Now, last time on Frostborn, Logrin handed out some stern talkings to that left the entire crew a little bruised emotionally.

Chimera wrestled with crafting a cure for aura's. Let's call it rat canthropy. I don't know. And Ruby suffered the gravest wound of all being jolted awake mid-snore by Nithera. There's no telling if she'll ever recover. This time, however, we're racing to catch up with the caravan, hoping that safety in numbers is still a thing. But first, we've got to deal with some harpies. They've got wings, a lot of charm, and very poor timing. So we go to Tadalan, wing to steel. We fight some harpies. Anyway, take it away, Massey. Oh, let's do that thing, where we go around the table and introduce ourselves.

I'm Jason, I'm the dungeon master. Going around the table. Starting with Susan. Hi, I'm Susan Spanator. My pronouns are she her, and I will be playing Nythierar the Elven Rogue. And Ian. Hey, I'm Ian. Any pronouns good? And I am playing chimera, the Teafling Warlock. And Jameson. I am Jameson. I play Logren, Cragborn, the Dwarven Marshall. And last and certainly not least, Mr. Jasper, I finished the fucking book, Perminter. Everybody. It's true. Oh, my God. I mean, I... He deserves the coup. What's the squint? James. What was that? You look like you were disgusted. What?

There's something off-screen. I just resting-disgusted face. Don't work. It's just my first thing. Resting disgust face. Yeah. It looked like you saw two Pippins high-fiving. Like that, not anything that's in the call. It was just something. Oh, there is that look. There is. See? There is. Sorry. Well, with all that in mind, the book, I did finish the book, but I carried it across the finish long way. I didn't do all the book. I just finished the last part of it. Oh, just shut up and take the compliment. It seconds me when people just don't take the compliment. I take the compliment.

In any case, I'm Jasper. I play Ruby Petigrew, the Half-Oak, Gears Slinger, Adept. Well, there's been a lot of fighting recently. And today is no exception. The end of the last episode, we had Nithira and Vetti getting pulled into some harpies singing, which thematically is very nice, but not great for, you know. You're two roads. You're two damage hitters. Yeah, two of the lowest in terms of hit points in the party. And probably AC as well. Yeah, this ain't great. Okay, well, anyway, you guys should see a map. See a map. Yes. Oh, wow. There's a lot of boobies on screen.

That's a lot of harpies. Now, the good news is, the ones with red rings are harpy elders, and they're tougher, and they're meaner, and they can do more stuff. And the ones with black rings are younger harpies, and they have... You know, way fewer hit points. Do less damage, but still dangerous. Everybody, do you may favor? Right click. Right click on your character. And, oh boy, and talking to your combat state. There's no combat. I knew it. Damn it. There, now do it. Yeah. And Vetti and Nythera are going to roll with disadvantage. I know I know Disadvantage Do do do Oh well, two right roles All right, God Whoa BAMB Oh, Nibbys save me Let's see here Did you know the collective noun for a group of Harkis Harpies is a clamor.

Oh. It's a clamor. We got a clamor. Yeah, they are a clamor. It could be like a chorus. Chorus is nice. Course is good. Can we vote to change that? Do we have that authority? I don't know. Who names things? Put me in charge of who names things. I have a joke. Michael. Let me in touch with Michael. That's a son of a bitch. That's good Michael and the call. Ruby, you're kicking us off. God dang it. A little bit too far away from me to do the things I want to do. But what I, what Ruby's going to do is, all right, let's set the scene really quickly. So we're heading out here all of a sudden.

Nithera and Vetti just kind of go a little cuckoo just start kind of wandering off a little bit. Clearly under some sort of something. So a spell or time or something like that. It's very gradual. Like if you pick it up on the wind, then it's one of those things where it's already kind of getting in your brain. So they just start, as you guys are cresting up this hill, they just start breaking off to the right. And by the time everybody goes, oh, where are you guys going? Like, you're already like 30, 40 feet away. Okay. All right. So. Well, okay. Have we seen the harpies?

Are we clear? Is it clear? Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. Once they get who they're going to get, you'll see them kind of start fluttering out of bushes and things like that, trees and stuff. And it, yeah. All right. So Ruby's going to realize that they've kind of peeled off. She's going to like, what, huh? She's going to slap logger. on the on the on the shoulder and point it'd be like there's there's a whole lot of them there's a bunch of them look over there look over there and then she's gonna just start running over towards vetti and Nythera I think she's gonna run over close to get to get to get to them oops I didn't do that right hey on do do do do running over here oh I can't move I can't I move is your token select on Well, you know, where are you measuring?

I'm measuring and that's the reason. How do I make that stop? You click token control all the way up top on the left. Little guy, little bust. I'm trying. Right. I don't think I did it, but I'm going to try anyway. I did. Yeah. All right. She runs up to 30 feet. She's going to get close to them and she's going to train her eye on that harpy elder that is likely the one that's pulling them towards her. her or towards them. And she's going to use her wrist balista and try to to knock it off. Somehow. Did I? Yeah, did. And I'm going to go ahead and add my expertise diet that I can do once a day.

Probably a good time to use it because I'm awesome. Sure. Oh yeah. And that's a crit. Ladies and gentlemen, that's how we're starting. We're going to start with a crit. And also because I've got my double-shot combat maneuver, it means that I can range weapon attack you make that uses two missiles. So there's going to be two shots that are going to go off from her wrist ballista. She's been upgrading over time. As she always, you know, fixes things and, you know, sure. Sure. Two missiles, instead of one on a hit, ideal, additional weapon damage die. So. Did you just roll a 31?

Yeah. To start the night off? Yeah. What? Is that number? No. Okay. All right. So we've got some bludgeoning damage. Do I get another? I need to get some more damage on there. Right? No. That's... Oh, wait. Let's see. Did it already roll? It's just 1d4 plus... No, so it needs a second bolt. So roll damage again. But, you know, a crit. How do I roll damage? Just roll damage and you double it. That's all. Like, it's super easy. Boom. All right. So she's, yeah, so she's like, no. And as she runs, before she even stops running, she's going to fire off two bullets, I guess. She's going to effectively.

They're like metal little ball bearings. Bam, bam. trying to get some attention off of this thing. So that maybe that'll give them a little bit of some grace here. That's 30 damage. Right off the bat. Do you want to roll a D6? See if we're rolling on that crit table, sir? Six. Yeah, we're doing it. Yeah. So finishing that book, gave you that BDE coming in here. Swimming. We all deserve a little bit of that. Not from me. I mean, individually. We deserve all that. Okay. I'll take it where I can get it. It's fine. Alright. I'm on the 100, D20. D20. D20. Yeah. D20 right now.

Yeah. 7. In addition to standard critical hit damage to your target, you get a plus 2 to your A.C against attacks from the target until the end of your next turn. What's that one called? Does that have a title or a little? Perry! So... That almost killed this other. That's bloodied. Don't... Don't through with us. They don't... No. I'm gonna say because of that, she stopped singing. I don't think she has a lot to sing about. And I think that's gonna break the spell. There's no saving thrown in. Because I'm helping her too. So, congrats. I mean, this is... I imagine that this is...

With a crit, I'll give a little description here. Please. This is... Forehead Temple perfect shot. Like she's been really honing this thing down. She's got double shot out of it. She's like, no, I got this. And it's gonna perfect shot not to kill, but to, it's gonna be a ringing, like a bell inside that Harpy's head. Jesus. Okay. Okay. Oura. Oh boy. Okay. Well. Okay. Okay. So lessons have been learned, right? You know, we're kind of keeping things close to the main group. Obviously, doesn't want anything to happen to make their vetty, but things seem okay right now.

So we're just going to do ranged attack, just a simple, like we're just going to... She's got a sling and she's going to use it. It works. Oh, shit. Okay. Well, that is a dirty 20. Three damage. That bloodies the young Harpy here. I always picture kind of metal ball bearings in a sling. So it seems like, it's like, oh, a sling's not so bad. That's, I mean, that's got to hurt like a fucker. So, also, because it's a new day, I'm going to roll at E20 for glimpse the future. Ooh, a 10. That's not incredibly helpful, but that can get rid of a crit one way or the other.

Baz is up. Gonna move over here next to Logren. As always. And fire a dart. And roll a two. Not incredible. Harpies. Harpies, harpies. We're going to move over here to Chimera and give a claw. Oof, that's probably not going to hit, right? A nine? Almost does. But no, it does this. You're not known for your tankiness, you know. Oh, hang on, hang on. As a reaction, I'm going to do cast arcane repost. When a creature makes a melee attack against you, I can use a reaction. Oh. So let me do this. So this claw comes out and it's like, And Kimira, like, ducts away a little bit like, oh, Jesus.

And then almost like, as he moves away, something like a shadow hand almost lashes out forward in front of him to bat at the, at the heartbeat. Does that hit? Oh. Oh, that just hits the heartbeat. Oh, my God, that's a 12. Yeah, it's kind of low, but all right, cool. And that's it. It's just a reaction. So yeah. Oh, do I got to put the damage in here or do it? No, that's so... That'll kill the harpy. One shot. Killed it. Nice. Woof. Oh. Oh. I feel like we're coming off of that, uh, where rat queen, you know, we're like, it's like, it's like we've been lifting a lot of weights and then we pick up a glass.

