We... There's a lot to take care of. Now, usually when I say that something's on fire or one of you is broken or falling or something is happening. But this is one of the few times where you're kind of touching home base. Like this is the first time since you left that I think you're gonna get a full night's sleep and everything. This time of year, the water's pretty low and it is just three or four solid inches of wet mud. Like you're just, you know, so it's unpleasant, but not dangerous, right? You like, you know, petrichor would not be, coming from a swamp, it probably wouldn't even register, he wouldn't even clock it. So from Overdale, you have run into borderline cult members. You have watched a child murder someone. You were recounting that before the session. You dealt with vampires and the whole city thing. Like it's been a lot. Oh yeah, the bird that almost ate you and crossing the divide.

And it's like, oh man, it's been a lot. So you're exhausted. You're beat up. What do you, what's the first thing you want to do? Like Overdale is in your crosshairs. You see it over the hill. You're coming down from these, the hilltops of the scar and you're still, you're cold, you're wet. You're exhausted. You're beat up, covered in scrapes and bruises. Some of you more than that. Some of you are missing appendages. So like, I would imagine it's very quiet and it's just like the almost limping, like just kind of like getting there and you see the lights from the city and it's gotta be almost overwhelming, right?

Like that sense of like, okay, that's safety. That's a big city. Like that's where we come from. That's it. Yeah, I think, I mean, K'naan's mind is home. He's going to go home. Whatever home is, you know, he's going there. That's it, beeline. Yeah, straight to the barracks. Yeah, I was going to say, I think Tamika and Rune were barracks only. Like they don't really have a home in Overdale 'cause we're initially from somewhere else. And shower, Jeff only showers. Yeah. Yeah. Petrichor is, if there's, where's the, by the way, where's the White Ravens encampment in, or place within Overdale?

I mean, it's not just the city. Is there a particular place for this? Is it outside of Overdale? Yeah, how about I bring up a map, baby? Cool. Yeah, exciting. I would say that Petrichor, there's probably a lot of quiet once we get close to Overdale. Everybody knows where they're going. It's just more like, I'll see y'all tomorrow, you know, kind of the thing. See y'all later today. Yeah, it's like, yeah, see you in a bit. Petrichor would just tell everybody he's going to head to the mess hall and just get something, just something comfortable to eat. K'Nan would tell him like, "Hey, he looks at Dog, and Dog probably, she probably looks up at him, panting, you can see the even more exaggerated canine teeth now." Yes.

And he'll look and say, "Hey, Petrichor." He'll look at Dog and go back to Petrichor, be very careful with Dog. She's a good girl. And he says it's loud on purpose. Yeah. But she's now could be potentially a bitey girl. He says that kind of like grimacing, like through his teeth, like, just keep an eye on her. Yeah, you know, Dog's always been a little bit, you know, could eat a little, some bones off the ground and that kind of thing. Always thought about getting the muzzle anyway, but maybe now's the time. He shrugs, 'cause, "As your dog, I'm not gonna make choices for you, man." And like, as he's like shrugs, he'll shrug and you hear like a crack.

He's like, "Mm-hmm." (chuckling) Terry would kind of, "Where do I go?" No, you're coming with me, Terry. No, we're gonna get you something to eat, get you cleaned up, gonna get you in the barracks. You're home for now. He's dead. Like, it's just, it's like, can I just sleep in a bed, please? I don't have money now on me. And I just, just please, just let me, yeah. Well, well, well, Terry, welcome to the life of the 98%. (laughter) Tamiya's gonna look to runes and be like, "I'm gonna bathe, I feel gross. I don't even think I'm gonna meet up with you guys in the mess hall, I'm probably gonna pass out." Right after, so.

Shit, it's Dragon Con. Yeah. Fourth day Dragon Con. (laughter) This is literally it, you're right. Runes would probably nod and then point to the barracks and kind of like, I'll meet you there fashion. And he will go to the mess hall, but he's gonna grab something and then go back to the barracks, 'cause. Oh, okay. You know how when people are like really close and they could like read each other's body, like probably you and Jason, like there's even a moment where we don't even have to say anything and Tamika hands over her bag to runes because he's probably gonna take it to the barracks for them and like.

Yeah, and he'll grab food for us both and then we'll meet up back at the barracks for food. It's great. We got this. How about we get a long rest in, how about that? This has gotta be. I will take it. I think, so okay, so. I would dare say that this is one of those days where like you sleep until noon at least, right? Like it's just like the sun comes up. Hours and hours. Like there are people training outside and like no one touches you. They could see the state you're in, but there's gotta be like some new recruits who are like, I think that guy's dead. I'm not gonna touch him.

Like I'll tell somebody that like, like that filthy hobo over there is definitely expired. I think. So like, I would say like noon, one o'clock, whatever the equivalent is. Like who, okay, who is in the barracks? Is it everyone or just like, are you guys spread out? Or are you guys like. I don't know if I have, I assumed I had a place to stay, but if it's the barracks, I would be in the barracks. I leave it to you. - You tell me, buddy, it's your character. - Yeah, you're the one who. - I don't think Kanaka would afford. I mean, the rental market in Overton right now.

- Oh. - Yeah. Big city's crazy. - Straight by the bay? - It's in demand, there's no act of wars. Like, you know, it's a seller. - It's like 30% less racism. - So yeah, it's a seller's market, right? So I would assume when he says he'll go home, he has somewhere in the barracks, you know? He's got a book on it. - Also, your team leader, man, don't. It would be gauche for you to stay in a hotel while everyone else crashes on the complex. Maybe they have a curtain that comes through. - My rank comes with one of those, with a dollar store privacy screen. - Which is like, what they do in a hospital between beds, right, is not. - Yeah. - Yeah. - But hey. - Yeah, I think we'd probably all just end up in the barracks. Like, you know, I'm like, the mess hall is just simply, I gotta have something that's not rations and eating berries off the ground or whatever. - Yeah, there's- - But then pass out. - There's definitely like a buffet style. Like you'll smell like potatoes, bacon, eggs and stuff like that.

Like, and it's one of those things where usually it's like, hey, we gotta make sure everyone eats, but like, whatever you see them spooning or tonging with the bacon, it's like more, more. Like just give me carbs. Like, what? - We were already planning on. - Sure, but it became, it went from turning into like, that movie "Rat Race" where it's like, it's a nice fun, goofy into like, oh shit, this is the Odyssey now. There's demons on our boat. - If memory serves, you weren't the one who grabbed the fucking wheel of that elven ship and steered it directly into some merges.

- Like, my presence, my presence created that. And then on the other group, the gray, the gray group. - The one you weren't in charge of. - I can't, but still curse, still curse. And now this one, we went through the fucking, we went through the gauntlet on this one. This was like- - Yeah, this one's your fault. Like, I'm not like, told, no, no. (laughing) Look, the important thing is, you're home, and you're gonna feel a hand eventually. Just like, if you aren't awake, just kind of like, just kind of like gently touch you. Like, just kind of like shake your shoulder.

It's like, hey. Hey. - He just kind of stiffens up. Hello, now, hi. - Poe's gonna be like, trying to like gingerly crouch down and like not scare you. And just kind of like, you know how you don't like get this close to someone's face, like they're gonna murder you like Jameson did me? Like, you know, you kind of hover, you're like, hey, you know, that type of thing. So I had someone check on you guys to make sure you were all alive. And then once we saw you were alive, we just kind of let you, I told everybody to just leave you alone, let you sleep. - Are you okay?

- He kind of, now he sits up. His back cracks, oh, that feels good. Yeah, I feel better. I mean, it was a little rough out there and that's an understatement. Have you talked to anybody else? I mean, the rest of the team, I assume they're either still sleeping or up, chowing down because we didn't have a lot of opportunities for either chowing down or sleeping out there. - No, I was just about to gather everyone else. Who is that? And he's gonna point over to the one eyed man sleeping in one of the beds. - He just turns back, oh, that's Terry. Like casually like, that's Terry.

