Time's Up
What Happens
The party remains as 'guests' under protective guard in the Duergar city following King Hargroll's death. Over three days, they navigate politics and investigations while Rial assembles a council to review what happened. Chimera suffers withdrawal from the arcane drug, experiencing hours of screaming and short-term madness. Meanwhile, Logrhyn works on securing alliances with the Quickbolts and Brax, discussing plans for Stone Sunder. The episode ends catastrophically when Chimera, pressured by Kolgoth's deadline, manipulates Jesse into signing a warlock contract—only to have Kolgoth seize control and murder Jesse, absorbing his soul.

Hey folks, Jasper here. Welcome back to Dungeons and Randomness, Arc 6, Frostborn. Couple of things real quick. If you're new or just forgot what happened because time is meaningless these days, we made you a lovely one-hour recap. It covers the whole first chunk of the Frostborn campaign, and it's sitting there in our feed like a warm, delicious ketchup casserole. Go eat it. And if you do listen, please consider making it your goal this week to send it to just one person who's never heard of DNR. Your cousin. Your co-worker. That old woman at the bus stop who said, you like dragons and then cackled.
Whoever. Okay. On to partners and plugs. First of all, Enclave is now live on Kickstarter. It's a fast, dice-less, dangerous, T-TRP that we love. The new edition Advent and its expansion aspirant are enormous. And if you back it using the link in our episode description, you get a DNR exclusive class. That's ours, baby. Also, we played Enclave. It got weird. The episodes in the feed. go listen. And of course, as always, we play level up advanced fifth edition from EN publishing. Every role hits harder. Every mistake stings more. Code D-A-N-D-R gets you a discount.
Link is in our episode description. We love them. They keep the blood, the story, and the chaos flowing. Now, this last one is important. James and Alcorn, otherwise known as Lagerin-Kragborn, also known as the Emotional Dwarfg Holding Our Party Together, has a graphic novel dropping on November 4 called Lobster. It's what happens when a humble main lobsterman gets blessed by a crustacean god and told to take down corruption with claws. It's anti-corporate, pro-weird, and extremely Jameson. Think hellboy meets swamp thing meets climate revenge. We're going to back it and we think you should too.
There's a Kickstarter link in our episode description. If you follow that, you can be the first to know when it goes live. And you can show some love to one of our own. All right. Enough of that. previously on Frostborn. We fought a Doer-King. It did not go well. Well, depending on who you ask. One of our Minotaur buddies, Dozer, died in the battle. So did a couple of Durgaard guards. Door guards? Uh, anyway, Mad King Hargroll went too far and was ended by Brax's horns. He's our other Minotaur buddy. So, you know, just overall regicide. Not great. The only good news for us, Real, a magic-wielding door guard who not only witnessed to but helped us out during the fight says they're definitely going to have an investigation, but just not to worry.
So for now we're being held as guests under protective guard, while the Dorgar figure out whether we're heroes, criminals, or both. So yeah, this might take a couple of days. This time on Frostborn, it's a bit of a breather until it's not. Guided tours of the Dorgar refinery, Logrin doing what he does best, planning and making allies. Nithera even gets some peace and quiet for once. Oh, and one more thing, and I promise I'm not being overly dramatic here, please listen to the end, because a very serious line gets crossed by someone you know and love.
Like, it's genuinely not okay. All yours, Jason. Let's do that thing. Where we go around the table and introduce ourselves. I'm Jason. I'm the dungeon master. Going around the table starting with Ian. Hi, I'm Ian. My pronouns are he, him, any. And I am playing chimera, the Tiefling Warlock. And Jasper. Hey, him. I play Ruby Pedigrew, the half-orc, gearslinger adept. And Jameson. Hi, I'm Jameson. He-him, and I play Lock and Cragborn, the Dwarven Marshal. And last and certainly, not least, Susan. Hi, I'm Susan. My pronouns are she her, and I will be playing Nythera, Rilith, the Elven Rogue.
We did it. That's great. All right. Yeah, that's it. Yeah, that's it. All right. Try number 25 was the charm. Uh... Well, everyone take a nice deep breath. We are over the boss fight hump. We have new problems now, but a drugged up king is not one of them. Where we left off was in the Durgaar Throne Room, where, well, we, we, regicide was the word used. It's a big word. King, Hard Girl, 4 star is dead. Arguably, though, right? I mean, is it regicide if, if they're not themselves? Actually, yes. The answer is yes. They're still a king. It's just a title. And our group didn't kill them.
Some random guy did. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, that's kind of brilliant. Yeah. What are they? doing to you. We tried to stop him. Better break it off with the minotars and come to our plan. Guys, what the hell? Yeah. We have a, I know what you did last summer situation. It's like, no, no, we take this to our grave. Like, either we're all in and more. Everyone's, we should be, you know. So. Dozer died brutally. Mm. We have two dead door guard, guards, doer guards, if you will. Oh, God. And Brax went temporarily insane and finished off the king here. But everyone got some good shots in.
I guess. So, let me paint a picture and then I have to ask you guys a few questions, because there's a lot. There's a lot to handle now. So. Rial is still in a bit of shock, but starting to starting to get her shit together. So going over to the two guards and, and, you know, they are very obviously dead, but has to do a cursory, like, is there anything I could do for you? And then basically, um, taking a couple of objects all off of them. She knew them. So it was like, okay, well, uh, we're gonna have to, uh, it's, it's customary for to do regard to, uh, kind of get a Viking funeral to be burned to ash.
So that's going to happen eventually as far as Hargwork was. It's like, okay, this has never happened in our culture before. We don't exactly know what was going on. I, you know, she's going to. She's, going to be looking into that, but everyone else is back out of that room. Back to where the, the, uh, the fake King hologram thing was. What are you guys doing? How are you handling this? And Ian, we're going to have to circle back around to you soon to deal with, uh, you know, the come down. Yep, yep. But before we leave that room, Ruby would do one thing.
Just, uh, just, uh, basically just in case it mattered at all. She would, the horns of Dozer were ripped off. Kind of just as a impulsive, you know, impulse by kind of a thing. She would try to pick up those horns and take them with her. I don't mean like stick them in her pocket, like a secret, but she would feel like that was important. maybe not stealing them from the body like a like I'm going to make a cup out of them or something but but almost like this this may turn out to be an important thing to keep to to show to have in the future somehow.
And then just under Rayel's like if she allows it, Nythera would help get the bodies on. of that, hey, we are helping. Like, we're not here to kill your king and leave. Like, she would like respectfully help arrange the bodies wherever. She needs to do so and then help get dozer out of there. Like. Whatever we could quickly do, nothing like, we don't have to sweep up and like, you know, use Lysol everywhere. But the only other thing that I think Ruby that was on my mind was, if we're all sort of stunned this only happened in like 40 seconds tops right this whole shabang like in the stun I feel like Ruby being right up there next to him and Lagarin being right up there next to the king I think I don't know if his warhammer would be on the ground on the ground but I think she would try to pick it up and hand it to Lagrin and say somebody's going to want them.
I think Lager is still holding it. That's right. That's right. Never mind. But no, he's very much of the same mindset. Like if she looks at it in his hands and says, somebody's going to want it. Yeah. Yeah, we'll find who it belongs to. I mean, somebody's got to be next in line, I guess. While she's getting the horns, right? Like, she's just, she's probably in shock a little bit, a little bit stunned. Anyway, not to belabor this. We can get out of the But we're showing respect and we're trying to get our bearings. So I imagine there's a there's a obviously dragging these bodies is going to take a while and trying to you know there's probably a couple of moments of silence.
