Before we get to today's episode, I just wanted to tell you a little bit about today's sponsor, Daniel's Maps. If that name sounds familiar to you, you know that that is the cartographer we used to do every map in The Adventurer's Guide to Theory of Volume 1.

And he's doing the follow-up book right now. While he does do commissions and he's very good at finding out exactly what you're trying to accomplish and what you're trying to show your players, he also has a Patreon. And for just $1, you can get access to over 150 maps right this minute. While all these places have backstory and lore attached to them, you can use them for your own games and put your own spin on it. Trust me, it adds a dimension to what you're trying to do. And it helps bring the game to life for people. So go check out Daniel's Maps right now.

You can find a link to the Patreon in the description of this episode. And check out some of the artistry that inspired us to work with this person time and time again. Now, without further ado, let's get to it. Hi, and welcome to Dungeons and Randomness. I am Alex, also known as Kinan, the cleric on my team on our squad, the Ravens. Thank you for checking us out. Don't forget, you can find us on Patreon at patreon.com/danddr. We have a Discord also. We're the community talks, chats about the story, games, board games, what have you. You can also find our link for that on our website, as well as our Patreon.

If you are a patron, you're allowed into Patreon exclusive chat rooms within the Discord. So don't miss that out. Don't miss out on that as well. You can find all of our social media things on the website, dandrpodcast.com, spelled the same as before. Last time on the Ravens, the group headed east. And we ran into a funny, bumbling-looking guy named Terry, covered in very heavy armor, rescued him from wolves, and decided that we're going to take him east with us, possibly stopping on our way to Dawnhurst and maybe dropping him off. We'll see what happens with him. [VOCALIZING] Ooh, let's do that thing, where we go around the table to introduce ourselves.

I'm Jason. I'm the Game Master, going around the table, starting with Jasper. Oh, I'm Jasper. I play Petrichor Mulch, the Wildan Shaman. And Susan. Hey, I'm Susan, and I play Tamika Fildihand, the half-shifter, half-gnome, untamed mage. And Bree? Sorry, Brianna. Oh, thank you. Hi, I'm Brianna Marie, and I play runes. He is a pure heart pit fighter. And last and certainly not least, the team leader, the man with the plan, the one that will always lead you down the righteous path and never steer you wrong, Alex. Hi, I'm Alex. I'm playing K'naan, the Night Watcher/Healer/Team Captain of the Ravens.

To be specific, that was Alex. So any problems you have in life-- Nope. --and Alex didn't steer you negative-- --in the right direction? They're not approved. They're not approved. Yeah. [LAUGHTER] No, no consent. No consent. [LAUGHTER] So last time, you guys met Terry. And Terry is a well-meaning, but maybe not street-savvy guy who wants to be a Paladin of Kord. And the problem is he is nowhere near Esther Holt. But at the very least, you guys found him after he tumbled down a steep hill. He was kind of looking out, trying to find-- like, I guess, like try to get some elevation.

It's like, well, where the hell am I? Then he hears wolves in the distance-- not near him-- in the distance, slips and falls and breaks his arm. Oh, I forgot about his arm. It's being broken. Nope, it is broken. So what I'd love to do is I would love to pick up after that canonically-- [LAUGHTER] Canonically. [LAUGHTER] That's going to be a shirt. Whoa, whoa. It's going to happen until I die and make a new character. [LAUGHTER] So you guys-- you're one day outside of Overdale. This isn't like-- you haven't really gotten that far. Basically, you were at a crossroads, and I'm guessing you guys are going to continue north.

If you were to break to the east, you'd be on a collision course with the mountains and you'd have to go south down around Odysseia to get to Esther Holt. I don't think that's any of your guys' plan. I don't think Esther Holt's really in the cards for you at all, unless I'm putting words in your mouth. Mm-mm. No. No, I don't think so. I mean, we've got a mission, right? We're supposed to get to Dawnhurst, and there's a straight path there. It's not easy. It's not quick. But Esther Holt's not on the way. So you guys are smack dab in the middle of White Wolf Valley.

And we have a new travel system, and I really like our new travel system. Before on the show, we used to ask you guys for a flat D20, and we just kind of let luck sort it out. Here's the way it works. Now you guys decide how much of a risk you'd like to take. Now, a D4 is the standard let's just walk for most of the day. It is eight hours of travel. It is the least risk that you'll encounter. And if you just want to play it safe, win, lose or draw, it's not going to be huge, right? If something good happens, if you roll a three or a four and a D4, something good happens.

But it's going to be like, oh, I found a quarter. Like it's heads up. All right, good luck. You know, whatever. If it's bad, it's going to be like, no, now it's raining and my hair is wet. Like it's not going to be too bad, right? Of course, the higher you go up every time you bump up that die, if you bump up from a D4 to a D6, guess what? That's 16 hours of travel. That's a day and a third of travel, because we're assuming you guys walk for about 12 hours a day. Because what else are you doing? Right? You can bump it all the way up to a D12. And that is 48 hours of travel.

That is risky, because while you get to skip ahead down that, like, okay, let's say you guys are traveling through the divide and you guys are smack dab in the middle of the deadwood in the Pyre Forest. And you're like, look, this is orc country and ambush hills. Let's just get out of here. And you risk it all on a D12. You better hope you roll a six or above because or seven above anything below that. And it's bad. And if you roll a one, oh, boy, it's bad. Now, if you roll a 12, on the other hand, holy shit, that's that's massive. That's going to be some new gear or a huge windfall or a secret that no one else knows about.

I like secrets. In case of emergency, there's the D20. That is seven days worth of travel. Oh, my God. That's almost like teleporting. But if you fuck that up, oh, boy. And if you roll a one, on the other hand, if you roll a 20 on a D20 for a travel die, I will personally fly to your fly to your houses and give you a back rub every single one of you. My God, damn good. Back rubs are really fucking good. Yeah, it's not optional. Unfortunately, it's non transferable. It's not for you. He's doing it. It's for him. No, it's for me. OK, so between where we are right now, White Wolf Valley and Don Hurst, which is our ultimate destination.