So water's like, oh, that's really easy. Like, we're just pounding really hard. Like, don't hurt me. We've taken the gold track suit up. Yeah. So that's one harpy just gone. That's good. Next harpy, moving in and attacking aura. Oh, damn. I am rolling like garbage today. Uh, that is a three for a total of six, gonna miss. I have a reaction. Oh, yeah, you are standing next to her. Yeah, so after a creature within your reach makes a melee attack against an ally, you can use a reaction and make an athletics check against the creature's maneuver DC. On a success, you shove the creature 10 feet away and move 10 feet in that direction.

She does not put both an opportunity attacks. Okay, so here comes an athletics check. 10 feet's almost your entire move. That's a lot. Right? This is I think how I get normal movement. is they just shove stuff around. That's push. Yeah. Effective movement. Yeah. Okay. Oh. Well, that's a seven. Totally. Okay. That's okay. Worth it. They're floaty, you know? They're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're got hollow bones, but they're, you know. He's way up there. What am I supposed to do? Time mirrors up. Oh, it was me. Okay. Well, okay. Okay. On a point at this, uh, this harpy, sort of right in front of me.

And so like brushes off the the harpy feathers and stuff like that from this one that just got, uh, got a clawed. Yeah. Just, ugh. Point at that one and speak some words in infernal that sort of like echo out across this canyon or this, you know, tundra wherever we are. I'm going to put a curse on that. through some diabolic curse. This is against the elder? Yes, the elder, yeah. So she's cursed. She's cursed, yeah. That's just a bonus action. And then he's going to slap his hands together and start bringing them apart as if there's like force and it's going to be like arcane energy sort of like swirling and sucking in.

And it's like he's like pulling apart his hands as if they were, if they were magnets and in. between a large infernoe ball is going to start like swirling and coalescing and coming together. And this big flaming sphere is going to form out in between his hands. And then he is going to just like push it away from his body. It goes spinning and whirling towards this harpy. So it's making a Dex saving throw. and it like punches into the creature and ends up like right in front of them, basically. Shit, a 15. Damn. Okay, well, let's see. Dex save. Oh, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, no, no, no, no, no, no.

Eight. Okay, so it looks like it's taken seven fire damage, but it's also taken a little bit more. Let's see. It is an additional D4. Yeah. Yeah. I didn't get to add it. I didn't have a little choice to add that on the on the thing. So I'll just roll it up here. So 10 in all 10 fire damage. Okay. Boom. And... And... Oh, I don't like it. Yeah. And I'm just going to stay right here and that'll be my turn. Well, that brings up logging. All right, we're going to hit this harpy that's up in Oro's face here. Orhammer it. That's a 16. 16 hits. Okay. Eight. So you're going to come down and just slam this hammer right in between her shoulder blades and just cruncher. like just falls to the ground dead.

Good. All right. So he's going to use inspiring leader once per round. When you make a successful melee attack roll, you can choose a number of creatures equal to half your charisma modifier within your commanding presence. Chosen creatures gain and expertise die on their first attack until the start of my next turn. So what is half my charisma modifier? It's two. So I get to pick one person. Okay. It's 15. That's a two, right? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. So I'm going to give the attack bonus to ORA. And I'm also going to, as a bonus action, Mark Foe, on the harpy that Camer just attacked.

Which, anybody who attacks that is also going to get an expertise die. Nice. Well, shit. Okay. This is well-oiled machine type stuff. Get her. Damn, that one. All right, we got a couple of elders going. All right. So this Harpy is going to, this is the one that was singing, right? So just got rocked, just got bludgeoned in the skull. It's going to move back and then swoop forward and just rake these claws outward. So she's going to roll a flat attack. and make a B-line right through Betty and Ithera. So. What is that? D20 plus 3. Nope, that's not going to do anything.

Jesus, I can't roll above a four today. So. I know that feeling. Never mind. That's about to say it in here. So, so. Just manages to slalom between the two of you, basically, both you and Vettie. You're like, whoa, like, that's nothing hits. Just for flavor purposes. As any time this harpy is moving, Ruby is tracking with her wrist ballista. Like, she's basically ready to shoot as she reloads. If it hit her in the head, too, I can't imagine. There isn't some dizziness and some... It's like, whoa, okay, there might be four of you there now. Oh, there's harpy, the one that's cursed.

Huh. Gonna move in here and attack both Ora and Chimera. Uh, Chimera first with a claw. Shit, that one. It's max damage. 7.3020. And one for ORA. Even runner is a hit, but less damage. 3. 21. Damn. It's like a spinning whirlwind just comes in and like, get them both in one move, like, speaking of which, Nithera's up. So Nithira's up. So Nithira comes out of this, out of this haze. And usually there's like a clinicalness, to when she's in a fight. There's like no emotion. It's just I kill things now. But now she's furious because her will was taken away from her.

And this look of fury overcomes her. And she goes to, it almost looks like she's going to punch this harpy in front of her, but it's her new Fasson's gauntlet. That pops out as she's wipes at it. So let's do that. Do you do public a sneak attack because Betty's next to me, Carver, because this is a dagger. And roll. 22 hits! Yes. That's a dead-ass heartbeat. That 15 points of damage. So she just actually stat-like right through the heart. Just right into its heart. And then I... Like, I would imagine it's almost stuck into, like, it's just like, like, limp-risted feather movements.

You know what I mean? Yeah, like, oh, maybe she was like, she does like an uppercut and she tears it out through like the shoulder and up. And then turns around and barrels on the other one. Still furious. I would be too. Yeah, that's fair. No sneak attack, but I do get Carver because offhand is dagger. So in her other hand is just her regular ass dagger. That'll hit for more damage. And she just swipes at it as this herpes dizzie, dizzily landing. Like, she'll just like take a swipe and probably hit it on its arm as it tries to move away. Oh boy. But that is ninth year's turn.

Other harpy. Just a regular harpy. No shame and running away, Harpy. Yeah, run away, harp. You'll be the new elder if you run away. Yes. I honestly, it's just going to run it, Chet. Probably thinking, well, okay, he's got a big sword. Probably, like, I could dodge that. That's fine. But, uh, claw. Oh, whoa. Okay, that was almost a crit. 11 is not gonna do it. Chet's turn. Okay. Okay. This is that maybe Chet can and redeem himself a little bit here. Great sword. Come on, Chet. Oh, there we go. Yep. 23. That hits 13 slashing damage and that is a dead harpy. Oh, he's healed up.

Mm-hmm. Yeah, just... At least to swing the sword once. Probably gives a cheer, like, just to encourage him after the, after the film, like, he's like, yeah. You know, real dad at a baseball game. As is probably looking over and like, are you hurt? Like, yeah, because it's not usually your... Feddy. Fettie's kind of pissed. because there's enough going on without... You know what I mean? Just walking head first into danger. You know what I mean? And... But also kind of the excitement of combat where it looks like we have things well in hand. So she's going to try a thing.

And she's going to come up behind Night Thera and just kind of like pattern on the back. It's like duck down. And she's going to try to roll. over your back and stab. Yes. Can I assist? She's learning. Yeah. Just it's going to be an athletics check with the with a D4 if you're cooperating, yeah. Can it be acrobatics? This feels like an acrobatic. Well, she's not jumping. It's more like a, it's like rolling over the hood of a car. Acrobatically. Yeah. Yeah. She's also trained in athletics. Well, then never mind. It's athletics for sure. I'm not. I'm not helping. I guess.

I guess. If I do I have to roll if it's athletics? No. Oh, okay. No, no, no. This is like, hey, are you, are you, are you resisting or not, basically? So this is just, yeah. Okay. Holy shit. Okay. Yeah. That worked. That's a 24. Okay. So she's just going to roll straight through and attack and now you're flanking. Like, that may never work again. But this one time. Ruby will let her wrist ballistic, like her arm sort of drop for a second. She's just going to yell, come on to steal that. And that. And that. Oh, 10 doesn't quite hit the elder. It's 11 or higher. Oh. Does she want, or as once a day?

Shit. Honestly, what? Okay, so she rolled a five. I think it would kind of, now that the fight is pretty much like, you know. So it would be like, take the 10 and we're hitting six damage. And after she did such a cool move, she has to hit. Yeah. Yeah. For sure. Six damage and sneak attack. And that's like synergy. Mm-hmm. With their kids with their little party. Yeah. They got, yeah. They've... That's probably more stuff they talked about than anything. It's like, oh, that's really cool. So 2D6, snake attack. Uh, seven more damage. Fuck, that kills her. Yes, good job.

No, it's a dead harbing. Yes. That's mostly Ruby. Let's be clear. That's mostly rude. This is the book thing again, right? It's like, you know, come on. Vetti gets the compliment. So just rolling over and then stabbing and it's so it's like, holy shit, that works. Like, because it just stops moving. Like, it's just going to like fall to the ground. As a fast at the ground, my fear is standing there with a grin on our faces. She goes, good job. That's... I lean into ORA and go... Yeah. I lean into O'er and I'm like, she couldn't have done it without you. Honestly, that's a thing she...

