And after gathering supplies, it's time for them to hit the open ocean once again and move ever closer toward Kodai. The choices they make today will influence how the rest of their mission goes and set themselves up for success or failure. And that's where we pick up things today. Let's do that thing where we go around the table and introduce ourselves.

I'm Jason, I'm the Dungeon Master going around the table starting with Jasper. Hello, this is Jasper. I play Merrick, Ethelred, Human, Cleric and newly minted Warlock. And Ryan. Hey everyone, I'm Ryan and I play Varys Alder, the half-elf monk. And Mandy. Hi guys, this is Mandy and I play Iris Hawker, the human cleric. And Zac. What's up, my name is Zac and I play Aveline, the human fighter. And Brie. Hi, oh I hit the... Hi, I'm Brianna Marie and I play Clara Rovdale, the half-drow fighter. Perfect amount of alcohol. And Lisa. Hey, I'm Lisa and I play LRF Beastinger, the halfling barbarian.

So, let's pick things up on the 16th of Alta Orn. Is there anything else you guys would like to do in Westport before we take off and set sail for Kodai? Not on Varys' end. I mean, on his end he went and he got shopping. He went shopping, he got his stuff, and he made his way back to the group at this point. So he's just hanging out with him, looking at everybody. You guys got tons of water, tons of food, you're pretty well prepared for some time at sea. And obviously you don't know how long you're going to be on Kodai. There are several options in terms of where you'd like to drop anchor and make for a beachhead.

But we'll get to that in just a little bit. We still have to get to the continent. You got some sailing to do. Well, one thing that I definitely want Merrick to be able to have time to do is while on another continent of all places, he's going to take a few minutes to look for some spices, some ingredients, just some stuff that he can stash away for not only the trip, but just so he can practice and get it to be part of his arsenal. So wherever he can find a general store or maybe a spices and incense type store or something like that, he would want to grab a few things.

Yeah, there's a- Talor is a continent that definitely enjoys their spicy food and they have a real zest for food that kind of fights you on the way down. So you will definitely- I'd say that's more on the lionfolk side than the gitsureye. The gitsureye are a little more mild mannered. I was going to say I feel like haha mild. I feel like the gitsureye probably have baby mouths. Yeah, they're not really into the spice. But they do like to brag about their palates, so they like layered flavors. So they love things that as you chew them, it's like a gobstopper.

It's like, "Oh, now I'm picking up an earthy tone." Like it's their pretentious douchebags. Oh man, what's the gitsureye word for mouthfeel? They really judge things by tongue squish. It's worse. So they're not into the spice, but predominantly on the continent that's what you're going to find. So if you grab a bunch of different seasonings and spices and stuff like that, it's going to give your cooking quite a kick. Excellent. He's stocking up. The idea is to be able to take this and in his wildest dreams it would be to get back to Elara and introduce that in some way.

Or whatever. Or make his way back at some point with a little tiny stash of something for the pounce and claw. He's just thinking of the future. It may not ever come to pass, but it's kind of like maybe more wishful thinking than anything else. He's just imagining that all of the crap that's been going on for the past couple of days or few days is behind him or he's just not thinking about it. What can he focus on? Something as simple as bringing spices back to a kitchen. The other part of that is you're here, right? Why not? Well yeah, definitely. I think at this point he's got a much nicer and bigger and well-staffed galley than he did a couple of days ago.

If he's started the ball rolling towards the end of the world in some way or at least being part of that in some weird demonic contractual way, he's not going to let that opportunity slide. He's going to be like, "Wait a minute. I got a crew." He's going to chef it up. Is Merrick the type of dude who would like dishes from every continent at his restaurant and make it overly complicated and stuff? I think where I was headed was actually something like that. As he goes around the world, and this is only since he's had the pouncer and claw, he's thinking about picking up something here and there.

Even, it hasn't been mentioned necessarily outright, but even in a call or something like that, just sort of picking up the flavor so that if he had a dish that's sort of like, I don't know, something that has the... The way I think about it is when you go to another country and it has American hamburgers. It's like the American way of doing it. It's kind of like, "Oh, yeah, cool. They're hamburgers." It's not really anything. It just kind of touches upon what a hamburger really is. It's like that. Gotcha. Okay. All right. Anybody else want to do anything while you're in Westport?

Now, keep in mind, this is your last chance for gas, basically. Once you get back on the ship and you guys set sail, that's it. You're going to be at sea for potentially weeks. This is going to be a long time. Salt. Bags and bags of salt. I think there would be enough of that. Just making sure. Yeah, because if you scoop up the water and then boil it, the salt separates and then you got a bunch of drinkable water. If you just spill it... No, no, you just got to boil it, Lisa. Do I have to teach you about water? Because... Okay. Every time. I know. I literally pulled up my sleeves and was like, "All right." Lisa, I saw this on a cartoon once, so I'm pretty sure it knows more than you do.

Okay. Oh, oh. Okay. God's fired. I don't know why I couldn't form a thought at that point. Because you're so goddamn angry. Like, it just shut your brain to... Lisa, do you want to tell us a water fact now? Yeah. Give us a Snapple fact for water. A Snapple fact? But like, real, because most Snapple facts are made up. Oh, I didn't know... Yeah, I think it was like 70% of them aren't true. I think that's inflated. I think that's very inflated, but that's just me. No. Tell us about desalinization. Oh, no. It's possible with a membrane filter, but it's very energy consuming and not...

I mean, you could do it, but it's not feasible on a long-term scale. This is just for a very different podcast, by the way. Which would be very... I would definitely subscribe to you, but it's very different. Oh, man. I want Lisa to just tell me about water until I fall asleep. I agree with that. Then I won't pee my pants, but it will be worth it. Okay. So, one last thing and then we'll be done. So, like, so, Osmosis is like the transfer of water through a semi-permeable membrane, right? Of course. I thought it was a cartoon character that lived inside of that famous actor.

Yes. Bill Murray. You're thinking of Bill Murray. So, like, but that's how it goes in, like, your cells or whatever, right? You have a semi-permeable, like, or, you know, in different structures. The first time I heard of, like, reverse Osmosis for, like, purifying water was, like, the same thing, but it was on a huge scale. And I remember one year I was drunk in Indianapolis and I went to a brewery and they had it on a micro scale and I lost my shit. And I was just asking, like, the brewer, I was like, "Oh my God, tell me about your filtrations." And my uncle was like, "I'm so sorry, she's really into water." [Laughter] "Are you thirsty?" "No, I just really am into water." And he was like, "Hey, look, there's beer over there." And I was like, "Okay!" [Laughter] That's amazing.

You're adorable. Well, that was tonight's episode, guys. I think we covered everything we needed. There's the recap. That's all you missed. That was it. So. She missed on Glee. [Laughter] Real quick, Jason, what, like, what time of day is it right now? Well, I'd say by the time you guys get packed up and everything, it'd probably be early, like, real early afternoon. Okay. Like around one, somewhere in there. So would this be something that, and I guess at this point it's more for the group, is this something that we want to try to set out now? Like, as fast as possible?

Or do we want to relax this evening and go at, like, the first crack of sunlight? Hmm. Yeah. Cap? Oh, yeah. Sorry. I kind of figured we'd... Sorry. I kind of figured we'd let people have, like, at least an evening. I can't remember. But now I'm like, "Well, we are on a timetable." The trough. I mean, Merrick is, if nothing else, is in the background. He's not saying anything or pushing anything, but he's definitely checking to make sure that everything is getting taken care of for the ship. Because he wants to make sure that if there's any sort of royals encroaching upon this timeline in any way.