- Duh. - Who the fuck is Terry? I didn't send you out with the Terry. I'm not out of it. I didn't do that. - Okay. - No, there's a guy, I mean, this guy's a legend. We picked him up along the way and he has been, well, if it wasn't for him, there would have been at least three separate instances in which everyone would have been killed. So I figured the least we could do for him is help him on his quest, which is to get somewhere and give him a little bit of rest and food on the way there. - Was he in that bad of shape when you picked him up or did that happen?

- Canon bites his mouth like his bottom lip. He was a, no, he was not like that when we picked him up. He was actually in better shape. And I'm sad to say that there was some bad decision making on my behalf, which got us into some pretty shitty places and situations, but hey, it made him a stronger man for it. - All right. I got, okay, one more question and then I'm gonna let you gather your team and we can debrief after everyone's up and about. Did you make it to Donhurst? 'Cause like you're back pretty quick, all things considered. - It's a complicated answer, Poe.

We did make it to Donhurst, yes. We made contact with the people there and it was way different than what was initially said on paper. Let's put it like that. Some things were right, but they were just missing some key pieces of information there. We'll tell you all about it in the debriefing, if that's okay. - Yeah, no, yeah. And breakfast or brunch or whatever. - He's not sleeping. He's like, he kind of stretches up a little bit. He looks at Terry, he's like, "I'll get Terry last. Let the guy sleep a little bit longer." And he will go get, first and foremost, Petrichor and then Tamika and runes afterwards. And then once he's got everybody, he'll come back for Terry, let him rest just a little bit longer. - Petrichor would, whenever Terry is starting to get roused, he'll help him over to the shower, show him around, right?

It's like, over here, we got you some, there's some, you're gonna need some new clothes, Terry, number one. We're also gonna get you something to sort of cover up some of the, well, he's gonna sort of point to his face and just be like, you know, just to make yourself presentable and then go get you some food, go get you some real good food. Some of the best, best food you're gonna find in this area is Overdale, number one. And the barracks are not as good as that, but it's gonna be all right. Look, you're in the best situation. Some of Poe's best friends have one eye.

So like, you're gonna have options. Like, he got some character. - You're the guy from "Airwolf." Does anyone remember the show "Airwolf?" Like, no one? - Yeah, yeah, yeah. - Okay, Jasper does. - Yeah, yeah, yeah. - It's about a super helicopter. It's basically like "Night Rider," but it's a helicopter. - Oh, okay. - It's a helicopter, right? - Clearly early '80s, very clearly. - Oh God, yeah, it's like mid-80s as fuck, but it's got a banger theme song. And there was a guy who had glasses, but one of his glasses were just like, with his lenses are just dark.

And I'm like, just wear a monocle. I think I'd be cooler. But like, I don't know, maybe that was too German for the time. I don't know. The point is, you're gonna get fed. You're gonna get a shower. So let's put things at like 4 p.m. where you guys are just getting your shit together and it like, whatever the equivalent, whatever the fantasy equivalent of ibuprofen, you're just chugging it, right? - Willowlark. - Yeah, it's like little, I'd say it's little capsules of like, salt blessed with like the most minute amount of healing magic that's even available.

- Oh, restoration magic. - Yeah, like a small amount. Like it's not enough to really carry. - You're just going to the apothecary and going, eh, eh, eh, eh. - Like just everything's sore. Just, yeah. 'Cause, probably not going to rush you, but at the same time, it's like, what the fuck happened? Like, there's gotta be like a, yeah. - I mean, I think we tell them like first and foremost, 'cause it was, I mean, we just like- - We're still on a mission. I mean, we're not back from vacation. It's like, no, we gotta go. This protocol says. - We just like, we just destroyed something in an alternate dimension. Like, yeah, I think we're gonna talk about it.

I think that falls on the group leader to start, but like for color commentary, you gotta, you know. - Well. I would tell him first and foremost, I'd say Po. And then it's gonna turn into this very comical breakdown where I'm gonna have, if she's okay with it, I'm gonna have Tamika act out some of the scenes that happened to us.

I feel like she'd be the most animated in terms of like displaying things. - I was gonna say there'd probably be even like at some point as she has this new mastery over her magic, and then she's also kind of showing off to the boss. She'd be like, here's some mirror images and here's like illusionary figures. So aid and assist in this retelling. - So it's like a fantasy body cam footage almost. Like you guys, here's my shit. - Following through the whole after getting beat up by the racist. - I see, I see. - Start off with meeting Terry, first and foremost, and how he wanted to reach, not Esterholt, was it, was it Esterholt?

I forget. - Yeah, Esterholt. - Yeah, Esterholt was- - Where the school of cord is or the school of the, whatever the deity is called now. - It's a period of flux. - Yeah. Was it? What'd you say? - It's a period of flux right now. - Okay. - There are some people who are- - Paladin of justice, I guess would be the best description. - Paladin. - Yeah, yeah. - Paladin school. - Paladin academy. - Yeah. He wants passage there, so we agreed to take him with us. Yeah, sure, why not? And then things got a little hairy. We ended up, and correct me if I'm wrong guys, please, 'cause it's been a long time, but we ended up in Durnhollow.

I do remember going to Durnhollow and then we tried to help. - There was a murdered tiefling. - It was murdered by a child. We tried to apprehend his child. He led us to a den of like-minded individuals. - Former Overwatch. - To himself. I think that's right, former Overwatch, which I guess that'd be really important for Po, right? 'Cause these guys are sick. - Yeah, it's very important. - Yeah, yeah. - Yeah. - These guys were- - It's like, God damn, I thought we were done with that. Like just- - And then let them go, hey- - That's what I say every morning when I leave the house.

- They were also very well equipped, if I remember correctly. These guys were not fucking around. These guys were being serious and we got lucky. They didn't just outright kill us and they threw us into a hole where we broke our limbs and they let us die. But Dog and Terry saved us, if I remember correctly. They kind of, they got us out of the mess. - And he would definitely have questions. It's like, where are they? Where were they going? Like that, should we be worried? Should we keep an eye? Like what, like, you know. - If part of the presentation to me would be rolling out a map and be like, I'm marketed on the map.

Here's where they are, just north of Overdale. (laughs) Overdale, just north of Dernhalle, I'm sorry. - Next part he would talk about would be the, going from there to, moving eastwards, going through the, I think we went to the Deadwood, right? We went through, where the hell did we go through? - Yeah. - Yeah. - 'Cause it was, yeah. There was a rock that tried to kill us. Rock, R-O-C, being the bird, a massive bird of prey, which is like a murderous, it had a name, right? It had a different name. - Oh, it was a quick one. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, you guys ran into, so like this would be, like, this is the goal, we ran into Gritty.

Like it would be like, it had a singular name. It's like, oh shit, Gritty. So while you're slipping in, it's like, oh yeah, and this legendary bird, it's like, fucking what? Like you, like, man, okay, you haven't even reached the city in this story yet, so okay. - Tell 'em about the legendary cryptid and how we didn't do anything to it. We just ran from it because it was destroying trees. And then how we did get into the deadwood, and then we got attacked by some sort of nightmare creature that attacked our minds, which was fantastic. - I thought I learned how to cast fireball.

- She did, she did. And once we managed to deal with that, no, no, so I'll hold it to you. He's gonna turn to the meagre. No, no, please interject if you got some. I'm totally for it. - Okay. - Moving along, we went, we finally reached the city. - Oh, there were weird mirrors. - Yeah, there were the mirrors. I keep thinking about that. - The mirrors. - Just put a pin on it, 'cause I don't think that's really relevant. - But I do dream of it every night. - But I think about it too. We should go back. - Something's pulling us to go back to these mirrors that we're talking about, and we can't explain it.

And he like pauses for a second, gives him a deadpan face. Anyways, then we move on, and we almost reached the outside of the city, and gave it a knock, and nobody answered. And then, Kanaan will go into detail about how during the daytime, the city seemed dead, and how as they finally set foot in the city, and were walking past buildings, residences, storefronts, et cetera, there were figures in the shadows, red eyes, kind of analyzing them, making weird noises, and then the population of the city has been entirely converted to vampires, and how there are two classes of vampires from what we saw, what we analyzed, and what we were told by one vampire who actually managed to aid us a little bit.

