We finally made our way to the Durgar stronghold in the Black Rock Mountains, all in search of a way to gain a heck of a lot of arcane-infused adamantine for a special artifact we've been piecing together. Once inside, the minimalistic and very practical Durgar are all a little hyper-focused on their work, but nothing too weird.

What did get weird was when chimera huffed some of the arcane gases and basically super-soldiered himself, warlock speaking. Once we eventually made our way into King Hargroll's throne room, chimera was able to spot not only that the king we were talking to was an illusion, but also there was something massively arcane hiding behind a secret wall. Ruby flipped a switch to reveal the actual king, drunk on and infused through his body with some sort of arcane overflow. He didn't want to be interrupted. And yeah, minor boss fight incoming. So this time on Frostborn, we find out more about the king behind the curtain, or wall, and exactly how much he didn't want to be interrupted.

Turns out not a lot. Listen, going in on this fight, it's 11 to 1. Spoiler, a couple of those numbers change by the end. Take it away, Jason. So before we get to potentially our last session, I want to... Jason. I'm going to go for something called Twist the Blade. Oh. Twist the blade basically means in a nutshell, I can crit on an 18, 19 or 20. Are you kidding me? Holy God. I pay for it. I was exertion, but yeah, totally. But there's a reaction. If I hit and it's like an 18 or 19 or 20, I can spend on making that a crit. Wow. Okay. Okay. Damn. I felt like that might be important. And also narratively, another upgrade to her stuff and punching hard and she's got these things. She calls them focal force springs. They're basically just exertion points, but it's just like, whatever she's adding to her stuff, right?

That's my choice. And I am going to take agonizing blast. So just a little bit of extra damage to the Eldridge Ray. Because that's kind of the theme of this level up is from the story-wise, you know, drugs, explosion, output, damage. you know, destruction, that kind of force kind of feel. Got it. And I also get another spell. I get some more spell points and I get access to third level spells now, which is awesome.

And because of that, because of this, a whole drug thing, I'm going to take fireball. Oh my. Fireball. It's time. Yeah. Well, okay, shit. That comes a day in every spell catcher's life. We just rewrite this encounter. Yeah, to zero to these hit points. Hold on a second. I thought about it long and hard, too, because there, you know, third level spells are good. Like, that's when the good shit starts coming through, you know? And there were a couple. I was like, man, these are all good. And I will take them eventually. But it felt the it felt like that was the progress of things.

It's like this like crazy drug that like makes all this like arcane stuff happen and make you want to explode. Felt like Fireball was appropriate. Damn. Okay. Yeah. No. That makes sense. Yeah. Okay. Shit. Jameson. You're up. Yeah. Not a lot of decisions, but I do get a lot of stuff. So proficiency bonus goes up to three. Commanding Presence range, it doubles from 10 feet to 20. That's nice. Yes, that's good. I get combat directives, which is the thing we talked about last time, where I can now, when I tell somebody to attack, I can also have them use one of my maneuvers for free.

They don't even have to use exertion points. Damn. I also get an additional maneuver that doesn't count against my limit of maneuvers, which is weird to me. Just increase the limit of maneuvers by one. But okay. I also get a follower. Yeah. And I get an additional maneuver. So I actually have to pick two maneuvers. That's kind of the only thing I have to pick here. While you're doing that, could you give me a D10, please? Oh, I would love to. Oh! That's me. Plus two. Plus three. No, plus two, because one for con and one for being a dwarf. Yes. Yeah. I put you up to 48.

I feel like I'm able to this. It's very able to. Here's the thing. I think the implication is you're building momentum, which you couldn't do if you move 30 feet. It's more just an eventuality, not. It's more just the slow roll. It's a bowling ball. You know, the slow bowling ball that still gets the strike. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Somebody with a Zamboni, you know, just they don't, you know. I'm going to say yes. I'm going to say you can, if you move your full 15 feet. I can use the maneuver. Otherwise, yeah, we'd have to get to dash. I literally can't use that otherwise.

