Thanks to Logren patching up the gear heart with his own blood, we're super tanky, but we're also moving slower than usual, which, if you know Logren, all of this tracks. Then we came across a mining camp under attack. Miners scattering into the snow as something huge and skeletal. I'm telling you, rib cages everywhere because the thing was made almost entirely of bone, and it was picking them off one by one. We rolled up, lit up the night, and finished the fight ourselves. Nithera closed it out with the mine blade and it didn't leave a body so much as a pile of bones.

This time on Frostborn, get ready for a crew still catching their breath before heading into a mine that's already proven it isn't empty. A, four-barreled shotgun that might be too good to pass up, and a demon problem that comes in threes. Because that's how packed magic works, turns out. All yours, Jason. I'm so glad because it was either going to be this or full-volume yellow. I thought he was going to do like a Mr. Scream from Wainter 2 or something. I was going to just push back from the desk and just belt a little. You don't have to be quiet, everybody.

It's fine. Let's pick up. Let's pick up with the bone devil. The devil made of bones. That was pretty nasty for some of you. Some of you are completely unscathed. We don't need to mention names. Like, it's fine. How is everyone feeling after that? Because, you know, it's not every day you guys get into scrapes now with a with a vehicle at your disposal. Right? You're shielded from a lot of, you know, like, wolf attacks and things like that. You'd have to do something really messed up for them to tackle a moving vehicle, right? This is a little different. And you are close to an operational mine that this thing came out of.

There were a bunch of dwarves that came kind of running out. And some of them got away. A couple of them didn't. So how are we feeling after that? How are, hopefully you were really banged up, Ruby specifically. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Yeah, she got pretty roughed up. So thanks for healing her there. She might want to slink over, back over to the Gearhart at some point just to be able to sort of of rest up if possible. But in the meantime, if we're picking up right when that stopped and everything was over with, she probably, where, where'd those, where'd those assholes go?

Talking about the other ones that sort of ran away. She's pissed by the way. She got hurt. She's not. Were they humans? I thought they were humans. Oh, yeah. I, sorry. I said dwarves because digging and that's racist. I'm sorry. I did. I did say that. You did say that. Okay. I did say that. I'm sorry. So my best friends are dwarfs. I, I, you know. That's right. The fact that they were mining means that they were. Well, anyway, I'm not going to. I'm not going. I don't know where that was going. Yeah, no. I was going to something about cultural appropriation, but it's not.

I'm not of the right complexion to make that joke. So I'm just going to get it. That's fair. Oof. That is a three for a total of nine. That's just Ruby hurt asking where those assholes went, but that's not necessarily scouting or anything by any means. Yeah, are they not? I mean, if they're not by the car, first of all, they're insane, because there's nothing else out here. Like, are there not anywhere near our vehicle? No, they didn't make it that far. So they were going to make a break for that and then got pursued. And they kind of splintered off. But they'll kind of be, there'll be a couple of minutes where obviously there's no screaming or fighting or something like that.

And they'll kind of like duck out from the tree line a little bit. Like, there's a couple of trees. Yeah, I think after we look around for them and don't see him. Nithera will let out like a shrill whistle. They'll be like, hey, assholes. Fighting's done. We've already judged these people. They were only for their lives. Yeah, I know. Yeah. They kind of left us in the door. You're welcome. Yeah. At least one of them got torn apart. Like, it's like, you plumbers didn't help us assassinate this cool. I know. No. It's coming off from. a fight. We almost were killed.

That's all. Totally. Ruby's lost a lot of blood. I feel like Night there leads a lot of conversations with hey assholes. Yeah. That's pretty much true. M.O. Yeah. Yeah. Sorry, God. No, I just want to real quick. I come over to where Ruby is and I pull out a little flask from the inside of my pocket. And it's like, it's definitely like some of the good stuff that. chimera and Ruby have like siphoned off of Nykhthira and uh and Lagerin's like good booze and he just like kind of like hand it to her yeah she'll immediately take it immediately Swig is this the good stuff mm-hmm has this better an in a healing potion you could possibly give me we'd have established though that Lagrin and Nythera put the good stuff in the bad bottle the bad stuff in the good model because you can't tell and don't care.