There's so time has passed a good 20 minutes or so. Real hasn't she hasn't really spoke much but But I think after everyone's out of there and you're kind of standing around, there's that, there's the elephant in the room, the question, it's like, what now? Like, what? So what for your people? What about us? Like, are we free to go? Like, are we, you know, there's a lot of big questions. And she would stop looking at Harkroll and kind of panorize. we have a few problems here. People are going to find out about this, and I don't... I don't know exactly what to say.
How... How would you explain what just happened? Laugrin almost said something about, well, it would have been nice if a couple of our witnesses survived. A couple of those people would call explicitly into the room so that they could see what happened and then help us report it. Who get themselves flattened. So, he, Lagerin looks at her and like he agrees. that there are now some problems, right? And he goes, I can't tell you how that's going to work necessarily. I can tell you as much as we know on our way here. Maybe you can tell us a little bit about what you noticed.
About him pointing to where Hard Girl was. Maybe there's enough there. If there's not, then... I don't know. Plan B. Plan C. I don't know which plan are we on. He'll basically, I don't know how much it helps us in character hash it out, but he'll tell the whole context of like, we were here just to see if we can negotiate some Adamantite. We met these guys and he'll point to Brax to like invite him into the conversation because it feels like he's going to have something to say. And they had met with Hargrove previously. And they said he didn't seem like himself.
And then the Quick Bolt, who are our guides, said that he didn't seem like himself. And we got here, and he was definitely not himself. And you saw that, you know. I think one of the big questions that we need to answer is, who is next in line? I doubt it's real. But no. No. It could be. Maybe they could be. And I think Kimeri even brings that up. Like, you know, and not in a way that's like, hey, you know, let's be surreptitious about this. But like, how do you want to spin this? Like, we're here. Like, these are your people and we don't know your people. How is it you?
What is the best way that you think this would be received? Do you want to tell the truth? Or do you want to bend the truth? Give me a persuasion check. No. I will assist. You still got a couple of minutes of high left. I, I, I, yeah, like. Oh, three times damage, just just kill her. Oh, yeah. Oh, God. Oh, good. I'm kidding. Well, she's right too, right. Oh my God, that's right. Yes. Yes, she's yeah. Yeah, we'll deal with that. So I got an assist and I got an expert T died. So that means I got a D6, right? Do you have that correct? Okay. You have that correct, sir. I'm gonna need it.
Hey. Oh, Chiff. That's a 26. So, I think under normal circumstances, she would probably, you know, she understands the pragmatic nature of what you're saying. right? She's a little hopped up right now, so kind of quick to, quick to anger. But that's a really good persuasion check. So I think without that, she'd be pretty insulted. It's like, you want me to lie about that? That would be her, you know, natural reaction. No, I do not wish to lie. That would be... You don't have to do the lines. I'm very good at that. And she's going to hold her in up. Enough has already happened.
Let's... There. I would ask that all of you stay overnight at least. While I... Why I assembled the council, they can see everything that happened here. and know that we're not hiding anything. Not are we? Sorry, I interrupted you. No, and she's very... She's very quick to... No, I saw what happened. You did not have a choice. We... If we lie about anything, and they find out it would all unravel. And... There's enough to deal with. And she'll look over at Hargwell again. Do you have... I mean... Somebody's king or queen or something. I mean, whether they know it or not, there's somebody out there right now.
Who is it? And she's... So, you're outsiders. Hey, does anyone... Anyone trained in culture? I think so. Sometimes I know not to ask. That's a if you want. It's like sneaking, lying, stabbing. You guys got that covered. Culture, history. I can do a cartwheel over her. Would that help at all in any way? Oh, that's on the table? Okay, let's double team that. I've got history. I've got history about culture. Okay. So, yeah. So, um, She would kind of explain it to you. Our leaders are chosen, not born. But that being said, there are only a few likely candidates, and the council will elect them.
It's a show of good faith. I will put you up in one of our best rooms, and there have to be guards standing outside, just as a precaution. And she's going to look over at Brax and Jesse and Austin. I'm afraid that goes for you as well. You can instantly see Brax is not not fucking happy with that. Like it's like, oh, so I'm under arrest, basically. He's starting to get a little bristly. Yeah, a loggerna'll jump on that actually. And he'll kind of like put a hand out towards Prax. I'm like, whoa. Got a lot I want to talk about with you too. about what happened in there in your brother.
So we could use that time. And she would be quick to tamp down any notions that you're being arrested or that you're on trial. It's much more, it's like, hey, this would go so much more smoothly if you weren't free to walk around the premises after this. You know what I'm free to go? Am I free to go? Are I free to go? Are I free to go? Am I being detained? You're saying I'm a person of interest. What are the crime and I'm committed? You know what I'm a drug me? So it's more just like, hey, let's, let's bring other people in. They could see what happened. Because the magic runoff still here.
All of this is like they like. Yeah. There's yeah. I'm twice as usual. Eyes. Again, I can't speak to the politics and the nature of your civil but you might want to be careful to, Real. Just saying. How do you mean? I mean, you're the only one here who's seen the death of your king and that might not rub everyone the right way. They might leap to conclusions, make narratives. I've seen it all. So I would be careful. Give me persuasion check, please. All right. Mm. Hmm. Damn. 29. Good God. You're in your element. This is... Yeah. I got to be... Political intrigue. Yeah.
Politically intrigue. Hi. All cylinders. Can you just one of those if it's both, though? It's a sweet squad. Again, I think normally she would react a little bristly, but she knows what you're saying, and it's coming from a place of, hey, just watch yourself. I had a great respect for that, man. And I believe everyone knows that, but I understand your concern. we saw coming in here you guys are the most organized people I've ever seen the detective work, the investigation they must be able to do to determine what happened, confirm what we're telling them, has to be there, right?
Like, who do you report crimes to? Can we get them first? Susan, were you going to? I was just going to say in ninth ear would pipe up. And to further, if there's an investigation as to our willingness in this, she's going to hand over one of her bottles of oil of tagget. That arrow sticking out of him, you'll find traces of oil of tagget on it, which isn't meant to kill. It's only meant to subdue, which he clearly resisted, which should help. To let anyone investigating know that our intention was not to kill. It was only when our lives were threatened.
I... Just a little choked up? Like, I can promise you they'll be very thorough. And I don't believe you're in any danger of being blamed for this. He made his own choices. And we'll get to the bottom of that. That being said, it might take a few days. Are you all right? staying here for that long? It would go a long way to helping us. We all look at Logrin. Yeah. So inside Logren, Brain says, this is great. This is everything. This puts us in an awesome position. Outside Logren says, yeah, we can do that. It's real nice in here. By the way, Ruby's like all, remember all of her stuff is, she's just like tank top.
Like at this point, like, she's sweating. She's just like, it's kind of nice, actually. I'm kind of getting used to it. Throne room on fire. Yeah, exactly. I'm not making it lie. It's just, it is kind of nice in this mountain. You've traveled a long way. We have guest quarters. I will make arrangements for you to stay. You. And she's going to point to Kimira. If you need to speak. And she's going to. for you to kind of split off. Just come here. I kind of just like look at everyone, but I follow her. And you're only going to walk away like, you know, 15, 20 feet.
Nothing huge. What is it you gave me? Because I feel like my heart is burning. Like I... I... I've never felt this. It feels kind of. good, though, right? I mean, gives you a little oomph, a little pep in your step. I feel powerful. I don't feel as I have control. That's the problem. Do you feel like this all the time? Is this something you do often? As often as I can. What exactly is it? What... What... what... I believe? this is a narcotic, a drug of some sort. What did you give me? It is. That's correct. I haven't come up with a name for it. I'm thinking Chimera's Arcane Huff or something like that.