There are the ferals and the non-ferals, and there are way more ferals than there are non-ferals. I forget the name of the vampire, and I'm so sorry, Jason. - Dexter. - Dexter, thank you. Dexter and his undead poodle helped us get into the castle, where we were to meet with the leader of the vampires, a one Ripley, if I'm not mistaken. That meeting never took place, because when we got into the castle keep, et cetera, we entered through an underground dungeon, which there were non-feral vampires, or some sort of group of cultists performing a ritual in which they were lifting a coffin out of the ground.

And then he's gonna pause, because in his mind, he's thinking about his patron, telling him, "Hey, get rid of that thing." His patron basically guiding him the whole time there, and he's gonna snap back to, "Now, look at Tamika for a second," and then back to Po. My patron requested that we stop them from performing this ritual, and I know, he puts his hand up, I know our mission was to just do reconnaissance and make contact with the leadership, but leadership for that city was unavailable/incapacitated. So I took it upon myself to lead the team and stop this ritual from happening.

And we all agreed. It seemed like it was gonna do something real bad. It didn't seem good, right? And then she's gonna look to Petrichor and Runez, right? Right? Runez's going to nod. So Petrichor is, so wait, okay. It was a single coffin they're pulling up out. Oh, it was a big coffin. Runez is gonna put his arms out and like, big coffin. Right, big. Okay, if that many people are working on one thing, yeah, no, to hell with that. There's no good that can come from that, not that one. Okay, but that didn't happen, right? You said that you had to put a stop to it.

So that didn't, nothing came of that, right? Yeah, we looked at a group. Yeah, we stopped it for the most part. Like, there was another group. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You remember how I said I learned fireball? I learned acid fireball too. So there was these chains bringing it up and I dropped it. Yeah, sorry. Then she gets a little small again. Oh, good. There was another group of adventurers there that were brought for a similar reason to stop something from occurring there as well. And the mastermind behind all of this, or at least a main pivotal figure, was this woman who was possessed by a demon.

And we had to join forces with this other group and fight this possessed woman in essentially what was described as some sort of like alternate world, not here, not there, in between places. It was very strange, but it was what my patron had asked us to do, fight them in that location. And we won, because we're here. The other group helped us tremendously. We did our best, including our friend Terry here. And the demon was pushed out of the woman's body and the woman from last I saw was alive, just in need of medical attention. And her partner helped her up and took her away.

There's other personal issues that myself and Tamika had to deal with with the patron, but that's for our off time. That's not for raven business. Hold on, hold on. Okay, okay. I got way more questions about this, but okay. Speaking from experience, if you guys have something going on and it's important, just out with it, 'cause things get out of hand, trust me. Just... Well, the patron asked us to kill the woman with the demon inside of her, just to be sure, but we refused and instead we removed the demon from the woman. And he was... And yeah, the reason why I'm involved is I almost, there was...

Something bad happened and I needed his patron's help. So it became my patron for not very long, few hours. And then I quit. (laughing) So everything's going great. We made it home, just in time for the Hot Pockets. So, okay. Obviously things deteriorated pretty rapidly 'cause the reports we had were only a few weeks old. So they must've run completely out of blood or were cut off from their supply. Yeah, about that. You see a bunch of flinches. (laughing) Yeah, Petrichor can think about it. They've got... He's really having a hard time 'cause it's all his mind's just going crazy with it.

They have people in cupboards just so they can have the blood. They have people in cages, upon cages, upon cages so they can just have the blood. It's not okay. And he's just gonna leave it at that. So there's still living people in the city. If you call it that. Yeah. Yeah, a little bit. Shits. Okay. There wasn't a whole lot to negotiate with no matter who we found, I'll be honest with you. I don't care if leadership was indisposed or not. I don't know what we could have even done. I'm surprised we're even here. Yeah. We wanted to help them, but we're just us, you know?

And it was a whole city, but they're in bad shape, Mr. Poe. All right. You never even found the leader. There's no guarantee that that guy's still alive. He was like- He is in charge, he's in charge of nothing, right? There's no, everyone's feral, except for one vampire you said you met? Yeah, one guy. Yeah, but I think the leader was like, we saw it, we did see him. He was like strung up. He was part of that ritual they were doing to get the confidentiality grounds. Yeah, one of the leaders from the other group seemed really mad about him. Yeah. So. Okay. All right, so.

I don't know who said that, but it wasn't me. Oh yeah, sorry, I forgot. (all laughing) Probably, sounds like Jamica. Yeah. Let's assume he lost control of the situation, right? I mean- I wouldn't say we even, I don't think the situation was controllable, to be honest, sir. It was already gone to hell before we even knocked on that gate. All right, we have two new problems. I don't know if you've noticed, but it's been dark for almost 48 hours now, and we're still looking into that. I think that we probably just assumed that we napped. Yeah. (all laughing) So that is news to all of us.

Yeah. When it's like, what? And then looks to the team like, I think they all just look outside. Holy shit. Yeah. Actually, it's not a terrible thing. Come on up, and he's gonna do Pat on his lap. Come on. Come on up. Oh yeah, Doggo. And Doggo, come on up. And he's a good girl. He's gonna lift up, just so you can see a fang. Just a little bit, just like, you know, the checkin' teeth. He's gonna say, not a bad thing, it's not outside, 'cause we had a little bit of a incident. He's gonna point. Poe's not a guy who curses too often. He will, but it's gotta be something extreme.

So like, there's the second real time in the conversation, is your dog a fucking vampire? Well, I mean, yeah, but the good news, there's bad news, yeah. But the good news is, is that that's what saved her life. So she's gonna be okay, but that's another thing I needed to ask about was a muzzle. See if we could get something made, you know? Well, yeah, you got, okay. Fuck, okay, you have to feed her if you're gonna keep her. Yeah, we got some logistics. Look, man, I don't mean to be insensitive. Do you have blood? I mean, sure, I can, we'll figure it out. Listen, it's only been about 30 minutes since we woke up.

So, you know, that's a good question. We got a lot to figure out here. There's some logistics, but I think we got a lot of logistics. This is just a minor one. He's not wrong. I'm gonna, okay, I'm gonna level with you. That is like number four on the list of things to deal with. Gods, vampires, Overwatch racists, dog. You know, like, I feel like, yeah. That's a good order, actually. Thank you, I thought so. I really thought about it. Okay, look, in any realistic situation, he would run it up the chain. It's like, hey, we need more resources allocated. Like, I think this, but more importantly, I think he would obviously want you guys to like, hey, take a mental health day or two, like go, that guy's missing parts.

Like go get that sorted and pass along that very valuable in the field knowledge you guys have had because in the two weeks or three weeks you've been gone, good golly, Miss Molly, things have happened. And you can send it, like you could give the people who have only done pushups and target practice and stuff. It's like, hey guys, like just whatever I want to, I would love to go to your characters and see what knowledge they would want to pass on. You know what I mean? Like, I'd love to do that. And then we can kind of wrap it up. I think I have an idea for it, but yeah.

- That sounds cool, I like that. It's a nice bow, I think. Sorry, Susan, you're using something. - No, mine's kind of silly. I'm just, how much in-game time has passed? - Not enough. We're gonna work on that in the new- - Only because we went from level one to level 10 in two weeks. We've slept some shit. - We really went through it, okay? - That's true. - That's true, right. - We went through some crazy shit. - I know we went through some crazy shit. - We're like the end of Jurassic Park, and Paul was the guy in the white suit in the helicopter. You know? - Oh my God.

- Can you imagine that from like, Paul's perspective, us leaving these like, green gills, like, you know, these little scrappy kids coming back, like battle, warping, like- - Just on your chin and shit. (all laughing) - Way to go. - With a vampire dog and a one-eyed man. (all laughing) - Oh yeah, the one-eyed stranger. - Yeah. - Yeah. - I love how- - You don't even know he had two eyes when we met him. That's how out of the loop he is. - Plus, like, when he talks, he's like, this guy's voice doesn't match who he is physically. - No. - 'Cause he hasn't grown into that yet.

