Bad Blood
What Happens
The party travels through the mountains toward Estherholt, burying the mysterious skull in a collapsed cave to hide it from pursuing demons. They encounter Kayla, an herbalist gathering ingredients, who warns them about a hag in the area and recommends an inn called Silk Sheets. As they near Estherholt, a massive burrowing creature called a bulette erupts from the ground and attacks the group.

Speaker 1: Let's do that thing. Speaker 1: We're going around the tables and introduce ourselves. Speaker 1: I'm Jason. I'm the dungeon master. Speaker 1: Going around the table starting with Jasper. Speaker 2: Hey, everybody. I'm Jasper. He-him. Speaker 2: I play Ruby Pedigrew, the Gearslinger Adept. Speaker 2: And Susan. Speaker 3: Hi, I'm Susan. Speaker 3: My pronouns are she, her, and I will be playing Nythera, Rialith, the Elvin Rogue. Speaker 4: And Ian. Speaker 4: Hey, I'm Ian. Any pronouns good, and I'm playing chimera, the Tefling Warlock.
Speaker 4: And last and certainly not least, Jameson. Speaker 5: Hey, I'm Jameson, and I am playing Logren Craigborn. He is a Dwarven, Marshall. Speaker 1: So, we have, we have cleanup to do. Speaker 1: from the last session. We have things to do. We have leveling up. I hope you guys didn't Speaker 1: forget your level up. Speaker 3: We didn't level up. We didn't level up. We didn't level up. We're like a thousand away from Speaker 5: our next level. Yeah. The kids did. Did you forget the level up? No, I did. Speaker 3: No, I did. We don't forget the level up.
Speaker 3: We're like three thousand away from level up. Speaker 3: Yeah, that's... Unless we got three thousand on that last fight. Speaker 4: I mean, we'll level up. Speaker 4: If you've got that on the scale. Speaker 6: Oh, right. Right. Leveling up. Yes. Speaker 6: Oh, yes. Yes. Speaker 1: I never said that I didn't try. Speaker 1: You know what? You guys talk yourself out of the deal. Speaker 6: I guess I really try. Speaker 3: Oh, damn it. Why are we? Speaker 6: Well, fatally honest. Speaker 1: What we do, what we do got to do is there was a mild correction that heavily Speaker 1: influenced our last Speaker 1: fight and that's a spell called Speaker 1: Suggestion.
So this is one of those Speaker 1: I can't believe I didn't step in at some point and go, hey, wait a second. Speaker 1: So the way suggestion works is exactly Speaker 1: like it was used, asking, essentially suggesting Speaker 1: that Medusa shuts her eyes, which is a great A, Speaker 1: perfect, good time suggestion. However, the second Speaker 1: she gets hit, that is the end of Speaker 1: of suggestion. Speaker 1: And not only did we not do that. Speaker 1: We beat the living shit out of her, Speaker 1: surrounded her and took her shoes somehow even though she doesn't wear them.
Speaker 1: So in the future, we'll be keeping an eye on that. Speaker 1: But what's done is done. Speaker 1: We move on. Speaker 1: We move on. Speaker 5: For the record, I'm not sorry. Speaker 5: Can we ask him publicly? Speaker 3: Can we like pause the show and be like, Jameson, what are you doing? Speaker 5: No, I was talking specifically about the suggestion thing. Speaker 5: I'm also not sorry about the other thing. Speaker 4: Did you 12 thing? Speaker 5: Yeah. Speaker 5: Yeah. Speaker 4: I thought I had the scenes. Speaker 4: I thought I had read everything on that spell.
Speaker 4: It is about five paragraphs long. Speaker 5: It's a long as well. Speaker 5: There's a lot of stipulation. Speaker 1: It's one of those things that like it should have occurred to all of us. Speaker 1: But especially, Bart. Speaker 1: Like, it should have occurred to me. Speaker 1: I can't believe I didn't say anything. Speaker 1: Anywho, doesn't matter. Speaker 2: I feel like there's, I feel like there are narrative ways of making it be okay. Speaker 1: Sure. Speaker 2: But also being kind of on one-off. Speaker 6: Yeah, never again.
Speaker 1: So it's one of those things where like if, if I have like a boss that uses Speaker 1: suggestion and it completely takes one of you out of the fight or, Speaker 1: I think every single one of you would go, I don't get to save. Speaker 1: I don't get to do anything. Speaker 1: It would definitely be, you know, but this was like 40th level suggestion. Speaker 1: Maybe chimera is a god. Speaker 1: We don't know. Speaker 1: So you guys have this box with a skull in it. Speaker 1: Very important skull you found out. Speaker 1: You know that beings are looking for it.
Speaker 1: And at the end of the last session, you found out that Kolgoth has been shielding you, essentially, from the magic that they used to locate this thing. Speaker 1: They were trying to track you, and they have no beat on you. Speaker 1: It's essentially the one ring. Speaker 1: As long as you don't put it on, you're fine. Speaker 1: But it's taking a toll on him, and he essentially... Speaker 1: You guys got to do something because I can't keep this up much longer. Speaker 1: And I believe your solution was to start, like, start digging a hole or find a place in this Speaker 1: cavern where you can just ditch this thing.
Speaker 1: Drop it into the center of the earth. Speaker 2: Whatever. Speaker 2: Pretty much. Speaker 2: I mean, Chimera, if Colgoth says something to Chimera, and then Chimera just got Ruby's a Speaker 2: and said, we got to get rid of this thing. Speaker 2: We got to dig a hole, whatever it is. Speaker 2: I don't think Ruby's like, what are you talking about? Speaker 2: I think it would have been like just shorthand, like, do this. Speaker 6: I'll explain later. Speaker 2: And Ruby was just, yes, I'll do it. Speaker 2: Let's take care of it.
We'll figure it out. Speaker 2: So she ran, got whatever she needed to get. She got the box, got shovels, whatever, Speaker 2: threw one over at chimera, and then ran into the deepest, darkest, Speaker 2: back corner of this cavern. Speaker 2: that reasonably so I should say. Speaker 2: You know, not like wantonly, but just trying to find a place and then just started digging. Speaker 2: And I think if Kimera joined her, she would just be frantically digging, you know, like determined Speaker 2: digging, not panic digging, but determined. Speaker 2: And she would probably say, all right, tell me what's up.
Speaker 4: She's just digging. Speaker 4: Yeah. Speaker 4: Yeah. Speaker 4: Well, Speaker 4: Colgoth hasn't been around because he's shielding us from this Speaker 4: and from the people looking for this. Speaker 4: And he can't do it for very much longer. Speaker 4: So we've got to get rid of this now. Speaker 4: Just like the note said, in the deepest, darkest place we can find, Speaker 4: and get out of here. Speaker 4: That's what we're going to do. Speaker 2: We should have done that from the beginning. Speaker 2: This was a really bad idea.
Speaker 2: I'll take that blame. Speaker 2: Thank you. Speaker 5: Lager and standing by in the two of you while you're digging. Speaker 5: He's like, I fell in a really deep hole like an hour ago. Speaker 5: You're going to just throw it in there? Speaker 5: You're not going to dig that deep. Speaker 2: She's just going to. Speaker 2: Just to get a shovel. Speaker 3: And then Nighttheir who's like cutting off one of the heads of the menususus snakes to get the venom. Speaker 3: I also have this and then that that light saber knife. Speaker 3: I can.
I think I can animate dead. What if I just animate her pointing to the corpse and just have her walk in a direction? Speaker 4: With it? Speaker 4: Yeah. Speaker 4: Well, we don't want anyone else to find it. Speaker 3: Well, I think those demons are going to find it even if we dig a really deep hole. Speaker 4: Oh, oh. Speaker 3: Unless we find one to the center of the earth, I'm pretty sure that they're going to travel as far and as long as they can. Speaker 4: Are there any holes in here? Speaker 4: I look around. Are there like ice caverns or anything?
Speaker 4: thing. Speaker 1: Yeah, there's definitely Speaker 1: like crevices, crevasses, whatever. Speaker 1: And you could throw it into a deep, dark pit. Speaker 1: There's a common sense question that needs to be asked. Speaker 1: If it were that simple, why hasn't someone else done it? Speaker 5: How deep is the total cave there? Speaker 5: we're in right now, right? Because like, I'm looking at our, on our map on the table, but I don't know if that's Speaker 5: accurately like 100% what we're dealing with right now. Yeah. It is. Okay. How do you, how do you mean?
Speaker 5: Like, what's like is this one to one the cave that we're talking about right now? Or is this just like Speaker 1: a representation of a cave? It's a representation of. So like I, I picture in the corners and stuff like Speaker 1: that. There's, you know, ice you can break away. And then there's probably pits that drop down. Speaker 1: hundreds of feet. Speaker 5: Okay. Speaker 5: So I'll just say what Cater what Largan's thinking then, which is we just collapse this cave. Speaker 2: Yeah. Speaker 5: Just bring the whole thing down. Speaker 2: Ruby was with you.
Speaker 2: Truly, that's what I was starting to think too. Speaker 5: Yeah. Speaker 2: Was, could we just put it here, shove it somewhere, and then just close it up? Speaker 2: I mean, wait, wait, it. Ruby would be basically like immediately lock and I was like, Speaker 2: Yes. Speaker 2: Thinking about engineering. Speaker 2: How would you break it down? Speaker 2: Looking up, looking up, looking up. Speaker 2: I mean, there's no hole deep enough, but there may be holes further away than just them walking by and finding this thing. Speaker 2: I mean, who knows who they are.
Speaker 2: Who knows why they want it? Speaker 2: All we got to do is just keep it as hidden as we possibly can. Speaker 2: And if Cold Gough can keep us hidden, then maybe this plate could just collapse. Speaker 4: I like that a lot. Speaker 3: Kind of be enough. Speaker 2: Yeah. Speaker 4: I think you got it. Speaker 3: I mean, they were... Speaker 4: I'm there, please. Speaker 3: And then we get as far away as possible. Speaker 3: I don't want to be anywhere near them. Speaker 4: I mean, they were close to this thing when they were looking for it and they missed it.
Speaker 4: So it got away from them. Speaker 4: All right. Speaker 5: Yeah, the keys to keep it moving. Speaker 5: But if we drop it in here, then we keep moving without it. Speaker 2: How about this? Speaker 2: She's going to look over at the kids. Speaker 2: We got some hurt folks here. Speaker 2: We can't keep letting that happen. Speaker 2: We've got to do something about that. Speaker 2: That's another conversation. Speaker 2: What we've got to do is get everybody here to Esther Holt as quickly as possible. Speaker 2: I say, Speaker 2: Loggerin you and me, we know what we're doing with stone and with blowing stuff up.
Speaker 2: Let's let them get on the road. Speaker 2: We'll catch up. Speaker 1: By this time, Chet's back up, has his backup. Speaker 1: Or is still, like, helping Chet get up. Speaker 1: And Vetti is by this point kind of like, kind of tiptoeing toward the group, like, Speaker 1: like, friendly eavesdropping. Speaker 1: Because it obviously, like, directly after the fight, Speaker 1: It's like, oh, panic. Speaker 1: Let's dig a whole something. Speaker 1: And they figured it's, okay, let's give them a couple of minutes. Speaker 1: We'll recoup.
Speaker 1: And now Vetti's kind of get to the point. Speaker 1: It's like, are we blowing up a cave? Speaker 1: Because I would love. Speaker 1: I think I could be pretty good at that. Speaker 4: Do you have more alchemist fire hidden away in that backpack, Betty? Speaker 1: I don't. Speaker 1: I don't. Speaker 1: But. Speaker 1: I thought something would come to me. Speaker 1: It didn't. Speaker 1: I've knocked down a couple of buildings before. Speaker 1: It wasn't on purpose at the time, but I did learn a lot from the experience. Speaker 2: I feel like I don't remember.
Speaker 2: Was there something... Speaker 2: Sorry, I'm interjecting. Speaker 2: Sure. Speaker 2: When we did some looting and finding some fun stuff in the caravan, Speaker 2: I feel like there was something. Speaker 2: thing explosive. Speaker 3: Is that not true? Speaker 3: We got explosive arrows. Speaker 3: Yeah. Speaker 2: That's right. Speaker 5: We're all the alchievous dragon, Speaker 3: which is a 60 foot cone of like Speaker 3: basically 10 alchemist fires. Speaker 2: Right. Speaker 6: That's what it was. Speaker 3: Okay. Speaker 3: So there was the explosive.
Speaker 2: I mean, man, that's almost kismet. Speaker 2: Jesus. Speaker 2: Yeah. Speaker 2: I would do it. Speaker 2: I mean, we've got all the supplies we need. Speaker 2: We just need to get everybody out of here and get this thing out of here. Speaker 2: It's the worst idea ever. Speaker 2: You should never have let me taking that box. Speaker 5: Yeah, it's all right. Speaker 5: I'll take the blame on that. Speaker 5: He looks at Vetti. Speaker 5: He looks at Vetti. You're hired. Speaker 5: And then to Camera and Nathira, Speaker 5: it's like you take the kids and get them a safe distance.
Speaker 5: We're going to bury this thing and we'll catch up. Speaker 5: Give us three hours. Speaker 5: Maybe four. Speaker 3: I harvested Speaker 3: Medusa's poison already, right? Speaker 3: Yeah, you're fine. Speaker 2: You're fine. Speaker 1: I figure. Speaker 1: Yeah, like, I figure it's, that's in your wheelhouse. Speaker 1: Like, you know what I mean? Speaker 3: I figured that one would come in handy later, guys. Speaker 3: Is there anything else? Speaker 5: I mean, now that you're, I mean, not that you said it out loud, but is there anything else of value on a Medusa, like, I don't know, eyes or something?
Speaker 5: I don't know. Speaker 1: On a Medusa. Speaker 1: Not so much. Speaker 1: However, Speaker 1: Medusa was a sentient creature and had stuff in here. Speaker 1: And I thought it would be fun. Speaker 1: On a scale of 1 to 10, Speaker 1: what is the rarity of the cool stuff? Speaker 1: And I need to volunteer to roll that die. Speaker 1: One being squalor and 10 being, holy shit, there was something really cool in here. Speaker 1: I feel like rolling a die. Speaker 1: Okay. Detenser. Speaker 1: All right. Let's do it. Speaker 7: Six ain't bad.