Oh, yeah. Because, you know, this is sort of Merrick's thinking, not outside for the group, but he doesn't know what has transpired outside of the ship after sort of backing time up a little bit. Right. So he's got questions in his mind around, you know, is there even... are the royals even around? Is that even a thing anymore? Like, I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. But he's looking over his shoulder a lot. I don't want to forget this too much, but it's only been a day or so since everything changed. And he's got this huge weight that he's got. It's almost like a dream happened.

But it's probably very, very odd for him. And he's kind of skeptical about absolutely everything. Kind of just getting used to reality and making sure that it feels right or not. Oh, wait. Yeah. Continue with that, though. I'm not sure about the timing, but he would definitely be eager to get the ship ready. Yeah, I think the only consider... well, the other consideration would, besides letting everybody get off and stretch their legs, would be, I think, Elorath would double check with Varus that we'd be able to even navigate around the shallows in the dark.

Jason? I mean, I'm assuming best case scenario is go as soon as daylight hits in the morning, you get kind of more opportunity, especially starting to get around some of these islands. Well, OK, let's talk meta for just a moment. Ships have a speed given to them in their stat block. Now, that speed is based off of a 24 hour sailing period, which means you never stop, which is great if you have, say, a really big cruise so that you can have people on and off. But you got to imagine you guys don't have lights. I mean, you have lanterns, but you're not casting light out into the sea that you're going to be able to see.

So I like to think of things pretty much like when you're on the road, it's a 12 hour sailing period. So you got from sun up to sundown and maybe a little bit beyond if you're feeling daring or if you know it's just open water. But your picture, if you're just sailing, let's say even even slowly, you won't be able to see obstacles. You won't be able to see other ships potentially unless they have lanterns lit. You're not going to be able to see, you know, monsters in the water. There's a lot of stuff that you're just not going to be able to see. Not unless there was like a full like a full moon and a clear sky.

Exactly. And in that case, why not? You know, just go. Yeah. But yeah, it's it's it's a dangerous it's something that just cries out to me. It's like that seems really dangerous to save, you know. And I assume the crew would know that. Oh, God, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. OK. I mean, that was one of the things that looking at the map is, you know, we have kind of those first little bit of islands. I don't know how long it would take to get around that. But then afterwards, it's kind of open waters for a bit. So I didn't know as far as timing sake how that would pan out.

I'm assuming it would take more than probably a day or even like 12 hours or so before we can get all the way around that series of islands. The barrier islands? Yeah. OK. Well, if that being the case, then I think, yeah, LRF would probably be like, well, let's let's get going. Let's get going. If we're trying, you know, if we're trying to make time and get there as quickly as we can, as long as, you know, I think she would double check with. Oh, gosh, Yali. Yep. Yeah. Yali. And make sure that the crew, you know, could handle it and all that. You know how hard it is not to slip into the foghorn leghorns voice when I'm doing it?

So don't forget, you guys also have a travel die. Oh, yeah. Oh, shit, guys, we got to use the travel die or else a bunch of demons are going to take us the fuck out. Seriously? I mean, well, yeah, strategic use of it for sure. But we could, you know, save it. Maybe we have luck on the water and we can save a travel diaper when we're like actually on land and things get a little bit more like personally treacherous. That's how you become a bird that gets hit by a bat. Tied up. That's the thinking that leads to that. So I guess here's here's the thing that we can use the travel die on the start of kind of getting back on the ship, getting back on the back on the water.

We could use it near the kind of the last half of the journey because it is going to take a while. We can also use it when we first hit land to get to our spot. Safer, hopefully. Like that chuckle. Sorry, I'm going to be meta for just a second. Did we use it the last time or no? Or did we just do like rolls? I feel like we just did a series of last time we did a series of wrong. But we've rolled really, really well. Yeah. We don't know if that'll happen again. OK, but it might. It's OK. OK, do we just have the one travel die? Yes. So far. How do we earn more? Is that like a it's like a role?

Inspiration. OK. Yeah. When you guys work as a team, I give you guys travel die. Oh, I didn't know. Sorry, I put something on the map. How do I do you earn any like over time? Just passively? Yeah. I mean, if it's been a long time, but I mean, usually you guys work as a team in some capacity without here. Let's go to like a local town and like work together in the blacksmith shop like we'll just level up our smithing. We'll work together and getting drunk and we'll pass out. And that's yeah, we'll go from there. I mean, technically that's a team activity if you wanted to make it.

Yeah, it's I mean, we could do a trust fall at the end. And there we go. Good. OK, so you guys are set in sail now. You've discussed whether you're going north or south to sail around Talor and get to Kodai. I believe north was the OK. So north is the longer route, but it's safer overall. The southern route gets you monsters and pirates and all kinds of stuff. So you guys are setting sail. You are leaving Westport. You are traveling north and you're you're going to be making slow time because you're sailing around some some islands. So there's a fairly large chain of islands just north of Westport.

So you're going to be taking it fairly slowly around that and then just sort of break into a sprint until you get to the northern portion of Talor and sail around it. Now, you said you didn't want to use a travel die yet, right? Captain, I think this is yours. Oh, why? Captain. Oh, captain, my captain. I will quartermaster and captain. Oh, quartermaster, my quartermaster. Oh, quartermaster captain. Oh, quartermaster. Varus looks to Elorath. Oh, God. Varus cops out. Varus puts his finger on his nose. You just you just told me to look at the map. OK. Oh, my God. She's a quarter captain because she's.

Yes, she is. That is racist. I say do it. The travel die. Yeah, let's do it. Yeah. OK. I was like for the smoothest and most efficient way, hopefully of getting there. All right. Give me a D4, please. Let's roll your travel die. I'm probably only going to get a little negative thinking to. All right. So second. Yeah, it's not second worst stereo. That's that's 200 percent more than you thought. Oh, yeah. It is third best. I couldn't count this was like it's second. No, it's not. Did you guys say that you were sleeping in Westport, like get in a room and like hunkering down?

Yeah, I think the plan was to settle down that night, maybe go get something to eat, get some breast and then set out in the morning. Did you say get some breast? OK, that's what I heard. But I was like, all right. So Zalu and Clara are going to the bedroom. Why not? I mean, that's not what I. OK, maybe that's my deviant brain, but I could have sworn you said, you know, get some breast. You know, I don't know. That's what I have on my brain. I say no. I mean, everybody out there listening, get some breast. Yes. Let me know what you heard. Yes. Consensual breast.

Yeah. Consensual breast. Yeah. Get your own breast if you'd like. Yeah. Look down. There they are. Thank them for their service. Oh, hello. OK. It feels good. OK. All right. So two days. We got two days of the travel die. That's amazing. It is the 19th of all to orange. And I'm going to move things around here so that we can accurately portray where you guys are. So you are you are in the northern portion of Talor. I'd say you're three quarters of the way done with getting around this continent. Again, it's slow going because this is, you know, you don't want to accidentally run aground or do damage to the ship.

Now, we're going to have to start asking for four rolls now. So for every two days you guys are at sea. I'm going to ask you guys to roll a flat D20 and things are going to happen. Now, the cool thing is you're not in the open waters. So it's not like there's going to be a bunch of pirates or, you know, the room, a ho or anything like that. So there is kind of a cap on how bad things can get. But don't tempt fate. OK, Ryan. Oh, no. Get some breast. Do me a favor. Why would you start with Ryan? That's so fucking mean. Why is that mean? Because you literally just mentioned the Romejo.