She's like, just... Yeah, it's fine. It's totally fine. One... Harpy elder... No, there's two. There's two. There's two. It's still not safe. It's still... Yeah. We're swoop it down. One for Chet, one for Chimera. We're clawing, baby. One for Chet first. Oh, almost a one rolls over to a 19-22. We'll hit five damage to Chet. And one for Chimera. That is significantly lower. 12, though I still think hits you. Yes, it does. Shit. That's three damage, so she's just charging it again, just Papao, like, it's, it's, this aerial choreography that is, yeah. And that is the end of round one.

Re-rolling for everyone. Who, who, who. Shit, okay, Bass is up first. He's going to kind of help flank this, uh, this harpy elder. Does he just appear behind it? Like he keeps doing to me. I like to think every one. I like to think that you're the only one that doesn't perceive him. I would love the harpy to go, oh. Jesus. And longer, like, he's right. Right, right. She gets it. She gets it. Short sword! Yo! That's gonna hit! Five damage to the harpy, and then we got Flurry of blows! Sounds like an apprentice for Ruby here. Well, well, well. Oh, yeah. Shit! Okay, that's not good. 22!

Five damage and seven damage with the other fifth. That will bloody the harpy. This is like the opposite of what's been happening. This is... This makes sense, right? I know. I love the way the dice are telling this story, because it's like, we had a discussion and like, you know, listen and this is the plan and now the plan coming together. Like, chat, like, the fact that you cheered, like, that lit up his heart, I'm sure. But if he were getting in trouble, like, I didn't detect. She came to me. Like, I just make a shirt. You saw it. I was just standing here.

I didn't take one step towards her. Oh, man, Betty's going to fire a short bow at that same harpy that Bask just hit. Oh, that is going to miss nine total. She should have two expertise. These dies for me, though. It should be a D6. Oh, that's Vetti. I'm sorry. I thought it was ORA. Never mind. She shouldn't have any expertise. Oh, no, she should have had a D6 because ORA is standing right there. But what did I roll for the... Oh, I rolled a one for the expertise die anyway. That wouldn't have stopped anything. Even a clue too. But hey, that's okay. Harpy Elder.

Uh, we're gonna claw at... As an aura. Fast first. That is a cocked die, but still a 12. That will hit. Five slashing damage. And one for Ora. That is a crit. One. Lucky girl. And not rolling on the crit table. Ruby, you're up. All right, a quick question. How, when did we have the last fight? Is this like hours later? Is this the next day? I can't remember where we were. Do you remember? Canonically, it's the 21st now. And that has been updated on the calendar. It is the 21st of Alta Orne. And I need to get used to saying that more. So this has been a couple of days.

So this has been like, you know, you guys had the fight and took the rest of the day to like got it. kind of chast-eye, I got up the next day, trained a bit, and you've been moving ever since. Okay, great. Well, then screw it. Um, Ruby is going to target. Let me do it. Let me do it. Let me do it. Trying to target the... Don't even worry about targeting. I got you, baby. You got it. All right. I can't seem to do anything. Hang on a second. That's not sure. You made a book. I can't seem to move. I want to move. Do you have token select on? I don't know anymore. On the left-hand side of the screen.

I can't get it to stop. I can't get it to stop being on token control. There we go. Maybe that's it. And I don't know what that means. I'm going to let it. There we go. I got it. I got it. Okay. All right. I will never learn. I do token control. That's the problem. Never ever do it. She's going to come up and do an upper cut. She's going to run, run, run, run. Not even push Baz and or out of the way, but just between the two of them, just smash like an uppercut into this harpy. Shit. Is she? It's a D8. Yeah, I was about to say D8. Okay, this is going to be, this is just for showing off now.

So, D8. Yeah, no, I'll just do it. All right, uppercut. I was thinking more to do. I'm not going to do more. This is good. This is good enough. How's that? That 23 definitely gets. Check this shit out. Or is going to use something called Stack the Deck. So she gets a an amount of damage die equal to her level. And any time you roll an attack, with expertise die given to you, she can add a number of these to your damage pole. So she's going to give you 2D6. That's halfs her out for the day. But it's just like, here you go. I'm sorry, whatever your weapon die is, D4?

No, D6. I believe. Oh, so 2D6. Awesome. Do I roll that now? No, it's D4. You're punching. You're punching. Oh, punch you're punching. Oh, punch you're sorry, sorry, sorry. So 2d4. Yeah. Right now. I'll do it. Yeah, D6 would not be right. So 11 total damage. All right. Screw, she's going to flurry your blows. Shit. I mean, if you can't flurry a blows, then... What's the point? And D8? D8. De8 expertise. All right. Good. God. Okay. He's going to just upper cut and then start pummeling. Bam-da-bab-b-dab-b-dab-b-dab-b-dab. That's another 16 damage. That kills the Harpy Elder. There's only one left on the field.

As that one dies, like a shadowy hand sort of like rakes through the, it's like maimed face and body and just and then sucks up into chimera shadow and just sort of like caresses him. Yeah, you can't hear like a... Yeah. And he goes, he takes a good deep breath and then he goes, Mm, thank you. Thank you, Ruby. You like that, Sparks? I love it. That was for you. Your turn. Harpy Elder, we're Clon Chet. We're Clon Chet. We're Clon Chimera. Chet first. Oh! That's a critz! You could have quadry first. Yeah, nothing, nothing, nothing can work and do about that one. So, that's not great.

Okay, well, let's see if we're rolling on the crit table. And we are. Uh-oh. 10. Opportunity in addition to standard critical hit damage to the target, you may take an extra standard action this turn. That's not amazing. No, that's not good. Who can block it? Who can stop this? Okay. Well, that's 14 damage to Chet. To Chet. Mm-mm. And that will knock Chet out. Claudea chimera. 14. 5 damage. That's much less damage. And shit. She's... I'm right here. I'm right here, you saggy tit, bitch. Ooh-hoo-hoo-hoo. My. She's gonna start singing again. Loring song. Wisdom saving through over, everybody.

Everybody. Everybody. Everybody within 300 feet. Oh, my goodness. Ruby runs. Yeah. La La la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la Oh! Oh shit! Oh no! Oh. I'll follow for that shit again. Yeah. Like, you can't hear because of the blood pounding and just a red film. Mm-hmm. Three, three and four. Are you shitting me? Vetti five. That's three or a four. I can see this. The harp is right in the middle of all of us. Like in a way. That song is probably really, really hardcore. Logrin 11. The only two people to save are Nithira and Chimira barely. Oh, shit. Oh, no. When this happens, I'm like covering my ears and I'm just like looking around.

I see everyone go daze, but I see Nithera and I like make eyes with her. And I'm like, oh, okay. Good. And my fear is glaring at this, at this harpy. Death is in her gaze. It's kind of a foamy once. Yeah, foamy once in the situation here. You're up. The problem is the expertise I go away. Because no one is, yeah, you get chet incapacitated. I got come here. Yeah, but he's the only one. There's no one to flank. That's all I need for sneak attack. There you go. Okay. So first off, I'm going to move 30. 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30. And then as she's running over, she's going to like knock on her boots.

And it turns out she's wearing an old pair of Ruby's boots. And she's going to activate a charge. And that's how she learned how to use charge. because Ruby gave her an old pair. She's been upgrading her stuff. So she's going to be giving you some hammy downs. So what charge does is I could move up to 30 feet in a straight line using an action and not movement. And then I can make a melee weapon attack at the end of it. You're about to gore the fuck out of this harpy. I can feel a crit coming. Oh, please. I feel it. Please. So I get sneak attack as to come here's there and I get Carver. because dagger.

Oh, and a D4. I hit. 18 hits. I forgot the D4 because camera is there. But whatever. So I do 12 points of damage. That's with the Assassin's Gontlet. Again, just looks like she's punching, but she's really like slashing with that. And then in her other hand, as the Herpy screams out and doesn't see coming with her left hand. Oh no! Oh no! A Crip one! Hey guys, I got this feat I took. It's called Fortunate. So I gained three. I gain three fate points and whenever I make an Attack Rollability Check or saving throw out and I don't have disadvantage, I can spend one of those fate points to roll an additional D20 and choose whichever one I want.

Nice. Nice. I'm not. I'm not going to tell you how to play your character. I would take the one that's not a one. Also, I get inspiration when it's a one. So even if it sucks. Oh yeah. Okay. Yeah. Should. Do it. Failure is not the ending for Nythera. It's only a learning experience. 13. 13 hits. I think I'm going to take that one. Okay. Bold. But okay. But okay. And then is there a thing where you can only spend one maneuver? Can you spend more than one maneuver? So a maneuver is considered an action unless it says otherwise. Okay, okay. Then that is the end of my turn.

Oh boy, Lugrin, you're dazed. So You're just charmed. Uh, while charmed by the harpy, the creature is incapacitated and ignores other harpy songs. Oh, so you're a rider-die guy now. That's good. I'm going to family with his harpy. I'm into the saggy boobs. That's what I'm into. You just don't know. Those are lovely. That's my life. That's just decided. Yeah, turn around and I'm like, what? It's got actual hearts for eyes. I don't get like an extra chance to save. I'm just days of this turn. Only if you're damaged and you got to walk toward the harpy. So what she's trying to do is build.

