, um, we got two paths ahead and one is probably safer. Yeah, but okay. Do you know what what flowers of mercy are? The, the, the nummy herb that's like really really rare and stuff right. Yes. You can give me a survival or medical. Oh, no. Oh, and then so on. Both three. So I can't even tell if that's written on the list. I couldn't tell you what aspirin is. Donovan probably like it's a. It's a pretty famous herb but it's famous because it's so rare. Yeah, yeah. So, so, so, after walls will look at the expressions on the so good and been spaces and will turn to Miss Oka for just be like, it's like a shit ton of gold and then they'll kind of like glance at having is kind of like, like, like just like they're not going to say anything but just that kind of like expression like you're a nerd you're supposed to know what this kind of stuff is. component.
Me, like everyone in in the like like turn back to look at the direction it is and just like I've never heard of there being like this many in a place which, like, probably means there might be some bad stuff around there but I think we can handle it and we're looking for like medicine stuff right for those. So, this one on the list for father why do we, we know what all our firms we need to achieve. Well, here's the thing. This thing probably wouldn't be on the list because it would be a non starter, it would be like, yeah, I mean it'd be great you're not gonna find that.
This would, if it's a poison. This would probably cure that right up. Okay, so he's gonna raise that was gonna raise an eyebrow and look at Maddie and say it's so this could keep possibly help father white, and the other eyebrows gonna raise and look at Esther and see, and it's worth a lot. And he's gonna eyeball the group. I think, I think that might be a good idea to. I think it's a sign, because we just gave mercy to do bow, and then we come across the flower mercy. Esther's grin kind of like like like it doesn't completely drop the crime like falters a bit because just like the idea of like, okay, there's been some kind of like weird like God stuff happening, but then it is kind of like, that's where Maddie's minds, always that guys.
And then on you'll see like the Donovan do the, the math gift was going like making the calculations like, all right. Yeah, that's how it works. Yeah, and I said something about things growing here right so yeah it's definitely a sign. When a monitor closes a door, he opens. He'll go down to cliff, and he'll get down to his height and say, Alright, so we're going to take a different approach. This time, okay. Strategy. Stick with Masaoka all right and stay back. Stay back. Like Masaoka should do. Yeah, never again. Don't tell me to run. Alright. I mean, while they're under the bridge at this point.
But it'll make it'll make my job and Maddie's job, a lot easier if I'm the only one up close in there. Maddie's gonna raise an eyebrow, because she's always right next to you. Mommy with Maddie to bring me back up from a certain death. So, suit yourself but if I see trouble me and cliff are bouncing. I. Maddie's gonna glance to Clifford and back to Masaoka, some of my spells might hurt. And then she can look back to Clifford, you. So, watch out. Give like a solemn nod like okay. He's pumped now like, what, okay. First of all, you caught him cliff, like, boom, like that's it.
Secondly, what he took from the speech you just gave us you guys are getting ready for a fight. We're gonna go pick flowers. I'm going to use Astor's survival check from earlier to harvest these flowers, unless you want to try for a higher one. Oh man, of course I rolled like a 10. Can I can I cast guidance on her on that on them. Sorry. Yeah, we can do that. That would be wonderful. So we're gonna take whatever the next role is as Hannah. Add a deep work. Okay. Okay, so I'm gonna roll up first. Okay. Man, you're on fire tonight. Oh man, don't say that. 27! You're gonna get every last flower neatly like they're neatly pressed and packed there, they're they're ready for transport.
You have quite a lot of these flowers. This stuff is worth probably more than gold. Like, now. Let's do something else. So what kind of snapping turtle monster was it on the back of? Yeah, it's aliens. Can't wait for the alien arc. We're gonna have we're gonna have someone else roll now because I think I think Astor's done their part. I'm too scared to roll again. That's fine. Astor can retire now. Yeah, you're good. Honestly, so I made it. They got there. Take the money and run. Just go. Okay, so here's what we're gonna do. We know that there's stuff here. And we know that you guys took a while to get all this stuff.
So what we're gonna do is we're gonna roll a d6. Now, on a five or a six, nothing's gonna happen. Who would like to do me the favor? And I know if anybody's good at rolling d6s. I'm testing fate here. What you can you can decline? No, no, I'm just think about this logistically Donovan's in there already. Metaphysical role. 19 health points. That's fine. It'll be a good role because he's not really this is true. This is true. If you roll a six, I'm just going to be bummed. Go ahead. Let's do it. All right, guys. Here we go. That's a one. It could have been a two.
It could have been a three. It could have been a four, but it wasn't one. So prophecy can you screenshot this for Twitter again? I just I don't want to bait them. Well, let me get a map for you guys. Let me roll again. Just a fun. I just want to see three. No more d6s. It's my role. It belongs to me. Xavier and I would have like rioted if anybody else rolled that six. No. Oh, man. Oh, I got to close out Trent. Oh, goodbye, Trent. Oh, he's on the track. Oh, we got to get rid of that. Oh, man, you guys are short of Trent. Oh, sure. Hiding in the bushes like watching.
I'm sorry. No, he wouldn't be creepy. He's Trent. Exactly something he would do. He's trying to be better. He's just yeah. His his occupation is drifter ladies, man, and quote unquote, thug. Yeah. Sounds like a cool antihero. Recovering. He just needs his redemption arc. That's all. That's it. He could have had it with us, but he left us behind. Do you know what he needs? He needs a lady to change him. That's what he needs. Oh, oh, right. That was it. We're going to get back to dirt hollow and he's going to be gambling. We'll just like get him back in our party, right?
Yeah. Yeah. He's getting chased out of town because he owes so much money. You're going to go see about a girl you're going to you're going to see he's going to he's going to he's going to find Callie. He's going to settle down. I put a I put the hashtag ass Trent down on Discord. Yeah, that's that's my ship. Yeah. Thank you. Also, ass Trent makes me giggle. Yes. How far in are we from the other path? We just go back. If it's something we can run from, that's an option. Well, if Clifford will run from it is another question. I mean, we can just pick him up. He's portable.
That is disrespectful. True. Children. Just keep in mind, he does have things that we don't want to upset him. Kids are irrational sometimes. He's also a murderer now, thanks to you. All right. Are we ready to see what you're fighting? I mean, yeah. So a bunch of sheaves. I'm down. Oh, oh, oh, oh. Hill giants, baby for Hill Giants. This is super duper bad. What do we have seen them? They're giants. That's true. They are giants. Well, I would say you'd hear the stomping. They might be. They might be. Good one. I would say that you'd hear the stomping, but then it's coming from all sides.
It's like, ah, I don't know where to run. That type of thing. And then by the time you get your your bearings, give me initiative is what I'm saying. Oh, it's a pleasure playing with you guys. Yeah. Did we steal from your garden? Like, what the? Are we all going out with Ubo? Is that the plan? Well, you can't hurt me if I don't roll initiative. So could not have his father's initiative. There's a bad trend happening. Well, Clifford rolled high. Clifford's right after Astor, like twenty two. Twenty two. They're ready. Oh, my God. Aspen, the table hates you. One plus one.