I have the Romejo. No, no, no, no, no. Hold on. That didn't happen, guys. What are you talking about? Yeah, I'm going to put some spin on that dice and we'll all sit in the anticipation. OK, baby, 10. OK, so that is that is missionary position. Run of the mill. Just 10. It is fine. Yep. So you're going to get some mild showers off and on for the next couple of days as you guys round round to lower. And we are going to advance you right about there. You're actually going to see lion folk war parties. You're going to see a bunch of things on on the shores like you're going to see people like huge troops of lion folk.

You know, hundreds of them in bands like in small encampments. It looks like they might be getting ready for some sort of raiding party at some point. And that's not an uncommon sight. They're constantly fighting. But more important on the 21st, you're going to see a ship behind you. What? Who sees it? Who sees this? Is it just like crew or is it us? I'd say Augie, probably. Augie has the best chance of seeing it. But you know what? Everybody do me a favor. Give me a perception check. And the one with the highest sees it first. Oh, I wonder who it could possibly be.

Hey, Lord. Wow. It's going to be tough to beat various shit like you behind a tiny bit. One moment. Perception. Oh, it's a zero. I could just roll the D 20. So I think it's a guy. A car is otherwise to do it. Other years studying cars, drunk. I was just going to say, how dare you? Somebody else's breasts. Oh, yeah, that. So various by a fucking country mile. Yeah. Oh, boy. So this is obviously the royal ship and what it looks like is they skipped Westport entirely. Like they're outfitted enough that they could just keep going. OK, well. All right, so he's probably up there in the crow's nest talking to Augie, and then he probably sees it out of the corner of his eye and then both of them notice and various will as safely and quickly as possible.

Climb down to the bottom and go straight over to the rest desk or office. Not I don't care if it's closed. I don't care if you're having another meeting. He barges in. OK. Right. She wasn't doing anything. She was doing. He opens with the door and kind of in that position to where he hasn't gone through the door for door, the door frame, the door frame. And he's like halfway leaning on it and opening up the door at the same time. The rules are behind us there within sight, at least they must have just skipped the last town. Fuck. How how how close are they behind us?

Jason, I'd say they're about as far away from you as possible and still be on the horizon invisible. They're probably a good like, OK, if you're doing math, let's say you're like, OK, well, we started a full day before them and we've had a pretty good we've had a pretty good go of things so far. They probably got all the same weather that you got. And their ship is obviously I mean, it's more outfitted than yours. It's probably faster than yours. It's a really good ship. So they're probably moving at about one and a quarter times your speed. So they might be almost a day behind you.

OK, OK. So he'll he'll kind of pull his head like out of your office real quick and like almost like look to the side a little and put his head back in about a full 24 hours. OK. Sorry, she's trying to think and she'll kind of do what I just did, which is kind of like leaned on one elbow and kind of like put her hand on her face just thinking like, OK, well, let's get everybody in here because I don't know what to do about them other than to like try and fight them when they get here. But if we're trying to go to the same place, you know, I want other opinions.

All right. Got it. And he'll give a quick little mock salute. And he sprints off and goes and gets everybody in character that was in character. So it's just this is that. Wow. Let me try that again. Have we all been drinking? Yes. You have. You literally have. You guys are making it sound like I'm the only one who's drinking. I'm not the only one who's drunk. I'm not drunk. All right. OK. OK. All right. XW. I can do it. That's what drunk people say. Yeah. You'll tell me when you've had enough, right? When you say the crew, do you mean the party or do you want some crew members there, too?

I think the party plus Yarlie and Zalu. Makes sense. OK. Maybe Augie, but I don't want to pull him from the crow's nest, you know, so I'm like, OK. That's what Varus took it as is like the party and then the leadership of the crew. Yeah. That makes sense. OK. So a few minutes are going to go by and everyone's going to arrive in Captain Elorath's corners. Are we going to come with the information that the royals are on our tail? I would imagine. I would imagine this is the thing where Varus is running around like, hey, royals are coming. Elorath wants to talk to us.

That type of thing. Like it'd be quick. Like the TLD bar of it all. OK. So like once everybody's there, she'll kind of just like look at everybody. She'll be like, OK, so I assume you all know the royals are behind us. We didn't have as much of a lead, I guess, as I thought we did. Or maybe they're just faster. I don't know. I would I wanted to get everybody together because my first instinct is to fight them when they get here. And if we're all trying to actually get to a place, I want to have everybody's opinions on this, because if they're faster, then maybe they're also they can fight better.

I don't know. Varus is going to look like he has something to say, but he's purposely not going to say anything and look towards other people to see like what they have to say first. Well, Mary. Oh, go ahead. I have. I was just going to ask, what do you mean by fight them? Do you mean in the sea? Yeah. Like shoot cannons at them or something. You do realize that would probably mean they'll die, right? She's kind of kind of bring it back down a little bit like, all right, fighting in the ocean isn't the same as fighting fist to fist like their ship goes down.

They will probably die or try to get onto our ship. We'll just be like. On the one hand, she's like, well, that doesn't bother me. They haven't done all they've done is been mildly racist status. They also reset all of the traps for us to you. They did that regardless of whether you were there or not. But I just spent a bunch of dumb researchers who? Well, I guess they wouldn't be dumb, but like a bunch of like unqualified researchers who just got killed were unqualified and about history. And they should have hired some adventures. It feels a lot like when I tell you that Loki's done something wrong.

That's impossible. My darling son has never done anything wrong. She's perfect. Yes, he eats pizza. So why the counter? He's a cat. Yeah. That's supposed to. Anyway, Clara would in general, just to summarize, Clara would be against attacking. Because despite the fact that she does want to beat the Royals, she is very much of the opinion, like better man wins. Like we shouldn't be attacking anybody or risking anyone's life over this thing. Right. OK. And there does look a little disturbed as she just kind of looking and just her expression kind of goes a little stern.

Is this the kind of party that we want to be to when we're when we look like we're going to lose, we attack them like pirates? I did not realize this was what you all wanted. It's say this is this is why I want to talk, because, like, I come from a punch first, ask questions later. And I know not everybody else does so. Permission to speak freely, captain. Like irritated. Yes. Merrick is going to have been standing there the whole time with his arms crossed, very and also kind of staring off at nothing, almost detached. And he's going to say there's no reason to hurt them.

They don't even know we exist at all. They don't even know we're here. And even if they did know we were here, they wouldn't know why we were here. This is not a fight. This is not something. Listen, I know I've had a little bit of a grudge to say the least about all of this. We're not going to hurt them, right? Not unless they hurt us then. Well, that goes without saying. But listen, arrogance is one thing and they've got that. But I think that's all they've got. I don't think they have hatred and hurtfulness. I don't think that's what this is. I just don't want them to win because they win a lot.

And I feel like at this point I need a lot of wins. So that's where that came from. But no, I mean, and he's going to start to get a little bit more animated. Like he's going to all of a sudden come back into his body a little bit. And he's going to lean towards the table and he's going to put his hands, his palms down on the table. He's going to start getting passionate the more he talks about it. And he's going to say, and he's looking around at everybody. Alma, I'm trying to paint the picture of him being not aggressive, but a little bit intense. Like for what the moment is all about.