You can see your ally can use their reaction to move up to 20 feet to be adjacent to a creature. You'd designate. So an ally would also move 20 feet. As long as you move at least 20 feet. And both you and your ally are adjacent to the creature. It makes a strength saving throw or is not prone. Here's the cool part. Alternatively, you and your ally may both choose to go prone to force the creature to fail at save.

Oh, like you're attack. You're chop blocking them. We can just go over it. Yeah. Oh. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, okay. All right. And you cannot use this maneuver against creatures more than one size. as size category larger than you or your ally. So. Okay. So that's one. We wanted to double tackle. And then the other one we're going to do is called a dual grapple. You join in a grapple instigated by an ally, making athletics check against the maneuver DC of a creature. An ally has grappled if you succeed, the creature is restrained until the grapple ends. And neither you or your ally, either you or your ally are also restrained until the grapple ends.

But not both of us. This just makes me think you're making us into a football team. Yeah. These two kind of feel like they go together. So let's take them together. And there are two streams of it running down the side of this room that he's in. And I do not see a way that this doesn't result in a fight. But if any of you can think, of something to say or do. But she's going to see Nithira. or chimera with wide-eyed pupils, like, I'm going to let him get some of that off before I get close. So Nithira is actually going to take out her short bow, which she usually doesn't do 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30.

She's going to take out a short bow. Use cunning action to dip it and oil of tag it, which is something she has from the Poisoner's Almanach, which is slick gray odorless oil creature DC 13 Constitution saving throw or is subjected to this poison and becomes unconscious for 24 hours. So I'm using my cutting action to dip it in that oil of tag it. And now I'm going to use my short bow. Okay. Let's see. Oh, oh, almost a crit. This 24 hit. This 24 hit. It does hit. It does. Okay. Man, you really got to look at that bar to see if it moved. He is immune to being charmed and poisoned and has resistance to poison damage.

Because otherwise, everyone would just have a gun. One, they're expensive as shit, but two, that shotgun's going to do and it's just a crazy amount of damage, but could knock you flat on your ass. So we'll see. At least you're bracing it against something, so you know, you know. So what he's going to do? Because Kimira is within his commanding presence. He's posted up behind the shield with Kimera 10 feet behind him. He's going to look over his shoulder. He's going to say, on my mark. And commanding presence is going to have Kimira fire his weapon at the same time that Lagerin fires his because I can do two attacks now.

And in a straight line, right in front of him, he is going to ball up his fist and strike the ground. And he's going to do something called Earth Shatter. I'm glad everybody's in a straight line. Yeah. Thank you. Perfect. Awesome. Well, thankfully, it's only 20 feet. So that's. gets Ruby, dozer, and loggren. If I could get a straight save, DC 17. I'm glad I'm on the other side of the room. She can spend per day for anything she wants to. So that's off the list for now, but at least it got a hit. So nine bludgeoning damage, which means she's then going to invoke tyrant's teeth as a bonus action, which means she can deal 46 force damage.

Which is happening right now. Just the 17. So as she's doing this uppercut, her gloves are going to glow and there's going to be this spectral like reptilian something just around that glove and straight up into his jaw. Yeah, no, he's just taken this. Like, just, you're doing lots of damage. And you're seeing that there's repercussions for this no matter what, whether you should do him or not. Jesse's going to use his gun as well. Oh, please. Oh, my God. Please. Please, please, please, please. Please, please. Please, please. Oh, can I? Before we, I'm just going to move around his side, so I'm not right in front of him. of his breath or whatever he's going to do at me.

You can spend two exertion points to immediately use the weapon. to make a melee weapon attack against the creature.

I'm gonna hit him with his own fucking hammer. This is when you say, I'm not afraid of you, right? I'm not scared of it. Okay, so I'm gonna hit him with his own weapon. I just, what do you want to do? Just what's the damage on that thing? Is it? A lot. So okay. Okay. So here's the thing. It's the Royal Warhammer. Okay. Give me a D20. On a 1 through 10, nothing happens. On 11 through 20, that weapon's still imbued with his power. You're going to deal extra force damage like he would have done to you if he hit. 18. Oh, right. An 18. Holy man. So that's 48 damage if you hit.