It has been a pleasure. I enjoyed the game. Oh, buddy. Thank you for everything. And just for this is only initiative. It doesn't mean you're going to die. I'm only surrounded by them. Insights like these pictures of these four giants are pretty nasty, too. I'm kind of terrified. We're fighting for kingpins right now. Yeah, they're there. Yeah. I like I'm in trouble. Attack on Titan. Attack on Titan. Yeah. All right. Well, can one of us turn into a titan? Let's get this shit. Everyone, bite yourself. Hey, so these four hill giants. So you OK. This is a very Minecraft situation you find yourself in because you are packing lots of valuable gifts.
What you don't want to do now is die. Minecraft? Yeah, I'm saying like, you know, it's like you're harvesting diamonds and then all of a sudden, oh, lava. Yep. James, you remember that day where you fell in lava like six times? Oh, it's a pain. I know all too well. I was playing Subnautica last night and lost everything. And it's the opposite. It was water. A good game. Anyway. OK, so any consensus on which one we're focusing on and which direction we're going? I'm seeing a big gap to the right. Maybe you should just beeline it through there. Hit the ugly one.
But if Clifford attacks one of them, Masocha is not leaving. Yeah, and we can't SWAT team this. We don't know. Thank you. OK, I have I've sorry ever since group two. I'm like, oh, God, I don't want to ever do that again. I used to be the perpetrator, so I was taken. OK, OK. These giants, I imagine they're just pushing trees aside and stuff like that. They're they're honing in there. These are big boys to a question. Yeah. Two giants speak the common tongue. They speak giant. We've actually made a canon. I do, too. I don't. Oh, it was it was great because Elorath does.
And it was one of those things that I think Lisa just took. It's like, yeah, I'll speak giant, whatever. And then it came up one day and she managed to scream a hill giant down. Yeah. Yeah. OK, so I'm attacking. You got this. I think we need to methodically take these down one at a time. One of these six will hit hill giant one. But it's do damage. I get another attack. Oh, oh, you. Yeah, that's a good start. I am so proud of you. Oh, my God. Oh, it's almost max damage again, but with a crit. OK, and then what's my speed is thirty five. That's oh, the squares are hard to see on this map.
Yeah, they're very, very good. OK, I'm trying to kind of go right there and then I'm going to use my cunning actions, take a bonus action to hide. So give me a stealth roll. Yeah. Eighteen. Wow. OK, so the rest of the party, you are on your own. But no, no, no, no. Just scampering under a bush. But Esther loves hiding. This is not. Thirty three damage to Hill Giant one. What a great opening salvo. Holy crap. Astor just like fires off these like two arrows like real quick and just dashes off into the woods. And they're gone. That's it. Clifford's turn. Now, you did tell Clifford to chill.
I would say under the circumstances, there's a 75 percent chance he's going to ignore that. So here's what we're going to do. What about the spells killing him? Well, in his mind, this is you didn't plan for Hill. No one could plan for giants. So here's what we're going to do. I'm going to roll a flat D20. On a 16 through 20, he's going to choke. He's going to he's going to back you up. Anything less than that, he's going to attack and he'll probably he'll probably attack Hill giant one, because it's like, I mean, it's got to be on the verge of death now.
Here we go. That's a five. OK, Clifford is going to who baby. Clifford is going to advance to Hill giant one. At least he's there. He's better. He's courageous. He's my hero. He's going to use well, he's going to use these Nux. I mean, what else would he use? Right? Yeah. Little punchy stabby. I'm just the size difference. Oh, it's stupid. Like, where are you attacking it? I think up at this point, I think up at this point, M'Soka is standing there like a proud father. OK. Oh, my God. You two, I'm leaving you two here. OK, bye. Yeah. Enjoy fatherhood. Oh, boy. All right.
Targeting. That's an 11. That's going to miss. So I imagine it doesn't even miss. He just hits the shin of this giant and it does nothing. It's just it's that sound of like wet meat slapping like like nothing. Mattie's turn. A little bit of concern in the focus. Mattie is going to yell real quick to the so-called. Grab Clifford and let's get out of here and then just target. We'll get number three. So we're not being attacked from behind all of the sudden. Oh, I got to move that. Oh, shit. This thing is big. OK, I'm sorry. How do I move that, Jason? Right in the center.
Yeah, there you go. That's all it goes. I want a little further north, but I can't go up anymore. So I don't want it that close to Ammon. I think it's off the map now. Just a little just one more square up. Hold on. I moved it down. That's right. Hey, did it. I need bigger maps. OK, and then I'm going to cast a little old something called fireball. Hey, thank you. Oh, no. Oh, he failed his deck's check. The hill giant. Whoa. The minus one modifier. Yeah, no, he's he did not move out of the way. OK, so here's what here's what happens. She turns to Misoka, yells, grab Clifford and let's get out of here.
The whole time she's holding her hands together, kind of like like and swirling them around, and then this light keeps growing in her hands. And then she like tosses it at the hill giant. And then all of a sudden, like this giant explosion, like that, almost like you could feel the shockwave as it hits you and you just feel the heat hitting your face because this does 86 fire damage. Oh, that's a lot of high numbers. 36 damage. We might even have like a ringing in our ears because it's so freaking close. Oh, man, that is so going to set this fucking metal on fire, but it's OK.
It's going to be OK. Anything else? Oh, and then movement because she told him what we need to do. Get out of there. OK. OK. Yeah. OK. Misoka. OK, this is not going to be easy. Hey, being a parent isn't. Don't forget your cunning action. Yeah, but I know the best I can do is grab him and move back to where I am. You can use it to dash, which is like twice your movement. So, oh, grab him and then twice my movement. Yeah. Yeah, but with that, wouldn't he still take an opportunity attack? Clifford? Probably. Yeah, because he has it. Clifford's no rogue. OK. Maybe you could take it for him.
Oh, God, I'm going to have to know what's the better option. Oh, you guys. All right. I'm going to say things really highly technical again, but you could use your your rogue your rogue thing to disengage. Have have your your movement and grapple Clifford like last time, because forced movement doesn't provoke. But then the giant could just walk up to them. But I can get behind Clifford is Clifford that's going to take the opportunity attack. If you if you flee with with Clifford technically, that's why I'm saying like it's a technical rule. But like if you force him to move for the force movement, he wouldn't provoke from the giant.
Oh, yeah, because pushing someone out of the way doesn't provoke. Yeah. So all you have to. But if he's going to struggle. Yeah. That's the OK. So I'm going to have to make some sort of check. Oh, yes. But so technically what you're saying is I can take three spaces out, grab him and then dash out of there at double my speed. I would be it would be if you do that, you're going to take the opportunity attack if you disengage instead. Yes. Oh, wait. No. Right. You would. Sorry. Bonus would be disengaging or dashing, but then you need your action to grapple him. So then you're left with just your move normal movement.
So you choose between disengage or dash. Basically, it was the opportunity to. One, two, three. Even if I. Yeah, you know what, I'm going to have to take the opportunity to attack or I just attack the giants. And risk. Yeah. How many have. Yeah. He's not enough that I can. Big boys. Big boys. OK, I will walk up to Clifford or whatever. Get there easily, but I'm not dashing right now. He'll say. Good try, but we should probably get out of here. And he'll be laughing, too, because it's just absurd. Clifford will turn and say, I almost got him. You do not almost have him.
