What Happens

The party returns to Esterholt in their newly built Gearheart vehicle, a forge-core-powered mechanical transport created by Ruby with Dorgar assistance. On the journey, they encounter Cliff, an injured hunter in the snow who they rescue and offer passage to town. Upon approaching Esterholt's gates at dusk, Cliff transforms into a werewolf and viciously attacks Chimera. The party fights off the creature, which flees into the darkness. During the attack, Chimera's patron Kolgoth manifests physically to protect him, causing disturbing physical changes to Chimera's appearance that may be temporary.

Hey, everybody. Jasper here. Welcome back to Frostborn, arc six of Dungeons and Randomness. First, very big news. Dungeons and randomness is opening up the chocolate factory door for a casting call. From now through December 31st, 2021, 2025. All the details are on our Discord, and a link is in our episode description. There's even a short major announcement about it in the main feed. So scroll on down to take a listen. We want you to be part of the DNR crew. Give us a shout and shoot your shot. Next, reminder that there's a full recap of episodes 1 through 20 in our feed, the perfect place to start, catch up, or just get reminded about everything our group's been up to.

So scroll down in the feed right after episode 20, and you'll find it. Share it with a friend and help us spread the word about DNR. Also good news. Jamison Alcorn, also known as Logren, and his friends over at Very Big Comics, have fully funded his story lobster on Kickstarter in just the first few hours. But he and the folks at very big comics aren't done. The first chapter's funded, but the more we pitch in, the deeper the claws go and the more story we get. Just a couple of weeks more to go in the Kickstarter. So check things out during November 2025 to help out.

Lobster is what happens when a main lobsterman is blessed with superpowers by the Lord of Lobsters. Pretty normal stuff if he asked me. It's part superhero epic, part small town mystery, and part anti-capitalist seafood screed. Think X-Men if instead everything were lobster-focused with a heartfelt message about capitalism at the core, and not really X-Men at all. Anyway, it's warm, it's strange, and ever so, Jameson. We've already backed it, and we think you should, too. Find Lobster on Kickstarter or in our episode description. It's already funded baseline, so it's a no-brainer, but there are some amazing stretch goals that give us more story.

Also, a reminder that D&R uses Level Up Advance 5th edition from E&Public, as our gaming system. It takes D&5E and superpowers everything for an epic story-filled world like Theria. Code D-A-N-D-R gets you a discount. All right, enough of that. If you're new here, our little crew is on a long-haul mission to reclaim the Dwarven Stone-Sunder Mountain, our leader, Lagerens ancestral home. And, well, spoiler, it's also a few other people's ancestral home, but we'll cross that bridge when we get to it. and we will definitely get to it. To get there, however, we're crisscrossing this frozen continent collecting the magical and mechanical ingredients needed for a plan that is equal parts brilliant, and I can't believe this is what we're doing.

Most recently, we trekked into the mountains to meet the Durgar, elusive aggressively precise subterranean dwarves who already hold a grudge against the stone sunders. Great for us, terrible for conflict resolution overall. Inside their stronghold, things went sideways fast. Did I mention we killed their king? It was a misunderstanding. No big deal. One of our allies, Austin vanished. And by vanished, I mean, we murdered him and disposed of the evidence. Which is exactly as stressful and way more complicated than it sounds. Jesse, our other guide and Austin, brother, low-key spiraled, convinced something awful happened, correct, and that no one was telling him the truth.

Also correct. Chimera lied so smoothly he should get a pay raise. Then the new queen arrived. Beliria, Ion. a towering scarred military legend who radiates, I will overthrow a government before breakfast. Somehow, Lagerin negotiated four months of patience before she decides to storm stones under the loud way. While all this was going down, Ruby went full engineering chaos goblin, locking herself in a workroom, pulling Dorgar engineers into her orbit and helping invent the Gearheart, a forge-core-powered metal beast that absolutely should not exist, and also that they should not exist, They can drive.

At least for me, it's like a Volkswagen bus and the Hirchimer Battle Jitney from 1999's Mystery Men had a baby. I'm mostly alone on this, but I'll keep making the case. Anyway, after completing her week-long hyperfocus bender, she collapsed and slept for roughly 36 hours like a good little ADHD year. So now we're finally leaving the mountain. One ally missing forever. At least two allies traumatized. An untested vehicle made of hubris and uranium-ish. Oh, anyway. And a four-month deadline to topple a kingdom without making a scene. Perfectly normal adventuring pace.

Today, we make our way back into the frozen mountains of Alara, headed towards Esther Holt. Let me just put it this way. Ruby's still learning how to drive the gear heart. It's brand new, what? And more importantly, the group invents hitchhiking. All yours, Jason Massey. Let's do that thing where we go around the table. Jason, I'm the dungeon master going around the table. Starting with Jasper. Hey, him. I play Ruby Pedigrew, the half-org, Gearslinger adept. And Jameson. Hey, I'm Jameson. I play Logren Kragborn. He's the Dwarven Marshall. And Susan. Hey, I'm Susan.

My pronouns are she-her, and I will be playing Nythera Rialith, the Elven Rogue. And last and certainly not least, Ian. Hello, I'm Ian, and my pronouns are he, him, any, and I'm playing chimera, the Teafling Warlock. Guys, it's time to leave the Black Rock Mountains. And we have some. We just got here. No. This is in-game. The most time you've spent in a single place. We only murdered one person. That we know of. The most time in the least murder. That is something. Gold stars, everybody. Are we counting the king? Because like... Oh, it's true. Two murders. No. Brack.

Is that on our hands? Really? We didn't do the final blow. That's true. We didn't even get in trouble for it. So... Only there was a term for that. So... So we have new transportation. And I have thought, this is what my work week is dedicated to. is brewing up mechanics for this new form of transportation. We all sat and made. We have vision boards of just different, you know, vehicles, the, the, the, the, the, the, makeo from Mass Effect and the Warthog from Halo and all these, like, somewhere in there. I'm going to make a CAD drawing somehow. I'm going to learn CAD.

And we're just going to make a 3D render of it and, yeah. Maybe Blender. Start with Blender. Yeah. So it's a donut. It's a big donut. Yeah. That's it. There you go. And everyone climbs in the middle and then you roll down. And that gives you back to astrohold. So we're getting ready to take off here. Who's driving this? It's got to be Ruby, right? Yeah. Yeah. In my mind, that was always kind of the case, only because she would have built it around her number one, aesthetic. and her knowledge of how to do things. And she would have not been thinking like, oh, this would be fun for different people to do.

She would be like, this is where I sit to do the thing because they'll never understand how this works. Or maybe she could train somebody, but I don't think she would have been thinking of that. I feel like it has, it's like the machine equivalent of there's a system to it, I swear. Like nobody would be able to sit down and figure out how to operate this thing. Yeah. Without a manual. I mean, I feel over time, I'm sure it's, it could be done, but kind of like, learning. how to do a stick shift when you've only ever driven automatic. It's like, I know how it goes.

I in my head, but I can't make my muscles do it. But yeah, this would be a Ruby thing, probably at least the beginning, I imagine. I, you know what, halfway through that description, I got on board. I was like, well, I mean, people can learn to try and then you mentioned stick shift and I'm like, oh yeah, I tried learning that in my 30s and I didn't click, couldn't do it. It was really embarrassing because someone had let us borrow a car. We took it to the mechanic and me and Brie got in the car. I'm like, well, I guess I'll drive this home. I couldn't get it out of getting.

And eventually we had to ask the mechanic for a lift home. And it was the least like a man I've ever felt in my life. That's not true. But it was up there. I can't do it. I've tried. I took lessons and I couldn't do it. And I can't do it. And it's in my head. I can understand it. And I could, I can try to. I can. I can try to to draw out why it works the operation that's the thing like I couldn't do it it yeah no anyway so yes this is ruby centric but that doesn't mean it's ruby exclusive by any means but I even imagine like the seat was placed in the perfect distance for ruby so it would be hard for logger and nerd it would be a weird oh thing yeah it'd have to be like blocks yeah yeah right The way I imagine it.