At least for the moment, how roughly many days if we were to sort of go and also follow a question, Dernhollow is not quite halfway. It's a little bit further than halfway. But how far is Dernhollow? That's the next big place, bigger place we could get to. How many days are we talking roughly? So I got a map up for you guys. And the wonderful thing about the map is there's a scale right on the top, right? And we're going to have to use well, we're going to have to use multiple hundreds of miles. So if you were to continue on this path, it would take you about three days, three absolutely full days of hiking with no breaks.

But assuming you guys are taking a couple of hour long breaks a day, it's probably more like three and a half. OK, that's just to get to Dernhollow. Getting through the divide is going to be trickier. That's worse. I did it once. It's a lot tougher. It's long, but it's at least a week to Don Hurst. Yeah, probably more. Oh, yeah. Oh, heavens, yes. And here's the thing, the the the path you guys are on right now isn't too dangerous. Obviously, once you pass Dernhollow and you're in the divide, that that travel time is going to be slower because we're assuming you guys are keeping your head on the swivel.

You're kind of being quiet. You know what I mean? Right now, it's that stand by me, you guys walking on the train track stuff, just singing, having fun, you know, hanging out with Terry. So, you know. OK. OK, my vote is D, I believe eight is the D eight. That's the dice I think we want to use. That's how many days. So in total, in total, you need to have thirty four, almost thirty five hours of actual walking time. And D four is eight and every step up is another eight hours. So it's like twenty four hours per D eight to be three of them or two at the most.

Three of them. Well, it looks like so if you so D ten's thirty two hours, we can just do one D ten. Knock it out. I need to be clear, obviously, I'm not going to throw something at you that is completely out of your depth. Let's say you rolled very poorly on a D ten. Obviously, it's going to be a very bad thing, but it's not going to be like ancient red dragon. You're all dead. You know what I mean? It's going to be within your you know what I mean? Your world, your sphere. It's like basically what's the worst thing that could happen to a bunch of level ones?

You know, a group of level threes is the worst thing. I vote. OK, now that that kind of changed my mind because if a D ten get us there in one shot. I mean, I have to be I have to believe in the metrics of statistics and I'm going to say D eight is probably the safer bet. And it's a little risky, but I don't know. It just seems like the natural fit. See, here's the wonderful thing about the system. Do you risk it all with one roll and just get it over with? Or do you stretch it out over multiple roles? Yeah. Plus, we got to get some time to talk to Terry, get to know him, you know?

Now I've over D eight, but of course I want to hear what everyone else is thinking. I was someone who was supposed to make this choice. I didn't. Huh? I don't. Did we choose someone who is like how we blamed Susan last time? Like, is there is there one person who we can just put all of this on? I'm very happy to put it all on Alex. Yeah, I think so, too. I love to have somebody to blame. Travel die roll should go to the team. Leave the first after you guys are on the road, this your first official travel die. I think it should go to the team leader. I think it's yours.

Yeah, no, I think it's not. Alex decides to be fine. This is how he dies. Delegate next time. He's all knowing. He he knows what's best. He'd never let us down. It's true. Okay. The sarcasm is palpable, but I will not have it. I will take this. There is. I am not being sarcastic at all. I trust you with my life, Alex. Oh, well, that's a bad idea. I played with you as a DM, so no. No. She hasn't gotten her spare keys for two years. Okay. Okay. That's true. Yeah. So whether you're live, you can even be spared. We're going D20s. Are you out of here? Because everything's going to happen.

I mean, if you don't trust her, that's fine. You could just say I don't trust you. But she used to be here. I'm sorry. I'm able to say anything about that. But it's a very subtle, nuanced way of saying, please. Did you do the thing where you start compiling her clothing so that it takes up less and less drawer space? Did you do that too? Or like, what is that? What move is that? What does that try to slowly move her out? Like, oh, okay. I'm sorry. I misinterpreted. Two years. That's all I'm saying. I'm going to choose the D8. If anything goes wrong, it's because you fucking deserved it.

All right. Hey, guys, give me a D8. And we're looking for the better half, the five and above. That's eight. Yeah. Nice. See, you guys were fretting over nothing. But that's only like 24 hours. Hey, that's a lot. Two thirds of the way there, man. Okay. Yeah. So we would move this little dot here. I think I can just move it up to about this crossroad. That's shit. That's fantastic. So in the Overland map on a video game, basically, it's like you marching along. And guess what? No random encounters. Nothing bad is going to happen to you. As a matter of fact, this is, I would say, late into your second day.

Right. And you guys have had a chance to get to know Terry a bit. And again, seems like a totally habitable dude. He wants to protect people. I don't know why the aggressive Paladins of Kord appeal to him, but maybe they have a fantastic dental plan or he's trying to go to college. I don't know. But the entire time he's kind of like, Yeah, I'm going to be late. So when you get to this crossroad here, there's going to be a moment where, like, Terry's kind of looking ahead to where you guys were marching toward. And then he's kind of like looking to the southeast.

The southeast is toward Esterholt. There's a little sign that says Esterholt. But that is a trail that leads through the mountains. There's actually a pass that the Overwatch way back in the day set up that was a really deadly toll. And what they would do, they would inspect people coming out of Esterholt or going toward the Overwatch and see if you were smuggling nonhumans or contraband or something like that. Just basically, they used it as a way to just shake people down and take valuables if they wanted to. Like, it was kind of a remote area, so it was a little crooked, but it's a wonderful ambush spot because it is smack dab in between the Black Rock Mountains and the Blistering Peak.

