Now our group was making their final preparations in Winterhaven before stepping out into the unknown. Without further ado let's see what awaits them! Oh let's do that thing where we go around the table and introduce ourselves. I'm Jason, I'm the Dungeon Master going around the table starting with a second favorite Jason. I'm joking. Every once in a while I think about your kids and they will come for me one day like Highlander. Like they're going to make sure that you are the only one. They say it every time. Jasper! Hello I'm Jasper. I play Ruby Pettigrew the half-orc gadgeteer adept.

I don't know, she calls herself a few things. And Ian. Hi I'm Ian and I play Chimera the tiefling warlock. And Susan. Hi I'm Susan and I play Nythera the elven rogue. And last and certainly not least our chief building inspector and glorious leader Jamison. Hey I'm Jamison and I play Laugren Cragborn the dwarven marshal. I think we're coming hot off the heels of a painfully successful first episode. We got to meet a few towns folks. You got to wander around Winterhaven a little bit. And we do have some upkeep to take care of because there is I cannot tell you at home how much goes into advancing a world like ours 112 years.

But there's a lot of questions specifically for the cast that need to be answered. And there's going to be a hundred thousand more as we go but there's a couple of character things we need to do. Ian I have your two truths and a lie about Winterhaven. Excellent love it. I have an update about the Evergreen itself for Susan. Yeah. And we're going to talk a bit about a stone sunder as well just character motivation stuff. Last time we left off you guys got what may be the biggest level one windfall that we've ever had. So much so that I'm willing to bet everything as you know my my years of doing this that I am going to get emails telling me man you just rolled over you just gave it to but I know what's outside the gates so I'm okay with it and I'm going to piss those people off even more because I'm giving everybody inspiration to start the session.

Let's go. This will not happen every time but to be fair everybody but me actually earned it through their like uh it was half and half. Mine was shaky it's true I get inspiration when I defeat when I outwit a foe so if I decide I really don't like that shopkeeper I think it counts so I give it to the whole thing but otherwise it probably doesn't count. Yeah. Lester was witless I don't really think that he's a foe to anyone really. He can't really be an enemy. He can't really be unarmed in our combat it's fine. So you guys have a piece of property out there with your name on it it's a fixer-upper you know that uh what what I know there's some cleanup left in Winterhaven before you set out it's a big old nasty journey it's not even that far it's about 30 miles but 30 miles is long enough in in this climate.

What would you guys like to do to better prepare us and we're already assuming you got furs you've got you've got everything you know you'll need so essentially this would be stuff like uh spell components and uh any uh sets of tools you might need or something something you're just not gonna find out on the road. Uh it's just safe to say that we've already got like tools that we're proficient in right because like uh Lagrin's got Craftsman's proficiencies and such I think he's got it on his character sheet but if not then I assume I I that's right up there with the rations stuff. It's on my sheet.

I've got Mason's tools so yeah I think I'm fine for that but now we are going to be keeping track of rations and essentially the way it works is every day that you're on the road you subtract one ration. A ration is not just food but it's water it's everything you would need in a day basically. Uh think of them like little MREs that type of thing so it it adds a layer of stuff we have to track but it's it's only one thing per day if we lose track of that we've fucked up somewhere so yeah. [Nathira will ask Lagrin uh so boss I know he saved a bunch on this deal can I um and I have this book now holding up the poisoners almanac with the extra money can I get a poisoners kit should run us 50 gold or less] Lagrin just kind of blazes like you don't have one all right yeah uh couldn't afford it in character creation yeah I mean he drops it just as a coin purse like right in her hand and be like sure yeah that's fine okay um I'm gonna grab one I'm good you already got the oh yeah okay yeah yeah we're trusted players I show Ruby like the little potion that I that I teefed as well I just kind of like open my coat and just like like just gonna stick it out a little bit and like she just like love it love it um one thing Ruby's gonna want to do before we go is is just wherever we can get a just a bottle of something just uh you know some something to keep us warm on the walk you know like a oh booze oh yeah just some some brown liquor of some sort I like that so I like that too save some for me okay before we go knock over a liquor store because let me just um simple as that she might want to she might want to get a little bit of the nice stuff just because we got a little extra gold you know kind of just a nip of the goods just just a little bit she'll she'll she'll kind of give uh Lagerin a little bit of the the puppy dog eyes like come on just well get a bottle of cheap stuff and then you get a bottle of good stuff that way we you know work it out on the cheap stuff and then we can enjoy the good stuff love the way you think yeah well easy enough that can't be too you know you're not getting the good 30 years aged in the cask stuff right you're just no no the the stuff that isn't the I gotta there's like I want to get where I'm going level which is like you know like this is cheap then there's the ones like this you know let's get the one that tastes kind of interesting and fun and we can talk about it like we know the peanut butter whiskey yeah something a little smokier just a little bit of the red label the blue label yeah that's it oh nice yes I've I've always been a clear alcohol man a vodka man specifically ah yes and I have learned that I am not the man I was in my 20s who among us are I used to get the backwards our gallon plastic jug of vodka yeah and I used I we we got a big thing of vodka for like some I think we I think it was for the royal rumble something like that and we got the big like half gallon for like ten dollars and I almost went blind there is nothing you can mix that with that it is paint thinner and I don't know if it got worse or if I just got weaker when I was like no we got it's it's base level smearing off and then above like we don't have to get gray goose or whatever but like it's got to be able I got to be able to drown this out with fruit punch like you get into your 40s you got to establish a line you know otherwise yeah I I don't know maybe maybe maybe I've become spoiled I don't even drink that much maybe maybe yeah that's I got all that podcast money and I right right right that laughter was too genuine stop it so after after booze is acquired which required works I feel like requires like a committee like that's a good one all right we'll take that yeah sure logrin kind of looks around the group and he