I don't know. I'm still workshopping it. Wait a minute. This is something you created. You just made this? I am marketing it. I didn't create it. It is sort of the... you know, the byproduct of mining, minerals, smelting, that kind of thing. Adamantee. Tight, time? Mm. Kip? Okay. Okay. There's going to be a long pause. How long have you been using this? My whole life. Give me a deception check, please. Gladly. 26. Jesus. So because she has the poisoned immunity and poison resistance, it's not hitting her as hard as it hits you. It's almost like Superman. He can't get drunk because his body can't, you know what I mean?
He can't become inebriated. So it's, she's feeling like, oh, man, that was like a five-hour energy or something. This is, this, you feel like this all the time? Oh, my God. Like, you know, so it's going to hit you way different. But this raises further questions in her head. You've, you've mind adamantite all your life. Not minded. I've just been around it. I'm a traveler. I've been to a lot of places. Had the great pleasure of having the company of Duraghar in those travels. But that's not, that's not the important thing. The important thing is we needed to have every advantage.
And we needed everything in order to stay alive. And you saw it yourself, even with everything, that we had, people still got killed. I'm sorry I couldn't give you more information in the heat of the moment, but I was trying to think of protecting everyone, including your king. So okay. So okay. You know, you're playing something like Baldersgate and you can instantly tell without even the little text, like little telltale game text that you've pissed somebody off, like you've rubbed them the wrong way. You have rubbed her the wrong way. Uh, moral implications alone.
It's like, so wait, I'm inebriated. Like, I thought this was like, you know, like giving somebody a health potion or something like that. So you gave me a drug. And she's starting to think that you're a liar. Because it's like, what Duragar have you been around? There's one. There's one clan of Duragar. So would you go to high school with somebody here? Like, where did you? Like, what? Like, there's a lot of questions. So instead of pursuing this, she's kind of got her arms crossed. Mm-hmm. I'll set you up with a room right away. And just like, that's the end of the conversation.
Just like kind of done. But yeah. It doesn't take it. It doesn't take an insight check to pick up. It's like, like, okay. Got it. So guards are going to walk into this chamber eventually. And we're always going to cut them off. Like, oh, we're moving this way. Can you show them to one of the guest quarters? And, you know, so if you were persons of interest, they have smaller guest quarters where they would split you up and, you know, not, you know, it's beds. It's like a little motel room, you know, but this is a nicer place. So you're going to walk in. And the furnishings are really nice, actually.
These are, you know, these are, um, there are a few different queen-sized beds. essentially in the room. And there's, um, if you, if you touch the bedside, there's this little illumination of magic that comes like a nice little reading like type of thing. It's very minimalist, but everything is in perfect working order. And yeah, it's, it's wonderful. It's, there's no TV or anything like that. So, but it's, it's very, it's like, it's like, it's like, wow, okay, this is perfectly functional. Like, just everything else here, you know. Everybody do me a favor.
Give yourself a long rest. My fear takes advantage of the reading light and is reading her poisoners' almanock. Good more poisons. That's what we need. That's... Yes. Lawgaring spends a lot of the night pacing. Like, there's no way in his mind that we are not persons of interest. So he's like we are being traded way too well for people who are present and active participants in the death of the king. So he doesn't trust it fully. He still thinks it's an advantageous position, but he's not willing to relax about it. So he spends a lot of the night pacing. He spends a lot of the night sort of going over his, I don't want to say notes, but his, kind of going through the motions of the plan and how things have changed and whatever.
Spend some time talking to each other, the other person, including the quick bolts, because he's makes sure that they don't disappear overnight. Oh, they're in their own room. Oh, no. Yes, they are. Can we go to them? Because I don't trust that at all. Like, are we allowed to leave our room? Briefly. Uh... So, again, Again, there are guards posted outside of each. And Brax is in his own place. So Brax is alone? Yes. And, you know, it's... Mostly it's a room thing. It's like, we don't want to pile seven or eight people in a room. But they're not going anywhere. That being said, I would like to fast forward three days.
And I want to hear what all of you would be doing in here for three days. Well, please, Susan. I was just going to ask, we have a very tight timeline with Kymura that I was worrying about. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. That's... Well, yes. Yeah. Okay. Let's do a few things. Yeah. Okay. Oh. We have like one day left, right? Yeah. Yeah. Three days would put me in a very tough position that I'm interested to find out. You know what? Let's fast forward to the seventh then. Long rest for everybody. And we got to deal with a come down with Kimera, which will mostly, if you're staying in this room anyway, it'll mostly be roleplay-play-wise.
Like, you know, so you're going to kind of get the sweats. There's a little mental strife that goes with that. Like two levels of mental strife. So I, with that, I'm going to have you rolling the table because of the way you got this strife. I want to roll on the short-term madness table. This will only be hours. So it's not dire. It's not going to change your character permanently. But it is like, oh, boy. Interesting. Oh, cool. Okay. Yeah. What you need me to do? Ian knows. I love some madness tables. Yes. Yes, indeed. I'm working on new ones that fit more with A5E.
There we go. So, short-term madness. So give me a D-10 first to see how many hours this is going to last. You got it. D10. Here we go. Okay. So that's a three. Six hours. So three times two, six hours. Then give me a D100. D100. Let's go. How about a 21, bainte uno? Hmm. Oh, God. Okay. This is worse than... Okay. Oh, no. You're... Okay. You are in You're in a Four of you in a room. It's a little tight. It's a little crant. Considering you can't go for a walk, there's, it's like, oh, let's go catch a movie. Let's get, you can't. Like, you're just kind of stuck here. Give me a D6, please.
And this is essentially just going to be a D3. Oh, gotcha. Okay. Two. Okay. So. after you come down that night, you're going to be incapacitated. And you're just going to scream off and on for six hours, just screaming. Like, you're seeing things that the party can't see. Like you've, okay, so picture it like this. This drug opened up possibilities to you. It made you feel things you've never felt. It's like you developed a new sense. And then it was taken away. Imagine just randomly your eyesight goes out or you can't hear. You have no feeling of touch. Like it's, it is a, it is a seventh.
Like it's like, oh my God, I can do, you know, it's a seventh ability score. And then all of a sudden it's gone. Mm-hmm. So I'm severed. Yes. And you're not taking it well. So six hours of just off and on screaming. Inconsolable. No one can. can get through to you to talk. And it's just like, okay, make sure he doesn't bite his fucking tongue off. Let's just, you know, and after six hours, you're gonna just. Yes, exactly. Like, just screams like, ah, ha, ah, uh, uh, like you're, it, it kind of peters out. And then you, you just go to sleep. Like you're out. You're completely drained.
Boom. I think Ruby would have been trying to take. take care of Camera during that time. Like, like, she probably would have gotten frustrated after a while. Like, okay, enough, enough. Yeah. At some point, putting in, like a wet wash cloth, you know, on his forehead, kind of a thing. And finally, when he calms down, just finally, you know, like, okay, good, okay, okay, okay. Just, you know, keeping some water around, keeping everything, keeping somebody close by. During that time, Labyrinth is going to get the extra bottles of that shit out of his bag.
That's probably not the worst idea. He looks at night there and he goes, not again. No way. He's like a pillow around his head. I could knock him out. Sinkly. Yeah, Ruby wouldn't. I got him. I got him. He's gone through this so many times. This is old hat. He'll thank me in the morning. Just screaming? That's. He's done that. In four hours. There's a little oil of McTaggart, whatever it is. It just makes him go to sleep. That's all I won't even hurt him. He can detox in a coma. He can just going to, you know. So I'm just going to scramble a little bit, just a little.