So there's a point where you're basically going up into the basis of the mountains and then coming down. And the new Vol slavers have pretty much to give them as the Tusken Raiders that blend in with the scenery. And they usually don't bother you unless, one, it looks like you have something worth taking or two, you're one of the exotic races, like an Aladrin or something like that, something they could sell to somebody, right? Man, this guy sounds like winners. Oh, no, they're true pieces of shit. In recent years, thanks to some actions of other players, their numbers are shrinking.

They're, you know, it's getting better. But Terry's going to be looking that way. And he's kind of... Guys, I might go that way. I know it's a little dangerous to travel alone, but Esther holds like right there and, you know, I just didn't want to insult you guys. You've been so nice. And Terry's a hand talker, something I would know nothing about, but with his broken arm, he keeps trying to motion with it. So like every once in a while he'll go, like, he'll and he'll like, stop. He'll stop using it. And then, like, a couple of minutes later, he'll get really into it again.

And like, he'll just kind of like winces every once in a while. I feel like throughout this whole walk, this whole trek, Petrichor is just a chatty, you know, nice person. Just probably just chatted and chatted and chatted and chatted with Terry, just asking all kind of things. Petrichor is going to walk right on up to him, and he's going to put his hand on his shoulder, the shoulder that's not the broken arm. And he's going to look him dead in the eye, and he's going to say, Terry, I want you to tell me right now, what is it about, Esther Holt, for you?

What is it about these paladins for you? What is it? What does it make you feel when you think about that? Come on, tell me. I want to know the honest truth right now. Give me your gut. I mean, I guess it's just being part of something, right? Something bigger than me, something, you know, I don't know, you really have to try for it? That there's not a ton of them left. And, you know, I just feel like I don't feel like I could do some good. I hear you. Listen, there's something we say in my language. It translated it to find yourself. You got to lose yourself.

And what it means is the only way that you're going to know who you really are is to dedicate yourself to other people, not yourself. I think that's what you're doing. Yeah. No, I think you're right. I look, I'm not cut out to be like a merchant, you know, like that. My, you know, my family, they're merchants and they like it and they've been doing it forever. And that's great. But like, it's just not my thing. I don't want to do it. You know, you got to do what feels right for you. I tell you one thing, though, Terry, we sure could use your help. We got some rebuilding to do.

You mean at Donhurst? Well, yeah. I mean, that's what we're up for. And I know you haven't been part of our training where you're not a white raven or nothing like that. But at the same time, you've got a good heart. You got strong hands. Well, you got one strong hand. Nice. I feel like you could do some good with us, but I understand what you're talking about here. And he's going to point at his stomach, point at his gut. I get it. I get it. You can make a real difference for yourself and you can make a real difference for others in a couple of different directions here.

He's going to point at the sign, this pointing towards Durn Hollow and pointing towards Astor Holt. You got yourself a crossroads right here inside and out. He's going to look around to the rest of it. What y'all think? Can on I assume like we're all at some sort of campfire because it's the end of the second day, right? Yeah. It's like you guys are you're not literally right in front of the sun. But it's yeah. So I think Canan is like trying to prepare like food, whatever, like make the rations a little better as best he can. And he'll look over to where Petrichor and Terry are talking and he'll say, I know one thing.

And he'll look at Terry, go down there now in the state you're in, you're never going to get to Astor Holt. That's a fact. There's all kinds of things in the mountains, in between the mountains and on the road. And that's normally trouble enough for people with two arms, Terry. One arm against bandits or, you know, other creatures up there. I say, why not come with us to Durn Hollow, even if you don't decide to go with us the whole way? You know, get yourself a ride down south, a proper ride. Let us help you get it organized, at least. I want to see two rolls.

So here's what we're going to do. I'm going to roll two D6s, and this is going to be your difficulty. So let me let me see. Boom. Two D6s and no, I hate. Jasper, I want you to take your presence, your class and appeal. And I want you to give that a roll for me. All right. Give me a second here to figure out this new sheet real quick. And I'll be right there. I'm sorry. You said presence. And you said what else? My apologies. Your class. Yep. Got it. And appeal. Your appeal skill. Got it. So this is you basically everything you said to him. This is just like, what weight does that have here?

Gotcha. That's the thing now, is that am I trying to get him to do what I wanted him to do or not? I'm not sure. I mean, if Petrichor was being heartfelt about all of that and he wants him to follow his gut, even if it's going to be tough, I would take my two fives there and I'd have a D8 as my effect die. So I get a 10 and a D8. Yeah. I honestly think I'd step up that effect die with what Kanan said. So it's just I think that's a very convincing argument, but it's there's a difference between someone agreeing. It's like, yeah. And kind of being gung ho about it.

And I think you'd be more gung ho about it. Just like, you know what? Yeah. You guys have been really nice. You helped me out of a jam. And I do want to pay it back. And if you don't want money, I have money. You can have that. But if you don't want it, you can at least visit one of our retailers. We have a location in Durin Hollow if you want some free stuff or discounted stuff. Terry, we've talked about this on the road. You really, really need to stop mentioning how much money you have. Right. But like, you already know. We don't know. Just shush. Well, okay.

I won't tell anybody new. I'm not trying to brag. I'm just trying to, like, solve the problem. Oh, I know. I know it's not a bag, but for your safety, especially if you were to go off by yourself right now. No, no, no, no, no. So, okay. I'm just going to. Okay. So I'm going to tell you this, and then I'm not going to mention it anymore. But so, okay. My mom and dad are actually importers, and they've been doing it in Brightport for, like, a long time. And I didn't. I kind of got tired of living in the real big house with the staff, and they're always waiting on you and everything.

I just don't want that. I kind of want to get out and see new stuff. But so they gave me a couple of these cards to use whenever I wanted to. So if you're in, like, any major town or city, you can go to the one of the retailers and just, like, drop my name there and, like, take one of these cards and they'll set you up with whatever. And it just goes back to my mom and dad that they just get paid that way. So, you know, no one's getting ripped off. Everyone gets what they want. And yeah. Okay, Terry, C'Nan gets up from the seat and sits down next to him and your petrichor takes, I guess, one of the cards.