He's just building a cadre of human shields, I think. I mean, I'll get closer to her. That's fine. Oh, shit. Or the same thing. So... We're surrounding the Harpy and most of them are friends. Unless all of a sudden, they aren't. And that's bad. Oh, shit. Death saving throw time. Mm-mm. Mm. Oh, God, 12. Okay, good. That's first success. And Kamira, you're closing us out for the round here. The round, yeah. Okay, so first thing, I had my little marker, but it went away, but my flaming sphere was somewhere over here, somewhere where... Oh, that's my bad. I took it away.

Sorry, yeah, no, no worries, no worries. But it should be plenty of room, because I was thinking about this when I put it down there. So I'm going to move my flaming sphere. right here actually. Okay. And that's a bonus action. Okay. It is next to the harpy. Yeah, so, Kamira like, sees people coming in, and he just like whips his hand behind him, like out towards the flaming sphere and sort of like pulls it into him and the thing follows and just like, makes a wide arc around aura to... to settle right down by the harpy and it also like leaves a cool trail of fire on the snow for a little bit like Hey.

Yep. I don't I don't want to tell you what to do but uh if you moved up and uh diagonal left there you'll be on the other side of the harpy and you get expertise because you're flanking with night there oh yes but then I'm by my sphere and I don't want to do that. Oh, that's fair. That's fair. You got a good call. You got a fire damage. Oh, that's true. That's true. I already. Let's see. I need to do a little measure thing real quick and see if I... Okay. You know what? I think that's what I'm going to do. I'm going to reach out hands. And so there's fire coming in behind her.

And then I'm going to... put my hands together and put him out in front of me and just flame like burst forth from Kimer's hands in a cone like spreading across the wings and feathers and hair of this harpy as it's like trying to sing and he's just kind of like burn this song out of it and I'm going to do some burning hands. Let's go. And dexterity save of 15. Let's see. I think it's half damage on a miss. Uh, yes, I believe that's a spell. Yeah. So, yeah. So, yeah. So, uh, so 18, she saved, but still taking seven damage. God, anything else? No, that is it.

And I believe if she ends her turn within five feet of that sphere, she's got to make a deck saving to her again or take some damage. All right, that is the end of round two. Round three, we're starting with Ruby. Ruby's just got to move closer. She should have taken damage from that sphere too. I didn't do that. I should have cast that. How much? Let's see. It should make you have to do a deck save again, I believe. Okay. Second deck save. Woof. Yeah. There you. Okay. 19. Yeah. Is it half damage on a year? Half damage on that too, yes. Five more fire damage. That'll kill the Harpy.

So, congrats. Yay, Kamera! So it's just like fire on the back end. He like brings that thing in and it explodes behind her. And then he puts his hand together and like it blows fire out in front of them. And it just like incinerates from all sides. Like feathers are going up as like embers. And you can like hear in her voice as she's singing like it just becomes strained and like, and like trails off as he just burns this thing out of existence. And he's just like panting there. Who. Who. Everyone's going to come to after after she hits the snow and just kind of of like a cooked chicken and everyone, Chet's still knocked up, but everyone else just, you blink.

And or it's going to be fair. It's like, what just happened? I thought we had that. Like, just, just kind of shocked that all of sudden, it's like, there was one left. How to, like, just kind of, there's just blood everywhere around you guys. Like, it's just so. I think of harpy. Harpies. Anyone hungry? Someone get chet up. Who's got potions? I'll take care of Chet. I'll use one of mine. I have five, and now I'm down to four after giving it to Chet. So, Chet, he'll be back and just kind of like grogly, like, getting up and just kind of like punch the snow. Like he's pissed off at himself.

Like he wasn't ready. for that. I have healing. He'll kind of like after he's just kind of like, he's fuming a little bit. Look up in a night there. Thank you. Thanks. He's just mad at himself. I mean, Ruby comes over and straight into the ground on her knees. She's like, that was badass. It came right at you and he just like swung at it and then it was gone. You're getting good. Night theor is gonna like pat him on the shoulder after she helps him sit up. You did good and then stand up. Start like looking for parts of these herpes that are valuable. I think that went rather well.

It was a little scary at the end there, but, you know, just bust out the flames. How long were we out? Oh, not long. Seconds. Not long at all, no. Six seconds. Precisely six seconds. Yes. But Lovrin was all in to marry this one. Because I think I was in love for a second there. It's been known to happen. That was weird. God, you and Harpies, man. Listen, it's been like twice, all right? I hate Harpies. Until I don't. You know what I mean? Anyway, we got to cut these things up and get going. It's like a big knife. Harvey throats are actually, they're pretty valuable to the right buyer.

So how about a charred one? I mean, that's gross. I mean, the inside is what counts, you know, like it's, you know. Okay. What time of day is this? I don't even know. This, like, you, it's late afternoon. Yeah, I mean, the clock isn't always accurate because I'm, you know. Yeah, who cares? Should we just use this as a place to hunker down or do we need to keep going? Do you think there's more of them? I mean, seem like a big family to me already. The blood may attract predators. Let's get a little further down the road. Fair enough. Y'all did great. She's looking at all of the kids.

Like, truly, like, kind of gobsmacked. They have a whole lot of words to say. Just like, y'all. What the hell? Fetti doesn't want to celebrate around Chet because he's the only one to get knocked out. But at a certain point, as you guys are like packing up and going down the road, she's kind of like sidle up next to night there. Just like super excited. Just like, I can't believe that worked. I've only done it like in my head before. It just actually worked. You did perfect. And she's going to put her head on her. Hand on her head. Oh my God, talking. And then like ruffle her hair a little bit.

We'll keep practicing that one though. I'm sure we could have a way where you do damage as you're rolling over. We'll have to practice. I wonder if Ruby will help out. She's totally paying attention. And you're not, you're having a private conversation. Can you all teach me? Yeah. Definitely. Oh, and the boots, Ruby, thank you. You are very welcome. I saw what you did. Yeah, I think I activated them quickly. Actually, did she see what she did? She was a... Oh, we. Actually, I don't think so. Never mind. Well, while you were out, I was able to use the boots. They worked perfectly even in snow.

Okay. I mean, that's the thing about them, because they warm up. But yeah, I can, I can tweak some things too. She's going to go hyper-focus on to it. How do I get the things back in? I don't need heels right now. Healy's? Yeah, right. No healy's. I sneak or a little high-five. Like the camera like like focuses, rack focuses to us. Yeah, just sneaker a little high-five. And when it comes away, there's a tarot card in her hand of the gambler. And it winks at her. Oh. Yeah, chat's a little sore about like, you know, just being like, it's not openly angry, just like overly determined.

That's never going to happen to get. That's two fights in a row. And that, you know, it's embarrassing. Get that. Get your head in the game, like that type of thing. Just like, Betty's got the map and is going to kind of offhandly say, So one more day of travel, we should be at the caravan. Long as you're still there, yeah. We're a little late, but only about like a day or two. So we're moving faster than them. We got to be, right? Oh. And we can catch up. up. If it's not there. They'll certainly be leaving tracks. If it's at large of a group, we should be able to find them.

Yeah, we're taking shortcuts and stuff, right? We're kind of going overland instead of falling in a road. So we haven't really seen any trucks. Probably how we got the harpies, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I also, it's a caravan. They got to move slower just because there's more people. Like, that's the one advantage you guys have. We haven't been following no tracks up until this point, right? Because we're not. No. No. Stay, stick into the roads. Yeah. Okay. Yeah, they didn't take the detour with the rats either. So, you know, there. Somebody pulled a caravan through here.

What the hell? Can we have like a chaos emblem for a where? They through chaos is now? Prud chaos. Oh, boy. Not looking forward to that. We'll see what happens. Hey, everybody. Jasper here. Sorry to interrupt. Just a quick heads up. If you ever hear a haunting, melodic voice drifting across the frozen landscape of Theria, don't get your hopes up. It's not somebody using busking as a travel activity. It's harpies. And they always stink. You know what doesn't stink? Supporting Dungeons and Randomness on Patreon. Patreon.com slash D. A-N-D-R. If you're already a patron, thank you.

And if you've been thinking about upgrading your tier, now's the time. We've got new stuff coming, more exclusive chaos, and plenty of surprises ahead. Come be part of it, and thank you for listening. I need a travel die. For just the rest of today. I would imagine Like it's up to you like I'm figuring you're you're walking the rest of this out and then taking a long rest like getting away from you know that's what I mean is like you said it was late afternoon so we're just going to walk until dusk basically yeah yeah I don't I don't need to travel die for the rest of that is more after that I was just being proactive everybody do you have to give me give yourselves a long rest of a long rest.

Good thing about harpies being in the area. If you kill the harpies, you're pretty sure nothing's going to jump yet because their song. It's 300 feet. And they kind of flutter outward. So it kind of chases regular stuff away. That's crazy. All ready. So long rests for all. Can't wait for a haven. Oh. Yeah. Do we have any fatigue or anything like that? You have one level after. Yeah. Okay. So camping out that night. There's some... The kids are together and they're talking, right? And this is, they don't usually sit in a group like this. Like, you know, they've kind of... spread out through the camp.

But you can kind of hear him like talking. And there's a slight worry specifically coming from Chet that once you reach the caravan, you're going to ditch them. Like you're just going to ditch them with the caravan. Because it's like, like, he's considering himself a liability at this point. And you'll hear, like, you'll hear it kind of talking. Like, not bad mouthing anyone else. But more specifically, it's like, Oras's doing stuff. And he's always quick to compliment aura. But like, even Vetti's a cartwheeling over. And like, I'm doing shit. Like, I'm performing like garbage.