Just a little. Just to cut, just to muffle the scream. Go to sleep. Go to sleep. And do me favor. Give me 2D12. Oh, all right. I love to rope in a D12. Those are my favorite. Don't you dare. Don't you dare. I have to. I have to. So after you pass out, you're just going to sleep for seven hours, just straight through. And it'll be some of the most restful sleep you've ever had. It is weirdest dreams. Like real hardcore melatonin dreams. right? Just yeah, all kinds of weird stuff. But you're not in pain and you've stopped screaming. So I think yeah like Kimer finally like wakes up and he he's he's moved the I feel like they move whatever mattresses like onto the floor so it doesn't like roll off the bed and break his neck or something you know.
Maybe one on top of you. Yeah. Right. Everything's stone here, so there's not a lot of softness to offer. Yeah. The mattresses are not made of stone. No, but I feel like the floor is, right? Probably, yeah, yeah. Probably the bed frame, yeah. Yeah. And I think, yeah, I think like the, probably the first thing he sees is is Ruby and maybe she's like, I don't know what time it is, but maybe she's like sleeping or something like that. Yeah, snoring. Absolutely, starring. And he just sees that she's there, you know. And he's like, oh, okay. I know it's, I know it's been a burden for a little bit.
And he just kind of like takes, it takes like whatever blanket she has covering her and just like, tucks her in a little bit more. And just while Kimera was sleeping. And even if we tried to wake him up, he was. She's like, um, like, we would establish that he was asleep. I think Nythier would finally share with Logrin, Ruby, and hers research. Oh, yeah, while he's out. Yeah. This is a good point. Yeah. Of how to, like, info dump. Okay, while we were at the library, not only did we look up possible demon horns, we looked up demons and how to sever connections with them.
We didn't want to share this with Kamira. But we do have this information now. As many problems as that other guy causes us. I don't feel like this was him. I think this was Kimira. I could be wrong. I'm more so just telling you now, because I don't think that guy could hear us. chimera is this passed out. So you know how to do it? Well, we know it wouldn't be easy. And we'd probably die in the process. And so would chimera. But on the off chance it didn't happen, we could split them up. And it was never, I told Ruby this too when I looked up this information.
It's never my intention to force this on chimera. It's just I've known a lot of people. and I want him to know if he ever comes asking that there is a way out. It's good to know. Better to know than to not know. But I need. We need his whole toolkit. We need all of it. It has to get bad. It'd have to get real bad. but it could be done. That's all. Okay. I don't think he knows it. I don't think I want him to know. Okay. If we know, we know, we'll see what it comes to. Yeah. Logarin doesn't look like he likes the idea for the most part. Like he's kind, he's kind of like. almost like he doesn't want to talk about it.
But. Like, how does it want to talk about it? Like, it's an uncle you know is a problem, but it's like, you just putting it out of your head or like, like, imagine you are the San Francisco Giants in the 1990s. And you know that Barry Bonds is on steroids, but your team is winning. Okay. It's very specific. But okay. All right. I got you. He's going to break that record. And we're going to be on the team when it happens. And it's going to be great. Sure. It's a while. It's a problem. Yeah. You might never make the Hall of Fame. But that's a him problem. Not a nuts problem.
You will break some records. And we're going to be there for it. It's going to be great. I wouldn't want with Hulk Hogan. But like, same general. I think. Yeah. Yeah, but that's a little bit of like, not, not like, I don't want to know about it, but more like, I am unwilling to address it until we've done what we need to do type deal. So. For what it's worth, by the way, the guards would have checked in periodically, you know, because of the screaming. And just kind of checking, it's like, are you sure he's okay? Because you're not. The guards haven't been told why you're being kept here.
It's more just, hey, keep an eye on them. Make sure, you know, just give an orders to, you know, make sure you don't just leave. But you're not being treated poorly or anything like that. So they'll come in is like, can we do anything about that? And no. Is that one basically? That what? No. No. He does this. It's fine. I'm not okay. I'm not okay. Help me. Help me. Help me. It's fine. She's a pillow over the face. He's fine. I'm not going to say it happens all the time, but I'm not going to say it never happens. I mean, I may be exaggerating. However, he's okay. We got it, though.
Thank you. Thank you. Yeah, they probably check in like two or three times. You know, every couple of hours. It's like this. So, ETA. How long does this usually go on? You know, what? help as if you had like a big tray of cookies. It just brought that in the room. Some bears. You're not a sweets people, but like they'll find something for you guys. Literally anything. You guys eat like plain biscuits. God. They're a plain trisket people is what they are. Not even garlic and herb or anything. It's like, no, no, not even tomato and basil. It is a straight trisket for me.
Like. fight another salty and I'm going to scream. Bring me something else. That's why you scream. I can at least get a whipped cracker. Just like cheese to put on it. Something. So in those three days, obviously, Camara rides his roller coaster. And we have that conversation about that. Do we get a chance to talk to the quick bolts or to Brax or to. to watch her name. Real. Yeah. Do we get a chance to talk to her at all in those three days? Or is she pretty much? Well, first we got to go day one because Kimera's soul's count is due. He's got a, yes. So working.
That's true. Yeah. So I have it as the seventh of dual. I could be wrong, but I feel like it's the seven. Because a day didn't pass after. Yeah. When my notes, he fell into the phaerome on the sixth. So I thought we got to the Duerga on the seventh. Is that incorrect? That's what I had to. I could be wrong. I feel like it was the same because it was, you guys just. We got to get into your camp. And then we fell into the fair home. And then we had those two whites. And then she had to recast the thing the next morning. You know what? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Eight. Sorry.
Okay. So it is the 8th. Okay. Yeah. My bad. Yeah. So clock's taken. That's my bad. So okay. You'd have something like 27 hours left. Like not a full like, you know. So in your right mind and body, you'd wake up and kind of like, okay, what time is it? And it's not a deadline you forget. Yeah. No. So when you, when you. When you. When you. started that day. It's like, yeah, yeah, it's like 48 hours. It's fine. But after the King's stuff, six hours of screaming, a full night's sleep. It's like, oh, shit. It's 27 hours now. That's less hours. How would chimera be reacting?
How, you know, um, um, restless. We're stuck in a room. Like, we need to get out. Like, we need to, he needs to interact with people. He needs to. He needs to. He needs to. He needs to. to talk to people. He needs to like, reach out. He's like, I think he's like making, I think he's trying to schmooze these guards, you know? I think, uh, he's, he's trying, oh, we have all of our stuff, right? Yeah. Yeah. I have a potion of invisibility. So I'm gonna go, like, Yeah, I, Kimer is like trying to figure out what he can do. And so can, oh, can we go to we can we can talk to.
The quick bolts and I get, we can go and Brax and talk to them, right? Yeah. Okay. Sorry, I'm just like thinking about everything because I think that's what Kimer is doing. He's like panicking like I am. I'm just like, okay. Did you tell Ruby and my fear? Yeah. Does everybody know what's going on? I mean, if not, Ruby would be like, what? What, are you still? What's going on? The most you had was a conversation with Logrin. You're muted again. You had a conversation with Logren, but it was kind of wink and nudge. Like it's, you kind of phrased it's like, well, it's not out of control yet, but like, you know, so specifics were.
Yeah. I am on a bit of a time crunch and I need to get to get a life. I've been saying this for a real long time. I don't understand why it matters today. No, no, no, no, no. I need to. Lagerin puts him, his hand old, Camarra's mouth. He needs to talk to the quick bolts. They got some business that they need to go over. That's exactly what I need to do. Yeah, we just got to catch up on some things. He was a little out of commission for a while. We just got to get caught up with some things. That's all. I mean, I'm sure they let you go do it. I'm itching to get out of here.