There's only one card, right? Per group, per the group or is it multiple cards? Yeah. Think of it as like a voucher, because, like, so Terry belongs to this family, the Donnellist family. And there are, like, pretty big names in Brightport. They're a noble family, been there for, like, 80 years, right? They've made a fortune off of trade and they supply a ton of, you know, general stores and stuff like that around here. So basically no one would really know Terry, but they know the name. So, like, this is like an official voucher type thing. It's like, hey, you know where you get your goods.

And this is, you know what I mean? So this is kind of like almost like a credit card. Think of it that way. Gotcha. All right. But C'Nan will take it. And then still looking Terry directly in his eyes. We're going to make sure you get to where you need to go. But for now, we want you to go with those to Durin Hall so that we know you're safe, at least on this first checkpoint. Then from there, you can really decide if you want to stick around for a while or if you want to head down and train with the paladins. Either one I can guarantee you is filled with honor and blood for sure.

And as he says this, he kind of like looks to the rest of the group, realizing, like, that's probably too much truth. But it's time. He's been trying to psych himself up the whole walk there. I know. Keep looking at Terry to see his response. Well, yeah, I imagine there's tons of blood. You said you said there's a bunch of vampires there? Hell naught. Yep. He's not even going to pick up on the fact that you were inferring his path down that way would be filled with blood. It's like, oh, yeah, no, of course, vampires. Yeah, there's lots of blood. Yeah. Okay. Well, thanks for this.

And he'll hold it up, put it, he'll stash it in like a vest pocket or whatever pockets available for now. Don't think too hard on it. Get some grub and let's just enjoy the peaceful night. I don't think there'll be many of these on either route. We take while you guys are kind of hanging out and just kind of relaxing, Terry's going to chime in and just kind of ask everybody after that, there might be like that silence of just a crackling fire. You hear crickets in the background type of thing. And then just like, if someone doesn't speak soon, I'm going to lose my mind.

Terry's very much that guy. He takes any silence as, oh, no, someone's mad at me type of thing. You know what I mean? He's got a. Yeah. Yep. Mood. So what do you guys think about this whole God's thing? I mean, everybody in the temple was pretty kind of mad about it. Like the whole thing up in the mountains. People are saying, like, there's new gods. That's I mean, that's crazy. I don't know if I even kind of believe it, but everyone seems to have a take on it. I was just, you know, it was quiet. He always regrets. He's like, wow, that's a big. I honestly, I wish that all religion was brought up in that way.

Like, Hey, what do you guys think of this whole God's thing? You know the thing you based your whole life on? How about that work for you? Anyway, I like steak. Who likes steak? I think I would. Sorry. No, go ahead. I was gonna say, come on, would like, lean back. And he wants to hear everyone else's take, because this is one thing he avoided asking people. I think runes can kind of pick up that Terry's a little bit anxious, so he's going to put his hand on his shoulder and pretty much take him through what he went through with Tamika that one time where he's going to, like, mimic breathing in and breathing out.

And he's going to do that until Terry copies him. And I don't know how many times he's going to have to do that for Terry to get that message. Here's the thing. You don't have a mouth. So I don't know if he would interpret it as breathing in so much as like, you're getting bigger and then smaller. So the first couple of times, it's like, oh, like, you're trying to scare off a bear. Like, you just think it'd be like that. And then, yeah, just it's like, oh, I get it. And he'd, like, he'd fall asleep. And then after that, after a moment, Tamika would be like, ah, there were people on the corners of Brightport preaching about it.

I don't know. That's above me. I was just trying to get by. And then I never really gave much credit to them anyways. You know, living in the docks in Brightport, you don't really see much around there. Not much evidence of a God, but, you know, it gave other people comfort and that's fine. And I see the powers that they have, the priests and the paladins, but, you know, whatever. New gods, old gods. Same thing to me. PETER Petrichor will, he's just kind of staring at the fire the whole time, just kind of going into mellow mode this whole time. Not really looking around anybody, but he's going to say, honestly, same for me.

You know, whether it's this God, that God, there's new gods, old gods. I've heard it all, too. I've heard a bunch of different things. He's going to reach down and just grab a bunch of, like, soil and dirt and bits and pieces. For me, he's going to fling it into the fire, not angrily, but just... And this is going to have all of the, you know, this is kind of a, not a desert, but it's a dry area, you know, sort of crossroads, whatever. It's going to have salts of, you know, that are in part of that, in that soil. And that's going to make the fire, you know, whoosh, just a little bit.

And it's going to have, if you've ever had a fireplace with logs and you've had salt or anything like that, you've seen different colors that come up with it. It's not just that red and white, it's got blues or greens that come up. It's just going to be beautiful for just a quick moment. It's going to be this magical little moment. You see that right there, that's the only gods I need right there. That's all I need. So, you know, don't make no difference to me. I've never... Okay, I've never met one of your kind before. You guys, like, you worship dirt? It's not so much about worshiping dirt.

It's about looking at what the dirt can make. He's going to just, whatever's left in his hand, he's going to sort of flick it and make a couple of little sparks fly up. You see that dirt and that flame makes something that's real beautiful. Look at it again. Go on. He's going to just wait for him to stare at it. What do you see, Terry? You see a fire probably. Yeah, fire. Watch this. Watch this. Just flick a little bit in there just for fun. See those colors? That was dirt a second ago. That was just dirt. Dirt you stand on. Dirt you walk on. You throw that into some fire.

You got something real magical there. That's the only God I really need to think about. I'm not saying that it don't matter at all to anybody else. That's not my point. But my kind, we look for the spaces between. We look for what they've left behind and what they've made for us. We don't look for them. Now, don't get me wrong. You want to go down there. You want to go be a real paladin of Kord, whoever. It doesn't matter if it's the paladin of Kord, paladin of John Jane, who doesn't matter. Paladin. You're a paladin. I don't care what the God's names are. But what you're going to be doing, you're not going to be just a paladin.