says I got one more stop and then we can go you guys want to come see uh come see the magic man absolutely it's time yeah I just have to drop a full letter along the way hey just want to give you all a heads up um that thing with the shop back there that was a uh kolgoth thing ruby will immediately roll her as soon as the comes out of your mouth uh look it's you know I just I'm just trying to get out ahead of it in case it comes up again and it probably will so just letting you know um nythira is going to give you like an assessing look like look you up and down what did you have to pay well he was you know a little vague about the details but it was just a little yeah it was just a little shop fire I can't be that much or bad you gotta get the terms next time that's too open-ended you can't keep doing that I know I know but look I I've been living with kolgoth for more of my life with him than I haven't been so I I know how to navigate around it it should be fine I just just giving you all a heads up that's why I got this and she's gonna slosh one of the bottles that she she uh she bought like hold it up like that's why this this is why we have this yeah logan puts a hand out for it because now it's like actually I need that right now it turns out we got out of that fixed thanks to a contract so I need to sit um so uh nythira is gonna deliver a letter yeah just like drop it off like a courier along the way where's it going evergreen if oh well oh absolutely ever so evergreen the evergreen is doing pretty damn well bit of backstory for everyone over the last century while they did initially have some friction with the mozog tribe of orcs that live there uh it got better and they essentially saw things in each other that they respected from their own culture's point of view right there was you know honoring your word you know both people are really good at combat just in different ways like if you want to put an arrow through the skull of something that will a hundred yards away for you know that you're asking an elf you want to bury a hatchet in someone's spine probably going to ask and work but essentially the two cultures ended up kind of mingling together and even interbreeding there's an entire race of half orc half elves and the the moon shadow clan opened them with the open arms just welcomed them in and as a result not only has the evergreen expanded taking back the scar from you know where straw just burned that down they've taken that back and even grew into the swamp a bit so they're thriving and their magics are able to do something similar to what winterhaven is but it they're there it's it's pretty peaceful there the weather hasn't really impacted them too much and if you try to chop down a tree or disrespect the forest they're much more physical than they used to um diplomatic and kind of it's like oh if you do that one more time now they'll just cut your fucking hands off if you you know so you know it's it's pretty widely known that it's like hey man pick up your litter and shit okay just no gender reveal parties no you know like you know so nathiera is gonna drop off a letter and it's she's basically gonna give the instruction that um to the courier yeah just any um any ryalis you come across any of the dozen or so they're one of mine give it to any of them it'll probably take a week to get there it's pretty slow going uh there's a there's there's you know mail gets distributed out you know every few days but the ride there is uh you know it totally depends on the weather right it's it's it's like having an amazon package that it's like nope it snowed today i can't get there it's that happened to me today so magic man break this down for me so we've been in town i know we came in to um make this deal today but we've been in town for a little while i would say probably as a group or at least have been back and forth you know from here and elsewhere but um not too long ago logran would have contacted a wizard here in the city and whether or not it's somebody of station or not is up to you but basically he's trying to commission a uh artifact that he wants to have built and the the terms of the deal that logan remembers walking away from is that this person that he hired didn't have the ability to actually make it because he's what he's asking for is that is a high octane like big deal type thing but he does know how or says he knows how to at least design it so what we're expecting when we approach this guy is or this person is um a shopping list essentially for what we need in order to assemble this thing according to the specifications of this person's design so we just need that list well let's play this out let's let's have a little fun here because this is obviously there's going to be some good news bad news like you know the list is not going to be we need eggs like it's going to be it it's it's going to be rare right oh yeah right yeah i'd be concerned if what with what we're looking for if the list contained eggs to be honest did you just understand it shouldn't have a death ray right eggs i mean i don't understand magic but yeah i mean i don't want to tell your business but eggs yeah that's like and then at the end of it all like we get all the things he gets the eggs and just like makes an omelet and he's like thank you i just wanted to see if you'd do it honestly yeah and then he digs it out from like a drawer this here you go here you go so the wizard you're gonna go see only goes by the name tealbin tealman tealbin tealbin okay she's eccentric now a little backstory when omenura went down uh the wizards that didn't die or just you know townspeople that lived in the city scattered because that obviously wasn't a safe place to research anymore and a lot of people had a hard time finding homes they weren't equipped for dealing with the surface area and then winter hit and then they're just kind of out and about so finding a wizard is tough these days of any renown like if you're looking for an archmage that's a quest because a lot of those guys are hiding for you know war crimes um people who watch the trailer were very quick to go fuck them it's like no i'm not look not every side is equal i get it not everyone gets you know like it's a shame an entire city had to go is the only thing so um they're not really making new archmages anymore so as the years go on it's going to get tougher uh tealbin you get the impression that she was shaken up by the ordeal you've gathered that she definitely was omen you in human euro when it went down she's older she's um she's she's elven you you don't you're guessing that's an assumed name and she is very worried about the security of her home there are several locks on her door and then a couple of magic ones just to make sure every time you know the first time you went knocked on her door you know it damn near lost an arm yeah okay yeah so if we're visiting her at her home then um logran will actually stop uh about 10 feet out pick up a cobblestone and and funk it at the door rather than hit it and knock on it because he knows that the things probably will be trapped you're not wrong obviously uh it's not a lethal you're guessing that if you were to make it past that it would get more lethal but this one thankfully is