It's very- (all laughing) - Hey, I'm Terry Guy. It's like, what? That's not how you talk. Don't laugh. - No. - No, no, no. - So, Poe's gonna listen to all this. And it's obviously a lot to take in, right? It's... It could have very easily turned into a situation like he had previous, where this was supposed to be just you reaching out, just you making contact, maybe like getting some peace treaty stuff started. And what you walked into were feral vampires and mystical lich fights with you suck you by and ink you by and it's like a whole bunch of stuff out of your pay grade.

And you guys come back, we joked about it in the pre-show, but you guys come back level 10, grizzled, after like two or three weeks on the road. It's like, wow. Like just, you know, you've seen a lot, right? So I think two thoughts would occur to him after this, 'cause he's, obviously he wants to solve the situation, right? It's like, hey, this is messed up and we need to, but this isn't gonna be solved by you guys heading back, right? And it's probably not gonna be solved even like, if he sent, you know, a battalion of people, if there's still a couple of hundred, you know, feral vampires in there, like you guys are gonna need, you're gonna need some kind of, you're gonna need like surgical tools to get these guys out.

It's like bedbugs. So it's not gonna be like you guys go in there and just start hammering and nailing it. Like, you know, so, I think he would sit here. Like, it's gotta be like the longest silence in the world. It's like, okay, here's what I want you to do for now. Go take some time off and get squared away. If you could do two things for me, I would very much appreciate it. Terry, I believe you said his name was. Fix him up. Like get, 'cause he sounds 12 and he has the face of a 55 year old retired general. So fix him up. - Well part of a face, I mean, let's be fair.

- Part of a face, that's mean. That's some of my best friends have one eye. That's not cool. They don't like that. - I didn't mean it bad, just it's true. The other thing is if you're comfortable talking about it, pass whatever you've picked up on the road onto other recruits, sit down, talk with them, let them know what they're actually going to find out there or a possibility, but I doubt people are gonna run into your situation, but give them whatever valuable knowledge you've come back with. And I'm gonna talk to a few people about this and see what we can do because I've said this before, but the situation is far worse than we thought it was.

So let me see about getting this moved forward much more quickly and just take some time off, all right? - Okay. - Before we leave the room, runes is gonna slowly reach into his bag and he's like maintaining eye contact with Po as he does this and he's gonna take out the box and set it on the table 'cause they never used it. So we still got a box full of sunlight. - Yes. - And it's partially, we played this game on hard difficulty and I want everyone to know. So I just want, he's just setting this box here, like maybe this will help 'cause we didn't use it.

- Yeah, is there a state, does runes have a state that says you might need this? - There's definitely a few times you could have used that and it probably would have helped, but you didn't. That's fine. Achievement unlocked, I guess, if you were going for. (laughing) - Every time you play a game, it's always on hard mode first. - Duh. - Yep. - No. - You skip to four and disagree. - There's a level in Left 4 Dead where you're at a carnival and if you take, I think it was a little lawn gnome and you carry it the whole way to the end, you get a special achievement.

That's what I think this is. - I never did that one. - That the first one? - It's stupid and hard. - Holy shit. - It was two. - I was like I never recorded that first one. Here's what I'd like to do. I would like to go around the table here. What would each of you do? Let's say it's three days off. Three days where it's like, hey, don't bother them. No pushups, no running. No, they get three days off, just leave them be. What would you do with that time? And what would you pass on? Like if you see somebody, it's like, hey, come here a sec. Or like let's say you get a little TED Talk or something.

You know what I mean? Basically expectation versus reality. What to do when you're actually on the road. Like a Dragon Con panel, basically. That's what you're doing. And I would love to start with Jasper. - Oh. - We have to save our glorious leader for last. - Of course. I mean, this is mostly his responsibility. The accolades that we get. - Oh no, no, no, no. - His, whatever he says counts for 80% of your grade. I just want you to know. - It's totally true. I think also, okay, there's three days of this going on. I'm sure there's a little bit of downtime for a day or as they set things up or whatever, get people together.

I think during that time, Petrichor would be going back to his barracks. It's only, it hasn't been that long. So it's not like they got rid of his stuff or anything. He would probably be taking a lot of just quiet time to clean his stuff, clean up his staff, clean up his clothes, mend things. And I think what you would see is not just a lot of, let me fix this or let me get some new boots or let me, I think he would be taking that sort of very deliberate, long time of like mending something and sewing something on his own. And dog would probably be there at his feet.

Basically just being incredibly slow and mindful. He probably have a lot of conversations also. I'm just sort of skimming through some of these ideas, but he probably have a bunch of conversations with Terry, just in general about, what's your favorite color kind of conversation? Like just something beyond, like let's just get back to being a normal person for a minute. Oh, let's go get some tea. Let's go do whatever. Come with me to the mess hall. Just kind of just boring shit in a way, right? Just sort of counterbalance what's going on. He would focus a lot on Terry is my point.

I mean, he would be checking in with everybody and he would be, but he would be very, there'll be a lot of just grace, just like space and presence and just trying to be just small kindness. When asked to sort of put something together to sort of get the recruits, to let them learn something, his thought would probably be, well, I can't explain it to them. I mean, I'm telling the story of what we just went through, but that's not gonna get anybody anywhere. What he would probably do is just say, listen, I can't talk about it, but what I can do is I'm just gonna, I'm gonna teach him a skill and then later I'm gonna explain why it matters maybe a little bit.

What he would do is he would get all the recruits out there into whatever field that they would be able to do some sort of, like a mock skirmish or something like that, where they do sort of combat training. He would get all of the recruits except for one, or let me say this way, he would pick one randomly. He would say, okay, all right, you're it. Everybody else circle around on the outskirts. Everybody's got all your weapons and the weapons here are soft, like padded dagger, wooden, like padded pieces of wood, like daggers, fake weapons, things that you could throw, stuff that would mimic crossbows or arrows or whatever it might be, but it's not fun to get hit with like a paintball, but hey, you gotta deal with it.

What he would do is on the other side of this field, he would put a watermelon and he would have that watermelon on a table and he would say to everybody else around, well, no, to the one person he chose, he would say, all right, your job is to go from here all the way over to that watermelon, pick it up, bring it all the way back right here and he's maybe got a little pedestal or something like that. You gotta put that watermelon right here and you gotta keep it safe the whole time. Something happens about watermelon, it'll be hell to pay. Everybody else, you know what to do.

Three, two, one, go! And just like, whoa, whoa. And basically just, it's gonna be all day of getting one by one to go get a watermelon and safely bring it back to where they started, just getting pelted the entire time. That's it, that's his only training session that he wants everybody to go through. It's gonna suck for every single person. They're all gonna have a lot of bruises and there's gonna be a lot of watermelon parts and seeds everywhere, whatever the equivalent of watermelon is, by the way. There's gonna be a lot of that all around, but he's gonna try to make the point of, it kinda doesn't matter if you're getting pelted.

If you got something to save, you gotta go save it. That's it, right? You gotta be single-minded and you gotta think of something beyond your own skin. That's it. - I think, Terry hanging out with you, Overdale is a very different city than Brightport and all of it was very different from Donhurst. So just, this is the first time he's had a chance to kind of settle into a city and hang out and just, it's like, okay, this is kinda nice. It's got a different vibe. And he's probably thought a lot about, "Okay, what do I do next? What comes next? What do I?" 'Cause the entire point of him being a part of the city and him wanting to swear an oath and become a paladin is to help people.

And the recruitment poster is different than what you go see in the world, right? And I think he probably thinks long and hard about whether that's what he actually thinks he can do to help people. And then he probably gets word, just through the grapevine, through news, asking around that the paladins of Kord are going through this huge existential crisis, right? 'Cause Kord no longer exists if you believe, you know. And there's probably, it's like, well, okay, the two people running the temple, only one of them's there right now. The other one took a bunch of the paladins and went in a pilgrimage to go speak directly to the gods, like going to speak to the world's manager.