Like, just very quick to bad mouth himself. This is easy for us to hear. I, not at first, because they're trying to keep it low. But the more, I think the more they disagree with him, be more emphatic he would be and loud. I kind of just want to a joke and sarcastically say very loudly. So when are we going to drop them off with the caravan logging? Right now, let's go. You can stay here. You'll be fine. I thought we were really going with the harpies. Yeah, I mean, Logger's not going. Are they like outside of the campground? Because we usually, I can't imagine you have another one fire going, right?

No, but they're kind of off to the side. Just it's like, hey, before we, because I imagine like you sit around the campfire, you're eating, you're warming stuff up. And it's obviously just the place that you all congregate. But I think much like the night with the rats, it's like kind of pulling, pulling them aside. It's like, hey, I'm worried that. And they're a little off to the side, like maybe 15, 20 feet away. Somewhere not far off. So we're having our rations or I imagine it being just like a soup or like a stew or something that we're eating. Yeah.

So like we're all sitting by the fire and they're all pulled off to the side. Logren's going to just kind of exchange a look with you three. and like just stand up with his bowl of soup and go just walk over to where they are. And he will approach until he's either there or in they stop talking or he will stand there and just eat his soup over them until they stop talking. The second you start, I can't imagine you're quiet. I can't. I can't. I don't. You're not even quiet eating. He's one of those like, Mm. Very purposeful chewer. Yeah. Big chunks of potato.

So as as you approach, Chet's going to shut up. But because it's like, here it goes. Here we are. He's going to tell us right now. This is it. Like, this is the confirmation. Nothing has happened. But it's like, I'm getting fired. Here we go. Like it's just, yeah. He's just. Yeah, this is your boss saying, hey, can you pop in my office real quick? Yeah. Hey. Can we talk? Friday afternoon. Oh. Friday afternoon. Hey, before you go home. I worked at a car parts factory and they did that. And that was the first time I ever got stereotypically fired on a Friday. Oh, God.

Enjoy your week. I said first time. Have a day. And indeed I did. That job, all I did. I stamped break pads 10,000 times a day, literally. There's a machine that kept a counter, and you had to do at least 10,000 a day. But if you did more than that, they said, good job. Oh, great. Yeah, wonderful. That really pays the bills. Good job. It was one of the jobs. Job. Have a job. The guy who owned it was very German. So like his way of firing people, there was no compassion then. It's like, I need you. Like, oh. I have a passion. And that was it. Yeah. Why are you still here?

Yeah. Technically, you're trespassing right now. The clock is ticking before I call the cops. Yeah, so Loggram's going to stand there until, like, first until he has everybody's attention, and then for like another moment while he, like, thinks about what he wants to say. And he takes another bite of his food while he thinks about it. But then he has to finish that bite before he said anything. Cool. Stretch that out as long as you can. So he's just kind of, you know, as one of the, as an expert on doing it, I'm going to tell you that you're putting a little bit too much pressure on yourself.

You're doing fine. Nobody prepared you for this. We're learning as we go. You guys are doing all right. Don't worry so much. And I'll go back and sit down. You're going to hear three of them as included. Give some version of, yeah, we were doing great. Like, I don't understand. Like, we, they were celebrating. And Chet's being kind of a downer. And it's like, see? Like, that's them, like, pointing. And Chal be quiet, but just like, like he's just, yeah, just grumbling. Yeah, that's fine. He can grumble. Yeah. And he'll come back and just sit down with our group again and not like not comment on it unless anybody says anything.

I think Nathira will say something. And maybe like a little. Like, she usually speaks of the same level at all time. but she's speaking up to the other group that's 20 feet away kid here if they want to The kid has a good swing he's getting better with that sword but maybe next time we're in town we should get him armor I think that would help he's just thinking too much he's putting too much pressure on himself he'll be fine not saying armor wouldn't help but oh no I'm not saying anything about what he was saying That's dumb. Why would we get rid of them?

But I do think he needs armor. What does he wear for armor anyway? Oh, God. So... Nothing? Okay. Yeah. Okay. In that case, because... Give him a little chest. Breast flavor. Watering encased in armor goes, no, he doesn't need it. No. He's fine. Yeah, that probably helped too. I don't want to mess up his swing too much, though. That's what he does. It's like, yeah, it's too binding. Like, I can't, like, half the thing. I feel like I'm, it slows me down. That's his reasoning. Yeah. Even leather, though. Even something. Just, he should just get like an asymmetrical shoulder pad or something.

That always looks really cool. And doesn't swing down. He'd look good in a helmet, honestly. I think I don't have a good idea and that one's actually under his breath good good he's at this point he's been hitting that a lot this week yeah he does I feel like to like I feel like and correct me if I'm if I'm wrong Jasper but I feel like Ruby and Kymra have been on the receiving ends of these like Logrin and Nythera tactics as well like Peptoxin tactics too so they're just like They're just like, yeah, yeah, we know. On one hand, it's nice to not be on the receiving end of it.

On the other hand, it's like you get an opportunity to join it. And, you know, it's fun to recommend some things. So from a meta perspective, I tried to design these characters as if it's first time D&D players not allocating points properly. Even down to picking, like, it's like, no, he doesn't have armor. And he has the heaviest sword he could find. His strength can take care of it, but nothing else. Baz is a perfect example. He is a nine-year-old monk with a negative one for his dexterity. And a flat wisdom score. So his AC is nine. He is slow and he is defensive by nature, but like he's not.

He's like his coordination isn't there. He's nine. Like, he has the body of a 23-year-old or whatever, but like it doesn't, like, it's not clicking. Yeah. 23-year-old NBA player, yeah. He'll grow into it. He'll grow all right. He's just lanky. Yeah, he's probably got another six or seven inches of growth at least, you know, so he's going to be a big guy. I don't know it. Like, without talking to him, there's no reason why it's like, why a debt? Why monk? Like, why do that? Like, it's, you know, you should multi-class friend. And to something that heals, please.

Yes. Yeah, yay. Your 10 wisdom. Yeah, we get them to Esther Holt. We should do some calibration on all this. I mean, a little bit of armor here, a little bit of train in there. I mean, they're already getting there. But a little bit of tweaking, they'd be something special. Y'all be something special. She'd say. Ruby, I'd be a much if we noticed during the bottle, but Baz, I think he was copying one of your moves. I don't remember when of her house. I think it was before. It was before because he was also in trouble. That's right. That's right. Yeah. I feel like, I don't know, maybe there's some training in our future.

Feels like we all have our own little protege now. Hmm. Ruby's also three quarters of Baz's size. And like, I just like, like, dodgy and life. And that just does not move from stock standard. Just like, perfect posture. standing just, you know, very, you know, very wooden. I like how Jasper just did it. It's like punching that little bag. Speedback. Yeah. Yeah. That's his story. But his is more like, boom, boom, which is one hit every one, one arm. That's the type of hand. And for some, yeah, like, he's, I think that's why he shadows Lager and so much. It's like, no, this feels right.

This And it's like, this makes sense. But he could not have picked the worst fighting class for his frame, basically. I need a travel die from someone. Who's going to be, who's going to be our lucky travel die person? Nobody's going to say yes. Then I got to pick somebody. Oh, thank you. I'm so nice. I'm so nice. I'm so tight. Just so I can roll more dice and affect the statistics more. Oh, there's almost a 20. Oh, wait, it needs to be a D20. I'm so used to all. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, that's 100. Oh, I know. I know. 59. Nice. Nice. Nice. Nice. Nice. I'm comfortable.

That's a way. Yeah. It's close to nice. It's like almost. You know. Almost nice. Yeah. Look, something's getting nine. Okay. That's all I know. I. I don't. But it, okay. But if you look at the five, it looks like a butt to like. Okay. Oh. I'm trying to figure. Where you're going? Yeah. How do you do? Okay. I'm sure this is a whole problem. I mean, your legs are doing. Your legs are in the game for themselves. That like you're like that's. Yeah. Don't Google it. It's. It's a comfort. It's just Google it. Later. That means someone's getting their knees licked. Yeah. Or feet. If it's like right.

It's just a different podcast. No, it was always this podcast. It was always this podcast. Deep down. This game was rigged from the beginning. Right. 59. Good. Let's start the conversation over. We're in a loop. Also, I have a bracelet that protects on the road. I don't know what that means anything. We didn't get any clarification on that. No, we didn't. The gold bracelet. I dropped it in your thing, right? The bracelet, I put it in there. I don't know if it has. like anything else. I just put like a little... But not the actual thing. Not the actual thing. No, I put in something in there to remind myself I had it.

I'll find it later. It's not... It's not available here and I know I put it somewhere. Don't worry about it. No worries. But... Does it do anything here? What it is not applicable right this minute? Okay, that's all we can. A lot. But I'll let you know. Okay. So... Okay. A whole day is going to go by. Now, you're going to get within striking distance of this caravan, and it's around like 6 p.m. And you just kind of collectively make the decision, like, let's get there. Let's just do it, right? So you're going to close in on this thing at night. It's going to be about 10 p.m.