I want to do like, oh, did, could, maybe I can get them to walk me around the smelting floor or something, just something. just to feel like I'm learning something. I mean, maybe we just all split up for a minute. Could you, if you do that, could you go maybe get a little bit more of that, that huffing stuff? I can't seem to find my bottles. Would Ruby know that that was taking care of? Yes, Logger and, like, basically looked at Ruby and that there and was like, taking these. No more of this. No, the guards took them, I think. I don't know. They're all out.
I feel like Lagerin strikes me as the kind of dad figure. Every hour on the hour, it's like, no, no more of this. I'm not going to do this anymore. Like, just as the screams keep going. Like we for our kids, we are in our family, we disappear things. It's like, you know what? Just disappear that. Like they have like a toy, like a plastic thing. that's just like really amazing. That shit will just disappear later. So you just long and disappeared these. Yeah, what's that a yo-yo that sings? That's gone. You know. Yeah. Disappears in a drawer at the top of a closet.
I'm gonna where we're buddy. It's gone. It's gone. I've got it. Gotta take better care of your things. Just gas like the shit out of them. I think it's on you, dude. Hey folks, Jasper here. Careful, though, it's may have weird side effects. A couple of words from our sponsors, then back to the show. So, yeah, I think I think you'd try and, like, talk to the quick bolts. That'd be the next thing to do. And maybe that's with logging. If two guards went with somebody, they would take you on a tour and stuff like that. You have to be watched. Yeah. Ruby. So my reason for saying that is, if y'all want to go talk to the quick bolts, have at it, I don't want to go sit in another room just for no reason and just chit-chat. I want to go look at something.
I want to go figure something out. So she would use that as a time like, fine, go blah, blah, blah. Who cares? I'd like to go somewhere. So y'all go that way. We'll go this way or whatever. I don't know what Nythera is up to. As a true mom, Ninthiero would be like, thank God. I finally get some peace, some alone time. Oh. Do they have a spa? Just like just 20 minutes by myself. Oh my God, they have like a heated tub and there's, you know, it's not decorative or fancy, but man, it gets the job done. Like it's got jets, baby. Everyone out. Like, it's probably heated from the smelting floor below, so you can get that water hot.
Like. So, okay. Then my theory is alone. Ruby's out on a tour, and we've got Logrin and Chimer going over to see the quick bolts, right? Now, when you walk in the room, there's two armed guards, and the rooms are a good distance from each other. Same hallway. And they would let you in. And you're going to hear the quick bolts. are arguing. Like, they are yelling at each other. Give me a perception check, both of you. I'm super good at that. Oh, oh, today, you are. Damn. Oh! Hard to ignore that are yelling. Shit. Okay, you want to roll on that little crit table there, buddy?
I would love to. The five is always aware for the next 24 You cannot be surprised except by magical means. I like that. And then there's a formula that does not work in the thing. It's just add U-U-I-D. Compendium A5E. Magical means such as "H! So you're both going to hear them crisply. Probably. I would say two things are going to dawn on you. One, they heard every syllable of chimeras screams in great detail. And that's probably why it's like, oh, shit, these doors barely block any sound. Oh, man, maybe that's a security feature. They're torturing the fuck out of that guy right now.
God, what do you do? It's been hours. Like, but you're going to hear before you even walk in. that they are... They're very clearly arguing about something. So... Jesse is all for turning you guys in. And just saying you... You absolutely assaulted the king. Whatever gets them out of here and... And Austin's essentially like, that's... That's fucking stupid. Why? Would we do that? That just wraps up us in things more. And it's not true. And, you know, so... And you get the sense that... this argument's been going on for a while. So, yeah, so we enter, and it's one of those arguments, I guess, where they don't notice when somebody walks in their room.
So Loggins just standing there with Camero next to and goes, we interrupt in anything. Both heads nap to you. Jesse's going to just like, just, like, just, you know when you're caught dead to rights, but like, like, you don't know how much that person heard. You know what I mean? So he's just going to like fold his arms and kind of stop into the corner of the room. And Austin's going to walk over to you. Would you hear? Are we any news? Any progress? What are we doing? I mean, for what it's worth, I'd probably consider turning us to, turning us into if I was in your position.
But, and he says it loud enough for the two of them to hear. But I don't think we'd be. have to. I think we're in a really good position. And that's what we came here to talk to you guys about. Austin, for it, so for what it's worth, Austin's gonna like wince. My brother gets hot-headed sometimes. Don't take that personally. It's self-preservation thing. Which is good. We need that. In fact, in fact, uh, you know a little bit of a kindred spirit i think with chimera a little bit of an undertone like camira go talk to jesse he's a good candidate that fucking rat yeah go kill that guy um yeah but uh loggerin since uh since uh since austin's a little bit more level headed loggering will will sit him down and and sort of like, basically work him through the upside of everything that's going on right now.
Like, yeah, we're here for three days. Yes, you're still going to get paid. You know, as long as we'll walk out of here, don't throw us on the bus, please. And other ways that they might turn this to their advantage, he's a card player. We can put it in terms of how to play your hand, right? So he would be at this point. So, okay. 24 hours ago, he was feeling a little bad about you hiring them to do a job that could no longer be done. 24 hours later, that's gone. He's more, he's like, okay, so we were supposed to actually, actually, yeah, about that. Yeah, about that.
Let's just back up for a second. Now, you hired us to kind of. help you break bread and work something out with the king. And you got us wrapped up in so much deeper shit now. So we might need to tell compensation down the road if we find out we're not going to die. Yeah, I'm going to need to be a little bit more clear about what you're asking. You want more money. long pause and then he is going to remember that Jesse was just talking about completely throwing you under the bus and he's just going to kind of wave his hands like just never mind that this put the agreed upon him now but I don't know about working with you guys down the down the road it's you play things a little loose don't you we're not we're not here to get into gun fights with people with people especially not some fucking king.
Well, I'm a little confused about which part of what happened yesterday was us playing it loose. Pretty sure we walked in on something insane. How about your friend getting fucking high before a meeting like that? Yeah, that's something we kind of tend to just roll into our plans. We get a little wiggle room there. A wild card. Yeah. Look, I know how Jesse comes off. But I'm not getting him hopped up on blood group before meetings like that. That just exasperates problems, you know? You might want to check your friend into a facility or something. Yeah, I mean, here's the thing.
No matter what, I still trust him. We're in a position. We got here in a untraditional way, but we're in a good position. now. You get what you want. We get what we need. They get what they want. They don't have a crazy king anymore. Everybody wins. This is good. He's going to kind of sit back. All right. So how do you want to play this? Well, there's no time in the whole 24 hours since we got here. or nothing, anything's happened that has been dishonest. Yeah. He's going to nod along, right? We came here to talk to the king. King went crazy. We had to fight the King.
We didn't want to. We tried not to. We tried to subdue him. He squashed a couple guys. You saw what he did. You've seen how orderly these people are. These people are orderly. There's no. there's no room for bullshit. The more you try to bullshit, and he points over at Jesse, the worst is going to get. And he realizes that Camara is also in that gesture. Like, look at those two bullshitters over there, bullshitting. Yeah. Probably lying to each other. Just like. Yeah, actively. Disception check. Deception check. Like, just. This isn't a place for that. This is a place where being as honest as possible gets as far as it can.