And so it's probably like, okay, well, I don't even know if that would be the right move. And I think he would ultimately decide that maybe it would be better if he either helped prepare people or researched things, 'cause he comes from a family of researchers, of magic users. He just never had much of an aptitude for it. And so he would probably be talking to Petrichor about this the entire time. Like after that first day, it's like, well, let's sleep for, I don't know, 18 and a half hours, something like that. Then we'll talk about stuff. And I think keeping things nice and slow.

I did roll a die. I did roll. And a seven means that you'd probably catch her nibbling on someone, like figuring it out. You know what I mean? Like doing that very dog thing of like, just kind of keeping an eye on it. It's like, - Now? - Yeah, yeah, yeah. Like this is cool. I'm gonna do it, right? Like, you know, that very dog thing of, so training would have to be, you know, like while you're sitting there mending something, it's like, no, stop, just stop. - Leave it. - Here's a rat. I don't know. I just hear something. - This brings up a good question. Is, okay, who would Petrichor talk to, whether it's in Overdale or, I mean, is there a longer term solution?

I think probably he would find the rats. He would find the, you know, like the squirrels of the barracks, you know, like whatever. Surely there's things living all around. And he would do his best, but he's like, this ain't gonna last, you know, this is just, this is for right now. Give me a couple of hours and let me think of something else. I don't, not to put you on the spot, but I don't know who he could talk to about a more permanent thing. - Well, it's a tough city. - It's a tough city. Like, okay, so Carter had a big fear of vampires and probably instilled that in a lot of it.

You know, it's all the things that are vilified. Yeah, like I think even though some people have opened up a bit about racial equality, I think most people, Vietnam or dwarf, they could look at each other, but fuck vampires, right? - Okay, cool. - That might even be the top, yeah. That might even be like the, okay, I like the cut of your jib type of thing. That's how they bond. So you walking around with a dog that is a vampire that might try to nibble on somebody, I think they give you a solution, but I don't think it would be, it would be final, but they'd be like, hey, I got a solution for this.

You know, especially if she had nibbled on something. Right, so I think like it would be one of those things where, it'd be one of those things where like, you're gonna have to figure that out. That's, I don't think you're gonna find somebody in the city. That's probably like another quest. However, you can just keep animals on hand and stuff. Like hunting is, you know, like there's all kinds of stuff in the city where people are taking animals that haven't been skinned yet or something like that. And it's like, oh, two squirrels please. Like you just, you know what I mean?

- This is pretty terrible, but petrichor's animal handling is, he's proficient. - I like where this is going. - He'll take the time to go, yeah, let me go. Come here, come here little squirrel, come here. How you doing? Okay, you're dead. He's gonna use his animal handling to basically use it. He's gonna be proficient in not just being friends with the animals, but also taking care of dog. And maybe that's for the foreseeable future until he finds another solution. - Hey, but you know what though? That's part of, that's the circle of life though, right? - So I'm thinking as a druid, it's sort of this sort of balance of, well, listen, I mean, vampires are, a vampire dog is as much a creature of this world who deserves and needs what they need.

Who am I to object to that kind of a thing, right? So I feel like it's not cruelty or that he wouldn't see it as cruelty any more than he would see, it would be cruel to let dog starve or let dog die or let dog suffer. - You also have to imagine we're in a fantasy world. We're in a fantasy world, this dog doesn't eat dog food out of a bag. This dog has already been eating meat. Luckily that petrichor has been hunting unless you did that terrible thing where you tried to make the dog vegan, which you probably didn't do. - Dogs aren't straight up carnivores, we were joking, but Luna will eat broccoli and green beans before steak.

- But you still eat some meat in a dog's diet. - Yeah, totally, for sure. That's a good point. I feel like this is just more of the same, but maybe it's a little bit more, maybe there's a slightly different flavor of what he has to sort of go towards and maybe it's a fresher kill or hey, here's a squirrel, you kill it kind of a thing. I don't know, whatever it is, I think he would go to the trouble of making this part of his new deal. - You could take up all those level one quests for rats in the basement. - Yeah, yeah. - Oh, that's it. Maybe, oh, okay.

- Wait, yeah. - Petrichor will take on an odd job where he's just like, "Hey, you need some help with your basement? I'll take care of it, no problem at all." - Oh shit, yeah. - What's your horse pass control? Animal handling? - It's either that or have to move from district to district as every pet store kind of, it's like, don't fucking, no, not that guy. Don't sell him anything. - Well, this is pretty good. I like it, I think he would be clever. I think he'd be, thank you for talking through it. I think this is, we basically just now talked through his thoughts over the past couple of days, right?

Where it's like, well, I can't do that. No, I guess I could do, actually it's not much different than, hmm, okay. Okay, here's what I'm gonna do. And then he would basically just make a concerted effort to make sure that he was able to just keep it going with Dog. - Bree. - Yes. - Rhodes. - Yes. - Okay, so I feel like once they are allowed to just go about their separate ways and things like that, Bruns would kind of signal to Tamika that he's going to go off on his own for a little bit, which is a little unusual for him. He's usually like right there, but like, you know, it's been a long while and he's going to go out for a while and he's gonna take what money he has and do a little shopping and put together.

So essentially the whole time they've been traveling, runes has just been wearing his kind of kilt situation. Like he's very bare chested. He's gonna go out and he's going to buy a nice tunic and a fancy overcoat, very black tie, but like white, 'cause he's a guy who wears white, but like a very fancy overcoat, trousers, like some high boots. Like he really wants to look like he belongs in this city for a change, like the coat's got lapels on it. And then later that night, like after the sun has set, he would go back and look for Tamika and ask her to follow him if she wouldn't mind.

- Yeah, she would go, we'll get back to what she was doing during the day, but during runes' scene, yes, she would go. - Okay, cool. And he would take her to one of the towers because I think they have access to the towers being white ravens. - What towers? - The ones that are outlining the city, like if you look at the map, there's towers. - Oh yeah, no, I mean, there's a lot of towers. I just like didn't know, like in the castle. - Like one of the not populated ones and he set up like a little picnic area on the top. And he tried to like pick out some of Tamika's favorite foods and all of that.

And he just has a little blanket out. - Anything fried, probably. - Some wine, like, and he's just gonna want to sit down with her. And eventually he's going to slide over a note while they're eating. And it's going to say, "I don't want to hurt you. I cannot speak to you, but would you let me in?" And he's going to hold up a hand like this in front of him. - I know you would never hurt me and she immediately puts up her hand. - He is going to open up his mind, but he's not going to say words. It's just this warmth and this glow that you feel inside and you know to your very bones that it's for you.

And there's this like protection and care and familial feeling. And you know immediately without any words crossing you that like, this is a confession. And then he's going to kind of flinch back and he's waiting for your reaction. - So probably while their hands are touching, like that feeling is going to be like, you know, just to suddenly feel so overwhelmingly love, like even like no matter the situation, a smile is probably going to come up for her face. And then there's going to be realization of what this means for them. And there will be a flinch, which in that situation seems really bad to anybody being confessed to.

- And then her ears are going to twitch and then she's going to be confused. And her thought process in this moment is, I've never thought about it this way. And then she's going to go, oh, that was lovely, that was special. I never thought about it that way. Can you give me some time? - And he's like the whole time, he can't blink. He doesn't have any facial expressions. So like, as you're doing this, this has to be really weird for both of you because like on his end, the concept of being able to like, I don't know, I don't know how to do this, I don't know how to do this, the concept of being able to like hide a crush from somebody, that doesn't exist in his culture.

Like the second you develop feelings, that person knows 'cause they can hear it immediately. They're like, I know what you're thinking. So, and you are now reacting and no facial expression. Like you don't know if you've hurt his feelings. You don't know if he's crushed. You don't know if he's furious. Like, and then he's just like, he's going to nod and then put his hand down like near yours and he's holding eye contact. And then for a moment, he's going to like lift it up again. Like if you want to touch my hand, but like just, like he's kind of tilting it.

So only the tips of your fingers would touch if you did reach out again. - There'd be a moment of hesitation this time. And then Tamika would touch fingers. - And that feeling is going to come back a second time, like much more light, like he is holding back. And again, he's so afraid to speak because, you know, 'cause he's talked to you before, like writing down, he's hurt people before and he doesn't want to hurt you. So he's trying to convey these feelings. And the thing that you would leave with is this love isn't going away no matter what, but it can be different types of love.