more a warning so it's kind of like a mild electroshock so you're gonna you're gonna see the rock kind of like you know not quite electric fence level but it's more like don't yeah i'm wearing a lot of metal i don't want to deal with that yeah you're gonna so this is a solid oak door right and then from the other side you're gonna see it's like and it looks like a peephole like a porthole of glass is there but it's it's just her using magic and like kind of like pressing her face against it and she has like classic elegant elven features but there's no dignity there in terms of like taking care of yourself and like the hairs all over the place that it she is a shut it and just kind of like presses her face against this like fish eye glass oh and you know just kind of like yeah yeah you're like just like a whole bunch of blocks yeah just check our watches we hand the bottle around while she's doing the line 100 the chief she's gonna heft this door open you're guessing it's it's probably reinforced well please come on in all right let's go ahead on in susan has something to say no how do i stop it how do i stop it press the hand again press the hand again perceive susan i'm trying to mute i love that that's an introvert's worst fear everyone stop because of me this was a mistake shut it up just the computer goes off i just disappear just unplugs it the whole machine yeah we go in we go into that building or at least logran does i assume everybody oh yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah this is uh this is a hoarder's den of magical stuff like but not cool magical artifacts like oh i'm growing mushrooms in the couch and i'm doing like not again not okay yeah yeah yeah yeah like it's like who needs a newspaper from eight years ago i got one of those like you know so logan will do it under his breath hands to ourselves oh yeah there's a dead cat just i need that i'm waiting for it to do something um okay you uh list you need a list you need you're remembering well i i have it written down somewhere uh hey i've i had to think about this quite a lot and i hope you appreciate the amount of effort uh that has gone into it uh that being said this list is not going to be easily uh completed you understand yeah i expected that to some degree i hope it's not you know i was within reason and she's got it's kind of stuffy in here because she's afraid to open the windows and she's also got the wood stove cranked because she's got stuff boiling on it so she's got this thin sheen of eddie brock sweat so she's got this big baggy sleeve everyone's like ah okay uh yeah okay so here's the list there are eight major components the rest of it i can get uh through contacts in the city and uh going all the way out to albrey if i have to how are you with heights um you know what and he kind of looks down at himself he's like a brick of of armor better than you'd think i'm all right okay okay there's probably a mountain you're gonna have to go up at some point uh you're a dwarf i i i imagine you can source the the precious stones but there's two of them you will need adam anti okay oh that's it's not a ton of it but oh ruby just just looking at log right oh i'm just kind of like salivating oh yeah do you know what i could do with that shit yeah we'll get he kind of gives emotion and he's i feel like he does this a lot when she gets excited like we'll get extra you'll have some to take yes so immediately she goes this is going to be hard to get and logan goes we'll get extra is kind of how hard could the most precious metal in the world again again you know i i that's a level one quest right we're gonna be there anyway might as well the most difficult thing is you're gonna have to charge those two precious stones and i don't really know where you're gonna find someone with that much magic so okay so we need somebody to charge the stones do you okay there any kind of like how or are they gonna just or will they know anyone with the kind of power that that they'd have to know how they know what you're asking for it just would be uh probably costly and that they'd barely be hiding uh so you're gonna have to you know uh make friends and you know find them look look look yeah he'll turn and he'll look at nythera and be like we'll find them yeah we'll find them hard nod okay well good luck with you know the whole family thing and the good luck yeah no i appreciate it hey uh if you are gonna if if you'll do me that favor and get a couple of those minor items you mentioned uh we can either be back in town in a couple of weeks or just send somebody if you want yeah if you give me eight to ten days i could probably get what you need perfect that sounds amazing uh and he is uh wearing a glove so he will shake her hand rude but probably smart the dead cat thing's a joke but not like it's definitely like it might be the only reason she would shake his hand right like if she's that kind of paranoid she might not want skin to skin contact anyway yeah i mean not not so much a germaphobe just like uh i i barely survived this thing and now everyone thinks that i'm you know like you know any mage of renown is basically like did you have something to do with fucking us like this has got to really dissuade you know dispel those right concerns yeah right hey it's my 800th consecutive winter just like it's so she will shake your hand but it'll be kind of like a like deliberate it's like like one two three pumps done yeah that's fine he's fine with that all right great eight to ten days uh we or somebody on our behalf will be here to pick up the rest we'll uh we'll see if we can get you a couple extra coins too because uh we've got some cobwebs get it get somebody to clean up a little bit get some more cats get some work that's good yeah they they won't give me any more currently but i i imagine in i don't know a few months gold coins people are tossing a lot of the times it's it's kind of like mixed with something so this needs to be gold ore and then it's it's gonna have to be uh you know smelted and everything the rest of this you're looking at it's like okay yeah some of this is going to be the the werewolf shit's going to be a pain adam anti that i don't know where to get that uh the so you're going to need a an emerald and a topaz both of which need to be three inches around all the way at least and then they have to be cut and charged apparently right and charged after they're cut yeah you don't want to charge him before they're cut because yeah that's basically a hand grenade yeah it's like splitting it out of them yeah yeah um all right i don't think this is too out of hand we can do this yeah have this stuff we can find in the black market i bet first we gotta find a black market and we don't yeah we don't we don't need to find a werebeast we just need to find someone who has werebeast teeth attic which we didn't have access to in the apartment but it was full of dead squirrels and that was the smell yeah so yeah so those college and days apartments uh you know anyway there's uh nothing road yeah leave the dome well guys we oh there's so much to talk about i can't wait so we have a whole new travel system for for frostborn and uh this is going to really mix things up previously i would have you guys pick