That fireball that almost had him. Can you do that? Because if you can't, then we're going now. I'm turning this wagon around. So he will attempt to grab Clifford. And then dash out of there and provoke or take the opportunity attack. So you're taking the attack action to grab Clifford. Yeah. OK, you give me an athletics check. I'm sorry, Clifford. What would he be using? Oh, he'd be using his. Yeah. OK, he's going to use acrobatics to try and dodge out of the way. Like a little kid. You can't catch me. A little hazard. A little kid with something in front of him who wants to kill it or kill him.
But think of the cred. 13. So now it's long. As long as Clifford doesn't roll a 13 or higher, you're fine. 23. So you're going to try it. I almost imagine it's like a scrub of the neck thing. Yeah, he's just going to like, just dodge out of the way and he's going to ready his fist to take another swing at this giant. Which way does Clifford go? To stay in that square? Let's let's say here. Oh, no, not that way. He's going to dodge inward toward the giant more. He's basically caressing the giant. He's in his head. He's like, man, I'm going to be standing on top of the giant.
You're going to feel silly like that. You're you don't even know. You're going to see it, man. You can't you can't steal the circus moves. He can try, but he's not going to get on that giant. So. It's really tough trying to grab a vampire kid. We've all found out. This didn't work. It didn't work. Sometimes kids have to fail on their own. I can't. I know, but I can't just leave him there. You learn. I'm at a loss. What I'm thinking right now is dashing the opposite way of the group so I can come back and try that again. Just like, take another running start. Yeah.
You know what else you could do? You can get on the other side of this giant tag team. It's that you could stab out the giant's eyes. Good. Oh, God. But I've used my action all I have. You have moved me. Pardon? You have some movement left. I have some movement left, but I can't attack. No. OK. He'll go. Yeah. You know what? He'll go behind him. If anything, just to get the giant's attention off of Clifford. OK. Where are you moving? Back here. That'll do it. OK. OK. OK. He will dash back there. OK. Well, that's an action, right? Dash bonus. OK, cool. OK. By coming in. That's right.
Yeah. Rogue stuff. OK, cool, cool, cool. All right. Hill giant number three is on fire. But not in a good way. He's going to he's going to be going like he's he's very not he's not enjoying the fire. Pretty light. And then it hit him and it hurt. Yeah, no. Yeah. OK. It the fire spreads around the corners, ignites flammable objects in the area, like, say, trees, bushes, trees, grass, you know. OK. Like this whole area. Good, good, good stuff. Giant hair. You have loincloths. Yes. So you know what? I'm going to give him two D six extra fire damage because he's soaking up a lot of that.
Right. So, boom. How about that? Yeah. Softly kind of you, sir. Now he's going to advance towards Amden. Oh, no. It's awfully kind of you. I didn't blow him up. No, you're right. You didn't. I didn't do it. She did it. Stomp, stomp, stomp, stomp. So small. OK, that's not out of it. No, I was joking. Thank God. I was trying to draw him away from him. Well, you did. Well, you accidentally drew him towards Astor. Astor. Yeah, it's fine. They'll be fine. All right. Let's target a Maddy. He's going to make two great club attacks. Number one. 21 will hit. Number two. 15 will miss.
So he's just going to hit once. 15 damage to Maddy. That's like almost all of Amden's HP. Yeah. Oh, what do you want to bet with Amden's luck? He would have created twice or something like this. Yeah. Donovan. Donovan is like. Masocha goes around the giant across from from Cliff and Cliff will see a hand ax flung across the little clearing and hit. Well, I mean, hopefully hit that giant while Donovan shouts, Cliff, you're making this hard for me, bud. Oh, yeah. No one followed any of the rules. No, I imagine that this is all on the kid. This is this is one of those things where you guys had a plan and then Masocha goes away and then goes deeper into the.
Yep. He's got a soft spot for kids. It's it's a weakness. I get plus two because I got some allies over there. I'll get a plus two. Might have to have a team meeting after this. You might. All right. Holy shit. Twenty nine. Oh, hit. All right. I'm going to I'm going to use voting attack. That'll chestnut. I'm going to add to the eight. OK. Which is going to be five. So I'm going to do plus five and I'm going to do the damage. OK. And he so 14 damage, 14 damage, and he needs to roll a DC 16 wisdom saving throw. Oh, oh, well, I mean, you're what's your wisdom, big guy?
No, he wrote mine. So he'll take disadvantage if he attacks me. So correct was like anyone. And I got a second attack. OK. And he'll toss his second hand axe at the other hill giant. You know, what goes back? Are you trying to get to Hill Giants on you? They don't have to come for me. It was just like, you know, not as good on the other people. I mean, are you going? I am going to do it somehow. We have so many opportunity to access. Yeah, I was about to say they're dumb as hell, so they'll just do it. So I might instead target Hill Giants for. OK. Yeah. You have to enter the fray.
Yes. Because I see him close to Matty Bear. Yeah. OK, here we go. Another 19. Oh my God. Seven. Yes. So going attack against another D8. OK, this time I'll be plus six. Damage. 13 and DC 16 wisdom saving throw, please. Oh, sorry. Oh, holy crap. Yes. OK. He's here. Yeah, he saw what you did. The other guy. Oh, I know. Dummy. And he's OK. And then Donovan will move because I still have my movement and he'll go. He'll flank with Matty. How about that? Yeah. OK. Maybe get in front of him. Yeah. Yeah. I'll flank with who's there. I don't know who. Yes. I think you're still technically.
Yeah, you're you're still flanking with with both of us. Yeah, you're fine. You're on as long as you're on the opposite side. Yeah, I just want to be close. Yeah. Because you're a defender. They need to. All right. Cool. All right. Hill giant number two. Well. Hmm. Well, this is a mess. He falls asleep. I think I want to say there's a there's an argument to to to go attack Clifford and the Soka, but I don't think either one of them have been a threat. So I think. Hill giant's going to move over here. And he's going to make two attacks, one against Donovan and one against Ammon.
OK. OK. Just before you attack Ammon. Yes. The moment he swings at Ammon, Donovan will extend his shield and use his reaction to use protection. Because in training with Matty, he he picked that up. I'm giving this advantage. That's probably good. So, OK, here we go first. Donovan, you learned how to use that war hammer. 20 will hit Donovan. And 22 damage. Uh huh. OK. OK. Now, Hanvin. So what does this give him an extra two AC or disadvantage? Disadvantage. Disadvantage. Here we go. That would not be 22. Yeah. That's why disadvantage 19 still hits unless you smoke. Do you have ninja smoke pockets and.
Is it low enough to work? No. If I shield gives me a plus five and a five plus a 14 is a 19. This was meant to be so OK. Low rolls, everybody. Here we go. 19 damage that'll knock it out. I didn't even get to do anything. And could you give me a death saving? Please? Sorry. Well, who? Sure. Here we go. One moment. Here we go. Five. It's OK. Your life is attached to demons, so you can't die. We only have one healer now. Oh, no. Yeah, we're like at low party capacity. Yes. But you're up a Clifford. I was just a great right now. I trade him in for a juice for a drink. I trade him in for two health potions for two drinks.