A little bit too much. You don't realize that we've got it really, really good right now. Really good. Even if they swoop here in half a day and go right by us and wave at us on the way and find the gates and become the winners of absolutely everything across all of Theria. We've got it really, really good right now. And he's going to look not pointedly, but he's definitely going to meet eyes with Varus. And he's going to kind of catch himself a little bit too far and stand back up across his arms and be like, and he's going to he's going to acknowledge to Elorath, like, thank you for letting me speak freely, kind of like a nod.

And he's going to shut his ass up. Varus is going to look almost confused and shocked because, I mean, like the last couple of times that we've talked about this topic, it's been, you know, we're going to go do this. We're you know, we're going to get them back, but we're not going to hurt them. Like that was kind of like the three the three major things. And then there's almost a shift seemingly out of nowhere. And so Varus going off of that, he's going to lean forward. I think before we do anything else, we need to decide why we're honestly doing this.

Are we doing this to get back at them or are we doing this for us? I'm doing this to be a hero. Clara is going to cross her arms and very matter of fact, and then she's going to look to the rest of the party. I think, Avilan, he at some point he was sitting down. He's getting more and more tense, but he's going to pop up right after. After Clara says that, he's going to say, I know why I'm doing this. When I was in that cave, I didn't know what was going on. It was pitch black darkness and I felt a dart hit my neck. And that wouldn't have happened if they didn't reset the traps.

I understand we may be going too far. There may be better ways of combating them. We could fight another day, but they must be stopped. They are arrogant and they play by no one's rules but their own. And what if one day they decide those rules change? He's going to sit back down. I actually totally forgot that Avilan almost died down there. You did? Yeah, so you have every right to be pissed. Clara, not so much. She got a cool ring and didn't die. What if he was down there by himself? Yeah. Just a slump. I was going to say, Avilan took a dart. Merrick fell in a pit of serpents.

What if someone went down there just because it was raining? Again, these aren't arguments Clara is making. This is Brianna speaking. But it's like we went in there because it was raining and we needed a place to be. And what if someone else did and died because of them? Anyway. After Avilan speaks, Varys is going to nod his head that's fair. Elorath, why are you doing this? I'm kind of with both of them. And she's going to point like one finger at Clara and one finger at Avilan. Because like I want to stop him real bad because, you know, like he said, we said earlier, you know, we did they did reset the trap.

So whether they meant to or not, they did hurt us. And on the other hand, we signed up to do research for this lady. And I want to help this lady back in Uminero. So that's that's my thinking. And I'm working on getting better at the talking and thinking and not the punching. And that is why I asked everybody here today instead of just saying, we'll fire the cannons. And she's going to kind of laugh like that, too. Like, I'm trying real hard. Oh, Clara's going to smile at her. Yeah. Varys will give a little chuckle and then he's going to look over towards Iris.

Besides being dragged along, why are you doing this? Well, I did want to go out and see the world. And what better way than to join you guys on this on this amazing adventure? I have not I don't really have a big opinion about the royals. I must admit they did wrong you, I admit, from what I've heard. So there is that. But I don't really have much of a thought on that. So I will follow you, all of you, no matter what you decide, even if you decide to attack them now. I will, of course, do my part. But mostly I just want to tag along and see the world. OK.

He's going to look over towards Merrick and meet Iris. Why are you doing this? I don't know. I don't know anymore. They make their own rules. That's annoying. Irritating. But honestly, I don't know. Maybe we can just do a better job. Maybe that's enough. Maybe maybe we can bring something back that nobody's ever thought about. Nobody's ever done. And it'll be different from what they did. But I don't know. I don't know. Clara's going to frown and move closer to Merrick. And she's going to kind of like lean in. It's a quiet room so everyone can see anyway, but almost like she's trying to be private about it and be like, "Are you all right?" Yeah, I'm all right.

I get it. I'm sorry. I just feel like I woke up with some perspective. And I don't know. The royals don't matter as much to me as doing something with all of you and doing something amazing and finding something nobody's ever seen before or hasn't in thousands of years or whatever it might be. They're kind of low on my list. No, no, no. They're kind of low on my list. Strangely, today. Clara's going to smile and reach up to rub Merrick's back and maybe give him a little jostle. You know one of those friendly jostles? We're going to change the world. Yeah. He's going to get super weirdly introspective and he's going to be like, "Yeah.

Hope we change something good." Aveline's arms are folded right now. He looks angry. And if there's a moment of silence, he's going to squint his eyes. He's going to blur it out. What's happened, Merrick? What's happened? You had so much fire in you. So much passion. It's all gone in a blink of an eye. I have no idea what is going on right now. We have nothing but good fortune. We're on this trip. We've came this far. Essentially because of you and halfway through where we're so close and all your passion is gone. Where's the Merrick that looked me in the eyes and said, "It's okay to be a beast sometimes." Do you remember when you handed me your dagger?

You had so much fire in your belly and it's all gone. He's going to walk out. Merrick won't say anything. He'll just take it like a wave of water. He'll bother you on your shoulder. He'll take it completely like a wave of water just splashing all over him. He'll just take it. Clara won't. Clara's going to chase after him. Merrick's going to stop Clara. Clara. Sorry. I say Clara. He's going to stop her. Not aggressively, but he's going to grab Clara's arm a little bit. Clara's going to glare at him and say, "You know better than anyone in this room that he could use a little less fire in his belly." Merrick's just going to let go.

He's just going to try to stop for a moment. Again, he's going to take whatever's being said at him. He's not looking sheepish and forlorn. He's just being stoic. He's not really budging. She'll take a deep breath and stay there though because Merrick wants her to and she recognizes that's probably the right choice. Are we all agreed? We're not going to attack the royals right now? And she's going to scan the room. What are Yarlie and Zalu thinking? They're uncomfortable at this point because they don't want to interrupt because they're the crew and whatever.

I feel like they looked at each other when it was brought up. It's like, "Wait, wait, wait. We're just going to attack people? We haven't done anything?" And then it got more and more intense and then uncomfortable. And then I think at a certain point, Yarlie's rubbing the back of his neck. It's like, "All right. Well, I'm going to hit the old..." "Hit the old dusty trail!" Yeah, I think it's more just they're uncomfortable at this point. Like, "This is not about us." Elrath will probably nod, just like, "Okay." And then just say, you know, everybody's like, "Okay.

Thank you all for coming." Yeah, that's it. That's all I had. Thank you for coming to my TED Talk. Yes. Varus is, during the last bit of the conversation, he was looking down, almost at his feet, just trying to find something else to look at. And then after Elrath closes the meeting, he just looks up at her. "I'm going to get back to the crow's nest. Hellbog and keep an eye out." And without saluting, and I think at this point it's kind of this weird thing where every single time he kind of gives this quick little mock salute. It's going to be the one time, because of the tenseness of the situation, he doesn't salute and he just walks out.

Oh. So there you go. That's all you got to do. You don't want to salute anymore. Just have a nice... Have a nice, "Are we going to murder these innocent people?" Clara's going to give up so much. Innocent is a word. Yeah, that's a word. I get it. She'll give Elrath a little nod and be like, "You did good." And then she's going to take Zalu's hand and kind of say, "I need to talk to you about the crew." And lead her to a private place. About the crew. Yeah. Is that what we're telling it now? The crew? She's being really subtle about... It's a new position. Oh, no.