The way is are all off. I get mad every time. I imagine that there's sort of a, it's, I mean, we think, we're thinking of like a car, right? Where it's like there's a passenger seat and there's right. I feel like Ruby would would have made the driver seat right in the middle. There'd be two seats behind that and then there'd be a seat in the back for log room to look over everything and make sure. So he could say like, turn left, turn right. Watch out for that. It's more. It really, you know, like. Yeah, yeah. Definitely. And, you know, if we play our cards right, it's sort of like that back seat is, is the, is the turret in the Millennium Falcon kind of a thing.

I was just thinking that and I was going to ask because I mean, we didn't talk about it last time I don't think, but are there guns on the side of this thing that we could get? I don't know that we're there yet, but I will say this. Ruby has thought a lot about how this can be. This is a Mark one. She's she probably put in some. clips and holes and like, ooh, this will be good later kind of a thing. Like, she'll know how to, like, if we needed to upgrade something, she'd be like, oh, yeah, I already thought of that. I just didn't have the stuff to do it.

Here's a holistic question. Is there like a hatch on the top? Is this like a tank situation? Yeah, how do we get into this? I think it's more like a Volkswagen bus. The only reason I might ask is if you were thinking of where Logrin is sitting and knowing he has a rifle, Not necessarily it has a built-in gun that he could stand up and shoot from like. Oh, yeah. I picture blasts on the side of the window, open that door and just p-p-p-p-poh. Do you remember the remake of Dawn of the Dead where they modify that bus and they like, that's it? But I picture two very large gull wing doors.

Oh, yeah. Yeah. We're going to have to figure this out because we're not the different cars. We're going to build the homer is what we're going to do. One thing we do, what we do know is that this thing is powered by the forge core that the Dorgar basically gave us. And this is, I imagine somewhere in the rear, right, kind of like the engine in the back, sort of pushing everything forward. And so she had to accommodate for seats around that and probably warms things up a bit. And a lot of don't touch that or it may kill you. But not a lot of things to encompass it or like to close it up.

It's like, why don't you put a door on it? Just don't touch it. It'll kill you if you do it. Why would you touch it if it's going to kill you? Anyway, let's move on. So I imagine this is one of those vehicles that was very much purpose built. And it's a miracle that it works as well as it does. It was not built for comfort. This is not a road. trip vehicle even though it's going to be used as a road trip vehicle. So every couple of hours, you probably need to step out of it and stretch because it feels like your bones are being shaken and and like you're, it's got to be, it can't be kind to butts.

Because I don't think you have plush leather seating yet. We aren't there yet, right? So it's like, okay, uh, it's, feels like sitting on a church pew for like two hours, right? I feel like we made the rounds in the door garb being like, you guys have any cushions at all, just one cushion. Just take it over butts. Why do you have such squishy butts? What's wrong with your butts? I feel like every time we would stop every once in a way because Ruby would want to, you know, adjust something or be, now that it's actually out in the wild, it's like, Like, oh, no, no, no.

That's going to pull it to the left. I got to stop for a minute. Just move some things around, fix some things. Upgrades constantly. Just like the rest of her stuff. We also, I think we're, we might be traveling with a big old mentor buddy too, right? Is that happening? Oh. Well, he went. He's going back to his people. Yeah. Got it. He's very much going back to his people. He's had kind of enough of this. This was supposed to be, hey, can we talk to you? And it's become like 11 days in captivity, basically. This sucks. Obviously, we already discussed that Austin's on his own journey.

Can I get? Because there's no driving skill in D&D. I need an engineering because I imagine there's lots of little tweaks, like you said, as you, you know, so. Yeah, I think right now. that'll do All right Do do Do do do Engineering Okay Holy shit 24 So So It really is just tweaks Right It handles pretty well It's not going to corner Really You know It is meant for transportation It's kind of boss-like, mini-boss-like. And it really grips things well. You can't go down steep cliffs. You're trying to avoid ice, but like you're kind of serpentineing down this mountain, and you're doing really well.

Like, you're kind of surprised that it's doing this well. Every couple of hours, you guys get out, you stretch. And you, you know, you... I would imagine partway through the day, maybe you get a little campfire going. You know, but... I'm going to say. What do we got? It's a good three, three and a half days back to Estherhold by foot. You guys are traveling by... Monctrosity. Right. Yeah. So with that, I'm going to say you're able to push this thing to like 10 miles an hour here and there, which doesn't sound like a lot, but down a mountain. With all four of you in it, that's better than a horse and carriage like would do.

Damn straight. Can I get a travel die please? Who's going to do it? Susan, sorry. There. Let's just, I'll call on a yeah. Okay. I just had to pick somebody. I wasn't trying to single anybody out. That's fine. D100, right? Yep. It's been a minute. We've been in towns far too long. Yeah. 56. So we did discuss it, and it is the 17th of the month of Doolin. Uh, we did, we did spend a lot of time in the mountains. I did not see that coming. But a murder investigation will, will do that, and then building a once-in-a-lifetime piece of tech. And a life, once-in-a-lifetime alliances.

Yep. Mm-hmm. Telling you. And only a little murder. It's not a big deal. Yeah. Let's get comfy. This is a weird way to start things out. You're welcome. You're about a day and a half outside of Esther hole. Right? And there is a, there's a river that you're getting ready to kind of cross over. It's very much frozen. And you are on the side of the river with the mountains. You haven't quite crossed over yet. And you're a little worried about the weight of this thing, especially there's a, there's a bar of Adamantine under, you know, under the carriage. Like it, you built it to insert one bar or something like that right now.

And that adds another like seven, eight hundred pounds. So you're kind of, you know, it's like, well, that's a really frivolous. We could go around, but that's a thing you guys are going to have to discuss. While you're stopped, something's going to start like, just kind of hitting your windshield. And it's just like little red blops, like pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop. And then it's going to start to kind of come down like it's raining. It looks like it's raining blood. Ooh. Which is new? So Ruby's already slowing this thing down because they're trying to figure out.

And also helping getting people to help navigate. Like, should we try this? Should we not try that? I don't even know. I feel like we've got a lot of stability with this weight, but it might not get us over that. We could find a bit. And she's just kind of whatever, like, thinking of 30 things at once. And then blood starts coming out of the sky. First thing she would do is she would get real close to that, that windshield type area. I don't know if it's a windshield exactly, but maybe like a we didn't go over it, but it can't just be steal, right? Yeah, but I mean, whatever, whatever she can look through it can't be steal.

She'd get real close to it. And you would think she's probably going to mention the blood coming out of the sky. But she's going to say, I got to figure out some way to make it be that this like gets cleaned off as you drive. That's going to be my next. That's going to be Mark 2, number one. Um, where's the blood coming from? That's, I mean, blood coming out of the sky's your domain, Missy. I pop the door open. Was there a part of you that's like, oh, it's coming from the car? Yeah. Yeah. Is this a feature? Just transmission fluid. It's fine. It's fine. Everything's good.

Did we hit something? Yeah. So Ruby, but she's so she has stopped this, right? So it's like, oh, hail. Well, the good news is you have a pretty decent vantage point. You're probably like, you know, six, seven hundred feet above sea levels. So you can kind of see the valley that Esther Holt lies in. And it doesn't... Like, this looks kind of localized a little bit. But it's a freak occurrence. And it's going to... It's going to continue to ring like this for about 10 minutes. Can I get a perception roll from everybody, please? Nobody get out of the car. I'm on you.

It's not getting out of the car. That was almost a 19. Kimer's got a lot on his mind. It's fun. It's fun. It's fun. Oh. Damn. Okay. Loggerne came to play. So, 8 for Kymyra. 14 for Ruby, 14 for Nithera, and 19 for Logron. Obviously, blood is the center, you know, taken center stage here. But you are going to notice that there's some thunder, there's some lightning. It's just, but it looks kind of low. And it does look like it's traveling in the direction. It's traveling east. Like you could see the storm clouds and stuff, so you can kind of see it go over Esther Holt and it's heading over that way.

You're going to see a hell of a lot of lightning and thunder, you know, miles and miles away in the distance. And Logrin's just going to be able to make out. Like, we're talking, like, if you're in the middle of life, like, if you're in the middle of a field, like tornado watching, that kind of thing. And you're looking at stuff and you can kind of see in miles in every direction. There is this discharge of energy, almost like an explosion, just a hole. And it's going to, it's going to be in the mountains to the north. Looks like it's in the blistering peaks.