Speaker 7: Okay. Speaker 1: I'm going to give you guys a choice. Speaker 1: Do you want one really rare interesting item? Speaker 1: or a plethora of like uncommon to rare, you know, like standard items. Speaker 5: I mean, I feel like we got to outfit these kids, don't we? Speaker 2: Keep in it. Speaker 2: I know. Speaker 2: I'll counterpoint that for the sake of argument. Speaker 2: We can't keep these kids around probably much longer. Speaker 2: If for no other reason than their own sake. Speaker 2: Sure. Speaker 2: Yeah. Speaker 2: If we just got to rush them to Estherholds, about outfitting them, Speaker 2: it's sort of like just keep them safe, like just get them there as fast as possible.
Speaker 2: I feel like there's a bigger story going on to. Speaker 2: We can't forget about there's a whole plan for Lagrin here. Speaker 2: The bigger we've got something to help that along could be really interesting. Speaker 5: That is a strong. Speaker 2: I'm thinking very meta about that. Speaker 2: So, forgive me. Speaker 3: Well, this is a matter of choice. Speaker 3: We're not making this in character. Speaker 6: I don't know. Speaker 2: I feel like we should get something for a little. Speaker 5: All right. Speaker 5: Well, does anybody object to one big interesting item then?
Speaker 5: I think it would be cool. Speaker 3: I think we got a lot of outfitting for them last time, too. Speaker 5: That's true. Speaker 2: And they leveled up. Speaker 2: They're on their way. Speaker 2: They're on their way. Speaker 5: We are going to have another conversation about how they get involved with things. Speaker 5: But right now, we got to loot this place and bury it and then get out of here. Speaker 3: We got a chastise chat. Speaker 5: Oh, my God. Speaker 5: It always sound hot. Speaker 1: That look. Speaker 1: No matter at the time period, every young man eventually has to learn.
Speaker 1: You know, whether it be... Speaker 1: Look, this is a fairly sheltered kid up until recently. Speaker 1: And this is his first... Speaker 1: This is his first run in with what essentially today would be, I don't know, Russian bot spamming. Speaker 1: And it's like, I don't know, it seems pretty hot. Speaker 1: Like, it's like, that type of thing. Speaker 1: It's like, wait a second. Speaker 1: They always sound hot. Speaker 1: Like, that's going to stick with them. Speaker 5: That's a lesson you stick with. Speaker 5: In this episode, Chad discovers only fans, yeah.
Speaker 1: Yes. Speaker 2: I'm desperately trying to figure out a dad joke for only fans, fantasy. Speaker 2: I'm just, I forget it. Speaker 2: But it's there. Speaker 1: In this cave, in the background, Speaker 1: Vetti is taking those exploding arrows Speaker 1: and one by one carefully wedging them Speaker 1: into cracks in the thing. Speaker 1: Like it's like, well, that looks load-bearing. Speaker 1: Like, just doing that and just going all over this ante chamber Speaker 1: and, you know, like, spacing. Speaker 1: them out. Speaker 1: Kids go on places.
Speaker 2: They keep saying like, too many joists. Speaker 2: We got to get rid of the joists. Speaker 5: What a waste of joists. Speaker 5: It's a beautiful ones in here. Speaker 5: It's a damn shame. Natural joists. Speaker 5: Right. Natural joists. Speaker 5: I love a set of naturals. Speaker 6: Natural joys. Speaker 6: A big natural joys. Speaker 6: It's crying, shame. Speaker 1: Uh-huh. Speaker 1: God. Speaker 1: That's the name of the episode. Speaker 1: Big natural. Speaker 6: I know. Speaker 6: Stop naming episodes after my inside. Speaker 1: Stop being spot on.
Speaker 5: I don't know what to do. Speaker 5: I don't know what to do. Speaker 1: You guys, in the midst of, you know, Speaker 1: vetting these arrows, you're going to see. Speaker 1: one set aside and it's it's gorgeous. Speaker 1: It almost looks like it's a display piece, but it's an arrow. Speaker 1: It's silvered and the feathers on the back are specifically designed to kind of look like flames. Speaker 1: Like it is a very expensive looking arrow. Speaker 1: And that's because it's an arrow of slaying. Speaker 1: Ooh. Speaker 1: A particular kind of creature is chosen when this magic arrow is created.
Speaker 1: When the arrow of slaying damage is a creature belonging to the chosen type, heritage, or group. Speaker 1: The creature makes a DC-17 Constitution saving throw, taking an extra 60-10 piercing damage on a failed save and half as much on a successful one. Speaker 3: This whole was made for one dude named Bob. Speaker 1: I'm going to say this was probably made for monstrosities. Speaker 1: Because this was probably a thing Speaker 1: someone took in here trying to kill Medusa. Speaker 1: I mean, it just didn't get it off in time. Speaker 4: Yeah.
Speaker 4: Oh, man, you know it would be cool too Speaker 4: as if it's like in a stone dude. Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. Speaker 4: Like he's like you know, like some adventure has drawn it back Speaker 4: and the arrow is just in there. Speaker 4: But the adventure is also doing. Speaker 5: That's a good point. Speaker 5: Are there like stone people in here? Speaker 5: There are a lot of like victims? Speaker 5: Honestly, it's not full on like Greek mythology type of stuff. Speaker 1: You're going to see bits and pieces like hands and legs and stuff.
Speaker 1: But mostly that would take up space. Speaker 1: And she's got to live here. Speaker 1: So it's, you know what I mean? Speaker 5: So there's a field out back where they're just piled up. Speaker 4: Right. Speaker 4: It's, you know, those drops in the cave are just full of like broken stations. Speaker 5: She keeps the hands because they're good ashtrays. Speaker 3: Yeah. Speaker 3: Someone is holding to be 200 feet. Speaker 3: Now they're 100 feet because they're filtered. Speaker 2: Yeah. Speaker 2: Yeah. Speaker 2: This foot. Speaker 2: This stone foot bring me joy.
Speaker 6: It's a good. Speaker 6: It's a good. Speaker 6: Medusa condo. Speaker 1: So, okay. Speaker 1: Everyone, who's staying and who's leaving? Speaker 1: Um, so like, Speaker 1: Logrin, Ruby. Speaker 1: Well, actually, yeah. Speaker 1: Camero. Speaker 4: Camero will say, um, actually, I may want to stay with you because Colgoth is the one who's keeping this on the DL. Speaker 6: And if you're going to be around it, I should be around y'all. Speaker 4: I mean, fair enough. Speaker 5: I can't argue with that. Yeah. Speaker 3: Um, I guess I'm on mother head duty.
Speaker 2: I mean, well, we don't want to split everybody up now. It wasn't that. It's just to keep everybody safe. Speaker 2: But I guess maybe you're right. She's going to sort of. Speaker 2: point over your shoulder. She's going to, she's pointing and saying, I mean, he's keeping us safe. Speaker 2: And. Thank you. Speaker 2: She'll say. See, he's not all bad. Speaker 2: Ruby will roll her eyes and just turn, but she won't say yes or no. But she didn't say no or yes or Speaker 1: whatever. She's an embell. Speaker 1: It's completely. Speaker 1: obviously.
Speaker 6: Yeah, totally. Speaker 1: It's a giver. Speaker 1: It's a giver. Speaker 2: Well, Ruby's going to take whatever time she needs to do from an engineering point of Speaker 2: view to sort of figure out, you know, where things should go, help vetty, you know, point Speaker 2: things around. Speaker 2: How many of those exploding hours do we have? Speaker 2: 20. Speaker 2: 20? Speaker 5: Oh, we don't even need to use the alchemist fire then. Speaker 5: If we've got 20 exploding arrows. Speaker 1: Well, what she was going to do, and this is one of those things where when the alchemist fire Speaker 1: sets in.
When she gets to that, you might want to go, Speaker 1: but but but but but. But it's throw all these arrows, like throw, like, you know, Speaker 1: wedge them in and then very carefully pour the alchemist fire back, like a fuse almost. Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. And then, you know, because it's set off by sudden sharp impacts or fire or Speaker 1: lots of things, actually. But if you carefully pour it out. Speaker 5: I mean, I feel like we have enough other things that we can use as a giant wick that is Speaker 5: sure. Speaker 5: Not a legendary item of potentially great future importance.
Speaker 1: And so these kids are, it's like, you guys must find this stuff all the time. Speaker 1: Because we've only been on the road for you like a week. Speaker 1: And like we'll get more stuff. Speaker 1: And it's going to make a pretty awesome explosion. Speaker 1: Like it's being thorough, that type of thing. Speaker 1: But if you explain it, it's like, you're like, Speaker 1: Yeah, that's fine. Speaker 5: That's fine. Speaker 5: So we like dunk a rope in oil or something like that. Speaker 5: Sure. Speaker 5: Rope's way cheaper. Speaker 5: Way cheaper.
Speaker 5: They just give these things out. Speaker 5: I mean, we stole these ones, but yeah. Speaker 5: They would if you ask. Speaker 5: Yeah. Speaker 4: Are we? Speaker 4: Got them on a bet. Speaker 4: Are we using all the exploding arrows? Speaker 4: You need them all for the to bring this thing down. Speaker 4: I mean, can we make an engineering? Speaker 5: check to see how many we think we need. Speaker 5: I'd like to be more thorough Speaker 5: an edge on the side of error Speaker 5: on the side of... Speaker 1: This needs to be a crater.
Speaker 1: Well, if we need an engineering check, I know who we're Speaker 1: looking at. So... Speaker 1: Yeah. Speaker 1: So are we, like, Speaker 3: putting the skull, like, down a Speaker 3: 100 foot crevice and then collapsing Speaker 3: the cave above it? I mean, why not? Speaker 6: I think we're going to try to collapse the entire cave Speaker 6: above that. Speaker 5: Yeah. Yeah. Speaker 5: Yeah. So Barry it and then bury it again. Speaker 5: Yeah. So Jasper, with me and Vetti assisting, I think you get a D6 plus two. Speaker 2: D6 plus two.
And I cannot remember if I use my expertise die once per day. I bet I did in the combat. Speaker 2: So I'm not going to use that. So a D6 plus two. All right. Speaker 3: I'm going to take a short rest. Oh, wait. Yeah, that's right. Speaker 6: Yeah, all the kid. Speaker 6: Yeah. Speaker 1: So everyone else is kind of limping out like, oh. Speaker 1: Oh, good. Okay. Speaker 1: Eight health back to Nithera. Speaker 1: Like I imagine Chet is kind of leaning against the wall, like that, that poison is Speaker 1: is slowly wearing off and you guys walk back throughout the cave.
Speaker 1: And it's going to be silent again. Speaker 1: but if there's any talk Speaker 1: it's like Speaker 1: I could see why they'd always sound hot. That's a good trick. Okay. Speaker 1: All right. Speaker 1: So. Speaker 5: I get it, but Speaker 1: I thought there was someone in trouble. Speaker 1: Like his voice is real low because it's like he doesn't want the echoes to pick up in the case. Speaker 1: It's like I just thought I thought she was in trouble and Speaker 5: Yeah, like, just kind of let that sentence die. Speaker 5: And Logren's like working on like the rope wick while he's, so he's not like looking at him.
Speaker 5: He's very much like dad working on the engine type thing while he's, well he's talking to him. Speaker 5: And he's like, listen, that's what she's made to do. Speaker 5: It fools a lot of people. Speaker 5: It's not just you. Speaker 5: Now you know what will happen again, right? Speaker 5: I don't think this situation is going to come up again. Speaker 5: but no, I'm not, you know. Speaker 5: I mean, it's happened twice. Speaker 5: We've been on the road for a week. Speaker 1: That's a fair point. Speaker 1: All right. Okay. Speaker 3: And when we're in an abandoned cave in the middle of nowhere, Speaker 3: and you hear someone whispering sweet nothings to you, Speaker 3: I can guarantee they're trying to kill you.
Speaker 1: They were really sweet nothings. Speaker 1: I bet. Speaker 3: I could list in the dozens the number of men I've killed that way. Speaker 1: There's going to be realization on his face like, holy shit. Speaker 5: Like that's like I think that stops a couple people because like logging moves up too. Speaker 5: Like holy shit. Speaker 5: Like Jesus. Speaker 3: I wasn't. Speaker 3: And then just going to look at you guys and then go, I wasn't always old. Speaker 3: And then like just stop. Speaker 3: Like walk off. Speaker 3: off. Speaker 5: I think it's probably still work now.
Speaker 4: With the way she's walking like that, you know it still works. Speaker 4: In fact, hang on, I'll be right back. Speaker 5: I'm going to go get myself killed. Speaker 1: So that's a 29 for your engineering check. Speaker 1: That'll just do, I think. Speaker 1: So you're, you figure 15 of these arrows is probably, that'll be enough to get you there. Speaker 1: And while these do explode, it's not like an incredible explosion. Speaker 1: It's, you know, but if you're putting them in spots here that are load bearing or it look Speaker 1: like they could lead to a cave in, 15 of these lined up is going to do quite a bit of damage.
Speaker 2: I feel with that engineering check, I think it's a controlled explosion. Speaker 2: It's very clear for her. Speaker 2: Like, there, there, there, there, there, there with a little bit over there and there. Speaker 2: It's not going to be unsafe for us. Speaker 2: If we're even close by, it's going to be perfect. Speaker 2: But boy, is it going to do a hell of a lot of damage. Speaker 2: It's like when they blow up casinos. Speaker 1: Like, you know what I mean? Speaker 1: Yeah, it doesn't. Speaker 1: Yeah, there you go. Speaker 2: Okay.
Speaker 2: I mean, we just got to get all our stuff out of there. Speaker 2: We got to get ready. Speaker 2: And I think somebody's got to be the person in charge of lighten that fuse. Speaker 2: Who should do the honors? Speaker 2: Oh, Vetti is so, so ready. Speaker 1: Just so ready. Speaker 2: Not there. Speaker 2: Can I bar your lighter? Speaker 2: I'm just kidding. Speaker 2: Heavy smoker, by the way. Speaker 3: Oh, yeah. Speaker 3: Definitely. Speaker 3: Been trying to quit for you. Speaker 2: Yeah. Speaker 2: Yeah. Speaker 3: No, I wouldn't take that away from vetti.
Speaker 1: So how far? Speaker 1: So, okay, outside the cave. Speaker 1: You guys are backing up how far? Speaker 1: I would like a hundred yards, right? Speaker 5: Like way back. Speaker 1: Just in case, right? Speaker 1: Like, just, you know. Speaker 5: And this is, I need. Speaker 5: I feel the need to ask this, but we're not in the mountains yet, right? Speaker 1: We're not at risk of an avalanche from this. Speaker 5: No, no, no. Speaker 1: That would be, that would be, that would be, that would be. Speaker 1: What does it result? Speaker 5: If we were in the mountains, that would be a very real risk.