No, we've got portions. Yeah. Yeah. OK, so he'll giant number four. Oh, boy. How do you feel? Giant number four. We survived this. I'm giving Clifford a stern talking to you. You need to think he needs a spanking. I think he's going to be the disciplinary. Wait, you know what? OK, I'm going to say, would he be smart enough to flank? Let's see. Eleven or higher. Yes. One through ten. No. OK, yes. He's going to be smart enough to flank. Well, wait, he's clean off the table. Yeah, he glitched. He thought about it. Oh, no. What just happened? It's a baby. We're doing a speed run with glitches allowed.
Hold on. OK, he's back. Don't worry. Don't worry, guys. I thought maybe his brain popped from thinking to that was. Yeah, I just scroll over. Dumb, dumb. I'm the hill giant now. OK, here you go. He is going to target. He's he's I guess, Maddy. It's going to target Maddy twice. Here we go with advantage. No, no. Before he hits a fire engulfs Maddy, but it's just really bright. And I use warding flare, which imposes disadvantage. So I guess it just cancels it. Just a regular ass swing. OK, that's smart. Here we go. Five is going to miss. Well, 13 and. Oh, wait. It only counts for the one.
Yeah. Between yourself and me when you are attacked. Yeah, I guess it's only once. OK, so he does get one more swing, but he's right for it. So here we go. 17. And 11 damage to Maddy. OK, no giant number one. We know this is the one over here. So you're number one. Meanwhile, I feel down number one. Yeah. Hey, Clifford, you want to see what a TV looks like? You want to know what a kid is going to look down. And he's going to raise his club. Doesn't he have disadvantage from Donnie's attack? Oh, you're right. You know what? He did get a hand ax thrown at him. You know what?
I call him ugly. You did. He hates it. You lucky kid. He's going to come over here. Attacks of opportunities from both. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Give me what's what's your Oh, Clifford. But yes. Oh, I didn't realize Clifford has a multi attack. Oh, I should have used that last time. So give me an attack. So I guess I should have targeted him. You have an advantage because you're playing. Oh, no. Yeah, yeah, you are. Yeah, you're good. OK, and it's still here. Yeah, you guys are doing great. So give me some damage. Yeah. God, you sneak. Really tough. The opportunity attack. Yeah.
Yeah. Had your sneaky like damage. You have an ally in melee. Yeah. Oh, yes, yes, yes, yes. Yeah. And I get to roll a. Forty six. Holy shit. It's good stuff. Please kill him. Wouldn't that be great? OK, sure. That's yeah. I mean, there's a couple of ones. So nine plus Clifford's seven plus Masochi's eight. That is twenty four damage to the hill giant. Where are you, Hill giant one? Where are you? OK. That's not going to kill him, but that's not bad either. So would he keep going after Domino when you turn around and go? No, he's going to go after. All right. They're kind of a one track mine type of thing.
I don't even know if he would recognize like it would be like, oh, oh, oh, but he's. Yeah. Oh, he's also going to stand in the fire and take a. What a dummy. Call him a dummy to dumb dummy. So he does get advantage. Wow. This is just a cluster of giants now in the middle of the. This is not. Yeah, this is the opposite of the plan. They form a fun shape, though. This is a joke. People are a crooked penis. All right. Advantage versus Donovan. But twenty five will hit. Yeah. And 16, oh, miss. Wow. OK. All right. So the game is still a 19 damage, though. Which brings us back to Astor.
Oh, OK. So where you hid. Was this what you envisioned? So well, the first thing that happened is so when Maddie cast that fire. So so like, oh, man, because so there is a loud explosion noise and suddenly a lot of fire in the woods. And it's a meadow. It like like. Well, like like Astor, I guess like you can't see them, but they like from where they are, like hiding, like within the trees, like they are just like visibly like shaken and just kind of like staring at the fire, just like like a little bit pale even. So this is like if if we went out to dinner.
And I just started eating a live goat in front of Xavier and Valerie, just like chomping into them. Yeah. I think that'd be horrific for everyone. Yeah, but I mean, you know, like plus the stuff, plus the PTSD, it's just a lot. You know, so and then Maddie comes this way and then there are giants and then Maddie herself burst into flames. And you've seen that one before, though. Yeah, but it's just like Maddie burst into flames. It's not like sporting flair. It was like a shield spell. You don't see you can't see good no more. It's not the human torch. It's more.
Oh, boy. You're fine. You're doing great. You're hidden. You can just chill. Yeah. Do that bow attack. I don't feel if I attacked him, I come out of hiding. So I'm going to probably move first is the thing. Trying to figure out. Yeah. So Astor's just kind of like, like, generally, like during combat, like, like these things have gotten like rough before, but they're like pretty like in their element. Like they look like a bit panicked, actually, now, which is a bit unusual. And it's really not even like focused on the giants at all. But there are going to be like, yeah, OK, I'm in between two giants just and just one is what they're like instincts are screaming, but they're going to kind of move over here and then they're going to attack the one that looks like it's hurting the most.
Just that guy that. Yeah. Hill giant one. Just finish the job you started. Let's see. Twenty four. It is do I get sneak attack damage to you, don't I? Yes. And I have an ally standing. Oh, that's one. Then I get another attack. I have twenty three will also hit. That's another one. Can't all be winners. Thirteen more. OK, wow. So this giant is looking rough, like real rough, like all of a sudden. Oh, wait, hold on. Don't I have a fighter thing? Probably. Yeah. Action surge. That's the one. That's it. I haven't used this before. We're talking. My features list is long. Yes, I can take an additional action on top of other stuff.
I think I always take away some features to if that'll help. Good. So and does this action search this and Xavier your problem? Does this give me two attacks again or just one? You get your full attack action, which is to go twenty two. I'm going to have to warn you that you can only apply. Yeah, you get like damage once per turn. Oh, never mind. OK, well, that's OK, though. Ten damage to the hill giant. Money will hit. Yeah, it just took fifteen arrows and that hill giant is no more. Oh, so after just so they like like duck like away from these two two giants and run off.
And they reach back and just like arrow after arrow just seeks into this one that's standing in the flames. And then it goes out. Yeah, he's going to fall backward into this fire to. You know what? He's big enough. Let's let's do a thing. Master, do me a favor. Give me a flat D 20 on an 11 through 20. He's going to pad out a lot of this fire. Hey. Hey, there you go. OK, so we can get rid of that. I see the forest guys. Yes. Well, we're in a meadow. That's just called efficiency. We're in a meadow. We're on the edge of it. Only you can prevent forest fire. With giants.
With your whole body. Are you done? Yeah, I think that's my turn. Clifford's turn, baby. Can I glare at him as a non action? I can. Action. I mean, you could do you can, but like, you know, he's he's at a very willful age, I think he's going to try. You know what? Hold on a second. Misoka at this point, you go like, get over here. Come here. Give me each one. Me? Yeah. It's sabotage. It's 19 or higher. That's a three. And the hill giant comes over. He's gonna. Here's what he's gonna do. He is gonna be tactful, though. He's gonna be he's gonna use tactics, guys. He's going to run down here and get to the other side of this hill giant.
Number two. Two swings with two. The one that's still at full health. Yeah, but like he knows he's flanking it. He's using he's doing what Misoka did. He's flanking it. He's he's trying to be you guys. They expect too much. Let's not go from afar. Really? If you attack, then you hit. OK. No, that's not that's incorrect. That wasn't the right. You know. Yeah. Twenty three will hit and he's got one more. Yeah. Twenty two hit. Got a boy. Nine damage. Seven damage. Look at that. 16 damage. All right. Well, those knocks are no joke. Almost as much as one of their own. Some of us don't have the ability to fire a quiver of arrows into someone's neck until they stop moving.