a die value and there'd be a whole and i i found that mostly through my many many many sessions with patreon groups that rpg players are mostly degenerate gamblers and i have had many a party wipe because someone picked a d100 as the travel die we're not doing that what we're doing now is every day you're on the road and most of your stuff is going to take a day to to do here you guys have the option of attempting activities while you're traveling and i'm gonna read all of these out and there's the second one i didn't know was a word i didn't know it was a term busking busking yeah oh to busk oh yeah yeah yeah what the fuck are you 11th century peasants why do people know that term busking is just playing or like reciting poetry and just waiting for people to toss you change i didn't know that had a name i thought it was panhandling no that's different if you live in a place that has a subway you know what busking is yeah so like even the guy playing drums on home depot buckets that's busking yeah absolutely yep yeah interesting all right yeah okay well anyway that's a thing you could do i don't know how much it's gonna help in wasn't gonna but now i am all four of us attempt to busk in the frozen tundra frozen wasteland we're just busking chimera is amazing at freestyle rap is it's very very good yes yeah take it away ian and it's crazy how great that that was and it got edited out isn't that crazy i don't know why yeah i don't know i'm just a fan i had to rhyme something i had to rhyme with something so right yeah no terrible i'm in dog or it's and you might be able to form a relationship over time but you know the animal's got to be kind of part you're not going to find a bengal tiger and it's like this is my kitty like it's right you know but you might be able to find a horse and have it help you or something like that busk we went over that you're just playing or an instrument or reciting stuff and people toss your coins chronicle an adventurer that spends their time writing down observations of local landmarks recording various customs or charting a map can make a history check for every one of these there's a crit failure a failure a success and a crit success these all give you things uh like obviously busking very simple right a crit failure and you might gain a reputation in the area that's like this guy fucking sucks stay with him and they might cross the street a crit success and it's like oh my god he plays the home depot bucket so well and they just hand you a bunch of money or someone gives you a record deal cook simple there's actual a cooking thing jasper it came three years too late but that's amazing cover tracks entertain gather components gossip harvest hunt and gather pray rob scout and track now if any of these uh stick out to you like it's okay i'd like to try that you can each try your own activity however if you do you cannot help with an activity i see got it and if you help with an activity you're giving that person a uh expertise die of d4 what so can you write yeah oh please i was just gonna ask if you could run through those one more time sure befriend animal busk chronicle cook cover tracks entertain gather components gossip harvest hunt and gather pray rob scout and track there's a lot of them but we'll get to know them over the most of them are pretty you know like you know what gossip is you know what you know um harvesting is going to be uh specifically for medicine you're refilling your medicine satchel and stuff like that so you're looking for medicinal herbs uh whereas gather components it's more for magic components and stuff which we are keeping track of now and then hunting and gathering is you know food yeah sure so they sound similar but they are different okay and if you'd like to look it up in your level up advanced fifth edition book it starts on page 60. oh i'll follow along at home oh and this book has bookmarks in it it has multiple bookmarks in it i'm going to use that so you guys are going to be traveling at a rate of two miles an hour unless otherwise stated that's slow but sometimes the snow gets up to like waist height and stuff it's going to slow you down which means you cover about 16 hours a day so it's going to take you two days to get to this place your your your fort okay would anyone like to try an activity or do you just want to hit the road and go that's a good question i mean i feel like there's we've got a a pretty clear place we're heading to so it's not like we're going to stop and busk along the way or anything especially out in a big blizzardy nightmare land nightmare scape but maybe a little bit of chronicling wouldn't be terrible for like mapping some stuff around i mean coming out of winter haven and this this place is well it's it's ours so uh i don't know i think i think ruby would probably jump on some chronicling just just uh you know mark down some landmarks and that kind of thing i was kind of thinking about covering tracks but i don't think it's necessary at this moment considering we're trying to set up a route to our fort like that's something that we want to do who keeps erasing the trail but in the future i think that's something night zero would do should we be tracking something else maybe scouting adds up scouting can't hurt like scouting will never hurt you unless you roll the one obviously yeah i mean if someone wants to help me with scouting i would be down for it because i don't think my skills are great for that one unless it's a perception check it's a perception check yeah so some of these are going to use different skills than you might think okay but this is their attempt at getting use out of all the skills instead of just perception and survival okay then i will uh nythira will scout a bit then and are you helping sure i'll help yeah absolutely then this is our first this is our first activity so let's set it let's set a bit of a scene here leaving winter haven is a bit of a bit of a thing it takes you know minutes because there's a big airlock that essentially they have to you know close you in and then you know there's a whole spiel it's like all right get ready because once we open this you got to leave quickly blah blah blah blah the temperature difference is going to be around you know a 35 to 40 degree drop unless the weather gets really bad right so you're going from about 20 to 25 degrees fahrenheit i will get the celsius down i will i will because the temperature is very crucial i'll do it but it it goes to around negative 15 negative 20 and it's it's it's windy like you feel it instantly it just hits you in the chest like you know how you're atlanta and you feel the heat's the opposite of that yeah so out on the road i'd say you're you know a couple of hours in you're far enough away from the city that you're like okay we might want to scout the area and just make sure that six degrees celsius thank you negative that would be negative six yeah oh wow so 20 degrees fahrenheit is negative six so then uh it'd be more than it'd be more negative uh if we took more negative at best it's below freezing anyway give me a perception check with a d4 expertise die as a bonus can do 14 that's not bad that's not bad at all the dc changes based on uh things like weather uh if you're being