Speaker 5: We'd be running. Speaker 5: Of course, then fine, whatever, you know. Speaker 2: Yeah, you're not quite there, yeah. Speaker 5: Okay. Speaker 2: Oh, before this all happens to, I did want to be. Speaker 2: So Ruby has, this, whatever this skull was in that box, Speaker 2: before throwing it down into whatever crevass or whatever, any crack that they found. Speaker 2: She would take a, she would put it on like a mask. Speaker 2: No, no, no. Speaker 2: No, no. Speaker 2: No, no. Speaker 2: What I meant, I meant to say this earlier, she would sketch it in her little sketchbook that she always, or not sketch, but her little notebook, she's always writing down her equations and whatever's and whatever's and think Loggerna'll tell her to write things down in it.
Speaker 2: She just in case of talking about it later, it's like having some sort of image of it. Speaker 2: Just to say it looked kind of like this, kind of with sizes, dimensions, maybe from a couple different angles. Speaker 2: There might be someone in Asterold who can handle this. Speaker 4: And we maybe we can tell them about this and where it is if we find that person. Speaker 4: And what they're dealing with and what they might be up against. Speaker 4: But it's better out of our hands and away from these. Speaker 2: We have to make an agreement though.
Speaker 2: Nobody knows where this is. Speaker 2: I'm terrified. Speaker 2: I'll be honest with you. Speaker 2: We can't even pretend that we know where it is. Speaker 2: We can say that we maybe saw it somewhere, but nobody. Speaker 2: Gotta swear it. Speaker 2: She holds up her pinky. Speaker 4: Pinky swear. Speaker 4: I wouldn't dare. Speaker 4: Cross my heart and hope to die. Speaker 4: Don't do that. Speaker 4: Oh, sorry. Speaker 4: I thought it would be fun. Speaker 2: I know the dime part. Speaker 4: I don't think I'll be doing it any time soon.
I'm going to try anyway. Speaker 2: So Vettie's got to like this thing. I imagine we're probably all pretty far back. Speaker 2: Vettie's going to have to do the lighting and then run. Speaker 6: Kind of like a kind of like a firework. Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. So it's got to be like a 150 feet of rope, like, you know, Speaker 1: just kind of snaking throughout the Speaker 1: It's like, okay. Speaker 1: So she's going to like this and then turn around and just book it back. Speaker 1: You know, but like grinning ear to ear while she's booking it.
Speaker 1: It's like, oh, my God, it's going to be such a big explosive. Speaker 1: So just like, like, and going to get back to you guys in for a long time, like longer than you figured it would be. Speaker 1: Like, nothing happens. Speaker 1: And you're going to faint. Speaker 1: here like, p p p p p p p p p p p p p p and Speaker 1: ice and snow it's just going to come billowing out of the mouth of this cavern and into the sky Speaker 1: kind of mixed with like smoke. Speaker 1: And it's a pretty clear message. Speaker 1: It's like, yeah, that's pretty fucked in there.
Speaker 1: Like that's, you know, stuff blew up, you know? Speaker 3: In the moment that it's taking too long where we're probably all looking to each other, Speaker 3: Nathan is going to like smirk at Speaker 3: chimera. You've probably Speaker 3: experienced men like that too, right? Speaker 4: I've had to do my fair share of Speaker 4: killing them as well, yes. Speaker 8: Never finish when you want them to. Speaker 6: And then they explodes. Speaker 5: The Speaker 5: Fibble. Speaker 5: It's cold out. Let's go. Speaker 3: You don't have to take it personally.
Speaker 5: It's under a lot of pressure, is all. Speaker 3: Didn't mean to hit a sore spot. Speaker 5: Just bickering for the next ten minutes. Speaker 1: Oh. All right. Okay. So that's where you guys are. You're just shy of the mountains. Speaker 1: And I believe last time we agreed that every time you travel, we're doing three days. Like, just kind of, Speaker 1: you know, it kind of moved this along a bit. But I need to travel time. Speaker 1: I'll do it. Speaker 4: D100 please. Speaker 4: You got it. Speaker 3: I feel like we're always... Speaker 3: D-47.
Speaker 5: Would it be possible to get a mark on the map Speaker 5: for where we buried this thing just in case it comes up? Speaker 2: Absolutely. Speaker 2: Good idea. Speaker 5: The whole icon on there. Speaker 1: Because I know what we would... Speaker 5: certainly mark it. Speaker 1: Yeah. Speaker 1: Yeah. Let me, you know what? Speaker 1: Let me set that up for you right now, actually. Speaker 2: Yeah, and on the map, not like a big circle with an arrow on it, but like a like a smudge that could plausibly not be putting out anything. Speaker 2: You don't want to draw an evil skull?
Speaker 2: Beware. Speaker 2: End of world here. Speaker 3: Oh, guys, what did we do? Speaker 4: We left an adventure for someone else's what we did. Speaker 5: That sounds like a limited Patreon series right there. Speaker 5: There's your limited quest. Speaker 5: Far flung in the future of Theria. Speaker 5: Some asshole buried a skull. Speaker 5: You have to go get it. Speaker 3: What if it's ready? Speaker 3: Receration. Speaker 5: Please don't let it be resurrection. Speaker 9: Instantly puts on the school. Speaker 5: Then we just pack it in on the setting, I think.
Speaker 2: New world. Speaker 5: Skipterian space. Speaker 1: Let's go. Speaker 1: That's when I have. Speaker 1: That's when I have. Speaker 1: Local businesses and just Speaker 1: dust off the old resume. Speaker 1: Man, I'm unhireable. Speaker 1: Man, am I unhirable? Speaker 2: While we're walking, while we're getting out of there, I think Ruby would pull Nithera. Speaker 2: Not a side, but just as they're trudging, she'd be chitchatting. Speaker 2: And she just, we, I keep thinking, these kids have been out here with us for what, a week, maybe less.
Speaker 2: How many times have they almost died? Speaker 2: All of them. Speaker 2: I mean, times, we almost died. Speaker 2: I feel like, I know we've got plans here, but we've got to start saying our kids. Speaker 2: goodbyes now because we can't Speaker 2: we can't do this to them Speaker 2: and we can't just abandon them. We got to let this be Speaker 2: for their sake. Speaker 3: You're not wrong Speaker 3: that Speaker 3: they need to settle down somewhere Speaker 3: that no one should be living outside of the cities or traveling.
Speaker 3: But then you also have to remember, Ruby, that Speaker 3: they were going to be killed if found in Aubrey. Speaker 3: They were going to be kicked out of Aubrey. Speaker 3: I think they've had a better shot with us. Speaker 3: Yes, they've taken a few hits. Speaker 3: Yes, they faced misfortune. Speaker 3: But can you imagine them on their own? Speaker 2: They wouldn't have made it 20 yards outside of Aubrey without something pouncing on them. Speaker 3: Yeah. Speaker 2: I guess you're right. Speaker 3: So I wouldn't hold on to any blame or think this is your or our fault.
Speaker 3: They've had a much better chance of survival with us. Speaker 3: but you're right. Speaker 3: I don't think they should be out here. Speaker 3: And Esther holds a good as city is any for them. Speaker 2: I just don't want to be responsible for... Speaker 2: And she'll point it chat. Speaker 2: She'll point it bad. Speaker 2: Just everybody that's gone down in a fight. Speaker 2: I just feel like we've got our own burdens. Speaker 2: We've got our own plans. Speaker 2: I don't want to do that to them. Speaker 2: But I see your point. Speaker 2: Maybe they got what they needed from us.
Speaker 2: Serendipity, you know? Speaker 3: They learned a few lessons. Speaker 3: They made it to Esther Holt. Speaker 3: Hopefully, we make it. Speaker 2: What could go wrong, she says? Speaker 2: This should be pretty easy. Speaker 3: I could see it in the distance, I think. Speaker 3: But Ruby, your heart's in the right place. Speaker 2: I don't know. Speaker 2: about that. Speaker 2: I think I'm just feeling a lot of guilt. Speaker 2: I keep thinking about the shadows. Speaker 2: I keep thinking about what we do to the world. Speaker 2: Have we done anything?
Speaker 3: Let's not think about that one. Speaker 3: If we didn't find the box and bury it, Speaker 3: someone else would have. Speaker 3: Anybody would have opened the box. Speaker 3: That's a nature of a closed box. Everybody wants to open it. Speaker 2: I mean, maybe you're right again. Maybe that box needed to be found by us so that it couldn't be found again. Speaker 2: All right. Thanks for cheering me up. Speaker 3: Well, thanks for always being the heart of the group. Speaker 3: Leading us in the right way. Speaker 2: She's already drinking some booze that she has.
Speaker 2: And probably the good stuff. Speaker 2: Taking a swig. Speaker 3: And that's an idea we'll take it from you. Speaker 5: And at some point over the three days, Speaker 5: I don't think we have to play it out necessarily Speaker 5: because we've already done Logrin gives Stern talking to to children. Speaker 5: But I think there's going to be another one of those. Speaker 5: Like, listen, you guys got to stay behind us. Speaker 5: Like, I don't want anybody getting right up in the face of anything we have to fight anymore. Speaker 5: Please just like take a bow and arrow.
Speaker 5: pick stuff off from the back. Speaker 5: Like, you're not ready for the up front. Speaker 5: You know, like, we're not ready for close combat yet. Speaker 5: We're just not there. Speaker 5: We'll keep training. Speaker 5: We're not there yet. Speaker 5: Sorry. Speaker 5: Like, you keep, every way to say you keep getting knocked out with that actually saying, Speaker 5: you keep getting knocked out. Speaker 5: But, like, help me help you. Speaker 3: I think because Chet seems to have a more, like, chagrin, like, Speaker 3: he's playing it off like oh yeah I fucked up he's not like taking it like really hard like he Speaker 3: understands that he did something wrong that's the reason why nice hero would unless vetti and Speaker 3: aura and then they would every once in a while jokingly go you hootette like like pretending Speaker 3: like oh oh like he's good you fell for it you idiot but we're just messing with him Speaker 5: Just doing their best Medusa impression at them.
Speaker 3: Yeah. Speaker 5: Yeah. Speaker 5: He's a very teenager thing. Speaker 1: Over the next two days of walking, right? Speaker 1: Chat specifically, but everyone is still kind of pressing you guys. Speaker 1: It's like, okay, let's train. Speaker 1: Let's get better. Speaker 1: Let's get better. Speaker 1: Like, they are taking. Speaker 1: taking this very seriously because it feels like, well, it is. Speaker 1: Every couple of days, a life or death situation occurs. Speaker 1: And it's like, hey, if we take this seriously enough, we will get better.
Speaker 1: And, you know, we won't be a liability. Speaker 1: That's what's on Chet's mind specifically. Speaker 1: And especially after he gets teased about the Medusa thing. Speaker 1: Like, real quiet, like, locks his jaw just, shut up. Speaker 1: Like, just like, kind of defensive, but like, he knows he. Speaker 1: It's like, okay, yeah, that's. Speaker 1: The only way to live this down is to live long enough for someone else to screw up that bad. Speaker 1: That's the only way to like get over it. Speaker 1: But there will be a point where even after teasing him or we'll be like, Speaker 1: you know, it was, it was kind of brave of you to go in there and try to save somebody, you know, Speaker 1: but that still takes a backseat to the teasing, the constant, like, you know what I mean?
Speaker 5: Yeah, and we still do the training for those days. Speaker 5: And a lot of it, I think, for at least for Lagrin, is going to be more like, okay, so when there's a fight, Speaker 5: I want to focus less on your swordsmanship and more on like, Speaker 5: reading the terrain, what's going on? How can I be useful? Maybe I can stand over here and throw Speaker 5: rocks at it. Maybe we don't run up and hit it with a sword necessarily. Oh, oh, I was a, I thought of some Speaker 3: training for Vetti. Okay, so instead of just like straight up combat, like one of them's going to be like Speaker 3: shadow tag, which is where Vetti has to sneak up on Nithera and mark where her shadow was in some way.
Speaker 6: and she has to do it without being seen or heard. Speaker 3: Or what was the other one? Speaker 3: She's blindfolded and she has to find Nyfeera. Speaker 3: Like Nythira is in her stealth mode and she has to find Nythira and the clearing they're in. Speaker 3: Stuff like that. Speaker 1: You've given thought to this. Speaker 1: Like here. Speaker 1: Yeah. Speaker 1: Okay. Speaker 5: So a Largering does. Speaker 5: does is he carves a number of small miniature stone figurines. Speaker 5: And he draws out a board of about 60 by 44 inches.
Speaker 6: Oh, no. Speaker 1: Oh, no. Speaker 1: How much does he charge for these figurines? Speaker 5: First one's free. Speaker 5: Oh, no. Speaker 1: So what I'm going to do right now, before we get to the result. Speaker 1: of the role. Speaker 1: I'm going to level the kids up. Speaker 1: So officially, Speaker 1: they cross the threshold into level three, Speaker 1: and they have quite a long ways before level four. Speaker 1: So they get archit. Speaker 1: They actually get archetypes. Speaker 1: You guys are still miles ahead of them, but, you know, Speaker 1: they essentially power leveled the first time, Speaker 1: because they're kind of drafting on your XP.
Speaker 1: So, Speaker 1: So Baz is going to take a level of berserker. Speaker 1: And this is probably after talking to somebody in the group, Speaker 1: because he has not let that hammer go since finding it. Speaker 1: And fighting with his fist is not working. Speaker 1: And he's just kind of like asking probably Logrin. Speaker 1: It's like, okay, how do I? Speaker 1: Like, you're tough. Speaker 1: How? Speaker 1: Should I punch things or should I like swing this? Speaker 1: And if I do swing this, how do I, you know, but he's not exactly channeling rage.
Speaker 1: Like he's not, he's not that guy. Speaker 1: So he would be like, logger always seems pretty even tempered. Speaker 1: So probably ask him at some point. Speaker 1: It's like, all right. Speaker 1: How do you get mad? Speaker 1: Like how do you, how do you, how do you channel that into like strength? Speaker 5: Yeah. Speaker 5: I mean, he's definitely strong enough to use that hammer. Speaker 5: effectively. So he Speaker 5: does that. Speaker 5: Does Baz actually Speaker 5: asks him how he gets mad to God? I think that would be the most Speaker 5: awkward, like, stilted conversation ever between these two Speaker 5: conversationalists, right?