But just this, this weird, just like, and you're not going to hear anything for a couple of moments. Then you're going to hear like something. broke the sound barrier, just a whole. And then that thunder and lightning's going to stop. Loggering. Okay, so before I say anything, I want to make another check. Can I make a religion check? Because he knows, first of all, that feels kind of biblical, but also he knows that's a knows. Or some more up in the blistering peaks, right? So, I mean, that's common knowledge, isn't it? Or is that not common knowledge? Yeah.

Like, it's a, it's like a gathering place. Like, you supposedly can go summon them. But they don't live there all the time. Right, but it's like a Mount Olympus type deal, right? Like, everybody looks at the mountain that says there. So, okay. So if you really want to talk to them, good luck, get up there, you know. Yeah. Don't. But go ahead. That's 12. I mean, it's been a century of them being there, like that communication. So yeah, no, this is going to be a thing where it's like, yeah, that's where you're supposed to be able to summon them and talk to the gods and everything, but it's an incredibly dangerous place to get to.

They could have set it up in, I don't know, a city, but they probably did that on purpose because it's like, hey, if you really need us, like, get climbing. So it seems like it probably connected. So after the few moments of just, I imagine, sort of confused, quiet, maybe a little bit of worry in this vehicle. Loggeron will just go. Let's just ignore that. Didn't happen. Don't worry about it. Done. Yeah, not our problem. Are you kidding me? It's just... I'm gonna be the one washing this thing. Number one. We're gonna pay somebody. We have a brick of Adamantine.

The size of you. I'm not gonna washing this car. We're gonna bring a guy with this. We can wash the car. I have an idea about that, about raising some funds. I think we could all kind of wash this car together, you know? And maybe in some scantily glad outfits. We can charge money for it. James is getting the artists on this right away. Even do a calendar, I think. That might be fun. Let's put up in that. I like that. Ruby would be pretty frustrated because this is not not cool. But she would, she'd end up following along with whatever log run. And if Lagerman says ignore it, and she'd try to ignore it.

On the other hand, coming down out of the mountain with a car covered in blood is kind of cool. That is pretty badass, actually. I do. Very mad max. And I know we have, I know we have all different ideas of what this thing looks like. But I do feel like with Ruby's aesthetic, I think she would have probably built it with. There's like leather straps holding on things. It probably has this green patent. And it'll feel like it's like Ruby Mobile a little bit. Yeah, with satchels and leather boxes and stuff connected to it. So she's pretty pissed that this thing is getting beat up already.

With blood. Out of the sky. Well, I need another travel dive from someone. Well, I got his blood storms. That's fair. Ian, you want to take a swing? Yeah, I will. What's it? It's probably going to be a little anticlimactic after that. Like, it might be wolves. I don't know. But like. Yes, D100. D100. All right. Watch he rolls of 56. Oh, my God. Oh, 57. Wow. Please let a big blood rain again. Oh, please let me be blood. Let me be related. Yeah, it's got to be it. No, the blood. If you have blood on a vehicle or on yourselves, it magically is cleaned by a rainstorm. Or in the rare chance that it's rolled right after 56, the thing that was in the storm emerged.

You ignored it and now it's mad. The whole table becomes 57 and now it's angry. Oh, that I do. That was the universe's check engine light. I do lean out a little bit and press to digitate some of the blood off and I go, there, you see, Ruby? I got really good at this actually. Thank you. One point cube. Thank you. It does make me feel better. Thank you. It's probably pretty loud in there too. There's a lot of like, it's like a go card. You know, like, blah, ah, oh, yeah. Thank you. I pressed to digitate Ruby. Yeah. Like you're written in. clean like you would when you scrape through the dust like wash on a car yeah yeah blood starts dripping through in certain spots it looks cool it looks super cool is that what you said yeah it's awesome I didn't pick up on that the first time so many t-shirts to make all right so I swear to God, this never happens.

This, so they are related. They had, they, but like, I feel like this is becoming a catchphrase, but when we made these tables, that would happen. So, okay, what fresh hell. We're gonna continue the story. is what we're going to do. So I would say, ignore that was discussed, right? And you're like, okay, let's clean this. Let's clean this off. And at least the windshield and stuff, so we can look around. And you're going to notice that the blood on the ground, like it's, it's kind of made the snow kind of slushy. And that's because the blood was warm. And all this is just very, very odd.

And it's got a smell to it. Like it's, it's very like, it's very, that that iron taste in the back of your mouth. You can taste it in the air. It's like that petrachore scent of like, hey, it just rained. But also, donate. It rained. You know, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It's like. Like, you can, it's just in the back of your, your nasal passages, like, you know. And, um, you're going to see something fire off in the city of Estherholt. Looks like some kind of flare. Just a... That's it. So Ruby's just going to point as she's going forward, slowing down just a little bit.

You want us to ignore that one, too? Can I roll religion? Maybe they did it for God. I don't know. Well, I hear down south they shoot at storms to get them to go away. I don't know if that's maybe an ester-hold thing too. It is a religion thing. They're just, yeah. Now, I mean, is it like a universally known thing that a flare is like a signal for help? Is that a common thing? I mean, every city's got its own communication and it's, I, I, a flare is universally like something's up. And it could be. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah. It could be. Oh, yeah. We didn't we?

No, we had a flare early on when the, um, The guy who stole the baby. Yeah. So it's kind of a universal signal for like, hey, over here. Like it could be a supply drop or like, hey, I, I like, you know, someone's lost and they find, you know, it's not celebratory usually and it's not. You know, there's a wide variety of things, but troubles definitely in there somewhere. right. So yeah. That's where we're going anyway. So. I don't like it. Ruby's going to lean like over her shoulder looking at chimera. You know who it is, right? You know what this is all about.

It's her. The hag. Right. Yes. Oh, she might be causing trouble. Maybe they, maybe they took care of her. Just. Just. hit her with your car on the way into esterhol. Anyway, what's that? Yeah. All I know is that the kids are in Estherhol, so we can't ignore it. All right. All right. Well, I'm going to punch it. Burr-v-v-v-v-v-v-v-v-v-v-v-d. GON-G-G-K-K-K-K-G-G-G- Yeah, yeah. It couldn't be signaling. It would have to be, like, an individual or something, but it's weird because you don't put up a flare in a city. You put up a flare when you can't be found, like, out in the wilderness or something, when it's hard to find you, but it's pretty easy to find people in a city.

I worry this. Remember, this place is about to go up like a powder keg anyway. There's too many people not liking each other. So that's what I was thinking. It might be signaling some kind of skirmish or something between those paladin people. We should be careful going into town. I don't even know where to park something like this. They got a spot off where they're where the carts are. It's fine. They got a valet. I bet you was chat. I'm sure there's nothing to worry about. The blood of the flare. Just out. Yes. How much? Yeah. Because you've left him alone for two weeks, and that's a long time for that specific young man.

Hey, look, on the bright side, it's probably the longest he's gone in a month without getting knocked on his ass. Or yelled at. We don't know what he got into. That's true. I know. I know. I know. Yeah. I have left. Do you know? Okay. My head canon is stuff like this has been happening, but you guys were just in the mountain and didn't know about it. So, you know, like. All right. It is the 19th, and you guys are within striking distance of Esther Holt. Jameson. Give me a travel die, please. Don't make it 58. That'd be hilarious to it. That would be hilarious. I don't want it to be 58.

I could do 55. That would be funny. Whoa, 91. Holy shit. Okay. All right. Kind of changed it up here. We had a vibe going. And listen, I'm so sorry. We all brought themed things to the party and then you came like, wait, let's find out what 91 is. 991 is just is just blood. There's no objective. There's no qualifiers, just blood. There's no qualifiers. Just blood. You've been kind of on the lookout. I'd say your nerves are a little afraid ever since the blood rain. And you know something's up in Estrehold. There haven't been any more flares. That was just yesterday.

And there haven't been, there haven't been any more freak occurrences like that, but there's just a vibe. You know? It's... You ever have a pet or a child? And you just realize they've been quiet for a real long time. Where are they? And you know, like it comes over you. It's like instinctively, it's like they're in the trash can or the dog. You did something. So you just, you know, like you're just kind of like you feel, you know. So you've had that. for the last 24 hours, just like hiking along with this thing. And I need a dexterity saving throw from you, Ruby.