And you're in a situation again where you're kind of coming uphill, but you can see that there are parked wagons. It's like, okay, great, great. And you're going to get... Let me give you guys a map, actually. You're kind of winding down this little road. It's hills and stuff. You should see a black screen right now. There's kind of hills and everything. and you're expecting to hear a much more activity. And there is this cool fog, I would put it as. You're kind of guessing that it's like, oh, we're probably going to get more snow in a few hours. But right now, the warmth from this camp is probably enough to heat things up enough that the cool air hitting it creates a fog.

Cool, you're thinking. and you're going to get close enough that you should be hearing sound. And that's when you start getting worried. The moonlight is, it almost creates a spotlight. And you're very slowly, as a group, just kind of like moving around, it's like, why is everyone asleep? You know, I'm not smelling a fire. And you're going to round. around the corner here. Uh-uh. And every living person in this camp has been slaughtered, cut down, violently. The horses, and there's a couple of things that's going to catch your out. First of all, the kids are like, fuck.

Like, you're thinking, oh, this is, this is a camp. We're going to, you know, this is the halfway point and we get to run. right along. Nothing has been taken from these cards. They are still full of provisions, of goods, of sellables, of mind ore, like it is, nothing has been taken that you can tell. They have been ransacked. They have been like it looks like someone or something was desperately clawing through them, but nothing was taken that you can, you can notice. don't touch anything anybody so through this fog you're just going to see just swathes of blood everywhere again everything the horse is everything and you can tell that there were campfire set up but they've long burned out So this is new enough that no one else has come upon this yet, but old enough that whoever did this probably isn't here anymore.

Nighttheir is going to look to Logron before. We're probably like stop like at the edge of it. You want me to go and investigate? I can use the fog as cover. I kind of thinks about that for a second. He's looking things over. kind of strokes his beard. He goes, he's got ahead, but stay where we can see you. We'll follow. And he gestures for everybody. He'd like, stay close. So Night Thier would probably be like maybe 50 feet ahead. Like, whatever your range of vision where she just starts to get out of it. Yeah. So dark vision would be like, Right? Yeah. Just slinking.

Again, the moon has lit this place up. I don't even think you'd need dark vision. Unless you get behind a cart or something like that. Like if you're purposefully hiding, that's, you know, but can I get a, give me an investigation check. Like if you're, if you're scoping things out and looking around, like, let's, let's look for clues, gang. Right, right. Oh. No. No. It's okay. I get inspiration. Yeah, you get inspiration. Give me a little like hit me with that role on the as a crit, as everybody. So a critical mistable. Let's see what we got here for flavor.

Oh, interesting. Interesting. Interesting. Interesting. So. So while. While Nithaer is kind of weaving in between cards, obviously, there's a lot of stuff spilled on the ground. There's, you know, and... Nithaer is going to find this wax sealed letter that, like, just kind of popping it open. It's like a bill of good. It's like a sale. But it's one of the only things that seems intact. So Nitha is just going to... This is it. Like, something, like, something, something it has to do with this, like, not iron clad, but it's like, this is the only thing that doesn't have blood on it that I can see right away, like, everything else has just coated in blood.

And who kills the horses? Like in this environment, like, in this economy, those horses would go for three, four hundred gold each. It's probably similar to what Logrin's saying. It's like, damn, that's a waste. Still good horses. Like, here's going to rush back to Logger. but like running but like quickly this is the only thing that was on touch everything else is covered in blood it maybe it's dealing with whoever owns the business or or where they were headed like who they're dealing with this has to be important I trust your judgment completely Never steer me wrong.

Yeah, he'll take the letter and look at it. But before he starts reading through it, he'll kind of look at her and be like, how are they? Was it a knife? Was it claws? Oh, I'll be here. That's easy enough for a knife theory. It's like, no, these are, these are weapons. Like, we're talking massive great swords. Some of these people are almost cleaved in half. And some of them have then run through with lances. Like, there are holes in people. This was expertly done and fast. However, you only see three tracks, three sets of footprints. That look like people outside of the camp.

These are big, nasty, heavy footprints. heavily armored. And then to Logrin after she quickly comes back. I know this can sound crazy, but I think this was done by three assailants. Broadsords, lances, but I only see three tracks. For this entire camp and the horses. I mean, at a glance, are there fighters in this camp? It was mostly merchants, right? They had guards. They had like, you know, they had hired guns that they get. That's a pretty lucrative business nowadays. So there were people and like they look, they look decently outfitted. You can't really tell how skilled they were.

But you're spotting at least eight or nine people that you'd go, they were. that I, you know, you're going to see lots of merchants dead. They were just people riding. But distinctly, you're going to also spot that there are three sets of hoof prints leading out of. So three horses at least made it out. It wasn't those like big nasty fuckers from Aubrey, was it? Like the really big ones with the helmets and the scary looks? Oh, the wardens? Yeah. I mean, long way for them to be out, but I don't know. This caravan came from Aubrey, right? Do they even let him out of Aubrey?

Can they even survive outside of Aubrey? Like, I feel like... Vetti would be quick to be like, I know. I don't think so. I've never seen them. And also, why? They didn't do anything, right? They're just urchance. What the hell is going? When did this even happen? And assuming that they're getting a little bit more comfortable with the scenario here. There's nothing coming to get them. You know? Right. Ruby's probably kind of walking a little bit in there and kind of poking around, not touching anything, but just. How long ago did this happen? Would this feel like?

Is this like a fresh? You mean an investigation. Great. Yeah. Anybody who's trained in an investigation can assist. Can I help? Are you trained in investigation? Yes. And yes. I was just asking because of my one before. Oh, no, no, you're old. That doesn't lock you out. Holy shit. We're not supposed to investigate this guys. No, that's another crit one. Honestly, you know what? The dice are cooperating with story. I think if you walked into this amount of manslaughter. Yeah. It's like, it's like, it's a whole shit. We're like to figure this out. This is like. This is overwhelming.

You guys double-timed it for half a week or most of a week getting out here and it's like, Fuck! Like, yeah. Ruby just gets down as like a hobbit late here. I'd say this happened between anywhere like earlier today to like maybe like two or three weeks ago. Just turn around. What is time? Anyway, really, guys. It's impossible to say it can't be known. It's impossible to know. She would say. I guess we just have to take that and live with it. Jason, there is a weird sigil on this map. Is that something we can see? Is that something that exists in this scenario that we're talking about?

Oh. Yes. I was, I was, that would be, yeah, that would be, um, viewable to everybody. I'm trying to dodge all these ones and get it, you know, but yeah. That kind of Sarah has it looked. Oh, wait, get it. Roll on the crit table. I want to see if you find another red herring. Oh. This one's an actual fish. Yeah. Oh, they're carrying red herring. That's important. This is a hairring. You should pull of red herrings. Oh, my gosh. Yes. Oh, my. Wow. So, okay, the exact same thing. So you guys are very in step with each other. Your, you're in sync. Probably shouldn't be, but you are.

We find some important shit, Jason. It's an equal billing letter from a different company. And it's like, they're in on it, too. How far does this go? It goes all the way to the top. No, there's no. So, while this is going on, Kimer is going to notice that there is, like, kind of behind one of these carts, there is a circular, like, it's painted in blood in the snow. Like, it is very deliberately made. Oh, that's normal. Very not. Yes. No. Can I get an archaicant? a check yes yes you can oh beautiful here we're here we're going you're rolling that crit table that's a good crit guys for those of you at home 22 yes you have advantage on your next are cut you are top of the class I don't think you took classes really but you know what I mean like you're on the demons you are on top of the So at first glance, the sigil almost looks like a spider.

It looks like many legs branching out and then you get closer to it. And this is, it almost looks like something like, like, it almost like a monster deity kind of rising up with these branching. It almost looks like something like it almost like a monster or deity kind of rising up with these branching. It almost looks like the veins of wings, kind of like a crude. It looks awful and evil. And you're instantly going to know that this is a way to communicate. And you're going to, you're going to, you're going to feel those little fingertips kind of like come up on your shoulders.

I can help you tap into that baby bear. What? Well, who is it communicating to? I know it's a way to talk, but who is it reaching out for? I don't know the name that it's an ancient evil. I hesitate to use the word evil, but this is This is work I can get on board with. It's supposed to fade away within the next eight to 12 hours, but we could maybe piggy back onto this, tap into what they're trying to say. I want to know. I do too. You should touch it. Get your fingee tips all in there. Yeah, he'll like, he'll bend down and like Put his hand to his mouth, gets his fingertips.

Get him wet. Yeah, get him wet, get him nice and wet. And stick it down, stick it down in there. Can I get a Constitution saving throw, please? Oh, of course. Yeah. That tracks. Hey, that ain't too bad. Oh, okay. So, there's two different versions of this, right? One is going to be the things projected into Chimira's head. He's... So he's going to bend down. Probably before anybody can say, hey, don't do that. Two of you are looking at very different but very similar letters. Going, ha ha! We have it! Or is hanging out with you a lot and, uh, this might be the first time full on.

She's seen you communicate with Colgoth. Oh, yeah. Not a fan. Yeah, not a fan. Oh, good. It's kind of like side-stepping. Typically, no one is. So. Your eyes are going to glaze over. I don't mean they lose focus. I mean it's like cataracts. Like there's going to be a thin, white film over your eyes. And your mouth is just going to go slack, your head's going to fall back. And out of your mouth, is going to stream kind of a loose arcane fog. You're basically going to turn into like a fog machine. It's going to slowly cascade over your skin and pull at your feet and manifestations of things are going to.