Speaker 7: Yes. Speaker 5: But, Speaker 5: Lergan's like, Speaker 5: I think a lot about my family. Speaker 5: That doesn't. Speaker 5: Can you have family? Speaker 1: I think so. Speaker 5: I'm not sure if they're alive. Speaker 6: Okay, pretend they are. Speaker 5: Angry and pretend that they're alive and that they're terrible. Speaker 5: Just the worst. Speaker 5: He's kind of mulling that over. Speaker 1: He's kind of mulling that over and family's supposed to be a source of. Speaker 1: solace, strength. Speaker 5: Yours is not. Speaker 5: No, they're not.
Speaker 5: It might be. Speaker 5: But they haven't been for a long time. Speaker 5: So, Speaker 1: as grew up in a culture Speaker 1: where feelings aren't Speaker 1: a huge thing, right? Speaker 1: Very, you know, a very button-down people. Speaker 1: But since being exposed to stuff in Alara, he's going to try to mimic some of the stuff he's seen. Speaker 1: So he's going to put a hand on Logrin's shoulder. Speaker 1: I'm sorry, your family is terrible. Speaker 1: If you need to cry. Speaker 1: I will not tell the others. Speaker 5: And Lagerin, despite his best effort, Speaker 5: jumps a little bit when he touches, what he puts his hand or before.
Speaker 5: And he kind of looks at his hand and he looks at him and says, Speaker 5: Okay. Speaker 5: I probably won't. Speaker 5: I don't think I've cried in 63 years. Speaker 5: But I'll let you know. Speaker 5: no. So anyway, this hammer Speaker 5: he's going to immediately move away. You know what? Speaker 5: The emotional angle was in the right angle. So we're going to try something else. Speaker 5: Imagine the person you're fighting is kicking a puppy. Speaker 5: That might make you mad enough. Speaker 5: Do you like puppies? And just, you know, whatever.
Speaker 5: Okay. Speaker 1: Okay, that is for Ores. She's up to 17 hit points after taking another level of gambler. Speaker 1: Almost have enough hit points to take two hits, maybe, and then fall down. Speaker 1: If you guys keep fighting... Speaker 5: What depends if you find CR 11 monsters. Speaker 1: Right. Yeah, that was a bad role. That was, yeah. Speaker 1: Betty's taking another level of rogue. Speaker 1: She currently has 10 hit points at level two. Speaker 3: My goodness. Speaker 1: Yeah, she got a bad role last time. Speaker 1: But she's a rogue supposed to not get hit.
Speaker 3: Yeah. Speaker 3: She has half my hit points. Speaker 3: So. Speaker 1: Yeah, she's not the, she's not the Nithera kind of rogue, at least not yet. Speaker 1: It's more in theory, rogue. Speaker 1: You know what I mean? Speaker 8: Well, I mean, she's half my levels and she has half my hit points. Speaker 1: So I wanted to ask, okay, so since the very beginning, you've been training Betty. Speaker 1: It's archetype time. Speaker 1: What do you think she would be leaning towards under? Speaker 1: Because you obviously lean more assassin or, you know, stab the shit out of one target type of, you know.
Speaker 3: Right. Speaker 3: I don't think she would be leaning towards under. Speaker 3: I think she finds joy in like thievery. Speaker 3: At least that's what I've been noticing. Speaker 3: She finds joy in like the trickster parts. Speaker 3: I'm not sure if she would want to be more if I, you know, Speaker 3: I'll oppose us to the group if she'll want to be more of a thief or an arcane trickster. Speaker 1: There's a third option that I was thinking about just because of the way things have been working out in the group. Speaker 1: And that's trap smith.
Speaker 1: Like finding the weak spots and things and staying back. Speaker 1: Like that, it all falls into like the, hey, I don't have to be there if something steps into a trap or gets hampered. Speaker 1: It helps the group. Speaker 2: And I can hit it with arrows from way back here. Speaker 2: Yeah. Speaker 2: Could be a little of that engineering. Speaker 2: Probably chit chat here and there or something like that. Speaker 2: Right. Speaker 2: Part of that. Speaker 2: I don't know. Speaker 3: Yeah. Speaker 2: A little sprinkle. Speaker 3: So the investigator one.
Speaker 3: Oh, TrapSmith. Speaker 1: And yeah. Speaker 1: Yeah. Speaker 1: Let's do that. Speaker 1: And will be average. Speaker 1: So that's another. Speaker 1: Oh, man. Speaker 1: Another five hit points. Speaker 1: So she's up to 15. Speaker 3: Yeah. Speaker 3: Yeah, because I'm looking at TrapSmith. Speaker 3: She probably was hanging out with Ruby. Speaker 3: because it's like they get proficiency on engineering and tinkering tools. Speaker 3: So she's probably been hanging out with you. Speaker 2: Got some rubbing off happen here a little bit.
Speaker 2: I feel like there is a Venn diagram of stuff. Speaker 1: Meanwhile, like, or is going to, it leans way more chimera and like a little bit of, you know, Speaker 1: it's like, hey, I want to throw these cards better. Speaker 1: Can you teach me how to throw knives, basically, that type of thing? Speaker 1: But it's mostly I want to be a tricky bitch. Speaker 1: And I want to like, I never want to get it again. Speaker 6: Same. Speaker 1: That was unsavory, didn't like it. Speaker 1: And chet. Speaker 1: Buddy, old pal. Speaker 1: Now, this is interesting.
Speaker 1: I wanted to run this by you. Speaker 1: And I guess mostly through Jameson. Speaker 1: Because he's been studying fighter. Speaker 1: just like over and over. Speaker 1: Do you see that as his path? Speaker 1: Or like seeing the way he fights, is there another? Speaker 1: It's like, hey, you need to, you need to pivot. Speaker 1: You need to like broaden your resume. Speaker 5: I mean, I don't think he necessarily needs to pivot. Speaker 5: I am looking up the archetypes for fighter right now. Speaker 5: I don't know that it's necessarily a problem with the class.
Speaker 5: I think he is Speaker 5: needs to be willing to wear armor. Speaker 3: Right. Speaker 5: Or if he's not, Speaker 5: maybe pivot into something like a duelist. Speaker 5: Huh. Speaker 5: Ooh. Speaker 5: Like if he's about the show of it, Speaker 5: and he cares about the sword play more than anything else. Speaker 5: And he doesn't want to be all bulked up, Speaker 5: then he needs to be. Speaker 5: to drop the two-handed sword and be a dualist. Speaker 3: And looking at that, that is where he probably was training with Ruby and Nythera as well, Speaker 3: because they would get missed on shade and rapid current, which are both maneuvers that Ruby and Speaker 3: Ninthier and have.
Speaker 5: So that's probably something that happens over the course of those days. Speaker 5: And Logger, like, maybe it's not even Logger and somebody comes up to him. Speaker 5: I think the problem is the sword's too big, man. Speaker 5: Like, get a smaller sword and see what you can do. Speaker 5: Like, pick something lighter and you find you. Speaker 5: you can move, you know? Speaker 1: Yeah, it's basically, yeah, it's like, okay, ditch that sword or get armor. Speaker 1: Like, you know, it's one or the other. Speaker 5: If you're not, if you don't want to wear the armor, I get it.
Speaker 5: It says the man in a stone coffin. Speaker 5: But like, if you don't want to wear armor, that's fine. Speaker 5: But like, you cannot move fast enough with that big 10-pound blade to get out of the way. Speaker 5: And you keep getting smoked for it. Speaker 5: So like, duelist might be the way to go. Speaker 5: Plus, if he's from a noble house in Brideport, they'd probably taught fencing. Speaker 5: Like, I'm sure he's got that skill set, you know? Speaker 5: Plus what he can learn from right here. Speaker 1: Yeah, it's probably, it's probably that teenage thing of like, I don't want to, Speaker 1: I don't want to use any of the stuff I learned when I hated that place.
Speaker 1: I hate you know what I mean? Speaker 1: So it's probably that a little bit too. Speaker 1: So this means into the complete opposite of what he learned. Speaker 1: And that's a very teammate. Speaker 5: A teenager wants to be cloud strife. Speaker 5: for a year or two and then Speaker 5: you know. Speaker 1: I'm going to leave it up to a dice throw. Speaker 1: Okay. Speaker 1: He hears what you're saying. Speaker 1: He's going to go enforcer. Speaker 1: And he's going to find armor that fits. Speaker 1: Enforcer. Speaker 1: Enforcer.
Speaker 3: It's not a basic book. Speaker 1: Yeah, what even is that? Speaker 1: Okay, that gives him 22 health, and I have updated your place on the map. Speaker 1: You guys can see now that you are in the mountains. Speaker 5: Sorry, just in those few days of travel, too. Speaker 5: Do we hear anything from our eye in the sky? Speaker 5: Does Calgoth tell us anything? Does he recover at all? Speaker 1: I would say it takes two full days. Speaker 1: before he starts talking to chimera again. Speaker 1: And it's still, it's like he's getting over a cold, almost.
Speaker 1: Like, raspy kind of, like, speaks very low. Speaker 1: But it's not strained anymore. Speaker 1: And it's, it's very much like, hey, you guys will be safe. Speaker 1: You're fine. Speaker 1: You got rid of the thing. Speaker 1: And yeah. Speaker 1: But he'll probably be in chimera's ear. Speaker 1: about like man, it was a, that was an awfully powerful thing to just ditch. Speaker 1: Could he use that for something, I'm sure. Speaker 1: I was leverage if someone wants it that bad, but you know, maybe. Speaker 3: Told us to get rid of it.
Speaker 3: Oh, yeah. Speaker 3: Yeah. Speaker 1: Yeah. Speaker 1: But like it's now that he's not, you know, suffering anymore. Speaker 1: It's like, man, maybe we could have stuck it out. Speaker 1: Maybe we could have done something. Speaker 1: Probably spinning it in as like, hey, man, if you get me a little more power, a little more juice, we can go back and get it. Speaker 1: And then we got a stew going. Speaker 6: We got something. Speaker 1: We got something hot. Speaker 4: Camerra would definitely thank him to. Speaker 4: And I think he would also like, to everyone else be like, and.
Speaker 4: if you have anything you want to say to Golgoth, you know, now's the time. Speaker 2: So anything at all. Speaker 2: Ask him about the shadows. Speaker 4: Okay. It doesn't quite work like that. I don't can't just summon him. Speaker 4: But next time he comes around, I will make sure to ask. Speaker 2: Thanks. Speaker 2: to you. Come here. Speaker 2: I appreciate it. Speaker 1: It is now the 28th of Alta Orn. Speaker 1: We're heading into the end of the month and the end of summer. Speaker 1: Well, we got one more month of summer. Speaker 1: And then it's going to get cold.
Speaker 1: So. Speaker 3: Ha. Speaker 3: It's going to get cold. Speaker 1: You guys are squatting in the mountains here, and there's a good and bad thing about it. Speaker 1: One, it does shield you from a lot of the weather. Speaker 1: The heavy wind and stuff like that, unless you're, unless you're climbing up to plateaus, Speaker 1: you're kind of in the midst of this mountain range in between the Black Rock Mountains and the Speaker 1: blistering peaks. Speaker 1: And you are less than a week away from. Speaker 1: Esther hole. Probably five or six days as long as nothing bad happens.
Speaker 1: And you are making camp for the night on the 28th. Speaker 1: And I, anyone who's trained in perception, I'd like a role, please. Speaker 3: Oh, I am. Speaker 1: Oh, my God. Speaker 1: 24. Speaker 1: 24 from Ruby, 20 from... Speaker 1: So in the midst of you, setting up camp, you're building a fire, you're kind of setting things up so that your back is against a nice wall or cavern or something like that, just to kind of, you know, get you as much shelter as possible. Speaker 1: You're going to see a lantern. Speaker 1: And it takes you a few minutes to figure out it's a lantern, but you're going to see a lantern, but you're going to see a lantern kind of sort of.
Speaker 1: swaying back and forth. Speaker 1: And it's pretty far off in the distance. Speaker 1: And it's hard to make out much more than that just because of the weather. Speaker 1: So there is, there's, it appears as though there's another person up here somewhere. Speaker 1: At least another person. Speaker 1: They don't appear to be in a crazy big hurry or anything like that. Speaker 2: Is it look like it's just simply in parallel to us or are they coming in our direction? Speaker 2: Could we plausibly not be seen by this? Speaker 2: Or is it on the path?
Speaker 2: Like, yeah. Speaker 2: They're probably, they're probably out doing the same thing you are, Speaker 1: you are as like finding a place to camp, something like that. Speaker 1: And almost assuredly, they're either heading to Esther Holt or coming back from Hesterholt. Speaker 1: And if you watch them for a while, it appears as though they'll be walking past you. Speaker 1: You know what I mean? And it looks like they're heading back the way you came. Speaker 1: But yeah, they're probably a good 50 yards away from you, just kind of, you know, trundling along.
Speaker 1: pretty darn slow. Speaker 2: Ruby with her gloves, she's probably sitting, whatever, the fire's there, whatever. Speaker 2: Just doong, do on Logren's stone armor. Speaker 2: Don, don't, don't. Speaker 2: And then she'll just point. Speaker 5: You just knock on me. Speaker 5: What else she's supposed to do with the door? Speaker 2: What's going on? Speaker 2: She's just going to point. Speaker 2: Yeah, it's no one. Speaker 2: Right there. Speaker 2: Right there. Speaker 3: The very obvious lantern. Speaker 3: Oh, that, yeah. Speaker 5: Yeah, I meant besides that, what?
Speaker 6: Sure. Speaker 6: I'm just trying to be careful. Speaker 2: I'm just trying to be careful. Speaker 2: We go say, hey, or what? Speaker 2: we could hunker down and hope they just run right past us. Speaker 2: Do you want me to fire a warning shot? Speaker 2: I don't think we're there yet, but. Speaker 5: I mean, we've got a fire going, right? Like if they, if we can see their lantern, Speaker 1: they can see our fire. That's what. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So I it's it Speaker 1: basically just comes down to are they are they keep, are they keeping their Speaker 1: head on a swivel.
Speaker 1: Because you guys are specifically probably like going to the four corners of the camp here Speaker 1: and just like looking out into, you know what I mean? Speaker 1: You've been jumped enough that with eight of you in camp, it's like, all right, at the very Speaker 1: least, like someone's gathering wood and so we have enough people to have watch. Speaker 1: We have enough people. Speaker 1: You know, this is a lone person out and about. Speaker 1: So they might just not be looking to the west. Speaker 5: Yeah. Speaker 5: Yeah. Speaker 5: So he'll kind of take a look and be like, all right.