Do do, do, do, do, do. Oh. Oh. Shit. Oh, wow. Wow. You have an expertise die on your dexterity saving thres? I have an expertise die. I can use once per day. and it's a new day. So I put it on that. Son of a bitch. Very nice. Okay. So you're getting to the point where you're, it's been a few days. Like you're pretty adept with this. This vehicle here. Gearheart, wasn't it? She's calling it the Gear Heart. Okay. So you're getting to the point where you're kind of getting a sense of like, okay, it can tackle this terrain. It's having trouble with this. I can, you know, every once in a while, I got to clean this windshield.

But, you know, hey. And you're stopping twice a day. The first time is probably for an hour to let this battery kind of like rest and recharge. It's never run out on you yet. But you're a little worried about pushing it too far. You know, like getting it to the point where it drains or, you know, you don't want to get stranded because you can't just like push it. So yeah. There is a blistering snowstorm. Visibilities in the shitter, right? Like you can probably see. Headlights are probably the next thing, right? Yeah. You are narrowly going to miss someone bundled up in a coat like hiking, and you're going to come out of like nowhere.

They're looking around, probably trying to figure out what is that sound? I have never heard that. And you narrowly miss clipping them and making them rule over the hood of this thing. And they're going to like dive out of the way. And yeah, I, I, yeah, it's, it's yeah. I don't know how Ruby would react to that. It's a hag. God damn it. Sorry. By the way, since she said something about the hag, she said something about the hag. She's been putting hag repellent on. I know we have some. Whether anybody else is doing it or not, she's just like always... What is that's not like in the cabin?

I don't know what I... It's a little, petul-like. It is definitely a little bit. Really herbaceous. Yeah. And so if she's... So if she realized that they almost hit somebody in it, she wouldn't react too poorly. Like this would not be like a flip-the-car type of. of a moment. But I think she would, you know, she would jerk it a bit and it sort of skid it slightly. And she'd probably slam on whatever breaks they have. Do you see that? No. My face is in the back of your head. See, I think that's anything. Brumie, what's going on? There's somebody out there. We almost just ran right over him.

Is it the... It's got to be her. Hey, hey. Like, she just. You open the door? No, no, from inside. Just from inside a little bit. Somehow we thought to have the roll down windows that you have. Yeah, right. Just whatever like, you, you okay? Actually, tell you what, I would love for there to be a hatch at the top. It's not the way in, but there is a hatch on the top of this thing. Because you got to for, for, for if we ever needed to, you know, Someone's going to do a super cut of everything we just say this vehicle has and then drawn an artist conception. It's going to be the most fucking idiotic thing.

Please. Well, the top also has that Volkswagen bus, the the railing around it so you can put all your baggage up there and strap it down and it's around it. I had an 84 Thunderbird, which was a boat. And it had what must have been considered future interior. All of the dash was electronic and lit up. And the speedometer was, it's really cool looking. And it didn't work all that well because I got it in 20005 or something. So yeah. But I picture all of the, just like a soft blue glow of the interior like, you know, Yeah. So this person is going to be on the ground.

And you can kind of see like the big puffs of of a soft pillowy snow just kind of like billowing everywhere. It's almost like a strobe effect where it'll be, oh, I can see him. Oh, he's gone. I can see him. Oh, he's gone. I can see it because the divisively is so bad. And it looks like this person's wearing, It looks to be a man, wearing big, bulky coats and everything, which makes sense. But their coat is covered in white, whether it's naturally just white fur, or absolutely layered in snow, except for a large chunk out of their shoulder and back, which is coated in blood.

And they're trying to get up, but it's very... They're having a lot of trouble. Ruby's just going to look back at Logrin. It's one of the things with Logger goes, what? There's a person out there. I think they're hurt. We almost hit them. Oh, I don't know. What are we got for healing potions? Actually, I don't know. I'm sure. Everybody starts with rifling through their bags, right? Is this one of those things where you jump out in front of a moving cart? Hoping to get a... I've seen that... Eagles have just been invented. I don't think we've... I don't think we've...

They did that with carts too. I know this scam. Logger and we'll find a... a basic health potion in his bag and be like, all right, open up the hatch there, and he'll hop out. So I picture big, satisfying, like, pull lever, like, and you push this open and it, like, you have to kind of like push against the, the wind in the snow and it's, it's really powdery, so it's kind of like coming up in the vehicle to, oh, close that when you, you know, um, do you close it or just leave it open? I don't know. Close it. Yeah. He gets to one step away, turns back, close it, and then, yeah.

I would do the exact same thing. Yeah. So, this person's like maybe 15 feet away from the car, and they're going to look back at you. Like, oh, my God, you're here to kill me. Like, that's it. He's fully armored. So. Right. Also, like, who are you? What is that thing? Like, yeah. There's a lot. I've come from hell. No, like, if this guy turns and looks at him, and logger, and will just kind of stand there and be like, what got into you? And it just, you know, he's on the ground in the middle of the snowstorm, bleeding profusely. And it just, like, Like, you know, it's, you, you almost hit me.

That's not what happened to your shoulder. What did that? No, I, I'm coming from Esther Holt. I was, oh, I was out hunting. And are you kind of like dangling this potion in your hand? No, you're just going to him. No, absolutely not. Okay, cool. Do you want to offer him a fucking hand up or anything? Or just like, you know, this is. He's in the middle of telling me a story. I want to hear it first. Oh, k-joke-joke. I want to interrupt him. Yeah. That would be rude. I was out hunting. I was only, I don't know, a mile or two outside the city and something got to me in the dark gods.

And he's gonna react. Like, it's burning him almost. Like it's, you know, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it, it took a chunk out, you know, whatever it was. And you guys have run into fucking whirons, wyverins, with evens. And all three of those. You know there's stuff in this particular valley that it's like, oh, yeah, that is something. We didn't even get any trouble at night. I don't know what night critters are around here. Yeah. So when he like refocuses on his shoulder, loggerna, kind of like lean down and take a look, it looks pretty bad. Here. I got one of these.

You can pay me back later. And he'll give him the health potion. All right. So he's going to... Thank you. Oh! And he's going to, you know, choke this back. It's really cold. Very refreshing. I keep my cool. And you're... And you're standing close enough that you're standing close enough that you're You're going to hear flesh mending. Like, it's like, like, kind of a reverse squelch. I don't know. Bree, make it happen. But like, you're gonna, you know, you're gonna feel that. And he's, there's like a sigh of relief, like, oh, and he's on his knees in the snow, and he's just going to like fall back.

Like, oh. Oh, thank you. You. Yeah, so just out here by yourself, huh? No, no, no, no. I got split up from my party. We were going to sell some peltz and just make some quick money. It didn't really work out, though. There were four others in my, in my grove, and I got separated from them. hours and hours ago. So you just... It's like white out snow, right? Yeah. And it started about an hour ago. So like for him, it probably started a couple hours ago if the storm is heading that way. So he got caught out on this. He panicked and ran, got caught out in it, and then would probably have froze to death, if not blood out. out.

Unless you guys almost, you know. Just back over. I mean. So Logrin's got his little like whalebone sunglasses on with the slits in. So he can like look into the into the storm and he's kind of peering around a little bit. He goes, I don't know how they teach it down here. But where I'm from, if you get lost in a storm, you just stay put. It's... All right, look, and he's gonna, like, stand up. And dude's about, like, six feet tall, like, pretty, pretty average build and stuff like that. Nothing, nothing... Looks human. Look. Look, I don't know if this is just paranoia or blood loss, but I could swear something was tracking me.

It just felt... I don't know. Everything's fell off since that rainstorm the other day. Oh, the blood? You saw that? Yeah. Okay. We were a little worried. We imagined that. That's good to know, actually. No, we were... We were still outside the city, but... It's the damnedest thing I've ever seen. It was pretty weird. You might have I ask you a question. Sure, I got nothing to do. What the hell is that? And he's going to point over at your vehicle? Oh, yeah, we're working on it. We're not quite sure. Some sort of like a mobile, like an automated mobile thing. We're not quite sure what to call it yet.

I don't think that names ever. ever going to take off, but it's really cool. Look, you've already helped me a ton. If I give you a few gold, are you heading to Estherhold by any chance? How much gold? Hey folks, Jasper here. Sorry to interrupt everything. Listen, we want to connect with you. If you like what we do here, please consider joining our community on our Discord server. And if you want to even more, please think about joining the DNR at patreon.com slash d-a-n-d-r. There you'll get behind-the-scenes looks, bonus games, Patreon groups with Jason and Bree at higher tiers, and so much more.