Whatever love Tamika wants is the love that he would want to give her. And then fade to black, like just staring up at the stars. - Yeah, we'll resolve that. But for real, for Tamika, that would have been, she's like tunnel focused this entire time. And it's like, wait, that was happening? - Like, we've all had that feeling of like, wait, what? I need a minute, what? - Susan. - What were you doing earlier that day? - So Tamika would have been, when runes left to go do their own thing, Tamika would have been like, oh, good, good. I gotta write a letter. And she would have been writing a letter to her sister and it would have taken her a long time, like crossing things out, many drafts, like throwing it away and like just pouring ink on it 'cause she's so frustrated 'cause she just wants to say this right.

And eventually it boiled down to this. Hey, Maria, I've been meaning to write for you, well, forever now, I'm just, I'm so sorry for everything, for hurting you with my magic. It's something I think about every day. I never wanted to hurt you and honestly, I still think about it. But I want you to know I'm different now. I've grown a lot. You'd be proud of me. I think, at least I hope you would. A lot of it is thanks to you. Even after everything, you'd still believed in me and that, well, it helped me more than I could say. It's given me a whole new way of looking at my magic, how to use it, when to use it and all of it.

And I guess I gotta give some credit to my friend's runes too. He's been my rock through this whole crazy journey. You'd love him. He's this big, scary looking guy, but deep down, total softy, I swear, he's just like a giant teddy bear. If teddy bears didn't talk and fought monsters, I guess. Anyway, I miss you so much, more than I could even put into words. But I'm trying to do better. I'm trying to be someone you could be proud of. One day I'll come back and I'll show you everything I've learned. Until then, just no one thinking of you always. Love you, Tamika." And so that's the letter she spends writing all day to her sister.

Before we jump to the other thing, what would you pass along to one of the recruits? AIMEE So Tamika would find someone struggling casting magic. MATT (IC) Not hard. AIMEE Yeah. MATT (IC) Anyone learning, it's, oh man, like everyone struggles with it. AIMEE Yeah. And so Tamika would go up to them and see them just like getting frustrated and just be like, "Hey, wait, wait, stop, stop. Stop what you're doing. Hey, let's go somewhere else. Like take him out of the training room and take him outside or something into like a big open area and just be like, "Hey, just sit for a moment.

Just sit and this is going to be weird, but just listen to your breathing, okay? Just feel it going in and out. And now like start listening to the things around you. Start listening to the city, start listening to the birds, whatever, whatever catches your fancy, just pay attention to that and then go back to your breath and then see how you feel. Now, now think of that fire in your hand you were trying to do. Think about as you breathe out, let that fire grow. And then I hope there's this beautiful moment where, oh my God, like the fire in their hand grows.

And it's like, yeah, when you're using magic, you just gotta center yourself, if that makes sense. You gotta, it's about you and the state your mind is in. So if you're more frustrated but trying to cast it over and over and over and over again, your spell's just not gonna work. You have to be in a better place. So before you work on magic, try working on you. Could you do me a big favor? Give me a D20. Okay. Okay, that is a good time to roll a crit. So they're probably gonna give this a shot. Maybe even it's like, all right, like, cause you're not that much older than a recruit that, you know what I mean?

You might even be right around the same age-ish, like it's, you know, so the only reason they would be like, okay, is that word had gotten around that you guys had been through it, that you came back, you know, and they give it a shot and it instantly like clicks like whatever needed to happen in their brain. Like just take a beat, take a breath, all that. Like it just clicks. And they're just gonna be tremendously thankful because it's, fuck, like the opposite of what I've been doing, like I've been obsessing over it and trying and trying and slowing down was the, okay, well, embarrassed about it, you know what I mean?

Like being so wrong about their attempts and approach. - And Tamiko would be like, I was just like you, don't worry. Like three weeks ago, I couldn't even cast gusts. Like three weeks ago. - Three weeks ago. (laughing) - Yeah, and Tamiko would be like, I understand. (laughing) - Do you want to get back to the other day? - Yeah, and so I guess that night would end, Tamiko would need the night to think about it. And then Tamiko knowing that she, how far she's come in such a short amount of time, but knowing that change is good, inherently good. That's like the base of her entire magic is that just embrace the change.

Like, so Tamiko would come back to runes and basically pull them aside or have a private moment and go, I don't know. (soft music) How this looks for us, but I really want to give it a shot. - Ah, yay. - I feel like he would like pick her up and spin her. - Aww. - Like that would be the go-to. And like, if you wanted to try for a kiss, you could pick wherever. (laughing) He doesn't have lips, but you could do that general area if you wanted, but mostly he's just happy. - Okay. - Yeah, and for Tamiko it's just like, let's see where this goes. - Yeah. - Yeah.

- I don't even know if he has a penis, so like we don't have to think about that part yet. - I mean, this relationship might not even change at all. Like. - Yeah, exactly. (laughing) - And that's like, he was trying to say, it's like, hey, even if we're just friends forever, I'm just happy to be with you is kind of the vibe. - Well, I mean like, they'd still cuddle and they'd still do all the things they've been doing, just a deeper emotional connection, I guess. - It is a lot like getting your first girlfriend as a gay woman, 'cause you're like, wait, what changes about this?

Nothing at first, that's weird. The first thing is, I thought about this a lot actually. He would, for one reason or another, immediately feel the sense of loss of power, because he's no longer under the boot of the celestial.

I mean, that's what he's known for a while. I don't remember how much I said in the backstory, but he's been a warlock for a very long time. - Mm-hmm. - So, him no longer having that power is gonna give him this void. And I think the first day of vacation, quote unquote vacation, right, he is gonna wander over there, 'cause he has no idea what to do. Like, he'll go to a tavern and order a drink, and obviously drink doesn't fill that hole. He'll go get a meal somewhere nice, upscale, and the meal is good, but it doesn't satiate him. And I think he'll return to the barracks or the area where the White Ravens are camped, like the home base, and probably seeing just how scruffy and undisciplined the recruits are, it fills them with a sense of purpose.

Like, oh, this fucking chumps, like, are you kidding me? Like, if they fought, they'd be dead if they saw what we saw. If one of those things that came after us even breathed near them, they'd be dead. And I think he would just go up to these random three recruits who are probably just having a good night, you know, coming back from a night off, and he's just gonna get into it with them, just like yell at them. He's like, "Oh, I didn't know that we were keeping our boots unlaced." And however they respond, just kind of like questioning, like, who the fuck is this guy, right?

Like, to summarize it, he pulls a daredevil where basically they don't know who he is, and he wants to show them that, you know, they need a lot more training and need a lot more help. He proceeds to beat the fuck out of all three of them, just like as best he can without hurting them too much, but enough for, like, you know, where they're on the ground, and he's like, "Are you -- you know, that's all you got? That's it? Is that everything you have?" This went in a way that I did not expect. Well, he's like... When he's done teaching them as much as he can, he's gonna try and basically let them know who he is, what he's doing.

Well, okay. You know we got to make a roll to see how well this goes. Do you just get into a fight with three dudes? I think you... Give me -- give me an athletics check. No, one of my worst ones. All right. You fistful three dudes. Like... Like, he's got -- He's got this fire. You know, he's got this fire. I'm gonna live. If we were in the new system, I'd say give me an expertise die, as well. Oh, so bad. Three. It's a three. Oh, my God. He's gonna get my ass kicked. Oh, my gosh. You're gonna get your ass kicked. Yeah, you are. So, I feel like... The description you gave was accurate to a point.

Yeah. I didn't -- I didn't know the bootlaces thing, and they do look at you like, "What?" Just basically like, "Who the fuck are you?" And then you just waylaced one of them. You pick one, and you just blam. Like... And he probably goes down, not expecting a fistfight, especially not in the barracks. It's just not that vibe. You know what I mean? Mm. And then the other two proceed to tune you up. [ Laughs ] Like a fucking violin. Like -- like... Never heard that tune in my life. Badly. Yeah. Tune you up? I've heard it before. I've never heard that before in my life.