Speaker 5: Make sure we know where the kids are. Speaker 5: And then looks to Nithera, you make sure they don't see you. Speaker 5: And we say hi. Speaker 5: They say hi. Then whatever. Speaker 5: They say something meaner. We'll figure it out. Speaker 3: Nithera will disappear until the darkness. Speaker 5: Where'd you go? Speaker 5: I was looking right at her. Speaker 2: She's gone. Speaker 2: I honestly thought I was touching her, and all of a sudden, Speaker 2: And she's not even here. Speaker 2: I don't understand. Speaker 4: I blinked. Speaker 4: She just stepped to the side of you where you can't turn your head.
Speaker 5: That's my problem is. Speaker 5: I got a huge blind spot. Speaker 5: I'm right here. Speaker 5: I need wherever your mirrors. Speaker 9: Yeah. Speaker 9: And you have like that helmet where you really can't look over your shoulder. Speaker 9: So she's literally standing behind you. Speaker 1: It's a cross between Michael Keaton's Batman and the juggernaut. Speaker 1: So it's like, just like just. Speaker 1: constantly just pivoting like a bad action figure. Speaker 5: God, it's like she knows magic and you guys are just watching her stand behind.
Speaker 5: She's gone. Speaker 5: She moved slightly. Speaker 2: All right. Speaker 2: Well, Ruby's not going to like bounce out like happy go lucky. Speaker 2: But she would with Logrin probably. Speaker 2: I don't know what chimera would be doing. Speaker 2: But, you know, just kind of stand out a little bit further away from the camp. Speaker 2: I think importantly, to not draw somebody towards the camp, but a little bit further away from it in case. Speaker 2: It's just like, no, we're just on the road kind of a thing. Speaker 5: Yeah. Speaker 5: I think in that case, Loggerne actually stays at the camp to keep the four kids there.
Speaker 5: Like, you know, basically like somebody's coming. Speaker 5: We don't know friend or foe. Speaker 5: So just like sit tight. Speaker 5: We're going to make sure it's cool. Speaker 5: And then we'll figure it out. Speaker 2: Okay. Speaker 2: I mean, if that's the case, then Ruby would look to chimera and say, come on, well, we're just traveling, aren't we? Speaker 2: We're just traveling through. Speaker 2: You and me. Speaker 4: Yeah, sounds good. Speaker 2: I feel like we've run this before. Speaker 4: Like we're the front facing kind of, you know.
Speaker 4: Yeah. Speaker 4: Like, oh, there's nothing to see here. Speaker 4: We're just kind of just looking for camp, you know, kind of a thing. Speaker 2: But yeah, not not like bounding out to whoever this is, but just sort of plausibly hanging out. Speaker 2: If this person is going to walk by, we'd be able to say hi. Speaker 3: And Night Thera is nearby, chimera and Ruby. Speaker 3: Just not seen, though. Speaker 1: One moment. Speaker 1: Just had to make a couple of notes. Speaker 1: So you're not trying to sneak up. Speaker 1: You're more just going out there, just kind of a hey neighbor type of thing.
Speaker 1: A little bit. Speaker 1: Yeah. Speaker 2: Again, not standing right in front of the camp. Speaker 2: Like, come on in, but just more like, plausibly, we're either walking through or we're also traveling. Speaker 2: making our way to ester, whatever, it is, just something vague. Speaker 1: So you will reach a point where she's, she will kind of perceive you. Speaker 1: And when she does, there's like a double take. Like, it's like, oh, God, who's coming type of thing? Speaker 1: Like where she's like, she'll look back. It's like, because you look around for wolves and Speaker 1: when you're in the mountains, you know, Speaker 1: I mean, the worst case is like, oh, no, a cyclops type of thing.
Speaker 1: But you usually got to climb higher for that kind of shit. Speaker 1: And she very much was looking for a place to camp. Speaker 1: You can kind of see the way she was like looking around. Speaker 1: And when she sees you, she's going to turn around and take a wide stance. Speaker 1: And she's got this dagger. Speaker 1: And she's kind of waiting to see what you do. Speaker 2: Oh, yeah. Speaker 2: Immediately, Ruby's hands will go up. Speaker 2: Not like, don't hurt, but more like, oh, no, no, no. Speaker 2: Hey, neighbor, how are you doing?
Speaker 1: Again, just kind of, you know, once you guys put your hands up, it's kind of a squint and to see. Speaker 1: She looks a little older. Speaker 1: She looks to be a human maybe in her mid to late 50s, something. Speaker 1: like that. So, you know, just, just it's eyeglasses time. It's, it's, you know, that type of thing. Speaker 1: But in weather like this, just sucks. Like you just put them away eventually because it's like Speaker 1: I'm tired of cleaning these. Oh, hi. I didn't expect to see anybody out here. You startled me. Speaker 2: Where are you headed?
You startled us a little bit too, I'll be honest. Speaker 2: And then she's going to look down at the lantern. Speaker 1: Oh, I'm so sorry. Speaker 1: I was just looking for a place to bed down for the night. Speaker 1: Kayla, and she's going to put the, like, she's going to reach out, Speaker 1: and she's going to go to like handshake and then realize it's like, I'm holding a knife, hold on, Speaker 1: and kind of stow that away in a leather pouch on on her side and offer her hand up. Speaker 2: Ruby will take a second and kind of rub her hand.
Speaker 2: on her, effectively, like her jeans, kind of clean her hand off, and then she'll reach her hand out to shake it. Speaker 2: And as she does, or as she's about to, she's kind of giving chimera a little bit of a side glance, like, like, what do you think? Speaker 4: Uh, hmm. Speaker 4: Can I do a insight check on, on her? Speaker 1: Just to see if it all kind of... Speaker 1: Any thing in particular? Speaker 1: Because she's only said a couple of things, you know, but... Speaker 3: You just do a vibe check. Speaker 1: Yeah, just a vibe check.
Speaker 1: Okay. Speaker 1: Well, she's made of skulls and I didn't say that at first. Speaker 6: Because she's made of skulls, that's impressive. Speaker 4: Made of skulls. Speaker 6: Yeah. Very noisy. Speaker 4: Uh, oh, sorry, you want me to throw that inside check? Speaker 4: Yes. Speaker 4: Okay, got you. Speaker 6: Sorry, I have like, I got the case. Speaker 4: The camera's on one tab and the map on the other. Speaker 6: So I'm in the same. Speaker 1: No, no, no. Speaker 1: You're totally fine. Speaker 1: How's that there too? Speaker 1: You're not getting any weird.
Speaker 1: Okay, I'll put it this way. Speaker 1: You're not getting any vibes from her that are any weirder than most of the people. Speaker 1: You'll meet on the road. Speaker 1: The type of people who will be on a horseback carriage, like going the other way. Speaker 1: It's like, you know, everyone's a little weird. Speaker 1: on the road because the solitude gets to you and the survival. Speaker 1: Like you guys are weird. Like you know. Speaker 1: But nothing threatening. Nothing overtly, you know, like, Speaker 1: I can't trust you type of things.
Nothing yet anyway. Speaker 4: Gotcha. Yeah. Who knows? Speaker 4: I say I'd give a little shrug to Ruby like. Speaker 2: All right. Speaker 2: So you're here. Speaker 2: Traveling through. Speaker 2: Where you're headed? Speaker 2: Where you're headed? Speaker 2: Where you're headed? Speaker 2: Where's your head? Speaker 2: Where's your head at? Speaker 1: Well, I actually live on the mountain a little ways back. Speaker 1: Every month I take a trip out and I'm looking for ingredients. Speaker 2: I'm an herbalist. Speaker 1: Oh. Speaker 1: Ruby's like all of a sudden shifted from being skeptical.
Speaker 2: She's like, oh, that's really? Speaker 2: really cool. Okay. What kind of Speaker 2: ingredient is you looking for? What kind of herbalist are you? Speaker 2: Do you have like a specialty or anything? She's just getting like chit-chatty. Speaker 2: She's gone from skeptical to like warm. Speaker 1: Oh, so she's going to, she'll take off her pack and kind of show you. Speaker 1: It's it's just it's all local stuff. But I use it to to brew potions for Speaker 1: Estherhold once every. Speaker 1: three, four months, I journey into the city and I make a killing off of frost-resistance Speaker 1: potions, basic healing stuff.
I don't mean to brag, but I make an excellent healing potion. Speaker 2: I was just about to ask you if you got any healing potions in there because I'll be honest with you, Speaker 2: we'd always be... The two of us would always be really interested in healing potions. Speaker 2: We're always getting cuts and scrapes. Speaker 2: She's looking at camera like, I'm drowning. Speaker 6: I'm drowning. Speaker 2: My story's not good. Speaker 4: But Esther holds the other way. Speaker 4: Are you not going there? Speaker 4: You're going somewhere else?
Speaker 4: Well, I don't have what I need yet. Speaker 1: I have to. Speaker 1: I have to spend a few days out here just, just gathering. Speaker 1: And then another week brewing. Speaker 1: But it pays the bills. Speaker 4: Gotcha. Speaker 4: Well, we're headed into Esterhold ourselves, just the two of us. Speaker 4: And is there anything that we should be on the lookout for? Speaker 4: Anything we should know? Speaker 1: She's gonna... Speaker 1: So, okay. Speaker 1: She's gonna kind of grit her teeth a little. Speaker 1: Yes? Speaker 1: Well, yes.
Speaker 7: Probably the witch. Speaker 7: Technically, she's a hag. Speaker 7: But. Speaker 7: Can you guys keep a secret? Speaker 2: Not even a secret. Speaker 7: Okay. Speaker 7: It's just the two of us out here. Speaker 2: Yeah. Speaker 2: There's no one else to give it any information to. Speaker 2: If we wanted to. Speaker 6: Right. Like who else could be talk to. Speaker 2: It could just be us. Speaker 2: Okay. Speaker 1: So when you get to Esther Holt. Speaker 1: there's a minority of people there that think I am the hag that kind of haunts this area Speaker 1: and harvests people and that's not at all what I do.
Speaker 1: She'll open her pack again. It's like there's no no people parts in here at all. Speaker 1: It's all plants, I swear. But because I live outside the city and I live in the mountains, Speaker 1: There are people who are a bit untrusting of that when I just got good at avoiding wolves and things. Speaker 1: And I can't help it if not everyone's good at that. Speaker 2: So you're not this witch. Speaker 2: Is there a witch? Speaker 2: Okay. Speaker 1: I haven't. Speaker 1: Well, I haven't seen any hacks. Speaker 1: What I have seen. Speaker 1: is Hague after math.
I guess I would call it. Speaker 2: Oh, like, hag mess? Like stuff the hag leaves behind? Speaker 2: Well, um, oh, you mean people. Speaker 7: Well, what? Speaker 1: Yes, you mean parts. Speaker 1: Yeah. Uh, yeah. People who have been harvested, but more than that, the skulls are always left Speaker 1: intact. Speaker 1: And that's probably because the hag invades their dreams. Speaker 7: And it's very... Speaker 7: Right. Mm-hmm. Speaker 7: Yeah. Yeah. It all makes sense. Speaker 4: How long has this been going on for Asterold? Speaker 1: Oh, probably.
Speaker 1: I moved here about nine years ago and they were already talking about it. Speaker 1: And I thought that was my... Speaker 1: I thought that was my ace, telling them that I just moved here and the Hacks been here. Speaker 1: that didn't convince anybody. Speaker 1: So. Speaker 1: An older woman living in the mountains Speaker 1: brewing potions is suspicious to some people. Speaker 1: That's all. Speaker 4: I understand. I understand. Speaker 4: But obviously, you're good at what you do Speaker 4: and you're good at surviving out here in spite of what people say.
Speaker 4: How do you keep yourself safe from this hack? Speaker 1: I never thought about it, I guess. Speaker 1: I just stick to myself. Speaker 1: I don't, I'm not out this like usually. Speaker 1: But I push things a little bit today. Speaker 1: And I thought if I could get enough of what I need tonight, Speaker 1: I could bed down and then head back for tomorrow. Speaker 1: But I kind of missed my deadline a little. Speaker 1: You don't happen to have steak. Speaker 1: Do you? Speaker 1: You look like meat eaters. Speaker 4: I'm afraid we just have rations.
Speaker 4: Yeah. Speaker 4: It's not really, I wish. Speaker 2: I could go for a steak. Speaker 4: Yeah. Speaker 2: Oh, gosh. Speaker 2: In fact, Esther hole is, first thing I'm going to get in Esterhold is a steak. Speaker 2: But no. Speaker 2: God, I hope. Speaker 4: Do they have a bonzo as an astrohole? Speaker 2: Is there a bonzo? Speaker 2: She's actually asked real sincerely. Speaker 2: Is there actually a bonzo's an esterh? Speaker 1: I don't know. Speaker 1: I try to get in and out of the city. Speaker 1: There's just too many people. Speaker 1: But I'm not much of a hunter, so it's mostly soups and stews for me.
Speaker 1: And I just haven't had a nice cut of meat in a long time. Speaker 2: So. Speaker 2: Yeah. Speaker 2: Yeah. Speaker 2: I figured I'd try. Speaker 2: I mean, I appreciate. Speaker 2: You ask, and I, if we had stakes, we just give them to you. Speaker 4: Well, we trade them to you. Speaker 2: Oh, I wasn't begging. Speaker 1: I could give you. Speaker 1: I could brew something for you in exchange. Speaker 1: But you don't have anything, so it's fine. Speaker 7: It's fine. Speaker 2: Afraid not. Speaker 2: We're kind of packing light, actually, and she'll kind of point and kind of do like a stare at Speaker 2: coming here, like, we're not actually carrying anything.
Speaker 2: We're traveling pretty light. Speaker 2: We're trying to get there. Speaker 2: as quick as we can. Speaker 2: So we're trying to make our way through. Speaker 4: We won't keep you, though, any longer if you need to make camp and get out there, you know. Speaker 4: Thank you for stopping on the road with us and chatting. Speaker 4: You're careful out there, especially with a hag and the wolves and everything, Speaker 4: but it seems like you're doing just fine. Speaker 2: Here, she's going to pull out one of her caramels and offer it.
Speaker 1: Oh, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, it's, it's another creature Speaker 1: comfort that it's like, oh, that's nice, thank you. Okay, just, just a little like Speaker 2: with me wherever I can. Just Speaker 2: comfort on the road, you know. Speaker 2: Hey, listen, Speaker 2: weather's not too bad. Speaker 2: We got a little few more weeks of summer left, but, Speaker 2: you know, you might want to get going and find yourself a little safe space to be Speaker 2: tonight. Speaker 2: Take care, though.