So that's what we're doing. We waited out. We benefit from it. Circumstances are unfortunate, but when's the last time you're in a position where circumstances worked out all the time for everybody? And he's kind of... Like, I think that puts his mind at ease a little bit. Because you're bringing up good points. Okay, here's the thing. On the surface, their king is dead. A dwarf, just a regular old dwarf, help kill him. A bunch of, the second, a bunch of outsiders introduced, that's when this happens. It's, you know, it was 11 on one. Like, to him, it's like, man, this is dumb.
And the more time he's had to think about this, you know, there's stuff he just wasn't privy to as well. Like, there's some behind the scene stuff you got to talk about, like, that he hasn't. So it's like, okay, we're. We're going to die here. There are guards making sure we don't leave. And this is a nice bed, but they're going to fucking kill us. Like I, you know, so. I realize you heard a lot of screaming the other day, but that's fine. Don't worry about that. Sorry. God, that could have been the thing that spurred on the conversation to. It's like, they're fucking torturing them, man.
Like, we got to flip on them. Like, that's the only way out of this. The problem was, to be honest. Yeah. And I think that's part of why Loggerin was. itching to get out and talk to everybody to be like we're okay he's not dying he's just um and he's in and to be honest listen if you if your brother there wants to flip we all saw a couple of extra guns pointed at him we know that where you guys fell again putting you know putting his hand up I'll talk him down he's fine like I said he's just he's never been in a situation like this before where, you know, we're kind of suspects in this, we can't leave.
So don't worry about him, but what are we going to do about our minotaur friend? I'm going to talk to him next. I need him. Look, I'm not telling you. you, your business, but, uh, that kind of anger problem. That's, that's not something you want around when you're dealing with sensitive situations. And he's not taking the death of, I don't know if that was his brother or whatever, but he's not taken that lightly. No, I don't want him for this. He's a nightmare in this situation. I need him after this. so we need him to cool it. So we've got to talk to him.
Poor guys by himself, too. That's the thing. It's like him being roomed up by himself actually is a huge problem for me. But yeah, so long is like basically I need you two to be cool so I can focus on him because I cannot babysit everybody. As long as you two can play along and I know you can, then I know you can. I can focus on keeping him regulated. And we can get out of this. Yeah, he's pretty much all on board. It's like, all right, go talk to him. And I'll, I'll talk to my brother. Also, I'm fifth level now, and I need a follower. Are you interested? Oh, you're high to?
I got a leaflet. Okay. Right now, I'm just taking seasonal help, but if this... It's all temp work until I find the right fit. Yeah. God. Trying... Oh, man, never mind. I was going to go into a big thing about temp work and the house and crash and having to... Oh, Danny. That's a different podcast, yeah. I know. Yeah. Can I ask what? What would Khimer be talking about with Jesse? If anything. I think first, Kimer is just kind of like, so you wanted to turn us in, right? He's almost... I obviously... in this situation, you'd be expecting at least a fist fight. You're like, you're motherfucker.
But like you approaching him. Like. Almost like, ah, you know. And Camar is smiling. Yeah. He's like, trying to lead in. A lot of tension off. He's like, yeah, I was, I was thinking about it. Like, kind of like shucks. Like, yeah. Like, you know. But you get it, right? Like, this is bullshit. I. Believe me. I of all of us get it. I likely would have done the same thing. It's understandable because it's about self-preservation. Am I right? And he's kind of like, yeah, yeah. He's looking at your fingers, your hands, a lot. Sorry, sorry. I thought you'd be missing fingernails or some shit.
You were screaming all fucking night. Yeah, I'm sorry about that. It was the come down from the drugs. Sorry if I disturb your sleep. Oh. It was rough. No, no, no. I thought you was being tortured. In a way, I was, but it was my own doing. And it. All right. Well, all that is to say, yeah, all that is to say is no hard feelings between us, right? I get it. I understand. He's gonna reach a, like, kind of shake your hands. Like, all right, I appreciate that. It'd been nothing personal anyway, you know. No, of course not. I, you know, I respect someone who knows who they are and knows where they stand and delivers that.
You know, and that's exactly who you are. It's everything's on the tin, you know? There's no... There's nothing you gotta dig through the weeds for. It's right there. I respect that. I gotta say that's refreshing, because a lot of people don't... A lot of people just don't appreciate my genus, say, qua, you know? They don't get it. I get that too. I get that too. Do you want to play a game of cards? Yeah, sure. You got anything to bet with? I've got some gold and stuff in my pack and got some things I can... You got any more of that stuff you took? I do. And I know where I can get some more.
I can get some more. So win-lose your draw, because this is going to be the most dishonest game of a car. any one's ever played, right? Like, again, kind of relaying back to it's like, come on, though. Like, we're both going to cheat our ass off, right? Like, okay. Absolutely. I'll be happy to buy some of that off you. Just, you know, for the road. Oh, gosh. You know. Yeah. Well, I'd be happy to make that transaction with you once we get out of this and all of that. So, that just going to just going to be to be that. Is Logrin just going to go ahead and go talk to Brax?
Or like, are you going to wait for it? Like, I imagine this is taking place while, you know. Logrin's going to talk to Brax and he's going to bring Austin with him. Who boy. Okie-doke. Let's do it. Okay. Okay. You're not going to hear any arguing this time because that would be insane. But you are going to hear it. Clompin. Like you're in here pacing. Uh, and you know, you and Austin walk in. Brax is kind of. He looks like he's ready to fight someone, but more defensively. Like as soon as the door opens, he like, he like stops and looks at the door like, oh, okay.
You know. Yeah. Logron's not in his armor by the way. I feel like that's worth mentioning because we've been sitting in a room for a day. So that would be insane. So he's like just in just like a shirt and fast. He's like, whoa. Yeah. Also, this would take. take hours just getting from room to room. So like, yeah, exactly. You know, we're on a table here. Yeah. So yeah, you put this hand up, you know. Jesse and Kimira back there playing cards and you and Austin are talking to Brex. And after you walk in, you know, Brax is going to relax because he figured, okay, it's going to be guards or something.
And he's going to kind of step forward and Look you up and down. Mostly down. They didn't hurt you. No. I was just explaining. I think we're okay. It's not great. Obviously, I don't want to be here for three days any more than anybody else. But I'm not worried. And I don't think you should be either. Mostly I'm here. I want to check in on you. I'm sorry about your partner. Again, expression softens. It's more sorrow than fury. I know the situation couldn't be helped, but... It doesn't change how I feel about it. I don't think it should. I understand you're angry.
I just want to make sure that anger gets used right. You want to use it effectively, right? You're going to kind of narrow his eyes. Yes. What did you have in mind? So, not here. We're in a delicate situation. I think you understand that. I think we're in a position to get out of here. Just like, yeah. Yeah. I'll take that as a yes. That was weird. Okay. So we're in a delicate position. A lot of what he said to Austin, you know, I think that when we're not in prison, I know we're under watch, but we're not in prison with these people of value order. There's going to be an investigation.
That's what they're doing now, all that sort of thing. So if you start breaking shit, it doesn't help anybody. It might feel good for a minute, but it's a city full of door. They will stop you and us eventually. That doesn't help. It doesn't help your partner's memory. We agree on that. He'll look at Austin too. Like, that makes sense, right? And for his part, Austin's letting you take the lead because you, you seem to have a better rapport with him. Then they just didn't interact with him much, but he'll come like, yeah, you know, can't have you smashing things, big guy.
And. Yeah. And, and Rax will fold his arms and again just, he took my gun. We'll get your gun back. Or get you better on, whatever. Here's the thing. I don't think we need to get into the details of it too soon because we have other problems. But once we're out of here, everything you told me about with the Minotaur and the drow. in the door guard. I think if you can do it, you got to get me in front of those people because I can make this entire plan work in a way that wouldn't have worked before. Brax wasn't the planner of his team, but he's going to, again, just kind of like eyeballing you.