But it's gone back in. It's gone like a couple of levels in. We knew that that was a piece. 100% of shell. And then we switched it back. And then you know that we know that you've done that. So you've switched it back again. We could actually tell the difference. So we took a sip and we're like, oh, they switched it again. But you guys can't tell the difference. It's all the good stuff. I can always tell it. It's in the good stuff. So from the tree line, there's going to be a few of these guys who kind of stumble out. And there's one heavy set dude. Not fat, but like he's, he's, you know, you could tell he's probably a supervisor, not someone swinging a pickax, right?

Oh, it's just dead hang. Yeah. I can roll for it. for it. And he's going to kind of like slowly approach with everybody. And you did call him an asshole. And they're kind of like kind of like just slowly approach. Just like me. I'm covering it. Yeah. No, he's being aggressive here. And Ruby just asks where the assholes went just because it's like people. That's her name for people. Sure. But they don't know that too. That's cool. Minors don't usually appreciate harsh language. Sure, sure. So, 17 and 18, definitely. 3 and 6, not so much. So these are, Bone Devils are, there's three ways. They get to this plane, right? One, they're summoned as revenge demons, basically.

They're big and brutish and you can... They basically get a temporary furlough. They, you know, they can... They get temporary access to the plane through a ritual, and then once they kill the target, they disappear. Two is there are some really powerful for warlocks and blood mages who can bind them and they end up being servants. That's rarer because usually those people get greedy and, you know, get killed, trying to, you know, ask too much of it or whatever. The third way is almost completely accidentally. So if someone. did this accidentally managed to seal it away, there's probably two more because they end up coming in threes.

Of course they do. Nests, I'm telling you. Nest. I don't know what constitutes a nest. I don't know if three are, but yeah. If they're in a hidey hole together, it seems pretty nest like me. I'm going to, I'm in a retro, this, uh, her 17 religion check. She was actually asking a question. She already knew the answer to. She was like earlier, not the next. She was right. Brightport's actually, so Brightport's a city that has had lots of demonic trouble because people get so desperate there that, you know, it's not a very highly educated city. So even if you do have some sort of like, you know, if you prove yourself to be, you know, magically adaptable or, you know, you can tap into that. that, usually people don't have the money to be sent to a good school to really tap into that.

So people get desperate. They either want revenge or they want money or they want power or whatever it is and they do dumb shit. Like, you know, try to make packs with demons. Ruby would have heard the stories at least on the streets. Especially in orphanages, right? That's got a like that's how you go to sleep at is telling those kind of stories. Oh, yeah. So, Camero, I'll look back of the mind and he'll, and he'll say, you're dealing with packed magic. And packed magic loves a rule of three. So if and I were a betting, man, I'd say there's at least two more.

And he's going to, he's going to look back. And one of his, one of his employees. always. Yeah, it's private. But I thought it was a little more secretive than that. No, we're working for someone in Esterhold. Yeah, they needed just a shit ton of copper. Like above the table, Lesterhold, there's nothing like exceptional about, like, it's architecture that it requires a lot of copper or anything, right? So that would strike. So, I mean, like... Running water or... Right. They get a lot of plumbing in. Copper is, geez. So in our world, copper's incredibly, you know, common, right?

Also valuable, you know, like in a, I need quick cash and meth way. You know what I mean? Yeah. So in this world, usually it's used as some sort of conductor for magic. If you need a lot of it, something, you know, there's a project or something like that. Because you don't make copper weaponry or shields. There might be some statuettes or accent pieces or something like that. But you usually don't need it by the ton. Right? So, yeah. I was just going to ask that. I was going to ask if there is like a ritual or something that I know of that maybe uses copper at all that I can maybe discern.

So, yes, there are sigils and things that people have used engravings and then poured molten copper into it for summoning circles, but it's for very specific demons. And it's usually not. I mean, it'll be for like love or lust demons or gluttony, that type of thing. And they're usually not the go-to. you know what I mean? You'd have to be rich and desperate, I guess, is what I'm saying. But not the kind of desperate, like orphanage desperate, like in-cell desperate. Oh. Ooh. And that does exist. I'm not saying it doesn't exist. God, I hope it does. I hope it does.