Speaker 2: You too. Speaker 2: You know what? Speaker 1: If you're going to Estherhold, Speaker 1: there's a guy I always see there, and we, Speaker 1: We've become friends. Speaker 1: He's one of the few people who hasn't accused me of being a hag, which is always nice. Speaker 1: But if you go to the first in you see, there's a guy named Lanny. Speaker 1: And if you tell them, I sent you, he'll give you a discount on some things. Speaker 1: I like discounts. Speaker 1: Very good, yeah. Speaker 1: It'd be very helpful. Speaker 2: Thank you so much, Kayla.
Speaker 2: And she's going to reach out sort of the two-hand shake, you know, like the really genuine shake. Speaker 2: Yeah. Speaker 2: And look, we may be an astrolope for a little bit of time. Speaker 2: Hopefully, you'll come into town. Speaker 2: We'll see you again. Speaker 1: Well, if you're there for long enough, yeah, I'm due in a couple of weeks. Speaker 2: I'll be honest with you. Speaker 2: You find some ingredients for some healing potions? Speaker 2: We'll buy them all from you. Speaker 1: That's kind of incentivizing. Speaker 1: It's like, oh, okay, that's great.
Speaker 1: I don't have to peddle these to anybody. Speaker 1: Like, there's... Speaker 1: Okay. Speaker 1: Okay. Speaker 1: The place is called silk sheets. Speaker 1: It's the nicest place by far. Speaker 4: I was going to say, if you won't even have to look for us, we might be there. Speaker 4: That's where we might be staying. Speaker 4: Perfect. Speaker 4: Okay. Speaker 1: Well, you good folks, take care. Speaker 1: I'll see you later. Speaker 1: Be safe. Speaker 1: Have a good night. Speaker 1: Yeah, she'll just keep trundling off the way she was going.
Speaker 2: So Ruby and Camaro would probably just stare watching her. Speaker 4: Yeah. Speaker 4: It's a bit further away. Speaker 3: And then Nithira will appear right behind you. Speaker 3: It looks like she just had snowdrop petals in our bag. Speaker 2: Say it again. Speaker 3: Looks like she just had snowdrop puddles in our bag and maybe some emberleaf. Speaker 2: She's the hag. Speaker 2: I know it. Speaker 2: She's absolutely the hag. Speaker 2: There's no way she's not the hag. Speaker 2: Wow. Speaker 2: Did you see how she asked for the stakes?
Speaker 2: She's got bloodlust. Speaker 4: A taste for meat. Speaker 2: I mean, she's probably finally the day. Speaker 2: She's like a wear hag or something. Speaker 2: She doesn't even know she's the hag. Speaker 2: We were going to die. Speaker 2: 30 minutes later, we'd all be dead. Speaker 2: It's a good thing we didn't invite her back to camp. Speaker 2: That's why I didn't. Speaker 2: Let's get back. Speaker 2: We got to get safe. Speaker 2: You never know what's out there. Speaker 2: Those candy is really come in handy every single time.
Speaker 3: We're going to have to stock up. Speaker 1: Poor woman. Speaker 1: This poor woman. Speaker 1: As she walks away. Speaker 1: Oh, that bitch did it. Speaker 6: There's not even an end. Speaker 6: It's just it. Speaker 2: Wait, I'm going to do an insight check, and I hope the low is. Speaker 2: The roll is very low. Speaker 2: And then Ruby is still just going to double down on it. Speaker 2: So she did her own little insight, little check. Speaker 2: And she's just like, yeah, definitely. Speaker 2: 100%. Speaker 3: I don't know, I didn't see anything in her past.
Speaker 4: And forever, she tells the story of how we just barely missed that. Speaker 6: Absolutely. Speaker 6: Absolutely. Speaker 6: Absolutely. Speaker 4: That poor woman. Speaker 4: That poor woman. Speaker 3: She wasn't very adept with her dagger. Speaker 3: I could have taken her out four different ways. Speaker 3: She didn't even notice. Speaker 2: Yeah, before she transforms. Speaker 2: And they... Speaker 3: You're right, Ruby. You're right. Speaker 4: They get inside your dreams in your head. Speaker 4: There's no stabbing your way out of that one night here.
Speaker 4: I'm not sleeping tonight. Speaker 3: Good thing I don't sleep. Speaker 2: All right, they would make their way back to camp in a circuitous way, I imagine, just to make sure. Speaker 2: Or Ruby would insist. Speaker 2: We barely made it out alive, Logrin. Speaker 2: Thanks for your help. Speaker 2: Wait, what? Speaker 4: We did come away with a good suggestion of an inn we can stay at and possibly a discount. Speaker 2: Oh, that's true. Speaker 2: Oh, there's a bonzo in Esther Holt, too, by the way. Speaker 5: You see Logginvisibly deflate.
Speaker 5: They do stakes, though. Speaker 5: Oh, man, I could do steak. Speaker 5: All right, well, maybe. Speaker 5: We'll see. Speaker 5: Does I mean if you like on tonight, we could probably use some venison or something? Speaker 5: Kids are fine, by the way. Speaker 5: Like my best. Speaker 5: I need another. Speaker 1: I need another travel die because you guys are going to coast into the next day. Speaker 1: Everything's fine. Speaker 1: The weather's even going to let up just a little bit. Speaker 3: Did we have any nightmares? Speaker 1: Yeah.
Speaker 1: No nightmares. Speaker 1: No. Speaker 1: No. Speaker 1: Roll for nightmares. Speaker 1: Nipar. Speaker 1: I love, by the way, that after she leaves, it's like, yeah, she's a hag. Speaker 1: I know it. Speaker 1: But she gave us a nice place to stay. Speaker 6: That's totally. Speaker 2: Very hag, very hag coded. Speaker 2: Right. Speaker 2: Kayla is very nice. Speaker 6: The hatched. Speaker 6: Yeah. Speaker 2: Yeah. Speaker 1: Yeah. Got it. Speaker 1: Okay. Speaker 1: Okay. Speaker 5: She'd recommend an inn so she knows whose dreams to hunt.
Speaker 3: Right. Speaker 3: She knows where to find us. Speaker 5: Yeah. Speaker 1: But it is a discount. Speaker 3: So we're definitely going to stay there. Speaker 3: Yeah. Speaker 1: I didn't say we're not stopping. Speaker 1: I just said. Speaker 4: Ian. Speaker 4: Yes. Speaker 4: Give me a D100. Speaker 4: Okay. I did the last one. Do you want me to do it again? Speaker 4: I'm happy to. Speaker 4: You did such a good job. Speaker 4: Okay. I will. Speaker 4: You don't. I mean, you don't have to. Speaker 1: I just thought you're on a lot. Speaker 1: Let's 57.
Speaker 4: It's 57, baby. Speaker 4: Mm-hmm. Speaker 1: Let's see. Speaker 9: This time it's really the hack. Speaker 9: I was going to say, Speaker 9: I'm just an herbalist. Speaker 2: It opens the bag. I've just Speaker 2: body parts. Speaker 1: It's just body parts, yeah. Speaker 1: Hags are. Speaker 1: all the way down. Speaker 1: Yeah. Speaker 1: Oh, man. Speaker 1: Okay. Speaker 3: 47 was an old lady. Speaker 1: 57 was a hag. Speaker 5: I was going to hit the evil female monster hat trick. Speaker 3: I could go for parties to medusa. Speaker 3: Right.
Speaker 3: What do you have against women? Speaker 1: Literally just met a nice lady a second ago. Speaker 3: We just met a wear hag, Jason. Speaker 1: Nice hag, I think you mean. Speaker 1: Yeah. Speaker 6: I'm not just for a hat. Speaker 6: I would say. Speaker 1: I don't know how to like. Speaker 1: I don't know how to disprove a negative. Speaker 3: It's actually a logical fallacy in law is how to disprove a negative. Speaker 3: It's actually a logical fallacy in Speaker 3: of innocence. He can't prove the negative. Speaker 1: Yeah. It is now the first of Doolan.
Speaker 1: You guys, there's a lovely path coming out of the mountains leading into Estherholt, where there is still a Speaker 1: flowing river. The borders of it are still pretty icy, but it's a lovely little break, Speaker 1: refilling canteens and all that stuff, where normally you've got to melt snow or ice, Speaker 1: and it's just a pain, you know what I mean? Speaker 1: But this is just like, wow, this is cold, crisp mountain water. Speaker 1: This is great. Speaker 1: And you are going to all be traveling this way. Speaker 1: And at this point, you can, you can see the outskirts of the city Speaker 1: in that there are paths, like actual paths.
Speaker 1: You don't need to be walking. Speaker 1: waste deep in snow. But you're still about 15 miles out from the city. But you're able to look down and see, Speaker 1: okay, we just keep going down. Coming out of the mountains and hills, we're almost there. Speaker 1: Can I get all of you to give me a dexterity saving throw, please? Speaker 1: Who? Speaker 5: That's my special team. Speaker 5: That's the same here. Speaker 3: Oh shit, yeah. Speaker 3: 18. Speaker 3: 8. Speaker 2: 10. Speaker 4: Mm-hmm. Speaker 2: Mm-hmm. Speaker 2: 17. Speaker 3: All right.
Speaker 4: So Lagrin and I together make Neathear as prol. Speaker 4: I hope this isn't falling to a hole again. Speaker 2: Oh, it's just holes. Speaker 5: That's what it is. Speaker 5: It's just a recurring bit now. Speaker 2: The travel music screeches to a halt every time records crash. Speaker 4: It should be on the travel. Speaker 2: It should be on the travel table as its own thing. Speaker 6: It's just seeing. Speaker 2: Can we add Robert and falls in hole on the travel? Speaker 5: table. Speaker 5: Specifically, Logran. Speaker 5: Everybody else gets thrown number.
Speaker 3: Or just but the questionable title of Logren's hole on there. Speaker 5: But here's the thing. Speaker 5: It has to mean something different every time we were. Speaker 6: Yes. Speaker 6: So as you guys are. Speaker 1: So as you guys are traveling, Speaker 1: you're going to feel this, this tremor. Speaker 1: This, this. Speaker 1: It's the shaking. Speaker 1: And it starts out as a strong jostle and then gets calmer. Speaker 1: And the first thing you probably do is look back. Speaker 1: It's like, okay, is that like an avalanche is something about to happen.
Speaker 1: Everyone's shaking their head as a nodding in the call. Speaker 1: And underneath Logrin's feet, the ground, the ground is going to break apart. Speaker 1: And a creature is going to shoot up into the sky, like almost like a land shark burst from the ground and leap outward. Speaker 1: Can I get a con saving throw from Loggren, please? Speaker 5: Holy hell. That's a three. That's a three. Speaker 6: Whoa. Speaker 5: Rolled from an 18 to a three. Speaker 5: Two to. Speaker 5: So this is going to do 2D6 damage. Speaker 1: Okay. Speaker 1: Okay.
Speaker 1: No? Speaker 1: No. Speaker 1: Okay. Speaker 1: Okay. Speaker 1: No. Speaker 5: I will not wait. Speaker 1: So that's going to be 10 damage to Lachran. Speaker 1: And the thing that just burst out of the ground is called a boule. Speaker 1: Oh. Speaker 1: Uh. Speaker 1: Anybody who's played a... Speaker 1: Anybody who's played a... Speaker 1: Anybody who's played Balders Gate 3, there's a specific fight in the underdark with this fucker. Speaker 1: It is a huge pain in the ass and I hate it. Speaker 3: That one narrow path you have to take to advance a story.
Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Speaker 1: It is, I just want to let you know every bit as big a prick in the paper game as it is the video. Speaker 1: So it is going to burst out. Speaker 1: And we're going to fight. Speaker 1: So let me get a map for you guys. Speaker 4: Nice. Jasper is looking for as many. Speaker 1: I have three. Speaker 4: The bouleys, yeah. Speaker 2: It technically, and I'm sorry, I'm a big fan of this particular monster. Speaker 2: Why are you sorry? Speaker 2: Because I'm going to correct you. Speaker 2: It's pronounced.
Speaker 2: I'm sorry in advance. Speaker 2: It's pronounced. Speaker 2: It looks. Speaker 2: Looks like Boulay. Speaker 2: It's blet. Speaker 2: Hey, everybody. Speaker 2: Jasper here. Speaker 2: Boy, was I wrong. Speaker 2: Like, deeply, historically, text book wrong. Speaker 2: Let me explain. Speaker 2: During this session recording, Speaker 2: I very confidently corrected Jason on how to pronounce a monster Speaker 2: I've loved since I was nine. Speaker 2: The B-L-E-T-E. Speaker 2: That's spelled B-U-L-E-T-E. Speaker 2: It looks like B-L-E-T-E, but it's pronounced B-L-A.
Speaker 2: Yeah, I know. Speaker 2: Go look it up. It's a whole thing. It's actually some pretty good D&D lore. Anyway, somewhere between childhood obsession and my French wife scrambled brain, I locked under the wrong pronunciation so hard that I looped all the way back around and thought I was right again. I even started delivering my explanation like I was on some sort of monster themed TED talk, waving my hands around like it meant something. So yeah, I was being a know at all. Sorry, Jason. Sorry everybody else. Sorry, listen. Speaker 2: Listeners.
Sorry, large land shark with legs. Speaker 2: And hey, if you're enjoying this mix of D&D and public humiliation, Speaker 2: consider supporting us at patreon.com slash da-n-dr. Speaker 2: If enough of you join or upgrade your tier, I'm telling you, Speaker 2: I'll launch a mini bonus podcast where I go page by page through the AD&D original Speaker 2: monster manual, and I mispronounce every single monster just to rub my nose in it. Speaker 2: Yep, all of them. Speaker 2: It's a slow descent into pronunciation madness. Speaker 2: And I'm driving.
Speaker 2: Pop on. Speaker 6: This is a bluet? Speaker 2: Yes, it was from Gary Gygax. Speaker 2: In particular, this is how it's pronounced. Speaker 2: This is it. Speaker 2: It was probably because he was trying to make something fancy Speaker 2: and just pronounced it the wrong way. Speaker 2: Whatever it is, it's blet. Speaker 2: I'm a big fan. Speaker 2: I've got like, I don't know where my minis. Speaker 2: I think probably loose stolen. Speaker 2: I need more bullets. Speaker 5: This was your time. Speaker 3: I'm gonna go grab a prescription real fast.