Why do you want to attack the mountain? I would think you'd be against this idea. Yeah, I'm full of surprises. No, I don't want to attack the mountain. I want to take the mountain. The problem is the attack. That's where you guys will not fail. You probably succeed. But what do you have left? Smoldering ruins. A lot of dead people on both sides. That's not great. Even if you win. but I think I think with what you have in place I can help or you can help me one or the other. It doesn't really matter. I can't kind of arms fold a little defensive. You expect them just to hand the mountain over I was being sarcastic.
I know. That's the fun part. That's exactly what they're going to do. And then when that happens, the doors open for the Minotaur and the drought. That's the part I can offer you. Rex is the kind of guy. That knows someone is going to vet this plan and it's not going to be him. Because we've reached a point where he just goes, uh, magic. You're going to get a wizard to do? I don't know. So he's just... All right. I'm I can get you in front of people, but you should do a better job of explaining. Yeah, no, I mean, to be clear, I'm not explaining anything. I'm just telling you what the result's going to be.
All right. If you got a few hours, I can explain the whole plan, but it doesn't feel like you're in the mood for that. Actually... Keeping my mind on a goal might help. I don't want to explain the whole plan. I mean, he'll, so here's the thing. Loggeron will take a second and be like, oh, shit, like he wants to hear. Okay. And he'll, he'll kind of look towards the door and he'll look towards Austin and be like, listen. Because we're in this position together. This is something that I'll share. But it's putting a amount of trust in you two that makes us partners.
And that is not something that I take lightly, I think you can tell. I think you can tell. Austin's going to... I... So, Brax is probably on purpose. But he has stakes in that game. Alston's just kind of kind of bring up. No offense, but I don't care about Stone Sunder. So what would I be getting in a way of a partnership with you? Steady paycheck. How steady. What do you want a weekly stipend? Yeah. Look, I still haven't been paid the other half of the first paycheck. So I'm just trying to get some things down in writing. Sure. You got me intrigued, though. It beats looking for work.
Wow. We could do a couple of things. We left a couple kids back in Estherhold. Oh, I'm not into kids. That's not my thing. I'm not. Knocked that off. You're going to. He slaps him. Oh, am I about to find something about you? I don't want it. How many children? What seems fair? You tell me. Check. Yeah. Like jet. Yeah. Episode name. Come on. Nope. No. I'm about to just somehow hijack this call and just boot you both. Yeah. Listen, I don't know. You guys weren't here for the decision, but every title has to be a pun from now on. That's just what I'm asking. I like the jet in this.
Situation, Jameson's equally culpable somehow. Let's do anything. If it wasn't you that said it, it would have been me. Let's be right. Yeah. It does keep, it won't, it, it does keep, we're both people of interest. It keeps happening around us. Punds just happen when I'm in the room. I don't know. Um, so basically to, to Austin, he'll be like, we brought. some young and aspiring thieves into Asterole and they're looking to set up a network. Affiliated with us, maybe generate some profit, but we need more experienced hand to guide them, and we're not going to be an Asterole long after this.
So there's a use right there if you're looking for something. You mean like babysitting? Yeah, I mean babysitting. They're all six years old. No, I mean guiding them, teaching them, showing on the ropes. Hmm. All right. Let's, uh, let's say I have some things to teach them. Keep going. Well, they're part of your operation. I prefer it to stay. You know, of the, of the, you know, of the. of the con theft variety. But I'm going to ask for favors once in a while. Some of the funds will go up to our fort. It's about the extent of it right now. He keeps checking with Brax, like, am I boring the shit out of the Minotaur with no attention span right now?
I, he's... You... Okay. You're telling me, it's like, hey, I got a way to get Stone Sunder and no one. has to die, which has him equal parts intrigued and bored. It's like, I want to kill. That's the problem. You think I don't want to. That's not the problem. Look at my horns. I'm fine with it. I just, you know. But more dead man at tour was more of the angle. Right. Yeah. So he's, that's, that's, and he would probably be less receptive to it if not for dozer. So now there's a thing. It's like, well, I don't. Okay, fine. I don't want to lose anybody else. Go ahead.
So you probably got another five or ten minutes. At the risk of not drawing it out too much, like, essentially, Loggerne's going to talk to Austin about, essentially, here's how I want you to set up a criminal network and ask or add these kids to your criminal network. They work for us or with us specifically. But, you know, guide them, teach them, take a cut, whatever you got to do to justify it, you know. So you want a criminal LinkedIn, basically. Yeah, I want a referral bonus, you know. Yeah, okay. Okay. So we're going to, we're going to tie the criminal network of Esther Holt to the profit stream of Frostborn.
Smart. That sounds perfect. It's wonderful. I mean, it was obvious, right? It was right there. It sounds a little pyramid's game right now, but like he's kind of on board. He's like, all right, okay, let's see where this goes. This is not not his idea for a career path, but at the same time, recently, he's thought about restructuring. Due to some events this week. So we have that effect when we roll through town. Yeah. Do you want more of this? No, I don't. So what are you willing to not have more of this? Yeah. We'll go away for a few. We can make it go away for you.
We can make it go away for you. So. I'm just going to assume that night there is enjoying a bubble bath or something. You tell me. Well, you have at least an hour to yourself. Read, you know, sent a candle, the whole nine. I think there is at least a solid five minutes where she just enjoys the silence. There is no one around. She does not have any obligations. She doesn't have to think about anybody. So there's just like if you like catch her, she's just sitting there. Like it looks like she's just staring at a wall. But she's just enjoying not having to do jack shit.
Hmm. I'm in there. I get it. Yeah. That sounds amazing. Yeah. After this call, actually. As soon as we hang up, I'm going to sit and just stare at a closed door for. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I turn the camera off and then just stare ahead. Disassociate into the boy. My revenge, bedtime, procrastination is dystopian. It is just stillness. For real. I get out of this call and I just sit in a chair and I'm just like, and that's it. But most of the time, no theory. So yeah, nice bubble bath. A glass of wine. Reading the Poisoner's Almanac. But then like organizing like notes.
It's like making copies of the chimera demon pack notes. Like, I want everyone to have a copy because I'm in a deadly profession. Now, I don't want me to be the only one that has this. Yeah, I think as a group, we reproduce things in triplicate kind of a lot. Yeah. And Ruby. Mm-hmm. So if you're getting the tour. Obviously, I'm guessing you're, you want to check out the adamanty. For sure. I mean, she's absorbing whatever they will let her get near. Like, she's going to probably take a little bit of liberty and probably get a little closer to machinery and and tools.
Like, but in an excited way. She's not trying to steal anything or whatever. She's just like, let me see how that works. And she'll probably try, you know, she'll crouch down. She'll put, to poke around at different things. as long. And I think also she'd be engineering respectful. She wouldn't like, you know, put a crowbar in a in a gear. Like she's, she knows what she's doing. She's, she's used to this, right? Right. And it would be too far. Yeah, I was but to say, I didn't think you'd do that until you said it. And now that's all I can think about. So I, you're going to get, because of this tour, you're going to get some, some useful information.
So the way adamantite refinery works, you've seen the runoff and you've seen what that can do to the mind. And, you know, there's a reason they vent that out, the king notwithstanding. There's some stuff to look into there. You also know that they produce two different types of these, these. these long, basically girders. They look like giant kit cats, right? And they come in. Yeah. Yeah. Massive long, yeah. So they come in like six and eight foot things. And just the six foot one weighs north of 550 pounds. So that would last somebody. that like I said, this is tens of thousands of dollars worth of ingot right here, right?