You could be a paladin fighting for something. You fighting for a God? You fighting for something that matters. Well, that right there is what matters to me. And he's going to fling a little bit more of that dirt. It's going to be a little bit confusing to Terry. There's no question about it, but he's kind of he's kind of getting to the end of his. Don't you get it? Kind of a speech. No, I mean, I think I get what you're saying. To be clear, I don't worship Kord. Well, you don't have to worship Kord to be a paladin is my understanding. Well, I mean, they frown upon it, but like, I'm just going to you know, I'm just going to tell them that I, you know.

You just keep that to yourself. I think that's probably you just keep you just follow your heart and keep your mouth shut, I guess. Like I said, to me, it's about like, OK, you imagine you're waking up and you know that you're part of these people to defend a city and OK, there was a dragon and they just went and fought the thing like no second thought. They just went and did it like. When you say you're a paladin of Kord, like that, that all comes with it, you know, that that that it's a bunch of stories and baggage and feelings and stuff, and it's all kind of tied up into that.

And I just think that's cooler than like. Selling stuff, you know. It's like every time someone would talk to me about it, they would talk about, oh, I was gouged at this store or that armor didn't work like it was supposed to or give me my money back. You know, and it's just like I didn't take anything from them, but like that's that's kind of what they associated me with, you know. I get it. You want to be part of a story. You want legacy. You want to be part of that. You want to be something that's old. You want to be something that's going to be going on for a long time after you're gone.

I get that. But you know what? Boss man over here is right. You got to go heal up. Then you go make your mark. Yeah, OK. I mean, that makes sense. I don't you know, I don't want to rush it and then, you know, die in the mountains, I guess that that would suck. So yeah, I'll stick with you guys for a while. And at the very least, I can make sure you guys are ready to go do what you got to do. Forgive me. How many like. I don't know that much about the Ravens, like how how many of you are there? Like what have you I guess what have you done? That was rude. I shouldn't have asked like that.

No, I mean, like. Like, what's the reputation like what you know what I mean? What are your stories? What did you know? I know you guys are new, but like, well, why do you want to be one? I guess. And it's kind of like looking like it's like. Can one sit up and he rolled down his sleeves, exposing all the different like, I guess, tattoos belonging to the different darker deities, the darker pantheon. I don't know if they exist anymore. I can't remember if they were wiped out or well, the new ones, what everybody all of them out, right? Like they replaced them.

Supposedly it's a period of flux. Let's call it. OK, so he still has like the ones with the the. Tattoos referring to darker deities, right? Like the different kinds, and he'll show them to everybody. It's just probably the first time anyone's seen them because I don't think he makes a habit of showing them. And he'll look at Terry as he holds his hands up and say, I joined the Ravens. Because I made a very, very serious string of mistakes and I don't want anyone else to make them. What I learned back then, I try and apply to the lessons that I will use going forward and stomp out anyone who worships these things the way I used to or anything that closely resembles these things.

That's why I joined. Roll them back down. And so that's really heavy to show those like, let me see if I can put it in context. So in this world, you're probably it's a real like a like a like degrees of Kevin Bacon ask type. And you know someone who knows someone who knew someone who tried to make a deal with a demon type of thing. You know what I mean? You don't have to travel that far to know of a story of someone who got real desperate. So half the time nothing happens or it's like, yeah, it's all bullshit. That type of thing. But there's got to be like, there's usually someone in your family, like a grandma or like something.

It's like, oh, no, don't don't fuck with that. I knew somebody who and then they, you know, it's always something terrible. A monkey Paul wish. So imagine, though, that these symbols are linked to demons that have actual power. So like it's not quite like in our world, it's like, okay, you have like pentagrams tattooed on you and like fucking Satan. Like, you know, it's like you just might be really into metal. It's almost a cross between that and like someone having an SS tattoo. It's like there's a lot of context and punch that comes with that. That's like, oh, you're either not a good person, which I'm probably going to leap to first or like you just said, it's like, oh, you're like you were fucked up and like you're trying to get better.

So like if you show those off to Terry Terry's like there's there's such a multitude of canvas of different tattoos from different demons that like you're going to recognize one or two of them. Right. So like there's probably going to be like a moment. It's like, oh, like, is this the part where you eat me? Like you probably hear all kinds of like, are you a cannibal? Are you a necromancer? Are you? You know what I mean? There's a lot that comes with that. So I mean, he's showing you describe. Yeah, exactly. And until you go like, oh, like like there's probably a bunch of stuff.

It's like, are you killing the vampires? Are you a vampire? Like there's a bunch of stuff that goes through his head and it's like, oh, OK, no, that's that sucks, man. Like it's almost like saying you're a recovering drug addict, but like for power. That's an act. That's an apt description, I think, of what he was. Yeah, so let's roll on the sleeves and then he'll still keep eye contact with Terry. Knowing the aforementioned spectrum of emotions that you described, K'Nan waits for a second and then looks him in the eye and then he'll say, don't worry. I don't talk to them anymore.

There's like. 30 questions that he starts to mouth and then stops. But you could tell like. He's stopping himself every time it's like, no, that would be rude, but I want to know. But oh, you know what I mean? Like it's that. That's a good question. So feel free to ask that. I didn't want to interrupt because it's such a cool character moment, but I don't know how runes would react to it because I don't know how like what the thedens know and care about the gods and demons like I don't like what's the vibe? So thedens are are more of a here's what we can see.

So here's what we believe type of race. Since they're all interconnected all the time, mentally, there's no need to like speak. There's no lying in their society. There's no because it's all just like you all just know they do share that small island with the Goliaths who are much more traditionalist and, you know, religious and even a little superstitious. So any contact you would have had with them, you would have picked up like religion as a concept from them. They don't like you in their brain, though. So like they're very much of is like you're trying to take my soul.