No! Yeah, she'll go with you. Again, I feel like there's a bit of... For Yarlie, it's more like, "Oh, we're just going to attack innocent folks?" And for Zalu, it's like, "Oh, this is all personal bullshit. This has nothing to do with the ship or the crew or anything. This is you guys and your personal shit." So she will happily leave that room and go anywhere. And if you guys... I don't know if you're going back to your quarters. I don't know if you're going... Wherever. Her quarters, your quarters. Wherever. But once you get there... Yes. I feel like Clara would immediately go for a hard kiss.

Pin Zalu up against the wall a little bit. I told you guys, "The crew." Like, she's frustrated and she just wants, you know, a little tenderness. But after that, she'll just lean against her and put her head against Zalu's chest. Everything's really messed up, huh? How would she respond to that? Because she doesn't know what the fuck... This is your bullshit. Yeah! It's like, "Don't drag me!" This is that relationship stuff that like, "Ah, damn it." This sounds like she's the main character in Life is Strange and she just got thrown into a storyline. "This is fucked up, huh?" What?

Zalu just loaded up... Wait, who disappeared? I don't understand. All these girls look the same. I am going to be honest. I have no idea what's going on between you and your friends. She'll look up and kind of hesitate for a second and be like, "Do you want to?" Her eyes are gonna scream for just a second. Just like a... And kind of gritting her teeth. "Sure." "I've been there." I think we all have, Zach. So I want to quickly, I want to establish we are in Clara's room and the door is closed. And I want to cut to five minutes later and Clara is pacing back and forth.

And then he just straight up killed the guy and he came to me and I don't know why, but he did. And I had to go get Merrick. That sounds very frustrating. Yes. Yes. Yes. There's so literally info dumping onto Zalu everything that brought us up to that point in the bedroom. Okay. I mean, sorry. There's a lot of baggage. And then he killed the guy. And he just touches everything. He just rubs stuff sometimes. I'm really surprised he hasn't tried to touch your fur yet, by the way. Man. Would that be racist? I don't know. I think so. Anyway. I don't know. And this is the man woman doesn't matter.

I don't know if there's a scarier sentence in a world in the world other than can I tell you about something that happened at work today? I don't know. You might as well be stuck in a bear trap. It's it's no, no, no. I had the weirdest dream is that's right up there. Oh, that's right up there. You're right. Worth that. Yeah. Yeah. No. Yeah. Anyway. So she is going to cry. She's got a nod along. And in a long pause. This doesn't sound that bad. I understand that it might be frustrating. But. It could be much worse. That's probably going to make Clara like slow down her pacing for a second and then come to a full stop.

And then look over to Zalu. And kind of hesitate for a moment. As she tries to figure out exactly how to phrase it and be like. How much worse. Well, let me try and put things in perspective. You have friends. That you know aren't going to betray you. You have a ship and a crew and money. You have means. You have. Ambition. I have been in far worse situations. And she's going to in the most comforting way possible. Put her hands on Clara's shoulders. You're being stupid. All right. No one else knows how funny that is. Because that's something that Jason did to Elle the other day.

Oh, in a loving way. In a loving way. And Jason specifically said he was going to have Zalu do it to Clara one time. And that's amazing. And Elle is going to be very happy about that. No, Jason. Jason, don't do that. It was loving. Clara's going to smile and put her hand over one of Zalu's and give it a little squeeze. Did someone betray you? That's just part of the adventuring business. The longer you're on the road, the more people you meet. Well, you're going to run across some untrustworthy characters. I understand that things are tense right now. But I'm sure you'll all work it out.

You seem bonded together. She'll reach up and kind of pet Zalu's cheek and kiss her on the lips. And as she pulls back, can I trust you? And she's going to smile at that. And the smile is probably going to get a little bit wider. Well, I'm not going to betray you, if that's what you're asking. And she's going to smile back and say, do you trust me? Oh boy. So, okay. This is definitely much more touchy feely than she's used to. And she's already in her mind. Like, look, I said the nice comforting thing. What do you want? Like, you just fish in. And she's definitely, for the record, she's definitely being more playful now.

She has that playful smile on her face. Like, do you trust me? It's flirty, not like, when are you going to ask? My sister's boyfriend asked her if she wants to get married. It wasn't that. Zal is going to take out a gun. And she invented the gun. And she's going to... She puts one bullet in, spins it around. Do you trust me? She actually created it while Clara was ranting earlier. I thought she was like, uh-huh. Yeah, just like putting together the fight. I imagine in my head, theater of the mind, I imagine that at some point Zalu like sat down on the bed and was just hanging her head between her legs.

As Clara, not even realizing how miserable she is, was walking back and forth in front of the bed. Oh, it's never about the person listening. No. She's going to, again, that smile is going to fade just ever so slightly. Of course I do. And she's going to clear throat. We should be arriving in Kodai within the week. Trying to change the subject. Clara will nod at that and kind of take the hint like, okay, all right. Yeah. Guess so. And she'll point at the books you've been researching and stuff like that, trying to find out, because getting there is all well and good, but you're trying to figure out, like narrow down the search for what you're looking for a bit.

Yeah, wouldn't it be cool if we knew exactly where it was? Yeah. Anyway, roll for it. Now, have you managed to find anything yet? To narrow down the search. Shae-than? I would say you have it down to three sites. And the problem is they're spread out quite a bit. But you feel like there's just something that isn't quite clicking. Like you're you keep reading the same paragraphs over and over and over again. You've been over this book and you're you're just like, I, I feel like I'm missing something. Like, it feels like you have it feels like there's a page that's been torn out or something like that.

You're reading and it jumps ahead and you're like, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, go back. So there's just something that isn't quite making sense. But you feel like you're right there on the cusp of a breakthrough. She'll walk over to her desk and kind of look down at the papers, maybe spread them out a little bit more like she's trying to fill in that puzzle. And then I feel like I'm very close. I just there's a piece missing, you know, and she'll look over at Zalu and kind of wave her over. Yeah, Zalu will come over. There's three spots that it could definitely be in, but narrowing that down feels impossible with the information I have.

Let me see something. Oh, OK. So I feel like she's going to flip through this and you know, you're looking for some item or temple or something, some some focal point that was originally tied to these gates. You know, you're looking for that. But the problem is you're essentially looking for a needle in a haystack because it's not like there are towns and cities you could visit in Kodai. Everything's gone. Everything's buried. Everything is just sand. And on top of dealing with all the dangers that go along with exploring a new continent and all that stuff, just finding a place that is a good lead is what you're doing.

There's no concrete evidence. So I feel like she is going to kind of be looking at this with a fresh set of eyes, whereas Clara has been over it and over and over it. And I feel like she'd point to a bit that maybe has a different translation or could be read in a different tone or something like that. And it would be like a big neon sign lights up to Clara. And I've highlighted it on the map for you where there were several, several locations that you could check out first. This, you're looking at it and it's like there's an 85% chance that's what we're looking for right there.

And it's almost smack dab in the middle of Kodai near the mountains. Clara will kind of like almost squeal. Like, I don't want to say squeal because I don't think she's the squealing sort. You know what I mean? But like clearly very excited and she'll wrap her arms around Zalu's neck and hug her for a second. You are ingenious. Thank you so much. And I'm wondering if she'd probably take off to go tell Elarath. Just be like, I'll be right back and go to the captain's quarters to let Elarath know. I feel like she'd be left there looking at the maps and the paperwork.