It's going to basically enact like a shadow play for everyone. And the last few minutes of what was going on, is going to be seen for the group. And you're going to see three behemoths in black, just black armor furs the whole nine. Like, you cannot see faces, only red gleaming eyes. And they are hacking and slashing at everybody. Like, no wasted movement. We're talking steps slash, twirl, slash, like, they are just killing indiscriminately. And one of them is riding on horseback straight through as if there's a camera watching, and you're going to watch this rider gore, just gore a child with a lance and keep going.

The third one in the back is ripping apart these wagons. And you're going to see. that someone gets away from all this. A merchant not dressed for the weather, clutching some kind of small chest, and scrambles out, like gets out of there. And you're going to watch these three reconvene, and you're not going to hear them speak to each other, but there is a communication happening. And it's kind of this undercurrent of deep speech mumbling between the three of them. And do you speak infernal or deep speech? I can't remember. I almost want to say yes. I don't think I actually do.

No, I don't. I don't speak any other languages. I only know that the curse word, basically. That's what we all learn in different languages. Yeah. Yeah. Hold that thought, though. So everyone else is going to... They're going to kind of see this vague recreation of stuff, right? But... Chimer is basically living it. And at the tail end, they're going to bend down and leave this thing. And you're getting the sense that it's connected to other riders like them. And they are after whatever was in that chest. They just did not see that from their point of view. A fucked up thing is as, as they leave this on the ground, they stand up, and they're going to look at you.

Like they're looking through the lens into your eyes. And you're going to feel this, this like, faint connection to them for a moment before it severs. And like, you snap out of it. Ooh. Ooh. Oh. Did everyone see that? I missed it. My eyes were glazed over. Yeah. Ruby would have been straight over to you. Watching all of this happen and see you kind of maybe just almost. I'm just stumbled for a second. You all right there? You are right there? That wasn't... That didn't look fun. I'm good. No, it wasn't. Damn it. They were saying something, but I don't know what it was.

I do. Of course you do. Well, I think we should know. Oh, I think you'll want to know. You have to tell me. Was that fun for you? It was interesting. Well, interesting's got to be worth something. Hmm. Well, the problem is my feelings are hurt, baby bear. You promised me a new play thing. And when we had the perfect opportunity... And like, he's gripping your shoulders, but he's going to, like, point with an index finger right at aura. You said no. You have never said... said no, full stop. Why? It was because I didn't want her to have to have to make that choice under duress.

I got to choose. I got to pick. you know, the fun that we've had. And it just wouldn't have been fair. It wouldn't have been fair to you. And it wouldn't have been fair to her. Or, by the way, is freaked out by this. Like, wait, what? Like, wait, this was on the day. Wait, what? Like, just kind of, you know. But she also, like, it's a couple argument, almost. She doesn't want to get in the middle of it. It's weird. Like, all this is very weird. Yeah, and you can see, like, I think the group can see, like, even chimera is struggling to have this conversation right now.

Like, this is, yeah, but this is what it is what it is what it is. So. And we're coming in to Estherhold. There'll be plenty of time to get someone else. That's what I do. There was plenty of time in Aubrey. I'm a big fan of irony. It would have been lovely to claim somebody in the most holy city and the continent. I understand. And look, it is a dangerous place. You know that, I know that. I didn't want to get caught in the middle of something that I couldn't get out of. There'll be better opportunities and more ironic and a lot more fun. I guarantee it. All right, baby bear, just promise me you're not getting soft.

You're no fun when you're soft. Oh, no. If anything, I'm getting harder. All right, where do that merchant go? I think it's going to be unclear. You're pretty sure it's or it's like, ew, like just like, oh, it's like, oh, like, aside. They were. They were communicating with a side. They're taking orders from something. I didn't pick up all of it, but they're connected. They can see each other. All of them. So there's... It seems like there was more of them, too. In the world. Yes, this little... This little sigil is a way for them to communicate. Maybe that this area has been searched.

I see. Anyway, all of this stuff is free, so you're welcome, baby bear. As always, I am appreciative of your help and your power. Thank you, Koga. You have my eternal gratitude. We are settling this tab in Esther Holt. Consider it done. Ruby's been close by and doing like this. Every time you both are talking, she's just kind of doing her hands like a blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. Rolling her eyes a little bit. Enough. She's doing it again, isn't she? I'm sorry, go ahead, Susan. No, no, go ahead. I was just going to say, Logger and will actually interrupt Ruby interrupting Camara.

He'll like walk by and like whack around the arm and be like, you get one of your notebooks, right? Write that thing down. On it. Don't drop perfect, though. God knows we don't need to be summoned any more of those things. She immediately turns over the whatever and she erases a little bit. Yes, yeah. I got a guy who draws an MS paint. I'll get it to you. Yeah. And halfway through the conversation with Colgoth, Nighteuro was done and started actually looking through the caravan, like, for stuff. Specifically, he was looking for armor for Chet. Yeah, honestly, if you told him, it's like, hey, maybe armor, I think he's at a point where it's like, yeah.

Just like he's got to put something on. So Bazveddy and Chet would have left. Or is the only one to stay. And it's like morbid curiosity. It's like watching a car crash. But like no one died, but someone probably should have, you know? Like. Yeah. So he's going to, he's going to like sink back down, just kind of go away. Oh. He does a pinch when he leaves. Just a little. Just let me know that he's there. This is to aura. Yeah, no. And she's like there's... You ever see on somebody's face? It's like, okay. I have many questions. Let me do text select here. Which one is the most important?

Okay, let's start with... What? What was he saying? Like, me? Was I on the table? No. You were never on the table. I seems to think I was on the table. Yes. I know. He wants an awful lot, and he asks an awful lot. But, look, I understand that you have a lot of questions, and I understand that you are concerned about this, and we will talk about this, and I will address them. And whatever you have questions about, I'm an open book. But let's get through here first. And then whatever you want to ask, you got it. I probably hold up her hands, like, okay, fine. Fine.

But as she's getting ready to like... Everyone, like, it's a free-for-all, basically. People are, like, picking up boots and it's like, ooh, hey. It's free shit everywhere, right? She's probably just going to, like, start to walk away and turn back. You... You can do better. You know that, right? I'm already the best. Again, hands up walking away. It's like, this isn't my business. Like you don't want to get in the middle of a couple, but it's like, Guy seems like a fucking loser. I just want to put that out there. Like, just, you know, hey. And yeah, and I think it's like, I think he watches her go.

And like, if with everyone preoccupied, I think, chimera just kind of like you can see him like sink a little bit just like the facade just kind of falls and yeah he's just looking around in the dark Chet's willing to compromise. There is some padded leather. And he's kind of trying it on. He's like, like, just like patting his chest. And it's like, okay. Looking at everybody else who's actually using armor, how about this? Like, this shouldn't stop. my swing too much, but like, this should protect me a little, right? I just got my coats right now, and that's not, that's not doing it.

He's going to point to like three or four holes, like big ass holes in his coat after, you know. Very motherly. Nice year, it's going to walk up and be like, and then like loose in a strap and then tighten another one, so it's actually like on him correctly. Okay, now it's good. now you'll actually be able to lift your arm completely. Okay, all right. Then we're great. Okay. There is so much shit here, guys. Yes. Shopping episode. Logging is trying to find the tracks of the one merchant who tried to escape with that lockbox? I dread to ask, but can I get a survival check from you?

I'm trained in survival. Oh! Wow, see how this could go wrong. That's a big old 11. That's 11. That's 11. That's fine. That's average. So... You're going to see that this merchant hid under some, there's these kind of dead bushes with snow on top of them, and then there's a log underneath of that. And it looked like he hid out here for a long time. You're going to see a lot of melted snow. And it looks like he stayed here long enough to have something to eat. he must have laid here for hours and then took off. So somehow or another, these things didn't find him.

And he continued, essentially continued on where the caravan was going to go, but obviously he didn't get to. And this dude is out here alone, defenseless, and not dressed for the weather. How far from the massacre site is where this dude camped out? Is it like 30 feet away, 100 feet away? It's real close, yeah. It's like 25, 30 feet away. Because like going on foot open planes like this, he would have been run down in seconds. He just got away enough to hide somewhere and he got either got lucky or he was protected or something. Lagerin's going to follow his trail for another 100 feet.

And if it's still going, he'll turn around and go back. It's still going. It looks like a pure sprint. Like someone just ran off into the night. It's clumsy. It is not well coordinated. Looks like he may have fell a few times. Oh, good. So those are easy tracks to follow. Okay. Not hard at all. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. So I'll double back and be like, well, I found out where he went. He can follow in the morning and he fell over a few times. Do we want to follow him? Whatever those things are, are after whatever he's got. That's why we have to follow him. If whatever that was didn't find him here, he's either special or we need to figure out what he's holding.

I mean, think about it. What's in there? Hell, it's on the way where we're headed anyway. We were going to be going that way. Let's just pick up the pace a little bit and see what we can find. Nighteara is going to glance to the kids and then kind of lean in closer to the Lagrin so she doesn't say this loud enough for them is it our problem And we've got you know them So damn So Loggerin will take Nythera's under the breath question and answer it loud enough for everybody. And it'll just be like, listen, if we're going to show up in Esther Holt with an entire caravan worth of the goods hanging off our backs, we should probably have a survivor with us who can say what happened.