There's even some big surprises coming down the path. Links to our Discord and Patreon in the show description. Now, just a couple of words from our sponsors, and then back to the show. I have 30 on me. That's about it. Yeah, that'll get you asterhole. Come on in. Again, just he was, it's like, okay, so now I'm not bleeding to death. There's still starvation and freezing. Oh, you know, just looking around. Oh, thank you. Again, I'm again. I'm not bleeding to death. I owe you my life. I don't know if you've heard the rumors, but there's a hag out here somewhere.

And we were warned to stay away from this part. Guy at the hotel told us not to. And... You think it was a hag that got you? No, no, no, no. I was just worried about her getting to me with all the... You know what I mean? If I couldn't go on anymore, if I were hiding at a cave, what if that's the hag cave? That's true, you do. I don't worry about that. All right, listen, watch your step getting in here. There's gears all up top that don't do anything, but they're decorative. And you're going to sit on this bench, but it's going to hurt your butt after like four minutes.

So you're going to have to shift around a lot. Ruby protests. If you're doing this while you're coming in, yeah. First of all, she's like, who the hell's that? No, they are not decorative. They actually serve a... She's just not going to fight. She's going to shut down. They're different. You have seven gears more than you need. They will have a purpose. Never mind. Forget it. They're a minute. The mirror leans into Ruby and just whispers. Male hack? Yeah. Oh, God. She's now she's panted. She's like a momentary panic. Like, maybe. I don't know. What's your name? Cliff.

Nice to meet everybody. I really appreciate you stopping. I mean, you did almost run me over. I'm sorry. Thank you for. This is we're getting the hang of it. But I probably couldn't see shit. It's fine. I still can't. In fact, we probably should stay here for just a little bit longer until this summer blows over. I'm worried about what else I might hit, including something that might topple us. So at this point, you guys are like, you know, seven or eight miles outside of Estherhold. You're within striking distance. And the guy's a little nervous. He's got himself worked up over this hag situation.

So like he'll sit there and... You guys ever see a hag? Like out, like a real one? Ruby would just drive harder and hope somebody else would answer. We're not stopping anymore. Yeah. Can't say. I'm going to say anything. La, la, la. How does this thing work? What makes it go? Ruby would have been answer that. She would not talk about the hag. It was just silence and he asked that she would, she would explain in whatever engineering gearhead type explanation. She'd go a little bit too far into explaining the forge core. and, you know, at a man tied, ademantine, like the whole, she started getting into a little bit more about the refinery process, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera, arcane energy, blah, blah, blah, and then she would end up just effectively telling him that it's back there and don't touch anything or it will probably kill you.

He was probably doing that thing where you like messing with your coach, to get the snow out of it and stuff like that. And then very much like, all right, like, just kind of cross the stuff. arms, put his hands in there, like, very much. Like, just try to take up less space. Yeah. I mean, she's not threatening him by any means. She's just off-handedly saying, oh, it would probably kill you if you touched anything. So just make sure you don't. Sure. You know, Loggren sitting next to him, and he's just kind of nudges him with his elbow. He goes, you forgot to give me your gold.

Oh, yeah. Sorry. Yeah. He's going to like peel. He's going to open up his coat to get down to, you know, and, and, like, he's going to hand you. You very much get the impression that's all of his money. Like, there you go. Yeah. So he takes it and he's like, you know, normally I wouldn't ask so much. But this thing doesn't run on peanuts, you know. He's afraid to ask what it runs on because he's worried that's going to take another half hour. Yeah. 100%. I think all of us just sit back and let Ruby go every time. I think it's going to be an ongoing thing. Anytime anybody asks about the car, we're all just going to sit back and let Ruby just pour them to tears.

But every once in a while, she'll go on and on and on and then she'll stop. This is a good time for a break. And then she'll have a little upgrade. She'll fix something else a little bit. You don't give her an idea. She's like, hang on. Actually, wait a minute. Right. I think after the gold is exchanged, though, and Ruby had talked about like what? How it's running. Nathira will, like, turn to him because I figured like they're in the middle bench, Kimmer and her, he'll turn to him and be like, so is that blood from the storm the other day, or did you get injured?

I was I was mauled by something. We were out hunting and something. Something attacked us. It was whispered quiet, and then all of a sudden, it was just on top of me. It felt like, I don't know, it felt like it was biting and clawing all at once. And it's the worst pain I've ever had in my life. And that was recently? Last night, I was I tried to patch it up the best I could. And I was walking, but I got turned around and then the storm came and it's, I tell you. This has been the worst day of my life. You said you came from Eserhold, right? Did you see the flare go up?

No. They shut off a flare? Mm-hmm. Yeah, do you know what it means? I was just about to ask you. Did it probably... Do you think it's because of the blood? Like a... religious all hands on deck thing. We don't know. So as you guys are driving, like, just like cut to the exterior of the thing, like bumping down the mountain, and just going to told you guys to ignore the blood. Wait, I just want to. So we just had a recent encounter with wear rats, and this guy was attacked by something in the middle night, and left him bloodied and attacked. I would be like, is he showing any symptoms of like where I mean, lichenthropy?

Check it out. Rat Canthope. Yeah. He doesn't look like fevered or anything like that. He just looks, you know, definitely like Logrum would have seen the dude was in extraordinary pain. And then after the healing thing, like it probably, okay, if we're talking meta, it didn't give all his his hit points back, but it definitely stopped the gaping wound from spurting blood into the back of his big thick jacket. So it's a week of bed rest after that, probably. Is this a, because this guy said he's from Asterold, right? Well, he was coming from Asterold, like, you know, that's where he's staying now.

Yeah. That's where he's staying now. Okay. So yeah, I ask him like, you know, if he's from there, like, does he live there? Is he a local there? No, I come from Fairbeg. Gotcha. Logren looks at Chimera when he says Fairbay. Absolutely nothing. And Logrin makes him mental note. Logrin will remember that. I literally see the text in my head every time. I want to know if this guy is lying though. Could I do an insight check? Give me an insight, please. On this guy? Do you? Insight. I mean, his name's Cliff, we found him on a mountain. Seems kind of sauce. It's a little bit.

Yeah, I don't know about that. Cliff. Cliff not a hag is my fullness. And, uh, 26. Oh my God. No, you. So I think the reed Kymir we get with a 26, it's pretty. Kymar is a decent judge of character. And he's really good at spot in a liar because he's just looking for all the traits Kymira has, basically. Take one to no one. Right. Exactly so. So you're getting the sense that this dude is just kind of a nobody in terms of like importance or anything like that. Broke trying to make some kind of money by doing something he knows how to do and it just isn't working out.

And now he just spent the rest of his paycheck on an Uber. So like, you know, it's a, you know, you're not getting, oh, I'm a liar. Like, just kind of getting, hey man, time's tough. I'm doing my best. Like that type of thing. Gotcha. Where are you guys from? I like none of you. We're ready for that question. Where do you think we're from? Okay. This is like probably the fifth time on this journey. He's asked you a very simple question. And every time. he either gets an autistic rant about the inner working of this car or uh you know who wants to know kind of thing or you know like it's just like man i i don't know I'm I'm on the bus I'm just asking you fucking are you like why is this a brick riddle look?

This is what being in a very loud lawnmower like go-kart will do to you like it will do to you. Like, it's just like, hey, no, welcome here. What are you here? Yeah. Sorry. Sorry. I'm a little on edge. Very much getting this. Man, you guys are fucking weird. I, uh, yeah. This is a, this is the great hand bus ride. Yeah. Yeah. I don't know. You look like you could be from Brightport. I'm from Briteport. I'm from Bratport. I'm actually from Brutport. Yeah. Nice one. Winner, winner. Chicken dinner. Yeah, we're not being cage. We're just making a game out of it. Yeah, I mean, if you've seen outside, there's not much to do it here.