I'm just going to be a machine gun when I grow up. Maddie, your thoughts? So many. First, Anven. I'm just scared to work. Honestly, he's laying low now. It's fine. Well, just just make sure everything is OK. I'm going to cast healing word at third level. I don't even know what I'm going to say. Get up. Stop it. But more inspiring, but third level add to the. Or two, whatever I roll, so I'm just going to roll that first six. OK, six here. Then for healing word. Fourteen help. That's all of your health in that like it's nearly. It's like eating spinach. And then I don't like being flaked.
I just want our wizard to be able to cast spells that would be helpful. Yeah. AOE spells. Come on. No, do you have haste, Anven? I was going to yell. Just run, Maddie. Well, that was a bonus action, right? Healing word. Yes. OK, so saying that is a way for you to not get attacked and leave. Crit. Oh, oh, oh, that's good stuff. You could also crit. You look like a coward. So should it automatically do crit damage? It should, but hold shift just in case it's up to you. Eleven damage. Clifford's going to look at you and give you a thumbs up. She's going to glare. In addition, you're going to hobble this hill giant in addition to standard critical hit damage your target's leg.
What are you using? A mace. A mace. So she swings it like a baseball bat into his knee. So you are going to cripple this giant's knee. I'd imagine a portion of the bone breaks off and its movement speed is reduced to one quarter. So, OK, she casts healing word, get up, Anven. And then she does like this turn with her mace and then she hears Donovan say run and then she like hits his knee and then looks over to Donovan and goes, no. I think you like the Mortal Kombat X-ray attack, like it's you zoom into this giant. Gruesome. Masuka. Hello. OK, well. I'm not trying to say anything, but Clifford's done more damage than you in this combat.
I'm just saying he's trying. She says stop. You got to call me a white devil. That's the only thing going according to my cake. I can't explain it does mean plan. OK, Masuka picks up Clifford and no. Yes, I'm not even going to do anything fancy here. My goal right now is to save the kid. So he's just going to do some standard attacking here. You get to Clifford. Yeah, to Clifford. Yeah, just just like, yeah, it's such a nuisance. Like, I take you with us. So that's sweet. Sixteen damage. OK, it's a giant to. Is Masuka flanking? I don't know if that is flanking. I don't think that one counts now, like Maddy would have to scooch in.
Oh, with Donovan. No, no, because Donovan would have to be on the he'd have to round the corner. What about with Hill giant three? Well, if you get those two to fight, you can get like a mean girl situation going on. Maybe that's 12, though. That's going to miss. OK, then he'll try to attack with his. Oh, he doesn't have it anymore. Oh, Clifford's going to give you a thumbs up. I only have one. Wait, do you seriously not have more than two daggers? I gave it to Clifford. You're fist. OK, but I don't have any other weapons. You're a rogue. OK, I have a short sword.
Yeah, yeah, that works. You can do that work. It's gleaming because it's brand new. Never used. Still in the packaging from Amazon. Oh, you forgot to sharpen it. Bubble wrapping still around it. Eleven. Eleven's going to be gone for the cheap knockoff. Clifford's going to Clifford's going to leave. You can do it. Come on. Oh, I hate you. Don't you patronize me. [laughter] OK, let's get killed. All right. Hill giant number three. Well, well, who's the last one to hit him? Was it Matty? Matty did show up. Yeah, Matty broke his damn knee. Oh, he's going to be furious.
Furious. He's going to swing twice at Matty. Do you want some? I have a reaction this turn. Yeah, you do. A whole new round. I got a reaction. And I can use that six times. OK, well then, disadvantage for this one. So he's going to swing. Oh, no, that's a two. So he's going to miss. Yay. Fifteen's going to miss. Oh, he's going to miss you twice. Yes. Oh, my goodness. Oh, that knee's really, that's really, it may have taken him out for the season. Like you hate to see an injury like that. Donovan. The Giants are really going to suffer this year. God, I hate you. Let the record show.
OK. So Donovan's just going to scream, scream, scream, pump himself up and also expresses, I don't know, him being upset at the situation. He's going to use a second wind. Gonna heal a d10 plus five. OK. Here we go. Seven. Seven, not bad. Could be worse. Yeah. And he's going to. Yeah, it's going to move. No, not that. And then stay down. Get out of there. Stay down. Should have acted. It should have waited. OK, he's going to use goading attack. Well, I mean, I was just going to attack the whole giant too. OK. That would be dumb. He's going to take Hill giant three. He's kept up.
That would be dumb. Yeah. So you're going to see it. You're going to see it. I can win Matty twice and miss. You have advantage on those. No, I don't. And that's fine. I mean, I would have to. Yes. I mean, he's I want to take Hill giant three first. Now, oh, all right. Just do it. Stand by it. No, we would not. Yeah, you would. OK. I thought it was corner to corner. You're fine. Look. Well, then you're on the opposite side of it. I mean, if you're going to give it to me, I'm going to take it. No, no, no. Chowder on that. Be like, oh, no, no, no. I want to be by Evan, though.
That's my condition. Oh, well, then you can't. Yeah, OK. Yes. Yeah. I'm trying to be I'm trying to get you and you're just I want to protect my my my boy. Right. It's like Clifford, right? You're being a real family and are like kindred spirits. Very willful. Hey, I take it to that. You're both vampires. But I do get a plus two because Maddie's is there. So let's do it. Yes. Let's do it. Nice. OK. Thank you. So you added eight. That's what six. Boom. Yeah. Thirteen damage to Hill Giant number three. Now I will attack again. But it was to go for the knees. It's a sweet. Can you make him roll a safe against the C 16?
Goating? Yeah. OK. Oh, seven. No. OK, cool. He's goaded. All right. I'm going to attack him again. Really got his goat. Twenty two will hit. It's going to be going again just for the extra damage. OK, so I'm going to be all out of goading's. Plus five. OK. Oh, sixteen. He's not dead. He's not quite dead. Action surge. Yeah. Just keep hammering this railroad spike. Yeah. OK. Oh, thirteen will hit. On a three. They're so big. So, so big. Twelve will kill the giant. I'm going to use my second attack on pill giant two with advantage. No, I'm going to use my attack action like the attack substituted for a shove action.
Going to try to trip him. I'm on top of Clifford. Why you would be on the spot like, come on, don't do either. Do you like that? Hold on. I just had one put out of fire. They're so big. Also. Shove. Yeah. Off for a two megaprof. Yeah, he might be too big, huh? I think I can only do it to large creatures. You're right. Yeah. OK. That makes the least sense. OK, I'll just attack you then. With advantage. I'm just imagining Clifford just getting pancaked. Yeah. Sixteen will hit. Nice. Seven damage to the hill giant. OK. All right. He's going to be. Hill giant number two. No. OK.