Yeah, I think Kymer will clock that. I don't think he would think that these miners would know much about that or or that they would even have been told. Like, I can't imagine like, hey, I need you to get a bunch of copper for me. So they can summon a demon to fuck. You know? Like, I don't think that was the conversation that happened. So he just clocks that and keeps that to himself. They might know the name of the buyer, which would keep us maybe some Intel on them. Who? Locker just asked who it was for, right, though? Well, he asked, is it a private buyer or for the city, basically?

Oh, gotcha. Um, yeah, come here. I'll ask, who is it for? Who is it for? Well, let's do. We just have a contact right now. We've only dealt with her specifically. So I can... And there's several clasps going all the way down. And this is a, this is a very decorated, like, this is, like, this is like you ordered something on Etsy, right? Everything about it is like, oh, someone like, oh, look at all the detail and all that stuff. And there's a big word carved into the box itself. It's just as overkill. And it is, it is done in a very metal font. Like, it is like. And he's going to, he's kind of like look around and then like kneel down into the snow and open this box up. And there is this huge four-barreled shotgun. And this is bait, Jameson.

We haven't done a lot of legendary weapons recently, but they're going to start popping up again. And this is one. I want them. I want them. I want them. I want them. Pretty good bait. And he's looking at it. And so he's not going to say it out loud because he doesn't want to have the argument. He's like, and you ran away from the demon when you had this on your back? Okay. It probably would have dislocated his upper body. Yeah, this was made very importantly for one particular person with a particular AC. It's like a little bit more of them. Yeah. When you get to 28 on his strength saving throws.

This is like good legendary weapons can't just be picked up by any. This is a millionaire of a shotgun, right? Like. Oh, I'm going to activate my maneuver, deceptive stance. So you can't tell my expression. Because I think it will need that in this moment. I mean, there's a few roads we could go down here, right? Like above the table, real quick. Like, first of all, talk about it. Yeah, please. First of all, we could take this guy. Sure. Sure. Yeah. Easy. Nobody would ever know. The bone demon got him. And it's two friends. So the witnesses. We could probably con this guy out of this thing. But. So, Margarine's, you. He's like, he can't kneel down because of his armor. So he's just standing there looking at it in the snow. And he kind of hooks his toe, his armored booted toe under the open box. And he kind of flips it closed again. He's like, stop showing that to me. I can only get so erect. I can only be borderline for so long.

I can be borderline for so long. So, and he's thinking hard. Like, the air around him is warmer because of how hard he's thinking. He's so hard. He's so hard. He's so hard. He's so hard. And hot. In borderline. Just to make. Just to make sure I understand the full. situation. You need us to go in there, and he points to the cave to clear out a potential nest of bone demons. Because it would be more profitable to continue this mind than to pack it up, to another mine, am I understanding? Well, we're a small company. This isn't purely profit. I don't know if we have enough money to move again.

We'd have to find another copper vein. So we'd have to reroute and explore and we have a deadline. Which means we go back to renegotiate. They're going to slash the price but give us more time and it won't be worth our one. Ruby will have come back from the Gearheart at this point. She's, she got, she got some bandages. Like she was trying to sort of make sure she was all taking care of. Y'all ready to go? Hold that thought. We got a situation. Uh, he's like very, very, very, much that I'm doing math in my head type expression. Um, um, can Logren read the faces of Camara and Nithera and Nithera?

Because they were there for the offer. I'm not going to expect for me to know what's going on. But I took deceptive. Oh yeah, you specifically are not. Yeah. Yeah. It did specifically state not that. You can tell he's got a poker face on for these people, but he is watching you out of the corner of his eye. for a signal.

There is a cold searing wind howling around you, and there's got to be a thought that it's like, I'll tell you specifically for Lagrin, it is, did you just show me that with no plan on how to defend yourself? If I was the type of person who was going to murder you for it, Labyrinth more like you fool, if I was that type of guy, this would be bad. And they just all us kill a bone demon. So it's like. Right. And I think it's just like these aren't savvy corporate pirates or. hardened. Like, it's like, look, man, we're just trying to clock in for 12 hours a day and get, get back.