pursued if you're under stress if you know that kind of thing but right now it's it's it's it's pretty much as good as it can get like it's a bit windy outside it's overcast but it's not snowing it's it's really not bad so uh the dc was only 12 nice it's not bad so success the party automatically learns one region which adjoins the current region for each day spent during doing the journey activity additionally the party gains advantage on perception checks made against any attempt to surprise or ambush them during the period the adventure is scouting yeah so yeah so you're on the hill looking around you know that you're gonna get advantage if anything tries to jump you again it's pretty it's pretty decent around here the area around the city is patrolled after the first day you're probably going to lose that benefit but right now that's great i'm gonna give you guys a region map too as soon as it's done daniel of daniel's maps is redoing stuff i just got to pay him for updates and he's redoing stuff it's i'm so glad because his stuff is great okay it's great it's amazing quick question jason hit me what is the date today oh good good good good good good good it is the third of altaorn we're all diligent note takers got my legal pad filled with notes uh 1378 if you needed that time is going to be advancing much more quickly than it usually does for the show one because there's just one group and two travel takes a long time instead the travel die going by hours it's days so yeah uh you wanted to chronicle the area too try to get a little map going yeah why not you know like yeah feels like it's the right thing to do right yeah yeah you'll make yourself useful so this is where the skill checks get a little weird give me a history check oh yeah interesting okay history check all right so this also gives you insight into the cultures of the area and stuff like that all right all right oh what's that there oh no okay well that's that's a five total i'm not great we got to talking is the thing you couldn't really focus we were just talking and we were drinking too to be fair that's probably what happened so here's the cool thing you you know a five isn't going to do it you just don't do the thing that's it that's your penalty yeah now a crit fail and you got a problem because there are crit fail tables and crit success tables for skills now and i'll be adding to those as the campaign goes on because i get bored easily and i love a good table so i need constant simulation or i die like a shark six hours into this wasp bugger is like let me see what you got there and he takes a look at he's like ruby she and she and chimera have been like drawing like like doodling on the doing that thing where you yeah you like draw one thing and then pass it to the next person they draw something else embellish yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah for the first 10 minutes it was a map and then it turned into an ad libs and mad libs look it's a cat like the one we saw stop naming the dead cats and then night comes back from over a hill so i've assessed the area and there are no immediate threats we're good for the next few miles what are you guys doing don't ask here drawing having fun yeah i know it's a foreign concept to you nathira uh hand me that drink stay warm i need a lucky volunteer because this is where things get sticky you're gonna have to roll a d100 now let's let's let's explain the d1 hovered the d100 covers lots of stuff there are four major things that you're gonna run into on the road there are weather events there's good old combat events you know you're gonna get your fair share of that there's exploration events and social events you're gonna get to know all of them as the campaign goes but all of them give you xp all of them as long as you do them successfully gotcha gotcha i think our leaders should roll the first d100 yeah i second that okay i was gonna say susan but i but that's you're fine you're right you can touch her just jumping out from the snow it was an ambush thereafter our booze we are literally 10 feet outside of the gates that stupid goblin is what it is oh my gosh so let's talk about dragons for a moment hold on hold on okay hold on hold on it's level appropriate calm down is so dragons have got a just they've had a really good century for the most part uh the dragonborn have reunited all color types and and there's even rumors that the green dragonborn are coming back through uh some project that they're doing i don't know that's on the east coast that's an east coast problem every everyone of dragon descent is welcome in or rash now including kobolds kobolds have gotten a bit of a chip on their shoulder because this while they were welcomed they started showing up in the last 15 to 20 years and now they're kind of they're kind of walking around big dick swinging even though they are kobolds susan has something to say everyone look at susan oh no susan would you like to run the session every time i'm trying to stop a sneeze i click that damn button i'm so sorry guys oh it's fine it's hilarious okay that's what i had to say click the wrong button sneeze into the mic anyway everyone look at me as i sneeze perfect oh god so kobolds kind of walk around with a sense of entitlement and they still speak very but they speak very broken common but basically they speak enough common to say give me that i want things like that they think they belong to the master race now and they can get anything just by walking up so it will not be uncommon to see a small pack of kobolds just like puffed out chest walking down you know even though the snow comes up to their their their chest and neck and stuff sometimes and they in this case have sized you up and they think it would be a pretty cool thing to just murder you or at the very least beat the living shit out of you to prove that they are great warriors by beating four randos in a snow field so uh yeah uh nythira knew of course they were there the whole time yeah i warn you guys hey there's kobolds up there they doing that always yeah i think they're gonna throw down yeah that vince mcmahon walk that yeah picture them doing like the ace venturo walk i instantly pictured that scene of him coming out of the rhino that is not a walk if we stumble across that oh yeah that's a story beat right that's got to be like yeah i think we just sit down and pass the bottle around and watch yeah i'm not gonna help i don't want to stop them there's not a lot of entertainment here on the road is this busking yeah throw some coins so busking i've been hearing so much about throw a coin to your rhino there are three kobolds two of which just appear to be you know regular there's no special armor there's no identifying insignias there's always you know a loose coloration type of thing sometimes they'll wear different color bandanas based on you know descendants of you know if they're red dragon born that type of thing but uh nothing like that there is one that is essentially holding its hand over a torch over and over again and like almost snuffing it out and then ha and then almost stuff like it out like he's very interested in it guys if you would right click on yourselves and toggle yourself for combat can do can do look at us