Yeah. It's cool. I like it. Yeah. There's a lot of euphemisms for fighting where I come from. Weirdly, there's just a lot of ways to describe it. It's an area where you have to constantly be reminded, if you get caught with brass knuckles, that's a federal charge. Like... Oh, my God. Let's go. I don't know if that's true, but it was scary. That is like, "All right, fine, fine, fine. Thank you, Susan. Thank you." I know that that's -- He's gonna look it up. Yeah, I want to know. I am curious. You're very illegal. I know that. Yeah, for sure. You really pressed on the "get caught with" because, like...

Yeah. Yes. No, no, no. Don't not use them. Like, the question is whether you have brass knuckles. It's whether they're so intentionally... Again, where I grew up, it was very much like, "Look, you will fight three times. You will fight three times. Like, look, you will fight three dudes, and you will roll a three." But that first dude, ooh. Not illegal in Florida. Yeah, of course it is illegal. It's not illegal. The map is barely illegal in Florida. You're gonna go a lot west, and you're not even in the west. Yeah. Like, you're not -- Like I said, you're not even the south.

You're your own thing. Like, it's -- Like... What about Jersey? Is it a federal? Let's see. Let's see. I would guess it is. Question for Kanan. Are there any, like, higher-ups in the area that would notice just someone clocking one of the other soldiers and, like, in a fight breaking out? Probably. I mean, if you think about it, the barracks at night, it's probably like they're on the lookout for this kind of stuff, right? Like, that's the number one thing. They're like, "We've got to start fights." I'm literally wondering if Poe would find him. Like, maybe he needs to, like, give him some -- I definitely think other recruits would jump in.

It's like, "Whoa!" Again, it's not the vibe. Like, you're not in the Marines. It's a different vibe. This is a volunteer program. And, like, you know -- And -- You know, okay. So, yeah, yeah, yeah. So, like, yeah, it's one of those things that you -- People would jump in, but you did -- Like, they got some good kicks and stuff in before that. Sure. Do you stand up and go, "And let that be a lesson?" Like, is it -- How does this -- I think -- I mean, the emptiness -- The emptiness he felt is definitely filled now because, like, it's not violence that he misses.

It's actually -- It's going out in an adventure, like, conflict or being out there and encountering something. Like, he's an adrenaline junkie. Essentially, it's what it comes down to. I feel like someone needs to have a talk with him. He gets up, and he, like -- You know, he's, you know, jaw's cracking a little bit, face is bruised, definitely black eye, cuts. He looks at the two who beat him up, and he just kind of nods, and he's like, "All right, thanks." [ Laughter ] He'll just walk away. Oh, now they think they're part of the fetish. Oh, remember, Alex did know the word "masochism" at the start of this call.

He forgot misogyny, but he remembered masochism. Never forget that one. Hey, hey, hey. We're not here to kink shame. We're not here to kink shame. Ooh. The -- Okay, so, let's see. Now they feel dirty. It's like, "Let's go show him." The whole deal is like that. Uh-oh. That's not good. I didn't roll that. No, I think -- Okay. It's one of those things where it's like, "Hey, you hit our friend. First of all, you came in like a real asshole, and then you hit one of our friends." Like, so, it's one of those things -- I think it might even take the next day. It was like, "Ah, I'm sorry.

We didn't need to kick you that many times." And, you know, like, just cooler heads prevailed. Because, like, you weren't going to beat all three of them up, and they didn't need to go that hot and heavy. It was more just like maybe they were a little drunk. Like you said, they came in after a fun night out, and, you know, a little too much testosterone in the room, whatever it is. But, like, you know. I mean, he'd address them, too. Like, yeah, he would, through his bruises, kind of smile, and he says, "No, that's nothing. You guys didn't do anything wrong.

That was all me. I could have sworn the recruits were made of softer stuff, but it seems like Po's got you trained up correctly." He's going to notice one of them has, like, watermelon seeds on him, on his clothing. [Laughter] Whatever that means, okay. He shakes it off. He's going to get up from wherever this is. I'm assuming the mess hall. Sure. He's going to look for Po, if Po's around. Mm-hmm. And, you know, knock on his office door or whatever. He's got, like, a tent. I'm assuming it's an office. He's got to have an office. Like, yeah, like, just a room.

Like, he doesn't -- like, it's not like he has a lot of paperwork or whatever. He has an office, but it's more -- Yeah, like, it's more for private conversation than anything. It's like the principal's office. Yeah, he's going to knock on the door and then come in and close it behind him and look at Po, and not covering his face, because obviously he's going to show him how fucked up he got. And he would have heard about the fight. He's like, "Hey, glad you came to me. What --" like, just like, "What the fuck was that?" Like, you know, that type of thing.

But, yeah, he's going to let you talk. Feeling it's like, this has to be about that, so go ahead, please. Yeah, he sits down. Yeah, I had an idea, and I didn't execute it correctly, like, at all. Maybe like one-third of the way there, one-third being I beat up one of the recruits and the other two beat the living stuff out of me. He's going to look out -- if there's like a window or something, he's going to look out, not facing Po. He doesn't want to talk to him when he says this, because it's like, really, it's a weird thing for him. And he's like, "Ever since we got back, I know that this group is pretty much done, because, you know, that was our mission.

I've been feeling empty, like there's something missing. And I tried everything. I went out, took the day off the first day, and got food, got drink, you know, walked around the city, took in the sights, and nothing really filled the void. Double also that I'm not talking to my patron anymore, so I don't really think I have access to any of the abilities I had before. And you mix that all up, and you get a real nice recipe for a nobody. And I haven't been a nobody in a long time, and I can't grasp that feeling, that idea. I need to do something, knowing what I saw, and the people that were affected by all the things we encountered.

He looks at Po now, and he says, "There's got to be something I can do, something more. I need action. I need to be on the front lines doing something to help people. I haven't --" And he thinks back to before when he was the bad guy, when he was a bad kid, summoning demons and stuff, and then he's like, "I haven't been not doing good things in a long time." Okay. I gave you three days off. Yeah, I know, there's only the second day. I don't even want to think about what I'm going to do at the end of this day. Yeah, okay. So, okay, before you went right to assault, maybe you could have talked to me a couple of -- Do you think we put all that effort into training you to send you on one mission and then never use you again?

No, no, of course not. It's just that -- I don't know if -- We have to give you days off. You have to take some time off. Trust me. You're going to be in situations where you're going to be gone for way more than a couple of weeks, and who knows what you're going to see? As far as you feeling useless or like a nobody, there's a dozen things we can do. You're not the first person to lose access to power, to be put in a new situation. Do you know how long I had to talk to Liara about being queen and not out? She wanted to go to Donhurst and kill vampires.

She can't do that. That's just not a thing. Yeah. I didn't -- I wasn't thinking clearly, I guess. Maybe because I know that the group is going to go off and do their own thing. And it's silly to think that I'm not going to see them because I'm pretty sure Petchkor's hanging around. I mean, Terry, even Terry, I had missed Terry too much, but I know he's over there going through scrolls and books and all that nerdy stuff that he seems to be liking now. And then Tamikin Ruins, I'm going to miss them too if they go off and do something different. And he's going to smile and lose that power.

It's a very stupid feeling to have. I don't like it. I never had any intention of breaking you guys up. If you worked well together, you already have expertise in the field, at the very least working with each other. Hell, my understanding is Terry was with you for most of your time away. Yeah. Yeah. It was a miracle that we met up with Terry. And I mean, I know we're probably not going to get split up, but there could be things that make people go their separate ways. You know, there's there's always things beyond assignments. Look, here's what we can do.

We have tons of programs in the city. That if you wanted to retrain in another school of magic, we could give that a shot, see if you have any natural inclination towards it. We have some excellent in structure instructors. And if it's not, there's other things you can do. I honestly think you're a natural born leader. He shrugs. Yeah, that's what people keep saying. I don't I guess I don't I don't see it's tough to see when you're inside, you know, stuff to see when you're the one they say it about good things about this. It's not easy to accept compliments.