Like it's like they're they're very like we were trying to. Little Amish I hear a little Amish is like, don't take my picture with that thing. So like they're they're very much like, look, we're going to stick to our side of the island. You stick to yours, you fucking no mouth weirdos and like, you know, but any any time you would like, it's such a thing on the mainland that like the first time you see a church, it's like, what's that? And it's like, oh, you're going to see a lot of those. So I mean, like, it's just, you know. So, yeah, I think he probably has a basic understanding from asking to make a bunch of questions about churches and things.

But like demons does. Is that something that the thetans would know about? And like, would I recognize the symbols? I think you'd have like, OK, think of it like let's say you woke up today and had no concept of religion in the real world. And again, you're walking down the street and you see a church. It's like, what's that? That one question leads to so many other questions. Let's let's say you had a tomika to get let's say Susan was your tomika. It's like, what's that? It's like, well, that's a church. And it's like, what's that for? And it's like, oh, my God, where do I start?

I mean, there's so much that comes with that. So you'd probably start, you know, it's like, well, there's God, but that's if you believe in this religion, there's a bunch of other stuff. And it's like, ah, and it's like, do you tell them about the wars? Do you? So by the time you get to the devil or demons, it's like you've already shotgun blasted so much information that I feel like it would probably be the gods first. And then like demons are in there. But it's like, OK, so we don't have any firsthand like the Thedans specifically don't deal with demons the same way that like warlocks on the mainland do.

No, no, no. They definitely they look like demons, but they're just they're just folks. Right. So there's not many like warlocks Thedans. And if there are, they wouldn't be in the community. No, no, no. Because can you imagine they talk inside their mind? They talk in the whole community's mind. Yes. Yeah. It would be like an infection. Like, oh, God. Oh, no. Don't get any ideas. Think about all of them acting as like, save it, save it. Module idea. But like think of it that way. Like, OK, you can't have a drug problem in their society because like it would be an instant intervention.

It's like, what are you doing? Stop it. Like, you know what I mean? Like, yeah, I walked into a room with all my friends and I thought this is my intervention. OK, so with that context in mind, I do think that runes would reach into his bag and pull out the blue "please explain" rock and like gesture to the tattoos because he doesn't he sees that everyone else reacts to it and he doesn't quite get it. So he's going to pass that to Kanan if that's OK. Yeah, Kanan takes the rock and he kind of chuckles and then hands it back to runes and he will he'll keep the sleeves rolled down.

He's not going to roll him back up and he'll just kind of lean forward, similar to how I'm doing and I'll say I made a lot of mistakes when I was younger. He'll look at the group. I was a leader before, but not officially not given a title. I was the leader of my friends. And we coveted things. We wanted things. We believed we deserved these things. And we were tired of waiting for them. We didn't want to be like everybody else. We didn't want to work hard to earn it. We believed they should have already been ours. So we decided instead of asking for these gifts from one of them, we'd ask them all.

At first, it was very easy. Starting off making deals with the smaller ones wasn't too complicated. But it became very evident that I was the focus. I was the one they wanted to talk to. And he'll look at petrichor more than the rest because he feels like this next one is probably not. It's going to it's going to make him it's going to pay him a little differently. So he'll pause. I gave myself up to all of them. They put these things on me and took control of me. And to get what I wanted, I had to give them what they wanted. I gave them my friends, all of them.

And somehow. At the end, I was spared. The clergy locked me up. Studied me for I don't know how long. Poked me, prodded me. Read incantations, rituals. They got me back. I don't remember much of anything from the start to the end of it. That's probably why I wasn't executed. These markings are reminders. I can't get rid of them no matter how hard I try. And I've tried. I've tried very hard. The clergy tried to. That paints a picture. And he'll look at his hands, arms again, still covered. I dedicated my life. To getting rid of all of these things. And he'll look in the general direction of where the new the new Olympus or whatever we dubbed it, the new column of light is.

The new column of light is looking at general direction. Whatever they did, those new gods, new beings, whatever you want to call them. I'm pretty sure. It's been in my benefit. I don't know them. They probably don't know me or care. I see them as neutral. As long as they stay that way, I don't think I'll have a problem with them. And they'll look around the group. I can tell you with 100 percent honesty that I don't plan on doing anything of the sort ever again. You guys are the first group that I've worked or lived and lived or been with in a long time.

To be honest, I didn't trust myself. But meeting you all has definitely helped me turn a page. Plus, I can still use them sometimes for, you know, what they I assume did when I first got them. And I have complete control over them. Will it last? It kind of shrugs. I hope so. I really do. And he'll look to runes. And just say, is that everything? Runes is going to nod, which is kind of stilted for him. Like he has to move his whole body to do that, like kind of rocking back and forth more than nodding. And then he's going to stand up and move to sit down beside Kanan.

And he's going to take his arms and set them on both of set his hands on both of Kanan's arms and like squeeze softly. And then he's going to gently pull him into a hug. I'm going to lose five HP. What are you doing? Tamika probably already knows this, but runes is a hugger because it's one of the few ways he can like communicate wanting to comfort someone. So he's going to hug Kanan as long as he doesn't punch him in the throat for being gay or something. He's like, wow. Maybe Kanan has hatred in his heart. No, he just chugs a monster energy drink. He'll pat him on the back.

He'll like pat him on the back. Thanks, big guy. And it was like thinking about it. I don't think I've ever been this close to you before. And then his chest opens up and he just goes bleh. It's a fucking dreamcatcher. Does runes have a no homo rock that he can hand people and let them know that like it's... He only has a full homo rock. It's the rainbow one and it's the one that gives people to let them know that everything he does is full homo. Okay. How's about we pick things up the next day? Wait, how did Terry react to all that? I need to know. Honestly, he will be asking you questions at some point.