at the top oh yeah big old pictures at the top that's gonna that's even with a minus two okay well it was a 12 so uh so humbly so let's just do the fire damage it already calculated in the minus two so that'll be 12 fire damage now it's half on a success but you're a tiefling so it's half of half right i have resistance to fire damage too i would imagine you're all dwarfy so uh yeah okay well shit you got to take six damage though so we'll get it i'm sorry like there's nothing i could do i guess my answer tied oh oh you killed me i was doing it sorry six hit points for a second shit um i had uh okay do you do this we do math no i'm nervous you do it you had five left because you had 11 and then six yeah sorry uh good perfect that's the end of his turn regular ass kobold's gonna run up here and take a swing at nythira uh it's called shiv so this is this damage okay am i gonna do it unless you have to do it i'm gonna do it okay and logran yeah so logran's pretty annoyed he's gonna he's gonna plant a shield uh because he can do that as a free action and then uh commanding presence he's gonna tell nythira to hit that kobold back salute and then stab or try attempt to stab you don't have to stop and look at me it's fine she doesn't even look as she steps let's see how well that goes yeah if you if you know look stab this kobold that's gonna be pretty cool little 360 no scope on this for no reason okay i hope when she shows off damn okay doesn't look salutes you with one hand stabs with the other hand you're gonna bloody the shit out of this kobold too like it like i thought oh oh like it's like one of you is way better with a knife and uh then just quickly slits its throat as it's falling to the ground blood's flirting everywhere steps over its corpse to its buddy and then takes out another dagger oh that's ice cold i can picture it like just just yeah oh you made me activator now you guys are gonna pay for it 13 hits uh that is two damage you just love to see a professional at work and avoid the blood spilling out of that one kobold somehow you probably have practice with that yeah yeah ruby so to that point so chimera is like oh you just love to see it and ruby's the whole time she's just been watching this happen kind of dissociated from the actual combat and like oh my god yeah like this is amazing and then then realizes that she needs to do something too she's going to um come right up on over here after the pyromaniac after the pyromaniac um as she's going she's going right as she starts to to move she's gonna to use her her wrist ballista and she's gonna to do like a little sling at him and then she's gonna run towards him basically is the point so let me get i moved first i didn't mean to do that come on never apologize just keep going i'm trying did i just do that yes yeah that's a 14 baby that hits and oh shit that is six damage bludgeoning fantastic well uh that's her that's her action and and her move uh but she's gonna use her bonus unarmed strike so she's gonna go straight once again with an unarmed right in his face oh damn uh 20 will hit three more bludgeoning damage that's it that brings us to chimera uh chimera is gonna say some words under his breath um words of infernal and i'm gonna curse this uh cobalt that nythira is is stabbing um as a bonus action good good she needed the help uh i appreciated as always yeah let me i'm gonna put it on here but i think we've done this before i think you have to put this on the creature unless it showed up i threw it in the thing or maybe i cursed myself again which is also a possibility this time yeah all you gotta do is hit the little insignia at the bottom yeah it's targeted and uh oh wait that's the wrong one never mind that is the wrong one there you go now it's cursed that's a cursed cobalt baby yeah and then so he said he just says you know it's like and then nythira duck sweetie and then he's gonna shoot a eldritch ray at this at this cobalt nythira is going to do that type of like duck that happens in like marvel movies like one hand down the leg goes straight out and then the most impractical duck but it's hot yeah you have to get out of the way for a cobalt to get hit also yeah that's a spider man this is right and total show-offing yeah like almost really just a stretch moment yeah oh and i forgot teen hits awesome uh yeah it's got force damage i forgot to to do the uh the fire damage that is a part of the curse damage so let me just roll an extra d4 there you can jesus add that on 12 is gonna really kill this cobalt yeah i don't know if it stays cursed in death but uh yeah well when it dies oh i think i get to do something here oh yeah when it dies i regain hit points but oh yeah yeah based on my uh you lost a modifier yeah modifier plus warlock level so modifier modifier two that's yeah thank you yeah two yeah one so three i got three hit points back which is the three you lost yes uh life there's like a there's sort of like a like shadowy hand that just sort of like comes up and just sort of like underneath the cobalt and like just sort of like snakes around it and then dips down into the ground and then sort of like like sort of wipes up over uh chimera's neck just sort of like like like sort of a strangulation but just sort of like wiping and then fades away and like a gentle choke yes exactly yeah i hear you i see where you're going the the fire damage sort of like he goes away i i so audible like this would everyone would be able to hear this you almost hear like a like a lick type of sound like there you go pretty baby like just kind of uh you know because just because it's it's it's exactly the amount of hit points you lost it's like oh god closes the door you know that type of thing like it's exactly we all throw up in our mouths a little bit a little bit uh someone's gonna by the end of this campaign he's gonna get dirty with it uh yeah that's the end of round one which means we're re-rolling for round two hey nythyris leading us off then we got our cobalt uh arsonist i know he's an artillerist he's an arsonist i like arsonists better that sounds cooler he has hobbies um from her crouch nythira springs over the corpse in front of her and jumps up next to ruby and stabby stab oh let's see oh shit that was almost a one again well 17 will definitely hit and another five damage to mr cobalt oh wait no um no i should probably roll the uh the sneak attack first shouldn't i because i have an ally within five feet of me you do uh as this is happening ruby is gonna just offhandedly say to the cobalt she's gonna point at nythira and say you don't realize what an honor this is this is actually really cool for you i'm a little bit jealous so altogether she did the marvel duck thing did you get it but altogether eight damage from that dagger and then other dagger whips up with her off hand oh yeah you get two of those okay oh that was almost another one eleven's gonna miss that's okay it's you have a perfect record intact right now you could use your other inspiration and just should i yeah okay might as well i guess like i picture it moving so fast no one even notices that you miss like it's just like a flourish 16 hits yeah so with one dagger she comes up the other one the the cobalt like is taken aback by ruby