And it's very loud and I'm coming. I spy, it's all white. So we played that game. There were no cows, so we couldn't do that one. There was red for a little bit. Yeah, actually, that was fun. Actually, I mean, I know we're actually, I know we're supposed to ignore it, but it broke things up. Punch pokey's been dead. Nothing. Yeah. So at this point, you guys are a mile outside of Hesterholt. Just kind of rolling along now. And Cliffs kind of dozing off every once in a while. He's like, I think the adrenaline's worn off a little bit. So it's like he's doing that thing where he's just kind of like slumped over or just trying to find a comfortable spot.

It's like sleeping on a plane, right? It's just like, oh, because it's just, it's like, oh, because it's, it's, it's seems like every time I get a window seat on a plane. The windows are always positioned in such a way where it's not window to seat. It's like partial window to see it's a weird thing. I don't know. But like very much that like he's trying to like like, like he's trying to fluff up his jacket a little bit. And he'll pass out and just try to like he'll probably snore too. He's a snore or that cliff. And you guys are closing in on the city.

And it is dusk. And it is the 20th of Doolin. Approaching these gates. You're not moving fast enough that they're firing, but you have a couple of ballistas trained on you. And there are guards out front with the gates closed. It's like, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, just like flagging you down. Yeah, Ruby would take, she wouldn't be barreling. Not that this barrels, but she wouldn't be going full speed towards the gates or anything. They'd be taking a very, kind of almost like a serpentine sort of approach, just to make sure it's clear we're not barreling into the, you know, trying to get into the city.

And then maybe even pull up to the side so that it's not like head on, like, we're like going to run over you. And then I don't know, do we've got these, somehow we've got these big side doors. We can sort of these wing doors we can open up. Yeah. And the snowstorm stopped. Yeah. It's much calmer out. I think we just open up a door and like wave, be like, hey, we've got injured here. You're going to get a few guards coming in. You kind of get like partially it's for safety reasons, but mostly they're gawkers. Like what the hell is this? This is cool. What is that?

Like getting like getting real close and and. Hey, what is this? So Ruby will not go to a 30-minute thing. Yeah, just watch it. But when they're coming close, she'll know. Scambling over the seat to get to them. Yeah. Well, everybody's getting out and sort of stretching anyway, right? And they're coming close. And so Ruby's going to like probably adjust something on the, you know, on the outside. Like kind of like a mirror or something. Whatever. Whatever's there. Waiting for them to come up and knowing that they're going to ask and then she'll be like, oh, this is pretty much brand new.

It's the gear heart. It's, um, let me show you. Then she'll take them around. Genuinely, not like a, not the deep dive. But, but she'll, you know, she'll kind of just show it off. and make it very clear that this is not a thing you can just go get, but that they just built. This is a thing. This is a unique. This is a Mark 1. And there's nothing like it. Just real, real proud. This is one of those fire discovery moments, right? Where no one knew this was something you could do. But now that it's been done, it's like, holy hell, I want one of those. Like, it's so cool.

And you're going to get. the normal barrage of questions. It's like, how did you make it go? It looks so heavy. It's like, and I don't know if you're dancing around the part that there's an unregulated fucking forge core powering this thing, barely covered. Yeah, you're all, you're all getting cancer right now. Like right now. Right now. I mean, she's not going to get into all the details. This isn't the space for it. But she is going to sort of say like, I know, we've got some, you know, made some alliance, has got some friends together. We've got some things happen in here.

But we've got some energy powers things. She's kind of vague, vague, vague, vague, but she's definitely super proud of it. And she's, you know, a lot of don't touch that. No, really, you don't touch it. Like, I mean, I would love for you to touch it. But if you, you wouldn't have a hand. Kind of stuff. That's a moving part. Don't touch that. Yeah. So I think you get a couple of the. the just kind of tuck in their hands back like this. Just don't touch it. But like, man, that's really cool. And then a question comes up. Like, one of the, one of the guards, one of the younger ones.

Are you taking this inside? Well, that was my next question for is we need to put it somewhere safely. And we want to come back to it. So honestly, what we would like to do is just maybe there's a place where we could put it. But just where everybody else put in their carts, put in their wagons. And maybe we can find some tarps or something like that. Maybe we could help get your help. I won't keep it clean. You want to keep this thing clean, right? And then there's, like, you talk about a question. You never thought would come up at work. It's like, do we part this thing next to, like, the horses?

Like, where do we put this? Like, it's very much, it's like, this feels like an outside vehicle. But like, I. I don't. It's just like a weird like we don't. It's like this. That's a stable. That's for horses. I guess we can put it next to carriages. If you're listening in from a distance, you probably hear Ruby say more than once. No, it's no, it's a wagon without a horse. You get it. Like she just keeps coming back to that. I don't get it. I don't get it. I don't get it. What are you talking about? So it doesn't go? That doesn't make sense. It's got to be like the first podcast.

It's like, oh, so it's like a radio show. It's like, eh, kind of. It's like, so like a what? Like a movie? It's like, yeah, but none of that visual stuff. And it's like, but it's two guys having a conversation. It's like about what? That depends. I mean, it's very. It's like, ah, who would want that? And then 15 years later. Like I said a little while ago, there is no horse involved. That's right. Yes. Uh-huh. Yeah. And I think that part is thinking it's like, right, right, right, right. But when do the horses get involved? Eventually, right? Like, you know, because it's powered by ghosts, I think, right now.

I think is why I'm understanding, engineering correctly, that's full of ghosts. Those logglings first here, actually. Yeah. I mean, she'll kind of shrug a little bit of that. Like, well, I mean, kind of, but I mean, in a way. But yeah, I mean, she would be genuinely trying while anything else is happening, she would be trying to find a way to get this in, or at least a plan to get this inside the gates so that it's safe. Yeah. And I think at this point, they have to run this up the ladder. It's like, man, I did not think I'd have to get like the staff sergeant on this.

But I'm going to have to ask if this is cool to drive this in, I'm sure it is. But like, so they're asking for permission to get this in. And like the sun has set at this point. So they got their torches all around and they're looking. It's like, this thing needs. And now you get that backseat driver thing of all that. It's like, you know what this thing needs. Like everybody's got their own. Where you put your drinks? Yeah. Like a bunch of ideas. Yeah. Yeah. All of this down. Like she's like, oh, no, that's like, actually, where do you put your drinks? Drinks?

She with underline drinks. Question. Question mark. Alcohol? Question. Right. So while that's happening, Logrin just does two things. First of all, he puts a pouch with half of Cliffs' money back into his hand and hands him over to a guard. This guy needs at least a nap, maybe more. I don't know. Maybe a doctor. Clarek. Correct me if I'm wrong. But I feel like Nyther is still kind of either very close to the vehicle or hanging out in the Yeah, close to and actually probably looking towards the city going, well, something was haunting this guy just two hours ago.

She's probably hyper aware of that. Yeah. Can I have a perception check from ninth area, please? Yes. Okay. So anyway, we're... We're... It's going to take like another 10 minutes. But some kid, basically, some runner, they got... Go back in there. And, you know, it's like, oh, shit, fine. It's going to come running back. Yeah, they said it was okay. Just be careful, I guess. I had to explain to him like five times what it is. And I don't know if I did a good job. Like, just like, I don't know if I did this justice. Yeah, Ruby, whatever. You know, pat him on the back, telling thanks.

And then basically start rounding. and things up to be able to pull inside. Are we within walking distance of the gate anyway? She may just want to pull it in. Nobody helps us to get back in. She may just want to just pull it in and get into a place while everybody else is sort of walking in. I'm like, no, you aren't. No, you aren't. No, no, no, no. No, no. Just point is everybody else can be out. And we don't have to jump back in. If we're right there, she'll go in and try to. to secure it in a location. I think like part way through there. Like I think you're being given instructions.

It's like, all right. So when you go in, if you could just like, can you turn this thing? Can you make it go to the right and there's stables and stuff and keep going past that? And then there's carriages. And I guess park it there. And that while this is happening, Nitha is going to get jerked back into this vehicle. Uh, like, something. Why are you sorry? I rolled. I clicked a button. I'm sorry. It's D&D. That's not a foible. Like it's fine. Like it's, you know. Cool. All right. That's over the line. All right. I'm not sorry. So it feels like something grabs the back of your coat and just like jerks you back into.