So... So... Carrying that somewhere is obviously... But they don't make them any smaller, because that's just what the machinery is set up for, right? It's Jameson in the chat, everybody. It's like a penis, you see. It is like. I'm not sorry, but I am done. I'm going to stop. I'm done. I'm done. Just. E. Ow. Ow. Oh, not literally six to eight feet. It's that would be, uh, no, you don't want that. I mean, to be fair, the first one was not that. You said six feet, 450 pounds. I said, same. And then the second one was big job, though, 100% second was big. Okay, I got you.
So just to clarify. I'm going to mute myself. No, I'm with you. I'm with you. Okay. Okay. Can. Can we do something fun? I want to cut back to Kimere and Jesse. And I want to have a slight of hand roll off with you. Oh, okay. Yeah. Can I add something to this to this mix? Please. Dude, do whatever you want. I would like to, as we're playing cards, I would like to cast a minor illusion on the cards. So that. But I have not every single hand. I think Camira wants to lose, you know, to make it look like they're playing a game. But he does want to, he does want to win.
And he wants to show Jesse that he's winning. So. So I will say there's a visual component to this. So it's, it's, it's, so you're going to have to almost do one of those. Hey, look over there. You know what I mean? So it's not audible, but it is visual. So there'd be like sparkles or something. So yeah. Oh, gotcha. Yeah, yeah. Let's do this. Do me a favor. Give me. Give me a deception check. Okay. Just to get him to look at something else real quick. Gotcha. You rolled a two. and a two on your D8 expertise die and you still got a 12. It's a one thing I can do. Yeah, so it buys you a second, right?
It's like, oh, shit, did you drop an ace or something? He's like, what? And boom. Give me a slight a hand. That one's not so good. Yeah, that one's really not. Do it with advantage because of minor illusion. Holy shit. Well, you rolled a three and a four, so that's a two. Yep. Well, let's see what else I have in my bag of tricks. I mean, your saving grace here is that he is totally expecting you both to be cheating. So it's like, yeah, yeah, it's fine. It's like, ah, you. He only rolled a 10. So it's, I, this is, okay. This isn't even for money. This is more just, it's like you guys telling jokes to each other, right?
It's like, oh, have you seen this? Like that type of thing. So it's not, this is more just screwing around. But while you're playing, little voice in your ear is going to start up. And he's going to call you by your name, like your first name, which is not, you know, chimera. You do realize you're on the clock, right? I'm getting to that. And it just, you... You just feel... You just feel... Like you can see him sink back into the shed, and just go away. Like, not even watching. Just like, all right. Just like, whoop. And you kind of feel his presence go away.
But yeah. I think like, chimera relaxes a little bit, but not much. But yeah, and this whole time he's like talking Jesse up. He's like talking about, you know, how great it is to be. your own boss how amazing it is to be able to work for yourself and have that kind of independence um yeah and and just and he's just trying to win give me one more slide of hand okay okay Better. Eight. Oh, God. Yeah, no. 8 to 22. I think eventually you're just going to be like, fuck, this, like, do you only cheat a card? Is that what you guys do predominantly? Right. Camero's like, well, you're, like, you're sharp. and that's incredible.
You don't need a lot of tricks or anything like that. You already have like the baseline, you know. A guy like you could, you could take something incredible and, I don't know. You know what? No, forget it. I don't think you'd be interested. Incredible at cards, though. G.G. Game, respect, game. So, Jesse being a little dumb. Impetuous, let's call him impetuous. Cowboy chat, we'll call him. Um, ha ha ha. What are you talking about? Hmm? Oh, really? Really? You've already got the skills that you need in life. You don't need anything else. You are... You are set. Really, really good.
You know, there's always... There's always a way to build on that, you know, but... I don't think you need it. So, uh, he wrote an 8 for Insight. So he's ready to go buy you some am. on gift cards. So. He's. No, no, no. No, no. Come on. Come on out with it. Come on. What we talking about here? And come out is going to kind of like look around. He's going to put on a show, right? And he's going to like, there's no one else in the room but then. But he's going to like look over his shoulder. It's like he's making a show. And he leans in. and he says The thing the things that I can do, I mean, you saw, right?
When we were fighting the king, that kind of stuff. That's all stuff that's all stuff that has been given to me. To help me be better at who I am. already. It's power like that, that in the right hands of the right person... Well, if you wanted to win it cards every single time, that's something you could do. And you just lose it cards? To you? Apparently I do. But... things that you could do. See, that power, it's all about your potential. You know, I can light things on fire and make cards. I show him minor illusion to. I show him exactly what I've done, you know, like, show him how I've won anything in this game.
That's stuff, you know, that's what I can do. But these powers, this is based off. of what you can do, what you're good at, what you're amazing at. So, and he's gonna look around just, okay, it's just us. It's just us, it's just us boys. Like, we're just talking. So, uh, I'm gonna tell you, it's pretty embarrassing. Not being able to shoot a four-foot wide dwarf. And you're, you're hurling, fire at him and uh... we... How would someone go about getting some of that? It's actually a lot easier than you think. All you really got to do, well first you got to do is want it.
And the second thing you got to do is just sign your name. name. That's it. Do you give me a persuasion check, please? Hmm. Oh, come on. 19. Let's go! Okay. Okay. You think I'm some kind of idiot? Yeah, I could sign my name. Come here Camera panics for a second. This has been Fumbling and like now he has it, now he has it, you know? Mm-hmm. He's like, okay. Um, he's gonna... I don't know how this works, Jason, so I'm just making this up. So you just let me know... The contract literally appears in your hand in flame. Like it... Like, like, like, we're talking Faustian here.
Just... It couldn't be more obvious. You don't have to summon anybody. You... You got a line open. All you got to do, it's like, all right. Real robot devil shit. Like, it's right there. Could not write that any better. You've read my exact mind. The classics are classics for a reason. Yeah, so I make this contract appear and I hand him a pen and say, take what you want. Take what's yours. I never look back. The one thing. So as you roll out this contract, you're going to very quickly like, just kind of like stab his finger. Just really really quickly. Because she needs some blood on this.
You know. That tracks. And just like, oh, just like formality. Don't worry about it. You know. And he'd like take a quill or whatever and write his name out. kind of like, suck on the end of his finger. It's like, now. And. I need you to make a wisdom saving throw, please. Now, hold on. This is going to be a very different scene depending on if you roll lower high. Okay. I don't know what that means, but I am ready for it. Okay. Okay, you rolled a two for a total of ten. He, he, you know, signs on the dotted line and And instantly, you're going to feel Colgoth, like, reach out.
And he's going to start to kind of glow. You know, you recognize this. It's like, oh, shit, here, here it, here it goes. Like, he's handing off the power and everything. And then everything's just going to jump forward for a second. And the same knife you use to kind of. of prick his finger is coated in blood and his throat is slit, and he is on the ground bleeding. And you regain your senses just in time to see the light fade from his eyes. And you're going to feel his soul slip into your body. And I want you to do me a favor and give yourself 2000 XP.
No, I don't want it. And I think that's a good time for us to stop for the night. Oh! Oh my God! Just as you watch the light in his eyes, you're going to hear Colgoth, Never leave me waiting again. Oh. Oh, my God. Hey, guys, do we still like Colgoth? Cause, oh. Okay. I'm... Okay. I never like to take control away from... from a player. I just want to make sure we're cool. I just like it's a... It's a... Fuck. That was... That was very... very... very... very... very fucked up, fuck you, but that was very cool.