statement like ah and then uh as it tilts its head nythira misses but then scissors back with the offhand blade two damage is just enough to kill this cobalt that takes you guys out of your very first combat congratulations no one asked me how do i target once i am so fucking proud of you so proud you just did it i saw the little dots appear oh like a proud papa i like to imagine that logran didn't put the bottle down the whole time yeah so he like literally slams a shield in the ground tells nythira to do it and like takes away well just like from behind his shield it's just blood and cobalt fire and blood um he's annoyed because he got burned and even though he's not the only one who got burned he didn't get the demon caressed to get his hit point that's true like well glad they waited out here for somebody that's the the first thing that ruby would do i think this is going to be the case no matter what based on this blizzardy winter that they all live in and all i'm sure this kind of stuff kind of just happens all they're used to this just immediately starts looking for healing potions anything about like uh resistance to cold just everybody's got something money just whatever just immediately starts rummaging around uh yeah you're gonna find a little gold you're gonna find 10 gold uh and you know that's that's about it they they weren't really high rollers yeah so we're breaking a lot of taboos um for dnr we're changing a lot of stuff obviously the system change is you know never even pushed for so yeah i'm sure that happens a lot um so eventually you guys are gonna have to stop the day you get your 16 miles in and uh you're gonna set up camp and it's gonna be cold now every night when you guys bed down we're assuming a few things one we're assuming that you're rotating guard you know a couple of hours split up we're assuming all that you're all getting a long rest every time we do this unless you're under duress something otherwise states but really it's not it's not that dissimilar from you know 5e it's really not a big deal so a quick thing during camp uh just to kind of establish because it's a little bit of a character thing but as a dwarf in this system logran has something called creator's blessing which means that if he chooses to instead of sleeping during a long rest he can actually craft so what he tends to do when everybody beds down he's he actually sits up and works doesn't mean he's able to sleep no it says instead of sleep you imagine you imagine in that that throughout the days maybe he like nods off here and there he basically catches up on sleep throughout the throughout what i don't know life i guess this guy just never stops um and then nythira as an elf only has to do a trance so she meditates for four hours and then doesn't suffer any penalty to perception even when she's in that trance this is where you all tell me none of you need to sleep and you all have eight eyes i mean i still don't like i can't take watch during that time like he's focused but that's interesting i i'm yeah okay yeah so and it might be one of those things where like flavor wise he's effectively up crafting the whole time i almost said crapping he's crapping the whole time that is a lot of work for him in his diet uh but the but uh no it's just he's probably mixing in little little cat naps and stuff but he basically sits up and he he's a stone carver so he sits up and he has basically like apple shaped stones that he carries uh sized stones anyway that he carries with him and he's working on something whenever there's downtime basically hmm all right hmm all right so let's talk about fatigue and strife fatigue is the physical toll things take on you running all day over exerting yourself exposure to cold weather unlike exhaustion exhaustion was kind of a not fun system the second you got one level of exhaustion it was kind of a big pain in the ass so fatigue and strife are the physical and mental stress that your character can go through and it goes from one to seven seven you go dead or insane so every night you're out in the cold like this camping you're gonna suffer one fatigue now that goes away if you take an entire day to rest you can get rid of up to two levels of fatigue every day you do that but time is of the essence and obviously if you rest in a haven or somewhere safe or warm you can recover more than two so it's just a system to make sure that you take care of yourselves a bit and if there's something that happens at night where there's some boon or you're able to keep an entire you know campsite warm then the fatigue really doesn't bite at you so a regular you're setting up tents and stuff in this weather it's it's not a very restful sleep but half you motherfuckers don't have to sleep anyway so i don't know ruby and kamira like honk shoe peas 100% canonically ruby snores like loud if you would all give yourselves one level of fatigue at the top of your character sheet around your beautiful art oh i would but you see i have what's called a marathon runner from my heritage i can ignore one level of fatigue per long rest so i'm gonna ignore that have a long rest and start over the next day sure that's your you know i'm an orc fuck you there you go so when we click on the rest button i am i'm unchecking resting in haven and unchecking recover fatigue and strife then yes that is true yes cool oh strife you will get back because weather doesn't affect your mental state really all that much this is more touching and sense yeah i know i know this is more touching insanity like this kind of like you know yeah and the first level of fatigue for everyone wondering is you cannot run no sprinting no dashing no you know so that's it nothing crazy reasonable now unless you guys want to do anything at night here we can fast forward to day two if you want but we got a nice little campfire i imagine you're as sheltered as you can be sometimes you get lucky and find some rocks or a cave or something yeah um i don't have anything specific aside from my my hobby no i think at some point ruby would have insisted that we're saving the good liquor for when we get to the to the fort so hands off chimera he's like putting the bottle back in the i just wanted to smell it it's good actually she's already had some it's good you had already had some too logrin and nythera hide their glasses of it we all agreed that we were going to save it and all of us have snuck in this all tasted it yeah nythera is is meditating yes for four hours okay i'm just gonna do a thing real quick it's an elf thing you wouldn't understand it's not a phase mom so i'd say about three hours into your four-hour meditation you're gonna feel tiny hands on your arms kind of tugging at your cloak just kind of kind of like patting down around you just gently and you're not in deep enough you know meditative trance that you don't feel that but the first couple of times you're like it's like a raccoon is that like you know like did something sneak up on the camp and then it starts trying to get into your pockets see here's the here's the dichotomy of being a role player sure susan wants to have a pet goblin because why not sure because who doesn't yeah but nythera would not you could just let him run your pockets my hero would not