Speaker 5: Prescription for battle. Speaker 3: Yes. Speaker 3: No, I just forgot. Speaker 3: Like it tell me. Speaker 5: My prescription for bloodlust. Speaker 5: I'm gonna actually grab water while we're set. Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, do that, do that. Speaker 5: You're good. Speaker 5: You're good. Speaker 4: There, there they are. Speaker 1: Yeah. Speaker 1: Yeah. Speaker 1: Yeah. Speaker 1: Yeah. Speaker 1: Yeah. Speaker 1: I looked it up, right? Speaker 1: Before I said the name because I wasn't. Speaker 6: I'm not trying to correct you.
Speaker 1: No, no, no. Speaker 1: There is a discourse online about it. Speaker 1: And I picked the one I thought I had the bet, but it's like 50-50. Speaker 1: And I knew as I was picking it's like, I'm going to pick the wrong one. Speaker 6: Like it doesn't matter. Speaker 1: But yeah, it's it's okay. Speaker 1: It's not obviously. Speaker 2: You're wrong. It's more like, yeah, there's there was always a big discussion about it. Speaker 2: And then it was just where you're not. Speaker 2: he landed and so that's just kind of I take it as can. Speaker 2: If that's the biggest thing I'm wrong about today, I'm doing great.
Speaker 2: So it's a wrong here is I mean it's a made-up mythical monster for the stupid game. Speaker 1: So wrong is not even really a word here. Speaker 1: I respect I respect Canon like that's you know if someone got something I made up wrong Speaker 2: I would hope that you know it only matters because I have any time I've ever Speaker 2: DM'd I always end up using this. Speaker 1: thing. Yeah. It's cool. It's also a huge prick. Make sure you all have a long rest and you rested in a haven. Speaker 2: Oh, nice. Okay. Is Chet still carrying that flame throwing weapon?
Just curious. Speaker 2: Somebody got it, right? I don't know where it came or it went. I'm pretty sure still check. Speaker 4: Yes. Who's holding the arrow of slaying, but? Speaker 4: by the way. I put it on my thing just to not forget it. Okay. So we can save Speaker 1: Kamira. You're responsible. Oh, great. Okay. Everybody do me a favor. Oh, boy. Speaker 3: There's not a peaceful resolution for this. I'm gonna say no. Speaker 2: Will it recognize Nythera? Speaker 2: as a legendary assassin and it's no owl. Speaker 1: Well, shit, Fetty's up first. Okay, here we go.
Speaker 1: Can't do anything cool like sneak attack, so I guess we're just going to use a short bow. Speaker 1: So she's going to fire at this thing. And it's a good shot. It's 16, right? Speaker 1: And it's going to hit this carapace and bounce off of it. Speaker 1: This thing's low to the ground. Speaker 1: It's kind of slick aerodynamic. Speaker 1: It's mostly mouth. Speaker 1: Its entire head is like mouth. Speaker 1: And it is squared up with you guys. Speaker 1: And it's like a big dog, basically. Speaker 1: Like it's doing that. Speaker 1: Like, yeah.
Speaker 1: There you go. Like that. There it is. Speaker 1: Big old mouth. Speaker 1: Ruby, your turn. Speaker 1: Uh-huh. Speaker 2: I'm trying to think here. Speaker 2: I don't want Ruby to get too close to this thing, Speaker 2: but that's kind of what she does. Speaker 2: She's going to not next to it, but close to it. Speaker 2: She's going to kind of run. Speaker 2: Shoot, let me think here. Speaker 2: She's going to go behind it, but close to it. Speaker 2: not directly next to it. Speaker 2: She could go 40 feet for her movement. Speaker 2: And as she does, she's going to shoot her wrist ballista at this thing, Speaker 2: just to see if she can even make a dent.
Speaker 2: Yeah, coming up on the broad side of this thing, you can see how weighty and how Speaker 1: how substantial it is. It's low to the ground, but it's built like a Jeep grand Cherokee, Speaker 6: basically. Speaker 6: It's massive. It's massive. It's. Speaker 1: heavy. It's and you're gonna see its, it's, it's eye on the side of its head. Just like, Speaker 1: watch you as you, you run around it. She's just sprinting. And as she sprint, she's gonna Speaker 2: fire off. She's gonna fire this thing off twice and we'll see what happens with it.
Speaker 2: Hopefully it hits. We shall see. Speaker 1: Oh, 16 again. It's just gonna miss. Speaker 1: So running up on the side of it, bam, you fire. It's just going to bounce off the exact same way that is arrow did. Speaker 2: Damn it. That's it. That's all she's going to do. Speaker 2: You said you're going to do it twice? Speaker 2: Sorry. She has what's called double shot. If she hits, it hits twice. Speaker 2: So basically, she, you know, and nothing happens. So it's all good. Speaker 2: It's almost going to disregard you as a threat when you, when you, Speaker 1: When you shoot it and it doesn't, it just kind of like then square up and look at the Speaker 2: the wider party.
And to be clear, the movement that Ruby's doing is in order to sort of scatter Speaker 2: a little bit so that it's not very clear where it might be headed or maybe it'll follow her Speaker 2: instead of all these kids or whatever. She's trying to spread it a little bit. Speaker 1: It's a charging bull and can burrow through the ground. So it's it's dangerous. Speaker 1: Nitha, you're up. Speaker 3: Okay. Speaker 3: Nithera is going to like kick her boots against the ground and be like, Speaker 3: Ruby, is this how it's out? Oh, and then she's going to like jolt forward.
Speaker 3: As they activate and she's going to use charge, a maneuver charge. Speaker 3: So it is a maneuver that moves her 30 feet and then she can make a melee weapon attack. Speaker 3: And that's an action. Speaker 3: So, um, too, too. Speaker 3: So she's going to make a melee weapon attack with her. Speaker 3: Assassin's bleed. Speaker 3: Oh. Speaker 1: It's going to be an 11. That misses, sadly. Speaker 3: Not used to the boots yet. Not used to the boots. Speaker 3: Oh, actually, I'm going to use fortunate. Speaker 3: I get a re-roll. Speaker 3: Um, fate seems to smile on me when I need it most.
I have three fate points. Whenever I make an attack roll, I could choose to re-roll and use whichever role I want. Speaker 3: Okay. Shit. So let's just see. I mean, I may still miss, but. Speaker 3: Why now? Speaker 3: Six-16. Speaker 1: See me. God damn. Okay. Well, so far. Speaker 1: We're all hitting these teams spot. Speaker 1: Yeah. So far, all, uh, it, it, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it Speaker 1: Just bam, you're just trying to find like these big, these big bony plates. Speaker 1: You know that there's like a weak spot, a weak spot somewhere in here.
Speaker 1: It's like, okay, nope, nope, that's still bony. Speaker 1: That's still bony. Speaker 3: And seeing how big this creature is and how little armor, Speaker 3: Naira has, she's going to use her bone section to disengage and get behind her big this creature is. Speaker 3: Big, beefy friend. Speaker 3: Because a 30 feet of movement for charge was the maneuver. Speaker 3: It's not, it wasn't my movement. Speaker 1: Got it. Speaker 3: And that's the end of ninth year's turn. Speaker 3: Run up there. Speaker 3: Try to hit. Miss. Speaker 3: Logger and protect me.
Speaker 5: She was welcome back. Speaker 5: How to go. Speaker 3: That thing's hard to hit. Speaker 1: Well, it is the Bullets turn. Speaker 1: Oh, boy. Speaker 1: Oh, man, there's nothing good about this. Speaker 1: All right, it is going to charge forward Speaker 1: and wedge itself right in between ORA and Logren. Speaker 1: I want you in order to roll at D20. Speaker 1: whoever rolls lowest is getting attacked. Speaker 2: No me goosta. Speaker 1: Well, she rolled a 15. So. Speaker 1: That's an 11. Speaker 1: That's probably a lot. And she's got to roll her glimpse of the future.
Speaker 3: Sorry, oh, one. Speaker 4: That can be helpful. Yeah, that can be real helpful. Speaker 5: And while it runs to, like, the Logren's calling out to the kids, like, spread away from it, get away. Speaker 3: And Nythera probably ran towards Logren because he's wearing stone armor. He has a giant shield. Speaker 3: If anybody could take a hit, it's probably home. Like, so she probably like tried to get its attention on Logren. Speaker 1: Right. Speaker 1: Thanks for that. Speaker 1: Yeah. Speaker 3: You were the kids. Speaker 1: I know, I know, I know.
Speaker 1: It's fine. Speaker 1: It's been like five seconds, right, of this thing bursting out of the gut. Speaker 1: So everyone's like, holy shit, what is that? Speaker 1: And then spread out run is just, that's just good advice. Speaker 1: This thing is going to try and bite logger and... Speaker 1: Oh. Speaker 1: What? Speaker 1: What? Speaker 1: 20. Speaker 1: That misses. Speaker 4: Oh, my God. Speaker 1: Yeah, it missed. Speaker 1: Just things all mouth. Speaker 1: It's just teeth. Speaker 5: It's, yeah. Speaker 5: It bites down on his shield and large is like, oh, wow.
Speaker 5: It's just like chewing on his helmet. Speaker 5: It's like there's no joke. Speaker 5: Like a jawbreaker? Speaker 5: It's just like a dog with a toilet using it. Speaker 5: side teeth like ah Speaker 2: it feels good whenever they're doing that it makes them Speaker 2: it feels good whenever they're doing that it makes him feel really good Speaker 5: yeah this is just a baby he's teeth is what it is Speaker 4: oh wow I think that's the best Speaker 4: best reaction I'm Speaker 4: on the show's at bar Speaker 5: I agree I agree Speaker 5: whether he's impressed with the monster or just impressed with the armor Speaker 6: I should be dead.
Speaker 5: I should be dead. Speaker 1: God. Speaker 1: Okay. So. Speaker 1: Orra does not want to be next to this thing. Speaker 1: She's going to move over to Logrin. Speaker 1: And she is going to go to. Speaker 1: Yeah. Speaker 1: Shit. Speaker 1: She's going to use a trick to try and swing her saber and in... Speaker 1: It's not going to do a lot of damage if it hits, but it will allow her to back up and disengage at the same time. Speaker 1: So that's the... that's the aim. Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, that's... Speaker 1: Poof! Terrible. But that's not why she did it.
Speaker 1: It's just to get back. Speaker 1: So. Speaker 1: Ah, shit. Speaker 1: Okay. Speaker 1: Look. Speaker 3: We know what he's going to do. Speaker 1: He's actually going to hesitate for a minute Speaker 1: because it's got, like, Speaker 1: what's the yips for someone Speaker 1: who hasn't been good yet? Speaker 1: So because like, he's lost confidence. Speaker 1: in himself, but like, it's just because like every fight, he gets his ass be in a new way. Speaker 1: It's like, well, here's just, let me just inject this poison into you.
Speaker 1: Every fight. So he's going to sidle up behind this thing and just, just going to try, you know? Speaker 1: But that means you're flanking now. Speaker 1: So, D4. Speaker 1: Oh, shit. Speaker 1: 14 rolled over to a 6. Speaker 1: 15 is not going to quite do it. Speaker 1: So again, just clang on the ass of this thing. Speaker 1: It's ass is armored, too. Speaker 1: Like, the whole thing appears to be armored. Speaker 1: Damn it. Speaker 1: Is your episode 12. Speaker 1: You are up. Speaker 4: Oh, shit, it's me. Speaker 4: Um, does any of us have, does Nithera have a bow?
Do we know if any of us have a bow? Speaker 3: I have a bow. Okay. Would you like my bow? Speaker 4: Most people usually have some kind of ranged weapon. Speaker 3: I could have given you my bow after you took up that. Speaker 4: No, no, no, no, no, no, no. I need to give the arrow to you is what needs to happen. Speaker 6: Oh. Speaker 4: Um, so, well, first things first, Speaker 4: Kimer is going to flip out his hand in a little dark flame. Speaker 4: kind of burns off of it and he's going to speak some words of infernal. Speaker 4: Those boom out across this landscape and even like a little like sigil of infernal Speaker 4: burns into the shell of this creature.
Speaker 4: Just kind of like singeing there to curse it. Speaker 3: Snowdrops melt when it hits it. Speaker 4: Yeah. Speaker 4: Yeah. Speaker 4: Shit, that definitely can't hurt. Speaker 4: Let's see. Speaker 4: I think I need to apply effect. Speaker 4: Oh, no, token? Speaker 4: No, do you need to apply effect? Speaker 4: I got you, baby. Speaker 4: Thank you. Speaker 4: I got you, baby. Speaker 4: You got me every time. Speaker 1: And I have... Speaker 4: Yeah, and then, so that's my bonus action. Speaker 4: I'm gonna move down here. Speaker 4: Uh, Nithera.
Speaker 4: I think you can do a lot better with... Speaker 4: with this, then I can. Speaker 4: And I'm gonna hand you the arrow of slaying. Speaker 3: I'll try and she'll take it and then start taking out her. Speaker 1: It is a monstrosity. Speaker 1: If you're, if you're wondering. Speaker 1: And, oh, sorry, go ahead. Speaker 3: I know, we'll see if I could hit this time. Speaker 4: And is that, is that my action, Jason? Speaker 4: giving her that arrow. Speaker 1: I'll count that as a bonus action. Speaker 1: You're not activating anything.
Speaker 4: It's like, I did already use my bonus action. Speaker 4: So if I've got to use a, if I got to use an action to have another bonus action to hand Speaker 4: that arrow off, that's, that's fine. Speaker 4: My curse is my bonus action. Speaker 1: Okay. Speaker 1: But only because you cheated in the last episode. Speaker 6: So like I just, you know, I think it's fine. Speaker 4: I'm joking. Speaker 4: Yeah, that'll be a... Speaker 4: That'll be right for now. Speaker 1: Logrin, you're up. Speaker 1: You're being chomped on, but not... Speaker 1: Yeah.
Speaker 5: It sure is. Speaker 5: Yeah, so first thing he's going to do is plant his tower shield. Speaker 5: That's a free action. Speaker 5: The next thing he's going to do as a bonus action is Speaker 5: activate. Well, I'm going to hold off. First, I'm going to hit it with the Warhammer. Speaker 5: I'll do the bombs action after we're depending on how this goes. Speaker 5: So I get the D4 because Chet is flanking, right? Speaker 5: Yes. Speaker 5: Okay. Speaker 5: And here we go. Speaker 5: That's a 20. Speaker 5: That's a 20. That's our first hit.