I don't know what I did. Like, just kind of like she doesn't understand how that clicked. But like, hey, good for you. So you tell, you tell Elarath all about this. You guys know now where you're trying to get to. It's just a matter of where you'd like to drop anchor. And, oh boy, you guys are going to be landing on Kodai. You just got to decide how you want to approach the continent. But first, let's do some rapid fire Oregon Trail shit. I think it's time for some rolls. You know what? Brie, we're going with you next. Give me a flat T20 for the next two days.

All right, here I go. What was my last roll? Oh, God, I haven't. OK, last was a one, so I'm due. OK. All right. Here I go. Nine. Slightly worse than a ten. So you guys are gonna hit some choppy water on the twenty second. And for the most part, it's not going to do any damage to the ship, really. There'll be some minor structural stuff, like some shifting of things. Mostly it's just going to play hell on everybody. There's going to be some seasickness here and there. There's going to be some pots and pans falling down. There's going to be some cleanup after this is all done, because life on a ship sucks, guys.

It's not great. So the twenty third. That will put you guys right there. You have now surpassed Talor. You are in the open ocean now. On the twenty third, something's going to happen. Hold on a second. I need to roll a die to see how. OK, well, real quick, before you get there. Yeah, I will make it at least make a point of it that Varus the next morning when him and Merrick go on there. They're like every morning meditation. They will kind of talk about some stuff. It probably doesn't need to be anything that we cover here, but it's just going to be kind of like, what was that look last night type of thing.

So there will be at least a conversation that happens. Somewhere along the way. I like it. Are we are we imagining that happened before we got to this point or from this point forward? It will probably be like he'll let probably a day or two pass to see if you mention anything. And without you mentioning anything halfway through meditation at some point, he'll just kind of stop the meditation to talk to you. OK, so should we I guess this would not have happened at this point or would it have happened at this point? Maybe that was early morning. So, Jason Massey, whatever amazing thing is about to happen from your from your words, I think earlier than that would have been the sunrise meditation.

How about the morning of the twenty third? And I'll get to my thing around noon. You go ahead. Perfect. OK. Yeah. So this has been a thing. I mean, basically every every morning, Merrick's gone up to to do like a sunrise meditation type thing. And I know that that's that's that's become a various and Merrick thing. I probably not very much as said. It's more just a presence than a like a having coffee and chatting. Yeah. I like I picture it of like what we walk into the gym together and we know we're both there to do our thing and then we do our thing and we're right next to each other.

And then afterwards, we're like, oh, yeah, that was good workout. Great. And like walk like I figured like that's about as much talking as normally happens. We're just kind of there sharing the experience. Yeah. So we'll get about halfway through meditation. He's going to stop and look over at Merrick and almost wait to see if he senses like anything different of like, OK, well, how how should I start this? And he's going to sit there for a second. I'm sorry, Merrick. I want to talk about something that just just for the context for Merrick's eyes would be closed.

His hands would be sort of gently on his knees, sort of just crisscross applesauce kind of meditation mode. But he wouldn't say anything at all, which I feel like would just give you the opportunity just to continue. Right. He's listening. Yeah. Well, I'm I'm I really don't know what to say. And this is. What do you mean by things are really good right now? I mean, I know we've had good weather and things have been good, but it seemed like something was behind that. It's going to be a few seconds, long seconds, almost like Merrick's going to finish his cycle of breathing and not passive aggressively.

It's not like a power move, but just finishing it up. And he's going to open his eyes, blink a few times, and he's going to turn very gently towards various. Have you ever you ever had a bad dream? Ferris. Yeah, of course, everyone does. Have you ever had a bad dream that you just couldn't shake? You know, it kind of messed around with your mood for a while. It felt so real that it almost felt like it all happened to you. And and either you were resentful or you were scared or something. And it just you just couldn't get it off no matter what. Showers, it just felt like it.

You couldn't get it off of your skin. He's going to it's going to be a little intense. He's going to it's going to be weird. He's gentle, but it's like, whoa, dude, chill out. Yet, in a sense, I was I kind of hit a funk when my mom died and. I was having these different dreams and such, but I think I know what you're talking about. Well, I'm just trying to remember right now, after having a really bad, bad, bad dream, how to get back to things just being OK. So I guess I just want to remind you, everybody, myself, the universe, the sky, that things could be a lot, lot worse than right now.

And I know I know I'm acting. Something I get it. It's going to roll his eyes a little bit, but I've been pretty self-absorbed. I've been pretty selfish. And he's going to he's not really looking at various in the eyes like he's avoiding it. But when he says he's been selfish, he's going to look him dead in the eye for a moment. And then sort of then then then go back to sort of just expounding. I've been pretty selfish and I don't know. I had a bad dream, Varus. Where things were not good. Where you weren't good, where I wasn't good. None of us were good.

And I feel like something like the Royals. He's going to sort of point his thumb over his shoulder, you know, like back behind there. Maybe that doesn't matter as much. I'm not saying that this isn't exciting, that this isn't important, that that I don't want to be here, that I don't want to do this with you and with everyone. I do. And I think we can do something good. But I don't want to do it out of spite and I don't want to be petty. So I don't know. Give me a day or two. So at this whole time, Varus is like he stayed in the same position that he was in before while meditating.

And then he just kind of like turned his head and looked over. But at this point, he's going to completely shift his stance to face Merrick. OK, I get the stuff about trying not to be petty and moving on with that. That's one of the things that I've had a problem with how we've been going about this whole situation. But you're acting more than just worried from a dream. What happened in that dream? It had to be pretty dramatic. But what happened? Merrick will get a little bit. His body language is going to tense up a little bit and he'll be a little defensive in his tone, not not aggressive or offensive.

But he is going to you're going to feel it tighten up a little bit. And he'll say. I had a dream where we were all at our worst. And think of it like a vision. Think of it like. I saw a future where nothing was OK. That's a hard thing to shake off, you know. Yeah, I'm saying. And he's he's going to he's going to take his finger and and point at the ship and he's going to pound his finger. He's pointing like boom, boom, boom. This right here, this right now is as good as we're going to get. And it's better than that dream. And you're better than that dream. So I'm going to make sure.

As selfish as I've been, as petty as I've been. I'm going to try to keep everybody here safe. I'm going to keep you safe. I'm going to keep everybody safe. It's going to be weirdly intense. Just to remind you. Yeah. Oh, dude. OK. He's not in a little bit. Make sure you keep us inside that plan and not just a victim of your plan. We're all in here to do this together. Yeah. You see, that's what I'm afraid of is making sure that my plans don't screw with anybody else. Like what I don't know, there's I don't know what it means. But just know that I'm going to fix it.

And again, he's getting tense and it's going to feel probably very weird from the outside. It's it's like, whoa, dude, you're escalating somehow. It's not stress. It's just tightening up. Yeah. And he's going to he's just he's going to to start to fidget and. And he's going to start gathering his stuff like a mat that he has, like what it's sort of cloth or whatever that he's using. He's just going to start gathering it and he's going to say without looking at it, various and without stopping. He's just going to gather all of his stuff up and he's going to say, I'm going to fix it.

And then he's going to take off. And I think at this point, the shot would kind of close out with just various kind of looking at where Merrick was sitting. And just kind of staring at that, trying to just process what in the world Merrick is trying to tell at this point. So in the afternoon of the twenty third. The royals are going to catch up to you guys. Now, what's interesting here is that I think a lesser group would be paranoid that there's another ship out here that that maybe someone's on to something thereafter. I think that they're so you could call it self-concerned or conceited.