It's never been something I've been good at. So what do you want to do? Well, I think I should take the day off, right? Well, yes. Maybe end it differently than you ended yesterday. I'm not going to be anybody. I'm not going to get myself beat up yet. No, no, no, no. This this nice shiners now. This is bathhouse material. I'm going to go take a take a relaxing day today. And then tomorrow, I don't know, maybe look into the different types of magic. And he's going to like wave his hands around like it's a funny concept to him now. He's like, I have to look it up now.

I have to read about it and figure out, you know, just I guess what I gravitate towards more. Yeah. Also, you know, if there's ever an opportunity to. Teach the recruits something without having to fight them physically. That was never I never know. That was me. That was me. Yeah, that was me. Everyone else was. Did you see the other members talking to people? No, no. I did. My walk was very long. Well, they were talking to people and just telling them stories, trying to help them. Kind of get a handle on things again. I think that that's. Take the day off. Give it some thought and come back.

But I think after you get a nice steam or whatever you're going to go do, I think it'll clear your head. He's going to like double tap the chair that he's in with his hands like, you know, palms down, tap, tap. OK, good talk, Pope. He realized when he gets up, he's like, like his side hurts. It's like that's the cracked ribs. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. That was those recruits, man. Maybe they're wearing steel boots or something because those boots can have been all muscle. There's no way that those little guys can hit that hard. And as he hobbles out, he's going to think to himself or whisper under his breath.

Yeah, they probably did hit that hard. He's going to spend the rest of the day at whatever bathhouse, hot springs, whatever the equivalent is in Overdale of like a spa. Like he's going to take a spa day. He should have done the first time. I always start with a spa day before a fistfight. Yeah, really loosens you up. That was some goblin energy. I'm going to start a fight. That was like midlife crisis. It has been a long time since he hasn't had powers like that. Like this is something. Yeah. Yeah. It's a weird feeling for Zach. Yeah. Very weird feeling for him.

You got that across. It was I wanted to help. I'm like, Rims doesn't have a mouth. He can't. We got called to one in here. Like I like to be on a lovely date while this was happening. That escalated so quickly. It was like, hey, your shoes on side, motherfucker. Like you just like lean into it like. He really does not like untied shoes. Fucking handsome. Looking for any excuse. I was confused. I was like, did I zone out? You know, I'm famous rage control. His boots is the absolute perfection when it comes to boots. It makes sense. It was just startling. You know, I'm just saying that was resurrection energy like that.

Oh, by the way, buddy, did you pick a good time to leave that group? Oh, no, what happened? I almost killed a hooker. I needed you. You left me alone. And it would it would have to be a slow like wait for daytime and then just inch by inch go through the city. Right. And just exterminate anything that moves. And it would be painstaking and I'll probably write about it. But what I guess what would be the future for your characters?

Like, what would you want that to be? What would you know? Hmm. Like the future, future, future. Everything just like what I guess. Like, OK, I would ask you, Alex, what would you want your next year to be a year for an adventure is like dog years, right? Yeah, a lot of stuff can happen. So like what would you want to happen for Kanan in the next year? I definitely want him to try and keep the group together. That's like obviously he's got this sense of like, I haven't had good friends in a long time and these are good friends, but they're also this is the team.

Right. So he would do everything he can to keep them together. If that meant going with Terry to read books, he would go Terry to read books. If that meant attending Petrichor's watermelon training session, he'd be there with a stick, like throwing the stick at the trainees also. Right. Starting a D&D podcast also. Like, but I think most of all, finding a new source of strength and power within himself is the most it's like priority number two, because he has to prove to himself every time he's had power. It's been because something else has given him power.

When he was the young adult, the teenager, it was the demons and him and his little group of bad, bad kids did all that stuff. And then when it wasn't the demons, it was the celestial basically said, hey, you want to stop being a bad guy? I'll give you, you know, powers. And so I think whatever tutor, if there was like a sorcerer tutor, because he's not very smart, his intelligence is zero. So average, right? Zero plus zero means average intelligence. I'm going off stats. Yeah. No, no, no. Yeah. Wizardry is that's a high bar. That's that's like Ivy League.

Yeah. He's not getting into MIT. No, no, no, no, no. Basically. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Plus eight. That's pretty good. So I know sorcerers. I mean, I met a metagame, but let's say he tries. It's like, look, you already did the one thing that people with no magical aptitude would do your other options, blood magic. But you you you have a decent sense of stuff. So like barding sorcery, that type of thing. I didn't even think about barding. Oh, no, he's he's I mean. You have a lovely voice. You know, more box, more box, more box. There's this one thing called a thunderclap. I think I have it. I had that. You didn't.

So like it's one of those things, whereas this you have to be the conduit to contact the arcane and bring it in.

It's a lot of moving parts, right? It's it's the nth degree of pat your head and rub your tummy at the same time. Right. It's it's it's got to be insane. But I think that's. Gladly teach you. We're going to that's actually something he would do is is just from a combat point of view in terms of training, sort of going to that next level. I think he would probably pull Canon specifically aside to be like, no, no, no, let's figure this out and then learn like flanking and like, you know, back to back and whatever that kind of stuff would be just known already. Well, that's the stuff that maybe we could have known. But yeah, but but didn't remember in the in the thick of things. But it's like, no, no, no, no, we trial by fire. Now we know what we need to go back to.

Beyond that, I don't think he would be from a mechanical point of view. He's just going to remain who he is. I think he's just going to stay the course and you'll probably catch him at night, like in the middle of the night, you know, playing fetch with dog, you know, for some purposes.

Bri. I think runes would just pretty much go along with whatever Tamika would want to do for the most part. I know that sounds lame, but like that's kind of his vibe. Mechanically, he'd stick to training as a monk whenever possible and backing that up with barbarian whenever he needs to. But yeah, he's here to explore and to live his life. And I think he would start to try to learn how to speak to people again, like without hurting them. That would probably be one of his main goals. But that's a very lengthy process because that fear is always going to be there that he could hurt someone he cares about.

Suzanne? Yes. So there's this overwhelming fear of splitting out the party, but Tamika at some point in the next year would be like, hey, I got to go visit my family. Doesn't mean we have to be with each other all the time. Like once a year. I got to go visit my family and chase it like that. No more babies! Tamika would bring it up like I need to take a month or even two off, maybe like a year later, be like, I got to go to Brightport. I got to go visit my sister in particular. I told her I'd check in. We've been exchanging letters, but you know, that's just not enough.

Oh, and then some point during the year, probably within the next few weeks, Tamika would go to the group and be like, so runes and I are a thing now. We'll figure that out. It won't affect the group at all. We promise. But we it's life's too short not to try, you know? Probably at the file something. Sorry, go ahead. I got one more thing. I'm so sorry. Honestly, Terry would probably stick with the group because like, this is not a situation anymore where it's, you know what I mean? Like you've already been through so much now. I think you'd find it weird going to a place and it's like, OK, now let's begin your training. It's like, well, you know, I kind of. Yeah. You want me to move rocks? Like I've ran away from a rock before. Like you want me to move this rock? And I feel like there'd be, you know, obviously you'd be offered a position if you wanted to go back to Donhurst, but you are under no obligation, considering you were only meant to do diplomacy work, not extermination work.

That'd be a big thing. But there'd be there'd be jobs that pop up over and over again. There's there's all kinds of diplomatic missions with the the elves and the orcs up north. There's a whole tension brewing there. There's you know, there's obviously like fences are being mended with Winter Haven all the time trying to, you know, you know, run back and forth. But I genuinely when it comes to, hey, go save the world. It's it's not it's a thousand little baby steps. It just making things a little better. And there's probably tons of stuff around the city you'd be asked to do to soothe tensions between people.

Kind of diplomacy beat cops and kind of type of thing. You know what I mean? Like not everything needs to be fought. Not everything needs to be killed. But but we can't. We have to do this because I think we are heavy hitters. Yeah. Try to keep it outside of the city. I think we go in as monks, but we default to barbarians. Yeah.