That's fine. Like that seemed like the wrong time. It's like, oh yeah, no, that's not the right time, but I need to know. And petricorn to make. I want to know how everyone reacts. Like, would you get out of that? I want to know. Was it like money? It sounds like there's always a thing. It's like, I want this. You know what I mean? Whatever. He got the raw end of every raw end of every deal ever made. It's probably what he got. I think if at the end of all of that, just before we wake up the next day, I think petricorps there probably would have been a long pause at some point after that.

But petricorps would have just gotten up and it's a dog and started to walk over, kind of like heading over to wherever he's going to lay down and go to sleep. And he's just going to say, well, I'm exhausted. And as he walks by, he's going to walk behind Kanan and he would just sort of pat him on the shoulder, just like... Night, y'all. And that's all. He's not going to really acknowledge it. Just kind of let it go. You guys are so close to Durn Hollow, so let's do this. I need either Jasper, Susan or Bree to give me a D6 travel die. That's going to be the rest of it.

That's all it's going to be to get you there. Now, we're going to get you to the city no matter what. The travel die is for what happens when you get to the city. Is it a good thing? Is it a bad thing? What's the general nature of you walking into Durn Hollow? Durn Hollow can be an interesting place. It is... Well, we'll get to it. But I'm sure Tree Man and Walking Skeleton Nightmare are going to fit right in and everyone's going to be super cool about it. Yeah. And the recovering demon man and... That's right. That's not. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Furry girl is going to be that's someone's thing in Durn Hollow.

She's going to be okay. She's going to get all the brothels are going to be trying to get her. Yeah. No, thanks. But I appreciate that. I mean, if you're looking for a career change, there's recruiters. Durn Hollow is supposed to be. It's a really difficult thing to kind of find a real world equivalent, the tattoo thing. And it's like, I don't want to jump right to like Nazi memorabilia, but it's got to be something that invokes a certain emotion when you see that. So I jump right to American History X. You just haven't got those lasered off yet. You know what I mean?

And it's like, wow, that's not me. But at first sight, you're going to be like, oh, demon man. And you know what I mean? There's a lot of shit that comes with that. So it's tough. But we're stalling. Who wants to be the person who wrote? Because here's the thing. Everyone's going to get a chance. So whoever doesn't roll this time is in the running for the next time. Alex choose. Delegating. Yeah. I mean, we still blame you. You got to go, Susan. It's got to be Susan. I mean, I did it last round, but OK. Last game. Go for it. OK. Did that count? That was the first session.

Oh, OK. Fine. So yes, but I'll do it. I'm fine. Should we explain that joke or are we just going to cut it out? It's going to be confusing. Cut this part, Jason. Got it. It says we're cutting this part, Jason? Oh, yeah. This is just like the first witch fight never happened. Woo hoo. Alternate dimension. It's also on the pile of unused stuff. Oh, here, in case you're having trouble sinking. There you go. You're welcome. Thank you. Yeah, I'll do it. I'll do. I'll take the roll. Is anyone seeing Susan's stuff not match up with her lips? Oh, yeah. A little bit stopped. And then it started a little bit, but I figure it'll probably work out in the final thing, hopefully.

Hopefully. Yeah, keep going. Start saying something. OK, I'm about to roll a d6. Totally fine. OK, fine. Good. Then it's just OK. Just want to make sure. OK. OK, I'm going to roll it. Roll it. Oh, no. Oh, see, now we can blame Alex because he chose you. Yes. I would also. Oh, yeah, I'll take the blame. That's fine. But also, I like to put on this table is so mean that it did. Like the one that in for the dice. Yes. Wild, absolutely wild. Oh, man, water. So that's a one for anyone who's listening at home. Oh, hey, did I mention I rolled the first session? Does someone else want to take this one?

So as you guys make it to Dern Hollow, it's it's it's late in the third day. And you guys are pretty much exhausted from traveling. You've been eating road food for the last few days, lots of dried meats and stuff like that, unless you guys go hunting, which, you know what I mean? There's really that's usually for longer trips. But man, it just you kind of like at the end of the day, it's like, oh, God, I want to sleep in a bed. You know what I mean? Like, it's just if you've ever taken a road trip, it's like that. But on foot, which probably sucks even more.

And as you guys get to that, there's this little there's this little archway with a swinging like sign. It's not a there's no walls around Dern Hall or anything like that. But as you guys kind of cross the threshold, most of these most of these businesses are still opening. They're still open. The two main brothels in town, which is the Honest Harlot and Cherry Blossom Heaven. So those two places are they're open and they're always kind of competing with each other, right? It's a real Deadwood type of situation they got going on. And as you guys get there, you're kind of taking in the scenery.

It's like, OK, where are we going to stay for the night? What's going to go, you know, three people on the other end of the street here, there's kind of a boardwalk area and you can hear a bunch of like yelling and stuff like that. And then you're going to hear glass breaking. Oh, and it's not coming from either of the brothels. This is like down the street a bit. And you're going to see figures like shadowy figures because they're out of the street lights and stuff, but they are clearly accosting somebody. And this person is screaming. But just for a second, it's going to kind of sound like like there's screaming and then liquid.

Oh, no. And I think that's a good time for us to stop. I'm just stabbed in the lung. Jesus Christ. Imagine someone drowning in a barrel, but like stabbed in the lung works, too. Oh, maybe it was just a barrel that was just right. Brielle talking barrel had a comment. Maybe maybe the bottom for apples, you know, it's just some old times fun. I think it's because you brought up you literally just said the name Deadwood. I don't know why Deadwood. I can never remember the name of it. I watched the whole thing with Jason, but like you brought it up and I immediately pictured someone just getting dunked in a barrel because that happened a lot in Deadwood.

There's more stabbings in Deadwood than drowning in a barrel. Swear to himself stabbed how many people? Oh, my God. He would send his buddy, usually Dan. Yeah, Dan. Dan. I thought I was supposed to be reformed and like, I mean, it doesn't mean there's no crime. There's slightly less slavery. Well, there's a lot less slavery. But you know, if you roll into town and then roll one into town, like, you know, things happen. It's all Susan's fault. And Alex's. Yeah, Susan and Alex for sure did this to us. Oh, don't do this. It was our brave leader who told the person who had already rolled to roll just say.