You could also call it competent that they either don't don't think that you guys would have any of the information that they would or they don't see you as a threat or whatever. But they will pass you. But they're fairly close in that they're probably two, three hundred yards away, something like that. And there you're going to hear a noise as a dozen trumpet players take these long trumpets and essentially play like the Royals theme as they sail by. Not as like, haha, we're beating you, but just like we're going to brighten your day by letting you know the Royals are here and just like they're there.

The flag with their emblem is, you know, flying high above their ship and it is extra. Whereas so do we have a replacement for old Blasty on the new version of this ship? Ah, this because Merrick's going to go straight to it. I'm just kidding. Yeah, Elrath is going to be like, say I was right. Fuck you. No, I'm kidding. But she would just be like, you could see her visibly dying inside. She's doing what I'm doing right now, which is sitting back and whatever she's sitting in her hands or behind her head, just. Okay. Being a bigger person. Hey, Mandy. Yes. Do me a favor and give me a flat 220 please.

Come on, Romeo. Come on. If I would do the entire time. We're going to advance time. To the 25th of Ulta Ornn and you are going to you're going to be closing in the open ocean like you're just fucking sailing. Everything's going pretty well. You've got a good crew. The weather's been fairly kind to you. You're going to feel things get a little warmer. You're going to feel things like not not crazy warm, but like it's going to warm up a couple of degrees because you were pretty far north in your in your venture. And as you travel south, you're going to feel things warm up a few degrees each day.

Just Zach, give me flat 20 please. Absolutely. 19. Look at that. Thank you, Zach. No problem. Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. So you guys have a decision to make on the 27th. How do you want to approach this spot? Clarys told Elorath about it. I imagine the crew knows about it. So you're shooting for basically the center of Kodai. It's a little further south. But do you want to approach Kodai from the north and go through the mountains? I could give you a few different options if you'd like. And you tell me what sounds the best to you. Did we see where the royals were going?

Like, did they? Yeah. Going more right? More left? Straight. Do you want to give me a perception check, everybody? Yes. Yes. I will see nothing, but I want to do it. Hey. Fucking hell. Jesus. Fuck yes. Yeah. That's another one for Clara. Clara has been drunk this entire trip. It's a problem, guys. I think... Drunk on love. Maybe. Sorry. That was really dumb. Ah, geez. Varus and Iris are going to notice that it looks as though... It looks as though the royals broke... They broke west. So it looks like they might be sailing to the western portion of Kodai? Maybe northwest? Somewhere in there?

You don't know if they have the same information as you, better information as you. You don't know. They might just have such hubris that they figure they could land anywhere on the continent. Guaranteed. So here's what I'm going to do. I think... Varus is your navigator. Varus? Uh oh. Do me a favor. Give me a nature or history check, please. Oh. OK, well, let's see. Let's do it. Nature is negative. There we go. 19! Beautiful. 19 in history. So here's what I'm going to do. I'm going to give you four options. Four beautiful options. You can land on the north side of Kodai.

Now, every one of these options is going to have some negatives and some positives. So it's up to you guys to suss out what feels right for the group. OK, the north side of Kodai is one of the most difficult in terms of traversal. If you land on the north side, you're going to be going through mountains. Lots of mountains. It's going to be rocky and dangerous, but it'll also be much more shaded than landing pretty much anywhere else on this island. So water consumption will drop off a little bit. It's going to be tough. It's OK, we can just boil some. It's true.

You can. Not when you're on dirt. So boil the dirt. That's OK. OK. Yeah, you're right. It's the dirt. Yeah. Otherwise it'd work. Otherwise it'd work. Yeah. And just like in Waterworld, we know that we can drink our own pee. Like we know that that is an option. Yeah, that's true. So the north side is going to be... Does that happen in Waterworld? Yes, it does. I don't remember that scene. That's like the opening scene. Oh, I wish it wasn't. It is. It's called Waterworld. Yeah, put it in a machine, but still, yes. The original title was Water Sports World and they changed it.

So again, north side of Kodai, it's going to be... It's much slower going, but a bit shaded and you're less likely to run into something beneath the sand that's going to gobble you up. If you land on the east side, you could venture in to... You could probably venture into this little bay area, which again would be a bit slow going because you don't want to run aground, but it would place you smack dab almost to your destination. The problem there is you got to look out for blue dragons, which the closer you get to the center of Kodai, the more likely you are to find dragons.

And that's a problem. Obviously, you don't want to run into dragons. South side of Kodai, you're going to have to cross a vast open expanse of desert. That is endless trudging through just this blast furnace of heat. And it's really rough and water is going to be a huge concern pretty much no matter where you land. Of course, the west side is pretty much the same thing, although the west side has some advanced creatures. You're going to run into a lot of things that hide during the day and attack at night. Lots of nocturnal animals on the west side. So which side sounds best to you?

Bay. Yeah, I mean, I'd have to agree. Would we be able to effectively navigate through the barrier islands up here to like the northeast? Slowly, yeah. If you went that way, it would probably add two days to your journey. But then you have to count all the time we're going to save going right foot because the ship goes faster than walking. So it's also going to be a lot of resources that we'll be able to save. Yeah, that's that is Lisa's gut instinct is to say the closest we can get to our ultimate destination. OK, so I feel like if Clara will when Clara brings that to her attention, Elarath probably would have gotten like Varus and probably Yarlie and from like, all right, here's where we want to go.

Can we get there going this way? And what's the best way of this way? There was an arm gesture that went with it. So that estimate is based on everything going great. So as long as you guys continue to roll well, yeah, it'll just tack on a couple of days. Once you get to those islands, it'll be slow sailing. Obviously, if the royals went to the west side, they'd be hitting shore before you. But they'd have to trek through the desert, too. So if that's where we also don't know if they haven't narrowed down yet. Exactly. They could be going to a completely different destination.

Also, no, no, I'm just thinking, sorry, they're not in a race. They're just going. Yeah. Right. We're the only ones racing. So they at some point could just take their time a little bit. Right. Also, don't they have the exact same information as we do? Because they don't have a Zalu. Here's the thing. They started with the same information as you. Right. Oh, my God. This is the Well of Souls from Indiana Jones. They think it's there for there. They only have half the influence. Exactly. Because we know we have the Zalu who actually was able to translate a little bit differently.

We know exactly where the Well of Souls is. Jehovah starts with an I. [Laughter] Yeah, like that. Like that thing I know about. We're going to watch all the fucking Indiana Jones. Nice job, Belle. Oh, hell yeah. I saw the alien one. Does that count? It's okay, Belle. No, it fucking doesn't. He was in a refrigerator and then Shia LaBeouf showed up. I'm going to punch you. No, stop. Stop. That didn't happen? Just like Matrix 2 and 3 didn't happen? Nope. All right, let's go. I'm going to punch you and there's not a court in the world that would convict me. [Laughter] Dismissed. [Laughter] Crystal Sky...

Get out of here, Clank, Gavel, Gavel, Gavel. I'm going to hit you. Okay. So, let's see who hasn't rolled for me. It's Jasper. Yeesh. Okay. All right, here we go. Let's do it. Ooh, that's a five. That was a five. Come on. With advantage, I can do it again. That's okay. [Laughter] That's a three. I'll go for the five. Oh, man. Okay, so... On the 29th, you're going to run into some difficulties. The ship is almost going to run aground. You're going to be trying to navigate between this chain of islands here, and through some miscommunication with the crew, you're going to get very close to some land.