It's not hill giant two? I mean, hill giant number two. It's going to look at Donna. Oh. He's going to swing at Donna. Twenty two. Second swing. Yeah. I agree with that. Fourteen will miss. OK. Twenty five. Jesus. Ouch. Oh, Anven. Welcome to the fight. Hey, I get to do something. This is going to be awesome. You're going to love it. So I assume I'm still like laying down. Yes. So I will stand up and lose half my movement. OK. I'm going to look at Donovan and smirk and say. Oh, I'm going to do it. I'm going to look at Donovan and smirk and say. Get the giants close and get tell everyone to get out, and I'm going to call cast greater invisibility on myself.
Oh, it'd be great if he just left. Just went away. Ever just like that unconscious was the straw. He's like, I'm done. Go back to Winterhaven. OK, folks, are you moving? Yeah, totally. That makes sense. Oh, we'll go. Well, in my sniper range, actually, that's me from like anywhere. You could be in the next town. You could be in Dern Hollow and hit them. Right. Why does the invisible icon look like an Xbox controller? It does a little. Wow. Yeah, I have high perception. Sorry, I'm done. OK, so like way over here. Just that far away. You're only 20 feet away. Yeah, I can go like one more.
OK, there we go. I still have range. So wait, did that give you extra movement? Oh, no, I was right. 15, 15 feet. Yeah, look at you. You sneaky. Yeah, there we go. It's great. He still can't see me. Yeah, no, it's fine. All right. Hill giant number four is gonna look at Astor. And march on over here. And target Astor because you machine gun his friend to death. They were lovers. OK, they were. I don't know. There was a there was a there was a whole back story. Very sad that you'll never get to. Yeah, 23. That'll hit Astor. OK, and a second one. 15 will miss. So just the 19 damage.
OK, that's not bad. You really get hit anyway. You're fine. Yeah, I got someone I'm sure will look it up in the listeners, but I don't remember the last fight actually got it in. It's been a while. It wasn't this. That's for sure. Yeah. OK, I have to with the insects. Oh, yeah. I just thought of it. Cool. So the map kind of cuts off right there. It's just an issue. Would you like to leave the map? Not like so. OK, that like area of effect is still there. But you said it mostly put out the fire. Like, is it safe to go through? Yeah, yeah, yeah. You're not going to be on fire.
OK, cool. So I'm going to use my cutting action to disengage. And then I'm going to go. Thank you. Oh, and hanging out with them now. Yeah. And then what's the no, I'm there. I can feel your presence. I can see the blood dripping from your wounds. Oh, the air is bleeding in this. This is weird. What's the stuff on like range of advantage and everything again? I'm you have advantage. There's that. OK, if you're if you're aiming for a giant to it's surrounded by people. Yeah. Well, that's 25. Wow. Good. We dropped that four to take a 15. That'll hit. That's just five.
Oh, no, that's oh, I scrolled way too far. OK, that's five. Let's do 12 damage to the giant. Yeah. 22 will hit. Boom. Nine more damage. Nine more damage to the giant. Love it. OK, OK. Clifford's turn. Clifford. He's going to use spider climb. Oh my God. He's going to climb up this giant's back and try and punch it in the head twice with with fair enough with the with the knucks. Are we going off of arc one spider climb where spider legs shoot out of his back? No, no, no, no. It's just going to kind of skitter up the OK. I'm guessing sticky. Yeah, because I remember Malchus on the bridge arc one spider legs sprouted out.
OK, no. So he's going to climb up this giant. Here we go. Break the knuckles. Good 19 minutes. Total 20 will hit. Nine damage and nine damage, another 18 damage to this giant. Matty, your turn. So at this point, Clifford is right. Like I'd say right on the neck area, like balancing, just punching this giant in the head. So Matty's going to move here. OK, got so you have completely surrounded this board for this board defenseless didn't do anything. Oh, huh. Who's the real monster? How much does Donovan have? Look, he's defending himself. It's not the giant's fault.
Well, speaking of Donovan, there's a reason why she stepped over here. Matty is going to reach out and pat him on the shoulder and glowing is going to engulf Donovan for a moment as she cast cure with her. It's going to give me encouraging words. Good job. You got this. Kelsey's really proud of you. OK, but second level. So I'm going to add a D8. I'll do that first. That's an extra five. Oh, 54. No. Wow. What a good cleric. Oh, I'm level 30. Did I tell you guys? Mute Jason discussed this. I'm a god. Just wanted to. It's what I get for working on the book. 13. 13 hit points.
Return to Donovan. And that's an action. So, OK, anything else? OK, now you got advantage. Sir. Hi. Hi. My apologies. OK. Masoka will look up to Clifford. Thumbs up. Yeah, just be ready to jump. OK, this thing falls. I feel like I'm not going to hit unless I try something crazy. Oh, God. Look, OK. It's been a weird night, James. It's true. It's true. You two are going on time out. Yeah. Look, it's not a race. It's not a race. Yeah, he doesn't want to put Clifford at any more risk. So I will just attack with my one dagger. With advantage. Yeah, with advantage. Clifford will probably shout down.
It's like, I got him. I got him for you. Oh, holy shit. We're going to drop a one to take a four. That's a 12. That's going to miss. Well, at least he did a crit fail. That's true. OK, well, let's try that short start again. Oh, my God. With advantage as well. Yeah. Oh, my God. Drop it two to take a four. That's 12. That'll miss again. You see what I'm saying, though? You've done a lot of damage this fight. That's so strange. What have you done with Mysore? You were really affected by the death of Ubo. Yeah, you always had something to prove to Ubo. Now he's not here.
Oh, you're right. That's what it is. Oh, jeez. So Clifford. He's a dad now. Now, yeah, the confidence is waning. He's starting to doubt himself. Clifford's going to shout down, what's wrong? What? Like he's-- Dad. Clifford's confused. He's going to look up at Clifford like a puppy dog. Like, are you? Show your mojo, man. It's OK. Donovan. [growling] Are you OK? I'm hurting. I got a potion on me, but I'm hurting. Yeah. Them giants, man. Yeah, them giants. Oh, he's going to go down. He's going to go down. OK. Going to go down, down, down. You got it, Vanish, thanks to Clifford.
This is so stupid. [laughter] All right. He raises his war pig, and he's kind of lightheaded from typical Donovan blood loss. And he's going to get-- like as his weapons comes down on the giant, he's going to have some flashes, like some images, like go real like super fast in his mind, and he's going to see like Ubo's burial mount, and then Ubo at the sunset, and then like Anvin and Masoka coming back from the dead, and Kirkland taking over his body, and hopefully a hit. Hopefully. Advantage. 17 will hit. And the last image he sees is a beautiful male elf embarking on a ship, and his forearm and war pig are going to start to glow.
And he's going to use divine smite. Yeah. Because, I mean, that's enough. Really cute. How much damage does that do? I was going to check it out. That's my-- 2d8. Oh my god, it's so strong. I haven't been using that for six months. Smite's good. It just says enough. That's how much damage it does. So I'll add 14. Oh, an extra 14 damage. But that's the extra that I will add. So scroll up to 14. And then I'll just do my damage, which is over here. 24 damage to the hill giant. Holy shit. And he's going to use his second attack. Oh no. With advantage. 25 will hit. Let's just say this one is just a normal attack.