Speaker 5: There we go. Speaker 5: So he hits it in the mouth with the hammer. Speaker 1: Uh, and. Speaker 1: Yeah, just like eight bludgeting damage. Speaker 1: Just it's all tooth. Speaker 1: Right. Every time you hit it's a, yeah. Speaker 5: Yeah. So he almost says hit it in the mouth, but then he doesn't want to give these kids ideas because friggin' chat will climb in. Speaker 5: Uh, so, uh, he does automatically give inspiring leader once for round. Speaker 5: When you make a successful melee attack roll, you can choose a number of creatures to equal to Speaker 5: your charisma modifier within your commanding presence.
Speaker 5: Jo's and creatures gain an expertise die on their first attack until the start of your next turn. Speaker 5: That is going to night there. Speaker 5: Because half my charisma bonus is just one. Speaker 5: So it's going to go to the night there. Speaker 5: You've got a D4 extra expertise on your next attack. Speaker 5: And the other thing I'm going to do is Mark Fo. Speaker 5: I'm going to use my bonus action to everything that I can see and hear me is going to get an Speaker 5: I have a little next turn. Speaker 5: Okay. Speaker 6: And anything else.
Speaker 5: That's all I got. Speaker 5: I think I have to. Speaker 5: Let me see if I have to use Mark phone. Speaker 1: Oh, God. All right. Speaker 1: Pass is gonna run down here, square up right next to chat and try to swing this hammer. Speaker 1: That is a D6 now. Speaker 1: Expertise die. Speaker 1: 28. 9 bludgeoning damage against this thing. Speaker 1: And that's going to be like a size of a lump. You're going to see one of these, Speaker 1: one of these bony plates kind of like bend outward a little bit as as he swings against it. Speaker 1: That is the end of round one.
Speaker 5: Yeah, get mad at it. Speaker 5: But they kicked a puppy. Speaker 4: Berser looks good on you, Baz. Speaker 1: Nice. Theory, you're up. Speaker 3: Yes. Okay. Taking out her arrow and notching this arrow of slaying in it. Speaker 3: And dipping it in black blade as well. Speaker 3: On ninth year is just going to take a step over here and try to hit it. Speaker 5: You get a D6? Speaker 3: I get a D10. Speaker 5: Should be a lot more than that, yeah. Speaker 3: Yeah. Speaker 5: She gets two D, two expertise dies just for me. Speaker 1: Oh, sorry.
Yes, you get a D10. Speaker 1: Yeah. Speaker 1: Shit, yeah, if you don't hit it, man. Speaker 1: Right. Speaker 3: Right. Speaker 3: Wait, one second. Speaker 3: Black blade is 3D6, 2D6? Speaker 1: 3D6, I think, yes. Speaker 3: I'll just do it afterwards if I hit. Speaker 1: So you've knocked this arrow of slaying. Speaker 1: You put black blade poison on it and you're just... Speaker 1: What is Nythera thinking at this point, Speaker 1: considering 90% of all of... Speaker 1: attacks have just sort of bounced off this thing. You have one of these arrows.
Speaker 3: So as Baz hits it and cracks up that one plate and now there's an obvious exposed point and it's Speaker 3: like whipping around and it's like whipping back to Logrin because the Logrin seems to be the biggest threat. Speaker 3: I can't chew through it. The creature is probably thinking. Speaker 3: Nighteara is going to try to aim for that spot. Speaker 3: She takes a deep breath in, lets it out, and... Speaker 3: No, 20! Speaker 6: Oh! Speaker 6: Amazing. Speaker 5: Holy shit. Speaker 5: For a 33. Speaker 5: Right. Speaker 5: Let's go!
Speaker 1: Oh, my God. Speaker 5: All right. Speaker 5: Well... Speaker 5: Wait. Speaker 5: See, the next time I make a character, I'm just going to see, Speaker 5: say up front that he's a legend and just let the guy. Speaker 3: Right. Right. Right. Speaker 5: Oh, yeah. My character's a retired legend, she says, at level one. Speaker 5: And then she calls shit like that. Speaker 1: You rolled minimum on your base damage just for an arrow, right? That's before we factor in that it's an arrow of sling. Speaker 1: Your D6, I'm sorry, your sneak attack, you rolled a sneak attack.
You rolled all. Speaker 1: most maximum and we double that. So you, that's 28 piercing damage before we count the poison and Speaker 3: before the arrow of slain. So the arrow of slang is and the crit table. And the crit table. Speaker 1: Oh, have dancing. Let's see. Okay, give me D6. Let's see if we're going on the crit table. Speaker 9: Oh my God. That's the one I wanted it for. Oh, that's insane. Speaker 1: Yes, we're rolling on the crit table. Give it to me. Speaker 3: Yes. Speaker 3: How about an 80? Speaker 3: What? Oh. Oh, it's a D20? Speaker 1: Yes, it's a D20.
Speaker 3: Sorry. Speaker 3: No, I want to go to an 80 on a D20. Speaker 3: I'll see that. Speaker 3: Right? Speaker 1: How about an 80? Speaker 1: Well, you're cheating. Speaker 3: Well, I still kept the eight. Speaker 1: God. Speaker 1: Gaping. Speaker 1: In addition to standard critical hit damage, the target takes ongoing five plus half your level damage Speaker 1: rounded up. This effect ends when the target is healed. Speaker 1: Wow. Okay. Wow. It needs to roll a 17 to avoid full damage on a con-saving throw. I know. I know, I know, Speaker 3: I know.
Yeah, can we? Can we? Can we? Can we? Can I? Speaker 1: I... Speaker 1: Not like I wouldn't you. Speaker 1: So like seeing that like the the doctor strange thing of like here's a bunch of things that could happen. Speaker 1: It's like, yes, please, just exchanging fate. Speaker 1: Whatever this thing's going to roll. Let's see though. Let's see. Speaker 1: Let's see. Constitution saving throw. It is going to roll 15 and she's just going to Speaker 1: replace it with a one no matter what. Just yeah, no, fuck you. Speaker 1: That's 6.10 damage. Speaker 1: Double.
Whatever you roll, that number gets doubled. So give me 6010, please. Wow. Speaker 1: Fucking yousa. Whoa. Speaker 1: Thanks for the air. No time. No time. Speaker 1: Like, 33 damage. So 66 damage. Now give me 3D6 for the Black Blade Poison, please, which we double. Speaker 1: Ooh. Jesus. Okay. All right. Speaker 1: I went to American public schools and in New Jersey. Speaker 1: Someone who? Speaker 1: Okay, someone hit me up and said New Jersey is ranked number one in schools and that doesn't seem right either. Speaker 6: I mean, the bar is really low right now.
Speaker 6: I mean, I guess, yeah. Speaker 6: Yeah. Speaker 1: Jesus God. Speaker 1: Okay. Speaker 1: 14 from the Black Blade Poison Times 2. Speaker 1: is 28 plus 66 from the arrow of slaying. Speaker 1: Plus 28 is a hundred and 22 damage. Speaker 4: Yeah. Speaker 1: How is this even? Speaker 1: Outright kills the bullet. Speaker 4: What is even happening? Speaker 1: Oh, okay. Speaker 3: Now, for everybody out there, there's a fat, Speaker 1: fucking green bar underneath this bullet, a little, a boss bar. Speaker 1: You're gonna. Tell me how this happens, because it's, it, you just one shot murdered this thing.
Speaker 3: So Nythera takes the, the arrow of slang, which is like this really intricately like, Speaker 3: like metallic, but with stone engraving like a arrow. And she's going to knock it back. See Baz hit that plate. Speaker 3: See the bait, the plate on its tail. Like, Speaker 3: bend up and she's going to aim for it, see it thrashing around. And as it goes to bite logger Speaker 3: and again, she's going to hit it. And then it's going to go through that plate, hit it perfectly. Speaker 3: So the plate actually finished spinning off. And that's probably what people notice.
But then Speaker 3: they don't see the arrow go out through its gut underneath, like into the ground. And Speaker 3: this gut just start spilling out underneath it. Speaker 3: as it like just is eviscerated from the inside. Speaker 1: So I've had the damage logs on since the beginning of this campaign. Speaker 3: Ooh. Speaker 3: What am I at? Speaker 3: You're ahead. Speaker 1: You're ahead. Speaker 1: If that helps. Speaker 1: It's you and then. Speaker 1: In a distant, distant, distant, distant, distant, distant, distant, distant. Speaker 1: It's chimera.
Speaker 1: Oh, that's Ruby. Speaker 3: Right. Speaker 1: Distant. Speaker 1: Like, I'll give you guys stats later, but like, Speaker 1: if we were to stop the campaign now, like, you win. Speaker 1: Like, you won D&D, congrats. Speaker 6: You want to be. Speaker 4: Yeah. Speaker 5: She looses the arrow and then just cut out to a regional shot and you just see a mushroom crowd go up. Speaker 5: Yeah. Speaker 5: That's tough. Speaker 5: Like I think people in Asterole are like, did you feel that? Speaker 5: Yeah. Speaker 3: I think there's a moment where no one knows what happens because what happens is she let's loose through that.
Speaker 3: And you just see the hole where it went through. Speaker 3: And then it like falls to its side. Speaker 3: And then you just see like its entire stomach. Speaker 3: It's like gripped open. Speaker 1: Yeah. Speaker 1: Obviously like the fresh powdered snow and stuff just, it's just red. Speaker 1: But like it's got to take it. Speaker 1: Like I would imagine the bullet has to catch up to the fact that it's dead. Speaker 1: But like it's, everyone's squaring up. Speaker 1: We're six seconds into this fight. Speaker 1: We're in round two.
Speaker 1: And all of a sudden, it just falls over. Speaker 1: So it's like an SUV overturned. Speaker 1: Right. Speaker 1: Right. Speaker 3: And suddenly all of its insides are just like pure. Speaker 5: Outside. Yeah. Speaker 5: I have an important question. I hate to be. Speaker 5: Please. Speaker 5: Chargmatic one. Can we use that arrow again? Speaker 1: Like we take it out. Speaker 1: It is done. It's lost. It lost its, it's enchantment. Speaker 1: However, you can keep it as a trophy. Speaker 1: And what a fuck a trophy, right? Speaker 1: Like, it was pretty arrow.
Speaker 2: Yeah. Speaker 2: It was. Speaker 2: I mean, it's the arrow that killed that the blot that's been, you know, Speaker 2: hounding Estherhold for decades at this point or years or something. Speaker 2: Maybe days or hours. Speaker 1: That was the hag. Speaker 1: That was the hag. Speaker 2: It's the hag's pet. Speaker 2: Oh. Speaker 1: I imagine there's kind of stunned disbelief for a few, like a good, almost, like, Speaker 1: 30 seconds. Everyone's squared up. And it's just dead. It's just done. Speaker 3: Yeah. Even Nythera. It's like, um.
Speaker 2: And Ruby's way over here. Way, way, way far away. So she just kind of just strolls back up Speaker 2: over to Nithera and just puts her hand on her shoulder. Just stares against man. Speaker 2: You make quick work of that. Speaker 10: It must have been young. Speaker 10: We're weakened already. Speaker 2: I don't think it had anything to do with this. Speaker 2: She's just going to wink. Speaker 5: He's picking. Speaker 5: Loggerne's picking teeth out of his armor. Speaker 5: I don't think it was weakened. Speaker 1: Everyone else who's missed.
Speaker 5: Elfer strong. Speaker 5: Dagger is turned up. Speaker 1: Oh man, that I've never been so happy to have my fun taken away from a, a tricky creature. Speaker 1: Like, it's got a bunch of like stuff it can do, but, ah, fuck that. Speaker 1: This was, this was wet. Speaker 1: Do you know who you're going to piss off? Speaker 1: I threw this at a couple of Patreon groups. Speaker 1: You're going to piss them right off. Speaker 1: Because they had a time. Speaker 3: Like Jameson said, just declare your character a legend. Speaker 4: That's that simple.
Speaker 4: It's that easy. Speaker 4: Yeah. Speaker 1: Guys, I think it's a good time for us to stop for the night. Speaker 1: Yeah. Speaker 1: The path is clear for you guys to walk right into Esther Holt at the beginning of next session. Speaker 2: Get a steak. Speaker 2: Yes. Speaker 2: Yeah. Speaker 2: Loggerne's buying. Speaker 2: I guess. Speaker 2: After that, I'll buy. Speaker 5: Yeah, well, yeah. Speaker 5: All right. Speaker 5: Oh, no, you're standing around here. Speaker 5: Let's go. Speaker 5: Kick the thing. Speaker 5: What? Speaker 3: Wait, parts, maybe.
Speaker 5: Yeah, is there anything? Speaker 5: I mean, those plates got to be worse. Speaker 5: Right. Speaker 1: Yeah. Speaker 1: Yeah, no, that's a. Speaker 1: So, Jesus, I didn't know we get it. Speaker 1: this. So fast. So fast. So harvesting those plates, you can make a special armor out of that. Speaker 1: I put it on top of the stone. You, so this is going to sound really fucking stupid. Speaker 1: You could get a thicker set of armor by wearing this. Oh my God. It would it. Now look, Speaker 1: it would be heavier than what you're wearing by 25.
Speaker 5: Hounds. Oh, I got hurt for that. That's fine. Okay. I mean, I don't know, but the stone armor is pretty Speaker 5: dramatic. It is it. Well, you know what? What we could do is incorporate. How about that? We can Speaker 2: There's probably enough here to Mando or armor some things here. You know, it's not like full. Speaker 2: It's just like thing here, a thing there, a little bit of re-forms there. Speaker 1: Yeah. Some greaves. All right. Just come dragging all these plates and Speaker 1: And it's like, can anyone shape this? Speaker 1: Who's...
Speaker 2: We need your best armor and a steak. Speaker 2: Where's the bond says? Speaker 5: Our boulette steaks edible. Speaker 1: I was just going to say we may have steak made. Speaker 1: Here's the... Speaker 1: Okay, it is a delicacy. Speaker 1: They're just fucking hard to get into. Speaker 1: Most of the time. Speaker 3: I think it was pretty easy. Speaker 3: I don't know. Speaker 1: I don't see a big deal with it. Speaker 1: Honestly, I feel like you shot this arrow and like, like old Acme cartoon, it cut itself. Speaker 1: And it's like here, I'm just going to divide up all my meat.
Speaker 3: And then like, br-roo-roo. Speaker 1: And they're like piles. Speaker 1: To be it. Speaker 1: It's amazing. Speaker 6: Charges his carapace into a smoker. Speaker 1: Like it's like, you bring this.