And the ship is actually going to scrape up against this rock. Now, there's going to be minimal damage to the boat, but it is going to cause a pretty damn big scare amongst the crew. And it's going to take Clara and everybody a bit of time to work out the damage before you go any further. So, it's going to cost you a day. 30th. Who's next? Who hasn't rolled? I don't think Lisa's rolled. Yeah, Lisa. Lisa and Ryan. I did the travel dice, but Brian did roll the flat D20 earlier, so I do believe it is my turn. Okay, let's do it. [Sigh] [Laughter] Oh, okay. Three.

Wait. Damn it! No, no. That's Jesper. Oh, that was me. I'm sorry. I'm screwing around. [Laughter] Are we on the 29th or the 30th? You're on the 30th now. Jesper, are you trying to convince Lisa's dice roll? Yeah, I'm sorry. I was screwing around with my table and I'm sorry. That was an accident. I was like, "Oh, okay." [Laughter] Come on. Good. Sorry. It would be the first. The first of dueling now. Oh, the first. Right, because all of the months have 29 days except for one month. Anyway, that's the first. Yeah, there's a stupid rhyme about it that doesn't rhyme or make sense.

The first of what? Dueling. Dueling. I wrote duelimon. Duelimon. D-U-L-I-N. No apostrophe? D-U-L-I-N. Okay. No apostrophe. Stop it. No apostrophe. [Laughter] I do. Sorry. That would be ridiculous. Now, let's get to Kodai with an apostrophe. Okay. Just... Okay. Lisa. [Sigh] Oh, okay. Yeah. Hey. 17. Not bad at all. Ooh, beautiful. You guys are back on track. Okay. You will get to... You will get to this bay area. I need one more roll. Who's gonna volunteer? One more roll. It'll be the third of duel. Give it to me. All right. Just D20. Perfect. I believe in you. Ah, well, yeah. I believed in you.

Yeah. Okay. Let's advance ahead. I'm gonna say that because of the tightness getting in here, it's gonna take you three days. 'Cause that's a five. And when you reach the shore, you're gonna stop right about there. Because that is where you feel as though you won't want to ground, you can drop anchor, everything's fine. But you kinda don't want to move the ship anymore. Now, doing simple math, you would estimate that the royals could have had as much as six or seven days on the continent before you. What? Christ. Okay. No. Let's just head back. Uh oh. Watch Ron.

Now again, that's a hell of a lot to take on faith. One, they don't know they're in a race. They might not have the same information as you. They might be heading to a completely different spot. All that. There's lots of what ifs here. But. Maybe they sat and had a party for the first week. Maybe they did. By the way, the heat is so fucking intense right now. It is terrible. Oh, I love it. It's the worst. Yay. I bet it's great. I bet it feels amazing. No. So. I bet it does too, Klara. Or, Brianna. I'm sorry, Brianna. I wish I were Klara. Uh, I would say right now, even though you're near the water, it's somewhere in the area of 120 degrees.

That's Fahrenheit. Not Celsius. Good lord. Man. It is oppressive. Here you go. I'm gonna roll a stressed eye just for fun. Done. Why did you do that? Stop volunteering. So, to change the subject, what date did we end up making landfall? The sixth. The sixth of June. Oh, okay. Alright. Right. So. Landed on the sixth. Good. Um, can we take a tiny boat and just kind of like follow the edges until we get here? I would not advise it. Oh. Why not? Only because, well, okay. But the blue dragons hang out in the sand, so it'd be better not to be in the sand. That's my argument. No, I completely agree.

Here's the thing. You don't want to take a dinghy and traverse for a day along the shoreline. Okay. I'm just telling you. That's fair. I don't know what a dinghy is, so. A small boat. Right. But like, I don't know the hit points and the semantics of a dinghy. Less than the big ship. Probably. Alright, so let's hug the shore. Let's trek, right? I mean, we're here for one reason. We're not here to do anything else unless it's find spices or something. Which, by the way, Merrick would be on top of, looking for something interesting. Let's hug the shore. There's no reason to go inland, right?

Basically, if we can... I don't know what time of day we would have arrived, but... Let's say noon. Who is coming with us, and is the boat waiting for us? Well, I think the crew did not sign up. Here's the thing, the crew did not sign up to get off the ship and explore deadly ruins. Potentially deadly ruins. What they signed up for is sailing a ship. So what they would be doing is essentially being your getaway driver, right? Like, they would have the ship prepared, they'd be ready for you guys, they would make sure everything is in tip-top condition for when/if you get back.

And they would be ready to get the hell out of this little habba. Habba. Fa habba. Um... Cool. Good. So I'm going to do a few things. Because I love you guys. Thank you. I love you too! I'm imagining you're going to be packing fairly light in terms of ditching anything that would be extra stuff. Like, you'd keep the essentials, the adventuring gear in your packs, and you'd probably carry three times the amount of water that you'd normally carry. Yes, that's exactly what I was going to say. You were so smart. Merrick will never go anywhere without lots and lots of water at this point.

There was PTSD from... We're going to stay the fuck hydrated. Now, obviously, trying to find water on land is going to be difficult on Kodai, but that's probably going to be one of your first... One of your first priorities. If you could find a spring or anything, a puddle somewhere, go for it. And remember, boiling salt water is always an option. If you find some, drink it. Drink it down. It's refreshing. You know, we could actually set up some sort of funnel system. There's sand. It's literally a rapid sand filter. Yes, that's what I was going to say. Is Elarath going to tell us that?

No! She wouldn't know! Did Elarath go to school for water? No! She went to school for punching. *laughter* I think that's Harvard. It's Harvard. Harvard! Harvard, yeah! Iris wants to... Do I still get to keep the Oranash from the ship before we... Do you want to take it with you? Yes. So you want to take heroin? Or morphine, basically, is what the... Okay. I think we might need it, and it's not, like, giant, right? No, no, no. It's more just like, you want to take hardcore drugs out with you? Okay. I think we're going to need anything we want, so I'm taking a med kit and I'm stuffing that in there.

Okay! That's fantastic. You never know, right? Alright guys, are we getting off this ship? Yes. I like it. Yeah. Welcome to Kodai, everybody. Yay! And that sounds like a great place to end the episode. But, no. You're not supposed to say that. I'm trying to make Jason's life a little easier because he has to edit this, but he can do whatever he wants. I feel like that would be blue-balling our audience just a tiny bit. So, here's what we're going to do. Did they hear about me cuddling with my girlfriend? That was lovely. I don't... I don't... I think that's enough.

I think that's more for you than them. Yeah, it's fair. So, here's what we're going to do. Alright, let's go. You're going to drop anchor here in this bay. And you are going to take a smaller ship and row it to shore. You're going to pull the boat up on the sand here and make sure that it's not going to get swept out. And all of you are going to set foot on Kodai officially for the first time ever. And as far as you can see, it's just sand. It is coarse, it's rough, and it gets everywhere. I would like one of you to do me a favor and give me a flat D20 to see how the continent is going to treat you your first day here.

I'll do it. Yeah! Nice. Fifteen. I think that's a good time for us to stop. Wow. Well, that's not difficult. Oh wow. Alright. You sure? So what you were saying is we weren't blue balling the audience enough. Exactly. Now, when we come back, we are actually going to get to explore this continent in earnest. You guys are going to see brand new shit you've never seen before, and we're going to see if we can get you guys to survive long enough to see if you can find this old ruin. Yeah! Hot. I'm excited. Rolling fog survivals down to see how we can handle this. [LAUGHTER]