allow that that's fair it's fair i didn't figure he's just looking for candy if it makes you feel any better i figured um could my theory understanding that these are small hands and then probably even she would put together that it was following her she probably clocked it all the way through winter haven right up until they left that that little thing was following her yeah like a slightly cuter like like i yeah i guess it would be a slightly cuter smeagol like just kind of you know and she probably saw it while scouting too and didn't feel like mentioning it because it's so far beneath her notice that it's not even worth mentioning to the group yeah it didn't seem dangerous so nythera with that logic that this thing is just not even a blip on her radar she's going to sweep one arm behind and try to gather both of its wrists and throw it in front of her like into the group like don't touch me but go over there give me an athletics check the dc is not going to be very high i'm going to tell you right now we're looking for an 11 let's see i got a minus one looking good guys well the only thing saving him is he's he's a little he's a little tiny yeah you know little tiny guy he's just a little guy just just a little guy just a little guy looking for candy oh baby man man little baby me uh 13 yeah so you're gonna just like deftly just one thing just so he'll he'll kind of be tossed more toward the fire but obviously not in the fire yeah but like kind of hit kind of hit the snow and just skid a little bit logran's up we know and honestly that probably means that that that chimera and ruby get a full night's sleep every night why have why stand why i would be pissed if someone suggested it's like wait you don't need to sleep but i got to stand watch for two fuck you like i'm working on this rock though he's right i'm making a miniature i'm excited to see what it turns out every morning it's always something different it's really cool half the time it's his family crest like it's not it's like he's got a bag of them at this point you leave them at every yeah it's like your business card he gives them to cinnamon yeah but he did just recently get into the isiarc bone reapers so like you'll probably see a few of those i got a some it's a lot of models and that's it it's a lot of skin i got the bone wash it's fine so so yeah logran like looks up from what he's doing and he just kind of like looks at night there he's like was that in your bag and nythera before he went to before logram responded she was going to go back to meditating like had her hands back on her knees and like closed her eyes like okay nuisance taken care of but then logran asks her that as she opens one eye looks at logran no closes her eyes again so there's a couple of different types of goblins uh cave goblins are are much lankier and stretched out pale this little guy's like a bright green his arms are so short it doesn't touch the top of his head it's a design flaw honestly so he he almost looks like like a plushie almost like he it's like how do you live like you can't and the answer is not in the wild this particular sect of goblins are very you know they're very small very um they're they're mostly carnivores but only meat they find not kill uh they're not very good at it and uh they found out recently you know just because of being allowed in cities that they have quite the sweet tooth so this thing's gonna hit the ground just kind of like skid and just like scramble and then stand stock still take wide eyes looking and he thinks he's invisible right now like if he doesn't move like i hope it stays that way for the rest of your meditation actually yep so logran knows that walnut there is meditating like that's her rest and she needs it right otherwise she's cranky so yeah you don't want her to be i need her in her best mood so what he's gonna do for as long as this goblin thinks it's invisible is every time it moves he's gonna look up from what he's doing we're gonna play red light green light for the rest of the night if it stops working he'll change tactic but for as long as it works he will literally just keep it there well i mean it's one more hour of meditation that's what i mean like he can at least you know i genuinely think i i think the shelf life on this is probably an hour not because he's going to figure it out just because he's going to get bored and even if you were a predator that would kill him it's better than doing nothing because yeah yes goblins are riddled with adhd they're just like ah fuck it like just i've lived a good life so he'll probably actually start to like kind of like creep up to logran just kind of like like okay you're kind of an interesting guy you get going on like just and hold up its hands it's like not a threat just kind of like walking in how long into our red light green light does it start doing that i think 30 minutes in he's going to start creeping towards you but the red light green light continues for another 30 before it's just like just kind of like a step and then yeah yeah yeah so all right every time you look it's like he's closer yeah the problem is is that he's trying because it is a rest for logran too like he kind of he needs that this is his rest right so this is interrupting him so he eventually oh shit you're trying to paint minis and the kids are getting involved i know i only make characters with different experiences that i get to so eventually he goes he puts down his tools and he turns he goes what grandpa he's real happy about like he's he's just like grimble like you didn't hear him the first time that's fine yeah and he goes yeah all right i heard you um can you work candy oh god he he starts looking through his bags like i don't have any goddamn candy in here everybody i got something and then like it gets close and he like moves it back yeah yeah because he would try to put his little hands on your like just not to pull it just like look in it's like okay and so he'll do that like like two face pushes and then logger and lost his patience and he goes no candy go away he's nice night he's posing it like a question like he's trying to like he's like pinching the bridge of his nose all right there's no candy what do you want and he's like trying to like you're you're area the area ahead of you there's some very deep snow and towards the center there's a path but it runs up against this bright green lake very very strange and obviously you can investigate this lake a bit but it's giving off of there's there if you do just a vibe check it's giving off bad vibes man like it's you don't like it but obviously avoiding that would mean adding a bit of extra time and probably an extra level of fatigue by trudging through snow so the path brings us up what on around the shore of the lake almost in it like the the it's right up against and yeah there's nasty bits of like jagged rock and stuff otherwise but yeah you can skirt around the lake or you can no it's not frozen it is not frozen it is a it yeah you can even see it break under that there are fish living in it you can see them hmm can be some kind of like arcana check on it or like sense you said bad vibes is it like a bad magical vibe or just like this is just a weird thing dude here's the thing poke