Exactly. That's what you're doing. You're blaming Jason. Ah, yeah. It sounds like every time I have a choice, I'm just going to pick Susan. Well, everybody stick around, because when we get back from this short break, we're going to play a trivia game and we're going to see which one of these four cast members is the most adult by quizzing them. From a list of 300 things that all adults should know, apparently, according to this quiz. So don't go anywhere. We'll be right back. Welcome back, everybody. Here's how this is going to work. We're going to throw 15 minutes up on the clock and I'll keep you abreast of the time.

Don't worry. But what we're going to do is we're going to start with Alex and we're just going to keep going around and around the table. And you guys call out a number between one and 300. Obviously, no repeats. That's cheating. But I ask you the question that corresponds with that number and you either know it or you don't. You're allowed to make a guess, but you get about six or seven seconds before I start. Absolutely horrible. Put pressure on you. And if I hear typing, you're done. You're out of here. I know you guys wouldn't cheat. No muting though. That's cheating.

Question before we get started. Should we hit 15 minutes? Are we going to finish that round? Yes. Okay, cool. It would bother me. I know why I have done that, because then if somebody will, let's say, get ahead and then they stall. I mean, we got to punish that person. That's true. Like Jamie. Jamie is a big fat cheater. And no, Jamie didn't do that. Jamie didn't do that. Jamie would never. She can't type fast enough. I love you, Jamie. Please. If you saw this, I'm sorry. It's not because of her like spirit or good nature or anything. Jamie and Susan share that beautiful, happy spirit that I love and wish I could have.

But Susan's a big fat cheater. We do agree. Okay. That's between Susan and Jasper. That's so are we ready? By the way, everyone's competing for an edge in the next session. You're going to get a little bonus. Would you like to know what you're competing for? Yes, please. Yes, sir. Well, in Cortex Prime, you all start with one plot point. At the beginning of the session, the winner will start with three. Okay. It's like getting three get out of jail free cards right at the top of the session. You're basically untouchable. You're a God. Okay. Okay. Well, let's can't wait to win this.

I'm going to fail. I suck at things like this. Yeah. Well, again, the theme of this week's trivia is things every adult should know. We're not adults. So I'm 41 and I'm never going to feel like an adult. Fucking bills I pay. How many? So everybody out there in the chat right now, place your bets on who you think is the most knowledgeable. Jasper. All of you could be my children, and I guarantee I'm going to lose. You know what's weird is, like, you and I are almost the same age, and you still feel more fatherly than me, probably because you are a dad. There's that wisdom coming off of you.

I got probably knows I got pushed into it. Jason, Jason puts off the cool uncle vibes every time we come over, though, every time we go to your house, though, for sure. Hey, kids want to play a video game or something? That's more uncle who lures you into a basement. I know efficient chips place that they say 10 minutes to no matter what you order. That's more. They let you down, but 15 minutes. So you motherfucker, what's the order? So Alex goes first. Then who's next? I got to know this. I'm waiting. Jasper, Susan and Bree. Alex, Jasper, Susan and Bree got 15 minutes on the clock.

Are we ready? I think you're the double dare music. Ready? Oh, man. Go, Alex, give me a number. 69, a monster broke. Who is the owner of Microsoft? Bill Gates. Bill Gates, baby. That's 100% means that Jamie chose 69 first. I can either confirm. I buzzed in. I'm done next. Nice. One for Alex. Jasper 247. 247. Any significance to that number? Nope. Just made it up. Okay. Wow. How many people did Jesus feed with five loaves of bread and two fish? Things every adult should know. I'm going to argue that's not something every adult needs to know. I'm going to say I'm sorry.

I know the story. I'm going to say 300 plus. 300. 300 plus. 5,000 men. They're very specific when they say men. No women got fed that day. Okay. Okay. I'm going to take that point. That's okay. Jeez. Susan. 17. 17 name the largest dam in the world. Hoover Dam. Oh, we were looking for the three gorges dam. I have no idea where that is. Bri. 666. That's between one and 300. I thought it was between one and 800 for some reason. 238. What is the 30th element in the periodic table? Zinc. We were looking for Zinc. You know what, Alex? Ah, of course. You named an element. I wouldn't be able to.

Let's go. I'm not even positive. 169. 169. Who is the author of the Harry Potter series? Oh, fuck you. Go. He's team leader. Jasper. 14. 14. Oh, wow. Okay. When did Princess Diana die? Looking for an exact date. Oh, exact date. Not a year. Oh, my God. April 12th, 1982. August 31st, 1997. Okay. 200. Okay. We're seeing that all these questions are not made equally. You're choosing the best ones for Alex. Which country has the largest area of land? Oh, really? We're really gonna. Oh, I feel like this is a trick question, but Russia. Sadly, it's Russia. So we're gonna give Susan a point and then take it away because she supports Russia.

So let's get just kidding. Hi. Four. Four. Oh, God. What is the relationship between Sebastian and Viola in the 12th night? Were those words? Now you're not allowed to ask me a question. Is that your final answer? Okay. They were either siblings or lovers, because those are the only two relationships that a man and a woman can have in literature. I was about to say, lovers? They were brother and sister. You. Alex. Two 69. You know what? Okay, man, if it's another easy one, I'll tell myself who is the third president of America. Oh, my God. Sam and I were talking about this the other day.

I believe it was John Adams. Thomas Jefferson. I always flip them. It was second chance later than I would have done. We got just under 10 minutes left. Oh, my God. 57. 57. 69. But you don't care about her. Wow. Who firstly used the word hello on the telephone? Celina Ritchie. You're distracting me. That's right. It was. Telephone. I don't know. I don't know.