They're being earnest and naive a little. But like, yeah. Yeah, this is the reason that, yeah, these guys probably didn't write their own contract, right? Otherwise, they wouldn't be in this position. So, so Logrin is going to, after a moment's thought, and he'll look back at this guy. All right, I'll make you deal. We're in a bit of a time crunch. I can give you two days. We'll go in there. We will see what we can find. I don't know how big your, you're, you're. I almost said, I don't know, figure shaft is. He's going to say, all right, now that's settled, what's doing business with you. I need you to go get everybody out of there. The place is full of bone demons. They need to be out of there. Every wing till we know there's no more nests. He like checks the word nests with Ruby. She nods. Is it a nests? Is it a hive? I don't know. Is it a hive? I don't know. just two. It's a murder. Well, there might be two next.

We don't know. Oh, no. We don't know. The thing about the rule of three is sometimes that means six. God forbid nine. What are you? It's a dumbest thing of ever. It makes me laugh. Because it's not how the rule of three works. You know what's divisible by three? 15. Oh, what? It will come out of their level 15 if there's this many of them here. Oh, my God. This is a montage. This is where we get. Oh, my God. This is where we kill Jason because we get to the level that's just a level. Fuck everything you say. It's conan. Yeah, he'll tuttle right off and there's a, There's a siren that there's like a hand crank, Claxon type of thing.

So just kind of like crank that out. Like that's a cat. That's horrible. That's fine. That's fine. Yeah. No, you're right. That's cat and heat. Okay. But that is the siren. He signals, let's everybody know. Things are happening. And it'll take almost a half hour, but everyone will make it out. And it looks like they are unharmed. but everyone who is in the other wing is dead. In my mind, it's night time.

Is it night time? Yeah. Yeah, I thought it was nighttime. It was, yeah. So I think by the time they, they evacuate this mine, we have camp set up. And, and be like, all right, well, first thing tomorrow, we'll be in there. You get two days. Everybody give yourselves a long rest, please. Yeah. Yay. That feels better. Yeah, it does. I want to add like while we're resting and everything, I want to ask Thomas. If there were any like telltale signs or anything, did this bone demon just like come out of nowhere? Or were they like, huh, some weird markings on these. these walls, oh, well, clank, clank, clink.

Right. Ignoring, like, growing green. Yeah. Yeah. This isn't our first cave dive. We found some weird stuff before. Nothing like this, but we were digging through a particularly rough patch. So we used some explosives to make it through. And as the dust was settling, this thing came out of nowhere. So nothing around that area that, like, tipped you off, that something was off or that you were in a place that maybe you shouldn't have been. Nothing about this looked like people have previously been there, like lived in. Nothing like that. No. If we find anything like that, trust me, from previous experience, we know to call in an expert.

But that's really rare. And I'm guessing collapsing the tunnel would be counterproductive to your mining operations. A bit, yes. Because that's one way to solve it. I feel like we could do that. Like that's, you know, we... That's how we like to handle problems. Would it work here? Blow it up and bury it? Have you guys tried that? It's pretty successful. I mean, we'll see how the next two days goes. True. Did, so, for the record, did you get the shotgun now? now or as a reward at the end? Contract stated as a reward. It did. Because that sure would be handy. It sure would be handy.

Logger and Will ask around, though, if they're all the miners are out of there and see if... Because these guys must come at least somewhat armed. Like, he needs ammunition. So he's going to ask around and see if you can make some trades for some... Some bullets. Yeah, a couple of them probably have like... Yeah. Like, if he's... It's slightly rare, but when you're in a closed space like this, swords and axes and things like that are, you know, you'll get 10 shells. Okay. That puts me up to 11. How much, how much, how many silver pieces you want to shave off?

So if you were to get these in town, it'd be kind of pricey because it's not like arrows. But I think because you're doing, I think it would just be like, hey, they're doing us a favor. Like, we're not going to get paid unless. So I think they'd be kind of pressured into just giving them to you. Yeah. You know.