And it's like erratically pulling. quick guys and then tries to stop whatever's happening. Yeah, would, I mean, if that's happening, would Ruby have felt anything weird in the car or in the, what do you call this thing vehicle? I don't, it's going to rock a bit. I feel like the suspension on this thing's real floaty. So it's built like an SUV in the 90s. So one sharp. turn and you're going over. But I, I, you're going to get the, like, violent shifting around once, once, you know, Night Thea is like getting grabbed. And when she, like, she kind of puts a hand back there, you're going to feel like this real clammy, um, it doesn't feel like a human hand.

But portions of it are absolutely coated in fur. fur, not hair. And you're going to feel this pain. Like, they're gripping you, but it... Like, the sounds coming from this thing. You can't quite like get behind you to the turn, but it sounds like an agonized whining, almost like the whining of a dog. Nysheera has what's called, Assassin's Got Witt, which a blade pops out. So it's hidden. So she's just gonna activate that as she's holding whatever grabbed her. Give me an attack roll, please. Okay. 14. 14 will hit. And then eight piercing damage. So, you know, reaching back here, just like that flea.

And this blade's gonna come at. You're here like a cross-patter. between a person screaming and a yipe. And they're gonna instantly retract this hand. And that allows you to get the fuck out of this vehicle. My envisioning this, you were the only one near enough. Like, so this before you pull, you get in to start, you know, driving it. Do you close the door? Do you like, what do you do here after you're out of this? Because you get like a split second. Ready combat stance. put herself between the group in it. Her job is protect. So she protect. Is Ruby, was Ruby in this or is this before we've gotten back in to move?

Before. Before. So this is while you're waiting for that. And they get there. They get there and they're telling you, it's like, hey, if you can just like pull in and go to it while they're giving you these directions, like, I just thought that would be amazing. If they're slam the door closed, Ruby's there with this thing. Have fun. When I theorists as guys, though, I think that takes chimera like perk up. And he at least turns around to like see what's going on. And if he sees her in combat stance, then. And the mind blade is activated too. So you see her like mini light saber.

Yeah. So he just like like the boomerang just like foo like goes right into his, uh, into his hand. Can everyone get me a dexterity saving check please? Xterity saving throw. Yikes. Big old yikes. I'm about to tell you. Okay. So there are no lights in this vehicle, but some of you have dark vision. Some of you have, you know, you're definitely going to see like a shape moving around in here. And it is not happy about being in this vehicle. So the whole thing's going to be like, like, rock. walking back and forth, the galling door is open, and then there's just quiet for a moment.

And all of a sudden, this gigantic beast, this, this, this, this furry creature goes from a piled up ball of muscle to this elongated, ferocious leaping form. And it is going to hit Chimer full force. Oh. And it is going to bite into Chimer's coat. And I need I need to roll an attack here. Can't imagine it could hit me. Not with this AC, baby. What is your AC? 13. Oh. Woo! Holy hell. Oh, 18. That's a 26 with. So. Weirdly, that doesn't hit. That's weird, right? And I think of the other number would. Or a teen and 20. So this thing is going to sink its teeth into into chimera's chest and arm and just start fucking ragdolling him back and forth.

It's going to cause a lot. lot of damage. And it is going to keep like just almost like picking you up with its mouth and slamming you. Like it's these huge claws. But they're also going to come down in fist form and just try to almost separate the rest of your body from what it's biting into. Yeah. And I think like it hits chimera in the solarplexus and it's like that thing where the air gets knocked out of you. And then he's being like, flung around. So he's like trying to scream, but it's not coming out really. So he's just like, so that's going to do seven piercing damage.

And that wound is already starting to sting. Like it's on fire. Like it burns. And I would imagine everybody is just going to like, okay, Nithera was ready as how do you want to roll an attack on this thing to try and get it to Fucking stop. Yes. Please do. All these guards are backing up, by the way, like, what the fuck? Like, they're kind of a moment of shock, right? They were in the middle of like, yeah, so what you want to do is you, you, and they're giving directions. And all of a sudden, like this horrific noise and there's this this muscular beast silhouette thing.

That's, yeah. Do I get a full, like, turn? And I'm asking if I get a bonoom. to coat poison. That's why I'm asking. If I could dip poison. I'm gonna say that this I, give me a wisdom saving through. If it's 14 or higher, then yeah, you had the wherewithal to do that. But otherwise, this is like you weren't ready for a fight. Yeah. Oh, God. Damn, five. So now this is very much like you almost got yanked into the vehicle with this thing. and yeah. Okay. Well, I do have the mind blade out. I did establish that. So I think I will swing with that. Probably good. Good idea.

So much better. 23 will hit. This is a good idea. Because physical damage alone is a deterrent, but that's psychic damage. And you're going to stab this thing in its flank. and it's still like at the time it is the thing is massive. Like it's hunched over, but it's got to be at least 400 pounds. It looks like the density of a bear. But it is, God, it's just so lithe and destructive within a few seconds. It had chimera on the ground. There are holes in this young man. And it is death shaking the fuck. out of them. And you're going to stab it in the side. And you're going to watch as that spark goes off the, the psychic damage.

And it's going to back off, like, let go. Yipe. And then like rear around. And it's giant fucking head. You're just, you're going to see deep red glowing eyes. And this huge mouth full of dripping saliva. And it's, you're going to watch its eyes dart down to chimera. And like one of its claws are going to reach out and kind of like hook his jacket. Just start like, like it's getting ready to do something. I'm going to. Can I do something? You know what? Give me a constitution saving drill. Let's see if you got to wear with all. Can't save it. When does initiative come into play?

Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no. That's four. Here's the thing. Totally understandable. You've had a tough week and then this. So you're, I mean, you're on the ground, like, bleeding. Like, ah, like just, you know, you're probably in shock, right? And... Hmm. Hmm. Hmm. So this wound is going to start to close on you. But it doesn't... It feels off. Like, you're vaguely going to be aware that you are bleeding and you're very, hurt, but like, your brain's disconnecting from the... It's too much trauma at once, right? It's terrifying, but mostly it's painful. And it's going to feel like somebody just took defibrillators and just, bam!

And you're just going to pop, like, like, adrenaline coursing through your body. I'm going to let you cast whatever spell you want right now. Oh, God. Okay. Whatever one you have access to. Okay, so not wish. No. Yeah. I mean, every, yeah, everybody else, this is like, you're, you're going to see something like, not overtake chimera. But it is definitely cold golf. Like, like, like, you can only. almost see where his jacket is like morphing into wings that are stretched out into the snow beneath him. He's like yeah, there's... This is the airbag, basically, you know?

Right, right, right, right. I'm going to cast, I'm going to cast burning hands, but I'm going to cast it at third level. Um, because I think like Fireball, the, this whole time, Ruby has been like, don't touch that, it'll kill you. Don't touch that, it'll kill you. Don't touch that it'll So shooting fireballs off near this vehicle is something that chimera is very mindful of. But he is going to put his hands together and shoot like a more directional gout of flame. A very strong one out at this, at this beast. So this thing is so focused on Nythera. That is not really noticed at this beast. the situation down below and your hands are just going to like almost you know, like pointing overhead behind you and just let loose a torrent of flame.

Hit me with some damage. I think it may be saving throw. Yeah. Textivity saving throw. I'm going to do it with disadvantage because it's not paying attention to you at all. In its mind, it's like, all right, I've dealt with this one. But you know what I mean? Mm-hmm. And it's safe for half damage. So this is going to go off right and right and, you know, let's call it what it is. It's a werewolf and it is right in its face. This gout of flame is going to go off before it really processes what's happening. So from Nytheris perspective, it's going to be deep red eyes just kind of like just the iris is just like piercing the darkness. and then all of a sudden flame envelops the entire head.

And it's going to take a solid second. It's like touching the stove. You know what I mean? It's going to be a solid second before this thing just starts. Death shaking again, but trying to get the fire on its head to go out. And it's going to stumble back and then take off into the darkness. You're going to see like a candle. This thing is lit up and streaking into the night. And it's going to disappear over the, uh, over the hills. Damn. And just like, that took place over the course of probably like 10 seconds. If that and. I imagine that Ruby would be turned on.

Well, okay, I found out where she. Oh, what the. Holy hell. Like, what? Uh, for real. She would have come straight over. to Camero no matter what. Yeah. Naira, as soon as she saw it, disappear, would go down because from her perspective, Camira had a chunk taken out of him. So she immediately assess him. What in the fuck was that? Clearly a werewolf. Are you okay? I think so. I'm... He like opens up his shirt and, you know, to... So he can see in every... Everyone can see that he looks peeled. He's like, "Where did that thing even come from? Did that come from inside?