Well, let's-- no, no way. It's also divine. Burning both. I still got one more left. Can I burn both in one round? I don't know. It's two different attacks, so I probably can. I'll just show it with you. I'll allow it. I'll just get used to these new feelings. Yeah, when you hit with the melee, it's just like a superiority fighter stuff. Yeah. Easy peasy. It's going to be plus 13. Jesus. This might be it. I don't know. You fought bravely. Now you die. That'll kill the giant. That'll just kill it. Oh, wow. Good stuff. Anvin, you're invisible. Well, that one's all by its lonesome.
You want to contribute all that AOE damage that affects all two of you? Yeah, that's-- Well, I was going to do something cool. You know what? I'll do it anyway. Sorry, man. I didn't listen to your plan. No one listened to any plan in this. Yeah, I guess. Today we learned. We need to work on teamwork. How do I make a 20-foot range sphere? Let's just say he's in it. Yeah, it's really complicated once you get it on. All right. Just target him. Target him. Oh, you're targeting yourself too, careful. Oh, do not do that. Don't kill yourself. He just explodes. [LAUGHTER] I just healed you.
It's a really powerful attack, but I can only do it once. And then suddenly just amp in bits and explode out from nowhere. Die doing the thing you love and explode it. [LAUGHTER] OK. First, he needs to make a strength DC 14 save, which I assume he's going to do. I mean, we don't know. Who knows? Let's go. Jesus. OK, look. What happens is he's got all of a sudden the wind around him. He didn't make it. That's amazing. [LAUGHTER] The wind around him just becomes like a storm. 20 feet around him, there's like rocks and everything floating all around, little lightning streaks.
And a big ass rock hits him in the face. Oh, wow. [LAUGHTER] Nine damage to the giant. Oh, what a dick move. Right. And then now we're going to do the 46 lightning with normal. Of course, I got 2/1. That's how I roll. 1/2 and 2/3. I can make a ranged spell attack. And I have an advantage on the attack roll. Stop using spells with DC 16. Like all of the spells. And a huge beam of lightning is going to hit him. So now, this is what we can take away. Hill giant four's turn. He's going to-- you know what? Fuck you. He is going to-- He doesn't see me. Wait, what? I have greater invisibility.
Oh, it doesn't break? No, not for greater. Yeah, it's greater. This is why I took greater. He's going to assume this is coming from Astar then. God damn it. Stompy stomp stomp. I got to use everything to keep me alive. Ooh, Donovan gets opportunity. He didn't exit my range, so he wouldn't. Targeting Astar. He's going to assume. 16 will hit. 20 will hit. 21 damage. 15 damage will knock Astar out. Out of curiosity, how much movement does he have? Because that whole area is difficult to rain for 20 feet. Oh, god damn it. That would have been-- OK, wait. OK, hold on.
Because he's in a sphere of floating-- a storm sphere. So he's got 40 feet of movement, so he could still get there. Yeah. Yeah, he could still get there. So we don't have to go back. Nice try. It's good, though. Astar, give me a death saving throw. This is the first time you've ever had to do this. I've never had to do this before. God, where even is that? Oh, there it is. Wow. I found it. Oh, I rolled two. That wasn't meant to happen. Well, we're going to take that first one. OK, yeah, that's fine. OK, so that's one failure. That's a three. Clifford's turn. Favorite part.
He is going. You know what? He's going to flee. He's going-- I'm done. No. Time to retreat. Guys, since you're mountable. Follow my lead. He's going to get-- well, that's not going to do any good. He's going to come up here next to Donovan. Donovan looks like he's in trouble. He wants to help. He's going to target this hill giant. Sha. 16 will hit. 16 will hit. At least he delivers. I don't think I'm going to be bad at him. I mean, he's done. Let's see how much damage. Hold on. 11, 9. That's 20 damage. I mean, he's-- what's he at? Like 50, 60? Yeah. The kid's doing pretty good.
Mattie. More than Masoka. Look, low DPS happens to all men at some point in their life. It's not-- Thank you. This is a first for Mattie. She's probably freaked out that Aster's fallen. Things are supposed to hit Pastor. Things have gotten dire. It's an empty pot. [LAUGHTER] No way. I ran out of spell slots, so you're going to get a lucky fourth level spell slot. Ooh, thank you. So you get-- ooh, 3D8 extras. Wow. 16. OK, so you need to cure wounds, so she leans down while looking at the giant. It pats Pastor, healing 4. 26 health. Thank you. And then just as you're engulfed in that white shimmer, she's also going to do a bonus action of Shield of Faith, which gives you plus 2 AC.
Aww. Love it. So let me do that. OK, so movement, action, bonus, done. OK, Misoka. Here we go. It's the redemption. Here we go. OK. Clifford's going to turn to Misoka. This one's wounded. It's easy. Come on. [LAUGHTER] He's going to aim Bo at Clifford. [LAUGHTER] Hey, I can take care of this real quick. I got turn on dead, but it kills things under one. I'm trying to get a feeling he's kind of over that. OK, he is going to pull the bow out, but-- But over some Sag Charlie. Yeah. Whatever. He's bothered right now. I don't know if I should have disadvantage just because of that. [LAUGHTER] But OK, he's going to aim at giant 4.
This is how Misoka got his groove back. So he's going to pull back. I think you have advantage because we're within range of him. Plus 2. Oh, plus 2. OK. Cool. But you will get your sneak. He's going to-- Oh, that's what I was thinking of. But yeah, I have some movement left, I guess. Because I'd have to move back right up to him, right? For my sneak attack. You could use it on-- No, that's right. You can use your bow. You can use my bow for my sneak attack? Yeah, that's what I've been doing this whole time. Yeah. Oh. And it usually works great. It just doesn't. In my mind, it's like sneak attack.
OK, yeah, no, that's good. So he'll pull back on his bow string. He'll close his eyes. In his head, he's saying, it's a fine bow. It's a fine bow. And he'll open his eyes. He'll exhale. And miss terrible-- No! 17! [LAUGHTER] Excellent. OK, OK, this is good. This is good. 7 damage. What's your sneak attack? He's going to sneak attack and do that again. I mean, you just get to add to damage automatically. Yeah. Because you hit. Sneak attack is just a value you add to an attack. Oh, yeah. In some circumstances. Yeah. You don't get to attack twice. Yeah, yeah, yeah. OK, so that's just my 46.
Yeah. Because it's like, imagine someone's distracted, and they're going to have a guard up on your side. So it's like, eh. Like, you're just really-- 13 extra damage. That's 20 damage. Very nice. Somewhat of a redemption. Don't take it away from yourself. You're doing great. OK. Donnie. He's seriously considering becoming an archer. We'll just say that. He stops following Mattie and like, hands up. Back off my turf. Yeah. All right. So Donnie's going to-- Donnie's going to wave his arm to get the attention of this giant away from Cliff, and also to get in good position, circle around him, to get in a flanking with Mattie.
Yay. And he's kind of exhausted from the last two attacks, and he's going to attempt to do that thing again, where there was some light and stuff. Do that thing you do. Just FYI, your movement is half speed at the moment now. OK, cool. Good. 21 hit. You're not moving. How many of those fighting attacks do you get? I got three spell slots. Ah, gotcha. I'm going to do some role play. Look at that. And he's going to think that it's going to happen again, but it doesn't. Whoa. Ah, he's like, come on. And he's kind of like going to tap on his forearm, like going to move the batteries.