Because otherwise it's going to look like we knocked this thing over. Or not. Who cares? Like, maybe we're not staying at all. But if we find the guy, we can at least find out what happened. Maybe avoid. I'm not saying go out of our way, but if we run into him on the way, we'll know who he is. And, I mean, don't you want to know what's going on here? We know what happened. Yeah, it's nothing but trouble. Fine. But if we did meet up with him, I mean, I might ask. I said what I had to say I'll leave this up to you, Logrin, and she's going to go back to rifling through and grabbing anything that is small to carry, like, jewelry and...

Um... He's kind of like standing like, uh... Shit, uh... Ruby, come with me. She follows. And I think we're going to go a little bit further down these tracks. Like, I don't want to leave this area. I don't want to walk more than like a half mile. Sure. Without the rest of the group. But, like, dude's not dressed for the weather. There's a good chance that by the time we catch up with him, he's going to be frozen. In the, like, Jack Nicholson style in the ice anyway. So. Mm-hmm. So yeah, we'll follow. Give me a flat D20. Okay. Just, just, I want to see some. Give me a flat D20.

Could be a D12. No. That's an 18. On a D12? Wow. Yeah. That's so much I like it. That's good. So how far are you willing to go? How far is Logger and willing to let Ruby keep going a little bit? Just a little bit further. A few times. So Logren would be willing to go half a mile. Ruby might be able to talk him in to go in a little further than that, but we're not going more than a mile. Mm-hmm. Uh. Right. Right on the cusp of a mile. Like right on the cusp. You're going to find a body. All right. All right. Like, Logrin has been saying for the past 20, minutes walking like we should turn back.

We gotta go back. Just go on one more. No, we got a little bit more moonlight left just a little bit. Hang on. What's that? I imagine every time it's like we should turn back you'll see the tracks where it's like he clearly like splayed out like eight shit. This dude went out of a gas. Yeah. He's up here. I know I saw somebody moving. Just make it. I hope. I don't think of a lot. Yeah. Just like give us a look. Come on. You're a... So you're going to find... You're going to find this very stiff, cold body. Uninjured. But... Clutching this small chest. And it's... It's oddly...

It's oddly cube-shaped. Like, it's interesting... Interesting build. This is, you've never looked at something in your life. And so instantly and assuredly new, oh, this is magically protected. Like, there's almost a faint shimmer over the little crate itself. Like, you can tell. It is a very ornate locked box. So Ruby would have, you know, Loggerne's kind of trudging behind, and Ruby's kind of a little bit ahead. intentionally so that Lager will have to keep saying, come on, you know, stop. I can't hear you kind of a thing. It's like trying to leave the Lego store with kids.

Yes, 100%. Then she does stop and Lagerin, because she finds this body, Lagerin catches up with her just a few more feet. And before he gets there, she turns around, he gave out. And then she has this smile on her face, And then she does, like, she does the Elaine to Jerry shove. Like, boom, he pushes him. And she's got hearts in her eyes. She said, look, look. I wasn't dressed for the way. All, let's see. Look what he's got. I've never seen anything more trapped. Don't open it. I don't know if we even can, but. we can't just leave it here. I mean, if whoever that was was willing to kill everything and all their horses for it and still didn't even find it.

I mean, nobody knows we've got it. It's got to be important. It's maybe got to be pretty cool. It could be something we could use. I'm being honest now. It might be something we're going to really appreciate finding. There's a chance that whatever drew them to that caravan. It's going to draw them to us now if we take this. She's going to turn back and look at it. Yeah, she'll turn back and look at it. Yeah, she'll turn back and look at it. What if we wrap it up in a in a jacket, in a, in a jacket, in a like, bring it back and nobody can see it. I think we both know that that's probably not going to do it.

But then again, he got away from him. Really nice jacket. Then again, he got away from him and they didn't even see. So who knows? I mean, maybe that's why. Maybe it's because he had it that they couldn't even see. Maybe they want it, but they can't see it. I don't know, but we can't just let it sit there. She's going to be pointed out's glowing in the snow. You can't just walk away from that. We got to at least see what it is. Okay. All right. If nothing else, we've got to talk to chimera. He's going to know what it is. How big is the box, Jason? I would say it's about the size of a really, really nice toaster.

But it's perfectly square. Like, it is a, it is a cube. So, like, about a foot on each side. Like it's really, it's, yeah, it's like a really nice toaster. We're talking, making six bagels, like six bagels at a time. Temperature settings. Goes into a bathtub so smoothly. Oh, yeah, baby. It's called the millennial retirement plan. Yeah. Look, we take it back. Kimerer looks at it. If he can't figure out what it is and his friend doesn't have any knowledge of it, then we bring it back and we leave it. We'll leave it in the snow. I swear, but we can't just leave it.

Okay. All right. We'll take it back. maybe we stash it somewhere, maybe we bring it with us. But Camar should see it. So, come on. Actually, we're going to roll this dude. Let's just see what else he's got on him. He's a merchant. Got a nice ring or something. I don't know. Any identifying information? Ring of invisibility or anything. A one ring, perhaps. Let's say, it's not a good one. If so, I don't know. It's pretty visible. There is a sealed, another sealed like wax stamped letter. However. However. The wax stamp is kind of a bright blue and also has like a shimmer to it.

So you're guessing that you're going to like it can't just be something you go rip and open. Like it's probably it's probably like there's a little magical seal or something. something to it. Is there any pattern on the seal? Normally a seal is stamped with like an insignia of a house or something like that. Is there anything or like a royal family or something? Is there anything to that? Like a history check point too? Uh, give me history check actually. Give me, get me. Check. Huh. Oh, Jesus Christ. Let me try this too. I mean, we're both looking at it. I don't know.

Fuck. What? A five and an eight. If you put it together, that would be almost passable. Like, I don't know. Some sort of merchant, that's all I can figure out. It's human shit. I don't know. It changed our years. The only reason. I'm going to give you something. It's because one of you is from Brightport. Yes. Oh. Yeah. Don't go thinking an eight's going to get you. You didn't learn this, just so you know. It's because of where you're born and who you're from, like that's all. Fair enough. So you're going to recognize this. You're not exactly, like you're not absolutely positive.

I can't get it to you in eight. But you know this is one of the longer running families in Brightport. And you're kind of like, it's like, it's like, I think they do magic, which would make sense. Like, you're kind of filling the gaps in backwards. It's like magic, yeah, I think they do magic, but I'm not like, like I'm not super sure. Yeah, and she'd convey that. Like, I don't know. Definitely Brightport, definitely Magic is one of the families. I don't know, I never learned that stuff. I probably stole something. Maybe he knows he's one of those houses.

See, we had to take some of this stuff back to our camp now. We got to take the box. We got to take the steel. All of this is pointing to something. And we got to figure out what it is and Chet's the answer. She's just trying to get longer and to be like, yeah, fine. Ruby, this is so dangerous. I know. I don't like how you said that. All right. All right. If this dude's got like, does he have any money on him? Like, literally just he's, he's dead and he doesn't need it. True. So this looks like he was like maybe getting changed or something like that. And it just like this happened, it's like, fuck and just took off into that.

That's why he didn't last long. Like it was, you know, negative 20 and he's like in a robe. Like it's like a regular John's with the flap on the back. Oh, that's a terrible way to go. The flap's closed, it's fine. So, you know, Ruby's gonna, like, while you're, while you're looking here, and Ruby's gonna bend over and try to like get his fingers off the handles on this little, this little box, just like, just kind of like, you know. Logren's going to feel something behind him and just kind of like turning, there is a fully armored individual, like, right behind him.

And as you're getting ready to hit, you're going to realize that Baz has taken a bunch of armor and just put it on. And he's somehow equally as silent, but like, it's mismatched. It's like, I'm going to take this and I'm going to take this. And he's trying to emulate. Like, it's like, okay, you, you're in a fight. And like, you're pretty tough. So like I'm going to, you know, but somehow still as quiet. Like, still. Stealth rolls are out of this world. So yeah, Loverin jumps about a foot, which is impressive. He's never jumped high in his life. And he utters some dwarven curse word that this nine-year-old should not hear.

He's seen worse already. How many dead bodies have their pins is? It's that bad of a curse word. Um, yeah. Is that you? Um, and he's just like the helmet. It doesn't quite fit. So it's like, boom, bump, bump. Like, he's kind of reaching down. Like, he's trying to, he's like, he knows he scared him. He's like, sorry. I'm going to put a bell on you. And he's, he's reaching toward the merchant. Do we, are we taking him back? Well, none of them are going to get a proper funeral. I think we can just bury him here. Guys, I think that's a good time for us to stop for the evening.

And we'll start sorting things out next time. Sit down. Whoa. Whoa! Oh, the gold! There's a lot. Like, we're going to roll for valuables here, but... Depending on how much of the shit you want to take and weigh down, you can offload this at Esther Holt and like, it's just goods, right? Okay, yeah. Make a little mint. Oh, I mean, you can drag one of these wagons if you really want to like, if you really want to. What else is Baz for? Baz, Baz? Yeah.