Oh, my God. Was that cliff? This fucking cliff wasn't. Where is he? She's going to look around. Yeah, there's a lot of blood and shredded clothes inside the vehicle. A lot of the seats are really banged up. Pooh steering wheels all, you know, almost kicked off the, like, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, It's base. And like, yeah, there's a lot of damage. Ruby's going to take it real, like, not for a comedic effect at all, but sort of she's going to stand up and look in the distance. And then she's just going to, she's going to kind of punch her fist into the vehicle.

Like, this was her fault. She's the one who stopped. She's the one who said, come on, we can't leave him here. She's going to feel pretty responsible for this. And thinking about that everything's banged up and all. He's banged up. God damn it. She's going to punch the vehicle. Leaning over Chimer and seeing that he's okay, she's going to look chimera dead in the eyes and be like, ask him if you're infected. Okay. So I'd like to point out an interesting tidbit. So you can absolutely sell that Kolgoth is like present, like there. Because if if chimera were to look down at like the size of little chunk, this thing should have taken out, it isn't his flesh that's melted.

It looks like some sort of thick, almost like a like a dry tariff. type of thing. It looks like a hard outer shell, but it looks like it's poking out from underneath your skin. Almost Terminator style. Like there's something dark and forbidden underneath your own flesh, keeping you from bleeding out. Oh, that's new. And teaflings, a lot of the time, have, you have little bumps and protrusions. on there. You know, obviously there's horns. And like, right around Chimer's chin. He's really got like a nice jawline, right? But there are like these little bumps that are like almost like thorns that are coming out over his chin.

His horns have like elongated and kind of coast down the back of his skull. and kind of like curl up just at the back. Like there's, it's like a much more animalistic. Like he's going, what's, and his eyes are like a deep set black with pinpricks of white. Like it's like to him, it's like, yeah, like, what was that? It's like, the guards are taking a step back. It's like, oh, the fuck. Like there's two of them. That one was messed up and that one's messed up. Like, yeah, I'm like looking at everyone. Because all I see is the thing here on the. on my torso and I'm like, oh, that's new.

And I kind of like look up at everyone. Everyone's like reacting weird. And I'm like, what, what's the problem? What's going on? You're all looking at me funny. And not saying anything, which is making me. I'm a little anxious. Ask him if you're effective. He did something. He did something. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. Um. Kimera will just sort of like, like, because I imagine like, he doesn't summon Colgop doesn't get summoned. Like that's not how this works. Like it's like owning a husky. Right. Yeah. No, exactly. Like, it's like. He shows up and that's what happens. So, but I mean, they are in kind of a communication.

So I think Kimira will sort of like close his eyes and just sort of like, you know, like think about him. Like think about his presence showing up and try and commune with him in that way. Usually within your head, right? There's your thoughts. And then there's, you know, passenger thoughts that like, you know, you, you know, he can very much communicate with you in thought. And if he's feeling saucy, he does the physical, like, there's no physical thing right now. And there's like a third voice in your head. Like you, like, you can feel like it's not, it's like feral.

It is, it is. very much in combat with everything else that you are. And Colgoth is not happy of a... I'm dealing with it. He's here. He knows what's going on. I think everything's going to be okay. Well, you're going to want a mirror. What the fuck does that mean? That's the worst thing you could have possibly said. Ruby would come up to him. We and look around at Loggeron, 9th era. I'm going to get this part. Going to fix it another time. We've got time. Let's get back to the hotel. Let's see if we can get a room. I think we need some rest. Now she's going to be looking at chimera.

I also think Nathira would have a hand held mirror on her to see around corners when she's scouting. She just hand that over to Kymir because she knows that that would drive him crazy if he could not look right away. There's no reality also in which chimera doesn't own at least one. That's true. So true. Pulls out of compact. Yeah. Yeah. So this is a much harder edge than you would normally adopt. Not bad, but like, Okay. That's new. That's going to make things. A little different for how I navigate the world. Okay. Not terrible. Not great. For the first time, in a while.

Colgoth's voice kind of takes on like a soothing tongue. Like, hey, baby, don't worry, I know this means a lot to you. Like, your face is the moneymaker. Like, I get it. Like, that's very much part of who Khmer is. So it's kind of a, I'm dealing with it. It's temporary. I just, I don't think we need a third. You. Well. No. No, I'm saying. No, absolutely not. Not like this. I think that. There's absolutely that amount of Pauls. It's like, hey. Hey. You're just. Yeah. Yeah. Camar is just like swallowing hard. I mean, he hears that. That gives him a lot of reassurance. And he's just, he just, like, backs off.

Like, the, he just lets Colgoth do whatever. he's going to do. And he just kind of like buttons his shirt back up and... And... ...sas... I think things are going to be okay. That was crazy. That was rough. But things are going to be fine. It's all my fault too. And I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. She's going to look at every person. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. Ropee, no. That was not... It's definitely. not your fault. It was absolutely my fault. I should have just kept going. I shouldn't say anything. It's never going to happen again. Well, we'll just make sure that the next person that we come across, we run over.

I can do that. God damn it. At least it wasn't a hag. God. If only had me, because she's actually probably our friend, be honest, we actually were really nice to. I've fought a hag before. They're not pretty, they're not. They're not good. That thing is still out there too. And I guess whatever made him. So that's also not great. Ruby will turn, like, kind of snap to attention. We got to get this thing in here. We all got to get inside. Um, the guards at this point. That thing came out of your vehicle. Your friend is going through something. But seems cogent. So they're kind of crossbows trained.

Did you know that thing? Was that? Did you? Hail no. Not with us. Not with us at all. Yes, we like to carry dangerous things with us with us and then fight them in the front of the gates of a town we're trying to get into. We're... Okay. You understand why we were asking, right? It came out of your thing. We're just as surprised as you are that caught us quite off guard. We thought we were being good Samaritans and looked like it turned around and literally bit us in the ass. Busted up. Two of these guards are gonna like, they're very much like high school bros going over.

It's like, dude, look at the, oh, like, don't. Stop. Yeah, no, they're very much like, oh my God, the seats, look, man. Stop it. I'm going to fix it. She's making it worse. Like, she hates it. It's driving her nuts. I know. I already saw it. I already clocked it. I know. Can you please help us give this? Yes. Like right here. You might not see it. Don't touch it. Don't touch it. Don't. Don't. Don't. Don't. Don't. getting into the to the driver seat. Yeah. And she's just ignoring at this point and trying to get it in slowly into the gates. To these guards are going to start opening, you know, opening these gates slowly as you guys kind of, you're, you're gripping.

You're gripping the steering wheel here at 10 and 2, but it has got like oblong like it is bent. And it just like, it still drives fine. But every moment you're in it is like looking at the part of the set up, I have that you don't see. Where it's like there's cords everywhere. I got to fix this. It's all fucked. Like you just get anxiety. Yeah. I think that's a good time for us to stop for the night, guys. With anxiety. Oh, my God. That's not where I saw things going. But, uh, oh, I'm going to send the city. Wait, wait. Oh, man, there's so much to cover, guys.

Woo. One of you needs to remind me in the future. When Jason asked me for a perception check, just take my passive because my passive is 18, apparently. Oh, exactly. See, when you roll for stabbing, you're very, very good. Very good. Very good. So good at the step. The closer you get to a city. Yeah. It's like asking Kimmer for a constitution saving through. We all knew what was going to happen. We're asking Logrin to run over here for a second. Yeah. Speaking of which, Logrin took off after that word, right? No. You weren't there for. Yeah. Shaking this the whole time as he's right.

Oh my God. I can say hell. I was like, we just had an encounter with were rats. Hmm. What's a were wolf doing out here? There's a whole thing going on now. And now, yeah. Now, yeah. Now, well, yes, but I mean, like, there's a whole thing and it's like, we may never get to it because you get the camera's just not pan that way right now. We might get to it. I don't know. Maybe Homefront will get to it, sadly. I don't know. We'll get to it. Directly to Fort Frostboring that were. In three episodes, a werewolf with a firehead. It's ghost rider as a werewolf. Yeah.