Come on. And he's going to swing again. And he's going to focus, close his eyes, and think about, like try to ground himself and think about Masoka again, and like the rest of his friends, and how much you want to protect them. And attack. There's a huge storm around you, and for some reason, all the rocks like mold away from you. But 19 will hit. And this time, the light will come back on his arm and on his warp pick. It's going to add three damage. [LAUGHTER] Of the radiant quality. Shouldn't have thought about Masoka. [LAUGHTER] Oh my god. [LAUGHTER] I'm thinking about Masoka.
Yeah. Yeah, what a bad idea. [LAUGHTER] OK. Masoka is not your muse when it comes to damage. We've known that. Think of Clifford. I'll think of Clifford. [LAUGHTER] I don't have bonus actions I can do. No, I'm done. [LAUGHTER] So that's-- OK, so 11 damage for the resident, three bonus. So nine total. OK, you know, it's fine. It's good. It's fine. I'm out of batteries. Like, I'm out of juice. This is the last reserves. Anven. All right, so there's this huge storm going around. Donnie notices that the rocks are actually going around him and not-- and like, almost like they're going out of his way on purpose, which they are, which is kind of a cute my evocation skill.
And then for my bonus action, the rocks are going to hit him, and the big huge lightning beam is going to go after him again. 26. When this appears and disappears, there's a save. In between all that, there's no saves anymore. Right. It's just you being able to take a bonus action and go, phh-ah, and just palpatine. Right. Yeah. It's got an attack button, and in it, it says attack and save. Gotcha. So it's really annoying. OK, so I'll just ignore the save. That makes sense. Yeah. That's poorly correct. All right. That we'll never forget. Yeah. Yes. Because that time it was the exact opposite result.
It's like, and he takes two. Yeah. It's like, wait a second. Yeah, yeah. The save doesn't work. Right. Because we did it ahead of time was the only reason I was saying it. Yeah. No. OK. So now I'm going to do my attack action. Fair enough. And I looked it up to make sure that this wasn't the two spells rule, because it's a bonus action on the spell. So feel free to override me. Oh, yeah. So that would-- you're not technically casting a spell. Right. It's just a bonus action post your spell. Yeah, I think you should be fine. I think you should be fine. Is this concentration?
Nope. Not concentration at all. OK. OK, you're good then. Go ahead. All right. So with that, I'm just going to go back. We'll go back to a good D, and I'll take my diamond, spin it, and attack with Chromatic Orb and mute. And you're still invisible. Oh, yeah. OK. So what you're doing is you're hurling spitballs from the back of the class, and someone else is taking the heat for it. Yeah. Yeah, and they've got three times the health, so that's OK. You know what? I think that's the flip side of haha, Anvin has submitted a few hit points. Like, I think this is fair. 19 will hit.
And 14 damage to the hill giants. And I believe that's-- Yep, that's it. And this time there's a lightning bolt that seems to come from nowhere behind Mattie and Astor that then shoots and hurls towards the giant. It's right next to Mattie too, so it's like she feels the crackling energy right next to her. She's like, what the-- It's going to make your hair frizzy. Yeah. Oh my God, she already has-- And it almost looks like it molds around. Yeah. Well, hill giant's going to swing at Astor with a plus two because Astor's still down, right? That lightning looked like it came from Mattie.
Well, he's dumb. Jason just really wants to hit. I cannot! Sorry, yeah, I'm sorry. If Astor's down, if they're down, well, it's advantage, not plus two. Oh, I'm sorry. I'm sorry to say. I'm so sorry, you're right. 26 will hit. No way. 15 damage to Astor. There you go. He's going to swing again. It's not even nothing. So in his dumb brain, this is like tiny elf make magic and just smashing. Astor's like the only one in the party that does that. Does that actually? 25 will hit. God, now I'm freaking out again. 18 damage. I don't even get to hit this guy. Could you give me another death saving throw?
Astor, I'm so sorry. I love you, Kelsey. That's a failure. Oh my God. Clifford's turn. This is a stupid fight. Do you know that? Yeah. Yes. From second one. Oh, for some numbing plants. Okay. Hold on. Wait a second. This is a cancer medication. Hold on a second. They're fine. The plants are worth it. No one's dead. Clifford's going to swing twice. He gets a plus two because you guys are standing here. 12's going to miss. Oh no. 25 will hit. Okay. Where are we with fucking, yeah. Okay. A two po damage. That will kill the giant. Oh my God. Passing of the torch. Of course it will.
Now you're the God of War. Okay. We are never going to be able to stop him from fighting stuff. No, he's a danger to society now. He killed, like he got the finishing blow of this huge giant. Like, Oh my God. We're doing it. As the giant tumbles backward, he is just going to light up. I think that's a good time for us to stop for the evening. Oh God. Wait. What happened? I just woke up guys. What did I miss? I can't believe we survived. Oh my God. That was amazing. Four hill giants. Four. We did really good. That was amazing. Hey, good news is we leveled up three levels.
Yes. And we got a bunch of gold from all those plants. That's great guys. We can harvest stuff from the hill giants, I'm sure. Yeah. That is a lot of XP. Not to meta game. I don't like to talk about XP. It's so gauche. But. If anything, we've earned our own group name now. We're like, we're in the other side of this. We killed giants. Yeah. In a disorganized way. Yeah. Nobody knows. There's no witnesses. Yes. There's just four giant bodies. That's what I'm about to say. It's just corpses. Yeah. Listen, well, if we could haul the big bear guy, like four hill giants equals one bear, according to the map.
God damn it. I'm glad I hit you. So we're about to see. And it pops into existence. We're about to see what a dangerous amount of confidence does to a preteen. I can't wait to get in town. I cannot wait. Oh my God. Can't wait to yell at Clifford. I'm going to strangle him. You can't argue with results though. You're still going to strangle him. That's fair. He doesn't breathe. It's fine. Well, I'm glad I'm glad our morning period, like our grieving period is over. Like we, I think we're all, I think we're all over Ubo now. We got distracted. The important thing sometimes is just to get back on that horse, you know?
Yeah. It's what Ubo would have wanted. He just left killing giants. He would have disapproved all the way. He would have shook his head the whole time. No, he loves a good fight. I think he would have been looking at Clifford going, "Ha ha ha, yes!" Oh man, Clifford would have loved that. Yeah, Ubo would have, yeah, I think so. Because he likes a fight with honor and this is one. Like, you know, we've vested four hill giants. Yeah, I wasn't, yeah. I don't know if he would have been disappointed in my vanishing trick. But I think he would understand. Okay, you can't argue with results.
You're fine. And you didn't get hit. Not again. What would my attack bonus be to like throw a rock at somebody? Just out of curiosity? Yeah. What, okay. What I was trying to do, I was taking dumber and dumber chances with Clifford. Because I think that's what he's picked up from Ahsoka so far. And I was waiting for him to fail so that there'd be an in. So he'd be like, "Yeah, I guess you can't be so reckless." That didn't happen! The opposite happened. He kept charting upwards. So now he's just like, "Yeah, you're right. You know what? The bigger the risk, the bigger the payoff." He stole Ahsoka's mojo.
He did! The real vampire. Well. Well, I guess we'll deal with that the next time we sit down. Guess so. I gotta remember how I feel right now. Yeah, same. Don't be happy. Aster is in a place. It's gonna be fun. (chuckles)
